(00:52):
we get back into the big Michigan scandal.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
The Suns lead the.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Lakers right now, fifty to forty one midway the second quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Lebron is okay.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
He bang kneeds with Kevin Durant that it looked like
he got poked in the eye doesn't matter. Lebron is
still out there, but it's the Suns leading by nine
with six minutes to go in the first half. The
leading scorer tonight for your Phoenix Suns is Bradley Beal,
who already has fifteen. He and KD have done all
(01:25):
the damage tonight. Beal is back playing in just his
second game, six out of seven from the floor.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
And Mike, I know that.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
You know, we talk about KD and what he means,
and obviously you know Booker and all the guy to
get all the pub and I understand, but Bradley Beal
was the big addition for a reason. It was why
people love Phoenix and why I love Phoenix to have
a big season because as long as they stay healthy,
they should be at.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
The top of the Western Conference.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
They started out slow because Beal didn't play, and it's ah,
maybe now you forget that he's the big addition in
Beal's gonna be the guy and he can score a lot,
and he can be that third option. Some nights he's
the second option, and watch out for Phoenix. They can
just outscore so many teams with what they have going
on there, They're gonna be more and more dangerous the
season gets on.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
They're just getting started right now.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
Yeah, I mean as it stands right, you're still navigating
without Devin Booker, and you try to take the positive
of it and with the rotations, players getting some other
meaningful minutes outside of.
Speaker 5 (02:20):
Your big name superstars.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
But for Bradley Beal, yeah, he gives them that cushion
direct because Duranto missed time. Booker's already out. We know
the ebb and flow of an NBA season of guys
that'll take some time off. Yes, they're injured, they're all
banged up. I mean we're watching guys flying all over
the place just in this game alone and looking at
each other going, I don't know how we do this
(02:42):
for forty eight minutes.
Speaker 6 (02:44):
Just.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
Physically like that Lebron James Kevin Durant, like it seemed innocuous,
But how many injuries.
Speaker 5 (02:52):
Have we seen it?
Speaker 4 (02:53):
Like, oh, by the way, something big pops out of
it the next day. In this case, he looks fine,
he's flying around whatever. But it's it's a funny game,
right the NFL, we see all sorts of big, crushing
hits and guys get up and it's like all right,
next next snap, And then there's others like ah, it's
slightly awkward and it's a season ender or something that
puts them on on ir indefinitely.
Speaker 5 (03:14):
So it's odd.
Speaker 4 (03:15):
But for Bradley Beal to be able to jumpstart things
offensively and work his way into the rotation Phoenix is
going to be dangerous. I mean, I end protesting the
fact that we've got no minutes from Bowl Bowl to
this point. Yeah, but they'll just have to bury the
Lakers enough that he can get off the bench in
the fourth.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Can't they just play Wemby right, because it's the same
righty bull ball Wemby though they said same guy, right, Yeah,
just playing that's the same thing, same thing.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
So again, we'll keep you updated on this game.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Suns lead the Lakers right now, fifty two forty four,
five minutes to go in the second quarter. Now the
book the big story we saw at break earlier today.
Jim Harbaugh suspended by the Big Ten for the rest
of the regular season. Tony Petiti, commissioner the Big Ten,
making decision in wake of the sign stealing scandal. He
is pressured by both sides of what happened. The Bee
(04:06):
wants to be okay with the Big Ten. He wants
to be okay with Michigan so he comes in with
some half ass decison. Now, we talked about that part
of it last hour on the show. A little bit
different here. Now we picked the game a few minutes ago,
and both you and I like Michigan to win this game.
And the big question, and I've seen this a lot
this week, is is that Michigan this season and what
(04:28):
they've done is tainted by this scandal. And my initial
thoughts when I heard that was was yeah, and.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
Then I thought, no, you know what, No, it's not.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
This is not the Astros. This is not the Astro
sign stealing scandal, or at least it doesn't give the
appearance of that, because think about the These are the
two biggest sign stealing stories that we've gotten, right, I mean,
Spygate was, you know, almost twenty years ago.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
Now right, we're talking about Spygate.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
This is You're looking at the two biggest cheating scandals
of the last decade, let's say, in sports. With the Astros,
this was, Hey, everybody steals signs, but wow, did the
Astros go above and beyond to cheat to do it?
