Speaker 3 (00:49):
So.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
The Bears win. Bears Panthers missfield goal one of the
one of the least entertaining Thursday night games you could
see because it won. Well, sorry, involving two of the
worst teams you could see on a Thursday night. Well,
the schedule ended up punching you in the face. Yeah,
but did you really think when you had Bears Panthers
(01:10):
at this point you were and we're gonna guess I'm good. No, no,
but the Panthers have to be on it, and I
mean they have to be on a Thursday game.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
The Bears have already fulfilled their off the Bears a
special team of Thursday Night.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
But look, you you even went to an outside the
division matchup, which normally is, hey, we're gonna be great
with those, and you went outside for Bears Panthers. Well,
you know, they're not all gonna be winners, but there
are only two hundred and seventy two games that we
get each and every year. Of all those games, this
is one of them. You know, I'm just picturing the
(01:40):
way the the rights go down when when Amazon bid
on them and they were in a room, yeah, and
and and there's the NFL plants people in the room.
So okay, well we could put this game on Thursday.
It's Bears Panthers, And Jeff Bezos goes, well, what as well,
a Bear is really powerful and a Panther, I mean,
(02:00):
the colors are great. He got the first overall pick
in this year's drafts to highlight that, and you know
that that'll spur a lot of conversations for the guys
in the booth about herbie, big college guy. This would
be great. Uh huh, Justin Fields will be there? WHOA
Justin Seve was a top pick? Is he good? Is
(02:21):
he active? I'm Jeff Bezos, you got to Is he good?
Oh yeah, talked about it right? Is he gonna play?
Is he doubtful? Is he gonna playing? This conversation? Is
he doubtful? If we're having it ahead of this game
and they put Eberflus on the line, I think he
would still give that answer to Jeff Bezos as well.
All right, and these teams are gonna be good at
this point the midway through the season. The Bears, Wait,
(02:43):
the Bears and Panthers will be good because I want
good games. No, they're not gonna be good. You want
in the club right the check? Shut up? Why can't
I get a better game? Though? You get nothing? And
like it? I mean, why can't you? I mean I
know that, I know, I know He'll tell me. Monday
Night was Jets Chargers. Look, we have hired fifteen people
to bring the action to America, and it's it's if
(03:05):
we're talking about Thursday night primetime football. I want and
we ten there to be more than three wins between
the two teams. How about we fly in Jason Kelcey
as an added bonus for this week. Okay, okay, wait, wait,
we can't get Travis Kelcey. No, he's going to Argentina
during his bye week to go see Taylor Swift. Yeah,
(03:26):
but I mean we spend a lot of money on
these rights here. No. I mean, look, Taylor Swift is
a billionaire. She doesn't need you anymore. But I have
more money than Taylor Swift. That's okay. So I can't
get Travis Kelcey to come to this game. He's he'd
rather go with with her. There's there's certain parts to
the relationship and the equation where it just doesn't add
up for you, sir, all right, can we get enough
(03:47):
coffee to al Michaels to do this game to be
excited about it? He doesn't eat vegetables or drink coffee.
I gotta take this game. I don't have this game schedule.
I can't get a different game. No, literally, give me
any other game. You could give me any other game,
no flopping out. No, I'll take any other game. This
is what you get any but any any other game
I'm not saying. I'm not saying, oh no, no, No,
(04:09):
I mean, you can give me any other game, I'll
take it. No, this is it number one overall. Pick
and the Bears. The Bears draw every week. I mean,
look at the amount of crap that people from Chicago
and the surrounding suburbs by on your website with a
Bear's logo on it. It is unmatched. I'll take Titans Bucks.
(04:31):
Can I have that one? No? Like, why can't I
have Titans Bucks? Doesn't Tom Brady still play for the Bucks?
No he doesn't. Sorry, he's he's actually trying to become
part owner of the Raiders. I'll even take Falcons Cardinals.
Can you give me Falcons Cardinals? I'll take that on Thursday. No,
just we're gonna say no, just like we don't know
whether be Jon Robinson's gonna play, so we're not gonna
(04:53):
let you let you have that one either. Can't any game?
Give me any other game?
