(00:51):
my favorite gift today off of Mean Girl's Day. Okay,
someone did a van go poster of the scene where, uh,
you know, you don't even go to this school. Oh
sure it was you don't even go g OgH to
this school with a picture of the stands from that
scene as a van go poster. No, that's good. You

(01:13):
don't even go to the school. Yes, happy, Mean Girls Day.
October third is Mean Girls Day. Let's get it. Yeah,
you go, Glenn Koko, you go Fantastic film. And that's
how Regina George died. No, I'm just kidding. Day one
in the Major League Baseball Playoffs is in the books.
We had four games. The Phillies win, the Diamondbacks win.

(01:33):
This gets Craig Council one day closer being named Mets manager.
The Rangers win, which, well, let's just say we have
a lot more on that game coming up in a
couple of minutes. Because oh, nobody strikeouts. Di da Gram
have de Grom and Shuzer. They each struck out ten today.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
Nobody asked about Suzer. Don't bring don't bring him into this.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
But the Twins win a game in the playoffs. They
break in eighteen game losing streak in the playoffs. Their
last win in the playoffs was two thousand.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
And four, eighteen year right, you really was out that game?
You really was that old Yankee stadium, Johann Santana. Wow,
you were there for that two thousand and four game one,
alds Oh, my good. I was living in New York
at the time. My buddy gave me tickets. I've never
heard of stadium that quiet.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
And then someone said, you you go to the next game,
the Twins will win. Yeah, twenty years later, here you
twenty years later. You wait long and eight all right.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
We had a running joke for a long time with
friends that if you listen to the radio long enough
that song you want to hear, it'll show up.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Venture. Yeah. Yeah, you make it to the playoffs, eventually
you'll play a game. You'll win eighteen games. They lost
eighteen straight in the playoffs till they won today, eighteen straight.
Say that to our boss's face, I dare you. No,
I'm not going to do celebrating games. Oh you can
all bottles. Our boss Scot Shapiro getting bottles. So he
made the games one oh man. Yeah, that is when.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
I'm not sure if he's happy about the Vikings winning
at this point though.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Oh yes, he wants a hold on He wants to
call on the kirk Cousins allSome. They they were too
good to be number one.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
I mean they were on their way.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Yeah, they were gonna they were still gonna have to
fight the bears. Yeah, that's not much of a fight.
You're right, And TJ. Clearly he would be a new
man on the Minnesota Vikings TJ.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Although harmon a lot of people saying if the Bears
loose Thursday, Iberflus is, uh, it's a final.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
I'll believe it when I see it.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Is just given their history. I'm just trying to figure
out what Justin Fields would look like in a Jets uniform.
If they can get him for the rest of this
they would break him.

Speaker 5 (03:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
No, they would just say, listen, dude, just throw it
to Garrett Wilson. Just that's it. Other just run the.

Speaker 6 (03:46):
Ball that.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
The Beatles line. I love to run. Just run every
single time you get it. It's all good. Hey, he's
really good for three quarters though, so I still have
some hope. And if you start him, not necessarily him,
and if you started him in fantasy, he was good.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
I believe he set records as the first guy to
throw for over three hundred yards with four touchdowns and
complete more than eighty percent of his passes.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
And lose lose. Yeah, I think so. I think you're
right about that. Usually that's a jetstat but it was
through the bearstecon.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
Congratulations, and then they went back to calling the offense
the way they normally had, and yeah, I tried to
get him killed.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Yeah, well and it was you know, hey, well look
you were playing the undefeated Denver bru hang on, Oh
no way, oh no, sorry, never mind, never mind. Yeah.
The big story out of the playoffs tonight in Major
League Baseball comes out of Tampa, the very first baseball
game of the day in the playoffs, the Rays and
the Rangers. And then about fifteen minutes before game time,

(04:45):
pictures start hitting the internet of what the trop looked
like fan wise, Yeah, fifteen minutes before the game was
estimated there about four thousand fans in their seats, Like
that's what the series accuse Mets get on a night
they got about four thousand. In Syracuse they got about

(05:05):
four thousand. Eventually the attendance was announced at nineteen thousand.
But you look at that ballpark and you tell me
if that ballpark is half filled, because that because remember
it's a smaller ballpark, right, the Trap is a smaller ballpark.
So it's not like everybody, I want to say big
forty two and change, yeah, but it's like thirty eight

