(00:53):
Week two of the NFL begins, but it is also
Jets Sandwich night. Sandwich Sandwich Sandwich. We get our Jets sandwiches.
You and I made a bet in the Jets Bills game.
I told you I'll take the Jets. We're gonna smash them.
I don't need the points. The Jets win. There wasn't smashing,
but they did win. And tonight sandwich, sandwich, sandwich, sandwich, sandwich,
(01:19):
sandwich night, Jets sandwich night.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
I'm not nearly as excited as you are about it.
You're eating a sandwich too? Why not? No, I'm not.
Why aren't you not eating a sandwich because I don't
want it?
Speaker 4 (01:30):
What?
Speaker 3 (01:31):
Why did we bet sandwiches? And if you didn't want
a sandwich, I mean, was being bought by you? I
think it would be a bad taste in my mouth?
Speaker 1 (01:39):
So why you could either buy a sandwich sandwich and
we both eat it.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
If it was a free sand what is lady in
the tramp? But but but but that was a free sandwich,
then I'd enjoy it. But that's why we bet. I
mean that that mean buying the sandwich? Who's the tramp?
We bet? We bet just wouldn't be excited.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
That's how bet goes. One of us wins and buy sandwiches,
the other one loses. Guys, don't avoid the question who's
the tramp?
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Where? Okay, you could be the tramp. That's fine, So
Jason's the lady?
Speaker 1 (02:10):
I got just picturing Mike and I eating spaghetti, the
one the one thing of spaghetti between our between our mouths,
and we eat and stop we get too close, Oh Dad.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Like you would ever stop eating spaghetti? Sad dam sandwich?
You know what else is eating? Sandwich? Philadelphia sandwich, Minnesota
sandwich sand.
Speaker 5 (02:29):
Jason, guess what you ordered? What kind of sandwich you
ordered tonight? Go ahead, guess the burnt achilles? Hey, Aaron
Rodgers achilles surgery.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
He had it Wednesday, told everybody on Instagram it's a success.
Same guy that put Tom Brady back together. All good,
every guy.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
As soon as the surgery's out, as long as you
wake up, you're gonna say it's a success. Yeah. Yeah,
How you got to your destination? It could have been
the worst four hours of your life. How's your fly
was bad? You were supposed to go. It's why all
our friends in sports media when they complain about flights
or whatever, it's like, get in the car. You don't
(03:07):
like it, get in the car.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Sometimes people get out of surgeries and I feeling good
out of think it went well all that. You put
your watch in my in mind because that's what he's
gonna know. That's what he's gonna put out. Nobody ever
puts that out.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
But if what I'm miserable that guy was surly he
was not feel awful. The anaesteesiologists kept looking at me
funny before he put me under doctors wearing a packer's hat.
I didn't like it. Yeah, the entire time. It's like
when Seinfeld goes to the dentist and it's Brian Cranston
and his assist nurse. Nurse had a Jordan Love jersey.
(03:38):
I didn't like it. It did not feel good, and
not feel good about that is gonna say. It hopped up,
it was went good.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
It went good, it went good, it went well, and
more importantly, sandwich sandwich sandwich.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
We haven't been able to order anything because we got
to do the special order thing and online they don't
let us do it.
Speaker 5 (04:00):
Well, Alex can always order it on this computer for you.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Yeah, well I think that's what he's gonna end up doing.
He still has im out of the running. Actually, I'm
not doing it. Yeah, but I have the card. I'll
actually terrify it.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
I'm here, No, right, if he's verified you had, don't
pretend like you haven't bought tons of stuff off of eBay,
off of Harmon's credit.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
Okay, I bought cards to hide that I was buying
stuff okay, so he wouldn't know is really still a thing.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
I bought a bunch of this really high quality seaweed. Uh,
he would know, which is so great? But to hide it,
I bought a bunch of rock party rookie carss. I
think I would pick up on that. Parties over over
the off season were grossly overpriced. In my opinion, I
was I wasn't diving in at the price they were at.
(04:45):
I was looking for bargains elsewhere in the football market.
