(00:52):
the Lions. They beat the Packers thirty four to twenty.
They improved a three to one. Nobody better to break
this down right now? Joining us on the hotline NFL
on Fox Insider Extraordinary. You can follow him on Twitter
at Jay Glazer. It is Jay Glazer. What's happening man?
Speaker 3 (01:10):
What's going on.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
Now?
Speaker 1 (01:12):
I assume Jay you has spent all week figuring out
the Taylor Swift stuff. I mean talk calling people the
music industry. I mean, Taylor Swift has taken over the NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
You know, I'm just glad the Travis. It's something good
finally happened to him.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Yeah, it's been a rough show.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
Listen.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
I don't know who Travers Kelsey was in a previous life,
but he was like he was a great person, like.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
God has blessed him.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
He was like Jonah Sulk and now he's getting rewarded
in a really big way.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
I'll tell you my I think my favorite part of
everything last week, because it was such an unbelievable fun story,
was at the end when you guys were signing off
and doing your game balls, and you know, hey, here's
here's a great day for the TUA gets a game
ball here and Terry Bradshaw goes, you know, I got
to give the ball. You look, Taylor Swift's a big
fan of mine. She's bought all my albums, she's been
to my concerts. And I'm telling you, I'm watching going
(02:06):
Terry Bradshaw is doing. This is how big a deal
this was and how much fun it was for Taylor
Swift to be involved here, no no doubt.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
And by the way, when Terry's saying, we're all sitting
here looking him, going I wonder if this is true.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Whatever, you never know, absolutely true.
Speaker 5 (02:24):
But you know, coming out of that game, things starting
to get right for the Chiefs as one would expect.
And now Taylor continues to do charity because she's going
to show up to watch the Jets.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
Now. Oh man, good, hey, listen.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
Look, he is one of the really good dudes in
this league. He deserves. I am so happy for him.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
It was funny because when he was doing that dating.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Show, he was out Adam Breakable training at him.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
Breakable with us for all that, and I'm.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Like, man, now you're look at him now, taller Swift
years ago.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Well, weren't you his ass double in the dating show?
I thought that happened right, Oh.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
He was mine?
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Oh yeah, Let's get to tonight's game. We watched the
Lions win over Green Bay, and you know, watching this
Lions team, they just have this They have this sense,
Jay of this confidence about them that I've not seen
this Lions team have and that you know, that's Dan
Campbell on the way down. The belief that he has
(03:25):
in his guys that the guys have in him. It's
really something to see.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
But actually you saw it in the last half of
last year also, And you know what a guy like
Dan Campbell, I think coaches like this have so much
more of an impact now than ever before. And what
I mean by that is he's so incredibly authentic. What
is authentic in these guys live now?
Speaker 4 (03:50):
Right?
Speaker 3 (03:50):
They're online and you know you're looking at everybody else's
filtered action of a second on Facebook or Instagram or
it's not real or on Twitter you're just getting rushed
and have time at a bot like it's nothing real.
But when you have a guy like Dan Campbell who
was so authentic and his staff, by the way, I
like all the ex players are so authentic that like
(04:11):
the man, these young men just really gravitate to that
and go above and beyond. It's he's really you know,
a guy like him. Like thinking about for you guys,
if you're sitting there with Dan Campbell, I don't care
what job it is. Right, If I'm a course stenographer
(04:31):
and Dan Campbell was was my boss, I'd be way
better course stenographer than was before he was my boss.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
I like that the jobs at Dan Campbell knowing making
because Jayson likes to do that thing where he takes.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
Over that a motiv rate.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
He knows how when this guy's been it, you know,
he was a player. Even when he was a player,
I've been around. Dan Campbell says he was a rookie
with the Giants and even back then, like then, he
would like take care of other players.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
He was like the voice reason he's he's always.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Had this thing about him. He's always been like a
different guy. And you know people were always looking kind
of for that, you know, that next whiz for you know,
the offensive guru. But man, when it comes down to
you, you just want somebody that's going to lead your men.
And I think leading now is just different, Like what
what motivates you know, young men now is way different
than it was years ago.
Speaker 5 (05:22):
Yeah, on the other side, we've got you know, coach
Lafleur got into it a little bit with the press
after the game because they had another slow start. Jade
back to back weeks outscored forty five to three in
the first half. We've seen some other teams with this
same issue. How does that not get remedied resolved? I mean,
I want to give all credit to Campbell in company.
(05:42):
But on the other side, you got to cast a
little aspersion towards the Packers locker room here.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
Well you got you know, look, you got to try
and get that quarterback. You are going from Brett far
up to Aaron Rodgers to love right, and I think
everybody just said, Okay, well, he's just gonna be the
next great backup quarterback. This is They're not just great
pack up quarterbacks. You two are the all time greatest
in the history of all time.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
This right.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
So look the Packers that they need. Obviously Aaron Jones
Is hamstring is has hampered him a lot. I think
that team, really, the offense, really needs to go more
on you know what Aaron Jones could do, Like, it's
got to be all about the running game. Because remember too,
they were one of the teams interested in Jonathan Taylor.
