You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Greetings, Happy Halloween, playing the role of Jason Voorhe's and
Michael Myerson Night, the Texas Rangers playing the role of
teenagers having sex in the woods, the Arizona Diamondbacks. Happy Halloween, everybody.
We're live at the tirack dot com studios tirec dot com.
I'll help you get there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping,
free road hazard protection, over ten thousand recommended installers tyrack
(00:52):
dot com. The way tire bonding should be.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
That was a pretty good analogy, because you know, I'm
in backs as the teenagers. Their effort tonight didn't last
very long.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
No no, no, no, no, no. Hey, hey, after the sex,
I'm gonna go get a beer and you stay here
and I'll be right back. Except I won't be right back.
I'll be dead and then you'll be dead. And that's
how it goes.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
Wow, it really went left turn?
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Well's how unless well there is the one where there's
a guy that gets away because he doesn't go home.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
Yeah, but just bar hops.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
I mean they're in that guy, that guy in Friday
the Thirteenth part too. Hey, many places open later? Yeah,
all right, so stay ont late and drink all I mean,
that guy's a legend. Yeah, you want to talk about
a horror film legend. They should have had a sequel
about that guy's life. Yeah, once he heard what the
hell happened to everybody else? He's doing interviews? Now, Hey,
what was the key to you surviving? Man? I stayed
(01:47):
out to drink beer and I didn't finish till like
four in the morning. By the time I got back,
there were police cars and sirens and everything and bringing
out dead bodies and it was crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
So I found the place that was still open. I
went back to it, and then, uh, I don't really
remember much after that.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
It's a really good after party. I met some nice
uh nice moms. They looked after me.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Well, now I see it. It's funny because now Mike
and I are have gone through this because lots of
times over the last few years we have been off
on Halloween for different reason, days off, our kids growing
up doing different things, taking Halloween off. Now both of
us are old enough where our kids are doing their
own thing, and it's I may as well work on
(02:31):
Halloween because you know, we got the World series, got
a lot of stuff going on. See it's the NFL
trade deadline, it's all this sen and the kids don't
need don't need us around. They're doing their own thing.
It's like, okay, let let me. I'll pick you up
from wherever after the show is over. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
I was kind of excited, you know, because they brought
it up the other day. It's like, hey, you taking
a day off. They go, I would have we could,
We could have gone and seen guns and roses. Why
did you say something? And they're like, okay, well all right,
I want to go do this. Like my older daughter's
supposed to have a class tonight. And then the professor
about an hour ago just said, out of hell with
this half of you are you just.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Have a class on Halloween. Well it's like, you know,
it's like playing the World Series on Halloween. Why the
hell you're playing the World Series and Halloween? Come on, man,
why not people walking by windows? Maybe you stop and
watch a half inning. When you try to predict the pitch,
you get the big butter finger if you guess right, sir, sir,
can you please just move on from my house? Sir?
Can you can you?
Speaker 4 (03:23):
Can you see the outcome of this at bat?
Speaker 3 (03:25):
You get a better candy bar, otherwise you get nothing
but a handful of warm jelly bellies.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
I'll give you. I'll give you this candy bar if
you just leave now, how about that. I'll just stop
standing and watching. You're creeping me out. You're creeping the
kids out.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Come on, man, and if your dad back there, can
can guess what happens in this inning?
Speaker 4 (03:44):
You know, hit Air does he retirement order.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
If he gets it right, we either have a nice
domestic beer or if he gets a perfect inning.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Well over there some important stuff we had tonight at
our like we had a couple of people. Will start early.
The younger kids start early.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Oh yeah, right after school, start walking home and reading
the buckets on the porches.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
One of the while, look at you bringing making Halloween.
You just take all the stuff I was doing.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
That guy, it was advocating for what selling. That's the
way it works.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
All you gotta do is just say, hey, yes, it's
great to come home and trick or treat in the
afternoon and go out again at night. No, it said,
I got to turn it into hey, man, I'm just
gonna what does the candy people leave on the porch?
Just dump it all in my bag and leave it. Man,
it works.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
You can just be nice about this, advocating for it.
