not just I.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Hadn't stopped, because you know, I have I have a
wife and kid and things to do.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
You tell them piss off. I have to finish.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Yeah, let you go. You just sit by yourself in
front of your TV all day and play Fortnite and
get on Twitch and talk about anime.
Speaker 5 (03:01):
I have responsibilities, so half that is right. I wouldn't
touch Fortnite. That's for kids, but I do do Twitch
a lot.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
Okay, very good.
Speaker 5 (03:08):
So I'm gonna go on a limb here. I'm gonna
go really old school and say that first Exorcist.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Okay, that's not the second one, that just oh god, no,
the first Okay, the heretic wasn't bad.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
Though, but yeah, that's an acquired taste.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
Okay, I'm gonna say the first one.
Speaker 5 (03:24):
So the answer is, dost Boot.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
That's not a horror movie. That was about a submarine
in World War Two.
Speaker 5 (03:32):
To me, that was a horror movie because can you
imagine being a submarine in a submarine during those times?
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Yeah, but there was no like Michael Myers on board
that was.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
There was a should have been.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
It was like if you're talking about like Friday the
Thirteenth part ten, Jason and Space where hey in space Jason. Okay,
that's a horror movie. Dost Boot. What jurg In proc
mout dots boot. I think he's kind of talking at it.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
I think he was thinking about that vampire movie that yeah,
not about three months ago.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
Okay, that's not also in beer Fest?
Speaker 1 (04:03):
No? No, yes, yes it was.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
It was yeah, dost Boot.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Okay, well, oh side Shay, you want to give a
give an offer before I give mine?
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Harm I want to answer last. I'm Mike Harmon.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
Hello Clarice.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Oh no, I will give you a hit because I
want to say this, because I firmly believe this. It
is not Silence of the Lambs. That is not a
horror movie. Star horror movie, It's not. Yes, the answer
is star. I knew it, all right, shake, go ahead,
buddy Magic. That's that's dead air, so magic, so I'll
(04:43):
dial it up.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
I wanted to go in the really way back machine,
but I don't know if this counts as horrors Aliens
a horror.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
Movie, alien or aliens? Which one Aliens? So the sequel,
the sequel.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
Just one alien re.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Okay, So you're going Aliens. Tyser's going Exorcist, all right.
Fenley is guessing dots boot and Jay is guessing silence.
The only radio format that has never worked silence. That is,
it's lots of other formats work, silence is not one
of them. Uh okay, So those are your answers. I
will tell you that. My answer, my wife said to me,
(05:25):
was I was had it between two of them, and
one of them was what one of you guessed, which
was the right answer, and the other one was what
I guessed, which was the wrong answer because I said
Rosemary's Baby. Yeah, rose Baby. A lot of oscars that
but not nominated for enough. The correct answer nominated for
(05:46):
ten Academy Awards. Is in fact dots boot dos boot. Yes,
you're just front. No it's not. The answer is the Exorcist?
Speaker 3 (05:59):
You go?
Speaker 1 (06:00):
Best Director, Best Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, screenplay, art direction, cinematography,
film editing, and sound.
Speaker 5 (06:08):
Do you know why I guess that, Jason, because you
looked it up and cheated because you just saw the
steel Box.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
And not Tom Looney. I wouldn't cheat.
Speaker 5 (06:16):
Also, though, I just remember when I was a kid,
everybody kept talking about that movie.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
So that's why. Okay, alright, it's seemed pretty iconic for
its time.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
He still is.
Speaker 5 (06:25):
You've had it done right, You've had an exorcism on you.
Are we talking about legally or illgally?
Speaker 1 (06:30):
What do we do?
Speaker 4 (06:30):
I don't know that.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
There's a priest comes and suddenly Tycher starts acting like
an automate character, but he's doing things that only animate characters.
Look at that. Look at that he's turning to Pikachu.
He's Pikachu.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
Look at that, imas I don't think.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Wait now he's talking like Ryan Renolts. He thinks he's
Detective Pikachu.
Speaker 5 (06:53):
Oh okay, by the way, terrible roll by him. Bad
job really is his worst role how.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Many roles is Ryan Rental had that have been good?
Not mad? Deadpool and Welcome Direction. That's it. That's Ryan Reynolds.
That's the best thing to Deadpool and Welcome Direction. Hot take,
that's what he's about. Harold and Kumar go to Whitecastle.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
He's not guy's a girl and.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Harold and Kumar. That was cal Pen I think was
wasn't Ryan in that?
