Speaker 2 (00:21):
This is the best of The Jason Smith Show with
Mike Harmon on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Tyrese Maxie was supposed to be sick. He was supposed
to be ill. He was not supposed to play. These
were things I was told earlier today.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
It's a flu game, It's a whatever.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
You know.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
Four minutes ago, when they ripped the ball from his hands.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
Oh, how does it feel being sick?
Speaker 5 (00:46):
I should have recorded you surreptitiously in the back man
played it back for America.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Welcome, mocked him and now he's laughing at you.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Welcome inside The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon live
the tirag dot Com Studios tirech dot I'll help you
get there. A minute nine to go in the fourth quarter,
and Tyrese Maxi has just hit another heat check shot,
his third in a row. It's a three from about
thirty five feet to give the Sixers a one hundred
and ninety six lead over the Knicks. It has only
(01:17):
been Maxi and Embiid doing anything tonight. Max He's got
thirty five, ten and seven. Joel Embiid is thirty four
eleven and six. Everybody else is just kind of having
fun watching what's going on. Hey, these guys are pretty good.
They're the only only playing on one leg, they're the
only ones touching. This is like watching a really good
like a little league team or or or you know,
(01:39):
a bastball where only the good players get the ball
pass to them. So it's only these guys touching the
ball on offense, Let's let's just grab it and reach
with two wolves instead of much hand. Yeah, but Maxy,
but Maxi and Embid keep passing it back to each other.
Nobody else is touching the ball and they share the
only ones And at this point the Knicks haven't figured
that out. Yeah, and it's been a brutal game, and
(02:01):
it's been a brutal series for Jalen Brunson. I mean,
let me tell you right now, you know look, obviously
it's going on the knicker. The Knicks are down for
They have the ball with about a minute left to go.
But Jalen Brunson has been awful. And what the seventy
six has decided to do is this is now playoff basketball.
We're gonna hound you. We're gonna put somebody on you,
(02:23):
making it more difficult for you to bring the ball
up the court. We know we have a lot of
heavy miles on you. We're gonna make it difficult for
you to distribute the ball. We're gonna get the ball
out of your hands. They are doing everything to make
his life miserable. And Jalen Brunson has been awful. He
was bad in the first game, but he got bailed out.
He's been worse tonight. He is seven for twenty six
tonight for the Knicks. They put their biggest lead up
(02:45):
over the Sixers, which was seven when he was off
the floor. I mean, he is just struggling so much.
His jumpers are short. The Knicks look exhausted. They've been
fighting tooth and nail for the last twenty minutes, but
everything looks like it's short Nowhard had a wide open
three and it was about a foot and a half short,
bounced off the front of the rim. It looks if
(03:06):
I could say anything, I would say the Knicks are
getting tired. They can't chase Maxi across the floor anymore,
and the Sixers have waited to throw this last punch
counter punch game and right now it's a four point
lead with a minute left to go. Well, we've talked
about it a lot, with the lack of depth from
the bench and the short rotation that Thibodau play is
all through the regular season, that eventually it's coming home
(03:26):
to roost, and right now I don't think it'd be
in the first round a game too. But they look exhausted.
Speaker 5 (03:32):
They look well, it looked like when we were talking
about look, you know off air, you and you and
I about Lebron and Ad the end of Game one
against the Nuggets. They're bent over when they're they're supposed
to be playing defense, the ball's actually in play and
they're not getting back. That's that's how exhausted they were
at the end. And you're seeing a lot of that
with the Knicks right now. The Brunson exchange again, you know,
(03:53):
as we're getting ready for the show. They have that
that lead, and there's a shot of Brunson as they're
doing the imagery of you know, images of the game
kind of thing, and he's got his warm up pullover
on the top, and you know, we're not hearing the
audio because again we're getting ready for the show, and
it's like, well does he come back in? And you
(04:15):
seem disappointed that he actually came back on the court
because the ball was moving, you had to flow to
the offense. Overall, you know, they've done a pretty good job.
They've only turned it over seven times, but the shooting
has just been absolutely dreadful and maxy down the stretch.
You know, Cardio really kicking in because he's just driving
in the lane and get whatever he wants.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
You know.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
And I want to say that the big plan coming in,
you thought for the Sixers to be, Okay, we're gonna
try to get the ball out of Jalen Brunson's hands,
and they've done that. But now in the last few
minutes since he's come back in, they've really just cut
off any access route he has to the basket. So
every time he looks like he's got the ball and
he's there with a chance to create, but every time
he looks to move, he looks to move off a
(04:57):
screen or looks to move to an open part of
the court. They and there's no lane for him to
go with the ball, which means we got to hit
our threes and so that you know that that's kind
of a thing. But I look, I give the Sixers
a lot of credit because they're playing fantastic right now.
And I did not have on my Bengo card Jalen
Brunson's gonna look bad the first two games of the
season of the series against the Sixers.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
I did not did not see that coming well.
Speaker 5 (05:18):
Because that was one of the talking points coming out
of Game one though. It's like he can't possibly have
a game like he did. Right, We got a win
despite him playing so poorly in Game one, and he's
been worse in this one. You know, you knew you'd get,
you know, some big punches from from Philadelphia, but you know,
embiid the question about his leg. Maxie, as you talked about,
(05:41):
was reportedly ill and you know the intestinal fortitude. Now
we put it on that game and we can start
debating where he ranks and the all time great playoff
performances when sick eight seven seven.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
Now, I'm just kidding. You could do that at Swollen Dome, right,
how about.
Speaker 5 (05:56):
A fresco if you feel so inclined, you know, because
you want to take shots at the Knicks. But yeah,
for Brunson, the expectation was all right. He regroups and
he comes back as a better version. And give Nick
Nurse and the Sixers credit, they've done a good job
of limiting him and getting the ball out of his
hands late, and he's frustrated as l he's just starting
(06:19):
trying to throw anything up when he has any open
look for a brief second.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
I mean, there's no I expected the Sixers. Look, how
are you gonna win this series?
Speaker 1 (06:27):
You can't just let Brunson create and get in and
score forty a game, right, And obviously playoff defense is
gonna be different, and how they're they're gonna approach things
are gonna be different. But there's been no rise up
by Brunson. There's been no Hey, we're gonna figure out
this game a little bit differently because I can't make
shots or they're they're closing off my way to the basket.
And Brunton's one of the smartest players in the league,
(06:49):
and he just looks like, now the Knicks are playing
as if it's a situation of hey, we're just all
kind of all over the place and hoping something happens
at some point to help us, Like we're waiting for
divine intervention to come and help us.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
Like that.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
That's kind of where the Knicks are at and where
they are with the Sixers the last few minutes in
this game.
Speaker 5 (07:07):
It's funny as you say that, you know, he shoots
a corner three that bounces straight up and in, so
a little basketball gods, the shooting gods giving him a
little bit of love, and now they're wo.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
Oh, I always love Villanova.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Villa, Nova Villa, Nova Villa, nova Villa.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
Whoa In the last.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
Thirty seconds, as Mike Harmon has been very loquaciously telling you.
