(00:49):
an update on the Nicks and the Sixers coming up
in a second. But I am so bummed I completely
buried the lead of what happened to me today that
I want to tell you this story. Celebrated at Engelbert
Humperting's birthday, I did humping, humpeting, humpting, competing, competinghumpeting, humpeting
Humpeting Company.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
Humpinting all right, Tai shirt.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
So you know last night you were making fun of
the fact that I was wearing an Equinox T shirt
even though I don't really work out an Equinox.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
I bought it when I went thrifting with my daughter.
That's kind of funny.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
So yeah, so I'm wearing an Equinox T shirt and
you said you were going to buy a McDonald's T shirt.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
And he did real days. So nice, let's go, so
we'll take our pictures. Hey, way, I don't understand this right.
So what I like to do, just to.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Let's let's see in a little bit into my life,
is that I'll take you in from the from the
from the end, from the end of my day coming
into work. So I'll take a shower before I get
ready to come into work. Right, I want to wake
up fresh and ready to go, so I take so
I take a shower before I come in, so which
means I come to work, then I leave and I
go home get rid of that stank, and then I
(01:52):
wake up the next day. Now, lots of times, if
my clothes that I only wear for about four or
five hours are still fresh, I'll wear them going out
the next day. Actually, so, so that's exactly what what
I normally do. It's all the clothes upside. I mean,
not underwear and socks, but like pants and a tea whatever,
what day. My pants and my T shirt are fine,
so I'm gonna wear them out, not going commando, so.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
I'm always coming. Oh my god, dude, it's not about
my underwear, man, I'm not I'm not marking mark Okay.
I just think underwear is outdated these days. No, you
need underwear. It's overpriced and I don't need it. What
do you mean you don't need it? Why do I
need underwear? Go hiking and tell me. If you don't
need underwear, I do all the time. Really. Yeah, no
shoes too. You you've never grounded while hiking?
Speaker 4 (02:36):
Experience, You've never grounded?
Speaker 3 (02:40):
It's really fun.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
I think that could be a show, Like, instead of
naked and afraid, how about barefoot and commando. I would
love that. And all it is is you follow someone
who has to walk like ten miles in the desert.
I'm so down with no underwear and no shoes.
Speaker 5 (02:53):
I chronicle that.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Yeah, there you go. That's that's a show right there.
Gratulations patent pending, patent pending.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
In Commando, here's a new show that crime fighting duel
or what see the trick is, Jason, I start with
both and you see which one comes off first.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Oh no, I think you have to start with the whole.
The whole premise of the show is you have no
shoes and your commando you have to walk like you
can't say no, no, I was, you know, well.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Over under shoes. This patch up's kind of tough.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Okay, Well, if you can bet on Dave and Buster stuff,
now you can probably know something like that.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Ski ball Mania. Let's go.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
So anyway, so my wife and I again, now, we
did the show last night. And normally, while something big
that we do, we you know, they record it and
they put it out on Twitter virl virally. So last
night we did the bit that came out about Dion sand.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Yeah, that was a big deal. I got a bunch
of feedback off that. Absolutely that was So that was
on social media all day and there's pictures of you
and I, you know, they look good. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Now I don't know if that's where this came from,
but so I guess up at like you know, normal
time morning and my wife and I go out to lunch.
And so we're going out to lunch and we park
in the parking lot and it's in like a mini
wall parking lot where where we're going. And I'm walking
in towards the restaurant and another car has pulled out
from the from the parking spot and is going by us,
(04:17):
and it goes really safe shock, and the guy throws
mayonnaise at me.
Speaker 6 (04:21):
No.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
So I go by and there's these two dudes in
a car. They're probably in their twenties, okay, And and
the one.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Guy goes, hey, it's the same shirt as last night,
and he gives me the peace signe and hits the
gas and I was like, ah, how.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
Great is that?
Speaker 1 (04:35):
That was really cool? No, kid, that was really cool. Yeah,
same shirt is last night, peace side. And then and
then just about that hit the gas and went like
Initially I was a little worried that ooh, don't hit anybody,
like you know what I mean, like you want to
do the hit get like I dropped the mic moment.
But he only hit it for a little bit and
then he goes I was like, oh, wow, like that.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
That's pretty good.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Same shirt is last night? Because it's it's a black shirt,
said Equinox. It's on it's a black shirt with Equinox
on it.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
That's all. There they go. So that's pretty good. I
thought you liked I like that. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Where we sit right now in the NBA eight minutes
to go in the fourth quarter of the Knicks have
a ninety two to ninety one lead over the Sixers.
They hit a couple of threes, but Buddy Heel just
will not be denied. He continues to hit shots despite
the fact that it makes no sense that he hit shots.