Speaker 3 (04:57):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (04:58):
You got this one? They give me this, you get
what you get. Look, man, we're contractually alligated. We got
to show people the Panthers on Thursday night. At some point.
This just happens to be the best spot I'm sorry
that the bye week created a giant with the Eagles.
There's no best spot for this game. There's no best spot.
You're Jeff Bezos. You can't come back with that. Your
(05:19):
old thing was, you don't know, better tonight? Better tonight?
Bears Panthers or a preview of next week Ravens Bengals.
Who does the voiceover?
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Whoever?
Speaker 1 (05:30):
You want? Ai? John Facenda, Yeah, I'll take a and
and you're talking to a kid from Chicago. I mean,
I celebrate all the disasters of my Chicago teams, except
the Cubs that are over there. But yeah, this that's
a lot of disasters. No, no, no, that's right, that's right,
one hundred lost baseball team. This iteration of the Bears
(05:55):
and eber Flus. But it's given us a great comedy.
It does, and it has allowed us to show are
our comedic timing and improvisational chops time and time again
by the inane actions and words of this franchise. Twitter,
and now about a Fresco Mike hat swollen Dome. The
Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon Live from the tirag
dot com Studios. Hey, where's Allan Williams? Hey? We still
(06:18):
don't know. It doesn't matter, It doesn't matter. That's just
be the first. Someone should just hold the line like
their Q second, say anything. Where's we're gonna be on
college game Day Saturday? Where's Allan Williams? Someone send me
no make that on the big nude kickoff? Uh So,
let me let's discuss this here for a second, because
with the Bears winning, there's been some ground swell discussion
(06:41):
the last few days about Bill Belichick potentially leaving the
New England Patriots, maybe even in a trade, and we
know that the commanders are very interested. We've also reports
that the Bears would be interesting interested in Bill Belichick
because then you have, yeah, a plethora now this draft capital.
This is something that would have been better a few
years ago because I thought the Bears and Belichick would work.
(07:03):
But I gotta ask you this, honestly, as a Bears fan,
if Bill Belichick became available tomorrow, why would you want him?
I'm mean serious, why would you want him? Because two
things one of two things of the truth with Bill Belichick.
Either one boy, he is really tanking it because he
doesn't want the Patriots to win it all and he's
mad at Bob Kraft, which shows wow what a bad
(07:23):
guy is. Or he has lost his fastball. And when
he's in charge of either coaching or buying the groceries
for the team and putting a team together, he cannot
do that. I would say this, as long as he's
not buying the groceries. No, No, I'm not convinced Poles
is any good. But the jury's still out. As long
(07:44):
as Belichick wants to just come in and coach, and
he's willing to go chase down records and do it
from the confines of Hallas Hall, that's fine, because, let's
face it, what you got right now. But he's not
going to work under a GM, not after that, after
this long he's come and work under a GM, not
gonna happen. Well, but it's not gonna adapt or die.
(08:05):
Not gonna happen. You can coach, but you're answering to
a GM. No, he's not gonna have diminish collaboration. He's not.
He's not gonna have diminish power. Well, then he's probably
not gonna be in the end, he's gonna he again,
why would you want to Washington just hired like thirty
seven guys Yeah, that's a lot. Shut up, But really,
why would you want when he has shown in the
(08:26):
last three years that without mega super quarterback Tom Brady,
he can't get the not only Gang get the Patriots, right,
they just get worse every year. They're not even contenders.
Their first year post tom Brady was their best year.
It was all We had Cam Newton for a little bit,
but then we get mac Jones at all. Mac Jones
is Tom Brady, and then it's oh, none of this
(08:46):
is the case, none of this is true. Yeah, I
just don't want Belichick to GM Like, if I'm speaking,
you have to. He's not after doing what he's done
for twenty years. He's not gonna suddenly walk in and go,
who are you Ryan, I'm gonna I gotta answer to
Ryan Pole. No, I'm not doing it. But I don't
know why even if you let him do that, why
would you want him? Clearly again, he has lost his fastball. Yeah,
but the coaching part, and look picking the groceries and
(09:09):
that also includes I guess his staff. Uh So that
that's the bigger fight for me, is that we we've
watched the cavalcade of stars come in in the coaching ranks.
