You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
So the two to two and Otani drills a B.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Right center field, a majestic bass s.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Hey, Tony, Yeah, that was the night it was for
the Dodgers. The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Carmon live from the Tirack dot Com studios tirec
dot com, I helpe you get there at unmatched selection, fast,
free shipping, free road hazard protection and over ten thousand
recommended in stallers tirack dot com. The way tire buying

(00:58):
should be. The Dodgers tonight, every other batter had a
home run. Seems like yeah, uh, to the point where
the Rangers brought in Andrew Kissner a catcher to pitch
in the seventh inning, like they're saving your your uh,
your your bullpen. Then there's hey this guy's in the
seventh well, you know he was over.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Some were wondering if it was cruel and unusual punishment
to be left out there when you're getting bludgeoned. Uh
buzz they were.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
I don't think they scored off the kissner. No, no, no,
here's the thing, man, if you're the Dodgers the rest
of this series, that's the guy you gotta watch out for.
They go to the bullpen for him. That's the one
guy you're not gonna hit.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Either that or you saw everything he could possibly throw
at it because they were trying to buy as many
as many pitches it outs as you.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Throwing fifty mile an hour. Some some balls didn't play.
Try to catch it up to this. Yeah, I mean,
and he got everybody out.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
A good strategy. Hey, you this guy's been throwing uh
ninety eight and straight. Good luck figuring out what the
hell's coming next. Hernandez serves the ball in the air
left center field and gone.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
The tale show travels home.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
One of the home run calls making the rounds was, oh.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Oh my god, it was mean. It was that kind
of exactly for the Dodgers. Will Smith had a three
run home run the first, O Tani hit a home run,
Hernandez hit a home run, Jason Hayward hit a home run,
Freddy Freeman had a home run. Jason Hard an absolute flash,

(02:43):
Rafael Landstoy hit a home run. Hirom Boca Chica had
a home run.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
High you're tak I mean there's everybody had to keep
going on back down.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
I go middle infielders who you know, played about eighty
games a year.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
That's pretty good.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
I think Joe Davis gets extra paying when there's on
the home runs.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Oh, I think he gets aid per home run. That's
the only time when the Dodge at a home run,
he gets paid for a night.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
And he still has to be excited about it because
at that point the game is no longer a factor.
Still got to sell the Dodge home running.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
The Dodgers had four home runs in the sixth inning tonight.
It will I guarantee you this, Okay, what's today? Wednesday?
No Tuesday? Tuesday. We'll do the show through Friday. I
guarantee you the Mets won't it. Four home runs between
now and Friday total come on more than hot dogs

(03:33):
for phone dogs on July. Alonzo's got to do something
to get traded for the deadline. He's got to go
deep in some point. The Mets won't have four home
runs between for for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, they won't. I'm
taking the under I guarantee they take the under four
and the sixth inning oh to Congo line. But again, look,
I'm at the point we said it last hour. I

(03:54):
don't want any of these pesky teams like the Phillies
like to run around saying, look, go great we are,
or the Orioles, look how young and good we are. No,
no one is robbing us of the Yankees Dodgers World
Series that we all deserve as fans. We all deserve
this world Series. It's were It's the two best teams
in baseball, with more future Hall of Famers than any
matchup you could possibly have. This is what we're getting

(04:15):
this year and nobody getting the way.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Can I just say, for for my own purposes, can
we just call it a world series right now? Just
fast forward to play like the best of one hundred
and one.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
I just say it.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
No.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
So, so all these guys are playing. As much as
I'd like to have Clayton Kershaw back and everything else,
that'd be fantastic.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
It comes back.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
I mean, god, man, but are you guaranteed that you
got Judge and Stanting on the other side when we
get to October? But just I mean, I wish you
can want again, hope.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Okay, no, judge'll standing out. Okay, no, but.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Because he had his sixteenth to night Judge, it is
twenty fifth. Judge, is the Yankees beat up on the Royals?
I mean, think, think about all the potent like Frostburg
mentioned it last hour, like well, like how many ten
potential Hall of Famers you.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
Had, Mookie Freddy Okay, yeah, Judge.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Probably Kershaw Kershaw will be back. He left Kershaw Kershaw.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
They were they were debating whether Stanton is if he
gets the five hundred home runs, he probably is.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Probably Soda Soda right, maybe Garrett Cole, depending on how.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
He does so far, t Oscar after the last two weeks.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Okay, okay, if nothing else, so have a little little cubicle.
He's having no wait, he's my m v P.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
Right, I do know, and I'll give up and I'll
give you will Smith too, because if he continues to
rake as a catcher, the number he's gonna he's gonna put.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
One hundred and one home runs after time.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
You have no idea what Yamamoto is gonna do. No,
you don't know, No Yama and what if?

Speaker 5 (05:40):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (05:40):
And Anthony Volpi, I mean Volpi took huge he took
a huge stride this year. Man, he's pretty good.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
Did your dad? No?