It's not twenty sixteen, but Buddy Heeled with twenty off
the bench for the Sixers, keeping them in this game,
(05:27):
and it's a one point game. Again, a lot of
time left here, though.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Can I just make one quick observation before we get
to the next topic on the agenda, is the first
two minutes of this fourth quarter, we're being played as
if they were going to get bonus points. Right, every shot,
every possession had to be fast. You had to be
moving at a breakneck pace. Like no, no, you can
still run an offensive set. It's the beginning of the
(05:50):
fourth quarter.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
Like, what are we doing?
Speaker 3 (05:53):
I mean the you know, watching the game, now go.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
The Sixers have sort of slowed down a little bit
from three, but what they're doing that's keeping them in
this Now, yes, buddy heel keeps hitting a three every
couple of minutes, but they are getting the offensive rebounds
that the Knicks have been getting.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
All series, right, a lot of.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
And look that happens a lot because when you miss
from three, it's a longer rebound. But sometimes there's plays
where there's no nick near this ball, right, and it's
saw a second chance points for the Sixer. So again
it's a two point game. The nixt lead at ninety
five to ninety three, seven minutes to go in the
fourth quarter. Again, a long way to go. But speaking
of a long way to go, let's break down just
whit Howent's on none of that? That's like, that's like,
(06:32):
you know, well, that's like the the the Iron Man
and Nebula trip from Titan back home.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
You know what.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
I'm just gonna sit here the whole time going wait
for October? Too long, man, get you back in October?
Can you holdster that one? That's for six months? Harmon,
that's too long?
Speaker 1 (06:48):
That's the White Sox trip to contention is iron Man
and Nebula from Titan back to back to Earth. So
the Pittsburgh Steelers had too curious to decisions today or
developments today. And I just think, boy, I give the
Steelers credit for being one of the best run organizations
in the NFL, but I see today and I go,
(07:10):
I don't know what the hell they're doing. I really
can't believe there's an idea that was thrown out there
that we're going to get to in a second. All right, now,
this is the big NFL news of the day. The Steelers.
Lots of players have their fifty year option, lots of rookies.
The decision is up. Are they the teams going to
exercise their option or not. We saw the story a
couple of days ago. The Broncos said no, we're not
paying Zach Wilson for the fifth year. And with Cowboys
(07:31):
not doing the same with Tray. It's been a bunch
of guys.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
Here's Naji Harris not getting his fifth year option picked up.
This is a guy that's been a thousand yard back
for the Steelers. He's not great. He's a very workman
like back. He's not a breakaway back, but he is productive.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Much better steel Yeah, and the Steelers are built on
having both he and Jalen Warren playing well out.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
Of the backfield, right, Naji Harris is the grinder, warrens
the home run hitter, and Harris is the goal line back.
But it really surprised me that, hey, we're not picking
up the fifty year option on Naji Harris because hey,
this is a guy you've built the offense around the
last couple of years. Now in and of itself, is
that unbelievably incredible. No, he's a running back and you
have a running back in Jalen Warren. You're not really
paying him, So okay, weird because you're built around this
(08:19):
running attack. But okay, but churning Burne running backs not
a terrible philosophy, No, no, no, it's how many guys
really excel once they get to their second deal.
Speaker 4 (08:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (08:30):
Nu, it's just.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
Weird that you would keep Naji Harris on a pretty
okay number for the fifth year of his contract when
he's been productive and he's still young, Like that was
a bit of a shot. But again, running back, okay,
But then we had this Jalen Warren goes on a
podcast and it's called not just football, and he's answering
(08:53):
questions all Steelers and they bring up, hey, with the
new kickoff rules, are you going to turn kicks this year?
And Jalen Warren kind of laughed like, no, no, no, no,
because the new kickoff rules are nobody can move until
the ball is good.
Speaker 5 (09:07):
Hey, look we might actually get some returns.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Again, there's less injuries going to be because guys can't run,
they're starting closer downfield. So are you going to be
able to return kickoffs? Because it gets you the ball
and open field. It also you don't have to worry
about guys bearing down on you. And he'd seeking missiles
and if a guy misses the block, forget it, you're cooked.
So he's doing a podcast today and he's asked about
(09:32):
that and Jalen Warren says, well, actually, our special teams
coach was floating around the idea of putting justin Fields
back there, and it was met with.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
A why why are you talking?
Speaker 7 (09:42):
What?
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Yeah, floating around the idea of justin fields and Warren says.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Well, yeah, if it happens, I love it.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
But just think about that for a second. A guy
that the Steelers, whether they realize it or not. He's
going to be their starting quarterback for the majority of
the season because Russell Wilson is washed. I don't understand
the to Wilson like he's a guy that's a bridge guy.
