Greetings and welcome inside. Happy Monday, The Jason Smith Show

Speaker 3 (00:34):

Speaker 1 (00:36):
From the tirag dot Com studios, tirac dot com.

Speaker 4 (00:39):
I hope you get there.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
An unmatched election, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection,
and over ten thousand recommended installers tirack dot com the
way tire buying should be.

Speaker 4 (00:50):
Well.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Here we are Monday night, watching some sweet ass uniforms,
the Bengals going white Tiger, and so far it's work
twenty one fourteen over the Jaguars early in the third quarter.
I gotta tell you it's a pretty cool look. It's
not the Eagles.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Kelly Green.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Let's let's be let's be clear for the Chargers, powder blue. Yes,
but we've seen the Charger powder blues.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
We see them alive. I've had I've had twenty years
of Chris Bourbon.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Saying, and no better uniforms than the powder blues of
the Chargers.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
See that. That's why I would benefited from muting him.
And look at the look how great those uniforms. No
right now, best uniforms in the NFL. Eagles, Kelly Green. Yeah,
these are pretty sweet. Those these are nice. This is
this kind of gives me a sig Freed and Roy,
you know, the spinning around on it. Very nice, very nice.
It had me thinking of haff I don't know why,

(01:40):
like the just like Hawfu uniforms. Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Why, but I feel like it's like it's like it
like it's off, like they're ready to invade. And oh man,
we sent those probes all across the galaxy and one
came back and I said, no, there they are, and
we they just happened again.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
They were ahead of their time.

Speaker 5 (01:55):
I mean, those are the drones now that should be
like all the laser lines for the first downs and
reviews and everything.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Well, let me let me get because here's the thing,
just really quick about the Empires because I've always had
this thing is that the ad Ats were these huge
and and the and the atsets were these huge big things.
Oh my god, look how big they are. They're coming
at you. All you had to do was like destroy
him from behind. They wudn't turn around. You just send
a ship all you just send a ship all the
way around, and it comes all the way around, and

(02:22):
it comes by and starts you. You blow it up.
It couldn't turn around.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
Like then you basically get to steal straight from the
karate kid sweep the legs.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
How does General Reaken not figure that out?

Speaker 1 (02:32):
It's like, dude, you just go all the way, go
all the way to launch all the way to the side, right,
It's not like they had them and their heads didn't
turn so.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
All the around.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Building come in low as you're attacking. And then easiest thing,
great toys thing, Oh great toy phenomenal.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
Perc uh.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
But here we are right now midway through the third quarter,
and and you know, a bit of a shocker and
again something that winds up pissing me off about the Jets,
but a bit of a shocker because the Bengals are
on top of Jacksonville, twenty one, fourteen. And it's been
a big night so far that no one is really
expected to see from the Bengals offense. Seventy six yard

(03:12):
touchdown pass from Jake Browning to Jamar Chase gives them
the lead. Browning's now thrown for two sixty.

Speaker 4 (03:18):
He's having a big night.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Two incomplete passes for Browning, right, Mixing. They're running the
ball pretty well. Chase brown is getting some run now finally.
You know they drafted him to replace Joe Mixon, but
he had been hurt for a while. They are playing
extremely well. And again this is what pisses me off
about the Jets.

Speaker 4 (03:34):
We'll get to the Zach Wilson stuff. We'll get to
the bah. We got plenty of time for that. Does
he not want to play? Does he plays?

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Is that you can sit here and say all along,
And it's a bigger point about the Bengals and other teams. Right,
did Aaron Rodgers getting hurt suck for the Jets? Yes,
sucked for the Jets. Suck for me, especially NFL fans.
We were robbed of this great storyline, right, it stinks,
But realize that the Bengals lost their franchise quarterback for

(04:03):
the season. The Browns lost their franchise quarterback for the season, right.
The Colts lost their franchise quarterback for the season. The
Vikings lost their franchise quarterback for the season. Not only that,
but three of those teams also lost top five players
at their position for a long time. The Browns lost
the best running back of the NFL in Nick Chubb

