Speaker 1 (00:46):
Should be Well, the debut of Victor Wembinyama, Well, let's
just say kind of a mixed bag.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
The over under for total points rohim tonight was eighteen.
Who's gonna be under? The overunder for rebounds was seven
seven and a half. It's gonna be under.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Assists was three and a half. Gonna be under blocks
was two and a half. Gonna be under why? Well,
nineteen minutes for Victor Wembinyama. Thirteen points, five rebounds to
assists and five fouls. That is the night for Victor
wembin Yama. And now the Spurs trail the Mavericks one fifteen,
one thirteen.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Thing.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Look not that, not that it was look for a
debut like this for wembin Yama. But he's on the floor.
He's playing a decent amount of minutes in the first half,
and the Spurs look great. Right second half, Wemby's in
foul trouble. He's not on the floor, and suddenly here
come the Mavericks and now it looks like they've overtaken
the Spurs and are in the driver's seat in this game.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Look, it's gonna happen, right, You're gonna see his.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
Wemb beIN Yama's impact of a game sometimes is not
about what he does numbers wise, but how he affects
the floor and the spacing and everything goes along with it.
And the Spurs were playing great when he was in
the game. They were playing great. He was plus five
for the night. Only a couple of guys on the
Spurs or plus or plus anything tonight in this game.
But he comes out and he doesn't play and he's
(02:05):
in foul trouble. He's got to figure out where he
can stick his arms and where he can't. Ye uh,
this is gonna be the result. So that that's gonna
be the one adjustment he's gonna have to The NBA
is gonna be about, Hey, all right, I'm a big
and I explore the floor. How do I stay on
the floor and out of foul trouble. That's the one
thing he's got to navigate. But I'm not too concerned
about it. The guy's got the game to be able
(02:26):
to do it. And and look he was. He was
six out of eight from the floor tonight. You know,
so far in the game. So he's a player that
looking at him, it's not gonna be long until he's
a dominant force. And but I say long, I mean
a couple of weeks a month he's put the foul
thing that's gonna be a big one. Being able to
stay out of foul trouble, out of early foul trouble,
(02:47):
getting a couple of quick ones. That's gonna be his
big adjustment.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
Yeah, the curiosity, right body control, and look, you're gonna
test him right as a rookie hasn't earned superstar calls.
You want to see if he gets them. So let's
let's attack. Let's force him, uh to give up some
of that space. See if you can get him to
reach because it's going to be pretty exaggerated and pretty
obvious right just based on length, if you can get
(03:12):
up into him. So uh yeah, for for when Byama again,
he loves to fly at you as you ball fake.
He just did it again on.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Oh he just hit a three.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
He just hit another three, apartment, he might get to
eight two seconds there, he might get there. He just
hit a three. The game is tied with three minutes
to go. Look at that all I'd say, Webby's not
going to reach those numbers.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
And look where we're at right now. Look where buddy
five fouls fourth quarter.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
He's up to twenty twenty minutes now and getting his
stuff in. Uh. But the point, you know, as I was,
you know, you're excited utterance because you are just fired
up as they go to a TV time out on
the floor. But he did it on one of those
things where he was going for the big swat. It's
like you give up so much space, so much space. Finally,
(04:04):
so that that's one thing I'm sure Papovich is gonna
be like, what did we do wrong on this defensive sequence?
How did our defense break down? Here? Look, if he
blocks it back into the third row, great, If he
blocks it and tips it to himself, even better. The
old ac earl move from back when he was in Iowa.
Wow Wow, Okay, Well, because he did block shots differently.
(04:25):
It wasn't a highlight reel. Hey, he rejected him into
the seventh row. It was no, I'm gonna tip the
ball to myself and now we have a possession instead
of it out of bounce play. So uh, you know,
gotta be smart about it. But you know, for for women, Yama,
you go for those, Yeah, and you're gonna have some
that are great and get the crowd fired up. But
if you're gonna keep missing like that and give yourself
(04:45):
up defensively to where you're out a position, that's like
the kid that falls down in soccer thinking he's getting
the call and all of a sudden it's it's a
breakaway the other way with an odd man rush. Right.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
You told me if I go down, I'm gonna get call. Yeah, Well,
in theory.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
Get it right, get up, set up, You gambled and
you lost. You lose, and your teammates get nothing except
a lot of space that they have to cover up.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
Look, but I mean what I said last hour.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
The Spurs, they have some guys that can play, and
the impact of Wembin Yama on the floor is gonna
be more than just what can he do with the ball.
