You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Bounce it back toward the middle, linking in a center
field a basin. Popejay's coming home the crown of the plate.
The Phillies are going back to the postseason. The rookie
Yo Hon rohus with an r v I single here
in the bottom of the tenth day.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
They win it three to two.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
You think that hurts? I just watched the Phillies in
the World Series last year.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
They might go again. Now, how does it feel to
have your entire division get to the playoffs?
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Except you?
Speaker 5 (01:03):
No? I know.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Look, every year an NL e's team is going to
go to the World Series. It's just not my team.
That's how it goes. Sorry, Buddy Greason, you just saw
Zach Wilson play Sunday. This doesn't hurt at all. I'm
used to it. I'm used to a lot of stuff. Man,
I got big ass shoulders, Man, I got shoulders. I
got like David Robinson's shoulders. Man, I got like big
(01:25):
shoulders because I shoulder everything with my teams the last
few years.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
Do you have the sleeveless shirt on so you could
show those off? Because no, no, no, no no, you're scared
of the development.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
No no, no guns out there getting a little getting
a little chillier in La the last couple of days,
you know, now wearing you know, a full T shirt,
not not a cutoff T shirt. So it's a little
bit chillier now, so you maybe have to put the cutoffs,
maybe have to put the put the guns away for
a while.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Put the guns away, but the guns under wraps.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
For a little bit, under construction for the winter.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Yeah you want to see him, bab, I'll show him
to you. We're live at the tirec dot com studios.
We'll help you get there at unmatched selection, fast free shipping,
Free road has a protection and over ten thousand recommended installers.
Tirack dot com The way tire buying should be. Well, yeah,
a little bit of baseball before we get into all
the big NFL drama of the day. The Jets avenue
(02:15):
quarterback Mac Jones definitively hit Sauce Gardner in the groin.
Everybody still hate Sean Payton, Oh yeah, yeah, But we
say this sometimes and sometimes it means a little bit
more than others. The passing of an absolute legend. Today,
the greatest third baseman who ever played the game passes
away at the age of eighty six. Brooks Robinson, Hall
(02:37):
of Famer, who set the bar so incredibly high for
anybody whoever wanted to play third base. You will forever
be compared to him, and no one will ever be
as good as him. The sixteen straight gold Gloves the
most ever except for Greg Maddox who won eighteen straight
as a pitcher, but a little bit more demand at
third base than a pitcher. And Brooks Robinson, who is
(02:59):
one of the big Titans and legends of the game.
We say farewell to him at the age of eighty six.
And look, I still remember, you know, when I became
a baseball fan, Like when I was in you know,
seventy four seventy five, started going to baseball camps, and
when I was seventy in seventy six seventy seven when
I was young, and they used to show all the
highlights of all the World series, Like afternoon was always
film time, and we got to watch like the MLB
(03:21):
Productions World Series, like we got to see like the
you know, the edited version of the World Series. And
I remember seeing I remember, I still remember the first
time seeing the nineteen seventy World Series that Brooks Robinson
made defensive plays. I still can't believe he threw guys
out from I believe a foot and a half from
the railing, and he would throw guys out down the line.
And that was my first indoctrination into what Brooks Robinson
(03:44):
was like. And and there's never been anybody like him.
There's been great players, Don't get me wrong. There's great
players as great fielders. You know, Aronato is terrific. You know,
Rolling is rolling was really really good. Nobody even close
to Brooks Robinson because some of the things he was
able to do, it was I mean, really, it's like
he was born to play third base. That was Brooks Robinson.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
He was the benchmark. He's the guy that you know,
was one of the great ambassadors to the game. Obviously,
me doing all the spots I've done in Baltimore through
the years. His name comes up a lot in conversation.
Had the good fortune of meeting him a few times
when I lived out in the East Coast up in
Cooperstown and the chats. A lot of guys liked to
(04:22):
gossip and tell you what a dirt bag you know
other people were. Brooks was telling you. Brooks was going
through stuff, signing books and whatever, and he'd be talking
about how great all these other guys were, you know,
what made their games so special, and the teammates that
he had for all those years. Meeleiak of the run
he had in Baltimore and ambassador on my timeline today
(04:42):
in the Facebook world, Yeah, I'm old enough to still
you know, have one of those pages. I thought it
was a day to go and traverse it a bit
because of all the friends and relationships back in Baltimore,
and every person was posting whatever autograph they had of Brooks.
