Mike Harmon on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
I know there's a lot going on America. There's big
stuff tonight, like the NBA n Season Tournament. Syracuse football
is playing. We got Eagles and Cowboys to preview, but
nothing bigger than Jason Smith's favorite singer going into the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Oh really, to start the show with, come on it is?
Come on, it's enough. I gotta watch Julius Randall play basketball.
You're gonna hit me with this.

Speaker 4 (00:55):
Let them take another three point shot, go all famer Kate,
And since she didn't show up, I'm gonna do her
award acceptance speech a little later on.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Wait, she went in and didn't show up.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
No, they're saying she's like one of the women from Abba.
She's like a gooraphobic and h travel just like she
didn't show up. No I tried.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
Oh man, I'll tell you look what a fail. We're
live from the ti rack dot com studios. Tirec dot
com will help you get there an unmatched selection, fast
free shipping, free road hazard protection, and over ten thousand
recommended installers. Ti rack dot com The way tire buying
should be. Kate Bush. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The best thing I can say is everybody gets in

(01:40):
pro basketball Hall of Fame. I dare you, it's rock
and roll Hall of Fame. Isn't even the Hall of
very Good. It's like the Hall of whoa you wander
on the radio? Come on, man, that that's the rock
and roll Hall of Fame. Like basically, if you have
a band and you're able to tour for how whatever,
and it doesn't matter radio sales, anything, you'll get in
the and roll Hall of Fame. Everybody. That's not true,

(02:02):
Sure they do. Everybody is in. I think Harry Styles
is already in the rock and roll Hall of Fame.
Olivia I think Olivia Rodrigo is already in the rock
and roll Hall of Fame.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
I mean, Barry White's not in there yet. Oh, come on,
the Wall is not in there. Billy Idol and Black
Flag aren't in there. Blue Oyster cole Well and it
was one song, Come on, clearly DJ.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame fears the reaper
when it comes to Blue Oyster, the Carpenters, cold Play.
I'm looking at it. You really just say Coldplay? Did
you really just say Coplay will get in, Copley should
get your throw toalls?

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Not in.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
The reason there's not in Here's here's the reason they're
not in. Is it every year they need to have
some kind of celebration where they're putting people in that
people have heard of. Okay about out past, you can't
put in. Oh hey, minor Threat is going in. Oh wow,
that's awesome, man, Minor Threat is going in. Yeah, hey,
the meat up It's are going in this year. Hey
that's good. No, you need every year to be able

(03:03):
to have they got a good stable of three or
four bands or singers, and every year they can say, okay,
all right, we're putting these star studied groups in the
in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. How about
Ozzy Osbourne. Everybody got in, everybody gets no. Black sabbats
is in right, black sabbits is But.

Speaker 4 (03:18):
Ozzy as a solo artist has been monstrous.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
He's in the rock and roll, He's in. He's just
not in his assie. He's in, He's in his sabbath.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
What about Shaka Khan and Rufus Chacha Khan Chaka Khan,
Chacha Khan chacka con Pet Shop Boys chach Kan Chaka.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
You're just reading names off the leg What did you do?
Not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame yet?
And I love.

Speaker 5 (03:41):
Artists not in right.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
I love that. It's actually you gave me the Pet
Shop Boy.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
It's it's it's a different it's it's not a Wikipedia,
but it is a list that has the number of
years that they've been snubbed.

Speaker 5 (03:54):
What about the West End girls?

Speaker 1 (03:55):
You gave me the you gave me the Pets?

Speaker 4 (03:57):
They were not nominated just yet.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
We're still Pet Shot Boys and Dusty Springfield. That's that.
That's my favorite Pet Shot Boys song. That's my say
that that should get them in the If that song
doesn't get them in the Hall of Fame, running up
that Hill should not get Kate Bush in the Hall
of Fame.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
Wait, I got one more for you. Go ahead, the
Grand Funk Raill Row.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Oh, these are all Grand Funk railroad songs. Are you
done reading your list yet?

Speaker 6 (04:23):
Nah?

Speaker 4 (04:23):
I could do this all night, are you? Because she's
just thinking of random riffs?

Speaker 1 (04:29):
No? No, no. And I'm fine with it because it
because it allows me to not have to talk about
Julie's randall because you know, that's a really big thing.
Oh my goodness.

Speaker 5 (04:37):
You know what else that allows?

Speaker 1 (04:39):
What?

Speaker 4 (04:39):
What's that?