Speaker 5 (07:20):
Like a supporting actor?
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Well?
Speaker 3 (07:22):
That was Neil Patrick Harris, Yeah, a little bit of
a reboot or Neil Patrick Harris, Ryan Reynolds, Neil Patrick Harris.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
You know one of those guys. Oh good, No, I
will you know what? No, No, Free Guy was really good,
dead Guy. I enjoyed a lot pol Free Guy and
Welcome Direction. That's it. That Adam movie, what was that? No,
that was the wrong No no no, no, no, no, no,
no Adam and he sang strip in nineteen eighty three,
Don't drink, don't smoke, Adam's family no no, or Adam's
(07:50):
family values and then neither of them, neither of them.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
He wasn't a horror movie. Jason, just really just.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
Really quick what I will say about Ryan Reynolds And
this is crazy watching welcome direction, which, oh my goodness,
I can't tell you what a great show it is.
They give you like a a movie, cinema quality documentary
every week, and in the story is fantastic. But there's
times when I watch and I go, right, I look
at Ryan Reynlds and I go, he really knows absolutely
(08:15):
nothing about sports. Like there's times when you know, because
Rob mclaney is this and this, and then and then
I watched Ryan Reuls. I go, he really had no idea.
He had no idea what that's all about. He has
absolutely no knowledge of sports.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
Once a while his reaction shots to some of the
big moments in games. You're a little slow there, Yeah,
And I like that.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
Sometimes they use him to explain what's going on, like
the show, he's an authority. Well, we have to play
the game again if we wind up tying, so we
don't go to we don't go to an extra penalty
or overtime or anything. Oh right, we're gonna show him
explaining something like he really knows. But there's I catch him.
I go, he's deer in headlights. He has no idea,
he has no idea what this.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Is between his booze and phone stuff. I can't blame
the game. He's made some astute business moves.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Well he has. I mean, look, Rob mclaney's the guy
that said, look, I got like, you know, ten bucks,
how much do you have? And Ryan Reynolds says, well,
I got like five hundred million. Okay, we'll use your
money and we'll come way to go. Yeah, we'll use
your money.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
It's always folks, if you can use other people's money,
do it.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
The Jason smithser with Mike Carmon lifthtirec dot Com Studios. Now,
the latest two follies in the Michigan cheating scandal came
out today, and boy are they just whoppers. Man. Look,
we told you when this story first broke there's gonna
be something new every day about this because when you
(09:39):
get busted basically for spygate in college football, there's gonna
be something new every day. It's gonna be team saying, hey,
we were kind of nervous about this guy, or there's
video of this guy in the stands, or there's coaches
who are doing halftime interviews saying, ah, this wasn't really
exactly what we thought it was gonna be in the
first half and and now we're finding out more about
the guy himself, Connor Stallions, And there's two big things
(10:03):
that came out today, And the first one I just
shake my head and go, this guy was like an
inner circle guy of some kind at Michigan right. Connor
Stallions twenty eight years old, former Armed Forces Special Forces
in the Army. One of the stories that came out
today is that he and another guy that worked for
Michigan football wrote the Michigan Manifesto, which was a five
(10:26):
to six hundred page document about how they were gonna
take over Michigan football at some point. Now I want
to read this because I want to know, is is
your takeover meaning like, hey, we're gonna we're gonna get
everybody else riddled and scandal and be the only ones
left standing. Is the takeover gonna be something where it's corporate,
where we're gonna have money and we're gonna buy the university?
And sees it like, what's this how you're gonna take
(10:47):
over Michigan football.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
I don't understand plan, the work, work the plan, I
know what I mean. So the one that they always saying,
you want to write you you want to call yourself
a writer get to write. Does it have to be good?
Just grab a piece of paper and start scrolling. In
this case, you're saying, what do you want to do?
I want to own the Denver Broncos, but they want
to own the Dallas Cowboys. Oh, the Denver Broncos. Well
(11:12):
you just don't understand football, marge. But you've got to
put it out there, right. You got to try to
lev our ball that stuff and speak it in new existence.
So that's what they did in their manifesto. Like you,
I would like to get a hold of it and
then do a dramatic reading. Well, don't you have your
manifesto of taking over Fox Sports Radio? Don't think I
(11:32):
don't know you do? You carry it with you every
night in your back pocket? How to take over Fox Sports?
