(00:50):
You know, my new podcast is a Hobo with Thoughts?
Really yeah? Is that really? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (00:55):
I'm gonna register the domain. Oh okay, but Alex has
been building an open for me.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Oh very good. So you came up with a name
and now you figure out what the content's going to be.
Just like an axe, how about we do uh a
retail or free market. Hey, that's a great idea. What
what do we older? Well, I don't know. I just
can't with the title and thought you might like it.
Oh it's good. No, I've finally caught up. So I'm
having fun with that. This season. It's more entertaining than

(01:20):
the game we saw. Oh, this is the best season
of Hacks. This is absolutely the best season of Hacks.
It's so funny. And you got W. L. Brown in
the last one. Yeah, you know who that comedian was
was Brian Drew. Uh. Just just really quick before you
get it back into into the Celtics, because it's time
to say something different about the Celtics. So big NBAK
news today, the Cavaliers fired JB. Bickerste They did after

(01:42):
a few years. And this despite the fact that they
got to the Conference semis this year. They couldn't get
past the Celtics. But Donovan Mitchell wasn't playing Jared Allen.
You know everybody's heard it's it's not like they didn't achieve.
But I also understand that, Okay, you're at a point
where something has to happen. Maybe this will help them
keep Donovan Mitchell. Maybe it's going to be part of

(02:04):
a move. They're going to keep bringing somebody else. If
it brings Lebron James home to be a coach, I'm
gonna I'm the new coach of the Cavaliers.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
But look, just something a little bit different here for
a second. If I wanted to go into coaching, right,
and I thought about this back when when when Bernie
Bickerstaff was coaching, If I want to go into coach,
I know I want to be a coach. Sometimes nomenclature
is everything, right, Harry Potter, nomenclature is everything, you know.
If if I was going into coaching, I would change

(02:34):
my last name from Bickerstaff, because it does. It's not
a great optic. Hey, here's a coach. What's your coach's name?
Bicker Staff. So what happens with his staff? We bicker
I mean, it's done. It's not a great optic.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
I want to go back in the history of it.
Oh here Bickerstaff names were assigned.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
I'm yeah, sure now, but I feel you know it's Bickerstaff. Yeah, Well,
well I bet I bet you His coaches all hate him. Man,
they fight all the time. They can't do I mean really,
I mean, I would change my name. I would go, Hey, how.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
About Harmony Staff. That'd be my name, Harmony that goes
on with this guy and his staff, Bickerstaff. That's tough,
tough name. Yeah, Harmony staff.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Because people would think the average fan, what do you
think of JB. Bickerstaff is a tough guy to get
along with. Man, very difficult. I don't know him. And
Donn and Mitchell didn't see eye to eye. I bet
you his name is Bickerstaff. What do you expect just
leans into it. Yeah, love Staff. Although, wow, that's I
don't know. I don't know about that. Yes, I don't
know about that. That's kind of different. Yes, I know.
We have a whole other kind of I'll go I'll

(03:36):
go back to harmon I'll go back to Harmony staff.
I think I'll go back to Harmony staph. Yeah, Harmony staff.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
But I think we could start an industry off the
other one, Harmony staff.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
I think there's already an industry that I think we
can have. We could just have a movie that's good
Time Again with the title and they have the movie.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
I mean, I mean it's a series of movies, and
I mean love Staff said, all of the destiny, all
the accessories that you can sell surrounding Love Love Love.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Love Staff fourteen treble cleff. Uh. You know, hey, now
it's a treble cliff and there's bass and trouble. You
to sing some Megan trains. No, I'm all about that
bass about that band? Uh? So does that still work
the same way?

Speaker 5 (04:22):
You know?

Speaker 1 (04:23):
What do you mean people? Are people still all about
that bassy? She?

Speaker 4 (04:27):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (04:28):
And no trouble? I don't know. I would ask her though,
maya try Jason Smith, Fox Sports Radio trouble. Yes, no,
travel just wasn't part of the song. Now.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
She was carrying extra bass and she leaned out, so
it's not the same bass.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
When Zoe, when Zoe was in kindergarten, she came home
one day and she was really upset. So what's matter?
She was? Miss Davis, a teacher who was an awesome teacher, said, hey,
she she gave us a song we're not allowed to
sing in class? What she is? We can't sing all
about that bass? And I'm like, oh, well, I understand
that because you're five. But yeah, but that's well why
I said, Well, because sometimes songs have things in them

(05:01):
that teachers don't want out there. It's not it's not important.
Uh here, let's go get ice cream. But just yeah,
you can't. I want you to sing that song. We
just got a bunch of fire girls walking around going
and I'm all about that bass, about that bass, about
that bass. No travel.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Bass can mean something else, like here's a sampling of
Sting playing bass in this Megan ship.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
This time do do Do Do? Do Do Do do?
In this one, it's it means something a little different.
Here's whether without you Doff McKagan. Here's whether without you
by you too? Ding ding bing bing bing bing bing
bing bing bing bing bing bing bing bing bing, ding
bing bing bing bing bing bing bing ding ding ding
ding bing bing bing bing bing binge The Celtics win

(05:42):
one twenty six. One time we got Rick Bucker coming up.
And when you send me all too Well by Taylor Swift.
My kids hate when I do that.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Do I start?