People like their brock party sandwich, sandwich, sandwich sandwich.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
People like sandwiches too, No sand I mean I mentioned
it to my daughters. Guess what both of them have orders.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
Yeah, Bob tell it, so bye bye, get a sandwich
for yourself. You're buying sandwiches for us, and it's just
gonna feel worse if you're not eating a sandwich.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
If you keep talking about this, suddenly I'm gonna have
to buy like another nine for everybody that's lurking around
the hallways. You shouldn't have bet the bills, Lis, I
told you that was you and me.
Speaker 5 (05:21):
Sandwich said, which, Mike, just tell them Jason's for a
cop Okay.

successful Achilles surgery, I guess that's a good day after
(05:47):
the bad day Monday. Not having a good day today,
A good night tonight. The Minnesota Vikings Thursday Night football.
The Vikings are not gonna be happy until they hand
the game completely to the philadel The Eagles DeVante Smith
a touchdown, making it twenty seven to seven, sixty three
(06:08):
yards from Jalen Hurts, and now the route is on.
Minnesota has just killed themselves a turnover and a kickoff
return interception. The Justin Jefferson touchdown that looked that was
the turnover. There was just a killer at the end
of the first half where it's a thirteen to seven
game and Justin Jefferson catches a pass for thirty yards
(06:28):
down to the one yard line with about thirty seconds left.
What has Justin jeffersons decide to do? No, I want
to put the ball over the pylon and into the
end zone, which is the worst play in the world.
And what happens. He fumbles through the end zone. And
so instead of the Vikings being on the one yard
line and three chance is to punch it in or
four chance is to punch it in, Nope, it's a
(06:50):
turnover to the Eagles, who drive down Jake Elliott makes
a sixty one yard field goal, and instead of the
Vikings going to the locker room winning fourteen ten, they're
losing thirteen to seven.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
That play.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Out of all the turnovers, right out of all the
turnovers we've seen, the interceptions, everything, that play made me
bat bananas crazy because I don't understand why players continue
to do this. It's not a winner go home play.
If it's a winner go home play, and you got
to try to put the ball over the pilon, I
get it. This is a thirty yard catch. This is
gonna give you first and goal with the one with
(07:24):
thirty seconds loft, you have all kinds of time to
get the ball.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
In the end zone.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
But no, Billy's not getting the ball back and don't
give me. But as a player, no, as a player,
you know the coaches know to tell you, don't put
the ball over the pielon.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
But I want to score. I'm a star, I want
to score. No, it's not a winner. Be smart.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
You're a football player. You're not somebody that says I
need to do this. No, no, don't give me all.
You're telling players to go against their there what they
what they do, and against their intuition and how they play.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
No, it's easy to say, hey, don't.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Put the ball over the pilon, don't put the ball
in pielon because nothing bad, nothing good can come of it. Again,
if it's a winner, go home play. I get it,
you have to do it. But it's not first and
goal at the one. And now the game is completely different,
and it's a huge flip. It's a ten point flip.
And since that moment it's been all Philadelphia.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Well it's it. Super Toe comes out hits the sixty
one yarder. That's the half. And now not only were
you not in the lead, you've given up another three man.
It's a ten point swing, just like that, and you
could have run out the rest of the clock. So
they don't even get the ball right, they end up
running six plays thirty seven yards in those thirty four
seconds to get the field goal attempt. They superte it,
(08:33):
you know, like you used to the old toy and
you had to hammer it's smart helmet after a while
because like ah, I cat, I broke the helmet, cracked
the I had too hard. I ended too hard in
the super toe. That's my fault. But you just had
the big opportunities and just like that, you you gave
up a seven bunch because you ran a masterful two
(08:55):
minute plus drill right two forty four left when you
get the ball, All right, how much can you bleed?
Because you're starting to see the lien from Philadelphia. They'd
had that long protracted drive at what sixteen plays and
thirteen of them were runs, so you were getting the lian.
The offensive line was starting to go to work. Here
was keep your defense off the field through a full
(09:17):
halftime celebration or whatever else. Instead they're back out on
the field and deflated because you gave up the seven points.
