(00:51):
We'll have more on the Mavericks and the Tea Wolves
coming up. But Caitlin Clark Indiana Fever are twenty seven
seconds away from their first win of the season seven
in a row. It was a six point lead for Indiana,
the Sparks whittled it down and in the last minute,

(01:14):
Caitlyn Clark, despite the fact she's been having a horrendous game.
This is why shooters shoot right right here that phrase, well, shooter,
shoot right. Yeah. She was having a horrendous game from
the floor. She'd only made two field goals. She had
five points. Now in the final minute, she has hit
two threes from about ten feet behind the three point line.

(01:37):
Typical Caitlin Clark threes. You gotta guarter everywhere she goes.
Despite that fact, she has hit two threes in the
last minute to give the Fever a five point lead.
With twenty seven seconds left to go, She's two assists
away from a triple double. Eleven points, ten rebounds, eight assists,
four steals. Like I said, Mike, shoot her, shoot right.
No matter what what kind of game you're having, ice water,

(02:00):
you get up, you take that last shot. Anthony Edwards,
you take that last shot when you get a chance.
Caitlin Clark, not afraid of the moment, makes two big shots.
Now it looks like the Fever could be just a
few seconds away from their first win.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Had done a good job of distributing, gotting great support
from Aleah Boston down low the battle watching her and
Brink go after it in the low posts, and been
highly entertaining the physicality going on on both ends of
the court. There but with Clark, you know they at
halftime it was you held her to five points, Like, yeah,
the guards did a great job.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
We did a good job as a team.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
She ain't gonna stop so and while she has not
had a great shooting night two times, basically did I
mean that last shot was essentially the same thing Luca
donc just did to Rudy Goldbert.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
Yeah, yeah, right, dribble in, dribble out, dribble in. All right,
I got you falling all over yourself. Now I'm gonna
step back from thirty and hammer it. Yeah no, I
mean she just did the shrug.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Curse.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Anybody out crowd went nuts, just clearly. Just the energy
is fantastic. I mean, yeah, there's Sparks fans, but you know,
there's just people there to celebrate the game. Even if
they were wearing Sparks gear, that's what they came from.

Speaker 5 (03:15):
What if I were to tell you guys, that's the
largest crowd possibly ever at Staples.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Yeah, I mean, seeing these numbers, it's insane. This gets
into the conversation we're going to have now again. Fourteen
seconds away, I believe Caitlin Clark will be heading to
the free throw line to shoot free throws seventy six,
seventy one. A sellout tonight, a sellout at the Crypt,
nineteen thousand, one hundred and three, the largest crowd in

(03:40):
Sparks history. Ask me what capacity is for the Lakers,
Mike Carmen, what.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Is capacity for the Lakers? As stated in the uh
you know the blueprints or fire only fire code.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Only one guy ever mailed one hundred dollars back to him.
Ask me who it was, I want to play? It
was Brian Drew. No, No, that guy was in hacks.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
He's moved on from the Cleveland Browns. Like whatever he did,
he did quite well for himself.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Jason eighteen nine, eighteen nine nine seven frostbry Well, you're
a Lake you should know that you're a Laker fans.
But at his capacity nineteen thousand, one hundred and three
for Caitlin Clark and the Fever zho to five against
the Sparks tonight again, fourteen seconds left to go. Uh,
the Fever have the basketball, and again it looks like

(04:27):
they are just a few seconds away from their first
win of the season, and Katela Clark's gonna end with
a near triple double right now, Indiana is gonna be
going to the free throw line. And just for a
second before you get before you get really deep into
into this topic.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Oh, I was gonna ask you for this one hundred
and six extra credential media members.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Oh. I thought you're gonna say, hey, what's the over
on this? Can? I what's the can? I get the
over on the well, I can go find what it
was before the game.

Speaker 5 (04:51):
Then you know how guy Sam took one hundred credentials.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
You know how great it was to go right from hey, okay,
oh what an unbelievable and Mavericks and tea walls. Oh
my god, oh my god, boom, what's Caitlin Clark doing?
Like I can't tell you how much fun that was
to go from that to this and see this game
and look, hey, Cameron Brink had a hell of a
last minute of this game trying to get the sparks
back in it. She had two blocks, she drew a charge,

(05:17):
she hit a three. She's coming to just like all
these other players are. I mean really it was, I
mean really, I And this is how fast it's been.
The WNBA has become a huge thing because of Caitlin Clark.
It's like, yeah, oh right, the game's over. Boom, I'm
going going right to this game. I'm going I'm going
right to Caitlin Clark and the fever. What's happening? Maybe
they didn't three, I had the hockey game, the NBA game,

(05:40):
and this one.

