Speaker 1 (00:52):
Well, we'll get back into the college football playoff coming
up in twenty minutes, but right now, the next few
minutes is gonna be about money, because a couple of
guys are either getting paid or about to get paid.
Let's go large amount of money. The first one is this,
and I really can't believe this because you talk about
(01:12):
someone who has just gotten a three year, one hundred
million dollar contract.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
It's not.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Three that you're underpaying him for three even just as
a hitter.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
You're on he can't pitch three?
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Does he have an incentive based contract?
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Is that just a guarantee for every strike I throw,
I get a million dollars? Uh, three years and one
hundred million dollars.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
It's not Pete Alonzo. It's not one Soto, John Stamos,
it's not it's not John Stamos. He might he must
have sold a lot of books, T shirt.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
You think John Stamos made a hundred million. He probably
made a million dollars in John Stamos deal. Yeah, I
mean he played.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
I don't think they had the same deal like Friends
and those guys where they were making a million an episode.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
No enough, but this is like twenty years of royalty reruns.
It's a long time.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
It's well, I'd like to see see the contract. I'm
sure he's done. Well. I mean, I'm not gonna disc.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
On Stamos net worth net worth Okay, John Stamos net worth?
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Oh yeah, you're right. Uh, he's worth twenty five million. Well,
but obviously that's all estimates if invested. Well, I mean,
because if nothing else, I know he's got a bunch
of Elvis memorabilia that's worth it. I feel like Tyson's
do with the Billy Madison.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
I'm crossing him off my list of people to go
get money from.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
He's only worth that much.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
I'm done.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
He was really he was one of my heroes. He's
dropped out of the top ten.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
That's my last John Stamos reference. But his wife's in
jail three years.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Well x x wyfe, I think ex wife. No, no, no, no,
Laurie Laughlin is not in shit.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
It's only on she's okay's it was only on TV
and it was just no, no, no, she's.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Not mean.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
No no, well yeah, but no, well marriage wasn't it
was a TV marriage. It was, you know, so when
you first said that, I'm like, Rebecca Romanez.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
No she's not.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
Oh, uncle Jesse and aunt Laurie.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Yes, I know uncle yeah, no, no, no, she was.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
I don't think it was actually you know what, nevermind
uh three a half, three years and one hundred million
dollar contract to stay with his current organization, Rebecca guy Fieri,
we'll stay with Food Network. Wow, three years and one
(03:33):
hundred million dollar contract.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
They get this variety.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
That's what I said when I said that to pant
for him. Food Network has that kind of mine. I mean,
I know Food Network is, you know, is in the
you know, at the upper tier of of programming, and
he provides so much, whether it's Diners, Drive Ins and
Dives or it's Triple G, the game show, the Tournament
of Champions, which has got to be a big deal.
(03:58):
But I'm like, they have that much money that they say, yes,
we're gonna give guy, we can give guy for you,
Hay thirty three million dollars.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
What kind of money must.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Food Network make every you can give him thirty three
This is like the Royal signing a guy to thirty.
I know you're an MLB team, but you can't pay
anybody thirty three million dollars a year. You can't pay
Bobby with Junior thirty three million dollars.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
Let's just hope they get more than five snaps out
of them.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Oh, come on, come on.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
I was really surprised. I didn't know they had that
kind of money. I didn't know they did that kind
of money.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Joint venture between Warner Brothers Discovery they own sixty nine
percent and next Our Media owns the other thirty one percent.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
Yeah, they're trillionaires, Mike.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
No, no, Yeah, we're talking like lots of commas and
zeros mixed in here.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
So and I'm reading this real quick, Jason. It's not
just one hundred million. It says one hundred million plus.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Yeah. No, Look, I when you start thinking about all
of the the money that is pumped into food product,
right and and advertising and man, how much was the
other white meat campaign all those years ago? A lot
of money? All right, So you get into this and
trying to win your section of the the frozen food
(05:15):
aisle and and all the way through. Yeah, it's it
makes sense, all right. I can get on board that.
By the way, Uh, Frostburg, you know, tell Glazer we
we need an audience with him in Vegas. Uh. And
we need to be invited to his party.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
Wait, we're going to Vegas.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
If we're not, something's really colossally wrong, dude.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
I said the Lions were going to the super Bowl.
