Let's give this parties, but you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello, Welcome inside final hour tonight to The Jason Smith
Show with my bes friend Mike Harmon. Love live from
the tirag dot com studios tirac dot com. I'll help
you get there an unmatched election, fast, free shipping, free
road hazard protection over ten thousand recommended installers, tirack dot com.
The way tire buying should be. So Tonight, we watch

(00:52):
the Bengals beat the Jaguars thirty four p. Thirty one,
Jake Browning three point fifty four in a touchdown.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
CJ.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
Bethard off the bench in a leaf of Trevor Lawrence
nine out of ten.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
For sixty three yards against the game tying field goal.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Still bugging the hell. The Jets still can't get out
I'm not cam sorry. It just sucks, man. Everybody else
has guys come off the bench. We're still good. Nope,
Jets can't do any It just I you know. And
here's the thing is that when I got up today
and I get up and you know, do my normal thing,
get up, you know, Monday morning, and I check to

(01:28):
see what the big stories are. I checked make sure
the world's still there and everything. What are the head
playouts right? And I go in and I look and
I see why is Zach Wilson trending? What is going on?
And then I see that Diana Rassini story that the
Jets approached Zach Wilson about stepping back in to be
the starting quarterback, but he has reservations and I just
wanted to do it. You know what, I'm going back

(01:49):
to bedman, if this is how the day is starting,
because the Jets now, we're done, right, We're done. We're done.
We're done, We're done. We stink we're done. Aaron Rodgers
isn't coming back to this dumpster fire this year.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
It's done.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
And the Jet and I can enjoy the month of
December because the Jets can be an obscure team because hey,
they were a great story for three months and we
didn't know. But now they're absolutely done because they stink
out loud. The new GM and new head coach, everything
new on offense.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
They need a reboot.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
They need they are complete, tear down and bring it
back up offensively.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Everything they need is new. No, no, no, no no.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Here's the tire fight now. Tire fire is still going,
still burn. Oh wait that those tires won't light. Let's
pour some more gasoline on them.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Light those tires up.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Here's Zach Wilson, who, according to the er there, hey,
I'm a little hesitant about taking over his starting quarterback. Now,
Robert Sala did talk later and they and said that's
not the case.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
That you're reluctant to play.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Yeah, he'd be out of here if he doesn't want
to start. They would cut him, which is that the
worst thing Anyway, Then Robert Sala defends zachs need to go.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
To another team and shine look out five weeks because
I'm sure.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
They would put him in a position to succeed and say, hey,
go do what you do well instead of, you know,
put you into a box like the Jets have tried
to do to you for the last three years. But
then to see Robert Sallas say no, no, no, Zach wants
to play. He wants the ball. He came to me
and said, he wants the ball. I don't know if
I'm quite there yet. I mean, really, I mean, what else?
What else can you do?

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Man? What else can you do? Really? I would at
this point I find the Jets.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Forget about giving the ball back to Zach Wilson. I
would cut everybody. I would cut Zack Wilson, I would
cut Tim Boyle, and I would cut Trevor Simeon. And
here's what I would do. I would say, Okay, who's
not playing football right now, Let's just bring him off
the couch, like Joe Flacco, who's able to come up?
Why didn't the Jets sign Joe Flacco and bring him back?

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Are the Jets? Give me?

Speaker 4 (03:39):
Get Matt Ryan out of give me three new guys
who are not playing football, and they each get a
quarter in the next game. R G three has been begging,
why not, right, RG three, put them all on the
field and let him just go and just say, you
know what, just call players.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
You can throw the ball.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
Downfield, you can kidnap Andrew luck right, sure name name,
it's eighty. I good, Yeah, I say, uh, just bring
three new guys or four new guys signed four.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
You don't need three on a roster. You gotta go
to the emergency. We don't have time to get the
reality show together.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
Get three or four guys. Sign them that aren't playing
football so you can keep them because they so they
won't signed someplace else. And you give them, you know,
a quarter apiece along the way, or you give a
guy the first half. If he plays well against the
Texans on Sunday, he gets the second f. If not,
you go to somebody else.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
That's how you do.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
Like, I don't remember, did he have a something that
was keeping him out because he's a free agent?

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Colt McCoy better than what you're trying to right, just
break and just cut everybody and bring new guys out there.
Give him a say, hey, this is your chance to
get back if you're retired in the last three to
five years. I call this number. Now call one eight
hundred jets. I guarantee you at least one half of
football in the NFL again, And if you play well
in the first f you get the second f.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
If not you go to the second guy. You know what,
just signed t BO. He's going into the College Hall
of Fame. Why he'd sell jerseys?

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Why not?

Speaker 1 (05:02):
You know people, Hey, I still at that jersey from
twenty thirteen. Man, I got that TVO fifteen jersey illegitimately
at this point, like what rock? Haven't you looked under none?
Because it's like stuck with Tim Boyle and Trevor Hume
in how great?