Speaker 1 (05:47):
No, no, By the way, you get your dad those
world series just that's gonna be impossible. Well, every day
he's gonna walk in and go, yeah, you know, so
I freed my schedule for October just so you know, Dad,
your schedule's free. Every day you're retired, you go to
pavilions every day. That's what you do.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
You get My mom did that for a while where
she was at her local grocery store down in Florida,
Like what are you doing? Because I gotta find deals, Like.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
He's gonna beat that dugout club nacho helmet?

Speaker 3 (06:14):
H what's that gonna be? Like one hundred and fifty
bucks special World series.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
In a world series one easily fifteen hundred special web.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
I like that. No, that's only for like the nachos
and cheese, Like that's it. If you want more in it, yeah,
it's it's two thousand dollars.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
Now, look again, nothing will rob us of this World series.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
Just go the goat fund yourself has been started to
get Walt.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
To the World Series.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
Get this, We're gonna start a patreoon. What what are
you doing? What are you talking like? Just trying to
get enough money to send instead of Jason's dad to
the World Series as our correspond instead of getting to
the Greek it's got my dad to the World's funny.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
What do we can do? We could pitch Fox on that. Yeah,
my dad will be a correspondent. Yeah, how will we do?
Maybe you'll curse a little bit. I don't know, it depends.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
We've had that before. Yeah, I mean guess host had
a little bit of that.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
I mean, come on, but look, we mentioned this. We
can't let this go because no, no, we gotta get no,
we gotta get to it.

Speaker 6 (07:19):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
With NFL mini camps now in full swing, there are
four high profile players who are missing their team's mini camps.
Two of them play for the Jets. Jetsho congratulations, uh,
And the biggest player who is missing is Aaron Rodgers. Now,
look is something going to be decided here in June?

(07:42):
When it's three practices when Rogers was there for the
entire ota, has been there the entire offseason. No, but
this is where I just cringe when I listened to
Robert Sala explain why Aaron Rodgers is not at the
Jets Mini camp, which this is mandatory NFL Mini camp
before everybody goes on vacation for a month and comes

(08:03):
back and we hit training camp last Hirah, I felt
so embarrassed for Robert Solid today as he explained why
Rogers is not with the Jets for the three day
mini camp.

Speaker 5 (08:14):
Aaron and I spoke before OTIA started. He's been very
good in communication. He's been here the entire time. It's inexcused,
but he had an event that was very important to him,
which he communicated to him.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
He had an event that was important to him. It's inexcused,
but he told me he had an event that was
important to him. He told me that event. I am
so because Robert Solid, that's like an emasculating thing to
have to stand there and say, because what he's basically
saying is, yeah, eight calls the shots. I'm just a
guy in a headset that jumps up and down and

(08:45):
gets excited. We make plays. I don't have any responsibilities.
I don't get to call the shots on anything. Yeah,
Aaron's not here, but he told me he's not going
to be here. The rest of the Jets are going,
wait a minute, why did I have to gow? How
come I have to be here? If he had a
reason why he couldn't be here, because if it was
a serious reason. But before you think, O, wait what
if it was serious. If it was serious, it would
be excused. He would call and say, hey, I have

(09:07):
a family issue, a thing, or it would be an excuse.
But this is an excuse because he has an event.
Maybe he's got to do a podcast, Maybe he's gonna
do some kind of cleanse. Maybe he's gonna do a
tyser thing where he's gonna walk in the desert with
no water for five days, which don't do that, And
try to see if visions come to him to tell
him something like what does he have to do? But oh,
I have a very important event I want to attend,

(09:30):
so I'm not gonna be there. Oh oh okay, Like
the head coach and the OC, nobody has any power.
And this is the Jets once again saying, hey, all
our hopes are on eight, covering up all our ills
because now our head coach, who they probably should have replaced.
I told you should replace him. He's not up for
the job. He is just a guy. I got to
stand on the sidelines. I got to the teeth brushing commercial.

(09:52):
That's awesome, and I get to look excited when a
guy has a sack, and then we don't play well.
I look really bad on the sideline, so I give
really bad body languag and that's my job. I have
no responsibilities here whatsoever. I'm Sam Winebern from a few
good men.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
But Aaron Rodgers told me he's not gonna be here,
so okay, they didn't say they're gonna find him, didn't
say this.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Hey, it's an excuse. But he did tell me he
was not coming. Oh oh, that's great, that's great. That's
like a guy calling up his girlfriend and saying, hey,
I know we're supposed to go out tonight.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
Yeah yeah, but I can't go. Why Well, because I
have another date with another girl. Okay, I just want
to tell you that. And then she hangs up the
phone and her parents go what happened?

Speaker 1 (10:30):
What happened? And she goes well, and she's thinking I
don't want to break up with him, says so, well,
he can't take me out tonight because he's got a
date with another girl. Wait, what you have to bring
up with him?

