our schedule programming in a second, but just something really
let me pull back the curtain here for a second.
You know, we're a big family here at Fox Sports Radio,
especially the crew that's here tonight. We've all been together
for a long time. Family, and Shay and Brie have
(01:02):
been two phenomenal editors and producers working over the last
few months, and you know, it's it's great, but sometimes
I feel like we're living in a bleeping frat house.
And this from a guy who's never lived in a
frat house.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Because like, I go.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Into the kitchen, which is a communal kitchen used by
all of us, because I just want to put a
heater on my coffee, right.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
I mean, there's my moffee machine.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
I got a refrigerator, and people use as their personal one,
which I'm convinced they don't own one at home, so
they just stuff it here.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Yeah, the only thing we're missing is a cow, right,
Like you just put your glass and get the milk
and drink it. And so I just want to put
this in. I just want to heat up my drink,
and I put it in a heat at my drink,
and all of a sudden, the kitchen smells like feet,
Like there is this unbelievable smell just emanating from the
from the microwave, and it just smells like feet. Like
(01:50):
Ryan earlier, I'm like, who the hell uses? So I
win and I and I I shirt, what did.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
You put in this microwave? What kind of food did
you buy? Did you put it in? And he said, whoa, whoa.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
I don't use the microwave. It's not healthy. I'm like, I, well,
we'll put that party away for a second. You didn't
use a microwave. No, no, no, I'm like, okay, yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
You saw how he recoiled in his seat. You offended
his sensibility.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
You don't know me at all the microwave.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
And I'm good because the whole you walk in, it's
you want to walk in right now?
Speaker 3 (02:17):
While I talk and smell it smells like feet?
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Can I can?
Speaker 3 (02:20):
I just I'll pull back the curtain a little more.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
Remember years ago, I had some some health stuff and
I don't have a sense of smell since pre COVID.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Really, so you couldn't smell that feet? Well, you're lucky.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Yeah, you're lucky every once in a while like clears.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
But I've got a sinus thing that is baffling me.
So I'm like, who the hell used it? Right? And
I'm like, okay, well, no one's gonna own up to this.
Speaker 5 (02:41):
No.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
But then Brianna decides to throw Shay under the bus
and say, oh, hey, Shay warmed up pasta in there
a few minutes ago.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
I'm like, ah, what the hell was in the pasta? Feet?
Speaker 1 (02:51):
It must have been a feet pasta fool have been
the next fart.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
That is true one of the fine stories of the day.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
It inspires them game five and inspires a microwave.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Here, but legitimately, like, what the hell is in the pasta?
Then I don't know feet.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
I think it was feet sprouts, maybe socks, maybe shay.
The sauce was just, hey, gym socked that he worked
out in and then he just like wrung it out
over the pasta put it in the microwave.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
And that's like, why do you know the smell so good?
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
No, I'm just saying what smell like? I know what
the smell. I know what feet smell like ketchup and onions.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
I did.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
I would love if it smelled like ketchup and onions.
Man would spell like McDonald's in my house is great?
Speaker 3 (03:31):
No, no, no, no, no no.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
We found you your holiday holiday holiday yesterday, right Frostburg.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
I sent you that picture. It's glorious. I just hope
it's big enough.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
No, And that guy's got a dome on him. I
may end up having to have to have one customized.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
Before feet out of the microwave.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
Man it's well, how's the you're still drinking from the cup?
Speaker 3 (03:54):
Well, because so obviously you didn't abandon your middle. I
pulled it out right away.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
I'm like, how goot you playing.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
For that coffee that you got? I gotta pull the
bigger and clutch you out.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
I don't know six bucks, I guess, I don't know,
but I'm like, I gotta pull it out, drink it.
I don't care if it's still somewhat cool. I'll drink
it because I can't sit there and have that wafting
feet smell hit me.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
I can't do it. Man. You know where the smell
went though? It was? It went right into my face.