Speaker 3 (05:16):
Though? Would this have been a second screen experience? Right?

Speaker 4 (05:20):
Obviously got the Manning cast and whatever they were doing tonight.
The only video that's made its way online was when
the pervy cameraman kept cutting to the pool and showing
folks hanging out in the pool, and I'd said, at
some point, you know, it makes America uncomfortable, at least
some portion of them, including the Manning brothers.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
It would see him from the video making the rounds.

Speaker 4 (05:42):
What I want the live look in in the Jets headquarters.
You know, we all gather, we're in meetings and and
we sit down and we take in a little bit
of Monday night football and then watch CJ. Bethard and
just have an open mic to see what starts coming
out of.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
Their mouths and there is proby why not Jake Browning
you're superstar?

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Yes, because he was. He was space three seventy. But
he throw two incomplete passes on the first hand with
four overall. Yeah yeah, I mean, I mean he was
amazing tonight.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
A lot of short passes, but throwing guys into space
and eventually hitting Jamar Chase downfield. They're five and oh
when he's got double digit targets, he's he had what
eleven receptions And if.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
That doesn't work, you know what we're gonna go. We'll
get four new guys next week. We get four guys
this week, four new guys next week. Open auditions. Yeah,
it's like in fantasy when you're in a when you're
two quarterback league and if one guy is on a
buyer guy gets hurt, It's like, I gotta get Tommy Defino, man.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
I gotta play time whoever's out there, who's taking snap.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
But that's the thing. Hit my super flex position and
a lot of these idiot leagues, they make the benches
too big. Yeah, plus the I R spots, so there's
nothing available.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Someone's going in. I got I got Jake Browning in
my my super Flex League, and if you had him
in tonight, I bet you won you a bunch of leagues.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Jason, you actually have Robert Sala trying to convince Zach
Wilson to come back to be their starting quarterback.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
We do we have audio with that boy. Wow.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
All right, so this is Robert Sala trying to convince
Zach Wilson to return as he starting quarterback.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Ahead.

Speaker 5 (07:22):
I'm stupid, You're smart.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
I was wrong, you were right. You're the best, I'm
the worst. You're very good looking.

Speaker 5 (07:32):
I'm not attractive, all right, as long as you're willing
to admit that.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Now, are you ready to get down to business and
do exactly what I tell you to do? Sounds perfect?
That sounds good and how authoritative. Zach Wilson Wasn't that
all the things he was saying not attractive? You know,
I actually saw Carl Weathers in a store once you did.
I was so excited, Like about five or six years ago.

(07:58):
I saw him in the Whole Foods here at LA
and I wanted to say something to him. But unfortunately,
like everybody that he walked up said something to him,
like a let the guy, Let the guy go.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
You should have called him, Gabe, I just I ain't
got time to bleed. You got tied to Duck.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
I wanted to walk up to him and go, this
is like a circus to you, man, I really wanted
to Jason. We also have Robert Salad trying to find
Zach Wilson today, trying to find him. Okay, okay, all right,
let's hear Robert Salad trying to find Zach Wilson.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
Wilson, where are you? Well done?

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Well, I'm sorry, that's the wrong audio. That's audio of
Zach Wilson during a game trying to find Garrett Wilson
to throw him the football.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
That's what that's about. That's Wilson trying to find Wilson. Well,
it's ubiquitous, that's I mean, what how does a report get?
And the thing is solid?

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Didn't really deny it, like he kind of said, well,
I don't know what said to other guys in the
locker room, like basically saying, Diana Rassin, he has something
with that that maybe he talked to guys in the
locker room. Was like, I don't know, man, do I
do it to that? I mean, they don't believe in
me anymore? Do I really do this do, I say,
I can.

Speaker 4 (09:17):
But it could have also been phrase not quite there
when it's the belief in whatever is being questioned, like,
it could have very well been you know blank. These
guys they put me out there. Oh sure they've and like,
look at where we are and whatever. You guys have
watched it out there, haven't you.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Guys?

Speaker 1 (09:35):
We actually have some more of rodern solid Zach Wilson.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
You want to hear it?

Speaker 1 (09:41):
Yeah, yeah, Okay, So this is Sala just trying to
talk to him during the day today.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
Okay, go ahead, good, then get the hell out of
my life. Oh need you beat it?

Speaker 1 (09:49):
Leave me alone.

Speaker 6 (09:52):
I'm sorry, babe. I didn't mean that either. I just
yell sometimes because I get so scared, scared of being
a nobody.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
That's one of my favorite clips the Adam Sandler movie.
You can I can see where that would be an issue. Sala. Sorry,
Sala channeling his inner Adam Sandler. I'm sorry. I was
just Sala just you know, just think about this for
a second.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
If that that a guy could potentially be offered, hey
do you want to start again at quarterback?

Speaker 3 (10:23):
And the guy could say no, yeah, no, not so much.
Yeah no, no, no, not.

