Speaker 3 (00:52):
Do I really look like Brian Dable? There's a lot
of twittering in the hallway talk. You know that my
thermometer had might Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Yeah, yeah, you know you need you need to wear
like the the coach. What he wears, the like the
poncho like the coaches, Like a short sleeve windbreaker, the parachute. Yeah,
if you were the parachute. Yeah, yeah, you'd be very
Brian dab Less.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Yeah yeah, yeah, you're supposed to say you got to
put on a bunch of weight too, and you gotta
shave your head.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Well, the camera adds ten or seventy pounds, so I
mean you're fine with how many cameras are on here, Okay,
but you put on you put on the poncho, the
short sleeve pancho.

Speaker 5 (01:27):
Yeah yeah, sure, get the beard, the Hogan beard going.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Yeah, be's upset as you get at times over things. Yeah, yeah,
I don't get that. Your face gets really red?

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Was it really? You get really? No, dude, you get Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:43):
I have to start wearing makeup, especially when you drink
those caffeine drinks that Jason.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Well, I thought that was gonna kill me if I
thought my chest was.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Gonna what I what I When I know Harmon's mad,
his face gets really ready goes. You know it's not
my point, jerk, And you know that like like when
I start being facetious about things and you just get
mad because I'm.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
I'm trying to make a point. I waited my turn.
What I meant, That's not what I meant?

Speaker 6 (02:06):
You know that?

Speaker 3 (02:07):
No, I don't know that. Now you know that.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
When his sentences and Jason start with all scissor kick you.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
I'll sissor kick you in the back of the head.

Speaker 7 (02:15):
Old man.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Oh that's what I know. That's not And you throw
your pen down. You're a big I don't know if
you know this, but you're a big pen thrower. Like
I know that. When that's when you're met, you throw
your pen down. Sometimes it bounces, sometimes it doesn't.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
I've always been fearful of having too much force, of
throwing it through the glass like it was a three
D movie into the update studio. So I just throw
it down.

Speaker 5 (02:36):
You can always go Howie Long style and put it
through your fingers and then job Jason try to jab him.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
No, that could work. Allegedly that Jay Lazer said allegedly no,
actually said.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
Brian Dable a very upset Brian Dable Giants fans one
hundred and fifty total yards for the Giants tonight as
they fall thirty to twelve.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Look, we're gonna hear from him coming up in a
few minutes again. No more disappointing head coach first three

Speaker 3 (03:24):
It was a couple of.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Weeks ago we started talking about clarity in Major League
Baseball where the nationally Playoff looks like, if it's not
the Dodgers and the Braves in the NLCS, then something's wrong. Right,
That's where that's where we're at. You know, we took
it to the next level. Hey, if it's not the
Braves in the World Series and winning it, then something's wrong.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
This is their year.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
But we started NLCS Braves. If it's not Braves Dodgers,
then something is wrong. And after tonight again a very
workmanlike victory for the forty nine ers on a short week,
they score thirty points. The offense is good, the defense
is even better, I'll say this. And it's a couple

(04:05):
of weeks after we made our predictions for the season,
And who's gonna go to the NFC Championship game right now?
If it's not Cowboys forty nine Ers in the NFC
title game. Something's wrong, Like that's the level above everybody
else that both of these teams are playing at right now.
And I know the Cowboys have to survive without Travon Diggs.
But this is a really talented Cowboys team and we

(04:27):
talked about it last week after the Jets game. This
is a team that has what I have never seen
in the Dak Prescott era. They are motivated, They are
dialed in, and they want to and their focus they
know this is their year. They came into the season
like a house of fire. And then Dak Prescott said, oh,
people are saying I didn't do enough in that first game. Okay,

(04:47):
here's my best first half as a Dallas Cowboy against
the Jets. You think that they seem motivated in a
way I have not seen in the Dak Prescott era.
And when you finally put that motivation with all that talent,
this is what you get. Now you have the forty
nine ers, who are the most talented team right now,
top to bottom. The Eagles may have the best roster,

(05:09):
but what the Niners put out there offensively and defensively,
the Eagles have more problems than the Niners.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
So they're by far a much. They're a work in progress, right,
they're the paint by numbers. You're about halfway through, and
now you're wondering which shade of yellow you're supposed to
use because the passing game is not outside of a
couple of big plays to Devonte Smith this last game,
it didn't work. And rushing wise, I'm not banking on