So here's a baseball, here's a picture me and Brooks.
Here's the picture that I had him signed. Before I
(05:03):
took the picture with Brooks to then go and get
it signed, like it was like an inception kind of
thing going on. But he was such a part of
that community in their history. You know, it heard a
little today from the the idea of look at the
Orioles are relevant and dominating and ready for the postseason
for the first time in a while. And unfortunately, you know,
(05:24):
he passes away before he gets to see how this
particular story ends. But I know from those I'd talked
to and texted a little earlier, he had enjoyed the
run and the rise of all these young guys and
was still someone they counted on and called upon to
give some pointers. So baseball lost a legend. Today.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
They all gathered, the teams gathered outside the nine foot
bronze statue of Brooks Robinson inside Camden Yards, and you
can hear the emotion that players, as former teammates have
had about him. Here's a little bit of Jim Palmer thinks,
speaking of Hall of Fame players. One of the best
pitch of the seventies and eighties for a big time broadcaster.
(06:03):
He did Monday Night Baseball for a long time. Here
he is talking about Brooks Robinson, and I think that
he's speaking for a lot of people when he says this.
Speaker 5 (06:12):
You know, I got here when I was nineteen. Brooks
got here when when you know, in nineteen fifty five,
So we I think maybe he always knew what it's
like to be in the big leagues in nineteen and
then I think when you get to the big leagues,
you know, you got to get here, you got to
stay here, you got to figure out how to get better,
and then you got to decide who you want to
be like. And for all of us, you know, who
(06:39):
knew you know, we knew him. He was the best,
so you know, and just you know, the little things.
Everywhere I'd go, you know, I'd get a Brooks'd be
an autograph ball and I Brooks's day would be hones it.
Oh yeah, And he said tell him, I said, how
can we right right right so big because it was
a big city. But everywhere I'd go, people would go, huh.
(07:02):
We all know he's a great player, he won sixteen
goal gloves, but we also know how special a person
he was.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
And there it is. That was Jim Palmer. You can
hear him getting choked up talking about him. That was
on Mason on the broadcast tonight that they had going on.
It was Look, it's an incredible moment to be able
to spend time talking about a guy who clearly was.
When you're talking about people who are the best ever
to do something that's rarefied air, and when I say
(07:30):
the best third basement people, well yeah, okay, you know, yeah,
but there were other guys. Yeah, George Brett was a
better offensive third baseman. Mike Schmidt was a better offensive
third baseman. Brooks Robins still you know, wound up with
nearly three thousand hits, right, the guy had twenty eight
hundred hits. He was the MVP, won two World Series again,
he won the seventy World Series all by himself. There
was nobody better who ever played third base now in
(07:52):
the history of THEA in one hundred and twenty some
odd years of Major League baseball, there was nobody better.
And you could go look at highlights of him now
and go, I don't know how he did that. I
don't know how he made that play. How did he
get there? He doesn't look like he's getting there so fast,
but he's there. He's bare handing balls, swinging bunts, anything, nothing,
nothing could get by the guy. He was the greatest
ever to do that. And it's it's really something to
(08:16):
think about when when you are great, sometimes there's an
argument to be had, like as Tom Brady the greatest
quarterback ony, Well, some people are gonna say John Elway.
Some people are gonna say Joe Montana. Who is Michael
Jordan the greatest basketball player ever? Well, some people are
gonna say Jordan Lebron. All this, we had specific things like, hey,
who's the greatest third basement of all time? There's no
there's no other answer than Brooks Robinson. Like that's it.