Twitter at how about a fresca?
Speaker 1 (09:26):
Mike has swalling down The Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Carmon A quick update. May not be
all lost for the Vikings, as Kirk Cousins has just
hit TJ. Hockinson, justin Jefferson.
Speaker 5 (09:39):
Randy Moss, keep going, Chuck Foreman, Chris Carter, Chris Carr, that's.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Pretty Gooding's still there.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
Jordan Addison with a big touchdown, a sixty yard touchdown
to make it twenty seven to fourteen. So still and
we're getting a lot of points in this game. There's
a lot of offense now. But this could been a
game for the I mean, really, the Vikings would have
been in control this game. And plays like that just
drive me absolutely crazy because they don't need to happen.
They don't need to happen.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
But here's the thing, right, you have this vaunted Eagles
offense and they had to grind it out right and
hurts for fantasy purposes. It got you the two rushing touchdowns, congratulations,
and then all of a sudden you get the big strike.
But you've done a pretty good job. They were discombobulated,
having issues of their own and went to the ground
(10:29):
game and started to move the ball with regularity. But
when they went back to pass, there was nothing easy
for the Philadelphia offense. Just like it was last week
against the Patriots. They got out to the big lead,
and then it was how do we hold on? How
do we have things work in our favor to finish?
And here for the Vikings playing terrible football, turnovers galore,
(10:51):
playing terrible football, you're still in the game and just
like that, you're getting smashed. Look like a couple of
big plays and you're offensive ineptitude and they'd never rushing
first down in the first half. Eagles had thirteen.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
Yeah, it's been now we're a little over six quarters
into the season. Right, we're seeing two teams who were
two of the better teams in the NFC last year. Right,
Eagles make it the Super Bowl, Vikings go to the playoffs.
Vikings have not looked good. The Viking the Vikings. But
for me, it's not that, Hey, what's wrong with them?
It's last year all the breaks went their way.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
It's like two years ago. They did all the play
last year they all did. Yeah, they are in the middle.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
All the fifty to fifty times where that game was
up in the air, the ball bounced their way. Right
the Vikings, Hey, listen, we had a lot of karma
last year and it's just not started that way this year.
And they realized that maybe they missed Dalvin Cook a
little bit more because they can't run the football. They
thought we're just gonna be pass happy driven now with
Addison and Hockinson and of course to add to Jefferson,
Hey this is what we're gonna do. And it's been
(11:52):
a slow start. They're turning the football over. This is
not an elite team. The Eagles have looked a little
bit better, but boy, they've arted slow. Not that I'm
concerned because the roster is so good, but my concern
for the Eagles is here the first five or six
weeks is what's the Super Bowl hangover for them? Like,
because this is a young team. They make it all
the way there and they lose, and they you know,
(12:14):
they walk away thinking if there was different turf, we
would have won, If they had thrown a flag, we
would have won. And for teams like that, sometimes it
takes them a little bit to get through the next
season before they get back to being the team they
were because you're playing the Super Bowl over in your head,
going we're gonna be back there. Let let's just get
to the playoff. We're gonna be back there, and so
you start off slow before you realize, okay, we have
(12:34):
to focus more on this. I can't keep thinking long term.
You see, you see the hangover for a lot of
till you also have a new coordinator.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
I mean, Stik's gone, and you don't do a ton
of work in the preseason, right, You're not getting those
live reps. So it's gonna take some time. And like
you said, when you get down to brass tacks, your
roster is better than others. So eventually you're gonna be
able to impose your will and you can still use
that Kakamani goal line situation. That's indefensible. Right, So hurts
(13:02):
with his two rushing touchdowns, But if you can get
a lean and you can keep that offensive line healthy,
you're gonna be in pretty good shape overall. So yeah,
it's it's one of those type of games for the
for the Vikings. And let's face it, we all know
the history of Kirk Cousins in primetime games.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
Primetime Kirk, we're gonna hand the ball to the We're
gonna hand the game of the We're not gonna be
happy till we give them this game.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
And we are zero and too. But that's okay because
in six weeks, maybe the Jets will get Kirk Cousins
from the Viking. Well, how much is the dead capy
all of it? None hit for him, right, yeah? Him
and Tannehill would be the guys. And I was looking
at it. Go ahead.
