Speaker 4 (01:30):
Well, you just know that I'd give you a swinging

but then I would do the thing.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
I would go on a podcast and I would just
build all this stuff I really thought about.

Speaker 4 (01:43):
You, and that's how it would go. We're go get
me some heat. Wow, look at this? Or will I
have gotten several years of a seven figure pay day
before you drop that dirt? Because if so, I'm good
with it. Oh no, no, no, no, i'd you won't
find any old rap videos or anything from me. I
can promise you.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
That you'll get you You'll get nothing out of this.
You'll get nothing out of the except wound except an
embarrassing few minutes. That's what you're gonna get.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
Well, it was a good run.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Yes, it is a Friday night. It is a great Hey,
It's a positivity Friday, no question about it.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Come on, you know what, I got the best laugh
out of a group of kids working at a place today.
I went and had to pick up my My daughter
was having friends over as part of birthday extravaganza. So
it was a Coldstone creamberry run for an ice cream
cake and the image she wanted on it. Because it's
become an inside joke, Amelia Earhart. Dude picked the thing

(02:42):
out of the freezer. Is seeing all sorts of cartoon characters.
There's this, there's that, Tomorrow's Batman Day, all of these things,
and he's like, the hell's Amelia Earhart doing.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Well? She's an aviation pioneer's trying to figure out what
happened to her.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
Yeah, but you know, normally not on an eighteenth birthday cake.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
No, no, no, Because for a second when you started
saying it, I thought you were gonna say Amelio Estevez,
and I would have been whoa, whoa, whoa Wait a minute.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
Only only if you were which one we're going, young guns,
we can.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Go in uh my mighty duck, mighty ducks, Amelia, mighty
mighty ducks. Yeah, cause that because that could reap oh no, no, no,
because Mighty Ducks compares to or or everybody knows him, right.
People who watched the reboot know it. They know if
you watch the classic in the early nineties, you know
they get they go both sides of it.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
Now it's like it's like Karate Kid and Cobra Kai.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
What was Yeah, that's that's what I'm gonna get from
my next month. The giant picture of williams Zebka.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
I don't know what. I don't know what I would
I don't know what I what.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
I find more more fun that that it was Amelia
Earhart on your daughter's cake, or if it was Amelio Estevez.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
I don't know which one.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
I think if it was Estevez, it would have been
kind of funny.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Ye would have been because it would have been like
his face, like with the autograph on it, like like
in the posters that you have.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
It would have been the autograph with oh it's on
the post.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
Or something from one of the magazines from the eighties. No,
I like that. That's good.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Now to get a slice of birthday cake, you have
to give me a good paragraph on Emelia Estevez's best
movie and why you thought it was his best movie?

Speaker 4 (04:11):
Is that a picture of Lou Diamond Phillips in the background, Luke,
can I have to slice with Lou Diamond Phillips. There
you go, folks showing our age having a little bit
of grab ass to get things started on Friday. So
much going on in the sporting world. Smith, so a
very active day once again.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
But speaking of rising again and being active, Aaron Rodgers
is out for the year, right. We saw it. We
saw it on Monday. He got hurt. It was sad,
it was awful, it was really really bad. I've had
to move past it, and I've done pretty well.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
Now.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
I'm getting ready for the Cowboys, and everything is great
except what happens today when Aaron Rodgers goes on Pat
McAfee's show. Oh, by the way, am I right when
I say Aaron Rogers is going to be around forever
because he loves the attention. Two days ago, the dude
had achille surgery and hey, I'm gonna do a live
shot as I'm recuperating because I want to be on TV. Right,

(05:11):
But just understand that's Aaron Rodgers right two days after surgery.
I'm ready send a live shot up. I'm good, I'm
ready to.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
Go, well, he knew it was a big Friday in Boulder. Yeah,
maybe the Rocks showing up on McAfee's show. I mean,
he had to at least stay on par with him.
I just love the fact that he talked about how
depressed and down and emotional and ravaging it was, and
on Friday he's all smiles. I don't know if he
had the goofy gas going or what allegedly, but look

(05:41):
like he was in right spirits. So whatever he's having,
that he can have a traumatic experience in his career
end before his very eyes, go through surgery, come out
of surgery, and be relaxing comfortably less than forty eight
hours later. I'll have what he's having, good gud. I'll
hope to go through our problems so quickly, so.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Relaxed and so comfortable, and you're thinking, Okay, I feel
good about him trying to come back for next year. Again,
it's gonna be different when he what he wants to
do and how his body responds. And we've talked about
that all week Longly, I want to be the guy saying, yes,
he's gonna be great next year.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
Roger's rod, but his body, how it responds, is different.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
That's you gotta wait for. But maybe we don't have
to wait until next year. Because Aaron Rodgers was asked, Hey,
so you're out, You're at your hour. Wait a minute,
Wait a minute. Are you sure you're out for the season.
Check out the exchange from earlier today.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
You know, we'll see you see what happens. It's there's
a process, there's certain markers we got to hit you
trying to say you're coming back this season?

Speaker 1 (06:44):
Yeah, what's happening here? Are you coming back for the
playoffs this year?

Speaker 4 (06:48):
I'm not gonna I'm not gonna make any of those statements.
I don't feel like that's that's fair to myself. I'm
just is it a possibility? I think, as Kevin Garnett said,
anything's funable, anything is possible, the great philosopher Kevin Garnett, Aaron.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Rodgers, nothing is impossible.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Coming back in less than four months from an achilles
complete achilles tear that normally takes nine months. But he's
already got it going. He's got a hyperbaric chamber that.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
He's gonna be delivered.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
He's he's listening to dolphins mating. Is Is that what
he's doing to try. I mean, these are all true things,
These are all we should play a game. Did Aaron
Rodgers really say or do this and just get really outlandish?

