Speaker 1 (00:48):
A couple minutes left to go. Stars are on the board.
They have an empty net. They trail Edmonton three to one.
Edmonton Oilers could go up three games to two and
go home with a chance head to the Stanley Cup Final.
Jerry Jones partying. Where is Connor McDavid Jersey All around
Dallas right now? At least there's one other team's not
going to the finals. And his name's not the Dallas Cowboys.

(01:10):
Come on, McDavid, let's go. Let's go, David mcconnor, let's go.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
But I want to know. But the other way applied
more pressure to him to do something crazy if it
still might happen. You never know, Well this might happen.
Series isn't over, obviously, you know, we gotta get to four.
But but certainly, this this puts a damper on what
I thought could be by themselves.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Look, Stanton's having a having an okay, comeback ish type year.
He's having very ped Alonzo type yere, he's got hey,
his home runs are good, his RBIs are okay, and
his batting averages two twenty.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
Wait did you just say I didn't say that, Well,
you said he's having a Alonzo year.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Hey, dude, are you love to get pet a Lonzo
on the dodge hand of court?

Speaker 3 (01:52):
He's fine, he played tonight.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Come on, now, come on, come on, Uh, these two
are just carrying the Yankees.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Well, it's not like everybody else is terrible.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
And it's good to see that Anthony Volpi is having
a little bit better season.

Speaker 5 (02:04):
Now.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Looks like maybe last year he needed some time to
get going. But you look at I mean, it's Soto
and Judge are just they're like what Bets and Freeman
did every day last year for the Dodgers on their
way to one hundred and ten wins in a first
round loss in the playoffs. I mean, they're doing everything
those guys did last year. It's a extect. They're doing
it with more power. You know, it's just more power

(02:24):
seeing these guys where you know, Flip Freeman and Bets
hit home runs, but look, they're they're gap hitters. You know,
Freeman's a big gap hitter. He gets you know, ninety
doubles a year. But watching Judge and Soto and look,
being a Met fan, I'm telling you this, this Yankee
show that they put on every single night is just outstanding.
And they even haven't been healthy all the way yet
all year, I mean, you're still I mean, but you're

(02:47):
still waiting for some guys, and here they are at
the at the top of the American League East.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
I mean, I know you want to give the.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
MVP to to Sodo right out the gate, but boy,
here here comes Judge.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Now he leads the majors in home runs, fun stuff
and getting some better returns from some of their starting pitching.
You know how much it pains me to see Carlos
Rodin pitching well in a Yankee uniform instead of those
years that he had as a member of my beloved
continually losing White Sox. But certainly, you know, a team

(03:19):
that is interesting top to bottom. I know there were
a lot of hot take articles and wishing and hoping
of Juan Soto that he's won and done right, that
he that he's gonna end up back in San Diago
before it's all said and done. So it's it'll be
an interesting run. But watching Judge the last couple of
weeks and you and.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
I you know, working in this time getting the the
end of games or things that are happening live in
front of us, and watching him get to that form
of a couple of years ago.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Because this last month has been ridiculous, right, what is it?

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Fourteen homers in the month of May, And yes, I
know we get the bonus day, but it's the just
absolutely sure the pace he's hitting at right now.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
Hey, guys, yeah, what do you got from? If Gunner
Henderson is on long three, he's not He's not too
happy with this conversation.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Hey, I told you he was my MVP pick in
the beginning of the sea and he's playing great.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
But he's playing well and Aaron Judge.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Are what am I gonna lie that they're playing great?
These guys both think they're in one ninety five. Neither
has at least five home runs?

Speaker 4 (04:23):
No, but are they the MVP?

Speaker 3 (04:25):
I mean, Judge, Soto, Henderson, the are your three best player?

Speaker 1 (04:28):
I feel pretty good about my pick because waiting to
see how the season goes, I love Gunner Henderson.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
So who's number one of all three?

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Right now?

Speaker 1 (04:35):
I would say, if you are doing we're doing the
NBA MVP ranking. Yeah, if you're doing NBA MVP rankings,
I would say Sodo one, Henderson two, Judge three.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
Soda one.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
SODA's because he's carried the Yankees for long. Judge has
been hot lately, but Soto has carried them from the
open from opening day. He has carried the Yankees.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
But they got half a field at home where you
and I can hit home runs.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Well, Hey man, I can't fall to good strategy for
going to a squad where that's gonna help you. Let's
go get them done.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
The White Sox fence is like one hundred feet and
yet they can't hit it over all.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Right, You're lucky I'm not there with a hundred and
five feet to kick your ass. It's one of those
when you play on one of those fields in little
leagu where you're like, wow, this field is only like
thirty feet to the fence. There's gonna be so many
home runs in this game.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
Then there were no home runs.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
Mike, you just wait till next segment. We got some
White Sox gold buddy.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Please, No, I don't even want to know. I think
I know what it is. I'm a little bit frightened
of what's coming from my baseball madness.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
But yeah, I mean, look, all three of those guys
have been fantastic. So do I think gets the nod
because he's hitting one about forty points higher and run
generation a bit more. But you know, it's hard for
me to argue against the fun start of Gunner Henderson,
especially when the Orioles are now relevant for the second
straight year. Yeah, and look, and the other thing is,