Speaker 5 (05:41):
It's like, what's one huge problem though, Jason, what's the problem?

Speaker 1 (05:45):
What do you got?

Speaker 5 (05:46):
We didn't know what channel Ion was on?

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Well, that is true? Or is it io N? Is
it Ion or io N? I forget Ion? It's I
got to think it's Ion either. Well yeah, well, well
it took me a while to figure it out that
it was Channing because it's a part of it different
cable company, right, Like it's like, I forget what it's called,
but it's part of us. No, no, no, but it's
it's part like somebody else owns it, Like somebody else

(06:09):
owns no, dude, I know that CHERK. But somebody owns
Ion and they farm it out to all these different
affiliates across the country, and and so I'm like, okay,
well on now I know it's Channel thirty. So I
know Ion here is Channel thirty. Yeah, I thought it
was part of a larger CBS thing. But I'm not
one hundred percent this.

Speaker 5 (06:28):
Has got to be on This is going to be
on ESPN two or at least New.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
No, I don't know it was on Ion was the
only coverage unless you had the w NBA Plus season package.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
And they and they were and they didn't have it
on Twitter and they know they did not have that,
which was kind of weak. I'm like, don't you want
to put it the only WNBA game tonight that does well?

Speaker 3 (06:47):
And that's why the national side of it, right, I
don't know what the distribution of ION is. I don't
know how many packages you know that that's on. I
have it as part of my YouTube TV. So I
had fever were one and a half point favorites in
this one.

Speaker 5 (07:02):
Life and we're never gonna forget where we were for
her first win.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
That's over under one hundred and sixty five and a
half two thirty footers to win the game.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
And this is where I want to get into this
topic that the last couple of weeks like the WNBA.
You know, I always say my second job moonlighting is
a public relations advisor. Right, I will tell you when, hey,
you know what, I think it's time to change the
message or alter the message here and the WNBA they

(07:31):
need to hear from me, the owners, the commissioner, the
players all need to hear you know what, guys, you
gotta be able to handle success. Okay, this is the
best the league has been in twenty five years. It's
what you have pushed for. This is what you've been
waiting for. And Caitlyn Clark is the reason. I'm sorry.
If there's a lot of jealousy, I'm sorry. If there's

(07:52):
any sort of push oh, well, the players that came
before her, I'm sorry, But Caitlyn Clark is the one.
Lebron James was the one the NBA, right, this is
how it happens. Patrick Mahomes is the one in the NFL.
This is how it goes. Caitlyn Clark by herself because
as great as the other players are, nobody else got
charter flights for the entire league besides Caitlin Clark. Right,

(08:16):
and to see the message and the optics the last
couple of weeks since the season began, this is where
I gotta say, guys, you gotta be able to handle success. Okay,
this is the best the league has been. Can we
lift up the league without trying to tear each other down.
Because the Caitlin Clark backlash is just stupid. I mean,
it's just stupid. Right, we talked about it a couple

(08:37):
of weeks ago. Hey, people seem like they're a little jealous,
little backlift. Caitlin Clark's the one bringing this league up.
I'm sorry, but she is. She's the one. And then
Charles Barkley says it the other night and says, oh,
you know, everybody should be kissing Kaitlyn Clark's but okay,
And then you got some WNBA players responding to Barkley
by saying, we don't see a lot of hate. Everybody
loves what's going on. And then what happens a day

(08:59):
after Barkley said as that, Angel Reese puts out a
tweet saying, oh, look at everybody, look at this win here,
and we didn't need one person who got us charter flights.
Now she did take the tweet down, but this shows
you that there is backlash out there, and it's prevalent.
And whether or not the optic is coming from I'm
jealous of Caitlyn Clark or we needed we should have

(09:19):
done this earlier, whatever reason, this is where the party
is right now in the w n B A and
and and and this is why we're here. Can we
have Can we continue to lift this up? Can we
continue to lift each other up? Because of Caitlin Clark?
Other players are getting noticed, which is great, Right, Angel
Reese is noticed because of this, and she's got a
huge follow She just bought a soccer team. Right, Cameron

(09:40):
Brink is getting noticed. We're talking about Ali Boston. We're
talking about her. I Wilson got got a shoe deal,
which is what she wanted for so long. Right, we're
talking this is the best moment the league has. But
what's the optic the last few weeks. Boy, there's jealousy
and there's a lot of pushback for Caitlin Clark, which is,
what what are you doing?

