(00:53):
We will not need to mention the Syracuse Virginia Tech
Games tonight at all. Steve Desager can strike it from
his updates.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Don't need it. I don't think it would be in
the update. You only got a minute.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
We don't need it.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
So in that minute is this worth covering.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
No, you gotta give the score. Do No, you gotta
give the score.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
There's other games to talk about.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
You can go and do stat lines for any viable
fantasy player in the Thursday night football game.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Over that it's a D one game that's on national television.
You kind of have to give the score. But really
you don't have to. You really, you really don't.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Have to know it exists. I don't have to until
this very moment.
Speaker 5 (01:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
Well, and you know you're the lucky one because I'm
the one that watched and listened to it and said,
why am I doing listening to this? Why? Why? Why
am I torturing myself? Syracuse is we're never going to
be good at football again. Well, it is your The
time is gone, the time has passed by. We're never
gonna be good at football again.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
Gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
It is your team, and you've now subjected a national
audience to three minutes of your angst and derision.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
About ninety seconds.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
It felt like three minutes because we were talking about
Syracuse football.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Time with you doesn't go very short either. Just bye,
by the way, let you know, four hours sometime seems
like nine.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
I'm just gonna reserve comment, and everybody in America is
just nodding along with me by silent response to that
T shirt might be nodding in the booth.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
Opposite, Tyshan is recording his anime podcast. He's not spending
any time, spending any tention to the show. And that's
why we watched Joe. It was a top five character
of all time. Well, I actually you know, Tysher, I
actually do. I am going to have a big time
anime question for you at some point in the show
that actually gets involved in a big time sport and
(02:38):
a player who was involved in anime who is trying
to make a comeback. But there's a twist of the
story I'm hearing. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's a possible podcast
for your mine a host.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Yeah, especially when you can use the terms fraud.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Yeah oh yeah yeah yes, in that lawsuits is getting banned. Yes, yes, yeah,
there's a big story ty shit that we we're gonna need.
I ken't this is you know, nine and a half
years in. There's a sports related story. I want your
take on. I can't believe I'm saying this. How about that?
Speaker 4 (03:09):
It's almost like he wandered into fab five Freddy's or
whatever that's called.
Speaker 5 (03:13):
Movie.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
You mean five Nights and Freddy? Oh yeah, five Freddy
is Fab five. Freddy was in the Blondie video he's
eating bars and eating bars. Now he only eats guitars.
Get up my man from MTV. I'm not I know
exactly what I'm saying there. I thought it was funny.
Uh what do you okay?
Speaker 5 (03:35):
What?
Speaker 6 (03:35):
What?
Speaker 1 (03:36):
What do you think? The odds are ty shod plays
Blondies rapture in a few minutes and the rap part
not not.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
Just I think you were going part where too far.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Apart where they mentioned Fab five Freddy get stretch or
we get Jensen Ackles doing the song from the Boys
that that was a big viral hit last year. One
of those two things. No, I don't think so trying Yeah,
Syracuse closing the gap now Virginia Tech thirty two to
three in the third quarter, meanwhiy.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
You avoided the shutout?
Speaker 5 (04:05):
Man?
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Well no, wait, they're in the end zone. Now, wait
there at the end zone, thirty two to ten. Just
another touchdown, get the ball back, touchdown, Get the ball
back touchdown, get the ball back touchdown, Get the ball
back and we're in the lead.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
You're watching that, I'm watching Baker Mayfield run for his life.
And on my other screen, I've got Damian Lillard in
a buckshootifm and it doesn't look great.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
No, we'll have more on Damian Lillard and James Harden
and all the drama going on with getting on a
bus and getting on a plane and not being allowed
on a plane. But we'll start tonight with Thursday Night Football.
Don't forget. We're in the final stretch to get tickets
to horse racing's biggest moment of the year. The world's
bester are headed to Santa Nita for the Breeders Cup
World Championships on November third and fourth. The countdown begins now.
(04:48):
Get tickets today at Breeders Cup dot com. So right
now we are sitting early in the third quarter, about
nine minutes to go. The Bills are on the board again.
They lead to twenty four to ten. Josh Allen has
thrown for two touchdowns. He is also run for one.
If you're playing James Cook and fantasy, I'm sorry. If
you're starting Dalton Kincaid, congratulations the dal kink breakout maybe here,
(05:10):
But hey, you know.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
What I did.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
I was just telling the guys career high eight receptions.
Gabe Davis has been so disappointing, found his way to
my bench.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Now he's got a career high.