(08:38):
It's like, you give me anybody else. I mean, hey,
David Wright was no, not David Right, No, Brooks Robinson
was the guy and he will always be that guy
in and to be someone I mean, look, I know
we're talking about him the day he passed away, but
he's someone. His legend is going to live forever. And
in fifty years from now, there's gonna be some hot
shod kid coming up in Major League Baseball, hopefully with
(08:59):
the who all of a sudden looks like you, wow,
look at this, you're a wizard at third base. Well,
you know there was a guy that played almost one
hundred years ago and named Brooks Robinson, and you've got
a long way to go to get to him. I mean,
that legend is going to live forever.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
Well, but you look at the fact that he had
that run of gold gloves from nineteen sixty through nineteen
seventy five when he was thirty eight years old, right,
all Star appearances, MVP voting won one, but a gold
glove run like that and just dominating a position. Today,
you saw the montages of all the greatness and noticed
(09:33):
they were all in big games, right. I saw a
stat that popped along and this goes back to you know,
baseball historians. You know, we've got our guys. Tim Kirchin
had this one that he had a record for games
with the lone RBI and won nothing wins with ten
in his career. I mean, that's kind of a cool
(09:55):
you know, Hey, we just keep going through the database
and see what kind of fun it's going to spit out.
But talk about a clutch player coming up with big moments.
And you heard Jim Paul break down. Mean their relationships,
what's fifty years fifty years at this point, right, Yeah,
So but you talk about going out and I thought
it was kind of funny right where he says, ah,
there's the big autograph. Yeah, that was always the thing, right,
(10:18):
if you were getting a multi sign thing, Brooks Robinson's
autograph was going to dominate it. But the stories of
you know, him just showing up at all sorts of
events around town, the openings for this that, the other
community events, and just being part of that city going
all the way back to the mid fifties. Man, I mean,
(10:38):
that's that is a life. And to your point, we
argue about everything. You'll you won't see a lot of
segments about greatest third Basement because you're wasting your time
trying to get to the top.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
Yeah, I mean remember it was that was in Sleepless
in Seattle, right when when Tom Hanks and Jonah Yeah,
first get the letter from Annie from Meg Ryan. She says,
the first thing you need to know is that Brooks
Robinson is the greatest third basement in the history of baseball.
And now this subject is not up for debate, don't
you say Brooks Robinson is the best?
Speaker 5 (11:06):
Dad?
Speaker 2 (11:06):
And Tom Meggs goes, that's because Brooks Robinson was the best. Like,
no one's gonna breaking any new ground on this. That's
because Brooks Robinson was the best. Oh that's One of
my favorite parts of that movie when.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
When they said Tom Hanks and the show a meeting man.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
I'll tell you Brooks.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
You know, and one of my friends when I played
softball with for a long time, he played third bat
like I grew up and I played third base, and
then I moved around a little bit, like I played
shortstop and I played center field. But when I played
an adult softball league in Syracuse, my friend played third
and I played I played short stuff, I played center field,
and uh, and my dad would come to all the games,
and every time they would hit the ball to him.
(11:42):
My friend was an okay fielder, but he made some errors,
and every time they would hit it to him, and
he would make an error, like the play would end
and my dad would.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Just go, Brooks, good play.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
And after like you know, like three or four games,
I'm laughing because I know my friend goes, why does
your dad say Brooks? Every time I'm I don't make
a play? Why he pisses me off? And I go
because Brooks Robinson, you know, and you're not making the plays.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
He goes, why shoul dad gonna treat me like that?
I thought he'd liked me any.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
Of your friends does make Walt out back start cracking
over the head.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Every time down the line, and I know, Oh he
tried to Olay, it didn't come up.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
I'd wait, Brooks, good play.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
Wow, Walt's just a menace.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
Yeah, that was my Yeah, my dad's like that. Yeah,
he's absolutely like that. I was thinking about that all days.
I could just see him in the stands his arms crossed,
wearing sunglasses. Brooks, good play Brooks. People on the team
thought that was his nickname. They started calling him Brooks
a little bit, and they didn't know. But I thought
like maybe that was his middle name or his nickname
(12:46):
was Brooks for something. Oh that was That was so fun.
That was a great couple of months there when nobody
knew what Brooks.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
That's just cruelty.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
Brooks.
