well just go home.
Speaker 4 (01:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Well, look, look this is this is how bad it was.
This is the third game in a row the Mets
hit three home runs and they've lost all three of them.
According to some of the tank stats take people on,
this is only the fifth time in baseball history that's
happened where a team is at three home runs three
games and lost all three of them. The Mets proving
(01:28):
there's no such thing as rock bottom. No, no, no,
We're gonna get there and keep digging in. We want
to get to the core of the Earth. We want
to split the Earth in half. And I have a
just fly out in the Andromeda Galaxy.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
It's what we're gonna do.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Nicely done, and there's something to be said for, you know,
getting into that rarefied air and doing something historic, not
just another loss.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
We're up six ' two in the eighth inning, Nope,
Grand Slam. We're losing seven to six. Oh bases loaded,
one out in the ninth inning, Nope, nope, can't get
another run across.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
We lose eight.
Speaker 5 (01:55):
Jason, the real question is at what point they're so
bad right now and MLB doesn't let you play it
in game highlights out? The point are we allowed to
play their in game highlights. They're so bad.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
Oh, they will give they will give you any we'll
get any rights. No, you know you want to you
want to hear something really funny. Here's how everybody knows,
is that? Like when I go to eBay, you know,
I'm on eBay, like you know every day look for
different stuff, like wearing my clothes and everything.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
Sure, exactly, And I.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Always put stuff in my cart because I always you know,
once in a while, someone will see something in your
cart on eBay and then they will make you an offer,
like say, here's a here's a Mets t shirt for
seventeen dollars.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
You put it in your cart, leave it there for
a day.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Someone knows it to the person selling and he goes, hey,
how would you like this shirt for twelve dollars?
Speaker 4 (02:37):
And you save money on it? Right, That's just how
it goes for eBay. Right, in the.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Last twenty four hours, the Mets stuff I've had in
my cart, everybody has made me offer.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
It's here, baby, how would you like this? What is this?
Speaker 1 (02:49):
It's David Right coming to live in your house. Oh
how much is that four dollars?
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Just send it to me. I'll put them on a plane.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
Like every all of a sudden, it's like, hey, you
gotta get rid of this met stuff. Man, no one's
gonna buy it this summer. This season's done.
Speaker 4 (02:59):
I got to get rid of it.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Go that guy, the guy's got in his cart, Give
it to whatever he wants, whatever he wants, give it
to him.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
You know what's great is that. I mean, as long
as it's not dated stuff. I mean, you can play
with that all day.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
Just outstanding. Like, come on this grey.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
He's only hitting two hundred in his last two weeks.
Now it's one of the young and up and coming
stars of the game. But right now I'm selling you
it's kind of like doing fantasy trades, only with some
other dollars involved.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
Everybody knows it's over.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Let's get, let's get. We'll move on for next year.
We'll get some new stuff coming in. Let's just make
sure we do that. Get rid of this stuff now,
and then we'll move on again. Welcome inside the Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmen lifrom the
Tireck dot Com studios, tyrec dot Com help you get there.
An unmatched selection, fast free shipping. Free Road has a
protection over ten thousand recommended installers tirec dot com the
(03:54):
way tire buying should be. So hopefully that's the last
mention of the Mets tonight. We we really don't need
to talk about it. We're done. We're kind of fin.
I think we can be done. It's okay, but that
at least I need you want me to.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
Get the Syracuse loss in while you're.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
At Oh come dude, come on, man, Boston College is
in the They're in the championship every bleeping year.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
Man, I mean, come on. Did you guys win? Did
you guys win to oh Night? Well, that's what.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Should I think that's the year. Yeah, I think that's
the last three national championships. And women's lacrosse has been
BC in Northwestern I think that's it's every year.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
Dial it up, yeah, b C.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
I think BC has been in the national title game
now seven years in a row. I want to say
something insane like that.
Speaker 5 (04:33):
Find you your teams are so bad? We're talking lacrosse.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
No, dude, we're in the final four. We were in
the final four.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Women's were in the final four and they lost. Men's
fell a step short of the final four. But speaking
of a step short, and a step slow. That is
the Dallas Maverick so far tonight against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
Six and a half to go in the third quarter.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Timberwl's looking to even this series up, but one game
at piece of have an eleven point lead over Dallas
seventy one six. See, this game looked like it was
going to get out of control in a big way.
But Luka Donsich has come back, hit a bunch of shots.
He's at twenty two points now, So now it's an
eleven point game, which is still manageable for Dallas.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
Midway through the third quarter.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
But I want to tell you, Mike, when we talked
about this game last night and we previewed, I said,
this is the Timberwolves team I expect to show up
for Game two. It baffles me that a team that
is built on defense and effort can show up flat.
The number of times Minnesota has this playoff and we
get great stuff, like the post game from Minnesota is
great because they tell us everything, like Anthony Edwards will
(05:35):
tell you whatever is going on.
Speaker 4 (05:36):
Yeah, we were flat. I don't know what happened. Didn't
have the energy, didn't have it. I was tired. Wait WHOA,
what are you talking about?
Speaker 1 (05:42):
So we know that it's a problem of effort and
energy and focus and being consistent. Because if you watch
the way the Timberwolves play defense first two games against
the Nuggets, it should have been over. It should have
been a sweep. You're looking at a defensive effort like
the Pistons of the early aughts when they won the
championship over the Lakers, almost beat the Spurs the next year.
(06:04):
That's what we've seen. And it was so not there
in Game one, and you saw Luca and Kyrie were
able to do whatever they want to on the floor,
and Luca is able to hit that fifteen foot step
back like he has, And I'm saying to myself, where
is this Minnesota team? Where's that should be running rough
shot over everybody into the finals against the Celtics. They
show up tonight in a big way. This is who
(06:26):
I expected, seventy one to sixty. And I'm not saying, obviously,
if a team plays at their highest level, they're gonna win,
but like, if this is the Minnesota team that shows
if they show up focused, it's almost like the same
thing with the Celtics. If they show up focused and
on game and on point. And I don't mean like
they gotta be going crazy. It's just, hey, show up,
focused and on point. You'll be in the NBA Finals.
(06:48):
And if this Timberwolves team shows up, this is what's
going to happen. But the problem is getting them to
show up every single game, which is baffling because it's
not missing shots. It's not hey, we had a bad
night shooting, and hey, Anthony Edwards is awful shooting, which
he has been now for a while. It's not all
Karl Anthony Towns'll prackt everything else. But this is where
you're talking about effort and intensity. Defensively, it's just not there.
