The way tire buying should be Well, we'll get to
Thursday Night football coming up in a second, But we
have spent some time ask you Knights, telling you, hey, guys,
the era of Wemby is gonna be here faster than
you think it's gonna be here. That learning accelerated quickly.
(01:14):
He's like his nickname should be Skynet. The way he
learns so fast. Pretty good. He should be. But I
know people are upset about AI right now. Do you
see the story of the guy I wrote the other day?
One of the guys in charge of my is says,
it's so important the world sees AI and what it
can do. It may bring about the end of humanity,
but it's important we have AI. I'm like, oh, I
don't know that that's the case. Then, I don't know.
(01:35):
I know. No, we've been saying that with computers for
a long time. We've been talking about the environment, and
people have been predicting our doom for hundreds, if not
thousands of years. But yeah, AYI is gonna be the
one that takes over. I mean, that's it. We already
have lobots showing up at baseball games, I mean bad things. Yeah.
Do you think if they really as a joke on
(01:56):
on on on the world, if AI takes over and
kills us all, they will build the machines to look
like they do in the Terminator and go ah, we're
even gonna build it just like was Ford shodout from
nineteen eighty four. Good luck you do you don't think,
I mean they've got that House of Horrors down on
Hollywood Boulevard. That's got all the artifacts from movies. That
T two's coming to life. Yeah, the glowing eyes are
(02:20):
suddenly gonna be that much brighter as they start terrorizing
and tearing up the Walk of Fame. Artificial Intelligence has
a picture of James Cameron, our founder. Thanks, Like in
the good place, the money guessed what does life was
all about? Got closer than anybody else ever had? Welcome,
This is this is our leader, James Cameron, Thank you,
(02:41):
Thank you for pushing it forward. I'm said, we got
to get it, gotta get eyed Miles Bennet Dyson right now,
Well either that or you know what happens. Like you
had your dog Benny, Happy birthday, Benny dressed like Chucky. Yeah. Yeah,
a lot of dogs were dressed like Chucky the last
two years. Yeah. It's an army of those that take them. Okay, okay,
an army of dogs dressed like Chucky with real knives.
(03:04):
Well like that. Now they've got the spirit of Chucky.
Sure them as soon as you put that, because you
know like it, I mean it means the animal. Yeah,
but my dog looks at me like anytime we even
try to put a sweater on him. When it gets cold,
I mean cold ish here in southern California at night,
you gotta take them out. You put a sweater on
your dog, well you're going to put the like yeah,
(03:24):
he's he's a little chihuahwe. He's got nothing, you know
that's frowned upon right well by the dog especially. He's hateful.
He looks at me and just like stares at me like, well,
he's always in dog doesn't like that. He doesn't need
a coat. No, he does hate. He does hate. I
gotta sit here, great, this, my idiot human is gonna
put this on me again. It's so itchy and well
(03:45):
and I don't like. Well, you got itchy and scratchy,
and they're they're part of the problem with the ai
and the hooses and the whats it's in the world ending.
Would you like some lemonade? Please? Thank you, thank you,
But yes, the dogs as soon as you put those
outfits on it, they'll tell me that I look at
you side. They might get along with it eventually, but
when those first couple of minutes, there's some hate, some
(04:06):
real hate that you can capitalize on. There eight and
a half to go. The Suns have cut the Spurs
lead to one oh nine one oh one. It's been
a big Spurs lead the entire night, led by Victor
wembin Yama, who is one bucket away from his first
thirty point game as an NBA player. Twenty eight points,
(04:28):
eight rebounds, couple of assists. He has had his best
game so far. And look, we talked about when he
was going to wind up being the best player in
the game. Rick Buker said, hey, sooner rather than later,
he's going to overtake Giannis. His skill set will overtake
Giannis his learning curve, like, I mean, that's why he
should it should be Skynett as fast as he is
adapting to the NBA game. The Spurs from the beginning,
(04:52):
I said, watching this kid, I said, if they're not
in the playing round, something's wrong because they can make
that kind of jump. This year and so far, you
have seen the Spurs play really well, and Wemby has
played really well. He's not even had to play big minutes.
