Boston Celtics are now one win away from the NBA

(01:01):
Finals and ilario'brian Trophy.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
Yay.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
They had just finished off a one oh six ninety
nine win over the Dallas Mavericks. They had a huge
lead at a twenty one point lead in the third quarter,
an incredible frantic rally by the Mavericks, knowing that their
season was on the line. They cut the lead to
three and things look pretty good, and then Luka Doncic

(01:26):
fouled out of the game with just under four minutes
left to go. He gets called for a blocking foul.
We're gonna break it down in a minute. It is reviewed,
it is upheld, and the Mavericks try to stay close,
but the Celtics are just too much down the stretch.
They wind up winning by seven. It's a three games
to none lead for the Celtics. Jason Tatum has a

(01:48):
big game. Jalen Brown has a big game. He hits
a couple of big shots in the final minute to
kind of put the game away. Had a pull up
jumper with a minute left to go that gave the
Celtics a four point lead, and they hit their free
throws from there on out, and that kind of does
it for the Dallas Mavericks. A three to zero lead
for the Boston Celtics. My Celtics, who I picked to

(02:09):
win the NBA title. Just saying my Celtics, I picked
my something. Yeah, you love them, my Cltic Yeah, it's
filthy at this point. I picked the Celtics. I picked
the Celtics. Okay, Frostburg, the Lakers are I know that
tells you how much I knew that Celtics are gonna win.
But as a Nick fan, I picked the Celtics. Come on, man,
picked them last week? How many times I had to

(02:31):
watch the Celtics roll over the Nicks the last thirty
five years. Come on, and it'll keep going because they're
they're really, really good. You saw the postgame interview, who
got it right? Best player on the team? Jaen talked
to Jalen Brown. Oh, so the best player on the team.
So that's three. You guys are gonna caause you guys
are so mad that the cell because you're mad Frostburg

(02:52):
because you're a Laker fan. You're mad because you picked
the Mavericks. So no, I look, well, you took the Celtics.
I can't, Jake, I agree with you. You could have taken that.
You'd be a horrible gambling advisor just taking the other side.
Why for the hell of it, but talk Rady, But
this is where my money is going. Yeah, but you

(03:13):
had to make the arguments inuish and hope. It doesn't matter.
I wanted to see them get their come up. It's no,
it's look the better squad, deeper squad, No poor zingis
doesn't matter. Lucas spent the better part of the fourth
quarter trying to draw a foul uh and complaining for

(03:34):
a file on every offensive possession, and then he's mad
that well one actually got called on him. Is really
what it comes down you and we go to the
check the tail of the tape on that sixth file
and we can we can argue it any way till Sunday.
In the end, you had five. You've got to be
more careful. Uh, just keep yourself in the game. Miss

(03:55):
a couple of open shots down the stretch, Celtics take advantage,
hit free throws and finished the job. Big defensive stands
by Tatum by Brown when they needed them to. Uh.
All in all, just another close but no cigar for
the Dallas Mavericks. So here's the play we're talking about
that's gonna be broken down, and the play that I'm

(04:17):
sure the Mavericks are gonna say, Oh, I can't believe
it was gonna happen. I can't believe there. This is
the play that Luka Doncic fouled out on. It was
Jalen Brown dribbling the ball in the open court, collides
with Luka Doncic. Fould number six is called, it is reviewed,
it is upheld, and Lucas out of the game. No, no, yeah, Frostburg,

(04:40):
we gotta hear it, man, we gotta hear it. I know,
I know you're a Lakers fan, but we got a choice.
We got we gotta hear it. It's a jail. No,
it's a deal. We have to hear I know. Okay, wait, wait, wait,
here's all I get a play here, I'll get to
play it. Hey, an unbelievably bad OFFICI and call happened.

(05:00):
I can't believe they did that. How dare they give
that game to the Celtics. This is what it sounded like. Really,
that wasn't enough to try to bait him that way.
Now you're like Luca, that was you're trying to draw
the foul on the offensive side, and then you went
the other way saying, you know what, if I can't
get one there, they're surely not gonna call one on me.

(05:22):
How do we get it played? I don't understand. I
even bought wings for everybody tonight. How do we get
it played? You got nothing? Asked and answered, yeah. Luca
kind of hops back into the lane thinking he's he's
gonna get contact and then suddenly he's gonna get the charge.