Speaker 3 (04:40):
We can play running up that hill? Since she went
into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tonight, you're
allowed to play at every bump.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
Back No no, we're not no, no, we're not no
'or not. She didn't go, she didn't go. She didn't go.
If you don't go, don't have to play the song.
That's how it works in spirit. You don't go, you
don't go, you don't play the song.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
You know you didn't go to the Ranger parade to
celebrate Max Sures are in Jacob.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
De gro Well, because they already voted. They're not going
to get any rings because they didn't do anything. I
saw the vote today. Corey Seeger said it. Yeah, they
don't get anything. They paying them a lot of money,
they're not getting a ring. In fact, the rents in
the houses they're renting in the Greater Arlington area are
gonna go way up because they didn't do anything.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
No, housing's pretty cheap there.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
They kind of come through, doesn't matter.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
Sept in a couple of neighborhoods. But yeah, no, it's uh,
it's a big night for Kate Bush and for the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Congratulations to all the
entrance and to uh well to us because we had
a fantastic day in the wonderful world of horse racing
and now we're we're ready to dominate and get ready
for a football Sunday now.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Speaking of horse racing, of course, from the final stretch
to get tickets to horse racing's biggest moment of the year,
the world's best headed to sant and Either for the
Breeders Cup World Championships today tomorrow, November fourth. The countdown
has begun. Get tickets today at Breeders Cup dot com.
Mike and I did a with the Breeders Cup earlier today,
did a podcast. Had a wonderful time looking forward to
seeing how things go tomorrow, and no matter what, it's

(06:05):
got to be better than watching Julius Randall play basketball
for the next.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
There's no question about matter what. We won a couple
of bets before leaving, taught a couple of people how
to bet. Yeah, that might have been a bad idea.
I could probably get sued for that. Just gonna be
a video footage of me showing people how to use
the kiosks.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
To me, it's not illegal. You stealing wallet from that guy,
that was illegal. Like you could not know.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
When dudes standing there with like thirty tickets in him
in his hand, What did you do?

Speaker 1 (06:30):
You took the ticket and you put it under your
hat and you walked away. I mean I was a
good looking hat I was. But today is ay, I know,
try to tamp down your excitement at the first day
of the NBA in season basketball tournament. It is the
excitement level of this is just absolutely through the roof.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
I don't even know what to do. I mean, I
can't contain myself.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
No, I mean, this is this is this is like
having the NCAA Tournament, the first day of the nca tournament,
first day of the NFL playoffs on at the same
time watch.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
Because it's so exciting, really insane looking courts, the one
in Chicago I saw being mocked and bandied about like
it was the Kenny Rodgers Roasters episode of Seinfeld Bad Chicken.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
I mess you up, Jerry. I love the chicken, Jerry, Jerry,
I love the chicken.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
I'm freaking out over there.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
I love the chicken, Jerry. You could tell exactly who
is pushing this, because what happened today was all the
social media barrage from all the teams about Hey, the
end season tournament tonight. Here's the pictures of all the courts.
The league is pushing this so much, and everybody else
is like, dude, I don't care. This is it's a
regular it's we we haven't even do this. If you're

(07:45):
gonna do this tournament, do it in the middle of
the season when the doldrums are here and hey, something
to kind of, you know, pick you up a little bit.
But everybody's still excited about the beginning of the regular season.
Now after five games, we're gonna have the tournament. I'm
really come on, man, I don't know anybody who's excited.
People just have the general level of NBA excitement. They're not.
There's no added excitement like, oh, man, if we win

(08:07):
this first game in pool A, you know, hey, we're
on our way, man, and we can win. I mean,
if you're gonna do it, you gotta do it at
the right time to have it after teams have played
four games.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
We were joking about the scheduling of the Germany game yesterday,
right from a couple of angles. One the why does
London keep getting the Jaguars and Germany gets the Dolphins
and the Chiefs seems a little uneven, But the idea
that suddenly that started being promoted and people remembered, Oh yeah,
I was mad about that when the schedules came out.

(08:39):
Now I'm mad again with this in season tournament thing.
Everybody just reiterated the same question they had when it
was announced. Why and now you've taken it next level
because that's what we do here on the Jason Smith
Show with Mikerow, we taken another level. We're at levels
Why now?

Speaker 1 (08:58):
Well, I don't I don't understand why now, right. I
mean I get that they need to push this. You
gotta do something in the regular season, right, you gotta
do something to make it worth something because players are
sitting out and you can threaten them all you want
about not playing, and here's a fine. You got to
do something. And I understand that, but you gotta make
it pageantry. You gotta make it worth something. You gotta
make it. You can't say, well, the game's count in

(09:20):
the regular standings except for the championship. It's like, what
do you really care about you.

Speaker 4 (09:24):
Made Eventually they're gonna play a couple of these games
in Las Vegas.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Yeah, I mean that'll get you excited. If you're gonna
do it. You have to make it separate from the
regular season, and you can play less games in the
regular season and you're just adding these in, right, so
you still want to play a total of eighty two games.
You can play a seventy five game regular season and
all the teams play a seven game tournament, right, and
have it be completely separate, and you celebrate it, and

(09:49):
you come out and you give them a trophy at
the end, and Adam Silver gets to say, hey, who
will join the the NBA in season champion you know,
New York Knicks or Milwaukee Bucks or San Antonio Spurs
as champions at the end of the season. And you
make it worth something. But to sit here and say
this is an idea that was kind of halfway done. Yeah,
we're gonna do it, but it's gonna count as regular
season games except for the last one. And really, I

