Speaker 1 (00:48):
Just so you know, at some point tonight, a couple
of times, we're gonna have to play the Darren Waller song.
I mean, like the guy retire. We're never gonna to
play it again. We got it, we know, we gotta
play the Kelsey Plum song.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
We have to. I mean, this is it, this is it. No, No,
we got to. I got to make dal all the
times well because I was thinking about the you know
my line in the upper you know where I kind
of sound a little despondent of well, they do the
best they can. Is that kind of the the Darren
Waller retirement, No, he had a good run. White Sox
are up to nothing. As Steve gave us in the update,

(01:21):
Lewis Robert who was traded to the Phillies earlier today,
somehow in the lineup for that two run over happens
that way. Crazy. We need some time to heal, you know,
we need some time to heal. We all need.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
Everybody does the fact that you Jason Smith think Alex
knows who Darren Waller is.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Oh, he just probably thinks it's some new band like oh,
like you know Boyzone or you know, and sink, Oh,
he probably it's a new band.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Walls, Yeah, the Darren Wallers.

Speaker 5 (01:49):
No, it sounds like a landscaping guy.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
It is garbage, like, who's doing your landscaping? Darren Waller? Well,
he does have some free time, though he's no longer a.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
Time remodel on the house. Who did the Dre Waller?

Speaker 3 (02:03):
Now I gotta find other Darren Wallers in the Walls.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Are all silver and black Boy Okay, no giants, colors,
No man, that was an awful year. No, no, no, kay,
he wants to forget that one. All right, that's what
the uh so, Yeah, we will have to take some
time to heal at some point later on in the show, Frostburg,
we have to.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
If we can't take time to heal, now, when can
we heal?

Speaker 1 (02:27):
We're never gonna get to Let's be about inclusivity and positivity.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Let's let's all of us take time to heal and hear.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
There there's a better chance that Dan Hurley coaches the Lakers.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Could it also be a time for a cool change
with a little river bands? Yeah, let's go. No, Frostburg,
there's a better chance you get Elizabeth Hurley to coach
the Lakers. And now, hey, who wouldn't want that? Oh?

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Hey, happy birthday Elizabeth Hurley, her birthday to the Happy
birthday Elizabeth.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
How great is that? I mean, not think about it,
I mean I celebrated her birthday without knowing it earlier.
Oh that sounds creepy, No, no, a little bit. Yeah,
Justin Justin sent the hey here, it's gonna be a
big day with Hurley. And then twenty minutes later.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
Yeah, don doesn't mean I was thinking about it.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Look, Danny Hurley staying at Yukon and not going to
the Lakers. Right, that's the big story of the day
and is a shocker because it seemed like it was
a done deal. The Lakers had their guy, We're gonna
give him a lot of money, and Danny Hurley says, nope,
I don't want to go.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
To the Lakers.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
I want to stay at Connecticut. Now, last hour we
talked about Hurley. Look how embarrassing it is for the
Lakers because it is incredibly embarrassing they don't get him.
And secondly, I don't know that he ever really wanted
to take the job, Like how much did he just
used the Lakers as leverage? I had a free weekend
in La. I use the Lakers as leverage. And now
the governor of Connecticut is saying that we're gonna make him.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
The highest paid coach in all of college basketball.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
So yeah, he used the Lakers as leverage, which tells
you where the brand of the Lakers is at.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
And if you're looking.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
At what you know what happens now for the Lakers right,
think about this with Lebron and everything else. There's good
news and bad news, okay for the Lakers, and the
good news isn't really what you.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Think it is.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
But let's do the bad I always do the bad
news first. Whenever someone's you want good I always give
me the bad news first, and give me the good news,
give me the bad news. Although my dad would say
I always get the good news first. Why well, if
something happens and I die, at least then I get
the good news. I don't get the bad news.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
I'm like, wow, Okay, I never thought about That's that's
an interesting perspective on life. That's my dad's thing.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Uh, here's the bad news is where do you go?

Speaker 3 (04:31):
Now?

Speaker 6 (04:32):
Like?

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Who else is gonna say yes, I want this job
unless it's someone who is just desperate because your guy
turns you down. JJ Reddick was the media front runner,
and that's a big deal in JJ Reddick's world.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Right, I'm the media front runner and now I am not.
Where do you go?

