incredible sports that I know so much about and covers
so much are live tonight. What a treat for regular
(00:59):
listeners of and Mike to have our inside information. Arnie
on the hockey draft, right.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
We've got the expert on the hockey draft, expert.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
The Craftsman truck series, I'm the expert on that too,
right were they were they racing again?
Speaker 3 (01:16):
They're racing. They're racing.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
Okay. In the US, we've got Olympic trials going on tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
I'm the Olympic Trials expert on that.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
We got Brazil soccer Copa America. Of course, We've got
tyed Gen tonight. So we're good to go, Arnie. As
far as the Island of Misfit toys, kind of like
the sports world here tonight, it really is.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
I like it, you know, other little stuff we can
hit on and different stories. It's not so much the
same because coming up in a month or so, it's
going to be all NFL in college football all the time.
So I do love that, like seven eight straight months
of football. So it's good to get some other stuff in.
I'm kind of you know, I'm excited about the Olympics.
I'm I'm starting to get pumped up about that. We
(01:56):
got a couple of local people out here in Vermont
that are going to be in the Olympics. I'm excited.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Yeah, Arnie sent a note this week about the local
Vermont what is it marathon.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
Or yeah, you didn't answer me.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
I you know what. I got your text like two
days later there's something we are going on with my phone.
I'm still a poor when it comes to my phone.
But I'm not that into the Olympics. Like I wouldn't
be able to say, hey, running far, what's that? Like you,
I'd probably run out of content pretty quick. But I'm
you know, when you see the crowds that are at
the gymnastics and you see how we're developing some storylines
(02:32):
with some different opportunities and with our teams, I mean,
I'm here for it, Arnie. I think it's going to
be a fun couple of weeks.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
No, I've watched a little bit of the trials and
one of the Elie's Saint Pierre. She's the mayor or,
she's the runner, not marathon runners, she's one of the runners,
and right up there she'll be pushing for the gold.
And then we have a rower too, So that's that's
kind of fun up here. He was at the Vermont
Lake Monster Games doing interviews, So I just enjoy it.
(03:01):
It's also a good gap until you get into football
and you get things going out there.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Well, I've got some football topics tonight, so I bet
you do. Yeah, I bet well. I did go through
for those that aren't familiar, Arnie and I do a
show every Sunday night here on Fox Sports Radio, same
time slot, only we're an hour later. Does that make
timke to one a Central time Jason and might get
that bonus hour. But Arnie has been consistently all in
(03:29):
on destroying everything but Dolphins talk. I mean, if I
try to talk about anything else football related, and I
think you'll admit to this, right, you pretty much implode
it with Dolphins talk, It's all you want to talk about.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
And now we get to talk about Skinny Tua. But
if you've noticed all my teams, like in the ten
or eleven years we've been doing the show, this is
the best run I've had on all my teams in
one year, in like a decade. It's it's incredible. I mean,
I could be winning the NCAA Championship in football, my
(04:04):
Dolphins winning the Super Bowl, my Knicks definitely winning the championship.
I already texted or On, I tweeted our boss telling
him I'm gonna need next June off to go to
the Knicks parade. So I already already went that.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Okay, well before we get to the Knicks and I know,
I've got to give your Knicks their flowers, their kudos because.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
They're great, go to a lot of buy season tickets.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Okay, well, we're gonna get there. We're gonna get there.
And I'm sure that those who regularly listen in this
time slot, including Frostburg, is probably sick and tired of
hearing about the Knicks and the Mets.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
But yeah, shut up, Arnie.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Yeah, on Jason's Night Off, they bring in a Knicks
and a Mets homer to sit in. So sorry about that, dude.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
But real New Yorker. So with that in mind, yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
With no you you claim everywhere, you claim Palisades, you
claim the Bronx. I don't really know where you're from.
I don't know if you're a real person.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
But you know he wants a dated Genie bust. Did
you know that?
Speaker 2 (05:02):
I know he claims that. I know he claims that, Arnie.
Are you in a buyer sell mode with the contract
negotiations for TUA? I know you're not wanting to get
too much in the NFL tonight, but I figured if
I'm gonna talk NFL and I know I'm gonna get
stuck having everything somehow Someway segue back to the Dolphins.
It's gonna end up being a major conversation over the
(05:23):
next few weeks.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Yeah, I don't like it. First of all, I thought
they had were close or they were real close to
getting something worked out months ago, and then it was
just a matter of you know, crossing the t's and
dot in the eye. So maybe I misunderstood that, Chris,
let's start there because I thought they were really close
in getting something done, So I might have misunderstood it.
(05:44):
I think we had talked about that, so correct me
if I'm wrong on that. But you got to give
him the money. I mean, you're talking about how important
quarterbacks are, and you can start from the beginning. And
I even go back a couple of years ago when Tua,
before he got hurt, and I know it was a
short sand size that year, had great offensive statistic numbers
and was leading the NFL and just about everything. Last
(06:07):
year he put up great offensive numbers, top three in
just about everything. He didn't get hurt, he proved himself.