Speaker 5 (07:36):
I was breaking it down brilliantly, Jalen bring the boards
and puts up a really bad three from the corner.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
It hits the front of the rim, bounces straight up
and in. Okay, so now the Knicks are down too.
The Sixers turn it over on the inbounds and Dante
DiVincenzo hits a three from the top.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
Look at him. You're bowing up. This is just like
in the National Champion.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
So now the Knicks with a one oh two, one
oh one lead over the Sixers, thirteen seconds left to
go in the fourth quarter. The Sixers have the ball,
and I will tell you want the The Knicks may
not win this game, and I'll tell you want one
thing about because because look, Jalen Brunson has been better.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
No, no, I always like them. Come on, man, but
you are.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Gonna have to take this from their cold dead hands
like this is. That's the thing about this Knicks team
why I love them so much, is that this is
a team. They are gonna fight you. They're gonna throw
rocks at you. They are going to fight you with
every last bit. They're like the Knight in Monty Python,
the Holy Grail loses a couple of arms, loses a leg,
I'm still gonna fight like That's what the Knicks are.
(08:40):
They are in this tooth and nail all the way
to the end. It is really something to see. And
they fight and it look bad. They're down for them,
and it left to go. They hit a shot, they
get a turnover, they hit another shot, and now they're
leading by one, despite the fact your best player has
been awful over the course of the past two games. Yeah,
they've had a couple of instances where everybody is kind
(09:01):
of stopping because they're expecting a whistle because they've let
him be physical. Uh much of the game.
Speaker 5 (09:07):
We've had a couple of touch falls where we look
at each other and go, really, you're gonna call that.
In this case, the inbound comes comes to Maxie and
kind of gets bounced to the ground, but they rule,
you know, incidental contact and I guess, uh hand on
a ball.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Well, go the play before they could have called because
he pushed off of Anonobe to get the to get
to the ball and they didn't call it. The Sixers
go right to the rim and it gets blocked. The
next with the rebound Maxie, what happened Tyrese Maxie? Oh,
I'm could go right to the rim.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
They're not gonna expect me.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
To go to the rim.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
Oh, he goes right to the rim and then gets
it back in his face.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Look at Hartenstein, who's been so good off the bench
the last few weeks.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
He's been Quinton Grimes has a.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
Bunch of points rhymes fantastic Knicks basketball, Knicks basketball that.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
Snakes Grimes as the inbound defender was spectacular.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
Yeah yeah, very big deal, really very big deal.
Speaker 5 (10:07):
But Divigenzo with nineteen on the night heart once again
twenty one and fifteen, and we've talked about Hart and
Stein a ton over the course of the year, the
yeoman like effort that you get from midnight after night.
He's got fourteen to eight and obviously a monster block
here just wait, lying in wait for for Maxie, who's
had that opportunity time and again to drive to the
(10:30):
lane with such speed and precision.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
Looks like they're holding up for a last second. Three tyres.
MAXI gives it up a long three. No good, next win,
next win.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
Go New York O New York CoA, go New York,
New York Coat, go New York, go New York CoA,
go New York, go New York Coat.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
You know, you know, I just want to say, I
just want to say for the sixers, I just want
to say, because look at me. Why would you you
don't even want to look at me right now? You
can't even can't go.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
New York, go New York co Gow.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
I'm embarrassed for you.
Speaker 5 (11:04):
You know, I really do, because now Bursch has to
go and eliminate the first seven minutes of this.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Part of the hour where it was dire. Oh they suck.
Brunson's terrible. The Knicks are gonna give this game away.
Blah blah blah. And now we're singing and dancing.
Speaker 5 (11:22):
But I as if you're part of that crew that
got excised by the Mets after the first home stand.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
Wait a minute, wa Wait a minute, I wait a minute,
now this is hang on a second. I just want
to you know, I want to give credit work.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
On some pom poms.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
I know, I'm gonna say something good about the Sixers
after this defeat that the Knicks just put on them
when they were thumping their chests at a minute left
to go. We are going to win, We are gonna win.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
Let me just say this.
Speaker 1 (11:45):
It's good for the Sixers that they're playing the easier
team in the first round, or they'd be in trouble.
You know, it's good that it's good they're playing the
easier Knicks, or you know, to Zip might be even
worse than that.
Speaker 4 (11:56):
Who man, Paul.
Speaker 5 (11:57):
Reid, he was right well, you know he was six
and his nine minutes tonight. So I mean, you can
put it squarely on him.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
But the Knicks are easier team. So it's okay, First,
we got that final call. Ready, where's that final call?
Where's that Knicks final call? Where's that knixt final call.
Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go. I can
just recreate it.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
Ah they missed, Ah, they missed.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
Now let's let's let's now dial it back a bit.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
Now.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
I hate my life.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Uh, you're gonna throw up a prayer three at the end. Right,
you're gonna throw up a prayer three at the end.
You're down three, Right, you're down three if you're the sixers. Max,
he's got the ball. Yeah, he just hit one from
thirty five.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
Yeah, no, I'm ball kicked it out to him.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
And but but with two seconds left he passes off
for the last shot. I mean, really, I mean, what
what what are you doing? I mean, you're the okay,
thirty five feet out, you need a three.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
Someone's gonna take the shot. It may as well be you.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
Why aren't you you You're you've been taking and making
he checked shots the entire game, the entire game. You've
been doing it. And now I'm not gonna take it.
I'm gonna dish it to embiid for for a bad
fe Who do you want taking that three from twenty
five to thirty feet away? You want MAXI taking or
in beat take? I mean, come on, seriously, how does
MAXI give up that ball? I mean that was crazy.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
He's got I got it. We're good, We're down. Okay,
he's gonna take the shot.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
I'm already thinking, great, he's gonna take him thirty five
feet He's gonna make it. He's gonna trot back to
the bench just like he had been during the fourth
quarter after big shots.
Speaker 4 (13:29):
Hey, look at me. I'm so proud of myself. I'm
a good player. I'm a good player.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
I have a good pay. He he didn't take it.
Speaker 5 (13:34):
I gotta say, gave it up. If Embad had hit
that shot, I would have loved to have been able
to turn the video camera. And I mean we have
in studio, so we'll get your celebratory victory out for Yeah, buddy,
you know that that victory chant and whatever howl that was.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
But you know, and Meat did attempt three point six
three point shots per game this year.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
Shot, No, no, no, he did It's not that he
doesn't take him and he met, he had a couple tonight,
But it's you have your guy with the hot hand
with the ball.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
It's a thirty foot but okay, I'm gonna pass it off.
Speaker 4 (14:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
Wow, you talk about a guy that I don't know
if he was afraid of taking that less what you did?
Speaker 4 (14:18):
Look what you did.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
You just turned it on. You just took a shovel
to the.
Speaker 4 (14:21):
Attack of his head.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
He had just gone down the lane and gotten blocked
and gotten Patrick ewing back out of there.