I'd be the guy now with a ring doorbell saying one,
you get.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
One, put that down.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Oh okay, of the people on this show most likely
to turn into a killer on Halloween, you are you
are the leader in that right.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
Not at all, You're the lad.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Yes, no, you'll be really and the last after the
last ninety seconds, people think you murdered off all the
old aershouldn't murder anybody. Yes, I was just saying.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
The role of get lucky and then you kill them off.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
The role of the murder teenagers tonight the Arizona dude,
it's ten to one in the sixth then come on.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
Man, my guy, Cory done again.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
Yeah, this is a bludgeoning.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
But so we had this girl. We had this girl
come by. She came by with her mom. Mom was
dressed in the cowboy outfit. She was dressed up. She's
like a like a like a bloody uh zombie and
it was really cool. And she's probably about nowhere, she
was any more than five or six years old. And
she came up and I had the candidate. I said,
oh my god, you look so bloody. And she was like,
this is about twenty minutes ago. Said you look so
(05:29):
bloody and she goes, yes, yes, yes, I said, thank you.
I go here you go, and we have a decoration
on our lawn. That's a body like in a body
bag and it got bloodstains on it. And I said
and I said, hey, and in there there's a real
dead body. And she looked at me and she went cool.
And she walked away and she poked it with her
finger and kept coming. I was like, oh my goodness,
(05:51):
gotta keep an eye on that kid. We gotta keep
an eye on that kid for the Yeah, you gotta
follow her. I gotta call somebody. She just said, the
real dead body on the lawn was cool and poked.
She needs some surveillance right now.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
But you always want to call child Services on me.
I mean, are you talking to you? What are you
doing well?
Speaker 1 (06:08):
I think they should have a station like on the
quarter of your block so they can get there pretty fast.
Listen the commute to them, back and forth. The hartment's
were there every day. Why didn't I just move close?
Speaker 4 (06:18):
The best there ever will be.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Right down the street.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
I've even brought in, you know, some chocolate chip cookies
and saw some pretzels, and you didn't bother to appear.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
What do you mean, no appearance by you?
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Let me, no appearance by mem Here we're doing the
show together, yo.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
We are live from the tireg dot com studio. Don't
forget we're in the final stretch. You get tickets to
horse racing's biggest moment of the year, the world's best
headed to Santa Nita for the Breeders Cup World Championships
on November third and fourth countdown begins now get tickets
today at breeders Cup dot Com.
Speaker 5 (06:51):
Look at my hooves.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
We did we do have it. We we do have
We'd have a pretty big Halloween guest that I want
to talk about. In a couple of minutes. But yes,
World Series right now, bottom of the sixth inning rain
is not gonna be to Kempy Mtumba. Rangers are up
ten to one over Arizona and at this point we're
looking at a three games to one lead for Texas.
(07:14):
Diamondback's got to win the last three. Yes, they have
the pitchers you want to see on the mound, but
it doesn't matter. First four games has been all Texas,
and as you picked before, as long as the Rangers
win it, Corey Seeger is going to be your World
Series MVP. To run Homer, to tie the game in
the ninth inning of Game one, to run Homer to
be the difference in Game three when they won three
to one, to run Homer tonight, to push the lead
(07:36):
out to five to five. Nothing in this game, he
has had all the big hits. He is the first
shortstop with three home runs in the World Series ever,
that's never happened before. So as long as the Rangers win,
doesn't matter what anybody does from now on here. Right now,
as long as the Rangers win, he's going to be
your two time World Series MVP. And now you're talking
about Corey Seeger, is he a Hall of Famer because
(07:57):
already here he is in his twenties and he's won
two World Series and two World Series MVPs. Between him
and Bruce Bochie, we're gonna talk about their cases for Cooperstown.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
Well, Bochie would be a given, right. This is number
four coming out of retirement after a couple of years.
Up board, let's go, let's go back to work. Rangers
spent a lot of money. Okay, cool, they didn't spend
it wisely in a bunch of these cases. But that's fine,
that's fine. We'll cobble it together. We'll make it work.
I mean, Seeger thirty three three twenty seven batting average
(08:28):
on the.
Speaker 4 (08:29):
Year would be remissed.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
And Marcus Simeon having himself a hell of a game
as well, five RBI, including the two run triple ahead
of Seeger's home run.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
But Seger starts. It starts to.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
Become an interesting conversation right between the regular season and
postseason and what grabs the voters, I guess is the
best way to put it, because you look at his
regular season stats to this point two ninety two, but
only one hundred and seventy home runs, five hundred and
forty three RBI does have two hundred and thirty doubles,
(09:04):
so he is wrapping him to the wall with great regularity.