Like I said, you have to account for him. He's
someone that can hit threes, he can get down low, yes,
bang with the big body. He doesn't weigh as much
as some of the other guys do. But this should
be a team that is a playoff team of some kind.
(05:39):
They shouldn't be out of the playoffs. They shouldn't be
finishing outside the top ten with Popovich and Wemby and look,
they got a couple of nice, you know pieces on
this team. I like where they're at, man, I like
where they're at. And they should be a five hundred
ish team this year and maybe a couple of games under.
And I'm looking forward to see Wemby in the pl
(06:00):
That's kind of where I'm at. If I'm the Spurs,
you can say, what's the most realistic outcome? You can
see this year that where it's not too outside, it's
not outside the realm of possibility. I would say being
in the playing round. If we can get to the
playing round, then then that's that's successful. In Wenby's first
year playing round, that's success for us. And they can
easily get there.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
Yeah, go from twenty two wins to being around five
hundred and playing meaningful basketball in the second week of April.
That's it. That's all. That's all you can hope for
in this process. As as you learn and the curiosity
is minutes restrictions. We've talked a lot about what to
expect as the season goes on. We talked just talked
(06:40):
about the foul foul issue and learning on the defensive end. Yeah,
there's a lot to it. But you know, they're gonna
be fun to watch, that's for damn sure. A lot
of young talent getting after it and you know, a
good match up here on opening night watching Luca and
company battle the neck and neck. These are two teams
(07:01):
that I would suspect come mid April are battling and
jockeying to get into that play in tournament.

Now to the marquee Game of the night and I'm
ready for a trade. I am ready for a try
to you know.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
Celtics. You know, no, don't.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
Look the main event, next, next main event. Uh, Celtics
beat the nixt to Night one O wight one oh four.
Right the Celtics. Of course they get thirty points from
Chris tops Porzingis.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Of course they do. Of course back in Madison Square
Garden and.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
He's hitting three, he's five out of nine from three
point range, and he's got thirty to go along with
thirty four from Tatum.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
Of course Porzingis does that. He has the more.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
Block shots alterations. I mean, man, look, let me, let
me go through the stats. I mean to go through
that's for days with Keenan Allen.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
Hold on because I don't know I was hang on.
I was saying I was serious. We talked about it
in the off season. Porzingis coming in and being the
number three or four guy on a team that's great. Right,
when he's the number two guy on a team, that's
not good. But when he's a number four guy, and
you can argue he's the number four guy with with
Tatum and Brown and Holiday, you can argue he's the
(08:27):
four guy. Okay, right, you don't rely and he doesn't
have to score thirty points a game. But he can
still do this because he's still talented enough. So of
course he plays that well tonight.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
But despite that thirty points most in the Celtics debut.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
Yeah, that's.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
With five threes and four blocks.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
We've given him.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
Knicks held the Knicks to twenty percent shooting. We've given
him enough fifteen, We've given him enough.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Flower. That's fine. That's it for. We're done with Porzingis.
We're done. We're done.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
We're done with port because we gotta get we gotta
get to Julius Randall right now, legally, our bosses just
said you gotta get to Julius Revs.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
Let's get to do. Porzingis was good, right, the Celtics
were good. The Knicks fight back, they take the lead,
they have a six point lead with four minutes left.
Things are looking great, and then suddenly they can't make a.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Shot, and the Celtics reel off nine in a row
and they lead the rest of the way and.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
They win by four. All right, now it's Opening night,
and all right, the Knicks have some new pieces that
are coming in, and I don't think they're gonna shoot
thirty seven percent from the floor a lot.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
I don't think he's seven.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
Shut up.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
I don't think Dante DiVincenzo. They are big money acquisitions,
not gonna score in many games, which is what happened tonight,
where maybe if he had just scored four points.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
And Knicks could have won.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
So I'm okay with everything except except the night that
was for Julius Randall, because I feel like we've just
picked up where we left off, and this is Julius
Randall taking too many shots when he's not good enough
a shooter.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
Right.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
Randal tonight scored fourteen points. He was five out of
twenty two from the floor, right, one out of five
from the three point from the free throw line, five
out of twenty two. He's a progress stopper. That's who
Julius Randall is. He had a great year three and
a half years ago, and the Knicks gave him a
lot of money, and he simply doesn't make enough shots
to warrant getting the ball and being as big a
(10:17):
part of the offense as he does. He doesn't look
at the playoffs. Last year he was awful. How many
three of fourteen games and five out of fifteen games.