(07:11):
But it's here tonight. And if this is a team
we get, they're gonna I mean, Dallas has won their
last game of the Western Conference Finals.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
But that's the thing, getting them to show up every night.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
Well, he's still getting some poor shooting right now across
the board for the Wolves. Right they're shooting thirty seven
percent and still hav an eight point lead, twelve offensive rebounds,
and they've been efficient in terms of moving the basketball
sixteen assists on their twenty three makes, but they've doubled
(07:42):
up the three point makes on the Mavericks to this point,
which is really your difference here rebounding edges and it
is marginal at best, but when you're looking at the
three point makes, has really been a big deal. Although
Lucas starting to heat it up to make this interesting
because he struggled in the first half. He had a
(08:02):
few of those moments that you've chronicled of. All Right,
is he hurt? Is he just complaining because he got hit?
What's going on now? He's standing under the basket, refusing
to move towards the basketball, was watching? Stop being an observer?
And then Kyrie Irving's just two of nine. It's like
all the residual hate he had on you for Game one.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
It's torn off man torn off.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Right now he's got five points and two assists, not
giving you much of an effort at all.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
No, it's look, it's a weird series to handicap, right,
It's that the two Maverick stars against the Timberwolves defense.
And look, I don't know, maybe Kyrie nu for Kyrie.
Maybe Kyrie used up all his energy in Game one,
because look, what did I say going into it? He's
probably hit the wall. He didn't he didn't have a
great series of last series. He's probably hit the wall
(08:52):
because he's playing a lot of basketball, more basketball than
he's played on in a bunch of years, and that
could be the case. Made me look silly in Game one,
but now's making me look pretty accurate here in game two.
That Hey, with some days off, he goes for Game one,
he has a big game. Now one day, lady, you
got to come back for game two, and he struggles,
almost kind of like what we saw happened to Chris
(09:12):
Paul in the playoffs a few years ago, when boy,
he was phenomenal and he found the fountain of youth,
and because they were playing every eight days, the Suns
were able to win. But you get to the NBA
Finals where suddenly it's a game every other night, and
that's where Chris Paul ran up on empty and you
saw the Bucks go on and win the NBA title.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
I wonder if that's the case with Kyrie.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
Irving's still a long way to go here, but it
makes sense to see, Hey, game one, he was great
because he had time rest all that great. But now
here we are one game away game two, and it's
a much different story for him so far.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
Now, let's be honest, at least with Kyrie, we've had
a number of moments where we've praised his defensive effort
and team defense and leadership.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
We've never done that with Chris Paul. Oh no no, no, no, no, no,
no no no.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
So you know, you know the kind of comparison, I
get it, But one big varia, But just.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
About you're talking about a point guard, a guy who's
been to the ball a lot, who is coming up
with a huge effort, which is what you need me.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
No, no, we're not. We've never heard were just bringing
up defensive effort for Chris.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
Come on, man, I'm just saying because Kyrie Irving's expending
energy on that side too, not not just you know,
being ball dominant.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
And getting it done.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
But you know, the key thus far has been the
shooting for the Tea Wolves of nas reed your six
man of the year sixteen minutes four or four from
three point range for twelve points.
Speaker 4 (10:31):
So yeah, it's.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
Gonna be interesting because it looks like Luca's doing everything
he can to now take over and going in amongst
the trees.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
Well about, I'll tell you, I mean, it's gonna be
really tough for Luca to do it by himself, but clearly,
hey man, you know we gave you the blueprint for
this series.
Speaker 4 (10:47):
Right.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
Minnesota's defense is this, They're gonna win. If they get inconsistent,
can't play a full forty eight, that opens the door
for the Mavericks. Right, it's it's it's pretty simple. And again,
even though it's an eight point lead right now for Minnesota,
they're still a long time left to go. Now, the
other point of this game, right, three big points we
had coming out of this game when it was defensively
here what we saw from Kyrie. Minnesota leads this game
(11:12):
despite the fact Anthony Edwards, who is Michael Jordan apparently right,
Michael Jordan's there is four out of fifteen from the
floor tonight, four fifteen points. This is yet another game
after he was anointed as the next Michael Jordan, where
he has really struggled to shoot the basketball.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
Right, you want to go.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
Back his last five games, five for fifteen, eight for seventeen,
six for twenty four, six for sixteen, and now four
for fifteen, Right, this is what he's been Now, maybe
he's hit the wall. Maybe teams have realized, Okay, this
is the guy we got to stop if we're gonna
flow down the Timberwolves. Now, so far it hasn't worked
as well because the other guys are picking up the slack.
Speaker 6 (11:52):
Right.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
We're getting great stuff from Rudy Gobert and't think we
get enough get that from him offensively, getting a little
bit more from him, Karl Anthony Towns has been fantastic.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
Right.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
You're looking at other players who are stepping up and
you're going, wow, man, I can't believe we're seeing their
supporting cast do more than just play defense.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
Right.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Jade McDaniels up until tonight has been fantastic.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
Right.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
But this is what we said when I said you
have to stop Mac jones ing Anthony Edwards right because
he's not ready. He's a great player, he's a great
young player, and if he's gonna be a superstar, he
will show you. He will show you in the playoffs
and it will be looking at Anthony Edwards another thirty
five point game, another forty point game, and instead you
(12:32):
see what he's shot. Now over the last five games,
he has not been good. There are times he's been invisible.
Just call like I said, I want that, I want
the kid to be a big time superstar. But it's
all of a sudden, it's hey, he had some big games,
some big highlights, and now he's Jordan. But wait a minute,
Wait a minute, wait a minute again, this is the
dangers when you Mac Jones, somebody, you Mac Jones, somebody,
you go over the top and people try to figure
(12:53):
out ways to top their takes. So much, he's doing
things Michael Jordan hasn't even done in his fourth year
in the league. He's doing things that Tom Brady or
Michael Jordan or Lebron James or Gordy how Is done
in their first four years ago. And it just gets
more and more and more until it's just stupid. And
that's why we talked about it a couple of days ago.
You have to stop mac Jones again, you Mac Jones,
(13:14):
and look what happens right now. Obviously he's more talented
than mac Jones. But you're seeing now that, Okay, maybe
everybody was a little early with anointing him as next
because what did we say going into this game from
game one? The other thing is Anthony Edwards. I expect
him to come out and have a huge game. He's
gonna go for forty.
Speaker 4 (13:32):
He's pissed.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
He knows that he needs more. He says, we didn't
have the effort. He was tired for some reason in
Game one. He's gonna come out and have a big effort.
But the Tea Wolves have the lead and he has
been again largely invisible. He can't hit anything, and he's
kind of like a big decoy and a playmaker at
this point. And that's not what the timber Wolves are
gonna need if they're gonna win this game. They can't
go down the stretch and rely that. Okay, let's get
(13:54):
the ball of Karl Anthony Towns down low, or maybe
he'll lot a couple of threes, Like you're gonna win
or lose if this I steps up and proves that
he is a big superstar, and so far he's not.
At that point, he's more Devin Booker than he has
anything else.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
At this point. He Hey, Booker had some big games.
Always next is that?