(05:35):
DeAndre Swift to give me twenty five carries. No great game, Yeah,
don't get me wrong. Yeah, yep, you know there's still
a lot to be done, the loss of Stike and
still being felt. But succeed and proceed right, learn on
the fly, get the wins along the way. But those
are the three teams that are hands down, head and
shoulders above everybody else. And when we made our picks right,

(05:55):
the Giants I thought would be good enough to hang around.
And this is where we also get into a little
bit of the All right, let's make sure we uh
make our feet are solid on the ground as we
talk about this, because you can only beat who's on
the schedule. But this is like beating a couple of
preseason top twenty five teams for the Cowboys and recognizing

(06:15):
that midway through the season, they're just not good, right
the Giants of the Jets. By mid season, we might
be just going, Wow, those they're they're just terrible. You know,
so second but you beat and you bludging them.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
But you're talking about a team that scored the most
points in the NFL, allowed the least points in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Everybody, everything is fun. I'm dismissing it categorically. I'm just saying,
at some point we're gonna get a fair fight. Yeah,
but as it were.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
But the way they have come in this is this
has not been and it's still Dallas team. Meant, I
know this has not been a Dallas team mentally that
I that I'm familiar with. It's always been always Dak Enough.
What kind of identity do we have We're not sure.
But when you started hearing the stories about how going
back to the Giants game Week one, Micah Parsons and

(07:03):
Digs and everybody saying we couldn't wait to get on
the plane, we couldn't wait to go play this game.
I've not heard that from the Cowboys, not heard that
in the last seven years, not heard that. Now you're
getting it. And then and I was Okay, let's see
if they come out flat for the Jets. Guess what
didn't come out flat for the Jets.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
They came out.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
So we're gonna play downhill on you guys, and we're
not gonna throw one ball at Sauce Gardener because we
don't have to.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
And we're gonna go and we're a hug. Right, he
threw one ball at him, almost got picked and never right,
I'm not going over there again. Good, there is your chance.
On the side of the field, we're gonna run the ball.
And then the other side of the mill you got nothing.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
So that that's different from any Cowboys team I've seen,
and this forty nine Ers team making it as far
as you go. It used to be, you know, a
long time ago. You make it to the conference championship game,
you lose, that's when you pay your dues in the
next year. Hey, you take your bait of sure. Uh,
that usually doesn't happen anymore now, you know, every year
is different. Every year is more of a grind. If

(07:59):
you make it to a conference championship game one year,
it's because you're healthy, it's because things have worked out
for you and you get to bounce the next year.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Things right, Yeah, just as the Bengals. Right, Look where
the Bengals are right now. It's not working out for
it well, but the injury thing comes up fast at you.
Yeah right. I mean where you can go through fifteen?
Remember that Derek Carr, the famous line that we have
all the time, it's broke, it's broke. Raiders have lost
nobody to injury the entire year, and then your quarterback
goes down. Yeah right, that's a great year of the reck.

(08:29):
But I mean that's how fast things turn in the NFL.
You're having a charmed year until you're not.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
But the Niners, they are playing like this is unfinished business.
And we are in week two of the season like
we're down the stretching ready for the playoffs. The only
thing you worry about teams playing this well this early
is can they keep the emotion going?

Speaker 6 (08:48):
Right?

Speaker 1 (08:49):
Are the Cowboys? Can they keep this going all the
way through the season because it's so early. The same
thing with the forty nine.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
Forty nine ers. You're also talking a lot histories of
health for some of their key players.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Yes, Samuel gonna stay healthy. Brandon Ayuk has already dinged up.
He didn't play time.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Taffy's history history, like a lot of your key parts
on both sides of the ball have missed significant time
due to injuries. So it's the all right, can you
navigate a season fully?