Speaker 4 (12:55):
Good play Brooks, but an absolute legend. Check out the
video Monto. We'll make sure to retweet those out on
The X Factor. Wait, actually no, that was a show.
We can't claim that. Be sure to catch live editions

(13:37):
quarterback news in the NFL. So Alex Tyser just gave
me a donut. He said, would you like a pumpkin donut?
I said, doesn't donut doesn't have sugar on it. He
said yes, So I said, okay, and I tried it,
and it is.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
Are you allowed to eat donuts? Private pile? It is, no, sir,
because I'm too heavy. Sir, They're paying for it. You
eat it again again.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
I'll mean the first half of that movie maybe the
best movie I've ever seen. The first half of Full
Metal Jacket. I don't know there's anything that I've ever
seen as good as that. Then the second half of
the movie is good, But the first half of that
on Paris Island, oh my goodness. I don't know I've
ever seen anything better. But this doughnut is pretty good.
So now, I'm waiting for Alex Tyson. Okay, tell me
what's real. What's really in this? It's it's really ode
(14:19):
of pumpkin, and it's not really bred. It's something that's
from some sea animal that secretes it out of their
off of their skin, and it's gathered by fishermen and
it's wrapped in seaweed and it's really That's what I'm
having right now.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
That's pretty close.
Speaker 6 (14:36):
So past the Himalayan Mountains where the sea salt is
derivative of we went to the highly proclaimed mountain of
Mesozoic era.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
Okay, it's an actual mountains Okay, and it's dedicated to
the Messizotas. Then, like it'd like to have to pay
to get.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
In, No, it's free. Oh, it's free.
Speaker 6 (14:52):
They're actually actually happy you made it past the Himalayan mountains.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
So like they're just happy to see people because I
might not make it past the Himalayan.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
Mountains any don't like to you make that climb?
Speaker 4 (15:01):
Yeah, because a soft squad product, we could have some fun.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
The abominable Snowman. There's actually two abominable snowman's now the snowmen. Yes,
he'll be abominable snowmen.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
Alex, how much is this gonna help with Jason's digestion tonight?
Speaker 6 (15:14):
Actually a lot, because there's so many pure pumpkin in here.
It's so much fiber. This is probably more he's had
in a week.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
All RIGHTO, okay, you're welcome.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
So fiber in these doughnuts filled with sugar that I'm
sure it's not sugar.
Speaker 6 (15:25):
Well, that's actually some of the best sugar you can
put on there. It's actually organicane sugar.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
Organic cane sugar. Yes, okay, So I could just eat
this and I'll live to be one hundred and fifty at.
Speaker 6 (15:32):
Least a hundred and ten.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Okay, all right, I like that. All right, so you're acome.
You feel pretty good about that. That's pretty good. Do you
like it?
Speaker 4 (15:37):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (15:38):
I know I do.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
That's why I said there's got to be some catch here.
Why you gave it to me?
Speaker 6 (15:41):
Well, you'll probably feel weird in about forty five minutes,
but it's okay right now, you'll be right all right.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
Tell you which kind of weird?
Speaker 4 (15:49):
Man?
Speaker 1 (15:49):
Well, Hey you want to? Hey, my mom made these
plate of brownies. Man, they're really good. Just but don't
have too much. Ma, I just take a couple of bites, okay,
and then like save the red for later.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
Man, you do that?
Speaker 6 (16:01):
Well, the brand is called They're coming. They're coming, so
hopefully you'll be all right?
Speaker 2 (16:04):
All right? So right, who is it? Okay? Okay? All
I can think of this, The Red Coats are coming,
the Red Coats.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
That's where you need to go.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
Keep your head down that dead pat well, tj.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
It is Red October with the Phillies winning today to
get into the playoffs. So we will have more donuts
and more baseball coming up. But big news in the
NFL toay, and now I can tell you exactly what
is next. We spent the last twenty four hours, thirty
six hours talking about, Hey, what happened to the Jets?