There the only guys that seemed that were any good
or now coaches elsewhere. Hi, Demico Ryans, so you know,
and all the talk about Vrabel and you know when
he got his you know, celebration of his world a
(09:32):
couple of weeks ago, and then they got inspired and
beat the Bills, So that was good. But beyond that, yeah,
I think for me, it's just the anybody but Everfluse
at this point, I'll even take Belichick. Well, but again
I'll take the coach. But obviously there's a lot of
considerations in terms of personnel and those decisions that has
(09:53):
to be made. But you also have all the questions
and the hedge scratching decisions when to punt when he's
going for it when he doesn't, how to build an
offensive team. I have an offensive cour in my offensive coordinator.
I'm not gonna name him in OC and stop gimna
be oh we wanted Matt Patricia to get paid. Bill
Belichie doesn't give a crap about things like that. And
now I'm gonna have my OC be a guy who
(10:14):
was a defensive coordinator. I mean, wro These are all
things that are under Bill Belichick's control. This is not
remember his dog drafted during COVID, Well, well maybe that
was the best draft they had. This is all things
that fall under the banner of Bill Belichick head coach.
I mean, I don't know why you would want him
at this point. I don't know why you would think that, Yes,
he can come in and build my team back up. Yeah,
(10:37):
can't see. And that's where you're losing. Losing. The argument
is that if you're a Bears fan at this point,
you just want to be entertained. And if nothing else,
Belichick with the Chicago media, would be entertaining at least
for a couple of years. You had no delusions of
grander if you're a Bears fan. No, No, Bears fans
(10:59):
are not like you in your Jets world where it's green, green, green,
green green, and life is all good. Uh that you know? Sam, Sam,
Sam Into Zach Zach Zach. Hey, we won tonight, and
I are pissed off. We won tonight. It doesn't matter.
We won, it doesn't matter. We're three and seven. I'm
still pissed off. But why you guys won the game
(11:19):
and everything. No, I'm just mad. But but why you
don't need to because did ca Sell and his condo
in I can't buy it, and we're three and seven
and the new episodes of The Bear aren't coming for
another year. It actually looked pretty good for five ninety five.
I was surprised. It's like a two million dollar condo
here in Los Angeles. But that's a whole other thing.
I don't see how if you had any team has
(11:42):
a chance to say, yes, we can hire Bill Belichick
as head coach, teams would say yeah, like, who's gonna
who's gonna trust him? You can't you're gonna trust him?
Give them the keys to your team at this point, No,
no way, not after the last three years, No way.
I can't do it again. I know, I know, But
also just from an expectations versus coaching legends whatever think
(12:04):
about you mentioned and the condo everything since even the
years Lovey Smith had, they got to a Super Bowl
for trying out loud. People are still mad that Ditka
got fired. But looks later, but so Bill Belichick walks in.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
They'll have a parade on the way in.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
That's how big a deal that would be for Bears
fans because it's been one guy after another one. I
don't like that guy as he coached. He's not even coach.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
I don't like.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
I don't like. But it's not like the choices Eberflus
or Belichick. It's hey, anybody else that may be a
better head cash. It doesn't mat everybody, No, but the
history of Belichick in Chicago. You talk about bring me
your tired arm or legends. Here's sever Here's Ken Griffi
(12:56):
Junor White Sox Hall of Famers, exit out, Mauta Fresca
exit Swollen on The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon
Live the tirec dot Com series. I mean, I'm gonna
buy a hoodie now if you could get I don't
even know if I want Bellichick replacing anybody on the Jets.
I don't know if I even want that right now,
because boy, look at what he's done. Look how bad
it's been for the last three years. Roberts. Oh, man, Hey,
(13:23):
speaking of entertaining, we got some, Maddi Eberflus, Oh yeah,
we do. Maybe we'll find out if Justin Fields is
actually doubtful or out for the game tonight. Who knows,
We'll see. Keep it right here, you know, Maddi Eberflus's

Because you heard it today? So here, yeah, I heard
it today. It is time, all right, well it should be.