He's a bridge player. He's gonna get you for the
first couple games of the season and then when you
think it's time, Justin Fields is the more dynamic player,
(10:11):
and he's the better quarterback, right, He's gonna give you
more production. But this fealty towards Russell Wilson, I just
don't understand. He's a guy that the Broncos are paying
all kinds of cash to not play for them, all
the draft picks they gave up, They're okay with him
not playing for him. I don't think the Steelers are
looking at this right. They're looking like, oh, we got
a great guy.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
No, you can't just look at his highlights from twenty
seventeen or look at his football card and say, boy,
what a great guy we got.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
Justin Fields is a good quarterback and you put on
here and he starts. I'm telling you the Steelers can
make a run to the AFC title game because him
with all of these weapons around him. Watch how athletic.
This offense is stretching the field up and down.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
Right.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
They did some great stuff in the draft. That a
phenomenal draft. They already have the weapons on offense. He's
going to be their quarterback. Why the hell would that
even come up? Justin Fields play, I mean, make absolutely
no sense. Justin Field's gonna return kicks.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
He's a got.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
I mean, if you had a real quarterback derby in
the preseason, Justin Fields would win it. Now it's not
going to be because nobody plays in games anymore. So
I'm sure Wilson's gonna start the season because they say, oh,
Russell Wilson's a guy, But I think it's gonna be
three weeks before they say, hey, we gotta go to
Justin Fields.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
Now.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
I can't believe that this has been thrown out there,
that yeah, we're gonna put them on special teams and no,
we're not going to exercise the option on his last
year of his deal because that would upset Russell Wilson.
I don't get the fealty to Wilson when they know
that Justin Fields is going to be their future.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
I wasn't surprised at the option one of twelve thirteen
guys that didn't have it picked up again. The draft class,
the COVID Draft class, whatever we're gonna call it, one
of those that is going to have its own books
written about the decision making processes and incomplete information, et cetera.
But with Fields, I have to wonder if the Special
(11:56):
Teams coach didn't, you know, from in acknowledging the rules
and kind of making now what's going on boysted back
there would be exciting, wouldn't he and just kind of
threw it out there kind of half ass as a
think about a playmaker like that in kickoff returns with
how it's going to be and and what the rules
are for twenty twenty four, because if he's truly serious,
(12:16):
he needs to be fired immediately. So I'm gonna take
it with a great assault that it was kind of
a joke, and then Jalen Warren decided, hey, you know what,
that'd be kind of an interesting, you know, talking point
and to really get the tongues wagging in my name
out there, which he does.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
They might as well let him do it. They didn't
pick up his fifty year option.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
Yeah, I mean really well, and you know why they
didn't do it because I would just piss off Russell Wilson, like, oh,
you picked up his option so you know you're gonna
keep him on the team next year.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
Hey, they're they're paid. Why because that's gonna upset you.
That's gonna upset Russell Wilson. Or you gotta compete for
your job. Dude, you're not the same guy. And like
I mean the Steelers bending over backwards for Russell Wilson
when by week five he's gonna be sitting on the bed.
No fine, But like with Fields, I mean, you're gonna
pick up the option to where you're guaranteeing him whatever
it is, twenty five million. You can't do that just financially.
(13:06):
Would not be prudent at this juncture. Even if you're
not paying, did you really just go? You really went?
Dana Carvey as president, I would not be prudent at
this jud at.
Speaker 5 (13:15):
This junket, would not be prudent.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
Prude. That's pretty funny, though, I'm not prudent at this legitimately,
even even if you're not into into into Wilson for real,
any real money you've got it spelled spent elsewhere.
Speaker 5 (13:27):
It's not like you're sitting out a giant satchel of cash.
Speaker 7 (13:30):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
And for Fields, it becomes the you know, wait and
see right as obviously there wasn't a monster market to
go and trade for him, as we surmised right that
once we saw things starting to come into shape, and
then certainly as Caleb Williams was the guy, and they decided,
you know what, we're not even gonna have this in
(13:52):
the locker room because a lot of players were loyal
to Fields. Uh and you might have had an issue
with the Steelers. You don't have that, but certainly you're
creating more and Jalen Wi Warren did not help anything
today in any terms of perception. I again, I think
it's tongue in cheek would be great.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
But yeah, but if it is it a one thing,
if is it a one line thing, that's but that's
a special teams meeting, that that gets out like that's
more than just a guy making a joke like that's
where the jab because this just gets to the running
back the running back room.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
And he's okay saying it on a pope, but he's
been part of the special teams, right, and so war
Warren's been part of that, which is what he was
answering of.
Speaker 5 (14:30):
He you know, hey, it's not gonna be men.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
This is Steeler's decision after decision, where I go, Are
you really making the call what's best for the team?
Are you really making what's called the best for the team?
Speaker 5 (14:41):
Really?
Speaker 1 (14:41):
I get Look, I get lots of things in the
NFL and not being in the locker room. I understand
when sometimes you got to move on from a player
you have to. But Russell Wilson is coming in with
zero cashe and you're treating him like, hey, we just
got Brady from the Sea.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
Still Russell Wilson.
Speaker 3 (14:55):
I mean, come on, man, you remember Russell Wilson. Just wait,
just wait, Chineese.