(04:24):
for the season. The Colts were without Jonathan Taylor Thomas
for the first four weeks and now they're without him
for a couple of weeks here, right, And the Vikings
have been without Justin Jefferson, second best receiver in the
NFL going on six weeks, supposed to come back after
the bye this week. So you lost your franchise quarterback
and you lost one of the top five position players
in a skill position players in the league. All of

(04:46):
those teams and the Bengals here too, and still they're
all able to stay in the playoff race. They're all
able to stay in around five hundred. So forget this
all the Jets, Yes, it's sc you got screwed, but
you know what, this is why the Jets are a teardown,
because it's new GM new head coach new oc knew
what they need, new everything, because obviously the roster's not

(05:06):
that great, or they would win more games. I'm not
saying they'd be eight and three, but they would be
around five hundred. But they can't find a way to
win games when all the other teams that have lost
their guys all find a way to it. The Jets
are a tear down and it's watching this tonight with
John Browning go on. Of course, this guy who nobody
even knew who he was. Yeah, nineteen out of twenty
is called Jay. I mean to what Jake Browning tonight

(05:29):
one hundred? Well, I mean, you know, guy's name, Jake
can be named John. But to watch him come in? Yeah,
sure to watch Tommy DeVito come in. Yeah, I'm the
toast of the town. I'm Tommy Cutlt's Yeah, it's great quarterback.
Uh Derby now in New York with toront Taylor. They're
back in the home. These teams right there, the graphic
them and the Bears. Joe Slacka was on his bleeping
couch a week ago. Hey, here's two sixty and two
touchdowns and what I mean, really, that's what you want

(05:51):
to blame that.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
But if you say, well, wins and.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Losses aren't a quarterback stat, you know that's a good
stat for the GM and the head coach and Joe Douglas,
Robert Sala. They're winning percentage are three point thirty. Right,
this is not working. You know why you have two
seasons in a row with five game losing streaks because
you're a bad football team.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
The Jets are a tear to It.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Sucks, but everybody else has found a way around it,
and the Jets have not found a way around it.
And every time I watch Jake Browning throw a pass
and throw a touch ups great, this is great.

Speaker 4 (06:18):
All these other guys, all these other guys the teams
even know. Can you throw a football? Yes, you're our
third string quarterback. I guess now you're starting. Just throw
the ball at Jamar Chase Well, find a way to happen.
All these other teams find a way to make it.
Hap I dig this.

Speaker 5 (06:29):
You know we're talking about a close game on Monday
Night Football Week thirteen AFC South leading Jaguars, these sweet
ass uniforms in the Bengals, and you managed to make
it immediately about the Jets. Yeah, you couldn't celebrate Jake
Browning for a few minutes.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
We did not how good he is.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Now, yeah, we're beating him like a pinata because you
were hate watching Jake Browning.

Speaker 5 (06:52):
While you're doing it, well, I'll be fair. It's moaning
about your Jets and their ineptitude. Jake's plenty to talk
about with that. Jake Browning is having a big night.
He is having a fantastic night. Finally had a nice
long throw down.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
A big breakthrough moment. But the Jets stink. Okay, there
we goes.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
I gave Jake Browning some credit there ground by telling
me that the Jets.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
But I'm telling you whose fault. It's not just all fault.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
The Jets can't get the quarterback, right, you know what,
Nobody else had good quarterbacks. You can't can't get anything, No,
they can't. I mean, oh my god, you beat you
beat the Patriots. We can't even beat the Patriots. You
beat them six nothing.

Speaker 6 (07:27):
Just know as much as the Jets suck and the
Bear sock, the Patriots sucked more.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (07:33):
I hurt my eyes by watching that game yesterday. Win
succeed and proceed, no question, Yeah Brownie, No.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
But I thought, you celebrate them all I do, but
you just hurt. Yours still hurt the eyes. Yeah you
said hurt. You're right, but it can't hurt. You're can't celebrate.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
You've never celebrated through a birthday that was painful. I
don't celebrate threat. I don't celebrate those.

Speaker 5 (07:57):
Like where you're struggling having it, like stuff's going on
in your in your life, your family, whatever.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
But you're still celebrate.