Speaker 1 (11:37):
Third?
Speaker 3 (11:38):
That's the third section of my backpack.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Yes, I mean, is he like I'm picturing him like
Jerry Maguire when he did he gets that crisis of
conscience and he just writes, Hey, here's what we need
the new manifest for our business. Less clients, more attention
to them, more caring about their family. And he's photo
copying the Kinko's The night.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
You think you got the same positivity is the Kinkos guy.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
Here's our here's our manifesto as we take over. This
guy's on the inner circle man. This is a guy
that was being quote trusted allegedly to get video of
other teams as they as as as they their signals
are put on on on the field so Michigan can
steal them and use them in games. I mean, really,
(12:22):
this is the guy. This is the guy who also, Oh,
by the way, they found an easy way that he
for him to purchase tickets, right, it was very easy
they found it. Oh, he bought tickets to all these
games in his own name. How do you find that?
That's like in the movie when they find the guy
and they go, how could you be so stupid? This
is gonna get traced right back to me. How could
you be so stupid?
Speaker 3 (12:40):
Dude?
Speaker 1 (12:40):
I told you this was how it was done. I
told you to go all the way outside and buy
the burner phones in the next state. But no, you
went down to the corner because you were too lazy,
because you were hanging out with your girlfriend. And then
that guy gets got in the movie.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
But that dude, basically, I mean, look at the budget
though forty games, fifteen grand including travel man that it's
not even buying you a hot dog.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
I mean this is I mean this is he He
wrote the Michigan manifesto, How I'm gonna I'm gonna take
over Michigan football here? You want how to take over
Michigan football here. As you do, you become a coach,
You work your way up to being a good defensive
coordinator or offensive coordinator. You become a head coach. You do,
you succeed there, You succeed for a few years, and
then maybe when the Michigan job is open, you apply
(13:25):
for it, you say you're interested, and they hire you,
or they don't. That's kind of how it works. That's
kind of how works. You coach for a while, you
have a good track record, and somebody hires you. That's
something that's never changed and will never change in one
hundred years of college football, the NFL, or Major League baseball.
How do you become it? Well, you work at it,
you become a coach, you succeed at it, and when
it when the opening comes, maybe they hire you. That's
(13:47):
how it works. That's how you do. It's not like
like how the big takeover is gonna be We're gonna
take over Michigan football. We're gonna turn Jim Harbaugh into
Ai Harball. He's gonna make all these bad mistakes, and
I'm gonna be on camera taking him out and bringing
him and making him taking off the sideline. People will
think I'm a hero and they're gonna make me the
coach of Michigan.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
But that's what he's thinking. I'm gonna be the last
man standing. Look at all the greatness I did, all
the millions of dollars and applicants and all of this
that I brought to Michigan football. Look at all the wins.
So I will be declared to hit hero. What's interesting
is one hard drives and well how they got them?
What's the process and chain of custody and all of that.
(14:29):
Is that like a hacker job like they did with
all the stuff in Las Vegas. Or did they get
a hold of the guy that was spying on other
people and dismissed by the university they somehow crack the
code and get in his or maybe he gave it
up because he's disgruntled at the prossels. Notice nobody's ever gruntled,
(14:50):
but you can be gruntled though, Yeah, you can't be.
We did discuss that.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
But the other thing is all of the h every
article on every write up says they may ed sure
to insulate Harbaugh he has no knowledge. Well, I got
news for you. There was another big ten coach that's
got a multi million dollar lawsuit against the university for
wrongful termination just down the road, who allegedly was insulated
(15:16):
from everything else to.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Twitter at how about a fresco Mike get swollen down
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon live from the
tirerack dot Com Studios. Really, I mean, the silliness just
gets bigger and bigger, and oh, by the way, when
do we tell you what's coming up next? The other
part of this story that broke today maybe even crazier.
We got that, we got the night in the NBA,
we have the Knicks, we have the Celtics, we got Wemby,
(15:41):
we got more. Keep it right here, Jason and Mike Fox.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
I really thought for a second that was gonna be
one shining moment. The way it starts, it kind of
starts the same way with the shumdend, Did it didn't?