(10:11):
don't think the people know. People need to be told
this is what I need to care about, right, I
need this is something new. You got to prove to
me that I should care about this, right. The World
Baseball Classic has tried to do it. People either gonna
accept it or not accept it, right, But at least
they're making you choose. The NBA is yeah, yeah, we're
gonna do it. So it's kind of great. Right, doesn't
everybody love this? No, it's just something that's there. I

(10:35):
don't have any extra excitement for this Knicksbucks game then
I would normally, And I'm excited about this game, not
excited about Julius Randall because, honestly, let me tell you
about him right now, there's a reason why he's the
number one trending topic in sports because he is a
progress stopper. He is an absolute progress stopper for the Knicks.
The guy can't shoot, and his status as the one

(10:55):
a on the team demands that he gets the green
light to take these shots and just kills the Knicks.
He's four out of seventeen tonight. You saw the three
that he took the year. So I'm saying to myself,
what the hell is going on here? Man? We can't
have a night where Julius Randall continues to take bad
shots when he can't make any of them. And that's
exactly what's going on. He is a progress stopper, and

(11:16):
now he's at the point where him being that one A.
Like if he was just a guy on the team,
it wouldn't matter, right if he was the third or
fourth or fifth best player. Hey, it doesn't matter. It's Julius.
Stop taking these shots. Man, We're gonna We're gonna do
something else. But the fact that he has this status
as the Knicks one A, and when you have that status,
this means you wind up getting a complete and total

(11:38):
I don't want to say carte blanche, but you get
to do whatever you want to do offensively. You get
to take a lot of shots. You're having a bad night,
it doesn't matter. You get to do that. And all
that does now is that stops the progress of the Knicks.
As a team. It stops other guys who can make
shots for making them because Julius Randall can't get off
a double team. He can't get his own shot. He
doesn't have anything in the paint other then a bully move.

(12:00):
And I'm gonna try to give you some kind of
step back that's not very accurate because see back to
my first point, he can't shoot anymore. So he is
an absolute progress stopper. And then he's the and as
long as this happens, he's gonna always hold the knicks back.

Speaker 4 (12:14):
Now, well, but here's the hard part that you're going
through is that r. J. Barrett's out with a knee injury.
You have no idea how long that's gonna be. So
Knie soreness ruled out tonight as part of this all
important tournament. And now.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
He got to, hey, we don't want to ruin you
in this tournament. Man, we gotta you know what.

Speaker 4 (12:32):
That was my lower jade journalism sarcasm, circling in there
for the good people. But that man's more shots open up, right,
that's fifteen to twenty shots that are now open, and
Julius Randall is doing his best to take all of them.
He's helped by the fact that Jalen Brunson is saying, great,
I'll carry this.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
Bruns is great because Jalen brunts it is great. He's
got forty three tonight, he's sixteen out of twenty seven.
I watched a sequence just really quick. I watched a
sequence about ten minutes ago where Damian Lillard hoisted up
one of those you know from just inside the logo,
you know, thirty five footers and it doesn't go. And
one of the Bucks players swooped in the under the

(13:15):
basket and got the rebound and kicked it back out
for a jumper. And I watched all the shoulders slump
of every Knicks player, and no one defended the jumper,
and the jumper doesn't go. And who's the one guy
that ran in from behind the arc to go get
that rebound was Jalen Brunson. That's all you need to
know about the Knicks and all you know about him.

(13:36):
Everybody else sat back and said, oh, I can't believe
they got that rebound. Everybody slumped, everybody stopped what they
were doing. He had to run in under the basket
and get the ball. That's what happened. That's Jalen Brunson.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
Well, it's funny whoever that was doing that open there.
I forgot to mention. Kate Bush is here, you guys.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
Kate Bush assembled of the rock and Roll Hall of
just okay, because.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
If the at the end of the Hall of Fame,
if the Pro Football Hall of Fame is the Hall
of very Good, then Kate Bush the rock and Roll
Hall of Fame is now the rock and roll Hall
of Average. I mean, really, she's only in because Stranger
Things featured in a year ago. That's it.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
You got in.

Speaker 5 (14:24):
Why he got in?

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Doesn't get in the Hall of Average. You're a man.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
Even if you become world famous for a butt fumble,
you're still world famous. Does Mark Sanchez get in the
Hall of Fame for butt fumbles? I think they might
have asked for that jersey at some point, is.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
A hey, can we get that jersey that you were
for the butt fumble man? That would be really cool.
I really like to see that.

Speaker 5 (14:46):
And his pants are in the Hall. Sason. You know
we've got.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
Wade Bogg's pants. What were you saying? Justin?

Speaker 3 (14:55):
I'm sorry, I said, Jason, you know what doesn't matter?
What's that your opinion?

Speaker 6 (15:00):
This?

Speaker 4 (15:00):
Wow?

Speaker 5 (15:01):
Wow, he's a Hall of Famer man. You can't ever
take it away.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
Yes, Kate, Kate Bush of rock and roll Hall of Fame.
There you go, sure, sure, rock and hey cock and
print that.