Speaker 5 (13:40):
If anything, the Vikings are getting Aaron Rodgers all on
Brett fark.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
Well, there is the continuity effects.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
Yeah, but he can't be the big media star that
he is in New York. Now with Minnesota, this is
not gonna work.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Here on Sandwich Night. It's Jets Sandwich Night. Harmon and
I Harmon paying off.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
The bet from the Jets Bills game on Monday Night,
waiting for Steve to say or to decide what bleeping
sandwich you wants? Steve, Steve, we want to make sandwich.
Get sandwiches. Want to get sandwiches? Come on, Okay, you

Speaker 3 (14:32):
Look at the menu or not.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
That's gonna happen all right, Western Burger Harmon Sandwich sand

(14:54):
gonna have a big bundle steak at cheese, sam I
hate you all right now. Three and a half to
go in the third quarter, the Vikings, after a long
touchdown to Jordan Madison, got the football back. They punted.
Philadelphia has the ball facing second and five at their
own twenty five again. They lead twenty seven to fourteen
to four turnovers by the Minnesota Vikings Tonight contributing and
(15:15):
basically giving the Eagles this game so far.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
But still at a time left.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Got the rest of the third quarter, got the entire
fourth quarter, hopefully justin Jefferson starts making better kick.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
Better decisions than he did earlier in the game. For
seventy in the game on eight targets. On the other side,
I mean you have had Philadelphia is rushed for more
yards than they have passed four here. Yeah, and that
includes that sixty three yard bomb yeah to DeVante Smith. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
Any one of those seventeen Eagles running backs can can
get it done for you.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
Anyone doesn't that Swift does. Look, we said Swift would
get touches.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
But you're not a swifty. You're not a swifty. I
know you're not a swifty. You're not a swift if
there ever was, You're not a swifty.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
I know you're not.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
You're not.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
Like every time we have a conversation about DeAndre Swift,
you always say how many carries on he get turn?
Speaker 3 (16:01):
I said, yes, exactly, you're not a swifty. Don't tell
people for tonight I'm a swift. You're not. I had
to be a swift one night, Swift because Gainwell wasn't playing.
So yes, it was a swifty. You're a swifty.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
Okay, he's got like, he's got like twenty nine carries
so far under the yards though he's having it's having
a great game.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
This is if they don't let him. This is the
unders gets to bust up his body. But then they
let Jalen Hurts score the touchdowns like that eighteen for
one oh seven for DeAndre Swift. And then next week
at one carry four that's Austin Scott will come back
out of concussion protocol, Gainwall will be healthy and he'll
be relegated to uh bystander again.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
Yeah, the Eagles don't have anybody else to give the
football to, so Swift is going to continue to run
the ball. However, he just comes off the field and
sits down while the Eagles have the football. Uh, maybe
he's tired. But but you know, usually when you're ready
to go right back in the game, you don't go
and just sit down. But maybe he is tired. Maybe
he's getting ready to go back in We'll see. But
a big, big night tonight for him. And again, still
(17:01):
the entire fourth quarter to go for DeAndre Swift. Now
we'll keep you updated on this game. But another day
where Dion Sanders and Colorado jumped in front of the
news cycle and this comes to his courtesy, not because
of what Dion said, but the reaction to Dion Sanders. Now, look,
since Deanna and Colorado have shown up, we told Jay, look,
(17:23):
Deon is college football. He has become the biggest star
in college football. He is not a everybody love me
type of guy. He is a polarizing person and Dion
knows this. Today, Colorado State head coach Jay Norveld, they're
getting ready for the big Colorado Colorado State game this week.
This is maybe the last game Colorado is going to
(17:44):
be overly favored to win for a little bit. But
uh in advanced the game this week. Everybody's watching Colorado.
What's happening?