When the Lions go to the Super Bowl, I go
there for my victory lap. They're gonna carry me around
Vegas on a on.
Speaker 5 (05:40):
A chair, he said at the beginning. He said it
the preseason.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
He's our hero.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
Hey, it's Gabe.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Nicely done that they're gonna carry me down that street,
like look at this, this is our guy's gonna look at
Macy's Day parade.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
I've already got a whole outfit, you know, being put together.
Come on, we gotta go going to Vegas.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
Man, So guy fe already gets paid, but now for
him really is gonna get paid?
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Is Mark Cuban.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
You've heard Kevin Wyatt talking about this story throughout the
night tonight. The Addelson family, very famous Las Vegas family
that owns, you know, own a ton of casino interest,
including the Sands. According to reports an SEC filing. Now
this hasn't been reports, it's the SEC filing having this
(06:34):
associated Press did some digging on this.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Is that the Addlson family.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
And you've heard about Shelley Addlson, the late Shelley Addison,
who's a guy that helped bring and broker the Vegas
Raiders deal to come from.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Oakland to Vegas.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
Well, Miriam Addelson, widow of Sheldon Addelson, has filed to
sell two billion dollars in stock in the Sands Corporation
in order to buy the Dallas Mavericks. The agree it's
gonna be in the valuation range of three and a
half billion dollars, gonna take a few weeks for the
league to process it, and in a really weird twist,
(07:07):
Mark Cuban would remain the governor of the franchise and
in control of all basketball decision So he's still gonna
own the team without really owning. He's gonna get all
this money, and the adult sins are still gonna say yes,
but you run the team right now. It's very weird
And the two weirdest things about this story. Number one
is why is he doing this?
Speaker 2 (07:28):
Like we have not.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
Heard from Mark Cuban at all this story is out.
Mark Cuban is not afraid of a microphone. He's not
afraid of a phone call from reporters. He's not Why
have we not Why have we not heard from Mark
Cuban about this? Like this would be something that once
this gets out, Okay, here's what's going on. But I
think it's really weird that we're not hearing from him
on this that wait, I'm selling the team and I'm
(07:50):
gonna get three and a half I'm gonna get a
few billion dollars, but I'm still gonna run the day
to day operations. Wait, this is really weird. Why has
he not said anything, because everybody he's just jumping to
the conclusion that, well, Mark Cuban, he's selling what's happened.
Something's wrong, something's wrong with the franchise, something this Why
is he doing this? He is getting pushed, that's a
and we have heard nothing from him. It's a big
(08:10):
shocker to me that we've not heard from him since
the story broke earlier today.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Yeah, so something I found a little bit earlier new,
he scrugs. He's out there in Dallas Fort Worth. He's
had a tweet where he said, Cuban confirmed to me
mads are not relocating on the Sands Corporation. Cuban quote,
They're coming into upgrade, hopefully build a new arena, hopefully
(08:38):
be a Venetian like resort, so arena slash area in Dallas,
that's the goal, and that he would still run basketball ops.
You know, My curiosity is, all, right, does that become
private money or is it still part of the Sands
because that's a very important distinction, right because if it's
her money and she's a private individual, the book stay sealed.
(09:01):
Whatever if it becomes part of a public company, as
in the Sands owning that part of the Mavericks, then
all of a sudden we'll be privy to everything going
on in that organization. I don't know that the NBA
necessarily wants that. I think you want that to be.
I think you want that to be private money coming
in over the top to work with Mark Cuban as
(09:21):
opposed to the corporate side. So that's I think an
important distinction here that will have to be made as
this deal gets underway. For Cuban. It's also been an
interesting twenty four hours Jason, because you know, we went
back and forth a little bit yesterday and he said
he was leaving Shark Tank too.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Yeah, I mean, like like the like he's leaving Shark Tank.
He selling, but he's gonna run the team. Like what's happening.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Well, there's some that it's that, that's exactly it. Justin uh,
you know that he's been pretty outspoken about the economy,
about a lot of things politically the last few years,
and maybe he's got you know, the caterpillar eyebrow raised
for looking at that arena. I'm running for president. Mark
Cuban's gonna run for president. Why not, Mark Cubans.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
I gotta sell all this so I can run for president.