How bad Zach Wilson is. It's the quarterback story in
(16:39):
the league. What are they going to do as a
trade gonna happen? We find out today the Jets are
signing Joe Montagne. We find out today the Jets are
signing Joe Montgue. We find out today the Jets are
signing Trevor Simeon to their practice squad.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
I forget where he.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
Played college football, but it could have been where great
the guy.
Speaker 4 (17:01):
In the next time I see you.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
Ah started the NFL for a couple of years, Uh,
you know, had a chance with the Broncos and has
been bouncing around as a backup. Uh pretty you know,
pretty well traveled, but has been been in the league
for the last years. Was the last cut by the
Browns as they went younger at their backup spot. And
now the Jets sign him to their practice squad. Now
what does this mean? Now I can tell you what's
(17:25):
now and what's going to happen going forward. Right, this
is why we're ahead of the curve, right, the new
show open ahead of the curve.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
Yeah, I got equal billings. So I'm getting ready to
go into the offices. Let's go.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
It's ahead of the well, it's your name is in
every open, your name is in all the open and
you're friends.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
What is it? A different thing?
Speaker 4 (17:44):
Different connotations? There's no whiff. We changed the conjunction.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Oh conjunction junction?
Speaker 1 (17:49):
Oh okay, all right, that mean okay, let's go.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
All right.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Now you say, hey, tell Ricky to make it with
instead of it. So Trevor Simmey in signet, what what
does this mean? This means that if there is an
emergency at some point in the next few weeks. You're savior.
I'm telling you what's gonna Stop with that. Stop with that,
(18:15):
because I'm telling you what's gonna happen. I'm gonna tell
you what's an emergency situation? This is Yes, you don't
think the Jets have an emergency situation? A quarterback.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Jets.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
Wait a minute, if I if I rearrange the letters
in Trevor Simeon, does it say like, coud it be
Jets Savior? Like is the word savior in there and
something else? I think all the letters are in there,
Trevor Simeon, you got you got savior? I think Trevor, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
you have savior in there. What are the other letters
(18:47):
at the letter?
Speaker 2 (18:50):
What? What is that?
Speaker 1 (18:50):
And what is that called an albatross? What does that
called when you when you do that you break it
up panagrams?
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Right?
Speaker 5 (18:55):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
But one of his nickname is T Money Sizzle.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Okay, you got T Money Sizzle. He is going to
be the emergency guy. You look at what happened on
Sunday where Zack Wilson was just awful. Well, okay, he
still gives the Jets the best chance to win because
all the other guys are washed, right, I mean, forget
Matt Ryan, Philip Rivers all, No, they're all washed, and
Trevor Simeon is no better. But you need somewhere to
(19:19):
go if something happens and you don't know if a
guy gets hurt. You need a third quarterback. The Jets
were hoping that they could get to the point. This
is why they waited so long to bring in a
third quarterback. They were trying to see what do we need.
We do we need a quarterback to come in that
will take the job from Zack Wilson when if he stinks,
or do we need a guy to come in and
be his mentor? Right, what do we need? What's the
(19:41):
best situation for us? And after a couple of weeks
they couldn't wait anymore because they saw, well, we were
crying out to take him out of the game on
Sunday and put somebody else in that can move the
ball downfield. So they settled for kind of a band
aid solution in Trevor Simon. Is he gonna be active
every week? I don't know if he's gonna be active,
And maybe he's active Maybe he's active over toim, maybe
he's a second string quarterback, but it doesn't matter. He
(20:03):
is a break glass in case of emergency quarterback.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
He is not the savior.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
He's not the guy that's gonna start for the Jets.
Why do the Jets do this? Because yes, they say
they believe in Zach Wilson. They're saying all the right things.
Right now, what are they gonna say, Boy, Zach stinks. Man,
this guy's table. They're all rallying around him because they
know for the next few weeks they have no choice.
Right it's easy to say, go get Kirk Cousins, Go
(20:28):
get Ryan Tannill, get one of these guys. Now, one
of these guys will be available by the deadline. There's
no doubt in my mind they will. The Vikings are
zero to three if they're looking at starting over. They
have young talent there on that team with Jefferson and Addison,
and hey, we'll get a quarterback in the top ten
of the draft because there's five or six good quarterbacks
coming out now that we like. Hey, if we stink,
(20:50):
will get that guy. Kirk Cousins is gonna help us
win games. The guy's been the best quarterback in the NFL.