Speaker 4 (10:28):
You know, the offensive line you've constructed is good. The
offense you're calling Hackett sucks.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
Yeah, I'm left out there and hung out to dry,
and it's just more bad tape and the probability that
I'm injured going into free agency.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
I think this works out for it. I don't. I don't.
I don't need that. I don't need it. I'm I'm
all right. All I'm gonna do is damage.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Not that you could damage me any further, but I
want to stay in the NFL after this year, and
someone's gonna want to sign me as a backup. And
the more I put on tape, the worse it looks
for me. So I'm I'm gonna say no, I'm gonna
pass that. I'm gonna pass. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
I mean, he does have one more year left on
his Jets deal. You can't. You can't bring him back,
there's no way. But if he goes into the transfer portal,
you can't bring good. He could. Hey, everybody did. If
you were a quarterback that took a snap.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
You're saying, anybody want to pay me a lot of money,
I'll transfer. If Zach Wilson is playing quarterback for the Jets.
Did they get picked for the college football Playoff or no?
Do they say, oh no, sorry, I can't no, I
can't can't take.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
You with the Jets.

Speaker 4 (11:28):
These other six teams are more talented than what the
Jets are putting out there.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
You got two guys and a bunch of no. No,
this is a young man who wants the ball. Okay, great, Like,
why can't why why can't you know? This is why
we can't have no no because you know, I tell
you any people always oh you talk about the Jets
like talking about the Bears, like, because we want you
to know who we are.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
We know, we want you to know who we are.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
You have a lot of choices at night and you
to listen to and want you to feel like you
know us. So we talk about our teams and also
talk about the misery with our teams. Your teams look
even better. Laugh at us with us.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Right now, I'm like, you know what here it is.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
It's early December and and I'm excited because we're in
the holiday push now right Ty Shirt's playing holiday songs
although I don't know half of them and they're all
angry thrash metal songs.

Speaker 7 (12:11):
But at least we're getting holiday metals supposed to be angry.

Speaker 4 (12:14):
Uh not every metal I think they're all uplifting to
me though, you know no, you know no, it's ridiculous.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
It's the energy, you know.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
When I always look at the end of a year
to see if there's any albums I miss over the
course of a year. I was look at the rolling
Stone Top fifty. I'm like, did I miss any good meal?
Because there's so much music out now, it's so hard.

Speaker 7 (12:29):
To get Well, you did miss Kate Bush becoming a
Hall of Famer.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
I didn't miss. I wouldn't say it was missing that.
Oh so I always didn't know what? What what do
I miss? And once in a while you're like, oh
my god, this doom metal album is like the fifteenth
best album.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
Of the year. I'm like, oh my god.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
They always say thing soaring melodies and and and and
hummable fan I listen and it's all like, that's not
a soaring melody?

Speaker 3 (12:52):
What what the hell is that? What is it? He's
going to be the phoodo ballad out there? What do
you got?

Speaker 5 (12:57):
What?

Speaker 3 (12:57):
Didn't know? Good music?

Speaker 1 (12:58):
You've been hit you in the face in the face
plenty of good music hit me in the face. Uh, so,
you know, I want to be happy now because it's
the holidays. Like I said, we're hearing holiday music. We're
getting set, you know, you and I are going to
work through get getting set to the you know for
the holiday being off for Christmas. And I'm I'm going
to the Rose Bowl. Pam and I are going. We
got our tickets for Michigan in Alabama.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
I'm gonna go, uh like I'm gonna.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
I think I'm gonna show up in the parking lot
and see if they have a disaster like I did
a couple of times we first got here. Okay, when
we first got to LA and we decided, let's go
and just go to the parking lots and wander around.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
Got in for ten bucks. Nice.

Speaker 4 (13:34):
Nice because you had the fraternity guys that the rest
of their house didn't make it because of.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
The snowstorms in the middle.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
Man, you're banking on the last minute people that don't
get out.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
You might get in for cheaper. Alabama's supposed to smoke Michigan.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
Nicely. Very funny, very funny.

Speaker 4 (13:50):
Over one hundred and ten thousand views. That last looks
so thanks everybody. Thank you Huskies fans.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
I don't, I don't know that I've been to more
sporting events than I've been to rose balls.

Speaker 3 (13:59):
I've been. I've been to like ten rose balls. They're fun.
And you know, the Rose Bowl is still the same,
still the same, the late night I change it still
still the same. Uh.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
But I want to be pot and I want the
Jets to just fade away and not have to talk
about to do it. I'm like, no, I want that
on the back of the fish. Let's get that tire file.
Let's keep that tire fire burning.

Speaker 4 (14:20):
You' stoking it, Tommy DeVito and the fact that the
Giants are now in the hunt.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
Tommy cutlets, let's go cutlets. Everybody coming out of the
bye week, they're coming out swinging.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
Just I just, I just I can't. I want the
Jets to disappear, and they just won't soon.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
They won't. Soon.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
It'll be the holidays and you can go into hiding.
Exit out bout a fresca exit, swalling down. The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmon coming up next,
No fire burning hotter, Well, then the Jets tire fire.
Then what we've seen in college football the last couple
of days. You want to know why the four teams
got picked for the playoff got picked for the playoff, we.

