Speaker 3 (00:55):
Well.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Right now, America is watching this game between the Lions
and the Past.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Are they really yes?
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Well, well maybe they still are, or they were in
the first half, or they were for the first quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
Maybe they and they were watching.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
They were saying the Packers, Wow, twenty yards of offense
in the first half. Wow, twenty seven to three. This
is what a Jets game must be like. And I
would say, yes, exactly, this is what a Jets game
is like. I would say a Bears game as well.
But really, because the uniform is green, you can kind
(01:28):
of squint. Jordan Love looks a little bit like Zach
Wilson a little bit. Yeah, because of the green squinting
year you're looking to me, I can get beat. Yeah,
this is what a Jets game. Congratulations, everybody going, Oh man,
I take back everything I've said about Jason Smith and
the jetsaw this is what he has to watch every Sunday.
Oh man, I feel awful for the guy. This is
what a jetskin. This is what Jets have looked like. Well,
(01:50):
what did I tell you yesterday? Now, all the Taylor
Swift stuff she's doing charity two weeks in a row
bears into Jets Man that she's watching it, so the
rest of America doesn't, and it really, you know, does
lend some credence to There's got to be at least
a liking of Travis Kelcey to come.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Out of that. That's true love. That's true love.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
Those hours lots of other memes going around. It's too
early in the night to get into those because there's
some subruder film stuff that people are asking some questions
and having their jokey Jokerson thing.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
What's going on?
Speaker 4 (02:26):
But this Thursday night football thing an absolute disaster? Is
the Packers no show for the second straight week?
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Look right now, it has been all Detroit. Jared goff
Is thrown for a buck sixty three in a touchdown.
David Montgomery. This when you say, hey, what does it
mean when you're a volume running back? Yes, it's David Montgomery.
For some reason, despite the fact he's averaging three point
two yards of carry, keeps getting the ball for the Lions.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Can you tell that I have Jamier Gibson fantasy?
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Can you tell Jamier Gibbs can't run forward or pass
block and that's why he's not on the field.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
David Montgomery fifteen carries, fifteen yards, two touchdowns. But it
has been all Detroit. Their defense has kept the Packers
not only off the field, but Jordan Love just does
not look like the same quarterback in the first three weeks.
He doesn't look as decisive in the pocket, his receivers
aren't as open. The Lions are getting to him, They're
(03:17):
getting in his vision they're getting in his passing lanes
and he has just not been the same guy.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
He has had chances, he's airmailed it, right. He had
Dobbs on what could have been a huge gainer if
not a sprint to the end zone. Then he just
overshot him on a ball in the first half back
when it was still a game, well, when it was
still a game.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
The game a game we were talking about practice, not
a pride. But but that's the thing, is that And
for everybody who's gonna jump up and down on Jordan
Love right as the Packers do have the football they
are driving right now, is that Jordan Love is exactly
who we said he was all season long, exactly who
said he was. He's gonna move the team passing the
football and with his legs. They'll throwing they need, but
(04:00):
just not all the time because he's not that guy.
They need their rushing attack to be able to compliment
him and they'll go forward. Now they've got lucky the
last couple of weeks because aj Dillon's been bad, no
Aaron Jones, They've still been able to move the football right,
It's still it's still been a positive experience for Green Bay.
So far because they've played pretty well. But you are
seeing now, hey, when you're playing a team that really
(04:23):
knows what you like to do when you can't run
the football. And Aaron Jones hasn't been in the game
since midway point of the second quarter. Don't know if
we're going to see him again after maybe tweaked his
injury again. When you can't run the football, a team knows, Hey,
this way you like to Yeah, it's gonna be make
it really really difficult for you.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
But this is who Jordan Love is. When the team,
when the team, when the offenses is be.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Able to fire on most of their cylinders, not all cylinders,
but most of their cylinders, he will be really good.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Right what his number.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Four Fantasy quarterback of the Year coming in. He's got
a lot of production and they're moving the ball really well. However,
nights like tonight, you're gonna yet these nights's gonna happen?
Speaker 4 (05:01):
Well, Yeah, Watson back in the fold is opportunities and
snaps have been limited. Jones is back in the game.
Had a good I just saw right here, I'll just
come back in. That's good for him. Yeah, So caught
a pass and then had a nice little nine yard
scamper off the left end. Uh to extend this driving
now on a fourth and nine down, twenty four field goal,
(05:22):
does you nothing except the fantasy owners makes it the.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Three score game, makes the three score game. We gonna
gotta go for.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
It, three score game. I'm still trying to win, still
trying to win. First down for the Packers. Looks like, yes,
looks like was that aj Dillon that caught that pass
the middle of the field. I couldn't tell hang on that.
It looks like it looks like Dobbs Dobb's got that
ball middle of the field. He caught it on the ground,
So it wasn't the best pass. But first and goal
now for the Packers as they try to get Jason.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
How many people do you think they're thought that was
Randall Cobb?
Speaker 1 (05:55):
I think, well, I think people turn into this game tonight.
God he's not still there.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
They don't. Well, you know what, if he caught.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
That hail Mary, you would have beaten the Patriots. This
last is, uh, is James Jones in this game? Like?
Speaker 3 (06:07):
Where where where's James Jones? He's still playing like and
if the Jets had a quarterback, they'd be good. They yeah,
if it but candy et cetera. Yeah, but yeah, I
don't like.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
I paused because I didn't know if you were just
really wishing for fantasy points from AJ Dillon.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
Oh no, I don't have AJ Dillon either. Matter.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
No, I want to borrow my glasses. No, no, no,
because I made the body type.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
I couldn't see.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
I saw the But listen, I'm talking, and I see
somebody roll over after they catch it. You have Corey Dillon.
I did not have Corey Dillon Hall of Famer Corey.
Do not have Melinda Dylon. She's somebody Dylan from Uh
oh too soon, really too soon, too soon?
Speaker 3 (06:46):
No, we can celebrate the life and times.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Don't have Dylan Brooks. I don't have Dylan McDermott or
Dermott mulroney. Neither of them. Gotta get Dermott mulron out.