Speaker 1 (09:18):
And in two weeks we get the game, we get
Super Bowl and a half because we get Cowboys Niners
in San Francisco to a couple of weeks on Sunday
Night Football. Uh, that's gonna be the highest rated game
of the season on TV without without a doubt, Niners
Cowboys Sunday Night Football, highest rated game, especially with both
teams playing as highly at a high level as they
are right now. But those are those are worries that

(09:39):
this is the NFL. It's not the worry I have
in college football Colorado. Deon Sanders go, these are kids.
You're trying to keep it a level of eleven, and
you can't do that all season long. This is the NFL.
So my worry is not that big a deal. You get,
you get lulls and you deal with them. But right now,
these teams have no problems. They have absolutely no problems.
Right we talked about the Cowboys and the and the
forty and and the Dolphins, being the best two teams

(10:00):
in the NFL last night, and you know the Dolphins
in the AFC forty nine ers right now, I would
have to say watching them play on a Thursday night
winning like this, because usually games don't go like this
on a Thursday night without their best receiver on a
short week when games are usually sloppy. To win like this,
that's a big deal. That's an eye opener saying hey,

(10:20):
we're locked in and dialed in right now.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
Yeah, take care of business at home short week. You
do have a wounded opponent coming in right who has
struggled through two weeks and no barklay two linemen down,
including Andrew Thomas. You know what, was he a number
three overall pick or whatever a couple of years ago.
So you've got all that and so yeah, you went

(10:43):
and took care of business like this. These are the
games that you fear a bit of a letdown in
Thursday nights, sometimes the wild card and who knows, but
for giant defender actually coming down with one of the
would be interceptions, Trent Williams actually getting kicked out of
the game before halftime when it was still close, is

(11:04):
that different? Right? If he gets thrown out, does the
game change at all? Because you know, if the Giants
are going to get a letter of apology, just like
your Jets did related to a penalty that shouldn't have
been in one case, a penalty that shouldn't have been called.
In this case, a guy who should have been thrown
out of a game.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
You know, it's funny you say that because this game
looked a lot like the Jets Cowboys on Sunday, where, hey,
you can see the Giants may have a little bit
going on here. They're keeping the game close, their defense
is playing okay, they're forcing the forty nine ers to
kick field goals. But in the end, this is a
Niners team that was playing downhill and they won, And yeah,
that would have been a big deal. And I hate
the fact that Jets get that phone. Hey, sorry guys

(11:44):
on that that big play on Sunday that turned the
game into the Cowboys favorite.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
Yes, sorry, we blew that. No, no, no, but it's still look.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
Eighteen instead of the Jets losing eighteen ten at halftime,
that's a ten to ten game at halftime. It still
want to come on in the second much different second half.
You go to the locker room.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
They weren't winning the game.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
Things can be different, things can be different, No way, Yeah,
it could be a different game differently.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
It's just all the you know, you have the adjudication
of these sequences, right, because we saw it with the
the giants called for the oh the weight landed on
the quarterback rule, giving the first in goal. McCaffrey owners
celebrate because you get a touchdown out of it, But
that would have they would have had to kick a
field goal, right, So, I mean you've changed the game

(12:34):
fundamentally in that moment. And then before the end of
the half you have the you know, the Williams punch
right after that that he doesn't get thrown out. Does
it change anything materially? Maybe maybe not. In an alternate universe,
maybe we can go watch that like we're in the
Marvel universe. But here we are thirty to twelve. Succeed
and proceed, and now you've got a few extra days

(12:57):
off with the giants that are licking their wounds and hopefully,
uh there's a bunch of hyperbaric chambers and and all
sorts of therapies to get guys healthy and right so
they can actually show some some semblance of the team
that was anticipated prior to the season.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
I'll tell you we could be like four days away
from the football season in New York City being canceled.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
Yeah, we're done next year, We're done, already talking about
the Knicks and looking forward to spring training and the
next spending spree by Coey. Yeah, did you see did
you see the.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
Story that now like like uh, the two big sports
stations in New York, like both could be going away
in next year, like ESPN has sold theirs. And then
when that happened, Michael Kay said, Oh, the fan's gonna
be out of.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
Business, bankrupt. Yeah, we're done, We're done. Everybody's gonna take
over New York. Come on now, there's no football anymore.
Nobody cares a team.

Speaker 6 (13:48):
Stink.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
It's all Micks all the time. Knicks, Knicks, Knicks, Knicks, Knicks,
Nix Nick.

Speaker 5 (13:52):
Your owner doesn't even know how he owns the team.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
No he does, no, no, no, he knows how he
owns the team. He just doesn't like owning the team.
Get it right, Get it right. If you to criticize
James owns them like he doesn't like owning that, well
that's true too.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
His band will be on stage for a set and ten.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
Twitter it out about a Fresco Mike, it't swollen dome,
Jason Smith, Mike Harmon, Lifmthtireck dot Com Studio telling you
it's not Niners Cowboys right now NFC Title game. Something's wrong.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend. His name
is Mike Harmon. You're gonna hear from Brian Dable coming
up in a couple of seconds. But you you want
to drop the Mike moment of all drop the Mike moments?