Speaker 1 (04:48):
I mean you're gonna have to go and get another
Darvin Ham type person who's just gonna come in and okay,
be a guy that you're hoping can can lead the Lakers,
like you put all your eggs in this bad We
heard nobody.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
We heard nothing about Danny Hurley's dame.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
We heard the Lakers interview with James Barrego, We heard
about the the interest level in JJ Reddick, which when
we talked to Dan Woiki, Lakers insider last week, said yeah,
I think that was more conversation outside the room of
decision makers.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
So okay, so that's good.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
But the one name we've heard for the Laker, the
only name we've gotten from the Lakers. Right we are
preparing a big offer, this is a big deal. The
only name we've got late Lakers did not refuse anything else.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
They talked to him.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
Only name we got was Danny Hurley and he said no.
And he said no, I mean, where do you go?
Who else wants this job? The Laker brand is at
an all time low right now. You can't get someone
to come in and say, hey, I can maybe win
a championship with Lebron and a D. No, you're getting
a guy saying hey, I'd rather go back to Connecticut
and try to win a third championship with all my
guys gone, bringing in all new players. Although Alex Caravan

(05:52):
went back bringing all new players to go for a
third championship. Then take over, take eleven or twelve million
dollars a year and go coach lost Angels Lakers like
this a the Lakers brand is in the toilet right now, man,
I mean, this is this is just so bad from
so many ways that they biffed getting the guy they said,
this is who I wanted. I mean, where do you
go from here? I mean, where can you go and say, oh, yeah,

(06:15):
here's the guy we want. Oh, it's good that we
got him all along.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
No you can't.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
You can't sing that song to me and say, oh, hey, well,
it's good that Danny Hurley said no because now we
didn't know. We could have gone out and got Talk
Rivers again.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Hey look we got talk man.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Man, No, no, no, there's there's nowhere to go that
you can save face if you are the Lakers, and.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
That that is that's that's the be's the bad news part.
You wait for the good news, you got to go,
But there's the bad news part of it. There is
nowhere for you to go. Well, and that's the thing,
right is, if this truly was and they haven't refuted
it was the guy you targeted all along, it was
all a slow play and only a few people evidently
knew it, because otherwise it would leak. Right, too many

(06:53):
people know something. We eventually started getting cracks until friend
of the family, family historian Whoa suddenly comes out with it.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
I'm writing the story at the Hurley. It's like, he's like,
you're doing Game of Thrones with the Hurleyes. We're going
back to the sixteen hundred when they first wrote on dragons,
and now here's.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Danny Hurley coaching. We're gonna all the way up.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
We have the prequel out of the Hurley it's coming
out later on this summer.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
A season with coach Bob Hurley in Basketball's Most Improbable Dynasty,
written Adrian and Wojnarowski. So it's there, right, he's there.
He's the guy that suddenly has the Oh, by the way,
Hurley's the guy that want it all along. Yeah, there's
nothing there at all, kind of like when we get
the reports from Shams and all the betting odds go

(07:39):
crazy and he's got to deal with fan duel. But
you know it is. It's an insiders world, but it's
for the Lakers. What did you hear today? All of
a sudden, Hey, Jay Wright might want to coach again?
Oh sure, really really out of the blue, out of
no where. It's like, well, that college guy didn't want us,

(08:00):
so let's throw this name into the hopper and see
how folks feel. Right.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
We also had any names out there as possible to
make it seem like people really wanted.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
But remember what the Reddick thing? What did we get
a sudden list of like fifteen guys that were being
considered as All star assistants. Sam Cassell, who's two wins
away from a Title's like what that, I'm not doing it?
I mean that's the guy you probably should just go
and throw a giant file of money at it.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
This point is this is like in the office when
when Michael Scott wanted to make make sure people didn't
think that Stanley was having an affair. So we started
rumors about everybody and everybody else. Maybe people won't understand,
they won't they won't know what the.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
Real rumor is, subterfuge, which one is the real one?

Speaker 1 (08:46):
Yeah, we're gonna put all these names out there. People
are not understand.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
But literally, with the Reddick thing, that's all you heard
was all right, he'll be the head guy. And look
at this all star lineup of head coach would be assistance,
all of whom would be stereo the show. Because then
we had that a few years ago, wasn't it That
was Jason Kidd, right, that was sitting staring over the show.
It's like he's got a stage of kods. Some point
it's gonna be bad. But you know, you have all

(09:10):
these guys, and there's been the report that you know,
Anthony Davis Barrego was his choice the whole time. Uh,
and behind the scenes that's who he's pushing for. So
you get a little bit maybe of unrest and dissent
from what Lebron and Clutch, even though they're not involved,
from what they might want in a future coach. So yeah,

(09:31):
now you're at the next turn, shrugging your shoulders, going
all right, what what's the next name to suddenly be
thrown into the hopper. It's like when you start looking
at political campaigns and where we are, what we are.
I'm not making it political, but just the for the
example of when people float up locally or on a
national level of hey, this person might be the candidate.

(09:52):
Oftentimes it's all right, let's throw that balloon up and
see how people feel. I feel like we're like that
with the the Lakers coaching job at this point. Let's
see how the public response to reports that this guy
might become the next coach. Are they happy? Are they sad?
Are they outraged?