But I'm still gonna run the Mavericks at the same time. Sure,
I mean, really.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
He's gonna run for He's gonna run for president, but
I'm running the day to day operation. Well for now, really,
I've doing that. I mean, if he won, then he would,
you know, not not do that.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
But Mark, Mark, what about the uh? What about the economy?
What are you gonna do to jump start the economy? Hey, listen,
the first thing I'm gonna do, I'm gonna figure out
Luca's got to get a big contract coming up here.
As soon as I figure out Luca, then I can
worry about the economy. Okay, then we'll get to that.
But let me worry about Luca first. It's a really
big thing.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Yeah, it's it's all curiosity and speculation here, right, That's
all Scrugs had on his report there. And we haven't
heard from Cuban directly. But you talk about a guy
who what was it, two hundred and eighty five million
was the number that was thrown out as to what
he paid for them, and now he's walking away with
I don't know almost ten times that in twenty five years.
(11:06):
Not a bad chunk of change for a guy who
used to go home to an empty house and play
nerve basketball by himself. Pretty good deal. What do you got, Frostburg?
Speaker 4 (11:15):
So could we possibly see the Mavericks maybe be that
team that moves to Las Vegas?
Speaker 2 (11:22):
Oh? He said, he said, that's not that's not the
But he's no longer flogging right, he's just basketball operations now.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
When I said we're not moving, I said that when
I still really made the.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
Decision, wasn't on camera, and.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
That wasn't on getting. Now this is a couple of
days later. Now, guess what, The Mavericks are being moved
to Las Vegas.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
No, I mean it is rumored that Vegas is getting
a team.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
Sure, yeah, yeah. And then Adam Silver was quoted as
talking about a couple of maybe a couple more Canadian
teams along the way here.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
Because that's what we need.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
Now. We tried that, I'm saying, I'm not saying that
it makes sense.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
We tried already. We tried that. We tried that, and
they had two teams.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
And now the man I went and I put on
my biggest journalism jay that I could right there reading
from an interview Adam Silver did talking about Canada as
an option.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
You country, that's Jersey and shove it.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
If anybody has one of those, please let me know.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
At you Jason, explain the millennials who he is? Please no,
I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Yeah, because you know what, honestly, the other most shocking
part of this today, because you know, this is a
big story and when you see it in the news,
not just in a sports story, they always give the
particulars people.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
They always give their age.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
And if you said to me before today, how old
is Mark Cuban, I would say, oh, you know, late
fifties probably.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
You know he owned the team when he was young. Okay,
he's sixty five.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Yeah, Mark Cuban is sixty five. I'm like, I would
have never said sixty five. I would have said eight fifties,
you know, when he's on the team for a while,
about twenty years. Yeah, bought the team he was young, Yaho,
he made all that money.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
He's sixty five. Yeah. It's another one of those things
that you know, Yahoo screwed up along the way. Could
have could have made me an island owner early if
we'd actually implemented broad broadcast dot com before you know,
all of the software was outdated. So wait, are you
saying Mark Cuban stole all your money? Is that what
(13:28):
you're no? No, no, not saying that. No, I'm saying
Yahoo gave him a lot of money headline Fox Sport Now.
No no, no, Mark Cuban stole all my money? No, no, no, no.
What I'm saying is Mark Cuban sold that that right
you wanted to listen to Indiana Games. He sold that
(13:50):
software and that program to Yahoo, and then it took
forever to actually try to implement it. By that, it
was a lot of outdated work.
Speaker 6 (13:59):
I'll just picture Harmon like TMZ catches you like tomorrow
like guitar son of a Costco and you're wearing that
jaunty hat.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
You're going I had all his money and Cuban didn't.
Speaker 6 (14:09):
Invest right, should have all his cow.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Right, But it wasn't him. No, they paid him out,
and then we didn't implement what he what we bought
from him for a couple of years, like come on,
first movie, move for advantage here, let's go look at me.
I'm at Costco. Buy a chicken. I'm buying Rotestrie chicken
at Costco, I buy them a chef making it for
(14:33):
me at my house at night. I buy the lost
leading Chicken because I am.
Speaker 6 (14:39):
Fox Sports radio host. Cuban's a thief.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
That's not what I said at all, but it's funny
as hell. That sounded like twittering out about a Fresco.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
You're an idiot, ball and Dome all the Mike Harmon,
who you know a.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Test that Mark Cuban stole his money. That's not true,
Mad Chicken, mess you up tonight, Joe brought to my
Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes bundling easy and affordable.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
Get a multi policy discount by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat,
ATV and more. All you're protecting in one place. Bundle
and save at Progressive dot com. Like maybe Harmon makes
he beat me bum rushes shark tank to yell at Cuban, Hey,
where's my money?