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Uh? Norvelle not happy with how Dion Sanders approaches things
as a head coach. Here. He was on the.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
Radio earlier today basically saying, I don't care. I'm gonna
say what I think about how Dion talks to people.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
And I said out with the ESPN today and I
don't care if they hear it in Boulder.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
I told him, I took my hat off and I
took my glasses off, and I said, when I talked
to growing ups, I take my hat and my glasses off.
That's what my mother talked people class.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
While he's doing a live radio TI, yeah, yeah, that's
right up. So of course this gets to Deon Sanders
within about eight seconds. Did you hear what happened?
Speaker 3 (18:25):
Diasantana's always up, especially uh his kid Dion who was
wearing a hat and sunglasses. While he's saying, what are
you're gonna hear? At practice, gathering the buffaloes around him
as are getting ready for this game, relays to them
that he just heard about what coach Norvel said getting
ready for the game.
Speaker 4 (18:43):
I'm out of my own business, much as the film,
trying to get ready, trying to get out of here
and be the best coach jack of be it. I
look up and I reasonable judge, and Dan said about
us once again, why would you want to talk about us?
Speaker 3 (18:55):
Now?
Speaker 2 (18:55):
We don't talk about no bad.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
All we do is go out here, burkout bus open
do I Javo say. But when they give.
Speaker 4 (19:01):
Us ammunition, it was just gonna be a good game
and they haven't mess run and made it.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
It was gonna be a great test, a Battle of Colorado.
But they'll mess run and made it until you score that. Truly,
that's Deon Sanders Junior, right, that's doing the He's the
coach in American Pie until you store.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
Now, let's deal with this. There's two sides. Let's deal
with the the the Mike Norvel thing. First, because j Norvell,
because in theory I completely agree with what he says
when he says, I take my hat my sunglasses off,
I don't have a lot of absolutes being the youth
coach I've been for a long time, because every every
kid is different, and you have to find a way
(19:47):
to reach them all and get them in a positive
frame of mind and get them to want to play
for you and play for themselves. But the one thing
I've always I've always subscribed to, I never wear sunglasses
on the field.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
Never.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
I want I want the girls. I want the players
to see me and see that I care, and see
when I'm talking to them that I'm not just some
guy exactly what.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
I can't believe you would do that. Why would you?
But would do that?
Speaker 1 (20:08):
But I want them to see my eyes and see
my face and say, hey, listen, we're having a conversation.
I don't want them to feel like I'm the detached
coach who is above you now wearing a hat. I mean, look,
I don't get the hat part, but the sunglasses part
I really do get now. And that's why I understand
in theory what he's saying, because I subscribe to that.
That's not how you should do it with kids. You
should always let them see and let them know you
(20:30):
and know who you are by taking your son and
not wearing sunglasses when you're talking. I never never wear
on the field in practice, I've never worn sunglasses.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Yeah, I mean, this wasn't a criticism in the practice side.
It's the I'm gonna sit with you adult to adult
and have a conversation, but I'm gonna sit with a
hat and sunglasses on, right, And so it becomes down
to I get over yourself. For one. It's like, if
that that's that's who he is, that's who he is,
and take offense to it. Don't take offense to it.
(20:58):
I mean, you just sound like a dope and you
felt like you needed someone to talk about you. Or
is this a case of I remember friends of mine
they were together for a long time before they they
got engaged and eventually got married, and in their the
vows that they wrote, he the groom said, you know,
like water erodes rock. Eventually I caved. Maybe that's part
(21:20):
of that. Here, it's been all about Colorado, Colorado, Colorado,
and finally it's Colorado week. He's like, blanke it, I'm
tired of talking about this guy.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
No, but but that's where this gets bigger and it
and now because it's really about Dion and this is
the polarization that Dion Sanders has across college football. Jane
Norvell doesn't like the fact that everywhere he is, Dion's
wearing sunglasses. And he's wearing the big wrap around sunglasses too, right,
not not like Tony Sporano who had to wear sunglasses
(21:51):
because he had eye and eyes said, she's wearing him
at night and everything else. Now he's wearing the big
wrap around. But and this shows you Dion is polarizing.
He is polar people who just hate, hate, hate him.