Speaker 6 (10:08):
How quickly do wiki Plashki and other writers get to
their computers to put out a column on it, and
you know, get the pulse of the city.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
I think that's where we're at in this process. Well, now,
so here's the good news, all right, now here, here's
what you got good news off for this. Here's the thing.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
Okay, it's not really good news, but it's not. It's
not the good there's no that's actually no good news.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
I live. Is it that George carl just tweeted out
that he wants the job? No?

Speaker 1 (10:35):
No, nurse no, And I'm not going to tell you
there's there's no you know, there's no good now I
was live.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
No, no, no. The good news.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
The good news is it really doesn't matter. Okay, the
Lakers are not going to be able to start over
with a new head coach and put in whatever they
want to imprint on the franchise until after Lebron leaves,
because the next head whoever it is coming in, whether
it's JJ Reddick and the Lebron would listen it, JJ
rid These guys do podcasts together. He's not gonna listen

(11:02):
to anything JJ Reddick has to say. It's irrelevant. It
doesn't matter. The Lakers aren't going to follow their new
head coach. Lebron and Ad are gonna do whatever the
hell they want to because it's what they've been doing
the last three or four years. They've been playing GM.
It hasn't worked right. They were hoping they would stay healthy,
it hasn't worked right. It doesn't matter the Lebron era.
They're going to be just who they are right what

(11:25):
they've been in the last couple of years, a team
that gives you glimpses once in a while but is
not as complete as other teams in the West. And
Lebron and Ad clearly do their own thing. There's no togetherness,
there's no hey, we're all one. Piston firing is one
to go win. Get No, that's not who we are.
The next chance for change will be after Lebron leaves.
That's they'll be able to say, Okay, now we go

(11:46):
get our head coach, and now we bring him in
and now he's the guy that's going to bring in
a new culture that we signed for the next five
or seven years. That's why Hurley would have been a
great choice, because he would have come in saying, Okay,
this is my team and this is the I'm set
up now for the end of the Lebron era and
then into whatever era is next when we go get
our next superstar, whoever it winds up being, and I

(12:06):
can put my will on the team. And it almost
looks like what the Miami Heat did with Eric Spolstra,
what the Lakers did with pat Riley long time ago,
what Phil Jackson was able to do with the Bulls
and the Lakers. Hey, it lets me come in and
be hero launch and that's why he made sense, right.
But that's not gonna happen until after Lebron leaves. I
mean it's clear that that's that where it is.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
So really who the Lakers head coaches, it makes no difference.
They'll finish sixth or seventh. They'll seem like a team
that can win. They'll do they'll do okay enough in
the first round, depending on who they play, and then
they'll be they'll be too old and too worn down
in the second round playing a younger team, and that's it,
and and that's what's gonna happen to the Lakers, So
it really doesn't matter who they wind up getting their

(12:46):
head coach. I told you it's not great news, but
it's kind of good news, and that Okay, it really
doesn't matter in the long run because you know you're
still gonna be mediocre. See, you just channeled the rock
the whole way I did.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
What did you say your name was?

Speaker 3 (12:58):
It doesn't matter what your name is. Sure it's guide
an empty suit.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
Oh boy, exit? How about a Fresca exit swollen dome.
The Jason Smith Show is my best friend Mike Carmon
live from the tire Reck dot Com studios phone number
eight seven seven ninety nine O Fox eight seven seven
nine ninety six sixty three six nine. We'll have more
in the Lakers getting turned down by Danny Hurley. But
straight ahead, boy, do we have to talk about something

(13:23):
that happened one of the biggest insiders of all of
sports earlier today. That's coming up next right here, Jason
and Mike, this is Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 7 (13:43):
Hey, we're Cavino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day

never have enough time to get to everything we want
to get.

Speaker 5 (13:52):
To and that's why we have a brand new podcast
called over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun
in our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy will be over promised in things we
never have time for.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
Yeah, you blubber list en me. Well, you know what
it's called over promise.

Speaker 7 (14:08):
You should be good at it because you've been over
promising women for years.

Speaker 5 (14:11):
Well, it's a Covino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk
life and relationships. And if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time, it will
continue on our after show called over Promised.

Speaker 7 (14:24):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make
sure you check out over Promised and also uncensored, by
the way, So maybe we'll go at it even a
little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast
of all time.

Speaker 5 (14:35):
There you go, over promising. Remember you could see on YouTube,
but definitely join us. Listen over promised with Covino and
rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you
get your podcasts.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
This is not Darren Waller. This is not Darren Waller
taking time. It's not Darren Waller.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
No, I think it is.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
This is Sugar Ray.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
No, I look this up.

Speaker 4 (14:55):
He's got time to George miss Wilmer in the first
Scooby Doo.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
Movie, The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon,
Live from the tyrock dot Com.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
Sugar Ray Waller.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
Yeah, what a great movie that is too? Which one
Scooby Doo? Oh?