Speaker 5 (08:05):
But it could be a lesser, lesser birthday got a
rank but it's last. Yeah, but just like that football
game is going to rank down with what the Bears
and Panthers and Jets have been putting on the field.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
If they're all fun, some are more degrees of fun.
Moment you've said this was not fun, yet you still celebrate.
I don't celebrate things that are not fun. You say,
I celebrate them all jots and fun. The Jets mutually exclusive.

Speaker 5 (08:30):
Anyway, back to Browning, he did complete a pass beyond
twenty yards.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
I believe air yards. We've got to go back and
check it.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
But that pass to Jamar Chase might have been at
twenty one yards because I heard on the first half
Kurt Water on the radio broadcast his lamentation, take a
shot down field, please stop the dinking and donkey because
everything is five yards and it was like rounders, check, check, check,
And he finally got them frustrated enough to where he
got one on one coverage on the outside and guess what,

(08:59):
little loader, and away Jamar Chase went. He's over one
hundred yards and a touchdown. Now let's talk about what
really is bothering you about this game?

Speaker 4 (09:08):
I told you no, no over a quarterback and go,
oh hey, that's right.

Speaker 5 (09:14):
Yeah anybody, no, no, don't But that's not that's got
a new development. We just added another name to the
chalkboard list of guys that tick you off, that are
doing it.

Speaker 4 (09:26):
Mike scoring. That's a lot of storing one.

Speaker 5 (09:30):
But early on their first possession, Trevor Lawrence connected with
Christian Kirk on a twenty six.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Yard pass and then growing exactly.

Speaker 5 (09:41):
That was enough to send Smith to an l in
a fantasy league that he was leading.

Speaker 6 (09:47):
If only they kept Joe Flacco on the practice.

Speaker 4 (09:51):
I was losing, I was winning by a point.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
Yeah, and I figure I'm gonna it's a big It's
a big industry league, right, big Dynastaur. Oh yeah, okay,
and if I win, I would have clinched the playoffs spot,
which is exciting. And but I'm like, I'm gonna lose.
He's got Christian Kirk and I don't have anybody. And
Kirk catches that one pass to Wealth to win. Okay,
so we won and then that was it and that's
all they That's just it, right, just enough to take
out this week.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
Sorry buddy, but it happens. But yeah, this is not
a new thing.

Speaker 5 (10:18):
This has been latent and developing and jest dating for
weeks as more and more quarterbacks because what are we at,
like fifty two starting quarterbacks in the NFL this year,
and every guy that gets a couple of snaps you
hate football that much more.

Speaker 4 (10:33):
I am not a big fan.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
I am not I who hates football more. Right now,
you are Florida State. Oh no, no, Florida State, Florida,
Florida State. Not too soon, yes, not too soon? Well,
Georgia too, Georgia and Florida State.

Speaker 5 (10:45):
If they'd only been smarter about trying to get out
of their commitments to the conference earlier, they.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Would have been in a conference that matter. See, I
don't know that it would have mattered for Florida.

Speaker 5 (10:56):
I think even if Jordan Travis was perfectly healthy and
able to dance around, they still would have been left out.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (11:02):
I don't know about that.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
If if he was if he was healthy and playing,
well we'll get to that in a few minutes, but
I'll just say that if he was healthy and playing,
it would have been a lot harder.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
This was an This was an excuse to do.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
What could what could you look at and you can't
they They couldn't point and see if he couldn't point
to anything and say, well, we just think that they're
not good enough.

Speaker 4 (11:30):
Does that work? No, it doesn't worry.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
But this was the This was the can This was

teared down. Blame the quarter all these other teams. I'm
watching them succeed without franchise quarterback star players. But oh no, no,

(12:13):
it's all your ful. You know where the blame lies.

Speaker 5 (12:15):
How did you celebrate Aaron Rodgers turning another year older
over the weekend by hoping he.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
Didn't get hurt at his party. He can get hurt
his paraty. He didn't sit down on the couch and
twist an ankle or something.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
I think I think he's okay. I think he's all right,
all right, just flip.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
That calendar flip tick uh exit. How about a fresco
swalling down The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon Live
the tirec dot Com studios. Now, as I say this
about Jake Brown and he throws a pick.