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon
Livethetirack dot Com studios, and look, the biggest story in
sports the last few days has been this Michigan sign
stealing scandal. A few minutes ago he told you about
(16:16):
how the guy at the center of it, who had
been allegedly videotaping other teams in their stadium so they
could figure out what their signals are so they can
use the game, wrote a Michigan manifesto about how he
was going to take over the Michigan football program. Oh yeah,
and copy that today or combine it with the story
(16:39):
told by author John H. Bacon, who has written a
lot of books on Michigan. Bacon I was written a
lot of books on Michigan football over the course of
the last twenty years, and the one of the best
college football book I've ever read is one of his
books he called Three and Out about the three seasons
Rich Rodriguez had as a head coach of Michigan. Fantastic book,
(16:59):
and he went on ninety seven won the Fan in
Columbus today and said, well, listen all of this happening.
How is this happening? How did anybody know about what's
going on with the signe stealing scandal? And he said,
think about and watch. A guy named Jim Stapleton, who
is a Michigan booster, longtime Michigan booster who was mentioned
(17:19):
in the book about Rich Rodriguez wanting Rich Rodriguez out.
This guy apparently hates Harbass so much that he's the
guy leaking the information out that started this whole process.
So here's a booster who hates Harbas so much that
I'm leaking this out because he was upset that Harbaugh
tried to lead to become head coach of the Vikings.
(17:41):
And he's also on the board with Minnesota with the Vikings.
This guy's got a lot of money and he's really
upset that Harbor tried to do this. So here's I'm
putting this out there that there are illegal things going
on with taping sign scandals, all because he hates Harbaugh. Now,
first of all, this is some level of hate to
turn your school into collateral damage with this. I hate
(18:03):
Harboss so much I think he's gonna be the head coach.
They'll make me that coach Michigan manifesto could happen for him,
It could happen for me. I could be the head coach.
He hates Harbass so much he's willing to sell his
school down the river, and whatever happens happens. Just because
I hate Jim Harbaugh this much. This is like Emperor
Palpatine amount of hate that just flows through him that
(18:27):
I really want to take care of these coaches. I
want to get Rod Reagan's out, I want to get Harbaugh.
I want to get everybody out at some level of.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
Hate, truly, some next level stuff, right. I saw another
post that goes to vall Quest, and if you look
up vall Quest, it's all things Tennessee Volunteers. And there
was someone back in December that had posted a thing
about my friend, one of my little brother's quote friends,
is a quote unquote scout for them, referring to Michigan.
(18:54):
They paid to him to travel to the UT Vandy game.
Had planned it before a loss, obviously to try to
steal our signs. He's from Nashville originally, so he just
went anyway, even after I lost since it was Thanksgiving,
uh says he and the others are never allowed to
talk to Harbond directly about it. So you've got all
of this spiraling around, Right. We've seen the clips of
(19:15):
coaches complaining, but yeah, now you've got someone that's truly
you got a manifesto, and you got a guy working
a Macavelian plan because Harbaugh didn't come to his kid's
birthday party or some crap I mean, or he just
hates all Michigan coaches. After a while, all right, it's
time for them to go.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
It's just this is I hate him so much. I'm
willing to see whatever punishment comes to Michigan trap because
of it. Because that's the That's the other part of this.
The most shocking part about this is not because we've
seen the scandal, We've seen Spygate, but the reaction that
I'm seeing from a lot of people in treating this
with a shrug. And this goes from college football to analysts, where, yeah,
(19:59):
is this something you should be doing? Probably not? Was
it that big a deal? Right? Like many analysts I've
seen going, Yeah, teams try to steal signals all the time, right,
Brian Kelly Wade in today going, if we would just
have electronic headsets, he could do things, we could talk
to the quarterbacks, this stuff wouldn't happen, right, Sue. And
then you had Dean Sanders saying, yeah, okay, this is
(20:20):
something that Yeah, you're not supposed to do it, but
it's up to us to be able to stop it.
I am really surprised with the overall attitude of yet
is this really that big a deal? Because everybody's missing
the point. All everybody here is say that is missing
the point. The NCAA is telling you this is a
big deal to us. Might not be a big deal
to you. You might think, ah, this is not the biggest,
(20:41):
but it's a big deal to us. You have already
seen that the NCAA has got to be in their
bonnet for Jim Harball. Right. You go back to cheeseburger Gate,
where the big question was all Harbaugh bought these kids cheeseburgers.
He's gonna get a suspension, And the NCAA weighs in
saying it's not just a hamburger. WHOA. When does the
NCAA ever way in on an investigation? No, but they
(21:03):
hate Harbaugh for whatever reason. So they weigh in on it,
and he gets a suspension to start this year, and
he may get a suspension for next year. You can
tell they have something going towards Harball and this is
still a big deal. It's still not something you can do.