(05:44):
It's not it just doesn't work. Look, you're so exasperated,
right the play. Look, the play is reviewable. I get it.
Luca is mad, and honestly, Luca had to make a
better decision. This is on him because you can debate
the merits of the call all you want, goot, but
it was a block. It was a great play by
Jalen Brown because he makes the decision to dribble into Luca,

(06:06):
who does not have positioning on Well, what's funny is
there there's one angle where it looks like because you
can't see Luca's feet, so it looks like he's gotten
vertical and that he draws the jar and then you
see the reverse and he's literally jumping into Brown's path.
So they had to blow the whistle. And yes it
was a foul lot. He didn't have to, of course

(06:28):
they did. If Jalen Brown is able to dribble around
Luca and and Luca mad adores it, which is what
he should. You gotta go oy okay, you got buy me? Oh,
what can I do? I gotta stay in the game.
That's where you go. Oh, and Luca just lets him
dribble by him and gets the ball. You have to
do that. But say you already have a defender that
filled the lane. You already had your help defense that

(06:49):
was gonna meet Brown at the free throw loge. Look,
this was Luka Doncic coming off of two plays in
which Jason Tatum squarely deed him up and Luca did
not score. I can't I'll tell you how big of
possessions both of these were. This is when the game
was ninety three to ninety and the Mavericks had almost
erased the entire lead, and Luca's got the ball twice

(07:10):
with a chance to either cut the lead to one
or tie the game, and both times Tatum is on
him out on the arc. Luca can't get can't get free,
and he misses. Second time the Celtics miss, they come
back down, give it to Luca. Luca gets caught underneath
Jason Tatum is all over him. He's got nowhere to go.
He tries some kind of slide back fall away jumper

(07:31):
from ten feet away after turning around and it doesn't go.
Those were the two plays that happened previous to this foul.
So you know Luca is mad. You know he's mad
that whatever it didn't get called together. Because the guy
for a guy who gets away with everything every time,
he he pushes off on every play and still when
he gets called for fouley complains. He complains way too
much for a guy that's given all kinds of league,

(07:52):
way as far as what he gets to do offensively.
So you know he was mad for whatever reason. Either
he's mad because he missed, or he's mad that he
thought he was fouled. He's mad, and he may an
emotional decision to try to get in the way and
draw a foul, and that was just stupid. That's where
this is. This is why teams win championships and teams don't.
When your best player makes a bad decision like that
and fouls out of the game. That that's why you don't.

(08:15):
You tried to draw charge at the three point r right,
and and what you want to do that with three fouls? Okay,
you already give it away a couple of which you're
really stupid. You cannot call it what it is, a
couple of really stupid react reach in fouls and like
on your own offense and glass right, you got out rebounded. Yeah,
you might have gotten thought you'd draw drawn a foul.

(08:37):
You didn't. You can't go back and then go slap
at the balls if you needed to be able to know, Okay,
I gotta live to give this up to fight another day.
But when you make them blow the whistle, it may
not go your way. And there was nothing on that
call that makes you think okay, uh hmm, yeah, we
can reverse that and take the foul away. Can The

(08:58):
problem is you at the second angle right, if all
you had was the one angle that was first. Being
like the live action shot, you can be like, okay,
he's vertical and Brown charges into him, and then you
get the reverse and you can see that he's literally
jumping to the left. It's it's the case of I

(09:18):
want to see him what he says after the game,
and say if he says, if he owns it and
says I made a bad decision. I made an emotional
decision to try to make a play where I shouldn't
have or does he say that's a ridiculous call. I
can't believe because you look at the replay and there's
there's no leg for him to stand on. I mean,
even if you are the most even you're the biggest

(09:38):
of Mavericks supporters and the biggest of Laker haters like
like or biggest of Celtics haters like Frostburger is you
have to look at that and go, Okay, there's really
no overwhelming evidence for me to say I can take
that away there there There just isn't. So yeah, of
course they're gonna uphold the foul. The referees at this
point have to shrug their shoulders and go, what did
you want me to do? You got in his way,
you were moving, We look and we call the foul.