Speaker 5 (12:40):
No, no, he didn't throw it Tyler to throw it
directly into the arms of backer, who was like, wait,
what are we doing?

Speaker 1 (12:49):
Okay, I'm seeing the rep I'm seeing the replay now. Yep,
oh boy, that was a bad play.

Speaker 4 (12:53):
Yeah, play the flipped it out to Tyler Boyd.

Speaker 5 (12:56):
He decides he's gonna throw it all the way back
across the field. But that's gets it halfway where it
gets thrown it.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
That'sssary. It's like a necessary roughness when when a play
didn't work. In Robert Loja, we're just ripping out of
the playbook.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
And throw it away. It's not working.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
All right, We've got won the day. We've got Robert
Loja into the show. Fourteen for Robert Loja, twenty one
to twenty one. Late in the third quarter, Jaguars have
the ball in the red zone. We will keep you

the third quarter, Bengals do have the ball, and again
people say, wow, this is more competitive than I thought.

Speaker 4 (16:05):
Yeah, guy, is not. Everybody says, oh, we lost our quarterback.
Go feels so bad for that. No other teams decided
to get up off the mat Jets. Sorry sorry, It's.

Speaker 5 (16:14):
Just I mean, this team does have a lot more
talent than yours. Does I mean that cannot be denied?

Speaker 4 (16:20):
I don't know about that.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
I think defensively we're one of the most talented teams
in the NFL. Okay, but my might it stops right there,
it stops right, stops right.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
That's all score a few points.

Speaker 8 (17:06):
Hey, what's going on? Gentlemen.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
I'm just sitting here saying to myself, boy, you know
how much it sucks that, you know, for Aaron Rodgers
to get hurt for the Jets. But you know what,
the Browns and the Bengals and the Vikings and the
Colts all lost their franchise quarterbacks and they seem to
be in the playoff. Hut Browning looks like he's the
reincarnation of Drew Bludsoe. Tonight they find a way to
win games. But no, no, no, Jets can't do it.

Speaker 8 (17:28):
Well yeah, I mean, look, they are not alone in
the unfortunate circumstances of the quarterback position for them. Now,
it obviously you know, four snaps in and the new
team and all the hoopla and all that. I get it.
It is. It is different on some levels, for sure,

(17:48):
But it doesn't have to be a death sense. I mean,
it shouldn't be like, what is it like six or
seven straight games with thirteen points or less. I mean
like it doesn't have to be that dire. It isn't
that dire. And in other places, especially when you have
the backing from a defense like they have received. It's

(18:15):
an abject failure offensively, right, I mean, it just it's
it's it's pretty horrific.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
No, and then I and then I get today Zach Wilson.
The Jets might want to go back to him, but
he might not want to play. No, then Robert Solaz says, no,
he really does want to play. I'm going, why can't
the Jets just fade into obscurity for the rest of
this No, No, we're going to be a front page
tire fire the rest of the way.

Speaker 8 (18:37):
Well, but I mean fade into obscurity, like, no, there's
always been something there that could in case this press
conference was a thing, like, I mean, I don't know
about fading in obscurity. That Gotham running the ship and
come on like.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
Obscurity.

Speaker 8 (18:57):
Yeah, you should aspire to obscurity. I don't think it's
gonna happen.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
That should be put on a T shirt.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
Aspire to obscurity. That's at there. We'll work on the designs.

Speaker 8 (19:09):
Yeah, yeah, all right.

Speaker 5 (19:10):
Jason de forty nine ers do more damage. Brock Purty
now the betting favorite for MVP H and they unleashed
Deebo Samuel Another part of that offense. Yeah, yes, how
big is that gap between them and these other squads?

Speaker 8 (19:28):
Well, look, when Trent Williams plays, they're at a certain
level and obviously that defense post tread deadline and getting
Chase young and coming off their buy and getting healthier
and getting Bosa healthier. Yeah, well San Francisco at full
optimum availability and efficiency is something else. Now, you know

(19:55):
what does the future hold? And you know, Trent Williams
a guy who's in the past when he's gotten hurt.
It's it's tended to you know, manifest itself and remanifest.
I I just I mean they go as egos. I mean,
if pretty is the MVP, then it's really Trent Wian's
is pretty the.