Speaker 2 (15:29):
Cube? He comes walking out and they play like the
uh burn it down? I steal seth Rawlin's music and
I got strutted out to secure security grabs you pull
you off. Where's my money, Cuban? Where's my money? You
shut up? Where's my what? Am I stewy from family. Guy,
you got money from all these fake mustaches and stuff?
(15:51):
Where's my money? Hurt? My side's hurt from just thinking
about where's my money? Man? You've been ducking me. Man.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
We'll have more on this developing story. I don't mean
I don't mean Cuban selling the Mavericks. I mean Harmon,
you know, being at war with Cuban over money that
he owes them.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
But coming up.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
Next, we have the biggest takeaway of the college football
playoff Paul.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
That came out tonight.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Keeper right here direc dot Com Studios Jason and Mike Fox.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon live from the tire rack dot Com Studios.
Sorry Jason Smith and Mike Harmon. Who Mark Cuban screwed
out of a lot of money?
Speaker 4 (17:41):
I love this Christmas song.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
By the way, he wouldn't be wouldn't be here with
me right now, Joe Hiley Festive.
Speaker 5 (17:47):
No, he didn't screw it up. People running the show did.
Who was running Yahoo?
Speaker 2 (17:53):
There was a lot of a lot of lot of
you know, fingers in the pot. Okay, but just let
it'll be in my book, just like a coach, right.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
Jim Harbaugh had to wear the suspension for the sign
stealing scandal. You you said Mark Cuban took money out
of your pocket.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
I didn't say that.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
Yeah, that's what you heard, your exact words, what you said.
You went into this like all I did was say, hey,
you know Yahoo, he was young when he ran Yeah,
and you know, all I wanted to say was like
that who I couldn't believe.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
I couldn't believe he was sixty five.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
That's all I said was I thought, you know, Yahoo,
the money he bought the team, and you decided to say,
you know, the reason we didn't make more money at
y'all was so you obviously have an axe.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
To grind with Mark Cuban. It's not with Mark Cuban,
it's with the people that bought his company and then
it kind of sat on a shelf. They didn't prioritize it, okay,
and then had to spend a lot of engineering resources
to start building what they did. Look, we did a
great job with a lot of that. I'm very proud
(18:53):
of the work I did there. You know, the Yahoo
Sports platform, we were there at the infancy of it.
It's a beautiful thing. I just saying a couple of
bad decisions. There are some others that that are really
well known about. You know, companies that might be search
engines that they low balled them instead of buying giving
them a fair price and got told to pound sand Uh.
(19:14):
You know all these things. We can go into internet
more about a few other things. But the reality is,
you know, Mark Cubans, Now this is really a curious thing.
Is he gonna run for president? I don't know, but
but he's gonna run the Mavericks though. Yeah, he's keeping
he's selling the Mavericks and the Addilson family is gonna
(19:35):
buy whatever how much money of the Mavericks are gonna
do whatever? Majority Yeah whatever.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
They I'm sorry, I know we're we're in a very
different society now. Or that you can't be a president
and run No, no, no, no, no, he'd step aside
if they won. I mean, come on, that's that's fine.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
I'm gonna wait. But you can't run for president and
still run the master can No, you cannot. Come yeah,
look you could do debates and ride around on a
bus or a jet and still run the Mavericks. Come on, Uh,
mister Cuban, what did.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
You think of the plan the infrastructure plan that Joe
President Joe Biden had that he was right, Yes, says
I want to answer your question about that. But hey,
the last update I got it was the middle of
the fourth quarter. We were beating the Knicks by seven.
Does anybody have an update on the game.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
Hey, he's not doing press conferences at you know, nine o'clock.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
East sery mist Cuban. That's all your time for this debate.
Do you realize you realize you're on stage for the
presidential debate?
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, but I mean fourth quarter. I mean, hey, Dix,
I wonder Dylan Brunson all presidential debates would be after
the season. I mean, you got a block between mid
June and and mid October. I mean, that's what all
the real work goes in for the presidential run. I mean,
come on, the rest of it's glad handing, shaking hands,
(20:56):
kissing babies. You can't gi it. A couple of statements.