Okay, this is Christopher Lee.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
Do you mean the Christopher Lee? You count? DOOKU?

Speaker 7 (17:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Dude?

Speaker 7 (17:13):
Do I found his Christmas album?

Speaker 3 (17:15):
Count?

Speaker 7 (17:16):
Deep cuts.

Speaker 5 (17:17):
Baby?

Speaker 3 (17:24):
What year is this?

Speaker 6 (17:25):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (17:27):
I have to look that up. I mean, is this
a count dookou Christmas? Like heavy metal Christmas?

Speaker 1 (17:32):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (17:32):
You're right, it is. Ooh, this is the greatest thing
I've ever seen. This is pretty good.

Speaker 7 (17:39):
I'm just here.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
It enlighten all run TI shirt's making it a lot
easier to cancel Christmas.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
There is yeah. I mean people hear these kind of songs. Ago,
What the hell?

Speaker 7 (17:47):
Man, that's all paging anyways.

Speaker 4 (17:48):
Charlemagne the Omens of Death is the fourth and final
album by actor and heavy metal singer Christopher Lee, released
in twenty thirteen.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
What if I want to tell you, Sam, it's fake? Wait?

Speaker 6 (17:59):
What?

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Whoa boiler?

Speaker 3 (18:00):
Whoa whoa whoa? Well? I watched Fred Klaus today. You
said yeah right after I said it.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
Hey, I Hey, look, I watched Santa Claus kill a
whole bunch of people in that documentary Violent Night a
year ago. That was pretty good, man, Santa Claus can
get it done. I watched Santa Claus get booed. Can
Philly killed John Leguizama? We killed a bunch of people killed?
Crampis grampis uh? The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen

(18:27):
live from the Tireck dot Com studios.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
It's a very Douku Christmas. Uh. We'll have more NFL
coming up in a few minutes. You can say that I.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
Can well count Dooku, count Dooku, count Dooku and TJ
clearly not a green day for Duku. So the last
forty eight hours, twenty four hours has been dominated by
the college football playoffs. So we have two big statements
for you, two things, two of the biggest takeaways you
could possibly get from. Why we saw the four teams

(18:57):
chosen that were chosen right? Why did we get Michigan
and Washington and Alabama and Texas right?

Speaker 3 (19:03):
Why do we not get Florida State and Georgia?

Speaker 1 (19:07):
And the first thing I'm gonna say is this, the
big question is did the committee get it right? And
you've heard three answers for the most part. You've heard yes,
very authoritatively. You've heard no, very authoritatively.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
I'm in sens, I'm outraged.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
You've heard I don't know from all the radio hosts
and TVs. I don't know, but I'll tell you what
the best answer is, and it's the most accurate answer.
Did the CFP committee get it right. The only thing
you can say is we'll never know, because we'll never
know because you could make arguments for all six teams
to be in. You could make arguments for all six

(19:42):
teams to be out.

Speaker 4 (19:43):
Now, I would say categorically, and this is why I'll
put a giant Brian Danielson.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
Yes, yes, yes, movement coming out of the WWE. Because
we're still talking about it twenty four hours. Oh yes,
they got it right. It's it will But but you
didn't talk about an NFL. But it would have been
controversy anyway, all right, it would say they take Florida
State and Georgia. Then it's how do you not take
a one loss Alabama team that won the SEC? How

(20:17):
do you not take a Texas team that beat Alabama
who won the set?

Speaker 3 (20:23):
That is all right, all right, all right? How did
they not take USC there? They could? They could have.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
You could have got Kayleb Williams to play in a
bowl game. He would have done it.

Speaker 3 (20:30):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
This is you can make arguments for and against. I
could give you a great argument against Michigan making it
into the into the college football players. You can do that.
There's six teams and you knew that two of them
were going to be disappointed.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
Right.

Speaker 1 (20:44):
The best thing you can say is we'll never know,
because even if Florida State thumps Georgia, Oh, Florida State
deserved to be and did they? Would they beat Washington,
would they have beat Michigan? Would they would they have
beaten Amma? Will never know. And this is the biggest
shame is that it took this long to have some
kind of controversy that would have affected change, because all

(21:06):
controversy doesn't affect change, right, Like I tell you major
League Baseball, when something happens to the Yankees, we get changed.
When something happens to the Rays, we don't get changed.
But if this happened eight years ago and blue Bloods
are left out, and the defending national champion in the
last two years gets left out, and an undefeated team
from the ACC and a big heritage team like Florida
State gets left out the next year, we would have

(21:28):
a different playoff. We would have a twelve team playoff.
But when you're arguing should Cincinnati be in, should TCU
be in? Texas A and M it doesn't matter. It
doesn't stoke the flames as much. But this is you're
talking about big time heritage, stir the pot teams in
college football.