Speaker 1 (05:49):
I start singing with or without you? When that's like
I hate you, I'm just gonna go. It's so easy.
I decided to go there instead. That That was my
prom song. Actually with it without you. I hated it,
hated it and did not want it. Everybody in my
class they loved you too, You Too is the greatest
bad ever. And I'm listening to Poison and Guns and

(06:11):
Roses and they're like, oh meanwhile, five years later, like, oh, man,
guns and Roses really is the best band. Oh when
I was seventeen telling you all great Guns and Roses were, No,
You Too is the best man. Songs are about stuff. Man,
Oh they all wanted you to. They all wanted you
to And I was like, you gotta be kidding me.
And that's what one. I voted for Striper honestly really yeah, yeah,

(06:31):
but I was like one of the only ones strike
Try got on the ballot. Well, there were four songs
on the ballot. It was it was with or without you?
It was what was a song from American Tale? Uh?
Fivele Goes West? Whatever that? Wow? Yeah? Whatever the the
the ballad was from from uh from that movie? And no, no, no, no,
no no, a little toaster goes to Mars. I don't

(06:53):
even know what that is. Oh it's a toaster that
goes to Mars. I I I figured that self expor
what is it? What is it? It's like all dogs
go to Heaven? What do you think happens?

Speaker 3 (07:01):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (07:01):
So like fivele Goes West dogs go to Heaven. Yes,
Toasters go to Mars. Yes, Oh okay, I see where
you're going. Ronstadt song dream to Dream, No, no, no,
it's another song.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
Now.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
I had a bigger song was Almost Paradise from there
Mike Reno and Wilson. I don't see it on the sound.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Okay, but whatever whatever song from James Horner going on here?

Speaker 1 (07:19):
So all right? So it was it was It was
honestly by stripper whatever song from that, because I remember
it was like we were like, what's that souff for?
It's from an American tale too? Five goes West like
that sounds terrible, and uh, I want to say. Almost
Paradise was the other one, which I which I love
that song, but I'm like, hey, you know me metal guy,
I'm like, hey, let's have the Christian metal band do it.

(07:41):
I loved Honestly, I'm like, yeah, let's have Honestly, no,
I didn't win. It was like you two and a
landslide that won every time. I, Oh, let's go down.
YouTube is playing? YouTube? Is there? You two?

Speaker 3 (07:51):
Is that American tail had somewhere out there from the Oh,
that's what it was. That's what it was from somewhere
out west that was. That's the one somewhere out there
that that was the other song. Yeah, and I'm like,
I'm not voting for that, so we got to you
have to vote one, two, and three, So vote honestly
number one, almost paradise number two.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
And then then I left the blank like that couldn't
go for the James Ingram with Linda Ronsta. Oh I
could have gone for like on the Wings of Love,
but that wasn't part of the choices. Oh now you're
in the clouds above to gear the flying high. Oh no, no,
nothing better than when you hear so no, no, that
was Jeffrey Osborne on the Wings. Yeah, okay, James Ingram

(08:28):
was he was hanging out with No no, no, no, Donald. Well
you don't know me, but I got a new autobiography.
So it is Cramer. Uh so again again Still it's
been thirty years and of sudden like I can't believe
that baby come to me. Oh yeah yeah, let me
put my arms around. He had a couple other b there.

(08:51):
Oh yeah, yeah, Kacy Case, it's James Ingram with Yamoby there.
If I hear yamobre one yab there. Uh the Celtics
win tonight over the Pacers. And look, the general consensus
when you hear conversations about the Celtics is and it's
it's to an extent, and it's true. Hey, they give

(09:13):
you games. Sometimes they're not as mentally strong as you
think they need to be and they fall short. And
we've seen them do this and they they just don't
have everything you need to win a title. And we're
wait for and we wait for the Celtics to fall
on their faces. That's why we have said throughout the playoffs,
this is their year. If they don't win this year,
they're never gonna win. Man, everybody is hurt. Jimmy Butler

