The way tire buying.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Should be Well.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
We'll have the latest on Jim Harbaugh and the scandal
and the suspension coming up in a couple of minutes.
But Game of the night in the NBA, Bradley Beal
is back. Had a big night for the Suns, had
twenty four kd was even bigger with thirty eight points.
Speaker 4 (01:06):
Doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
The Lakers come from behind to take control in the
game in the fourth quarter. They beat the Suns one
twenty two to one nineteen. And this is a great
and I want to say great and terrible. It's a
great and a warning night for the Lakers, because the
great part is you look at what they got tonight
in the fourth quarter, come from behind. Right. Lebron was
(01:28):
terrific tonight. He had thirty two, eleven and six. Ad
was eighteen and eleven. But you had a big night
from D'Angelo Russell, a big night from Cam Reddish, Austin
Reeves had fifteen off the bench. You had a big
dunk in a final couple of minutes by Prince that
really helped put the game away.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
He helped game blouses.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Yeah, this is this is what the Lakers can be
when they play to their potential. And I know that
they did a lot of talking the first few games
and look rightfully so about not being healthy and worried
about their rotation. Was new guys all the time, right,
Ruey Hatchamorris said yesterday, it's like we have a trade
every day because there's somebody new coming. Everything was gonna
(02:10):
be fine with the Lakers. It's just gonna be a
little bit more time for them to get settled, get
their guys healthy, because they did make good additions this year,
still waiting for a couple of guys to come back.
Once they are the full Lakers, watch out. This is
a glimpse of what they can be. They're still not whole,
but nights where Cam Reddish, you see how talented the
guy is. The way he played tonight, When D'Angelo Russell
(02:32):
shows up, when they play to their potential, this is
what you get on the road against a pretty good
Suns team. Yes, they're missing Devin Booker, but hey, bial
played well. You got thirty eight from KD.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Right. Like I said, this is.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Who the Lakers can be and this should scare the
rest of the NBA. The flip side is can this
be the Lakers every night? Can they be this consistent?
Because for his career, Cam Reddish has not been this consistent,
D'Angelo Russell has not been consistent. Right, you're hoping that
you can get some kind of consistency from Hatchamora. Right now,
Austin reeves off the bench, maybe that's the right fit
for him. That's the big question is can they be
(03:07):
That's all they need is consistency because they have been
These guys have been up down every other game, this
supporting cast their entire careers, and you need to be
able to take pressure off of Lebron and ad playing
every game, playing all the minutes they do.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
That's the big question.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
That's the only question, because if the Lakers play to
their potential, look out, this is.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
An NBA Finals team.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
But if it's it's like this, we cam Reddish's cam
Reddish's next good game isn't a week and a half?
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Well what does that tell you? So that's the big question.
This is on the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Can you sustain this and be consistent if you can,
look out? If not, it's going to be another year
of Hey they're five hundred, is isch they get in?
Can they make a run at some point? That's where
the Lakers are.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Well, I mean they started three of twelve from three
point range. They've finished nine of nine of their last fifteen.
So you want to talk about streakiness and trying to
even that out. Look, they lost the first half. They're
zero to nine against the number in first halfsning winning games.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
It doesn't matter. But these slow starts, that just.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Means that you're gonna keep tacking on extra minutes to
what Lebron's load is for these games. And now, obviously
this one had a lot of importance. Not only was
another date with these Suns, but it was in the tournament,
so I mean you had to win this. It was
a game because it anament game, it was a league game.
Smoky Yep, no.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Hey, that's the question I would have asked Lebron first
off the court, Lebron, how does it feel to be
two to zero at the NBA in season tournament?
Speaker 4 (04:37):
How does that feel?
Speaker 2 (04:38):
You guys are just cruising right now. It seems like
you really bring your best when it is a tournament game.
Are you inspired by the mutant courts? I mean?
Speaker 4 (04:46):
Is that good for you?
Speaker 2 (04:48):
I mean, do you look at the way it's it's
designed here, like it's a runway for you to take off?
You know, the little strip of paint running down the lane?
Is that like you know, you're a You're a jet
ready ready for takeoff? Do do you think about it?
In t T minus three two, and all of a sudden,
(05:11):
we got some top gun music playing in the backup
beard in I mean, is that how you feel, Lebron?