Speaker 6 (09:58):
Like it?

Speaker 1 (09:58):
And and and when I see it, it's it's it's
kind of an insult to her because all she's doing
is playing. She's not doing anything, she's not underachieving. She's
actually having a pretty good season for a rookie, despite
the fact she's learning, she's not scoring forty a game,
She's still playing pretty well so far. She's what she's
doing is playing and like her name is being used
as political football for whatever agendas people want to talk about.

(10:21):
And when I see players saying stuff, I'm like, this
is why I get it. I understand this is a conversation,
have this privately, talk about other players. But when you
when you come out here, and and and and all
this conversation gets out there about Kaitlyn Clark and and
is she responsible and all these other it just seems
really petty and jealous. Because whether that's the whether that's

(10:42):
the intent or not, that's the optic is that, boy,
look at all the jealous WNBA players are of Caitlin
Clark when it should be you know what, we're all
in this together. If it really is about the whole league,
and it's not just about one person. Let's understand that
the entire league is being lifted up right now. And
yet the message that's out there is there could be
some backlash against Caitlyn and and all these other things

(11:03):
going on and players having all their thoughts. And if
I'm the WNBA, that's the message that I would listen
to me saying is that you have to be able
to handle success, because right now it looks like you can't.
Since the season began, it looks like you can't handle success.
The players can't handle it. There's jealousy when it should
be look at this guy coming into the league. A
look at this girl coming into the league and look
at what she's doing, just like when Michael Jordan. Look

(11:25):
at Michael Jordan's coming into the league. How was a
backlash against Michael Jordan. Was there big backlash against Kobe Bryant. No,
there wasn't. It was this guy's coming in and look
at what he's doing for the league right away. Right
it's the same thing here. She's coming to the league
with unbelievable attention, mainly because she is the best college
basketball player on the women's side we have seen. She

(11:48):
has the most attention. She's the all time leading scorer
as much as some of these other players. You want
to talk about Brianna Stewart, how great she is, right about?
None of them are Caitlyn Clark. None of them have
come in with her cachet. Now, maybe at some point
in the future somebody comes in and it is maybe
it's flow J. Johnson, maybe it's Paige Becker's, But right
now it's Kitlyn Clark, and this is the reason behind

(12:08):
what's going on, and you've got to change that optic
that boy, look at this what's going on with the WNBA.
They're having a moment they've been chasing for twenty five years.
But yet the overall optic is, oh, let's see what
players are saying about her and how they really feel
about Caitlyn Clark and everybody having to kind of move
in the vapors of Caitlyn Clark's success. I mean, this
is the entire league is being raised up. I mean,

(12:30):
I don't understand how we have to make it look
petty and jealous where it can't just be There's lots
of people we want to pay attention to and see
him play, but Caitlyn Clark is the biggest one. That's
gotta be Okay, Yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
Think the biggest thing is we've talked about it. It's
been a lot of the process of people who haven't
paid attention to this. There's some nitpicking, but within the league, yeah,
everybody wants the acknowledgment of the work they've done, right,
and that happens in any business right where you've been
putting in the grind. I mean, look at our business,

(13:02):
right where you can grind for a long time. You
reach a certain level of success and then you see folks,
you know, get the quick rise or what you perceive
as a fast pass. You know, maybe your dad's able
to make you the number one pick in a draft.
I don't know what it is, but you might have
the opportunity to maybe bypass the work that other folks

(13:23):
did and you get the notoriety, you get the jump.
And folks handled that differently, right if it's going to
raise everybody's you know, paycheck, status, visibility and opportunity to
expand you know that's the mature, pause, quiet, contemptative kind

(13:44):
of thing. The initial thing is flashpoint, well what about me?
And I think we've had that from the veterans a
little bit, and certainly from the from the other rookies.
The Angel rees tweet among them, and she's done some
magnificent things talking about camera, I love that. In the
post game on Ion, they brought Caitlin Clark, but they

(14:05):
had a Leah Boston right there with her, and the
first question went to a Leah Boston in the low post,
with Caitlin Clark finishing the interview by essentially saying how
great is it? And how lucky are we that, you know,
people are gravitating to the game and we're able to
play in front of this kind of crowd. Obviously, I'm
going off of what the closed captioning said, but it's

(14:25):
the just the idea that you know, the success is
going to bring with it skepticism, right, I mean there's
a lot of people from day one rooting for it
all to fail, not just Caitlyn Clark, but folks thinking
that suddenly there was going to be growth and expansion.
And we've got two new teams coming, mind you, that

(14:47):
have been put on the board here on the chess
board in the last couple of weeks. Like all of
that to say, like just it's growing has its painful.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Side to it.