Speaker 1 (15:12):
I'm sitting there going Sugar Ray was a movie? It
was a movie, Sugar Ray Robinson?

Speaker 3 (15:17):
Did they really? Or former knit Guard Sugar Ray Richardson?
They made a movie. But I didn't thought that would
be something.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
But what's his name? Was in a movie? He's in
a Billy Crystal movie? Right, Mark McGrath. Wasn't he in
a Billy Crystal's spin in.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
A Lot of stuff?

Speaker 4 (15:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (15:28):
Yeah, he was on Las Vegas singing to James Cohn
for crime.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
Oh, he had a show on I know if it's
still on. He had a show on satellite, and you
could tell that he felt like he went to broadcasting
school because every time he talked, he talked like this.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
So this is a song that came out in nineteen
ninety s. Man, you do enough of those VH one
shows like he did, used to being asked to comment
on best songs, one hit, Wonders, et cetera. Man, you
probably get that cadence down.

Speaker 4 (15:59):
He's also in every Nado God that is true.

Speaker 3 (16:02):
Everyone, Oh, I didn't know that. Okay, he was in
a couple of them. I'm sure I was in Shark
Nato one through four. Like this.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
That's how people talk who don't go to broadcasting school,
but think that this is what they teach you. That
I don't talk to talk in a regular cadence, that
I'm gonna have my voice go on and then finish low.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
That's what I'm saying. Ahi. And here's another song.

Speaker 1 (16:22):
Third Eye Blind hit it big in nineteen ninety five
with this one.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
What is this movie?

Speaker 3 (16:27):
Phone? Why don't you just tell me the name of
the movie. You'd like you've selected Furiosa. It is no
longer in theaters. Thank you for your call. Goodbye. No, listen,
you went and saw it, you tried to keep it
in theaters.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
Let me tell you real quick on Furiosa. Okay, I'll
tell you this since it's a honest truth about Furiosa.
So I saw it this weekend by myself. Right, I
went by myself late night of a Saturday. It was like,
oh my god, this is you get called Zoe went out,
Pam had book club. I'm like, I'm going to the mood.
I'm going to see Furiosa. Friosa was really good. Right,
if you like Fury Road, you'll like this. On tailor Joy,

(17:00):
I enjoyed her immensely, Like I.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
Thought she was fantastic.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
Right, Chris Hemsworth was awful, Like, this is why the movie.
I'm telling you, this is why the movie is not
doing well because he is an absolute clown in this movie.
He's supposed to be the bad guy and he's not
intimidating enough. He's not funny enough, he's not strange enough,
he's not unpredictable enough.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
He's just a clown.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
And the whole time I'm watching going He's gonna get better,
isn't he? I mean, he's gonna get better. This is
gonna I really.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
But I didn't care to And not only that, they
don't let him do anything, like like this is a
movie about driving, about driving, and there's all kinds of
fights going and he's like the He's like the I'm
the I'm the Emperor and I show up at the
Cherriot and everybody else kind of fights. I'm like, how
do you have Chris Hemsworth in a movie and you
don't let him do anything? But because you can only
fight in movie. I didn't even want him in the movie.

(17:52):
He was so bad.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
I'm like, I feel like this is if you looked
at the acting jobs he has done in his career,
like this was at the bottom because he really just
because this is a movie where you need a good villain, right,
you need a good and any move hear movie you
need a good villains. Why the Avenger's done so well?
But he was so awful. It's like I don't know
what they were going for with the character. And the
whole time saying to myself, this is a guy that

(18:14):
that you know, thousands of people are following this cult
leader that everybody is following.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
This guy really like really this guy. It was. I'm like,
I don't know what they were going for. I have
to go and watch it so I can see that
the development of that character. My younger daughter tells me,
I could be really good in that kind of role.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
Oh, you didn't put you on stilts because you know
you need somebody bit they did to put you on stilts,
You'd have been pretty good.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
I'd have gone.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
For you in this Oh when I'm stilt, Yeah, I mean,
well you gotta be. I mean, you know you're you know,
you're five to seven five.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
So okay, well you know what, you beat a big
imposing villain to be told. So you shoot the camera
up at me like I'm cruiser dance. Okay, so he
does for force perspective, all right, we'll shoot you with
Fort's perspective. That's how it's kill.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
The penguin wasn't a villain.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Exactly, Danny DeVito classic.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
Yeah, well, well who was the other villain in the movie,
Mister Freeze, Arnold Schwarzenegger. That's why they had Well you
got to have both of them in the movie.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
Okay, so we're gonna do can't just have Danny DeVito. Okay,
that's fine, but Danny, you're thinking of Batman too. That
was Catwoman man. Come on, Michelle f.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
Oh sorry, Michelle Fighter, Sorry sorry, that was Batman and Robin.
I was thinking, Yeah, I blocked I blocked most of
Batman and Robin out of my Why it's funny, it's good.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
No, it's not funny at all. No, it's terrible. It's dude,
you're Batman, a franchise. George Cooney single handedly killed the franchise. Man.
Come on, dude, you leave the cloone Dog alone.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
But I'm telling you, it's like, I don't know if
it was like one of those funny scenes that you
would get in movies sometimes where an actor goes really
over the top and and and you see, oh, this
is what acting is like in real life. But like
I'm picturing him going into George Miller's office going all right,
this is how I want to play the character, and
he's like yeah, sure. And then at some point he
had to say, this is just not working. What what