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Electronically?
Speaker 1 (05:12):
All the reports Altuve had a buzzer, you know, the
world buzz you know, because the banging the trash can
wasn't enough. This was something that was incredibly complex. It
involved the players, and that's the biggest thing was this
wasn't hey, something gets disseminated. No, No, this involved the players.
And when you see the punishment that didn't go down
and Rob Manford decided to make the worst decision he
(05:33):
possibly could. Hey, this scandal became the bedrock of one
of the worst things, one of the worst black eyes
we have seen in sports is the Astro scandal. Right now,
Compare what's going on with Michigan. Okay, they stole signs,
not supposed to write electronically, not supposed to do it,
all right, But now we've seen in the last week, Hey,
wait a minute, other schools potentially are stealing signs. The
(05:56):
Associated Press had in the story that other schools had
been talking about Michigan signs, and the general I would say,
the general acceptance of the story is, oh man, this sucks,
oh my god, But is it really that bad. This
is not one of those defining anytime the Astros do something,
it's they're still cheaters. They're always going to have that
(06:18):
image until all these players retire and coaches leave and
all that kind of stuff. No, it's gonna be a punchline. Hey,
Michigan's probably got the plays. They have this, but there's
been enough. And part of this is Michigan did a
great job and making sure to get out there. Hey,
other schools are doing it to us, and just what
is going on has become just questionable. Overall, there's enough
of that out there where I think the overall.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Opinion of this is, boy, this sucks. Is it really
that big a deal?
Speaker 1 (06:45):
And I see a lot of college football analysts talk
about it that way, and people who are inside and
coaches they all say, hey, listen, it's up to us
to stop them.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
It's not that big a deal. This is not the Astros.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
And more importantly, this doesn't have the impression on us
that the Astros did. Say this taints Michigan. Yeah, I
look back and say when twenty twenty, when they were
a three to four lost team, you know, hey, now
suddenly they turn into a great team. Well, maybe they
should have been catching up to other schools and they
weren't doing what other schools were doing. Maybe they were
getting Michigan signs and that's why they were a three
or four lost team. So I just see this as, yeah,
(07:16):
it's gonna be a punchline. It'll be something that we
joke around and that other schools are always gonna say
this about Michigan. All the rivals say the same thing,
but to taint what Michigan's done. I just haven't seen
that that level of vitriol and hatred that we saw
for the Astros that tainted everything they did. I don't
think that's gonna happen with Michigan.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
Well look, it's I think if you start to get
it into the players and you can corroborate a bunch
of wow.
Speaker 5 (07:44):
How are you guys getting you know, how are we
so dialed in?
Speaker 4 (07:47):
And they pull back the curtain, whether it's our man
with his six hundred page manifesto or whomever, I like, No,
this is how we've been getting it, and this is
how goes. Well, now you've you've included the players, and
you've tainted that getting The argument that some would take
on the larger scale is that well they benefited from it,
so you know all, you know, fruits of the poisonous tree,
(08:10):
et cetera. But from the out like thirty thousand foot view, yeah,
I think most folks go, yeah, everybody's trying to get signals.
It's why we always have guys putting the giant novelty
sized play cards over their mouths as they're talking to
their coordinators upstairs, and all that stuff, and wristbands that
(08:31):
have a million codes on them and whatever else, all
solved by again putting them in the actual headsets.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
I mean, there was a thing. Who was it?
Speaker 4 (08:40):
It was Beilama talking about Pat Fitzgerald telling him they
had a game and they started getting their signals over
the electronics, so they switch channels, et cetera. But you know,
so there are going to be the different problems associated
with all of it. But I think everybody wreck recognizes
(09:00):
that you're trying to gain that advantage. You're trying to
break that code some way, somehow, the advanced scouting of it.