And the fact that they're investigating it and they're seizing computers.
They went to Schennbeckler Hall and seize this guy's computer
(21:25):
and they're trying to find all the different electronic pieces
of evidence. How do you think this is gonna end?
Do you really think this is gonna end with saying, hey,
you shouldn't do this and you're gonna be on probation.
That's not how this is gonna end. This is gonna
end with Michigan being ruled ineligible to win the Big
Ten and they're not gonna get invited to the CFP,
right because the CFP and the NCAA have no jurisdiction
(21:48):
over each other. So even if the NCAA says, look,
you're ineligible to win the Big Ten the College Football playoff,
but he could say we still want you in the playoffs,
that's not gonna happen. They're not gonna invite a team
that the NCAA has said, hey, we're making you an
eligible bull as punishment because of what you've been doing
stealing signs. Right, that's not they're not They're not gonna
say we're gonna be Mavericks and do that. No, they
want to have a good relationship with the NCAA. They
(22:09):
don't want to upset other coaches, other teams to be
seen as we are pro cheaters. If that's how it goes.
If this happens, it's gonna get designed. It's gonna get
figured out pretty fast. By the time we get to
conference championship weekend, this will be figured out, and it
will be Michigan can't win the Big Ten. You can
play in the game, whatever games you're playing, but you
(22:31):
can't win the Big Ten in Ohio State. By qualifying
for the Big Ten Championship as already the Big Ten champion,
whatever it's going to be, they will be ineligible for
that and they will wind up not being able to
go to the College Football Playoff. That's how this is
gonna end. Because even you could say, well they really
want to get Harbaugh, Well, if they wait till after
the season, guess what Harbaugh's gone. Man he's like Markinson
(22:51):
in a few comment there is no Markinson. Markinson's gone, man,
He's he's gone, He's going to the NFL. It's well,
I'm not coming back. I'm not coming back as done.
I'm lee. They gotta get him somehow. And can you
really think that a punishment of well, we're gonna ban Harbaugh?
Who does that? Right? You can't just ban the coach
and say the team is good, but we're banning the coach.
(23:11):
How can you just ban the coach and the team
is allowed to play. That doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
So that's how this is gonna end. I get that
that it may not be that big a dealer. You
may not think it's that big a deal, and many
analysts and coaches do, but the NCAA is telling you
this is all their actions are. This is a big deal.
We're investigating this now. We're not gonna wait till the
(23:31):
offseason to say, Okay, now Michigan's ineligible for next year
or horrible whatever it is. This is gonna end up.
Michigan's not gonna be able to play in the CFP
because they'll be ineligible and they're not gonna get selected
that's how this ends in sometime in the next month,
as long as there's the evidence that they have to
make this happen.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
Yeah, everything circulating on X that we've done on and
at how about a fresco at swollen dome. Look, the
point is generally they don't move swiftly. Now, this is intriguing,
right the election tronic seizure, how that came to be
the original investigation by this firm that came looking for
hard drives and data? Is it a hacking thing? Did
(24:13):
they what did they get and how did they procure it?
Like those details I'd really like in this process, No
question about it. But certainly the hey, let's go get harball,
Like what else is going on? Going back to the
cheeseburger thing where they shouldn't have been commenting allowed on it,
but they decided to help with it.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
We're going to that you have all of this tied together.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
And I think for the coaches, Jason, you know, just
my theory to it all is, to a man to
a program, they are going to minimize it, trivialize it
as best they can. You know why, because somewhere in
their books, somewhere in their electronic communication someone could just decide,
(25:00):
you know what, these messages between your assistant coaches and
some random booster just don't read write. So let's kick
in your doors and start walking around campus. Maybe we
get lucky on a computer. Right, we've all always watched
Law and Order whatever else. Oh, look what we found here, Like, oh, ellie,
it's like that's illegal. No, hey, we saw the computer.
(25:22):
Now it's part of the process and we're gonna go
look at it. So it's one of those I think
for each of these coaches you try to kick the
NC double away saying hey.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
There's nothing to see here.