Speaker 1 (14:09):
And then oh wow, Devin Booker kind of showed up
lame of the playoffs little bit here.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
I don't know about that.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
That's really the more accurate description right now for Anthony Edwards.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
Now on the plus.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
Side, at least a lot of his shots are in
and around the rim. Problem is he's missed every one
of those. There's only shots that he's made are are
from distance. So yeah, just a curiosity. I like the
aggressiveness that's gotten under the free throw line a couple
of times. But yeah, you wanted him to have forty
Nah too much defense from Kyrie Irving and company. Man,
(14:40):
you ain't getting there. You ain't Jordan.
Speaker 4 (14:43):
Exit, how about the Fresco exit? Swollen dumb? The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carbett.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
I thought you jumping on the Jordan thing a little
bit more because that's your guy, man, like your whole
sports existence.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
Is on Michael Jordan. Well, I didn't want to talk
over you as you Oh okay, I didn't really know.
Speaker 3 (14:59):
And the other the other thing is do I really
respond to all of the asinine things are brethren in
the media?
Speaker 7 (15:05):
Do?
Speaker 3 (15:05):
I would never sleep, I'd never be able to do
anything else if I just jumped on all of the
asinine and positively insane things that get said.
Speaker 5 (15:15):
Jason, Stop trying to make ant Man happen.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
Hey, ant Man was good until the first.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Stop just trying to keep everybody's minds on Mac Jones
who they forgot about.
Speaker 4 (15:25):
You got to get a guy that's still playing.
Speaker 1 (15:27):

Speaker 1 (16:46):
Yeah, Fox Sports Radio, the Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Harmon. Now I got a hot take
for you, Mike, and I think you're gonna come around
me on this. I mean, maybe maybe it's not Anthony Edwards.
Maybe nas Reid is the Timberwolves player who was the
next Michael Jordan.
Speaker 4 (17:03):
It might be, like I mean, it might be NOAs Reed.
I may not be Anthony. Anthony Edwards is so ten
days ago. Now it's nos Reid.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
Yeah, five out that five out of five. The center
is five for five from three point range tonight. He's
got fifteen off the bench. He's a game high plus
eight for the Timberwolves as they lead the Mavericks going
to the fourth quarter right now, eighty six to seventy nine,
just like anytime they needed three, it's like, this is
you know, it ruins me. It reminds me when the
(17:33):
and I'm going back now, you know to the very
famous two thousand and eight Celtics team that they can
never stop talking about it. Celtics, Hey docs that forever. Yeah,
I remember I coached it. Talk that was sixteen years ago. No,
it was just a couple of years ago. No, no, no,
no it's not.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
It's not right. It's not two thousand and eight. No,
it's not. It's in that finals.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
The big memory I have that that that first Laker
Celtics Finals was not you obviously, as you have Paul
Pierce in the wheelchair, but it was every time the
Celtics needed a basket, I felt like James Posey was
hitting threes, and it was really James Posey seriously hitting
it three.
Speaker 4 (18:07):
It's crazy, but that was everyone.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
I feel like that's anytime the Timberwolves need a big
shot of big three, it's nas Reed hitting it. I'm
going this isn't this is crazy. But hey, six men
in the NBA for reasons proving it so.
Speaker 5 (18:18):
Far, stop trying to make nas Read happen.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Go Bear now with four falls. That's just why you're
seeing more of Reed. He had a couple early on
Towns as well. He's only got two for the game
now though. Reed, as you said, though plus eight fifteen points.
Their game high though still is Kyle Anderson. He's at
plus seventeen in his twelve minutes, but not quite the
(18:42):
impact of nas Reed and the spectacular display he's giving
us from three point range.
Speaker 4 (18:48):
But I will say this.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
You know, the the Jordan thing? I mean, what do
we do every year? All right, Who's going to be
the Jordan guy? It's like everybody has a meeting and
there's a whiteboard or there's a bunch of player profile
head shots up there, like I don't know. We kind
of talked about him as a Jordan, right, because if
John Morant were playing in Memphis, was active at all
in the playoffs, wouldn't it be him? I mean, or
(19:11):
pick somebody else? Like did we do this every year?
Like spin the wheel? Like all right, it's your turn.
And then with Edwards, everybody does the photo thing and says,
well he kind of looks like Michael Well, that takes
it down a whole other kind of creepy and on
toward kind of path. But you know it's good for
the fodder. But yeah, a lot of yelling for no reason.
(19:31):
Let the guy play basketball, just because you hadn't watched
him for his first three years in the league and
you're finally figuring out, Hey, you know this guy's pretty good.
Speaker 4 (19:40):
Who can we call him? Hey, I saw a dunk.
Guess who that looked like, Yeah, let's go.
Speaker 5 (19:46):
Well, he's got too menisquas, so he can't be Lonzo Ball.
Speaker 4 (19:49):
Oh too soon on Lonzo Ball.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
Then hey, Lonzo's getting twenty one million dollars next year,
whether he plays a minute or not.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
Dude, Lonzo said, he's getting him and he's getting another
meniscus somehow he's got he He's getting a donation of
a meniscus.
Speaker 5 (20:02):
Something did I didn't even know that was a thing.
Speaker 4 (20:04):
Yeah, I'm an organ donor. I didn't give him mine,
but it's there.
Speaker 5 (20:08):
Donate meniscus. I never heard of that.
Speaker 4 (20:11):
Kobe used to go to Germany and get new blood.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
You can go to the pightlet therapy and everything. Yeah, no, no, no,
I guarantee you. Obviously it's a cadaver meniscus. It's not
like live I mean like like, but here's something for like.
For instance, like if Aaron Rodgers got hurt again and
needed an achilles, I would give him my dad's achilles.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
I would. I would, I would get the chloroform. There's
not in there. I'd knock my he doesn't need it anymore.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
I would knock my dad out and I would take
him and said he would wake up and hey, dad,
you're fine, everything is good.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
What happened. You had a fall? You're all good. What happened? No, No,
you're good, You're good. And Aaron Rodger would have a
new achilles and it'd work out like you.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
But this, obviously, I'm sure it's a cadaver meniscus because
this is how they do it.
Speaker 4 (20:49):
And look this.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
People sign up there they're organ donors and and they
uh and and you know, hey, we got a match.
You gotta got a miniscus.
Speaker 4 (20:56):
Very good.
Speaker 5 (20:56):
To be honest, before today, guys, you never heard of
a meniscus donor.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
Oh I don't know that I've ever met somebody. He's
saying at a party. Tone, Hey, what's your name, I'm Bob,
I'm a moniscus doner.
Speaker 5 (21:06):
Oh hey, dude, you don't go to parties.
Speaker 4 (21:07):
Bob, did I go to party? You go to more
parties than you do.
Speaker 5 (21:10):
Man, church doesn't count.
Speaker 4 (21:12):
You don't know. You don't know the parties I go to.