(09:35):
is hurt, Donovan Mitchell is hurt. Now, Tyrese Aliburton is hurt.
And whoever comes out of the Western Conference, I'm sure
Luca or Anthony Edwards will be hurt at something. Put
that on me, Ricky, Bobby, I'm sure that's what's gonna happen.
But but more more specifically on this is that the
Celtics are criticized because it's hard to realize who are they,
what's their identity, what's their system? And and from a

(09:58):
basketball perspective, it it's not as pretty as other teams
are because it's kind of like, well, I don't really
know what Joe Mizzoola is trying to run and really understand,
but what you have to get from the Celtics, And
this is very difficult when you are when when you're
coaching a team or when you're on a team that
just can out talent everyone. And Jason Tatum and Jalen

(10:21):
Brown and Drew Holliday and when he's playing Christops Porzingis,
these guys can out talent so many teams. Well that's it.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
You don't even have Porzingis here, no, right, and you
got Derek White, who's a marksman from the outside.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Right. I mean like he'll have some games where boy
Derek White hasn't scored a point in three games and
he goes for forty, right, Like tonight he had twenty three.
He was really good from three point range.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
But he wasn't even close to one of the top stories. No, no,
not the other guy's had big games. But they can
so out talent you. And it's not just Tatum and Brown.
Although sometimes you watch Jason Tatum with the ball and
you see the skill set he has being six ' eight,
and it's like he's unstoppable. He's absolutely unstoppable. The two
man games, Jalen Brown, you can see how it works.

(11:02):
And now when you're adding in, Hey, now we have
the defensive stopper and Drew Holliday, just as Tyre's Halliburton.
What it's like going up against Drew Holliday. Now White
is someone who can score a lot. You're adding other
players off the bench. Now, when when Porzingis does come back,
someone's gonna get pushed down a little bit. It's not
a really deep rotation. It's almost like the Knicks, where hey,
they're playing for five or success. If all their guys

(11:23):
are healthy, the Celtics can out talent you. And when
you can out talent someone, sometimes it's hard if you're
a coach to say, all right, I want to.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
Mess with this. No, no, no, I get where we
really go, but I'm gonna mess with this and I'm
gonna take these guys and I'm gonna put them in
this system because I think this system is going to work.
Because what can happen if you do that? Players don't
buy in and they're suddenly not the player they were, right,
Not everybody you can come in and coach them up.
Sometimes it's you come in as a different, different thing.
If you're a coach, you're Joe Mizulitz. Let me make

(11:52):
sure that all these guys are playing to their to
their best of their capabilities, and that's how we're gonna
win games. Is it gonna be pretty all the time?
Is it gonna look like we have a great system?

Speaker 4 (12:02):
No?

Speaker 1 (12:02):
Are these guys gonna make big plays and score thirty
five and forty? Yes? Are we gonna win the vast
majority of our games? Yes, because we can out talent people.
And if you come in as a coach and you say,
all right, hey, we're gonna we're gonna rip this down
to the studs and build it back up with the talent,
and you're gonna go here and you're gonna do this,
you're Is that gonna work? I mean, that's not a

(12:24):
that's not a recipe for success. If anything, it's a
recipe to make your team worse than it is right now. So, yeah,
the Celtics have their flaws, but out talenting teams is
something that's something that you can do. It's just like
a flaw any other team as well. We're not great defensively,
or we don't have a lot of size, you still
find a way around it. The Celtics just have to
find a way, and they have been finding a way

(12:45):
out of Hey, we will out talent you, but what
if we come up with a different system. We do this,
We can do this, We can stop you if you're
mentally not up for the game, like you like you
were like we've seen. Yeah, no, you can do that.
But that's no flaw. That's different than any other team
in the NBA, and especially now when you can say
they can out talent everyone all the way to the
finals because guys are hurting, they're just playing at such

(13:06):
a high level. Yeah, this is their year and you
can do it by out talenting the other team.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
It doesn't have to be perfect. And as we watched
in Game one, Indiana, even with all of the mistakes
twenty two turnovers, can't harp on that enough, all of
the brain freeze moments where that was still their game
to finish, right, and they let the Celtics come and
get them. And we've seen it time and again. Right
coming into these playoffs, they were a five hundred squad

(13:33):
under Missoula home home playoff games. We in game one
you had your opportunity to close it out and you
failed it. And now game two you got bludgeoned. Porzengis.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
Does you don't have to hurry him back now, right,
you don't have to.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
They're expecting game four. But even like you may may
not even need that, right, he may screw you up.
Hezingis back just from a if you can buy them
another four days or a week or whatever before he's
got to come on. And certainly if you can get
him back in the mix, say you're up three to zero,
then yeah, you can get him in and not have

(14:11):
to play him heavy, stressful minutes. But certainly you know
that that's another you know, ace up the sleeve for
Missoula in company. And you've got these guys that they
had their scare right, they had their moment.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
Exit out about a Fresco exit swollen down the Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmence. You just
admit a little bit, a bit of an appreciation bit
for the Celtics as to this is why they're this
good and out talenting teams. It's strategy, man, I like
it may not be the most popular thing but it
works eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox, Jason Smith,
Mike Harmon, Liferom, the Tirack dot Com studios. Coming up next,

(14:50):
Rick Bucker stops by Fox Sports One Insider Extraordinaire are
the Eastern Conference Finals? Over? Is Kyrie Irving really? Still?