(19:59):
what's going I got a talk to Chris Emsworth man,
it's just not working. Really, that's got that that that's
why because it was that's I guarantee that's everybody thought, Hey,
action is great, she's great, story is pretty good, and
he's just terrible. I mean it's I really I was
stunned that that's how that that's how bad.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
It's funny I saw him holding a cake and talking
about how they were at the ninetieth percentile for audience
and critic responses. Yeah, that's why. I suppose that's why
I got pulled out of like eight hundred theaters in
the last couple of days. And it may be gone
from theaters in the next like two days. It may
be gone from theaters, from every theater. Yeah, it's it's
got nine on rotten tomatoes. I'm telling you. It was good.

(20:40):
It was good, and she was good. Action was good,
but you hate it was terrible. No, And I like him.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
I think, you know, maybe it's just he can do
one thing really well, because there's actors that have made
a crowd doing one thing really well.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
Right, I get that, and maybe that's what he can do.
But this was like, I don't know if you felt
like he was stretching his legs and I'm like, this
is this is just not good. He's just not good, Mike,
take his word for it.

Speaker 4 (21:02):
Nobody knows about it. Entertainment like Jason Smith.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
Telling you, man, hey, when a mention jets fan of
telling that something's bad, you gotta understand that's how bad
it was.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
Watch a lot of bad stuff. Man, christ Emsworth, Dude,
you got to look in the mirror. Man, this is awful.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
Uh now, let's get into what happened today on social
media because we kind of have to. Uh, Buster only
you know who he is one of the great baseball
analysts and insiders of the past twenty five years. In fact,
I remember when I was at ESPN, they did a
big the best thing ESPN they did focus groups all
the time, right, they would just kill themselves with focus groups.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
Were like, we don't really care.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
But the best thing they did focus groups They said, Hey,
we did a focus group, like really intense of who
the best analysts are that when they talk on ESPN,
people pay attention. And I was like, oh, and here's
how bad my boss was at ESPN that time. Hey,
get me that list so those people we can we
can look at the book. Guests think I ever got
that list? I mean, real, you can't get me the

(21:59):
list of the best guess that people want it really
you can't get I really, I mean you wonder why? Right, So,
And at the top of that list, the top three names,
or the top two names were Tim Kirkchin and Buster Oni.
I mean, nobody listened to more people than Tim Kirkchin.
Now I'm going back a bit for Kirchin, but Busteronli
he was the baseball guy, right And then today to

(22:20):
see his Twitter account hacked the way it was, it
was like something out of Catch Me if you can.
Whoever it was hacks his Twitter account, He's putting out
funny messages like I hate Mets. Then he puts out
that Otani's been banned from baseball. Then he puts out
the Mets have traded Francisco Lindor to the A's. Then
he puts out, hey, I don't want to go to prison,

(22:41):
should I? And he puts out a poll saying, hey,
should I vote to give this account back to the
person who has it?

Speaker 3 (22:46):
Should I not? I mean, I'm watching this unfold and
I'm like, oh my god, it's still going on. Whoever
has hacked Busterolie's.

Speaker 1 (22:53):
Account is still going and there's millions of retweets on
those people are thinking, oh my god, the Mets traded Lindor.

Speaker 3 (22:58):
Which really it wouldn't be the worst thing.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
You know, Otani's been banned from baseball for life, and
I'm just watching this on fold, going, They're gonna get
this guy right like like they're gonna get like I'm
watching to go. I'm thinking, like the Tom Hanks from
Catch Me If you can, Frank, we got twenty I
got I got twenty guys out here.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
Frank, you're not making it out here. Hey, is Ken
Rosenthal out there? I got Rosenthal out here, I got
Jason Stark, I got them all out here. What at
Cabins his Gammon's out there? Look at my accent, Frank Corts.
I got Gammon's out here. I got Harold Reynolds. I
got all kinds of guys. Come on out, give up,
give up the account, and we'll see what we can do. No, no, no,
I'm not coming out. I'm not coming out like.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
I'm waiting for them to say there's some kind of
finality where oh they got me. The cops are busting
in because at one point he said, I blocked the FBI, Like,
what the hell is happening on this Twitter account and
then about an hour after it happens, it's all gone
like he was never there. All the tweets were deleted.
Buster only had back the control of his account, and

(23:56):
it was it was it was usual suspects where and there,
here's goes concerts. He disappears into the wind like the
guy was there and causes all this havoc and craziness
for a couple of hours and then boom, he's gone
like he was never there.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
That was it was amazing couple of hours. Wait to go,
hand Raddie, what's that justin?