Speaker 4 (14:59):
Maybe let's go.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
Wait actual work on his ass off exit swelling down
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.
Five minutes to go in the fourth quarter, Nix on

Speaker 2 (16:06):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
Right now. The Knicks, they rule the world.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
They're up by eight with three twenty to go. Jalen
Brunson thirty seven.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
He's making all kinds of shots, but not from three.
Speaker 5 (16:27):
In a couple of threes. Bo yeah, a couple of daggers.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
I mean he's shot terribly early and all of a
sudden in the fourth quarter at my signal, unleash hells.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Jalen Brunson time couple of big shots. Three minutes ago
in the fourth quarter. The Knicks lead Scott Foster in
the seventy six ers one oh seven to one hundred when.
Speaker 5 (16:46):
He really hasn't done his job today.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Well, you're waiting for Scott Foster time. He's waiting. Listen,
Scott Foster's been officiating a long time. He can't just
dominate games from the jump anymore. You got to pick
your spots when I get older. You can't just say
right away boom suddenly. No, it's got to become a
Scott Fitzster game.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
Forty five minutes. Though I know, I know, buddy, but
you never Hey, sometimes the game's the last three couple leads.
That's all it is, right, especially this series. Yeah, it's
all uh, one oh seven to one hundred.
Speaker 4 (17:13):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
The Knicks lead the Sixers again three and a half
to go, are three thirteen to go.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
In the fourth quarter.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
Jalen Brunson has heated up and he has hit a
couple of huge shots for the Knicks.
Speaker 4 (17:24):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
It really has been some kind of push back after
it looked like the Sixers in the third quarter we're
gonna run away with this game. Like the Knicks had
that big lead to start the game. They are out
twenty eight to nine, and.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
It looked like, boy, this is just gonna be a
boat race, and that's all that's gonna happen. And then
the Sixers get twenty sixteen prime Buddy Healed, who comes
off the bench and can't miss from three point range,
and he shoots the Sixers.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Back into it. They take the lead at halftime.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
They were up by ten at one point in the
third quarter, and then the Knicks started to settle and
this became a close game, which is what most of
the series has been. Now, the Knicks had a couple
of big shot Stevencenzo's got twenty one. Now he's got
five threes, and they lead by six with just under
three minutes left to go. Nick Show, Nick Show, Uh
look I am i I'll be I'll be the first
(18:11):
guy to tell you right now. I am just absolutely insane.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
Right now.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
My whole body is just vibrating because can we hold
on to this lead?
Speaker 4 (18:19):
Now?
Speaker 3 (18:19):
Can we hold on? You're not as good as that
guy sitting court side though, with the orange shirt, who
is doing everything he can to try to get someone
to hit it, because he has jumped up on the
court every big shot from the Knicks.
Speaker 5 (18:31):
He is running around like a dang pool.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
Well, you show me the video. There is a there
was a big fight, Yes, corridors.
Speaker 5 (18:37):
Yeah, they had a couple of folks escorted.
Speaker 1 (18:39):
Yeah, the Knicks at the free throw line, o Gianno
Nobi misses, it would have been an end one. So
it's a one o nine, one oh one lead for
the Knicks. Just around two minutes ago in the fourth quarter,
things are starting to get a little bit nervous for
the seventy six ers, although this is when they do
their best work, so there is that sure party get
the Red Sea though for for og there though, come on,
(19:02):
everybody looking around.
Speaker 5 (19:03):
It's like anybody gonna stop the lane.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
And nope, And just like that five point game, yup,
Kelly Ubray is now hitting threes. I look, buddy healed
and Nicholas Batum came off the bench. They have twenty
and sixteen points.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
Right.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
The Sixers off the bench tonight are outscoring the Knicks
forty three to five.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
Yeah, like that's where it's at.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
Like the Knicks starters are all playing well, but they've
only played seven It's like watching Syracuse and Jim Beheim
when nobody else gets on the floor. But the Sixers
bench has absolutely saved them tonight. It's been a bad
night for Tyrese Maxi even though he just goes in
for a hoop right there. It's a three point game
with two minutes left to go. He is five for
eighteen from the floor. But look the Sixers hitting their threes,
(19:43):
and you talk about Batoomb and Healed and Ubra and
it's just come on, Really, these guys, I feel like
they haven't missed a three the entire last three quarters
of this game.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
Psychologically, it has been very difficult for you to get
past that. What it's been interesting to watch, though, is
like nobody's tried to force Jalen Brunson when he's starting
to drive to switch the ball to.
Speaker 5 (20:04):
His right hand and all it's like, here, you can
have this left.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
It's like watching Jaylen Brown the other way right when
we watched the Celtics, always that conversation. But for the Sixers,
go back to the big man and try to bring
it down low and stretch the d a bit. Oh
big dunk on a follow by the Sixers. It's a
(20:26):
one point Nicks lead right now with a minute left
to go. They have the ball.
