greatest shooting performances in NBA playoff history.

the Pacers win decisively one hundred and thirty to one
hundred and nine, the first time in this series so
that the home team did not.

Speaker 5 (00:54):
Win, Welcome into the Knicks Roast, Go New York, Go.

Speaker 1 (00:59):

Speaker 6 (01:01):

And the season's over.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Remember with Us?

Speaker 6 (02:18):
I did like that impression with Devin chenz I. It
was pretty good there.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
That worked. Look, look, I'm honest, nothing is it now?
There is something that really pisses me off. But for
the Knicks, really, but for the Knicks, for the Knicks,
I'm fine, I'm fine, And this is not this is

(02:42):
not me. This is not me saying hey, I'm fine.
I'm really no, I really am fine. I told you
from the beginning it's a magic carpet ride. The season
was gonna end. It was like a horror movie. Every
ten minutes in a horror movie, somebody gets killed. Every
game and a half that the knixt place, somebody gets
hurt and gets knocked out. Of course, Jalen Brunson broke

(03:03):
his hand reaching in for a steal. Of course, Brunson
broke out.

Speaker 6 (03:06):
And now when that happened, at some point, you just
have to start cackling like your your Max Katie in
the movie Theater of Game Here, you.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Just send it into a very weird No. I was
at that point where it happened. Was Brunson's out. Go
Alec Burks, keep shooting threes. Come on, Alec Burks, keep
shooting threes. Keep shooting threes. They'll build a statue for you,
my friend, Now build it.

Speaker 7 (03:32):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
No, I told you it was gonna end. I was
hoping they would have enough, and they didn't. Everybody was hurt.
You saw Ananobe tried to play he could, and Josh
Hart wasn't the same. And then Brunson breaks his head
like a.

Speaker 6 (03:45):
Pacers also shot like they were, you know, the world
champion at a Papa shot at Chucky.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
No one shot that well in a playoff game in
NBA history, in history, in history. He went Randy Savage
off the top rope with the elbook. But you lost
the five guys in TJ mccaus. You're gonna say, TJ Max, Look,

(04:12):
it was going to happen. Okay, it was gonna happen.
Now was gonna happen the next round against the Celtics.
What can there's It's not like I can look back
and go, oh, they blew it or all they they
were supposed to do this and they didn't. They went
as far as they could go. This was an overachieving
team that got as far as it could win for
their top eight guys in the rotation got knocked out

(04:33):
for the season, and then two more guys got hurt
in the last game, like there was nobody left. Man,
there was nobody, and you got and you lost with
it again, no one has shot that well in the
history of the NBA playoffs. Came out there and gave
it the old college try a three. He's out of
the game. He could he couldn't. He couldn't move. He
couldn't move, he couldn't move. He try.

Speaker 6 (04:54):
I mean I appreciated seeing it in warm ups and
getting that note, you know on air yesterday morning, say
all right, he's gonna go through like there's there's no way,
like you saw the first couple of times he went
to do anything like yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
That's not gonna They thought he will is read it, Eddie,
and he just couldn't. He wasn't. Luca knew he was
at least had Luca.

Speaker 6 (05:12):
No, that's true that you'd at least have that emotional
lift that everybody else would run up from. But again,
your opponent shot sixty seven, sixty seven.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
I really wanted to shoot seventy eight to kind of
start the season, started starting to end with like come
full circle, seventy eight calls that were missed. We shoot
seventy eight percent in the final game. Uh, look, there's
nothing to criticize at all. But what am I gonna say?
There's it's not In fact, it was out stuff. Frostburg.
You've been out of the playoffs. I feel you've be
out of the playoffs for three years. You're like walking
through the desert trying to find a way through the

(05:41):
playoffs with the Lakers.

Speaker 6 (05:42):
It really just comes back to the same old argument.
Though as great as Tom Thibodeau did and as well
as this team played, uh, and he's gonna get an
extension and and became a full hero and the culture
that's been built. Did he run them into the ground
or were they just a series of unfortunate events?

Speaker 1 (06:00):
No, you had, Julius Randall, it was serious. Was unfortunate event.
The only injury you could say maybe was over It
was and unobe because of the soft tissue injury that
he had. Brunton put his hand in to try to
get it. Okay, that happened. I mean, who has a
strained intercostal muscle it nobody, It doesn't. These are all
fluke injuries. So again with the Knicks, I am fine.

(06:22):
I am happy with that I had. I am so
fortunate the last three weeks it was so exciting. It
was just gonna happen. There's nothing they could have done.

Speaker 7 (06:30):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Look, and this series really turned and I'm telling you
it turned on the nemhard three at the miracle three
where he closed his eyes and threw it up. At
the end of Game three where the Knicks kind of
gave that one away. That was where the series turned
a little bit, because okay, here they are. It would
have been a tie game, Knicks chance to win most
likely to the free throw line. Maybe it's threes that
maybe it's over. But the guy makes a miracle three

(06:52):
from thirty one feet away that kind of turned the series,
and Yacht gave the Pacers life, and the Pacers simply
outlasted the Knicks. They did that. It was just we're
gonna outlet because they're gonna get exhausted. Guys are gonna
keep getting hurt. Let's just keep playing and eventually left.
Nobody left. So there's nothing I could say about the Knicks.
Er I could say I wish they would have done this,
or man, I can't believe they did this. I can't
believe that. Even the play that turned the series. Yeah,

(07:13):
you have the worst player on the floor with the
ball thirty one feet from the basket and all he
can do is shoot, Yeah, you're gonna give that up,
And the guy made it, like what can you there's
nothing to be done. A hell of a step back.
It's it's a it's really weird that I can look
at the end of one on my team in the
playoffs and go there was nothing to be done. They
lost to a team that was deeper, they were better,
and they were healthier, and now they move on. There's nothing.

(07:34):
There's nothing I could do about it. A couple of
things that we need to discuss. You know, there's a
butt coming, but go ahead.

Speaker 6 (07:40):
But but for everybody that was doing the oh, I
got tired of it being Nick's in Nick's coverage whatever.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
It's like, where's the better story.

Speaker 6 (07:48):
Where is there any story for the Indiana Pacers that
got you excitable?