(05:25):
in the regular season. Then it gets up to forty
two something like that, and one hundred in the pool. Yeah,
I said very hot, very hot. Was very hot, Dug Pool,
Dicky v very hot at the game today. Two fingers
to those Rays. I remember front to back, at back,
front to back on the race. So you tell me
if you think that ballpark was fifty percent fault. There's
no way, right. This is always the creative accounting. When

(05:47):
attendance for tonight's game is thirteenth and LOO can go,
there's about one hundred people here in the stands. Speaking
of Syracuse, when I would go to see the Syracuse games,
they would say, hey, thank you. Tonight's attendance is eight
nine and seventy two, and I'm going, there's about one
hundred bleeve in people here. But all the season ticket
holders get announced because they sold tickets for to night's game.
Tonight's ticket sold is eight. Thank you very much to

(06:08):
all the Syracuse fans, and like eight people clap. There's
no way. And I know they had a meeting not
too long ago about a new ballpark that's going to
be built or allegedly planned to be built in the
Tampa area. But this is the day where five years
from now, when the Rays are playing in Montreal, or

(06:31):
North Carolina, and someone says, boy, what was the tipping point?
What really sent the Rays down to the mode of
what baseball had to relocate them. This is the day
you're looking at, because this is an awful optic. This
is day one. This is not a regular season day.
I know that it's you're talking about a game that's
three o'clock in the afternoon. But guess what Twins played
in the afternoon. They had to sellout, right, So you

(06:53):
can't tell me, oh yeah, and you're not talking about
everybody in the entire city needs to go. But another
eighteen thousand tickets, you tell me your ballpark? Nineteen thousand
not even half the ballpark, and I'm sure it was
less than that. This is where major League Baseball has
to say, Okay, you know what, we got to move
the team. We got to because they're not sustainable. You

(07:14):
need people going through the turnstiles. And that's what Baseball
always points to. They point to television, right, more people
watching on TV, and everybody points that, I get it,
but they point to going to the game right. Baseball,
more than any other sport, points to, hey, people going
through the turnstyles the game right. But they always say,
look at look at look at attendances.

Speaker 6 (07:35):
Up.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
Attendance is up, attendants and TV ratings are up and up.
That's a major League Baseball always wants.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
They'll sell the hell out of attendance when it's going up,
when it's going down. There are economic reasons and all
sorts of other things.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
But there's attendance. And then there's that dazzle a playoff game,
A playoff for a team that has been pretty good.
It's not like, hey, they've been nothing for years and such.
This is a team that has a pretty decent track
record the last year, that's won a lot of games,
and nineteen thousand people come to seriously, nineteen thousand people.
I look at Tampa and I I've come to this.

(08:12):
I've come to this conclusion on things more and more
as I get older. Is that sometimes you think things
are forever when you're growing up. I don't mean relationships.
I just mean, like you're certain well, even though I'll
always be able to go to J. C. Penny down
the block, right, I'll always be able to go to
jac Penny when I want something right. That's my point.
That's so much z JC Penny to Jon out there now,
If I need something, I can go to Radio Shack. Right,

(08:33):
I'll always be able to get my walk. Man, there's
people going to be there, Yes, and a and a boombox.
I'm gonna get that too.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
Well, they had those last time the Twins want to Playfay.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
I need twenty batteries. I was still used to listening
to CDs the last time the Twins won a playoff game.
So there's certain things that hey, maybe instead of forever,
you're only meant to be together for a certain amount
of time. Things only meant to be around for a
certain amount of time before progress happens, life changes. Yeah,
and then we are never ever ever getting back together.

(09:04):
And baseball in Tampa, I mean, how long can you
prop up Tampa as saying yes, this is a market
where look look at Las Vegas, the A's for years
they went through. We need something, we need something, we
don't need something. We can't get a ballpark. We're moving.
Now you have Tampa saying hey, we can have a ballpark,
but major League Baseball's gonna go WHOA. So we're gonna
have a brand new ballpark, then no one's gonna go to

(09:25):
We're gonna spend all this money and we're not gonna
get revenue. People are not gonna go through the turnstiles
at the game. I mean, that's that. I can't tell
you how embarrassing that is. For here's a playoff game
and you can't even sell it out. And we've been
talking about it for years, for years about how, hey boy,
they fell short of a sellout here in the playoffs. Right,
here's a World Series game where attendance is thirty nine thousand,