Speaker 2 (14:58):
This good?

Speaker 1 (14:59):
Is Brownie? J Jam's going number one in the draft?
Give it right here? That's all next Fox.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

piles of it.

Speaker 4 (15:24):
In fact, Tony, why don't you open up one of
those letters right now and read what's inside? Hey, listen
to this. Dear Pauli and Tony, your sports takes the
dumbest and most terribly.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
Wait open this other one.

Speaker 4 (15:35):

Speaker 2 (15:39):
Wait try this one.

Speaker 4 (15:40):
Dear Paulie and Tony, you guys are the absolute best.
There you go, coming up with the stupidest take.

Get it.

Speaker 3 (15:48):
Just listen to the Polly and Tony Fusco Show on
the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
Yeah, Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Harmon. Celtics are up two games to
none in the Eastern Conference Final? Is it over?

Speaker 4 (16:08):
Hm?

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Nobody better to talk to then Fox Sports won, NBA
Inside or Extraordinary host of the Amabile Podcast. The new
episode out this week will be on all the Knicks
off season needs and who they could trade for. It
is Rick Buker. Rick, what's happening? Bud?

Speaker 5 (16:28):
What is happening?

Speaker 1 (16:31):
Well? I just want to say this for everybody who
was so upset about all the Knicks coverage. Oh that's
too much Knicks, not enough Pacers. Yeah, you really want
the Knicks now? Don't you really missing the Knicks? Aren't
you really missing them? Everybody's missing the Knicks?

Speaker 6 (16:45):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (16:45):
Yeah, I am. I thought if there was gonna be
some intrigue about who gets to the finals out of
the Eastern Conference, the Knicks were the best team to
provide it. Outside of what you know, there's a natural
intrigue with the Boston Celtics because they're always capable of
causing their own demise in some way. So we still

(17:07):
have that to answer the question right off the top,
you know, as the series over now the bus Celtics
are involved, so it's it's never it's never over until
it's over. If they're able to come back free one
and then they're getting Christoph Berzingis back, yes, I would
say that's the case, but I'm not going to go

(17:31):
I'm not gonna go so much by the night's game
because look, if Indiana doesn't execute and doesn't win the
battle of efforts, then they have no chance. Boston is
the more talented team, there's no question about that. And
Indiana just looked discombobulated and a step slow for the

(17:56):
better part of the night. And we've seen this from
them at various times, and then we've seen them turn
it around and give us something that looks completely different,
So especially when they go home in in Indiana. So
ex actually, Tyree Haliburton being out with the hamstring is

(18:16):
a question, but I been watching the game and having
the sound muted, so I don't know if they were
talking about the hamstring and him not coming back, but
him not playing the fourth quarter, I was thinking, Yeah,
Carlisle sped.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
Up like.

Speaker 5 (18:33):
Around on fire, doing absolutely nothing offensively or expensively. For
the most part, I thought, you know what, you're just
kind of shit.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
The fourth quarter.

Speaker 5 (18:41):
We're trying to get try to d McConnell and and
them heart and the rest of the crew, because you're
really not giving us anything. So I you know, we'll see.
Obviously they're better with him, but they're not better with
him the way he played tonight. So I'm but get
back to the original question. I'm not going to say

(19:03):
it's over just because the Boston Celtics have shown us
that they're capable of playing a dominant game and then
for whatever reason, dialing it back, and I think it's
be a very dangerous thing to dial it back against
the Indiana Pacers and give them a little bit of confidence.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
Well, well, here's why I disagree. Rick. It's different for
the Pacers this time going home down to Zip than
it was against the Knicks. But after the first two games,
they were mad, they were mad about the officiating. Rick
Carlisle wind, they still knew talent wise, we can compete
with the Knicks, they're hurt. If we extend the series,
eventually we're going to be able to overwhelm them. But

(19:44):
now here they are going back home down to ZIP
after getting boat raced in this game. When the game
they needed that the Celtics were going to give them
was game one. Like that's the game they forget about.
Oh hey, well we feel good after game one. No,
that's the game you had to have if you were
going to win this series, and you couldn't win it.
And that's how I look at this differently.