Speaker 1 (07:53):
For the NBA, for.

Speaker 6 (07:54):
All coverage for people that are fans, grew up in
New York, went to a New York school, you know,
all of those things that flow through. So anybody doing
the oh, it's too bad that they shouldn't get the run,
you know what, Start giving it their run now, because
I garan damntee. You didn't do it this last series either,
So stop complaining about the Knicks coverage.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Yeah, wasn't a bit much, but I'd liked seeing my
friend happy to a point. You know.

Speaker 6 (08:19):
I mean, it's one of those because you're jealous because
my team stinks, and that's the way it goes. I mean,
Zach Levine right now has the NBA. He is the
leader of the guy with the worst winning percentage as
a player with five hundred games played, thirty thirty seven
that's how much his team wins. So anybody that's doing

(08:40):
the oh, we should have talked about Indiana more or
you should have done that, Like, you didn't talk about Indiana.
Don't try to sell me that you did unless you
were talking about Reggie Miller hitting a shot. You didn't
talk about Indiana as it rolled out for twenty three,
twenty four. Now for the Knicks, may they were fun
to watch, like they were a team that every but
he could embrace because it was the blue collar go

(09:02):
to work, put in your forty minutes or forty four
whatever Thibodeau was going to require. And you're rolled through
and unfortunately you just saw the wheels come off one
after another. Right, it's the being out for the test drive.
Take the old Kramer from Seinfeld. How far could we
break that needle off? That's kind of where the Knicks were.
Eventually that car is stopping in the middle of the desert,

(09:25):
and that's exactly what happened here. Just did not have
enough to outlast and nor did you think that they
would be able to shoot sixty seven percent? Your guy
nem hard. He went eight of ten. Sure he had twenty.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
Everybody was everywhere, everybody plays, everybody win sixty cent. What
are you gonna do? What are you gonna do? Right?
But you know there's a butt coming. Okay, there's a butt.
I'm not mad about the Knicks.

Speaker 6 (09:49):
No. I watched your I watched your facial response to
what was going on in the open and everything, so
I know there's a butt.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Here's what I'm mad about. I'm mad that we lost
to them. I'm mad then we lost to the Pacers.
I'm mad that we lost to a team that, like
a little kid who wasn't being given ice cream, cried
and cried the first two games of the series and said, oh,
it's not being called right, and it's the small market
teams and we're not giving a chance. And then they
start winning games and suddenly, oh, oh no, everything is

(10:18):
fine now because we're winning. Like I gave the kid
a lollipop, Would you please be quiet and stop crying here, Okay,
everything is fine. And then at the end of the series.
It's all patronizing and Rick Carlisle saying, oh, the amount
of respect I have for the Knicks and Tom Timbadeau.
Earlier it was all big market teams getting yeah, you
can't do and then you have players trolling the next

(10:40):
I'm wearing a Reggie Miller sweat and you cried and
moaned and complained that it was so sad. You were
so oh, we're being done, so dirty. This is awful.
Oh open, now we're winning. Let me dry my tears
and let me let me stop snipping. And now now
now I got my swerve back a little bit here
because it's two thousand and six and I said swerve, and.

Speaker 6 (10:57):
Now we automatically get hitting across the tempt. I have
my confidence back now. Now now I'm feeling good. Yes,
I can say good things about the Knicks. Oh boy,
what a great what a great competition. Hey, hey, what a
great series.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
Let's give a big round of applugs the next and
I'll look at the players here who want to continue
to troll the Knicks and Knicks fans look at I'm
gonna wear a Reggie Miller sweatshirt. I'm Tyre's Alibert and
Reggie Miller continuing to troll the Knicks. They went from
we are crying and moaning and complaining like little kids
sucking their thumb, laying on the ground. But here, here's
something to be quiet. And now it's say here they
are later Oh no no, and now everything is fine.

(11:28):
Yeah no, no, no, everything is fine. That's what pisses
me off. But that that's how they behave the entire series.
And that's who we lost to. We didn't lose to
a team that beat the crap out of us and
won by twenty twenty five. And hey, this is what
we have to do. We're professional about it, X, Y
and Z, because you know what, they're just mad at
the fans. They're just mad at the fans, not like
Knicks players were saying anything during the playoffs, not like

(11:50):
Tom Thibodeau was saying anything in the playffs. The Pacers decided, oh,
we're mad at the calls. We don't like the fans,
we don't like the x Nicks that are around, that
are around the floor, that we don't like the atmosphere.
Matt Square guarded had whined and cried and cried and
cried and cried, and then it turns out they won,
Oh and now everything is okay. The only one crying
here is you. So that No, that's just that's just
so unprofessional. That's just so what you're doing is to No,

(12:11):
it's I'm telling you why I'm pissed off, man, I'm
telling you why I feel I Joey Triban, I'm telling
you why Chandler got you. We did. We lost in
seven games? Yeah by how many? Okay, okay, six and
seven were like how many playoff games did you win? Frostburg.
We're talking about the I'm not talking about Minimiz. Tell
me how my team is not good and they're not
good and they made it way. You haven't won a
championship since nineteen seventy, way further than your team nineteen

(12:35):
seventy three, nineteen, the same thing, but it was you
weren't even was in my lifetime. I was born, No,
No broke up seven the last nick I was born.
I was alive for that one. I wasn't alive for
the first Mets one or the first next one, but
I was alive for that one. I was alive. I
did not watch Phil Jackson on my screen on tape delay.
But I was alive for it.

Speaker 6 (12:55):
But again, the point as let me do this for
you here, justin so he doesn't come in and try
to choke you up. Is the shows today, the game
was this weekend. He's got nothing to do with his squad,
and they're inability. He's only because he's saying things that
are and true. Your team is bad. You lost, you
know he's doing that.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
No, they lost by twenty one and.

Speaker 5 (13:13):
Then well you're out here saying that they went as
far as they could. You said they were going to
the finals.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
Yeah, well, and then they all started getting hurt and
then it wasn't. And I told you from the beginning
of the series, I hope they have enough to win
this series they made. I said that from the beginning
of this series. I can go back to the tape
and find exactly where I just finished with your car.

Speaker 6 (13:31):
So man, because you can't cut I'm trying to make it.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
You don't make salient points.