We're into November. It's too soon. Okay, No, No, November
(14:52):
is fine. No turkeys have been cut yet. I don't know. No,
remember that one turkey is in all your food? Are
you kidding?
Speaker 3 (14:58):
Man?
Speaker 1 (14:58):
Eventually within the next f fifteen years, and Thanksgiving will
cease to be a holiday. We're gonna write from Halloween
to Christmas. You haven't even stuff to be campie yet. No,
it doesn't matter. We're going right to Christmas, right to
Christmas and and thanks it's almost glogs. It's almost like
it's gonna happen like Christmas is gonna get so big
and it's just going to absorb, Like it's like a
big company that absorbs another company. It's gonna absorb Thanksgiving.
(15:20):
I'm gonna sell it off for parts and it's gonna
be big boats Marks that jerk, Paul Mark. Uh No,
it's gonna be Thanksgiving presented by Christmas. That's what it's
gonna do. It An, that's good. I'm caught up too.
You are caught up. Yeah, I'll tell you that that
merger happened really fast. I got that. Jennifer Anderson got
(15:42):
that done really fast. She's quick. Jason, you didn't get
the email. What email? Christmas was canceled? No, it's not.
There's no way, dude. You can't cancel Christmas. Can't happen.
It was canceled in Modern Family a few years ago.
But I mean they can't. If you cancel Christmas. Oh boy,
it's canceled. Everybody looks forward to that, Like, like, as
bad as things are in the world, we need Christmas.
(16:02):
Gotta have Christmas.
Speaker 5 (16:03):
Jason, hot sake, I think Thanksgiving is more popular than Halloween.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
Wait, Thanksgiving is more popular than Halloween. Yes, popular? How
like like where you get what you mean?
Speaker 5 (16:13):
Every way every incitement, celebration, excitement, people get more time.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
I mean there's no spirit of Thanksgiving show.
Speaker 5 (16:21):
You don't get Halloween off. Thanksgiving you two days off school.
My daughter school got off for Halloween. They get they
get after well, the day after, the day after.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
Yeah, yeah, I know, the day after. They've now made
it a holiday. Because Halloween teachers were coming in sluggish,
doing their things, but but the kids were coming in
after sugar comas and whatever and just saying this is
an unproductive, useless day.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Teachers coming in.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
We gotta get the day off.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
Aoween.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
Guys, you don't have to hang out and be for
USD to hang out with your family. You know that's true.
This is true Thanksgiving. You kind of just picture everybody.
I mean, if you live three thousand miles away, I
mean you gonna do So this was done purpose. I'm
all the teachers Rabbit Elementary, how they're all coming in sluggish?
Uh No, I would say the popularity of Thanksgiving because
(17:10):
of the two days off people. For school, Yeah it is, yeah,
it is. It's a full schools a week Greek. Yeah.
Well I mean growing up, I mean we only got
the two days. Now it's a full week. Yeah now
it is. Yeah, for school because it went from two
days to three because Wednesday was always it. But now
it's like, just take the whole week. What does it matter? Well,
that makes no difference. And mad One still has soccer
practice so there's no travel. Take it off. It's all good.
(17:34):
Uh So yeah, ty should I think I think you're
gonna it's a that's tough one. I'm telling you. Thanksgivings
more popular the spirit of Thanksgivings store pop we get
in some Gordon now. But we are getting a Thanksgiving
horror movie. Now that that's good. And you know, I
always wondered every ever since I saw Grindhouse. I'm like,
Eli Ross should make that Thanksgiving movie. I like seeing
(17:57):
the knife in the turkey and the blood coming out.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Do it.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
And he's like, no, now he's doing that. We got
Onndhouse an adult movie. No, it's not, as far as
you know, it's not. No. I really okay, Thanksgiving and
we got a guy guy, I got a pilgrim. That's good.
He's got all kinds of crazy stuff. That's actually the
sound of the hory?
Speaker 2 (18:20):
Is that?