Speaker 4 (20:31):
Look, this is Fenley up and chain.
Speaker 5 (20:33):
Everybody listen.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
I got look, I'm okay, I got big shoulders. I
could take the hate. I could take the hate. It's okay.
I could take it. It's fine. I take the hate.
It's fine if that's what it takes, and we win.
And I could just sit here and look at Fendley and.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
You and say, go New York, Go New York Coat,
Go New York, Go New York coat.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
Yeah no, I'm okay with that. I got big shoulders.
I could take the hate. I'm alright with that.
Speaker 4 (20:55):
I already know. Look, I already know.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
There's such a huge anti Nick's bias across the cut.
Speaker 5 (21:01):
It's yeah, crossing.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Well, it's because some of you guys that claim to
be fans aren't terribly bright when it comes to the
actual team. Oh, Dylen Bron said, and what you superstar?
Speaker 4 (21:15):
Take a seat, Obray.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
Yeah, you guys are all quiet on that said shot. Ever, Yeah, yeah, hey,
he followed him long before that shot. Hey, hey, justin,
I just saw Doc Rivers was seen hanging out with.
Speaker 4 (21:31):
Jam running under the dabasket doesn't count.
Speaker 3 (21:35):
Do you think that maybe Scott Foster.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
It's like the movie's Sudden Death with John Claude Van
Dam where it's not really Scott Foster refereeing Oh Shait
a minute.
Speaker 3 (21:43):
He's supposed to be making these calls with the Sixers.
Speaker 4 (21:45):
What's happening here?
Speaker 5 (21:46):
I don't understand, Enrico Palazzo.
Speaker 3 (21:48):
I don't understand. Is Doc Rivers heading to your equinox
to go try to find Magic.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
Johnson or oh dude, Doc Rivers. Right now he's on
the phone going, hey, you see the job I did
hear with the Bucks. I know we didn't win, but
I think I got a lot to offer Lebron and
ad I really do.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
I really They put him back in a broadcasting chair
now that he's done.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
I really do.
Speaker 5 (22:07):
Anyway, it'd be good if your guys could actually hit
a free throw.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
No, and that's killing us because the Knicks from the
free throw line are not good tonight. Brunson just misses
a three that would have given the Knicks a four
point lead. They are fourteen out of twenty from the
free throw line tonight. Meanwhile, the Sixers are nineteen out
of twenty. So it's a big deal. You got to
be able to make those shots, and you got to
be able to make those those free throws. They need
a couple of more here, and it's gonna wind up
(22:32):
being a one point game.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Max, He's going.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
To the free throw line with about thirty four seconds
left to go. If he makes them both, it's gonna
wind up a one eleven, one ten lead for the Knicks.
And look, he had contact down low. It's happened. This
is where the game should be looking for goaltending. Is
the decision that needs to be made.
Speaker 6 (22:51):
Yeah, yeah, Scott Foster has never been so sure of anything.
Uh yeah, they could call for goaltending here call it
MAXI goes up, Devincenzo goes up for the block.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
And now I don't know about that. It looked like
Hartenstein got it before it hit the backboard.
Speaker 4 (23:11):
Was off the back.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
I don't think it was off the backboard. Yeah, and
the back That's tough to make that a that's tough
to make that a A A goaltender again is he's
one of the greatest backups of all time.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
But again it's Scott Foster. Okay, just again, it's it's
it's Scott Foster. So it's a they they have called
it a goaltend, I believe. And it's a one eleven,
one ten game right now with the Knicks with the lead,
and there are thirty four seconds left.
Speaker 5 (23:40):
To go that maxiohead to the line regardless.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
They're look they're looking at it right now to see
if it is in fact a goaltend or not. And
the ball doesn't hit the backboard like Hartenstein touches it
before it hits the Yeah, he actually pushes it to
the backboard. Do you think of that, Scott Foster, he's
gonna say, I don't see it. I don't see it.
I mean he gets it. Yeah, I know it's off.
It's it's hitting the glass as he touched it. No,
(24:04):
if he touches it before, he's already gone with it
before it HiT's hit the rewind you look at This
is a horrible angle they keep showing on TV from
the top.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
You can't really tell that.
Speaker 6 (24:14):
Uh, but that's actually a great angle because it shows
it getting pinned on the glass.
Speaker 4 (24:17):
That's goltender.
Speaker 3 (24:18):
No.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
No, if you pin it, it's not goaltending pin it up.
Absolutely no, it's you because that's you touching it first.
You're pinning it.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
That's no. Not as if it comes it's got it's
gotta hit the glass, and got hit the glass and
come back and then you touch it.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
Scott Foster thinks it.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
Did well, Scott Foster is gonna think a lot of
I think this is like Pete Alonzo, uh, coming home
against the Cubs yesterday. Maybebe you could say tyg gos
to the runner, but you called it the other way.