And no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
No, My my coffee smelled because I still the top
on it, so it's not gonna get in so I
can see the corn ands from you.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Yeah, okay, okay.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
You want a great foot story. You want a great
foot story. This is a great foot story.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
So touch that. No, no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
So in college, I live with my dad, right, you're
gonna love this. Oh my god, he's gonna hate me
telling the story, but I don't care because it's funny.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
So, my dad, how do I explain this? Former friend
of the shop. No, friend of the show.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
If you look, if you look at my dad's thumbs
and big toes, he has the widest nails of anybody.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
I'd never seen flat nails. It's like three It's like three.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Inches side to side, like a regular length, but like
three inches side to side. So my dad gets huge nails.
If you would take a picture and said, I'd put
it up on Twitter. My dad has huge nails, even
Zoe saw when she was young. Dad Grandpa's nails are
really wide.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Yeah, he does. I don't know what it is. He's
got the gene for really wide nails.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
So I live with my dad and one day I
don't know what I was middle of the day, I I, no, No,
it was at night. I gotten home from work. My
dad worked during the day, usually worked at night, and
cause I was working at Blockbuster Video. And I come
home and I'm walking in the in the in the
living room and I step and I go, oh, my god,
I stepped on a piece of glad.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
What the hell?
Speaker 1 (05:41):
And I take it on a couple steps and I go,
oh man, what, I oh God, what have I stepped on?
My foot's got to be bleeding. And I look and
it's toenails. And I'm like, and I'm like, what the
hell is this? I go to what so? So my
dad comes home and I go, Dad, I go, uh,
what's going on here?
Speaker 3 (05:59):
I thought it was a slice my foot open? What
do you mean? I go? Are these your toenails that
are sharp as hell? Like? Like like like like spikes
coming up out of the out of the the the carpet.
Speaker 6 (06:09):
Here.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
He goes, oh, yeah, sorry, I I clipped my toenails,
you know, sitting on the couch you the night. Some
must have popped out and I missed him getting him
throw them away? I go, you think you did?
Speaker 2 (06:19):
You think I might?
Speaker 1 (06:22):
I might have missed a couple. It was like trip wires.
I gonna watch right step. It's like in the movies
where they go if you take a step in someone
else's footsteps, the bomb's not gonna go off. But once
there's nobody else plays a step, you're in trouble. Right.
You see the guy freezes it's the snow and it's
going in. I'm like, I don't know if I can
step by. I gotta put on my shoes and.
Speaker 6 (06:40):
Dad lays those out instead of tiktaks right, Well, but
I mean.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
It's it's how I gets home alone.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
How you knew he was.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Coming home, Like what time he was entering?
Speaker 6 (06:49):
Do you think Wall cared about what time Jason was
coming on?
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Oh? No, he didn't care. You know, we ferried the lead.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
What was the most popular Jason's pick of all time
at your Blockbuster video?
Speaker 2 (07:00):
You?
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Uh ooh front or behind the curtain? No?
Speaker 1 (07:03):
No, no, let's see a midnight clear one false move.
Those are the ones I'm like because people would come
in because I get to wear the gold vest and
be the uh the employee of the month to give
people movie record. Yeah, because I used to be able
to give movie recommendations. People would say, what's something I
haven't seen? Like it's easy to say, hey you should
rent Lethal Weapon three or something like that, but it's like,
(07:24):
what's something really good that that I can rent and
I like? And you know, you would give a suggestion.
You got to wear the gold vest, be the movie expert.
And if people came back into they wrote down, hey,
this is a great movie. You know, this is awesome.
Great recommendation by so and so. You kept getting to
wear the gold vest and some of the big ones
this is in the early nineties. When I did it
was One False Move, which was a phenomenal movie packed
(07:48):
Bill Paxton, Midnight Clear with Ethan Hawke, Gary Sonise, phenomenal
war movie. So there's a couple that I remember going, oh,
you know, watch these. These two movies are fantastic. You
have to you have to see these.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
And those are two of my big ones.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
Oh my god, I got and like at one point
they had to get more copies of them because people
wanted to rent them because they heard about them. Like
we only had like one or two copies of One
False Move, one or two copies of The Midnight Clear,
And it was like, oh, you know, no, you got it,
you got you gotta get you.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
Gotta get this. I was like, oh, that's pretty cool. Here,
there you go. I had the North Side of Syracuse.