Speaker 3 (14:44):
Yes I do.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
It just happened in the postgame coverage from Amazon Prime
on Thursday Night Football. If you have DirecTV missed it?
Uh A guest showed up on set dressed up as
a former Civil War hero.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
Oh, just show up.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
On set dressed up as a Civil War hero?

Speaker 3 (15:07):
Was a John c Riley showing up like an anchorman?

Speaker 7 (15:10):
Two was mess? The Ghost of You listenes s Grants
was not the beginning of Wolverine with Hugh Jackman. No, no, no,
A very special guest showed up and I'm not lying.
Dressed in a Civil War outfit? Who was it?

Speaker 3 (15:25):
Andrew?

Speaker 2 (15:26):
Welcome to the show and thank you for being here.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
How have you been?

Speaker 2 (15:29):
Great? The war is over?

Speaker 4 (15:33):
And greater Frash Jose in California. Wife's quare good?

Speaker 2 (15:39):
The war is over?

Speaker 1 (15:40):
Andrew Luck showing up on set as Captain Andrew Luck.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
Could they ask him if he was going to come
back to football to quarterback the Giants?

Speaker 5 (15:49):
And Andrew Luck.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
Christopher Plummer was nominated for an Academy Award for his
portrayal of the former cow student who founded an oil
company and was an avid or collector.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
His massive collection formed.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
The basis for which museum located on a hillside above
Los Angeles.

Speaker 4 (16:09):
I haven't felt crushure like this in a long time.
I'm freezing a little bit, but it's the if I'm
not that is.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
That is correct? He's doing trivia well, I mean, you
have to show how smart he was Stanford guy and
anybody goes you know, the funny thing is have him
fight off with Ryan Fitzpatrick on the other side. Let's go.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
I have a friend of mine one of my good
friends went to stan Him and his wife both went
to Stanford. He's always always really good friends with with
their daughter and uh and they both went to Stanford.
And the funny thing is like at one time we
were at a party and a couple of times he
was able to tell people, Oh, you know, I went
to Stanford. And so it's become a running joke now
that every time we're hanging out and said, you have

(16:52):
to tell somebody that you went to Stanford sometime in
the next fifteen minutes, you have to find your you're
in and he does it. He does it every time
you go, hey, how you doing, Oh that's that. That's
my wife Marda over there. We both went to Stanford.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
Like he'll just say it. People who go to Stanford
love to say they went to Yeah, I love to
say they went to The folks like to to prode,
like if they know what I do for a living,
and they love to prod other folks. Hey, ask Mike
what he does for a living. Oh boy, yep, I
talk a lot, talk to Harmon. Uh.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
So we were gonna bring you Brian Dable, but instead
we have something better from Captain Andrew Luck to General
j Glazer NFL on Fox Inside are joining us right
now on the hotline, Jay, what's happening?

Speaker 6 (17:33):
Buddy and Table and I both share the same sexy.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
I don't know. Does your head get really red when
you're mad about a call that goes again and goes
against you.

Speaker 6 (17:45):
It's like looking at the mirror, except though no, these
days I don't want to be in that mirror. Yeah,
that's a little rough.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
Hey, also really rough for the Giants, man, I mean,
is this is this just? Hey, the Cowboys are great
and the forty nine ers are great or they got problems.

Speaker 6 (18:00):
You know, Look, I think they have a great coaching
staff over there. I do think they'll work it out.
But yeah, they got issues right now. It's clearity of issues.
But look, there's a lot of teams that kind of
have issues that come out of the gates. I've always
told everybody, Like last week, right, I was like, let's
not overreact. Let's not overreacts like week twelve, because it
really looked if you looked at the forty nine ers
last year, he would have said they're done. Teams off,

(18:23):
oh man, But back they're down to the mister irrelevant.
They're over and they killed and i'myteen Brock thirty, who
was again fantaut can I just you know, he was
more than they ever could have dreamed of. But they
jelled at the right time. Same thing here, Like there's
gonna be teams that look really strong and early on
they're going to fade out. People get their numbers. I

(18:43):
just think the Giants, they're so well coached that they'll
get themselves to.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
This the long run. Yeah, I look, I picked them
to make a big run, George Las Vegas, Jay, So
I hope you're right. But when you look at in
this game, banged up on the other side, Samford just
go click and no iyuk, But doesn't matter, yack the
tail of the tape and just playing bullyball.