Speaker 4 (15:11):
You see the way he introduced he's embracing it rock and.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Roll Hall of average. There you go there, Oh, rock
and roll Hall of average, Hall of average, Hall of
just okay, all of I'm in because a TV show
used my song. There you go. That's that's what it is.
Oh whoa wait, we forgot about her. Let's put her
in the Hall of Fame because you know, stranger things
use your song and that's a popular show. She should
be a hall of you you're.

Speaker 5 (15:34):
A Mets fan, what would you know about a Hall
of fame.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
We have players in the Hall of Fame. Stop with that.
We got a you know, all this is gonna do
Frostburg because this is just pumping up the Jets to
put more points on you guys on Monday Night. Maybe
it's gonna be like forty eight to ten instead of
thirty seven to ten. Wow, maybe Rogers comes back Monday night,
you know. Maybe. So he just walks out there going, yeah, no,

(15:58):
I'm good. I'm going now, I could throw the ball. Yeah,
I'm good. I'm good. I can do whatever you need.
I'm all good. The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carbon
liveth Thetirack dot Com Studios, diirect dot Com. I'll help
you get there, an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free
road hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tirac
dot Com The way tire buying should be. Well, we're

(16:19):
gonna give you our big pick for tomorrow's Breeders Cup
Classic coming up in a couple of minutes. Mike and
I spent the day out there today doing a podcast.
It was a lot of fun. But there's a couple
of really big baseball stories in the next couple of minutes,
and the first one headlined by Clayton Kershaw, who now
potentially could be back for the Dodgers next summer. He

(16:41):
puts a post out on social media saying, hey, by
the way, hey, everybody, head shoulder surgery and it went
well and I'm expecting hoping to be back sometime next summer.
Thanks for your wishes, We'll see you then. Wait, what
were you talking about? This just oh, by the way,
gets out there today that Clayton Kershaw, thirty, who knows
what he has left, may not pitch again or will

(17:04):
hopefully pitch again next summer after undergoing shoulder surgery. Now,
he did have doctor Neil Latrosh, who was the goat
of surgeon, the one that put Aaron Rodgers'.

Speaker 4 (17:13):
New name on the board.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Yeah, put his achilles back together, right, he's a goat
of of surgeons. But now no Kershaw for the Dodgers
for at least until next summer, and who knows when
he really comes back to pitch. This is just gonna
allow us to double down. We talked about last night
with the Dodgers signing Max Munsey right to that two

(17:35):
year extension for twelve million dollars a year, which was ridiculous,
and the MLBPA has got to be really pissed about that,
especially in wake of Cody Bellinger, who had a season
very similar to Max Munsey, and he opted out of
his twenty five million dollar option just for next year.
So Cody Bellinger is going to get more than twenty
five million dollars a year for multiple years. But Max

(17:56):
Munsey stays a Dodger for two more years at twelve
million dollars each year. Yeah, a great signing by the Dodgers. Again,
MLBPA not gonna be happy with a thirty five and
one hundred guy, say yeah, yeah, twelve million year is fine.
But with the money they're saving, you know they're gonna
go spending big. And we said it last night, yes show,
Hey Otani is the crown jewel of free agency, But

(18:19):
he's the crown jewel because of what he does on
the mound. And you don't know when he's gonna pitch
again and what kind of pitchure he's gonna be when
he does come back. Maybe he starts, maybe he doesn't.
Maybe he's a closer, maybe he's not. But he's not
gonna pitch it all next year and the Dodgers, what
do you need more than anything else starting pitching? The
only guy you're able to count on for next year

(18:40):
was Clayton Kershaw. Everybody else is either not gonna be
on the team or not good enough. You need if
you're the Dodgers, to take that money you were gonna
spend on Otani and go buy three starting pitchers, three
good ones that are gonna eat innings. Whether it's Aaron
Nola or Montgomery, you gotta go get three guys because
you have nobody now. You want to get back to
the playoffs, get that Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman didn't hit.

(19:02):
It happens, but you need some kind of pitching in
the playoffs to get there. And this is the worst
the Dodgers started pitching has been in a situation has
been in in well over a decade. That's what you
have to go fix. Otani is great, it'd be awesome,
but if you really want to win, you got to
go fix the starting pitching and go get them.

Speaker 4 (19:20):
Yeah, it's the curiosity. Right as we start seeing contracts
and options denied, team options, player options, everybody just going, nah,
I'm good. Wade Miley has now declined his player options,
so he's out there. He's got a three two six
ERA in his last what sixty starts or something. So
there's another name you can go after, you know, replace

(19:41):
one crafty thirty seven year old South Paul with another.
How about that? So yeah, I got an equal swap
for you there.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
Yeah, And then go get Rich hillback. He's forty eight
years old, and Dodd he did okay when the dog
Did's go go.

Speaker 4 (19:53):
Get rich Hilly nut Hey, let's get a little crazy,
Let's get nuts.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
No, that's the hard part with this man. Let's eve
it okay getting Blake Snell if you only give him
a one year deal, because he's only good when he's
got a contract. Comings So yeah, I'll give you twenty
five million dollars for one year and I'm gonna get
a great year out of you, Blake Snell. I'm happy
with that. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (20:09):
But here's the biggest problem you're having in trying and
just do the math. It's fuzzy math.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
There's only like ten starting pitchers that you want.