Speaker 4 (07:30):
But no, but he's I got.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
I got.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
That's a note that's true TV or not trad TV.
That's actually a really great No, it is fantastic. Pat
is part of his recovery, or is it not?

Speaker 1 (07:41):
But it is hyperbaric chamber. Listening to dolphins mating very soothing,
as he.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
Says, And I don't know what that sounds like if
he well, dolphins kind of sounds like a lot of
excited chittering.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
I think that's dolphins.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
I think that's a dolphins.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
Well, how's the second dolphins sound not as excitable. I
don't know.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
Well, I'm figuring, you know, I don't know what I've
I've never really seen video.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
Second dolphins seemed like they were just trying to pace themselves. Yeah,
I couldn't tell you anything. Think about baseball, think about baseball.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
I think about coral rocks, Think about coral rocks, coral rocks,
coral rocks down below, karl rocks down below. I've never
seen dolphins mating, so I wouldn't know exactly. I was
just trying to go, you know, one high, one low there.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
You know, I don't know the high low. I'm trying
to think about it in there. But hey, if a.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
If it's a Christmas present to the Jets and Aaron
Rodgers comes back for the end of the season in
the playoff push and getting in, everybody's getting a hyper
Barrett Chamber listening to Dolphins mating. Every single person in
the world with an injury. What are you listening to
the new Taylor Swift? Nope, Dolphins Mating. In fact, it's
been something becomes so popular. Taylor Swift is now re
recording Dolphins Mating so she can have the rights to
it to sell those. That's all people will listen to.

(09:01):
Why do we listen to the regular Dolphins? Taylor Swift Dolphins?
I don't know what to do. Everybody will do it.
It'll be the thing. Music. There'll be no music anymore,
no listen to music. I'll turn on I'll turn on
the radio in my car, no matter what channel I
turned to. Eighties, nineties, there's gonna be every other stage.
It's gonna be Hey, we're temporarily taking over. It's the
Dolphin Mating sound station right here. If you're recoup writing
from a bad injury, keep it right here for the

(09:21):
next hour of Dolphins Mating. Everybody will do it. Mike
is everywhere?

Speaker 4 (09:25):
Well, I think that actually happened in Treehouse of Horror
eleven where the dolphins take over.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
Is it really Treehouse eleven or did you just throw
that out there? Now?

Speaker 4 (09:37):
I found it really impressed if you just if you
knew that was Treehouse elve, No, it's it's Treehouse eleven.
I'm like, I know the episode, it's old. How far
back are we going? Yeah, Treouse eleven, where you know
there's all sorts of chaos related to dolphins. But yeah,
it is an interesting web that he weaves in terms

(09:58):
of things that soothe him that we're eiding in his recovery. Look,
I'm looking into one of those sauna pods. Suddenly one
of those showed up in my timeline after listening to
some Aaron Rodgers clips. So again, folks, don't tell me
the wall doesn't have ears. Man, All sorts of therapy
things started popping up on my timeline. Have you ever

(10:20):
tried this? How about this sauna blanket? What do you
think about these for compression, leg splints, for you to
sit while you watch television, all of these things. I
don't put it past. I mean, we just watched cam
Akers do his miracle run through and run back after
tearing up his leg something special last year, So all

(10:43):
of a sudden he was available. So who knows, who knows?
Crazy things can occur. He's working on a different level,
in some sort of inner piece whatever. Still thirty nine
going on forty, so Father Time is there looking at
his watch, tapping it and kind of smiling. But in
the interim it makes for great theater if your guy

(11:06):
can can write the ship here for a few weeks
and keep the thing in in line, right, If Zach
Wilson is serviceable and they can steal a few wins
to where they're viable and fighting for a wild card berth,
how great would that be for the NFL?

Speaker 1 (11:23):
Happy Halloween. Aaron Rodgers makes his return from a tourn
achilles tonight. I'll be serious with you, Okay, I'm not
going to be crazy at Halloween.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
That's a whole other thing going on.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
It'd be awesome, right.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
It's like Fred Quynn when that kid takes his achilles.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
I think I missed that episode of the Monsters. I
think I've said, oh, oh, you're doing right, so.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
You know what I'm talking.

Speaker 1 (11:46):
Here's the deal, here's the deal. Is he really going
to come back? No, I'll tell you exactly what he's doing,
what he's trying to accomplish, and why this is a
great thing.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
Rogers knows that as much as.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
The Jets are are moving on without him, Look they
got something a little special. I told you they're winning
ten games, are going to the playoffs with Zach Wilson.
They have a great roster, and they could have quit.
They could have they could have found a way to
lose a Monday night, but they didn't, and they wound
up beating a super Bowl caliber team opening week with
their backup quarterback playing all but four snaps. Right, the

(12:19):
Jets have a little something something. They're good. They're not
gonna quit, but there is going to be the bit
of man. Rogers instilled all of this in us. He
helped instill this winning culture, right because when he showed up,
you saw these That's that's part of the great part
of a show like Hard Knocks, because you get to
see exactly the impact that he hasn't. They walked around
him with hush tones and and and sauce. Gardner's given