Speaker 6 (19:07):
And who do you stop over there? Like if you're
gonna try and take away Chaffer on the ground, the
Kittle's gonna get you like he did to that. Like
so just you know, there's so many weapons. That's such
a picture poison offense. And look, Brock Perdy, you know
when I was out there with the camp, you know,
and had dinner with Kyl Shanahan and John Lynch, He's like, man,
he just gets me, he understands me. He's got it right,

(19:28):
He's just and you sit there and go, how could
this guy be the last pick of the draft. There's
so many outside elements when a player gets drafted by
a team, oh, whether they're gonna succeed or not, And
it just so happens where a lot of guys don't
click with a guy like Kyle Shanahan. When you do
click with him, like Matt Ryan in Atlanta that year,

(19:49):
and like Brot Perdy does year, you do special things.
Kyle Man Kyle different, He's special. He is special.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
Jay and Jaymike crazy thing. I know they lost Ravon
Diggs today. We'll get to that in a second.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
But am I all man?

Speaker 6 (20:01):
Am I crazy?

Speaker 1 (20:03):
The NFC the road to the Super Bowl. We're gonna
wind up with Cowboys forty nine Ers the NFC title Game.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
They both look at you.

Speaker 6 (20:11):
I don't know, because I know, hey, look you have big.
You went down to that. You could be one more
injury away from things to on an attack. I don't know.
I really like the NFL is about who is healthiest
last and who gets hot the latest. That's what it's about.
But it's the greatest reality show in the world. So
every single week we think it's a boomer bust and

(20:31):
it's just how it is. That's the reality of this.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
So as we we get the role into week three.

Speaker 6 (20:38):
The Cowboys playing great.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
Yes, well now they get to play someone not from
New York and New Jersey.

Speaker 6 (20:47):
And here's what I have from New York and New Jersey.
But the you know, I tell you what's really impressive too.
All you heard about was Doak Prescott an interception? All
you heard about. A lot of times you end up
putting that in universe more right, and so that it's
so much pressure and that's all you heard about. That's
all you heard about, and he's just not doing it.

(21:09):
Michae McCarthy's really done a great job over there calling
plays and I think simplifying it for him and using
the heck of Tony Pollard, which they should have been
doing for years.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
Jay Glazer our guests right now NFL on Fox, the
Jason Smiths are with Mike Carmon live from the tire
Raq dot Com studios. All right, Jay, let's get to
the incredible drama of the last couple of days, and
that's justin Fields and the Bears he's not happy with
the coaching.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
GM.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
Ryan Pohl said today, Hey, you know he's not a
finger pointer justin fields. What do you take away from
what you've seen and heard the last couple of days.

Speaker 6 (21:41):
Yeah, it hasn't been good, and you know it's and
you know out there in Chicago things are amplified a lot,
and you know I think that you know sometimes, look,
I think last year he had such a you know,
a breakout year. But you saw some really breakout skills.
So you're thinking, to let's really build upon that and

(22:01):
build upon that and build upon that. And sometimes you
do throw too much at somebody thinking he could do it.
But there's also Look, here's the thing about the NFL.
Like you know, they do at least consure forty our dash, right,
and if a guy runs at four to three, but
he has to think for like a second more, all
of a sudden he's running four eight. It was totally different.

(22:25):
And like and I told you guys like last week,
the Giants in two thousand and seven when they won
the Super Bowl, and I keep using this over and
over and over and I'll continue to use it. But
the first two games of that season, they gave up
their defense on the Steve Sagnola gave up I think
forty nine points in the first two games, and it
wasn't until like straighthan Jese Arms says that, guys, you know,

(22:49):
we've got to stop thinking out of here. We've got
to go. We It's like, we think we know what
we're supposed to do here, but if we think about it,
it's going to slow us down enough where they're gonna
get good it like they did for forty nine points.
You just gotta sometimes just go. And that's I've been with.
Justin Fields was trying to say, it's like, Okay, they
give me all this and I'm thinking about it too much,

(23:09):
and it looked like he was saying, they're making me
think about it too much.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
When it does ultimately fall on him, Jeff got to
ask the Obviously, I don't know if.