I'll look in at a couple of movies.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
We'll also try to find you a gold vest. Yeah,
to go with your other gift. See the thing is
we're in the gold vest.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Was cool.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
But like when if a hot girl came in the
came in the the Blockbuster video, I'm like, hey, I'm
the movie actpert.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
I'm like I look like I'm going to the Hall
of Fame. All right, I'm well, I mean you were
kind of a big deal.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
You're either going fishing or going to the Hall of Fame,
differentiating you from the rest of the crew.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
Have ever signed down here?
Speaker 1 (08:43):
Hey, do you want a movie recommendation? I get a
movie recommendation for you. Here's something goes see. I gotta,
I gotta, I got it right here, right, I gotta,
I got it. I got it, I got it. I
got it like three inches side to side, like a
regular length, but like three inches side.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
Decide, that's pretty fast. I shirt, that's pretty fair.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
No one's gonna ever know unless you listen to this
that I was talking about my dad's toenails.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
You were not.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
Under the gold vest.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
No, no, no, well no, but it had pockets and
stuff for you to give a card out.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
It was really weird.
Speaker 7 (09:14):
But it was wait, you hand it out, yellow and
red car It was you you're defend No, no, no,
that you had cards to give to somebody to say, hey,
if you like the movie, fill this out and drop
it in here and let us know if you like
it or not.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
And that's what it was.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
But I distinctly remember those two movies recommending that oh yeah,
one false move.
Speaker 8 (09:32):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
The scene at the end where there's on the on
the corner where they're all trying to get to the Uh,
they're all trying to get to the end of the
without giving anything way. They're all trying to get to
the different parts where the climax is going to take place.
And there's a kid like playing a guitar on this
big back road where the corners meet. Oh, those two
movies were fantastic.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
Ninety three percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Yeah dude, oh telling
you man, seventy five audience score with over twenty five
hundred reviews.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
Shallow Grave was an one. That's one Shallow Graves the
other one, Yeah, Shallow Grave. That's I think that's Ethan,
not Ethan. I think it's Ewan McGregor's first movie. Shallow
Grave might have been his first movie, long before he
was long before the supern for the Saints of Football Play,
long before he was Obi Wan Kenobi.
Speaker 6 (10:19):
What would you have told the Mike Harmon back in
the early nineties who came in looking for the WWE VHS, Well.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
It was w w F back then.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
I know that he would have If I said that,
nobody would know what he was talking about.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
The w w f V.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
I really want to see the first Royal rough telling
us Sell forty eight I really yeah, no, no, no,
you never actually rented those in the early No, no, in
the early nineties.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
We did.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
In the early nineties.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
It would have been I really want the first Survivor series, Like,
that's what it would have been.
Speaker 6 (10:48):
Yeah, and that's how I watched all the ufcs one, two, three,
Oh right, go.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
Back to those those pay per view cards.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
Absolutely, yeah, no, you can watch you know, people came
in to rent those one hundred percent the uh you
know what. The biggest one was WrestleMania three. That was
the most popular. That was fantastic. That was the most
popular one. But I like it was fun. I'll tell
you where you can stream all of it on the yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Like legally? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (11:16):
Oh okay, Like like NFL, I need seventeen different streaming
services of them.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Oh okay, so I can they.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
Have something to do with that? South okay, so I
can get all the NFL games and I can get this.
Oh now, how much would you pay?
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Exit?
Speaker 1 (11:34):
I'm b out of Frasca Exit Swollen Dome, the Jason
Smith show.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
Is my best friend Mike Carbett.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Now, while we're on movies, I'll just say this, right,
we got big NFL topic coming up next.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
We're on movie. I'm just on this. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
So I went to go see Kingdom of the Planet
of the Apes. Okay, so I'm in the list I'm
looking forth to. You know me, I'm a huge Planet
of the Apes fan.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
Right.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
The first two movies, the sixty eight and seventy two,
two of my favorite movies. The second movie, Beneath the
Planet of the Apes is one of my guilty pleasure movies,
favorite movies of all time. But we still have to
plan the hest of the doctor z Sure. Yes, that's
the lawgiver. Is it a lawgiver?