You know, it's the letter versus spirit versus however.
Speaker 5 (09:10):
You want to go to it.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
That A there's a hardball liking issue many people don't, uh,
and we've we've firmly established that from his time in
the NFL, and it is time throughout coaching altogether. But
when when we get down into this part of things
that say, well, they did this. Shouldn't you be changing
(09:32):
your your cadence? Shouldn't you be changing your signals weeks
in advance? Anyway, Right, tapes are getting exchanged, and inadvertently
you're gonna get shots of the sidelines on big plays.
I mean, people can get little bits of information even
from stuff like that. So I find it find it
(09:52):
hard to believe that other than those that see the
vested interest i e. They want the giant check from
the playoff system or a New Year's Day bowl, right,
big six, that everybody else is looking going, all right,
what have we done due diligence?
Speaker 5 (10:09):
Anybody want to fess up to anything.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
We've been doing in the back because we need to
make sure we're checking all those boxes as well. So
I think that's why you don't have the level of
vitriol that perhaps you might engage if it's some other
school or something a little more than Hey, you were
able to figure out when he put his finger to
his nose it was a run play.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
I mean, look, and we may find out, right like
this decision is, we're still investigating. The NCAA is still investigating. Certainly,
the Big ten minutes seemed like they had a lot
of evidence, but could it come out, could we find out, hey,
Jim Harbaugh is the ring leader of this, Yeah we can.
We also find out Jim Harbaugh insulated himself and has
plausible deniability for everything. So there still could be that
(10:55):
depending on But right now where it is, it's not
the Astros and it's not then and seeing this, if
you're Michigan, you're taking a deep breath saying, Okay, we
ran pretty.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Good defense on this.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
After this came out and we put it out there
that other schools might be doing it to us, and
other schools kind of do this, and most of the
other schools, their coaches all kind of said, yeah, we
kind of have to stop them. Yeah, maybe because they
do it to some level themselves. So I really it's
it's you know, just seeing the overall reaction of it
hasn't been what I thought it would be. For Hey,
(11:29):
you know, one hundred and fifteen D one schools all
signed a petition saying Michigan shouldn't play and if Michigan
plays in the postseason, we're not gonna We're gonna forfeit
all the rest of our games.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
I haven't seen that from any of the.
Speaker 4 (11:40):
Other schools yet Mike, Yeah, I like the other thing
that was floated out. Michigan could threaten to leave the
Big ten really quick. I wanted to get this from
the Pete famill Hey see see, hey see see he
quoted the temporary restraining order quote. This is to say
nothing of the irreparable harm suspension will cause Coach Harball personally.
(12:01):
No more dramatic blow could be given to his character
and reputation that the termanent lifetime label of quote unquote
missing in action because of a purported but still unsubstantiated
cheating scandal.
Speaker 5 (12:16):
Well, I like the way you read that.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
That's very good. That's very good.
Speaker 5 (12:19):
No more dramatic blow to his character.

friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
Bradley be able to game high twenty for these Suns.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
At halftime, they lead the Lakers sixty three fifty five.
Lebron James phenomenal first half, dinged up a couple of times,
doesn't matter, still finishes with nineteen fourteen in the second quarter,
but again it's the Sun sixty three fifty five. No,
Devin Booker and the Lakers are going well. You know
that planned to limit Lebron's minutes, so we don't really
(14:32):
need to worry about that now, right, It's still early
enough in the season. We could play him a lot
tonight we have to worry about sitting in the third quarter.
Let's play him all the way. Let's play him all
the way.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
The did you like that little rock a bye move
that Bell made at the end of the half, breaking
the little ankles and then looking straight to Devin Booker
like got us.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
We'll have more on the NBA coming up in a bit. Yes,
the Clippers are zero and three without James Harden. I'm
sure he's going to be saying how horrible things are
in Los Angeles very soon, and it's not going to
work out.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
He's got to get traded someplace else.