None of to go down there, none of that. Uh
so again time out on the field. We have the
Packers down big. But let's just say this because not
because I picked the Lions to go to the Super Bowl,
but I did. Uh everybody is now seeing tonight. Look
you saw Opening Night? They beat the Chiefs. Hey, how
(07:12):
good is this team? They won, they lost a game,
but now here seeing what they've done to the Packers
in the first half of this game offensively until without
running the football, without Jamison running the football, yes, for
three yards of carry, yes, and it's still right without
running the ball, of time of possession, matriculate down the field,
(07:33):
and big play volume, but they had five big plays
and having Montgomery to where you actually have a thread
of a run where you did not have that with
Jami or Kims. Jimier Gibbs will get your two yards
of carry, so yeah, they didn't even trust him to
do that.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
They abandoned that all the other but big play after
big play in the passing game has been there for Jeredy.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
This is a Lions team that still is not great
running the football, is efficient enough, still missing their big
weapon coming in because you know they want to get
James and Williams back in here. And when it suddenly
you're talking about him and Saint Brown and you have
Josh Reynolds who has a ton of targets tonight and
a second leading receiver. Now Laporta is a huge target.
He's actually the leading receiver for the Lions tonight. I'm
(08:13):
telling you, man, watch out this high octane offense. That's
what I've loved about the Lions. And they're still not
even as good as they're going to be. They're starting
out way back. I thought this is a team that
they're gonna sit around five hundred ish for the first
few weeks. They'll get Jamison Williams back, they'll integrate him,
and then they'll figure out their running game, and then
they're gonna be really dangerous.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
They're on the cusp of going three and one, and
suddenly it's like, hey, guess what. Our division is pretty
easy because everybody else stinks. We don't have to worry
about Kirk Cousins. In a few weeks, he's gonna be
a jet. The Bears are gonna wind up going for
Caleb Williams. We beat the Packers tonight, we could clinch.
They can clinch if they win the Packers game tonight, Mike,
they could clinch. You're already you're already going down there
at the Lions. Yeah, I mean they had the big
(08:53):
shootout loss in ot to Seattle, the narrow win against
the Chiefs in Week one, Jones or Kelsey, But you
play who's on the schedule right, take care of business,
and then Atlanta. I think we're all starting to recognize
they're not good. He John Robinson's gonna have a few
highlights along the way, but otherwise they stay. It's one
(09:15):
of those teams that once you figure out what they're
trying to do offensively after the first couple of weeks, okay, now, now,
now we got.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
Gile pitt Now was on the side of a milk
carton oh Man. For Drake Corton is on the side
of a milk cart.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
Kyle Pitts is gonna be thirty five years old and
people are gonna say, but he's gonna be the best
tight end in the game.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
Just watch that. Watch with a.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
Young quarterback, you'd at least I don't know, target your
tight end ones.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
Who do Who do you feel worse for?
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Kyle Pitts, who was supposed to reinvent the tight end position,
or Garrett Wilson? Who do you feel worse for? Who
do you feel worse for?
Speaker 3 (09:45):
Kyle Pitzer? Gary Garrett Wilson because you showed last year.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
What you were able to do even with myriad quarterbacks
and now, uh, you know, Mike White's down there in Miami.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
Yeah, I want to be like Mike.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
Mike White is still there. The Packers are in the
end zone. Second half Team Smith, Christian Watson, I met
you had a touchdown pass. He's got four targets to night,
now got two for twenty five. He was wide open
and almost dropped it. There wasn't a defensive back within
ten yards of him, and he almost dropped it as
he tried to stay in bounds. Yeah, the Packers are
(10:19):
gonna go for two to try to turn this into
a two score game.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
Here, make it twenty seven to eleven.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
They did a nice little pick play as he came
across the formation to get himself wide open, and Love
just laid it out there. And not only did he
have the issue corralling the ball, you also had to
take a look at his feet, right, because we've certainly
seen officials screw that one up, haven't we.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Yeah, a couple of times he's he's out of bounds.
He's not out of bounds.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
The two point conversion that Jayden Reid is good. Make
it twenty seven to eleven. So maybe the Packers are
not dead yet.
Speaker 3 (10:56):
What are you not gonna have, squad? Baby? What do
you got Frostburg? How happy?
Speaker 5 (10:59):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Al Michaels with that touchdown, he might be the happiest
guy on the planet with that.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Right, Yoh yeah, he's got to have close games he's
got if he does, I mean, at some point, I
just expect him to just walk off the sell this
game being garbage.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
You are you ready for the next couple of Bears commanders.
Oh well, he may take a vacation day. Ronco's at Chiefs, Yeah,
another vacations at Saints box up, Bill's not bad, and
then Titans and Steelers. Yeah. But if Taylor Swift is
at that Chiefs game, that's okay. Oh, she'll be there.
She's dating the dude.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
He's probably gonna take take that that game next week
off unless.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
The Jets cost her her eyes.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
Well, she she is going back on tour on the eighteen,
So the window for this, you know, tour an end
of summer Summer's kiss kind of love affair thing.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Mike, But that's TBD because she's going to watch the Jets.
She might not be able to see after physically, I mean,
maybe nauseated.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
You know, as you all know, I've had my retinas
burned out watching the Jets. So please bear with me
tonight as I go through my signature songs and brand
new one dedicated to the Jets.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
It's called It's called Oh My Redness. I had to
watch Zach Wilson and one two three four. No no
no no, no, no, no no no.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
I thought it was to see you in hell with
the parenthetical metaphorically you burned my eyes.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Yeah, you know, we got we got some Zach Wilson
stuff coming up next, and we got some social media
stuff with the Jets, the Jets proving that no, not
only can we have Aaron Rodgers get injured, be out
for the year and it's hard to recover from that. No, no,
we're gonna be our own worst enemies. With everything else
we got that, we got more on the big stories
going on in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
Keep it right here.

(13:39):
eleven lines with the lead over the Packers here middle
of the third quarter, which we'll get back to that
in a minute. But two crazy things from Major League
Baseball we got to get to for a couple minutes here.
First of all, because you know they find a way
to get involved. The wild card race in both the
National League and American League is still up in the air.
(14:01):
We are still waiting to see the final teams that
are going to be able to qualify. We know a
few of them, but the final couple of spots in
each league is going to come down to the final
couple of days. Toronto, Houston, Seattle, battling for those two
spots in the American League and the National League. Boy,
you got Arizona. Who's likely to clinch very soon? Miami, Chicago, Cincinnati,
(14:23):
all right there trying for two spots. Why the White
Sox try to win today? Well, they tried something new.