Speaker 5 (14:27):
By This is where you're gonna make these small reference
if you were to walk past Maxie right now.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
Oh look how small you've become. In the final minute,
like he gets that shot blocked and suddenly the Nicks
had free throws there up by three, he comes down.
I don't want it. I don't want it. I don't
want it. How do you pass that off?
Speaker 3 (14:46):
You question the man's heart? I really, I mean seriously,
well I can't. I'm stunned. I'm gone. He's gonna take it.
I hope it misses.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
Oh no, he passed.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
Oh good, I'm feeling good already.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
My stress meter went from like nine and a half
or nine point nine and it was down like six
when okay, yeah he went down like a dude.
Speaker 5 (15:05):
What's funny thing is he's so tall and the extension
of his arms. There's no arc on his three point shot.
It's literally a line there. Find drives can work out
of interest. Line droves can work.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
I'm not saying they don't until they don't. But in
this case, no, nixt win.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
Go New York, go New York, Go, go New York,
go New York go.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
You know what, I was owed this because I sat through,
because I sat through nine innings and the Mets getting
butchered by the Dodgers got helmet not I did get
helmet nachos. But man, you got to see a kid
hit his first career. Get him out of my seat
to cheer on.
Speaker 5 (15:37):
You saw was already thrown so many innings. They're they're
worried his arm's gonna fall off this. I was owed this.
They owed this, got helmet na jos.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
Yeah, but I was getting helmet nachos anymore.
Speaker 5 (15:49):
Yeah, but that that supersedes anything that happens in the game.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
Helt especially in April, helmet notachos. Uh. I was owed this,
No I'm I'm taking this. I was owed this because.
Speaker 5 (16:00):
Really, what would have been even worse for me is
if you'd had the parlay yesterday's results, say the Mets
had won that game, you would have been walking in
here with a brow. And while our usual producer Justin
Frostburg is not here, Ryan Berscheger is in his stead
hosts a popular Dodgers based podcast. I think you would
(16:20):
have been insufferable to him. And then you combine that
with the Knicks winning in the fashion they did, It's
hell night here on Fox.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
Sports Rading.
Speaker 4 (16:29):
New York.
Speaker 5 (16:30):
Fortunately, Glass now had the performance that he did. Go
New York, Go New York, So you're only gonna be
this much insufferable.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
Go New York, Go New York, Go, Go New York,
Go New York go. Oh are you kidding? New York
City is gonna be like escape from New York now
the rest of the night to night and motorcycles flames
are gonna be coming out.
Speaker 5 (16:51):
Buddy, Do you not watch the news at night anymore?
That's every night.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
Sending Snake Pliskin the President's missing President of what Don't
mess with Me Plitzkin. That was a favorite lie Snake
pliskin the President's missing President of What Don't mess with
Me Plitzkin, except he says don't blank with me of
course because of the President of What the Family show.
Speaker 6 (17:19):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
Oh, we have the final call. Oh, let's hear that
final call. Play the final call, ty Shirt, unless you
want to be fired in the next five minutes.
Speaker 7 (17:26):
I just remember why I keep taking Mondays off.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
The next fight.
Speaker 4 (17:28):
That's good.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
Take every Monday off.
Speaker 7 (17:30):
I will tomorrow next Monday. Then how about that.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
Okay, Tomorrow's not Monday. That'd be Tuesday.
Speaker 7 (17:33):
Should be tomorrow by okay.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
If you were taking tomorrow, that would be Tuesday.
Speaker 7 (17:36):
I'm already dreaming of tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
You can't take the day after Monday, being like Monday,
the second or the second Monday.
Speaker 7 (17:41):
Can I play the final?
Speaker 3 (17:42):
Yes, they need a three to tie Maxiean's in a
fun court.
Speaker 8 (17:45):
Three seconds to go, Maxie step back right side, m
B fire's the three.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
No good NICKX win game two, NIX win one O
four one o one. There it is, there it is.
Can you ever tell us that in that Maxie actually
passed the ball?
Speaker 1 (18:00):
Ye?
Speaker 3 (18:00):
No, no, no, he did. I don't think you did. I
don't think you did.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
Look, there's a lot to see, embian, there's a lot
to break down with this game.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
Yes, there is.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
No no, no, no, no, no, no no, They're so funny
and a half more hours, my god.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
No.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Okay, okay, do you want to talk about the Knicks
or are you gonna talk about what's behind door number two?
Speaker 3 (18:23):
Anything but this? Okay?
Speaker 1 (18:25):
Coming up next, the Jets have traded Zach Wilson. Hung
national nightmare is over.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
Yes, we'll have more on that and reaction to this
Knicks Sixers game, because I'll tell you one thing about
the Knicks outside of being the easier team to play
in the playoffs, a boy, I'll tell you they're tough.
They're tough.
Speaker 3 (18:43):
President's missing.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
President? And what Harmon's not gonna be able to speak?
Give it here FU.

Welcome inside our two, The Jason Smith Show with my
my best friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 5 (20:01):
Yeah, but we have that line when you blatantly lie
to America in the world. I get over disappointment, bad
news fast.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
Let Charlie Pooth sing, you threw a lot of interceptions
and not enough touchdowns. So now you head to Denver
Broncos where you could date some older women.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
When you can date older women, you know.
Speaker 5 (20:30):
Charlie Pooth was mentioned in the The New Taylor album that.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
He should have a big, bigger.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
You could have going with the song had but that
had to hit the road. Oh you could have done that.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
Touch that didn't even warrant work. Now, let's see you
win a better place?
Speaker 1 (20:52):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (20:54):
Is that how it goes?
Speaker 3 (20:56):
How can I not? I thought that's a whis How
can I? Well, he raps and charl thing.
Speaker 7 (21:00):
So who's the main artist on it?
Speaker 3 (21:02):
It's Charlie Pooth whiz Khalifa.
Speaker 7 (21:03):
Okay, let's keep it that way.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Jason featuring or with or the thing with the guy
in the place.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
Yeah, you're never getting it was gonna be you know
what I was gonna surprise you. It was gonna be
the Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon and at sometimes
the the musical stylings of Alex Ticher.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
But I forget it. That's how does he get an
and I get a with?
Speaker 7 (21:21):
Yeah, Well, it's.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
Only sometimes for him, because you know he only works
like like like like four days a month.
Speaker 7 (21:27):
Now he's like sometimes three.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
You're like a fireman. You work like four days and
then we don't see you for.
Speaker 7 (21:31):
Like three weeks, gone week.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
Oh okay, that's good, Okay, you're going to be off
with the Knicks are playing.
Speaker 7 (21:35):
What are they playing?
Speaker 1 (21:37):
I'm not telling you. Take the day kettle a schedule. Yes,
I'm busy that day. They don't play back to back.
Just so you know, they don't play back to back.
Speaker 4 (21:45):
Here.
Speaker 3 (21:46):
Do you want to be off like Monday? Weteay?