You have churches. W party, it's a party. Come on, Mary,
you know that churches were the place to be seen
and to meet and greet right there.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
You don't even believe that.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
Right now, right now, the Mavericks beat lead the Tea Wolves.
They have just gone on an eight to oh run
to start the fourth quarter. They lead it eighty seven
eighty six. All of a sudden, Kyrie Irving has caught fire.
He hits a three and now it's a one point lead.
Speaker 4 (21:46):
Time out.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
Timber Wolves could even get to the four minute mark
for a time out. Time out a minute and a
half into the fourth quarter. Again Mavericks with a one
point lead, but still a lot of time left. Meanwhile,
another big game tonight right now going on here in La.
The Sparks lead the Fever twenty three seventeen. Because you know, obviously,
Caitlin Clark is gonna play every single night for the
(22:08):
rest of her life. So far, Caitlyn Clark has four
points in eight minutes.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
She has missed both of.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
Her threes again early in this game, eight minutes to
go on the second quarter, Caitlin Clark four points for
the Fever Sparks lead at twenty three to seventeen.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
Cameron Brink has six. She's already plus ten for the game,
now four boards as well.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
Yeah, I mean she's she's having a big look at
It's great. And then and this gets into my point
because there is nobody who needs my pr advice right
now more than WNBA, more than the than the league
and the players, Okay, because what's been going on in
the last few weeks is just unacceptable. All right, now,
this is what I would do. This is what I
would do, because they need my advice. I get everybody
(22:53):
in a room, and it's and it's and it's commissioner,
and it's the teams, it's the coaches, and it's everybody.
I'd say, okay, all right, let's let let me tell
you something here because everybody's got a cool down. And
the biggest thing I got to tell this league with
everything that's going on in the last few days, which
has been kind of embarrassing.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
Is.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
We need to learn how to handle success. Because that's
the biggest thing that causes downfall for teams players is
when you have some success, you can't handle it and
you melt down and you suddenly you can't focus, you
can't handle the good times, and that brings on the
bad times. And the last few days, what's dominated the
(23:34):
news a really bad optic that WNBA players are jealous
of Caitlyn Clark. And it's funny that the day, you know,
we told you this a couple of weeks ago, We
talked about this a couple weeks ago that hey, got
to watch out. Everybody should be thanking Caitlin Clark. She's
got you wanted charter flights, right, everybody complained for so long. Yeah,
she's the next one, right, she's here. She's the biggest
star they ever come in. She goes on one commercial
(23:56):
flight and the next week it's here. Is we have
twenty five million dollars. Everybody's gonna be on charter flights.
That's a pretty big deal. And yet still it's met
with a little bit of skepticism from some people, and
you get a back and forth that may not be
one hundred percent accurate. Right, Diana Tarossi's comments kind of
misconstrued a little bit But then you get some other
players who are clapping back at Charles Barkley when Barkley
(24:17):
said the other night, everybody should be lining up to
kiss Caitlyn Clark's butt and all this stuff and everything
and the hate shouldn't be there, And you got a
couple of players tweeting back saying, what hate, what are
you talking about?
Speaker 4 (24:28):
We all love Caitlyn, what she brings to the league.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
And then last night Angel Reese puts out a tweet saying,
look at us, we won full arena, not because of
one person that got us a charter flight.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
Whoa whoa, whoa whoa.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
Now she deleted the tweet, But it's kind of funny
that one day after Charles Barkley says, yeah, you gotta
stop hating on Caitlyn Clark, and you get a bunch
of players saying, what hate are you talking about? Angel
rees puts out there, Hey a a bit of a
shade tweet on Caitlin Clark. Not a bit of a
shade on Caitlyn Clark. And what I you know, the
biggest thing I would say is okay, everybody just calm down.
(25:01):
I understand from some players with you guys that there's
gonna be some kind of jealousy. I get that, but
don't go to social media with it. Don't do interviews
on this. You are seeing the good times hitting the
wa You have been fighting for this for so long,
for the WNBA to be relevant, for you, for your
players to be stars, for people to be talking about you,
(25:23):
and now we're talking about all of them.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
You are a nightly show.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
Now we're talking about every big star in the WNBA.
We're talking big about women's college basketball. And yet what's
the optic out there that there's too many people that
are jealous of Caitlin Clark's success and the race card
is played and there's all kinds of crazy stuff going on.
I would would I would tell the players and the
coaches this, listen. I understand that. But this is the
(25:48):
best that our league's ever had.
Speaker 6 (25:49):
It.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
We are trying to capitalize right now and grow this game.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
And if you have anything petty that you're upset about
for whatever reason, you know what, Hey, that stuff you've
vent to your to your friends about, but go on
social media with it.
Speaker 4 (26:02):
How does that help us? How does that help everybody else? Right?
Speaker 1 (26:05):
You say you want it's not about one player. It's
about the league, then stop coming up with things that
make it look like, oh, I don't like Caitlyn, I'm
jealous of her success or why did we get this before?
Why didn't I get a shoe deal? It really is.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
It just sucks. And I'm not saying there's not anything
that is legitimate on there.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
You know, we talk about the success of Kaitlyn Clark
and being white, and I understand that part of it,
but also understand she's the all time leading scorer in
women's college basketball. I mean, we're talking about a player
who is the biggest superstar that's ever come out of
the college basketball. But I get all of it. I
get it's not one neat thing. But we're in a
time right now where, hey, this is the momentum this
(26:43):
league has been looking for for twenty five years. Can
we can we handle success? Can we show that we're
ready for the moment, that we're ready for it to
be taken seriously as a big league that gets highlights
played on Sports Center alongside the NBA Playoffs, that gets
stories done on players, that gets players shoe Can we.
Speaker 4 (27:00):
Just focus on that?
Speaker 1 (27:01):
Can we put away we're upset about how how one
person has looked at or how other people talk about.
What can we just stop that? Because that's not helping anybody.
And that's why I would say this, because I'm saying
handle success, and if you really are looking out for
everybody in the WNBA, let's just stop. Let's just let's
just keep this down. Let's take the temperature down a bit.
Let's go play basketball. Let's get on the television shows
(27:24):
every night. Let's get people watching on IOW, and let's
get people watching on Twitter, like two hundred thousand people
watching the game the other night, Like that woman who
streamed Angel Reese's first game on her phone got two
hundred thousand viewers. Let's show that we can handle success.
That's the biggest thing I would tell the WNBA right now.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
Yeah, I mean it goes back to several weeks ago
when these conversations began. I likened it to the old
all Right, I had a party that started at eight
and you didn't show up till eight twenty five?
Speaker 4 (27:55):
Am I mad that you showed up at eight twenty five?
Speaker 3 (27:58):
Now if it was a watch party for some half
assed reality show and you made us sit and wait
for you because you were stuck in traffic or couldn't
bother to, you know, show.