Speaker 6 (13:39):
It's the next brilliance is that you're wearing a white
son A just because they're wearing it was a.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
White Sox shirt today. That's like good, I'm gonna like
trip and fall off in my chair right now because
I'm close to you wearing a white sox. Terrible.

Speaker 6 (13:52):
I stipulate to that. And they've been terrible for a
very long time. And now you got one of the
new broadcasters fighting with the guys on the radio stage.
It's absurd. But for Rick Carlisle, what are you doing?
You're trying to get calls? And did he take it
to an extreme?

Speaker 1 (14:07):
But that's what you do. That's what you do.

Speaker 6 (14:09):
And you know, Phil Jackson might have done it more
eloquently back in the but then he stopped.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
Guy, then he stopped so everything was getting officiated right then. No,
there were no change at that point. There's no point
to fight it.

Speaker 6 (14:22):
At that point you've said your piece and then you
win four out of five, including.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
Two blowouts, and so that's it. You did. You did
your job. He just cried. Now everything everything is all.
Isn't that what everybody does? I mean, that's that's society,
isn't it. Complain? Complain? All right, you kissed my ass.
Now I'm good and you go. I have to like it,
and I didn't like it. I didn't like it at all.
That's all I'm trying to do is put them by

(14:48):
the scope up to say we all do it. So
I met.

Speaker 6 (14:50):
So when you're at home and you didn't get enough
of a big dish man, why.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
Are you mad?

Speaker 6 (14:55):
Now?

Speaker 1 (14:55):
You should not be mad. Your team didn't do anything,
My team lost, and you're the one man and you're
making me mad. You're making to Sagre mad, You're making
Frostburg mad. I'd say you make a tighter meda, agreeing
with the point I was trying to thank. The Jason

Speaker 6 (16:20):
In fact, Tony, why don't you open up one of
those letters right now and read what's inside?

Speaker 2 (16:23):
Hey, listen to this.

Speaker 7 (16:24):
Dear Pauli and Tony, your sports takes the dumbest and
most terribly not that.

Speaker 2 (16:29):
Wait, why open this other one?

Speaker 7 (16:31):
Dear Pauli and Toni, you suck more than anyone. Wait,
try this one. Dear Paulie and Tony, you guys are
the absolute best. There you go coming up with the
stupidest take.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
Yeah, nine to six New York at Belsky's one deep
center field that goes Painter to the watering track. Looks
up at it tire, Oh, Josh Bell tis the game?

Speaker 1 (17:03):
Well? About three run home or at the bottom of
the NYE.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
The Marlins have scored four.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
Runs against Bedwin Das to tie the.

Speaker 7 (17:10):
Game at nine nine.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Oh, I thought you had something else. You had something
else that happened to one of my teams. You have
the final final call of Denver beating Syracuse Water.

Speaker 6 (17:25):
Finals Lacrosse Area. Then Aaron Rodgers chose the Yankees over
the Mets. How does that make? I don't care.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
I really don't care. I'd like to be about your quarterback. No,
I don't care. Didn't even choose you, didn't choose you person.
I don't care. I don't care. There's so many things,
shows Walt, There's so many things I don't care about
Aaron Rodgers, and that's one of them. But maybe this
is what I have to go through for the Jets
to win the Super Bowl. Like it's kind of like,
what isn't the whole thing? Like Dante's inferno. You gotta
go through the river sticks, you can go through all

(17:51):
the hell, right, you gotta go there. So I gotta
go through the Knicks, and I gotta go through the Mets,
and I go and but it's gonna come out the
other side with a the Jets winning the Super Bowl.
Maybe that's what I have to go through. Okay, that's fine.

Speaker 6 (18:02):
And sometimes he eats something that disagresses with you and
it's got to come out the other side.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
That's to make you feel better. Oh okay, sure, sure,
real question. Yeah, people are having dinner. What do you got,
f Rosburg? How did a pop up go over the fence? Yeah? No,
I will say Edwin Diazi to stop pointing up in
the air, you know, like like that makes it seem
like it's not your fault. You can't go over the fence,
has not my fault. How can you go over the
fence and catch that ball? No?

Speaker 6 (18:26):
I mean that was the equivalent of the old Harry
Carey calls there's a pop up, short stop Dunston going back, Hey,
it's out of here. I think it's it's part of
the ball.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
I think, honestly, it's part of the closer because you know,
Hansel Robless used to do this all the time. The
lunch guys do it former closer. They want to uh
like they feel like I can control it still by
pointing up to it, like I have some kind of
mental control. If I point up to it, it's not
going to go out in said, it will fall into
the outfield. Yeah it's not yet. Oh, look I get

(18:58):
this man. I was gonna be a home run, but
look now it's gonna go right into Harrison baders Love.
There we go. No, no, no, look, gay buddy. It
was a tough weekend. Look, the Knicks and Mets season
all both ending in the same weekend. We lose two
out of Marlan's Marylands won like four games all year,
two out of three. So it's done. Now, it's done.
I need the Knicks to get me all the way

(19:18):
to the Jets now, because I Mets aren't doing it's now.
I gotta just go. Oh, I got nothing, as you got.
You got at least a little of that film clips
to make you feel better. I'll buy a hat. Sure, okay,
I'll help little little.

Speaker 6 (19:32):
Retail therapy and then that'll get you to I mean, look,
you canna have a summer vacation at some point.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
Yeah, yeah, sure, sure, sure. I look at that bloke,
he's wearing a he's wearing a Mets hat. That would
got picture a guy wearing a Mets hat.

Speaker 6 (19:45):
I'd hold up a sign and put a little tin
in front of you and track like dollars.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
Feel bad for me. These are my teams. I look
at that, Look at that bloke over that. What's wrong
with him? He's a Mets hat?

Speaker 3 (19:56):
Is this?

Speaker 6 (19:56):
I had to get away from the US to not
be reminded of these suckitude of my team.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
And then all the pictures I look at the rest
of my Oh yeah, we're gonna mesat in that picture.
Oh that's that. Oh that's that. Now we'll get you, jaunty.
Look look again. I'm fine with the Nicks losing. I'm
mad the Pacers won because they acted like babies. But okay,
it happened, and we move on. We have to have
no choice. But the movie called Gamesmanship, I have no choice,
and then you got god, I'm sorry, I have no choice.