(09:48):
thirty seven thousand. How do you not sell thirty nine thousand?
How do you have two thousand empty seats for a
World Series game? And now you're at the point where
here's a playoff game and yeah, four thousand people there
a few minutes before maybe a few thousand war by
the time you got to first pitch. That's untenable. It
is absolutely tenable. What do you think the low what
do you think of tennis would have been like in
Nashville if they were playing this game in Nashville? Where

(10:08):
where do you think it tenns would have been like?
In North Carolina? What do you think a tennis would
have been like in Montreal? If they were playing a
playoff game in Montreal, they would have been, had people
trying to stand on each other's shoulders trying to get
in the stadium, like it was the end of World
War Z when they kept you know, the where was it?
Where are they in Israel? Where they kept talking over
the loud speakers and the and the zombies kept hearing,
and they made the zombie pyramids to get up over

(10:30):
the walls into these games. I gotta get in. I
gotta see this game. Stop stop yelling, brad Bit is yelling.
Don't talk, stop talking, stop talking. That's what it would
have been to try to get in these games. Instead
you have you have baseball in Tampa, and it's really
this is what it looks like now. I mean, I
don't know how you can defend that going forward saying yeah,
it's a good idea to stay and build a new stadium. Really,

(10:53):
I mean, why why are you gonna build a place
that no one's gonna come to? Like I say, Hey,
we're gonna build a mall, greater people are gonna go
to it. Nope, why are we gonna build it? Because
we can, We're gonna build it, but but people aren't
gonna go It doesn't matter. We're still gonna build that mall.
It's gonna be great. We're gonna build this restaurant. Well
where is it. Well, we're gonna build it right on
the top of the old restaurant. But people didn't go
to the old restaurant. Doesn't matter, what do you mean?
It doesn't matter. We're still gonna build it. But yeah,

(11:14):
but if no one comes, you're gonna be out of business.
So we're gonna build it. We have the mind we're
gonna build it. We're gonna build it. It's jobs, it's this,
it's a it's a I mean, you really think baseball
is not gonna say, hang on a second, we got
to rethink these plans. I would one hundred percent if
I'm Rob Manford the MLB.

Speaker 4 (11:29):
Yeah, I think there's a couple of things that get
to it. And it goes back to that base point
of the curiosity of all right, if it was at night,
it wasn't. But for the sake of argument, if it was,
what's the crowd look like there? And market to market,
that's gonna be different as to how it's prioritized, what

(11:49):
your population is, all of those things, right. My my
parents live in clear Water. They love watching raise baseball,
not quite as much as their excitement for the rich
heart of Lightning hockey, which is a whole other thing.
With my dad already getting into scouting reports on the year,
which is really cool.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
But Dad, you don't work for the team, doesn't matter.
I'm looking at some of the guys in the AHL,
I'm looking at the story, I'm looking at Syracuse Crunch.

Speaker 4 (12:14):
Yeah, but legitimately before they play at night, if you
talk to them in the afters, what you do.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
It's like I'm looking at a matchup page, like all right, cool,
But but it's the kind of thing that you know,
TV does win and I can't dismiss that, right because
that's why they schedule it.

Speaker 4 (12:31):
So it's in a window by itself to get started.
Logic says you should not be playing when you are
Here's I mean, I like day baseball. There's nothing better
than April baseball when the White Sox are still potentially
in it. And I've got a game here on the
West Coast at ten am as I'm you know, stretching

(12:53):
and getting on a dreadmill, walking the dog whatever I'm doing.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
That's great.

Speaker 4 (12:57):
But for the playoffs, yeah, that's stupid and disrespectful to
team fans, and you say.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
Well, go to the game. It's like, oh, I go
watch it on DV, dude. Lowest attendance since nineteen nineteen
the World Series, the White Sox threw to the Red allegedly.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
No.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
I saw eight men out a thousand times. I'm pretty
sure they threw it. Yeah, Michael Rooker was in charge
of everything. I saw that well, and then he became
on to he was exile. He well, he threatened. He
threatened all the White Sox players with the arrow sweethead,
and they all went away. dB Sweeney goes along with it,
David straight there and goes along with it. That John
Cusack went along with it, they all did.