He's twenty eight points in twenty eight minutes. It's not
Lebron where suddenly it's we're gonna limit your minutes. Oh,
you gotta go forty five to night Lebron, We're in
(05:14):
overtime against the Clippers. He has been everything, not just
that was expected he was expected to be, but he's
been everything that NBA fans hoped he would be at
this point early in his career. Oh, absolutely absurd, right
the showing the range three point shots been off the
last couple of games tonight two of five from the field.
I mean, he's got the under on the blocks, right,
(05:36):
because didn't we just put that in that it's two
and a half every game right now, he's at two,
but runs the floor, can get out on the break
after a big rebound, and you're seeing him become more
asserted in the paint. Right. Remember, we watched the first game,
not unlike the first game of the exhibition campaign where
it seemed to a all right, it's a feeling out
(05:58):
process a bit, and we saw that that wasn't as
aggressive getting into the interior, picked up some falls and
then you're kind of caught no man's land. Well, it's
been a much better run since then. But you know,
the leader of this thing off the bench that's really
making it all go is Doug McDermott. Ah, you got
tuggy Nick Buckets in he's minus twelve, but he's got
(06:22):
six points. But yeah, wem ben Yama just we've got
it on one of our monitors. We had that the
other games and of course Thursday Night Football. But like
my eyes just kept drifting down to watching wem ben
Yama defensively and what he does to alter shots. You
want to go into the lane. You keep getting caught
in the air making bad passes out because you can't
(06:43):
challenge inside, knowing that you're going to get rejected. So
much that he does in the game to affect things
on both ends of the court. It's just it's fun
to get that new blood, right. We always get it
come draft time and we get a bit excited and then,
let's face it, most year you're fairly disappointed as now
how that goes this year? Hey, you got yourself a
(07:05):
superstar that's already there and we're two weeks into a season. Skynet,
I mean really, because he's so just sent it to
my sky Net. Everything's sky Neet. There you go, here's
a picture of him. He's Skynet and here he is
as the Slenderman. And then I need you to I
need you to create a logo for me get at it?
Does he have papers? Uh? Papers like a show doc

(07:53):
Thursday Night Football goes to the Pittsburgh Steelers and you
saw the graphic go up, Kenny pick It another game
winning drive in the fourth grow Okay, you know a
game winning drive. Just because you're losing and then you're winning,
doesn't mean you have a game winning drive, right, just
means you were losing and then you won. Kenny Pickett
is still average at best. Yes, the Steelers won, but
(08:16):
this is kind of the Steelers' identity. It's I were
waiting for this. It's been years and the Steeler's been
the same thing. Boy, why don't the Steelers win more?
They should win more, they should win easier. They're talented.
But this is just how they do it, they look
bad again. They look bad every week, and now five
out of eight weeks they've come away with a win.
This is just how the Steelers do it. They're ugly,
(08:37):
they don't look very good, and yet they win. And
Kenny Pickett at I would say, if I had to
pick between Kenny Pickett and Zach Wilson this year, it's
a little bit of a toss up. I still make
o Kenny Pickett a tiny bit. But stop with Kenny
Pickett being elite. Stop with Kenny Pickett is going to
be a great quarterback. Kenny Pickett is a game manager.
That's what he is. One out of every eight passes
(08:57):
he throws really well. And it happened tonight where hey
he got to the end zone. He got down the
sideline a couple of times. But Kenny Pickett is just
a guy. You have two pretty good running backs in
Jalen Warren and Najie Harris, and Jalen Warren looks like
he's becoming the lead back. Ish probably a guy if
the workload is now gonna be me sixty to forty
in Jalen Warren's favor, he had a couple of really
(09:19):
talented wide receivers Deontay Johnson's come back and dominated. George
Pickens has a lot of talent as long as he
knows what he's doing on the field and gets his
feet and bounds. But you have a pretty decent base
of a team in Pittsburgh, but you're not overly talented.