Speaker 1 (18:21):
Is that what you hear when the guys behind you're
gonna kill you Thanksgiving? You hear that that noise If
you had a choice to watch the Bears and the
Panthers or getting killed by Thanksgiving or just watch the
Thanksgiving instead of hearing you hear the there's a guy
(18:46):
that's gonna kill me by you. It's a bad turkey.
What's happening? Bad chicken? Mess you up?
Speaker 5 (18:52):
Jason, think about it. More people buy suffer Thanksgiving than Halloween.
Thanksgiving is more popular about that. People buy turkeys?
Speaker 1 (18:58):
What else do you buy? He's still people people buy
for Halloween anymore? Everybody buys candy. Do you know how
much leftover candy is being sold now? Ye? Stolen? I
brought candy in for everybody here the other night, and
everybody ate. Everybody did. Nobody's eating anymore. I thought your
(19:18):
candy got Stolensmith. Nobody's eating candy. No, what do you
mean people are eating?
Speaker 5 (19:23):
Kid, Jason. I've been here for a cool amount of time.
This was the now next Halloween that five people brought
in candy. That's a lot of leftover candy.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
I think somebody still bought it. I would choose right,
but I would choose that people are just choosing to
think about everybody here at work and bring It's a family.
I mean, we spend more time with each other and
staring down and mocking each other. We get to do
with our own family. I don't want to sit next
to Harmon, So the more food I bring in, the
more he eats. Let's forget that bull Backsmith never got
the ball back.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
No.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
I thought I'd find that bowl on my on my
lun the next day. No, people just killed poop, stole
the candy and stole my bowl. That's like a John movie. Jason,
Why are you going around because someone stole candy from
my house and didn't return the bowl. It's not quite
going to losing your dog. But okay, but it's what
(20:13):
if Halloween means a big thame? Sometimes? Yeah, sometimes you
just need I mean, you gotta find your motivation, right
you go? I took that personally. They killed my dog.
Two they stole my Halloween bowl of candy from my house,
and now I'm on a rampage. You felt violated? Man, No,
I get that. It's a new Halloween Halloween movie there
(20:35):
there you go, starring David Pumpkins. Who did you say,
David Pumpkins. Who's David Pumpkins character that they had with
Tom Hanks. It's on It sounds like an adult film name. Hey,
David Pumpkins is in this movie? Do you see David
Pumpkins won the I think it's it's actually David A. Pumpkins.
(20:56):
That's even better. David A. Pumpkins star s Pumpkins. David
S Pumpkins. So David Spumpkins. I don't know, Okay, all right,
that's like doctor Frank and Furder, Okay, more or less.
So it's gonna be hard to top Matt Eberflus's press
conference from the day ago where he couldn't even let
anybody know if quarterback Justin Fields was doubtful or out
(21:20):
yeah for tonight's game. And we had a lot of
fun with that. Uh So, let's see what Matt Eberflus,
Bears head coach, had to say following the Bears win
tonight over the Panthers in a Thursday night football game
watched by dozens of I mean watched by millions of people.
It was a thriller watched by millions across the country.
Let's hear from Matt Eberflus.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
See what was up your slave? Use it?
Speaker 2 (21:43):
I don't know what's up yours?
Speaker 1 (21:48):
That was the teaser that so someone asks you to
play up your sleeve? What's up yours?
Speaker 3 (21:58):
What was up your use it?
Speaker 6 (22:00):
I don't know what's up yours.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
Now he's a bleeping copredient. I told you he was
gonna be all smiley and chesty. There he is. Hey,
people like my weird ass press conference a day ago,
I'm gonna really raise the stakes the next day. Double
down man, let's go. Here's what I want you to.
I want you to ask me at the press conference
if I used any plays up my sleeve, because I
got a one line. I'm going right back at you
and sing. That's like it's like the comedian's got a
(22:26):
plant in the audience. That's gonna so now you're gonna
heckle me and then I'm gonna come right back at you,
because that's what's gonna be fun. Okay, great, I mean,
really come at me hard, all right, and tyser you
got that? Okay, very good? All right, So let's hear
from Maddie's up your sleeve the comedy side of Bears
(22:48):
head coach Matt.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
Consideration was given for two and then wouldn't be when they're.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Trying to drive.