Speaker 4 (13:34):
I mean straight Thurn, he's the genius, the mastermind of
it all.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
I mean he had to get Eddie. Had we had
Eddie do? Yeah, we gotta get Eddie Charlie Sheen before
the Tiger's blood, Charlie she sure guys.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
As embarrassing as this is the attendance today at that game,
I think it's more of their fans basically saying, blank,
you give us a new ballpark, because that place is
a garbage It is a dough but.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
That's during the this is the playoffs. Though, this is ill.
I'll suck it up to go to the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
Why are you gonna pay two hundred dollars to go
to a dump You didn't have to pay.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Two hundred dollars to get to that game. You couldn't
go to the dumpster out here for free. You could
have got into that game for eight bucks. There's no
no tickets, this is they're not giving away tickets. It
might have been more to get in just to get
a tour of city Field today than it would have
been together the drum for a playoff game. Oh sure?
How much?

Speaker 6 (14:20):
Wait?

Speaker 1 (14:21):
Wait do they still get free tours of Sofi or
do they charge money for it? They were never free?
How much? How much is a tour of Sofi? It's
more than you make here? Okay, so tour of Sofi
probably more than it is to get into Uh absolutely okay.

Speaker 4 (14:35):
That was a drop to Mike moment, Like Smid didn't
know how to respond. Okay, he started thinking, it's.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
Like, be sure to catch live editions of The Jason
Smith Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern,
seven pm Pacific, No too late, no.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
Music, No, too late, too late, no music, no music
too late? All right, you didn't play Tears for Fears.
It's okay for three No, it is too late, too late.
Once you start a song, you can't put a new
can't say it's a rule. You want to bet it's
absolute rule. No, it's absolute rule.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Ty Shirt play Tears for Fears? You could have.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
I thought we couldn't do it. You know what, Frostburg,
You're suspended. Rest of the week. Rest of the week,
finish tonight. You're suspended Tomorrow, Thursday, Friday, just like the
Mets from the postseason. Rest of the week. You are suspended.
You're done. You're you're in music jail, music music jail,
Ty Shirt, you're hearing is tomorrow, Well America, it's I.

(15:32):
You don't hear from me. You're you're you're in music jail.
That's it. Bread and water.

Speaker 6 (15:37):
You know.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
So something when I was a kid, like like you know,
you ever hear people talk about things that I thought
would affect me more in my life because I heard
about them a lot as a kid, like h like
quicksand Like when I was a kid, was going to
be affected by quicksand right, like you were afraid to
go on baseball was going to be quick like amnesia.

(15:59):
I thought like I was gonna wind up get I
would hit my head, I'd get amnesia and not recognize anybody.

Speaker 4 (16:03):
Well, I mean you might have the long term concussive
effects that come back on you later.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
And I always thought, hey, if you if you go
to jail, all you get to eat is bread and
water like that was And I'm like, oh.

Speaker 4 (16:13):
And then you watch Law and Order and you found
out it was all blooney sandwiches.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
Just bread and water. Tyshert would never be able to
make it. That's just carbs. Every single actually fast, pretty easy.
So I could just do without anything. Yeah, but that'd
be a long time to fast. How long how long
are you gona be in jail for? Well, if he
gets arrested on a Friday night, I mean there's no
court to see you get till monday, he could probably
do that standing on his head till monday. I'm I'll
do it fast. But if like, if you're awaited, he

(16:36):
had to go to the hole, If you're awaiting your
trial for music jail, I mean you're in music jail
for Watts could be like a week or so.

Speaker 4 (16:42):
Yeah, but he ate at least half a sandwich tonight.
He's in good shape.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
Jason, do you know how many bands you like are
in music jail? Every single one of them. You're in
music jail.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox is the number.

We love bringing you this content every single night. Now
the first salvo has been fired. In the game of
the week in the NFL, Jerry Jones goes on one
oh five to three the Fan in Dallas, as he
normally does everywhere you know, talks about what's upcoming, what

(17:36):
happened for the Cowboys, and what's coming up.

Speaker 4 (17:37):
Yeah, we got a lot of content from Jerry through
the years, and good.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
Jerry ahead of the game of the week. Because Cowboys
Niners is the game of the week Sunday Night football,
the world stops for that game. Obviously. Uh, listen to
him talk about the game. He starts getting chesty and
then realizes maybe that's not a good idea going into
the forty nine ers game. The Jerry Jones you can
hear the part where the gears in his head go,

(18:03):
wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute, don't
thump your chest be deferential to the forty nine ers.
Here's Jerry Jones talking about what needs to happen the
rest of this season. Cowboys Niners both teams with Super
Bowl ideals.