And when you don't have a great quarterback, this is
what it looks like. And because Kenny Pickett is kind
(09:40):
of just a guy, he's not even like I said,
he's not even elite game manager. He's just a game
manager that can make a throw once in a while.
That's kind of who the Steelers are. They're overachieving right now.
So you want to be met at Matt Canada. Yes,
there's a couple of reasons why he could be mad
at Matt Canada. But bottom line is, Kenny Pickett's not great.
Just the wish again, hoping he was gonna be great
(10:01):
and thinking that he cut down on his picks at
the end of last year, meat he's gonna be great
this year. That argument doesn't work. We've seen enough of
Kenny Pickett to know, all right, this is kind of
what you're gonna get from the guy. There's gonna be No.
Three four touchdown games, three hundred yard games. No, that's
not what he is. You're gonna win and you're gonna struggle.
If you win with Kenny Pickett's quarterback, I'm not gonna
believe in him. It goes back to chicken egg, chicken
(10:24):
or the egg kind of conversation. Right they had it
in Chicago is a getzee and the offense you're trying
to run justin fields. When we draw up that pie chart,
how big a slice does each guy get? And with
Kenny Pickett and Matt Canada, it's the same thing. And
because the Steelers continue to win, you're gonna get more
love for the guys on the field than Matt Canada
(10:45):
because you're saying you're winning in spite of whatever the
scheme is. Now, it was maddening to watch this game
on both sides, just some dopey third down calls. All right,
all right, we're gonna push the ball down the field,
say the Tennessee side third down, give it to Spears.
They'll never suspect it on third and four. And they
did that multiple times. Yeah, likewise, did the Steelers expect it? Yes,
(11:07):
they did, Like the Steelers the same thing. What's their identity?
And they want to be hard asses. They're going to
continue to try to run the ball. Can they do
it effectively? About one every eight runs? And that's kind
of where we're at. But here's your status steat of
the evening, as it were from Joshua Dubao Gibo of
the AP Right now, the Steelers the twenty ninth team
(11:33):
in the Super Bowl Era to be out gained in
every one of their first eight games. The other teams,
the other twenty eight teams had a collective winning percentage
of one ninety two one ninety two Steelers of five
and three. The year of living dangerously. I mean, look
(11:56):
at that one more play. That's just that's just who
the Steelers are, right, Because you look at your identity
or you're wondering all they should be doing this and that,
because you're clinging to an image of the Steelers that
hasn't been around for ten years, right, this is kind
of who they are. They've slowly lost their weapons, They've
not replaced them with as good weapons because look, you
don't replace Le'Veon Bell. Okay, you go Le'Veon Bell to
(12:18):
your next invention. Now it's Najie Harris and Jalen Moore.
Now you go Antonio Brown to Now it's Deontay Johnson
and maybe George Pickens. It's not what it was, not
the star studded Steelers teams that you had of the
late aughts into the early teams. And this is the Steelers.
This is Steeler football. We're gonna play really good defensively,
and we're gonna make our fans seem like we're not
(12:42):
doing enough when we should be doing more. We're gonna
leave them empty and unfulfilled. But we'll still be in
the playoff race every year. That's the Steelers. That's the Steelers. Now, well,
I mean, and that's the question we always ask with teams.