(12:42):
him jewelry and Carrott Wilson saying, hey, am I talked
to my mom about you and all this stuff and
everything else. I mean, you see all this stuff, and
to lose him, Yeah, there's gonna be that bit of
all man, Aaron's gone, but you get this bit, hey,
never say never. If you if you can cling on
to hope that I could come back, if that helps,
because I'm sure it would help. I'm sure it would

(13:04):
booy the spirits of the Jets and their coaching staff
and the players thinking oh why, if anybody could do it,
he can. Look, he's moving in the hyperbaric chamber. He's
listening to dolphins mating. He's serious about this. He's doing
this for himself. He's also doing it for the Jets
because he knows if they think he's coming back, if
he's acting like I'm not going anywhere, they will keep
that part.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
Of the confidence that they need.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
This is why I say Aaron Rodgers will be a
head coach in the NFL sooner rather than later, because
he knows exactly what to do afterwards. Now is some
of this to help him, Of course it is because
it's two days after surgery and he's on TV. But
he also wants to make sure this happens before Sunday,
wants to make sure the team sees it. And he's
already been texting with Zach Wilson. They've been going over
the game plan and talking about it. He wants to show, hey,

(13:48):
I'm here and I'm still gonna help and I'm still
gonna be around, and that's a huge deal. And this
is what coaches do. This is part of what being
a coach does. He's already coaching this team right He's
talking about the playbook with Zach. He's all the This
is what he does. This is why head coach Aaron
Rodgers is gonna be coming when he's done playing. This
is an amazing thing that he's doing. And he's keeping
the jet spirits up, keeping them focused, keeping them thinking,

(14:10):
don't despair. I know he went all off season and
things are gonna be great, but we can still win
and we're all still gonna do this together. He is
gonna be a constant presence on the sidelines as soon
as he's able to walk or get around on a
cane or crutches, whatever it is. He's gonna be on
the sidelines every single week. He's gonna be at practices
with the Jets. He's gonna be going, he's gonna be

(14:30):
sitting in the meeting rooms going through everything. He will
be a constant presence. And again, most of the season,
he'll look like he's the head coach on the sideline
and Robert sala is just the enraged defensive coordinator. Right,
he will look like he is the head coach all
season long.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
Trust me on this, Trust me on everything.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
I just said, Twitter at how about a Fresco Mike
gets swollen down the Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Carmon Rodgers.

Speaker 4 (14:57):
Oh, I still want to be in your world, Perry
Positive Rogers. But this is all alltruistic and not and
not at all that the whole sporting universe had assembled
in Boulder and he wanted his two cents while his
boy McAfee was on site. No, not at all that. No, No,
you gave that if that was a giant piece of pie.
That's what you leave at That's what you leave at

(15:19):
a party. When you show up, you take the other
ninety nine percent, You say, well, I didn't take it all.
That's what you just did.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
The first thing I said was the first thing I
said when I turned the mic on, was that, hey,
here he is doing an interview two days after so
you none know about him, but you said it about
like it was a positivity looking him by.

Speaker 4 (15:37):
He wants to show love the Jets.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
Yes he does.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
He wants it to he wants to help himself. He
wants to help the Jet. Why do you think he
became quarterback of the Jets. I told you he wants
for himself. He wants it to win. That's what he wants.
He knows the team is good. He's doing the right thing.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
In this case, I can't.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
Not very often do the ends justify the means, right?
You hear that phrase all the time. Ends justify the means.
To the ends justify the means. In this case one
hundred percent, because the Jets feel Rogers are still there.
He is still with us, he's still our leader, and
he's just not gonna be on the field.

Speaker 4 (16:09):
But yeah, he's like is all said, Yeah, he's a
force coast. I was trying to figure out what the
healing word for Klingons was since you did say Klingon,
cling on that, you know, since he's all into space
and UFOs and all that, perhaps we can get the
Klingons in. But we'll work to that another time. Speaking
in the end, your positivity, Oh just so good.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
Remember that one from the Simpsons, The Klingons again with
the Klingons again. Tonight's show brought to you by a
Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes bundling easy and affordable. Get a
multi policy disc gout by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat,
ATV and more all your protection in one plays Bundle

Speaker 3 (16:48):
Aaron Rodgers NFL head coach.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
He's showing you how grad he is for that job
just by doing what he's doing today telling you. But
coming up next, speaking of Boulder, it will be the
mecca and the center of the college football un again tomorrow,
breaking down the controversy and the point spreads of that
game in all the biggest ones. Coming up next right here,
this is Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Hello, Welcome in side our two, The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon, Lifthtirack dot com studios.
Tyrack dot com will help you get there an unmatched selection, fast,
free shipping, free road hazard protection, and over ten thousand
recommended installers. Tyrack dot com The way tire buying should be.

(17:44):
Always got to look out for the font. It's one lesson,
Always watch out for the font.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
We take a big look at some of the big
NFL games coming up in about fifteen minutes. This week,
we gave you our picks Jaguars Chiefs. I like the
Chiefs to go to oher and two. Mike says, chiefs.
Get that w but just think about the I'm surprised
you you didn't pick with me on that because I
know you love chaos and there's more chaos Chiefs row
and two than that. The Chiefs are one and one

(18:10):
and it's well, they've righted the ship and everything is fine.

Speaker 4 (18:13):
No, I still have to analyze the game, man. I
can't just dip my finger in and start swirling it
around like I'm some kind of god.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
No, that's how you do it. If you put all
your stuff in and you say, Okay, here's my analysis,
and then oh wait, I'm sorry, I forgot to add
the chaos and it's this huge but I.