They know they have to be a running game oriented
run game first for that team to work and for
(06:27):
this young kid to work out.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
You know you mentioned you mentioned Taylor and now you
know he's going to be coming off the pup list
pretty soon. Is there a trade on the horizon? Does
he go back to the Colts active roster. What what
do you think happens here?
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Well, look, I know folks would love for him to
go back there and play with that Anthony Richardson. You know,
at one point they said, well, there's a you know,
trade deadline. I had said in week one of Fox
NFL Sunday, Hey, they had put a trade deadline at
one point. But then that trade deadline's gone. They're open
for business, you know, if somebody comes and blows them
out of the water with uh, you know, attractive offer.
(07:03):
I think they do it. But I think their first
you know, their their their their wish is that they
could get everything good with Jonathan Taylor and he you know,
couldn't grow with Anthony richards That that's there. I know
that's what they would love to have happened. But you
got to still see if you know, things can work
out there.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
Take me behind the scenes.
Speaker 5 (07:21):
You guys all watching the Cardinals slap the Cowboys around.
What was the conversation like there?
Speaker 3 (07:28):
Well, I think the Cardinals just man, they figure up.
They came ready to play, and you know, I think
with the you know, with jobs, nobody was really giving
them a shot. When you have nothing to lose and
you don't care. You're dangerous. And it was like actually
in our meeting in the morning, a couple of us
in there, like, yes, it's the type of game you
kind of get a little scared about for Dallas, especially
also with the offensive line being as beat up as
(07:50):
they were. Sure, you know, that was like his concern,
and that offensive line has been beat up for you know,
quite a quite a bit here. They've got to get
that line healthy. Thanks, got to get that line healthy.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
Jake Lazer NFL on Fox Insider with Us at Jason
Smithshow with Mike Carmen Live from the tireg dot com Studios.
All right, Jay, following the big win on Sunday Miami
seventy to twenty, have you talked to Sean Payton this week?
Did you do? You not call him? You're giving him
some time?
Speaker 3 (08:17):
We texted a little bit. That was it, But no,
that was you know that was often no. I I went,
I went right after that game. I went to Young
Kiport for a day and turned my phone off. I
wish they probably wished that they were Jewish that day. Also,
turn everything else and I don't have to worry about anything.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
That's almost like a walk off line.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
But we.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
But you know, to that point though Jay I mentioned Lafloor,
he got the.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
Time anybody would ever be jealous of young support.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
You get me.
Speaker 5 (08:51):
Fasting and away from you know, not having the electronics.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Hey, I get it.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
Oh but through the first couple of weeks of this
he's in, Jay, it seems to.
Speaker 5 (09:01):
Me, players, coaches, everybody seems a little chippier.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
Something's just missing over there. And I you know, I
think Sean came in said I'm going to change everything,
change the culture and all that. Obviously things are just
not clicked over there and in any way, and I
think we're all just sitting there scratching her heads, surprised
by what's going on. But it's just like, man, this
is not there's certainly not playing like like we're used
(09:26):
to as a Sean Payton coach.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Team Jay, all right, before we let you go your
latest podcast. You got it big with Mike the miz.
Are are you headed to w W now? Like, what's
going on with you?
Speaker 3 (09:37):
Oh? Man? I wish dude. I was such a huge
ww SH and growing up I went to WrestleMania one
in Madison Square. Guard Muhammad Ali was the referee. It's
mister T and Hulkogan. Man, it was always great. I
loved it. And obviously, you know, I've had a lot
of friends in the business from you know, the Rock
to Batista to you know, A Big Show and Mark
Henry and the mizz and man I love them as
(09:59):
he's trained with us for a while and Unbreakable and
you know here but here's a here's a crazy story
about Unbreakable with like you just never know who you're
gonna run to. Over there, we're sitting there, I have
the Mis working out with Sean McVay in a Breakable
and they start talking. They start going, hey, where are
you from? Mis goes on, iow Ohio and John's like, oh, really, okay,
(10:20):
I went to school in Ohio. He goes, where'd you go?
It's Miami of Ohio And this is that's why I
went Miami of Ohio. Where you turned out these two
guys lived in the same dorm at Miami of Ohio.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
Like, are you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (10:34):
I said, Hey, man, whoever is doing your newsletter over there?