Speaker 4 (05:18):
Well, all you gotta do. I'm glad you asked.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Look, all you got to do is understand that some
nights are bigger than others, and you have to show
up and and.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
Look, you can't treat every game like you're hanging out
in the museum.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Hey, speaking of museum. Uh, that museum in Akron is
gonna open, coming up soon. It's twenty three dollars to
get in. Maybe I'll send something from this game there,
you know, maybe shoelaces I'll send. Maybe maybe I got
something stuck in the bottom of my shoe, I can
send that there. Don't forget that museum in Acron opens up,
coming up soon, twenty three dollars to get in.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
And remember in in Akron, museum day is Tuesday discounted pricing.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
It's six dollars in Olympic years. That's that's what it
is from my number there.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
But now, but look at that. That's the way it
is for the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
I mean, this is this is who they've always been,
and and this is who these players have always been.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
And it's if you can unlock that, man watch out,
if you can.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
Unlock it, it would be I mean, this team, look
how deep they are with guys that can fill it up.
I mean you're talking about guys off the bench now
that that teams would have in their starting lineup, like
Austin Reeves would start for a bunch of teams. So
what hotcha, Morris? So what Christian would These guys don't
even have Vanderbilt yet. I mean, this is a pretty
deep team and it's designed to be able to take
pressure off of Lebron and Ad and be a better
(06:32):
playoff team and a better team today. These guys are
gonna be fresh when we need them deep in the season,
because that's what you saw with Lebron and Ad last year. Hey,
they got to the Nuggets series and after Game one
they were wiped. I mean they were cooked. It was
the Nuggets were a machine against them. This is exactly
the kind of roster they needed. But that's the big question,
right And I see it.
Speaker 4 (06:51):
For a while.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Hey, great, but I gotta see it right because it's
great to have night like tonight and go, Okay, this
is what they're capable of, this is who they can be.
But you got to show me more than that. I mean,
you can't just sit here and say okay, one night,
they're back. That's what Frostburg likes to do, so I'll
let him do it. But for the Lakers themselves, they
got to do a little bit more.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
All right, last word on this game, Frostburg, What about
the Lakers?
Speaker 3 (07:10):
They're bleeping back?
Speaker 4 (07:15):
Exit out out in print, swallow.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
A dull The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carbon Livethetireck
dot Com Studios. All right, let's get into the Michigan
scandal and the decision today. Due from a different angle here,
Jim Harbaugh is suspended for the rest of the regular season.
Can't coach in any more Big Ten games. This announced
by Big Ten Commissioner Tony Pettiti earlier today. The Wolverines
(07:39):
are in court right now, I would say, or so
they're trying to get some kind of stay or an
appeal that would allow him to coach the team against
Penn State tomorrow. Okay, we have to wait and see
if he runs out of the tunnel during the big
nude kickoff. Whatever happens, it's gonna be a big fight.
We're waiting to see what's gonna happen with Michigan. Maybe
(08:00):
they win and they win the last three games and
it's a big controversy going into Bowl season. But I
read a lot this week about about people who said, oh,
you know, no matter what from Michigan, it's tainted. Whatever
they accomplish is.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
Going to be tainted. It's it's it's never going to
be the same. And I.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Think that on the surface, I can, you can agree
with it, but then just think about a little bit
more and that's not the case. Okay, the Michigan is
not the Astros. Right, you want to talk about the
two biggest cheating scandals the last ten years. The Spygate
was twenty years ago. Now, man, that's a long time ago,
but you talk about the Astros, and the Astros was
a cheating scannal that went above and beyond anything we
(08:41):
had ever seen. It was a system that was next level.
It allegedly involved buzzers with jose Al Tuvan the trash can,
and the players were involved. It was at the player's level.
This is where that level of hatred of everything the
Astros are ever going to do is going to be tainted.
Winning the world it's tainted because you cheated and you
(09:02):
didn't get any kind of punishment, nothing from Rob Manfred,
which was the worst thing you could possibly do and
is gonna define his career and his run as MLB commissioner.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
Michigan's not the Astros.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
This is a sign stealing scandal that no, they should
not have done, and they're gonna You've already already seen
that Harball is getting suspended. But this is not on
the players level. This is something that potentially other schools do.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
You've already seen the reaction from other.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Schools and coaches of yeah, it probably shouldn't have done it,
but you know, we got to stop them. And Michigan's
already put out there that other schools have been talking
to each other about how to decipher Michigan signals. You know,
Purdue and Rutgers, you know, and Ohio State all allegedly talked.
The Associated Press had that story. The overall impact of
this is not the impact of the Astros, and from
(09:51):
all the fans and the insiders and the analysts and
the former players, it all seems to be met with
a not quite a shrug, but hey, no, they shouldn't
do it, and it's not cool, but are other.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
Teams probably doing it?
Speaker 1 (10:05):
Yeah, players not being involved, not being as as sophisticated
as the Astros, all that plays into it. This, the
general feeling out of this story doesn't have the same impact.