Speaker 4 (24:44):
Yeah, Scott Foster counted it.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
Scott Foster is uh, he's counting the basket.
Speaker 4 (24:49):
He's counting it.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
He's counting the basket.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
So one eleven, one ten, Uh, the Nicks with the
lead and Tyrese Max he gonna be going to the
free throw line for a three throw for free throw third,
four and a half seconds left to go in this game.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
Whatever.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
I mean, I don't know how you can look at
that and say, okay, it's it's goaltending.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
But whatever. Well, again they called it on the court,
Like I said, it's the beat Alonso call whatever.
Speaker 5 (25:12):
You're not overturning it.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
Whatever means. That's why you have replay, all right now
you're already getting the acid watched with the tomato sauce
on your You have replay for a reason.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
I'm that we can't tell all those angles. You can't
tell now, you can't.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
Tell it for thin.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
Yeah, we can't really tell.
Speaker 5 (25:28):
I really couldn't doubt. Could you put a piece of paper,
but you are where the ball was.
Speaker 3 (25:31):
You have all kinds of angles, and you say, oh no,
we still can't tell.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Maybe you need one more.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
Can't tell, can't tell.
Speaker 4 (25:37):
Maybe he went right on the rim, right on the
back of the iron.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
MAXI makes the free throw time out on the floor
right now, thirty four seconds left to go. Nix lead
the Sixers. Sorry Nicks, and the Sixers now tied at
one eleven. That Knicks eight point lead disappears thanks to
miss free throws by the Knicks. Look gets you trying
to give the next extra points? Well, I'll give him
whatever I need to. I just give him five more.
Nick lead one, sixteen to one to eleven. I just
did that right there, just that it was the spread
(26:02):
of this game. So now if you're the Sixers, let's
play this out here. Thanks twenty four seconds. The Knicks
are missing a lot of free throws. Yeah, I go
in for a quick two one fourteen, one thirteen, and
I foul and I put the Knicks on the free
throw line.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
I get it to.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
MAXI to go win for a quick two or look
for a big pass. Download to EMBIID cut it to
one and make the Knicks hit free throws. They're having
trouble doing it tonight. That's what I do right now.
Speaker 3 (26:26):
If I'm nick nurse, See who you can find that
looks a bit nervous out there.
Speaker 4 (26:32):
I don't really want the ball.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
I don't really want to shoot anything.
Speaker 5 (26:35):
Oh boy, I don't want to go really nervous.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
I don't look it.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
Man. There's a lot of soccer teams, even than their
best players, don't want to line.
Speaker 5 (26:42):
Up for K's right.
Speaker 6 (26:43):
The real question, guys, Yeah, at what point here in
the next twenty seconds, says Embid.
Speaker 4 (26:48):
Go full heel and put on a next jersey.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
Or does he hit somebody in the face. So they
did the easy two, like you called.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
They did the.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Easy two, and Bead went in for a layup, and
they're not fouling.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
They don't want to foul.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
Brunson and the Knicks are able to take some time
off the clock. Here, there's eleven seconds left to go,
and finally the Sixers foul. They led about ten seconds. Wow,
tick off the clock. The Knicks looked like they.
Speaker 4 (27:14):
Could have to keep away right.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
The Knicks looked like they could have had a breakaway layup,
except the pass down low was a little bit too much.
Was all they could do to keep it in bounce ye,
but they're looking to They swing it back out and
Devincenzo gets fouled. Eleven seconds left to go, the Knicks
of the one fourteen, one to thirteen lead. Devincenzo gets
a pass to Josh Hart that looks like it you
could go for a layup, but the Sixers get a
(27:38):
hand on it and deflect it. So instead of Devincenzo
grabbing it in stride for a layup, he's Josh Hart
has to grab it. Sorry, Josh Hart, not Devincenzo. Josh
Hart has to grab it, pass it back out. Devincenzo
gets fouled. He goes to the free throw line. Eleven
seconds left to go. The Knicks lead at one fourteen.
All the pressure on the Knicks right now, Come.
Speaker 4 (27:57):
On, all the pressure.
Speaker 1 (27:59):
Come on, dude, David Jensen, I watched Villanova win national championships.
Come on, We're good, We're good. We get the Villanova.
Nicks are gonna do it. I'm watching this TNT broadcast.
It's like Arnie Harris back in day baseball with Harry Carey.
Happy birthday, Harry would have been one hundred and ten
today where all of a sudden it being in the
middle of action and there'd be the camera and a
bunch of women.
Speaker 5 (28:19):
Yeah, and then Harry and go.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
Hey, back when that was something you could do on
a broadcast and it was yeah, that doesn't that didn't age.
Speaker 5 (28:26):
Now ever since Brad Musberger had his moment, I think
that kind of handed it.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
Yea, but yeah, Harney, Arney Harris. That was the famous thing.