But you know those overall numbers right there aren't gonna
be enough. But I would love to hear the arguments
in a room if he stopped, if he does win
another World Series MVP, because we do usually put the
premium on postseason. It's always been the argument trying to
put Kurt Schilling in That hasn't worked.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
No, no, but look, look he'll be a good he'll
be a right now, twenty nine years old, Let's just
say the Rangers win the World Series, right. Corey Seeger
is twenty nine years old. He is a four time
All Star. He is a two time World Series MVP.
He is a very very good, way above average offensive
(09:48):
hitting shortstop. Right his last couple of years over thirty
home runs, eighty to ninety RBIs. He is a great
offensive hitting shortstop. His career batting average is near three hundred,
his career war is up near thirty. So there's not
a lot he has to do other than maintain. And
you're talking about Corey Seeger hall of famer? Now is
(10:08):
he a Hall of Famer? Without the World Series. No,
but hey, when you're the World Series MVP, that gets
you to Hall of Fame. That's gonna get Eli Manning
to the Hall of Fame. The guy was one game
over five hundred for his career. But guess what, he
won two Super Bowls. He beat Brady in both of
them and outdueled him and drove the Giants down from
the winning scores in both games. So he's gonna be
He's gonna get in the Hall of Fame. When you
do something like that on the biggest stage, that's kind
(10:31):
of how it goes for you. And you know, when
you look at some of these great players right in
Major League Baseball history, and I see a lot of
you know, it was kind of fun on my Facebook feed.
There's a lot of stuff going around about how, hey,
who had the better career between these two Ted Williams
or Joe DiMaggio or is it Stan Musul or Lou
Garrig And you know, but Mike Schmidt versus Eddie Murray, right,
(10:53):
who had the better career? And when I look at
what these guys career war is there all like in
the thirties, and I'm like, wow, really, the career war.
These guys are only in the their entire careers. They
mashed like forty home runs a year, driven a buck
twenty and all this, and you have players like Cory Sieger,
who right now his war is over thirty. He's got
(11:13):
a career war of thirty two, and he's gonna play
a few more years, and that career war is going
to get to forty fifty. And and when when when
you think about all the advanced stats that we now
care about for the Hall of Fame, where hits are
less of a big deal and and and war is
a bigger deal and wins are less a big deal
for a picture as it is era or strikeouts or
(11:35):
or whip becomes a big thing. You realize how the
arguments and the qualifications are going to change with the
modern era. And Corey Seeger is one of those modern
era guys. Yeah, look at what he's done, look at
what his career war is, look at what look at
what he has in the clutch. And he's one of
those new modern candidates. And as long as if this
goes the way it does right now, and look, everybody's
talking about Corey Seger being the two time World Series MVP. Yeah,
(11:57):
that's kind I don't know how you keep mo out.
Speaker 4 (11:59):
If it's going.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
I think we also look at, you know, extrapolated a
couple more years playing there in Arlington, because remember he
had his World Series in playoff heroics when they had
that bubble scenario there in Texas with the Dodgers, and
then he goes and joins the Rangers.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
Right now for his.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
Career, a three h five hitter, forty six home runs,
thirty seven doubles at one hundred and four RBI in
six hundred and thirty eight career plate appearances. I mean,
that's pretty impressive, right. You talk about when you go
to it bats, it's one extra base hit, pretended bats.
So you start putting up numbers like that, you do
(12:40):
that for another four or five years. Yeah, all of
a sudden you're at three hundred and forty home runs,
et cetera. So and that career batting average gets even higher.
So the opportunity certainly is there and doesn't look like
they're gonna be short on spending money anytime soon.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
So then you get ready, get ready, Corey Seeger Hall
of Famer, get ready.
Speaker 5 (13:02):
If only the Dodgers had a player like that.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
Jason, Yeah, you know you you.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
Took the words right out of my mouth, Frostburg, because
they they clearly chose. And that's the that's the funny
thing is that the Dodgers they went out and got
Trey Turner and Max Scherzer as part of the deal,
going Okay, we're gonna lose Corey Seger most likely he's
gonna need a big contract for whatever reason. We're gonna
protect against losing him by going to get Trey Turner. Okay,
And now they don't have either of them, and you
(13:29):
you can point to, you can point to that you
want to talk about the Dodgers, and they're hitting and
and and and where their downturn is the difference in
the team the last couple of years, it's a it's
that hole that now exists at shortstop right when they
had to go and plug in Ahmed Rosario for a while.