So if Michigan goes on and wins, if they win
the national title, yeah, it'll be a punchline and it's
always gonna be a punchline with other schools called Michigan's
got our signals, Michigan's got this. But overall is are
(10:26):
gonna be anything any of these Michigan players ever do. Wherever,
wherever these guys go, it's gonna follow them. It's not
gonna be that impact. It's not gonna taint whatever Michigan does.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Now we're talking about a team that's gonna be represented
frequently during the coming NFL Draft, even at the top
of the board. Right, you finally have that quarterback that
they've been waiting on all these years, and that's finally
harvested into some massive games and tremendous performances. And then
(10:58):
for this, it's the spirit letter of the law and
everybody looking around going, well, what do we do? How
much worse is it than what we do? And again
is that a justification for no? But it's a it's
a reality check of what you've got going on in
college football. If anything else, this becomes perhaps the benchmark
(11:22):
piece by which we finally get away from antiquated giant
you know, foam board signs with signals on them or
color patterns or whatever whatever else you're doing to put signals,
you know, to put the the make the play calls
into your quarterback and onto your defense. Right, here's a
(11:43):
celebrity that everybody likes. It's a funny picture of Adam
Sandler from The water Boy, you know, things of that nature.
All Right, we can get through that and finally actually
upgrade into this century with how we communicate. So I
think that's one of the things that comes out of this.
But as for the the rest, Yeah, no, I don't.
I don't think it's being looked at as the worst thing.
(12:04):
Unless you just hate Jim Harbaugh, then you're gonna go
to your bully pulpit.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Or well apparently they do, because it's now the second
time they've see it. They suspended him and he's yeah,
not even have been proven to have any connection to
this yet. I mean he may, but they don't have
any connection to him yet, and yet he gets suspended.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
But you gotta have a fall guy, right, And and
I think part of adjacent to the to the larger
point is, you know, while we didn't like where this is,
and it seems kind of a hey do something even
if it's wrong kind of approach, with all the the
voices yelling about it, it was a all right, well
play kacha, and Harbaugh has to sit because you'll be
(12:42):
happy with that. Right, that's enough. But by the way,
and the read the fine print, he can still work
with them all week long. So I mean, it's it's
it's a punishment on game day. I guess you don't
have cutaways to Jim Harbaugh and you'll just have to
have stock images when you want to reference him for
those that don't remember, we can't cut a wait to
Jim Harbaugh because he's been suspended. But here's what he
(13:03):
would look like on the sideline in this circumstance. So
we have those kind of situation. But yeah, it was
the you felt it, and I think everybody just kind
of goes all right, they decided they didn't like Harbaugh.
But really, in terms of long standing effects to this,
maybe it changes the game in terms of administration of
(13:24):
play calling and signaling. Beyond that, it's a big shrug
of the shoulders. I think unless you're a Michigan alum
and you're mad as hell and you're not gonna take
it anymore.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Bet bet Bet bet Mike Carbon Bet bet bet exactly.
We'll have more on this scandal coming up next, as
well as the two quarterbacks who individually are playing the
biggest games of their career this week and in the NFL.
Who are they? I'll tell you next. Jason and mikerothtyrech

biggest games.
Speaker 4 (15:15):
Of their career in the NFL on Sunday. Coming up
in a minute.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
But I'm really digging the return of the word bet
bad after the.
Speaker 4 (15:25):
Bet bet bet bet.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
After the announcement of Jim Harbaugh's suspension. We talked about
it a few minutes ago, the Big Ten deciding they're
gonna let him not coach the last three games of
the regular season. He can still coach during the week,
he just can't be on the sideline on the weekend.
This as part of their ongoing investigation into the sign
stealing scandal that we've been talking about.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
For the last few weeks. He's got an injunction planned.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
They've talked to a judge about letting him coach tomorrow
against Penn State in the Game.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Of the Week, So we'll see if he runs out
of the tunnel on the big nude kick.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
Yeah, but right after he got suspended today, all the
Michigan players, to a man, all tweeted out one word bet. Now,
on the surface, that's not a great optic that a
college football players they're all tweeting out the word bet.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
All right, guess I'm taking Michigan. I'm laying the points
they keep telling me.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
To lay in the four and a half. Let's go, what.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
About the over under? By taking the over, what's what's
gonna what's gonna happen? You're gonna put of college kids
writing bet.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
But I dig it because now this is one of
those words that has the same meaning now that kids
use that it did like in the eighties, because my
friends and I used bet, and bet was one of
those words had a couple of different reasons, like when
you say dude, it has so many different like twelve
different reasons you can say dude. But when you said bet,
like bet was always oh you think you think you
(16:56):
got me? Bet meaning watch this or oh, we gonna
win this game. Bet, I guarantee you we're gonna win
this game. So bet had that kind of the connotation
where you'd say, okay, yeah, are you gonna suspend Jim Harbaugh?
Speaker 4 (17:08):
Bet?