Here's my plan for him, two dollars milk and gas,
although in Texas you might actually have spots where it's
less than two dollars. I'd have to look that up.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
I'll run for president, but I really can't disturb my
day to day. Nah, you can kind of still run
the day to day. You'll be you'll be all right,
you sure, yeah, yeah, yeah, you'll be fine. We'll be fine. Hey, hey,
you're forgetting something.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
It's only the Mavericks, you know.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
That's the part about about Mark Cuban that has always
been really interesting to me is all the the influence
that he's had over the past twenty some odd years
that he's owned the team, And a lot of it
comes from the fact that Mark, you know, he would
get upset about things, and he pushed the NBA, and
he pushed her as Paul trade away from the Lakers,
all these things, and it comes down to this, Mark
(21:44):
Cuban is as big a voice as he or is
this much wants to be involved because he's upset he
owns the Mavericks and he doesn't own a bigger market team,
even though Dallas is a huge market and owning the
Dallas Mavericks is great, but he's in a market where
everything is second to the day Allas Cowboys. And when
the Knicks win thirty games year, it doesn't matter. They're
still a bigger story. The Lakers are always a bigger story.
(22:07):
Other teams win. Miami is a bigger story, Chicago, all
these things.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
He's man.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
He owns the Mavericks, and he wanted to be more.
I should be I should be the Jerry Jones of
the of the NBA. I'm sure that's how he saw himself.
Ask because Jerry Jones is the owner of owners in
the NFL, right like there's everybody, there's thirty two owners,
but Jerry Jones is above everybody else. He wanted to say, Hey,
I'm above everybody else.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
I'm not. I'm just because you're in the same city.
You think, but you're not.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
I mean, James Dolan could have been the most influential
owner with the Knicks, but he doesn't care because he
wants to play jazz and go on tour and doesn't
care if the Knicks win or not. But he could
have been the most influential guy. He could have done
it right, but he wasn't. Ben the whole thing. I
keep looking at Mark Cuban going, he's just man. I
own the Mavericks. I want to own the Lake. I
wanted to own the Lakers. I wanted to own the Knicks.
But I bought the Mavericks and that I thought I
(22:53):
was going to turn them into a big global brand
like the Cowboys and all these things, and I just
didn't do it. And I wonder if that's part why
he's selling too. We were trying to figure out why
because it doesn't make sense. We haven't heard from him.
But I wonder if that's part of it too, Is that, Yeah,
I thought I was gonna turn the Mavericks global.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
I thought after we won the championship finally in Dirk wins,
everything is gonna be great.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
But the met we're still the Dallas Mavericks and we're
not the Knicks. Twenty years, We're still not the Knicks.
We're not the Lakers or not any of these teams. Okay,
you know what my passion for the for the Mavericks. Yeah,
maybe I want to start doing something else at some point,
And maybe I'm just gonna run the team until somebody
else runs the team, or or they find somebody else
run day to day operations, and I do something else
(23:34):
at the end because I'm sixty five and I've put
I've put my best years into the Mavericks and it
kind of is where it is right now.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
Well, maybe there's another meltdown in the offing and he
wants to have more cash on the end exit. How
about a Fresco exit swollen down.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike carbon livethtirec dot com Studios.
All right, coming up in ninety seconds, we are going
to have the big takeaway.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
From the College Football Player Off poll.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
But first The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon Live
from the Tirak dot com Studios. The college Football Playoff Pole,
the next to last one came outside. You just heard
Kevin Wyer talk about it a little bit, and we
now know a lot of things, right. We know how
much the College Football Playoff Committee doesn't like Florida State.
(24:21):
We know how much they don't like Texas. But everything
is pretty cut and dried going into the games. When
the games happened, the chaos reigns. You have your four
undefeated teams are one through four. Georgia, Michigan, Washington, Florida State,
Florida State jumping back into the top four being undefeated
following Ohio State's loss.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
Right, So there's your order.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
Georgia, Michigan, Washington, Florida State, Oregon, Ohio State, Texas and Alabama.
Those are your next four teams, all with one loss. Oregon,
Ohio State, Texas, Alabama. Those are your one loss teams.