It's terrible.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
Yeah, they're really not tapping in the alums very well.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
Neither.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
What do you know this about each other.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Oh my god, he's great.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
So mis is great. He always looks he hes a
guy that knows how to man. Just now, I don't say,
reinvent himself and vent more and more and more. And
he's just grown over the years. And man, what people
do to become successful, Like you have no idea, And
he really explains them from all those little circuits that
he used to have to go to and wrestling when
no one's watching him building up these characters. You know,
(11:13):
we called a mental health podcast. I talked about mental wealth,
the things you have to go through to get successful
and constantly invent yourself. It's definitely well worth listen. He
was fantastic.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
Oh he's a hell of a heel. Man, I'll tell
you how that's hard to do.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
I don't know how we do. Like my feelings be
hurt if I was a heel and people say stuff
and he's like, no, I live for it. I love it.
I enjoyed being the bad guy. Well, man, I can't.
I can't do that. Man, I'm not able to do that.
That's a rare gift. Man.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (11:42):
I saw him get pinned by Snoop Dogg at WrestleMania
this year, so you know he's still trying to work
off that.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
He's an authentic to do though. Man, he every time
I've ever hit the miss up for something like charity wise,
he is like in two seconds, jumps right, and he
can't wait to do something. He is so authentic.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
What was it? He was it WrestleMania one, wasn't that Orndorf?
And and Rowdy Roddy.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
Piper right that cowboy Bob Wharton was in their in
their corner was in uh oh Cogaan and mister Chese
corner and oh Chunkyard Dog and the Iron Chic.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
And it was a great car.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
It's fantastic.
Speaker 5 (12:21):
Well, going back to close circuit television, I watched it
at a movie theater in Chicago.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
Know I was there though in the garden.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
One of the greatest days of my praying.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Well, I mean the greatest day was being next to
Terry Bradshaw talking about Taylor Swift. That's like your next greatest.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
You know, we're still waiting to see the which which
you know which time.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
I'm not going near, not going near.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
He's on Twitter at Jay Glazer, that is at Jay Glazer.
The link there again unbreakable. A mental health podcast. Great
stuff with Mike. The Miz Jay is always buddy appreciated.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
Man.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
We'll talk to you next week. See you, bro. There,
he goes, I tested with Sean Payton, but then I
wish they could have had the day off too. That
was a great hit me. That's a walk off line
right there.
Speaker 5 (13:08):
That's Broadcasting Hall of Famer Jay Glazer right there.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox is the number.
Jason Smith, Mike Harmon, lifrom thetirerag dot Com Studios. We
got more NFL on the way, including what needs to
Happen Sunday in front of Taylor Swift snaxt right here
Jason and Mike Fox.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app TJ.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
Last Night the Republican Debate. Tonight you hear from the
Presidents of the United States of America. TJ. Like many
politicians are one hit wonder well, you can only get
elected twice. Either you're elected once or twice or never elected.
That on goes. Don't want to be a one termer
(14:00):
outworks you want to try to repeat validate First Teacher
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon live in the
tire rag dot com studios. They had peaches. Oh is
that them? That was that was? That was potus. They
had hit one. Okay, they got lump and peaches. There
you go. They had kid to move into the country,
(14:23):
gonna eat a lot of peaches, and they had lump them.
She might be dead.
Speaker 5 (14:30):
I might have attributed that to some other bum.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
She's lump, She's lump, She's lump. She's in my bed, brilliance,
that's a lump. This just shows you that songs can
be about anything, and they can be good be about nothing.
At the same time, yes, the lyrics are completely overrated,
and hey, just just really quick, because there's a lot
of music out there for you to listen to for
all of us, and as I get older, it's tough
(14:54):
all this music out there. Don't pay attention to any
review saying the music writing on this album makes it gorges.
It's great because if the music sucks, it doesn't matter
what the song is about. The music's gotta be good
and the song can be about anything. That's what makes
a good song. It doesn't need to be something personal.
It's the most deeply personal album I've done. I'm reflecting
on my life. No, that's when I know the song suck.
(15:16):
Why do you hate Taylor Swift? I've got yeah. No no, no, no, no, no, no.
Relevant that was personal. Stop. No, I did not say
Taylor Swift has good songs, made this one personal. Taylor
Swift has good songs. Their songs are good. They have
a funky beat and I can bug out to it.
Taylor Swift songs are good. It's all the oh, the
gorgeous songwriting and the sor and now, what what are
(15:38):
you talking about? No, the song. If a song isn't good,
it's layered, it's deep. No, it's got to be good.
Speaker 5 (15:44):
It's like the music by You Too, not one by Metallica,
although you know the best was Chris Cornell doing the
mashup of those playing the music of one singing.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
Hey really quick before we into this big quarterback story
from today. Michael Gambon Oh Yeah, passed away at the
age of eighty two, who has had a long had
a long career in Hollywood in England, but of course
his dark side of the moon was Albus Dumbledore. The
last five movies in the Harry Potter series, he was
(16:19):
Dumbledore door. Yeah. Yeah, because Richard Harris passed away after
the second movie and he was recast and Michael Gambond
came in and took over. And I remember when that happened,
and because Richard Harris was such a good Dumbledore and
this this is one of the times when I started
seeing boy I really like when people bring different interpretations
to a role. Is that Richard Harris had the air
(16:41):
of authority, and he had I'm smarter than you, and
I need to talk and I don't need to talk
very loudly, talking in a whisper, and he was so powerful.