Speaker 1 (17:08):
Now you'll see what happens watch this. So I kind
of I kind of dug it because I'm like, oh,
this is the same thing as like when I was
growing up, So I don't need to be the generation
exer who's like, you know, this is what it means.
I'm sorry, we have co opted this phrase, bet, and
we're it means something else. Now it doesn't mean what
you think it means. So, uh, I'm sorry, you can't.
You can't use that this way. No. I feel like, okay, hey,
(17:28):
you know we we originated that, and now it's come
back to it.
Speaker 4 (17:31):
So I kind of.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Dig that everything old is new again. It also translates
to hey, big ten commission blank you.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
Yeah it does.
Speaker 2 (17:42):
Yeah, I mean really, you know it's the old uh
you know, read between the line kind of kind of
scenario here. I like the solidarity, I like the quick response.
I like that a bunch of alums, including Tom Brady,
got in on the bit as well, so it it's
certainly festered. And you know, you've got a very very
(18:03):
large alumni base to rally around this one. So tomorrow
is gonna be fun.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
Yeah, I mean it's what Michigan is still what the
largest living alumni base in the countries, and it's been
that way for like thirty years now, I think.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
Yeah, so think think about the the way that flows.
And obviously I know we're talking about fan bases and
and and everything rolling, but I mean, big, big neon
kickoff tomorrow. I mean, think about the signs that are
gonna be.
Speaker 4 (18:31):
Oh, it's gonna be It's gonna be crazy, Are you kidding?
Speaker 2 (18:34):
I mean extra producers have been hired to monitor what
is on the side.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Yeah, just make sure we don't get any profanity on
to me. I don't want to be on awful announcing
later on in the day and see how did the
producers miss this big.
Speaker 4 (18:46):
Sign that was behind people.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
We can't have us a lot of stuff. I mean
there's obviously members of the cast and crew that that
people are interested to hear their comments on these scandal
uh and where it flows. So it is it is
necessarily Ah, it's musty TV. I mean it always is
on Saturday mornings to get yourself ready for kickoff. But tomorrow,
(19:11):
are you kidding me? And the number of people that
are complaining it's not an evening game. There's there's a
reason for that. Yeah, Yeahzing Television one oh one. Hey,
we're gonna own this spot. Okay, this is what we do.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
You're gonna and Fox is gonna start with this game,
and they're gonna end with USC and Oregon, which is
a huge game.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
You got great, You got great.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
You have four great games from twelve o'clock or nine
o'clock on the West Coast tomorrow, all the way until
till late night. I mean, because there you have all
in all different windows, so forget then you have Georgia
and Old miss It's coming up in the middle of
the day. So no, you got They got it spaced
out pretty good tomorrow. That college football schedule is fantastic.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
Well, it's just like last week's uh NFL schedule. I
heard a lot of people complaining about the overall quality
of games, but it's like each window had at least
one impact or st and alone game. Right at the
Germany game, you had a big Sunday night football game
ended up being a bit of a dun and spots,
but all in all, you know, you at least had
something to tune into. The Philly Dallas game was as
(20:11):
good as it gets for tomorrow, you've got some top
twenty five matchups and those bookends. When you talk about
the USC Oregon game, I don't know what to expect
at this.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
Look you go like this, we think about this tomorrow.
Think about this. Michigan Penn State. I'm going because West
Coast nine am. But think about it at noon, right,
Michigan Penn State kicks off your day? All right, that's
pretty cool. Twelve thirty Utah Washington, huge game. Okay, Utah Washington?
Speaker 4 (20:38):
Great? What do you got?
Speaker 1 (20:39):
Then after that game four o'clock Ole Miss and Georgia
right number two, number nine?
Speaker 2 (20:44):
Wow?
Speaker 1 (20:44):
Okay, and then you're ending the night with USC Oregon
at seven thirty. I mean that's you know what I mean,
that's you just got to just sitting for your television
to go. Just change the channel a couple of times,
and you're good all the way through.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
Man.
Speaker 4 (20:56):
That is I mean, this is how you do the schedule.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
Except for that Iowa Rutgers game.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
Oh, I don't know, man, I kind of I kind
of want to keep track of that just jet garbage.
So yeah, and it's four to three Iowa with the
lead here late in the third quarter.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
To two point conversions.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
Well, we had a couple of safeties and they just
the Iowa decided they'd rather play defense, so they took
the safety and punted it back, thinking that the possible
return of an i n t or fumble was a
more probable outcome.