Speaker 4 (20:10):
Top of your ballot right now?

Speaker 1 (20:11):
If I say you're your your MVP ballot, I mean,
I know it's got to be Zach Wilson first, but
after that, yeah, it's pretty the top.

Speaker 8 (20:18):
If I had to vote for it right now. Geez uh,
look on when.

Speaker 4 (20:28):
We talked about it last week.

Speaker 8 (20:29):
I have a hard time, got to have a hard
time anointing somebody right now because I got.

Speaker 4 (20:34):
I got Dak and c J.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Stroud at the top of my list right now for
different for different. You know, Dak, he's been on a
heater in the last five weeks and has been incredible,
and CJ Stroud to do what he's doing and have
the Texans who are starting.

Speaker 8 (20:46):
Over in that team, Dude, for me to call back
the MVP of the freaking league, like he's got to
beat a good team, like, you know, like them surviving Seattle,
And I understand he did his but Seattle's pretty broken
defensively right now. Like he's got to beat a good
team for me, and and ideally beat a good team

(21:08):
on the road, because those guys are some serious homer
so I can't go there. And Stroud, I mean, I like,
what's going on there? For sure? See the MVP of
the league, I don't know. I mean, I guess he's
certainly in the conversation. I'm glad that they're not promoting

(21:31):
on it right now because I I mean, I think
it's the same names we've been talking about. I don't
think there's been a whole lot of separation, and I
think this is unwritten for obvious reasons. I mean, look
at the stretch that's in front of Herz. Look at
the stretch that's in front of a guy like Lamar Jackson.

(21:52):
I mean, I mean this might be totally crazy, but
like what if the Buffalo Bills come off to buy
and run the table or do anything close to run
the table. Like I understand Josh Allen had some terrible
interceptions games early in the year, he also is doing
some things on a regular basis. You know, what's asked
of him goes beyond a lot of other guys. Like

(22:14):
I'll never totally you know, write Mahomes off. I mean,
it doesn't seem to be trending in a particularly good
direction obviously, and I get it it's not going to
be a vintage mahomes year. But I mean I guess
back to right, if you're going to say there ends
up being a statistical outlier, maybe it's DAK. But like
if they're the fourth best team, if they're the fourth

(22:34):
seed in a year of extreme parody in a conference
that's worse than the other one, he's gonna be the MVP.
I mean maybe, but like what would they like, I
don't know, they'd probably be like people figured they'd probably
be the four seed, right, I mean, I don't know.
I guess because the running game stalled a little bit.
I mean, I like what he's doing, but like, well,

(22:57):
if you're with Stroud, what if Jordan Love runs table.

Speaker 4 (23:01):
I was just going to ask about him about in.

Speaker 8 (23:04):
The first six weeks it was a learning curve, but
he took them from the depths of despair to the playoffs.
I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (23:12):
See he already wrote the speech for he did.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
That's how you start the column there, Jason the depths
of just.

Speaker 5 (23:21):
The last month. I mean, Jordan Loves certainly a different quarterback.
We'll see what the analysis is of Watson's injury after
he went down with the handstring.

Speaker 4 (23:31):
But I mean they haven't.

Speaker 5 (23:32):
Gotten exactly great efficiency out of the run game.

Speaker 4 (23:35):
It's been on his arm.

Speaker 8 (23:37):
Yeah, No, I mean, look, I don't think it's going
to be any of these younger guys. I think it's
going to be in some ways, we'll probably come down
to the one seed in the you know who, who
who ends up being the one seed in the NFC,
who ends up being the one seed in the AFC.
If their quarterbacks stay healthy, they're going to be two
of the top three vote getters in all honest, you know,
in all likelihood and and maybe be somebody from the

(24:01):
field tabs them. But if you if you look at
how close this thing is bunched up, you know, I
don't think it's like if I was sizing this up
from a gaming perspective, it's like, Okay, well, who do
you think if you're playing that market, you're essentially playing
who's going to be the one seed or in the
case of Dallas, maybe they're not the ones sare. Maybe
they could be, but it's gonna be hard with the