Speaker 5 (15:06):
Well, in the background, it's going.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
But right now trying to talk all the latest big
news in the National Football League. Joining us now on
the hotline. Longtime NFL inside to check him out thirty
third team. He is at Pro Football Hall of Very
Good voter with new walk up music. It is Jason Cole.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
Jake Cole. What's happening, Bud?
Speaker 6 (15:31):
Oh you gotta shake, shake shake, baby, you really do. Oh,
this is the groove man. Nothing says Miami like Casey,
South Florida. Baby, take me back to that nightmare. Okay,
what do I mean? Yeah? That lifestyle.
Speaker 8 (15:49):
Sorry, you are right there, Bud.
Speaker 5 (15:52):
Okay, you're doing a whole thing right there.
Speaker 6 (15:54):
I'm feeling it. I'm feeling it again. Ye shake shake shake, yeah, Okay, Yeah,
I'm sure my wife will have that queued up when
a little bit later.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
That dude, I told my wife that and that that
she played that music for you when you came back
in the car from your house last week and she
couldn't stop laughing for like ten minutes, just walking into
the house, going I'm done talking to you and Harmon
and I just want to decompress. And all of a sudden,
I gotta hear a song that I can't stand blaring
out of the loudspeakers as I walk into the house.
Speaker 6 (16:28):
It really was. She has a good sense, she really
does you.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
She kind of has to be. I mean, you know
you can't.
Speaker 6 (16:36):
Yeah, well she listens to this every week. I'm not
sure why, but okay, yeah, okay, extended periods.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
Of brilliance, extended extend.
Speaker 6 (16:49):
So speaking of brilliant Bears Panthers last.
Speaker 5 (16:53):
Night, wasn't it great?
Speaker 6 (16:57):
I don't know, I did. I really actually did not
watch the game. Have to be through. Yeah, we have
friends over for dinner. I was cooking, and you know,
we were trying enjoy company and I take a look
and it was like, well, only not really scoring very
many points, and Bryce Young doesn't look any good. Tyler
(17:18):
Badget like Badget, I don't need no stinking Badget or
you know, like I just don't you know, like that's
just not that's not a peeling. I'm sorry, it's not
We did get to.
Speaker 4 (17:28):
Do deep dives on both coaches and some idiotic decisions
that they've both made.
Speaker 6 (17:33):
The deep deep dives in the two horrible teams, one
that can't protect a quarterback that it's like praying will
not get hurt while it's got terrible offensive linemen, and
the other one is like, God, can't field just get
healthy so we can make a decision. Please? Can he
get healthy? You know, like it's just a bad situation.
Speaker 1 (17:54):
Well, I got to say, the only thing you really
missed last night was the big Vince Evans touchdown pass
that won the game for the Bears.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Side of that, that's it.
Speaker 6 (18:01):
Wow, seventy two year old Vince Evans came off the bench.
Speaker 5 (18:06):
Still he.
Speaker 6 (18:11):
Always wanted to break, you know, George Blanda's record of
playing of being the oldest player in the league. So
Vin s gets his shot good, all right?
Speaker 1 (18:22):
So let me ask you this now, because I know
you've been tweeting a lot about the forty nine ers
the last few days, and Mike and I talked last
hour about this.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
Who's got more pressure on him?
Speaker 1 (18:30):
On Sunday, Brock Purty individually, Brock Party or Zach Wilson individually.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
The game on Sunday party or Wilson.
Speaker 6 (18:38):
Well party, because they're actually supposed to be really good,
right that team, Like he's supposed to lead a team
to a super Bowl. Zack Wilson is not what I mean.
Zack Wilson is a stand in for the guy who's
supposed to have the job. There's no real pressure on
(18:58):
Zack Wilson others.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
To lead the team to get back to that to
Aaron Rodgers for Christmas, that's what he's got to do.
Speaker 6 (19:05):
Stop it with the Jets. Just stop it. It's not
stop it, just let it go. It was there's some
fun stuff to watch, but let it go. It's not
You watched what what happened in that game? You know,
like that was that was painful to watch.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Talking about Tim Boyle on Monday, You wait, Tim Man touchdown.