It's like, all right, are we gonna find it the bleachers?
That's on the secondary camera, but now let's put it
on the top side.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
Devincenzo hits both free throws the Knicks with a three
point lead, ten seconds left, and hey, look at the Knicks.
Speaker 4 (28:46):
They foul in the back.
Speaker 5 (28:47):
Court, wore shooting well like they should have been.
Speaker 4 (28:49):
Doing a long time with the love the game.
Speaker 5 (28:52):
Three shots and Maxie really sold that.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
I mean, come on, uh so the Knicks foul in
the back court, Maxie's gonna go to the free throw
line again, sixers down three with ten seconds left, Probably
a little too early to do the make one, try
to miss and get the rebound because there's still ten
seconds left. Maybe the next time down the court if
that happens, but it could be. Look, we've seen teams
(29:15):
try to do it before. He saw Philadelphia try to
do it in Game two and it didn't work, So
you know that could be. What happens here depends on
the first free throw and it goes and Maxi goes
and it hits it. So it's one sixteen, one fourteen
now with ten seconds left to go.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
How they not figure out how to get John Stewart,
Tracy Morgan and all those guys front row for this one?
Speaker 1 (29:35):
I think they bought all the tickets. Don't sell them
to these guys. Think that's what it was.
Speaker 3 (29:39):
We're gonna be Nobody recognizes Jason Bateman at this moment.
Speaker 4 (29:42):
To these guys, he's kind of looking like the wolf.
So don't sell them U.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Maxi makes both free throws.
Speaker 1 (29:51):
The Knicks get the ball back and they inbout it
to Jalen Brunson, who is fouled. He is heading to
the free throw line right now, seven and a half
second is left to go. Knicks lead the Sixers one sixteen,
one fifteen.
Speaker 3 (30:04):
Really half fast job trying to deny him the ball though,
well you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
Players find a way to get the ball right, good,
They find a way. They find a way to get
the ball, and Jalen Brunson gets the ball. Look, it's
not like Brunson's been great from the free throw He's
missed fortnite. He's been more than nick tonight. He's ten
out of fourteen from the free throw line. So if
you're gonna foul a guy, okay, maybe this is not
his night from the free throw line. So Brunson will
head to the free throw line again. Seven and a
half seconds left to go, the Knicks with a one
(30:31):
point lead. He made the first, so now we'll be
taking the second one seventeen one fifteen.
Speaker 5 (30:39):
How about how fast do you think his heart's beaten inside?
Speaker 4 (30:42):
Right?
Speaker 5 (30:43):
I was reading a study yesterday about you know when.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
You're angry that hours later you're still at an elevated
opportunity for a bad evituation.
Speaker 5 (30:52):
It's out of him right now watching this game.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
So Jalen Brunson makes both free throws and the ball
that goes in bounds, the Sixers have a tough time
getting it over in bounds.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
It is out of bounds.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
They have the ball with three and a half seconds left,
to go. The Knicks rush tyres Maxi, who picked up
his dribble, had a tough time getting rid of it.
The ball got deflected out of bounds.
Speaker 4 (31:15):
Three and a half.
Speaker 3 (31:16):
Left to go.
Speaker 1 (31:16):
It's gonna be a three pointer or nothing for the
Sixers to try to send this game to overtime. And
I'm not going to do play by play. You're gonna
see marsh and you're gonna listen to it right now.
Speaker 3 (31:29):
Go New York O, New York Coat, Go New York O,
New York Coat, Go New York, New York Coat. We
gotta go. We gotta brank co.
Speaker 4 (31:36):

Speaker 3 (32:15):
Five second dance Party, Go New York, Go New York.
Speaker 4 (32:20):
Coat go New York, Go New York. Goat going home.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
E An Eagle on the call. The Knicks beat the
Sixers one eighteen one fifteen. See you Monday at the Garden, Indiana.
Good luck you wish time, get count you. This is
Reggie Miller revenge coming up right now. You just wait,
you wait and see what's not how this worked? Oh,
sure it does. He's gonna be on TV do it
all kinds of just wait, just wait, Go New York,
(32:45):
Go New York, Goat, go new Now, let's be a
long time since he just throws shots. There's no revenge
on him. No, no, no, dude, we're gonna.
Speaker 5 (32:53):
He and the dunkin Dutchman are not walking through the door.
Speaker 1 (32:56):
To see that video a million times between now and
and and the start of the series on Monday, and
it's still Spike Lee's fault.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
Well, if you watch for it, yeah you'll see it.
If you're like me, you'll do your damness.
Speaker 4 (33:08):
You avoid it.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
Now.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
Two big observations here. After the next win, right, I've
had some time to be a little bit of a lunatic.
I've had celebratory pizza now here.
Speaker 2 (33:17):
It is.