Speaker 3 (10:40):
No, no, but we had a conversation about he told me
like it's constant communication with him, Like he told me consommunication.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
He told me he was taking out another girl. So
it's it's inexcused. But you know he did call me
and tell me he was gonna go out with another girl.
I didn't have an exclusivity clause in the contract. Now
in this particular case, you know, for Robert Solo, is
very easy for him to just say it was communicated.
He's been good about keeping in touch with us, and
after a discussion, he couldn't be here for these activities

(11:09):
and leave it at that. People want to poke and
prod and go after Aaron Rodgers. They came, would have
got the question of well, media is that's being on
the bone right there. They're gonna say, is it excused?
Did you excuse him?

Speaker 3 (11:20):
He but just say it's an excused absence. Whether it
is or isn't. You're the coach.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
Oh wait a minute, I just you just hit on it.
That's how you say it, and it's it's an excused absence?
Wait is it inexcuse?

Speaker 3 (11:32):
That's what I said. Wait did you say inexcused? Or
is an excused absence?

Speaker 1 (11:35):
Yes? I did? Next question, well, wait, was it inexcused
or he is excused? Asked an answered anything else? That's
that's what he should have done. That's it, And you're
trying to Parson should just looked like kind of just
just like wait, people love together and say it's excuse absence? Wait?
What just like that? It's an excuse? Is excuse? In excuse?
I don't know. I asked an answer, man, it's all good.

(11:57):
Ask me something else. I'm not going to answer it again.
He's not here.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
We got seventy five guys here busting their ass. I mean,
if I were him, I would have spent the rest
of the time talking about Reddick. That's the one that matters.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
You can do that, Tom, What do you think about Reddick?
He's not there either. Well, listen, he could be the
head coach of the Lakers. We're still not sure. I mean.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
From a family plant that the Lakers were hot on
Danny Hurry No, no, would mean.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
Hassan Reddick yeah, no, you asked about Reddick. I just
told you no. Hey, Athinago, that was a terrible movie
with Vin Diesel, The Adventures of Reddick. Oh, it's so bad.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
But anyway, with your man Salah, I mean, it's just
so easy to dismiss it like I'm in charge here.
We had a conversation, but he's not in charge. But
just say it's excused and be done with it.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
He's a guy that gets to dress up on Sundays
and wear Jets gear and have a headset on and
when they cut away to him look like he's saying
important things. But in this case he might have been
the clown. He might have been Arthur, like without the
face paint.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
Okay, we know you're a joker, but you're not showing
us that you're the joker here. He pancake makeuped himself
as he was answering the question by saying, well, an
excuse me, but you know what, are you gonna do it?

Speaker 1 (13:16):
But it was important. It's just him. It's just so
embarrassing because is it a big deal for the Jets. No,
Rogers has been there. Everything is fine being there for
three weeks of OTAs I think is a pretty good deal.
And and look to rod Taylor, maybe the rep look
two good things, Taylor, maybe the reps anyway, And two
it's less Aaron Rodgers potential of getting hurt. Well, or

(13:36):
you could have done this and been friendly fire.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Hey, at least we're not the Lions. We didn't get
in trouble. My seventy five guys are still here. Those
guys all got sad home.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
Yeah, listen, we had one thing where we had Quinn
Williams actually sacked Aaron Rodgers and it's another torn Achilles.
So we're we're monitoring that right now. It's just it's
just so embarrassing. See everybody, wait, I'll talk to you tomorrow.
It's just embarrassing. The Jets are gonna jet like this,
and to know, yeah, your head coach really has no

(14:06):
power whatsoever. Like he must have felt just like I
like it, Like what am I I have to say
that it's inexcused, But he told me about it.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
He told me it was important to him. It's an excuse,
but he does an important event. It is important to Hey,
you know, podcasts are very important for me. Like these
podcasts goes sometimes three and four hours. Hey, you know
it's a marathon, not a sprint.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Exit out about a Fresco exit swollen Dome. The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carbon coming up next.
We got more from the NFL as we now know
who the cover athlete of Madden twenty five is and
I have no idea why he's okay with doing it.
That's next right here, Jason and Mike Fox. Are you

(14:54):
tired of endlessly searching for work? Applying for jobs, never
hearing back. Well, depending how things go with the Jets
this year, might be able to apply there.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
But be sure to catch live editions of The Jason
Smith Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern
seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 7 (15:13):
Hey, we're Covino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day
five to seven pm Eastern. But here's the thing, we
never have enough time to get to everything we want
to get to.

Speaker 6 (15:22):
And that's why we have a brand new podcast called
over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in
our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Yeah, you blubber list name and me.

Speaker 7 (15:36):
Well, you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.

Speaker 6 (15:41):
Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk
life and relationships. And if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time, it will
continue on our after show called over Promised.

Speaker 7 (15:54):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make
sure you check out over Promised and also uncensored, by
the way, so maybe we'll go at it even a
little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast
of all time.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
There you go, over promising.