Yeah you want, let's try something, you know what I mean, try.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
Something like they were doing everything they could to keep
the Cubs out of the playoffs, losing their Arizona. Yeah,
watching the Cubs lose their own games. They were trying
to be a mister helper and then they go out
and win the game.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
Out today, Mike, but they screwed over the Diamondbacks. It
was great, Hey, how about we got win? No, no, no,
that's they're not expected to push their a back of game,
so he can't pitch till.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
So in this pantheon of who's trying to qualify, where
we're at, let me tell you first about the Mets
and the Marlins before we get to Bryce Harper and
the Phillies.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
What the Mets screw this time?
Speaker 1 (15:05):
So the Mets are winning one nothing going to the
top of the ninth inning. Right, it's last game of
the year for the Mets and the Marlins. Mets have
really beat the Marlins a lot this year. If the
Marlins don't make the playoffs, looking, go boy, we couldn't
even beat the Mets, and they stunk. The Mets are winning,
won nothing. The Marlins threatened the Mets bringing Anthony k
who is a guy that was drafted by the team,
then was let go by the team, was brought back
(15:26):
by the team, was traded by the team, and now
brought back by the team again. He comes like him.
He comes into Uncork a wild pitch, his Mets debut,
though it's Mets debut because he never paid. He came in,
they let him go, they let him got him again,
they let him go, they picked him up, they traded
Mets debut wild pitch base hit. Game is tied. Now
the Marlins take a two to one lead in the
ninth inning. However, the rain comes and now it is
(15:50):
absolutely pouring in New York, so likely what's gonna happen
is they're gonna have to suspend this game because the
Marlins have to leave town. The rain is just awful
in New York. It's not stopping anytime soon. They're gonna
have to leave, go play their three games this weekend,
and if it still matters, they'll come back to New
York on Monday and play the last the rest of
(16:12):
the top of the ninth inning and the bottom of
the ninth inning. So here's the Mets. The Mets maybe
the point where this season can't get over fast enough
for it. No, no, you may have to come back
on Monday and a half.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
Well they only have to come back from Pittsburgh.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
But yeah, I mean it all started with that debacle
of taking not taking care of the field.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
How much of it is residual effects?
Speaker 1 (16:32):
Yeah, well, well tonight the other day they could have
split it where they could have played together.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
But tonight, I mean, you're not playing with his rain
right now. I mean, it's just not gonna stop.
Speaker 4 (16:39):
But you didn't cover the field before the series all
of that damage.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
Ye, I'm not saying, Well, the Mets thought, hey, apology.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
Well, here's the thing is, the Mets thought, well, you know,
we do need some rain, because certain fields do need rain. Sure,
but it's like, okay, this is during a hurricane. You
think you want to let it's gonna be a lot
of rain. Let's cover that field.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
If you guess what, you've got to sprinkler systems.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
So the Mets screwing the Marlins over again, and now
the weather's screwing the Marlins over So now, seriously, Marlins,
you have to come back. But at least I'm gonna
semi get a playoff game with the Mets, right because
that's kind of a play If they have to play
it Monday, it means the Marlins have to win to
move on to the.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
Play because the screw job for the Marlins is they
can't eat. Like at some point they've got to call
this relatively early because they have an afternoon game.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
Oh yeah, you know, they're gonna have to figure.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
This out like early one of those six o'clock twilight
kind of starts.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
But that is that is I mean, this is basically
a Mets playoff game on Monday. I'm getting the Mets
playoff on Monday basically is hey, well it is, I mean,
because they can screw over the Marlins. I mean, while
it means nothing to them except but it's not yet spoiler,
it's a win and go home game. That's what it's called. Regardless, right,
(17:53):
that's why it's a win and go home game. They win,
they go home. If we win, every everybody goes home
and if you lose, you go home to right. That's
why let's say it's win or lose and go home.
That's okay, win or lose and go home. That's that's
what's the or lose much smaller font.
Speaker 3 (18:09):
Win or lose and go home. No matter what, regardless,
win and losing, go home. It's a win. It's not
making it too long. Okay, win and lose and go home. Win,
lose and go home. Win or lose, forget it. We're done.
Win or lose and go home.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
That's what it is. And it's just we suck. And
it could be a winter winterer go home game for
the market in February. It could be a win or
go home, win, lose and go home. That's the game.
Remember to watch Taylor Swift and the Jets. All right,
Marlins and the Mets win or go home, win or
lose and go home game. That's what we call it.
There you go.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
It's a lot of stuff. Yeah you really added layers
to it. But yeah, the Marlins kind of get screwed.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Yes, oh yeah, yeah, but will say a couple of days, man,
I will say this if the Mets can take at
least one nlest team out of the playoff, because every
year I got to watch NL's teams, not name the
Mets go to the World Series. I gotta watch the
Nationals do it. I gotta watch the Braves do it.
I gotta watch the Phillies do it. Now don't have
to watch potential the Phillies, the Marlins, or the Braves
do it again.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
Everybody but me, everybody but me gets to go.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
But here's the thing. You could take some solace in
ready for this.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
No what the season, you helped propel them to those
lofty heights.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
You were a good helper.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
Win and go home, win or lose and go home.
That's the game on Monday. That's that's something I'm thinking
positive about that that's the.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Game or just spring training twenty twenty four, that is true.
Speaker 4 (19:26):
Well, all this all the anger though of like, look, man,
this has this game now has meaning because we can
send one of our division.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
We should Yeah, we should broadcast live from that ninth
inning of that game.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
We're not even that game here no, no, no, it could be.
It could be a big game. It could be a
big think about that, everybody.
Speaker 4 (19:42):
Hey, come back to the ballpark for what could be
four minutes of action.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
There were like a thousand people maybe there today, and
they'll be less than out on Monday.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
Yous kin coming in to play. The Marlins have first
and second with two outs in the top of the ninth, right,
you could be there going for four outs. I bet
you the Metal Lake the like tickets free.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
Hey, I'm gonna go, I gotta, I gotta take a
long lunch. What are you doing. I'm gonna watch a
baseball game for how long? What do you mean? How
about twenty minutes? Yeah, twenty five minutes. It could be
twenty minutes. And look, I mean they look out proud.