Michael Gambon was a little bit more, a little bit
more Dumbledore ish, because that's who the character was in
the book. It was, Hey, he's really smart, but he's
kind of absent minded, and sometimes he's strong, and sometimes
he's a little he's a little out there. And that's
(17:03):
what Michael Gambon brought to the role. And it's really
difficult to do. It's so difficult. And I really came
around to him after that and realize how what a
difficult thing that is to do forget about, you know,
the job that Ray finds it trying to bring Voldemort
to life, because like this is, you know, hey, how
you do it? There's a lot of pressure on this.
How about me bringing life to a role where another
guy already did it, and now I got to figure
(17:25):
out my own way around it and make the role
my own.
Speaker 5 (17:28):
And obviously the character, the person of Dumbledore changes over
time because I made really other than the free Load
and Grandpa in Willy Wonka, there really is no more
hateable character than Dumbledore for what he does to her.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Harry Potter, Yeah, you don't find it out till the
very end, but sure, yeah, at the very end.
Speaker 5 (17:47):
But he plays it, you like, with the nod and
the wink and whatever. Like you know, I'm not quite
breaking the fourth wall, but every now and again there's
just that little moment of in, hey, stay with me here,
you're gonna like this one. So yeah, brilliantly acted, go
through his long, illustrious career. Hell of a run though
eighty two man.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
You know, and and of all the same, look, Harry
Potter is a huge thing in my house. It's been
a big thing in my house for a long time.
And a lot of Harry Potter experience that that I
think average person go, WHOA, that's how many times you
read that book and seen that movie. But I think
of all the movie, my favorite scene in all of
the movies is the scene with with Michael Gambon and
(18:27):
Daniel Radcliffe when they're in King's Cross in seven Sorry
spoiler after Harry quote looking and King's Cross where it's
all white and and I've well, sorry I spoil it
for you. I mean it has been over a decade.
Where as this is as they say, your party and
that question that scene is so good. Is he the
(18:47):
same guys he Gandolf? Are they the same guy? Or no,
that's Ian McKellen So they're not the same guy. No,
not the same guy.
Speaker 5 (18:53):
Now Ian McKellen is Magneto.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
Yes, But Ian McKellen was the guy who was supposed
to take over for Richard Harris, but he said no
because those two didn't get along. And I think I
remember like Ian McKellen saying I'm not gonna take over
a guy that didn't respect me as an actor something
like that, like they didn't get along. So Michael Gambon
winds up getting the role and you know that scene
with him and King's Cross and he says help Lowe's
(19:15):
be given for those who need it, and and and
I've always prided myself on the ability to turn a phrase. Well,
it's such a great scene. It's that last song. Always
dependent on the kindness of strangers, You can always depend
on the kind of sub straightened journey.
Speaker 5 (19:29):
They've made it a musical number. How much greater would
that have seen? They have been, you know, because there's.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
So much in that scene with Harry and steep nose
and now if you're seeing Dumbledore differently, and the way
they both pull that off is an unbelievable scene. Of
all the scene, it's my favorite one.
Speaker 5 (19:46):
Now, I would say for those that are looking for
a little more in the uh the Wikipedia, you know,
you go through the the IMDb list of things, go
back and watch him in Gosford Park. That would be
a great role for you to see Michael Gambone. Gambon
at his finest, so a great ensemble cast. But he
(20:07):
was in Sleepy Hollow in the Aquatic Life of Steves. Yes, yeah, yeah,
so going down the line, a lot of comedies, but
certainly a lot of drama and most known worldwide for Dumbledore.
So yeah, a lot of folks will get into a
movie marathon, no doubt off of this news.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Michael Gambon Rest in Peace eighty two years old. The
Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen Live from the tire
Rack dot Com Studios coming up in ninety seconds. I
don't want to say this is a public plea, but
something that's got to happen in the game. Taylor Swift
is gonna watch on Sunday, but first it's specially delivery
Steve the Sega with what's trending in the wide world
(20:49):
of sports. He is watching the end of the Mets
game right now. How's it going, Steve rain all night?
Speaker 6 (20:54):
That's what we have games suspended. It'll be completed Monday
afternoon if necessary. The MLB regular season schedule ends on
Sunday Tonight. Miami, which has a chance for the last
wildcard spot and they own tiebreaker advantage over the others. Well,
Miami is leaving town because they play at Pittsburgh this weekend.
Starting tomorrow night, Cubs will be at Milwaukee. By the way,
(21:16):
the Cubs did lose again five to three at Atlanta.