Speaker 6 (23:18):
He's I don't. But here's the thing too, Barry got
two number one picks, you know, first rounders. I don't
Going in the season, everybody was really really excited, and
I remember going to camp said, hey, you guys got
to kind of temper this. You're the first pick them
in draft and you've made some great trade but it
doesn't just get turned around like that. It needs to
be tempered. And even with that, I don't think they

(23:41):
knew if Justin Filder is their guy or not. But
that's that's another reason they went up and they they
you know, loaded up with this ammunition. You know, Ryan
Poles wasn't the.

Speaker 3 (23:49):
One who drafted them, right, certainly different regime. Ryan Bowles
also facing the other part of things. Jay, you're an
information man unparalleled in our world, and as a four
we're southside Chicago resident. What the hell's going on with
the defensive coordinator? Can you shed any light on it?
In that tight situation.

Speaker 6 (24:08):
I'm gonna let him answer that one. Those are those
are personal things that in a man's life. I'm gonna
let him answer that one.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
Jake Laser with us here Jason Smith, Mike Harmon live
from the tirec dot Com Studios. Jay, you could be
a politician with an m story that that's pretty good?

Speaker 6 (24:20):
You like that, right?

Speaker 3 (24:21):
Like I got nothing I'm moving on.

Speaker 6 (24:23):
Yeah, but you know what I actually I don't talk
about another man's business, like off the shield type business.

Speaker 7 (24:27):
You know.

Speaker 6 (24:29):
I'm gonna let him answer that one.

Speaker 3 (24:31):
All right.

Speaker 1 (24:31):
So obviously, Hey, some of the stuff you got going
on September suicide Prevention month. You had a special guest
on the Unbreakable podcast. Tell us a bit about it.

Speaker 6 (24:40):
Yeah, with you know, Sateline is our is our you know,
our title sponsor, and it's so great because we have
a bunch of celebrities on. But our whole thing also
is to really help people with this and to have
an expert on like we have this week, to really
help us through Like a lot of us don't know
what happens, you know, I think I don't know if
I told you guys or not. But I had a
friend of mine, well did fort on the podcast this week?

(25:03):
A friend of mine took his life this last weekend
and it was and I'm trying to and I'm trying
to villainize suicide. So I'm mad at him. I'm fist
and people go, oh, you can't be this. It's a disease.
I said, I can because it's his And like when
I do a lot of the work with with m
v P, I'm like, man, it's it's his power of suggestions.
If with today's day and age with social media, when

(25:27):
you know it's not just people like me who have
depression anxiety, who go through stuff like social media makes
us all take our lives suck, so all of a sudden,
like somebody takes her lives and you seem well his
love for someone like, oh my gosh, this guy like
my friend Billy, a lot of love for Billy. I
got really concerned for a lot of Billy's friends and
my friends and a lot of us around him, and

(25:47):
one of my my head, but one of my trying
to figure out. I can say this very very close
friend of mine who was associated with Billy was socially
be out there this weekend and and didn't go relitic
his life. And now my friend's beating up on himself.
So that's not fair. It has nothing to do with
my friend, Like, it's just not fair. So I am

(26:08):
trying to villainize suicide. So it can't be an option.
We'ren't a lot of pain, but taking our lives can't
be the option where we will put that pain on
our kids and our wives and husbands and parents. And
I always say, like, you never know what lies around
next Tuesday. You never know when you're gonna be one
that's just won away. Once something away from your life

(26:32):
turning around, or from you like, look, I'm fifty three,
I finally fell in love with Rosie. I didn't know
where's ever gonna happen, and I always sabotage thing. It's like,
you just don't know. So look, it's it's it's obviously
a hard thing to walk down. And when people ask, well,
what do we do for somebody suicidal? That's why I
had our get them from Taril onmo Sphet because I

(26:53):
don't know the anser. I'm not a therapist. I don't
know how to handle it. A lot of times, I
just know that, man, when somebody does take their own lives,
I kind of want And when it happens with our crew,
with MVP, with parting about some players, I warrant everybody
else listen. Can be the power of suggestion, because you're
going to see how everybody is. You know, have so
much compassion for our friend who and our brother or

(27:15):
sister took their lives, and you're gonna go, well, shoot,
I'm not happy with my life right now. Maybe this
can be an option for me. No, it's not an
option to you. It may not be an option. Our
first our lives are about our choices. Our first choice
has to be life and death. We've got to choose life.
We've got to choose life.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
Check out the latest podcast the latest Unbreakable, a mental
health podcast incredible guidance doctor Jessin Chattery from Carol on

All our best thoughts with you and everybody. Uh, we'll
we'll talk to.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
You man and ye have a great week, as great
week as you can, keep fighting a good fight again.
Mental health podcast Unbreakable by Jay Glazer, doctor Jessica Chattery
from Carolin how to approach a loved one you fear
is suicidal.