(10:00):
We looked at it and it was a foul, and
we upheld it. Do you think we wanted to foul
you out of the game. We wanted to foul you
out of Game three of the NBA Finals. You really
think we wanted to do that. I got Adam Silver
on an earpiece. I get buzzed every time the foul
call and the stars gets over three. I'm doing this
entire fourth quarter. My whole body is you think we

(10:21):
wanted to foul Luca Doncich out of the game. No,
of course not. But he gave us no choice. We
had to blow the whistle. He made a bad decision,
the worst decision that you could possibly make. When you're
the star, you have to stay in the game. If
it's the final thirty seconds, I understand, I understand all
of this. If it's hey, it's a three point lead,
I have to stop them, forget. But this is four minutes, man,

(10:41):
it's four minutes in a three point game. It's nothing.
And as you saw, without him, the Mavericks were still
able to stay close, getting in the final few seconds,
but the Celtics were just a little bit too much
at the end. Where you know, Luca's gotta know, I
gotta stay on the floor. I gotta stay on Well,
they were down four and got a wide open look
for Washington. He missed. It would have made it a
one point game. Instead, rebound the other way, and then

(11:05):
we get to the free throw contest. But yeah, just
from a frustration point, I mean, you and I watching
the game as we were waiting to come on air,
waiting for the odd couple to vacate the seats and
for us to take over. Great stuff. As always that
the physicality in the first half, drawing down towards the

(11:25):
end of the second quarter, a lot of no calls.
We're looking at like guys flying all over. It's like, wow,
they're gonna let him be physical. But at some point
you do draw your third or fourth file and you
have to play smarter. You got four minutes left. Unfortunately,
as much as I'd like to keep you know, superstar
rules and everything, sometimes it's it's too clear. Sometimes it's

(11:47):
too clear. And this one again by benefit of the
second camera angle, because you see a lot of folks
clipping going what is this? It's like, look he said,
He's like no, he's in the air, like he's literally
jumping in to brown spot and like to try to
save my Mavericks pick as much as I could. I
was really willing this one. Nowar's the end. He's like, Look,
they fought back from twenty one down. Look at this.

(12:08):
Look I mean, just just think about this for a second.
Think about this. If you think, oh the rev for
everybody wants the Celtics to win, timeout, timeout, do you
really think the NBA is sitting back going we want
to sweep. We want to sweep. We want the Celtics
to win on a Friday night when no one's gonna
be watching. We want the Celtics to win on Friday night.
That's what we want. This is what we want. And

(12:29):
the no, of course not so. If you're one of
those people who believes, oh you don't foul a guy out,
you don't do the jone to this, understand that there's
no way they The NBA wanted this outcome. They wanted
Luca and Kyrie to go nuts and to score thirty
five apiece and to take this game back to back
to Boston, take the series back to Boston tied to
a piece. This is what they want. They don't want
to foul Luca Dodgitch out of the game. But lookok

(12:51):
picked up four fouls in the fourth quarter. Dude, you
are too emotional. Man. Once you start picking up these fouls,
you gotta say, Okay, I gotta stop, man, I gotta
stop about d I'm like a magnet and I'm just drawn.
You know it was Dicky vs. Eighty fifth. You gotta stop.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
You gotta get a baby. Someone's gotta tie Luca, you
got four. You gotta stop now. You gotta stay back
on defense. You can't get anybody's way. You gotta just
let a guy go buy you. Luca, come on.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
Really because it was funny, right he falls out on
that play. There were a couple of other instances where
he's literally just running around like a little kid, uh,
just crashing into people that they didn't call him for
off the ball, So you know he could have been
filed out a number of times as well. And look,
I I would understand if Jason Kidd and Luca and

(13:38):
his teammates, I'll say, well, there's a lot of contact
and you know, trying to figure out we know where
where the line being drawn. In the end, they called
the files on you. You can only play through what
the whistles are, not what you hope they'd be exit,
a about exit albuta fresca exit swallen down the Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmon. Now, will

(13:58):
Luka doncic own this or you gonna say all these
referees is is someone screaming in the background? Is there
a woman who is near ecstasy? Give this out? He
is meeting the media. Right now, you will hear from
Luca coming up next right here. The Celtics up three
games and none of the finals. It basically ended tonight.
What is Luca going to say about the play in

(14:19):
the NBA season so far? That's next right here, Jason
and Mike Fox.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon live from the tire rack dot Com Studios,
where the Boston Celtics are now one game away from
the NBA title. They hold off the Mavericks one oh
six to ninety nine, Jason Tatum's thirty one and Jalen
Brown's thirty, greater than Kyrie Everything's thirty five, and Luka