Speaker 6 (20:22):
And now they get to go, uh play the Celtics. Yes,
and guess what. Guess what the hot take for all
of the folks in our business that complained about the
coverage this last round gets what. They're not gonna talk
about the Pacers next round either. It's gonna be all
about no because Celtics, in their history and their legacy
and everything else.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
They think they have a bye into the NBA Finals.
Watch Celtics like, yeah, suddenly, whoa, We're down three to
one to the Pacers. Look at everything is coming along,
Look how great we are. And Rick Carlisle rocking the
sidelines like he's from the future with all the black
outfit and the black turtle necks like he's from the
year twenty seventy four. I know exactly how things go.
That's what I gotta watch. That's what I have to watch. Okay,

(21:02):
you know what, let's you know what. Let's let's take
a deep breath. Let's let's not your fault. Let's move
on from the Knicks. Do you have a nice meal
this weekend? I had.

Speaker 6 (21:10):
Maybe you got to take a nice walk, Maybe there
was a disht take a nice nap, larger of ice
cream because you had to.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
Console yourself, not take a nap. And Jason was out
Friday the next win or lose. On Friday, they lost oh, okay,
that's all right. Though what about Sunday? Sunday they lost?
Oh good thing. I was out then. I remember you
said you would get to four working days in a
row before the Knicks got to four wins and neither
of us wan No, no, because you are the anti

(21:39):
Cal Ripkin of Fox Sports Radio. I don't know, like yeah,
like you you get up to like four days in
a row. No, I need I need a day off.
I'm sorry, I need a day off. I need to
do But for the fourth time and six nights, we
had a Caitlyn Clark basketball game. Yeah we did. You know,
I know the prevailing opinion is going to be, how
do you give him four games and six nights? Of course,
give four games at six nights. It's Kaitlyn Bleeping Clark

(22:01):
the fever oh and three facing the Connecticut Sun again.
One of the top teams in the WNBA last year
to this year. They're still undefeated. The play the last
couple of days, I think tells everybody, just like we
told you, Caitlin Clark in the WNBA is going to
be just fine.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
Funner by boss Camp, we were fine.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Clark. Come ESPN on McCall, Yes, another logo three for
Caitlyn Clark. Tonight she had seventeen points, five rebounds or
three rebounds, five assists, still five fouls, will still figuring
out the fouls and the turnovers a little bit better.

(22:46):
Indiana falls to h and four because remember, the only
one thing wrong with Indiana is they stink. They stakim.
They had a chance to tie the game late. Eliah Boston,
last year's Rookie of the Year, missed a layup that, Wow,
looked like it was going to be a lot easier
than the defenders kind of closed in on it.

Speaker 6 (23:00):
When she was anticipating more contact. She got a little
loss there on the layup and it doesn't go.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
The Sun get a rebound that hit, a couple of
free throws, and the fever fall to zero to four.
But I think if you're watching this, and people are watching,
more people are watching these games than than ever have before, Congratulations,
we told you this was going to happen. Caitlin Clark
is going to be just fine, and she already is
adjusting to the WNBA. The thing that you watch that's
really fantastic, and it's really something to see, is there

(23:27):
is no player that gets the attention in the game
that she does, the defensive attention on every single possession.
Where is she she has the ball, she's going to
get the ball, she's coming off a screen. What do
we have going on? What do we doing? She gets
all the attention, which is why that last play was
so wide open for a Leah Boston because you know,
we're down by two with eleven seconds left. Guess who's

(23:49):
going to take a logo three? So that's why the
floor was so spread. Yeah, gets the ball. She got
the ball really too far away from the basket because
by the time she drives, she drives past nobody. By
the time she gets to the hoop, there are a
couple of help defenders over there. So if anything, you
could say, hey, it was too much because once she
got the ball going to the basket, okay, everybody kind
of goes to try to stop the play. So that

(24:10):
need to be a little bit more. She gets it
a little bit closer to the hoop. It's probably an
easier layup for her. But you see, she gets all
kinds of attention and still she's scoring points. She's leading
the team and scoring She is having some sort of
impact already on the league as far as interest, as
far as people watching other teams as well, And she's
going to be just fine. She already is just fine.

(24:32):
And eventually they're gonna start playing teams that are at
the top of the WNBA, and these impressive games that
she's having that will lend in defeat will be more
impressive games that will end in victories all right, because
they've already played two of the top three teams every
game they played in this oh so far in the
season with the home and homes they've had. This is
their second home game, the home and home with the Sun.
So eventually the schedule will lighten up a little bit.

(24:55):
Probably will coincide with her hitting the wall because it's
a lot of basketball. It's gonna wind up being a
lot out of basketball for her coming off the NCAA season,
then not too much time off before she's got to
start playing again. So yeah, she's gonna want to say, boy,
this is a lot. I've never played this much basketball before.
So she's gonna hit a little bit of a lull,
but then she'll get that second win and she'll be
able to finish strong. But I think what we've seen

(25:16):
is that everything is great. She's going to be great.
She's must see TV anywhere we go. She's still hitting
logo threes, she's still scoring points, even though the other
teams are selling out to stop her because they don't
want her to embarrass her. We're not gonna let Caitlyn
Clark come in and not in this house and do it.
And she's getting attention that nobody else is getting. And
she's still scoring seventeen to twenty points a game. She's

(25:36):
the team's high score she's already their high scorer. She's starting,
she's playing all the minutes. Caitlin Clark, everything is gonna
be just fine. Yeah, I mean, watching a bunch of
it was. They were one of the early doubleheader games
on Saturday, getting to watch some of the sparks and
the sky and you see, you got Angel Reese hanging
out with Megan v Stallion and number of female rasps

(26:00):
and getting some run there and embracing Chicago Cameron brank
Uh and on her teammate that were drafted in this
year's draft. They were out throwing out the first pitch,
great photo ops with Shoheo Tani and then obviously Caitlyn
Clark getting a lot of run and.