Speaker 4 (21:31):
Rutgers second safety makes it for nothing.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
They are running up the score right now, and there's
gonna be answers for this one. Caitlyn Clark is coming
into play quarterback for iowand.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
Oh, then I'll take the chess pass to the out
out to this to the wing and uh, there we go.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
You could have that game tomorrow and just have Caitlin
Clark show up and wave at halftime, and it would
be the best part of the game.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
Just wait a minute. It's so she's almost like would
have like the.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
Iowa Taylor Swift effect, Like if she went to a
game in Iowa, would be like, oh my god, Kaylin
Clark is here.
Speaker 4 (22:07):
Oh my god, it's like Taylor Swift in an NFL game.
This this is what it is.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
Oh, maybe she's the next person to visit Al's booth
if she said.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
Clark's saving Iowa football one game at a time.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
Now of this Michigan game. Let's talk with this for
a second.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
Yeah, I know, it's it.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
I know we're talking about a a a three versus
ten game. Michigan's better than they were last year. Penn
State's a little bit better. Michigan's defense's lights out. I mean,
this is this is the best defense I've seen. I mean, look,
Iowa's defense is great, but Michigan just doesn't allow people
to do anything. And Penn State's offense is not great.
(22:48):
If this is a team that had a pretty good
offense that could light it up, or a quarterback that
could do a lot of things, great, But this will
be one of those games where it's close early and
slowly Michigan pulls away and they win this game up
in like a twenty seven to thirteen. It's a big
day for JJ McCarthy because I'm sure Penn State will
sell out to stop the running game and stop Blake Corum.
Speaker 4 (23:07):
I get it.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
McCarthy will make plays. This will be a two touchdown
win by Michigan. Whether Jim Harball is on the sideline
or not.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
I'll take Michigan in this one.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
Yeah, I don't think it matters. I mean, we talked
about it earlier in the show. The fact that the
line didn't move. You eliminated a head coach who has
an undefeated team in the college football playoff rankings. You've
dominated now three straight years. His absence from the sideline
did not move the point sprint. Yeah, I'll take Michigan
(23:38):
in the points coming off of that. All the football
reasons we talked about the draftable players, and Penn State
certainly has their share, don't get me wrong, young quarterback
and guys growing, But Michigan the time is now, and
the unification from the bet tweets and just the Michigan
(23:59):
versus every any kind of approach, I think you could
ride that that emotional wave at least for the next
twenty four hours, whether they get the injunction to go
through the temporary restraining order or not.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
Exit out About a Fresca exit swollen dome coming up
in two minutes. What two quarterbacks are playing the biggest
individual games of their career in the NFL on Sunday,
But first, especially Livery Steve Desager who had eight off
the bench for the Lakers tonight. He now has much
trending in the wide world of sports.
Speaker 6 (24:29):
Yeah, those Lakers actually got to win. Of course, these
are all tournament games. You gotta win pretty much every game.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
You can't right survive in advance.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
Yeah, well that's what Luka doncas said. I mean, it's
he always has her win, but I mean especially especially
in a tournament game.
Speaker 6 (24:45):
At Dallas on a normal court. By the way, Luka
Doncich with forty four points and the easy win over
the Clippers one forty four, one twenty six victories for Utah,
Sacramento and the Lakers, who had a strong fourth quarter
to beat the Suns in Phoenix one twenty two, one
to nineteen. Lakers had been zero to five on the
road this year. For the Suns, Devin Booker was out
with a calf injury. Kevin Durant thirty eight points in
(25:07):
the loss Lebron James. You know they're holding down his
minutes so far this year thirty two points in thirty
six minutes in this game for La. Minnesota won again
six and two record, Boston won again six and two record.
Philadelphia won again seven and one. Seven straight victories for Philly.
In college hoops number twelve, Arizona was a winner at
(25:28):
number two Dukes seventy eight to seventy three. UCLA has
won twenty seven straight home games, long at such streak
in the Land, although the Bruins trailed at halftime at
home to Lafayette tonight before beating him sixty eight to fifty.
Number nine Tennessee a winner at Wisconsin, number fifteen Texas
A and m got a victory at Ohio State BYU
(25:48):
beat number seventeen San Diego State in the NHL. San
Jose had won two whole games in a row, not tonight.
Back in the l column lost five nothing at Vegas
San Jose two and eleven plus an overtime loss. The
Big Ten Conference did suspend Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh
for the final three games of the regular season due
to scouting violations, but the school, saying due process was violated,
(26:13):
has filed for a temporary restraining order. So we'll see
who's on the sidelines when the kicks on Fox TV
tomorrow noon Eastern time. Number three Michigan at Penn State.
By the way, there are two college football games tonight
right now on FS one mid fourth quarter. UNLV trying
to go to eight and two on the season, leading
Wyoming thirty one fourteen. SMU is eight and two now
(26:34):
after a home win over North Texas forty five to
twenty one. Not only does Fox TV at four games
tomorrow capped by USC at number six Oregon tomorrow on
FS one four games as well. Bengals wide receiver t
Higgins will officially miss Sunday's NFL contest against the Texans
with his hamstring injury picked up in practice this week.