(05:56):
you know, the guy plays shortstop, so it's a little
it's a little bit different. As good as Sodo has
been in the outfield, Uh, the guy plays shortstop. Like
I said, the guy he's cal Ripken like he's he's
he's that kind of talent. He's a power hitter and
and and and you know doing that is a shortstop
is is kind of a rarity. And I'm telling you, man,
just watch out.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
I mean this this is gonna be some race. And
I love my.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
Pick, but man, I'll tell you watching Soto and Judge
carry the Yankees by themselves, I mean they're carrying the
Yankees even more than than than Betts and Freeman did
last year. You know, your top two guys in the
lineup last year, as good as they were, you still
had guy, You still had Will Smith hit right, you
still had some guys in the line. But this Yankee
lineup is, man, it's these two guys and then hey,
it's a it's a bit to get to the next

(06:38):
guy who's really good.

Speaker 4 (06:39):
It takes a little WHI yeah, but Gunner in Baltimore
is literally he who else is he playing with? Like
no nighbers?

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Yeah? Well no, you got some good play. You know,
Rushman's a really good player.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Look there at the top a while multiple.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
But they're young, right, so you know they're not the
household names just yet, doesn't.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
Rutchman's the name everybody, everybody knows, sure more and now
they're knowing Henderson.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
But he's not Stanton or Juan Soto.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
No, no, they Mike Stanton alone. He's not.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
And you know, look, if you get to the end
of the year and and it's all three of them
with similar stats and similar contributions, then I like Henderson
winning because there's gonna be some people that say it's Judge,
some people say it's Soto. I don't You're gonna suddenly
people say, oh, I'm overwhelmingly going for for Soto, or
you're gonna say, hey, how valuable were they? Because both
of them carried, you know, without one of them, the

(07:33):
Yankees are still pretty good. But boy, Henderson just stands
out on that Orioles team.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
So well, there's also Seth Lugo. He can be MVP.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Stop I say, we haven't had him been doing and
a half years. That met to a half years al MVP.
I do want to know for my my oriole fan
friends that are out there in the universe.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
Four Cedric Mullen's gonna start hitting again. But no, I
mean it's fun, right mount Castle was a guy that
came up with a lot of hype. Uh So they're
a fun young story to watch.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
As we go The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon
Live from the Tireck dot Com Studios and now look,
with a week to go between now and the NBA Finals,
I don't know why the w NBA doesn't have Caitlyn
Clark play every night? Right, we have no games Kitlyn
Clark every night right tonight tomorrow? I mean, come on,
what do you do it like, play tomorrow right Icago
doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
It should have play tonight.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
Should have played tonight, Tomorrow, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and
then you know, take Thursday off and then play Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
You know, anytime there's not an NBA game, Kitlyn Clark
should play. Tell me, I'm you're already basically doing that anyway,
jamming all these games at the beginning. But they started
saying games in eleven days. Come on, you know, that's

(08:41):
kind of where we've gotten. So tomorrow it's a noon
start I think noon Eastern time. So that's kind of
silly to knock that out.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
Question that is ESPN.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
Yeah, and yet all the games are on the w
NB app as long don't forget you can watch it. Well,
I mean their season pass I think was like thirty
five bucks, So if you really wanted to get on
board there you can. We still get a number of
games that end up being streamed on x so you
can go that that whole route as well.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
But you know, Angel Reese, you know in the last
game that five game streak of double digit scoring games ended,
because that became such a talking point along the way. Yeah,
because we're trying, we're moving the lines for all of
the rookies to find something. Yeah, the first one to
do this since and it's great, right, because it's good

(09:38):
talking points. It's good.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
It's good to keep pumping the league out there, no
question about it. But yeah, to your point, yeah, it's
that how many games can we get in before we
have to have the extended Olympic break? And for Caitlin Clark,
she's starting to get on a Draymond Green watch of
how how close can she get to a suspension here
with the number of technicals she's picked up. Well that's

(10:00):
the thing though, and that's the next part of this conversation,
is that she got a big t last night. You
probably saw the highlights last night and the loss of Seattle. Yes,
the losses are piling up for the fever again. Just
gotta wait for Paige Beckers next year. That Indiana's gonna
be great. Caitlyn Clark as as much as well as
she is playing now with her technical fouls that she