Speaker 6 (26:17):
Television coverage for her games. We were just excited, I think,
as anybody that's paying attention to the league at all,
that the ankle injury when she was trying to stop
ahead of screen that was being set for her defensively,
and you watched how that ankle uh kind of rolls like, oh,
that's not good.

Speaker 1 (26:35):
So the fact that she got back in the game.

Speaker 6 (26:36):
Yeah, Hey, modern medical science and the resiliency of the
human body, uh never ceased to amaze me.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
But to this point, you know why she gets a.

Speaker 6 (26:46):
Lot of extra coverage and a lot of defenses are
key in to stop her.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
It's a shocker, but it's your number one reason comes
back again, one reason. One reason why because the fever
stink ergo, she's gonna get more attention.

Speaker 6 (27:02):
Say, maybe don't stink as much, right, So it's the
idea that she's gonna get a lot of run. And
look some of the review of the earlier turnovers. Look,
your teammates got to handle passes too, And it's not
to absolve her and and put a halo on her
or wings or whatever you want to do. Still make
a mistakes, still some growing pains, but she's played a

(27:25):
lot of basketball. We've talked about all of the fact
that you had six weeks between the end of your
college season and into training camp, and tadah, there you
are in the regular season. So yeah, there's gonna be
adjustments and still getting to learn your teammates. But bit
by bit it all comes together logo, three point shots,
highlight reels, whatever, And folks can root for it to fail,

(27:49):
they can root for it to succeed.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
It just is okay.

Speaker 6 (27:53):
You know, you don't have to go to jump to
either extreme and you don't have to be a hot
take theorist when it comes to the w NBA and Clark.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
And if you don't like the topic, that's fine. We'll
move along, and folks that are talking about it, we'll
move along to another topic soon enough. Look, it already
is good. It's already good. It's already must see. All
her highlights are all over the place. Number one trending
topic on Twitter tonight, all right was a Leah Boston.
I just just tell you where and how quickly she

(28:22):
has lifted up the w NBA. Because as great as
all the other rookies are, right, Brink is great, and
you want to talk about Cameron Brink and Angel Rees
they're all great, nobody's Caitlin Clark, right. You have to
understand that she is bringing this league a different sort
of attention that they've never had before. And so that's
that's the main reason that we're seeing this. And and

(28:42):
now because of that, we're seeing other players that were recognized.
And that's the best part is that you can bring
up Cameron Brink and Angel Reese and and and everybody
knows who they are, right And oh, yeah, I know
she is. I know she is. I know she is. Yeah,
she got she had this place, she had this. A
Leah Boston, I know she did this. She missed that.
Now a Leah boss is the one who missed the layup.
But it's really something that all of a sudden, this

(29:06):
has arrived where every night, whether she plays or not,
the WNBA is a big deal. Just think about that
she's done that just by showing up and walking into
the ligue of telling you Magic and Larry, She's done it.
And for those you know that.

Speaker 6 (29:18):
Lastly, the remember how everybody was getting there yucks up
about the secondary ticket market last week for the home opener. Oh,
it's only five Bucks. Guess what they already got face value.
That means somewhat into secondary market.

but straight ahead. How about this big NFL headline from
today we told you about last week. We'll get to
that next. Jason and Mike. As you remember the season
that finished for the New York Knicks. This is Fox

(30:11):
Sports Radio and he took me to a next game
and they lost, and I was sad. I never went
to a game again.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific and TJ.

Speaker 1 (30:32):
Clearly, the Knicks couldn't linger anymore in the playoffs in
the NBA TJ just like Vancouver. Yeah, looks like Edmonton's
going to the Western Conference Finals. Big game seven tonight.
Eilers lead the Canucks three nothing about a minute to
go in the second period.

Speaker 6 (30:49):
They're up to twelve shots though. Yeah, that's they' getting
there making it respectable.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
We're at knucksy, Paul Burrey, Russian rocket, get you, I
have the script? Oh, you have the script? Happened to
lose a collapse, that malone collapse. That would be like
the guy that predicted for Roger's gonna blow out his
achilles on this turf in about two hours. Wait, Frostburg

(31:14):
said they were gonna they were gonna win. Psychic but
big NFL story today, and again it goes back to
something we talked about last week. What do we say
about what the Chiefs franchise really is. Okay, they can
be awful. They have the image of Patrick Mahomes and
Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift and Andy Reid, and they

(31:36):
do the State Farm commercials and they're fun. But also
remember this is a franchise that's gonna allow people to play.
They take the NFL back twenty five years to it
doesn't matter what you do off the field. If you
can play and we need you, we're gonna let you play.
Rashi Rice is taking part in OTA's for the Chiefs. Right,
this is someone Forget about Harrison Bucker for a second. Right,

(31:59):
Harrison's what he said. You don't like what he said.
You don't like what he said something that's not something
you're going to cut a guy over. Is not even
about Harrison Bucker, which Rashi Rice being allowed to be
with the team with an arrest already documented and a
suspect in an assault case it's being investigated. Yeah, no,

(32:21):
stay away from the team. No, hey, we're gonna sit
you down for a little bit. No appearance of hey,
we want you know, you gotta protect the shield, you
gotta you gotta do things right, especially the traffic incident
where people were hurt and went to the hospital and
this is document. This is not anything well we're waiting
to see. No, this happened, and we know what happened.
And now, oh, by the way, you're the suspect and
an assault at a bar from a few nights ago,

(32:42):
and he's still allowed to be with the team. This
is who the Chiefs are. When Tyreek Hill was going
through the whole rip about about his son with a
broken arm, and what do we hear from from the
from the prosecutors. We know what happened, we just can't
prove it in a court of law. Did the Chiefs
do anything to date? Want hey, listen, we want to
make sure that you know that, hey, domestic abuse is
really no. Tyreek Hill played. Tyreek Hill played all the

(33:03):
way through and then they let him go, let him
leave after all. Okay, we're gonna let Tyreekill go someplace else,
but he played, didn't get suspended. Here's Rashie Rice. You
think he should be away from the team while this
is going on. This is a really bad thing. Yeah,
but you know what doesn't matter, because this is how
the Chiefs do it. This is how this is how
they've done it for all of this. All the Chiefs.
What a great franchisse Yeah yeah, And you can get
even past that to where players think it's one of

(33:25):
the worst run franchises out there. They don't they don't
have certain amenities that all other teams have. I wonder
what it would be like without Mahomes, if Mahomes on
a different team would be all the Chiefs. The Chiefs
I don't think so. But this is But you look
at this, this, these are awful things for the Chiefs
to do, to say yeah, and for the Chiefs to
shrug their shoulders and go, well, what do you want
us to do? We're still waiting to see how things go. No,
we know what happened. We got a couple of things

(33:47):
with Rashee Rice. This is bad, man, this is bad.
But and especially for when you allowed Tyreek Hill to
play and there was nothing that you may made it
seem like you were gonna do anything with it. We're
just gonna let him play. This takes the end back
to pre Roger Goodell, where Paul tagli but was you
could get a duy a Saturday night and still suit
up and play on Sunday.