Speaker 3 (25:34):
Everybody tries to gain an advantage beat it because if
you start sniffing around all these programs generally, and look,
I'm not calling people a bunch of lion cheating dirt
bags unless they are. And if they feel that way,
then they're guilty.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
But that unless you really are one of those.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
Yeah, but I mean there might be something in the
program that is an one hundred percent on the level, right,
and especially in today's day and age, as we're you know,
really embracing and trying to figure out what the code
will be about nil and all of these other things.
What are permissible benefits. When can you recruit, when you keep?
When can you not? You know, COVID was such a
(26:18):
crazy time, is what Jim Harbaugh would say, if you
would admit to anything even halfway. But it's the just
don't come knocking on my door. You know, it's trivialize it,
minimize it, because anything else that comes up may become
that big a deal, that much bigger a deal. So
leave Harball alone. Brittany's doing okay, she's got her book
(26:41):
that's selling like it's Harry Potter and everything else. So
get that kid to keep yelling. Leave Harball alone.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
Yeah, I think everybody in Michigan would love that. Unfortunately,
it's not gonna happen that way. It's good, Oh no, it's.
Speaker 3 (26:56):
The curiosity, right, look, all right, which guy is outside
of this lunatic booster that hasn't happened for a har Ball,
mister Bacon outside of that? You know, it's it's the
process of all right, who in the NC douable a decided,
you know, we need one more big show of power
here as this world shifts.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
I think that's really the.
Speaker 3 (27:21):
Million dollar question here, which which person in those offices
really wants to make this the capital case that that
it is.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
Get Ready, Michigan ineligible, not in the playoff. Get Ready.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
This is all though, like we talked about it all week,
going back to last week, this is all a perfectly
executed ploy by you to never have to visit Detroit
in the holidays.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
Again. We're actually talking about going to Detroit. So I
love going to Detroit. You're not going now, I love
going there.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
Are you going to send your plane back?
Speaker 1 (27:54):
I said, the Lions are going to the super Bowl,
and Jared Goff can win MVP. Of course, And then
they went and played a good He even got their asses. Kid. Yeah,
you know, I got some messages from my wife's family going, hey,
thanks for cursing golf, jerk. See it's fourteen nothing going
to the second quarter. We have six yards of offense.
(28:15):
I'm like, that's not my fault. Oh play but now,
but no, it's my fault. It is all your fault.
Right now, speaking of guys who it's all their fault,
it's Brian Finley because he's got what's trending right now
in the wide world of sports.
Speaker 5 (28:27):
But yeah, I'm always the one to tell well, thank you.
I'm always the one that takes to blame Tysher was.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
Always going to give you breaking news there. I heard
thee up.
Speaker 5 (28:36):
Yeah, it's you know, the yeah, oh yeah, gosh. I
can't believe Jonas voiced that anyway. Yeah, so let's get
into the NBA and what's happened here and all the
games have gone final and I would hope so, since
we're talking to you at ten thirty seven in the
(28:57):
after the evening, excuse me that.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Wow, well, seven is never an afternoon time though, It's
never it's either a morning time or what do you mean, Really,
it's either a morning time or a nighttime. What do
you mean? It's never an after Oh my god, where'd
you go to college? Where's you go to college?
Speaker 4 (29:14):
UNC? Greensboro?
Speaker 1 (29:15):
Okay, hang on, note to self, don't send your kids
to yours in Hoopborough. They won't know how to tell
time there.
Speaker 5 (29:20):
Although in some parts of the world, when it is
that time of year where it's light all day and
all night, it might feel like an afternoon, say like
in Alaska during the summer. But I try, good, try,
I was trying to sell Yeah, I was trying. Hey,
As far as good efforts, the hornets one sixteen to
one ten against the Hawks. PJ. Washington had twenty five points.
(29:42):
Mike Carmen's Pacers are a one forty three shelling of
the Wizards one forty three to one twenty the final
score there. As far as the Celtics, they pick apart
the next one O eight to one O four from
Madison Square guard and Chris tops Porzingis in his Celtics debut.
He shined with his thirty points and made some key
(30:03):
buckets down the stretch. The magic cross off. The Rockets
won sixteen to eighty six. The Cavaliers stand up the
nets one fourteen to one thirteen. Of all the heat
they dog the Pistons one O three to one oh two.
Bayam Adebayo at twenty two points and eight to rebounds.