(24:21):
one lost to Philly already. But could they close the
gap on Philly? I mean, could they at least could
they win that division? But I think it's gonna be
you know, probably one verse one.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
Hey Jay, Obviously we talk about the Jets not acquiring
quarterback of the deadline. That's gotten a lot of attention
no matter what, and I get that, but boy, I'll
tell you from something that affects the entirety of the
season and who can get to the Super Bowl. I
watched the Chiefs and I go, this is an offense
that absolutely needed to go get a wide receiver the time,

(24:55):
and you can see how much they are struggling trying
to make it happen. We look and Rushie Rice is
a nice player, but you can just tell this is
not the same offense. They absolutely had to go out
and get somebody, and they did it, and that could
cost them the Super Bowl.

Speaker 8 (25:07):
No, that absolutely. I wrote about it to Washington Post.
Talk to some people who watched their you know, the
film of their first game against the lines, and we're like, na,
and he read, there's no way he could be satisfied
with this. And then you know, they make their little
move for Hardman or whatever, and there are people telling
me there's no way they can be satisfied with this.
And I know that they had conversations with teams about

(25:29):
receivers and obviously nothing you know, ultimately happened and nothing
you know, I guess prices were too high or whatever.

Speaker 3 (25:37):
But yeah, I mean there's not much dependable there, and
you know, you got guys sort of still not aligned correctly,
and I mean everybody's sort of youth and inexperience or
or or lack of comfort with their role is is
ever present. Val that scantling like he'll never make a

(25:59):
big play, like throwing the ball to him, like the
best case scenarios, it hits the ground. You know, like
it's that's like the best you could probably hope for.
It's just it's not a smooth operation and it's hard
to think that it's going to hit that next level now.

Speaker 8 (26:15):
I have a hard time thinking it will. But the
defense is really good. The run game, you know, has
picked up, and I think Andy Reid's going to continue
to lean more heavily into that and I think his
his tackles are more comfortable doing some of that stuff.
They've just got to unlock a few more plays in
the red zone. They've got to, man if they could
come up with me. Maybe it's it's something as dumb

(26:35):
as McKinnon coming back, you know, because down the stretch
last year he was a touchdown machine for them. Like
they just need some other safety valve or outlet in
the red zone. Maybe it's the second tight end who
caught one last night. Something else has to break free.

Speaker 4 (26:50):
There, Jason.

Speaker 5 (26:52):
I'm looking ahead to what, to me is one of
the most intriguing matchups this next week, and it's the
Ravens coming off a buy, host Y La Rams and
Matthew Stafford all of a sudden very interesting, and Kyron
Williams is uh shot out.

Speaker 8 (27:07):
Of a can Yeah, touchdown machine. Yeah, yeah, it's it's
It's definitely going to be an interesting game. You know,
the the Rams are tenth in the league and offensive
touchdowns allowed, which I think, you know, not many of
us were thinking that's where we'd be talking about them
as a top ten team in that metric coming into

(27:28):
the year, but that's where they are. They're obviously on
this three game streak, they've what allowed twenty or less
and four in a row. I know they haven't exactly
faced a murderer's row as they will, but for them
to get back to five hundred is pretty impressive. And
I really think the buy came at the perfect time
for Matthew Stafford and he's been much more effective and

(27:50):
efficient since the buy. I mean, obviously, going to Baltimore
is a different sort of ask, and you know, we'll
see what that brings out in them. But the dirt
little secret, but Baltimo's defense, as great as it is, is
you can run on them. You can run on them
with heavy personnel. You can run on them by spreading
them out, you know, and getting a light box and

(28:11):
running out of eleven personnel. And I think Williams is
going to be force fed in this game, and I think,
you know McVeigh, we'll keep it as close as he
can for as long as he can, knowing that the look,
the Ravens lead the league in sacks and there's not
any individual there who is a household name, but Justin
Mattabike is having the dominant season. Clowney's having arguably the

(28:32):
best season of his career, Kyle van Noy's had a rebirth,
and they know how to scheme guys up to get sacks.
They get a ton of sacks from slot blitzes. And
Matthew Stafford's been horrible under pressure, you know, the later
he gets in his career. So yeah, I think that
game could go under. I think both teams are going
to run around the football quite a bit, and yeah,

(28:53):
I look, I know that spreads around seven. It wouldn't
shock me if this was more like a few goal
game and then a touchdown game. I think McVeigh will
understand the assignment here and try to attack that defense
where it's most vulnerable, not let you know, Stafford get
hit early in this game, a turnover and let the

(29:14):
Ravens play with a double digit lead.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
He's on Twitter at Jason Lock and for that is
at Jason Lock and for check him out as well.