Speaker 5 (20:06):
This time, I get that, and I would have I
would give it a little more credence if the fact
was that the Aniana Pacers gave that game away. The
next didn't give that game away. The Pacers gave it away.
They were the better team for the better part of
that game and had the game in hand except for
some last literally some last second execution ten seconds left,

(20:30):
you're up by three and you have to end down
the ball. That should be a win period, and then
they get to overtime and sort of the same thing. Now,
maybe if you want to make the KK look, the
Innana Pacers kind of played this wild and crazy style.
It's what makes them good, but what comes along with it,
much like the Warriors oft times, is you're going to

(20:54):
have turnovers and you're going to have ill time turnovers.
I'm I'm I'm willing to hear that to say, you
know what, this is just part and parcel of what
you get. But they've demonstrated that they're capable of taking
care of the ball and executing when need be, and
can be much much tougher defensively and on the board

(21:17):
than they show tonight. And I still look at without
Christaps for zingis it's not a very big team. And
Diason Tatum and Jalen Brown gave you great effort in
a multitude of ways tonight, but I've also seen those
guys not do that on a consistent basis. So I
just think that's the window. I think the opening is

(21:40):
still there at the very least to make this a
competitive series, if not for Indiana. If you want to say, look,
Aniana really needed Game one to be able to win
the series. Okay, I'm not going to fight you on that,
but I still think that they can make it an
interesting competitive series.

Speaker 3 (21:58):
One thing we can all agree with is that there's
no answer for proscal Siakam.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
You can try to contain him. That did.

Speaker 5 (22:07):
And it's such an unusual game because it's really not
the modern game of he's finishing at the rim or
he's shooting three. Like all of his stuff is mid ranging.
It might be four or five feet, but it's still
mid ranging, and he operates in a place and in
a way that.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
Is just there.

Speaker 5 (22:30):
It's the one thing is it's really difficult to double
team that because it's in the middle of the floor,
and so if you send the second guy, it leaves
guys wide open. So you kind of live with what
he gets. And obviously it didn't hurt them. But yes,
the Saco has really come around in terms of in
my estimation, I always thought he was a hard worker

(22:52):
and he gave you. He gave you something at both ends.
But he's really refined his game offensively to being able
to see the places that he can go and create
the most efficient shot available to him depending on who
is guarding him at the time. And then obviously defensively,

(23:13):
I think he's been he's been really good. He just
needed somebody to come along for the ride, somebody, anybody
come along for the ride, and wasn't Miles Turner, and
I feel like Miles Turner is the X factor in
this series. Like he has to he has to win
the battle with al Horford. He has to almost play
Al Horford off the floor, which then creates additional problems

(23:36):
for Boston and trying to match up other than with Miles.
So I look, Indiana is simply Indiana didn't come, didn't
do anything very well outside of Pascal And I don't
know about you guys, but I'm watching it. I kept
thinking he could make a run. Like I never felt
like they were completely out of it, even though the

(23:59):
score would tell you. In the difference other than when
they closed the two is that they were never they
were never a threat, but they felt threatening. If that
makes sense.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
Well, it's the Celtics history, right.

Speaker 3 (24:12):
It just sits in your head, going all right, here
it comes again, right because they had that twenty nothing
run and then we saw multiple times where the Pacers
went on eight zho ten oh runs to try to
claw back into the game.

Speaker 1 (24:24):
So yeah, I'm with you.

Speaker 3 (24:25):
I think it just sits in your head going all right,
somehow Mizzoula is going to give this one away.

Speaker 5 (24:30):
Yeah, Like you don't trust them That's what it comes
down to. And so when they when they go from
like seventeen and they get it to eleven, you're thinking, oh,
like here it comes. And then very rarely did they
get it. They might have got it to nine here
and there, but it just I don't know. There's there's
some of it is the Celtics, like when when Zalen

(24:51):
and Jason have it rolling like that, then they're really tough,
but they don't always have it rolling, and and when
they don't, they continue to chase it rather than utilizing
all the different pieces that they have.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
And I'll go back to this.

Speaker 5 (25:09):
That I've felt this all along, Like I just I
don't know that Joe Missoula has full control over this team,
and I don't know that he's giving the tent. I
think he liked kind of putting it in the player's
hands and allowing them to decide. And that's fine. There
are coaches who approach it that way. I'm just not

(25:29):
sure that this is a finished enough product to buy
that in the postseason regular seasonal prop your talent is
going to overwhelm teams, especially when you're that much more
talented than anybody else in the Eastern Conference. Your record's
going to look good. And let's face this, they played

(25:50):
two compromised teams prior to this series, and if they
if Haliburton is out, then you could make the argument
that they've had one of the easiest roads to the
finals ever. But I think that they have a reckoning
coming regardless once they get to the once they get
to the finals, if they get to the finals.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
Rick Buker our guest here Fox Sports Radio The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Carmen. All right, let's take a
look at the West now going into Game two tomorrow night,
Mavericks up one game to none. I'm going to give
you a complete the sentence of fill in the blank.
After Game one, the thing that impressed or surprised me
the most was what, what's that thing you take away

(26:32):
from game one that made you raise your eyebrows and
go wow.