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Okay, then yes, take a look at the schedule. Uh so, yes,
welcome inside. The Jets have traded Zach Wilson things I
never thought I would see the Jets Zach Wilson. He
was owed five and a half million dollars. He's gonna
be a third string quarterback for wherever, wherever he winds up,
and it's not gonna happen. They're gonna cut him. They
(22:09):
got to move on. And somehow the Denver Broncos said, yeah,
we'll give you a six round pick, you give us
a seventh and we'll split the.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
Money with you.
Speaker 4 (22:17):
Done. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (22:18):
But this is the guy that Sean Payton decides is
his project to show once and for all what a
wizard he is.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
You know, I thought about that. I thought about that.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
I thought, okay, because normally I get I get that
pang in my stomach, that pit that oh, now he's
gonna go somewhere and be good.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
No, no pit. There was no pit.
Speaker 4 (22:35):
Really it was.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
It was like it was like I was eating seedless watermelon.
No pits, no pit, no pit in my stomachy.
Speaker 5 (22:40):
Still, if you escaped the Jets, I mean you saw
with Gino Smith took a decade.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
Yeah he got there ten years.
Speaker 5 (22:47):
Sean Payton and the wizardry can get there and make
him something.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
While you pay his salar.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
Good luck, good luck. It was a great day today.
There goes to Zach Wilson era. There was a shocker
when it did come down Farewell. Now, look, I was
kind of hoping it was going.
Speaker 5 (23:01):
To be one of those Draft day when we came
on air that would be all right. Well, we've got
a couple of wide receivers that got traded. We had
five or six trades in the first half of the
first round, right, all sorts of chaos and suing and
Zach Wilson getting dealt.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
Now that's done. It's one story off the bus. I
think it should be off the books.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
It deserves time to dive into it tonight when we're
going to and we're not talking about the Knicks and
the Sixers. It deserves time to be dove into tonight
so we can fully put the the Jets Zach Wilson
era into perspective, because I'll tell you, look, there was
really only you mean to put it in perspective.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
It sucked, There was a move on.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
There was one thing that really held Zach Wilson. Only
there's only one thing that held him back.
Speaker 5 (23:45):
I know what I seeing that held Zach willis Yeah,
you going full on wind.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
Up bolo party.
Speaker 4 (23:57):
He stinks. It's the only thing that held the back.
Speaker 5 (24:02):
That is now gonna be the thread for the however
long we get to torment each other here and all
of the world on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Hey, the summary statement, what what was it about this
guy or team?
Speaker 4 (24:15):
He stinks? That's what it is.
Speaker 5 (24:17):
And when it when it's really bad and terrible to
the ultimate degree, what do you.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
Then say he stinks? No, you gotta gotta have an edge.
Told you about the Bulls last.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
There's only one reason why I didn't pick the Bulls
to beat the Heat in that game. What because the
Bulls stink? Because they do. Zach Wilson stinks, and he does.
But there is a caveat here because I firmly believe
this to be serious about this for a second, because
it's it's a big day, not having to worry about
Aaron Rodgers getting an important phone call that he maybe
could run for president at this point, or and to
(24:51):
Rod Taylor going, hey, guess what, guys, I'm gonna go,
and I know I'm worry about Zack Wilson somehow getting
into a game.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
Uh is that? Look, he's stunk. He was bad.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
The Jets did him zero favors in trying to put
him in a position to succeed. You gave him a
defensive head coach and Robert Sala who knows nothing about
offense and everything going on offensively. For the Jets, if
they're ever gonna be good is if Aaron Rodgers does it,
because he's really the offensive coordinator. The Jets needed to
take Zach Wilson and say what does he do best?
(25:23):
Let's make sure we designed the offense around him. He's
the number two pick in the draft. Let's get him
outside the pocket, because you know what, he throws pretty
well on the run. He throws pretty good back across
his body. He's a gun slinger. You want to make
sure he throws the football. He don't be afraid throw
the football in just know that in the NFL, certain
chances you can take. Certain chances you can, but you
gotta live with it. But the Jets didn't want to
live in it. They wanted to tell him, don't throw
(25:44):
the football, don't throw them, don't throw it, don't throw it,
don't throw it. How you're gonna make a quarterback succeed
when his first thought back is don't make a mistake.
Let our defense win it. Let breissee Hall win it
when he's running the football, when he's healthy. The Jets
failed him. Okay, so bad as he was, the Jets
failed him because they could have put in a position
to succeed because look, the guy's got the arm talent
he was, he was good enough to rise up draft boards.
(26:06):
A lot of teams would have taken him early in
the draft. And no did he did he perform? Well,
he did not. But I watch games and I go,
what are the Jets doing? Like why do you why
do you keep telling why? Why does he not? How
does he not.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
See this receiver?
Speaker 1 (26:19):
Because you've beaten it into him that don't take a chance,
don't take No quarterback is going to succeed if that's
the message you give them. But that's Robert sala defensive
head coach thinking my defense will win the game. And
this is how you lose games in the NFL and
in college football when you think my defense will win
the game. No, that's not the NFL. A smart guy
as Robert sala is, I could be a head coach
(26:41):
in the NFL because I can say, you know what,
offense wins the games. That's how we win the games.
Defense does not do it. Defense does not win games.
Defense does not win championships, not anymore. You need to
be able to make sure you're putting points on the board.
And when you're telling your offense and you're telling your quarterback, hey,
don't do this because my defense will win, you're never Well.
Speaker 5 (27:00):
The other thing you did was you let Aaron Rodgers
build a team that was replete with guys that seemingly
were only going to work with him. Right, Brice Hall
fantastic talent, Gary Wilson fantastic talents. The rest of your
offense sucked. There was only one problem with the rest
of the offense. No, but that's it.
Speaker 3 (27:19):
But there was only one problem. Yeah, it stinks, that's it,
but it comes back to that, right, is.
Speaker 5 (27:25):
Zach Wilson, Mac Jones. A bunch of these guys. They're
the latest and long line of quarterbacks that we always
wonder what if if you'd been drafted somewhere with some
level of competency. And that doesn't dismiss their failings and
shortcomings in different parts of their game, and I certainly
don't don't take it to where there's no culpability on
(27:48):
their parts. But they were both put in two of
the worst situations possible, the rotating whatever that was in
New England of coordinators and again lack of playmakers. And
then with the Jets. Yeah, Aaron Rodgers brought in all
these guys that are former Packers, that are his buddies,
the offensive coordinators, his friend. He may or may not
(28:08):
actually work with you once you acended the start.
Speaker 1 (28:11):
And I agree with you, but at least they're bringing
guys at Aaron Rodgers likes. It's not like they Zach
Wilson said, Hey, I like all these guys. Okay, we'll
bring them in. But it didn't have quarterback coach in.
It didn't work, but maybe there would have been something
that they kind of built it and look and that's Look,
they fail They failed the kid. They failed him. He
wasn't any good, he didn't have any confidence. He did
it to himself. He wouldn't take any responsibility when he
(28:32):
didn't make big plays. And look, the team should have
moved on from him a year ago. They should have
never gone into this past season with him on the
roster because you could say, oh, now we got Aaron Rodgers.