Matt Olson, it's fifty fourth home run of the season
for the Braves. One hundred and thirty six RBIs now
a franchise record. By the way, Braves are locked into
the number one seed in the National League, Dodgers two.
The Brewers are locked into number three, but the Braves
did clinch home field throughout win number one oh three.
(21:37):
Dodgers lost at Colorado fourteen to five.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
JD.
Speaker 6 (21:40):
Martinez did hit a two run homer, so he has
one hundred RBIs now first time the Dodgers have had
four with one hundred RBIs in the same year. The
Miami at Mets game, two runs top of the ninth
gave the Marlins the lead, and that's how it's suspended
to to one top of the ninth and again if
necessary Monday afternoon they'll continue things well. Baltimore is much
(22:03):
better night and clearer. They clinched the Al East and
they beat Boston two to nothing. Five straight wins for
the Orioles, win number one hundred on their season. It's
a three game lead over Tampa Bay with three to go,
and Baltimore owns the tiebreaker in that division since they
won the season series against Tampa Bay. So as a
e lease champ The Orioles are the one seed in
(22:25):
the American League, so no best of three wildcard series
for them. Next week They'll go straight to the best
of five division series, and tonight the Orioles in the
state of Maryland, announced a new thirty year lease at
Camden Yards. White Sox beat Arizona today three to one,
Diamondbacks with a magic number to clinch a playoffs spot
down to one thanks to the Cubs loss Toronto and
Chris Bassett shut out the Yankees six to nothing, and
(22:48):
the late game at Seattle went to the Mariners. Somehow
two runs with two outs in the bottom of the
ninth beat Texas three to two. The Mariners had lost
five of their last six. This was the start to
a four game series to end the season. Mariners now
one game back of the final AL wildcard spot behind
Houston in the division. The Rangers are still first place,
(23:08):
two over Houston, three up on Seattle. In the NFL,
Detroit led at halftime at Green Bay twenty seven to three,
thirty four to twenty the final Lions record three and one.
Lions running back David Montgomery, back from a thigh injury,
had three short touchdown runs thirty two carries for him
one hundred and twenty one yards. Meanwhile, running back for
(23:28):
Green Bay Aaron Jones return from the hamstring injury. At
least he was active technically five carries eighteen yards. Christian
Watson was back had a touchdown. Devandre Campbell, green Bay
linebacker out with an ankle injury, and now Green Bay
tight end Luke Musgrave he left with a concussion tonight.
The Packers places tackle David Baktiari on injured reserve after
(23:50):
knee surgery. Jordan Love Tonight was sacked five times Packers
offense in the first half, twenty two plays twenty yards net.
Dolphins wide receiver Jalen Won is out of concussion protocol.
Saints quarterback Derek Carr miss practice again with his right
shoulder injury. Cardinals wide receiver Marquise Brown injured his thumb
in practice. The USFL and XFL announced they will merge,
(24:13):
with details about the Spring League coming later. There's college
football tomorrow night on FS one Top twenty matchup Utah
at Oregon State, and Golf's Ryder Cup starts again late
tonight our time. In just a few minutes. The three
day competition begins in Italy. Americans Jordan Speas and Justin
Thomas are on the bench for this opening session. The
(24:35):
US has not won the Ryder Cup on European soil
since nineteen ninety three.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
Back to you, thank you very much, STEVEO. Today, I
feel like every day gets worse and worse for the Jets.
It gets more more damaging, players get more upset. Look,
we spent the last couple of days hearing reports from
Jets insider Rich Samini that there's a bit of civil
war on the team. That players don't like the fact
that Zach Wilson is still playing. They feel like he
(25:01):
should be benched, other players playing as bad as him
should be benched, And so far Robert Salah has defended
Zach Wilson. You get Brecee Hall today liking a post
on X that takes a direct shot at Zach Wilson.
Someone tweeted out a thing what happened to Zach Wilson.
Breese Hall likes it. So you could tell there's a
lot of crazy ass stuff going on.
Speaker 5 (25:21):
Guys yelling at him as he's leaving the field about
how expensive their tickets are. Joe Namath doesn't like him
Jonas Joe Namath, who says I've seen enough of Zach Wilson.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
I can come out and throw I can give you
a good quarter and a half it. No, but he
says I've had enough of Zach. And this starts to
make me feel bad for Zack Wilson, because by all reports,
he's working hard to try to figure out what's wrong
and try to figure out how to fix things. He's
just not good and at this point the Jets have
ruined him because they've been drilling into him. Don't make mistakes,
(25:52):
don't make mistakes, don't make mistakes. Well, both our organizations
are the same. Yeah, just so, so change the principles.
Just just keep going. Just fields for Zach Wilson, right now,
Let's do it. Let's do it.