And here's Jay Norvel doing not the smartest thing. Why
does he care what Dion Sanders looks? Why does he care?
I mean, he just this is a guy that was
cooking on Dion and I can't stand him, and we're
(22:13):
playing him this week and I but I gotta say something. So, Now,
what do I do in a sport that can be emotional?
I've given Colorado fuel because you know one thing Deon
Sanders love to do is I want to make it personal, right,
because that's what he's done from the beginning. Every game
is personal. Every game is a slight everything, and I
can't say that he hasn't gotten it. Matt Ruhle, Yeah,
I want to say stuff about Dion, And here's Jay Norvel.
(22:34):
I want to say stuff about Dion. Okay, all right,
you know you're doing exactly what what he wants you
to do. You're giving him fuel to play. That's why
that's stupid as a head coach. And why do you
care what other head coach does. You just can't stand him.
You just can't stand the guy. And now you're gonna
you're gonna get the racial impact of it. That's gonna
be Why why are people talking about Dion when they
don't talk about any other coach like this? And it's
(22:55):
gonna get it's gonna inflame, and it's gonna be bad
for them. It's gonna be bad for them. On Saturday
Colorado's you know, they get fifty, they're gonna go for
sixty and seventy and seventy five. It's gonna be that
kind of time. But but for Dion being polarizing, you're
feeding into everything that he loves. He loves the media,
he loves the smoke, he loves the attention, he loves
(23:17):
the fact that people hate his program. Sure he uses
that for fuel. He's smart. That's what I would do
as a head coach, Sir Jordan, That's what I would
do as a head coach. You hate you hate me,
So I'm using and I am feeding. It's like a
big fire and you didn't even have to throw any
coals on it or anything. It is a huge fight.
It's a conflagration going on in Boulder right now. That's good,
And I like, that's a word right there. You are
(23:39):
doing exactly what Dion wants. He loves the haters. He
loves it. He loves the media. He gets it. He
was a member of the media for a long time.
He understands the power of words and what is said
on the media and what the effect they can have
on a football team. He's a new school guy and
gets it. Hey, I can use this to my advantage.
I don't know why you would say anything about Dion
going into a game, but why would you do it?
Speaker 3 (24:01):
Just go play the game. Go play the game. People
that are pieces that are hyping him up and hyping
his team up anyway. I mean, they're dividing up that
campus this week like it's the damn game of risk.
I get my show's over here. Your shows up that
you don't come three feet there or we will take
you down. We're gonna have face painted guys and and
(24:21):
over here. We're gonna bring the Rock in. Talk about
a guy who's desperate for image rehabilitation. But that's a discussion. Well,
I don't know, he needs a hit movie. This thing
with Hawaii didn't go over well, yeah, yeah, that's true.
Yeah right yeah, Young Rock just got canceled. Black Adam
was tracked me. I forgot about just keep going. He's
(24:43):
got a lot of stuff that piled against him here.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
He needs he needs to do uh San Andreas too,
you know, yeah, keep.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
Waiting for him to show back up. You know in
that storyline that they keep kicking down the road for
Endeavor slash w W E actually comes to Fruition. But
that's a whole you'll know when he comes back to
the that's ok. Oh no, it'll be there for rustle
Mania Philadelphia. I have no doubt about it. But this
whole thing, like you don't need to poke the bear.
What they do need is the word of the day.
(25:11):
Like you're on Peewee's playhouse, Shout out pee wee Hermann. Uh,
you know, because the kids don't know which keyword he
wants them to repeat when he when they launch into that.
Is it respect? Is it like what do we do personal?
Speaker 2 (25:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (25:26):
But for all of it, look and I and I've
been pretty pretty on board, you know, the the coach
side of it, the football side of it. Good to
see the coordinators getting a little bit of love now,
some big thought pieces now a couple of weeks in uh,
and it's recognizing that there's more to the machine than
just Dion. And I'm excited to watch it on Saturdays,
(25:48):
right Sor Sanders, Travis Hunter, these guys. It's a travelers
show show the rest of it. I'm done with the
cheerleading and the endless chatter. And then dope be things
like Norvel because people started to making about race, like
I think Norvel's black, but it doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
But it doesn't matter there's a black head coach getting
criticized where nobody says things like that.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
Just generally that people went down there that rabbit hole.