There's too many games like that because Randall's not somebody
who was consistent. He'll have a great night shooting and
then you'll say, wow.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
Look at him.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
Tonight he was eleven out of fourteen, and then the
next two nights he's two out of eleven, and he's
four out of seventeen. That's who Julius Randall is. He
takes too many shots. You can't take two, you can't
take twenty two shots when this is gonna be what
it is. He can't get his own shot when you
double team him. He can't pass out of double teams
well enough.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
He just can't do it.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
And they rely on him too much because of the
status he has on the team as basically being the
number two to Jalen bruns Because last year you could say, oh, okay,
Brunson came in as a number two. He became the
best player on the Knicks. He's one of the best
players in the league. Should have been an All Star,
will be an All Star this year. He's a great,
great player. He's the new number one in the Knicks.
But it still doesn't work with him and Julius Randall
because Randall doesn't he's not efficient enough. And that's to me,
(11:14):
what I mean he's a progress stopper. Is that some
of these shots would go better if they were to RJ.
Barrett or Quentin Grimes or Manuel Quickly or Devincenzo or heart,
you know, because you don't need to be I feel
like the Knicks need what we have to give him
the ball down low every other time down the floor,
because we got to see what he does. And he'll
dribble into trouble and he'll turn the ball over, or
he'll make a bad pass, or he'll more likely he
(11:36):
forces up a bad shot. And I feel like the
Knicks have just picked up with that where they left off.
And and this is why I'll make this trade offer
for the Knicks.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
Joel Embiid.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
You can have any three players you want off the
Knicks roster, except it can't be Jalen Brunson and Julius
Randol's gotta be one of them. That's the to any
three guys you want, but it's can't be. It can't
be Brunson and Randall's got to be one of the three.
Let's make that deal happen. I know Joel Embiid wants out.
He's not happy. He's not happening. It's not working. James
hard in his back, he's not he's gonna play.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
He's not. He's playing. He's with the team. He's off
the team. He's on the team, he's not playing. Yeah, Embiid,
Any three guys you want can't be Brunson. Randall's gotta
be one of them. So there you go.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
There's the trade. And I will send that trade into
Darryl Mory's inbox forever, whether he's a liar or not,
and I'll say nice things about him and say, I
don't think you're a liar, dude, I think you're a
great guy. How about you do this trade with the
Knicks because the Knicks have to find a way to
move on from being reliant on Julius Randall, because as
we've seen now for the last couple of years, the
Knicks have had pretty good teams. And you get to
(12:37):
the playoffs, and what happens. You rely on Randall and
he can't make any shots because teams clamp down on him.
This is just who he is. And I feel like
the Knicks have picked up where they left off with that.
Hence why I'm ready for a trade after Night one.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
Dude, who was a mid to low fifties percent shooter
in LA in New Orleans, and now you're hoping to
scrape to forty five forty six percent two years ago
the low at forty one. The way you describe the trade,
it's kind of like you walked in and they give
you the styrofoam container at Panda Express. All we got
(13:09):
is chicken Karaoki? What do you want for your sides?
Speaker 3 (13:12):
But wait, I don't watch it. No, you gotta checking.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
That's all you got here? You now pick your sides,
damn it all that's kind of what you just did there.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
Well that's well, look, you gotta make the money match,
and Randall makes the money match, so okay, so you
have that, and then any two guys you want just
can't have.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
Jalen Brunson.
Speaker 4 (13:28):
It's it's it's one of those things where dollars are
not equal, right, it's like even it's in NBA dollars. Yeah,
it makes sense in actual player on court, it's like,
look at how close their salaries are. That's because you
spent like mad men.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Dude, it's not my fault.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
It's a fantasy trade where you say, hey, I want
this guy. Take a look at my roster. Tell me
what you like. The only guy I'm not trading is
Jalen Brunson, and you gotta take God. But anybody take
a look at it. Rent, tell me what you like,
and you can have almost anybody off my roster you want.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
That's how it works.