Speaker 7 (05:19):
Yeah, Jerke, his.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
New name is Gabe Davis on my bench. That's his
full name, Gay Davis on my bench.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
Man who I've stumped for for multiple years on many
occasions here on Fox Sports Radio. And this is the
game he decides to have his breakout.
Speaker 5 (05:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Well, and you know what, you might have even started
him if it was a Sunday game because you might tho, well, okay,
but you're really gonna say, hey, I'm gonna give one
of my spots to Gabe Davis on Thursday night. You're
not gonna do it.
Speaker 4 (05:45):
You're coming off a short week where he was invisible
and really more or less has been no.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Telling you man. The Thursday test is something that we
don't talk about enough when it comes to fantasy, is
that there's very few players that you can say, Okay,
I'm gonna start you on Thursday simply because the the
general uh mental part of fantasy is you don't want
to start somebody because you're looking at well, I'm still
(06:10):
not sure between him and somebody else. And if I
got to sit there and look at a low score
on my team for the next three days, I don't
want to do that. It's hard. I mean, only the
guys that are just the no doubt about it. To
the guys you start on Thursday, now, that's it. Everybody
else is while I'm gonna sit, I'm gonna have to
start Gave Dew like on the bills, like, Okay, I'm
gonna start Josh Allen, I'm gonna start, James Cook, I'm
gonna start, Stefan DAGs. Youre gonna start Dave Gabe Davis.
(06:32):
You're gonna start talking to start.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
I had to start Kinkaid because of uh right, maybe
you're starting position stinks. So you might have picked up
Kinkaid knowing that Dawson Knox isn't there to steal.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
But maybe but like like maybe if you had no choice,
you're starting him. And then in the bucks, it's are
you starting Mike Kevans, Yeah, you're starting Baker Mayfield. No,
you start any of the running backs. No, you start. No,
it's really hard. Starting guys on a Thursday night is
really difficult. It really is. Uh but with the Bills leading,
and and this is gonna be another game and judging
(07:03):
if this is how it goes, because the Bills have
had the better of the play and they've looked much
better in this game, everybody's gonna be backing the Bills
bandwagon after this game. They're likely gonna be five and
three and it's gonna be Oh, the Bills are still
a super Bowl threat. They're not. The Bills are too inconsistent.
We have this image of the Bills because of where
they were for the last four years. But we talked
about this before the season was begun and I said,
(07:26):
I'm a little nervous that I think the Bills window
is closed because the team hasn't really gotten better and
other teams in the AFC have all gotten better. And
just because it's Josh Allen and Stefan Diggs, it's this
image that, well, they're always going to be really good. Well,
you know, the defense is not quite what it was. Yeah,
(07:47):
this is not the same Bills team. This is a
Bills team that's not bad, that can make noise and
is dangerous. But the Bills are in a super Bowl team.
This is not a super Bowl team. I don't think
this is one of the four best teams in the
AFC right now. A bunch of teams that would beat
the Bills, because I've seen it. I've seen them lose,
the teams that you scratch yourd and go, how the
hell do you lose to this team? How do you
lose to the Jets? How do you lose to the Patriots?
(08:08):
How do you lose to these teams that don't have
any talent offensively? How do you lose these games? I
don't understand. But that's the Bills. And you know, as
Bill Parcels always likes to say, you are what you
are when you're a team that as struggles with certain teams,
you've gotten past the point of, well we had a
flat game here, or making excuses. You can't make excuses anymore. Everything.
(08:29):
We back on the Bills bandwagon after this game, and
I'm just gonna say, yeah, you know, Bill, Bills are
a good team. Can they squeak out the division and
maybe get into the playoffs? Yeah, they can maybe squeak
it out, depending on how things go the rest of
the way for the Dolphins. But are they gonna go
win as a threat or a team you think, hey,
we can win the Super Bowl. No, they're not. They're
just not that good enough. James Cook is a good
running back, he's not good enough to take the pressure
(08:50):
off what the Bills want to do offensively. And the
weapons that Josh Allen has around him, they're okay, right
Dalton and Kaid is a rookie. It's tough for rookie
tight ends to break through. Maybe he is coming up
now and that'd be a great thing for him. But
they're not consistent. And every week I can feel like
I could see the Bills play a great, unbelievable, dominating game,
and I can see them coming out and laying a
(09:11):
complete and total egg. And this is just the reality
of who the Buffalo Bills are, even though after tonight
they're gonna get all kinds of credit.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
Yeah, there's a couple of things with it.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
First Off, when you're running a shotgun on fourth and one,
I'm looking up in the booth going, what the hell
are we doing here with a guy that's as good
and athletic at the in short yarded situations as Josh
Allen has been that you're going out of the shotgun.