I'm really not sure what the Dolphins are hesitant about.
You got to give him the money, and you got
to make him happy. I don't like, what's going on here?
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Well, I'll tell you what. It's one of five. I
made you a top five list for the show tonight
because that's what you're contractually obligated to do. It is
during this time of year. And since you didn't what
since your idea for a top five list on Sunday
Night was top five worst ways to die based on
the dude literally losing, I guess because of over excitement.
(06:45):
He died after winning four million dollars on a slot machine.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
The news as it was only four millions.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
That's it. That's it. It wasn't like say a lot of
money or anything.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
No, no, nothing like that.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
But I've got the top five teams that are filled
with hope, the top five NFL teams who fan bases
are filled with hope. And then you will decide an
hour three to This is a three hour tease, very
unique in the business. All right, Never delicate because it's
three and then you got to remember the teas. But
(07:16):
I've got five teams that I think are the most
hope filled teams right now, and you decide if we're
popping that balloon, if we're going to implode it, or
if you say, hey, get crazy hopium's incredible this time
of year. Buy in. I'm gonna go ahead and give
it number one. I'm gonna go ahead. I'm gonna go
ahead and warn you the number one team with its
fan base that appears to be filled with the most hope.
(07:38):
I don't even know if they're gonna have a winning
record this year.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Alright, well, I already know who that is.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Right, Steelers.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
So I don't want to give that away, but go ahead.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
So, and if you guys want to jump in eight
seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine
ninety six six three sixty nine, you can hit us
up on Twitter. Arn'tie is at stinking Genia if we
still call it Twitter at stinking Genius. Want him at
Plank Show. Everyone should go. While I was at Fox
Sports Radio, okay, to the timely topics, everyone's fighting about it.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Everyone's yet numerals tonight. By the way, I put four,
I added one more, so we should have fourteen. I
added Joey chested up for number fourteen.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
Okay, that's good. So and again Arnie does the Roman
numeral rundown and by Roman numerals for some reason, and
his terrible handwriting I don't even know what like number
four was.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
What were you even trying to say on number number oh, Philipowski,
no at all?
Speaker 2 (08:26):
Okay, there must have been number five. Your spacing was off, Arnie,
your spacing was off today from my old man eyes.
But no, the Roman numeral three. Bronni, Yes, Kenny, play
will even make it? Is it worth fighting about? Should
it even be a debate? What's your takeaway? Surprise level zero? Right,
(08:47):
But what'd you take away from the last twenty four
hours since lebron James Son Bronni was drafted in the
second round by the Lakers.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
You know what was interesting? First of all, I'm paying attention.
I'm watching the draft. I wanted to see what would happen.
I wanted to see there were action. I happened to
have a basketball game, so I go to my game,
but I still got my phone and I'm paying attention.
The pick comes in, and I mean, like, the gym
all went crazy. The Lakers did it. They took Broddy.
They took Broddy, and you're like, half the guys he
(09:16):
doesn't deserve it. Half the guys like, oh, that's so cool.
I can't wait to watch, you know, I have a
little bit of a different perspective. First of all, you
know people are talking about nepotism and stuff like that. Yeah,
of course we know that's that goes on in just
about every you know, every form of job and occupation
out there, so that does go on. You know, I
(09:39):
had a son who played hockey. He was a goalie.
I would have done anything, Chris. And you know this,
any called, anybody sent anybody an email or tweet, I
would have called. I would have gone to the Lebron's
house himself had I thought that he would have been
able to get my kid to try out in the NHL. Now, unfortunately,
(09:59):
when you're a holy Chris, there's really not a lot
of room for just putting my kid on the roster.
There's only two goalies on the squad, so you really
gotta play. There's there's there's noel. But you know he
could be a project or something like that, so you
really gotta go ahead and play and be NHL ready.
But I mean it was a second round pick. I
understand where he's coming from, I think, and it's a
(10:21):
great story. And and like I said, I would have
done nothing different if that was my son who I
thought could play, and I did. Chris, you know that
I said, I said, NHL players, emails, tweets, something never
even got back to me. I'm like, hey, my name's
Artie Spatner from Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Oh your name dropping Fox Sports Radio?
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Yeah yeah, don't tell the boss. Totally name dropping Fox
Sports Radio, hoping that they could take my call. Or
you know, oh, I hear this guy's from Fox. You know, baby,
let's see if we can help this guy. Some people
would even return. It would even say hey, like no,
another like do your kid sucks? I could even get
that from some people. So I know where Lebron's coming from.
(11:05):
You just want the best for your kid. Now. I
do like Brodny. I think he's got a great head
on his shoulders and stuff like that. I'm hoping he
does make it in the NBA. I think he could
be like a journeyman and maybe when Lebron does retire,
he can go somewhere else and be his own guy.