(26:55):
Wide receiver Jamar Chase questionable with a bruise back. He
was limited in practice yesterday, and Houston running back Damian
Pierce out again with an ankle injury and Texans wide
receiver Nico Collins out with a calf injury. The Cardinals
officially will start quarterback Kyler Murray against the Falcons. Cardinals
running back James Conner is questionable coming back from a
(27:15):
knee injury, but he's trending in the right direction to play,
according to his team. Arizona running back and Mari de
Mercatto is out again with a toe injury. Falcons wide
receiver Drake London will play after the groin injury, but
Atlanta wide receiver Mac Hollins is out with an ankle injury.
Monday night at Windy Buffalo. The Bills will be hosting Denver.
Wide receiver Stefan Diggs of the Bills was limited in
(27:37):
practice today with a back problem. Buffalo safety Micah Hyde
missed practice again, but Jordan Poyer did return a reminder
the MLB Award schedule gets going for real on Monday,
when we find out the Rookies of the Year and
then Managers of the Year and the next day. By
the way, there was baseball at the met Stadium tonight.
They announced a crowd of twenty five thousand for a
(27:57):
Dominican Winter League game, not exactly Dominican weather under fifty degrees,
but they're starting a three game weekend series at City
Field with the Rivals AUGI loss against T Grace and yeah,
David Ortiz was there catching the first pitch being thrown out.
Of course, Batting practice was taken in ski caps and hoodies,
but former Mets gold Glove outfielder Juan Legaris, playing for
(28:20):
one of the side's augilas that won three to nothing,
AP says that only about half of that twenty five
thousand crowd was there at first pitch, but with tickets
price starting at about fifty bucks, The advanced sale for tomorrow
in New York is over thirty thousand. Jose Offerman and
also Tony Painier helping manage one side, you know in
(28:41):
that park. The Mets will have their home opener late
March against Milwaukee and Craig Council will not be managing
either team.
Speaker 4 (28:49):
Back to you as of now, now you never know.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
I think we know.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
Forty million dollars. I think we know he's with the cup.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
Thank you, Steve.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Jason smithser with Mike Carmon live from the tiraq dot
Com Studios. Two quarterbacks this weekend that are playing the
biggest individual games of their career, Brock Purty Zach Wilson.
Speaker 4 (29:12):
The stakes for them are different.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
The forty nine ers take on the Jaguars, and if
Brock Purty is below average again, that changes the view
of him and potentially his future as a starting quarterback
for San Francisco.
Speaker 4 (29:30):
Right a month ago, he was the MVP.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
But now it's wait a minute, There's almost been a
whole season of tape on him, and the Niners offense
is not what it was. They are really struggling. If
he has a bad game and they lose their fourth
straight in a game in which they're basically almost healthy.
Deebo Samuel's back, maybe Trent Williams. But it's gonna be
(29:53):
the first Bosa Chase game. This should be a game
San Francisco dominates, and if they don't win the that's
gonna change things for the forty nine ers and brock Purty.
It's gonna become Maybe brock Purty's not the guy. We
have to get by with him this year and then
address the quarterback situation of the offseason.
Speaker 4 (30:10):
Maybe it's Kirk Cousins, maybe it's somebody else.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
But this is the biggest individual game they played the
nc NFC title game, which is a big deal for
the whole team, but individually for his future, that's the
biggest game he's ever played.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Yeah, we're talking about a guy who we put him
in the microwave. Right. We had the Warriors that ah,
they're changing the game.
Speaker 4 (30:28):
This is great.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
It's like eighteen months later, you suck, you changed the game,
and now with brock Purty it's the same thing. He
goes from being mister irrelevant. So it's a fun story.
All the injuries, he ends up becoming the guy and
then has this incredible run and flanked by a lot
of great teammates, it rolls, and right now there's been
(30:50):
in a difficult spot and obviously you lose Trent Williams
running length of time, and every team goes through injuries
in deebo, I don't know how healthy he has been
at any point this year because he's only had one
or two real impact games, at least from a statistical standpoint.
So yeah, Brock Purdy, the microscope is certainly on, and
coming out of a bye week where there was just
(31:13):
a lot swirling about him, and let's face it, a
lot more statistical pulls on Kyle Shanahan and situational football
and failures in different circumstances. You know, he's one in
thirty one, this way, one in thirty nine, that, all
of those kind of things. So you know he's his coach.
Also has a lot on the line here against pretty
(31:35):
good Jacksonville team on the road.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
Now, for Zach Wilson, it's different because he could see
the end of his starting.