That's great, yo, but we still love that want to
do the right thing. Hey, we're good guys. We keep
Zach around. Maybe Zach is someone who you know, learns
from Aaron Rodgers. But remember they forget that your backup
(28:52):
quarterback is one snap away from going in there and playing.
And if you were going to keep Zack Wilson, he
needed to be third string, mothballs, whatever it was. But
but keeping him and keeping him the backup was the
stupidest thing. But because it because here's the thing is
that the guy wasn't good enough to start, and they
knew That's why they went out and got Aaron Rodgers.
What happens if Aaron Rodgers gets hurt, that's the guy
(29:13):
you're putting in the game.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
So how how does that make any sense?
Speaker 1 (29:16):
Where you're so bad we got to replace you, but
we're still gonna allow you to be one snap away
from being in the game.
Speaker 5 (29:23):
But we like Aaron Rodgers a little bit more. And
in theory, that was just it was the attempted the
football gods.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
This is an entire Listen.
Speaker 5 (29:33):
No one pertempted the football gods by saying Aaron Rodgers
is gonna be our guy and Zach's gonna learn from him.
Speaker 3 (29:39):
Listen, this is a positive day for it. I don't
want to dwell on this, but I got to.
Speaker 4 (29:43):
Uh, it's it.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
Count It must have been low.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
Wait wait wait wait wait count counter five see happy
clouds running through a meadow. Today's a good day because
they moved on finally from a guy they should have
moved on from a year ago. This is a complete
and total organizational failure. It was It was an organizational failure,
and not doing it was Zach Wilson not playing. It's everybody.
Everybody has a hand. It's like murder on the Orient Express.
(30:08):
Okay one p no, No, everybody did it, sorry spoiler alert.
Everybody did it, whether whether your knife with whether your
knife blade was a glancing blow or the fatal one
everybody had a hand in this. Everybody had a hand
in Zack Wilson. And now I can't believe they got
anything for him. But look, am I happy that he's
in Denver, closer to home. He's in a quarterback positive
(30:29):
atmosphere with Sean Payton. Yeah, and I'm not worried that
he's gonna come off the bench and suddenly rip this
team off to a whole bunch of victories and wrong,
I'm not worried about that. I'm not worried about it.
But I know I'm not the one thing you should
be thinking about. If you're the Broncos, if you're the
Pittsburgh Steelers, if you're the Pittsburgh Steelers, just think for
(30:49):
a second. The Denver Broncos have said Jared's Didham, Ben Denucci,
Zach Wilson greater than Russell Wilson. Just think about that.
They have said that that they have said Jared's did him,
Ben Denucci, Zach Wilson greater than Russell Wilson. The memes
with Sean Payton when he's appeared at basketball games or
(31:11):
wherever he's been out and probably's like, let's do the
lip reading, Like no, I didn't hesitate at all with
Russell Wilson. But he had a giant tag and that
was the albatross, right, that was the the weight.
Speaker 5 (31:26):
The anchor that was going to drag that squad down.
And if you want to re reformat your squad, you
can't keep a veteran that's had an office but it
was operating differently.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
You think that that Justin Field is not going to
be the starting quarterback, just think about that for a second. Okay,
this is what the Broncos chose over Russell Wilson. Justin
Field will be the quarterback by week three. Okay, because
that the Broncos are saying, this is what we'd rather
have than have Russell Wilson. And Sean Payton doesn't want
to lose games, right Sean Payte, Okay, what am I?
But how far are we really gonna go? And the
(31:59):
Steelers have have thoughts and hopes and dreams of going
pretty far. I'm telling you Justin Fields are gonna win
that job. By week three, he's gonna be the quarterback
of the Steelers.
Speaker 4 (32:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (32:08):
I want to keep it on Sean Payton. I mean,
this is his opportunity to show us super genius it
wasn't all Drew Brees See, I could have won with
that Taysom Hill guy.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Go on with Taysom Hill Fox Sports Radio, The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmon.
Speaker 4 (32:24):
So there you go.
Speaker 3 (32:25):
There is the Zach Wilson Arrow with the New.
Speaker 1 (32:27):
York Jets buttoned up and put it a nice bow
right there, and a Steelers good lie.
Speaker 3 (32:32):
Wait, what was the summary statement? Again?
Speaker 4 (32:34):
He stinks all right?
Speaker 5 (32:36):
And murder on the Orient Express the Kenneth Brannig one,
I don't think I've ever actually finished it.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
I think I've watched started it multiple times. It just
got bored. It ends the same. There's no change. There's
no change.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
I'm just saying I don't think I've ever actually gotten
to the end. And Killer doesn't jump off the train
and go oh I can't find the guy. No, No,
it ends the same.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
I just got bored. Throw a bread.
Speaker 1 (32:55):

Go New York co New York co Go New York,
New York co Go New York, New York co Go
New York, New York Go.
Speaker 5 (33:45):
Question is that is that promo not not the loony one?
But Robin Chris is that like a political thing where
they have to have equal time. So Chris has his
point and Rob just yell know, I mean the Mets
are going I mean Chris teasing saying.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
Hey, coming up next our show with that minus the racism,
I think it's pretty good.
Speaker 3 (34:05):
It's pretty good tag.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
But then Parker getting in the Metsican in the world,
So I mean, okay, We're I'm okay with that, the
Mets not cooperating. I oh by the way the Knicks
win the it's the biggest Nick win in years. You
gotta go back to lynd Sana you find a Knicks
win this much fun. Hurricanes score four goals in the
final ten minutes to win. The Jets trade Zach Wilson.
Speaker 3 (34:26):
What the hell the Mets? Mann? Come on, man, I
like the dramatic drills.
Speaker 5 (34:31):
Now the Mets are getting drilled. Now got cooperats like
it's a current affair. Back in the day, Pete Alonso
did hit a home run.
Speaker 3 (34:41):
Though, that's nice. That's nice. Bear getting after that. However,
many more he's got for the Mets until until they
trade them. You know.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
But I am opening up my second victory Diet Coke
of the night because the Knigs beat the Sixers in
a game that they were never gonna win.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
Yeah, there we go.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
You know that Die Cooke tastes like it tastes like
like Die Cooke. It tastes like victory. They should have
that Diet Coke victory flavor. Like, tell me somebody wouldn't
you wouldn't buy that? Like that coke has all these
crazy ass flavors. Now, this is stardust and and this
is spice, yes, and this is I've not tried that.
Ye Oh, it's terrible, don't have it.
Speaker 5 (35:22):
I'm trying to add sponsors to the show, showing the
wide range of products and variations you can bring, and
all you.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
Did was again you're taking the shovel to get back
in the head.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
Here's here's earthworm flavored, Here's grass flavored, here's booger flavored. No, no,
but if you did one that was just victory, everybody,
I'd buy that one in a second, are you kidding?
Like die coke and you buy it if it said
victory on it. This coat taste, I want to taste
it because i'd buy fries. It tastes like victory. That's
what I'm doing, right, And.
Speaker 3 (35:50):
One of the case is a sign Johnny Drama. Mm hmm.
You know you know this die coke tastes like right now?