The first three weeks, he has been absolutely outstanding, except for,
you know, hey, spike the ball at the end, you
know what you need to do. So but no one's
giving up on the season right now, even if you're
oh and three. Vikings aren't doing that. The Titans, even though, hey,
you know Ryan Tannehill's eh, they're not giving up on
(21:11):
the season because they don't know if their backup quarterbacks
are going to be any good. And you can't give
up when you're three games and you just can't. So
the Jets have to find a way to stay afloat
for the next four ish weeks as we get close
to the deadline, which is November first, and if the
Vikings are one and five, one and six and the
Titans are one and six something, the Bears are oh
(21:32):
and five, oh and six, and suddenly, hey, you know,
justin Fields maybe's playing a little bit better. But you know,
we're gonna move on after this season. There will be
players available, But the Jets have to stay afloat for
the next few weeks because you can only fire that
bullet once, right, You're only getting one guy, and the
Jets are hoping if we can be three and four
if we can be five hundred ish by the time
(21:54):
we get close enough to the deadline, if we need
a quarterback, and they will need a quarterback, Becauzach Wilson stinks.
If we need a quarterback, then we can go get one,
but no one's doing it now. So the only thing
out there now or band aid solutions, are guys coming
out of retirement, and they're no good right, They're not
gonna be any better than Zach Wilson. By the time
they get the playbook up to speed and everything else,
it's not gonna be worth it. So they're hoping that
(22:16):
we have what we have now and we can get
by because by the deadline, trust me, there will be
quarterbacks available because there's so many in the draft this year.
Teams are gonna say we will as we keep losing,
we will get one of them. Whether it's Caleb Williams,
whether it's Shador Sanders, whether it's Drake may doesn't matter.
There's lots of guys out there that we can be
okay with. We can move up, we can get somebody here.
(22:39):
We will do that because it doesn't behoove us to
go five and twelve doesn't move any team to go
five and twelve. You want, no, you want to go
three and fourteen, two and fifteen. That's what gets you
a quarterback. And teams know this, but they just have
to make it through the next four weeks. Let's say,
and then hope that a team with a quarterback that
they're okay moving on from after this season is ready
(23:00):
to deal a guy. And right now there are three
possibilities and they're the three that I just said. It's
Kirk Cousins, it's Ryan Tannehill. We said this last week.
Those are the only guys that fit what the Jets
want someone for this year, only because next year Aaron
Rodgers is coming back. Don't know him any more money,
they're moving on. And the third guy now is Justin
Fields because now you can tell Israel somebody's got to
(23:20):
go by the deadline there. And maybe it's ebra Flus,
maybe it's Justin Fields, maybe it's both of them, but
there's something there that the Jets now have another option
because if things continue to stay bad, you know, the
Bears are gonna draft a quarterback in the next draft,
and you're gonna find out every week of Justin Field's
now five and twenty seven, now five and thirty eight
is starting. He's five and ninety five as a starting quarterback.
(23:42):
So those are the three guys right now who could
be available in a few weeks. That list may grow,
it may shrink if the Vikings start winning a couple
of games. But I'm telling you that's the Jets strategy.
That's what's gonna happen going forward for the Jets.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
Yeah, we watch as it flows in Minnesota. Right game
that the opportunity was there to take it, Staley gave
him on a silver platter, and they said, no, no thanks,
let's screw this up. Let's run the clock down and
then not be able to execute. So all those one
possession wins of a year ago, guess what they're going
(24:18):
right back to twenty twenty one where they lost all
of those. Can that turn around? Yeah, there's a lot
of talent on that squad. Defensively they're trash, but certainly
offensively they'll be able to put up some numbers. Now
to the point of Simeon short term, he was thirteen
and eleven as a starter for Denver over two seasons
(24:39):
sixteen and seventeen oh and six his last six starts
over stops with your Jets, the first time the Saints
and then with the Bears. So he's seen the worst
of everything and now he gets to roll back into
what is a pretty good situation team wise up that
(25:00):
offensive line. And we have to be honest about that
as we flow, because people tried to dismiss it. You
tried to dismiss it. It's kind of a big deal
in terms of old old Zach Wilson. Now he's still
got to get rid of the ball. So he'll have
another couple of weeks here, some opportunities. But you know,
because you will get to play Denver in this stretch,
(25:20):
Jason is an opportunity there right there, all right, Denver
plays the Bears and then they played the Jets. They're
basically following up what you know, Kansas City got to
do and and whatever else, you know, just in an
you know, inversion of things. But we we look at
the three quarterbacks you mentioned, Yeah, Tennessee is falling apart.