(10:22):
has gotten over the course of the first week and
a half, or we gonna in the first three plus
weeks of the season. It's her third technical foul in
the first nine games of her w NBA career. Okay,
and you saw last night the head coach got thrown
out because uh, Caitlin Clark was drawing at and got
technicals called against her. She talked after the game saying,

(10:44):
you know, I think I'm being hacked a little bit
here and and certainly you saw a couple of replays
of a.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Foul that was not called.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
And I would just want to say this, not that
that any player should get preferential treatment. However, it certainly
seems like Caitlin Clark has come into the w NBA
with a lot of backlash. And I understand if the
backlash is coming from current players who want to Hey,
you got to show us how good you are.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
I get it. Prove it on the court. I understand.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
I understand if the players are gonna be overly physical
with her. You think you're great, proven on the court,
been playing this league for a long time. I get
all of that. But boy, watching her play and seeing
and seeing the fouls, the numbers that that she puts up,
and seeing the calls that she's not getting, I really
would like there to be some kind of dive into
it and go, are the officials making her earn it

(11:34):
more than anybody else to? I mean really, because this
is this is not this is not how you'd expect
Caitlin Clark to struggle. With the number of fouls that
are being called on her, the number of technical fouls
she's being called for, and and and how she's being
officiated by the referees. That's a that's a big one,
two three whole punch right there that I go, Yeah,

(11:56):
that seems a little suspicious to me.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
I feel like I feel like the maybe the league
and the.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Referees are taking a little bit of okay, hey, welcome
to the WNBA Superstar when it's hey, no, I'm sorry.
For whatever reason, you don't like her. She's carrying the league.
She got us all on charter flights, She's bringing the
league all kinds of stuff. Other women are getting shoe
deals because of Kaitlyn Clark. We should be thanking her.
But again, we've talked about this part, but I really
would like to look into it to say, hey, is

(12:23):
or are the fouls? Is it an equal playing field
for Caitlin Clark when it comes to being officiated by
the WNBA.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
That's really what I want to see. Yeah, And that's
the curiosity, right With as much as we have watched,
and certainly there have been plenty of games on in
the background and highlights and everything through the years. As
we're you know, working together here at FSR, you know,
it's a different spotlight, right, It's a different focus of
attention and more play by play, minute by minute kind

(12:53):
of approach. Yeah, I think it would be kind of
interesting to see, you know, especially gets called for a
lot of reach in fire, So how how frequent are those? Right?
How much you got that? And certainly we talk on
the other side there. She's been vocal, her coach has
been vocal about it. When it comes to you know,
having to run through screens that may or may not

(13:15):
be illegal. Taking a little bit of a Finch's talk
from the tea wolves, how do you stop Luca? Well,
you know what all the illegal screens they run, so,
you know, talking points. But we'll see if there's any
substantive change. Yeah, I'd like like to see it.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
I'd like to see I'd like to see a little
bit of that, like some kind of deep dive and go, hey.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
Is she being officiated like everybody else?

Speaker 1 (13:38):

I'm Filip Mustering now, I'm Paton Oswald in that Parks
and Rex episode talking about Star Wars universes because I'm
trying to stall So things are bad for the White Sox.
How bad is it?

Speaker 3 (16:16):
No, things are bad for the Chicago White Sox. Would
you like me to give you a stat to clear it,
to really give it? Listen, listen.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
I don't think we need a stat There's only one
reason why the White Sox are are are so bad?

Speaker 3 (16:29):
Oh, you can boil it down to that. You don't
even want my stats, and there's only one.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
Okay, give me your status and I'll even simplify it
more for you.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
What's your skin? White Sox have lost nine straight thirteen
of their last fourteen. They're two and seventeen in series
openers and oho to nine in road series openers, five
and twenty two on the road.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
Yeah, yeah, no, it's not good, not great, Bob not
you know, you know who the team was to do
that before them.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
Don't say the.

Speaker 1 (16:56):
Mets, don't say, don't but no, but there's there's one reason. Look,
that's a lot of stuff there, but I can even
simplify at that for there's only one reason why the
White Sox are so bad.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
Okay, one reason. It's only one reason. One reason.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
There's only one reason why their run differential is one
hundred and thirty four.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
Okay, Can I take a guess?

Speaker 1 (17:15):
It's minus one hundred and three. It's twice as worse
as any other team in Major League. Baby, you have
gotta be kidding me. There's only one reason why, Frostburg.
Do you want to take a guess?

Speaker 3 (17:24):
Go ahead?

Speaker 4 (17:25):
What's that smell? Jason?

Speaker 1 (17:28):
The only reason the White Sox are this bad is
because they stink.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
They stink. That's all. That's all you need to know.
That's all you know. They I went into specifics for now,
that's all you don't need to know. He try to
warn you might stink.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
But yes, and again the minus one thirty four run
differential when the next worst team run differential wise in
Major League Baseball is the Rockies and that's only minus
seventy five. It's only minus.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
Really, is something specially mine? Is one thirty four?