The College Football Playoff is going to come from four
of those eight teams. The biggest takeaway from this I
(25:05):
stare at Florida State at number four, and you know,
after seeing what the CFP Committee chairman had to say
tonight about Florida State, that the CFP Committee is dying
to drop Florida State from number four even.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
If they win in the ACC Championship game.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
All right, now, Boot Oregan, who sounds more like a
point guard than a College Football Playoff chair, but that's
what he is.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Why can't he be both? And maybe he could be.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
Well, if you can be president and still run the Mavericks,
I guess you could be a point guard and you
can run the College Football Playoff Committee, I guess you
could do those things.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
It's not a bad way to be, uh both.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
Oregans was on ESPN's rankings release show tonight talking about
the great season it's been. It has been weird. We
haven't really had upsets. That's kind of really strange. We've had,
you know, teams that are about the same rankings play
and we've had a couple of oh, hey, the you know,
the eighth ranked Texas beat fourth ranked Alabama. But we
haven't really seen any big time upsets. But it's been
(26:01):
a great season. Here's what he had to say about
Florida State right now. Florida State, who is back in
the top four after beating Florida last week.
Speaker 2 (26:10):
Now they played.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
Louisville in the AC title game on Saturday night. Florida
was just okay. They happened to escape to keep their
season going. This is the exact quote from Boo Corrigan.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
Quote.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Different team without Jordan Travis. It's more than one player,
but obviously they are a different team without Jordan Travis.
Travis phenomenal quarterback, right, fantastic guy. He was there at
the head. He was the guy a couple of times
things got really weird for Florida State during the season.
He made all the plays. Terrific talent who was out
for the year.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
Right.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
We watched Tate Roademaker come in and do enough to win.
But clearly it's not the same team.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
You do not hear this.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
From the chair of the College Football Playoff Committee unless
they are looking into how do we knock Florida State
out of the top four. Even if they win because
if they lose their out, right, if they lose the
Louisville doesn't matter, you don't need to say this. You
don't need to say this because you know, if they
lose their out, but if they win, this statement, this
(27:12):
statement right here tells me we want to find a
way out from under Florida State if we can, because
we don't think they're that good without Jordan Travis. They'd
struggled to beat Florida, and Florida is not that great.
They struggled last week. We want to move out from
because there's no reason you would say something like this,
what about Florida State? The normal statement if you're College
Fotble Playoff comittee is boy proud of Florida State. They
(27:34):
lost their starting quarterback, They're still winning games. They got
a big test this weekend against Louisville. But how can
you argue twelve to zero in the ACC is twelve
to zero in the ACC. It's been a great season.
They have one more game to go. That's what you say.
You're sitting here saying different team without Jeordan. Why are
you putting that out there? There's no other reason to
put that test balloon out there unless you are thinking, hey,
(27:56):
if something weird happens, if Alabama wins, if Texas wins
by a lot, and we get a Florida win that
looks like the Bears win over the Vikings last night,
where it's twelve to ten and there's a bunch of
turnovers and it just looks awful. We want to get
that going out there that if that happens, you can
see an undefeated Power five conference Florida State team get
(28:19):
knocked out of the top four. It sounds crazy, but
when I see that statement from Buck Oregan, that tells
me this is on the table for the playoff one
hundred percent.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
Well, it goes back to something we talked a little
bit with Pete Feuteks, and look, you and I have
been doing this together for a while here on Fox
Sports Radio. I don't trust any of these guys when
it comes to rankings and the juxta position they're in.
I mean, how many weeks do we go? Hey, they
did a good job of giving those and switching those up,
so it made for a better TV show Because now
(28:50):
this fan base is mad and you get a little
bit of heat. How can they be ranked higher than
these guys and everything else right, Ohio State being dismissed saying, ah,
you know they lost, and well forgetting about a couple
of key wins. Now, were they sexy wins? No, but
they ground out a couple of big wins against a
team that's still in the top ten and Penn State.
(29:11):
You go back into the Notre Dame win again. Not pretty,
not a lot of style points, but w's or w's
and so whenever you get a guy in front of
a microphone, like we talked about with Kevin O'Connell last night, right,
he could have just answered the question, you know, we
like what Josh has done. We've had a good month.