Speaker 6 (22:57):
Yeah, you know, we were just one of the stacks
the points up there, you know, really one of the
stack the points up there. It was it's that type
of game, you know, we thought that our defense is
playing really well, and we know it was going to
be a close game at the end.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
My way away stop for one seconds, for one second,
stop for one second. So the question was about when
they scored the touchdown to go up fifteen to ten.
They kicked the extra point to go up sixteen to
ten instead of going for two to go up seventeen ten.
Speaker 6 (23:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
Now, all he's got to do is say, well, at
that point in the game, two field goals, we didn't
want to lose the lead. That's all you have to say.
Stacking points, dude, it's one more point. It's fifteen to sixteen. Yeah,
that sounds stacking points. That's like, that's like putting a's
like it's like when you're playing Chenga and you got
to put the one little thing on the top of
the big tower. You're not stacking points. Not like we
(23:45):
got a touchdown and it were stacking on a touchdown
on top of it. It's you got a touchdown and
then talk about kicking the extra point. Just say, hey,
at that point in the game, it wasn't a one
possession game. The Panthers didn't have to drive down and
go for broke. If it was that point, we would
have gone for it, but instead went up by two fields.
It's an easy answer. We wanted to stack points. Oh,
they got from fifteen to thirty. No, it was fifteen
(24:07):
to sixteen. I mean, your stacking is really a way
to just to hype up your defense. Talk about the
fact that Sweat had the pressures that he did on
Bryce Young all all game long, and that you were
confident that your defense was going to force them to
make multiple drives instead your stacking points. We're stacking points, man,
(24:27):
we're stacking I made Look you were. You were almost
halfway to the average allowed by the Panthers in their
previous road games they gave up thirty six a game
coming into this or stacking points. All right, let's go
back to the press conference, and here's some more from
Matt eberflu Really come at me hard. I'm sorry, wrong one. Wow,
you got that. You cut that up really fast, had too.
(24:49):
He's a talented man. That's really good. Wow, that was
actually Eberflus. That was okay, very nice. I'm a man.
Let's let's come back to Matt Eberflut.
Speaker 6 (24:57):
Our defense is playing really well and we know was
going to be a close game at the end that
time you.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
Pulled the broadcasting had something up your sleeve?
Speaker 3 (25:05):
What were you in just creating? Did you get to
everything that you wanted to get to the second half?
Speaker 6 (25:09):
No, no, we didn't, but we certainly. Uh, you know,
had a good plan coming out there, and uh again
it was a defensive game.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
Uh this this this weekend.
Speaker 6 (25:19):
Uh, I thought the guys did a nice shot, finished
in the game that we were supposed to and uh
we did good.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
Did we sive? What was up your sleeve? Did you
use it? I don't know what's up yours? Yeah? Decision
to throw? Yeah, what was the discussion? Like and couple
players they.
Speaker 6 (25:46):
Were, but no, I mean there's really a decision there.
You have, right, you know, so if you decided to run,
you know, at that time, then you got a punt
and pin and they would have they would have had
a minute ten with no timeouts, you know, and hopefully
on the ten yard line if if we punt it right,
you know, So that was the idea there. We liked
the play call, you know, we like the play call.
(26:07):
We discussed it and we went for it, and we
thought that executed well. Moving made a beautiful catch and
you know, he's one yard past the stick and sealed
the game.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
So really good play call by.
Speaker 6 (26:18):
Luke, excellent execution by the O line of the entire
offense and Moody on the catch and Beijing on the throw.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
Okay, So what he's talking about there is the play
that really pissed me off. At the end of the game.
The Bears have the ball at midfield and they're facing
a third down the I believe, I believe he's incorrect.
I gotta go back and look at this, but I'm
pretty sure the Panthers were out of timeouts with a
buck ten left to go and the Bears facing that
(26:47):
third down call. You think he knows that, I'm telling you, man,
I really think that he's got that incorrect. Where was
It was third down for the Bears, third down and
about seven, and if they ran the ball, they would
punt it deep and I think the Panthers would get
it with about twenty seconds left in the game, all right,
(27:09):
I don't believe they had a timeout left which took
the minute twenty six. Yeah, so Matt Eberflus doesn't know
what was going on in the game at that po
It was third and seven. He doesn't know what twenty six.