Speaker 6 (34:08):
But it's the hard part is what they've tried. And
it puts you in a difficult position because you know,
the league is about playing and what if we argued
oftentimes with players, wouldn't they be better served being around
the team because the knuckleheadedness and everything comes in the
offseason one when they're not there. So in theory, they're

(34:28):
in a better place being around the team. And as
you said, it's all being investigated and adjudicated, and it
becomes the does the team have to play judge, jury
executioner the league while the legal processes go through, because
that was one of the big criticisms of Goodell is
that he'd gone too far the other way right, where
you had Tagliabu who did nothing, and then Goodell was, well,

(34:51):
there's a hint of an investigation. You're away from the team,
stay away from the team, and we're trying to figure
out where that muddled middle is in a lot of this.

Speaker 1 (34:59):
Well, I think Roger Goodell thought that Okay, I'm gonna
do this. I'm only you have to do it a
couple of times because then people are gonna understand, Okay, wow,
I really I don't want that to happen to me.
And then it still happened.

Speaker 6 (35:07):
But again it still becomes the you know, one percent
and I hate when we get into the one percenters,
but that's what it is of the league. And in
this case, you got a guy who's got two things right,
but it's still just one guy. And across a league
where a lot of guys do some really great things
in their communities and our stand up guys that you've
got the knucklehead effect as we call it, that that

(35:31):
stains it. And so for the team, I think you're
trying to to figure out where where you put your
hand on the scale. Is it all right wait until
something needs to be done versus we act and we're
proactive about it. And then a guy who and again,
importance to the team varies, and Rashi Rice has a

(35:52):
level of great importance to them. But also, you know,
are we doing him a disservice if we send him
away from the team while this is being investigated. I
don't know that there's any other solution that makes sense
other than to say it doesn't.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
It doesn't need to be official. It could just be
stay away. Hey, they're doing the right thing. They know
he's going to get suspended at some point, Like there's
got to be a suspension coming for this. But even
if it's just that simple now, no, no, still part
of the team is still the OTAs Wow, really, like
I mean really, it sets the NFL back twenty five years.

Speaker 6 (36:23):
Oh, it becomes the battleover optics right and perception for
the league and what you're willing to allow against said
shield you know versus you know everything is is wrong
if it comes down this way, right, And I think
it's a delicate balance that they're trying to trying to

(36:45):
stand here.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
It's it's it's not surprising. Again, they've they've had a
track record of this now a couple of times. This
is all within the last five years. It's not like, well,
this happened in two thousand and four. This is in
the last five years. And again, none of this has
to do with Butcker. None of this has to do
with the Butcker situation. That's gompletely different. This is just wow,
really this was this was a situation that was extremely
bad and extreme and and again he's charged with crimes

(37:08):
and multiple crimes as Yeah, no, still come play. I
mean that's sometimes the optic is everything.

Speaker 6 (37:13):
And he gets to help your squad until he has
to go away.

Speaker 1 (37:17):
I've been trying to tell you guys for years what
they are exit at about a fresco exit swalling down
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmen
coming up next. Yeah, we'll get back into the roast
that's been going on most of the night to night
here on Fox. I should be yes, no, look because

(37:37):
well we'll get to you know something else that really
pisses me off about this are but again something else
the Knicks. The Knicks don't upset me. They went as
far as they could, Like we talked about this. It's
not the Knicks, it's not the Knicks. But I will
say first, this series turned on that nem Hard three,
Like that was that. This was the Knicks closed were

(37:57):
slowly closing on the Pacers in Game three and a
game that they gave away. They missed some shots, but
it doesn't matter. They were going to get the basketball
back with a chance to win the game at the
end of regulation and Nemhard hits a three that he
still doesn't believe he made it. He's got no memory
of it. He just blacked out. Haliburton can't believe he
made He's crying on the court like it was after

(38:18):
the Latones shot, and Thomas Hill was, oh my god,
I got I mean that shot that flipped the series.
That he just keeps just missing the shot though, because
it's a thirty one flame from their worst player who
just threw it up because he had no choice because
he had But it was a good step back shot,
like there was.

Speaker 6 (38:34):
It wasn't a he threw it over his head. He
was trying to pretend he was curly, and he was.
He was like Woody Harrison, a white man can't jump
when he gets Rosie Perez on on Jeopardy and he
makes the hook shot from the further end.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
Yeah, can I use a hook shot? Yeah? Sure, that
was like the shot. I think that had a better
chance of going in than them Hard's three and he made. Dude,
Mike Breen's been waiting his whole career to call a
shot like that. No.

Speaker 7 (39:01):
Not.

Speaker 1 (39:01):
If that was a really big he would have given
a double bang. He gave a double bang earlier. He
gave only one bang from them. You know who got
double bang that the Knicks. Yeah, okay, I could. I
could go further, but I'm not going to please do No.
It is a roast after all, So I mean that's it.
Come on, find the line. That was the exact time
where that series went from, Oh, now we have life,

(39:23):
and now we can go because everything went was going
according to plan for the next they reeled them in.
They were taking over the game, and the entire time
that possession for the Pacers was oh no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
oh yes, that's what that possession was it was Ah,
there's there's no there. I mean that maybe the Pacers
sold their souls for the next fifty years for to

(39:45):
make that shot. I went that flipped everything. It flipped everything.
By the way, thanks for that sound drop you just
gave us as well. That's her. You know, I'm here information.