Speaker 3 (14:57):
Remember when you grew and you got to be five seven, man,
that was that would your bones hurt?

Speaker 1 (15:04):
Dude? That took me a while to get to five seven.
I didn't get to five seven till I think it
was my senior size. Yeah. No, no, no, seven to three quarters. No,
I got to five. But the boy, you get to
five nine, that was a big thing. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:15):
But just the point being that, you know, growing in
all aspects is hard and you're gonna have some missteps.
Everybody needs to pause and enjoy the ride because they've
got the attention of the world.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with My best Friend,

Speaker 1 (16:49):
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon
live from the tire rack dot Com Studios. Kayler Clark
and the Fever get their first win. She's two thirty
footers in the final minute. Fever win at seventy eight
to seventy three. Not to be outdone, Luka Doncic with
a huge three, said Rudy Gobert, Defensive player of the Year.

(17:11):
Take that and now the Mavericks are two wins away
from the NBA Finals. Will have more basketball coming up
in a few minutes, but joining us now on the
hot line. It's been a big week in the NFL.
Teams have said they either are or not in a
Super Bowl or bus season. He is on Twitter at
Jason Cole sixty two. He's a longtime NFL insider. He

(17:33):
is a Hall of Very Good voter in charge of
putting very good players in the Hall of Fame since
two thousand and five. Jason Call, Welcome to the show.
How are you man?

Speaker 6 (17:43):
Well? Can I just say this right from the start
that there's a restaurant called The Key. It's a small
chain in the San Jose area that does fabulous margaritas
that are sort of like two Margarita's in one, okay,
and I might have had three of those. Let's go, okay,

(18:06):
so we'll see how this goes.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
I think that's probably a good plan. I think that's
probably a good set up. Let me ask you this
now because you know what.

Speaker 6 (18:15):
Now?

Speaker 1 (18:15):
Were they?

Speaker 6 (18:16):
But before we get into that, I just wanted to say,
Jayalen Brunton or Edwin Diaz.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
Oh dude, it's broken. It's not they got hurt. I
am right. No, No, you are? You are? You are? No,
you are. But but I'll prove on on my game too.
So were they Hall of Fame Margarita's or they just
very good Margarita's some show?

Speaker 6 (18:44):
They are called industrial strength, baby, that's what they are.
And you bring it with the industrial strength and three
of those.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
That's right. Did it come in a big cowboy cup?
And that's outlet like that?

Speaker 3 (18:55):
Is that?

Speaker 6 (18:55):
All right? That's it's a big glass, big glass, a big,
big class all right, there you go, Yeah, simple, simple
but direct. Okay, no no salt, right to it.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
No salt, and I know I can. I could sit
the building on fire. All right. Now, let me start
off here with this with you, because I've been waiting
to talk to you, to throw this by you as
an idea for the greatest television show we could possibly
have this year. You ready, okay, okay. Cameras we already

(19:28):
have cameras following around because they're doing that big you know,
Jerry Jones, My life in the NFL. Cameras followed Jerry Jones.

Speaker 6 (19:34):
Do you think that guy edited at all? Just wanted
it out? You think maybe they edited that down a
little bit.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
We're gonna go right from us winning the Super Bowl
in ninety five to this season. Okay, we're gonna fast
forward through all that stuff, go right for the super Bowl.

Speaker 6 (19:51):
All right, We're gonna go red past all that room stuff,
get that.

Speaker 9 (19:58):
Thing.

Speaker 6 (19:58):
We're gonna go rep past. Well, we're gonna talk about
Cowboy Bees a lot because that cold guy. He came
up with a great idea and it just gets me
off talking about like serious issues like we haven't won
in thirty years and stuff like that. But I don't
have to talk about that because there's Cowboy Bees. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
I don't know how we got on it, but last
night we got on the topic of Jerry Jones teaching
Shakespeare to high school. It was it was brilliant, man,
it was just brilliant. But let me here's how we
got there.

Speaker 6 (20:35):
But a poor player is our up on the stage
and the desert no more.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
Yeah, full of sound, full.