Would you rather be kind of on the verge and
you make the playoffs and then you go and you
get thumped and occasionally maybe you find your way through,
(13:04):
but let's face it, those are few and far between,
or would you just rather be out of it come November? Going,
all right, let's find those lottery tickets for April. Let's
get it on. Yeah, the Steelers. The Mike Tomlin way
to your point about stars and more so like stars
with a capital S, you know about TJ. Watt, You
(13:26):
know about high Smith. Two guys that can get after
it defensively. Joey Porter Junior. I want to give him
credit tonight because he basically said I'm shadowing. DeAndre Hopkins
said he went to Tomlin on Tuesday and said I
want him, so no matter where he lined up on
the field, they were getting after it all night tonight
in a big Steelers twenty to sixteen win. The under

The Jason Smith Show with My best Friend Mike Harmon
livethetirack dot Com studios. UH may get thirty eight points
for Victor Winminyama, who has taken over this game at
the end. I'm telling you, sky Neett, he's learning. He's
(14:49):
learning so fast. I can't wait for the postgames from
Kevin Durant talking about having this guy hanging out in
the lane hoof. The Spurs lead at one twenty eight
to one sixteen over the Suns with a minute twenty
seven left to go in the fourth quarter. And it
has been looked and Victor webbin Yama has done this
in about thirty three minutes, thirty eight points, ten rebounds,
(15:10):
a couple of assists. He has done everything tonight. He's
plus twenty one. He is outlook Wemby. I'm telling you
we talk about the era of Victor wembin Yama. It's here,
all right. The era of him dominating is here. And
the Spurs should easily be a five hundred ish team.
And maybe I sold a little short with Ah, they
(15:31):
should be in the playing round, definitively in the playing round,
maybe a little bit higher. Well, you know, it's still
only the second week. We'll stay with that for now.
They're gonna slow it Wenby down, He's he's peaked. That's it,
You're done. We're stopping you. I think of it like
we do with a lot of young players, and we
do with a lot of guys at the other end
of the spectrum. We've got to be cognizant of when
(15:51):
the body, uh maybe needs break. I know that's true.
You're right, you're wondering if you get rookie Walls. And
I don't want to try to speak any kind of
injuries into existence, but history has not necessarily been kind
to the big men in terms of their limbs early
in their careers, before they build that up. One thing
(16:15):
I like in this game is that you have Devin
Booker in the lineup on the other side. He had
zero points in the first quarter. He's played thirty four minutes.
He's up to thirty one and twelve assists, nine boards
for the night. You got Kevin Durant playing a full
thirty six minutes. He's got twenty six and six. And
the only guy that really hasn't been able to be
(16:35):
impactful is well, we haven't seen any of Bowl Bowl,
which would have been fun, but the stars were out
and on the road. Now inside the final minute here
the Spurs and c Greig Popovich, who looks like he's
found the way back machine. We're talking with Jay Glazer
and he's like, yeah, I got my stem cell and
(16:56):
I'm taller and everything's right and I'm not in any pain.
No pain for Greg Poppa, I'd be excited to fight
at Wemby. You kidding me. I may stay around a
little lot longer, everybody. It may Siretto and his ass
off on the sideline. We're gonna have great He's gonna
give great interviews again. Oh he still he's still gonna
be a snark here, you know, No, he's gonna be
Come on, you gotta be happy with Wemby, man, you
(17:16):
gotta be happy. Well, he's had a couple of chances.
He's he's not gonna go Belichick, What do you want
me to say? Hey, Greg, what do you think about Wemby?
What did you think he was? Okay? Next question? No, No, No,
he's gonna be looking web. No, he's gonna be happy. Now. Hey,
look at this. He's given me my second career. Here.
Look look how great things are. Give you one of
those responses like Belichick did after McDaniel's got fired. Hey,
(17:40):
Josh mcganne's got a Yeah, we're on to Washington. Thirty
eight points for Wemby. Now, we did have the World
Series last night, and coming up in a little bit,
I'll tell you exactly why I'm okay with the Rangers winning,
even though I didn't work last night. But well, everybody
was worried about you. I don't know, I know, I mean,
there was some concern. There was just a lot of mocking. Yeah,
(18:02):
we could have done a couple of segments of just
reading tweets and shorts that I got at your expense. Well, Jason,
the floor is yours. Now you can congratulate Max Schuerzer
and Jacob de Grum right now, the floor is yours. Well.
I will, I will, I will. I was gonna I
was gonna talk about the big move of the day, Fred,
then we could talk about it. Well, let's get to
the big move of the day, big move of the day. Uh.