Speaker 5 (26:01):
Can you can you actually kind of like my skill
set na fields more.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
No.
Speaker 5 (26:07):
I just need him away from these people. You This
is one where I you know, you have those things
where it's like, I gotta get him away from the
bad people. Dude, you want he's trapped by the bad
people in Chicago. You want Caleb Williams, and Zach Wilson
will help you get Caleb Williams. Okay, that's gonna happen.
That's got to understand. That's the end of the year
for you right now.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
Yeah, but you might not want to go there, tell
me does it doesn't matter, doesn't matter, doesn't You gotta try, Man,
there's seven other guys out there you can get.
Speaker 5 (26:32):
You can get Trake may get your door. Sanders, you
like them, sugar, Sanders not coming. His dad's not gonna
let it. Yeah, I think at the end it's gonna
be Dad. Sorry, man, I gotta go. The NFL's is
I'm going the top five.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
I'm sorry. I love you, but I gotta go. You
tried to gotta win with a man that makes him
Sun number three, doesn't it? I think game it go
down in the rankings. I think you'd be okay with that.
Speaker 4 (26:52):
You think so?
Speaker 1 (26:52):
Yeah, I think so. I don't know. They put up
the whiteboard in the house. That could be a problem.
Did you really just say Sanders are the third best
quarterback in college? Oh right, he's right in that. Oh sure,
he's Nix is better, he's a risk. Pennix is better,
Penix is good, Penix is really good. Bo Nicks and
Bo Nix is in the right system. He was terrible
at Auburn. Now suddenly he's great in Oregon. Now he's
(27:14):
didn't right, says dor Sanders, is going to get a
good look at what a real quarterback looks like some
other guys. Caleb Williams, you're talking about as a j
is like the next Andrew Lucky being a genera generational,
generational quarterback. Because it's not.
Speaker 5 (27:28):
What you did there by the way, toy story game
can't wait for it. Yeah, did you see Lawrence wants
to be slink?
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Yeah? Are they going to sing? You got a friend
in me at the end? A friend met at midfield
at the end. But let me just say this because now,
look now I kind of feel bad for Zach Wilson
because now you had to sit in front of the
media today and and was asked about Joe Namath's comments
and this, Hey, what do you guys gotta do? Joe
(27:54):
Namas said you steak, you gotta be replaced. All these
things happened, Zach, what do you gotta do?
Speaker 7 (27:59):
He's he's obviously is, you know, one of the greats,
And so that says an offense, We've got to do
everything we can just to try and prove them on
keep doing what we can and improve. I think the
guys are feeling very optimistic. You know, we all believe
in each other. We're all right there, so excited for
this week.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
Yeah, I don't think anybody believes in you. But let
me say this, let me be constructive and tell you
what needs to happen on Sunday. Are the Jets gonna
wind up getting a new quarterback in a few weeks? Yes?
Is it their fault they didn't take care of this earlier. Yes,
we talked about that the other night. This is not
the fact that Zach Wilson's playing now. It's that they
should have moved on from him and gotten a better
backup quarterback behind Aaron Rodgers, because when a guy's thirty nine,
(28:36):
you have to have somebody back behind him ready to play.
And instead they decided no, Zach will be the backup,
which was just stupid. But what's the best thing to do.
I'll tell you the best thing to do. Right now,
you're playing the Chiefs. You're probably gonna get killed. Okay,
let's just be realistic, and Robert Salin knows the best
thing to do is just let him go, Let him go,
let him throw the football, Let him throw it deep,
(28:57):
let him take chances. If he throws four picks, he
throws four picks. But that's the guy you drafted with,
someone who is mobile and get outside of the pocket
and can throw deep, and can throw across his body
and use his arm strength to get you out of
situations that you don't find yourself in that you like.
And instead the Jetch have just beat it out of
him the last couple of years. Don't do don't make mistakes.
(29:19):
Don't make mistakes. Let him go. The one drive they
had last week where they scored a touchdown, what did
they do? They hurried up a little bit and Zach
Wilson went downfield. I don't think he threw more than
four passes overall more than ten yards in that game.
Two of them were on that drive. Just let him go,
let him do his thing. If he throws four picks,
he throws four picks. If he throws six picks, he
throws six picks. If he throws four, and you want
(29:40):
to take him out, you're losing anyway. But maybe you
catch something, and maybe this is what makes him better
because babing him and taking him along here and saying
don't make mistakes that ain't working. It ain't working. You
can't sell these that we're gonna give the ball to
Bresoul all this time, we're gonna give the ball to
Dalvin Cook, who looks washed. That's not going to work.
Let the kid go, let him.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
You know.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
If it doesn't work, okay, but you at least try it.
At least let them give them some kind of freedom,
run some kind of hurry up to to keep the
Chiefs off balance a little bit and maybe you can
win the game, or at the very least you get
Zach Wilson believing in himself that maybe can throw some
passes until the time comes where the Vikings punt on
their season and say, okay, what do you give us
(30:22):
for Kirk Cousins. We're ready to make that move.