Speaker 5 (26:37):
Honestly, there wasn't anything that surprised me because I thought
that the game was I've got Dallas winning the series,
and I thought their execution down the stretch would would
win out. I would say this is the surprise for me.
The surprise was that Minnesota would shoot the three as

(26:58):
well as they did, and they could not build a lead.
That's what really surprised, because they were lights out. They'd McDaniels,
I don't know if he's missed a three yet, Like
they still might be making them somewhere, you know, they
just and they they've they dominated that part of the game,
and yet it really didn't have an impact.

Speaker 6 (27:23):
You know.

Speaker 5 (27:23):
The other obviously, the other the other obvious one is
Anthony Edwards. You're tired, what twenty two years old? You're
easily the most freakish athlete, maybe in the playoffs, but
certainly in this series. And you're gassed because what because

(27:46):
Kyrie defended you or they you know, they've made things
difficult on you, and and then you have to play
defense and like your sucking win. That was that was
almost mind boggling to me. I'm still trying to figure
out like how that happened. But I would say more
so than anything was the fact that Minnesota could shoot

(28:07):
the three as well as they did and still lose
the game and still not like never build like a
formidable lead. And I think that that, you know, that
doesn't bode well for them going forward because I don't
know that they can consistently shoot the three like that,
and the shots that the Dallas was getting were not extraordinary.

(28:31):
You know what Tyrie and Luca did and and how
they got everybody involved. I thought that was a solid
game by them, but it wasn't an extraordinary one by
any means.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
He's on Twitter at Rick Buker, that is at Rick Buker,
Fox Sports one NBA Insider, and hey, maybe maybe we'll
stop Mac Jones and Anthony Edwards now and telling everybody
how great he's the next Michael Jordan. This might tap
the brakes on that a little bit. Rick the tie
tiny bet.

Speaker 5 (28:57):
Ah, thank you? Yeah, God blessed that. And meanwhile, like
I think you and I just need to need to
find a way to uh to get in touch with
the Knicked medical staff because they're the ones who have
all the real insights into into the next show.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
Yeah yeah, just just get ready. Like I said, you're
next on the Ball podcast, the top five targets for
the Knicks this offseason and who they can offload Julius
Randall for. So that's what I won. The next one.

Speaker 5 (29:25):
What I'm hearing is is that Tom Sivideou wants to
extend games to sixty minutes and only play four guys.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
Nice.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
The medical staff is also going to go back and
see the old U X Men movies, so they had
had to add the little in in you know, metallic infrastructure.

Speaker 1 (29:42):
Yeah, to save these guys for broken bones.

Speaker 5 (29:44):
The medical staff is going to be coming from the
Game of Thrones.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
Sure, I like that. Sixty minutes four on four, We're ready.

Speaker 5 (29:52):
Let's go there, Let's go to the death.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
Take it easy, body, enjoy the games. We'll talk to
you all right. You know I put the out there,
but people would think that was real. Oh wait a minute,
Rick Bukers says, looking to change the NBA.

Speaker 3 (30:04):
Yeah, see, you're gonna eat it and get sixty minutes
four on four the blowback, Rick would But you know what,
he enjoys it.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
Of course, of course he does. He'd like to fight
with people over that right now. A guy who loves
to fight. Oh, he does, because I watched him get
a fist fight with a guy over a parking spot
and he was carrying groceries and he still just popped
him right between the eyes. Really, who's it? It's Steve
de Sager, Like.

Speaker 6 (30:28):
No, I'm true. Thank you very much for the pizza tonight.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
By the way, Oh you're welcome.

Speaker 6 (30:32):
If I may actually speak truth in this segment. Sure
it was quite good.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
Thank you. All right. I didn't make it, we just
ordered it. But that's great.

Speaker 6 (30:39):
It was not my idea and I benefited, so I
think you. The Boston Celtics lead the NBA's East Finals
two games to the Folks.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
An end to Holliday throws it back to the trailer
Jalen Brow, who lays it up with any great athletic
playing by.