And I'm like, I don't think you understood, Like there's
it's it's not the same racial discussion that you would
normally have in this but going back to implying that
his mom didn't raise him right for not taking glasses
off or a hat off, like it's it's that's his
(26:34):
unnecessary and that's what you've seen for thirty yearses, that's
who Dion is. I don't get it.
Speaker 1 (26:39):
I don't get why you would do that, because Dion
is trying to find a way because the one thing
I told you, the one worry I have for Colorado
is you can't play the super Bowl every week. Eventually
your team runs out of gas and you come up
flat and and you lose a game, and suddenly those
losses can pile up, right, you can you can't be
this emotional every week. And this is the third week
in a row. Oh now it's personal. It's like, dude,
(27:01):
can we just have a game where we go play?
Speaker 3 (27:02):
But eventually this was nice and easy. You're you're favored
by twenty.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
Four right, Eventually, eventually you know you need some weeks
where we're gonna go it's a business trip and we're
gonna go play and that's it.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
And there's weeks where any we need that extra bit.
He could have chuckled, I said, but I said, that's
that one, that's that one thing. But right now, but
right now you're talking.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
About week three where you can still run that that
personal emotional thing because it's the early part of the season.
We're playing well.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
I don't know why. I don't know why you would
do it, right, I don't know why you would do
that and say that because everybody now knows j level,
I don't know. And when they get smashed on like this, No, because.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
He doesn't have sunglasses had on. You see, I can
recognize you know, sunglasses and no, that's good because nobody's
ever you know it had issue. Uh, you've misidentified Dion
for three years because of that act. He doesn't wear
one when he's on on those commercials with Nick.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
Saban and the Go.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app
oh where mah Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon. Dion Sanders just singing
(28:14):
this in the shower, gold shower head, gold tub, everything
else ready to go?
Speaker 3 (28:21):
Does everybody keep putting it on a t for him? Though?
We say, let him manufacture demons speed Jordan's what are
we saying minutes ago? Don't poke the bear, don't don't
make it personal. Putt criticize the coach. What are you doing?
Let him sit back and watch how my people are
carving up the campus. He likes to make it per
(28:41):
he likes send him a beach head over here. I
don't know why you made it personal that happens. I
don't know why you had the picture of him in
the shower.
Speaker 5 (28:48):
I'm just saying to singing that like he couldn't be
singing anywhere else around his house, just holding the shower
head and singing into it.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
No, yeah, that was talking about showers. Was Baker Mayfield
when they were counting down the seconds of their win
in Week one. Oh yeah, we'll hunk it out in
the showers. Well that's you know, that's yea. You know,
team and camaraderie, how it goes, no question about it.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
Nine minutes to go in the fourth quarter, the Vikings
trailing the Philadelphia Eagles twenty seven to fourteen. However, Vikings
are driving right now, justin Jefferson with a big catch
there for first down. He's up to eight and one
fifteen on the night, So still a lot of time
left for Kirk Cousins and company to get this done
(29:28):
and overcome the four turnovers they had earlier in the game.
But we mentioned this a few times, and I maybe
now people are coming around to it.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
I don't know how you.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
Can give Bill Belichick a pass for anything that goes
on with the Patriots anymore. Right, I was reading today
about how Juju Smith Schuster only played fifty percent of
the snaps and he was the guy that obviously they
they brought in to replace Koby Myers. Right, Myers was
worth more money, but I get.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
It, But I read to also scored two touchdowns. It
looked like he was worth every penny he.
Speaker 1 (30:08):
Right, he played fifty percent of the snaps in Week one.