So there's one you mentioned James Cook. We'll see if
they get any help before the deadline on Tuesday. Lots
(09:44):
of rumors swirling about different running games and teams where
maybe their sinking chances mean, hey, let's go get our
third day picks and start to.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
Gobble those up wherever we can.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
One of the hot names out there, obviously tied to
Baltimore first, but certainly out there as a potential weapon
as Derrick Henry. And then you just have to decide
where he is approaching that cliff. Has he found it
because we've seen a couple of good games this year,
We've seen a couple of I don't know how much
(10:17):
of that is just Tennessee stinks. We have to take
that into account as well, of course, and if you.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
Don't, always have to take into account how much of
it is somebody stinks. Now wait a minute before we
say this, how much does this team stink? All right? Well,
once you answer that, then you can answer the big question.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
Well, but it's absolutely true where the Tennessee Titans are, right,
we thought, in the best case scenario, at least at
the midpoint, they'd be fighting.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
Around to be with the Jaguars and at least keeping
them on us. They're terrible.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
And now you got Mike Vrabel being mad about people
asking questions about who's quarterbacking this week, really getting chappy
about it. So you got that going. But you know, losing,
losing Tredavius White like, those are two huge losses in
your back seven, and those are not going to be
easily replaced. You know, there's a lot of defenders on
final years of their deals that may be in the offing,
(11:11):
but how quickly can you get them up to scheme
and get them ready to go? They're always going to
have a puncher's chance because of what Alan can do.
He can also throw them out of games just as easily,
so huge wildcard. I don't rule them out because who's
running away and hiding. As much as we like Baltimore,
their run game still has their issues. Right, Lamar's been fantastic,
(11:33):
and you're starting to see the receivers come in line
a bit led by Andrews and Flowers, But you know,
Cincinnati's still at five hundred.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
Are they great?
Speaker 4 (11:43):
How good is Joe Mixon? I don't know, and just
go around. Everybody's got their warts. You just don't like
the Bills because they're into your division.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
No, I like Miami more. I like Baltimore more. I
like Jacksonville more. I like Kansas City more. I like
all these teams more. I like all these teams more
because they're more consistent. Look, you hit it on the
head with Josh Allen, right, because the biggest thing, and
I can compare a lot to what's been going on
with Jalen Hurts the last few days. Right between Josh
Allen and Jalen Hurts. These are two incredibly talented quarterbacks.
(12:13):
But what's their problem now? They turn the ball over
too much and their season can end just as easily
with ay, we can win a bunch of games, get
to the super Bowl, or hey, in that wild Card game,
one touchdown and three picks and that did it.
Speaker 5 (12:26):
Right.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
That's kind of where Alan and Jalen Hurts are is
that they're they're taking a little bit too many more chances,
or the NFL has figured out their tendency is a
little bit more, but they turn the football over way
too much. Now. For Josh Allen, I think it's just
him thinking he can do more than he can. For
Jalen Hurts, it's still a little bit of him figuring
out what I can do and what I can't do.
The more responsibility I get throwing the football, but that's
(12:47):
just how it goes. I mean, when you play that way,
I know how this game, the season's gonna end for you.
Speaker 5 (12:53):
Right.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
I know Mahomes is not gonna throw three picks in
a playoff game. I know he's not gonna do that, right,
So that's why that's why the Chiefs are where they are,
and that's why they're always going to be the favorite,
right there. I know that's not gonna happen. I know
two is not going to throw three picks in a
playoff game, right, Not that he's great, but I know
he's not going to turn the ball over that way.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
I'm not banking on that. We haven't seen that. We
don't know that.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
I don't know that in a pressure situation he's that
he won't turtle.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
But he hasn't done him at college. Well, but he
hasn't had the opportunity. I watch it watching the games
he plays. He hasn't got those big games turning the
ball over.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
But he still got dominated by Philadelphia. They loved them
in the dust.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
Yeah, but it's not But it's not a game where
boy twa killed us and to a turn trying to
do too much. We lost that game because of that.