Speaker 3 (28:07):
I mean I was blown away by that. Wow.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
Jay lost a friend this weekend.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
That's that's amazing.

Speaker 1 (28:12):
That's unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (28:14):
Wow, devastating And certainly this month, try to be present
in your your friend's family. You haven't talked to folks
in a while, reach out, try to try to be
there right and just the voice. Uh, and and someone
to talk to, someone to lean on, someone to yell
about the bears or the Jets or whatever. The it's
little things that that can pick you up and and

(28:35):
and bring you back. But we'll make sure to evangelize that.
Check out uh Jay's Twitter account at jay Glazer.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
You know, and this is this is this is not advice. Obviously,
I'm not a I'm not a trained professional. But my
aunt is a child psychologist, and she deals with with
children of who have issues of you know, across the board,
the whole big the whole spectrum, uh, from from kids
who having trouble being bullied to kids who are having
suicidal thoughts, all of that. I mean, she runs, she
runs the gamut on it. And one of the things

(29:03):
she says, and I said, you know, what do you
tell this somebody? What do you tell somebody you think
is suicidal? And she told me and she said, the
one one thing that that that tends to that tends
to stick with that is that if you commit suicide,
the people you love the most in the world are never.

Speaker 3 (29:16):
Going to get over it. They're never going to get
over it.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
And and that sometimes stops people thinking, Okay, well, if
I love these people, I gotta I gotta try to
make it work. I gotta try to make this work.
And and and sometimes it does. Sometimes that's the thing.
And and I'm just telling this is what a doctor
who you know, she went to school for everything and
she's been a child psychologist now for you know, twenty years.
She says, that's something that that that I found sticks
for your your your loved ones, the people you love

(29:41):
most will never get over it. And and and that's
a that's a big thing again.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
Uh. Jay Glazier's podcast Unbreakable.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
Uh, you can download it anywhere, uh, anywhere you listen
to podcasts. It is there Apple iTunes. That's Jay Glazer.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
Okay, two things. One, when I hear this song, I
think about back to school. And secondly, this is a
song I always stop and listen to when it's on
the radio.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
I'm like, oh, I can't find a better one.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
Like I'm gonna listen to Oingo Boingo at dead Man's Party.

Speaker 3 (30:19):
I always enjoy it at the end of the live
Nightmare before Christmas thing they do here in Los Angeles.
That's fun. That's a fun day. Always do a little
Oingo Boingo set at the end.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
Wait wait, ty Shirt, are we into your Halloween playlist?

Speaker 2 (30:32):
Now?

Speaker 1 (30:32):
Are we getting there?

Speaker 3 (30:33):
We're actually getting close, all right. I don't know from
what I gather at some of the malls. You've already
got some Christmas displays, Christmas trees up at Costco. Christmas
is over at Costco. Now they're Intollo, They're Valentine's Day.
It's done. Costco's over. That's a fun don't know. They're
banging each other. Hey, Jason, that's a real thing though.
How do you just skip Halloween and already have Christmas up? Well,
they've always had.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
Costco's always had in Sam's Club and plays like that.
They always put the costumes out, but they never really
celebrate the holiday.

Speaker 3 (31:02):
Yeah, I mean because there's always giant buckets a candy
to be bought on a daily basis.

Speaker 5 (31:06):
So what's the difference there? Now, guys, I'm canceling Christmas
this year. Christmas is canceled.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
Phil Dudfy bringing the tree upstairs, Chris is canceled. Look
big blow for the Cowboys and we'll get back to
the Thursday Night game and the Giants in the forty
nine ers. We have to out ten minutes. Yeah, it
was a Giants and the Niners. Man, come on, dude,
suck it up. I'm sorry, we'll get to the Bears
in the craziness in Chicago. They should just cancel the
football season, do we have to?