And you know, because the Dodgers had for a while,
all right, and and it's been it's been really good. Hey, Okay,
(13:51):
we're good if we go from Segar to Trey Turner.
But now you lost both of you. You wouldn't sign him,
and now you just have a huge hole there. That's
your deal.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
The stars that you did spending a lot of money
on can't be regular season heroes.
Speaker 4 (14:05):
They actually have to do something in October.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Oh sure, but you're what you're seeing is in you
had you had what word Jason know about October? You
had two? Have we played in October? You jerk? You
know it's gonna happen. I'm just I'm just upset. The
Jets aren't gonna kick the crap out of the Charges
in October. It's gonna be a November game. Good luck
next Monday, Frostburg.
Speaker 5 (14:25):
Good I'll take side bets off the air.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
Good luck? Good luck? Uh The Jason Smith Show of
the Mike Carmon Live the tire Rack dot Com studios.
Don't forget. We're in the final stretch to get tickets
to horse racing's biggest moment of the year. World's best
are headed to sant Anita for the Breeders' Cup World
Championships on November third and fourth. Countdown begins now get
tickets today at Breeders Cup dot Com. So get ready.
(14:47):
Corey Seeger Baseball Hall of Famer, and he'll go win
as a ranger, probably because you know, winning that second
World Series and all that tuff. Oh yeah, he goes
in as a ranger. Yeah uh. Coming up next today
was NFL. It's a deadline day. We go through the
biggest moves of the day, and boy do I have

Speaker 3 (15:46):
I know, I know, I mean, there was no good
audio on when Bin Yama coming into the arena as
slender Man.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
No, it's a great visual thing. There's no visual accompaniment.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
Yeah. Now, but that guy, that guy, the guy and
that we chair. We're in the football jersey just looking around,
gets the machette in the head and there he hopes
going all the way down the steps. I had a
good run. I know he didn't. The guy was like nineteen.
Come on, man, he was nineteen.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
He was the best night of his life.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
See and then what happened? He got a machete to
the face. Come on, that's like that little face. That's
like that song. No more kings than I took a
crane kick to the face. We're in the final stretch
to get tickets to horse racing's biggest moment of the year,
the world's best headed to Santa Nita for the Breeders
Cup World Championships on November third and fourth countdown begins

in from his various Halloween spots and I think, ty Shirt,
do we have him? Is he ready to come on?
Speaker 5 (16:52):
I think he is.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
He is. Okay, let's hear Michael Myers on the show. Michael,
are you there? It did sound a little wet, didn't
it it?
Speaker 2 (17:01):
And Oh, that was not at all what I was expecting.
Speaker 5 (17:08):
That's him. Michael's a good guy.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
I was not expecting that. I was not expected. No
that I was neither. Yeah, I guess neither. I guess.
I guess it would have been great if you had
just been able to get like a regular interview. He did, like,
you know, you know, about one of his movies, just
him talking about it. Yeah, you know, real happy to
be here, and uh, you know, just you know, looking
forward to the movie coming out next week next Friday. Oh,
(17:32):
that's great, that's great. Everyone likes throwing Brian doing that.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
This is magic, allright?
Speaker 5 (17:37):
Analysis, Oh it smells like carrots and throw up.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Spent a lot of time getting those.
Speaker 5 (17:44):
Didn't you wanted him on the show?
Speaker 1 (17:46):
No, I know you're right here. I didn't know that.
I was not expecting that. Michael mime. I must have
a wrong phone number. How did your book? I I
just I saw that there's on cameo you could do it,
so I was able to reach out for that. Yeah.
Try it was only is it? Oh? Come on, it
was only twenty bucks. It's very cheap. It's actually cameo
for for mass killers, and Halloween is very cheap. It's
(18:08):
not expensive. You would think it would be really expensive,
but they just do so much volume that it winds
up being something where, oh I can I can pay
twenty bucks for that? Works out? Really well?
Speaker 4 (18:18):
I ain't paying for that.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
So the Jason Smitzer with Mike Carbon Live from the
tirec dot Com Studios. I really I was expecting the
other one, but maybe you know what? Who know me?
Should we try again?
Speaker 2 (18:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (18:32):
I try a different number. You want to go to it?