Speaker 3 (12:08):
I'm sorry, Yeah, it's a lawgiver. Who help me, doctor Zayas.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
So any anytime the last half hour of Beneath the
Planet of the Apes is on, I'm watching it because
it's just so good. But I'm such a huge fan
of everything, and I like what they did with the
with the last trilogy, So now here's a new trilogy.
So went to go see it and it was so good.
And you know why it was good because it wasn't
just Planet of the Apes, right, Like obviously the motion
capture things they're doing now it's it's it's phenomenal. But
(12:34):
the reason it was good is because it was fun.
And it wasn't just Planet of the Apes. It was
the Last of Us. It was Lion King, it was Avatar.
Like that's what this movie borrowed from. So it's not
quite I don't mean the plot of Avatar like, oh,
here's aun obtainingum no, but between Avatar and Last of
(12:55):
Us you lost me, but the but the plots are
the last because it's very dystopian.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
Which ape killed Scar.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
He holds Doctor Zis over and says, long Live the
King and then drops him, and then doctor Zayas goes, oh,
doctor z As, Doctor Zayas. No, that's why, Like it's
not just yeah, it's it's not just here's the apes
against the humans and the apes against the good apes
against the bad apes, bad ape long time, long time.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
But this is it.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
It's about it borrows from those from the best of
those because it's dystopian and it's it's part Lion King.
Like I said, it's part Lion King, and the videos
are part Avatar and the ending is a little bit
of Black Panther, which is so cool. It's like, oh man,
this ending is phenomenal, and it sets up a sequel
that that you're gonna see and go, I can't wait
(13:44):
for the next one, like I can't wait for the
next one after this, Like it's just done so well.
And even if you're you're a Planet of the Apes
novice or you know, you kind of, you can come
into this. You don't need to see the other stuff
see the other ones, and you can see it and go, wow,
this is really outstanding.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
It really was real. I was real.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
I go into those movies thinking, now they're just gonna
disappoint me because I love them so much, and I
was pleasantly surprised with the last few and now the
end now.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
But this one, this one was so good. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (14:09):
I couldn't get the kids to agree on it, so
it's one I'll have to probably just go see on
my own. I can't always get them to go back
and watch the battles with Malfoy from the Oh yeah yeah, ye.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
Oh my god, I was wrong.
Speaker 4 (14:25):
It was earth seeing all long, because you did me
where the Saints of Football play? So the Simpsons immediately
start rolling in the brain.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
Have you heard of Planet of the Apes the movie
or The Planet.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
The brand new multimillion dollar musical and you are staring
as the human It's the part I was born to play.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
Baby.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
We're just gonna run Simpsons lines all the way through
what we're doing. Happy Thursday, Jason, Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Coming up next, we'll get back. We got a big
story out of the NFL, and maybe the NBA is
going to get into Anthony Edwards pocket after what he
said following the Timberwolves Game six drubbing of the Denver Nuggets.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
That's next right here, Jason and Mike Fox.

Buker Nixon six.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
I'm thinking the Knicks in six, the Knicks in six.
Speaker 5 (16:12):
But if not, there's game seven Sunday MSG. Game seven
would be Sunday n MSG.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
And then we'd have OG and you no be coming
back for that.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
Big game, all right?
Speaker 1 (16:33):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon Life Inthtireck dot Com Studios.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
You know I should do.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
I should freestyle the tears for fears, get tighter to
turn them off?
Speaker 3 (16:44):
Right? Why didn't I think about you might have had
the magic key this whole time? I got to figure
way to talk about the Knicks.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
It doesn't work that way, though, But I could, But
I but I could could.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
It's no, it's not oh yeah, no, no, no. I
can just keep saying Nixon six over and over and
over again, it could be doing that. That only adds
to it. You think.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
I'm like, dude, the song is Jason Proof. I am
not the popa doc of this show. Just sit here
and hold the microphone and put it down a walk away.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
Do I give reason like him? I give you rhymes.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
I'm throwing up mom spaghetti and getting ready to go.
That's one tonight. Oh by the way, that's one on
your sweater already. Uh yeah, I mean I don't think
the Dodgers are gonna win tonight. So so again, there's that.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
You want to you want to bet that?
Speaker 7 (17:27):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (17:27):
Yeah, you want to bet Cincinnati have four nothing? Yeah
you want to bet? Yeah? Yeah, what do you want
to bet?