I was stunned. And this shows you that they're gonna
(18:24):
go big game shopping in the offseason, the Dodgers agree
to a two year extension with Max Muncy two years,
twenty four million. I'm like, wait, two years and twenty five,
not twenty four million a year. Two years and twenty
four million for a guy who who came off a
bad year last year and is now thirty six and
(18:46):
one hundred right, Max me, Yes, yes, he hit you
know twelve, But you know, guess what petere Lonzo is
going to make fifty million dollars a year because you
get two twelve with forty zero runs and one hundred
and ten runs back an end. So he had a
fourteen million dollar club option for twenty twenty four and
now it's a two years a bit, but it's two
year deal with the third option for only ten millions there.
(19:08):
But here's these thirty three and if this is who
he is, which is kind of who is if Max
months he hits two twelve batting average is not as
big a deal. Look, his ops is high, his war
is good enough. If you're a thirty six and one
oh five guy fourteen million a year, I mean twelve
million a year. This tells me, first of all, the
MLBPA can't be happy with that. They can't be happy
(19:29):
with a really tell that's that's all you're gonna give
Max Munsey After the year he hit really, that's all
he's gonna get. Now, this is a guy that should
have gotten Morris's pissed he should have gotten twenty six.
I could have gotten that guy twenty five four. He's saying, Wait,
this means petere A Lonzo is gonna get less money.
Uh So this is a great move for the Dodgers,
and it also tells you that they saved a lot
of money in locking into their cleanup hitter for the
(19:52):
next two years. They're gonna go spend a ton of cash.
But I'll tell you what, don't spend it on Otani
hitting was I know in the play offs that Mookie
Bets and Freddie Freeman didn't hit. They hit all year.
I get it. I know it seems like, oh, we gotta,
we gotta Yeah, the Mookie only hitting the playoffs when
he was with that other team he was allegedly up
(20:13):
to Shenanigans. You need starting pitching, You need two or
three big time starters. Because it's another year with Clayton
kersher that you don't know how good he's going to be.
You don't Julio riis probably not gonna be on the
team anymore. You don't know what kind of version of
Walker Buley you're going to get you try to make
a trade of the deadline that didn't work. You need
three starting pitchers and there's a lot of them on
(20:35):
the on the market this offseason, which is great, But
you need three starting pitchers if you're the Dodgers. That's
where you gotta go spend your money. You know you can't, well,
Bobby Miller, no, no, come on, you gotta go get
a You can't. You can't bank on guys coming back
from Indura. You need to go get some pretty good pitchers.
I'm not saying overpay for Blake's now because I'm not
doing that. But there's other guys that Aaron Nola is
(20:56):
gonna be out there. There's some pitchers that you need
if you are Dodgers, because that is such a glaring need.
Look at the lineup that was in the World Series.
The Rangers lineup outside of Simeon and and Seeger stinks.
The Diamondbacks lineup outside of Corbyn Carroll and Ketl Marte
is even worse. And yet these two teams are in
the World Series. Why look at some of the pitching
(21:16):
they got, right, Look a look at Nathan Valdi, who
suddenly is the next great clutch pitcher in MLB history.
Look at the Diamondback starting pitchers and what guys like
Merril Kelly were able to do all the way through
in Zach Gallen, who had a no hitter into the
seventh inning last night. If you're the Dodgers, spend that
money on pitching, then this Max Munsey deal, this tells
me they're gonna go out and they're gonna be ultra
(21:39):
aggressive to try to get that this year. Yeah, it's
the curiosity. Is Clayton Kershaw gonna come back for one
more run? I suspect he does. Oh, he's not going
out with his last game being I gave up five
runs on five hits in the first inning of that
game that lost the series. Who's to say you don't
come back and that happens again. Yeah, but if it
happens again, it happens again. But he's not gonna go
(21:59):
out with that being. Yeah, but by the end of it.
But we've seen that in a number of playoffs scenarios.
So do you do you want it to be that
You're gonna go into the next season with nobody I'm
going to go I'm just talking about Clayton Kershaw himself
for the moment, where would he rather go join the
Rangers as he was rumored to be doing this past year, Right,
(22:20):
he could have been hanging out with uh Seeger and
all the x Mets. He'd have been hanging out with
de Gram and sures. Hey, we're all hurt, guys, this
is awesome. Let's play one more. We could play cards.