Speaker 4 (18:06):
Do you know what sucks for you? When the laughing
at you?

Speaker 3 (18:09):
Buddy? Oh, well, you know what he needed it. He's
had a tough week.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
But isn't isn't minus isn't minus one thirty four the
total number of what the t Wolf starters were plus
minus wise last night.

Speaker 4 (18:19):
I think that's what Anthony Edwards was last night.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
In the first half.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
But White Sox announcers listen, they know the White Sox
are bad, but the one.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
Of them does in baseball, well at least one of
them does. And they know that.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
Hey, you know what, if you can't laugh, then what's
the problem? This is them following yet another bad White
Sox efforts.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
It feels like this run the Old Sox are on.
We're catching teams at the wrong top.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
Well, there's that a few other reasons, but that's certainly
one of them. Good for you, Stony, we're catching teams
at the wrong time, like when their schedule will to
play us.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
What the hell is Wow? That guy has been under
fire the entire season. He took over for Benetti, and
he has been absolutely excoriated a game after game.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
There's at least one or two sound bites where you go,
he knows he's broadcasting baseball, right, and look trying to
grow into that. That role is not easy, Uh, at
any team, but certainly when you stink to this level,
there there's no amount of selling or playing the babe
in the woods.

Speaker 5 (19:32):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (19:33):
Stone couldn't keep a straight face. It's thirty first.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
We're catching teams at the wrong time. Okay, go ahead,
let's hear it again.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
God, it feels like this run the Old Sox are on.
We're wrong catching teams at the wrong time.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
Well, there's that. There's a few other reasons, but that's
certainly one of them.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
Like, dude, what the hell have you been watching.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
All year this fifty eight game run the White Sox
have been. Yeah, it's it's really we're just at the
wrong time, you know. You know, what do you mean
by catch teams the wrong time? Every time I look
up we have a game scheduled. I mean like, we're
catching these teams at.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
The wrong time. The plans made it, made it into
the city, and the buses made it. Damn it, they
made it to the stadium again. It's just gold right there.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
Man, that's just absolutely yeah, we're catching teams at the
wrong time. Hey, if there were no game scheduled for
a while, I think we might be okay. But now,
you know, we keep having to play these pesky games
every day. Why do we gotta play every single name?

Speaker 3 (20:34):
Man? Come on, what's this going on here?

Speaker 1 (20:36):
Dad?

Speaker 3 (20:36):
Some other teams just play some other games, not have
to play us.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
Boy, we're really struggling with this.

Speaker 4 (20:41):
With that theory, the Dodgers.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
Just I'll tell you, Oh my goodness, that's up.

Speaker 3 (20:49):
That's just so great. That just a Yet, what are
we gonna do with this?

Speaker 1 (20:52):
I don't know, but uh, hey, uh people are gonna
watch this game.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
We gotta find a way to entertain him. Gotta find
a way. This is what of those if you were
working in a local market, like like say you worked
for the Score, you know other non white Sox rights holders.
Aren't you calling a Hey, you know what Friday night, honey,
we didn't really have anything planned except a quiet movie
night at home. I'm gonna go into the station and
give him an extra hour, like, oh, one of the

(21:18):
midday guys, I'm going in after that one. Are you
kidding me? I'm not waiting on Monday for that.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
That's tough.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
That's tough.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
I mean, listen, there's responsibility, and there's time with your family,
and then there's Hey, all hands on deck, man, this
is bad.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
This is bad.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
It feels like this run the old socks are on.

Speaker 3 (21:36):
We're catching teams at the wrong time.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
Hey, you look, look there are only ten games back
of the Mets and they've lost nine in a row.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
I mean, just you turning into a parody account as
a broadcaster. We're catching these teams at the.

Speaker 1 (21:49):
Catching them at the wrong time. Boy, wait to go
to broadcasting school. There money socks, yo, one guy. We
never catch at the wrong time, because if we do,
we just hey, I need a couple extra minutes for
my update. It's Steve Desager, who's got what's trending right
now in the wide world of sports.

Speaker 6 (22:06):
That's deep White Sox and Wrigley next week looking forward
to Cubs whitesick?

Speaker 4 (22:11):
Oh yeah, okay, what can.

Speaker 3 (22:14):
They just fight? Can we put up a steel cage
because both teams stak Yeah.

Speaker 6 (22:18):
Well, with John schifferin in the middle of it, I
think that's the only thing that would please White Sox.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
Fans right now. Probably the new announcer.

Speaker 6 (22:25):
Yes, Milwaukee beat the White Sox twelve five tonight is
Christian Yelich went five for six with five RBIs. Brewers
left sixteen men on base. This could have been worse.
The White Sox have lost nine in a row. They're
fifteen and forty three on the season. The Milwaukee offense
just caught the.