Speaker 6 (16:06):
Remember you could see it on YouTube, but definitely join us.
Listen Over Promised with Cadino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
Oh, take some time to heal. Take some time to heal. Hey,
speaking of taking time to heal, Kelsey plummet a little
bit of a for in the Aces game tonight.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
They're getting drum two minutes left in the third drive
to the rack got rejected. No little bit and John
broke out and you can uh well read my lips.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
A couple of f bombs thrown. She was pretty fired up.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
Of course they were getting their asses hand to do
them on the way to a five and five record
the first with all those Olympians.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
You think they'd be better than five.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
Soon, Time to heal, guys. I heard this was playing
in the Rangers clubhouse.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
Hey you want, dude, when Kissinger comes in and then
shuts you down the next two nights, just think about him, man,
he's their best picture on you go.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
Bo Sports Radio Jason Smith Show with the Mike Carbon
You just watch that happen. It's a five to five
game tomorrow night. Here comes Kissner in the eighth.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
Talk about change of pace. Right there, he eating innings,
eating at bats.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
Let's go. He's the only guy that can get anybody
else where. He went to him. That's what we gotta do. Uh.
But look, we saw today big news in the NFL
that Christian McCaffrey is going to be on the cover
of Mad Yeah he is. And I have no idea

(17:41):
why he's doing this. Okay, not because I'm the most well,
I get an idea, But is it that much money
for him to be.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
On If it's financial bring, I think it's just you know,
you're part of history, your legacy.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
Now you can walk into any store.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
You can walk into a tar Ja Souper for store
and bam, there's a whole rack of your face staring
back at you. I don't, I don't, I don't. I
don't think they I don't think that's they sell on Target.
They don't sell games, some games, but men still get
some run there ye somewhat noth I gotta Target, it
says Target.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
This Target.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
Best Buy is where you go to test stuff out
and then you go buy it online.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
Best Buy.

Speaker 3 (18:23):
If you best Buy walking, if there's anybody even in
the store anymore, I'm like, oh, it's just people in
best Buy stock trading curds. So I may pop in
to see what's on the show.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
But you know the history behind the Madden curse, right,
it's and it's not quite been getting hurt every year
like it was ten twelve years ago, but the last
few years. Okay, this guy's on the cover and Madden
and and their teams are there individually, they have a
down season. Now here's Christian McCaffrey, who just got paid
just a lot of money, wizard, and he's had a

(18:54):
big injury history.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
Yeah, and he's okay with being on the cover.

Speaker 1 (19:01):
Why would you do that? Why would you tempt fate
that way? Now, again, not that I'm one hundred percent superstitious,
but why would you tempt fate that way?

Speaker 3 (19:09):
Maybe he got the call right as he finished the
first in the series of Final Destination movies that guy survived.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
I can do this too. I've been healthy for two years.
I just got paid. I could be in the cover
of Man. Okay, Okay, I mean.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
Sometimes you do not taunt Happy fun Ball or the
football gods.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
And if you got that reference and I love you
now before we get into just just just give you
an everyday example. Why.

Speaker 3 (19:35):
Here's Christian McCaffrey from earlier today talking about why he's okay,
why he loves being on the cover of Madden Man.

Speaker 8 (19:42):
I mean, this is something that you know, I think
about all the times where me and my three brothers
would be in the basement playing Madden two thousand and one,
going all the way back to them and just having
such a blast on the Nintendo sixty four, and we
would throw it to my dad on every play, and
you know, fast forward to now being able to be

(20:03):
on the cover is a massive honor.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
Yeah, to be fair, his dad had six what do
you have six catches for ninety four yards? He played
one game in two thousand and one. No, well, that's
the thing.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
Christian McCaffrey is twenty eight, so he would have had
him been playing playing Madden when he was four, well,
you know he was advanced.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
I mean, look at look at the way he and
I only can jump through defenses and the spin moves.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
What do you think of Arck and they're four years old.

Speaker 3 (20:30):
There's no way you can win it Madden by throwing
it to Ed McCaffrey on every play.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
There's no way.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
He had one hundred and one catches in two thousand.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
Yeah, but they come on, man, you know that would
have been the guy he was playing with the next.

Speaker 3 (20:40):
Year, winning by throwing at thirteen hundred yards nine touches.

Speaker 1 (20:44):
Jeffrey not gonna throw it to Rod Smith. The Jets.
The Jets even I don't think they were in Madden
in two thousand. That was my joke. They were not
even there.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
But two thousand and two we won the division and
he was a video game, but the two thousand and
one would have been based on that two thousand season
where easy Ed was it was a beast. So that
was kind of a sly way of getting folks to
look up his dad's numbers. What why do you put
this out there when you've seen what's happened to players?

(21:14):
You see you know that you have an injury history,
and I'm okay being you're Lieutenant Dan in Forrest Gump,
remember the storm and he starts cursing at the almighty?
Is that all you got?