Speaker 4 (20:10):
They were Rob Manford everything else burning around him in
terms of some of the decisions he's made. But you
know that pace of play Man only nine games longer
than three hours, thirty minutes this year.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
We'll give you a sure zer in Verlander money if
you come out watch.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Uh so that's the first part. But you want to
talk about getting screwed. Yeah, the Phillies game tonight, My goodness,
there's a reason why Angel Hernandez is trending on Twitter now.
For the Phillies, it didn't really matter. The Phillies have
clinched the playoffs with birth already. They lose to the
Pirates three to two. Bryce Harper gets called out on
(20:49):
a check swing. Angel Hernandez worst on Pire ever is
the third base umpire. Now you hear or see Angel
Hernandez trending and you think, oh, yeah, here's another one.
You see a lot of people saying, oh my god,
Angel hand is with the worst call ever. Then you
look at the play of this and you go, yes,
I agree this time this was the worst call ever.
(21:09):
It was not even close to a swing by Bryce
Harper on a ball in the dirt. And Angel Hernandez
decides people to come to the ballpark to watch me umpire.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
I get there this year, you pitch to.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
Blow it in said, he went around.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
Oh oh, he's gonna be out of this game. If
he keeps this.
Speaker 6 (21:29):
Up, he is out of this game. I gotta tell you,
naked eye, he did not swing it, though, gust He's
gonna stand in. Man wants to play, all right.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
Well, if they're not gonna talk, we're done NBC Sports Philadelphia,
with the lack of describing what was happening.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
Something you gotta do it. He's gonna be gone.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
Harper was losing his mind. If you see the replay,
it's not even close to a check swing. The ball
is in the dirt. Hernandez says, he goes around, Harper
loses his mind. And I really thought he was good.
He's walking up all the way to Angel Hernandez like
he's gonna hit him. I really thought he was gonna
hit him. This last night was like Hector nearis. Yeah,
(22:30):
it's like last night. What's going on here? He makes
a bee line for Hernandez, who stands behind the bag,
and I said, Harper's gonna hit this guy.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
He's gonna hit He's gonna hit him. He's gonna hit him,
and people are gonna go good. I'm glad he hit him.
This guy sucks.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
I really thought he was going to He gets in
his face and he's screaming at him. He has to
be pulled away from Angel Hernandez. That is what I mean. Look,
I look at him go that's just an awful call.
And that's Angel Hernandez who just is continuing to do
Angel Hernandez things. He gets so mad he throws his
helmet in the crowd, but on his way up it
was crazy and he didn't calm down after the game.
(23:05):
Here's Bryce Harper postgame talking about that what went on
with Angel Hernandez.
Speaker 5 (23:10):
Every time I get thrown out, I mean, it's just
it's over and over, right, Like you you do something
on the field and it's like, oh, you did it wrong,
Or you take a pitch, you know, over the plate
and it's a ball and I get thrown out. It's
my fault, you know. It's just you know, so I
understand you have to live up to a certain you know,
a big leaguer mentality, right, you have to you have
to act like you have to show that.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
So I understand that.
Speaker 5 (23:33):
But at the same time, it's just when there's a
call that bad or something happens, it's just I think
it's wrong for both sides, right, you know, hitting, pitching, anything.
And there's times where it's warranted and there's times where
it's not.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
He didn't send it to you, did it.
Speaker 5 (23:49):
Just told me if I saw the replay that, you know,
I would know that I was wrong.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
So let's go to V ar Yeah, so take you
can see the green plane.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
I didn't replay, but if you want to look at
the replay, you will see there wasn't even anything close
to a swing.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
It's so bad.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
And really, you know, I know, it's kind of like
it's we say this all the time. How Major League
Baseball continues to allow him to umpire is just insane.
And I don't know if it's the point where MLB thinks, well,
this guy's so bad, but if we take him out,
it looks like the players and teams have made us
remove an umpire. So now if there's another guy that stinks,
(24:28):
that's really bad, and then we're.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
Gonna from next guy guy. That's it. That's the way
it works.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
This is I mean, look, Bryce Harper's wrong in fact,
and you look at what he did. Does he need
to get thrown out?
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Yeah? You can't do You shoul't do that.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
I mean that's where he says, Listen, I had to
earn that ejection, and he did because you go storming
up to the umpire argumballs and strike. Cause what's the
one thing can argue balls and strikes?
Speaker 3 (24:49):
Right, that's it?
Speaker 1 (24:50):
You argue balls and strikes? You know, you're getting thrown out.
So that's where Bryce Harper has to understand. Listen, I
knew it was gonna happen. I just couldn't control myself,
especially when you sprint down to third base.
Speaker 4 (24:58):
No, right, because that's not turning around at the home
plate umpire going. Really, they're not gonna let you go
running ninety feet down there.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
They're cursing him out the entire way.
Speaker 1 (25:08):
Oh, they're not gonna let they're not gonna let you stay.
I mean, whether you hey, but I was, I was
in the right here, Yeah you were. But you can't
do that, you can't stay it.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
But yeah, look, it comes down to how powerful is
the umpire's union. How much do they not want to
shake things up over on Park Avenue? Do they think
that the controversy is good because all of these are theories,
and all of them stink, but the wrong theories they
have to put out right, Well, man, you know the
(25:38):
umpires arguing like it's it's clicks, it's videos, it's impressions,
because there's some excitement in what might have been an
otherwise nondescript game. But when it's consistently you know, this
guy rates really badly and he does things terribly and
he adjudicates things like this that are just egregious that
(25:59):
at some points like yeah, the last guy does get fired.
This happens in companies, it happens at schools everywhere. Hey,
bottom couple of percent, it's time to tell them to
go somewhere else. It's Dion Sanders walking into a locker
room going, look her out. Yeah, it's time to get
into transfer portal. That's kind of what we're at here
with Angel Hernandez. I don't know where he transfers to.
(26:19):
Might be in somebody's softball league, and maybe I just
subjected you and your your beer league softball game to
his terrible umpiring. But that's where we need to be.
If you're last, you're gone Twitter and out about a fresca.