Speaker 4 (22:41):
Brewers at the wrong time.

Speaker 6 (22:42):
Man, you could say they cut the hitters at the
wrong time all night, because the offense for Milwaukee was
twenty three for forty five at the plate. They batted
over five hundred for an entire game in Milwaukee Tonight.
Six round in the bottom of the seventh allowed them
to take the lead. As for the three late games

(23:04):
in Seattle, Mariners have retaken the lead on the Angels
five to four bottom of the eighth. Angels had tied
it on a seventh inning grand slam from Joe Adel.
The Rockies are leading four to one and just now
went final at Dodger Stadium. They beaten LA by a
four to one final, the loss to Walker Buehler, who
pitched the first six innings, and it's the Yankees leading

(23:26):
six to two at San Francisco with two outs in
the top of the ninth. Right now, Aaron Judge with
two more home runs. He has twenty this season, fourteen
of him this month. He has a three run homer
and a solo shot. Yankee starting pitcher Marcus Stroman pitched
the first seven and a third innings. If New York wins,
the Yankees record will be forty and nineteen. Philadelphia is

(23:47):
now forty and eighteen. After a home win against Saint
Louis four to two, Cardinals offense with just three for
thirty against Aaron Nola in company. Nola seven and two
this season. Another win for Baltimore three to one over
two Tampa Bay, holding the Rays offense to five for
thirty at the plate, the same to Craig Kimbrel Orioles.
Pitchers John Means and Tyler Wells will each have season

(24:09):
inning elbow surgeries. Cleveland won again seven to one over
Washington as the Nats offense was four for thirty two.
Tanner byeb four and one got the win with seven
strikeouts pitching into the seventh inning. Victories for Boston and Cincinnati.
Wins for Miami, the Mets, and the Braves. San Diego
won at Kansas City eleven to eight. Now, guys, this

(24:30):
game was scoreless through five innings and it wound up
with nineteen total runs. According to the folks at Stats, Inc.
The last time a Major League game was scoreless through
five but still ended up with that many total runs
was in nineteen twenty nine. Padres won this game as
Luis Ariaz had his fourth four hit game as a Padre.
This month, San Diego scored nine times in the top

(24:52):
of the eighth Royals with five runs bottom of the ninth,
So eleven eight final for San Diego.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
Didn't he didn't The Padres have like nine singles in
a ten at batspan. In that I think they had
nine singles in ten at battle.

Speaker 6 (25:06):
And if Luisa Rias was involved, that would certainly be true.
I think he had two singles in that inning as
they scored.

Speaker 4 (25:12):
So this could be.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
His third straight batting title with three different teams, that's correct.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
I mean he could win every year. How did I
win a batting title? New team? With a batting title?
New team. Maybe we hold on to this guy, maybe
a lot.

Speaker 4 (25:24):
And they literally got him for a bag of balls.

Speaker 6 (25:26):
That's right, because Miami's paying for it. So he won
a batting title American League, it was an All Star
with the Twins, and a batting title in the National League,
was an All Star in the Marlins, gets traded to
San Diego and his is batting three forty two this
season the Padres, in fact, Padres fan when the trade happened,
said Luisa Rias, And I said, yeah, batting titles the

(25:46):
last two years, two different teams. He is, why did
they trade? Because it's the Marlins, that's really the answer.
There's your Jason Smith because they stink. Because it's the Marlins.

Speaker 1 (25:57):
He's been hitting four hundred since he joined the.

Speaker 6 (26:01):
Well, yeah, four weeks as a Padre and four to
four hit games. So enough said that, At what point
do they take the Tony Gwin stats you down and
put his u Ah?

Speaker 4 (26:09):
Don't you dare? Don't you dare?

Speaker 3 (26:12):
Wow?

Speaker 6 (26:12):
The other game haven't mentioned? Houston lost again. I know
that's great sadness for all Dodger fans listening. But Minnesota
beat Houston six to one. Renelle Blanco, who had been
five and zero, took the law. So this news from
the NBA. Sacramento King's negotiations have ended. They've given head
coach Mike Brown a new three year deal. He'll learned
reportedly eight and a half million dollars per year. Piston's

(26:33):
general manager, Troy Weaver was fired after Traje and Langdon
took over his team president. In the NHL, Edmonton's up
three games to two after winning three to one at
Dallas tonight. This is in the West Final. The East
Final continues tomorrow night, and the night's over for the
College Softball World Series. Alabama had eliminated Duke two to one,
and now Stanford has eliminated Oklahoma State surprisingly eight nothing.

(26:57):
Tomorrow it's number two Oklahoma against UCLA a number one
Texas versus Florida.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
Back to you, thank you very much, Steve O.