(16:01):
Doncic is twenty seven. The big play, of course, in
this game, Luka Doncic fouling out with just under four
minutes left, to go in the game, and I've just
done really nice things for Frostburg. So he's gonna let
us play the highlight. You did really nice things for Frostburg.
What is that Laker fan justin Frostburg where we're gonna
need to allow us one time to play a great

(16:21):
Celtic highlight. We're gonna get one. Pay me off. I'll
be nice to you too. Here was the we have
wings tonight, Just so we know we have Wings tonight. Uh,
here's the play that everybody's talking about. This is the
play that fouled Luka Doncic out of the game with
just under four left. That's gonna get in. You know,
I'm still at the tent. He's cutting back. Must have

(16:45):
New York Jason to be a favor. Bring up tears
for Fears now, that'd be great. No, no, no, no, no, no,
I'm just I'm just stupid. What does everybody want to
do the Jason? No, I'm just stupid. I'm like, oh,
all right, hey, you know we got Wings coming. I
bought Wing again. I'll say it again, I bought Wings tonight.
Everybody's good. Frost has got to play the Wings. I

(17:08):
want just buy it and I move on. I'm like, hey,
I got it well, but yeah, but tonight we have
to make sure we get Celtics highlights played because you know,
we got to hear them because that's how the game went.
We can't make it up like it went a different way,
like this is getting our own dramatic recreations, like this
is the AI show. We can't do it. So the
play that we're talking about, and I have no idea

(17:29):
we're gonna get it. No, you're not kidding. Oh, we're
gonna go. We're gonna get Okay, I'm till we're gonna
get it. TI, let's try one more time. Here comes
a butt fumble. H here's Luka Doncic fouling out of
the game with just under four minutes left.

Speaker 7 (17:41):
Here is Crown out of control, going to the ground.
A blocket found he's done. With four to twelve remaining,
Luka Doncic has fouled out of Game three of the
NBA Finals.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
Celtics Radio Network on the call. Yes, they go back
and look at it. It is upheld, Luca is out
and the Mavericks do not have enough at the end
and the Celtics win. You know, this was an historic
kind of thing. I like historic. Yes, Yes, Celtics underdogs
were underdogs tonight one and a half points. Playoff underdogs

(18:17):
on a nine plus game winning streak, have never covered
or won a game straight up. They were zero to
eight oh seven and one against the number before tonight,
So we're gonna play a little bit. Luka Doncic met
the media for two minutes. Okay, Luca met the media
for two minutes. He just got done a few seconds ago.

(18:39):
He just got done. Let's bet for a dollar. Does
Luca take ownership of fouling out? Or does he blame
the referees? He's gonna say, why didn't I get that
call on the other way?

Speaker 3 (18:49):
Other end?

Speaker 1 (18:51):
So you're saying he gives it, he doesn't own it.
Does he own it or not? Does he ownly he
made a bad decision putting himself in harm's way to
get a sixth foul, which was a stud a decision
by him. Or does he say does he say, I'll
look look at the referee. They're taking this series from us.
I'm gonna say the former. I was hoping it was
the latter, but i'd seen a little clip of him

(19:11):
just kind of mussing his hair and looking like guilty.
It's the it's these small market teams that are getting
are getting screwed man like big market Boston. Tell you
all the calls. Oh yeah, I'm pulling out everything from
the Rick Carlisle playbook right now, seventy eight plays. Uh now,
now wait a minute, now, wait a minute. Now, you
know who could have made this call? Right Let's well,

(19:32):
let's say, hey, here's the call for fouling out. Here's
a call for fouling out. Okay, we're gonna go look
at it. And then the referees going they put the
headsets on and they go, uh, what do we see
on this play? And the voice comes to the other
side going, uh, yeah, that was a that was a
foul on the on on the Luca kid. Yeah, he's
got to leave the game. And uh uh Now the
Cowboys won't be the only team well without a championship

(19:54):
this calendar year here, uh, because you know, stars are
out and uh Mavericks are just one game away from
being out. Jimmy, is this you? Uh yeah, yeah, I'm
I'm Jimmy. Uh he's not tied up in the corner
with one hundred dollars bill stuffed in his mouth. No, no,
this is uh this yeah, this is Jimmy right here.
Uh yeah, so that's uh, that's what's going on. And
and before you ask me anymore, I'm all in on