in the wide world of sports. To a guy who
has been called the Angel Hernandez of Update anchors, Wow,
special delivery, Steve the Sega.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
That's that's not a compliment. How many times have your job?
Speaker 1 (27:08):
How many time to watch people come in and argue
with you after you're updated and that happens all the time.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
They want to was going to actual you out right now?
Speaker 7 (27:16):
Actually Angel head and as his union member, So there's
the correlation doesn't go at all there. That's probably the
only reason he has his job, honestly, right.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
That was one of the things I rattled up here.
The union will protect me. We can't come after this guy.
Speaker 7 (27:31):
By the way, as Bryce Harper was tossed and threw
his batting helmet into the crowd, a ten year old
caught it, and the Philly Inquirer says during the game,
a few security guards approached the kids said Bryce Harper
wants to sign it for you.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
Why Angel Hernandez sucks sincerely, Bryce Harper.
Speaker 3 (27:53):
Yeah, you need to get that thing signed by Angel
Hernandez too, right, Well, you s should. It's how I
got it. Yeah, that's how I got it. Yeah, that
would be a keeper. Absolutely, That's very cool. That's very
very cool. I know he's got a beautiful signature. That's
long long time.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
Do you think if the kid walked up to Angel
Hernandez to sign it, we would throw the kid out
of the game.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
You're you're out, You're done. Why are you mocking me?
Get out of here.
Speaker 7 (28:14):
There will either be a check or a swing. I
believe if you watch the replay you will see yeah, yeah, ye.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
Yeah, Okay.
Speaker 7 (28:19):
As far as the Mets home game, rain delay was
nearly an hour ago and the Mets were up one
nothing going into the ninth. The chance of rain is
listed at at least ninety percent for most of the evening,
one hundred percent by three am Eastern time. So I
don't know if the Marlins are going to be getting
this game in. They do lead to one over the
Mets with the two runs top of the ninth. As
(28:41):
you mentioned, there are a couple outs in the ninth.
They're still batting the visitors. But as we started play tonight,
the Marlins and the Cubs were tied for the final
NL wild card and Atlanta has beaten the Cubs five
to three. Matt Olsen's fifty fourth home run. He is
one hundred and thirty six runs batted in.
Speaker 3 (29:00):
In progress.
Speaker 7 (29:01):
It's Rockies nine to four over the Dodgers in the
bottom of the seventh and a game of notes. The
Rangers are leading at Seattle to nothing in the bottom
of the fourth inning. Mariners have lost five of their
last six games. That started a four game series to
end the regular season. It ends on Sunday. Baltimore clinched
the AL East title to nothing over Boston. They clinched
(29:21):
the one seed in the American League. Chris Bassett and
Toronto shut out the Yankees six to nothing. Bassett sixteen
and eight for the Blue Jays. He had twelve strikeouts
in seven and two third innings. Today, the White Sox
beat Arizona three to one in a game where each
team had just three hits. Diamondbacks magic number to clinch
a playoffs spot, though, is now down to one as
(29:41):
the Cubs did lose again. Updating the NFL game, which
let's just say, if you're not watching for the most
of the night, not been worth watching. However, we do
have a couple of scores from Jordan Love, a TD
pass and a TD run in the second half. So
what was Lyons twenty seven to three at the half
is now twenty seven seventeen and Green Bay is going
(30:02):
for two again. They were just stopped about a foot
short of the goal line. So Shortan Love just got
pancaked trying to get in the end zone at the two.
That's a that's a scale like I want him to
get to but wow, he I mean, he runs right
into the defender and gets clotheslined. Oh we may say down, yeah,
(30:27):
but where's the ball?
Speaker 3 (30:28):
When he reached out the ball to the goal line
after both.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
Means tried to Walter Payton face like I'm down, but
I'm gonna reach it.
Speaker 7 (30:34):
It's a scoring play that I look at it or
not scoring plays. It turns out he listen, it's short.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
It's lambeau Field on a Thursday night, and it turns
it into a one score game.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
Hey guys, Angel Ornando says, it's a touchdown. That's right anyway.
Speaker 7 (30:48):
He stopped short for sure, and the Lions lead is
twenty seven to seventeen. Love with one touchdown pass, one interception,
one touchdown run. Aaron Jones is playing active tonight after
the hamstring injury, but five carries eighteen yards. David Montgomery
returned from a thigh injury for the Lions, had a
couple of short touchdown runs. He's up to nineteen carries
(31:09):
sixty nine yards. Detroit by ten early fourth Quarterback to.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
You, thanks a bunch, Steve O.

seven to seventeen. They're about to get the football back.
Jordan Love heating up a little bit here in the
second half. Love more on this game and a big
moment in sports tonight to celebrate. Keep it right here, Jason,
and it's not Jared Goff playing well, it's something different.

Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best friend.
His name is Mike Harmon. It is over in Green Bay.
The Lions are your thirty four to twenty victors behind
thirty two carries and one hundred and twenty one yards
for David Montgomery that's like a John Riggins line from
the eighties. Thirty two carries one hundred and twenty yards
(33:18):
and not that great, not even three and a half
yards of carry. But hey, we still have three touchdowns.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
James moving, keep the clock moving, and be efficient in
the red zone.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
That's a winning formula.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
The Detroit Lions now improved, My Lions. Who I told
you were going to the Super Bowl?
Speaker 3 (33:35):
Look at the Lion.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
Hey, their magic number to clinch this division is down
to two. Packers are two and two, doesn't matter. The
Saints fell over himself. They have the win over the
Packers already. And you have the other teams that aren't
gonna win a game. Yeah, they're uh, they're there magic number.
Speaker 4 (33:50):
And the question that I have for Lafleur, are you
guys gonna show up in the first half of the
game or is this really an elaborate plan to see
what kind if kitchen sink is being thrown at you
out of the gate and then responding from there.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
That's all I want to know, something simple.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
We're live from the tirerag dot Com Studios, Jason Smith,
Mike Harmon. This hour of the show brought to you

a multi policy discout by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat,

Speaker 3 (34:26):
Cram it up your cramhole the floor.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
So every time you say Lafleur, that's what I think of,
Jony loves CHUTCHI like you say, hey, Lafleur, I just
think of Ben's still a yellie.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (34:37):
And I always think of when you know, Aaron Rodgers
didn't have any guts to overrule and they kicked that
field goal against Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in a
playoff game.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
Footfall footfall football. Look, the Lions are legit. And for
everybody that thought, well Week one against the Chiefs, well
may the Lions they score on it. By no, the
Lions are legit. They closed last season hotter, as hot
as any team in the NFL. And their offense is terrific.