Speaker 4 (14:03):
Oh boy, that's where we're at fantasyland once again. You know,
we got a fan, you know, our buddy coming up
in Rick Buker. But you know they're celebrating Porzingis in Boston,
and you know what are people on the Sports Hub
celebrating a lot of stuff tonight.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
We'll get to that coming up in a bit because
we got Marconi Awards.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
Talk. Yeah, buddy, straight ahead.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
Rick Buker, NBA insider Fox Sports One Extraordinary stops by
his take on the first two opening nights of the NBA.
I'm sure he's gonna have a big Firy mixtake. That's
just gonna piss me off.
Speaker 4 (14:38):
I just like it's the first two opening nights.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
Well, basically opening night for the NBA is like a
month long because you get great matchups all the time.
And here's opening night. There's another opening night, another opening night.
Every bit of drama we've seen tonight. What about Webby's debut?
Keep it right here. It's a must listen with Rick

Opening Night Night two in the NBA, the Celtics win
(15:31):
the marquee matchup over the Knicks. Wemby's debut fifteen points,
twenty three minutes, five fouls.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
Tons of stuff to get to.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
Nobody better than Fox Sports one insider extraordinary. You can
follow him on Twitter at Rick Buker. That is at
Rick Buker, host of the On the Ball podcast, Rick,
What's happening?
Speaker 3 (15:51):
Buddy? Happy Opening night? Again?
Speaker 5 (15:54):
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you very much.
We're on tender. I didn't know. Gotta, I gotta. Can
we just go to the finals? Can we just have
the Nuggets play the Celtics and the finals? So I
think pretty much at this point in the season, I
know we're on only two days in. I think we
pretty much know how this is going to end up.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
Right, You got your vacation play ready or what you got?
You got a cruise that you're getting getting.
Speaker 5 (16:22):
To climate say that again, the.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
Cruise that you're getting to. So do you already want
to advance to the finals. Let's just skip to six months.
Speaker 5 (16:31):
I don't know what it is, but I'm getting major
static when you speak. Usually it's my microphone that sucks.
How is it that you guys are in the studio
and it sounds like I don't know, Look, you're speaking
through a can in a string.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
Well I'm using I'm using the Julius Randall of microphones.
That's that's what it is. Oh, there we go.
Speaker 5 (16:56):
How about that, By the way, how about that with
the Knicks. Let's start the season off with a rumor
that we're willing to trade this entire team for Joel MB.
That's got to make me feel good as a Nick
coming into the season. We haven't even played the game yet.
They're ready to hide and they're ready to send everybody
out in order to get Joel MB. And you guys
(17:16):
think that that that rumor came came out of the
Knicks organization.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
Of course it did, because I would I would say
I would tell the Sixers, any three guys you want
from the team except for Jalen Brunson, and one of
them has to be Julius Randall.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
That's the trade.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
Any three guys you want, one of them's got to
be Randall, and it can't be Jalen Brunson. But outside
of anybody, a MANU will quickly great, Mitchell Robinson great,
r J Beck great, anybody you want, but Julius rand
And especially after tonight Rick, where I watch progress stopper
Julius Randall again, I think I feel like the Knicks
have just picked up where they left off in the playoffs,
because you know the thing about Randall, and look, the
(17:53):
Knicks losing tonight is a big night for Porzingis, of course,
but he takes too many shots for a guy that
doesn't make enough shots. Right, It's like the Knicks feel
compelled to get him the basketball and he just isn't it.
He can't get his own shot if you double him,
he can't figure out a way around it. He is
a progress stopper and when it comes down to it,
he can't get off his shot. And you look in
(18:15):
the playoffs, that's why the Knicks went home because every
game three out of fourteen, five out of seventeen. But
they still give him the ball, and they's like almost
like he demands it because I'm one of the top
two players on the team and the Knicks are stuck
as long as this is how they're dealing with Julius.
Speaker 5 (18:29):
Randall, I can't disagree with any of that. I would say,
if there was any defense for it, it is because
he is, or at least Tom Thibodeaux has made him
one of the two best players on this team. And
I will say this, like when he it's not very
often it's often inefficient. When he does have it going,
that is when they are good, because I don't know
(18:53):
that there's anybody that you would go to instead. You're
not crying to say, hey, listen, they there. It should
be taking those shots. It's not like there's somebody else there.