Speaker 6 (20:41):
Of Jerry Jones, full.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
Of sound and fury. And then Dak threw a pick.
Uh so that signifies nothing.

Speaker 6 (20:48):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
Cameras following Jerry Jones around the office style as he
as he comes to grips, as he comes to grips
with the fact that the Rangers win the World Series,
the Mavericks are going to the finals, maybe the Stars
are going to the finals, that every other pro team
in Dallas is either winning a championship or in the

(21:09):
finals except for the Cowboys, and we watch him lose
his mind.

Speaker 6 (21:13):
We're all in, baby, all in, all in. We are
all in the championship.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
I said it.

Speaker 6 (21:21):
I said it right there. We're all in, are we?
I told you we were all in. We signed the snapper, right,
the long snapper. We signed that guy. We're all in.
A DA didn't have anything to worry about. We're all in.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
Come on, baby, I screamed at Chris Finch, Hey you
got a double Luca out on the perimeter. Nope, just
sends go bear out. Luca makes a shot. Now I
got to watch another team go to the finals.

Speaker 6 (21:48):
It's not us, boy, Hey, hey, blame it on Jerry Jr. Charlotte, Charlotte,
you're the best.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
Who said these cameras your foul.

Speaker 6 (22:03):
It's all your fault. So you like that idea, Jerry
Eric Trump, That's.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
What it is. Jason Cole with US zero on Fox
Sports Radio. All right, so look, we saw this week
a lot of teams embrace or deny the fact that
the Super Bowl or bus season. Right. We had the
the Lions say, I don't know what that means. We're
thinking about the super Bowl. Aaron Rodgers like, yes, we're
all in. If if anything happens, we're all gonna get fired.

(22:33):
What do you think of team what do you think
of those teams saying they're all in or all not?
Super Bowl to the bust all year? I think we
lost the cole fellon. Oh that's good. Don't tell the
Mavericks are up to zick. Just don't tell them. Don't
maybe won't.

Speaker 6 (22:53):
Come on, man, Like, why do you tell that? Like,
I mean, I look, I get it. We're trying to
win games and we're trying to put the best broct
on the field. And that's fine, but there are there
are obviously teams that are trying to rebuild and this
is its outworks and the fans know it. The fans

(23:15):
are smart, but they're they're afraid of the fans who
are not smart. They're afraid of them who are who
are because they have to sell tickets to the ones
who aren't smart, right, because those are the guys that
they need to get to reap and say how we're
gonna have a fabulous product, you know, just don't worry

(23:38):
until we're week eight, like until we get eliminated. Which
for the judgment, but you know it's I just like,
I don't get it when people are not honest with
their fans and say this is what we're trying to
win games, no question about it, and we can put

(23:59):
this together. It's great, but we're in transition and this
is where we're at. But they're so afraid that people
will not re up on their season tickets. If you
say stuff like that and you're honest with them that
then it creates false rope and it creates the silliness
of we're all in. It's like Woody Johnson, we're all in. Yeah,

(24:21):
you said that for thirty years. You just have no
clue because you're Woody Johnson. Like, go back and watch
the Beanie wear the Beanie cap to the owner eating.
That's who you are, right, the Propellers moving, but nobody
knows if you're home. Okay, Like that's what it is, right,

(24:41):
and so I just yeah, I'm tired of that. Move
on right.

Speaker 3 (24:46):
Another thing we added and had fun with, where the
reports out of Philadelphia about the rise of Kenny Pickett
as a potential challenger to the throne of Jalen Hurts. Sirianni,
He's got himself a fun off season ahead. If that's
a headline here in mid May.

Speaker 6 (25:04):
Let's just say this, if Kenny Pickett beats out Jalen
Hurts with that job. That's all you need to know
about how the Eagle season went. It just tells you
what pick do we have in the top five? Like
that's how that works. Like if Kenny Thickett is your starter,

(25:26):
you're going, Okay, which one of the top five guys
do we really want? Are we in position to take
one of the top quarterbacks or not? Like that's that's
how that's going to go, especially if it's where Kenny
Thicket actually wins the job against Jalen Hurts rather than
Jalen Hurts got injured. Like this is silliness. I mean,

(25:47):
Kenny Pickett has so much to work on started with.
How about not throw your teammates under the bus all
the time? Like, look, I know, George Pickens is a
jack in jackass, Okay, he really is. Like the coaches
at Georgia hated that guy. They couldn't stand coaching him.