Speaker 5 (30:24):
And in the end, the Chiefs aren't a world beating defense.
You can make plays against them, but you need to
open the offense up, as you say, take your shots downfield.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
The run game.
Speaker 5 (30:33):
They're averaging seventeen rushing attempts per game, and obviously you
didn't do a whole lot of that getting bludgeoned by
the Cowboys a couple of weeks ago. But It is
one of those points in a season where what you've
done to this point hasn't worked. You can't keep trying
to go back to the well saying this is going
to be the breakthrough. It's not your identity. You need
(30:56):
more Bresse Hall. You need to find some jail break
opportunities for him, whether it's opening up the screen game,
figuring out how to just get the ball in his hands,
you know, the jet sweep kind of situations, whatever gets
some speed to the edge. Dalvin Cook looks like just
a guy and why he was out there. But going
back to the roster construction at the beginning of you know,
(31:19):
Zach Wilson behind Aaron Rodgers wasn't a verse to it
for the fact that he'd learn under him in theory, right,
And then from all reports and from everything, Aaron Rodgers
is really jumping up and down to tell you he
was a good mentor and continues to be a good
mentor for him. And look, Rogers isn't a guy that's
(31:39):
going to play another five years no matter what he's
putting out into the universe. I mean, this injury might
not bring him back at all, we don't know. But
to have Zach Wilson. If he's able to learn, then yeah,
you might be able to reinsert and push him forward. Right,
that theoretical thing that Rogers proposed, Now that just got accelerated. Unfortunately,
(31:59):
Mike White got too much money to stick around and
the quarterback he would have been, it had to be
somebody else that could. Look Mike White would play great
the very first game and then he would turn into
an ordinary. Well, but the point is, who are you
bringing in that's going to be some savior?
Speaker 1 (32:13):
No, but you had to take you had to take
care of this in in the spring, and now you're
still going to Tannehill. Most of these guys that are
backups on team are backups and hanging on in the
league for a reason. Yeah, but if you wanted to
get a guy like Andy Dalton at that point in
the spring, you probably could. He was no, but you could. Hey, okay,
we got Aaron Rodger. Andy Dalton's coming into to play.
(32:36):
All right, great, and that would have worked out. Okay,
somebody liked that. As long as somebody could have come in,
then would right would know the system come right in
a place you could do it. Yeah, but we can't
do the revision as history. Now you were Jets, Jets, Jets, Rogers, Rogers, Rogers.
Now the world sucks and you're like, you know what
they screwed up in the off season, don't be that guy.
Speaker 5 (32:54):
Of course, you.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
Bunch.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
You should have gotten a backup and they had to
back up was Zach Wilson. He stinks Zack Wilson should
have been someone who they moved on from or was
third string. And saying you're not gonna play it all
this year? What do you mean, Jason? You guys are
winning ten games with him. We're making the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (33:10):
When we lay off ten games all in the game. Wait,
when we get Kirk Cousins, everything is going Now, you're
making Kirk Cousins. I don't think Savior comes out of
He's the best quarter back in the NFL, the first
tame and Trevor sim Simeon actually is tireman Savior.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
You can't spell Savior without Trevor Simmons. Oh no, you
can't spell Trevor Simon. That's what it is.
Speaker 4 (33:31):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
Coming up next, we got the play of the night
and a bold proclamation about the Lions. Keep it right here,
Jason and Mike Fox.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

of fans do the talkin Yeah, play the tape.
Speaker 4 (34:11):
You don't know crap about fool am I even owning
this crap?
Speaker 2 (34:14):
Whoa, whoa, whoa whoa, that's the wrong tape, wrong tape?
Just forget that.
Speaker 4 (34:19):
Look.
Speaker 8 (34:19):
Listen to the Folly of Tony Pusco Show on the
iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 1 (34:28):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. Sure, I got to play the Day
come in your Way in a couple of minutes. But
after watching the Lions beat the Packers tonight thirty four
to twenty. Uh, it was a great first half by
the Lions. A craptastic first half by the Packers, the
Lions have enough to not just hold on to the
(34:50):
second half, but still win by a couple of scores,
a couple of fourth down conversions they pick off Jordan Love.
The Lions are legit. I wasn't kidding when I picked
them to go to the super Bowl in the preseason
because their offense is loaded, and not even counting tonight,
David Montgomery. He had a great volume night. I mean
he averaged three and a half yards of carry right,
(35:10):
thirty one carries for one hundred and ten yards and
three touchdowns. That's a John Riggins night, not from like
nineteen eighty three.
Speaker 5 (35:16):
Not bad for a guy that at nine ten o'clock
this morning you didn't know if he was gonna play.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
That's true. You have no idea.