Speaker 3 (21:44):
We get this.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
It just so happened that it broke the way for
the college football playoff that when teams had to it, Oh,
we're gonna have seventeen. No, we kind of have the
four teams, and we can argue the fourth or the fifth,
but pretty much the other ones. Right, There's been no
other time where you can argue all six teams could
be in not being We're just we're never going to know.
And even the team that wins, it's gonna be Are

(22:05):
they the real national champions? Are they a shadow national champion?
Because hey, guess what, we don't know if they how
good they would any of these teams win? Would if
Michigan wins, would they be able to beat Georgia? They
you know, would they be able to beat them?

Speaker 5 (22:17):
Right?

Speaker 1 (22:17):
Would they be able to beat Florida State? And if
Florida Florida State's defense shows up? We don't know, the
best thing to say is we're never gonna know. If
they got it right over, they.

Speaker 4 (22:25):
Might as well just simulate it on video games. If
we're gonna keep going down that route, right, Uh, this
was the final year of this part of the process
before we get to twelve teams. So if you're ever
gonna just say precedent doesn't matter, you say blank it.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
And that's exactly what they did. And with Florida State,
the way the rules of all of it.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
Are written, and again it's very loose when we're talking
about best, most deserving, the skip best.

Speaker 3 (22:50):
Like I say, my best friend, I like that?

Speaker 4 (22:52):
Yeah, I mean, like, you know, okay, what is best
in life to crush your enemies, yes, to see them
driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women. Well,
there was a lot of gnashing of teeth over this
as you flow through. But is it better to have
a bad September game and then be playing really well

(23:13):
down the stretch?

Speaker 3 (23:14):
Like we're not trying to impress.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
The sids that are filling in the ballads for coaches
that don't watch any of this anymore. Right, it's supposed
to be this committee and they're supposed to evaluate, and
this is what you're trusting. And in the end you're
getting to a point where for this year, in the
final year, you had the chaos scenario finally happen, which

(23:38):
meant people with their biases people with the eye on
the wallet of it all and trying to make sure
you're being a good steward to the sport and to
your broadcast partners and everybody else. You're looking at it
and trying to come to determination of all, right, does
this game back in September now hold that much more weight?

Speaker 3 (24:01):
Does it hold less?

Speaker 4 (24:03):
And for Florida State, unfortunately, they get caught up, caught
in the undertow of all of this as you're trying
to parse it out and what makes for the eye test, Right,
It's been a long time since Bobby Bowden was on
those sidelines, and we talked about Florida State a bunch,
you know, the last couple of weeks, but they weren't
the story of college football, even as they kept adding wins.

(24:26):
They were Okay, they're over there. Because you always had
a math problem. Five conferences, four slots, So even in
the best scenario, the math didn't work, Like the math
never worked at all. And this year, unfortunately, you had
to parse out between we like some divisions or i
should say some conferences within this and divisions within those

(24:50):
conferences better than others.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
Well, and that's that's the next point.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
So if the best the most accurate thing to say
is we'll never know, because we won't.

Speaker 3 (24:59):
Why did we get these four teams? Because at the.

Speaker 1 (25:01):
One thing you can say is, well, you want to
argue one loss teams, and you want to argue Texas
and Alabama, Okay, and Georgia. But the biggest thing you
can always say is well, win all your games. That
was always a thing. Win all your games, be undefeated.
You get it, and Florida State doesn't get in. So
why did this happen? Why did we get these four teams?

(25:22):
Why did we not get Florida State in Georgia because
it's not corrupt.

Speaker 3 (25:30):
Remember remember let's look into websters. Did you day look?

Speaker 1 (25:33):
And we talk about this for the NCAA Tournament and
hoops all the time. Always remember, this is a television show,
and you want to put out the best television show
for people to watch, for people to be interested in
in the next month leading up to the game. It's
a television show. What four teams are the best television
Now you're seeing why they made the pick. Michigan is

(25:55):
incredible television heritage team, one of the most popular teams
in the country year after year to hate the controversy
with Harbaugh, Michigan Washington.

Speaker 4 (26:03):
I find you can already hear the fiddles and the
violins going behind to Tom Ronaldi storys on the whole
Michigan scandal.

Speaker 1 (26:13):
Washington rock Star program, incredibly interesting finals for the Heisman
Trophy and Michael Pennix. Yes, Alabama Rock Star program have
been the Rockstar program for a decade. We have a
chance to take Alabama Alabama's great television. Texas in the
College Football Championship. Texas one of the biggest heritage teams
in the history of the sport. Yeah, they got a

(26:35):
quarterback who's really good. Could go to the NFL after
this year. Maybe quinn Ewers is gonna come back. Yes,
those four teams are great television. Now, who did they
not pick? Didn't pick Georgia, didn't pick Florida State? Why
didn't they pick Florida State? Florida State without Jordan Travis
not great television. We watched them struggle with Florida, not
a fun game. Watch them struggle offensively again with Louisville.