Speaker 6 (18:16):
They are right now probably the most likely team to go.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
In Super Bowl.

Speaker 6 (18:23):
But in order for them to get there, they've got
to go by us, hopefully two times, if that's where
it falls in the playoffs and we're in the playoffs,
of course, but the bottom line is that you're playing
the best. This is certainly you don't need the game
to tell you that you're playing the best, but you

(18:43):
need the game to show you how you stack up
against the best.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
So, yeah, they got to go through us twice. Well,
if the playoffs come oh, but wait a minute, maybe
that's not a good idea to said. So, yeah, but
they are they are the best. They're the best. Right now,
it's gonna he sounds like the Kearnies from that episode
of The Simpsons where they go and they take over
their house and then Homer is able to get it

(19:10):
back and it's like that guy didn't see it. We
were beaten by the best. That Purty Brock is pretty good.
He's a good player. And the other guy, McCaffrey, I
remember his dad tried to get him on the team,
but he was on another team so it didn't happen.
Before you see Jerry Jones trying to get chesty. Hey,

(19:33):
they got to go through us, hopefully twice. We get
we get him in the playoffs after this week, and
then he kind of backs off a little bit. First
thing I'm gonna say is this, Cowboys, you want zero
forty nine or smoke? You want zero forty nine or
smoke right now? Because what's gonna happen Sunday ain't gonna
be pretty all right now. Obviously things can change the

(19:55):
season goes on. You don't know how teams are going
to evolve. Were just the quarter point of the season.
You know how injuries are going to go, how players
are going to evolve and continue to play better or
play worse. But right now you want zero forty nine
or smoke, because this game Sunday is gonna look a
lot like the playoff game they played in January, except
the Niners are gonna score more points. It's not gonna

(20:17):
be pretty for the Cowboys. The Niners are loaded everywhere,
They're playing at an extremely high level. They win going away,
even when Deebo Samuel catches one pass. Nobody has big
games against the Niners defense. Nobody does. Nobody has. There's
not one player you could say, boy, this guy he
worked over the nine to dway. Josh Dobbs had a
pretty nice game last week, but he didn't win the game.

(20:38):
It wasn't closed. But you are talking about a team
that doesn't give up anything and an offense that is
playing at a pretty high level. This is gonna be
a game where the Cowboys struggle to score and the
Niners score a little bit more than they did least.
So instead of seventeen twelve nineteen twelve, it's gonna be
thirty four to twelve. They will put points on the board.
It's gonna be a game where forty nine ers continue

(21:01):
motoring on because they are the best team. They're the
best team in the NFL right now. Through four games,
we've seen that. We've seen the Hey, the Dolphins look
pretty good. Naw, the Dolphins falter. Cowboys look pretty good. Nah,
the Cowboys faltered. Hey, the Eagles are undefeated, Yeah, but
they don't look nearly as good and are nearly as
complete and playing out a level that the forty nine
ers are at. You want zero forty nine or smoke

(21:22):
right now because Sunday is going to end in a blowout.
And here's the other part of it is that if
you are the Cowboys, I don't even want to talk
about this being a measuring stick game. I don't want
to talk about it because the Cowboys have decided to
go emotional from the beginning of this season, right going
first game against the Giants, emotional. We couldn't wait to
get on the plane play that game. We blew them out.
They talked a lot after same thing going into their

(21:44):
home opener against the Dallas Cowboys against the New York Jets,
right then they came out flat against the Cardinals, believing
out great, there's going to show up and win, and
they didn't win. And then last week another big blowout
of a team that maybe Belichick's got. Nope, this is
not even going to be close. The Cowboys are really emotional,
and the danger of that is, what do I tell you?

(22:04):
You can't play the super Bowl every week because when
you lose that, you can get really low, really fast.
And if the Cowboys look at this as a measuring
stick game, and then they're coming in with a lot
of attitude because they think they're the best, and certainly
they like to talk, and their defense likes to talk,
and Dak Prescott always likes to say, don't forget about me,
I'm still really good. I them. They like to talk.