Speaker 1 (21:27):
Let me just that's kind of what Christian McCaffrey's doing.
Let me let's give you this example. Let's give you
this example, you.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
Know, like that one ice cream Lieutenant Dan ice cream
ice scream.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
Let's just say I have difficulty driving, okay, and I
get an accident. Let's say that it happens, okay, like
Christian McCaffrey gets hurt. Right, he gets it last couple years,
But okay, I get an accidents. Right, last year or
so has been good. But I get in a lot
of right, Let's just say I get a lot of acts,

(22:02):
play a little bump and jump, I get it. Yeah again,
old video game and I need to go buy a
new car, and I go to the guy selling car.
Here's my thing is that you know I drive, I
do get a lot of accidents. Okay, greaty as well. Hey,
I got a great car for you. It's right over here.
It's the Madden car. It's the new Madden car. Oh really, yes,

(22:22):
it's a Madden twenty five. The twenty four has left
a lot a few months ago. We don't have any
of those. So it's a different kind of Madden cruiser.
It's a Madden it's a Madden twenty five. Yeah, really yeah.
But here's the thing. A lot of people that have
driven this car have gotten an accidents. What do you
mean there's no reason for it. It's not it's not
like you can point to anything in the car. The
car's fine, everything's fine, or the car is good, car goes.

(22:44):
But it just so happens that a lot of people
that have bought this car, they've gotten into accidents. So
I'm Christian McCaffrey, or I'm a guy that's good that
gets in accidents, and you can sell me a car
that gets in accidents. I gonna buy that car. Of course,
I'm not gonna buy that. No, no, no, But if what

(23:04):
I do that, I'm like, are you getting injured or
are you just bouncing off people?

Speaker 8 (23:09):
Well?

Speaker 1 (23:09):
Actually, well obviously I'm okay. So I'm okay enough to
drive because I'm going out to buy a new car.
But maybe I'm buying a new car because I wrecked
the old.

Speaker 3 (23:15):
Right, But if that car, if that car survives a
lot of bumps. But if that's a good selling point,
it's like a take if I give it to a
bad driver or you're a kid.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
If I am predisposed two car accidents, I'm not gonna
get a car that seems to be predisposed. Yeah, but
you also don't play running. I'm not gonna do it. No,
that's dumb. That's dumb. Give me a different car. You
know what, Maybe I take the bus.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
I'm not gonna lie.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
We just had the thirtieth anniversary of speaking. Maybe I'll
take the bus. Now, I'm gonna go see that bus.
I kind of like McCaffrey a little bit more. Now, okay, yeah, sure,
then wait the week three. I don't have them on
my fantasy roster this year. Man forget about getting hur
wet just has a down year. Why would you tempt
fate with Why would you do that? Why would you
do that? Well, you got guts, you need a challenge. Oh,

(24:05):
you got guts until it looks stupid. That's it. People
have guts until something looks until you look stupid. I
like this, Yeah, that was that's like? What is? What is? Uh?
What does Viper tell Tom? Cruise and Top? That was
some of the best flying I've seen yet, right up
until the part where you got killed?

Speaker 3 (24:19):
Right all right, just Jetter tells them that. Sorry, right
up until you got killing, I've seen you. But legitimately no,
I mean you can't run from it. You got an opportunity.
Don't have to be on it?

Speaker 1 (24:30):
Yeah, but you don't have to be part of history. Hey,
look I might have a bad year. You think who's
never on there? You think do you think the Niners are?
To a man? Then the rest of the players on
the Niners they hear, Hey, Christian McCaffrey's on the cover
of Madden. Unless you're a backup running back who may
get on the field. You're saying, I don't want him

(24:51):
on the cover. It might be something to that I
don't want to be on the cover. Probably trying to
find Jerry Rice. He's got some thoughts on this. Listen.
Maybe because I'm a little dursty. I'm a little I'm
a little you know. I use the car the car
thing because I don't know why, but you're a terrible
jo no no, no, no, no no, no, knock with them.
Have you seen that commercial with the self driving car

(25:11):
where the guy gets in the back and he says,
take me home, and he's doing stuff in the car,
and the car takes him to this other destination in
the woods and he gets out and it turns out
it's a surprise party for him for his birthday. And
I'm like, okay, and I get the Okay. We're leaning
into the fact that people are suspicious of cars, and
we want you to know that you can trust the car.
Oh okay, you can trust the car. The car will

(25:32):
take you where you want to. But I see that commercial,
I walk away and I go, so, wait, that's my car.
I tell it where to go. Other people can get
in and tell my car to take me someplace else.
Why the hell would I buy a self driving car.
You're showing that in the commercial. To be fair, this
is also an extension of your anti uber list and
any other driving throup that you've had for a decade

(25:52):
with me on the show. Why am I getting into
the car with this guy? I saw that commercial and
I'm like, this is like a movie. This is they're playing.
I got it? Use this guy in the back of
a car doesn't know where it's going and it's his
self driving car and oh, oh you took me to
this party?

Speaker 8 (26:08):
Ha?

Speaker 1 (26:08):
Were you in on this? Ha?

Speaker 7 (26:09):
Huh?

Speaker 1 (26:10):
Party music?