Speaker 4 (29:22):
Honesty Washington Post. Jay as always, buddy, appreciate him. Man,
we'll talk to you next week.

Speaker 8 (29:26):
Have always more pleasure, gentlemen.

Speaker 4 (29:27):
Thank you zero great stuff there. Hey, you know we
talked about Dak. Dak needs to beat a good team
next three weeks. Dak's got his chance, right, keep that
heater going.

Speaker 5 (29:37):
I was gonna say, right, because we're talking about San
Francisco and the game coming off of beating down the
Eagles and now Jalen Hurts banged up or whatever the
schedule makers.

Speaker 4 (29:47):
Did the Eagles no favor.

Speaker 5 (29:49):
Yeah, here's three weeks of really tough games and now
here's the forty nine ers.

Speaker 4 (29:52):
Yeah, nice and rested.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
No, this is yeah, that's why it's look to talk
about the Niners best team in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (29:59):
They win it.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
But how to realize the gauntlet that the Eagles have
been going through and will go through, and this is
this is this is like they got Dallas. This you
are yeah, all of a sudden, you gotta play Dallas again.
It's like, oh man, okay, all right.

Speaker 5 (30:12):
All right, next, let's go just crazy but yeah, who
would have thought we'd be talking about a week fourteen
Rams Ravens game that has consequence? And wait, talking about
the Ravens trying to establish himself back at the top
of the AFC, but the Rams now fighting for a
playoff spot. Really m chaos.

Speaker 1 (30:33):
Look and the Rams thing too yet they're finding a
way to stay in the playoff race.

Speaker 4 (30:37):
The Jets, well, they got a Hall of Fame quarterback
unders could he was sitting on his Wow.

Speaker 5 (30:44):
I mean, if we had a little more time with
locking forward, did you believe that Flacco would be a
lead again until he took the safety?

No?

Speaker 4 (32:04):
Is this? Is this King Diamond?

Speaker 8 (32:11):
No?

Speaker 4 (32:12):
Is this Juice Newton? No?

Speaker 5 (32:16):
No, that was close playing with the Queen of Hearts Creed?

Speaker 4 (32:22):
Did it is this?

Speaker 3 (32:24):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (32:24):
Let's you a thrash band? Is this Queens of the
Stone Age?

Speaker 8 (32:30):
No?

Speaker 4 (32:30):
Close? Kings of Is this really? Really?

Speaker 8 (32:35):
No? Said?

Speaker 4 (32:37):
Really sounds just like it's corn? Okay. It was off
the album Nightmare Revisited a bunch of metal. If it was.
If it was two thousand and four, I think I
would have gotten it was Corn.

Speaker 5 (32:47):
But because you had Marilyn Manson with this is Halloween,
which we've used on occasion.

Speaker 4 (32:52):
Sure it's a great reworking of all those songs.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
Yeah, okay, all right, of course I can see Corn
doing a nice waterloo. Well, I mean didn't, didn't, didn't
didn't didn't didn't didn't batter loop?

Speaker 4 (33:05):
I mean, do their versions of Abba songs? Why not?

Speaker 6 (33:09):
That was Corn off the com twenty eight twenty eight
Jaguars and the Bengals, about six minutes to go in
the fourth quarter.

Speaker 4 (33:21):
We'll keep you updated on this game. Have more on
this coming up in ten minutes.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
The Bengals white Tiger look keeping them in this tonight.
Oh by the way, Oh wait a minute, wait a minute. Ooh, okay,
Trevor Lawrence is in a lot of pain, went down
on his knee, threw his helmet off, and pounded the

(33:46):
turf in front of him. Oh okay, here's what happened. Okay,
we'll get to we'll get to college football in a second.