Speaker 4 (28:06):
Up on time.
Speaker 3 (28:07):
Sure, that might happen for a minute, but then hey,
I'm happy you made it. Let's have a glass of wine,
grab a beer, whatever, and sit and hang out. And
I feel like that's kind of where we're at is.
There's just residual anger. It's like, well, why did it
need this? And for angel Rees, she wants her love.
She's done a lot of big things, right because became
(28:27):
a part owner of a team, she graduated, she was
on stage with like top notche wrappers, all of this stuff.
She went to the met Gala, I mean, not the Mets,
the met Gala, all of those things are big milestones.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
And I get it.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
Maybe you feel like the coverage of your entry to
the WNBA got dwarfed by Clark's brink.
Speaker 4 (28:49):
I'm sure.
Speaker 3 (28:49):
I mean in their private moments, sure's a little bit
of that. But you go to social media and now
it becomes you know, it's a battle and petty, and
do I begrudge it?
Speaker 4 (28:58):
No, You're young and you want your shine too.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
You've won a title, You've done all these great things,
and you came to the party at the exact same time.
So I understand the frustration to a degree. The larger
perspective and the fact that veteran players are still being
asked about this stuff is asinine to me. Right If
you watch the clips of her game and you want
(29:22):
to comment on how Caitlin Clark is playing, if that
were the question, fine, But at this point you're settling
into the new norm. You're being publicized and scrutinized in
a way that hasn't been there, which great power comes
the great responsibility. We'll get Spider Man in here to
help Spider Man because a bunch of folks who haven't
(29:44):
covered the sport are on board.
Speaker 4 (29:46):
And I get it.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
Some of it's going to be a little uncomfortable, and
you're gonna have some folks that do it in a
handhanded way. Don't help them, don't enable them by buying
into some Bucus narratives.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
And the thing is is that I'm just telling you
is this is how it's playing. Like to look at
and say, well, that's not what I meant, that's not
But when all of this looks this way, that's how
this is playing. It's playing with a really bad optic
and it's unnecessary, grab the moment without making it look
like we're tearing each other apart to.
Speaker 4 (30:16):
Get up there. I mean, I I really, you've been
waiting for this for twenty five years. Twenty five yees.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
Someone's got to be the adult and say, hey, guys,
can we just cool it and just enjoy the success
and move on? And everybody can everybody does really well?
I mean, we can't do that. I mean that that's
what we need right now. That's what I would say
my pr advice. And it's free white sides. Man, we
need a little solidarity free to the WNBA right there
by free advice right now. A guy who gave me
the best advice I ever had. He said, hey, don't
(30:44):
eat any yellow snow. It's Steve Disager with what's trending
in the wide world of sports.
Speaker 5 (30:47):
I thought you were gonna say, cut down on McDonald's.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
Yeah, oh wow, did you not learn anything from the
late grade Morgan spurl that that's two suits.
Speaker 5 (30:58):
I did not have Jason out living that guy on
my Bengal cards.
Speaker 8 (31:01):
To be whoa by the way, updating that game in LA.
That's the only WNBA game tonight, the oh to five. Yeah,
Kitlin Clark's Indiana fever down twenty nine twenty five mid
second quarter. Clark at four points and four rebounds so
far in the game. In the NBA playoff game at Minnesota,
Timberwolves had regained the lead six and a half minutes
(31:23):
to go. This is Game two of the NBA's West Final.
Dallas had taken the opener Minnesota head tonight ninety four
ninety two as Naz Reid off the bench from three
point range is seven of eight for twenty one points.
Anthony Edwards four of sixteen shooting, Karl Anthony Towns four
of sixteen shooting. Those two guys from three point range
have combined to go three for twelve, but Minnesota is
(31:46):
back in the lead by two. Luka Donsich with twenty
seven points, eight rebounds, nine assists for Dallas. In the
NHL's East Final Game two at New York boy the
Rangers scored very early a few minutes into this game tonight.
They haven't scored since it's Rangers won Florida one six
and a half minutes to go in regulation. Florida took
(32:07):
the opener of the best of seven. Davis Riley leads
by two strokes at Colonial play resumed after being suspended
by bad weather. Today, Scottie Scheffler shot sixty five to
move up into the top twenty. The champion Kansas City
Chiefs will visit the White House next Friday. The Indy
five hundred is scheduled for this Sunday, but thunderstorms are expected.
Then NASCAR's Coca Cola six hundred is this Sunday night
(32:30):
on Fox TV from Charlotte, with temperature is near ninety there.
And the UFL football season continues Sunday on Fox TV
before the race the next to last weekend of that
league's regular season their conference finals June the eighth. To
Major League Baseball, The Yankees are in San Diego, not
exactly a park known for home runs, and yet you
(32:50):
Darvish has given up four in four innings. It's Yankee
seven nothing over the Padres. In the bottom of the fourth.
He allowed to Wan Soto x Padre a long two
run homer in the third over four hundred twenty feet.
Right after that, Aaron Judge a home run over four
hundred feet, and yes, Gen Carlos stand also homered in
(33:11):
that inning, a two run shot nearly four hundred twenty
feet now. Glebor Torres homered in the top of the
fourth that was over four hundred feet seven nothing. Yankees
in the lead against Darvish, who had thrown twenty five
straight scoreless.
Speaker 5 (33:25):
Innings until tonight.
Speaker 8 (33:27):
The White Sox have tied it up against the Orioles
four to four in the top of the eighth. The
Phillies have won six in a row. They're leading two
to one at Colorado. Top of the ninth. Bryce Harper
was kicked out early. Guardians are having a great season
and they've won six in a row. Cleveland leads four
to two at the Angels in the top of the
fourth inning. Houston had six to one at the A's
in the top of the fourth. The A's starter tonight
(33:50):
was Ross Stripling, who's won and eight. Marlins lead three
to nothing at Arizona in the fifth. Everything else's final,
including wins for Cincinnati and San Francisco updates six minutes
to go. Dallas has tied it again at Minnesota at
ninety four.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
Back to you, Thanks a much, Steve O.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carbon
Livethetirack dot Com Studios. More on Dallas Minnesota coming up
next again, it's a tie game with six minutes left
to go.
Speaker 4 (34:16):
But straight ahead, there's some.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
Topics that we give you big, strong opinions on. Then
there's some topics that we double down on. Then after
today there's one I can now triple down on it.
Speaker 4 (34:28):
After what happened? What is it?
Speaker 1 (34:30):
Mike and I will tell you next right here Jason
and Mike Fox Sports Radio, Bailey tries.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
One a deep right field Yes.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
Good, good swam and the Giants are doing it again tonight.
Speaker 4 (34:49):
Thanks a lot, appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
Mayor be sure to catch live editions of The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern,
seven pm Pacific FO.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon live from the diirec dot Com studios. Just
picturing Jeffrey Jones limping along the side of the road
the bus comes to pick him up at the end
of Farispeeler.