Speaker 3 (26:11):
Did the cart start talking like kid William Daniel.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
It's math it's the voice of Matthew Perry as the house.
Could I be any more of a house? No, it's
it's a women's voice Simpsons, Matthew Perry, Look you could
I be any more of a house? No, it's a
woman's voice. And he goes, oh, we're not going home,
and she doesn't say anything, doesn't say anything. They play
the music and I go, this is not making me
want to buy a self driving car, and with Roger

(26:38):
Taylor singing I'm in love with my car. It ended
with him getting out and the guy with a chainsaw. No,
he gets out of the car and then people pop
out with oh, happy birthday, and he says to the car, Oh,
were you in on this? And and the car says, oh,
I won't say a word something crazy like that. I go, okay,
I get that your want a relationship with his car.

(26:59):
You yet that is also a little weird, like it's
kind of religiab. It is a weird thing. And and
a part of me gets that. I understand that they
want to set people at ease, and people are weird
about driving car. I want to hear about the self
driving car? Got an accent? Okay, so I get you
want to do that a little bit.

Speaker 3 (27:14):
But really I come away from the fact that, oh,
so his friends decided we're going to circumvent this car
and send it out here to the woods where the
party is and not tell him, so that can happen
to my car.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
I about to buy that car when it can take
me where I'm going. Oh, you're taking me to a party. Well,
it's the thumb of Louise. What's happening? Sorry spoiler alert.

Speaker 3 (27:31):
It's Friday night and he accidentally instead of taking me home,
he clicked give me an adventure, Give me an advent.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
We got They're driving the side of the car, two
wheels are up going through I mean you're with the family,
all right. So anyway, this is why I went with
the car analogy because it was right there about the
scariness of the car. But again, especially if you had
that commercial. Yeah, the commercial wasn't but the commercial. The
commercial is someone telling Chris McCaffrey, dude, look at what's

(28:01):
happened to all these people on the cover. I get
that it's independent and maybe, but why would you want
to do that? Why would you want to Why is.

Speaker 3 (28:10):
He can use all the sage brushes that clearly Kyrie
ain't look at Kyrie on that.

Speaker 1 (28:16):
Wow, it's not Kyrie's fall, well unless it is because.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
Twelve lawelve games since he stumped on the logo, he
got to go make peace with the leprechauns man to say, right, I.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
Don't know why you would do that. Christo m I
don't know why because I guarantee you there will be
people in fantasy who will be nervous about drafting him
number one because he's on.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
I would have been nervous about the injury history, you know,
with another year in the rearview, even with the monster
here last year. But I'll tell you this. You you
celebrate for one reason why is that he's not a
gent No, that is true.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
That is true. Oh look it's Garrett Wilson and Breese
Hall on the cover. Oh that's correct.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
Or a picture of Aaron Rodgers running with the flag.
Do you want to talk about tempt Let's go and the.

Speaker 4 (29:00):
Game would stop after Forrest naps?

Speaker 1 (29:02):
Oh hey, is this game defective? Nope, that's all we
built in. How long you play Madden for it? Not
very long. It's gonna be fourth place. Yeah, that's it.
It's over. Now we can go out and play baseball.

Speaker 3 (29:13):
Let's get the gang together and ride our bikes.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
Time not to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports from the Aaron Rodgers of Fox Sports Radio.
Oh yes, because he's never around when you need him,
and he have crazy ideas. It's Brian friendly with what's trending.

Speaker 4 (29:28):
Well, thank you.

Speaker 9 (29:28):
From the Jets to the Yankees, jettising the Royals. As
we look at Major.

Speaker 1 (29:33):
Leagu jettisonning, jettis soonning, jettison, jettisoning, jettisoning. Didn't I say that?

Speaker 3 (29:38):
You said jettison, jennison ji jettisonning. Really, jettison is not
a thing. I'm like jetting is a thing, like, hey,
jet's gonna jet Like jetting is a thing.

Speaker 9 (29:51):
Darn it, Jettising, I blame that on my fourth grade teacher.
Sorry about that.

Speaker 3 (29:55):
Wow, yeah, not the fourth grade teacher catching strays, which
is more out of about by Kyrie Irving or that one.

Speaker 9 (30:03):
Jason's like, I can't even remember the name of my
fourth grade teacher.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
No, I'm just thinking I don't. Oh no, I miss Forcel.
I was actual thinking about her the other day, mister.

Speaker 10 (30:12):
Yeah, yeah, whoa both and Frostburg and immediately tilted her
and no, no, no, because because one of our friends, Joey's.

Speaker 1 (30:26):
Friends, one of Zoe's friends younger siblings, was just finishing
fourth grade and she was like, oh she had it
was a really rough year. Her teacher yelled a lot
and it's stunk. And I was like, oh, man, I'll
talk to her because I had a horrible fourth grade year.
Because Miss Forcell was our teacher. All she did was
yell at people. She just loved to yell every second
of the day. Everything. In fact, this is she would

(30:48):
and she would walk like with a limp, and here's
what she would do. You ready for this? Ready for this?
Miss forcel which I can't believe this is allowed. Uh,
she would walk and because she didn't want to use
a cane, she would she would bring a kid with
her who was short enough, put her hand on his
shoulders and walk and that's how she would be able
to limp. And I'm like, that's not cool at all,

(31:10):
But that's what she did in fourth grade. She takes
the kid a flying monkey. She took the cane to
the kid. No, no, she didn't find it. Isn't your
fourth grade teacher kiss you? No, she didn't want to
with a cane, but she had a kid, one of
her students, that would walk with her, that she would
put his hand on the kids. Story is not as good.
Family kissed him.