Where I can see that with Hurts and I can
see it with Josh Allen. I can see with those
the two guys I would go to. You go back
to Mahomes. The biggest thing is their defense given up
fewer than fifteen points per game. Like that's the part
of like whatever the offense is. And everybody's always been
(13:51):
concerned about who the next guy would be next to
Kelsey and and and trying to, you know, find that
the next great It says at matter, like those guys
can rotate through because Mahomes is gonna find him. And
now you look at the defense playing the style they
are Jacksonville. You love what Etn's been doing. Christian Kirks
(14:12):
their number one. They're gonna need more from Ridley and
the way watching Trevor Lawrence through the first few weeks,
I don't know that he's a guy that we don't
see with a giant red signal next to his body
going up pretty soon right one of those pregames, Hey
let's do the wacky Doctors game operation. Because sometimes he
(14:33):
stands in too long to take a hit, trying to
do a little bit of the heroics, not to the
Josh Allen's level, but sometimes close. So yeah, there's a
lot of contenders, but you know, I can't throw them
out because he can throw them into a big win
just as soon as he throws them out. Exit out
about a Fresco exit swollen down the Jason Smith Show
(14:53):
with my best friend Mike Carmon live the tyrack dot
com studios. We're in the final stretch to get tickets
to horse racing's bigest moment of the year. The world's
best are headed to Santa Anita for the Breeders' Cup
World Championships on November third and fourth. The countdown begins
now get tickets today at breeders Cup dot com. Well
coming up next, Yes, the marquee game of the Night
in the NBA. It looked like it was going the
(15:15):
Sixers way. Maybe now not so much. But even though
the game is fun, what happened before with James Harden
woh is like ten times better than that. That's coming
up next right here, Jason, Mike and Fab five Freddy
right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Be sure to catch live editions of the Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Fox Sports Radio. Five Second Dance Party because this TNF
game is.
Speaker 7 (15:47):
Over, New new.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with Ma My
best Friend Mike Harmon sucked and Thursday Night Football is over.
Thankfully it is over. The Bills hold on to beat
the Bucks twenty four eighteen, but not without drama and
a Hail Mary that I'm telling you, I can't say
(16:19):
I've ever seen a Hail Mary quite like that. Before.
The Buffalo Bills had the football we last we left you,
the Bills had the football facing fourth and one with
about thirty seconds left to go. They were just on
the Buck side of midfield. They did the old let's
try to draw the Bucks off sides. They did not.
They punted Baker Mayfield gets the Bucks close to midfield
(16:43):
and then there's four seconds left, time for one last
play and I'm thinking maybe Mayfield can make it to
the end zone, but I don't know. It's gonna be close.
But the Bills help out by jumping off side, so
a free play, so that puts the ball near midfield,
Baker Mayfield runs around for about ten seconds and then
throws it up. The ball falls incomplete, not touched by
(17:06):
anyone until it hits the ground. I can't say I've
ever seen a Hail Mary that no one touches until
after it hits the ground. Insane, But that's what we
get from TNF joining us now on the hotline to
break it all down. Nobody better NFL on Fox Inside
are extraordinary, Jay Glazer, Jay, what's happening buddy? How are you.
Speaker 5 (17:29):
Throw? Is perfect?
Speaker 1 (17:34):
Nobody touched it?
Speaker 5 (17:35):
Jay, I know, man, God would not turn around, but
he really like you couldn't ask for anything better than that.
And Baker Mayfield thrown that. I mean that was that
was put in perfectly. Like I'm why don't we seeing
the ball batted down in the end zone?
Speaker 1 (17:47):
But Hall Mary ever, you know, I don't know why
Jay receivers haven't gotten to the point where I know
for the hail Mary, you really want to try to
get it. But understand, when I'm not going to get
this and I'm gonna flop or I'm gonna if I'm
getting dragged, I'm gonna go down and try to get
a pass. Interference call. I don't know how we haven't
gotten to that point yet where receivers haven't gotten that head.
(18:08):
He's saying, Hey, I'm not going to get the ball,
but maybe I could draw flag.
Speaker 5 (18:12):
I don't often. I mean, look, it was basically a
bunch of guys under the basket in this right now,
pushing and show you're not going to call passing the
currence of that. Well, although I should never question.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
What I was gonna say, God would got held Evans
cleared a guy out.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
It was really free for all.
Speaker 4 (18:31):
Was like they were in the octagon there, Jay, I
should help Jay.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
This is where we get close to your idea of
all special forces guys being referees, where you can push that.
Speaker 5 (18:41):
Again, Jack, you're right, Hey, look he's got right. And
I don't know why I got such a pushback on
that that it was a great idea. It's all special
operations special Forces guys to be your officials. They're great underfired,
they're great under pressure, right, they could react in the
prison of all. They're a better shape than these guys,
better position. A lot of them played football, so you
(19:02):
get those guys and they're also I think I think
it's a terrific system to use. You know, Mike Pereira
has a charity where he gets uh uh come out
and train them to be officials. So I think that
needs to be a great feeder system to the league
in college.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
I'll sign up on that. We'll sign that petition as
part of the show. We're there. We got you, Jay.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
It makes perfect sense because officiating, it seems every week
we're looking at.