Speaker 6 (39:54):
Her dance and the gift of the dance will live
forever here in the hallways.

Speaker 1 (39:59):
Of sports radio. Uh.

Speaker 6 (40:01):
And you can you can hate on them hard. He
had twenty points in the season crushing season. Who I
think Rick Smith's had twenty points. But I think Dale
Davis had twenty points in that game. And while that
might have been Antonio Davis had twenty points in that game,
it would have been nice to see them roam the painting.
I think Hope Davis had twenty points in that Ye.

Speaker 1 (40:21):
Hope Davis. That's pretty good. Uh. Now, look as far
as I said, but the Knicks, I'm fine. The Knicks
went as far as they could with with where they were,
the injuries to the team. I feel great about next year,
their future. It's awesome. But this is what gets.

Speaker 6 (40:37):
Joe Hartenstein signs away because he can make a lot
more money elsewhere.

Speaker 1 (40:41):
Well, listen, we gotta trade somebody to get to get
somebody good. You know, we gotta trade somebody from a tibri.
You know we got we gotta trade. We gotta trade somebody.
I mean, look, look the Knick. The Knicks are set
up for a great future because they have their identity
and they've had it. They are Jalen Brunson driven there,
Phil and Over driven. Now you have everything you need.

(41:03):
You have the draft picks. You have eight first round picks.
You can deal. You have Julius Randall in his contract.
You have a lot you can do to get that
other star player that you need. You have Anunobi, you
need one, you need one more start. They're gonna go
star shopping. They will get what they need, either in
free agency or via trade. But I'm everything into that.

(41:23):
What do you mean who's buying in terms in terms
of the players that you want out there? This is
where I get to let you be amateur GM and
your little cat on, let your train run around as
your your your building empire is which star player says,
you know what I want to go? Commit to playing
forty minutes a night of Nolan Richardson Like basketball as

(41:44):
an NBA that was that was that was out of
necessity because there wasn't anybody else. No, no, no, no, But
it's still the Tom Thibodeau way.

Speaker 6 (41:52):
Yeah, is the point I'm trying to trying to make
of which superstar that you want to go into the
market to trade for. It's gonna, man, Not only do
I love I mean I like the culture they have
there and everybody's bought in and it certainly is a team,
and boy, why can't I have that? You know, like
the end of Jerry Maguire, Why don't we have that
kind of thing?

Speaker 1 (42:12):
When it's when the Knicks have become cool and how
they've owned the playoffs the last couple of weeks. Mats
is like, but playing that style, anybody wants to go,
it will be fine because the Knicks will be deep
enough that you're not to worry. I'm not gonna play
forty minutes if they make it, like for a guy
like Joel Embiid, which obviously not gonna trade for Joel Ebiid.
He's got to say I want out, I want to
go to New York. But it's going to be any

(42:34):
of these guys, whether it's it's Karl Anthony Towns. But
now the Minnesota Timberwolves run may change things for him
a little bit. But there's there's so many. Look, you know,
Don Mitchell is dying to get out there. Come on,
come on, it was supposed to be there a couple
of years ago. I want out now. I don't know
that he's a great fit. But there's there's stars that
they can go out and get very easily, because now
the Knicks have become cool again. They are the cool team. Yes,

(42:57):
I'm ready to go there and I can be the
missing piece and I can see what it's like to
play in MSG. I can see the guys being treated
as heroes. This is what I see. A Smith will
never talk to this about me again. I don't have
to worry about anything on television anymore. Look, it'll happen.

Speaker 6 (43:10):
The guys will all kiss my ass if I changed
my surname to James Nix.

Speaker 1 (43:15):
Will get what. They have a strong head coach, they
have a strong leadership. Now the Knicks have turned their
their organization around very quickly, and now it is they
are safe. It's like it's like you know in the
Simpsons when the Springfield Savings safe from eighteen seventy nine
to nineteen ninety six. Like it's it's you're safe to
go to the Knicks. Now, you're safe to put your
money in this IRA. You're safe to put the money
in this bank. You're safe to get bounced in the

(43:36):
second round. You're safe to invest. Uh yeah, yeah, Lakers
make it to the safe to get bounce in the
second round. They'd love to make it the second round. Uh,
it's safe, it's safe to go. It's run well because
he's maybe they got seventeen championships, matter what how many championships?
How many have I seen ten of them? Who's gone
seen ten of them? Okay, how many in the last year?

(43:58):
When the Knicks are good? Non? Zero zero? The good
they should have been the oh he would cook McConnelly everybody.
They shot seventy percent from the flight because they played
no team in NBA history had ever done that before.

Speaker 6 (44:19):
Nixon sold their soul to get to that point and
the devil came to collect so.

Speaker 1 (44:24):
One by one, one by one, the bell the way
that you should have got more. Correction, Jason, I've seen
eleven the nd season tournament. Oh I forgot the I
s T you did when I'm sorry, I forgot about
the five hundred thousand dollars bonuses. I forgot about the
IS s T. I did. I forgot I five hundred

(44:44):
thousand dollars, Buddy, I said, I forgot. I forgot the
IS S T. Was that big a thing? I forgot?
You're right, I completely forgot. Well, I mean, Adam Silver
want big a deal? That no, because you can see
how big it is compared to the NBA playoffs. Can't
you say how big it is? Can you see now
how huge the ist is? Hey, there were two champions
this year, the Lakers and you know, the Timberwolves. We

(45:06):
were one of the two champs. That's what it was.
That's like the n I T winner saying, well it
was us and Yukon. We were the two champions. I
mean it was zoo one. You know, we were the
sixty ninth best team. They were the first best team.

Speaker 6 (45:17):
Every day I tell you find your wins. You know what,
today we all woke up. We defeated the grave for
one more day.