(20:16):
this season. What Jimmy, what are you talking about? We
just want to know about the player. Yep, Nope, foul
all in, But your definition of all in may be
different from my definition of all in. Okay, so you're saying,
uphold the foul, Yes, uphold the foul. Up, hold it,
I'm hold it all right. Hey, Jimmy, that was great
right here. You keep that money. And remember I was
never here. I was never here. But scootly boot scooty boot,

(20:37):
scootly boot, scootly bo jing back to the Scooby Doo done,
bags out. What do you want to say? Well, took
care of that, hey, Steven. Uh just want to let
you know, hey, pressures off. We don't have to give
Dack any money. Don't got to give seed Lamb any
money because the Mavericks ain't gonna win. That was pretty
were okay going you know, you went full Wayne's world.
There is what I was looking for. Yeah, yeah, it's done,

(20:58):
you know they may have gotten away with it for
those snooping kids over there. But now, just so you know,
we don't have to get the headlines from anybody. We
can hold onto the money. Hey, that uh offer you
had ready to fax to see these people. Just tear
it up and we'll figure it out after this year.
I want you to eat it. I don't trust you
tearing it up, Steve, and I want I want you.
I want to do it on the FaceTime. I want

(21:18):
to see you show me the piece of paper, and
I want you to eat it. And I want to
make sure. Okay, let me see it. I'll hang on.
How do I do the fan? How do I turn
the phone? All I see is myself? How do I turn?
How do I turn the phone to the how? Okay? Okay,
oh Steven, that is that you? Okay, wait a minute
right here? Okay, oh boy boy, I look like I
got to hold it up you Now. I know why
people hold the phones up here, because everybody looks heavy

(21:38):
when you hold it from down below, you see every
buddy's chin, so they hold it all up. Oh now
I see it. Okay, all right, Steven, eat the piece
of paper. Eat that ceedy lamb contract offer Steven. Jerry
Jones had to get him in somehow. Huh replay official.
I'm just telling this that how that's that's how I want.
You want to suggest while you're at it, Jerry that
uh Luca after complaining she'd uh be suspended for game four. Hey,

(22:02):
well he's already done three nothing, it's over now. Maybe
Jerry was actually officiating the fourth quarter like like de
Niro getting on the field in the fan or Van
dam getting on the field and getting on the ice
and sudden death.

Speaker 7 (22:12):
I do like.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
It's a second time this week we've gotten that blocking foul,
blocking foul on the dottage and then he starts laughing,
got another foul, Bobby, Hey, but you call some fowls
on Kyrie. Now you're not gonna make enough shots at
the end and say we got I got to get
the Dodgage kid out. That's good. Now, Now only one

(22:36):
Dallas team won a championship and the range is went
it months ago, So it's okay. Now it's all Dallas
all the time. How about the Bobby. But okay, so
you're taking what side for for look, I'll take the
boy that was dumb that actually okay? He owns it
as much as we can expect someone to own. Okay, okay, okay,

(22:58):
So I'll take the guests, I let you take whatever.
That's the thing I just saw him doing, like looking
up just a lot of yeah while he was trying
to talk for those two. Could have been the lady
screaming in the background, you know. Or he could have
been looking for his beer. He could have been, hey,
could someone, could someone go get Michael Finley? I really
need that beer because someone go fucked him. All right,

(23:20):
here's Luca a couple of minutes, and you're still mad
at Michael Finley, treating him like a child's Maybe he's
mad at Brian Fennley could be mad at anybody. I
want some dollar dollar bills. But before we get to
Fedley and what's trending, let's hear Luca Dodge. All right,
So for a dollar I win if Luca blows it off. Okay,
you win if he owns it to an extent. So
what if it's both though, Well, well you decide, Frostburg,

(23:42):
you decide you're the judge. Oh, Harmon wins it. I
bought wings Man, Yeah, but you're you're Celtics. Screw it.
You're out now, ty shirt, you decide, Okay, do I
have to listen to it first? Oh my goodness, this
is okay? Okay, okay, Well if I don't that Harmon wins.
Let's just let's just play it and we'll let the
fates decide. Hop youw ler. Let's hear from Luca.

Speaker 3 (24:04):
Every time they enjoy it, you basica call the fall,
so I try to be better them, So I gotta
get better.