Speaker 2 (17:31):
What do you want?
Speaker 3 (17:32):
It's going to ninth inning down for nothing? What do
you want to bet? It's the Dodgers? Okay, what do
you want to bet? You're saying it's over? What do
you want to bet? No, Tawny Bobblehead, tell me.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
Gray one or the regular not the Gray I'm keeping
expensive all right, Yes, we will get to the o
Tawni Bobblehead in the insanity that is happening tonight. Uh
coming up in a few minutes from this game because
it's absolutely insane. But let's let's let's take this Harrison
Butker story into a little bit different direction, right, the
(18:01):
chiefs kicker who made some really controversial comments the other
day at a Catholic college graduation. The NFL distancing itself
from Bucker's comments, saying his views are not those of
the NFL as an organization. Bucker was a commencement speaker
at Benedictine College in Kansas and said most of the
women receiving degrees were probably more excited about getting married
(18:22):
and having children than going out into the workforce. So
also said that some Catholic leaders are pushing dangerous gender
ideologies under the youth of America. He criticized President Biden.
It look, last hour we talked about this, and I said, listen, hey,
Harrison Bucker says what he wants to say. Obviously, freedom
of speech in this country, you don't have freedom of responsibility.
Someone says something, then I'm sorry. You don't just get
(18:43):
to know. I say what I want knowing it to
say anything back. No, if you say something like that,
you're going to get criticized. And we talked about it
from the angle last hour of hey this is a speech.
This is a political speech. If this is my graduation,
I don't want to hear you telling me about dangerous
ideologies and what you think of the president and what
you think my hopes and dreams should be. My hopes
dreams would be whatever I want them to be.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
Well, but I mean, look, the part of it is
about hopes and dreams. Now, you can disagree with what
he thinks your hopes and dreams, but that's he shouldn't
but him.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
Don't tell me my hopes and dreams can be whatever.
Maybe I want to be a homemaker. Maybe I want
to be a rocket scientist. Maybe I'm right no, but
I want to play video games. It's doesn't matter.
Speaker 4 (19:21):
That was the part of the speech that actually made
sense and aligned with what speakers normally do, talking about
your hopes and dreams and what you're building up.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
But usually the speaker doesn't tell you what your hopes
and dream should be. Well like you.
Speaker 4 (19:33):
It says, well you're gonna like the Mets, wallow and mediacy.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
Hey, listen, Jason, you're a sports fan. Here's what you
should do. Drop your teams and go to the other
side of town. Be a Yankees fan. And a Giants fan.
You'll have a much better life over much better life.
Speaker 3 (19:49):
Right.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
Again, the point being that the rest of the speech
there were just a lot of head scratching. What's this
got to do with any of the Yeah, what you're
there at.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
The time, I'm graduating here, right, tell you know, inspire
me and tell you know, and that that's what the
speech should be.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
Likewise, don't tell me what to do.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
This is this is something if you want to give
this speech at some kind of political rally or that's
with this speech.
Speaker 3 (20:08):
But this is not a commencement speech.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
Right. The after party, Hey, the after parties at Applebee's.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
Now, from the other part of this is that there
are a lot of people who are expecting the NFL
to do something or the Chiefs to do something with Harrison. Butker,
there are there are policies, I'm sorry, there are petitions
out to get the Chiefs to get to to get
rid of Harrison Butker. Look, the NFL has put their
statement out they disagree with Harrison Butker, and look, is
he gonna lose his job?
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Of course? Not right.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
The guy said what he thought. And this is not
something where you say, okay, you lose your job because
of it. Now what you have to do is, hey,
these are your thoughts. Now you have to deal with
the responsibility of that. And that is the responsibility of
what people say about you, what people talk about in
the locker room with you, your relationship with with your
if you want to say this, you have to understand
that with decisions come with decisions come after effects and
(21:01):
come and there comes a fallout and consequences and maybe
the consequences. Hey he's our teammate, we love him. Maybe
your consequences. Hey, I don't talk to the guy. But
this is what it is. I don't expect the Chiefs
to do anything. But let's be quite honest, the Chiefs
has an organization would never do something because they just don't.