(35:08):
And it's terrific to the point of without even getting
at what they're normally going to get from their offense
as a season goes on, because still they're waiting for
Jamison Williams. They're trying to figure out the division of
labor with the running backs. And yes, it seems like, hey,
David Montgomery is a guy, you can trust him. The
football sledge has not very dynamic. Again, now you're three
and a half yards of carry, but Jamiir Gibbs dead
(35:30):
gets the ball a little bit more. Williams comes back
in week six. Suddenly you got I'm on Ross Saint
Brown and Jamison Williams and Josh Reynolds who led the
team in receiving tonight, Damn Sam Sam.
Speaker 4 (35:42):
For Jared Goff right now, like there are a couple
of just great throws, but laying his body out making
some big plays downfield. And we've seen that week after week.
That rams chemistry right there, That rams a day chemistry.
Speaker 1 (35:56):
Look, I'm sorry, the Lions are legit, and eventually we're
gonna have to start talking about them as being one
of the top teams in football like we talk about
the Dolphins, like we talk about the forty nine ers.
At least, up until this past week, we talked about
the Cowboys. The Lions are gonna get in that conversation.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
And yes, part of.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
It's gonna be because the division they play in is
not very good. The Vikings, who knows how close they
are to being able to punt on their season and
getting Kirk Cousins to the Jets. The Bears are a mess.
They're more than likely to get Caleb Williams as they
are to win a game. And as you saw, the
Lines are already gone on the road and won pretty
convincingly over the Packers. And when the rematches coming up
in Detroit where they've been playing really, really well, this
(36:34):
Packers team is legit. And it's not that the defense
is great. When you have a great offense like this,
you just need your defense to be just be league average.
You don't have to go crazy, you don't have to
be one of the top five like a team like
the Jets, need your defense to be in the top
three to try to win a game because your offense
is so abysmal. But that's why the NFL is an
offensive league. You have a lot of offense, just be
(36:55):
league average because if your league average, that puts so
much pressure on the other to shut you down. And
that's what the Lions defense is. It's league average, right,
It's pretty Jordan Love. Stat wise, tonight had a pretty
good game. Now the Packers couldn't run the football. But
this wasn't anything special the Lions did. The Packers haven't
been able to run the football all season long, so
this is not what We're gonna shut you guys down
(37:16):
and we're but they're gonna make enough plays. They get
enough pressure on the quarterback Aidon Hutchinson another sack and
a half tonight. The Lions are legit and they are
an absolute Super Bowl contender, and people are seeing it now.
To watch the game tonight, you're seeing the Lions. They're
not just a feel good story. They win the first week.
While we make fun of the Lions for so long,
now sublely they go from hey, they're a fun story too. Whoa,
(37:38):
Now the Lions are a power man. Look at Jared Goff.
He's gonna get another big contract extension there with the Lions.
You're gonna end in Hooker, he's gonna get another big
deal coming up.
Speaker 3 (37:46):
Well.
Speaker 4 (37:47):
One of the big things also is you know you're
learning both sides of things. Gardner Johnson goes down with
an injury, so you're you're cobbling together the secondary and
kind of twisting that and finding guys to step up
make but The big thing for the Lions and the
biggest factor in this game was you got off to
a fast start, right and the Packers, for whatever reason,
(38:07):
that's now the formula first half just getting boat race
time and again. But with the Lions, if you can
suddenly have Hutchinson and these guys being able to just
tee off, good luck, right, because you became you were
one dimensional coming in already questions of whether your run
game was gonna be there For the Packers, Aaron Jones
(38:27):
cleared to play, didn't know what he was. They were invisible,
and we're talking about by time you got to halftime,
it's the all right, pin your ears back. Good luck,
Jordan Love, you're playing a little softer coverage, so you know,
take the stats with the grain of assault. Don't tell
that to the fantasy owners. Had an opportunity. Watson tried
to make a move. Love misreddit for that second interception.
(38:51):
But the offense will get better, the time will get better.
We've been talking about this with Philadelphia some of these
other teams, right, because you're not doing the same reps,
not going through the same pace as not doing the
preseason reps of playing full games, half games, whatever. You're
not getting those live reps and getting the timing down,
and so it's taken a little bit of time. It's
(39:12):
taking a couple of weeks. Is that kind of a
Does it rob you a bit as a fan or
someone who watches these games? Yeah, because there's been a
lot of sloppy, pretty terrible football. We were joking about
tackling efforts or lack thereof by some.
Speaker 3 (39:27):
Of these guys.
Speaker 4 (39:28):
I'm like, to some degree, that's just cornerbacks. That's just
what they a lot of guys are. It's the I'm
gonna chum up and try to make a hit on you,
and if I don't knock you out of bounds, you've
now bounced off for another fifteen yards forward before a
linebacker chases you down. But Lions are in a really
great position right here, and whatever Jameson Williams comes back
(39:49):
and is You've got depth, You've got weapons at each spot,
and Gibbs is only gonna get better.
Speaker 3 (39:56):
Look out, Lions, super Bowl. Look Out.
Speaker 4 (40:00):
I'm not going that far, but I'll give you, I'll
give you The division is certainly going to be a
nice long battle between them and the Packers.
Speaker 1 (40:06):
Again, they're gonna clinch next week. Then clearly the magic
number is two. No no, no name you're trying to do
Brian Fenley math. Okay, what he was trying to perpetrate
on us the other Yeah, that's not good math. Fuzzy math.
Now the flip side of it, Jordan Love and the
Packers do we got something for you coming up in
ninety But first it's special delivery. Steve de Seger with
(40:28):
what's trending tonight in the wide world of sports as the.
Speaker 7 (40:31):
We'll start with the NFL game at Green Bay. We're
in the first half. The Packers offense on twenty two
plays had twenty yards nets Detroit eventually the winner thirty
four to twenty. That halftime lead for the Lions was
twenty seven to three. Detroit's record three and one this season.