Speaker 4 (20:17):
To walk across the street to go talk to him,
and you're trying to put three of them on the Dodgers.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
You have what everybody else need him too. Yeah, but
don't you want to go there everything being equal, if
everybody's got the money to spend, Dodgers had the money
to spend, they didn't spend it last year. Isn't that
where you want to go?

Speaker 4 (20:33):
Don't you get into the negotiations and when they lowball
you go so tardy Earmark for Otanie.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
So yeah, double down on the Dodgers and Kershaw to
go get starting pitching meanwhile, really quick, this story is
just really crazy. Dusty Baker talked today, did an interview
about why he retired from managing look after this year.
He said he was done. He won the World Series
with the Stros finally, and he did an interview in
a podcast and he said that he retired because of

(21:06):
bloggers and Twitter, because he wasn't happy. He didn't like
the fact that that he would go out and manage
and have to answer questions and and have bloggers and
thirty year old guys asking him questions about his decisions.
And he said, I told my wife, if managing was
just going to the ballpark and doing stuff and not
having to talk to the media before or after the

(21:27):
game or deal with with these questions, he could image
another four or five years. But because of this he
felt the need to retire. And you know what, if
you ever wondered if that's not the right decision, if
you're sitting here and you're Dusty Baker, and you say
the bloggers and and the and the people on Twitter
have have gotten me pushed out, then you're right to retire.
It's straight up. This addresses this is the time to

(21:49):
walk away if you if you really are upset because
of the bloggers and people on Twitter and social media,
then it's time that you have picked the right time
to walk away. And yes, if this gets you upset,
then you should absolutely walk away.

Speaker 4 (22:02):
I see him on the message boards. They're calling for you. Wow,
that's that is one of the greatest admissions of all
time right now.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
I mean it's sad. It's sad that Dusty's saying, oh,
I can't deal with people questioning me on social media. Well,
part of it.

Speaker 4 (22:17):
Was just in general that every day because once upon
a time you didn't have to do these press conferences
every day. No, that to this level right to where
you might have one or two beat riders that you
talk to, or depending on the city, maybe maybe there's
a little cluster. But now you got lights and you know,
camera action after every game. Yes, let's go through the

(22:39):
minutia of game one twenty one, let's do this. Yes,
let's go, let's go, and then by the time you
get to the playoffs, it's magnified. You've already done it.
One hundred and eighty times. I won't do this anymore.
I think that's where Dusty Baker is with the madness
of it all. At this point.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon live from the
tire rac dot Com studios, We're in the final stretch.
You got tickets to horse Racing's biggest moment of the year,
World's Best headed to sant Anita for the Breeders Cup
World Championships today and tomorrow, November three. Mike and I
were out there today. The fourth tomorrow countdown is on.
Get tickets today at breeders Cup dot Com. Had a

(23:17):
great time out there today doing a podcast recorder with
Peter Thomas Fornatal, one of the best analysts the horse racing.
He gave us his picks for the Breeders Cup. Bo
Derek was there, Yeah, looking for Bo. Did not see
Bo Derek.

Speaker 4 (23:29):
Well, we didn't even go too deep into the bougie
areas of stuff. We were also kind of warn that, well,
they might throw us out.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
It is true.

Speaker 4 (23:38):
I blame you.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
Wait wait a minute, no, I didn't mean to get Okay, okay, okay, okay,
they might have thrown us out. Yes, okay, they might.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
We might have gotten in some trouble there. You know,
there was a horse that had met in its name.
Today sot them our got. Richie Davis is very excited.
He goes, I had to bet it.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
It's like, ah, you lost did the news? Did you?
Did you? Did someone try to trade the horse midway
through the race to try to get money back? Is
that what happens? No, he was.

Speaker 4 (24:09):
He was so excited that there was just there was
a horse that had met in the name. He was like,
this is the greatest, Like I don't know how great
that is. It was no nay Mets out of Ireland.
Oh okay, that's how the Brankman family racing.

Speaker 1 (24:26):
I think the translation is don't pick the mets that.
I think that's what that is.

Speaker 5 (24:30):
That's a life lesson.

Speaker 1 (24:34):
But Mike and I going to give you our pick
for tomorrow's Breeders Cup Classic right now, the Big Race.
And thanks to Peter Thomas for natalent. Todd Shrup who
joined us last night on the show to talk about
their thoughts for the for the race, and both of
them really like white a Barrio and and he gave
us a lot of reasons why they like white a barrio.
But you know, maybe it's because of the theme of

(24:55):
the night tonight. But I'm not gonna overthink it, Okay,
I mean I'm not gonna overthink it. A Rabi Night's
the best horse. Yes, starting from the twelve spot is
not great, right, but still three to one. Bobby Baffort's
horses won a lot. I'm not gonna overthink it. I
get that, you know, you're looking for different ways to
go through, and both Todd and Peter said, hey, listen,
this is the best horse, but looking at everything else

(25:17):
going into it, that's why they like a couple of others.
But I'm not gonna overthink it. I mean, I'm gonna
go against I'm gonna go against the advice that we
got from horse racing professionals, and I'm just gonna I'm
gonna take the best horse. I'm gonna take Arabian Night
to win.