Speaker 1 (24:17):
Okay, Stan right there for a second, sarmery there second
art so not really owning it, but not really not. Yeah,
that's real half ass. Every time every time we went
in they called a foul, that's I have to be better.
Wait a minute, that's kind of Hey, it's their fault,
but I have to be better. So that so far
put advantage like Nick MacKaye would say, advantage push okay,

(24:37):
so so far as sports, let's pick it.

Speaker 8 (24:39):
Up the middle of here, Blake Kelly one O five
through the fan, Luca, just take us through right here
and another just take us through your emotions when you
fall out of the game and you see your team
trying to fight back into it.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
Yeah, that had a good chance when over close. Uh,
just didn't get those shows out there.

Speaker 2 (25:05):
Any other questions for Luca got Tim right here first, rap.

Speaker 9 (25:13):
Tim McMahon, ESPN.

Speaker 2 (25:15):
Luca, what did you think of the whistles.

Speaker 9 (25:17):
That went against you in the fourth quarter?

Speaker 3 (25:21):
I mean, yeah, I don't know. We couldn't play physical,
so I don't know. I don't want to say nothing,
but you know, six follow in the NBA Finals, basically,
I'm like this, come on, man, better than that.

Speaker 9 (25:44):
You know, you guys came out cooking in the in
the first quarter, I think twenty five points to like
seven minutes. What happened to make you know, to bog
down the offense? Well, you know what happened to make
score more difficult there? I think we should just kept playing,
you know, with the same energy. You know, came the
same people in We were rolling down there. Uh well

(26:06):
then they came back.

Speaker 3 (26:07):
You know, at some point we were down twenty one
to two in the fourth quarter and we came back.
So we're gonna still believe till the end.

Speaker 1 (26:15):
I win, I win, you lose. Come on, man, NBA Finals.
You can't give me a six fall of the NBA
SF like that. I win, you you lose, Come on, man,
six foll in the NBA Finals. Like, hey, I don't
even need to disguise this as some kind of obduse reference.
I'm gonna make hey, Adam Silver, come on, I'm luka

(26:36):
doncics man six files in the NBA finals. You can't
call that on. You know what, don't give you your dollar,
That's fine. I'll venmo you I a dollar. I'll just
you another show dollar. Dollar. I'll take that dollar now
because I had a lot of wings and no, no,
we're gonna we'll go salty as soon as dollar. We're
done with dollar. I want to take care of that.

(26:57):
And then you'll let that. You'll owe me thirty five
cents whatever piracy does to be over there. No, I
take the thirty five cents. Okay, okay, that's fine. I
mean that's a lot of vigue, man, thirty five cents
for a five minute wait to pay off of bet.
But I just like the fact, and I like Luca
Moore now though, just saying come on, I mean come on,

(27:23):
like he didn't really go full in. It's like, don't
you know who I am? It's all in play. Come on,
that was awesome. I got that's a great because it
was a push through the first question. Second question sucked, man,
what's your emotions watching it? Unless you're really just hoping
you get the money quote of I'm blanking pissed because

(27:46):
I'm sitting on the sideline after a BS file call
like he's not gonna go full in there like this
is not a few good men. You hadn't buttered him
up and really gotten him excitable that he was gonna
suddenly rail against the efficient because even with the come on,
he only went half in to their to their defense.
He was doing that interview from his car. Did sound yeah? Yeah, no,

(28:11):
I was. That was bad. I mean he had that
twenty seconds of trying to hand off a Michael Here's
anybody Does anybody want to ask him? Tip?

Speaker 9 (28:21):
Tip?

Speaker 1 (28:21):
Tim running hearing up Tim and I just want to
gotta grab that grab the Oh, Luca, can you uh
tell us about the emotions that you were going through
after that? If I'm Luka, I would say, what do
you think my emotions were? Banke you, bank you, ban you.
I didn't make you feel to fall out. I was

(28:44):
really happy, you know, I was really tired, and it
was a lot of pressure shot I turned for the
contusion was starting to wear off, so, you know, and
I realized I'm getting paid a lot of money win
or lose. So yeah, I was okay with actually coming
out of the game. I actually tried to foul out.
I mean that why I was at that point. I
was theory testing. Yeah, after I picked up my four,