Speaker 4 (35:13):
H three and a half to go in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
After a frantic Dallas Mavericks comeback, it has been a
back and forth battle. Minnesota now leads Dallas one oh
two to one hundred. Luka Doncic closing in on a
triple double. Again, a two point game with three and
a half left to go, Donte HiT's a free throw
may get one o two, one oh one time out
(35:36):
on the floor. We will have some kind of finish
to this game coming up the next few minutes. But
elsewhere in the NBA, there's topics that we give strong
opinions on. Then there's topics that you learn stuff and
say I am doubling down on this. Then we learn
even more and I say I am tripling down on
this for reasons passing understanding Bronni James has been a
(35:57):
huge topic of conversation the last few dime and his
draft status and how a lot of money is going
down on him going number one overall because people want
to just throw fifty bucks on a flyer that somehow
someone will take Bronnie James and helps they're gonna get
lebron James to come along with them, and and most
casinos are saying, yeah, we'll keep taking that bet.
Speaker 4 (36:16):
Yet oh yeah, give it up your money, keep giving
us your money, free, free money, baby.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
But what if we said all along, this is how
it's gonna play out. Bronni's not going to get drafted,
and there's going to be some sort of understood understands. Yeah,
I would say understood back door shenanigans that we're gonna
get Bronni to the Lakers, and this is what's going
(36:42):
to happen. Well, the Lakers take to use a draft
pick on him, No, but he won't go get drafted,
and after the draft is over, the Lakers will sign him.
That's how it's gonna go.
Speaker 5 (36:50):
Bet IMGM Jason disagrees with you.
Speaker 4 (36:52):
Well, I'll.
Speaker 5 (36:56):
Row on him being drafted number one.
Speaker 4 (37:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (37:00):
No, we talked about this a little bit last week.
Just yeah, I mean that that percentage went up a
little bit there.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
Yeah, yeah, I would. I could.
Speaker 1 (37:11):
Can I be my own bookie and and take bets
on that. I'll take bets on that legally, sure, Oh
we can't.
Speaker 4 (37:18):
Publicize it here on Fox Sports Radio or so I
can't do it. I like that.
Speaker 1 (37:24):
I could be epay, Why I would we have more
Harmon's credit card number.
Speaker 4 (37:28):
I could do that. That'd be absolutely fine. Uh So, yeah, look,
that's not happened. It's not happening for for Brownie James.
Speaker 1 (37:35):
Too too late. We already we already have the card number.
We already have your new number as well. It's been
automatically generated. We have Ai Harmon that's already said yes
to boy. So this is what we said for a while,
and we doubled down on it with the with the
information the last couple of days, and now after today,
I'll triple down on that because we find out that
he's only going to have limited workouts like the Lakers
(37:58):
and the Sun's only going to work out for a
couple of teams. Right, this is a guy that is
a second round pick, should be working out for as
many teams as he wants to, but instead limited workouts.
And Rich Paul, who's his agent obviously Bronny's going to
be Clutch Sports, says, yeah, we're not doing a two
way deal, which means, you know, you get paid the
same whether you're playing in the NBA or you're in.
Speaker 4 (38:16):
The G League.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
Not doing a two way deal, which is something that
is usually pretty common for guys taking in the second round.
Each team can have three players on two way deals,
and when you have someone that's likely going to spend
time in the G League, that's what you do. But
here's I'm saying, you're not going to have two way deals. Now,
why both of these things significant because with stories in
the last few days, ever since Bronnie's draft position story
(38:39):
has come out, we have seen that, yes, a lot
of teams have him as a late second round pick.
This is to scare those teams off. He's not gonna
come work out for you and we're not going to
sign a two way deal anything else. Okay, guess what
crossing Brownie James off that list? Not taking him in
the second round just so the draft can end and
he can go to the Lakers. That's what's going down
(39:00):
for Rich Paul and Bronnie James to be putting this
out there. This is not anything any second round pick
is ever gonna say limited workouts and yeah, no two
way deal.
Speaker 4 (39:08):
Dude, don't you want to make the league? Obviously they
don't care.
Speaker 1 (39:11):
They don't care because they know they can finagle Bronnie
James's destination to wherever they want it to be, and
obviously it's going to be with the Lakers.
Speaker 4 (39:19):
The Lakers have said, I want to do anything we
can to make lebron James happy.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
It's gonna be getting Bronnie James right, It's gonna be
him playing in the G League. It's gonna be Lebron
and Bronnie playing a couple of games together in the preseason,
which will be fun video that everybody looks for. OU
it's gonna be a great thing. That's how it's gonna go.
And after today, these stories are to scare other teams off.
So it's an easier path for Bronnie James to be
a Laker because they know someone could draft him and
(39:45):
then the plan and then then the plan goes out
the window. So this is saying stay away, we know
where you want them to go, and we're gonna push
him that direction.
Speaker 3 (39:51):
With the fifty third pick, whatever that team is goes
up and they've issued a statement in addition to their
draft pick. It says, you ain't the boss of me.
We select Ronnie James. I mean, how many teams don't
have a clutch player on their squad? How many of
(40:14):
those people have expressed disinterest in getting going down that
rabbit hole?
Speaker 4 (40:20):
I don't know. It's it's a curious thing. I agree.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
Didn't we have Donovan Klingons numbody? Didn't we have him
as the top guy Availba? Nope, we're going with Bronnie James.
Now let's cross him off. Let's go down bypasst All.
Tell me what to do and what we're not gonna do.
Speaker 4 (40:36):
I still run this squad here.
Speaker 3 (40:39):
Look, I still think the the Lakers draft him for
the you know, optics, be damned because people are gonna
say what they're gonna say regardless. So why not give
him his moment and give the NBA a thrill during
the draft. But yeah, all in all, it's it's bully
ball time for clutch sports.
Speaker 5 (40:57):
I help both your teams suck for ten years.
Speaker 4 (40:59):
I hope your Hey, you're getting Doc Rivers too. I hope.
I hope Doc comes out.
Speaker 1 (41:04):
I hope Doc comes out and announces the pick, and uh,
we're gonna sit here and take Alway say we sorry,
let the get out of the bag. You on the
new head coach. Oh, we're taking Brownie?
Speaker 4 (41:12):
All right?
Speaker 5 (41:12):
Nay, thanks Lock, Thanks Giants Grand Slam.
Speaker 4 (41:15):
Coming up next was some kind of finish in.
Speaker 1 (41:20):
Switch Doe Brill Shot Tons Tinner Things, The lead.
Speaker 4 (41:29):
Shot Dallas is tick of the lead.