Speaker 6 (19:24):
You made Frostburg fly all the way across the country
to watch that. You know, like you made him go
through that kind of pain. You knew what that was about,
and you did that. You know, you know that's something
you're supposed to make Patrick do, right, You're supposed to
(19:45):
punch Patrick because he's the low man on the tote malt.
But no, because he's a suck up and goes big
Bike and big Jason. You know, like you guys just
treat him with kid gloves and new all. Frostburg is
working his rear off over there. No, he has to
go watch Zach Wilson and the Jets. That's what you
do to your people.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
That's the kind of okay, okay.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
Why are you so obsessed when Frossburg is off traveling
with the Chargers.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
Why are you so obsessed? Answer the phone? Why are
you so obsessed with how the producer answers?
Speaker 6 (20:18):
The kind of thin skin do you have? That? I
just I have a little joke here. You can't even
go with the joke. You have to explain that fraudt
You know why.
Speaker 5 (20:30):
You've done the joke eleven times.
Speaker 6 (20:32):
It's an elaborate way of you saying, it's not my fault.
It's not my fault. It's not my fault. That's all
you're doing. The guilt gets to you because of the
way that you treat Frostrotsburg, especially compared to Patrick.
Speaker 4 (20:47):
Yeah, he did the advanced scouting of the schedule. The
Charges are home this week though, and the Detroit Lions.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
That's about that one.
Speaker 6 (20:56):
I love that game. I love that there's four games
on the schedule that I really like. You know, it's
Cleveland Baltimore's really really interesting game. Although they might score
only ten points combined. It was the under over on
that game, eighteen and a half way on. God, I'm taking.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
The under Iowa Rutgers less than that game.
Speaker 6 (21:17):
Yeah, there's that game. There's obviously the forty nine ers
in Jacksonville. That's important because forty nurs got to start winning.
I texted, I texted one of my my buddies who's
coach with the forty niners, like will you win an
fing game this week? Or something? You know, like can
you get anything done? He didn't take it.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
Well, well you're.
Speaker 5 (21:39):
Well, wait, you're texting Jim Tom Sulla.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
I didn't know that you had that time.
Speaker 6 (21:43):
Somebody's actually on the team.
Speaker 8 (21:45):
So that's oh okay, all right? Sorry, yeah yeah, yeah
it was Kyle, So, h can you win an game?
So who's got a little upside about that?
Speaker 6 (22:01):
Hey?
Speaker 4 (22:01):
Could the Chargers scoring up in the second half to
beat the Lions?
Speaker 1 (22:06):
Waitit wait, but no, I want to know more about
this text with Kyle. Allegedly Kyle Shanahan, I don't know
you just said, Kyle, it could.
Speaker 6 (22:12):
Be emphasize allegedly. Okay, just and be done with it. Okay,
just do that all right? Oh mister and mister investigative reporter.
Alleged phone call, yeah, or alleged text message. It's alleged.
It's a joke. Okay.
Speaker 5 (22:30):
Well I know throughout the term sources too. I mean
that'll work. I mean that's what we do in our business.
Speaker 6 (22:38):
I text, I texted a forty nine ers source and said,
win an f ing game. Well, yeah, that's it.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
Just if it really was Jim Tom Suley, you gotta
tell us, you have to tell us.
Speaker 6 (22:51):
Sorry, I protect all my sources, so no matter what.
Speaker 3 (22:57):
Good.
Speaker 6 (22:58):
So yeah, Charger charge Lions. Dan Campbell takes on LA.
Does Dan Campbell plant a flag somewhere on Rodeo Drive
if they win? Does that happen?
Speaker 3 (23:16):
Wow? That would be interesting, that would be fun.
Speaker 6 (23:19):
He like every time that Dan Campbell wins a road game,
he should plant Alliance flag in some significant spot in
that city. That's what he should do. Now in LA,
which do you pick? You plant a flag at Santa
Monica Beach? Do you go to Rodeo Drive?
Speaker 1 (23:39):
Now you put it right on top of the Hollywood
signe so you can see the Hollywood and then see
Alliance flag.