(29:05):
They're like, they're not gonna call it. I mean, let's
see what I mean, guys, I'm exhausted, like I played
a lot and and you know, so I only had
two fouls going to the fourth quarter. I knew I
had to step up and took them a long time
to call those four fouls. Times you gotta take one
for the team. I was no, I was more than happy. Hey,
and I look, honestly, I thought Kyrie would do it.
Everybody says, ow, great Kyrie and says, okay, here's your chance, Kyrie,
you go do it. Oh, I thought Kyrie would do it. No,

(29:27):
the guy miss shots. Okay to assists, that's it. I
didn't do it. Thirty five points to assists as a team,
fifteen assists, six fouls in the NBA Finals. Don't you
know why? So good? So Hey, come on, come on.
It says it on my page Luca Dante. I'm getting
a shirt made tomorrow. It just says, I mean, come on,

(29:50):
come on, I'm great with that because you know about
an office tickets. Well, I said Michael Scarn, Michael Scarn,
Scott Scarn, Michael Scart threat level Midnight, Michael Scar you star.
You know who I am. I'm Luca bleeping tontage man.

(30:12):
He does the whole. Hey, you kid, I'm Mo Green.
I'm getting a massage. I'm Mo Green. Sorry, Mo Green,
You're not motive shot. Next time people are gonna see you,
Mo Green is when your Joe's dad and the facts
of life. Good luck. I'm Mo gnic like I did
for Alex. Nicely done. So there was Raka, one of
the great cartoon voice actors of all time. Too. Not

(30:33):
owning it is Look at six foult, dude, it's your fault.
I really would have liked him to own it. NBA
stars own it when they do it. I can't do it. No,
what's a better narrative? Where will people blame me less?

Speaker 2 (30:44):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (30:44):
Yeah, the referee screwed us? Coming up next? Well, well
you know we'll we'll we'll lay out what the dog
spread should be. Plus an incredibly large story from the
NBA tonight that we need to get into. Keep it
right here. It's a big must listen NBA Night Jason
and Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon live from the tire rack dot Com Studios.
We'll have more on Game three of the NBA Finals
with Rick Buker stopping by in about twelve minutes, but
really quick.

Speaker 2 (31:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (31:23):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
We find out today that all suddenly Joey Chestnut's not
done eating hot dogs. He's gonna have a hot dog
eating kai impossible hot dog eating contest with Kobe Yashi. Yeah,
Labor Day weekend. Now to think that Kobyashi's gonna win,
forget the guy hasn't competed really well in years. He
retired a month ago, and now I'm sure Netflix gave
him a dump truck full of money to say, can

(31:45):
you eat hot dogs really fast? One more time? So
this is what we have coming up Labor Day weekend.
There has to be a point spread or a dog spread.
Because there's no way Kobyashi wins, and I would say
you would probably have to give You would probably go,
oh man, at this point, you would have to say,
it's a twenty point dog spread, a twenty dog spread,
like I would favor Joey Chess up by twenty hot

(32:06):
dogs over Kobyashi. I wrote it down earlier. I think
it's the you gotta bet a thousand to win one hundred, okay,
and then kobayashe is plus five to fifty, so bet
one hundred win five fifty. Uh So I haven't seen
the actual dog spread. I just saw the odds. I

(32:26):
do appreciate, though, the CBC headline Chestnut Kobayashi to compete
in Netflix competition under the title of quote unfinished beef unquote,
because I mean, they haven't battled since two thousand and nine.
It's been a minute, and isn't uh don't you think
they will have at the end like it's a super Bowl,

(32:48):
like when the super Bowl ends and they go to
like here's a new show, like they would go to
like season two of Beef. Oh that's spreaday, I don't
forget hey, Season two of Beef from Here is right
after US right here. Yeah, I wait, there's gotta be
something the undercard though, No, no, no, I think if
you're got live but you got live events, right yeah,
because you're trying to really build into that. You had
the roast, You've had some other things. Sure, you've got

(33:11):
the Mike Tyson fight now rescheduled for November, for now,
for now, but they put a date on it, so
that's good. Just keeps giving me hope. I just went
umbridge on you for now now done, one of the
greatest villains of all time. But for this, I want
an undercard. Let's get some non non real eaters. Let's