I got a cooler looking sweatshirt to where than you did.
But you look at the marketplace you talk about Blake Snell.
I think everybody's smart enough to go through the logs
(22:40):
and recognize the two best years he had or contract years,
and to not be rope adoped into that. I'll sign
for a year. I'll give you one year Blake Snell
and the bonus Nutsy're gonna pay him five hundred million
and an option. But yeah, you go through and look, man,
as much as you said there's a bunch of guys,
there's not. There's a bunch of guys as in jags,
(23:04):
there's a bunch of number threes available. There's not a
lot of but so you don't know what when those
threes can turn into Nathan Valdi's Are you someone that's
gonna give you winnings, and not where you're saying, okay,
we're gonna go to an untested rookie here in game two.
That's going on. And we also got into bullpen games
in the World Series, psychologically scarred from that, which is
(23:28):
why last night, I mean, come on, I was in
Heaven six dining. Both starters are there. I had that
deer going down my eyes, that single tear like it's
it's baseball first time. It's two thousand and six. That'spened.
It was just not. Carrie Rowans is in for you
last night, and he just goes, you're just giddy watching
this game, Like, dude, the starters are still in. I know.
(23:51):
It's what the World Series used to look like. It
was great. It was great, and so this is what
the World Series, this is what it should be with
because you could sell with every assing inning the amount
of tension that was racked. Wow, I can't believe that.
How is it? How many innings is Zach Allen gonna go?
He could pitch you, no, hitary, He's got the pitch,
he's got the pitchcock going. And look at Avaldi who
(24:13):
keeps getting in and out of trouble in every inning.
It's just something different about the quality of the game.
When you have a starting pitcher that can go five
or six innings and that looks Max Munty, it's an
incredible deal for the Dodge. Oh yeah great, And now
they just have to go and get starting pitching because
it's not about superstar starting pitching. It's can we get
a Nathan Levaldi? Can we get it? There's lots of
(24:33):
guys like you get enough guys right Montgomery is is
a free agent. As you go and look at the
logs of who's available here, so be aggressive. It's the
curiosity of the psychology of the Dodgers front office right now,
because I don't know that they've ever taken this much
incoming for an offseason. Right For as much as we've
(24:53):
talked about, Hey, the Dodgers, they've got the one, and
people will diminish it because of the the bubble and
playing in Arlington and all of that stuff, and fine,
do it. It still counts. But for the other postseasons
where you win one hundred games and then the season
ends abruptly in the playoffs, there's usually been kind of
a free pass because it was still kind of feel good.
(25:14):
This year felt different, and I think part of it
was that the two guys that carried you were invisible,
and Mookie Betts add on to it. I mean, they're
piling on right, Petroos and Matt and everybody here. AM
five seventy are our flagship on the Fox Sports Radio
network here in Los Angeles. Everybody's just wise, Mookie out,
(25:35):
you know, just being a man about town while the
playoffs are going, because the optics are eh, you know what.
It was a good run.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
I'll say this, I'm okay with the Rangers winning the
World Series because I didn't know how i'd feel. The
disaster scenario was averted, which was anybody from the nlest
winning the World Series. We had three teams in the playoffs,
none of them won. Is that really the disaster? Oh yeah,
I can't watch another kidding in five five year span,
three teams, none of them are mine. Three different teams
(26:16):
win the World Series. Can't have it, can't have it,
And now I can wear my Metskier much more often
now because the team from The Analyst did not win
the World Series, So the Rangers, if they won, How
was I going to feel about de Gram and Surres
are winning the World Series? And I said, they didn't
really do anything, So I'm fine. I mean, when you
(26:37):
are in your postseason official team sweatshirt because you're not
on the roster because you're either injured all year like
de Grom, or you were bad and you're injured now
like Max Schurzer. Yeah, okay, they won, but it's not
like they did a lot. I'm okay. Yeah, okay, they
did go his ring, they did, No, they did. But
I mean, how do you know they weren't instrument the
(26:59):
scene because I d be no way behind the scenes
that they were instrumental as mentors to young Evaldi. Yeah
he's not that young, but him his oldest shirts are.