Speaker 4 (31:41):
Time coming at halftime of this game against the Raiders.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
You saw the way his standing, his public standing on
the team. There seems to be some kind of question,
right Robert Sala wouldn't talk about it, wouldn't talk about
why you would bench him, and he says, a fair question,
but I'm gonna plead the fifth on it.
Speaker 4 (32:00):
You know something is going on.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
As much as they're committed to Zach Wilson, they know
after last week, something's got to change. And if he
has a bad first half and it's a six to
three game at halftime, Tim Boyle's coming into the second
half and it's a new Mike White situation because they
can't go in and try to win a game again
with trying to get by. You had a team coming
(32:21):
off coming off there bye last week at home on
a Monday night against the twenty eighth rank pass defense
in the NFL, and they couldn't do anything and they
put up six points.
Speaker 4 (32:31):
So as much as they.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
Say zachsaguy, Zach's the guy, it's just like with Mike White.
If they are not going to struggle and they'll be
able to keep the Raiders down because you can do
what you do every week. You do what you just
did to Justin Herbert, You're gonna do it to Aidan O'Connell.
So at halftime of the game, if they're really struggling,
and Zach Wilson's not seeing open receivers and he's holding
onto the ball too long.
Speaker 4 (32:50):
It's going to be the end of Zach Wilson.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
And it's going to be how many weeks do we
have to just piece together a quarterback until Aaron Rodgers
comes back at Christmas. So this is the biggest start
of Zach Wilson square because he could lose his job
for good and all kinds of standing with the Jets
if he has even a bad first half of this game.
Speaker 2 (33:07):
Yeah. I think what's curious here is does he fumble
away this opportunity like Aaron Rodgers did half that giant
bottle at Tequila?
Speaker 1 (33:15):
Oh wow, Okay that was over under in that game
Sunday Night Football thirty six.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
Yeah they take the under.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Yeah, I don't know how much they go to Boyle
or to Trevor Simeon. Look, the expectations are low. What
it does expose is that Hacket is good for nothing.
So Aaron Rodgers, congratulations on getting him another paycheck for
another year.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
Berty and Wilson biggest starts of their career coming up next.
We got to play the Night and Mike and I
give you our upset Special picks for this week in
the NFL.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
Keep it right here, Jason and Mike. This is Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (34:01):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 4 (34:16):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with my bas
friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 2 (34:23):
Yeah it's not wrong.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
I from thee Tirac dot Com Studios got the play
the Night come in your way in a couple of minutes,
a special double play the Night.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
But first, Mike and.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
I got to give you your upset special picks in
the NFL this week. Hopefully I don't have a pick
last week, like when I picked the Seahawks.
Speaker 4 (34:46):
To redemn change song, didn't quite happen that way.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
So let's kick things off and the first upset special
im and it's still one in one. Last week was
only one loss, only one loss. I'm eleven and seven
so far this year. Everything I'm not good. No, the
Seahawks are favored Seahawks. Not, that'll be the Vikings and
three and a half over the Saints. Yes, the Saints
are playing well. Derek Carr is playing well. But I
(35:13):
believe in Joshua Dobbs and he's gonna be a big
difference maker the last half of the season for the Vikings.
You saw I Need did last week with no practice.
This will be a big day for him. He'll run
for at least fifty yards and that will spark the
ground attack for the Vikings a little bit. No Justin
Jefferson still, but it doesn't matter. He still has weapons
(35:33):
to get the football too. It'll be a big day
for him. They roll up points. I'll take the three
and a half, but I'm not gonna need him. Give
me the Vikings getting three.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
And a half nice. I'm gonna actually go to that
Seattle game. I'm gonna take the other side. I'm gonna
take the Washington Commanders and Sam Howell to wing it
all over the place and make some plays. Yeah. I
might concern that they sold off the half of the
defensive line for parts, damn right, I am. But and
Gino Smith Gino we talked about him a lot earlier
(36:04):
this week. You had to listen to the whole show.
Grab the podcast wherever you download your audio. Give it
five stars. Jason and I will love you forever. Maybe
a walk to you know, coast to coast with hugs
and sandwiches for everybody. I think they get after Gino
Smith and they're able to still disrupt things. Keep that
turnover streak alive and I'll definitely take them plus the six.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
I will go to Germany for my next upset special.
Give me the Patriots getting three over the Colts. This
is gonna be one of those low scoring close games
like usually get overseas right, not a lot of offense.
Speaker 4 (36:41):
This is how it goes.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
This is a typical game that New England wins. This
stops the bleeding for a little bit. They're gonna sell
out to stop the run and force Gardner Minshew to
beat them. It'll be a difficult game for Jonathan Taylor
and Zach Moss. They will force a couple of turnovers.