(26:09):
They were happy when he actually got hurt and it
sent him on a way to winning a national championship
that one year. That's how bad they hate George Pickens
at Georgia. But he's talented and you have to figure
out how a way to work with him rather than saying, oh,
I'm just going to freeze him out every week, because

(26:31):
guess what if you freeze him out every week, everybody
knows he's talented. He wins the argument because you're a
jerk ball. And so Kenny Pickett like just doesn't get it.
He does not understand how this game works in any way,
shape or form. So if he wins that job, that's
a problem.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
He's on Twitter at Jason Cole sixty two, that is
at Jason Cole sixty two, Hall of same voter and all.

Speaker 6 (27:00):
Let me just say this. The fact that I got
through this after three margaritas that are double size. Okay, there,
clearly I've had six margaritas. Okay, I know that.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
And then you do math pretty well, yeah, it's not
I'm not math very.

Speaker 6 (27:14):
Good three times two and six. Baby, there you go. Anyways,
the fact that I got through this minor miracle, baby,
that's Hall of Fame stuff, Hall.

Speaker 4 (27:24):
Of fame legendary stuff, right there, boy, interview, right baby.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
Take it easy, buddy, we'll talk to Jacob. There goes
Jason call. Oh, I had two or three more questions
for Nah, we were good, No, we were good. Do
you think he remembers the interview tomorrow. Do you think
your remembers.

Speaker 5 (27:47):
That Mike don't want to show to continue?

Speaker 1 (27:53):
Yes, okay, yes, I died very good, very good. I
just thought it was gonna get spicy. I mean, no, look,
we can he could look if you want to play
a prank on him tomorrow and say, dude, you don't
know the trouble that you just got the stuff you
said last night, and we'll just make somebody what you
said about Woody Johnson, what you said about Mike Tomlin. Dude,
what did I say? Oh my god, you don't remember, dude.

(28:14):
This is what I mean. This is there's going to
be a meeting or something like. I wonder if we
could pull that off.

Speaker 3 (28:21):
Probably you know what you said about Kirk Cousins and
his and his and his.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
Uh the the room under the stairs and he's got
all this stuff. We hadn't made that happen. That would
be something The Jason Smith Show and Mike Harvin Live

every single night. And now a guy who also loves
putting out the content he does every single night, especially
when he could talk about the Mets blowing a lead
like they did again tonight, It's Steve de Seger with
what's trending in the wide world of sports.

Speaker 9 (29:18):
And what Jason said about Drew Pearson. My goodness, oh boy,
good he you're showing a hole. Well, we've got a
couple of reminders. First off, NASCAR's Coca Cola six hundred
is this Sunday night on Fox TV from Charlotte with
temperatures near ninety there By the way, the Indy five
hundred is scheduled for Sunday, but thunderstorms are expected. Then

(29:39):
UFL football season continues Sunday on Fox TV before the
big NASCAR race. It's the next to last weekend of
that league's regular season. It has long ago started Conference
finals are June eighth. NFL champion Kansas City Chiefs will
visit the White House next Friday. The Dallas Mavericks might
be headed to the NBA Finals. They're up two games
tonight in the Western Conference Finals. Right now after taking

(30:02):
one at Minnesota one oh nine one oh eight, Luka
Donsich with a three pointer with three seconds left, thirty
two points, ten rebounds, thirteen assists for him. Game three
at Dallas on Sunday night. Game four will be hosted
by the Mavericks on Tuesday evening. Minnesota did win on
the road three times at Denver last round, including a

(30:23):
twenty point comeback win Sunday night. In their Game seven
in the East Final, Celtics are up two games to none.
They'll be at the Pacers on Saturday evening. They'll be
at Indy on the Monday night holiday. Indiana's Tyres Halliburton
is questionable for tomorrow with a sore hamstring he left
in the third quarter last night. In the w NBA
Indiana was o and five until a comeback win at

(30:44):
La tonight. The La Sparks were up by eleven at
the half. Caitlin Clark had not made a three pointer
all night until the last two and a half minutes.

Speaker 8 (30:53):
Four s space is gonna let it fly, unt.