David Montgomery three short touchdown runs. He had thirty two
carries one hundred and twenty one yards. Jordan Love and
(40:53):
the loss one touchdown pass and yes, one touchdown run,
but also two interceptions in this game. So the Packers
didn't just lose a game, they lost tackle. David Bachtiari's
injury reserved today after knee surgery, so he'll miss at
least four games, and tonight, Green Bay's young tight end
Luke Musgrove left with a concussion. Cardinals wide receiver Marquise
(41:15):
Brown injured his thumb in practice. Giants running back Saquon Barkley,
with the bad ankle, was limited in practice. Forty nine
Ers wide receiver Brandon Ayuk was limited again with a
bad shoulder. Steelers punter Presley Harvin missed practice again with
a hamstring injury. Pittsburgh had signed punter Brad Wing to
the practice squad yesterday. He's with a team for the
first time since twenty seventeen. Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson
(41:38):
is still in concussion protocol, as is his center Ryan Kelly,
but both practice today. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes practice fully
after the ankle injury.
Speaker 3 (41:47):
Sunday.
Speaker 7 (41:47):
Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, whose battle to calf injury, did
practice fully. The other two notes that Dolphins wide receiver
Jalen Waddle is out of concussion protocol and Derek Carr,
Saints quarterback, miss practice again with his shoulder injury. The
USFL and XFL announced they will merge with details about
the spring league coming later and college wins tonight for
(42:08):
Western Kentucky and Tulsa. Tomorrow night on FS one, it's
Top twenty match up with Utah at Oregon State. To
Major League Baseball, a long night in New York. The
Marlins got two runs in the top of the ninth
for a two to one lead over the Mets, and
with two outs in the top of the ninth a
rain delay that's been going on for quite some time.
It started at nine to forty Eastern time. Meanwhile, we've
(42:32):
got we do have a should I should say Rangers.
They've just hit the seventh inning stretch. Rangers lead of
two to one at Seattle.
Speaker 3 (42:40):
Here.
Speaker 7 (42:40):
The regular season ends on Sunday. The Texas Rangers are
the first place team in the AL West, two and
a half games over Houston, four up on Seattle. Already,
we've had a loss from the Cubs tonight again, lost
at Atlanta five to three. Matt Olson is fifty fourth
homer to start the night. The Cubs and Marlins were
tied for the final NL wildcard Marlin's game, of course,
(43:01):
it's not yet done. Toronto and Chris Bassett shut out
the Yankees six ton. I think White Sox beat Arizona
three to one. But the good news for the Diamondbacks
is with that Cubs loss tonight, Arizona's magic number to
clinch a playoff spot now down to one. Arizona will
be hosting Houston this weekend. And congrats to the Baltimore Orioles,
who won five in a row, shut out Boston to
nothing tonight. The Orioles clinch the AL East. They get
(43:25):
win number one hundred of their season. You know, the
only other team to go from one hundred losses to
one hundred wins in a three year span was the
Amazing Mets in the nineteen sixties the late sixties. The
Orioles have gone from one hundred and ten losses to
one hundred wins here this year and in fact, just
before a couple of years ago they had a season
(43:47):
of one hundred and eight losses and a season of
one hundred and fifteen losses. Still young, still not much payroll,
and one hundred wins in counting in AL East champs
and by winning that division, they are the number one
seed for the America in the league playoffs, So no
best of three wild card series for them next week,
straight to the best of five division series and finally,
they have yet to be swept in any series this year.
(44:10):
And in fact, it's a street going back to the
last year of ninety one straight series without being swept.
Speaker 1 (44:15):
Back to you, I had some team there, Blander de
Sinse and the Infoyd Murray.
Speaker 3 (44:20):
Now Bumbery running out there, singed in.
Speaker 1 (44:23):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Disco, Danny Ford, right, Lowenstein and Rennicky.
Oh now you're talking when you get Mowenstein into the
mix TJ tonight, let it be Lowenstein TJN. So you
got Lewis Black posting tributes on social media, Yeah, using
words like splendid season, but then kind of looking like
(44:43):
he shuts the camera off because he looks like he's
about to cry. Yeah, like it kind of hits him.
Speaker 3 (44:48):
Yeah. Of you know, this huge turnarounds. So we've done it.
It's awesome.
Speaker 1 (44:52):
We've done And they didn't they agree today to a
thirty year At least they made a big announcement, let's
strike while the eye, We're gonna win this division. Let's
get thirty more years at this point.
Speaker 4 (45:03):
But you know what that had been bubbling in the background, right,
and I do these spots in Baltimore, and they'd ask
like calmerheads have to prevail, right right.
Speaker 3 (45:11):
I mean, you would like to.
Speaker 4 (45:12):
Think, especially when your organizations, you still have the ballpark
and whatever. It's historic nature for Major League Baseball at
this point, given that it ushered in that new style
of park. But you're on the upswing. I'd like to
think they realize there's some money to be made here.
Speaker 3 (45:31):
For at least for the next few years.
Speaker 4 (45:34):
Angelos can't be that dumb canny jay Uh.
Speaker 3 (45:37):
Don't ask questions.
Speaker 4 (45:38):
You you know that I know the answer to that,
which is why I chuckled kind of like you do.
Speaker 1 (45:45):

glass half full, and then there's a dark side. For
Jordan Love and the Packers, there's a dark side. The
(46:07):
glass half full is so far this season, he is
exactly who he said he was going to be. He
was going to be fine in this offense. He's not
gonna win a passing championship, but he's going to be
able to move the team. And tonight second half was
pretty good. He ran for a touchdown through for touchdown
through a two hunred and forty six yards the Packers
so far two and two, and for Jordan Love, he
(46:28):
gets a pretty good grade because he's doing exactly what
the Packers hoped he would do. Remember, they built the
offense around we want to rely on other players. Want
to be able to sledgehammer run the football. Have a
bunch of wideouts that don't have to go crazy spending
on guys like DeVante Adams. But we want a bunch
of guys that are athletic that we can go deep with.
Maybe you have the one through four. Guys are irreplaceable,
(46:49):
right or or interchangeable. Our number one is the same
as our number four. That's how they wanted to build
this team. And so far, for Jordan Love, so far,
so good. He's had a pretty good first four games.