(22:25):
They want to get pounded in this game. Where do
you go from there? Hey, we're great, but you just
lost by thirty the forty nine ers, but we're still great.
You have to treat this game as it's just one
of seventeen because the after effects if you go all
in emotionally and spend all week talking about this game
and all week getting a and you lose big time

(22:46):
when you decide to play that way and you make
every week the super Bowl, the lows get really low
and losses pile up and season gets out of control.
I go the exact opposite for the Cowboys. You're gonna
get smoked this week. Treat this as just another game.
Don't talk about a measuring stick, don't talk about just say, hey,
we're going out, there's gonna be a great game, We're
excited to play. Forty nine ers are good, and hey,

(23:08):
it's a nice game for us here week five. But
don't treat this as anything more than that, because the lows,
when you get pounded, they're gonna be tough to come
back from. Not gonna lie.

Speaker 4 (23:15):
This one truly intriguing, great Sunday night matchup, one that
it's a three and a half point line San Francisco
favorite at home, And truly, I do believe, whether they
should say it or not, it is kind of a
measuring stick because through the first quarter of the season
you're looking around going, all right, we bludgeoned these opponents,

(23:37):
but we can all stipulate.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
That they're pretty poor. As far as you know our Power.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
Five rankings that we do at the top of it, well,
they're down towards the bottom right bottom ten bottom third,
whatever you want to do. When we start looking at
their opponents New England right now, they're a mess Arizona.
They try hard, they're gonna be in some game they
may sting in. They certainly jumped up and bit the

(24:04):
the Cowboys by playing some bully ball behind James Connor
and they went after it and he banged up online.
And that's where we're at with the Cowboys right now.
The concern for a matchup of this caliber this week is,
you know, Parsons tweaked his foot, you still have issues
on your offensive line. Is trying to get those guys together,
find some semblance of consistency there. Obviously Digs is out

(24:28):
of the secondary, so covering that up and and trying
to figure out, you know, what that rotation looks like
and who's got responsibilities when you've got Kittle and Ayuk
and Deebo Samuel coming back at you and some of
the secondary talents in the receiving corps. Not to mention
everything that McCaffrey is and then some right now and

(24:50):
Purdy's been you know, we're having the debate now and
you know you're ranking quarterbacks of where Purdy is relative
to Dak and all of that. So you know, that's
the fun next extension of all his dack After the
game on Sunday was being asked about forty nine aer
week and the feelings that it brings up and how
he felt after the playoff loss, and they looked at

(25:12):
the guy said, you're just trying to piss me off
right now. I appreciate that. I appreciate that. And for
a third time, not twice, but thrice, I appreciate that.
So yeah, I mean, this one's been circled for quite
a while. It's national TV. It's a show up or
get shown up kind of game that we're looking for

(25:34):
because we've had a bunch of also ran miserable.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
Yeah, it's been a tough experiences and we're gonna get Okay,
I'm sorry, but we're gonna get another game on Thursday
night that maybe is good. I don't want to say
he was playing. I want people to be a look
Thursday Fox Sports Radio. Now you want entertainment, Yeah, we're
talking about the NFL. Here on Thursday, Layer to Post,
we're talking about the NFL. No show will be as entertaining.

(25:58):
Why can't I Why can't I find what game is
on Thursday. Every news website just says NFL Game five
and it's on Amazon. So maybe they'll have a special
for you to buy something. Maybe they'll be too. Just
know that we'll be talking about the NFL and the
NFL game on Thursday night.

Speaker 4 (26:15):
No, but excited for this one. I don't think it's
a burial, but certainly for the Cowboys. Can they match
the physicality?

Speaker 6 (26:22):
Right?

Speaker 4 (26:22):
We've seen some big point totals, We've seen some big
displays by this squad. Now, now you're you're really facing
a team that is on your level or perhaps above it.
And Jerry even alludes to it before realizing, Hey, wait
a minute, we're pretty good too. I can't say they're
better than us. Although I just did.