Speaker 4 (18:30):
Got this huge hands worth at least four points in
this one. I see what you did there, and I
like that, and it's nothing away from the Jaguars. I
do love that in week two, and we've got that
matchup because if you go throughout the slate, Jason, if
you look at the over unders for these games for
Week two, we got an awful lot of them that

(18:52):
are somewhere between thirty seven and forty one. Thirty seven
shut up? Uh so again hopefully they're all and on
the low side otherwise boring.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
Well, look, i'll give you this right now. Just go,
I'll give you this. I'll give you this gift right now. Jets,
Cowboys take the under.

Speaker 4 (19:11):
Take thirty eight and a half and pressure on that downward.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
I don't care if it's eighteen and a half. Take
the under Jets and the Cowboys under under. But we
have more NFL coming up in a few minutes. Now,
it's time to break down the latest on sunglasses Gate,
which is just so unbelievably stupid. And incredibly entertaining at
the same time. It's like watching Free Guy right, like,
oh my god, this would be stupid, but it's so fun.

(19:37):
I love Free Guy. Free Guy is great. He's a
character in a video game, but he's real. He doesn't
know he's real, but people think he's real and they
see this is stupid, but it's so much fun. It
was a day ago again, Colorado Colorado State the game
of the week in college football. Third week in a row.
Colorado is the game. As long as they keep winning,

(19:57):
they will be the game. Deon Sanders owns all of
college football right now. He's done it in one week
with one upset win over TCU. But things got a
little more interesting a day ago when Colorado State head
coach and Jay Norvell, who Colorado State the Rams are
twenty four point dogs to Colorado, decided, you know, I

(20:18):
want to make sure people know how I feel about
Deon Sanders, who's always wearing the sunglasses on the hat,
and you know I don't like that so much. So
he went on the radio and said, hey, guys, no hat,
no glasses for me. I do things the right way.
I don't care if they hear it. In Boulder.

Speaker 5 (20:33):
I told him I took my hat off and I
took my glasses off, and I said, when I talked
to growing ups, I take my hat and my glasses off.

Speaker 4 (20:39):
That's what my mother talked.

Speaker 5 (20:41):
So you know they're not gonna like us. No matter
what we say or do, doesn't matter. Okay, so let's
go up there and play.

Speaker 1 (20:51):
Yeah, maybe Dian will take his hat and sunglasses off
when he shakes his hand after the game.

Speaker 4 (20:54):
Hey, fifty eight to three, way to go, coach. Maybees
are now coach.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
So Dion has turned this into something that's an event.
Now we'll get to the whole. Hey, he made it personal.
Yesterday we were gonna go play a game, and now
Colorado State their head coaches made it personal. He gave
out sunglasses to all members at ESPN because game day
is gonna be there tomorrow for the game between Colorado

(21:20):
and Colorado State. Gave sunglasses out to them, to them
to the media. Gave sunglasses that's special, the prime sunglasses
that he sells to all of his players as well.
And Deon talked about it when he went on ESPN
earlier today.

Speaker 5 (21:33):
I don't realize not only were gonna kick the butt
because it's it's it's personal, but it's gonna be business.

Speaker 4 (21:38):
But it's also splitures business blinders to.

Speaker 5 (21:42):
Alive shade with blenders.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
This is one of the first lives.

Speaker 6 (21:45):
So they don't realize they just helped me with business.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
Who was it yesterday that said Colorado needs to make
sure they have business trips and every game can't be personal.
I I wonder if Dion listens to the show, because
that's a that's a pretty that's a pretty big phrase
that we said. They have to treat things like it's
business trip. We said a lot last night. Yeah, they
gotta treat things like it's a business trip because every
week can't be personal, can't be full of emotion, it

(22:14):
can't be this. Everybody rally to our side. It's eight
we're twenty four point favorites.

Speaker 4 (22:18):
Here.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
We gotta go win this game and then get ready
for the next time.

Speaker 4 (22:21):
I mean it, can you that, Jason? Can't you just
at some point you're gonna get your ass kicked and
if you don't, good on you. If you don't, good
on you. But at some point, you know, the the
hyping yourself of these all these other things, there is
going to be a team that's gonna match up with you,
whether it's Oregon next week or USC down the line,

(22:43):
whatever whatever comes. Eventually, you're gonna get a step up
in class to the opponent across from you, and you look,
you're gonna be able to find stuff to slight. We
cited it early with Pete Feedtech. You've already got landing
on tape with all the well, why does everybody care
that they're leaving the conference? They didn't win anything. Okay,
tell me that's not gonna be replayed nine billion times.

(23:05):
There you go. I cited it first. First. Isn't that
what they used to do on the message boards? First? Yeah? Ye, first,
So here I am. So they're they're gonna keep trying
to use that energy because it's it's part of his
coaching and especially I mean he's got to have some
reason that his son is on staff. I mean, Deon

(23:26):
Sanders Junior. That's all he does. He's the hype man. Yeah.
Well yeah, listen, he's a guy that comes up with
the one word phrase, one word or phrase that the
team has to repeat.

Speaker 1 (23:36):
But you know, but but that, but that's the part
that's the genius of Dion, right because yes, we've told you,
and you can't play every week like at the Super
Eventually your team runs out of gas, you lose, bad
things happen, right, That's why no team does what he's doing.