Speaker 4 (24:15):
He left out his Mother's Day tweet?

Speaker 3 (24:18):
Oh? Did I miss a Mother's Day tweet?

Speaker 4 (24:21):
Oh? We can't repeat it.

Speaker 1 (24:22):
Oh I know what you're saying. Not a Mother's Day tweet. Yes,
I know what you're saying. Yes, I left that one
out there because I want I want.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
To keep parting. But I mean, folks started running with
the trades like wow that What did Lindor do Like
two weeks ago, was he was calling a meeting. He
was a guy that was like being a leader for
the squad. They win a couple of games. Now obviously
your trading for exactly said it to the A's like,
what the hell? And then Lewis Robert of the White

(24:52):
Sox getting sent to the Phillies was kind of interesting.
I mean, this comes on the heels of your owner
over the weekend said he liked the food in London
better than New York.

Speaker 6 (25:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (25:01):
Yeah, it's a hot to hot take for Steve cohena
wait to uh way to really enjoy yourself a man
of the people.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Well yeah, maybe maybe maybe the MLB wants to move
the Mets to London and it'll be like she peas.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
Yeah, that gets you over and some rewarmed under a
hot lamp, meat that's been sitting there. Whenever you walk
into a pump. I'll prepare you, Smith, because you go
to London about a week after I do. I'll take
sure to give you a couple of hot spots because
we're already starting to plan the plan the journey. I
want to take the Steve Cohen walking tour of uh.

(25:34):
Thank you very much. I appreciate that. But yeah, this
was This was pretty incredible because it went on for
a good half hour plus of just a barrage of tweets.
But the I hate the Mets really, uh, I hate
Mets like I hate why do the Mets have to
catch strays on this?

Speaker 1 (25:50):
So you two tweets about the Mets right to the
Lindor trade, which I mean would so get the A's
would get that, and and then the I Hate Mets.

Speaker 4 (25:58):
I'm like, wait, you know, come on, Stent And he
said that when he was him, I sud behind it
that was actually Buster only?

Speaker 3 (26:07):
That was no, I got my hailp really Magic Johnson
or not?

Speaker 4 (26:12):
I hate.

Speaker 3 (26:15):
Time for the Buster only Twitter game? Oh? Did Buster
only tweet this or not? Or was it during the
hacking time? Oh?

Speaker 1 (26:25):
I mean, I it was just insane, and it's kind
of scary in that you know that Buster one and
ESPN whoever else was trying at some point some kind
of effort to saying where is this coming from?

Speaker 3 (26:39):
How do we track this guy down?

Speaker 1 (26:40):
How do we not or or woman whoever was and
this and this this hacker is having the best time. Hey,
I'm gonna put a poll out in the field. At
one time he tried to do the PlayStation selling thing.
You got a friend of mine selling a PS five
for three hundred.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
I mean, that's good comedy right there. I only got
five left.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
Oh my goodness, it's insane and I'm gonna sit.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
Here going at some point like he's just the guy,
and he's like the bad guy in the movie that's
having a great time. Watch would I do now? Right?
The hacker? Watch what I do now? Watch would I
do now? Why should I disay? Well, the government? What
should I do here?

Speaker 1 (27:14):
That the fact that it's going on for so long
and and ESPN couldn't lock his account, Buster only couldn't
lock his account.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
Whatever was not Like it's kind of scary to think that, Hey.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
You know, if someone you know, computer wise, that happens, Like,
you know, how how powerless and helpless can you be
at times when this guy has this account for whoever
long he had it, and I'm tweeting out all kinds
of crazy stuff on it, no one can stop me.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
And then he so yours becomes a Yankee account.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
Yeah, and it's not like he tweets out all they're
out the door, they're busting in goodbye. No, like it
was gone and it was deleted Andy, and it was
like he was never there.

Speaker 4 (27:47):
You're missing the best part of the I hate and
the Matt's tweet.

Speaker 3 (27:50):
Is there a best part of It's a pretty simple tweet.

Speaker 4 (27:53):
It was actually a request by somebody for him to
put that out there. If somebody said it, can you
just tweet I hate the Mets. Thanks, and he said,
of course, and then he did it.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
Well sure so he so he's talking to Steve Cohen.
All right, that's good. We know that. Then at least
that way we saw Cohen, We saw that little bit
of it. I mean, I I I really, you know.