Speaker 6 (30:53):
Taylor Jalen Brown with forty points in this game. Celtics
Radio Network with that call on ninety eight point five,
the sports huh, and off to Indiana for Saturday Nights
Game three now. Tyrese Haliburton did leave late in the
third with a sore hamsterring at eight assists. Pascal Siakama
the Pacers twenty eight points, but in defeat, Celtics had
that twenty to nothing run in the first half. The

(31:15):
NBA's Western Conference Finals continued tomorrow at Minnesota. MAVs took
the opener. The Cavaliers did fire head coach JB. Bickerstaff
after four full seasons. He made the playoffs the last
two years with fifty one wins and then forty eight.
He was also under contract for two more seasons.

Speaker 1 (31:32):
Again, if you're a head coach and your name is Bickerstaff,
I would change it. Yeah. Not a great not a
great name. People think, Okay, can't get along with anybody.
I changed my name.

Speaker 6 (31:43):
Not so bad for the players, yeah, not good for
the staff.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
No, no, no.

Speaker 6 (31:48):
Bicker Staff went six and eleven in the postseason. You know,
and he had a chance because his dad was a
coach for so many years. He probably saw how this
last name worked or didn't work. Piston's negotiating with New
Orleans general manager trades In Langdon to become Detroit's new
head of basketball operations. Toronto was awarded a WNBA expansion franchise.

(32:10):
The NHL's West Final opener is in overtime at Dallas.
It is two to two Oilers and Stars. Edmonton led
to nothing early in the second. Finally Dallas even the
game with about three and a half minutes left in regulation.
They're midway through the first overtime right now.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
And Edmonton just had a mini breakaway and it looked
like that could end the game. But it looked like
the shot got deflected at the last second, or this
would have been the Oilers three too.

Speaker 6 (32:37):
And the Oilers have been killing penalties now. If you
date back to the regular season, Edmonton has killed six
straight double minors and so they stayed tied in this game.
By the way, New Jersey has a new coach is
Sheldon Keith, ex of Toronto. Travis Green was fired after
five seasons still without a head coach. In the NHL,
San Jose, Seattle and Winnipeg Arizona Cardinals first round wide

(32:58):
receiver Marvin Harrison Junior side his rookie contract. Baseball's late
game went to Baltimore holding on eight to six over
the White Sox, who did mccits four runs in the
bottom of the night to make it interesting extra inning
wins for Oakland and San Diego Phillies won their sixth
straight today five to two over Texas and the Yankee
shout out Seattle five. Nothing back to you, Thank.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
You very much, Steve O. The Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Carmon live from the tirag dot
com studios. Coming up next, we have a large story
from the NBA today. Could Brownie James really go Number one?
Overall in the draft. It's next right here, Jason and

(33:37):
Mike Fox.

Speaker 2 (33:39):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

Speaker 1 (33:46):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon Live from the tirag dot com studios.
Dallas Stars almost ended in overtime, but a deflection goes
just whyde of the net looks like Dushane had it?
Uh so still too too Eilers and the Stars play

(34:07):
on in overtime.

Speaker 3 (34:08):
That could have been a groin injury, injury and splaying
out like that.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
Well, I tell you so. Could Bronnie James go number
one overall? Let me just stop the drama. No, not happening.
But you saw today the big story that Bronnie James
has become somewhat of a betting favorite to be the
top pick in the NBA draft is wait a minute,
is all of a sudden this is about Ronnie James

(34:36):
is great, and he had some kind of great camp
or some kind of no without any sort of consensus
on who the number one overall pick in the draft is.
And I told you Stefan Castle is my guy, right,
that's the guy most like Castle is the guy. I
don't know what. I don't know why you wouldn't. He's done.
He's everything you want in a player. He's the guy

(34:57):
I would.

Speaker 3 (34:57):
Wall Sar gets the Webbin Yama sure, of course, seven
feet handle the ball sold.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
Yeah, But Bronni is getting interest because there's no consensus
number one pick, and of course with many people thinking, oh, well,
wherever Bronny goes, Bron's gonna go there, someone's gonna take
him early draft. Okay, that's not happening. Bronni is not
getting drafted early. In fact, I'll take it he's probably
not gonna get drafted at all, simply because this will

(35:25):
allow him to pick him and lebron to pick where
he starts his career. Right now, I get what's going
on here. Most of these bets that are coming in
are all under one hundred dollars. These are all people saying, hey,
if this comes in at ten thousand to one, I'll
be rich. So, of course Vegas has to make him
a betting favorite because if it does happen for whatever reason,
he's a lot of money. He's two hundred and one, yeah,

(35:47):
or even what's gonna happen, is right or not a
betting favor. But if they if they keep the line
at two hundred to one, then suddenly and that happens
for whatever crazy ass reason, it's a fix.

Speaker 3 (35:58):
Yeah, so and I stop watching it because I'm done.