It's ultimately that's the flaw of this team. The problem
is that if Julius is not shooting the ball a lot,
then he's not really giving you anything offensively because he does.
(19:17):
It's not like he's moving off the ball. It's not
like he's a roller to the rim. It's not like
he's a great passer or creator of shots for other guys.
So it's really you're kind of you're stuck. And to
that end, I get why you would look and say, hey,
at any cost, let's go get Joe el Embiid again.
(19:41):
To me, it's a matter of can we find a
way to move off of Julius Randall. And this is
where the coach is kind of tied to the hip
with that particular player for whatever reason. And you know,
unless you're going to change coaches, I think it's going
to be a real tough battle. Convinced tips that you
(20:04):
need to move off with Julius. So you are once
again the Knicks. They're the Knicks show.
Speaker 4 (20:12):
There's the big hug you were looking for, smith Rick.
That was the undercard. We saw Wembin Yama in his debut.
What'd you make of it?
Speaker 5 (20:24):
Not surprised? You know what? I have to laugh at
the end. So Wemby comes, he's got foul trouble. He
comes out and he's magnificent. He gets the Spurs not
only back into the game, but he gives them the league.
And then and I said this before the season. I
think I said it on the Herd earlier today, and
I said it on my podcast, like no one is
(20:45):
better at finding ways to construct losses out of wins
without his players really sensing that that's what he's doing
than Greg Popovich. And that's what he did tonight. Wemby
was pois to win this game for them, But I
am convinced they're not looking to win just like thirty
(21:06):
games and you know, be be a team just outside
of the play in tournament. You know, finish eleventh or twelve,
that doesn't really get the Spurs anything. And they're not
good enough collectively even with Wemby unless he plays like
forty minutes a night for them to win, you know,
forty plus games. So I believe that they're looking at
(21:29):
let's let's get him some experience, let's play, let's develop
our guys that we're gonna keep Devin Vessel and who
and Kelton Johnson and but let's not you know, let
we'll be happy with twenty five thirty wins again. And
and you saw that orchestration at the end, because I
don't know that Wenby touched it in the last two minutes.
(21:51):
The ball was going every place else and the San
Antonio Spurs kicked the game to the curb. So look,
it's probably a bit of nerves at the beginning, and
you know, figuring out how referees are going to call
the game in the NBA, keeping mind to think about it,
think about how our NBA players deal with playing in
(22:12):
FEBA and figuring out how those games are officiated. Well,
when he's going through the same thing, except it's in reverse,
you know, figuring out how NBA referees call these games.
He's used to a more physical game and so and
I think the referees have to get used to officiating
a guy who's as big as he is being guarded
by Grant Williams, which just is going to create some
(22:36):
some some weird looks and cause some whistles. Uh. The
way he finished the game, the way he like came
back in with five fouls and basically took over, was
everything you would hope to see. I mean, I just
I'm gonna regardless of what the Spurs do, You're going
to see him do something every night where you go.
(22:59):
I don't know that I've seen that before. And that's
the beauty of the NBA. If there's one great thing
about it is that you know, one guy after another,
we see them doing something that you simply don't see
any place else in the world in the game. And
now when Manyama is the latest the latest version of that.
(23:23):
I mean the combination of he shoots the three, he's
already like you cannot leave it, well, you have to
leave him open at the three because there's no way
of defending it. He doesn't even see the defender he's
so tall. And then his ability to hit the mid
range to finish at the rim, his passing, I mean,
he really is. It's just a matter of time before
(23:46):
he's the best player in the league, Jannis the Greek freak.
We've already found your your successor in the French Greek,
in the French freak.
Speaker 3 (23:56):
Because French freak. I like that. I like that. That's good.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
There you go, and that might work. French freak might work.
Because Wemby is not a great nickname. Let's be quite like,
it's terrible.
Speaker 5 (24:08):
It makes me think of Gumby, right, Wemby, yea bumby Wimbledon,
thinking about tennis and white shorts like no, I don't
want any I don't want want any of those visuals
when it comes to uhh, when it comes to potentially
the best player in the NBA.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
I'm digging that though. You should patent that French freak
and get t shirts with that on it. I bet
you that would that work.