Speaker 1 (28:14):
We talked to Jason locking For earlier in the show
and he said, I can't believe that that ESPN didn't
step up or say or do anything and say, hey,
we're gonna we're gonna take care of Buster here and
this is not something that we like or condone or
and there was, you know, and they didn't. Really it
was like, hey, nothing we can do, all right, Buster,
Hey whatever, Hey, hey Buster, think about it this way.
You're gonna go viral. Everybody's gonna love your tweets. What

(28:36):
are you worried about whether you tell it or not,
it doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (28:39):
And everybody started thinking about Buster oldie for a while,
a Buster only.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
Frostburg gear screwed man. Oh Tani is suspended for life,
ban for life. That's a big deal. I mean you're done, man, Yeah,
I like my news better. Hey we got out from
under Lindor's contract.

Speaker 3 (28:57):
Hey, that's awesome. Man. We're rebuilding. We're gonna assigned new
superstars after this year is over. Helonzo is gonna be
a cub. I mean, all of this stuff's karten. And
that was not a Buster Only don't know. Hey, someone
took that bad Lindor contract. That now we've slow him
for ten more years and he's thirty years old. All right, man,
that's cool. He'll enjoy Sacramento next year. No, that was

(29:18):
something I was like, hey.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
All right, if he got back control of his account,
put that out there, all right. I wouldn't say I
was so upset about that. If that actually had happened,
I wouldn't be. I don't know that I'd be going crazy,
but it wouldn't be that upset about it.

Speaker 3 (29:33):
Like I guess maybe that's why he.

Speaker 4 (29:35):
Had to set still. Just we understand it right away
when somebody says hack, we believe them, Like, why do
we believe them?

Speaker 1 (29:42):
Well, I don't think buster Buster Only's not gonna ruin
his reputation.

Speaker 3 (29:46):
Maybe maybe he just decided he was done with it.

Speaker 1 (29:49):
They just said screw it? Man, what would I do
on social media? And then I'll just say I'm hacked.
It's a big social experience.

Speaker 3 (29:55):
We all have a bad day. Yeah, No, that's true.
That's true.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
You do have a bad That's a really bad couple
of hours though. Man, Like that's a.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
That's a that's a lot of stuff. Yeah, what's happening? Man?
How mad are you? How mad are you with the
Mets and the A's and the Dodgers? Right? Like those
are the teams? I am so mad?

Speaker 4 (30:11):
How does a tweet the Lakers should have put out today?

Speaker 3 (30:14):
Ooh boy? You know? Fake? Fake? Hey, we never talked
to We never talked to Danny Hurley. I mean we
had we had no Ideanny of this was going on.

Speaker 1 (30:25):
The thing is is that Rob Polinka ran into Bobby Hurley,
uh this weekend, and people thought it was Danny Hurley.
There was no no offer was ever put out there.
Now we're still looking for a coach. If you know anybody,
call us. We're still looking.

Speaker 4 (30:37):
It was actually just a guy named Bob at Hurley.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
No, I was actually buying I was buying something from Hurley.
It's buying a Hurley tak top or shorts or swim trucks,
and it was actually what it was. And the guys
who was selling it to me his name was Danny,
so it was Danny from Hurley and that's where people
thought everything crazy. There you go, there's a tweet right
there that'll work if you could sell that to your fans.

Speaker 3 (31:02):
So they'll buy that in a second, Are you kidding?

Speaker 6 (31:05):
Ah?

Speaker 3 (31:05):
Though, they will all buy that. The Jason Smith Show
with My best friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
Coming up next, the biggest story in basketball the last
couple of days. Do I have a conspiracy theory for
you that you're gonna go?

Speaker 3 (31:18):
Wait? All that makes a lot of sense. That's next
right here, Jason and Mike Fox.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (31:38):
Harm how about I hit you with a Caitlin Clark
conspiracy theory? Ready for this? All? Right? Think about that.
I fear I know where you're gonna go.

Speaker 1 (31:48):
So let's go think about this. Okay, obviously know what
gets hit? Just oh man, me hitting harmon. Okay, that
that's fine.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
That hey man wh had Ryan Hollind suggests that we
should get into a fight, like a real one that
we like sell tickets to and stuff me and Smith.
Oh no, no, no, if you and Smith's got a
decade built up of pent up and frustration and anger
with me for yelling at him and arguing with him
all these years, that it should be time to take
it to the octagon. It fell off of a conversation,

(32:21):
you know, the the Kendrick Perkins Lebron James and the unfollowing.

Speaker 4 (32:27):
Yeah, I don't know, it's a sandwich harmon, you stand
no chance.

Speaker 3 (32:31):
Oh if it's for a sandwich, yeah yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
Like if they parade a big mac around the ring
and say this is for the winner, like you're cooked,
Like it's that Like I wouldn't even start. I'd be
like the fighter from This Weekend that would see the
video the guy went out to touch gloves and instead
of touch and gloves, he kicked the guy.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
Well, I always gotta be bell rang ding ding.