Speaker 5 (19:31):
Why do I got so much pushback on that? I'll
get it.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
I thought you were going to be made head officiating
after you said that.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
I think it was the referees union.
Speaker 5 (19:39):
And every time I brought up people league may all
looked at me like I'm crazy. I know him crazy?
U for that reason?
Speaker 1 (19:44):
Wow, Like, did like did Ed hockey lely threaten you, like,
like you know, I mean, did he come up to
you and just you know, pose a little bit and say, hey, Jay,
we got to talk.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
Now. Those muffle guys they can't move. We know that,
all right?
Speaker 1 (19:57):
So so you know, tonight we watched the Bill win,
and I don't think anybody is surprised the Bills won.
But Jay, this hasn't quite been the Bills team of
the last few years, they're very inconsistent. They're just not
the same as they were when they were this big
time Super Bowl contender.
Speaker 5 (20:13):
Yeah, I'm not really sure why they're taking a step
back like that. I do think they have the weapons,
you know, obviously, you know, maybe change the defensive coordinator there.
I don't. I think they're trying to figure out what's
going on with them. Why they haven't you know, why
they're taking step backwards. But look, you know, like I said,
like I've said on other shows, like just the part
of the season, you kind of are still trying to
(20:34):
get your flow, evaluate certain things, and eventually, guys, you know,
the these teams end up riding to the top, you know,
when they're supposed to. You know, in week thirteen, fourteen.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
Fifteen, Jay to that point.
Speaker 4 (20:46):
The Bills a team that we see connected with anybody,
you know, photo shopping, wide receivers, running backs. How active
can they be in terms of adding pieces either there
or to their defense.
Speaker 5 (20:58):
Yeah, I think they are. I mean Bills, Bill's gonna
call around, they're you know, they called around a lot
last year and said some swings and guys, just you
know what they're where, they're good at is they last?
Just even if guy they think he's untouchable, they'll still
ask there their GM Brandon Bean is very good in
that way or very aggressive?
Speaker 3 (21:13):
Jay?
Speaker 1 (21:13):
What do you I know that the time, you know,
you hear stuff and people put out what they want
to hear. What kind of trade deadline are we going
to have? We're gonna have an active trade deadline? Are
we gonna have a passive trade deadline? What do you
think we're gonna get in a few days.
Speaker 5 (21:25):
Okay, they're gonna have an active one. But not for
the names you've had, Not for the Christian mccaffreys you had,
or Von Miller's or Jalen Ramseys you saw the last
few years. I don't think they're they're blockbuster names, you know,
like Gon'd be wrong because again, like there are certain
teams that you know they're gonna start calling and start saying, hey, hey,
you know, here's the crazy the crazier part. And you
(21:45):
may may come as surprise, but there are a lot
of teams who actually tell other teams, hey, you know what,
let's see what happens in this week's game before we
decide what we're gonna do. They kind of look at
the trade deadline as they're okay, like almost the line
of demarcations in their season of Okay, are we gonna
kind of cast our chips and get the draft picks
(22:06):
for next year or do we have something here? And
it really is like they go into a lot of
the gms going through it this week thinking okay, let's
see what happens to this week gam before we decide
on player X, Y and Z. We always it's always
kind of I mean, oh, surprise the right word, because
(22:28):
I'm kind of I've seen it all. I think in
this league, the fact that you're looking to go, okay,
you know, let's just let's let's see what happened this
weekend before we decide on this player. If you want
to ship it out of town and you know, I
don't know, it's just you would think that, okay, we
have kind of bigger, long long range plans.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
Jay.
Speaker 4 (22:46):
We had a pretty good laugh earlier this week Jerry
Jones doing his normal radio spot and saying, well, we
like our roster, so I mean, we're not calling, but
if someone calls us, what what are you doing?
Speaker 3 (22:58):
Come on?
Speaker 5 (23:00):
So this is the thing though, because that's the other thing,
like most of the teams. It's so funny against it's
our negotiations. They're like, well, we don't want to call
because it's going to look like Brendy and we're going
to these our you know, negotiating power. We're going to
wait for teams to call us, and every team does,
like you have to call up your other team. You're
not doing your job if you don't call over your
(23:20):
other team. Hey, what's going on? What's out there? Hey?
Just in case you never know? And I'll tell you
the greatest great story, years and years ago is John
Lynch called Bill Belichick Bill Belichick and said, hey, would
you be interested in trading Jimmy Garrappolo? And Bill said no,
absolutely not this soon news backup. So he said no,
(23:41):
absolutely touchable. And then Lynch said, okay, so if he's
in touchable, would you trade a three? Dlick said, would
you ask me? He's like, well, you said Grappolo is untouchable,
would you trade Frady? And it's paraphrasing, but pretty much,
Telichick's like, you just asked us if we would trade
the greatest quarterbacks living. He's like, you said the other
guy was un touchable and you never know. So you
(24:07):
call her out an ask.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
This is true. You're telling me your backup is untouchable,
So I'm gonna ask you for the other guy. I
kind of did that.