Speaker 1 (24:28):
You'll all of a sudden you'll be You'll have enough
money to buy the Nicks from Dolan and you can
make me the GM and then I'm going to work
together all.
Speaker 5 (24:34):
The time, you know what. After the sphere, I gotta
I gotta give it a Dolan man. I mean, he's
he's a lunatic, but the sphear in Vegas he gets
every once in a while, he comes up with it,
and then and now that he's I think he's paying
himself to advertise it on the New York on the
on the Knicks jerseys, the sphere in Vegas, and you know,
(24:56):
you hate to see it, but money back Dolan is
finding unning away.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
Rick Buker at Fox Sports One, NBA Insider with us here,
Jason Smith, Mike Harmon live from the ti rack dot
com studios.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
All right, now, to go back.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
To last night. We had two great games last night.
Certainly the Lakers lost to the Nuggets. You can say, Okay, well,
I understand they're gonna need to figure some things out,
and they have some you know, players they're trying to
weave into their rosters, and the Nuggets are a finished product.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
That I get that.
Speaker 1 (25:25):
Uh, But the biggest thing to come away from that
game is that here's a game that was there for
the Lakers and they still limited Lebron's minutes. This tells me, shocker,
the Lakers have a plan, because they never have a plan,
it's just whatever happens to react to it. Their plan
to limit Lebron, limit his minutes because the most important
thing is just to have him and ad peaking for
(25:47):
the playoffs. Like you know, the regular season doesn't matter
if they're in the playing run off that there they
need to be peaking for the playoffs where they can
have a good month and a half run and not
run out of gas in the Western Conference. I actually
feel good about the Lakers following that loss last night.
Speaker 5 (26:02):
Well, that makes you a party of one in this conversation. Wow,
I thought that the Denver Nuggets demonstrated that they had
the better starting lineup, they have the better bench, and
I thought that they toyed with them. I mean, Nikola
Jokic had Ad who and we sometimes forget eight is
one of the best defenders in the league, one of
(26:24):
the best big men defenders. He had him in a blender.
It was just it was a masterclass. And I agree
with you in what I believe them now. I think
there's it's it's twofold number one because you have Jackson
Hayes and Christian Wood. And this is one of the
issues that I have with the way the roster is constructed.
Why I'm not as gung ho about what they put
(26:46):
together is you osensibly you want to play Ruy Hatchramura
at at at power forward, right Jackson Hayes is a big,
Christian Wood is a big. Like none of those guys
can play small forward in today's game. The wings are
just too fast, too athletic for any of those guys,
(27:07):
and so you have to play them at the power positions. Well,
Lebron at this stage of his career, has to play
at one of the power positions. Ad has to play
at one of the power positions. So now you have
five dies that you think could contribute that are all
playing in you know, playing in two positions for the
(27:29):
four and the five, and so I think in one way,
you have to limit Lebron's minutes just to utilize some
of the other pieces that you have. I think one
of the other things, though, is what's demonstrated is you
don't have anybody else who's a closer on that team,
(27:50):
and so Lebron remains the best option you have to closing.
And what I saw from him in this game was
everything either layups in transition or he was shooting the three.
And the Nuggets were more than happy to let him
(28:10):
do whatever he wanted to one on one because they're like,
he can't hurt us, he can't hurt us. At the stage,
and that's that's where I look at the Lakers and
we can look at the supporting cast, and I'm sure
you know it happens every year. Everybody like, well, this
guy's not doing this, d LO is not good enough,
et cetera, et cetera. I really think it comes down
(28:33):
to that Lebron James and Anthony Davis are just They're
still good, They're just not good enough. When we talk
about being one of the best teams in the league.
They they and to your point, I think it's their
only hope is you have them healthy and maybe they
can do something at the end of the year. But
(28:54):
when I look around the league at the two best
players on all of the top teams that can tending teams, like,
if you're putting Lebron an ad in that category, you're
doing it based on their names and their history rather
than what they've shown us to be at this point
in their careers.