All right, Everybody has this image of the Chiefs as
(21:22):
what what a great organization are because you have Patrick
Mahomes one of the most well liked superstars in the world.
You have the Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift relationship and Kelsey's.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
A lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
Andy Reid is a well liked head coach that you
have the commercials he's stealing nuggies from people and all
kinds of great stuff. But remember, the Chiefs are a
team that a allowed Tyreek Kill to play throughout everything
going on when he broke his son's arm, and it
was how is this guy playing? And then the chief
just said, no, we're gonna allow him to play because
we're gonna wait and see what happens. Chiefs could have
(21:54):
easily said, hey, this is not something we're cool with,
but no, they let him play. Rashie Rice is still
on the team, still on the team, not been suspended.
You're talking about now, this is the second thing he's
had another instance where he got into this week that's
been reported in addition to the car situation and the
speeding that injured people a couple of months ago. Rashie
Rice is still on the team. So if you think
(22:16):
the Chiefs are gonna do something, they're not. They don't.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
They just sit back and they turtle.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
When there's something big going on, they just go, well,
we're gonna wait and see, and they're not gonna do
anything because they needed these guys. They needed Tyreek Hill,
they need Rashie Rice, who turned in their best wide
receiver last year, and they need Harrison Bucker, who's one
of the best kickers in the NFL. So if you
think they're gonna do something, should they do something for Butker, No,
they shouldn't. But when you look at their track record,
(22:41):
and this is just the past five years, you know
they're not going to They're the walking example of hey,
we don't care what you do as long as you
can play football.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
Well, but that has been the way going in the
NFL for a very long time of wait for it
to clear the courts, to what you've seen at times
from the Commissioners office, certainly more so pre Roger Goodell,
but it becomes the well, we're not we're not the
judges of this. If there's no crime or or he's
(23:10):
not been found guilty of X, Y or z, then
why should we suspend them? Right?
Speaker 3 (23:15):
And so in terms of policing it, most teams have
been pretty lax. I mean, you can go all the
way down plenty of high profile Hall of Fame examples
of things where the league's kind of gone, ah.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
But what are you gonna do?
Speaker 3 (23:29):
Right? But but the chiefs have been held up as well.
Look how they do it.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
What a great organization top to bottom, And really they're
not And then they're good at evaluating and you can
throw in the fact that and this is this is
not part of this, but it's still part. Was what
they had like with the worst rating from players as
far as all of their amenities over the past few years,
not spending money the well non they were begging for
money right for the new uh you know for all
(23:53):
new facilities.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
Were twenty billion dollars and have the facilities they wanted.
Didn't have that? What was it?
Speaker 1 (23:57):
The the cafeteria and everything, like they're begging for public money. Yeah,
this image of the Chiefs, all the Chiefs are just
saying no, this is who the Chiefs are. They just
happen to have really terrific front facing players who are
the face of the organization, that are really good people,
that are really good role models. And you can look
up to Mahomes and Kelsey Taylor Swift because you know
(24:19):
she's part of the Chiefs and you could say okay,
but really.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
When it comes behind it, this is kind of who
they are. They always they had.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
Chances to stand up and say hey, this is not right,
this is not right, and still they just decide we're
going to do nothing.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
We're not gonna do anything.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
And if something legally is done, then obviously they're not
going to play for us. But if nothing legally is done,
hey get back out there and play.
Speaker 8 (24:39):
No.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
But that's generally been the case, and you've seen very
rare instances where teams step forward, right, I mean, normally.
Speaker 3 (24:47):
It's this way.