(26:58):
The defense played out of their which is awesome, but
not great television. How much interest would there be in
previewing and talking about a Michigan Florida State game, this
spread would open up at fourteen points. Right, not great
TV because their quarterback is hurt Georgia, And this tells
you how bad TV Georgia is. Georgia is a two
time national champion. They're going for the first three peat

(27:20):
since I think in almost one hundred years. Right, you're
going back to like the nineteen thirties, the last time
a team won all champions of three years in a row.
But they're so anonymous, nobody cares. The average college football
fan wouldn't even know who their quarterback was this year.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
It's not Stetson Bennett. He's not thirty years old. No,
he's gone. He's in the NFL. Like they wouldn't know
Carson Back.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
And this is not saying anything bad, it's just Georgia
is very generic and so if you can't make that
good television, just think about what they would mean the
how what the CFP felt about Georgia that a team
going for a three peat that you think would be
a fastball done well. This gotta be one of the
most interesting stories in all of sports. Team go and
win a championship for the third year in a row.

(28:00):
We haven't seen it again, one hundred years, we haven't
seen it. Nope, we don't want Georgia in. We don't
want Georgia in. This chose you. It's a television event.
And what's the best TV? Michigan Alabama?

Speaker 3 (28:11):
Great TV man, great TV?

Speaker 4 (28:13):
Well sure, I mean, Saban was a guy that after
that loss to Texas, everybody tried to bury him.

Speaker 1 (28:19):
We kept raising our hand going, don't do that. It's
a bad idea.

Speaker 4 (28:23):
It'll mess you up, right, bad chicken, mess you up.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
You want to hate Auburn for not being able to
defend Jalen Miller on that final, but that's just it.
There's so many failures right Louisville against a true freshman
quarterback who passes for fifty five yards, you can't do anything. Yeah,
And you had a chance right there to kill all
narratives and bankish. Florida State wounded, animal, belly exposed, and

(28:49):
you did nothing.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
Congratulate.

Speaker 4 (28:51):
I mean in Florida State defense was so much fun
to watch swarm. But they had an opportunity, Auburn, as
you mentioned, with the opportunity going on down the line.
Ohio State had the opportunity and they failed all of
these things that they could have done along the way. Hell,
if you had another week to the regular season, does
LSU talk their way back into the mix if we're

(29:11):
talking about teams playing their best football right now right
as opposed to, Hey, they lost to Florida State to
get things started all the way back at Camping World
and all of that. So yeah, it's all about getting
tongues wagging, and even if people are mad at it,
it's good for business. Like I said, Week thirteen of

(29:32):
the National Football League, a couple of big injuries, a
couple of big games. I mean, have we mentioned until
this point other than when we talked to Jason Lockinforda
anything about the forty nine ers Eagles and that it
doesn't matter. It's owning the cycle and it will continue
because the debates rage. And today you started the forty

(29:53):
five day window for the transfer portal, and what did
you see? Quarterback after quarterback after quarterback act. Hell, Ohio
State's quarterback McCord, he's in the transfer port Gabriels in
the transfer portal, wat.

Speaker 3 (30:06):
Player of the Year. I'm out it's and then lacrosse
for uh oh yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, how about that? Yeah.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
But but this, this tells you more of how the
committee's decision comes in. Is, Look, we told you a
week ago they want to leave Florida State out right.
People got into that narrative in the last couple of days,
But we told you a week ago. Today, Hey, guess
what they want to leave Florida State out. We saw
the commit Bluck Corgan, the committee chairman, said yeah, good team,

(30:36):
but different team without Jordan Travis. I don't know that
there's anything Florida State could have done this past weekend
that would allowed them to stay in the tournament. I
mean that would allow that. It's almost like we we
had we have already made our decision. We'll put Florida
State for it this week just to be just to
be nice, well to do it.

Speaker 4 (30:53):
He's going to take everybody like the absolute worst of
chaos scenarios.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
Yeah, of losses and problems for everybody.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
It's just I felt like the decision was made and
if they won forty eight three would be okay, you
finally won us over, you found a way to win.

Speaker 3 (31:08):
But they didn't do it like it was.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
It was it was already had made the decision to
say we're gonna leave Florida State out if we can.

Speaker 4 (31:13):
Yeah, even the look ahead lines were double digits. They
were all eleven, twelve points or more against all the
other teams in that you know, upper tier of the rankings.
So yeah, the argument was still gonna leave them out
because of a better product, better, best deserving.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
Whatever looks good on TV. That's what.

Speaker 1 (31:32):
That's why teams get picked away for UH for the
NCAA tournament and college basketball teams are better team? Why
does Cycus keep getting in with Syracuse is good TV?
Other teams are good TV. These four teams are good.
Now you see the difference. You can you can you
you can't really differentiate them on the field, But when
it comes to teav Oh yeah, there's that big lifetime

(31:53):
right there.

Speaker 3 (31:56):
On TV for calls and losses ain't gonna work any Hey,
you say.