Speaker 1 (36:03):
So it's not gonna happen. But they have. But obviously
with this is not like big money is coming down.
People aren't betting tens of thousands of dollars. This is
not a uh, this is not a situation where you
are seeing something that could actually happen. He's not going
number one. In fact, I'll tell you, I'll triple down.
He's gonna go undrafted because you've heard Lebron say, hey,

(36:25):
it's more important where he goes. And if he gets drafted,
we have the money we have. This doesn't matter now
clearly when you're talking about the difference between a late
second round pick and an undrafted free agent, no, not
much difference. Right If if he could have been a
lottery pick, all right, you're gonna get more time. They're
gonna spend more time developing you. But if you're a curiosity,
yeah you might, you aren't gonna get You aren't gonna

(36:45):
get that chance, but he's gonna go undrafted, and he's
gonna wind up with the Lakers, who are gonna do
Lebron a solid I've told you that from the beginning,
and it's it's much easier for them to say, hey,
we'll bring in your son and to keep you here,
because remember, they want to keep Lebron by any means necessary.
We got to keep Lebron no matter what. It's a
lot easier, and it's also something they can sell to

(37:06):
the team, the media, the fans if they bring him
in undrafted versus if they bring him in and use
a draft pick on him, because that that's really is
gonna turn. Oh, we use a draft pick on this guy.
But if he sits out and he doesn't get drafted
and they sign him, okay, he's gonna play in the
G League. He's probably there'll be some funny stuff in
the preseason anyway, right, But there's gonna be some fun

(37:27):
stuff in the preseason where Lebron and he'll be on
the court together, and that'll be a fun little thing.
They'll play a couple of minutes here before the Lakers
move guys around. They'll do that for him. And then
he's gonna be someone who's gonna be a developmental talent
like you see anywhere around. But that for lebron for
Bronnie James. No, it's a nice day today that you
think that, But it's not happening. He'll go undrafted, the
Lakers will get him, and he'll be in the G

(37:49):
League for a while.

Speaker 3 (37:50):
He's a quoting from a senior trainer at bet MGM quote,
We're not concerned with racking up a liability here go on.
We're gonna leave the odds where they are keep coming in.

Speaker 1 (38:00):
Ooh man, can you can you imagine now? Because you're right,
because can you imagine it? Hey, if you want to
get in on this is like one of those quiz
show type things. All right, look, the odds are still
stay in fat. How about if I cut you in
on this and you convince somebody to make him the
first overick of the track. Yeah, Hey, Atlanta, how about
you take Browny number one and say, hey, we're gonna

(38:20):
trade Trey Young and where you're broady, you're our guy. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (38:23):
The amount, the amount of scrutiny the league, you know,
the leagues are under with the betting partners to begin with,
and the regulations that have always been there, and that's
before the warm embrace by the NBA, Major League Baseball,
the NFL, et cetera.

Speaker 1 (38:38):
That you have this.

Speaker 3 (38:40):
I still say, you know, whether you draft him fifty
fifth or you egos undrafted, it's a semantics.

Speaker 1 (38:47):
Thing at that point.

Speaker 3 (38:48):
And for the NBA, they would almost beg the Lakers
to draft him fifty fifth. Come on and keep people
tuned into the draft coverage, because that's all they give
a damn about whether Browny gets drafted.

Speaker 1 (39:01):
Oh that's gonna be. It's gonna be when you get
outside of the top four picks when people have heard,
well that's hey, you never know, but we're in the
early part of the first round.

Speaker 2 (39:09):
Yeah, but you don't know.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
Any of these guys says he's not getting drafted at all,
except for ESPN, who got shamed, sure and putting him
back on the list.

Speaker 1 (39:19):
Look, that's how it's gonna go. If I thought it
could go any differently, I would tell you. But maybe
a team takes a flyer on him late in the
second round. I could see it potentially, But you know,
we've talked about this, is it gonna be worth it?
For a team for a developmental guy, where Lebron's gonna
weigh in on things you don't know, if he's gonna
go full of our ball. Hey, my son's not playing.
Why is my son not doing this? He's not that

(39:41):
good a prospect. He's gonna be somebody that's got to
play developmentally for a couple of years. And I just
don't see another team saying, yeah, we want to invite that.

Speaker 3 (39:49):
Look, if I'm another team, if I'm worried about what
Lebron James is doing, I should tender my resignation immediately.
Right he's two thousand miles away, a thousand miles away,
he not in the bill, And and if Bronni is
to be taken at his word, which right now, I
don't find any reason to not like the guy from
everything I've heard and everybody that's been around him.

Speaker 1 (40:10):
So I outroot for him.

Speaker 3 (40:12):
But if he wants to be his own guy, this
is where, hey, Dad, shut up, X think the balls never.

Speaker 1 (40:17):