Speaker 6 (23:43):
Yeah right, yeah, And it should be the size of
one of those letters. And if he carries us one
of those all the way up that hill, he might
pass out. But that's okay. Yeah, Like that's what he
should do. Every time they win a road game. Dan
Campbell should plant a flag in that city. That's what
I think should have.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
The camera's followed as he's running through the streets like
it's like it's the Olympic torch when a.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
Guy's carrying it. He's just running with the flag.
Speaker 6 (24:10):
So great, Campbell, He's so symbolic. It's just so great.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
He might be the year in the NFL. This year,
him or Demiko Ryans might be the coach of the
Year in the NFL.
Speaker 6 (24:24):
Absolutely, Like I made an argument in a column that
Mike Tomlin, considering how bad they are on offense and
how they've been outscored by thirty points, like he deserves
it too. The only problem is this is a problem
that Mike Tomlin also helps create by having Matt Canada.
So like he's overcoming himself and in this process.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
So well, it's a hero's journey, j Cole, It is
a hero's journey, and he made some bad choices and
now he's trying to get his life right.
Speaker 6 (24:56):
He keeps he keeps running Matt Canada out there and
that terrible offense and the whole George Pickens thing is
really fascinating to me because he's doing his best to
not take on Pickens publicly and he wants to deal
with it privately. Obviously that's what he's doing, but Pickens
(25:18):
and Pickens has a point about the fact that he's
not getting the ball enough, but he's such a terrible
player in every other way, like the fact that he
didn't get his feed inbounds on the TV. You know,
he's a really terrible, super talented player, that's what you know.
This is the conundrum of George Dickens because like Deontay
(25:41):
Johnson scores a touchdown and he like heads back to
the bench without even like going to I five as teammates, right,
guys run past him, you know, and he doesn't even
come close to trying to block anybody, right, Like there's
four different guys on this one run by Najie eris
two weeks ago and he's in the neighborhood, and it
(26:02):
was like he suddenly had an allergy to physical contact,
like it just you know, and it was possibly a
death allergy, like if he touched any other human being,
he might die. That's how pathetic his effort was on blocking.
And then there was earlier in the season, you know,
the season opening it's forty nine ers, when he didn't
run out a deep route when Ticket threw it to him,
(26:22):
and he's complaining about picket when Ticket is trying to
throw it to him and he doesn't run out routes.
I don't know how you deal with tickets because his
logic is so twisted that he's you know, it's like
I'm not working hard for the ball, but I'm going
to complain about not getting the ball, and it just
(26:43):
drives me insane. And I don't know how Tomlin is
not is not trying to, you know, like you know,
throttle him literally.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with Mike carbon Live,
The Tire Rocke Comms Studios, NFL insider.
Speaker 5 (27:02):
Jason Cole with us here on the show.
Speaker 1 (27:03):
All Right, j Cole, So of all your four favorite games, right,
I mean and I mean watching George pickens do whatever
you know outside of things. Of your four favorite games,
your favorite game, give us your pick.
Speaker 6 (27:16):
I think San Francisco goes into Jacksonville and wins that game.
I think that they find a way even with Deebo
still not there. And I don't know if Trent Williams
plays this week, Like when.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
Debo is supposed to be back and Trent Williams is
kind of up in the air, that's kind of what.
Speaker 6 (27:31):
Yeah, but Divo is supposed to be back, but I
don't know how much, like you know, like I didn't
get a sense that I get a sense from people
that they are expecting him play full game. Trent is
the one that they're also really really worried about because
they they got to get him healthy. But somehow, some way,
I think they're going to pull this one out. But Jacksonville,
(27:54):
Jacksonville's pass defense is really bad, with the exception of
one thing. They get a lot of interceptions and that's
a really valuable thing, but they give up a ton
of yards. Like they have a negative per play differential,
and they're much better team than that, Like they should
have a positive differential and should be a much more
(28:15):
pronounced you know, you know, contending team. They are not
right now, but they're living on interceptions, and I always
worry about teams that live on interceptions that eventually the
interceptions start to dry up.