Speaker 4 (23:50):
Everyone.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
You can't make a game your favorite by twenty four
points personal again, your team is gonna get exhausted and
run out of gas. But the genius of Dion is you.
You don't need to be a great play caller. You
don't need to have some great offensive system. Coaches are
different and they succeed in different ways. And Dion's a
coach that we don't appreciate how good he is because

(24:12):
he's doing it in a way that we've never seen
somebody do it like this before. Wait, a bet rides
around practice on a golf cart and he wears sunglasses
and hats all the time, and he just gives inspirational speeches.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
Well, he does a little bit more than that.

Speaker 1 (24:23):
But you know what that works, right, If it works,
it's great coaching. And look at what he's done just
in the last couple of days. Now, sunglasses are a
thing you watch now every single game the rest of
the season. When they play at home, the entire crowd
is gonna be wearing sunglasses and that's gonna be some
awesome spectacle. Right, you thought you had enough. Well, there's
teams that have the white outs, they have the blackouts,

(24:44):
they have the redouts. So the oh we're gonna wear this,
We're gonna wear that. No, watch, now, everybody's gonna wear sunglasses.
Every single person in Boulder is gonna wear sunglass to
a game and it's gonna be an awesome sight and
it's gonna be something for the fans and the media
and the energy around the team to pick up. Right,
that's great, Right, that's great. You don't need to be
that master play caller. You need to be able to

(25:05):
coach with your strengths. And so far everything is working.
He's got people that are beating at his door saying, hey,
I want to come play for you in Colorado. And
he's got a team of dudes that show up from hey,
a lower division one and now here they are dominating
so far in what they've been able to do. Now,
the tough part of the season is coming up, but
he's got the attention now and everything is working.

Speaker 4 (25:25):
Everything is working great.

Speaker 1 (25:27):
I'll be really concerned about Dion if I start seeing
kids get upset, kids not happy, and how and how
that goes. If that doesn't happen, I don't care what
he does. If you win, you in right, you're in
Colorado to do. This is a team that won one
game a year ago. Dion shows up, hires the right people,
says the right things, presses the right buttons, and now

(25:47):
they're three to zero and the talk of college football.
They're in the top twenty five, and they're probably going
to a bowl game, and they'll be on national TV
every single week and they're the epicenter of college football.
So so far, Yeah, everything he's done has been genius.
If this was Nick Saban, if this was Jim Harbaugh,
if this was somebody else, you know, having some kind
of unbelievable right, it would be look at the genius

(26:09):
of this guy. But it's Dion and he's polarizing, so
sometimes it's hard to see. But this is coaching too.
I know a lot of people don't see it, and
I'm sorry if you don't, but this is coaching too,
because at the end, you look at where they're at.
Does he have players that are gonna go to the NFL?
Does he have players that are that are raising their
draft stock, Are they winning? Is he doing everything that

(26:30):
you want a coach to do. Yeah, Dion has been
the guy. He's been a genius so far.

Speaker 4 (26:34):
Yeah. What's been interesting is the narrative starts to shift
to is it sustainable. It's like, I don't care. We
got to get through twenty twenty three first, and for
what they're doing in the moment right now, it's all working.
You've got the special two way player and Hunter, You've
got the the glory of you know, you're looking at

(26:58):
Shdor Sanders and what he's been able to do thus far. So,
I mean you you're talking about some players who are
going to go and make some noise at the next level.
We're talking about it right now. He's assembled a great staff.
You're talking about guys, uh and getting up for each game.
Can you sustain? I don't know what happens when you
get a game where things go sideways. Well, the first

(27:20):
one against TCU was not a romp, right, I mean
that was just a back and forth heavyweight bout and
they outlasted and made one big play down the stretch
to seal the victory. Great now, I'm all I'm all
in for the game stuff. I'd have to wonder if
I were in the spot sitting at the dais and
he started flipping sunglasses, everyone, would I have the intestinal

(27:41):
fortitude to say, no, it's daylight, my eyes are pretty,
I don't need these.

Speaker 1 (27:46):
No, I think you would take a free pair of
sunglasses because you would sell them on eBay.

Speaker 4 (27:49):
No, No, well, but I would, But I would leave,
or I would leave them in the case because then
they would not be sealed, and you would wait.

Speaker 1 (27:59):
You would wait and see who left them behind in
the in the present, you would take them at you leave.

Speaker 4 (28:06):
You're saying that like it's wrong. If it's free, give
me three. I mean, that's the old rule of thumb.
And there's not a guy in a Fox Sports radio
business uh of top to bottom that would disagree with that.
Everybody else would have their hand out going gimme, gimme, gimme.
But I like I like what he's doing. I like
the theater. In the end, it's it's all about the Saturdays,

(28:29):
the rest of the build up. Eventually one of these
guys won't poke a bear or again, like we said,
it's already done. What's usc gonna do?

Speaker 1 (28:38):
Well? If they if they lose, it's not gonna be
because I'm saying this. I'm saying that they lose to Orgon,
they lose to USC, it's because these teams are better. Absolutely,
No longer do you see that as Hey, these are
games they're absolutely going to lose. Case like said, Colorado's
got some dudes. Man, they got some dudes. They're gonna
be able to score. And hey, USC's defense we know
is still not great. So it's it's not like suddenly

(28:59):
there out on this. It's just when it gets to
that point, right, if Dion's making every week personal and
every week is a super Bowl, you get to a
game where you lose big, what happens after that? The
low is really low? Right, So you make every week
that the low is really low, and suddenly your energy
is flatter because you lost that week, and maybe you're

(29:20):
your development and maybe you're you're I would say, your
practice and your attention to detail is not what it was.
It's it's easier to get negative when after you're coming
off a loss, if you're not playing well, when we
had all of this and now we lost, and finger
pointing starts, why do we lose this game? Because if
you talk while you're winning, there's no way you stop