Speaker 5 (35:21):
And so what we're seeing in across the NFL. If
you've got a guy that you can slam the ball
into his gut twenty plus times, what do you do?
You shorten time of possession for your opponent. You move
those changes. Right, because he's falling forward at a three
plus clip, Gibbs came in and gave him a couple
of big plays and spark, but still not a guy.
(35:45):
They're ready to hand the reins over to a nice
return for David Montgomery.
Speaker 1 (35:49):
But this is the thing, is that the lines are
not nearly the team they will be by mid season,
and they're here, sitting here at three and one. Gibbs
is gonna have a bigger role in the offense. He's
much more explosive, Gonna get Jamison Williams back, and suddenly
you're adding him to a wide receiver room where you
have i'm On Ross, Saint Brown who is terrific, and
Josh Reynolds, who is Jared Goff's guy. Suddenly Laporta has
(36:11):
become as the rookie tight end, right he Look one thing, Look,
Iowa doesn't score a lot. We know this, but they
produced tight end. Sam Sam Sam. I mean, look, the
Lions are a legit Super Bowl contender and right now
they're one of the four best teams in the NFL.
We get forty nine ers Dolphins.
Speaker 5 (36:31):
Should we do this segment five?
Speaker 1 (36:33):
Top five? We just do top four. Get those fours up.
That's how your Super Bowl pans out. Your pick with
the Lions, you're gonna be able to go to eight
mile without security. Oh I'm I'm moving to Detroit. They're
gonna they're gonna give me the uh eminem is gonna
give me his house if I if I get down
the line, you gets the old trailer. No, no, no,
come on, man, his mom's still in it. You me
(36:54):
and Keith, you we all went to the same school.
Yet No. Look, Detroit is legit and everybody got to
see that tonight. You know what else, they got shit
NFL Super Bowl contender.
Speaker 5 (37:06):
They were also the beneficiaries of the fact that the
Packers don't seem to come out in the first half
of the game plan. Yeah, we've got other teams like, look,
the Broncos don't know what to do after fifteen plays.
The Packers don't get started until after halftime. If you
could still they get their if.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
You could may even merge those teams together, that's a
great team.
Speaker 4 (37:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (37:26):
I mean they get their orange slices and whatever a
halftime and they come out feeling good. But they were
also the beneficiary of an ill time Lambeau leap.
Speaker 4 (37:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
Look, second call that penalty. You gotta know they're gonna
call that penalty. That just when the Packers got a
little bit of momentum in the second half. You gotta
call that penalty. They're gonna call that penalty. You gotta
know you can't leap. Leaping is out. I don't get it.

Well play the night. Number one. Guess who's going to
the playoffs as champions of the AL East. One and
one two out spaces clear ninth, think two nothing else.
Here's the one to one pitch round ball. They helped
(38:18):
it third base Arias has got it six throws. You
can stigate everybody.
Speaker 4 (38:24):
The Orioles in twenty twenty three are many leggiest champions there.
Speaker 1 (38:30):
It is Oriols Radio Network on the call, even though
they suspended me. I love the arm the call. Look,
I told you the beginning of July. As great as
the Rays are their run differential, they were the best
team in baseball. All they have done here the Orioles
five games back Orioles are going to win this division.
(38:52):
Put it on Twitter. Here was three months ago. I
told you the Orioles they have even though they're young,
they have a great eight head on their shoulders. They
play the game the right way. They don't get too
high and too low like young teams do. They're gonna
win this division. Here they are now. If you got
Orioles futures. When I said at the beginning of July,
congratulations do you. I wish I did, but I was
(39:13):
right on the radio. So that's a good depth.
Speaker 5 (39:15):
And when we look at that offense, you got a
lot of youngsters in there, and they're not banking on
one guy to be a hero. No, right, so many
lineups in Major League Baseball you got one or two
big stars. And we've watched it here in Anaheim forever. Right,
everything's got to run through Otani and Trout when he's
on the field, which he doesn't do much anymore. But
(39:35):
you know, this is a fun squad. They've still got
more guys coming up through the minor leagues. They're gonna
be around for a while.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
Speaking of heroes, how about play the night Number two
and the one one on the way to Crawford swinging
a fight ball in left field. Back of the ball
is Turner on the run.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
It's over his head on the track.
Speaker 4 (39:52):
Up the ball and up one.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
Rubles score two runs, will score Cow scores. Dylan Moore
scores oh one for JP.
Speaker 1 (40:01):
Crawfords, Marener's Radio network.
Speaker 3 (40:04):
On the call.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
Now, just a game out of the playoffs. My World
series picked from the preseason. The Mariners are alive by Carmen.
Speaker 5 (40:11):
Like rising from the grave. It is almost zombie time.
Speaker 1 (40:16):
Coming up next my buddy Ben Mallar. This as Fox