Speaker 1 (35:56):
Like no, you know when you go to the movies,
I mean you go to the movies and they and they, uh,
you know, Nicole Kidman, thanks you for coming to the
movies again and thank everybody. Yeah, they really didn't do
a whole lot with the video of that, but she's
got a different voiceovers.
Speaker 3 (36:08):
I mean, bad, bad job. But the job.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
But you know they do that and they say, hey,
you know, go to the lobby and everybody's buying popcorn.
They're putting cheese on the nachos and everything. But then
they have the diet coke where they have the glass
and the ice goes tink ching in and then a
port and you see the the fizzing and the buzzing
of the of the ice cubes and the water, and
I just go, oh, you didn't make a diet coke
(36:33):
look so irresistible. That's what this died coke tastes like
right now, the diet coke of victory.
Speaker 5 (36:42):
Surely in the night for the one liner that I
had holstered, I'll uh leave it at Swollen home a
little bit later.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
On let's get whoa Hey. But you know what's a
party night tonight, because the next one.
Speaker 5 (36:53):
It was kind of in the pa in terms of
the satisfaction that Smith is getting from this diet hope
and the Pavlovian response. They're at the clicking clink of
ice cubes and fizziness on a giant silver screen Elicten.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
There's a Knicks eyes wide shut party going on in
my head right now.
Speaker 4 (37:12):
Because he was in the game.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
It's so exciting.
Speaker 4 (37:15):
New York, New York, Go New York.
Speaker 3 (37:18):
What's Clide Fraser wearing? Let's party?
Speaker 1 (37:20):
You know, it's funny you talked about Clyde Fraser. The
Knicks down five with twenty seven seconds left to go
in regulation, it looked like they were going to lose
to the Sixers, who were going to win it on
strictly what Tyres Maxi and Joel Embiid were able to
do for the Sixers. They had incredible nights, they had
(37:41):
the they had the Knicks down five with twenty seven
seconds left to go. But then this happened.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
The METSA going to the World Series. That's powerful. It
is very powerful, Yes, very uplifting. Yes, it's right. He
revival there, Yes, yes, you're right. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:58):
It's like like like like listening to like listening to
a graduation speech when they hey, you.
Speaker 3 (38:02):
Go out in the real world and now go do it.
Where's my check?
Speaker 4 (38:06):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (38:06):
Here's the final twenty seven seconds of how that went
to hard than it.
Speaker 8 (38:12):
Bunts in double team splits the defense, Lowry takes it away,
picked up by Devincenzo eight on the twenty four Devincenzo
corner to Brunson side step three, plutter shot catch god
chuck up, bouncing went in.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
Two point game, We're all not close and.
Speaker 3 (38:32):
Maxie gets knocked down.
Speaker 1 (38:33):
Heart takes it away out top to Devin chenzho his
shot home.
Speaker 4 (38:37):
Go hartensteign the rebound.
Speaker 8 (38:40):
Hartenstein gets it out to Addenoby Devin Chenzo at three bad.
Speaker 1 (38:44):
Din next take a one point lane.
Speaker 2 (38:47):
With thirty eighth seconds.
Speaker 1 (38:49):
Remaining, Bang bang shoot him up to party never ends.
Mike Breen on the call, and then the Knicks went
on to get the lyrics. There you go, uh tyres.
Maxi gets blocked by Isaiah Hartenstein tries to take it
right to the cup and Unobi hits a couple of
free throws, and then Joelle Embiid misses a desperation three
(39:10):
at the buzzer. The Knicks win at one oh four
to one oh one. I mean, look, there's so much
drama just in the last twenty seven seconds, so let's
deal with it as it comes along. Nick Nurse, Sixers
head coach, is a little upset right now because he
said he tried to call time out after the Brunson
three when the Sixers looked like they were having trouble
(39:30):
getting the ball in bounds. He was trying to call
time out, and if you see the replay, he definitely
is making a timeout motion, but then he stops. He
makes a timeout motion, but then he stops and pulls
his hands away like I don't want the time out,
because he saw the Sixers get the ball in bounds,
because the Sixers struggled for a couple of seconds.
Speaker 4 (39:48):
What to do.
Speaker 1 (39:48):
He wanted a time out, but then the inbound and
he pulled his hand away like I don't want it now.
Speaker 5 (39:52):
Almost like a Vegas blackjack dealer motion had nothing up,
must leave, But that's.
Speaker 1 (39:57):
When MAXI loses the ball and the Knicks get it back.
So yes, he did try to call a time out,
but then he pulled it after after a quick timeout
time No, then he pulled away. Okay, we got it.
I don't want it now. So okay, he doesn't get
it and the Knicks one up getting the load.
Speaker 3 (40:12):
Still technically called it, he did, but then he pulled
But guys do that all the time. Yeah, but if
but if he signals it in theory and I don't
want it time out? No, No, I don't want it.
I No, I don't want it. Uh.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
Here is Nick Nurse after the game talking about the
timeout that he wanted then apparently didn't want, but now
in postgame it sounds like he really wanted it.
Speaker 8 (40:31):
Obviously they score, We take a look at getting it
in quick.
Speaker 6 (40:36):
We don't get it in quick.
Speaker 3 (40:38):
I called time out, reffer. He looked right at me,
ignored me.
Speaker 8 (40:41):
I needed a time out there to advance.
Speaker 4 (40:43):
It would have been good. I couldn't get it.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
No, stop, that's a lie. Don't lie. The video is there,
you can see it. He does a couple of quick
tease do it a couple and then he pulls it away,
saying I don't want it. So, yes, he did try to,
but then he pulled away. It wasn't like he was
going time out, time out, time out, time out, time out?
Speaker 4 (41:00):
Of what a time it? Okay?
Speaker 3 (41:01):
They blow the whistle for a time out. This was
time out, time out okay.
Speaker 1 (41:05):
So it was less than the second that he was
calling for a time out before he pulled it away.
So sorry, take the l I'm sorry he didn't get
the time out. In the Endea right, you called you
didn't get it. You can't always get what you want.
I mean, you went full Spice Girls. I mean they
have their great reunion that we saw courtesy of David
Beckham's Instagram.
Speaker 3 (41:23):
Turned fifty. How about that fifty? Yeah, doesn't look a
day over thirty five. I feel old. That's what makes
you feel. Spice girls are fifty. I'd go see him
on tour. Yeah, that sad makes feel. The Spice girls
or fight make signs.
Speaker 1 (41:39):
They're still like, you know, twenty five and jumping around them.
Thinking about how I said, who do I like more?
Baby Spice or Ginger Spice. You can have that debate
right now, who do you like more? At this stage
of the game, ty Shirt, you gotta vote. I have
you bounce in your hand. I have conversations with friends
of mine going okay, Ginger Spice or baby Spy.
Speaker 3 (41:55):
Oh wait, we can't do that. On radio, I was like,
oh man, I love Ginger Spice, I love baby Spice,
I love ginger.
Speaker 1 (42:01):
It was your favorite spicy byby Ginger, baby Ginger, more ginger.