Speaker 1 (27:04):
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmon
live from the tairaq dot Com studios. All right, so
let let's let's think about this for a second. Here,
we know that Jerry Jones is the happiest guy in
the world right now because the Oilers won. Right, don't
have to sit here and hear about all the teams
except the Cowboys making it to the finals in their sport. Right,

(27:26):
we had the Rangers win the World Series, the Mavericks
are in the NBA Finals, and the Oilers are up
three to two over the Stars after their three to
one win tonight.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
Right, things down for a moment. Yeah, yeah, it's so okay.
This is how it goes all right? Great?

Speaker 1 (27:40):
Uh and now he's wearing a Conor McDavid jersey all
over out, so excited at we won. Less team embarrassed
in the Dallas Cowboys, and we joked around about, hey,
maybe Jerry Jones has a June surprise out there for
you know, like in politics it's the October surprise before
a presidential election. Shut the little He's got a June

(28:01):
surprise to get the attention away from the teams in
the finals, which would be the MAVs. And the Stars
and back on the Dallas Cowboys. Now you're ready for
what it could be.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
You're ready.

Speaker 1 (28:12):
I'm trying to read because I told you he's got
to get something going soon, because this could happen any day.
Now you got and you got to figure out how
to control the story. How do you get people talking
about the Cowboys. Just see that story yesterday with Mike
McCarthy saying that Trey Lance is close to mastering the
Cowboys offense. Yeah, that's the young Jedi. You will not

(28:34):
become picked third. Overall, you were field. You did not
see back up you are Uh he's not ready, So
he is he is. He is now close to mastering
the Cowboys offense. Now, this story works on two levels.
The level that it really works on is this is
yet another reminder to Dak Prescott. Dak, you don't get

(28:55):
us to the NFC Championship game, You're gone. Like like
we know that the Jerry Jones all means I could
have given Dak Prescott money.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
I'm not.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
And they will move on from Dak Prescott if they
do not get further in the playoffs. And that's what
it is. And and Jerry Jones has already moved on
from him. But if Dak does play well and the
Cowboys get far in the playoffs, sure Jerry Jones will
give him money. But this is where and the team stinks,
is gonna not be as good this year. So really,
are they gonna get to the NFC Championship game?

Speaker 3 (29:24):
No, they're not.

Speaker 1 (29:25):
But so that's where it works. It's just a reminder that, hey,
we got somebody else. Right, here's Trey Lance, who hasn't
seen the field since twenty seventeen, and yeah he's a
master of the off. Just let you know, Dak. Reminder,
we got a guy behind you. We're trying to push you.
We have Trey Lance on the roster just to make
you think, hey, if you don't really keep pushing yourself,
we got a guy that could take your job.

Speaker 3 (29:46):
But here's where it works.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
On a different level, these teams all make the finals
and Jerry Jones gets a question during his weekly appearance
on one oh four to three the Fan. Jerry, Hey,
we got the Rangers in the World Series and Luca
are in the finals. The Stars are in the finals. Yeah,
how do you feel about that? Is, you know, the
owner of the only team that is not made of
finals this year or you know, in twenty five.

Speaker 3 (30:11):
Years, And well, glad you asked that.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
And I just want to take this time say congratulations
to those teams. And I want to announce right now
that this summer it's gonna be an open competition between
Dak and Trey Lance for the starting quarterback job with
the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
Questions.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
I mean, there you go, there's your surprise. There's your
Cherry Jones June surprise. Now there's the realism. There's the
realistic thing of a we're the pressure on Tag Pretscott.
But boy, you know he's got something crazy planned because
I just don't want to be laughed at from the
entire month of June. While teams could be winning champ
what if they all win and it's the Rangers and

(30:51):
the Cars and the MAVs and now the Cowboys. I'm
telling you, if he comes out in the middle like
he would come out like with like five minutes to
go in the fourth quarter of the deciding game of
the NBA Finals ago.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
Hey just had to get over here on the ESPN.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
Just want to let you know, hey, it's a great
game here, but Dak and Tray are gonna battle it
out for the starting quarterback job, and Romo's coming back
to so just hey, congratulations and the good luck talking
about the NBA like.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
Like I could.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
I can see this craziness happening, Like, let's set it
up for that just in case I need it.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
If I really need something, I'll go to this.

Speaker 1 (31:24):
Do you think he made McCarthy say that, Hey, we
need to really sell the Lance kid. I want Dak
and his his agent and everybody to feel a little
bit of heat.

Speaker 3 (31:40):
Jerry, do you believe it? Jerry?

Speaker 1 (31:43):
I can't say you don't say it. I could call
Belichick right now, have him come and take the job.
You put that out there the tray that No, don't
say he's playing well, say that he could he could
take over. No, don't say no, say he could. He's
mastering the offense. That's not safe.