Speaker 4 (25:31):
Well, I'm gonna take you all the way through. I'm
going further outside. I'm going to proxy at twelve to one.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
I thought we were gonna go to Clapton. I thought
that was gonna.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
Be your one thought I saw him once. It was Okay, TJ.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
Maybe Clapton will change the world with a win in
the Classic tomorrow, or maybe he'll be wonderful tonight. TJ
uh prox Jett certainly would. Clapton would be the cream
of the crop. He wins.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
Oh wowj Frostburg, you got one. You want to chime in.

Speaker 5 (26:07):
I'm gonna go for the met guy to go last.

Speaker 4 (26:10):
Yeah, he's not in this race. He was in the Juveniles, TJ.

Speaker 1 (26:15):
Before you accuse me of anything, I'm picking Clapton to
win the race tomorrow, all right.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
So I'm gonna take Proxy twelve to one, shot two
million career earnings, Rosario, the rider first or second four
of his six races this year. The horse from Japan.
I think Ushba Tesoro is interesting here. Another four to
one horse, Arabian Night, has to be in the mix.
If you're doing exotics. I'll take Proxy to win, But

(26:41):
then give me those other three, including white Abarrio. As
we start pulling together our trifectas and EXACTA boxes, so
we missed the cut. Well, there's plenty of those. Yeah,
thirty to one, I like it. He dies, TJ.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
Here comes Clapton out of the white room and into
the paddock to get ready to go through DJ.

Speaker 4 (27:09):
Yeah, it took a while, but you finally got there
warmed up. I mean during that podcast, we ran a
lot of lines with Peter and he was game for
it all. I mean, look, I got to start and
here's a teaser for the podcast for everybody interested in
that downloaded Fox Sports Radio wherever he gets podcasts. I mean,
I asked him about jet lag and horses. I mean,

(27:32):
come on, and that's the next level thinking of how
you get to evaluate horse racing with so many international entries.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
Here and DJ Clopton don't lie, he don't lie, he
don't lie. Freiders.

Speaker 4 (27:48):
I was gonna say, I could tell some stories. I mean,
there's some some ties to all that when you get
into the larger horse racing fields.

Speaker 5 (27:56):
And hooves moved so fast that they look like they're
going slow.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
What if Clapton wins? Now suddenly, what if Clapton wins?

Speaker 4 (28:08):
Well, you know what for the show, I'll put a
couple bucks down a clap toy.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
Try to take a look at the big weekend in
the national Football League joining us now I'm a hotline
longtime NFL inside check him out thirty third team. He
is a Hall of very good voter who I also
found out voted to put all these bands in the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He actually voted to
put Kate Bush in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,
which is now just the Rock and Roll A very average.

(28:43):
With Kate Bush's induction, it is Jason Cole, Jake Cole,
what's happening?

Speaker 6 (28:47):
But well before Kate Busher was Casey and the Sunshine
Band as well.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
I'm okay with Casey in the Sunshine Band getting in.

Speaker 6 (28:58):
I'm not wow, wow, okay in the Sunshine Man of
the Drew Pearson of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
Yes, okay, I didn't know you could be anti Casey
in the Sunshine, but apparently you can. All right.

Speaker 6 (29:17):
Then I lived in Miami long enough, okay, So anyway, okay,
dancing on some graves there, okay, that's good, Yeah, okay,
I want.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
To speaking of that, I wanted to say I'm sorry
because I know you were a finalists to replace Josh
mcdaniels's Raiders head coaching and I didn't give it to you,
and I'm very sorry about that everything.

Speaker 6 (29:40):
I think that Mark Davis probably looked back at some
of the things I've written about him and probably said,
bash good not a good look. So yes, I haven't
just as good a chance of being successful in that
job because you're not going to laugh more than two years.
There's just no way, because he's never allowed anybody get

(30:00):
past the third season, So yeah, why not? Why not
make me the head coach?

Speaker 1 (30:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (30:08):
I got to say the decision to make the firings though,
and then shuffle up and deal with all of it.
Seeing as you still owe Gruden some portion of you know,
believe it or not, the eighty million dollars and that's
still going to court.

Speaker 1 (30:22):
That's yeah much, But it's Mark Davis.

Speaker 6 (30:25):
I guess you're really cheering for Gruden to win the
case against the NFL to get out from underneath at
eighty million dollars. Yes, and the in fact you're testifying
on Gruden's behalf if you possibly can, against the NFL
in that one. But yeah, he's on the hook for
eighty million for that. He's got four plus years left

(30:47):
on McDaniel's contract, and you know that that was not
cheap because McDonnell wasn't coming cheap to work there.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
Yeah, but Jack, but I go back to this, everybody says, oh, yeah,
look at the money you got to pay McDaniels. Are
we sure that McDaniels is going to get paid? Are
we sure he's going to see that money.

Speaker 6 (31:06):
It's the he's gonna see that money. The Mark does
not have alf khanez to not pay somebody. Let's just
play it that way.