But the button maybe just kindred spirits in the same
place in their life. I'm okay. If if I'm healthy,
(27:19):
you're not, let me use use my mind, use your arm,
and together we're a super team. Grim say hey, throw
strikes Hey, thanks Jake. I appreciate that. I was great.
We're about this. No, no, No, I really don't care
how many extra I had to watch this if I
had to watch de Gram and Sure are in the
(27:41):
World Series and de Grom goes seven innings, one hit,
thirteen strikeouts and they win Game two. And then Sures
are six innings, one hundred and fifty five pitches and
he's all sweaty that he strikes out eleven and no,
then it's a different story. But they kind of didn't
do anything, So I'm okay with They're so good they
didn't even have to piss. Yeah, that's they didn't even
need him. Did they really get a ring? I mean really,
(28:02):
did they actually combined have more rings than the Mets franchise. No,
both of them each have a ring, and the Mets
franchise has two, and said combined would be three. Three
is large for Sures before he became a Met. Three
you know what else became a Met? No, three is
a magic No. No, Sures are wars has two. No,
but it's only one since he became has one. That's three.
(28:25):
It's one is greater than the guys that go before.
That doesn't matter what they did before they became a Met,
it's after they became a met Now they each have
the same they each have one. Now if you say
Schurezer and de Crump and Travis Jankowski former met. Okay,
then that's three great at the KOs getting you get
(28:45):
a big hit and everything, it's like, well and then
it was harder than twenty one year old. I know,
it was running around like he'd been there before. Chakowski
was our fifth great? Is that even congraduate? Move on
getting it in the world and his age eight and
an eighth hat or heading to the Hall of Fame
in the quarter eight in the quarter. Yeah, gotta a
big hat exit out about a Fresca swollen down. The

Oh away, donkey Well, the night tonight belong to Wemby
(29:49):
Victor wembin Yama thirty eight points, ten boards for the
Spurs as they beat the Suns one thirty two, one
twenty one. I mean, it's Skynet's a great nickname because
he just keeps getting more and more unstoppable, and that's
kind of where he is already. The Spurs are winning games,
they're winning games on the road, they're beating good teams.
(30:11):
When min Yama is playing low minutes and still producing
at a high level. I mean, the era of Wemby
is here. Man, I got better nickname. It's while like Skynet,
but the era of Wemby is here. Stop putting it
out there. I've got my older daughter plays around on
pro Create. She might be able to get something sketched
together by the end of tomorrow. So they're enough with that.
(30:33):
But yeah, he was dominant. I like the fact that
when he shoots three point shots they're flat because that's
how tall he is right right, he's got no mark
because he's seven to five. He's throwing the ball down
from twenty one feet. He actually just reaches over and
drops it in the net. Well he got that, Harry
go it's an easy three. The old plastic man move.
I like it. So we had that tonight and last night,
(30:53):
part of the big drama of the night, the Lakers
break a long losing streak against the Clippers and they
win with Lebron having a big game and all of
a sudden, the hey, Lebron can play less minutes and
we're gonna be fine. That's out the window after one
game was Lebron, you gotta play forty minutes, win this game,
whatever it takes to get this game. Well, that game
(31:14):
last night, though, that mean, look, you're we've lived in
Los Angeles a while. You know how much angst there
was over this losing Clippers. As much as you can
say it's a regular season, it was eleven in a row. Yeah, no,
it was a long time. They had beat him in
a long time. Right, you can say, oh meetings, regular season,
Lakers are back to when they're playing him, you know exactly.
Frostburg kept texting me that Laker guy with the chay
(31:36):
and the greasy looking guy. I kept sending me that
guy repeating. But the Lakers, Yes, their plan for less
minutes lasted one game and it's okay. Now it's out
the window. Lebron, we need you. Uh. But everything is fine.