Speaker 4 (28:32):
Jason, go ahead, let me grab one last one before
we get over to Steve de Sega. Here, metal stand Baltimore,
Cincinnati and Philly. Those are three best teams in the
NFL right.
Speaker 6 (28:42):
Now, Baltimore or Cincinnati. You said, yeah, I got Cincinnati.
You know I'm not going not quite there. I'm not
quite there with Cincinnati yet. You know, I still think
there's some Well they're playing much better football, but I
want to see it for more than three or four games.
So if it's Baltimore and Philly, Philly is the better
(29:03):
team because with their defensive linemen up front, they can
create havocs much more, and I think that they're more
consistent offensive line. But Baltimore's like, if ever Baltimore is
going to win a Super Bowl with Lamar Jackson a quarterbacks,
this is the year that they should do it because
their defense is playing it's such an extraordinarily high level.
(29:25):
Now it's not really super talented upfront, but playing playing
really really effective. If ever, there's going to be a
year Baltimore's got to take advantage of it. This year.
Philly is sort of like they're flexing their muscle when
they need to, but they still screw around with games
(29:46):
too much, like the Washington game two weeks ago, and
even the Dallas game, like they should have put Dallas
out of the misery a couple of times in the
fourth quarter, like they took control of the game, but
they just kept letting Dallas back in it and make
Dallas be they actually a chance, and then all of
a sudden, Dallas did have a chance at the end
of the game. And that's where I think I worry
about where the Eagles sort of consistency in state of mind.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
He is Jason Cole.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
He is a pro football insider. He is a Pro
Football Hall of Very Good voter. Check him out on
thirty five Team Bucks.
Speaker 6 (30:20):
I'm a texting I text people like crazy.
Speaker 1 (30:24):
Yes maybe or maybe not texting Kyle Shanahan and he'll
let you know.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
Vince Evans is sixty eight years old. You gave him
four extra years. He is sixty eight years old.
Speaker 6 (30:33):
Vince Evans sixty eight years old. He still would have
broken Bland this record, all right, guys, later Jakle.
Speaker 3 (30:39):
There goes Ja Coles.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
I got to fun visit the Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Carmon. Got more in the Michigan
scandal coming up in about twenty minutes. But straight ahead,
Mike and I we do it every week, give your
upset Special picture of the week in the NFL. Blazing
through that coming up next to Tireck dot Com Studios,
Jason and Mike Fox.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon. Sons and the Lakers, five and a half
to go in the third quarter. Sons lead at seventy
nine to seventy.
Speaker 3 (31:22):
We have more NBA on the way.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
But time for Mike and I to give you your
upset Special picks in the NFL. One in one last week,
ten and six so far this season. Feeling okay. Feeling okay,
really lost a bad one last week though, you know,
you know I picked the Seahawks to win that game
against the Ravens, and.
Speaker 5 (31:40):
Yeah, that's the only counts as one though, Right, yeah,
it's only one.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
It's only one. It's not it doesn't matter how.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
Race everything else. Don't let that erase all the good
you've done. All right, kick us off, Mike, what's your
first best?
Speaker 5 (31:52):
Still gonna give you side.
Speaker 4 (31:53):
I'm gonna take the Chargers plus three at home Detroit
rolling in.
Speaker 5 (31:57):
We joked about Dan Campbell plant flags.
Speaker 4 (32:00):
You know what, they're gonna roll it, put it back
in the carry on and go home. I'm looking at
the Chargers offense. Second half's been been kind of suspect
throughout the last month or so. But you've got Austin
Eckler who's starting to gain a little traction, not only
in the passing game but in the ground on the
ground next to Keenan Allen stats for days, as we
(32:20):
love to call him. Here, need another option to step up,
but I think there's enough in that pass rush to
disrupt Golf. Who's a different guy away from home. Give
me the Chargers plus three, give me the Vikings getting
three and a half over the Saints.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
This.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
Big stop. Yeah, it's take the Seahawks every single week,
you jerk, Seahawks are favored this week.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
I can't take them.