Yeah, Jason, Mike, there's only one NBA. Yeah that too,
both of them actually, Jason and Mike. Proud to announce
both our fathers. But well, thank you, yes, not me though,
not that I know. Of the Clippers and Trailblazers. The
only game that is still going on, and they are
about five minutes left in the fourth quarter of the
Clippers are just ripping apart the Trailblazers one fifteen to
(31:18):
ninety one, Paul George going big, going hard with his
twenty seven points, six assists and three steals. Everything else
has gone final, including the Pacers shunning the Wizards one
forty three to one twenty and there were twenty five
points scored by Kyle Kuzba, but it was not enough,
not even close. Thirty nine points scored by Indiana in
(31:39):
the second quarter. Hornets flick away the Hawks one sixteen
to one ten behind twenty five points from PJ. Washington
Jason Smith's nicks. They face plant in the end at
home one away to one oh four. They take the
l by way of the Celtics thirty points from christophs
Porzingis and his Boston Celtics debut. Elsewhere, the match drum
(32:00):
up a win one sixteen eighty six against the Rockets
call Anthony twenty points and eight rebounds, while the Cavaliers
puncture the nets one fourteen to one thirteen. Donovan Mitchell
did a big three at the end there, twenty seven
points he finished with along with four steals. Heats sneak
past the Pistons one oh three to one oh two.
(32:22):
The Timberwolves losers on the road ninety seven to ninety
four against the Raptors, just bite twenty six and fourteen
rebounds from Anthony Edwards. The thunder Punk the Bulls one
twenty four to one oh four, The Pelicans step on
the Grizzlies one eleven to one oh four, and then
Maleik Monk did something quite exhilarating for the Kings.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
Here's a fox steal.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
Gotta breakaway coming up for Sacramento. Chase by Dunn drops
it the month Hammer time frown.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
Down by Malak Monk Fox with the steal his former
wildcat collegiate teammate at the University of Kentucky, Malake.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
Monk with a big time hammer.
Speaker 6 (33:00):
There you go the King's Radio Network. Yeah, it was
a big dunk and it will be making the rounds
all over social media as far as people watching it
time and time again. One thirty to one fourteen the
King's over the Jazz Malik Monk with that expressive play
there as mentioned. And lastly, Victor weben Yama with just
fifteen points and five fouls and the Spurs have his
(33:23):
debut as is obviously one of the most transcendent names
in the game. Coming up it spoiled with his one
twenty six to one nineteen Mavericks win against his Spurs
where Lukadan chit Shan thirty three points and as I
send it back to you Jason and Mike, did you
guys go the over or the under? For Victor Remagnon,
(33:45):
what was it seventeen and a half points, seventy ten.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
I was gonna say everything over except the points, Okay,
I would have lost. I would have lost them.
Speaker 4 (33:53):
All well, so I mean it was a purpose an
act perpetrated against gamblers by Greg Popovich.
Speaker 3 (34:00):
According to What Oh Wait, A minute visa the suggression
will not stand come out of the game.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
But you had kid bench me for two whole weeks

gonna get Davonte Adams, maybe you're not gonna get Mike Evans,
but oh, could you get somebody?
Speaker 3 (34:57):
Now?
Speaker 1 (34:58):
I would call this guy's team even say what'll it take?
That story's next right here, Jason, and it's not Cleveland,
Jason and Mike Fox.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith

Speaker 3 (35:14):
Is this your version of a Halloween song? She's in
the Superstit s exactly.
Speaker 4 (35:21):
He's a d waker Smith.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
I will tell you this. Do I have a great
Halloween movie trivia.
Speaker 3 (35:29):
Question for you coming up in a few minutes. It's
You're right, it's John Stamos.
Speaker 4 (35:35):
Well, he does have that new autobiography out there, just
getting some run.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
What what star of Who's the Boss? Did Tony? Yeah? No, no, no,
I know, got great.
Speaker 4 (35:46):
I mean, I know, we just celebrated Christopher Lloyd's eighty
fifth birthday and all. But come on now, it was
looking up.
Speaker 3 (35:52):
Who is Terry Kopeley? Wait a minute, so the Jason
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
I got a great movie a trivia question coming up
for you. If minutes, I'll tell you all about it.
But with the trade deadline coming up on Halloween, we're
just a few days away from that. Now, wide receivers
are who everybody wants, right and a few weeks ago
you have thought, okay, DeVante Adams will be available now
it looks like the Raiders are gonna say Mike Evans
(36:18):
you thought was gonna be available because he wants a
new contract with the Bucks, but the Bucks.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
Aren't half bad. He's not available. The guy to go
get is Michael Pittman from the Colts. Today.