Speaker 1 (18:33):
Oh boy, sure, let's try. Let's try the other number
we got. Michael Meyer's there. Welcome to nineteen seventy five,
Ashton powersh and Pasha.
Speaker 5 (18:45):
What a guy.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
Yeah, that dude's pretty talented. Man, pretty talented.
Speaker 4 (18:51):
Yeah, no doubt, no question about it.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
Absolutely.
Speaker 5 (18:54):
I'm sorry, Joson, that was the wrong number.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
Guess Yeah, okay, I think I have the right one. Now,
she's think just just don't play the butt fumble. You
play the butt fumble work, we're gonna have problems.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
All right.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
Let's see now, is this the number for Michael Myers?
Oh wait a minute, that might be him. That sounded
like a big a swoosh, like a slash of the knife. Hey, okay,
one swoosh. If that's you, two swooshes. If it's not
Michael is at you. This is the hadden Field Michael Myers. Okay,
(19:28):
not the Michael Myers from Austin Powers all that other stuff. Okay,
oh no, it's not. Okay, good, this is Hey, this
is him. Harmon, We got it. We got Michael Myers
second in. Hey, are you in Haddonfield right now? Are
you at the hospital? Oh? Not yet, You'll be in
the hospital later.
Speaker 4 (19:46):
Can you try a light switch for me?
Speaker 1 (19:49):
No? Come on, man, he doesn't tall a light switch. Hey.
How's your Halloween been going so far? Oh? I guess yeah, yeah,
I kind of know what you do on Halloween? So yeah, no, no, okay,
wait wait do you need to do you? When's did
you kill somebody in the last five minutes? No? How
about the last ten minutes? Oh? Okay, cool? Do you
(20:10):
need to kill another person and get off the phone
or you have a minute for us?
Speaker 2 (20:14):
No?
Speaker 1 (20:15):
Okay, so you can stay with us for a little bit,
all right? Cool? Uh you think Corey Seeker's a Hall
of Famer? I love gold. Maybe they're sharing mixed We
got them both up on the line. Now, I like
how you had the Allison powers And then he answered
(20:35):
with the one slash.
Speaker 5 (20:36):
I think he's upset.
Speaker 4 (20:38):
Who's the scarier Halloween version?
Speaker 1 (20:43):
Or do you think Tyser just hit the wrong button?
I meant to hit that one? Yeah yeah yeah, uh okay,
So all right, so Cory Seeker's a Hall of Famer. Okay,
what about Bruce Bochie? Would you Bruce Bochie's hat size
is eight and a quarter. Is there a mask that
can fit his head? Uh? Yeah, probably not very different
be a very stretchy work with his partner in crime,
(21:06):
leather Face. Yeah, that's true that. Hey, could you take
leather Face in a fight. What if you had a
machete and he had a chainsaw? Wow? What if he
had two chain saws? What if he had two chain
saws and all you had was Brandon Staley? Ah see,
there you go. That's where it is. Find out, find
(21:27):
out everybody's got a limit harmony.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
You gotta figure out where that is. You gotta take
it to the limit. Yeah, all right, one more time.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
He's the snake to my mongoose. All right, all right,
one more okay before I let you go, because I
know you gotta go kill somebody? Okay, okay, who has
had a more destructive last few weeks as far as performance,
you or Zach Wilson. One for you, two for Zack Wilson.
(21:58):
All right, Zach Wilson. There we go, but not even
counting Sunday when they beat the Giants. Now, all right,
that's fine. Hey, that's fair. That's fair. That's a hot take.
That's a hot take. I dig that. Can I call
you Mike? All right? Cool? All right, so we'll check
in with you from the hospital maybe next hour. All right,
sounds good, have fun. I hey, tell tell would you
like come?
Speaker 4 (22:16):
Chick you off?
Speaker 1 (22:17):
Cop ball? There you go? There we go. So we
got so we got Michael Myers and Mike Myers.
Speaker 4 (22:27):
We are right, Adam terror.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
I was good. I think he's gonna call from the hospital.
That'd be pretty cool. He might have to be quiet
though at the hospital, because you know he's got he's
got a yeah.
Speaker 4 (22:35):
But does the phone lines work? Because we know the
electricity doesn't?
Speaker 1 (22:38):
Uh y oh, well let's see. Well it is twenty
twenty three, so we probably can you know, doesn't you're
not beholden to a landline like Lorie Strode was trying to,
you know, pull that.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
Yeah, because I'm thinking of Michael Myers running around with
a cell phone.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
Yeah. Hey, it's twenty twenty three. Man, you gonna do
an ad with Ryan Reynolds. Mass Killers have to adapt.