Speaker 1 (32:47):
I believe in Joshua Dobbs, and this is gonna wind
up being a two month audition from to potentially be
the guy next year while they figure out their long
term quarterback situation. He's gonna run for over fifty yards
because nobody else on Minnesota can run the football. This
is a pretty good offense and he's gonna have a
big day. The offense is gonna roll up some points.
(33:09):
There's no there's virtually no tape on him with Minnesota
yet it's gonna be hard to see what they like
to do.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
He's very athletic.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
Watch the Vikings win big and suddenly Josh Dobbs, Josh Dobbs.
Speaker 3 (33:20):
We told you he was.
Speaker 1 (33:21):
Gonna win some people some fantasy championships. He wins a
game for the Vikings on Sunday. I'll take the three
and a half points. I'm not gonna need him, but
I'll take him.
Speaker 4 (33:29):
SAME's playing better football late development right too. Yeah, Michael
Thomas allegedly having to be taken off by police after
throwing bricks at people developing here on a Friday night.
Speaker 5 (33:42):
Yeah, so keep and eye there.
Speaker 4 (33:44):
Remember Olave a couple of weeks ago, was driving seventy
and what a thirty five zone or whatever that was.
So yeah, a little bit of chaos going on there.
It's funny you guys mentioned the Seahawks though, because that's
been the running joke since Monday. But I'm gonna take
Washington on the road plus six, even though they gave
away half of those defensive line and Sam certainly takes
(34:05):
way too many sacks. But Gino Smith is struggling right now,
and Washington thinks still with the component parts they have,
they may make things a little difficult for the run
game of Walker the Third and Charbonna to get going.
DK Metcalf is on the side of a milk carton
and defensively you can get after it. So I'm looking
(34:26):
for Sam Howell. He's got that no conscience that he
keeps going, myriad opportunities and players to work with in.
Speaker 5 (34:33):
The past game. Give me Washington on the road.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
It pains me to say this, so you know, I
really believe it.
Speaker 1 (34:42):
I'll take the Patriots getting three over the Colts overseas. Look,
this is gonna be this would be one of those
low scoring close like usual games overseas, this one in Berlin,
New England's gonna sell out to stop Indianapolis running the football.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
That's what's gonna happen, right, And.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
They're gonna rely on guard Minshew to try to throw
them out of trouble. And this is where the Patriots,
this is where Bill Belichick can still excel in winning.
Speaker 3 (35:06):
Games like this.
Speaker 1 (35:07):
He's gonna force turnovers in a game that's in a
game that's gonna take the under and a game that's
gonna be really low scoring.
Speaker 3 (35:16):
New England finds a way to win this buy a
field goal. This is a.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
Typical Hey, let's make let's stem the tide a little
bit here.
Speaker 3 (35:23):
Let's do enough good to keep everybody at bay for
a week.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
Where still three and seven, the Colts are gonna have
problems when they can't run the football. I can't see
a big day for Taylor and Zach Moss. So give
me the Patriots in this one again. I'll I'll take
the points. I'll take the three, but I'm not gonna
need them because the Patriots are gonna win this game.
Forty three and a half is your total. Yeah, play
(35:47):
on so much going on in this one, right, all
these unders.
Speaker 4 (35:50):
I like now twenty five, twenty four to twenty three points.
Unders are hitting at sixty two for the year, so yeah,
you start to lean in, and it's question of how
much downward pressure gets applied to where you finally hit
the breaking point where it's gone that point too low.
Every week it seems we find a new threshold five games,
(36:10):
including last night's Panthers Bears with a and under forty
points coming in and once again weather's starting to creep in,
so downward pressure once again.
Speaker 5 (36:22):
So there you have it.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
Mike and I are upset special picks for the week
in the NFL exit. How about a fresca It's swollen
dome coming up next. Why the Michigan decision sucks because
it's not why you think it does. This is Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
And hopefully Jason's picks are better than last week.
Speaker 8 (36:39):
Folks,