Now we get a week off, we're gonna get Justin
(29:32):
back boom done, instead of well, you know, Kirk's been
out and Justin was out and we needed something. And
he goes on for a good minute and a half
before he finally says, yeah, nothing's decided, right, all things
will be considered during the bye week. Say oh, okay,
so you open the door book. Gorgan did the same
(29:53):
exact thing. Could have just said, fun run, we got
great games ahead of us and sold the hell out
of all those idle games to get into the final
playoff rankings for next week. It's like, I can't wait
to talk to you guys next week after it all
shakes out.
Speaker 4 (30:08):
Guys, all that idiot had to say was they beat
Louis milder In.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
Yeah, but he didn't. What does that tell you?
Speaker 1 (30:16):
I tell you Jordan Travis, different team without Geordan does matter?
Speaker 4 (30:22):
Jason, I thought you explain this to you all. If
they beat louisvild In, there's no scenario where they're not
in it.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
There is a difference between it doesn't matter and it
shouldn't matter. What you're saying is after that, and it
shouldn't If you're thirteen to oh, when you win the Accies,
you're in, right. The only way you don't get in
is if you have the other Power five conferences, all
four conferences. Everybody wins every game, and you got to
pick somebody out because but if you're undefeated, you should be.
(30:49):
It shouldn't be a thing. But now the door is
open to it. The minute Jordan Travis got hurt and
they dropped them out of the top four, what did
that tell you? That that that told you we don't like.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
Well, they didn't have any reason to move them out
last week epsite No.
Speaker 1 (31:03):
No, And they only moved him up this week because, well,
do we really want to have this look this way
with a team with no losses being behind a team
with one loss.
Speaker 2 (31:10):
We can't really have that.
Speaker 4 (31:12):
Well, they also didn't expect Florida Jordan Travis.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
No, I'm sure they didn't.
Speaker 4 (31:16):
That's why they might.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
But they said last week they we talked about it
explicitly on the show. Right, he said, that wasn't the consideration.
It was all about Washington. Washington was no great shakes
in their win. Now, Washington barely held off against a
Washington State. I mean, come on, man, even going back
the week before, yeah, I mean, just bad bad stuff. Man.
(31:38):
It was.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
It was really real. It was really stunning. It was
really stunning to see that. But I'm telling you it's
on the table for Florida State to get left out even.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
If they win. Now, they would wouldn't be if they.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
Win like forty one thirteen or something like that, Well, okay,
then you gotta keep playing. But if Florida State wins
ugly and you get a great Texas win and Texas
beats Oklahoma State like fifty six to three or something
like that.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
Watch it happen, Watch it happens. They covered the two
and a half. They should be okay, Jason.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
Alabama Beach Georgia thirty one to ten. Watch that, Ja Jason.
Speaker 4 (32:11):
And if that happens and my wife finds out, it's
your fault.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
We spoke it into existence here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
You're done in this town, man, twenter it.
Speaker 1 (32:20):

Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
Sometimes Alex ty Shirt is in the holiday spirit, sometimes.
Speaker 8 (33:49):
He is Jason without a doubt, this is the greatest
Christmas song ever made.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
Uh, it is a great song. I would say that,
I would say it's in the top five.
Speaker 8 (33:56):
I didn't say that either. You think this is the
best is there this Christmas song ever made. It's better
than do you know It's Christmas. It's better than the
the DMX Christmas song you played last.
Speaker 4 (34:06):
Time top three that one. Listen closely to the lyrics, guys,
if you don't hear it, this is the last Christmas.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
This is it. We had a good run. Chrid SIT's up.
Speaker 4 (34:21):
Better enjoy it.
Speaker 2 (34:22):
We're into.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
Christmas is canceled, Phil Dumphie, I'm canceling Christmas. Christmas is
moving the tree back out. Christmas is cancel.
Speaker 4 (34:30):
William's words not mine, No.
Speaker 1 (34:32):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon
Live from the Tirack dot Com Studios. So I know
it's only Tuesday, but.
Speaker 2 (34:39):
We had the big college football.
Speaker 1 (34:41):
Playoff poll come out tonight, and there's so much interest
in the championship games on Saturday.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
Who's gonna win in in?
Speaker 1 (34:47):
And there's no bigger winning in game than Washington and
Oregon because the winner of this game is going to
win the Pac twelve and they're gonna be in the
College Football Playoff. Right, we know this. The winner of
this game will get in. And I'll tell you what
I know. Washington is the higher ranked team. I know
they're undefeated. I know they beat Oregon early this season.