Speaker 3 (31:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (31:32):
Yes, what.

Speaker 3 (31:34):
Huge blow.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
Biggest news in the NFL today, Cowboys cornerback Travon Diggs
out for the season torn acl mcl at practice.

Speaker 3 (31:42):
He's done.

Speaker 1 (31:44):
This is a difficult blow for the Cowboys because not
only is he one of the top five or seven
best cornerbacks in the NFL, he's become more consistent in
the last calendar year. Not a boomer bust guy like
he was two years ago with forty five interceptions and
he gave up forty five touchdowns. No, he's become a
much better, more consistent player. He also brings the Cowboys

(32:04):
the attitude he is. He is the mouthpiece of that
defense as much as we hear from Micah Parsons, the
guy who's got the chip on his shoulder and is
not afraid to stand up and say, Okay, yeah, I'll
take the heat. I'll talk about my guys. Is Trevon Diggs.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
Well, after signing that deal, that that was part of
the deal. Yeah, you get a lot of money with that.
Now you don't like Spider Man, Yeah, comes great responsibility
spider Man. Spider Man.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
But let's take this conversation in a different direction, because look,
obviously they're gonna hurt without him. But the Cowboys are
good enough to get by. They're not only that, they're
good enough to continue to win. Like they are winning.
We talked about it earlier this hour. They are more
motivated and dialed in than any time during the Dak
Prescott era. And I will this just I'll give you
my bold prediction in the next few weeks, as the

(32:50):
Cowboys continue to win, I mean they'll they can take
a week or so to figure out what they're gonna
do defensively without Ravon Diggs. But as the Cowboys move
on and continue to win, why all the talking heads
on TV radio start to start that Micah Parsons for
MVP campaign. I'm in on the ground floor. Micah Parsons

(33:11):
for MVP is gonna take off like a rocket. Look
how good the Cowboys are playing. Look at Micah Parsons.
Look at what he did last week against the Jets.
He's also starting to get a lot of headlines outside
of the NFL. As podcasting, you talked about, uh, you know,
a couple of big plays over the course the last
couple weeks in the NFL starting against some headlines that way.
Just watch the talking heads who want to say I'm

(33:32):
gonna be different. Micah Parsons is your MVP this year.
He's the Lawrence Taylor already getting compared to Lawrence Taylor
with the Giants. He's gonna get all kinds of run.
He's gonna be that guy. And you watch all the
daytime shows, radio shows. I'm telling you, Micah Parsons for
MVP is gonna take off like a runaway freight train
very very soon. Trust me, watch.

Speaker 3 (33:51):
Sitting there right now at fifty to one. If you
want to go down that road to make it happen,
try to make it happen. Current favorite is your man,
Tua Tounga Vi Looa at five to one. He has
eclipsed Patrick Mahomes after the first two weeks. You talk

(34:12):
about other non quarterbacks, so where you start looking at
McCaffrey and players like that start coming in. McCaffrey's even
fifty five to one, So Parsons even better than him,
better story. Now, McCaffrey, is he gonna be healthy? He
was healthy last year? Is he gonna be healthy all
the way through this? But in the end, right, if
the forty nine ers are doing what we think this

(34:32):
team is set up to do, it becomes a lot
about Brock Purdy, Right, McCaffrey would have to put up
some crazy ass numbers to be the guy to eclipse
the quarterback on his squad, Whereas in Dallas, Michael Parsons
has enough of that following coming into the league, and
certainly we've watched him dominate his first couple of years
in the league and all of the talk, the hype,

(34:56):
the super cuts that we get of him and his
play every Sunday. Sure, with the Cowboys brand, it can
easily get down that road pretty fast if they keep
winning and winning convincingly as well.

Speaker 1 (35:08):
Watch Micah Parsons for MVP. Just watch and remember we're
ahead of the curve. That should be the name of
the show. Jason Smith and Mike car Ahead of the
curve with Jason Smith and Mike Carmon.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
Now do we have a surfing thing, Like what are
we doing?

Speaker 6 (35:21):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (35:22):
Yeah, both you and I Yeah, oh, absolutely.

Speaker 3 (35:24):
Like Batman and the Joker. That time. Oh, I was
thinking more from point break, but that could work too. Okay,
the ex presidents are surfers. We get back into the
game of the night. Next, this is Fox.