Speaker 3 (31:58):
That's ermology. And I do like you know Frostburg's idea
of now we make it a big Star Wars thing,
because then for Jerriot he comes back to merchandising.

Speaker 4 (32:07):
Tell me he's not the Emperor.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
Oh, absolutely, he's got a little Ian mcdermy.

Speaker 4 (32:13):
Doth is it? Stephen Jones, Steve Stephen's Uh's Darth helmet.

Speaker 1 (32:18):
Oh No. At this point, Dak Dak is is Darth
Vader Stephen Darley Hett Are you really? Are you really
my quarterback?

Speaker 3 (32:25):
Are you not?

Speaker 1 (32:25):
Are you gonna pick me up and throw me down
the shaft if it comes down to it, and then
go take money from the Vikings or somebody else.

Speaker 3 (32:32):
Dak, he won thirteen games three straight years, But I'm
not giving you an extension.

Speaker 4 (32:38):
Nom or pizza the hunt.

Speaker 3 (32:44):
What's your full name? Bar follow you? Are you getting
married today?

Speaker 1 (32:47):
No?

Speaker 3 (32:47):
Then get out of you.

Speaker 4 (32:48):
Jerry's gonna comb the desert.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
Yeah, man, we got the cowboys, cowboys, the flame thrower.
That's what we got right here. Look at this right
and just flame thrower. If you get upset with cowboy
is not winning, here's a flame throw you take it
to anywhere you want to just torch whenever you got
right here.

Speaker 3 (33:04):
I got a cowboys rage room ready to go if
you have the flame thrower right here. But I just
can't straight something.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
Hey, we preach competition here with the cowboys, and so
Dak and Trey are gonna have to battle it out
for us. And I mean we gotta we gotta make
this stars to the Stanley Cup Final happen.

Speaker 3 (33:26):
Man, we gotta make this apps start. He starts appearing
in all these people's homes via hologram. I got this
box and we got delivered. What the hell's happening?

Speaker 2 (33:38):
And they put it on.

Speaker 3 (33:39):
The table and they're staring at Nelson. There's a picture
of them.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
This is the latest technology here. This is the Cowboys Hologram.
You'll be able to buy this at Christmas and get
this to all your Cowboy fans. You can beat me
into any any home of an Eagles fan or a
Giants fans like.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
The Trading Guards and Harry Potter. He doesn't have time
to hang around.

Speaker 4 (34:00):
That's us playing you off.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
Exit out bout of Fresca, Exit Swollen Dove.

Speaker 1 (34:05):

for Mannegan two on the Move. Oh my god, it's
not even fair that I can hit the post time.
It's not even fair, man, It's not I mean, I'm
just oh man, everybody, don't we monetize that. Everybody's just

(34:49):
something they're great at.

Speaker 3 (34:50):
That's me.

Speaker 4 (34:51):
The Post just caught you at the wrong time, Jason.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
We keep catching these teams at the wrong time. The
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmon live
from the tire rack dot Com Studios. We got a
big well, you know, we're gonna predict the future in
the NBA over the course the next week coming up
in a few minutes.

Speaker 3 (35:10):
But big news today.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
The Mike Tyson Jake Paul fight we were supposed to
be getting coming up later on this summer now is off.
If you remember the other day, Mike Tyson had a
bit of a medical emergency on a flight. Turns out
he's okay, but his ulcer that he has had is
acted up and he was told by doctors after the
first visit said no, you're fine, you can still go fight.

(35:34):
The second visit, the follow up said, yeah, you can't.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
Really fight right now.

Speaker 1 (35:38):
It's gotta be you gotta be doing things really light
duty for a bit, then you can get back into training,
which means this fight is going to be is now
officially postponed. They're hoping to announce the new date on
June seventh, so they want to wait till next Friday
and announce the new date.

Speaker 3 (35:53):
That's a pretty big gap between now and then too,
you know, yeah, well before the originally scheduled.

Speaker 1 (35:58):
Yeah, well I think they want to wait and go, Okay,
let let's let Mike Tyson's ulcer heal and then see
when we think he can get back to it.

Speaker 3 (36:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
Well, And that's the thing is that I look at
this and I go, is this fight really gonna happen?

Speaker 3 (36:10):
Now?