Speaker 4 (31:19):
He did not.

Speaker 6 (31:20):
He does not have that kind of stone to alienate
his partners that way. There's there's no come on, come on,
They're the pirates of the Caribbean. They're not Al Davis raiders.
I just this is like, this is a Vegas show act,
not intimidation.

Speaker 4 (31:43):
Ye tell me.

Speaker 6 (31:45):
The only thing that they've done is he's you know, look,
give me credit. He's made a boatload of cash going there.
But their brand is dying on the vine right now
because there's always so much of the people, you know,
I'm living in the Bay Area right now, there's still
a lot of raiders you know, finds out there. But
you can't sell the commitment to excellence things anymore, Like

(32:10):
you can't like all that stuff, and all those Raiders
fans who said, oh, we'll fly down to Vegas. They're
not flying for this, okay, And all the people from
La Oh yeah, I'm gonna make the that drive you know,
across you know, ten to the fifteen. Oh, let's go.
We'll make a stop in Barstow at the Wendy's or something.

(32:31):
You know, like they're not doing that. It's just not
not for this crap, not what he's selling out there.
And I mean that's why he's got no home field advantage.
There's the they are everybody else's home field advantage at
this point in time. They're not the Raiders. I mean,

(32:52):
you know, I guess people are going to still buy
the swag because it kind of looks cool, and you know,
the album looks cool, but you know, ice Cube's not
in for this, no way.

Speaker 4 (33:05):
Raiders art shell of your former selves.

Speaker 6 (33:09):
Yeah you are very well, very well played. But yeah,
cub is probably like going, yeah Stafford, guys not so bad.
Maybe Herbert I can go young who knows?

Speaker 1 (33:20):
So so you think it's like when like when when
teenagers now wear like A C D C T shirts
you go and go, oh, what's your favorite ac DC song. Oh,
I don't know, it's just a shirt. I just like
the lightning and the e.

Speaker 6 (33:32):
That's what it is. There, you go, Yeah, it's like
when they wear wear the Nirvana shirts. Now, it's like,
you don't know, come on, you didn't listen to that
stuff because you're you're not dark enough for that. There's
just no way. You just like the Nirvana T shirt
because it sounds cool. That's it.

Speaker 4 (33:53):
Big slate of games, Raiders the home favorite over the Giants,
even with all the parophiles. So that's that's kind of
funny as you flow through it. But a big game
and Germany's are well that's a whole other dumpster fire
for another time. But the game in Germany Kansas City,
we're relying on their defense now, J cole.

Speaker 6 (34:16):
Yes, because you know, we all know that pat Patrick
Mahomes is no longer a good player. He's terrible though, Yeah, yeah,
terrible now. Yeah, there's no way their offense is ever
going to be any good again. Yeah, because there's no way,
there's no way Mahomes will ever get himself out of
this sort of somewhat of a funk, nope, whatever.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
For the rest of the year. Zach Wilson or Patrick Mahomes.
You're picking Zach Wilson, Alex.

Speaker 6 (34:46):
I don't want to say that there's there's not going
to be any Stacy's Moms jokes on this one. Now,
there may be some women in Utah who say they'll
take Zach Wilson every week for the rest of the season.
That's a different time.

Speaker 1 (35:04):
C Smith definitely, all right, so maybe I should have
made it. Okay, you want people who say the possibility
of Aaron Rodgers coming back in Thanksgiving or Patrick Mahomes,
you're taking Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 6 (35:16):
Yeah, okay, let's move moving along.

Speaker 4 (35:18):
Moving along, all right. We got Dallas Philadelphia game. Jason
and I were talking about a little bit earlier.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
Dallas.

Speaker 4 (35:24):
They didn't go into the trade market at all. No
help for Pollard at running back, wide receivers beyond Cede
Lamb or just Philadelphia seven and one's waiting exactly. That's
what they've been and now they have the huge test
with the the Eagles, who have played with their food.

Speaker 6 (35:46):
They have they're not going to this week. The feeling
this is one of those games where Philadelphia, like Jason
Kelsey and all the guys on the offensive line, look
at you know, Sirian and go, yeah, we're taking toll
of this game. Okay, we're just pounding the crap out
of these guys. I mean, I haven't. I feel like
they're going to it's going to be a beat down,

(36:08):
and because they're going to want to put Dallas in
the place, sort of the way the forty nine ers
did in their home game. It's like, you know, here
come the Cowboys. All of a sudden, they're you know,
they're five and two, they're talking a little trash and whatever.
You know, let's just let's just mow them down and
really hurt them. And I think that that's what Philadelphia

(36:29):
is going to do this week. Now, that doesn't mean
that Philadelphia has solved the problems that it has with
the consistency of play. Although Philadelphia is to me fully
is the best team in the league right now. They're
the most physical, they can dominate people and impose their
will when they want to. But they have sort of
played with their food, as you say, you know, the

(36:50):
Washington game was kind of artificially close, and some of
the other ones have been artificially close. But this is
the kind of week where you kind of brandish the
weapons and say, yeah, let's drive these guys into oblivion.
That's what I think is going to happen on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
You want you want to make I'm going to make
you feel really bad right now. That's exactly what I
said fifteen minutes ago, exactly what I know.