Speaker 5 (24:14):
List the rams. You know, you're a few years ago
when they got bon Miller, no one knew he was
on the block, you know they were. They decided they
wanted to pass Rusher, let's go call and you know,
and and you know kind of bond was probably you
know it was blindsided by it also, and they had
that in the works for a couple of days before
it happened. They're trying for that. You started with planting
(24:37):
the seeds and other gms this week in their minds,
and well, if you guys, you know, we'll come back
to here, you know, we're gonna call you again Monday.
Choose it and you start planting seeds in their minds
and sometimes you can get somebody to start making a
move like that.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
Have you ever could you know all the stories and
look the big HBO special on you guys, all the
fun you guys have an NFL on Fox. Did you
ever have any kind of trade deadline prank that you
were in on with any other other teams? Gms? In
years past where that that's like, oh my goodness, I know.
It was something we just had to do it. It was
too funny.
Speaker 5 (25:10):
Yeah, I did on Eddie George Lace, but no, it
wasn't a trade deadline thing. But Eddie had just retired
son about him with the Eagles. I forget. I just
remember Eddie was gonna kill me. I didn't getting picked
up of the Eagles after his career, after it was over.
I forget trade deadline. Frank. It's hard. No, you don't.
(25:33):
You don't really what a Frank the trade deadline is.
And here's also too, It's like one there was a
year that uh Tony Gozalizd has to get out in
Kansas City and the Packers Mike McCarthy ran on him,
and Andy Reid with the Eagles were in on him,
and they both offered Carl Peterson the same type of deal.
(25:55):
There's like a third round pick and a and a
player and conn down to the wire and and like
with like forty minutes left or thirty minutes left, Carli said,
you know, we want to one of two and two teams.
I mean, the Packers and the Eagles were really like
got out of the Wire and Cony wanted to leave
(26:18):
to go playing a contender, and even if they had agreed,
so like there's no time, like they told us, where
there's not enough time. Back then you were like facts
and papers over, so there wasn't enough time to actually
fact things back and forth and get things done. So
it's a frantic. My point is it's a very very
frantic time of the year, not really the time you
(26:39):
played jokes, let friends.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
So then, just so you know, Jay Glazer who once
did yoga, and Thomas Demetrov office telling you there is
no way you can play pranks at the trade deadline.
Speaker 5 (26:51):
Okay, guy, Well that wasn't playing, Frank, I need to
play do yoga.
Speaker 3 (26:56):
He had a spacious office.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
When you're on Smith and now you're right, you're right there,
you're at a big.
Speaker 5 (27:01):
Poor kind of look stressing. It wasn't yoga stretching.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
All right, Jay.
Speaker 4 (27:06):
The Unbreakable podcast this week, John Schneider talking about being
a GM the ups and downs, highs and lows. Uh,
give us a little snippet of that conversation. I know
you guys go back a long way.
Speaker 5 (27:18):
Yeah, but it's also great, like you know, you never
kind of understand, like what goes on between the years
of a general manager. That's why I want to like, look,
leaders got to take care of somebody else. But who
takes care of the leaders? Right? So the coach does
take care of old players all that the GM, everything
goes up on their shoulders and goes to them and
they've got to deal with it, whether an issue with
the coaching staff, a personal issue with them, or personal
(27:40):
issue with the players. And also like, how do you
keep such a likable level, dude? How do you not
get close to players? And when you got to cut
them and you kind of gets in and out. Also,
just the dynamics is incredible. And the other thing about
him and is Tracey, it's amazing. They have a Jaha's
up for another team executive job jam job before Seattle,
(28:06):
and when he was there interviewing, he finds out his
son Ben is autistic and leaves the interviewing and they're
going to offer him the job. And couldn't I was
take the job because he's like, wow, this is this,
this is obviously unexpected, and him a tracer, like we
just got to figure out how to handle this. There
are suddenly the parents of an autistic young son. And
(28:30):
what they've done with that young man. Ben is now
I think twenty one, twenty one, twenty two, and last
year they found out he found out they that Bennis
like has this gift and he has like they had
a canvas in front of him. All of a sudden
(28:51):
he does this unbelievable artwork. We did a feature on
it last year at Fox Denville Sunday back of the show.