(25:44):
Is Derek Henry Donner? Is he a guy that you
can trade?
Speaker 5 (25:49):
Right?
Speaker 4 (25:49):
Is there something there along with Tannehill and just remake
that roster all together. But I played with the anagram
because that's what it's called. That's what I thought it was,
but I wanted to make sure and verify. I played
with Trevor Simeon's name, and I came with Tireman's Savior
and since you are, you know, a tire fire dumpster
(26:12):
fire situation, it fits.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
And the tirec dot com studios. So we have all
that all fits and all fits right that.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (26:26):

It was last Ricky Martin had more hits hedrick Tour.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
Now you can go see him in Pitbull together.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
Name one other Ricky Martin hit. Cup of Life?
Speaker 5 (26:45):
Just like that.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
You just made that up?
Speaker 4 (26:47):
Yeah, a cup of live, that's pretty good.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
I had a cup of life then it tasted so
good I drank it.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
It tasted just like a chocolate check cup bove life.
It's a cup. It's a cup of Yeah. That's the song. Yeah, yess.
I actually found a song by him. It is called
Cup of Life.
Speaker 4 (27:08):
It's not.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
It's not swear you're all fired? Is this cup of live?
Speaker 4 (27:18):
Oh yeah, yeah, but you've forgot shake your bond, Bond
and the one that really made American American Idol the
the biggest thing.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
Are you playing this from Fenley's iPod?
Speaker 4 (27:30):
She bangs, she bangs?
Speaker 1 (27:32):
Oh baby, Hey, that's William Hung and the Hung Jury.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
I mean about that?
Speaker 1 (27:37):
Uh so yeah, okay, So now apparently because one hit
wonder Night was yesterday, we're gonna get one hit Wonders tonight.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
Okay, you can never have it? Sure?
Speaker 1 (27:45):
Uh now, look we told you last night, gave you
a bold prediction on Sean Payton that he's gonna be
one and done in Denver. Things are awful in Denver, right,
you talk about a team quitting like they did. You
don't give upset many points unless you've quit. Nothing has
gone well for the Broncos since the beginning of the
(28:05):
of the offseason. There's been no positivity. There was no Hey,
me and Russell Wilson are on the same page and
everything is great. No, there was none of that. It
was always criticism of Russell Wilson through the media. I
want Russ to be able to do this, Russia do this?
Why are you worried about your image? Russ All of
these things all right, The money can get figured out.
They spent a lot of money for him to get
(28:26):
him out, all about fifty million dollars. They traded a
couple of draft picks. When a team quits, there's no
way forward. There's absolutely no way forward. You're talking about
a team that's zero to three, and Sean Payton has
no answers. And now everybody is piling on right. You
hear all the all the talk the last couple of
days of meeting. Sean Payton is mad about what happened
in the NFL. Now you get the media in Denver
(28:48):
are not happy with him. Brandon Stokely, who's a former
Broncos wide receiver, longtime Broncos wide receiver, was really good
in the slot a few years ago and also with
the Ravens Now he's a radio host in Denver now
and he went on this show earlier today and said
that here's one thing that upsets me. And he says
go on to say he's a big Sean Payton fan,
(29:09):
but one thing that upsets him is that the local
media has been relegated the national media comes in and
they're treated one way. Quote you're their best friend. They
can have full access, whatever they want, whatever they need.