Speaker 1 (41:35):
Kevin Harlan on TNT with the call the shot of
Luka Doncic's career so far, because it has his team
two games away from their first NBA Finals. They come
from behind an absolute melt down by the Timberwolves. In
the final minute, a five point lead disappears. The Mavericks
(41:56):
win it one oh nine to one O eight, and
again Kevin Harlan t TEA on the call.
Speaker 4 (42:01):
What to make of this?
Speaker 1 (42:02):
What to make of the decisions the Tea Wolves made
in the last minute and the.
Speaker 4 (42:05):
Gift they gave to the Mavericks.
Speaker 1 (42:07):
Nobody better to talk to right now on the hotline,
longtime NBA insider NBA on NBC, hence the round ball
Rock friend of the show, Kurt Healing?
Speaker 4 (42:17):
Kurt? What's happening? Bud? How are you man?
Speaker 6 (42:20):
Oh? It's so much fun when these games are on,
isn't it like? This is this series? I only wish
it wasn't too, oh because I wanted to go a
long time.
Speaker 4 (42:28):
Well.
Speaker 1 (42:29):
First, before we get to that, I want to say,
are you taking Barkley's place?
Speaker 6 (42:32):
Like?
Speaker 4 (42:32):
Can you give us that? Is that happening? Is that
going to happen when the NBA goes to NBC.
Speaker 6 (42:37):
I can put on a few pounds and try to
take them. Nah, you know, I gotta say, I'm i
will tell you that when NBC is making two point
five billion dollar investment decisions, they don't really go, Hey,
what's our basketball writers thinks. So I'm on the outside
of the.
Speaker 1 (42:58):
All right, well, let's find out what you think about
what we saw in the last minute, because obviously it
looked like the Timberwolves were going to win their up
by five or the minute a half left to go. Yes,
Kyrie hits a three, and then we saw some turnovers
by Anthony Edwards.
Speaker 4 (43:10):
But let's start with a big shot.
Speaker 1 (43:12):
Let's start with Luka Doncic and the three that gives
the Mavericks the lead they wind up winning.
Speaker 4 (43:17):
I was really surprised.
Speaker 1 (43:19):
Hey, I get that Rudy Gobert is a defensive Player
of the Year, but that's not a strength out on
the perimeter on Luca. He's gonna be able to get
the three. I can't believe they didn't make him give
the ball up in the final set. Makes it even
if it's Kyrie, somebody else besides Luca take that shot.
Speaker 4 (43:35):
At the end.
Speaker 6 (43:36):
Yeah, they've had more success bulletzing him than switching like that.
And the other thing is, and I know they brought
this up on the broadcast. I don't know that I
have Rudy out there. They Luca had been hunting Rudy
because that's a good matchup for him. Pat's better, not
there's just options. You've got Kyle Anderson, who's not exactly
(43:58):
the fastest guy, but Rudy's brilliant when you get to
drop him, you know, in a drop coverage situation, but
when you can bring him up to the level of
ball and make him defend shooters like that, it's just
not what he does. He's gotten better, but it's just
not what he does well. Luca wanted the matchup. He
got it and got through his spot and nailed it.
Speaker 3 (44:18):
Kurt not to mention the fact that earlier in the game,
Rudy Gobert gave him one of those shots to the
rib cage coming off the road w W style that
seemed to wake Luca up, because he played a much
better and cleaner game the rest of the way.
Speaker 6 (44:33):
Yeah, maybe don't. You wouldn't don't make him angry. You
wouldn't like him when he's angry.
Speaker 4 (44:38):
Nicely done.
Speaker 3 (44:39):
Go back to the old NBC vehicle of the Incredible
Hulk right there.
Speaker 4 (44:42):
Nicely done because you can read.
Speaker 6 (44:49):
It.
Speaker 1 (44:49):
It is a long time ago, Kurt, you're talking about
the late seventies. But but you read Luca's lips, you
can't blank and guard me. He's screaming at the back
of Rudy Gobert after he hits that three, and.
Speaker 6 (45:02):
You needed somebody quicker or more physical who could not
he know, he wants to get to the step back
three and you take that away and you let him
drive the lane, and it's you know, it's a tie
game instead of a He gets the two and it's
a tie game and that's less of a problem. So
it was some really, Like I said, I'm a little
(45:22):
surprised they left Rudy out there because the second he
was out there, that was going to be Luca's target.
Speaker 1 (45:31):
Kurt Heel and our guest, the Jason Spizer with Mike
Carmon live from the tire rack dot Com studios. All right,
so from Luca, let's go to Anthony Edwards, who I
think I think the Michael Jordan comparisons are going to
calm down a little bit. You have that final You
look at the final minute.
Speaker 4 (45:44):
That he had, he had the the bad pass.
Speaker 1 (45:46):
That turned into uh, the McDaniel's turnover because it was
a bad pass.
Speaker 4 (45:50):
He could could barely.
Speaker 1 (45:51):
Get his hands on it, gets knocked out of his hands,
goes out.
Speaker 4 (45:53):
Of bounds, turns it over to the Mavericks.
Speaker 1 (45:56):
Then he throws the ball out of bounds with twelve
seconds left, and then with three seconds left, he takes
a dribble and dishes it over to nas Reed, who
has to get a hurried three instead of you know, hey,
pass it over with it if you don't not going
to take the shot, pass it over a couple of
seconds left, let nas Red gather himself. He hit five
already in the game. But I watched this end of
this game and watched Anthony Edwards basically two turnovers and
(46:19):
with the basketball three times in the final minute not
take a shot. It's just stunning that that was the
final minute that he had in this game.
Speaker 6 (46:29):
I think two things. A As this is true of Edwards,
but I think it's true of the Timberwolves just because
they haven't been here before. They're just not used to
the stage. They're not ready for the moment because they
just haven't done it before. And Edwards is gassed. And
this was the second game in a row where I mean, look,
(46:50):
they just came off a seven game series. It's every
other night. This is I think what goes under thought
about is, you know, since the NBA started allowing more
physical play, and they do that in the playoff anyway.
But I think we all know, you know, starting in February,
they they kind of let the game get more physical.
The playoffs have certainly been that way. That just takes
(47:10):
more out of you, right Like anything physical like that,
it's just it takes more out of you. And he's
he's made tired decisions in the last minutes of games
right now, and I think as a team, they've got
some work to do to figure out how to be
better in those moments.
Speaker 3 (47:28):
Wow, he's still a couple of months shy of turning
twenty three, and we're using the tired thing.
Speaker 4 (47:34):
Michael Jordan was never tired, he was sick.
Speaker 6 (47:39):
I just you know, he just the decisions he's making
look that way to me. I don't think, you know,
He's stuff just doesn't seem to be don't clicking. And
they're also just yeah, they haven't been there, they haven't
been in these moments, and that you get tight and
Luca and the Mavericks, Yeah, Kyrie's there and it's new,
but Tyree's been in a couple of big moments.