Speaker 3 (33:19):
Celebratory diet coke right here, pop a top go diet
coke go, because I did invite you, I mean after
the show, I mean the celebratory beer if you'd like
him being you know what this diet code text, like,
what's that buddy? Victory?
Speaker 4 (33:33):
This tastes like victory.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
Two things Number one, that kid looks huge in your
panna hand. The Villanova trio. Brunson has forty one, Devincenzo
twenty three, the big free throws late Josh hart Is sixteen,
fourteen and seven had the Big three to get huge.
You give them the Yeah, I gotta say this, and I
really we should get Jay right on the show because
I'm thinking Villanova under achieved a little bit here. Yeah yeah,
(33:57):
two national titles.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
I don't know what.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
These guys probably had a couple more. I mean, Jay Wright,
what did you do? Man? I mean really, what did you.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
Do when the rules changed?
Speaker 5 (34:06):
Because he didn't like what was coming?
Speaker 3 (34:07):
Yeah, but I mean he should have won a couple
more with these guys. These guys are gonna get the
next to the NBA Finals. And instead of maybe they
should have won a little bit more.
Speaker 4 (34:15):
This is why people hate the Knicks.
Speaker 3 (34:16):
Mic, it should have went a little bit more, maybe already, like.
Speaker 4 (34:19):
They won the championship after the first.
Speaker 5 (34:21):
Round, three stepped poles, still out there.
Speaker 4 (34:24):
They act like you've been there, but you have no dude.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
After Game one they were yelling, we want Boston and
Madison Square, climbing across all the marquees on Broadway. That's
how just Reggie Miller, that's how Nick fans roll. Man,
you're gonna stop. Nick Fans will be fine. Reggie sixty
years old will be fine. It'll be absolutely fine. The
other thing is this, and this is this is the
big observation is that, well, Reggie is still a catch
(34:49):
and shoot guys.
Speaker 3 (34:49):
So I don't know, but it's the Knicks to root
for them and to pull for them. This is something
that the rest of the country is seen now, maybe
for the first time in an extended look this show.
Speaker 5 (35:03):
If it wasn't for you, oh it wasn't for me.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
No.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
What I'm saying is the team on the floor. Forget
about a big mouth guy like me going.
Speaker 3 (35:08):
Go New York or that other guy that saw Devincenzo
come off the bench with such an effort tonight, boy,
I tell you go New York.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
But you can tell that the Knicks oftentimes will themselves
to victory.
Speaker 3 (35:21):
There is no quit there.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
You can have the game when you take it from
their cold, dead hands. Right, that's that's when you that's
when you can beat the Knicks. So Tomieau style for
so many, so many teams to watch to see this
style of.
Speaker 3 (35:34):
Play, like this is what New York was in the nineties.
They were always very physical.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
This is what turned them into a big franchise that
even though they couldn't get past the bulls. But when
you see them play this way and always efforting for
every offensive rebound and hitting big shots, and you see
how much they genuinely like each other and want to
root for each other. These are teammates for a long
time and guys they welcome in like Anonobi and Hertenstein
who had a big game, an easy team to pull
(36:01):
for right. Forget about the again, forget about the loudmouse,
but their style of play and there their desire on
every single play to get the basketball and hit the shot,
never give up. Like that's something that cuts through for
every single sports fan out there. I don't care who
you root for.
Speaker 3 (36:14):
You know the other day we had the great bee
Caper right with the Dodger game. They sold seventeen thousand
of that card, by the way, Frostburg of the bee Keepers.
They sold seventeen thousand of those Beekeeper cards. I don't
know buy all of them. No, I didn't buy a one.
And then they were selling the hot dog ones for
the Mets fans today.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
Either way, in front of a World War two veteran,
that's smart.
Speaker 5 (36:37):
Well, you know what he leaned into it.
Speaker 3 (36:38):
He got he got paid.
Speaker 1 (36:39):
Yeah, no, no, no, anyway, so paid Seymour Wiener for that
trust place.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
So I brought out the old Randy Travis song smoking
the Hive, him and Clint Eastwood, all of that. But
when I had that in my shuffle, and then it
got to the next next song, it was Alabama and
they had this thing called America, let me thank you
for your Time, and they start naming all the the workers,
you know, the blue collar workers across America, truck drivers
(37:04):
and people on the third shift and all of that stuff,
and then you know, in America, let me thank you
for your time.
Speaker 5 (37:10):
And that's what the Knicks are, blue collar guys. They
are they are.
Speaker 3 (37:14):
Look, it's it's almost like it's like the nineties, except
you know they score a little bit more and that
was there right ago, right well that but but still
you remember has like everybody remembers because of because of
the the failure thirty no in twenty twenty on the
Bulls died, So I remember all the balls Knicks lost. Uh.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
Coming up next, more on the biggest story in the
sports world right here, Knicks and the Sixers.
Speaker 3 (37:36):
Knicks are moving on. Go New York, Go, New York.
Speaker 7 (37:38):
Go.