This is your big off season free agent signing. You
have now had a not just a plethora. Can you
say it was a plethora.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
We have a.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
Plethora of free agent signings for him that have gone
bad the last three years. You have the fiasco over
the quarterbackup quarterback situation Week one, where we're going to
a guy who who may be on the team. We're
gonna keep Bailey Zappy but we're okay with allowing him
to be exposed to go to another team. Now we're
(30:43):
gonna bring him back. He was okay with losing his
backup quarterback. He was okay with losing his backup quarterback. Yes,
it worked out for him, But now there's no Matt
Carrall Who's who was not with the.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
Deat a whole other situation that we have no idea
the detail, but what.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
The fact that that remains is that he was okay
with losing his backup court, potentially not having a guy
for week one, Right, but it's something you need to
You can't go without a backup, right. Uh, you have
the the the fiasco with Sunday, they weren't really ready
for Philadelphia on Tom Brady Day, Brady is there and
(31:16):
they still come out flat. There's just time had an
opportunity to come back and steal that game. Yeah, and
then and then and then the whole fourth down, Uh,
going for its situation when you're two down, it doesn't
make any of your time.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
Like because long said the GM Bill Belichick should have
been fired a long time ago.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
Yeah, but now now you have the coach Bill Belichick too,
and it's and it's decisions that are made that are
not going his way. Because on fourth down, hey, you
don't have Tom Brady trying to get that first down anymore.
You have Alabama Mack trying to get that first down.
And really, the more time that goes on, the more
you realize, did Tom Brady just cover up a lot
of this stuff? And Bill Belichick seemed like a bigger
(31:58):
genius because Brad he made it work. Because fourth down,
if Alabama Mack doesn't get that first down, he's not
getting a bet bellot, Why is Belichick doing it? Why
is he going he needs the score? I don't understand why.
But if he gets it and Brady gets team into
the end zone, hey, Belichick's a genius, right. I mean,
it's time to realize that that he is circling the
drain in New England.
Speaker 3 (32:18):
This is it. Whether he walks away or is pushed out.
I don't know what Belichick's endgame is. I don't know.
I don't know what it is. It's bad personnel decisions.
Are you really trying to win?
Speaker 1 (32:28):
I mean, I know, and I've said from the beginning,
he's trying to move on from the Brady era to
show I'm the one responsible, so I'm gonna win with
players who aren't very good. So what he's done as
a symbol a roster that doesn't have a lot of talent.
I don't know what his endgame is. What does winning
look like for him? Is it winning the super Bowl
with these guys that were no good so we can
stand up at the end and say, look are these guys.
It wouldn't make any other roster in the NFL, but
(32:50):
I just won the super Bowl with them. I don't
know what his endgame is. I really don't get it.
And and you can see now there's a fine line
between a genius and looking foolish, and Belichick has certainly
looked foolish in the post Tom Brady era a lot
more than he's looked like a genius.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
Yeah. I mean for that particular game, you just had
everything that could go wrong, one of the many games
in Week one, and I was just saying to the guys,
to Alex and Justin. Thus far, the NFL product has
been lackluster at best. And that's me trying to smile
and say, hey watch the rest of them. Here we go.
Come on, let's be excitable when there's some really bad
(33:26):
football going on, some really bad decision making, tackling all
the hopes of avoiding injuries. We just saw the card
out once again. You haven't avoided that. But for Bill
Belichick from a coaching perspective, like you got blitzed and
then you put yourself in a position to go win
that game. He and Matt Jones and what Bill O'Brien's
(33:47):
doing offensively, But why hamstring yourself. The wide receiver position
is obviously one that they have not figured out in
any way, shape or form. And the guy they did have,
they decided let's go cheap hm hmm. That's a position
just like pass rusher anymore. You can't go cheap at
and you just can't. It's time to call him at.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
He is circling the drain and he has been killing
them the last couple of years.
Speaker 3 (34:12):
He's gonna have a better recommend the Jets, though. No,
I didn't want him now. I don't want this, Bill Belichick.
You kidding, I don't want that about Kirk Cousins. You
want Captain Kirk. I'm gonna have Aaron Rodgers in a
few years to be okay, he'll be the head coach.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
We get back into the biggest story in the NFL
coming up next now with six point game in Philadelphia.
Speaker 3 (34:31):
This is Fox