(29:40):
talking while you're losing. You're gonna see, oh, well, our
defense needed to do this, or our quarterback needed to
do this, or I need to do that. That's why,
that's why it's so difficult to have that happen. So
it's not about, hey, they lose a game. It's going
to be because they're not good enough. But then what
happens after that? Does it Fester? Does it Snowball? Because
I'll tell you because I watched that happen to the Jets,
right because Rex Ryan was that guy. Rex Ryan was

(30:02):
every week as a super Bowl. And it's like, dude,
you can't do that, man, you can't. Once again, they
get to the two AFC Championship games in twenty eleven,
twenty ten, and twenty eleven, and right now people are going,
there's some millennials going, wait a minute, wait a minute,
the Jets got the two AFC championship games. Yes, look
it up, but yes, look it up after that. Because
he had success so early, he decided to motivate. Every

(30:23):
week was a super Bowl. Every week was And I
watched the last two years of ret Rex Ryan be
awful because the team would fall into a rut, or
he would motivate the other team when he didn't need
to do so, and it just didn't work. It's why
nobody coaches like that. It's why nobody does that and
makes it personal every week. Everything else Dion's doing, it's
Dion being Dion. They love it. The kids love it.

(30:44):
They love that he's their guy. They would they would
go into battle for him, They would do anything for
him because he's created an atmosphere that they all are
allowed to be themselves and reach their their goal and
be the best version of themselves they can be. I
get it. They love that. The rest of it's just
Deon being dal That part that's the concern. But people
are upset. All they're gonna do is play into his

(31:04):
hands with I don't like the sunglasses, I don't like
the hats on.

Speaker 4 (31:07):
The trolling.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
Okay, you want to keep trolling, see how it goes.
But outside of that, I'm telling you, Dion he's been
a genius so far because nobody's been able. I don't
know that there's anybody that would have been able to
do this in one fell swoop with eighty seven new players,
coming in and suddenly right away we're hitting the ground running.

Speaker 6 (31:24):
No.

Speaker 4 (31:24):
I mean this is a textbook for teaching going forward.
The changing face of college athletics, college football, and how
you build in twenty twenty three. New rules, new opportunities,
ability to transfer. All of these things play together, and
then you've got the cult of personality, the power that

(31:44):
is Dion Sanders, the magnetism there. It's the perfect storm. Right.
You had Dabo Sweeney. He's saying, Hey, they're gonna start
getting paid. I'm gonna leave. Well, he's still collecting a check.
So you know, when you talk about a guy, put
your money where your mouth is. He's still there and
trying to make things happen. A lot of other coaches.

(32:05):
Look at the basketball side, how many guys walked away
because the rules of engagement changed. It wasn't easy. You
can't coach and put teams together the same way. It's
a new world order. And he's the first guy walking
through that door on this level. And if people want
to keep poking the bear, it's just good for business.
As he said, in terms of getting all the sunglasses

(32:28):
out to everybody else. By the way, here's my partner.
Let me give them a shout out. Go to their
website now and get ten percent off with code Prime.
He didn't really say that. I just thought it was
the next the next letter. Look, we told you we're
gonna be infomercials on Thursday night football. What did you
see all yesterday? No, you're all that box around Chris
and everybody here. Let me tell you about these great

(32:49):
tortilla chips. Sure, so, next thing here, Coach Prime's gonna
be giving out discounts.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
No, and it sounded like it was legit, like, how
do they going to be listening going, oh, yeah, yeah, No,
coach Prime is selling that use the code Prime.

Speaker 4 (33:01):
Yeah, of course, it's not that far fetched at this point.
But legitimately, that's where we're at in this. And if
you're gonna poke it, poke the bear. Look, if they're
just playing football, it's not nearly the spectacle. It's that
you keep giving more opportunity for WWE shoot interviews and
creamy footage on a practice field. If you shut up,

(33:23):
that goes away. It's not the same same show. Twitter
it out about a fresco.

Speaker 1 (33:30):

Speaker 1 (35:20):
So we're gonna take a look at a very big game,
a game most of the country is gonna get to
watch on Sunday in the NFL. But Mike and I
made our upset special picks a few minutes ago. And
and Mike, you have the Patriots with the big win
coming up on Sunday, And I gotta tell you, I
see this completely different. I look at this game and

(35:41):
I see the Dolphins in a route, and it's the
game that turns the tide against Bill Belichick completely where
it's wait a minute, what is happening. We're zero two,
We show up flat for week one on Tom Brady Day,
we show up flat for a game, and all the
musical chairs. The game you played with the quarterback and

(36:02):
and and the questionable decisions and play with you played
it with the backup. You didn't play it with the starter. Yeah,
but yeah, well you didn't play it with Brady. Sure,
but on time you come up, you come out flat
on Tom Brady Day. Uh, it's it's it's stunning and
and there's no questions and there's no answers, and it's
a bad roster. And suddenly zero to two, especially losing

(36:24):
big because Miami's gonna put up so many points in
this game. This is gonna be the game that turns
the tide against Belichick, and it suddenly becomes almost a
fade of complete this is it for him in New England,
like like this is it true? Everything he's done the
last three years has not. He's not He's not become
a better team in three years now. Tom Brady's been
gone from New England for a long time now, right,

(36:44):
he's been gone for a while. This is not Hey,
one year one, we have to figure things out because
what did Belichick say, Well, we spent a lot of money.
We have to do it a different way. Okay, that's good.
This is three years now and you've not brought in
any talent. You you do not have anybody on offense
that the posing teams are scared of. I mean, I
don't know. Is Belichick tanking on purpose? And hey, we'll