They got to adapt to the times. You can't think
the same guy who's gonna be as successful like Jason
or Michael in nineteen seventy eight. It's gonna be just
successful in twenty twenty three. You gotta roll with the changes, man,
you gotta change with the times. Here's my diaper.
Speaker 4 (23:15):
Oh, he was in a hospital. There are babies.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
The Jason Smiths a Mike Harmon Live in the tirect
Dotcom Studios. Still a big blowout for the Rangers right now,
eleven to one in the middle of the eighth inning.
But today was NFL trade deadline day, and we saw
a couple of really big trades and the first one
went down. Kind of surprising to see how far and
how quickly Josh Dobbs fell from grace for the Arizona Cardinals,
(23:48):
he went from starting, to being promised to starting next week,
to being demoted to third string to now being traded.
Josh Dobbs will now try to help save the Viking season,
as the Cardinals traded Dobbs the Vikings, who've been looking
for a quarterback for the last couple of days since
losing Kirk Cousins for the year. Now the Josh Dobbs
part of it, in the Vikings part of it. I
(24:08):
like it. I like it because what else were you
really gonna do? Okay, you you went out and get
a player who has been playing, who has been starting,
who has played well at times. Now he hasn't played great,
but he's played well at times over the course of
the first eight weeks. And he's someone that you don't
have to worry about rust. He can come right in.
(24:30):
You don't have to worry about can the guy do it?
Because you know he kind of ken used enough from
Josh Dobbs this year coming in going Okay, he's going
to stabilize the quarterback position. Now, is he going to
be Kirk Cousins, No, he's not. But he also has
much better weapons in Minnesota than he had with Arizona,
and he's gonna get Justin Jefferson back. And so the
(24:50):
move for Josh Dobbs is great because it tells the Vikings, look,
we're not punting on the season. We're not just gonna
look there. They're not gonna start this week but most
likely next week. And so we went out to get
guy we think that can help us save the season.
We saw a guy that kept the Cardinals in it
earlier this year. We saw him beat the Cowboys, we
saw him have some pretty good success. Hey, we think
he can come in and play pretty well. If you
(25:11):
couldn't make the trade for Ryan Tannehill or somebody else,
getting Josh Dobbs, he's come right in from starting and
start for the Vikings, there's a lot worse you could
have done. I actually really like this.
Speaker 4 (25:20):
This is the guy.
Speaker 3 (25:21):
Actually, we talked about it briefly on the show yesterday
with Locke and for about you know, Kyler Murray coming back,
Clayton tune that point in the year. But the notice
from Gannon that yeah, Dobbs is now suddenly he's third.
You backed him on Sunday and then suddenly after further
reviews like you didn't know from what you saw on
(25:43):
the field that you were demoting him No, and then
immediately screamed, we're trading him. And I think he's actually
the best option of any of the guys that were
out there right Tannehill's he's a jag at this point
and an injured one at that. Mac Jones. Sure a
change of scenery, but I think that requires a full
(26:03):
offseason for Josh Jobs. He was the last edition. Remember
he was imploring the Cardinals to make his jersey available
a couple of weeks ago, so opportunity to go into Minnesota.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
You know you've got some weapons.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
Jefferson's on the comeback trail, and right now in the NFC,
you still have a puncher's chance to go do some damage.
Speaker 4 (26:26):
Right, You still won that game. Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
A lot of love to him flowing in the social
media sphere because he still showed up for the Vikings
Halloween stuff after getting hurt, and he had that cool
cart that you roll around with and put your leg
up and all and sign an autographs at all, which
is great, good team guy, and he was there and
helping after he'd gone out with the injury, so you know,
(26:51):
positive and he'll help acclimate Dobbs as quickly as he can.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
Yeah, I think it's the right move.
Speaker 3 (26:56):
Guy who's been playing pretty good football under adverse circumstances
in Arizona, right because Hollywood Brown's been in and out
of the lineup. James Connor, your best player was hurt.
Michael Wilson rookie. You're trying to get him integrated, like
all of that stuff that you then go to Minnesota
where you've got some good component parts and you've started
(27:19):
to work cam Akers into that backfield alongside Madison.