(33:33):
get some some former athletes that want to you know,
down some hot dogs or hamburgers or whatever the case
may be. I just saw a guy trying to take
down some crazy ass nine burger monstrosity. See how that
went for him and for his intestines out of that.
But I don't know. I got kind of excited when

(33:53):
this hit today, twenty dog twenty dog spread. It's a
twenty dog spread. We'll have more on this can made
me a little bit. I'm gonna see if I you
can get that, you can get now. Look, we're like
I said, we're gonna talk to Rick Bucker coming up
in a few minutes. We're gonna talk about the game
in Game three and Lucas foul fouling out of the game,
but obviously we'll spend some time with him. With Jerry West,
one of the greatest NBA legends of all time who

(34:14):
passed away earlier today at the age of eighty six,
and one of the things that is not talked about
enough for him when it comes to his legacy, because
you hear as a player, was he a better executive?
Everything he did as an executive, But to think about
how he was the one responsible for not just the

(34:36):
success of Kobe Bryant, but getting Kobe to the Lakers,
which changed the course of the NBA. Like you know, yeah,
you guys believe in Kobe Bryant. Yeah, we will see
Kobe's career. But in nineteen ninety six, which is one
of the most loaded drafts in NBA history, you see
anywhere to say, what are the greatest drafts ever? Ninety
six comes up. You had so many other great players
in that draft. Iverson was in that draft, and here's

(34:58):
Kobe who is coming out of high school and that
was still a thing that nobody really knew about the
year before Kevin Garnett was drafted out of high school. Right,
that was the first time leave here he gonna be
He had an okay rookie here. He averaged ten points
a game his rookie year. But it's not like he
came to the league and Dominie wasn't Lebron James. So

(35:18):
taking a high school player was seen as a huge risk,
and it was a it was a huge chance you
were taking. And not only did the Lakers know going in,
Jerry West said this is the guy we have to get.
They made the deal with the Hornets who were going
to take Kobe Bryant at thirteen, and they were going
to trade Vodi Devots for Kobe and the rest is
NBA history. But to make that decision and to know
that if you're Jerry West who said this guy's gonna

(35:41):
be the best player in the league one day, that
this was their guy that they were teaming with Shack.
They had just signed Shack as a free agent. So
Shaq is a Laker and it's like, Okay, who are
you giving him? Who's the guy? And it's a it's
an unproven kid, out of high school that Jerry West says,
this is the guy that's going to be the best
player in the league. Like to have that kind of

(36:01):
vision and to be that that insistent upon it, and
that changed the course of the NBA back when taking
a kid out of high school was a risk. And
this is the guy. You're not going to get someone
whos been in the league a couple years to play
with Shaquille O'Neil. You're gonna give him a kid out
of high school. And look at how that decision turned out.
But I mean, look at all the other attempts to
try to replicate that. Most of the time they're disastrous,

(36:24):
or guys become functional NBA players on their third team
six and a half years later, they find the piece.
They become a rotational piece. Right. The Bulls tried it
a couple of times, miserable failures, guys that couldn't play.
You have to go back, you know, based on rule
changes and everything else. You know what what you had

(36:46):
to kind of fight through. And you had a couple
of guys that succeeded. But those were twenty years prior
to that, right, And so to know that Kobe was
going to be that guy. To be able to get
that trade made still one of the great days. And
you want to talk conspiracy theories when you get into
all your your fun and exciting things of frozen envelopes

(37:09):
or whatever else. Really, Kobe ended up as a Laker.
I know it's the hindsight twenty twenty, but it was
such a risk at the time, and for Jerry West
to say, no, this is what we need to do.
And it's like to think about that at the time,
but yeah, it's a high school kid and we're taking
a rink. Okay, Hey, thirteen teams could have taken Kobe right,
so you knew he was a mid first round pick.
He wasn't like we got to take him number one.

(37:31):
You know, Hey, they had seen Kevin Garnett, and Kevin
Garnette wasn't great yet. And to know that then to
say this is the vision, Like he doesn't get enough
credit for changing the NBA with that. And I really
don't care if these guys get along or not. They're
gonna be great together, man, because I can see it.
Rest in peace, Jerry West, mister clutch eighty six years old,
Jason Smith, Mike Harmon Live from the Tirack dot Com
Studios coming up next. Was it a great call that

(37:54):
Luka Doncic fouled out? Anyway, the maps can get back
in it. Rick Bucker is next with us Fox