Speaker 1 (26:45):
You know, when I'm trying to, you know, backtrack while
I'm talking, it gets a little bit more difficult. Well
did you hear that truck back it up part? Sometimes?
You know I'm talking, I'm listening and I'm talking and
you're listening, and it just guess a little more difficult sometimes.
That how it is. Now, the whole thing you want
to break this down and talk about physicality is I

(27:05):
look at this as it needs to be about something different,
not quite the physicality of this game, but this needs
to be about turnovers. If the Cowboys have any hope
of winning this game, they need turnovers and they need
Brock Purdy to give them the football. And this is
a guy who this year has not thrown an interception,
and last year through four in starting the vast majority

(27:28):
of the season, he doesn't turn the football over. There's
nothing the Cowboys going to be able to do that
are going to force him to turn the football over
outside of hitting him in the pocket hoping you get
sacked in fumbles, because if he starts struggling, what's gonna happen.
It's going to be short plays, pass line scrimmage of
Deebo Samuel. It's gonna be a heavy dose of Christian McCaffrey.
That's how they're gonna do it. They're just too good.

(27:50):
But if the Cowboys the only hope is they got
to put crooked number turnover wise on that scoreboard. And
Purdy's not the guy to give it to them. If
he was a quarterback that I thought, Hey, he'll give
you the football, little bit. He's gonna make plays, But
he's also gonna be the football. I would give the
Cowboys a puncher's chance. But while that's the only thing
that I can see the Cowboys being in this game on,

(28:10):
party's not that quarterback to do it again. It's gonna
be a stomp. It's gonna be a stomp, and the
Niners are gonna win in the Cowboys. Hopefully they will
have enough to bounce back from this and go, Okay,
we just got our asses kicked. Now we got to
make sure. Okay, let's get mentally right for the rest
of the season, and we'll worry about the playoffs if
we have to run into them again. You like crushing people.
I'm telling you, man, towt's gonna go to? How What's

(28:31):
gonna go?

Speaker 2 (28:31):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
Is this rush? Tell me? Are you tired of the
same old story? Turn some bad chess music? Jail Cavin
in the Woods is on one of our TVs, and
it's the role with the changes scene. It's my favorite
scene in the movie last twenty years, without a doubt. Really, Oh,
it's so good. It's better than that Lobot movie. You

(29:00):
watch ste other dudude, I saw the Creator, so you
don't have to. I appreciate you taking one right there,
the cabinet, the roll with the change scene and cabin
they just cut right from she's getting murdered by this,
by this, you know this, this supernatural being in suddenly boom,
it's a party. Let's roll with the changes. It's the

(29:23):
best I was listening to on the way into work today.
I listen roll with the changes all the time. I
can roll with the changes there there you really give
a little bit of Kevin Crown and sure it's interesting.
I was listening in the new Stones Gaga collaboration. Oh
how is that Stevie wonder on there too? Really good?
Is it good?

Speaker 6 (29:39):
Right?

Speaker 1 (29:40):
It's very very old, soulful kind of thing where they
channeled a little bit of the old gimme shelter kind
of feel to it. Yeah, but I bet nobody heard
it from her friend who heard it from a friend
who know they didn't other you were messing around. No,
I I just told you directly learned that lesson and America,
you learn that less Speaking of lessons learned, this is

(30:02):
a great one. It's great for us. It's great for
you and I because now the birth of the new
great rivalry in the NBA is here. It has been
an off season in which we have watched the NBA
champion Denver Nuggets and the Lakers engaging a war of
words that is just spectacularly fun. You add Michael Malone,

(30:23):
head coach of the Nuggets, who has been upset for
the last three months that the Lakers get attention even
when they lose and his team doesn't get enough of it. Right,
why are we talking about Lebron retiring? Well, why are
we talking about the Lakers almost beat us in Game one?
We're the better team. We're are the better team. Now
the Lakers live rent free in his head. And that's
not the end of it. You had Lebron and Michael

(30:45):
Malone go at it on Instagram. You had Darvin Ham
do a podcast saying this blank ain't over. Both sides
are ready for the resumption of this rivalry. This year
go to be awesome. We got Opening Night, we got
Denver in LA, and here you are media this time
the Lakers. You figure, all right, maybe they're done talking
about what's going on with the Nuggets. No, no, no, no, No,

(31:07):
here's Austin Reeves Captain America from today on the rivalry
with the Nuggets, at how much they've been talking in
the offseason and how whatever they've been saying has been
about LA.

Speaker 5 (31:17):
I think everybody knows it was pointed at us. You know,
they can do it indirectly, you know, if they won.

Speaker 1 (31:24):
But you know, I think it was very.

Speaker 5 (31:25):
Obvious to you know, the public guy. That's why everybody
was talking about it. Yeah, you see stuff. Me personally,
I'm trying my best to stay on social media. I'm
look at all that stuff. To me, you know, I
go play every game the way.