So they run the ball and they let's say they
don't get the first down a buck twenty. By the
time the clock goes and starts and punting, you're talking
(27:31):
about twenty seconds left. He didn't know the game situation.
That's what. He did not know the game situation. He's
Matt Eberflus. I mean, but think about that. He did
not know the game situation at that point because right,
third time out, buck twenty six, Right, that was it.
They're not getting the ball with a minute ten because
you don't keep getting time out. You can't take time
out from other games. He did not know the games
(27:52):
of your guys didn't run out of bounds. You were right.
You run the ultimate forming up the middle. If he
doesn't get the first down minute twenty, you're gonna get
They're gonna get the ball pinned deep with about twenty
seconds left and no timeouts to getting a field goal range.
You didn't know. He didn't know. He didn't know. He
didn't know the situation of the game. See, this was
another opportunity to just go back to you. We really
(28:14):
trusted our defense and thought if we dialed up a
good play and if it didn't work, our defense was
going to be able to hold. And the thing is
throwing the football at that point. What that did. This
is why I didn't like the call beginning was that
it's third and seven because with no timeouts left, you
punt the ball away and third and seven, you throw
(28:34):
the ball with a quarterback that is not a great quarterback.
You don't throw to your best receiver. You throw to
a guy that almost traded before the deadline, and you
throw in a double coverage and you get lucky that
Mooney comes down with the catch. You get lucky he
comes down with the catch. It was a stupid decision,
and now it's even stupider. Now it's even stupider. Well,
his logic obviously fails, and his explanation is faulty in
(28:56):
a million levels. But in the end, guy made a
great throw. Was it the right play call? Was it
the right decision as it was happening? Color me intrigued?
Guy like chaos. I like when they don't know down
distance and situation. You know why, because it gives us
more stuff to talk about. And for once in the
eber Flus era, things went his way. Wow, But just
(29:20):
to sit there and say they had a time out,
that didn't have a time out. Jason shocked about this.
I mean, come on, man, I know who you're dealing with.
This is just another line on a Wikipedia page in
sideline that no man, there's other people that know the's
teddy dude. No, they're out of timeouts, no timeouts. Run
the football twenty seconds left. Wow. Wow, that's your head coach,
(29:44):
and I think the Jets skull on my head goods.
Your head coach didn't vote for him? Wow, I didn't
hire him. Wow, that's unbelievable. We should have never come back.
We got I'm stealing straight out of Rocky We should
have never come back coming back twenty two either. That
is really is amazing. Did you say wow? The call
time out? They could a call time out? Wow? Fox
(30:06):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Carmon. We will have more on Matt Eberfluz coming
up because we have to get we have to dive
into this a little bit more. But straight ahead, we
are in for another historic game in college football this weekend,
something we've never seen before in college football history. He's
at Iowa Northwestern. Yes, it's a rematch. That's next. Right
(30:30):
to hear Jason and Mike Fox.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
Did we see what was up your sleeve? Did you
use it?
Speaker 6 (30:35):
I don't know what's up yours.

Mike Harmon, Live from the Tirech Dotcom Studios.
Speaker 6 (30:53):
I don't know what's up yours.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
We have to get more into the Wow. I really,
I'm still the last five minutes I've been talking about
the Matt Eberflusch. Well, you're obsessing with this and you're
forgetting one basic thing. He is who we thought he was.
He all he's doing is confirming everything I've been saying
for two years, and certainly we've had evidence week after week. Hell,
(31:18):
last night he gave you all you needed to know
about his grasp of reality. We'll get to that again
coming up in ten minutes because it makes my head explode.
But we are on the cusp of absolute history once
again in college football. Okay, something we have never seen before,
(31:39):
never seen, and it's something we had never seen before
up until last week. Now we really have never seen
this before. The lowest over under, oh yeah, in the
history of college football remembers a big deal. We talked
about Iowa Northwestern. The over under was thirty one and
(31:59):
a half. Wow. That's really low. Rutgers and Iowa this
week historic lowest over under in the history of the game.