Speaker 1 (32:01):
Belly achin and crying. Let's go to Brian Fenley. He's
got what's trying to doay in the wide world.

Speaker 3 (32:05):
Guys.

Speaker 6 (32:07):
I'll tell you what wasn't great TV is seeing the
injury to Trevor Lawrence in the replay of that.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
And yeah, so.

Speaker 6 (32:14):
That was the big storyline coming out of Monday Night
football ankle injury. There he seemed to have had it
stepped on and then it moved in an awkward way
and he then came out of the game in the
fourth quarter, did not return, walked off the field, then
walked through the tunnel to get to the locker room.
And when he was walking through the tunnel to get
to the locker room, one of the guys that was

(32:36):
helping him on either side was a police officer, essentially
using his body weight to help walk to the locker room.
As far as what the injury is to what extent,
we don't know. Reports are saying that more testing is
going to be done tonight into tomorrow. He will have
an MRI tomorrow to figure things out. There was no

(32:57):
update from Doug Peterson, the team said coach afterwards, and
ultimately the Jaguars lost at home thirty four to thirty
one against the Bengals, and it was in overtime. Evan
McPherson earlier in this game, he had a fifty seven
yard field goal attempt that hit the crossbar and then
came back onto the field, So we missed that, but
then he made up for it in overtime. A forty

(33:19):
eight yarder right down the middle. So the Bengals victorious
thirty four to thirty one and their quarterback Jake Brown
in thirty two to thirty seven through the air in
for Joe Burrow three hundred and fifty four yards passing
and a touchdown. Lawrence two touchdowns through the air and
one on the ground. We did also have the NBN

(33:41):
Season Tournament quarterfinals. The Pacers were the one to twenty
two one twelve beat down of the Celtics Tyrese Saliburton
twenty six points, ten rebounds in thirteen assists. That was
his first ever triple double in the NBA. And on
the other side of the bracket, you had the Pels
sticking it to the Kings one seven to one p
seventeen with Brendan Ingram throwing down thirty points. So both

(34:05):
of these teams the winning teams, the Pacers and Kings,
or excuse me, the Pacers and Pelicans will move on
to the semifinals in Las Vegas as they continue their
in season tournament run. As far as college football, as
the guys are mentioning, there's also the news around the
four Heisman Trophy finalists those were announced today and who

(34:28):
are they. Well, we're going to know the name of
the winner and who did so on Saturday in the ceremony.

Speaker 7 (34:33):
But the four that are up for it right.

Speaker 6 (34:35):
Now LSU quarterback and Jayden Daniels. You have Bo Nicks,
the quarterback for Oregon Signicola from Washington, Michael Pennix junior,
and Marvin Harrison Junior, the wide receiver for Ohio State,
which I would hope Jason and Mike Carmen as I
get it back to you, I would hope Jason.

Speaker 7 (34:54):
The Jets state.

Speaker 6 (34:55):
They're known to blow so many things in draft and
not get somebody that they should. You got so many
guys that you could pull from here, so I hope
that you at least can get one of them. Then
maybe that'll help them your team win a game or
two next year.

Speaker 1 (35:09):
It's that whatever the Jets do will be wrong. Just
understand that whatever they do, it will be.

Speaker 7 (35:15):
Wrong, which is why you should be the GM of
that team.

Speaker 1 (35:17):
I wish I would have oh Man Toy, things will
be different.

Speaker 6 (35:22):
Anybody I can call to recommend you for that, anything
I can.

Speaker 1 (35:26):
Yeah, Roger Goodell, Okay, yeah, three forty five Park Avenue, Okay.

Speaker 3 (35:29):
Hey he wants to outlaw the Brotherly.

Speaker 1 (35:32):
Show, Exit out bout of Fresca, swalling down The Jason

Speaker 1 (36:04):
It's doc might be my favorite Christmas not a holiday song,
it is actually there's no holiday songs.

Speaker 7 (36:09):
Well do you know when they first played this on
the show during Christmas time?

Speaker 3 (36:13):
No, no, that's a lot.

Speaker 1 (36:15):
That's actually true. They played it when she was listening
to Kate sings. It's a holiday, it's not so I
can remember. They even use Christmas lights to relay messages.
No Christmas, that was a Christmas part. But that was
the first season.

Speaker 7 (36:26):
And then they played this too. No, no, you're wrong, No,
you're wrong.

Speaker 3 (36:30):
You know you're wrong.

Speaker 1 (36:31):
So below Okay, this is the way to get you
to play the song longer. Yeah, I'm in, I'm in
on you now.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
You just said, God, it's holiday.

Speaker 1 (36:40):

something unbelievable that we've seen a great achievement. Sometimes it's
the most important play of the night, but they are
all the play of the nights.

Speaker 5 (37:18):
Chances gets hit, the ball is loose and it's alive.