Yeah she was spicy, yeah yeah yeah, but baby spice
also spicy.
Speaker 7 (42:09):
Yeah, but like the ginger is the healthy spicy. You
know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (42:12):
I think they were all healthy. No, they were not
healthy yeah. I mean Ginger also got after it.
Speaker 7 (42:17):
That's what I'm saying. You know, it's a strong kick,
if you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (42:20):
Okay, No, but.
Speaker 1 (42:21):
I'm just saying, like, uh, you know I mean, I
I mean, I don't know if any of the health
habits of any of the.
Speaker 7 (42:26):
Baby spice just a lot of baby food, maybe you know.
Speaker 9 (42:28):
Okay, yeah, what about sweaty spice? Oh big fan like
sweaty spice. O. Yeah, we can get down. I already
knew whatever. Uh look nick nurse, it was for the
referee to look over. You want to time out. The
referee would need need a second to pick up the
whistle blow it gran him the time out. You were
calling it and then you pulled your hands away. I mean,
(42:51):
just say it, Joe. Don't say I wanted to time
out and didn't get a can You can also ar
I could see the video.
Speaker 4 (42:58):
No, no, now I don't want it. We got the
ball and no we don't want it. We don't want it.
Speaker 3 (43:01):
Take the l But that's the thing.
Speaker 5 (43:02):
Yeah, did he put the hands up like ah, we're
in bounds and I didn't get my time out?
Speaker 3 (43:06):
Like he's he's salty. I mean, you've done that before.
Speaker 1 (43:09):
Yeah, take the l from it. From a from a
guy whose team once lost a touchdown on a timeout,
I'm telling you you didn't get the time out, right,
he didn't get the time out. Life goes on and
play basketball.
Speaker 3 (43:19):
Nah, he didn't get it.
Speaker 5 (43:19):
You look right, like, look, maybe maybe that's a that's
a blown call, and in the two minute review they'll
apologize for not.
Speaker 3 (43:26):
Giving you the time out. Unfortunately, it's done. You know
there's no going back.
Speaker 1 (43:31):
It's it's a case of you're up by five with
twenty seven seconds left to go, and you let chaos
rain and you couldn't get the ball in. None of
your players call time out. Look, I get it. And
if you were running up to the referee yelling time out,
time out, time, it would be different because I would
say I'm fair. I think I'm fair, even though you
know the goggles I have on now the's not. But
(43:52):
you tried to call it and then you pulled away.
So no, no, I don't want to want it. Okay, that
what you Well, he didn't say I don't want it.
Speaker 3 (43:58):
Ifybody showed he pulled away. He pulled away. Show the reference.
Speaker 5 (44:01):
But it is like you put your hands up because
now the ball's inbounded, like your time out to time
out and do this. It's that you know, you didn't
wait like wave it off, like it was a signal
from the third base coach telling you whether or not
to but or not it was the.
Speaker 3 (44:16):
Hands up.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
It's like in a quiet place when they were looking
every now, okay, we'll light the fire every night if
we're alive.
Speaker 3 (44:21):
And we're not, you know, there's just no fire.
Speaker 1 (44:23):
We're not talking about a couple of the most overrated
films in recent.
Speaker 3 (44:28):
God, nobody else is.
Speaker 5 (44:30):
It's a whole franchise, like good good for Blunt and
Krazinski and and everybody making their money off My goodness.
Speaker 3 (44:37):
The Sixers already.
Speaker 1 (44:38):
You can see Joel andb didn't have great things to
say about the officiating at the end of the game.
Speaker 3 (44:43):
Okay, well but.
Speaker 5 (44:44):
It's like I told you, right, you're anticipating and you
you've played how many games in the NBA college basketball
for a lot of these guys, whatever, final minutes of
a game, final minute, you're up five, what are you anticipating?
Contact is gonna be called? Ninety nine percent of the
time you're getting the phone call. They decided to call
it here. Yeah, they let you play it out naturally,
(45:07):
and that's where you got got You didn't get the
time out, but through the physicality, you also committed a
couple of turnovers and were left flat footed as de
Vincenzo and company and hit.
Speaker 3 (45:17):
Threes on you.
Speaker 1 (45:18):
And look, if you really want to be fair, you
watch the beginning of that play when they inbound it.
Tyrese Maxey just pushes Josh Hart to the ground to
get by. He had it coming like, he just pushes,
he pushes him to go get the ball. And that's
not called. So okay, all right, let's say you want
to really look at it. There's a few things you
can say on that play. All right, well that didn't happen,
all right, Well that didn't happen a eating a timeout.
(45:39):
So let's be fair if you want to say that.
But if you want to call the time out, you
are screaming time out. You are if you really want it,
you are screaming time out. You're running up to the
red timeout. Time time out, time out. But watch it.
Take no, no, no, I don't want it because you
got to show that. You got to show that you
want it. So and he doesn't even want to take
any responsibility for that. So you want to blame the
red freeze. You know what, if that's Philadelphia wants to do,
(46:02):
go blame the referees. Good, good luck and get ready
for games. What you do good like you're ready for Would.
Speaker 5 (46:06):
I be more worried about your full on Your might
well be wearing a fully velvet.
Speaker 3 (46:12):
Nicks garb like your George can stand you want you
want be more worried about something.
Speaker 1 (46:16):
If you're the Sixers, worry that Joel Embiid is limping
around on one foot and you don't have any other
help behind him outside of Tyres Maxey.
Speaker 3 (46:23):
That's it, that's it. Worry about that second.
Speaker 5 (46:25):
And a half was tough watching him try to get
back on defense and try to slide, kept waiting for
brunts and if he wasn't so broken offensively, like there
were a couple of times it looked like he had
him baseline. If you want to take him because Embiid
was trying to slide by on.
Speaker 1 (46:39):
One leg, you want to worry about something, Worry about
Embiid making it through the rest of the series, because
that's what I would be worried about. Like, Okay, we're
going home. We're down to zip. We almost took that game.
Let's get next one, Let's get momentum going. But right now,
does Embiid look like a guy that's gonna see the
end of this series? No, he looks like a guy
that he's He was barely able to walk out there
(46:59):
that the knicker, the knicks are going and this is
how you do it. He's hurting, the knicks are going
at him there getting Look at all the offensive rebounds
they got in the final couple of minutes because Embead
is on one leg. That's what I'd worry about if
I'm the sixer's not the foul calls. Is Embiid gonna
even finish the series? That's what I would worry about.
Speaker 5 (47:14):
I'd worry about the foul calls too. You were robbed
and you didn't get your time out called.
Speaker 3 (47:19):
Now you see, Now you're just saying that you know it.
Speaker 1 (47:22):
You see, you're just saying it to take be opposite me,
because it's a go New York, Go, New York, go night,
just saying to be opposite me. You saw the time out? No,
I don't want I don't want it. Okay, I watched it.
Got called time out.
Speaker 3 (47:33):
You didn't get it.
Speaker 1 (47:34):
You said, you said, hey, I want you to punch
me in the face. And I cocked back my arm
to punch you, and then you put said no, no, no,
I don't want it.