Speaker 4 (27:22):
Yeah, I think it's a pretty good move.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
Now at the same point they're they're trading out one
of their guys from offensive line depth is a little curious,
but hey, you know they're not all going to be
winners at the trade deadline.
Speaker 5 (27:35):
Look, how did the how did they not the Jets
not trade for Kirk Cousins today? I mean, he fits
right in in that quarterback room.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
That would be a good room between between him and
Aaron Rodgers. They got two good Achilles. We'll just tape
them together and they can go out on the field.
Speaker 5 (27:49):
If you tape them together and you put them on Zach.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
Wilson's Yeah, I got a couple onlines of getting those
two guys in the room together, but I don't I
don't know that I'll put them on air.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
But but you're ready, you're ready for here. But here's
my hot take. When it comes to this trade for
the Cardinals, you're ready for this. So here's my hot take.
As you mentioned, he went from starting to now he's
traded the Cardinals. You can tell it's a big push
pull and there's a big fight and disagreement between tanking
(28:21):
and playing out the season because there's no way. The
head coaches, no way. Jonathan Gannon says, oh, yeah, he's
starting against the Browns, and then a day later he says,
we watched the tape. No, you have a pretty good
idea how your quarterback? You have a pretty good idea.
Suddenly the next day is we watched tape and may
and made a change. What happened on Sunday was the
Cardinals moved into pole position for the number one pick
(28:44):
in the draft. Right there now, they have the worst record,
they are in pole position for that number one pick,
and all of a sudden, Josh Dobbs, who has played
well and kept him in games. Suddenly he's out and
Clayton Tune is coming into play. Really, that's what it is. Now.
This is where the push pull of the tank and
the play playing starts. Is Obviously there's a big push
from above to say we want a tank, and but
(29:05):
they're gonna hide it by saying, and what are they
doing right now, Hey, Kyler Murray's gonna start. He's gonna
come back soon. Kyler Murray's gonna come back soon. And
I look at this and I go, is he really
coming back soon? Or are they just saying he's coming
back soon? I think it would be at the point
and at some point in the next couple of weeks,
is it going to be, Hey, Kyler can't get back
out there, We're going to wait, Kyler can't play and
(29:28):
they keep losing games and Kyler Murray doesn't get out
there to play and win games and ruin their chance
at getting the number one pick in the draft. When
they can trade Kyler Murray in the offseason a healthy
Kyler Murray and get a lot from him. They're saying
he's coming back, and that's great cover for Well, I
can't believe you trade Josh Jobs you're taking No, no, no, no, no,
we're gonna because because Kyler Murray is coming back soon.
(29:48):
Well wait, why wouldn't you want to keep Josh Jobs
as your backup at least? Why would you need to
trade it? You have it? You really want to go
with Kyler Murray and a guy that's never played before
in Clayton tune, what's going on here? I mean it.
When I heard, Oh, Clayton that Kyler Murray's coming back
soon today, I'm like this, this is a story we're
being told. Don't think we're taking because Kyler's coming back,
and then in a few weeks it's going to be oh,
(30:11):
well yeah, we're not sure about bringing him back. You know,
there was maybe a little bit of a setback maybe
this man, Yeah, he's not going to come back and play.
So is Kyler Murray really going to come back and play? Yeah,
that's my hot take. You're not going to see him
and this is a continued tank all the way for
the number one pick in the NFL Draft.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
Well, I think the other part that goes with it
really quickly was by saying, hey, Kyler Murray's healthy and
ready to go. That was also just waiting the flag, saying, Hey,
if you really want to try to fix things and
you want to come get Kyler Murray, what are your offers.
I wouldn't be surprised if we get the leaks of well.
A couple of teams inquired, but the asking price was
(30:47):
just too high with the money and the contract in place,
as he hasn't put anything on tape before the deadline.
Speaker 4 (30:54):
But here we are.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
Dobbs is a member of the Vikings and it's Clayton tuned.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
It's two time. Maybe let's go.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
It's the big tank in they're trying to hide it
with us. Old Kyler's coming back. Hey, yeah, yeah, there's
a difference between saying it and actually seeing it. Twitter

Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith

Speaker 1 (31:52):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon. Boy, do I Halloween story for you
coming up in about ten minutes. Oh boy, but guy's
still falling down the stairs. But big night in the
NBA tonight, the knixt one and of course team in
(32:12):
Orange winning on Halloween. It's a very big deal. The no, no,
the next one. It's it's pretty documented. Watch the everybody
watches the Knicks.