Speaker 9 (31:27):
So I actually my first kiss, I'm not gonna lie,
was my fourth grade teacher.

Speaker 1 (31:32):
Is not a story for the radio. Mine is more
story for the radio than that. That's a story for
the police.

Speaker 6 (31:38):
You know.

Speaker 1 (31:39):
The problem is the kiss has yet to happen. The
problem is is she went right for the lips. Ripped
from the headlines. Again, not a cool story for the radio.
No not no? Wow, Well, yeah, you have eight seconds
left and tell us what's trending.

Speaker 9 (31:57):
And By the way, you forgot to mention Jason that
you repeated for fourth grade.

Speaker 1 (32:00):
So there's I got great grades in school. Yeah, college
until they.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
Were until he was playing basses, loaned all day. Yeah,
trying to win the World Series with good old Skiff.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (32:15):
You who show you and your game boy?

Speaker 1 (32:19):
iHeartRadio app Global.

Speaker 9 (32:21):
Yes, so Major League Baseball. We go there and the
Yankees of the ten to one win against the Royals,
Blue Jays three to noth things victorious over the Brewers, Diamondbacks,
nine to four victors against the Angels. Mariners with a
four to three triumph against the White Sox, Cal Rawley
hit a go ahead would be two run double in
the seventh thing. That would be the ultimate, I guess

(32:44):
blow to the White Sox, who are still looking for
any way to try to win games at this point.
Padres four to three against the Athletics, Kyle Igshioka with
the walk off home run to the left fold as
a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth.
That one gave the San Diego Padres to win. Astros

(33:06):
three to one victors over the Giants. We saw the
Dodgers fifteen to two. They trumpet the win over the
Rangers five home runs, four in the sixth inning for
Los Angeles as they hope to get to the World Series,
and they beat the World Series champion Rangers. So there's
that to mention. Also notably Nationals over the Tigers five

(33:29):
to four, that was in ten innings, raise over the
Cubs five to two. And lastly, guys outside of the
world of baseball, John Rahm, if you're hoping to see
him in the field this week at the US Open
at Pineers Number two in North Carolina, the third major
of the year in golf, he is not going to
be there. You're going to look up and down the

(33:50):
field and look at all the names and you're not
going to see him there. And that is because he's
got a foot infection. So that is why you're not
going to see him there. He was the Masters twenty
twenty three champion. With that, let's get it back to
a guy who doesn't have a foot infection. But I
think he's got bunions. It's Jason Smith and Mike Harmon,

(34:10):
Thank you very.

Speaker 1 (34:11):
Much, Brian bunyons like, hey, hey go soak those feet.
Coming up, Matcham Salts, coming up next, the latest load
of crap that USA Olympic Basketball is trying to feed
us about why they didn't take Caitlin Clark for the
Olympic team. That's next right here. Fox.

Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with My best
Friend Mike Harmon, Well Dressed Hobo Livethetirack dot Com Studios.
Here's the latest load of crap that's being fed to
us about why USA Basketball didn't pick Caitlyn Clark for

(35:02):
the Olympics this summer. I don't want to eat that. No,
well it's it's well, it's eat it. You don't have
to take They tried to serve it to us.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
It's like giving me the fake hot dog in the
Joey Chestnuts story.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
Hey uh, Caitlyn Clark not picked for the Olympic team
has been a very big topic of conversation the last
few days, and USA Basketball just absolutely continues to make
it worse by showing you that all they wanted to
do was find a way to say no and not
take her because today Jen Rizzotti, former Yukon star point

(35:38):
guard uh is the head of the Olympic committee that
chose the team. And could you have taken Caitlyn Clark
and given her the final spot? Yeah, you could have.
Does he need to play, No, she doesn't, just needs
to be on the team. Would it be great for
women's basketball if you did? Yes, because more people would watch,
You have more interest than WNBA when people would come
back from this. It just made sense. But because of

(35:59):
the tight Caitlyn clarkness, whether it's from players who were
jealous for no reason other than the fact that she's
getting things that we didn't get, or you're upset if
you're a broadcaster talking about it, whatever reason, they want
to cowtow to players, and the powers would be that
don't want to put Caitlin Clark on this team. Jen
Rizzotti said that the biggest reason they didn't take Caitlyn

(36:20):
Clark was because of her inexperience, which in a vacuum,
I get it right. All the other players have national
team experience, even the bottom of the roster who they
they took, Hey, these are players had had experienced. She
couldn't play with them. This year.

Speaker 3 (36:33):
But don't want to break it to right, right, But
it's kind of funny because she also didn't get to
work with them because they're tryouts were during the nc DOM.