Speaker 1 (36:11):
I mean, is it really gonna happen? Is the because
I'm always suspicious whenever there's something like this out there,
how big of a deal is it really? What are
the ticket sales really like for it? But not only
something like that, because look, now you're seeing all these
musical acts canceling concerts. You're wondering if you're selling tickets
or not. Is that really happening? But more so than that,

(36:33):
I see, Okay, here's Tyson. He's gonna be fifty eight
by the time this fight starts, right, he already has
an ulcer issue that's postponed it once. Jake Paul needs
to fight to stay relevant, right, Like, I mean, I
told you that this is not my cup of tea
this at all. I want to see Tyson win in
a walk, but he needs to be doing stuff. He
needs to do something. Is Tyson really gonna be able

(36:54):
to fight you know after this? I mean, you've had
this this medical issue that postpones it. Can you postpone
it again? I mean, I mean, it's not like people
are going crazy to see it. It was gonna be
a fight in the summertime, when hey, you had a
bit of an open sports landscape to say, all right, hey,
people will watch this fight. How much longer before you say, yeah,
maybe Jake Paul wants to move on?

Speaker 3 (37:16):
You can't.

Speaker 1 (37:17):
You can't count that Tyson's gonna be healthy enough just
because look, when you don't box when you're fifty eight,
there's a reason why these guys stop boxing when they're
thirty five.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
Tyson's twenty three.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
Years past that I would say right now, I would
say seventy five percent that we don't see this fight
just because of the combination of those things. But mainly
you look at the health of Tyson, it's is he
really gonna be able to do it? Is he really
able to walk in into the ring and do it?
Because he's gonna take some punches. The one thing we've
seen is, hey, Paul can fight a little bit. I mean,
now you're fighting the most dangerous boxer the last you know,

(37:47):
thirty years. But still he's fifty eight, so you know
he's gonna get hit. I just wonder if we're really
gonna see this fight, And if you had to ask
me right now, I'd say seventy five percent we don't
get the fight.

Speaker 3 (37:57):
I wouldn't go that far. A lot of money and
spent a lot of bars looking to make some money.
Like you do a quick search of tickets, pretty good
sell through rate at at and t right. We talk
about ty and Jerry Jones back into stuff as we
go through.

Speaker 1 (38:15):
But you know, there's there's so many dollars that flow
off it and whatever the rest of the card becomes
built around it exhibition and Mike Tyson at this point,
I think he's looking for a payday. So I don't
think it's gonna be anything he backs out of unless
Paul gets bored, because this has to get pushed too

(38:35):
far down the line. I mean, how many times do
people keep lining up for fights that they knew were
gonna suck? Floyd Mayweather's gonna dance for a couple of rounds. Ah,
you paid, you paid, paid per view time and time again.
He's never actually gonna throw a punch or get hit.
But I'm gonna pay for my paid per view, and

(38:55):
he's gonna win another.

Speaker 3 (38:56):
Fight, right. He's gonna do some jabs, he's gonn to
look good with his footwork, but there's really no imminent
danger Whereas here, even if Tyson's only got two rounds
in him, you know he's gonna throw some haymakers and
see if paulk in withstand him. So I don't know.

Speaker 1 (39:13):
I think there's just enough there for the thrill seeker,
but also for everybody's pocket that it doesn't go away
quite so easily.

Speaker 4 (39:20):
Mike Tyson's last knockout was in the Hangover.

Speaker 1 (39:24):
Oh that sounds elms ed Helms on the h on
the Phil Collins do.

Speaker 3 (39:30):
Do do do do? Do? Do do do?

Speaker 5 (39:33):
No?

Speaker 4 (39:34):
It was it wasn't Ed Elms. He didn't knock out
Ed Elms. He knocked out what's his face?

Speaker 3 (39:39):
Oh? Oh is that alifan atkis exactly? Yeah, I thought,
oh no, Ed Helms.

Speaker 1 (39:42):
Pulled his uh ull his tooth out with what's her name?
With uh uh?

Speaker 3 (39:48):
Roller?

Speaker 1 (39:48):
Heather Graham, Heather Graham, roller girl?

Speaker 3 (39:51):
Yeah, roller, Hey, rolling girl? How you doing?

Speaker 1 (39:55):
Yeah? How many do you think she gets that every day?

Speaker 3 (39:58):
But she walks that hey roller girl. Yeah, it's right.
I'd lean into it and rolled around on skates. How
you doing?

Speaker 6 (40:03):
You know?

Speaker 3 (40:03):
You know I was in Diggstown, you know. Okay, I
was in a lot of movies. I appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (40:08):
It's like me calling Gabe Gabe from the office.

Speaker 1 (40:11):
I was just telling I was just telling my daughter
that story the other day because we're binging the office
and I was like, yeah, wait'll I tell you a
story about when Gabe shows up on the office. And
Gabe showed up, I said, okay, here's what Frostburg did
at the Super Bowl a couple of years ago. He
really was a game but his name's not Gabe. No,
it's not Gabe. But he said, hey, Gabe, how you doing,

(40:32):
And the guy walked away from us.

Speaker 3 (40:34):
It wasn't happening. If you'd offering about beer, he would
have shown up.

Speaker 4 (40:38):
It would have cracked it over my head.

Speaker 3 (40:40):
Coming up next big story