Speaker 5 (32:22):
It barely made Isaac's update.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
Come on, everybody watches it was again, come on, nobody
had to text him to.
Speaker 3 (32:28):
Get into Although we do have magic and Clipper now
we do just started James Harden.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
James Harden is not playing in this game. He'll likely
make his debut the next game that the Clippers play,
Like ten minutes after we got off the air last
night that James Harden trade goes down like Woes was
waiting for us to finish doing the show and said, Okay,
now I'm gonna put it out there, like come on.
Man said, well, you couldn't give it to us, like
twenty minutes ago. We could have talked about the last
(32:57):
twenty minutes of the show. James Harden finally a Clipper.
And it's not the trade that the Sixers thought. However,
with what the Sixers got, they like it because it
gives them flexibility. They got a couple of first round picks,
They have players they can move at some point during
the season to get that third guy to help Joel
Embiid and Tyres Maxi. But mainly this is for Joel
(33:20):
Embiid for them to say, see we're trying. Don't ask
for a trade. Look we got we I know we
didn't get guys you expected for James Harden, but look
we got a lot of assets we can move and
bring that third guy in at some point in the season. Joelle,
just hang with us a little while longer. Don't demand
a trade. Everything is good, man, we know what we're doing.
(33:41):
Just hang with us a little bit longer, and Darryl
Morey and the Sixers bought themselves a couple of months
to try to figure out how to satisfy Joel Embiid
before the trade deadline, he says, it's not working. I
want to go someplace else, just like Kevin Durant did,
just like Shaquille O'Neil did when he knew he had
to go someplace. They all knew. So, hey, we get
to the point in our career where the next part
(34:03):
is about winning championships, and Embiad's gonna say, I've had it.
It's not happening here in Philadelphia, and that's gonna happen
to the deadline. But again, Darryl Mory has bought himself
and the team a little bit of time for that
to happen. So congratulations.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
Yeah, it just comes back to you've got to distress property.
You weren't getting Terrence Man. That was decided. Now it's
well what do you get out of it. You get
some expiring contracts and then you get what everybody loves,
a bunch of draft picks. So now it's the discussion
of those draft picks get spun out any of these
other assets and what becomes available to come in and
(34:36):
convince Embiid that he should stay a sixer. I'd love
the behind the scenes and the chats between Darryl Morey
all the brass and Embiid and his representatives over the
last couple of days as this came to fruition. Right, Hey,
I'm all packed and ready to go on a road trip.
Beat it hard. You're not coming with and so you
(34:57):
knew it was getting into the boiling point of something
coming down.
Speaker 4 (35:02):
We talked about it.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
The odds of Harden's next team were all right, Clippers
where he wants to go, or you know, the Bulls
had become the second option on the board, and I
would have celebrated his arrival like no other you kidding me,
no question about it. I would have had one of
those jerseys because you know, fifty year old fire plug
(35:25):
looking white guys.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
Sure, Oh yeah, those jersey jersey would have been down
to your knees, absolute percent. Yeah, it would have looked great.
I'm just saying, my heart is really stretched across the bat.
Speaker 3 (35:38):
And not even a swoll back anymore. Now it's just
a fat back. But the idea being that he's now
a Clipper, and to where he wanted to go. So
in theory, you're gonna get the best version of James
Harden in theory.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
But look, but let's be honest, because I've seen people
trying to defend this trade, and yeah, in absolutes, it
could be fine because the Clippers have enough talent and
Hardens a guy is a really good, complimentary player who
led the league in assists last year. Right, But you've
seen how bad it turns for Harden at every stop,
every stop, it gets bad, and he gets mad and
(36:13):
he wants out, and he thought devastation in his wake.
He gets mad, he gets sad. He's not glad, he's bad.
He's he's he's I'm he's said, there's a tiny tad
of of bed and he and there are kads everywhere
out of uh. But you see how you see what happens,
(36:36):
and he leaves a wake of devastation and the team
has to do whatever they can to pick up the
pieces and move on, and they're never left in a
better spot than when he leaves. I mean, why is
it gonna be different for the Clippers? How's it gonna
be different for me?
Speaker 4 (36:48):
I think it's because he wants to be here. He's
come home.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
He wanted to be the other places too. He loves
l a More on this more NFL trade deadline coming
up next five x