They've got local media. We've been relegated. All of a sudden,
everything looks different than in the past. And the performance
was awful. So now you have Sean Payton not making
(29:30):
friends with the team, not making friends outside of it,
not making friends with the fans, and now you have
the local media going, yeah, you make us, you know,
go through hoops for access and interviews and things that
we need to go forward and exists as a radio
station because local stations you need access to teams man.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
You need that.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
You need to be able to say, hey, you got
an interview with Russell Wilson coming up here, we got
Jerry Judy coming up er, Hey, Sean Payton's going to
join us, whatever it's going to be. You need that
kind of access. That's what people need to listen, you know,
to want to listen to. It's great to be able
to go on and roll up opinions and all kinds
of stuff, but you want to know, as a local
station you have some kind of access to local stars.
It doesn't always need to be oh football but it
(30:07):
could be. Hey, this local station. We don't have the Broncos,
but we have the Nuggets. So once in a while,
we're gonna get to hear from Nikola jokicch in an interview. Right,
we're gonna get Michael Malone's gonna come on the show.
Stuff like that you need. And now here's a local
media in Denver saying it's really really difficult. We got
to jump throughups to get this. Nothing is going well
in Denver.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
Nothing is.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
And I'm looking at a complete reboot and a blow
up of the team following this season. No more Russell Wilson. Oh,
but they're paying money. Yeah, they're paying them money. Guess what.
Aaron Rodgers got paid a lot of money last year,
and the Packers found a way to make a trade
with the Jets. Right, he's not gonna want to stay
where he's not wanted, where he thinks he can't play.
He will find a way to give back money and
get it from his new team someplace else. You can
(30:47):
trade Russell Wilson. They will part ways with Sean Payton already.
I feel like it's worse than it was with Urban
Meyer and Jacksonville. And we're talking three weeks too. I
don't think I got really bad for Urban Meyer until
you got like six or seven weeks in. This is
three weeks and I feel like it's worse than Urban Meyer.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
Mic.
Speaker 4 (31:04):
Yeah, I think we go back to training camp. But
we talked about it a bunch. You know, when they
eliminated the music, they eliminated the local radio shows having
a presence. Right Having gone up there for training camp
a couple of times in the past few years, there
were always, you know, the rows of little tents and
(31:25):
tables set up, and guys would walk over the practice
field from the practice field over and sit down and
do a couple of minutes. As you see with so
much right, Doug Gottlieb and his team, they get out
on the road each year for Fox Sports Radio a
little bit, and so all of that got wiped away,
like some of that access. And you can see it
(31:45):
if you go to the Denver Post or some of
the other Denver sites, blogs and newspaper sites. There's a
little bit of anger and vitriol that maybe you don't
get if you give a little bit of love and access. Right,
the kid gloves are off already. You saw it in
the the back and forth Peyton had after getting drummed
trying to ask some basic questions about what's going on there,
(32:09):
and he got really testy, and it's like, all right,
we get it your upset. You guys were terrible, and
as a coaching staff, you get an F for whatever
lowest grade you can't by the way, Denver and Chicago
easiest Monday columns. Ever, Oh I got a grade the team?
Am I limited to the usual school scale? Or can
I go down to Z for the performances that they had? Uh?
(32:31):
But yeah, it's it's really already turning. You got folks
asking for two dollars.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
I think I get into the game for two dollars.
Speaker 4 (32:39):
Advance Advanced Joseph still there, you know, are you already saying, hey,
we're playing for Caleb Williams, Right? I mean, all of
these messages are out there from a team, you know,
a city that is always was looking to embrace Peyton
on a whole other level. He may be back sitting
on a comfy Fox couch before long ooh.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
Man, one and done for Sean Payton in Denver exit.
How about a Fresco exit swollen dome? Jason Smith, Mike
Harmon live for the Tirack dot Com Studios. Coming up next,
you will hear from everybody's favorite quarterback, who said enough,
I have to break my silence and weigh in on
this controversy. It's coming up next, Right here, Jason and
Mike from the Tirack dot Com Studios.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
This is Fox Jets Yo