It's a game the Patriots find a way to win
by a field goal. I like the under. I think
(37:03):
the turnovers are gonna be it for the Colts. Give
me the Patriots sixteen thirteen.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
Look at you. I am gonna stay here in the
City of Angels as the Detroit Lions descend upon Sofi
Stadium forty eight and a half. Your total, Detroit A
three point favorite over the home Chargers. Give me the
home dog to rise up. Keenan Allen stats for days,
(37:29):
Austin Eckler starting to find his way a bit. We're
still looking for those other options to step up, but defensively,
get that pass rush going against Jared Goff, who we
know is a much different guy away from the friendly
confines of Detroit. Never thought I'd say that the friendly
confines of Detroit where you vacation. Give me the Chargers.
(37:50):
It's now time for the surge. Time for Justin Herbert
to be that guy. And if he fails, I will
excoriate him on Monday night and I'll kill you. Thought
comes all away from and look it is marked the
most urgent.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
Now that escalated really quickly, no more than just I'll
kill you. I'll just I'll just kill you.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
I made a big, bold prediction. Well, I mean, look
what it does. There's are upset special picks for.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
The week in the NFL, and maybe Frostburg kills a
guy on Monday.
Speaker 4 (38:26):
We gotta see.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
I don't know, you'll tune in. We're live stream it
live from the studios at Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (38:33):
Oh hey, hell, that's true. Hey, Frostburg is gonna kill Harmon.
We got to figure that out, ty Shirt. You'll be
the co host then on Monday.
Speaker 4 (38:40):
Is that? Okay?
Speaker 2 (38:40):
I'm down with that, all right? Very Denver Buffalo and
the murder of Harmon.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
Yes, what's what's the nickname of the Denver team?
Speaker 2 (38:48):
There's been a murder?
Speaker 4 (38:50):
What's the name of the Denver team, ty Shirt?
Speaker 3 (38:52):
The Denver team? You're talking about the Nuggets?
Speaker 4 (38:55):
Yes, the Nuggets? Yeah, Denver Nuggets.
Speaker 3 (38:57):
Right, what about them? No?
Speaker 4 (38:58):
No, no, fine, just make it sure, making sure you know
the team. That's good. They have Giannis now they do
they do? They got young.
Speaker 6 (39:03):
You're gonna win.
Speaker 4 (39:04):
Yeah, I know, right.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
Decided he liked Denver and he stayed there.
Speaker 3 (39:08):
I'm gonna go on a limb. Hear Jason take the
points for them?
Speaker 4 (39:11):
Okay, very good, all right, very thank you, specially there
you go.
Speaker 1 (39:14):
All right, so say there you go. If Frostburg kills Harmon,
I think we're in good shake.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (39:18):

A special double play of the night.
Speaker 1 (39:35):
The first play of the night comes to us courtesy
of a guy who is now zero and three for
his new team.
Speaker 4 (39:41):
Let's take a listen.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
The Mavericks took care of business in the first half of.
Speaker 3 (39:44):
This game and talk about extending grba's time. That is
exactly what the second half was.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
The Mavericks score one hundred forty four points.
Speaker 1 (39:57):
I believe it was a forty to nine run at
one point from the Mavericks, and the Clippers are now
zero to three since getting James.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
Harden Hard the after game.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
How lui he asked for a trade? Hell you think
he's asked for a trade from the club right now?
Speaker 2 (40:12):
No, no, no, we got a little time left. The
best quote coming out of this game, though, was Paul
George talking about how he needs to be a quote
unquote glue guy.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
So now, the second play of the night comes to
us courtesy of cam cam cam cam cam, cam, came
cam cam rack dam cam cam cam cam cam cam cam. Uh,
somebody who had a big night for the biggest win
of the night in the NBA, We've.
Speaker 4 (40:41):
In to drawing We've just shipped in there a moment ago.
Now it's Reddish, Yes, sir Cam from the corner. It's
a one point.
Speaker 1 (40:50):
Game, five threes for Cam Reddish tonight thought come from
behind to win this over the Suns.
Speaker 4 (40:57):
And I'm telling you, I know. The question is Ken
be consistent.
Speaker 1 (41:01):
That's the only thing for the Lakers, because tonight this
shows you who they can be, what they can do
when all they're when they're firing on all cylinders and
they're playing to their potential.
Speaker 4 (41:09):
Scary for the NBA. But can they keep it up?
That's a big thing.
Speaker 2 (41:13):
And Lebron calling out all the naysayers saying, I always
make the right basketball play.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
Exit out about a Fresco swollen dome. Coming up next,
it's burn and Bernie Fratto.
Speaker 4 (41:27):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Seahawks.
Speaker 3 (41:30):
Yo, I bet my tongue