Speaker 1 (36:31):
He talked a lot about defending his actions when he
said after the game on Sunday, he was upset he's
not a big enough part of the game plan.
Speaker 3 (36:37):
He wants the ball more. Look, he's an incredibly talented receiver.
Speaker 1 (36:41):
And this is why I go get Michael Pittman because
he's played with seven different quarterbacks in Indianapolis, and he's
been great with all of them, and most of them
have stunk. Okay, he's played with a lot of they've
all been It's like Tim Brown with the Raiders. Everybody
was bad and smashed in Ballard's door at this point.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
Going what the hell? Man the hell?
Speaker 1 (37:01):
Every quarterback has been bad and Michael Pittman produces, but
he's not a big enough part of the offense. Now
you have the quarterback change to Gardner Minshew. He went off.
He talked about it after Sunny, even though he did
catch a big, long touchdown he did say, hey, I
need to be part of the game more so, you
know he's unhappy.
Speaker 4 (37:15):
Five targets in that one eleven the week before I
think it was, and then a minimal effort. I want
to say it was six or seven targets officially the
week before that.
Speaker 1 (37:26):
This is a situation where you can go get him
and Joe Douglas. I'm talking to you because he's in
a contract year and you don't know what kind of
situation the quarterback is gonna be like with next year
with Anthony Richardson.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
Is he gonna use Michael Pittman's you? Is he gonna
throw to him a lot? Is he not? You don't know.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
And you already have a couple other receivers who are
pretty good. Josh Downs is really good. Alec Pierce is
a good receiver that doesn't get the ball enough. They
got some guys, They got a couple of guys there.
Are you really gonna go pay Michael Pittman all of
that money, especially if maybe someone that you're not using
as much. No, call the Colts and go get Michael
Pittman Junior. He's the guy. He's not gonna cost what
(38:05):
DeVante Adams would cost for Mike Evans because he's still
kind of under the radar. He needs a new contract,
but he is a terrific receiver, and I go get him.
He's the I call the Colts tomorrow. Do you ever
know what earth he's gonna say? Hey, do you want
Jonathan Taylor to Yeah? Sure, okay, great, take Jonathan Taylor.
I call from Michael Pittman for the deadline, just because
the Colts can stay afloat without him. It's a year
(38:26):
they're playing with your backup quarterback. You have a couple
of good running backs for now. Yeah, I make that move,
especially if he's not happy he'd like to make it
with a different team.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
I go and call for Michael Pittman tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (38:38):
See what you can do down in Tennessee as well.
Since they got rid of Buyered, I think anybody can
be had there. Uh can we get it?
Speaker 3 (38:46):
Dan Byer? I dig oh, okay, okay, sorry?
Speaker 4 (38:53):
Yeah, So Byron heads out, so showing ay if the
price is right. So Derrick Henry, maybe DeAndre Hopkins. He's
got a weird contract, but he's got outs and maybe
he's a little salty as the Mike Variabel's now fighting
with reporters over quarterbacks and what's going on there in Tennessee.
But certainly when when you look at Pittman Junior, spectacular,
(39:17):
big play threat.
Speaker 3 (39:19):
Can we get one of our old.
Speaker 4 (39:20):
Buddies, Jeffrey Gorman I think went back to work with
Ursa in Indianapolis. Can we get him to just randomly
call the Dallas offices so that Jerry gets in touch
with Ballard thinking that the Colts initiated something.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
Look if we can pretend that I got a phone
call from Indianapolis, I'll call him, and then it looks
like we didn't reach out and initiate, looks like they
called us first.
Speaker 3 (39:43):
Let's just let's just pretend.
Speaker 1 (39:44):
They called hey, we'll call it equal and then we
go get Michael Pittman Junior.
Speaker 3 (39:48):
We can't make that first phone call. We got to
get the second phone call.
Speaker 4 (39:51):
Can you spoof a number with a burner phone Smith
and initiate that.
Speaker 1 (39:55):
Pretend to pretend that Indianapolis called me, Bernice, just tell
me leave me the number.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
I'll call him right back.
Speaker 1 (40:00):
Coming up next to us, that big heartor trivia question
and new news in the Michigan scandal.
Speaker 3 (40:05):
Fox