Speaker 4 (24:47):
It's not you know college football or basketball, where it's
been the all right, well, we'll have these self imposed sanctions,
so the investigating bodies go away here. It just goes
into the legal process and through the players association, and
everything becomes the well, we'll we'll cross that bridge when
we get to it, and then if we do exact
(25:08):
a punishment and we need to do more, then we
can come back over the top. But usually it's the
all right, let's wait for it to go out in
the courts now. And that's goodell where we're trying to
read where he's at in his continuum where it's been
a bit different, right, not the heavy hand that it
was for a while, because some of these allegations would
(25:30):
have prompted immediate investigations or you're away from a team
until further notice, which he's softened on as the years
have gone on.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
Yeah, well it's it's just a case of where I
thought that.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
Look in the grand scheme of the NFL, the early
aughts were a really tough time because Goodell takes over
from Paul Tagliabu, and the one thing you could say, look,
Paul Taglibu is a great commissioner, you know, ushered the
NFL into a new era Monday night football, getting you know,
twenty eight twenty nine. But as far as discipline went,
he did nothing. Again, guys would get DUIs on Friday
(26:06):
and play on Sunday. So Goodell comes in, He's like, okay,
I'm ruling with an iron hand. And all the suspension
that happened for pac Man Jones and Chris Henry and
Tank Johnson it was and it was I am, I
am going to make sure you are going to be
you are not going to run a foul and not
protect the shield and going to play on Sunday. And
so that was a real issue back then because that
was the era of you could do whatever you want
(26:27):
to and still play on Sunday. And I like the
fact that for a lot of teams they have taken
that to a different level of Okay, you can't you
can't get away whatever. You can't just do anything you
want to and expect to keep playing in the league.
And we saw it on different occasions with different teams
who sat players down or traded players or release players.
And I wanted to think, Okay, we're turning the corner
on that a little bit. But you look at the
(26:49):
Chiefs who had two big, high profile situations in the
last couple of years with Tyreek killin Rashid Rice, and
they've just never said anything. We're quiet this entire time.
And I guarantee you if whatever happened with Rashi Rice,
if he doesn't go to doesn't go to jail, whatever
it is, then he'll be playing.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
Sure, he'll be playing. And that's going to be it
because he'll get it.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
They'll get a suspension from the league, right personal conduct
policy whatever it is, four games, six games, because that's
also been fairly arbitrary, right at one point it was
supposed to be six games all the time, and then
it wasn't. Maybe a two game suspension. But either way,
he'll get docked by the league. But is the team
going to run away from a guy who is their
(27:28):
first number one receiver and who emerged as that guy. No,
did they draft a guy as an alternate if he's
not available right need the rest supplement.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
He decides to suspend and we have another guy is
either workman or he's a replacement.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
Well, by the way you see is if you're worthy
of his car stolen? Yeah, how about that? Wow?
Speaker 2 (27:49):
Uh crazy? Just let him in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
It's just disappointing to see, you know that this is
this is what the chiefs are when you look, when
you look behind the headlines and to think, oh, well,
but no, this is first of all, it doesn't right
to the other things that happen. You're talking about. This
is a guy giving a speech versus here's Rashid Rice
who is driving and endangering lives, you know, and you know,
so there's a different there's a different thing with that.
(28:11):
It's different with Tyreek Hill and looking at allegations of
domestic abuse like that, that's different. It's obviously a bunch
of different things. But to think then oh, yeah, yeah,
he should be saying no, that's sens.
Speaker 4 (28:21):
Yeah, and the guys that have done what constituted criminal acts,
it's one thing with butker and say he'll get his
his rebuking from the fans and others have gone out
and bought a lot of jerseys in response to it.
It's right, sensibilities right because he did a big part
of his speech of what it should be it means
to him to be a man. In twenty twenty four,
then he did his thing about homemaking. He had a
(28:42):
whole thing about COVID and he did the Biden like
it just kind of went all over the leadership in
the church. And again the nuns, the Benedictine Nuns, wrote
a very lengthy response to him.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
It's well worth a read.
Speaker 1 (28:55):

left in the third period. Oh boy, j T Miller scoring,
not TJ Miller, TJ winning the deadpool?
Speaker 3 (29:46):

Speaker 1 (29:47):
TJ Miller scoring three to two Canucks with the lead
thirty seconds left to go.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
Jason, that's what the Oilers do.
Speaker 6 (29:54):
They beat the Kings and then poop their pants.

to be are Express pros pro of the week. Did
(30:53):
you really tell the locker room staffer in Denver you
were gonna be back?
Speaker 5 (30:57):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (30:57):
Yeah, they knowed I was in there.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
Yeah, I told him. I said, I see m was
the game seven.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
Yeah, let's go.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
I don't think you can say, uh, mother scratcher on
enduring the Prescott.
Speaker 3 (31:12):
Well, but you can say, what are you gonna get? Fine?