Speaker 1 (32:52):
Let me let me give you this Caitlin Clark conspiracy theory. Okay,
k Clark, not a big night tonight. The fever loose. Hey,
they play the son that the best team in the
in the WNBA. Not a great night, ten points, no
assist for wella. Now, could she have been the twelfth
player on the team. Of course she could have, right,
they could have done that. Did she absolutely have to

(33:12):
make the team? Does she make it on merit? You
could argue either way, right, But here's the thing is
that it's a big deal when you don't take Caitlyn Clark,
especially when you start hearing stories about how, hey, maybe
this was about the players reacting to her fan base.
If she doesn't get a lot of minutes, you think
there's something there. But let me throw this at you
and tell me what you think. Think about this for

(33:34):
a second. Is Caitlin Clark really not on the Olympic team?
Is she really not on the team because they took
a couple of players. Look, they took Britney Grinder, who
just played her first game the other day, obviously plays
a different position. But they also took Chelsea Gray, who
has been injured and not played all year. And the
latest update on her is that she says, I'm hoping

(33:55):
to come back at some point this season. Right, she
got hurt her in the WNBA finals. She's a great player, but.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
There's no I mean, there's no time frame it all
for her to come back, and they play another month
and then they're gone, like suddenly she's gonna come back
and play, like suddenly she can come back and play.
So let me tell you this. They obviously have an
injured player on the list at the bottom of the
roster that probably is not going to play because again,
no update on Chelsea Grey's health at all. Hopefully at

(34:22):
some point there's nothing out there. What if this was
one of those moments where it's okay, we can't put
you on the roster because a lot of the players
will revolt. They don't think you've earned it. You still
have to work on the anti Caitlin Clark group, which
is ridiculous, but you have to work through it. If
you turn it up in the next month and suddenly

(34:43):
you're scoring thirty a game, hey guess what, we will
take you to the Olympics. When Chelsea Gray can't go,
we name an injury replacement, it will be you. Now,
there's other players who would want to get on that list,
right Agamba Wally would probably want to get on the list.
She was the first choice, then we're back in the
same situation. She takes seventy five shots a game.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
Man, Come on, I mean she she does to shoot,
but like, let's just say that that's why we have
an injured spot on the team right now, and we
want to leave that to where potentially, Hey, if we
want to grab Caitlin Clark, then it can happen. So
if she turns it up in the next month and
suddenly tonight was obviously not a great game. But if
in the next month before they stop playing middle of July, hey,

(35:23):
suddenly she turns into a great player, you know, or
she continues to become the player she's at right because
she's still really good right now. If she comes out
of this next month score in twenty five thirty a game,
guess what, they're gonna have to take her and then
everybody wins. Right you play. She's not gonna play a
ton of minutes, but it doesn't matter. It's the Olympics,
just the fact that she's there. She's gonna play in
most of the games because they're gonna kill everybody. More

(35:45):
people watch and everybody wins. But this, I wonder how
much of this is just a, hey, this spot is
still there because obviously the injured player. You turn it
up in a month and then it's a different conversation
before we leave for the Olympics.

Speaker 3 (35:57):
Yeah, the curiosity, right, the backlash, all the different reasonings, excuses,
whatever we get into basketball non basketball reason that Christine
Brennan report was still the one. I immediately fired up
the camera and was posting the Instagram as I'm sitting around,
because I mean Friday night it circulated a little bit, right,

(36:19):
Steve de Sager with the updates saying, oh, this is
what it's looking like, and then Saturday more reports on
the roster. But Brennan's report was Yeah, multiple people thought,
you know, the millions and millions of fans would be
turned off because she wouldn't get a lot of playing
time because of the because of the stacked roster, and
that would become an issue. It's like, yes, so it
was better to leave her off entirely because that's not

(36:42):
going to cause a bad luck. Yeah. Yeah, So that
logic is like, really, you think this is better and
we can get into all the marketing and management side
of it from that angle. Locker room discord and familiarity
of the players that have been together for years, deserve

(37:03):
another chance to defend the seven time straight all of
that stuff. But yeah, I mean, the potential certainly is there.
You're never gonna sway the folks that doesn't think she
deserves to go anyway. The whole idea of merit in
anything being spoken by a lot of folks go back
into histories about folks got their jobs, is always kind

(37:25):
of kind of comical to me. She doesn't deserve it,
she hasn't earned it.

Speaker 1 (37:31):
Uh huh, exit out bout a fresca exit swellendpe. So
just think about that. Is she really not on the team?
Still got a month? Turn it up, different conversation. I
will have more on this story and more on the
other big basketball story of the day today. What do
the Lakers do now that they got played by Danny Hurley?
Keep it right here, Jason and Mike, This is Fox Sports.