Speaker 4 (48:02):
Guys.
Speaker 6 (48:02):
He hit a couple of shots, and as a team,
a lot of these guys have been there. There's just
a much with Lucas, there's just a calmer They're just
calmer in those moments there. Hey, Luca's gonna get the ball,
get the match if he wants to get to his
shot on that step back and not be rushed into
something he doesn't want to do.
Speaker 3 (48:20):
I guess the recency for me, Kurt, of what they
did to Denver would have played a little more into
how the game finishes, Right, you chase them down in
a closeout down twenty and now you're eighteen in this
in exactly the same kind of circumstance to go and
at least you know, draw even on the home court,
(48:43):
and then in the final minutes like you're not able
to keep the composer. Just kind of an interesting the
Hunter versus Hunt did.
Speaker 6 (48:50):
Yeah, Actually, that's a really good point that they they
really were. I mean, they were the more poised team
and they were the fresher team and less hired teams
in the last round when when Denver I think Denver
was playing four guys most they were just wiped by
the end, and and it showed. And and maybe I
(49:15):
wonder if they feel a little more comfortable now they're
down o to some pressures off there out of there
on the road. I wonder if they I wonder if
they played better in Game three, just out of that
home environment.
Speaker 1 (49:25):
Who's got the better chance coming down to Is it
Minnesota on the road or in the Pacers at home?
Speaker 6 (49:31):
Oh Minnesota, dude, it's.
Speaker 3 (49:36):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (49:38):
Yes, I know.
Speaker 1 (49:39):
Anytime Kurt Healing says, dude, I know, I know how Seriously,
what is it, dude, dude?
Speaker 6 (49:43):
I got it now you can now you can tell
I was raised in southern California. If you're in southern California,
you know, dude, is like like certain curse words. It
is literally every part of speech. It's not even it's
not even a thing. Some times it's just like you
miss a stop.
Speaker 1 (50:01):
Like you're like, dude, Long Beach is fine, as Kurt Healing,
our guests here on Fox Sports Radio. So give me
a percentage, give me a percentage change. There's no chance
for the Pacers. Give me a percentage chance. You think
the Wolves can still come back and not not even
not even win the series, tie it at two to
two percentage.
Speaker 4 (50:20):
They can tie it to two two hmmm, because we've seen.
Speaker 6 (50:24):
Him win twenty before, right, I say, I was gonna
say two five. You know what, Actually I'll make it
like thirty. Like I think that there's a chance that
they start to get they figure out that these haven't
been blowout games. In fact, they've led both games. I
was just looking this up. They've led both games with
two minutes and ten seconds to go, and they just
again haven't been able to close it out. But that
(50:46):
is something that can They're closer Indiana is I don't
think on the same talent level. But more importantly, dude, again,
if Albert, if Haliburton's not there, I mean, and we
don't know his status, but if he's either not playing
or frankly just slowed, they're done right, They're just I mean,
(51:10):
we all Connelly's kind of a drop off.
Speaker 3 (51:14):
Well, I mean, they had their their chance in game
one and they let them off the hook. Yeah, there
was your home game to steal from the Celtics.
Speaker 6 (51:21):
It was exactly that, didn't you didn't when you were
watching that didn't you think that. You're like, oh, they're
toast now. That was the game that was Yeah, and.
Speaker 3 (51:28):
Then it was a comedy of errors coaching wise, and
playmaking and decision making in the final ten seconds of regulation.
That really is you know, Jason's enumerating all of the
Edwards stuff here. He's one guy. You could pass the
blame pie to a lot of guys in that game.
Speaker 4 (51:45):
One.
Speaker 6 (51:46):
Oh they that was painful to watch. Yeah, and it again,
I think it was just one of those where you're like,
I was surprised they stayed as close as they did.
That was the kind of demoralizing game where I thought
they'd get crushed by more than when end up being
sixteen or seven team in the second game, I thought
it would be worse than that.
Speaker 1 (52:04):
You know, Kurt Last said, let me go with this
because I feel like, you know, I've been I've been
you know, pounding on the tea wolves the last few minutes.
Speaker 4 (52:09):
And look they did give this gayway. But no, no, no,
I have no dog in this fight.
Speaker 1 (52:13):
It's not like they're playing the next I mean, come on,
but I will Anthony Edwards mac Jones, I will say, well,
they're mac Jones and and you see what's happened when
you mac Jones, somebody he turns into mac Jones. I
will say this on the McDaniels turnover, the first one,
where was the bad pass by Anthony Edwards? I mean
you can you go back and look at that and see, yes,
(52:33):
it goes out and bounds off McDaniels. But Kyrie fouls them.
I mean he knocks and that all needs to be reviewable.
It can't just be well, it was a foul, but
it was all. I mean that needs to be reviewable too,
doesn't it.
Speaker 6 (52:44):
You and I are on the same page there along
with I think Stan on the is Sandon gonna be
on the on the broadcast if you're going to open up, Matt,
can you know open up that can then you get
everything inside right? Like to me, it's like if you
once you review that and you can call it a
foul if it was a foul, because what you end
up with is a technically correct call. That isn't justice,
(53:09):
that isn't fair because that should have been a foul.
Speaker 1 (53:13):
You can follow on Twitter at Basketball Talk that is,
at Basketball Talk NBA, at NBC insider Kurt Healing if
you see him in Long Beach. He will say hi
to you and he will call you dude. Thanks a bunch, man.
We'll talk to you next week. We'll have more NBA
in the way.
Speaker 3 (53:29):
Take care, guys, holiday weekend. Dude, dude, as soon as
you asked a question, I'm like, Okay, how's he going
to diplomatically respond to this?
Speaker 4 (53:40):
And he just went straight to dude.
Speaker 1 (53:42):
Dude, Well, I gotta gotta ask the question, right.
Speaker 3 (53:45):
I loved it though, you laid it up, and I'm like,
all right, let's see how he's gonna take this one.
Speaker 4 (53:53):
The Pacers.
Speaker 1 (53:54):
But look, you're also talking about one team that is
a better team, but they're going on the road, and
yes we've seen them. They won three games on the
road in the last run against the defending jamp So okay,
but you're also talking about one team going home for
two games. So okay, I got it. But you know
he dude, get I said, Okay, gave me. He gave me, Dude.
This means the answer is not the Pacers.
Speaker 4 (54:12):
You think.
Speaker 5 (54:13):
When he's at a party, When Kurt's at a party,
he says, I'm the dude, I'm.
Speaker 4 (54:16):
The dad he could be. I'm the dude.
Speaker 1 (54:20):
He's he's laying on the ground in the middle of
the floor, listening to bowling the semifinals on his on
his walk.
Speaker 4 (54:25):
Man, he's just good pressing the button listening.
Speaker 3 (54:28):
Little earl Anthony versus Mark Roth. Let's go, come on,
shakle on the