Speaker 1 (31:39):
You know, I'm gonna go.

Speaker 5 (31:40):
Play the first game against them. But I think it,
you know, adds a little bit of motivation to you know,
go play really well.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
Yeah, that's really Look, it's fun for us and I
love it. But I wouldn't be doing my job if
we didn't talk about. Hey, the Nuggets should really just
shut up. You're the champs, you won, You're upset, you're
not getting the intention of the Lakers. Guess what. Wherever
Lebron James is, that's where the attention goes. He's the
most popular player in the NBA. He's been the most

(32:10):
popular player. He's the most popular athlete in the world
not named Taylor Swift. He is it. Yes, I'm sorry
that when the Lakers lose and Lebron speaks, Lebron makes
news and you don't. That's kind of how it goes.
But you're the champs. You're looking at Hey, we're gonna repeat.
We gotta worry about this year. We had everything go
right for us last year. We didn't have injuries anything,

(32:30):
didn't have a lot of adversity. We had a favorable
draw in the playoffs, we didn't play highly seated teams.
We got the Lakers when they were older and at
the end of their run, because they were tired at
the end. We got to worry about repeating. But instead
they seem insistent on engaging in this war of words
with the Lakers when it's dude, you're the champs. You
should be above everything else. As you said earlier in

(32:51):
the show, you don't punch down. And not only the Nuggets.
They want to punch down. They want to have a fight.
I don't want to punch down. I want to have a
full fight where I'm standing up here, you're standing on
here and I'm just raining punches down on you. I'm
gonna keep punching all the way un till I can
punched you through the floor. You don't do that.

Speaker 6 (33:07):
Well.

Speaker 4 (33:07):
There's there's two parts to it, though, I you know,
punching down, Yeah, that that to a point. The other
though is sometimes you gotta trumpet your own arrival. And
for the Denver Nuggets, they watched a lot of press,
a lot of ink about Lebron James, about what the
Lakers did, about the greatness and breakthrough. That is Austin

(33:29):
reees what kind of contracts are he gonna get whatever?
It's like, Hey, you know what we're winning over here?
We want some love too. I mean, we worked in
a business, right, Not often do you do you get
the full champion, where you're getting the full thrust of
what's going on. So sometimes you have to raise your
own hand and say, hey, I retweeted this at Swollen Dome,
go look at our content. This argument that we had

(33:49):
about Daniel Jones from yesterday in the wake of that contest.
It's that kind of thing. And that's when I think
Malone and his players. Jokich has he doesn't care. He
on his title, He got to go home and ride
in the sulky and hang out in the clubs. He
has no idea who the hell Dion Sanders is and
life is beautiful.

Speaker 1 (34:07):
Wait when I left, I didn't know what Who was
this guy? If you liked what he's doing, who never
heard of him? So it's that kind of thing where
I think part of it is, yeah, you're in this
war of words, but the Lakers have they like to
talk like Lebron talks about himself at every turn in
the third person. You know this, you know season and

(34:30):
all of the talk out of media day, it's like, oh,
he's devoting it to his son, which is great. But
now it's the all right, what do you got left
in the tank? You know, the camaraderie with Anthony Davis,
what's he going to be able to do the tanking
rules that are in or i should say the load
management rules that are in place, and all of those
people are looking right at Anthony Davis and Lebron James

(34:52):
for those So I mean, there's a lot of chirping,
but from the nuggets side of it, it's like, you know,
we're pretty good, y'all should have been bowing down us
a little bit too. Instead of worrying about whether James
Harden is gonna be able to force his way out
of Philadelphia or the Lakers are getting drummed by us,
We're really gonna have to worry about James Harden as
a story. I'd be really showing up though rumors he's
gonna actually show up and work out with him. Does

(35:14):
that mean we have to talk about him or these
we don't have to talk about. I just referenced him.
Now it's done for the week. Oh, very good, Very good.
I don't punch down, but they wouldn't want to have
a fight. Don just win, Just go you're the champs.

Speaker 6 (35:27):
Man.

Speaker 1 (35:27):
That's the advice. That's the old rule of thum. Just
wind outside of that. Hey, keep it coming, man, This
is fun exit out about a Fresca exit Swelling Dome.
Jason Smith, Mike Harmon, Livethtirack dot Com Studios coming up next.