Ten grand? I don't know fifty grand?
Speaker 1 (31:17):
Oh come on, dude, flash the money signing only got
seventy five. But it's different if you say the S word. No,
you said mother scratcher. That's that.
Speaker 3 (31:25):
I think it's gonna dand twice they hit him for
fifty thousand. The union should fire back.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
I like how he said the clubhouse guy. Yeah, I
told that blaker Blaker.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
To be back and keeps he was there. I were
all there.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
I'm smack talking with the guy that gets the towels
and puts them in the puts them in the hamper.
Speaker 4 (31:43):
Nobody wants to telling me we weren't done. Be ready
for Sunday. We got work to do.
Speaker 1 (31:49):
Yeah, look for this playoffs, sud Look, you watched the
night that the Wolves go on a twenty zero run
in the first quarter and they never looked back to
dude finished plus forty three. They win this game by
forty five. This is what I mean when I say
the NBA has got a playoff problem. We talked about
it with Rick Buker that when you're supposed to be
this is the best of your sport that everybody is
(32:11):
consuming in the playoffs and every game is a twenty
point blowout, you have a problem. And you can't solve
it because you can't just make the games be closer.
But you have a problem because this is where TV
ratings stagnate. And it's why the NFL comes after Christmas
Day like they have, and it's why games like this
you see that Rady Steve talked about him being way
(32:32):
down from a year ago. Yes, you didn't have Lakers
Warriors like it did a year ago, but you have
Nick Pace, which is a pretty big series. You have
Jokich has some pretty big teams. You just don't have
close games. And the fact that every other game in
this series is a blowout. A team can win by
twenty five and lose by twenty seven the next game.
They can win by twenty five in the last game
and then lose by forty five tonight. It makes no sense.
(32:54):
But this is the NBA playoffs. Yet here we are.
This what I mean when they say they have a
playoff problem, because no longer when you get to a
point in the playoffs where people go, yeah, I gotta
see all of this game. It's well, I'll check in
if it's close, I'll watch it. If it's not, I
don't have to because I know it's just gonna get together.
Am I gonna be really excited if I'm not. If
I'm not a fan of one of these things, but
I'm an NBA fan, Am I gonna make sure I
(33:16):
gotta get to the TV to watch Denver in Minnesota? No,
if it's close, I want to get there because I
want to see what happens. I want to see the drama.
But if it's a blowout, I don't need to see
a lot of these games. You're watching the bookends.
Speaker 4 (33:25):
At this point, I want to watch first quarter, see
which team comes out like a house of fire.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
Hopefully we're near even so.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
I stay a little long. Otherwise I'm disappearing for an
hour and twenty minutes.
Speaker 3 (33:38):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (33:39):
He's gonna go run my errands and then I'll get
a buzz on my phone that says four minutes left right,
and then you see what the score is, and if
it's close, then yeah, you flip the TV back on
or going to the fourth quarter. But so many of
these games, like tonight, it was done and as Rick
brought up with the three point shot, this was not
a good shooting night, to to be kind, because I
(34:02):
can't say what Anthony Edwards said in terms of their
effort tonight seven of thirty six from three point range.
Three point shot. Once you know you're broke, you broke.
And they shot thirty percent from the field as a team,
which meant Jokic was in street close in the fourth quarter. Yeah,
you're not even getting off the bench. No, why am
(34:22):
I watch?
Speaker 1 (34:22):
He was wearing a Tom Thibodau warmup suit for the
entire fourth We're done, right, so.
Speaker 4 (34:27):
That that's where we've gotten with a lot of these games.
And as much as you want to celebrate all the
young talent rising to the top, because that's what we have,
is a lot of teams that haven't been here. When
we look at Minnesota and OKC and all these knicks
is then you know you want to celebrate the effort.
But even that series, the last two games have been terrible.
(34:47):
Now after after four grade or three grade, I should say,
now we've got back to back, We're like, eh, okay,
drum eating a little bit drama. Yeah, but that I
get to sit there and watch for the next hour. No,
I'm gonna get that highlight on my phone immediately. If
some guy actually throws an elbow or swings at him,
I'm not gonna sit wait hoping that happens.