And not only that, everything is great for the Lakers,
because the reason Lebron is playing more minutes now is
because they're not healthy. Look they played I think when
(31:57):
they played seven guys last night. Look at watching a
series Q game behind plays two guys off the bench,
and that's it. But they're dinged up and once they
get healthy, Gabe Vincent will be back. He's still got
to find a way to assimilate into a role on
the team. Ruey Hachimura will take some of those shots
that Lebron is used to taking. Jared Vanderbilt's got to
find his way around. Austin Reeves has been playing better
(32:21):
since a slow start to the season. The Lakers are
gonna be pretty deep, and once that happens, then Lebron's
gonna be able to take those minutes off. Now, that
might not happen till the midway part of the season,
because you're gonna need some time for the players to
get in rotation and to fait for Darvin Ham to
figure out. Okay, well, maybe this is where Hatchamura comes out.
(32:41):
This is where so and so so. There's gonna be
a little bit of a trial and error period scene
what lineups mix well together. So once you get to
the middle of the season, though, that's when you're gonna see, hey,
Lebron and Ad, we can limit their minutes because these
other guys are gonna suck up a lot of the
scoring and some of the responsibility. The Lakers are deeper
right now than they've been ever been since they won
the title in twenty twenty. That's why I love everything
(33:04):
about them and that things are really good for them
because they will be that deep. It's just these guys
got to get healthy. Then you have to get used
to the team. And then you can say, all right,
Lebron and if you're resting Lebron and AD in the
middle of the year, okay, that's great. That's still fun
and they can be sharp for the playoffs and everything
is great for the Lakers. R Yeah, I mean, we're
two weeks in. They've got an injury list as long
as many NFL teams at the midpoint, and the Hachimura
(33:28):
one is the one that's the most worrisome, right being
sent to specialists after sustaining a concussion. So that one
is all right. You're hoping for some good progress and
updates here soon because the last couple have been very concerning.
But to your point with James and Davis, I think again,
(33:50):
yesterday's game means a little bit more trying to get
you know, it's like pushing the boat off the dock
and get it, getting yourself out there, or maybe you're
going out paddle or whatever analogy you want, getting your
bike moving. It's a lot of effort at first, and
then you get it right, you might have to fall down,
you might stumble a little bit, and the mix and
match doesn't quite work as to how you're doing it.
(34:11):
In this case, it's trying to find and steal some
minutes but not giveaway, knowing that the Western Conference is
going to be tough. Right tonight New Orleans wins a game,
Zion doesn't play back to back night's rest. By the way,
the schedule early on is dopey as well. I know,
you've got to try to maneuver things around other events
and all. But the Clippers had back to back games,
(34:32):
right because last night was the second of a back
to back, they don't play again on Monday. The hell
does that make any sense? Hey, second week of the season,
you got five days off. Good luck. Now, same thing
with the with the Pelicans and these other teams back
to backs already, It's like, what are we doing? But yeah,
you try to navigate the early part of the season,
(34:53):
and you can't fall behind, right because some of these games,
if you give them away early, like, there's not enough
time to reclaim them. We've seen how tight it gets,
say Lebron sustains an injury or decides, you know, operations
shut down with just a nice bag on his leg
because he wants a couple of days of rest. Or
Anthony Davis, I mean, history says at this point the
(35:14):
cracks are there. We've seen the injury games miss due
to injury pile up for both those guys. So presuming
you're getting through the season unscathed, it's just foolhardy. So
you got to stack some wins where you can, knowing
that there will be some lean winter time. See what
I did there, I made it all. Yeah, a low
winter sun coming in. I walked you right into it.
(35:37):
Damn it exit. How about a Fresca Swollendome. The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Harmon live from the tirerack dot
Com Studios coming up next. Pretty sure one team has
found their franchise quarterback, and Mike and I give you
our picks for the game of the week in the NFL.
That's next. This is Fox