Speaker 9 (31:00):
I on TV time to connect from deep. In fact,
she finished two of nine on three pointers, but that
includes a couple of late threes seventy eight seventy three
the final. In the WNBA, Clark had eleven points, ten rebounds,
eight assists, just two turnovers and four steals as well.
In the NHL, the Rangers have tied up the East

(31:22):
Final at a game apiece after an overtime win at
home against Florida two to one. Game two of the
West Final will be tomorrow night, Edmonton at Dallas Oilers
won in two overtimes. Last night, the Winnipeg Jets promoted
Scott Arneial to head coach. He's a former Rangers assistant.
Still without a head coach in the NHL, San Jose
and Seattle Well Ladies and Gentlemen. When the Yankees get

(31:44):
Stanton and judged a homer in the same game, they
usually win. The record is now thirty seven and four
in those instances. Yankees, in fact hit three homers in
the third off losing pitcher You Darvish and one at
San Diego eight nothing. The Yankees have won ten of
their last twelve, and Yankee starting pitchers who've gone at
least four innings in every game this year six innings

(32:05):
of work tonight for the winning pitcher, Carlos Rodan, who's
six and two. Cleveland won at seventh straight game, ten
to four at the Angels. Kansas City won at seventh
in a row, eight to one at Tampa Bay, Colorado
in eleven innings, beat Philadelphia three to two, inning the
phil six game winning streak. Miami a three to nothing
winner at Arizona, a complete game shutout from Braxton Garrett

(32:27):
of the Marlins on ninety five pitches. Houston won at
Oakland six to three. A robust near ten thousand in
attendance for the A's game tonight. Baltimore beat the White
Sox in Chicago six to four. Baltimore and Cincinnati with wins,
and San Francisco with five runs top of the eighth
beat the Mets in New York eight seven, including a

(32:47):
grand slam there. Late Mets have lost four in a row.
Mets did hit three solo homers. Pete Alonzo with his
twelve Mets record now twenty one and twenty nine.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
Back to third game in a row the Mets hit
three home runs in a game. Ask me how many
they've won zero.

Speaker 9 (33:02):
And third game in a row for the Giants offense
to be down for late innings and still come back
and win.

Speaker 6 (33:08):
Ye.

Speaker 1 (33:08):
Hey, hooray, Hey everybody wins. Uh. Thank you, Steve, I
appreciate it, my friend. The Jason Smith Show of the
Mike Rman Live from the Tirack dot Com Studios. Coming
up next, we get back into the biggest story of
the night and the biggest play of the biggest story
of the night. It still baffles me that it was
able to go and unfold the way it did. That's

(33:29):
next right here, Jason and Mike Fox.

Speaker 5 (33:32):
You sure the biggest play wasn't this Stop Bailey right field?

Speaker 1 (33:39):
God, great swam.

Speaker 2 (33:45):
Hey the Giants are doing it again tonight.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
Thanks Frostburg. They're doing it again too, Thanks Jock. Thanks.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 5 (34:02):
The song goes out.

Speaker 1 (34:03):
To the Mets and the Knicks and the Jets stop
in the Sports Radio Jason Switch Show with My best
Friend Mike Harmon, We're live from the Tirak dot com studios.
The Mavericks come from behind and beat the Timberwolves tonight,

(34:26):
one O nine, one eight. The t Wolves blow a
five point lead with a minute and a half left
to go, and it baffles you. They were clearly not
ready for the moment the Mavericks were. Kyrie's been in
that position before he hits a big three. Luca's been
in that position before he hits the game winning shot.
There's a lot to get to, but for the next

(34:47):
few minutes, let's focus on the game winner. Luca making
the three that gives him the one O nine, one
eight lead, and that is your final Here's how it sounded,
and it sounds just as baffling as it did when
he hit it.

Speaker 10 (35:00):
The unbound will come from Washington, breed and humping up
in front.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
Donc hands the ball down by two.

Speaker 10 (35:08):
Where's the switch? Doe Barrow hump to Doncic Good overruns.

Speaker 1 (35:16):
Who sat? Kevin Harlan on TNT with the call. Luka
Dantic with the three, and that is your dagger, He
screams at the back of Rudy Gobert's head. You can't
blank and guard me fourth time defensive Player of the Year,
And look, you know we said it right when it happened,
and it's still true an hour and twenty minutes later.