Now the dark side. The dark side shows you how
hard it is to build a team when you are
okay having a quarterback that's a league average ish quarterback,
(47:13):
maybe a little bit better. So far, fantasy wise, he's
certainly been pretty good. But when you want to build
your team like this, you got to make sure that
everybody stays healthy and effective because if not, you ain't
gonna win games.
Speaker 3 (47:27):
Right.
Speaker 1 (47:27):
If you want to build this way and say we
want our quarterback to kind of be the head of
the snake, right, we don't want to go for a
quarterback and pay him fifty million dollars. We've gone down
the Aaron Rodgers road. We were sick of him holding
us hostage for the last couple of years. Now we're
moving on. Okay, but now you see what happens because
quarterbacks cover up a lot of bad things. Cover They
cover up a lot of warts. Right, look at the Patriots.
Tom Brady apparently, now we know, covered up a lot
(47:49):
of warts during his time with New England, and now
mac Jones and company can't do it. Same thing with
Aaron Rodgers. Did he cover up a lot of warts?
Speaker 3 (47:56):
Packers had? Absolutely so?
Speaker 1 (47:58):
Now did he create some other Oh you're talking about
two of the last three years with the team, he
won MVP sets and proms. He was the MVP. If
you're the Packers, you got to be able to know. Okay,
we gotta be able to throw the football. We got
to be able to run the football. Jordan Loves got
to get outside the pocket. We got to be able
to take advantage of the receivers. Receivers have to get open.
We have to play really good defense all the time
(48:19):
because we can't just getting a shootout. We got to
be able to make sure. That's a lot of things
to ask of a team to say. Quarterbacks got to
be sharp, we got to be able to run the ball.
Receivers have to be able to be interchangeable. Defense has
to play great all the time. That's a lot of
things to ask. Whereas a quarter if you have a
great quarterback, it's hey, some games of defense can suck.
Sometimes you don't have to run the football all these things.
(48:40):
What happened tonight, Well, how is the Packers defense. Packers
defense wasn't that great.
Speaker 6 (48:45):
Now.
Speaker 4 (48:45):
They were porous and they got zero support and they
the problem and they couldn't run the football.
Speaker 1 (48:49):
So you're talking about two of the things you need
to go right if you're the Packers to win. This
is how hard it is. Defense wasn't great. That makes
it hard to win. And you couldn't run the ball
at all. Which makes it possible to win. Aaron Jones
five carries, eighteen yards. AJ Dillon again invisible. This third
straight game. AJ Dillon has stunk. So now, if you're
the you're realizing that's the dark side of saying we
(49:10):
want off of Aaron Rodgers and off of that ride
and we want to go forward here. Now it's if
you're firing on all cylinders, you'll win games, but if not,
you're gonna lose. And and whereas a quarterback can make
it really easy to say, hey, all this other stuff,
we don't have to worry about running the ball, don't
have to worry about this. I have to worry about that. Hey, defense,
you gave up thirty five points. That's okay because I
(49:30):
put up thirty eight.
Speaker 4 (49:31):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (49:32):
That's a bit a lot easier thing to deal with
than to say, okay, let's build the team this way. Yeah,
give up a lot of big chunk plays on the
defensive side. You know, it's the good effort first second
down and then third and long. Here's a twenty six
yard pass play. Insert your receiver here, whether it was
Reynolds Laport, I had that big catch early in the game,
(49:54):
and then I'm on Ross Saint Brian. I mean, that
was just a good pitch and catch from golf to
Saint Brown. But you're looking at the the offensive side
of things, and that's really where the curiosity is, not
just Jordan Love, but play calling, operational efficiency. You look
at the offensive line, you're down back Tar, So there's
(50:16):
your veteran injured. Remember when everybody wanted him traded to
the Jets. He would be just as useful to their
offensive line, beleaguered offensive line, as he is to the Packers.
Right now, hopefully it gets well and he's ready for
the second half of the year, But right now you're.
Speaker 4 (50:33):
You're looking at a unit back to back weeks that's
just absolutely gotten crushed off the jump, and you've got
to figure out systemically why that is. What are you
what are you doing in your play calling, in your sequencing,
and just trying to find the easy throws, easy plays
(50:54):
to get into a rhythm.
Speaker 7 (50:55):
Right.
Speaker 4 (50:55):
We talk about that with young quarterbacks especially, We talk
about it with all quarterback, but certainly young quarterbacks trying
to get one or two of those easy throws get
you into a game. He missed a couple of throws
early on, and then the defense just got bludgeoned with
big play after big play, and before you know it,
the run game that's already suspect, that's already struggling whether
(51:20):
Jones should have been ready and cleared to play tonight
or not. Dylan's not been a factor, So not only
can't you run the ball, now you're getting blown out,
so you can't run the ball. So now you're completely
one dimensional, and the defensive ends are teeing off right,
sending an extra attacker. And this goes back to the
(51:42):
other part of it is you've got some good young receivers.
You don't have any great young receivers. You don't have
a guy to find right where Jordan Love's gonna throw
it up and say go get it.
Speaker 1 (51:53):
You can think all these guys, you know, you know,
Dobbs is gonna be good and and Watson's gonna wind
up being good, but these are not guys that you
don't have to worry. You don't have to worry about
doubling anybody do. The Jets found out, Hey, we thought
we had a great wide receiver with outside of Garrett Wilson, oh,
everybody else is just kind of there. And the Packers
are finding that out. Now we can get by with
these wide receivers. No, you kind of need a guy
(52:15):
it do. You to be able to either take the
top off the defense or be someone they roll coverages towards.
If your quarterback is not a great passer and you
have four receivers, they got it. If they're not, if
they can't take that step up, that's again, it's so
difficult to build a team that way.
Speaker 4 (52:30):
And losing Muscrove obviously doesn't help. He's become a little
bit of a safety valve through the first three weeks
of the season leaves going into concussion protocol, but certainly
for the Packers. Yeah, there's gonna be some tough sledding.
There's gonna be games like this. Uh, fortunately you'll you'll
also still play the Bears again. Four games against the Bears, right, well,
(52:52):
the unbalanced schedule, Okay, that's right, I feeling it.
Speaker 3 (52:55):
We got four in a row against the.
Speaker 1 (52:56):