The over under is twenty eight. It's amazing twenty eight.
So if it's just sixteen thirteen, you lose right, twenty
(32:22):
eight points for the over under. Yeah. The oddsmaker currently
at Caesar's, Craig Mucklow, said they went through all their records.
They couldn't find anything lower. So but they found fifteen
one hundred games over the last five years with higher
first half totals. I'm on Syracuse's website. There's a lot
(32:43):
lower everywhere, but like legitimately, it's something we've been talking
about with the NFL quite a bit. Because you had
another underhit tonight. The over under for Bears Panthers was
thirty eight and a half and for the years it's
coming in at sixty two percent. You look at the
slate this week, you have another four games with over
(33:05):
under totals under forty actually five. I found the fifth
and the only game that approaches the upper upper level
of fifty, which is where we get a little bit excitable,
is Detroit and the Chargers is at forty eight and
a half. Everything else is in either mid forties or
(33:25):
barely breaking that forty barrier as we go through into
week ten of this season, part of it being the
fact that we've got ten rookie quarterbacks getting after it.
And let's face it, Iowa, they're on the goodbye campaign
for their offensive coordinator because they didn't meet the incentives
to keep his job. Ie was supposed to score twenty
(33:45):
five a game. Whether you win or not, doesn't matter.
You're not scoring. They are daring you to take the
over in this game, all right, Bookie, they are daring
you to take the over. Well, are you gonna find
Jimmy Hoffel like they did at Wrigley Field when the
dark turf suddenly just collapsed at the goal line and
(34:08):
then Northwestern like a bunch of dopes ran the ball
into the line four straight damn times, when even though
the middle was a quagmire. Well, that's the whole thing
is that Northwestern likes to run the ball in Iowa.
Iowa wants to run like four plays a game. They
don't want to run. They want every play clock we
go all the way down. We do not want to
run plays. We do not want to run plays at all.
(34:29):
They are begging you to take the over twenty eight points.
I'm not falling for it. I'll take the under. So
is kid mcdameric gonna win the Heisman Trophy. I'll tell
you if he was healthy things, we would have actually
scored points in one more game. Hey, kay, did were
you getting the signals or did it happen after you left? KD?
Just just unbelievable anyway. That Yeah, that Northwestern thing was
(34:52):
just kind of funny. I really thought they were gonna
find like random buried treasure. There No neither of these
teams like to run a lot of plays. Iowa doesn't
want to. Yeah. No, I'll still take the under on this.
I'll take a twelve ten game or something like that,
or if taking nine to eight maybe something like that. Yeah,
it is under like Iowa football. You know, we laugh
(35:13):
about Bears Panthers in the NFL Jets and we laugh
at the Jets. Yeah, of course, but certainly watching Iowa football,
that's a chore, man, that is a chore. It's a
fun it's a fun defensive watch watching them fly around
and the secondary and what they're able to do. But
my goodness, on offense, it is it is a slog
(35:35):
I would say, if I thought each of these teams
could score more than one touchdown, I would take the over.
But I'm but I mean, give me the under in
this and not even know if it's gonna be close.
I'm Mayson here anything, Hey, I'm at twenty two points, man,
I'm feeling pretty good. Jayson had a whole field goal
to play with. Usc Oregon's gonna hit that total in
one quarter. That's one quarter or one play in the
(35:58):
by the midway point of the first quarter. Are you kidding?
It's gonna be fourteen fourteen? Still with three minutes ago
here in the first quarter, Caleb Williams two touchdowns. It's
to five hour television windows. So that's good. I feel good.
If you told me twenty five, I would still take
the under. That's pushing it about not wanting to take
(36:21):
the car back to the thirteen ten on. I want
to break this needle off. Let's go exit out bouta
Fresca exit swolling down The Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Carbon coming up next, More big stories
out of the NFL. Wait, do we tell you who
can win MVP this year?
Speaker 2 (36:38):
Plus?
Speaker 1 (36:39):
Yes, more than Matt Eberflus and his curious clock management
at the end of the Bears win. That's next. Right here,
Jason and Mike, you are listening to Fox Sports Radio.