Speaker 1 (36:42):
Hey, let's have it during the tournament. So Caitland can't
come like all of a sudden, this is like a
high school thing. But if we haven't now Kaitlyn can't,
we haven't here.

Speaker 3 (36:48):
All the ring can't show up, and Reese can't show up,
and all of these rookies they're not a one of them,
get to come and work out with you.

Speaker 1 (36:56):
They won't be able to complain at all. Uh, but
she said, okay, inexperience is a factor, butch right, I
get it in the vacuum. However, however, however, in the
last twenty years, and I remember talking about Olympics every
four years, not every year. The last twenty years, four
rookies from the WNBA were selected to play in the
elyt four four not one, not two, not three, four,

(37:20):
including Diana Tarassi, who was very public about, Hey, this
is what's going on with Caitlin and then she's gonna
be great at some point. Danna Tarassi was a rookie.
Pretty similar numbers to Caitlin Clark, yet she was able
to be on the team. So was Candace Parker, so
was Brianna Stewart. So they've taken almost somebody every year.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
You mean, a highly decorated collegiate at all, he's coming
to the WNBA.

Speaker 1 (37:44):
We're not bringing Caitlin though, No, no, no, no, no.
It's about experience though, even though every other year we
have brought a rookie. Now, why did they bring these
rookies because obviously they knew players like Stuart Tarassi Parker,
they're gonna be the future of the league. Let's give
them experience so they can carry USA basketball. They could
become big stars and the WNBA can grow a little bit.
So that's the reason why they decided to bring. You know,

(38:06):
that's the reason why they decided to bring because it's
not like they all had a lot of minutes. We're
gonna do that for them. But no, no, we're not
gonna do it for for a girl coming in Caitlyn Clark,
who's twenty two and already is more popular than anybody
else that could just grow the game. We're gonna do
it for these, for these young women, but we're not
gonna do it for her. Tell me that this isn't
them just finding a way to say no. Because players

(38:26):
there's such an anti Caitlyn clarkness for no reason other
than jealousy. There's no other reason because that they should
be acting this way. And tim Usa just made it worse,
just made it worse. This statement by gen Rizzoti. Oh,
it's about experience. Now.

Speaker 3 (38:39):
It wasn't a problem for anybody else. You took these
other You took four other players here. They al turned
out to be great players. They were all rookies though,
but they hadn't done anything in the WNBA. But it
took all of them. Yeah, a lot of the argument, right,
who are you gonna take off? It's like, well, you
can always leave somebody off. I know, you're you know,
in Tarossi's case, you're going for a sixth Olympic medal
and all of this stuff. I mean, there's great history

(39:02):
and looking back, but you got to be forward looking
as well. I thought, you know, we talked about the
Christine Brennan quote.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
Of well, they were worried that the.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
Millions and millions of fans like she quoting the Rock,
We're gonna be upset if she only got a few
minutes of playing time. So that was one of the reasons, Like,
that's just asinine.

Speaker 1 (39:19):
There you can't have with you like looking for a
reason to say no, how can we how can we
say we're not taking her? Because it's the more stories
I hear about this, I just go, I wonder how
many of the women just said we don't want her
on the team, we don't want her on the team.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
And they said, okay, well this is gonna be that'll
come out in the wash. I mean, if someone's gonna
say the quiet part out loud, it's because all of
this other stuff. Like the other part was you know, hey,
you know we were charged not thinking about eyeballs and reach,
but you know, to put the best team together, Like
you could have picked anybody from the bottom of a
w NBA roster in the final two three slots and

(39:56):
you're still gonna crush the world as you do each
and every set of four years. So those arguments got
a fold and you're looking to build basketball, not to
mention that does the ratings and everything. Isn't that part
of funding and what NBC and everybody has to pay
on the next cycle If you show vast improvement on that,

(40:17):
and that helps to fund all Olympic events, training facilities,
et cetera. There's a machine that can get fed in
a much bigger way.

Speaker 1 (40:26):
You could have done all of this like this Olympics
was a chance to say, hey, we're going to put
USA basketball on the map women by bringing Caitlin Clark.
We can do everything. We can still win gold medals,
we can get more people watching, we can get a
great number of viewers jumping on for the last half
of the WNBA season. We can do all of this
right because just think about this. If two months ago

(40:47):
someone said, hey, what do you think about Kaitlyn Clark
coming off of the match. Oh my god, she's gonna
jump into the WNBA. It's gonna be great. She's gonna
be on the Olympic team. Oh no, no, it's not
gonna be on the Olympic team. Wait what that's the
reaction from everybody. Wait, she's not going to be on
the Olympic team. This is USA Basketball hurting themselves, hurting
the WNBA, and this is how it's just gonna go.
I can't believe it can't get out of their own way.

(41:10):
But that's okay. Because if you don't like it, don't
watch it. Exit out bouta Fresca, exit swollen Dome, The
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Karmer. Up
next my buddy Ben Maller, who also had a home
run against the Rangers Tonight Fox