(37:04):
win six or seven games just because I mean this
is three years have gone by and you've not gotten better.
And for a genius like Bill Belichick every day it's boy, Yeah,
Belichick was a great head coach, but maybe Brady deserves
more of the credit. And with every passing day that
becomes it. And when they lose Sunday because Miami is
Miami will get to them in a second. But Miami's

(37:26):
gonna score a ton of points and it's gonna it's
gonna be that game. Wow, we just got beat like
that by a divisional rival that we're looking. We needed
we needed this win. We needed to be able to
get a big w and we didn't get it. And now, okay,
things need to change and it's gonna be. It could
be an ugly last you know, fourteen fifteen weeks of
the season for New England after Sunday, Trust me, yeah,

(37:47):
I think.

Speaker 4 (37:48):
I go down the road and I would agree in
terms of the assessment of the wide receivers. Now they're wondering,
what's the report on Juju Smith Schuster's knee That it
could explode at any time. I thought was what I read.
I mean, it's an interesting way to describe a man's
body part and all, but it's the idea of that

(38:10):
part of the roster construction I agree with. But they
still coach up defense. They still play defense. Against Philadelphia,
they played pretty well. They gave away the seven points
on the the I n t for a touchdown, kind
of held him held him at bay. You know, this
is supposed to be one of the most explosive teams
and obviously growing payins New OC as we surmise that

(38:32):
could be the case. And I get it. I have
I have a great admiration and love for the speed
and effectiveness of the Miami Dolphins offense as well. But
ear muffs, they're not playing the Chargers, right, I mean,
let's call it what it is. Another team that's got
their injury issues again. I hope good things for Austin

(38:54):
Eckler from the you know, both the physical and the
emotional side, right, losing his agent this week. But Joe
Bosa is not playing. You already got guys missing from
the heart of your defense. It's not looking good. You
thought you exercise those demons both there and in Baltimore
and what he got, same old story. But the New

(39:14):
England they can still coach up defense. Offensively, Yeah, they're
offensive lines banged up. They're kicking the tires on guys
that are getting bounced around the league and seeing if
they can't cobble together or something. I get that, But
I don't think Miami's running away and hiding, Sure as
hell not on a Sunday night football affair after the
embarrassment of that first quarter and a half from last week.

Speaker 1 (39:37):
See, I think Miami might wind up being a top
two team in the AFC when it's all said and done.
It might wind up being Jacksonville in Miami. The Miami's
offense is so low, whether it can run the football
or not, they're just Tyreek kill is just unstoppable.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
And the rest of the offense flows from that. And
still whether Tua can throw the ball three yards or
four yards doesn't matter, right, they still get the ball
up and down the field, and they're just gonna get
better as the season goes on and their running game
gets healthier. I don't know that we're not seeing the
the early signs of an offensive juggernaut in the AFC
with Miami. I just and you know I'm telling the

(40:14):
truth because I don't want to see Miami do it.
I want to see the Jets win the division at
ten and seven, right, I want to squeak into the
playoffs and have a home game and all the time.
But man, Miami may wind up being not just the
AFC East champions, then may be a top two team
in the AFC.

Speaker 4 (40:27):
All right, Well, we're gonna wait and see. We certainly
watched their defense get carved up for a good chunk again.
Not looking for Alabama Mack and company to put up
thirty points, don't get it wrong. And that's the thing,
you know, We've got a very short sample size of
what they are and who they played. And we watched

(40:48):
the beginning of last year and it was rolling really nicely,
and certainly week one, Tyreek Hill was running for days,
could still be running for days now. He's talking up
a lot of mess about double team triple teams, as
if you know, he were Andre the Giant and those
classic matches like here's five guys that are gonna take
on the Giant. Let's see then, and may take that

(41:10):
many to cover him in the secondary. But it's a
curious matchup from me because I still believe in the
defensive acumen of the Hoodie that he's gonna put it
up there. And maybe that one week hangover off of
you know, the news of the breakup of his long
term relationship, maybe that affected him last week. Maybe from
a personal side, he was he was a little off

(41:32):
and Tommy was back in the building and everything else.
I'm willing to give it a one week pardon and
expect better things this week. And if not, then hey,
let's let's go off to the races with the Dolphins
as the new juggernaut. Since your team's not scoring any points.

Speaker 1 (41:50):
Oh no, no, no, We're gonna be a We're gonna
be a sixteen point a week juggernaut.

Speaker 4 (41:54):
You know, between the two teams they scored fifty. This
is like all the famous brothers in baseball. You know
they hit a one hundred and fifty two home runs. Yeah,
it's seven. That kind of thing. Twitter and out about
a Fresca exit.

Speaker 1 (42:08):
How about a Fresca exit Swelling Dome the Jason Smith
throw with Mike Carmen. All right, now, let's get to
the Cowboys and the Jets. All right, let's get to
the Cowboys in the Jets first of all, nine and
a half points, Yeah, give me the Jets. Give me
the Jets in the under, all right, I know the
the under. The under is what nine and a half points? Right,
it's the same as the point spread. Right, it's nine
and a half, nine and a half. You're over under

(42:29):
at thirty eight and a half. You easily give me
the Jets getting that many points and give me the under.
This is a game where you heard Jason Cole talk
about it and and you and I mentioned it earlier
in the show. Hey, the Cowboys are it's a home opener,
but the Cowboys can come out flat they put everything
into that game last week. Right, we're on the We're

(42:52):
on the plane ride and Micah Parsons is saying, we're
all talking about what we need to do to the
Giants and what we need to do week one, and
they win this game.