The Timberwolves lose on the road ninety seven to ninety
four against the Raptors. Anthony Edwards twenty six points, scored
(30:26):
his team's first ten points of the game. Chet Holmgren,
in his debut in the NBA for the Thunder, won
twenty four to one oh four. The Thunder win against
the Bulls, and Holmgren had eleven points. The Pelicans step
on the Grizzlies on eleven to one oh four at
FedEx Forum, where Desmond, being in a losing effort, did
have thirty one points. The Kings over the Jazz won
(30:46):
thirty to one fourteen, Harrison Barnes going strong with his
thirty three points. Victor webin Yama had fifteen points. The
Star snutted Phenom and his debut in the NBA, but
it was all for not considering that his Spurs lost
one twenty six to one nineteen at home against the Mavericks,
where Luka ancichad one of those which he has seemingly
(31:08):
every game, a triple double headlined by the thirty three points,
and the Clippers take a baseball bat to the Trailblazers
one twenty three to one eleven. Paul George had twenty
seven points, six assists and three steals, which, as I
sent it back to Mike Harmon and Jason Smith, Jason,
I thought when I was talking to you before you
mentioned to me that was your high stat line twenty
(31:30):
seven points in a JV basketball game for you in
high school when you were a senior.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
Oh dude, I could never make the basketball team my school.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
No, even as a senior in JV.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
Yeah, no, I did. Now. Well you know, listen, I
didn't really find my outside shot till I got into college,
so it would have been too tough.
Speaker 4 (31:45):
I didn't know you ever had one.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
Yeah. Oh, I'm a good outside shooter. Now, I'm a
good I'm one of those heat check guys, though, Come,
I give it to me, Give it to me. You
missed your last three, but heat check, heat checking on,
I pick another one. I'm picking another Oh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5 (31:57):
But that's when there's no hand in your face. Uh,
that's the best story.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
Well, I find the empty spot. I feel there's no defender.
Oh yeah, I could do that.
Speaker 3 (32:05):
He keeps moving without the ball, Fendly, that's right.
Speaker 1 (32:09):
Just when you don't have the ball doesn't mean you're
not contributing. Okay, there you go. All right, thank you
very much, my friend, appreciate it. The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon Livethtirack dot Com Studios.

(32:30):

doesn't play this week. Wait what Yeah, it's gonna happen
as well. That's coming up next right here, Jason and
Mike Fox.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon Live fromthetire rack dot Com studios. We
have the play the Night come on your way in
a couple of minutes, and a big story out of
the NFL. But congratulations to WBZFM and Boston the Sports
Station of the Year winning the award. They've won a
(33:06):
Marconi at the Marconi Awards tonight, and it's all for
their coverage of how I said Bill Belichick's lost his
fastball and he should be let go as head coach
at the end of this year.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
And how I said on the second quarter that they'd
be better and vex your jets.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
Hang on, hang on, No, that was not part of it.
I'm reading it right now what Jason Smith said a
long time ago about how this year was gonna be
it for Belichick. Nothing, Mike Harmon said, I'm reading it
right here from WBZ they put out the press release.
It's right here, that's right, Okay, So I'm sorry that
I'll work harder for next year. Yeah, that's all right.
You gotta work, gotta work. But hey, winning Marconi is
a really, really big deal. And of course we're on
(33:44):
WBZ the last two hours of our show, the entirety
of Ben Mallor show coming up next. That is some
kind of achievement winning a Marconi WBZFM and Boston congracts.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
Congratulations and thanks for having us along for the ride.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
Now, speaking of Boston, everybody thinks that Brock Purdy is
the next Tom Brady. Right, maybe not so much after
the last couple of weeks. But now, in a really
weird twist and turn of events, we could find out
how good brock Purdy is this weekend. If he doesn't play.
Wait what he's in concussion protocol. Started feeling bad on
(34:18):
the flight home from Minnesota. It's not known exactly where
he got hit. Potentially it could have been after a
couple of quarterback sneaks in the second half, but the
forty nine ers don't know. Kyle Shanahan doesn't know, but
he is in concussion protocol and is Iffy for their
game Sunday against Cincinnati if he does not play, and
being concussion protocol midway through the week does not really
(34:40):
pourtend to the fact that I'm gonna play. It'll be
Sam Darnold starting, Sam SAMs Habs, Sam has starting Sam
SAMs habsadsm And for all of those who are in
the camp of brock Purdy is great and then the
last couple of days of the brock Purdy is terrible. Look,
we've told you who brock Purty is. He's an elite
game Manager's what he is. And he's on a really,
(35:01):
really good team. Hence brock Purdy is having the career
he has had so far. But we're gonna get a
real good grasp on just how good he is. And
it's gonna be more of an assumed thing and an
accepted thing, because we're gonna watch Sam Donald play with
the same supporting cast that brock Purdy has had, and
Sam Donald will be okay. Look, Sam Donald's thing is
(35:22):
he can't see downfield. He doesn't see the open guys.