They did something. They bought it, like you got to
see that kids work. It's called small The website is
Small Ego Art, as in I have a tiny ego
which I don't have right, so the opposite and take
lest Small Ego Art dot com or go on Instagram.
(29:13):
You guys gotta go on and see that he is
a genius at all these years. Had no idea until
he was like nineteen years old, no idea that he
could paint like this. And you would look at these
things and they are beyond art gallery like it's the
most I have. I have in my home. I have
its first two pendings he's done on either side of
(29:35):
my camium fireplace. It's so remarkable. But just the journey
and what they've done now with his art. Is they
use that or have a business and give back to
other families with children with autism. It's just incredible. Small
ego art. You gotta go. Oh, got me all your
phones right there? Check out Instagram right now, small ego art.
(29:58):
But you will be blown away by what this young
man could do. But they had no idea about until
a year ago.

a couple minutes from right now. A guy who once
tried to trade, but he refused because he's got a
no trade clause in his contract. It's Steve Desager.
Speaker 7 (30:58):
With what's trending in the wide world, I guarantee you
I would have at least turned around for the hailbary
like Chris Connery.
Speaker 5 (31:05):
Hi.
Speaker 7 (31:05):
Goodness, it just didn't landed in the end zone. Tampa
Bay loses at Buffalo twenty four to eighteen. Bills Josh
Allen three total touchdowns, one interception. Allen was thirty one
of forty passing three hundred twenty four yards. Gabe Davis
nine catches eighty seven yards in a score. He was
targeted twelve times. Stefan Diggs of the Bills targeted twelve times.
(31:28):
He had nine catches for seventy yards. Lavonte David fourteen
tackles total in the loss. The Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo
returned to practice after a back injury. Giants QB Daniel
Jones was limited in practice again. The Giants play the
Jets on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
Forty nine.
Speaker 7 (31:44):
Ers quarterback brock Party was limited still as a concussion
not yet cleared.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
Not practicing at all today.
Speaker 7 (31:50):

Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill had a hip injury. Says
he will play this weekend. He returned to limited practice today.
Miami hosts New England. Dolphins running back Raheem Moster was
(32:13):
limited in practice, as was wide receiver Jalen Waddell and
Patriots tight end Hunter Henry and Steelers wide out Deontay
Johnson did not practice due to a hamstring injury. College
football Virginia Tech over Syracuse thirty eight to ten. The
World Series starts Tomorrow night on Fox TV eight pm
Eastern Time. Texas hosts Arizona starting pitcher Zach Gallon for
(32:35):
the d Backs against Nathan ofvald O. The Rangers. Former
president George W. Bush will throw out the first pitch
tomorrow night. He's a former owner of the Rangers. Gatel
Marte of Arizona has a sixteen game hitting streak going.
The postseason record is seventeen for Martey. This is the
longest streak to start a postseason career. Just two NBA games. Tonight,
(32:56):
first at Milwaukee, the Bucks held on to defeat Philadelphia
one eight ten, won seventeen. Damian Lillard, now with the Bucks,
had thirty nine points and no turnovers. In fact, folks,
it's stat zinc if you could believe this, Damian Lillard
did something that literally no other NBA player has ever
done in a game since they started tracking turnovers like
(33:17):
forty five years ago. All of this the same night,
in the same game for Lillard at least thirty points,
eight rebounds, four assists, no turnovers, and making at least
fifteen free throws without a miss. All of that and
they won by one. In the late game. In La,
it's sixty five fifty nine sons in the lead over
the Lakers. Kevin Durant with twenty points the games approaching
(33:40):
mid third quarter, forty seven percent shooting for Phoenix, forty
seven percent shooting for the Lakers. Lakers have fifteen points
from Anthony Davis, twelve from D'Angelo Russell and eleven from
Lebron James. The Lakers bench has only twelve points total
among five guys in the NHL. Anaheim won in overtime Austin,
(34:00):
which was six and oh Duck's got two goals last
two minutes of regulation. Carolina won in overtime against Seattle.
Montreal won in overtime against Columbus and the Rangers leading
the third three nothing at Edmonton.

friend Mike Harmon live from the Tirack dot Com Studios.
Lakers hold off the Suns, Lakers are back. We have
two big NBA stories coming up in about ten minutes.
We'll talk about the Lakers win over the Suns tonight,
plus the craziness that surrounded James Harden and the Sixers
(36:20):
game tonight against the new look Bucks and Damian Lillard.
But tomorrow night, Game one of the World Series. Who's
gonna be sipping champagne coming up in a week. Mike
and I are on opposite sides of this. Yeah, why
don't you tell me who you think is gonna win
and I'll tell you why you're wrong.