Give me Oregon in a route. I know the spread
(35:08):
is getting closer to ten now, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 2 (35:11):
Give the points.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
Washington has not just slowed down. They look like they're
hitting the wall. They're just not the same team they
were in the middle of the season. Everybody peaks different times.
The great teams peak late in the season. They get
hot when they need to be, and they go into
the playoffs and that's how they win. Whether it's football, baseball, basketball.
Speaker 2 (35:29):
Doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
Washington peaked in the midway part of the season because
you look at them the last couple of weeks, they're
just not the same team offensively. Michael Pennix is not
putting up numbers, he's not moving the team like he
used to. They're struggling to win a lot more. You
could tell me, well the last Apple companies that, No,
they are way more talented than Washington State and they
needed to pull it out and get lucky.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
At the end.
Speaker 1 (35:49):
You look at the other side and it's Oregon and
they are the complete and total opposite of Washington. They
have been streaking. They are beating teams badly. They have
been foaming at the mouth or this rematch against Washington
from earlier this year. They are ready to play this
game and they have wanted this rematch for a long time.
There's a difference between the team that lost and really
(36:10):
desires to play again and the team that won. The
team that one has to say, we beat him once,
we had to play him again, because that's kind of
how I look at Washington and when you have one
team that is at the end of the season going
in and going in one direction, and the other one
that looks like they're out of guess the out of
gas team never steps up and says, hey, here's one
big effort. No, it's a steamroll effort by the other
(36:31):
team that has been streaking. Oregon streaking again. I know
it's a lot of points, but it keeps going up
because people like Oregon. And I'm telling you, man, Oregon's
gonna win this one really big.
Speaker 2 (36:42):
Yeah. Washington would be just fine with it if the
offense was still operating at the efficiency it was to
start the season. And we've had a couple of games
where they've put up some big points. Problem is, defensively,
they've been given up a lot as well, on the
offensive efficiency from Pennix Junior hasn't quite been there. A
completion percent four of his last five games has been
(37:02):
under sixty percent and in a couple of cases woefully
under sixty percent. Right had the big explosion against USC,
but I think I could probably lay out a couple
of completions against that defense that was operating this year.
You know, I always try to celebrate guys, especially from
programs like Indiana because other than Pennix Junior, who you
(37:23):
talking about the last twenty five years, Antoine Randelel and
they just fired their coach, by the way, one of
the casualties coming out of the weekend. But you know
this is one with bo Nix and the bodacious ads
and the way that offense has been running. Yeah, they
could potentially steamroll this Washington squad. It could get ugly fast.
(37:45):
I'd lay the ten with it without any second thought,
and I'd get it in now because I think you're
going to rise another point or two before kickoff.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
Yeah, I mean you're talking about still early in the week,
like it could be ten, and it could be ten
and a half by Thursday.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
I'm talking about them from.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
Saturday to today it's already gone up a point, so
I I really I look at this and I go,
this game could be one of those games at halftime
where it's, hey, how do we keep this thing interesting?
Speaker 2 (38:11):
How do we keep talking? How do we keep people watching?
Speaker 1 (38:13):
Because Oregon's up so big and I'll here's now Michael's
with a blender. Hey boy, I'm happy I didn't happy
I didn't have to do that Bears game against the.
Speaker 2 (38:22):
Vikings last week. You know what, We'll keep it entertaining
here because we'll be watching it and commenting live here
on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (38:29):
But I got more news for you. Bo Nicks is
gonna win the Heisman Trophy in this game night. He's
become the favorite. This is gonna be it. He's gonna
put up big numbers. Look, Jayden Daniels has been terrific,
but you know he has he been gonna be enough
to overcome a team that's gonna be in the playoff
and win a game of high profile games on national TV.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
Bnix wins the Heisman Trophy on Friday night as well.
The only time we get to positively just go Nick
show Nix, Yo Nicks. Look at the next Nick has
nothing to do with your squad and their heads, mass efforts.
How good are the Knicks? Wait, isn't he one guy?
Doesn't matter? I just say how good are they? A team?
Speaker 1 (39:07):
Exit out bout of Fresca, exit swollen dome. Coming up
next three big superstars linked with one team.
Speaker 2 (39:13):
Who is it? I'll tell you straight ahead, This as
Fox Sports Radio