Speaker 3 (47:40):
I still got you never mouthed the words I no, no, no,
I don't want it.
Speaker 1 (47:45):
But it would be if you said hit me, hit me,
and I cocked my fist back to hit you, and
then you went no, no, no, I don't want it.
I still get to hit you, right because you kind
of wanted me to. Yeah, really give me the time out.
Really give me not a timeout who.
Speaker 2 (48:01):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (48:08):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 3 (48:14):
Well not tonight. They're not Lakers.
Speaker 1 (48:17):
On top of the Nuggets seventy four sixty one, four
and a half to go on the third quarter, Lakers
have played terrific uh huh, most shocking thing. Nikola Jokicic
has eight field goal attempts so far. We are four
minutes to go in the third quarter and Jokic has
eight field goal attempts attempts, not makes eight attempts is
(48:39):
what he's got in the third quarter. As we'll have
more on this game coming up in a few minutes,
and of course more on the Knicks and they're victory
over the seventy six ers. But a couple minutes here
on something that was just so amazing today. This is
the best manager ejection I guarantee you'll see all year.
Speaker 4 (49:00):
Yankees.
Speaker 1 (49:00):
Aaron Boone got ejected after the first batter of the
Yankees to nothing, lost to the Ace. They think about
that the Yankees lost to the A's. They didn't score
any runs. Great, great effort by Carlos dan Yeah, yeah, yeah,
sure sure, because Aaron judged I don't know that he
actually swings a bat, right.
Speaker 3 (49:17):
No, no, they don't. He actually he uses a toothpick
and it just can't hit.
Speaker 1 (49:21):
There was a little bit of back and forth at
the very beginning of the game with Aaron Boone and
Hunter Wendelstett and Aaron Boone okay, sitting in the dugout
watching the game, not saying anything for the first batter
of the game, and all of a sudden he gets
thrown out because a fan behind Aaron Boone yelled in
(49:45):
much the same voice and cadence of Aaron Boone at Wendelstett,
and Wendelstett ejected Boone from the game.
Speaker 2 (49:53):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (49:55):
I didn't say anything, Aaron, saying, hold on a second.
Speaker 3 (49:59):
I didn't say a word.
Speaker 1 (50:06):
I did not say any work.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
I did not say anything.
Speaker 4 (50:16):
Okay, I did not say.
Speaker 1 (50:20):
So Aaron Boone gets thrown out of the game, and
you can see on replays it is a fan in
a blue hoodie again, where are your brothers? Earlier today,
a fan in a blue hoodie who yelled and sounded
like like uh, I guess like Aaron Boone. And that's
what Hunter Weddles said said he heard threw him out
of the game.
Speaker 3 (50:41):
I didn't say it. I don't care. After the game
was over.
Speaker 1 (50:44):
Now, there's plenty of time to look at this and say, hey,
Henry Weddelessett says, no, I know people said it was
a fan, but I know it was him. It's what
he said. I didn't need to go back and look
at anything. I'm like, okay, that's a little crappy because
you did throw the guy out, and now clearly you
were wrong, and he's taking no responsibility for it, which
is one thing.
Speaker 3 (51:01):
But I want to be positive about this. Let's put
some different ways.
Speaker 5 (51:04):
Yeah, it's only the second time Aaron Boone's been ejected
this year.
Speaker 1 (51:07):
I know, right, he's got to pick up that pace. Uh,
how about we use replay? We use replay for a
lot of things. Why couldn't we use replay to go
back and look at this and see if if Aaron
Boone said something to get thrown out, or if it
was somebody else. I'd like to see that, because you
know what, I'd like to see the umpires get a
little bit of come up ince. I' le like see
Hunter Weddlest get a little bit of come uppance because
(51:28):
he decided. No, I heard what I heard, And even
though people are telling me no that this is this
is what I'm deciding, and then after the game, I'm
still gonna be defying about it, even though the facts
are the facts don't back me up on it, I'm
still gonna say that because I don't care. No, I'd
like to see a little bit of come up in
and a little bit of Hey, you have to pay
a little bit of your own penance here because you
were wrong.
Speaker 3 (51:48):
Why not want to show replay.
Speaker 1 (51:49):
Hey, let's see, here's Aaron Boone, mouth closed, mouth closed,
mouth closed.
Speaker 4 (51:53):
Here's the fan.
Speaker 1 (51:53):
Here's the guy yelling. Oh okay, it was not Aaron Boone.
You get to stay in the game.
Speaker 5 (51:57):
Yeah, but you're not gonna be able to ascertain that
quickly whether Aaron Boone has taking any courses in ventriloquism.
Speaker 4 (52:05):
Oh well, how do you like that?
Speaker 3 (52:07):
Didn't see that coming. I thought you're gonna say I
really know this.
Speaker 4 (52:12):
No, I really I found a way to throw my voice.
Speaker 3 (52:17):
He was like somebody at the umpire. I did not
taking it back to old cartoons. Damn. Yeah, I found
you out, Boone.
Speaker 1 (52:25):
I know you're a big but you pretend you're a
different person in the stands all the time, yelling at me.
I've heard that you were a ninety seven year old woman.
Last time we did, we were in Cleveland. I saw
you did that. You you can and ready. I really
I really did think you were going with, uh, Frank,
we're all out here, Frank, there's twenty offices. I really
you're gonna say, You're not gonna be able to ascertain
(52:45):
it was the fan yelling, and I was gonna say no.
They showed the video right after. But no, but I
love the curve ball that I threw in your idea
of throwing your voice think of that. But no, I
I do agree.
Speaker 5 (52:57):
Right, we're heading towards robottoms or at least balls and
strike's gonna be something we fight over here and in
short order of taking that responsibility either away or you know,
have some split decision of being able to overrule, particularly
with the number of umpires that are now at a
(53:18):
point where the errors are mounting. Right, I'm not just
looking at you, Angel Hernandez. I'm looking at the rest
of your brethren. This one seems pretty easy. Thirty second
review from New York.
Speaker 3 (53:29):
What the hell else are they doing during the course
of the day.
Speaker 1 (53:31):
I'm looking at Aaron Boone. His mouth is not open.
It's not open. It's not open. It's not open. It's
not it's not open. He stays in the game and
then and wonders, that's got I'll tell the fans after.
Speaker 3 (53:43):
Reviewing the play, it was this dude in the blue hoodie.
Speaker 4 (53:46):
He's thrown out of the game.
Speaker 3 (53:47):
Aaron Boone can stay. Let's get back to actially, Yeah.
Speaker 5 (53:50):
I mean, really, the allegatione was all he said was
that's bs. That's enough to get thrown out. Did you
have a bad morning before? What did you get some
bad eggs? I mean, what's the problem?
Speaker 1 (54:03):
Exit out by the Fresca exit swollen dome coming up next?
Oh boy, why do you tell you what the Sixers
are planning to do following their loss to the Knicks tonight.
That's next, Fox
Speaker 7 (54:13):
Not lose, right, Jason