Speaker 8 (33:55):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (33:55):
The Jaguars have.

Speaker 1 (33:58):
The football and they are in side the Bengals thirty
yard line. Lawrence is back to pass. The pass rush
comes in and he accidentally gets stepped on by one
of his offensive linemen. You can see his ankle turn in.
It's his right ankle that turns in towards his body,
and then it looks like it got rolled over on

(34:19):
the play as well.

Speaker 4 (34:22):
He gets up, gets.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
On his knees, pounds the turf, takes his helmet off
and throws it about ten feet away the You know,
he's moving and everything. I mean, he's always moving, so
I wanted to tell you that he just seems like
he's mad. So as soon as that happened, of course,
the Bengals training staff runs out. They have gone to
commercial in this game. And now Trevor Lawrence, who knows

(34:47):
that just happened seconds ago in the fourth quarter of
this game, and who knows. I mean, it didn't look
good the way his ankle bent, But the ankle bending
in is always a little bit better than bending out
because of the way your body is not. You know,
your your feet going towards your towards your towards your body.
So that kind of sprain or that kind of movement,

(35:08):
but we don't know what happened under the pile, because
again he goes down under his tackle and yeah, the
Jaguars lineman and that's what happened.

Speaker 5 (35:16):
To him, and he falls backwards over, you know, bent
over his own body, right that that looks grossly uncomfortable.
And just the slow motion of the lineman, you know,
taking on the pass rusher and wear his foot plants. No,
it's that's all kind of ugly in terms of review.
And they went immediately to commercial break after the helmet throw.

(35:40):
Look of a concern Doug Peterson and straight into the commercials. Yeah,
I potentially grizzly outcome here on a Monday night.

Speaker 4 (35:49):
Yeah, I mean it didn't.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
Look like he was in shock. He didn't lose consciousness.
He looked mad, almost like he knew something happened. And
I'm mad because he pounded the turf with his hand
and it's not like he's he's falling down, like he's
up Like it looked like if he could he would
have got up and walked off the field. But he
gets on his he tries to get on his on
both feet and he can't. He goes down to his
knees and you see him throw a big punch at

(36:12):
the ground and then takes his helmet and flings it.
And the look on Doug Peterson's face is what's happening?
What's going on? He's a thousand yards deer in the headlights.

Speaker 5 (36:22):
What's going He sees what has been a fantastic season
and you've seen better play, more efficient play in the
passing game from Lawrence in this offense, the last couple
of weeks, rounding into shape leading the AFC South and
what looks to be a significant injury here late in
the fourth he.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
Is being led off the field. He is not on
a cart. He is being led off with two a
person on either side of him. Looks like he's putting
a little bit of pressure on his foot because he's
he's kind of walking on it on his ankle. So
at least they didn't bring the card out. It wasn't
something that I can't believe it's broken because he's actually

(37:01):
finding a way to put some pressure on it. We
have no idea what the injury is, but obviously it's
serious enough for him to come off the field. He's
to the locker room. I assume he has done for
the night. Still twenty eight to twenty eight. The Jaguars
miss a field goal here with five minutes left to go.
But certainly everything is at stake right now. It's could
be a very different NFL playoffs because here come the Jaguars.

Speaker 4 (37:23):
They were just streaming towards Forge.

Speaker 8 (37:27):
Right.

Speaker 1 (37:27):
I had Jaguars in the AFC Championship game, and Harmon
had him in the Super Bowl, and everything could have
changed right now with what just went on with Trevor Lawrence.

Speaker 5 (37:35):
Well, and now we'll see the depth chart and quarterbacks,
and maybe you'll add another team to your Jets.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
List, another team that loses a quarterback and still wins.
Just what Mark Brunell will come out of retirement. He'll,
in fact, he'll he'll run the next possession, throw to
Jimmy Smith, little keen Y McCardell, Freddie Taylor brings.

Speaker 4 (37:51):
James little Man Stewart. It's gonna be fine. It's gonna
be fine.

Speaker 1 (37:54):
So again, we'll have more on Trevor Lawrence and we'll
get to college football straight ahead right here, Jason