He doesn't get to his third progression. He tries to
force the ball in with his first read or his
second read he misses guys that are open, meaning he
doesn't see them. That's been what's happened to him throughout
his career. But he'll play okay because the majority of
the time he'll be dumping the ball off to Christian
McCaffrey or finding George Kittle, not having to worry about
(35:42):
throwing downfield as much, and the Niner defense will play well,
and the Niners will probably gut out a win over
the Bengals because they're that good defensively. That a bad
game on Monday night, they were exposed a little bit,
they can clean it up. So if you watch Sam
Donald play okay, maybe not quite as good it is
Brock Party, that's gonna give you more of a baseline
(36:03):
for Perty and say, okay, yeah, I do see him
as the elite game manager. Because Sam Donald was kind
of a decent game manager in winning this game over
the Bengals this week. So yeah, okay, Now I really
can kind of tell exactly who Brock Purty is because
the Niners will play a very similar game to what
you've seen them play with Purty, except they won't score
as much just because Donald hasn't had the reps. He's
(36:25):
gonna come in and he's not quite the same quarterback
that Perty is, but it's not like Purty is that
much better. So you're gonna get that baseline now in
the Elite Game Manager. That's gonna be where brock Party
winds up with. And it's kind of ironic that we're
gonna find that out in a game he doesn't play.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
Yeah, it's the curiosity right of trying to properly place him,
and certainly from a data collection perspective, when you rack
up wins, what happens you get immediately, rightly or not
compared to the greats. And he's made some big plays.
He's shown himself to be clearly better than a last
(37:02):
pick of the draft, that's for sure. But when you
get down to it, you know people trying to elevate
him to the elite. That goes back to our topic
from yesterday about hot take nonsense. And I'm going to
go to the wall on something with very limited data
and just a series of assumptions because I want to
be first. I don't have to be right. But if
(37:23):
you know this guy goes on to a great career,
you know, I said on September first of twenty twenty
three that he was going to be one of the
all time greats, and if he wasn't, nobody cared, right,
So that's where we're at. So your guys, Sam Darnald
with the next opportunity here. It looks like no Deebo,
Samuel and Theory Trent Williams is back, McCaffrey won't fumble
(37:45):
again to create problems as he did this past week
against Minnesota, and maybe they'll have a new kicker by Sunday.
So all of that to say, I'm curious to see
what Sam Donald is and whether the redemption road begins
here with an opportunity.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
Twitter at how about a Fresco Mike get Swollen Dome

(38:22):
an NBA debut that everybody couldn't wait to see in
the debut was not bad. You get the play of
the night. He didn't seem like nervous.
Speaker 5 (38:30):
So it's a game we're getting back into it.
Speaker 1 (38:37):
Okay, well that was That was Luka danciing in the
post game after the Mavericks beat the Spurs tonight in
Victor Webbin Yama's yeah, I got that one to.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
You wait, triple double to open a season in history.
Speaker 1 (38:52):
So hand of a cell works right around the screen
by Wembenyama. Back to Wemby on the pick and pop.
Speaker 5 (38:56):
We'll try and straight away three.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
I'm not so there. It is Spurs Radio Network. Wem
beIN Yama not a bad night. You know, the over
under for him his points tonight was eighteen. He was
just under that. And look, he needs to figure out
exactly what he can do and get away with not
(39:18):
getting five fouls and not getting in foul trouble quickly.
But you can see his skill set. It's not gonna
be long for him to assimilate into the NBA. And
I think the Spurs can be a playing team in
the playoffs this year with wem Ben Yama. He's gonna
make those strides for Greg Popovich and that's where they're
gonna be a few games under five hundred. But in
that seven to ten range.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
Yeah, just all matter a minute's management and how much
Johnson and the other starters there in San Antonio, jel
and let's face it, the war of attrition. They're younger,
exit out about a Fresca X at Swollen Dome.
Speaker 1 (39:54):
Jason Smith, Mike Harmon livethtirack dot com studio is coming
up next, my buddy Ben Mallo. Keep it right here, Mike.
You are listening to Fox Sports Radio.