Speaker 4 (42:59):
Forty to nothing.

Speaker 1 (43:00):
Right, all they're thinking right now, no matter what you're thinking, No, Rogers,
We're gonna kill them. Zach Wilson's gonna it's gonna be
like watching a game when you were in high school.
You're playing an overmatch team and every third play was
a touchdown. We're just gonna show up, We're gonna roll
out of bed. We're gonna win this game. Not gonna
happen that way. The Jets defense is too good. It's
not like Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense was phenomenal

(43:22):
last week. It was big plays defensively, big plays on
special teams that got them the big win over the Giants. Right,
Cowboys defense is great. Don't go get me wrong. Cowboys
defense is great. But this is gonna be a game
where the Jets are gonna wear the Cowboys down over
the course of four quarter. It's gonna be a steady
diet of breist Hall steady diet of Dalvin Cook. They're
gonna keep mashing into the line even if it's not working.

(43:44):
The first couple of quarters, what are they doing? What
are they doing? And then it's gonna start breaking and
the Jets are gonna start ripping off big time plays.
Dak's gonna give them the football a couple of times.
They're gonna get a couple of turnovers. It's gonna be
a shocker, and the Jets are gonna crawl to this
because it's gonna be Hey, here's a big turnover. But
they can only get a field goal. Here's a big
turn they can only get a field goal. Give me

(44:04):
the Jets nineteen seventeen. They got a little something something
going on. They didn't quit on Monday. They're excited going
into this weekend. They're still full of confidence. They're not
gonna give up on this season at all. And everybody's
wait for the give up. Okay, no, Rogers, that's it.
This is not that team. They've worked too hard all
season long getting ready to be Hey, we're gonna be

(44:26):
the beast of this league. Okay, we're gonna have to
work a little bit harder, but we're all still in it.
That win on Monday over the Bills was absolutely huge.
I know it's tough coming off a Monday night game,
but trust me, the Cowboys are gonna be flat, especially offensively.

Speaker 4 (44:41):
Jets nineteen seventeen. I do appreciate you doing your best
to get a little high school musical in on a
Friday night. We're all in this together. Do the little
dance move while you're at it too, you know, the
get Zach Effron and Vanessa Hutchins out there and let's
get after it. We always celebrate the underrated Ashley Tisdale,

(45:01):
but when you get down to it, the big question
in this matchup is which quarterback gives you the ball,
gives you short fields right, who controls field position and
is able to then cash in? And I'll put my
money on the Cowboys to be more apt to do that.
I love your running game, there's no question about it,

(45:23):
especially Breesse Hall still on a pitch count or however
you want to term it at this point, probably that
ten to fifteen touch role for him. And then we'll
see what Dalvin Cook starts to become a little more
in earnest. But I don't expect that passing game to
get much of anything going and offensive, the offensive line
will be tested because you're not gonna be able to

(45:44):
run the ball, which means Wilson's going to have to
step back. Is it a two step three step drop
and get rid of the ball quickly? Yes, But otherwise
he's going to be wearing parsons like a suit. So
potential for problem. And I think that's where this potentially
gets out of hand for your squad. Not to mention,
you mentioned him before Zerline and the knuckleballs he was

(46:06):
kicking in week one. Now he's on the injury report.
Funny how that all works. Yeah, but remember the Cowboys
ain't healthy either.

Speaker 1 (46:11):
Brandon Cooks is dinged up, and suddenly, hey, who are
you gonna throw the football to? When Ceedee Lamb is
wearing sauce gardener as a coat. I just said that
you can't use the same damn an allogy. I just
did good, the original, good, the original.

Speaker 4 (46:24):
That's not even not even it takes now tomorrow morning.

Speaker 1 (46:29):
No, no, no, because Kirk Cousins could be a jet
I'm agree. Anyway, amazing that we saw that as many
plays today tell you know what, hey, you know Kirk Cousin.

Speaker 4 (46:42):
I was you. I don't want to tie you. I
was listening to that radio show and check on Twitter
and they just said to Kirk Cousins. They talked about
it Monday and then they really hammered it as when
they watched Kirk Cousins on Thursday. Funny how that all works? No, look,
and they're not world beaters down the down, the same
safety valves and every everything in the passing game that
they had a year ago. That's a work in progress.

(47:03):
So it is curious Gallup is back. You got Brooks
and Tolbert. Okay, fine, I'm just always worried of what's
behind Tony Pollard. Should he not be able to give
you twenty touches. That's not a week to week fear,
that's the season long? What else is behind door number two?
Because you can't tell me it's gonna be Douce.

Speaker 1 (47:24):
Fawn due von to.

Speaker 4 (47:27):
As great at story as it is. And Jake Ferguson,
I'm sorry, he is not the tight ends you've had
rolling up and down there these last couple of years.
So you do give up a little bit there still
all in I go twenty four to thirteen cowboys.

Speaker 1 (47:42):
Oh, look at you. Not believe you non believer. I'm
not a believer. Non believer.

Speaker 4 (47:46):
Yeah yeah yeah. Throw some sunglasses at me while you're attitude.

Speaker 1 (47:49):
Non believer, Mike Carmon, you are a non believer. J

preview of the NFL. How about a couple of teams
that can fall to oh and two not only be
oh and two, but have bad vibes coming out of.

Speaker 4 (48:33):