Speaker 4 (36:39):
Go ahead, Oh well, thanks, buddy. I'm gonna take the
Texas Rangers. I'm gonna say they starting pitching to start
the series. You can hold hold stamp pat and take
care of business. Look, well, when we look at this
Ranger squad, ninety wins Bochee obviously having great success on
(36:59):
the road. Looking for more of that and magic as
it flows. But I'm also looking for you know, Montgomery
to come up, big, Evaldi to come up big Bullpen
has had his moments. So one thing I worry is
that generating runs maybe a little over alliance on the
big fly when it comes to Garcia. But I'm gonna
(37:21):
put the chips towards the center and that Corey Seeger
is going to be the name we're talking about when
this ends. Just here in Los Angeles for several years.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
You are putting a dagger in the hearts of Dodger fans.
Corey Seeger, your World Series MVP. The Diamondbacks are going
to win the World Series.
Speaker 4 (37:39):
Tell me why there is ain't nothing but a snake win.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
Tell me about First of all, I'll go out on.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
A snake bite right there. I mean, it was the
same syllables.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
Who was supposed to win the first round of the playoffs,
not the Diamondbacks who won. Diamondbacks. Who's supposed to win
the second round? Not the Diamondbacks who won? Diamondbacks. Who's
supposed to win the NLCS? Not the Diamondbacks? Talked about
who won the Diamondbacks going into the World Series. We
talked about this last night. You know me, I'm a
(38:12):
big good pitching, beats good hitting guy, especially at this
point in the playoffs. And while look at what Evaldi
is doing, suddenly become this great clutch postseason pitcher. It's insane. However,
I like the teams that are peaking at the right time,
and the Diamondbacks pitching is what I like. The most
(38:32):
and Gallon and Kelly. Look, Kelly was so chap ass
coming out of that game five minutes. You're taking me out.
I just struck out the side even fought. Is pitching fantastic.
This is the guy that e er Rabe during the
season was five and a half and now suddenly he's
someone that's shutting everybody down. You're talking about these guys
pitching five of the seven games. Especially gonna get Gallon
(38:55):
in Game one, likely Kelly in Game two. I like
the Diamondbacks pitching. I like way more than the Rangers pitching.
They're gonna wind up doing enough because look, you look
at this lineup, Diamondbacks lineup, it's not great. There's a
lot of pressure at the top of the lineup to
come through. They're gonna come through, and Kettle Marte is
gonna be your World Series MVP. Corbyn Carrol's gonna get
(39:17):
a lot of run and he should a rookie. Look
at what he's doing. Three hits in Game seven, two RBI,
he scored a run. He's incredible. But the Rangers are
gonna stay away from him, and as a result, Marte
is gonna be on base a lot. He's gonna hit
for high average. He's gonna score a ton of runs.
That's why I got him as the World Series MVP.
Speaker 3 (39:34):
How about this.
Speaker 4 (39:35):
You've got a Taco Fractor card that was put into
tops this year, Like literally, it's floating tacos behind the players.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
They're number to five.
Speaker 1 (39:44):
Nice all right? Yes, is Adam Base one of them
with floating tacos.
Speaker 3 (39:48):
Adam Base, you get.
Speaker 4 (39:49):
The stolen base, you get tacos. Okay, all right, there's
a first stolen base in the World Series. Get you
tacos for life. Okay, there you go. All right, So
people are now paying exorbitant amounts for the Corbyn Carroll
given his stolen based proficiency during the regular season.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
Yeah but I mean but at this one. Look, people
don't care who steals the bank just as long as
we get.
Speaker 3 (40:13):
No, but you have to have the card of the player.
Speaker 1 (40:16):
Oh you have to have the Yeah, so it's numbered
out card.
Speaker 3 (40:20):
But they'll have the promotion for every schlub while you
buy your ten pack. Hey, get one?
Speaker 4 (40:24):
No, no, no, this is a card that will entitled
you to taco.
Speaker 5 (40:29):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (40:30):
I didn't know you had to have the car yeah.
Speaker 4 (40:32):
Yeah, so the Corbyn Carroll will be numbered to five
the Martine whatever, so a little promotion, a little bit
of intrigue, and certainly the something the card industry. Even
though the cards are odd looking, it's a pretty good
prize on the back end if you can pull it off.
Speaker 1 (40:48):
Exit out by a Fresca exit swollen down. Mike and
I on opposite sides of the World Series. There's our
pick beginning tomorrow night. Well coming up next again. Two
big stories in the NBA. The Lakers survived the Suns
and did Kevin Durant make a business decision at the
end of this game? Plus what happened with James Harden.
You got to hear it to believe it. Fox