(35:39):
You know, when you are facing this situation right and
I look, I don't know what Chris Finch said in
the huddler, what he talked about after the bad turnover
when Anthony Edward just threw the ball out of bounds,
But at some point you have to get that ball
out of Luka Doncic's hands and get it to somebody else,
even if it's Kyrie making the last second shot. But

(36:02):
you you decided we're okay guarding Luca one on one
and I get Look, I get the talent that Go
Bear has, but Go Bear's out on the edge. He's
out on the He's out at the edge of the arc.
That's not where you want that. That's not a strength
for him. Luca can go around him, he can stop
and you know you've seen it a thousand times, the
drop back three, step back three, which is what he hit,

(36:24):
getting Rudy Gobert to go side to side. I can't
believe they didn't try to. For a team that's great defensively,
they just sat back and said, okay, we're okay with
Rudy single guarding Luca. Because you saw the play, everybody
just backed off. It was like on the on the
it's like on the you know, hey, last seconds of
the game, everybody's backing off. We're all gonna give everybody
room so we can so we can see how this

(36:46):
play unfolds. And it was looking saying I got it,
I got it. I'm gonna get him going one way
to the other. And then when I get him to
a point, I'm gonna step back and take a three
and I'm gonna hit it. And that's exactly what happened.
And and you're Minnesota, and and and you have to
walk back and go, what do we really just do there?
Like you, you have made your bones being the best
defensive team in the NBA. How do you not make

(37:06):
him give up the ball?

Speaker 6 (37:08):
Right?

Speaker 1 (37:08):
Like I said, even if it's but if it's somebody else,
Kyrie and Luca are the guys you really don't want
to take those shots. Try to make somebody else take
that shot. And if somebody else beat you, hey, somebody
else beat you, it happens. But to go out that
way in game two and basically potentially end the series
where you're okay with a bad matchup on the perimeter

(37:31):
and you allowed Luca to And it's not like even
had a bad look or he was even rushed, Gobart
was even close to him. This is this is why
he broke his ankles twice. Yeah, they backed him down,
back him back up. This is a yeah, this is
a Caitlin Clark. Hey, step back to the side. I'm
gonna hit it from thirty five feet away. I mean,
that's exactly what happened. And then watching this unfold and

(37:53):
I go, they're gonna make him give up the ball, right,
And I see what an epic fit in in a
minute of epic fails, that's the biggest epic failed because
that's something that hey, you had time to plan and say, Hey,
Luca's gonna take the shot, so let's do this. And
when they double we're gonna do this. We're gonna roll
the coverage then towards Kyrie. If somebody else got okay,
somebody else can hit that shot. But wow, man, to

(38:14):
allow Luca to just hold onto the ball and basically unblemished,
you know, not even with a hand in his face
I'm gonna hit it was still with three seconds left
on the chakla. He bet there was a poemhre you go. Boy,
he took that shot too early. They still left the
te Wolves three seconds. I mean, he hits that pretty
calmly to go up. But I mean, what a fail

(38:34):
by the by the Minnesota timberlves I can't get over that.

Speaker 3 (38:37):
Yeah, I mean watching it and I think I agree,
you know, Frostburg, you know, as we have our conversations
over the course of that, I don't think he's giving
that ball up unless you run three guys out, like,
I don't know what what else. You know, You've you've
got the guy that's your defensive player of the year.
I half expected, you know, that they were gonna need

(38:59):
the help defense because Luca was gonna take the ball
into the rack. Instead, he just toyed with him up
top and broke his ankles. A couple of times, I saw,
you know, people going and pulling out some of the
classic seventies cartoons where you'd get those great sound effects
of the feet moving right where he'd be on a
slippery floor or something, and that's kind of what Rudy

(39:20):
Grobert looked like. Here, But Luca, I think it would
have taken something really extraordinary for him to actually give
that ball up, especially after Gobert took that closeline move.
I maybe overstating it, but that seemed to piss him
off and get him working in the second half. Right,
he was okay, He had his moments early but shut

(39:43):
down late. Yeah, he wanted to humiliate him, as evidenced
by the I don't know he claimed he was speaking Slovenian.
I would think there were at least seven f bombs
tossed in his general direction before he turned his attention
to the crowd.

Speaker 1 (39:59):
Well, it's funny you say that because we have Luka
Dantic right now talking about what was said between him
and Gobert after he hit that shot. So let's hear
from Luca. So he can't eff and guard you. Ah, sorry,
he can't eff and guard you. Who said that? You
said that? I ain't say that. There you go, I

(40:25):
was speaking Slovenian. Okay, what does can can't effan guard me?
Meaning Slovenian? Then what does that mean? What does that mean? So? Good?
Oh man, what a great answer. That's your interpretation. I
didn't say that. Now he's talking Slovenian. Yeah. Next question
is could someone be moaning in the background. I want
to get away from this question. Where's that moaning? Where's

(40:47):
the moaning woman? Uh, we have coming up next because
when you talk about the hero, you got to talk
about the guy whose fault it was in the final minute.
We'll get to that next