Speaker 1 (45:24):
But I'll tell you what, uh what upsets men? And
I can't say this is surprising because this is more
of the category of embarrassing yet expected. Okay, after the
series is over, Reggie Miller decides to go on social
media and troll the Knicks with this post on Instagram
when the series changed, and it's got a it's it's

(45:45):
got a picture of from the series. He's a broadcast professional.
When when when? When Josh Hart came over to tell him,
they're saying, blank you, Reggie Jalen Brunson, You're a true baller,
been the best player in these playoffs. But you and
your boys can all heel up together on some beautiful beach.
Kang kun, please enjoy. God don't like ugly Pacers. Knicks
rivalry lives all right now. Look this is embarrassing yet expected,

(46:08):
because the Knicks rivalry is all the Pacers and Reggie
Miller have. That's all they have the history of the
Indiana Pacers. Well, what do they have? Reggie Miller's eight
points and nine seconds and beating the Knicks in the playoffs.
Here they're now four and three all time against the
Knicks in the playoffs. This is all the Pacers have.
No One would even pay any attention to the Pacers
if they didn't have a playoff rivalry with the Knicks.

(46:29):
Where now they've won one more time than the Knicks.
Half Reggie Miller owes his entire career to the eight
points and nine seconds and the trolling with Spike Lee
and the Knicks fans and the choke signed. He owes
his entire career. That's all he's remembered for him and
his eighteen points a game. That's what he's remembered for.
Is this all he has is the Knicks. He likes

(46:50):
the city and go, yeah, look the Knicks. Yeah, yeah,
that's all he has. Without those eight points and nine seconds,
It's a very easy career to go. Oh, Reggie Miller
was a good shooter. Yeah, I remember, he was pretty good.
He owes his entire career to the Knicks and to
that game, because you saw if they lost this series,
it would be how the hell do you lose to
three guys from Villanova? And I mean three, that's the
three guys they were down to play. Really was two

(47:12):
guys at the end, really was a guy and a
half at the end because Brunson broke his hand and
and you know that Josh Hart wasn't healthy. How do
you lose this? It's more embarrassing for the Pacers if
they didn't win with a Knicks guy getting hurt every
five minutes like a horror movie when someone dies every
ten minutes, someone gets hurt every game and a half,
someone goes out for the Knicks. But this is Reggie Miller,
right this, it's it's it's it's something that is again,

(47:35):
it's embarrassing yet expected and and the best part of
this is that this is an NBA team, whether it's
Reggie Miller or Tyrese Halliburton, you know, wearing the Reggie
Miller choke signed sweatshirt after it is over. This is
a team that has decided we're gonna pick a war
with the team's fan base, not really at war with
the Knick Knicks. Knicks didn't say anything during the playoffs

(47:55):
to upset. There was no war of words between Brunson
and Thibodeaux and Carlisle anybody else. No, they've decided we
want to troll Knicks fans like this is the franchise,
not the other team. Because we had a back and
forth and it was really contentious and all no, no, no,
we we decide we want to get involved with a
fan base. This is the Pacers. All they have are
the Knicks and their fans because they no one would

(48:17):
even know anything about them if they didn't have it.
They would say Indiana Patris, they would say, is that
whe Kaitlyn Clark plays no fever? Oh right, Pacers there
the other team right right, right, right right. That's like
five time All Star, All Time seven fifth Anniversary squad.
He's a gold medalist, He's he's an American hero. Nobody
would pay any attention to him if he didn't have
the eight points and nine seconds. Nobody would. Nobody would.

(48:38):
And again look at him dining out on this like, oh,
thank goodness this has come up because I get to
sit here and remind people about my eight points and
nine seconds and this and the choke gesture and Spike
Lee and that boy, this has made my career. That's
what it is. It's one moment made his career, one
moment in time.

Speaker 6 (48:54):
We all want one moment what he wants, But this
is this is a barrage of eight points. He had
a he had a terrific eighteen point a game career
for a shooter like that, eighteen a game.

Speaker 1 (49:04):
I mean, that's some kind of career. This is all
people know. So now you're disparaging. No, there's no sarcasm.
And he's got to be in the Hall of Fame,
isn't he? For as good as he was. He made
the All Star Team five times, once out of every
three years for his career, he made it. That's that's
not bad. One out of every three years making an
All Star team, it's not bad. One out of three
make the team, don't make the team, don't make the team,

(49:25):
make the team, don't make the team, don't make the team,
make the team. That's pretty good. I mean, he's a
Hall of Famer five times. Pretty good. Well, you have
to make All Star Team five five times, it's pretty good.
But he's a Hall of Fame. He wouldn't be in
the Hall of Fame he didn't have the eight points
and nine seconds. He would not be in the Hall
of the career that he had. No, you have to
have five time all seven moment. But in his moment,

(49:46):
he's in the Hall of Tell me one other moment
you remember from his career. This sign after your nitch
just lost this.

Speaker 6 (49:54):
That's twenty years after his career is over and it's
on television. Look what he did he was able to
get but he brought it back and bam, he hasn't
played bangs bag.

Speaker 1 (50:05):
He got you again. The second moment you know from
him is what happened ten minutes ago. How great is that?
That's what I thought he was able to bring it
back full circle. He had and he gotted you again.
If I can see it in your face, if you're
hatred for Reggie Miller right now, you'd lightsaber him if
you get in that the young lady, if you said

(50:28):
to Reggie hate you can do your whole career again.
What do you want to do? It's I want to
play for the Knicks. I guarantee you. I want to
play for the Knicks. That's what he wants. But instead
he's known as the Knicks Killer. But he said, I
want to troll Knicks fans about Kenkun to this, Yeah,
I'll get great red. But they probably sold them. If
he got a cut of all of the.

Speaker 6 (50:46):
T shirts being worn in Indiana, if he's in that gesture,
did hopefully god it.

Speaker 1 (50:51):
I hope he had someone.

Speaker 6 (50:52):
For some T shirts and make a few bucks selling
them outside the arena.

Speaker 1 (50:56):
In the next round. Again, this is what upsets me,
because he has his whole career is oh, he owes
it to the next. He'd be nothing without the Knicks,
be nothing without me. You'd be nothing like Mozart and Salieri.
Salari said, you'd be nothing without Okay, it's what it is.
Exit out about a Fresco exit swollen down The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmen Lot from

(51:17):
the Tirack dot Com studios. Coming up next. Yes, we
have more from the NBA and a fantasy football legend
has called it quits. We remember the career in the
one magical year of this player. Coming up next, Jason
and Mike Fox and the horrendous trade that resulted after

(51:39):
that year. Okay, that's coming up next Fox