Speaker 9 (37:22):
I've never seen this before in my life. Seen is
gonna throw Brandon Moore back into his quarterback. He's gonna
fumble the football. This is what Reggie White used to
do to people.

Speaker 4 (37:34):
Forklifton, are you like that kid that whose dad forced
him to memorize all those speeches and now he goes
around in stock celebrities and starts yelling at him.

Speaker 3 (37:44):
Is that kind of what you're doing here?

Speaker 1 (37:46):
Just I've just heard back when Al Michaels was excited
to be announcing games. It's it's a throwback, all right, guys,
we gotta get to the play the night throwback.

Speaker 3 (37:52):
So now let's oh, oh, like, it's my fault. It's
my fault playing the butt fumble.

Speaker 7 (37:57):
Don't talk about it, just listen.

Speaker 3 (37:58):
That's that. This is weird about it.

Speaker 1 (38:03):
This is where the police officer come and say, so,
this is what happened in your car got keyed?

Speaker 3 (38:09):
Yeah, no, I'm good. Thank you for filing this. You
can you deserve what you got. It's under one thousand
dollars a day's.

Speaker 7 (38:15):
So we have insurance.

Speaker 3 (38:16):
Jason, here is the play of the night.

Speaker 8 (38:18):
Look, a four man rush they're chasing down gets it
off toward the info and it is picked off.

Speaker 3 (38:25):
Oh that's gonna get inter off.

Speaker 5 (38:27):
Hear it at the twenty thirty he's cutting back inside forty.

Speaker 3 (38:34):
Of my New York for twenty five twenty on.

Speaker 7 (38:37):
The right hand five.

Speaker 3 (38:40):
It was such a great play. He didn't know if
it was New York or Miami. Was that that doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
I've never seen this before since the NFL has tracked, hail.

Speaker 3 (38:50):
I think that's it for embarrassing place for my team.
Did you just get to it?

Speaker 4 (38:53):
A right?

Speaker 3 (38:55):
Here is the play of the night.

Speaker 6 (39:00):
With the thirty ninth pick in the twenty thirteen NFL.

Speaker 3 (39:02):
Draft, the new Year gets the lect Do you know
what I mean? You know?

Speaker 1 (39:08):
You know Gino actually turned out to be good. It
took him ten years, but he actually turned out to
be okay. So the plays are getting less embarrassing as
we go slightly. Yes, but should I play the play
of the night now? I'm sorry, Yes, A free because
I'm pressing all these buttons.

Speaker 3 (39:23):
Oh yes, I guess she's very afraid. We should get
to the play of the night.

Speaker 1 (39:29):
Third down and eleven. Oh, we're actually getting what the
Lawrence goes down. Ball came out and Lawrence is grabbing
at his leg and he is in serious pain. Fumble

(39:50):
was recovered by Anton Harrison and Lawrence can't get off
the field.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
Alex, that was the wrong play? Can you play the
right one?

Speaker 5 (39:55):
Blacko?

Speaker 2 (39:56):
Under center?

Speaker 5 (39:57):
He sends more back to the right flag on the
play and now Flacco looking downfield, he's got a wide
up and rope Fard who catches it and rolls into
the ends up for a touchdown.

Speaker 3 (40:06):
However, there is a flag on the field. Jets didn't matter,
didn't matter, it was a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (40:14):
Got a Joe FLACCOA we did get a Joe Joe
Flacco for a little while.

Speaker 3 (40:18):
Look de lead again.

Speaker 5 (40:20):
Thirteenth playing the drive, tilman in motion, strong in the backfield,
play fake dam Placo's got a wide up in Harrison Brant.

Speaker 3 (40:27):
At the five. He gets into the end up for
a touchdown. J Office couch doesn't matter. I think that
was Chris Rose. Joe did sound like, yeah, that was it.
There you go right there? Office doesn't matter anybody.

Speaker 1 (40:43):
Jake Browning three seventy five in a touchdown tonight today
wins the game, doesn't matter. Other teams have quarterbacks come
off the bench to replace their franchise quarterbacks. They can
all win games, stay in the playoffs, but the Jets
can because of Jets stink.

Speaker 4 (40:56):
Even the Browns look like a more competent organization right now?

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Who looks like more of a dumpster fire than the Jets? Nobody,
no by body happy at Merry Christmas.

Speaker 3 (41:06):
The Jets stink. For your pleasure.

Speaker 1 (41:08):
It is only five more weeks of suffering. All the
teams Flacco, Josh Dobb.

Speaker 4 (41:14):
Enjoy the videos of Aaron Rodgers out there, DTR doing
his best Nick Cage impressions.

Speaker 1 (41:20):
Gardner Minshew doesn't matter all these guys. Oh, I could
keep my team in the playoffs, but the Jets can't.

Speaker 3 (41:26):
You suck. Matt Barklay's out there.

Speaker 1 (41:29):
Why not telling you Jets you can cut all three
of their guys and signed three new guys every week
as keep going. Coming up next, my buddy Ben Maler,
this is Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (41:41):
Jets, you