Speaker 4 (37:14):
That's why I didn't preface it. Well, Smith believes I
wanted to get the honest opinion.

Speaker 6 (37:19):
Yeah, yeah, exactly. There. You know, this is sort of
like the odds of an infant number infinite number of
monkeys producing Shakespeare. Sort of an infinite number of monkeys
with an infinite number of typewriters will eventually produce Shakespeare. Occasionally,
you and I will agree.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
Isn't that how most of your columns are written? You
just put a bunch of monkeys typewriters day. That's how
you got stuff.

Speaker 6 (37:46):
Dude. I listened to you every Friday. Okay, I know
what this is all about. Okay, this is this is
flinging it from the hip every week. Like the most
prep you ever do is like the back of a
nap from March Deli. That's that's show prep for you. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
that's right.

Speaker 1 (38:07):
That's our show.

Speaker 6 (38:07):
Prep.

Speaker 1 (38:08):
Yeah, no, you're listen. Just be just just take the
l that you obviously know what I said, because you
said you listen Friday and you stole my take and
pass it off as your own right there. It's fine,
it's fine if you want to do that's fine, it's okay.

Speaker 6 (38:23):
Would you think about doing work in politics?

Speaker 4 (38:28):
Well, he is a devoted follower of the West Wing.

Speaker 1 (38:31):
Ge Yeah, yeah, I would. If I could do everything
how Bartlett did it, then that that'd be fine. Then
I would.

Speaker 6 (38:36):
I would have that would be fine. But that was
well done. I have to give you credit for that.
That's good.

Speaker 1 (38:41):
Didn't Bartlett do that in season? It wasn't that celestial navigation.

Speaker 6 (38:45):
When it's been twenty years since I watched that. Okay,
let's stop, okay, come on, move along.

Speaker 1 (38:50):
Yeah, but then I can.

Speaker 6 (38:52):
I'm like, what do you think? Like I'm watching Jefferson's
three Runs or something like that, Like it's wrong, Like, yeah,
that's true, it's not wrong.

Speaker 1 (39:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (39:03):
My wife was like, do we need a new do
you need a new walk up music discussion about Kate
Bush devote. She's a devoted listener because because the Bob
Dylan Whiskey was a big hit for her. Let's just wonderful.

Speaker 1 (39:19):
Okay, you want to walk on you, Hey, we can
do that for you, tight shirt whatever, Casey in the
Sunshine Band song you want, that's gonna be there you go.

Speaker 6 (39:29):
They Patrick, the suck up of all suck ups. Okay,
there you go, Mike, you guys, I'll be right on that.

Speaker 4 (39:43):
That's the way he says it too. That's really yeah,
that is the one, right Alex.

Speaker 1 (39:54):
Cole. Cole's gonna hang of the phone. He's gonna told
his wife. They're gonna and that's the last discussion we
have about my walk up music. You still gonna get
You can see the Sunshine Man down for the rest
of the.

Speaker 6 (40:09):
All right.

Speaker 4 (40:10):
Since Patrick Mahomes is fixable, Josh Allen is truly banged up,
and he's on the Wacky Doctors game. Operation Buffalo's Cincinnati.
Cincinnati is starting to surge. Buffalo's defense too banged up
and too much hero ball from Alan to.

Speaker 6 (40:26):
A. Milano's brutal for them. I mean, Dayton Jones is
a problem too, don't get me wrong, But and Ye
Gavius White and the whole thing. You know, it's been bad.
But Milano is that you know, the engine guy there.
I mean, it's it's a bad deal. When they lose
him right in the middle of that defense, that's a
real big problem for them. So I don't know how.

(40:51):
I don't know how they survived that one. At this
point in time, I really don't know how they survived
and make them play you know, they probably maybe they
can make a make a run to the play off,
but I don't see them, you know, taking advantage and
win a Super Bowl. And now Josh Allen's trying to
do way too much. Like you know, I was hoping

(41:12):
that Buffalo would sort of fix the problems that they've
had for the better part two years when they you know,
they blew the game against Kansas City two years ago
in the playoffs, and then you know that things still
apart last year after DeMar Hamlin. You know that, and
that's to be expected and accepted obviously, But I don't
know that they can handle all these injuries at this

(41:33):
point in time. I just don't think they can overcome that.
So I like the way Cincinnati played against San Francisco.
I mean that was really surgical, stuffy by Burrow and
Chase and the you know, and you know, The play
calling was magnificent in that one, and defensively they did
a really nice job, but getting on top of San
Francisco was really kind of surgical stuff for them.

Speaker 1 (41:57):
He's on Twitter at Jason Cole sixty two, That is
at Jason Coles to where uh, Ja Cole is always buddy,
appreciate it, man.

Speaker 6 (42:07):
This is not this is not just wait to go,
big Patrick, Let let it go.

Speaker 1 (42:12):
Let it watch over. You just let it watch over.
You just listen because Ja Cole