I think he'd be better served if he played, like
(11:27):
on a Detroit team or a team that's not very good,
where he got to get some playing time, some meaningful minutes,
get up and down the court, you know, be able
to make mistakes where maybe the media is not gonna
breathe down your neck. But there's there a bad team
out there, Chris. You know, so I think he'd be
better served with that. But I understand where he's coming from.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
His dad.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
You know, they want to play together. It's it is
kind of a story. So I do agree with that.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
It is.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
So I'm not as outraged as everybody else because, like
I said, I wanted this from my I wish I
could have done this. I wish I could have done
more to go ahead and help him get in the NHL.
But it is so tough, and you know, I do
see the other side where there's kids. I mean, look
at his teammate, a USC forget his name off the
(12:15):
top of my head, average like fifteen or sixteen a game,
didn't even get drafted. There's gonna be people like that
that're gonna be resentful. But that's part of life, Chris.
I mean, it happens all the time. Happens in our
occupation too. You want to talk about nepotism and broadcasting,
it's all over the place. So you either got to
fight through it and continue or you could just go
(12:38):
oh woe's me and have it destroy your life. So look,
Brody's been giving a golden opportunity and he take advantage
of it. That that's what it's about. Even Joe Buck says, Look,
have I got here because of nepotism? Absolutely, But I'm
here because I was able to keep the job because
I'm good at it. So you know, it's historic. I
(13:00):
think it's it's a good story out there. I wish
BRODDI the best, but I still think he'd be better
served if he could have gone to a different team.
And you know, got some meaningful minutes out there.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
So Arnie Spaniel, Lebron James like one and the same
is what I took from Yeah.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
Yeah, just like Bron. Absolutely. Like I said, had I
known Lebron could have gotten my kid into the NHL,
I would have walked right to his house and right
in the door bell and saying, Lebron, Lebron, Artie's pat
your Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Radio, have you heard
of me? You may have heard of me, and could
you give you a kid? Fox Sports Radio? That I
(13:36):
mentioned that I'm kind of a big deal, just asked me.
So I would have totally done that. I wish. Thank goodness,
the boss doesn't know this count listen to this slot.
I would have totally I would have totally done that.
I every time I sent an email, I would start, uh,
Fox Sports Radio, Arnie Spaniard, anybody help, just anybody, Yeah,
(13:56):
give me a hand, Somebody do something to get my
kid the NHL. And I just couldn't do it. I
just couldn't pull it off. So I know where he's
coming from.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
You guys, Arnie spaniel lebron James like one of the same.
Here was Lerovolka, the general manager of the Lakers, who
explained why the Lakers like Bronnie is a prosper.
Speaker 5 (14:15):
Ronnie is first and foremost a person of high character,
and second, he is a young man that works incredibly hard,
and those are the qualities we look for in drafting
players and adding to our developmental core at the Lakers.
He had a great draft work out with us where
he displayed those qualities to me in an hour lunch
(14:37):
that we shared in the building just to get to
know each other. Became clear that he was a man
of character in terms of his work. I think I
think we've all seen that lived out too. He's not
a person that has ever taken shortcuts, or expected or
been entitled about basketball opportunities. He's worked for everything that
he's gotten, including being selected today at fifty five, an
(15:00):
honor for us to add him to our program. Coach
Reddick is already excited about putting a development plan around
him to increase his basketball skills and turn him into
the player that we think can impact and help this franchise.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
I know that soundbites bade the rounds. I think I
even heard Jason and Mike played last night, but boy,
that is an absolute mess. All right. When we come
back to the tyrack dot com studios, we got breaking
news involving a trade and kudos to Arnie. Be sure
to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with
Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific
(15:37):
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. Hey, what's
up everybody? It's me three time Pro Bowl of.
Speaker 6 (15:44):
Levarrington, and I couldn't be more excited to announce a
podcast called Up on Game?
Speaker 2 (15:50):
What is up on Game?
Speaker 6 (15:51):
You asked, along with my fellow Pro bowler TJ. Hutchman,
Zada and Super Bowl champion Yep that's right, Plexico Burris.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
You can only name a show with that type of
talent on it.
Speaker 6 (16:02):
Up on Game We're going to be sharing our real
life experiences loaded with teachable moments.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
Listen to Up on Game with me LeVar Arrington.
Speaker 6 (16:12):
T J. Hutchman's Ada and Plexico Birds on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast from.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
No, already, we got a little bit of off season trade.
I guess it's not a trade when we're talking about
free agents. We got a little tease going on about
the future of Klay Thompson that's coming out. Oh here
in moments. Wait, it doesn't matter to you because you
already know where he's going, right, Is that what you're
gonna tell me? You already know where Clay Thompson's gonna
(16:44):
end up. Oh yeah, I got I got a feeling
already in Plank sitting in for Jason and Mike. The
whole crew is here tonight.
Speaker 4 (16:51):
I was.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
It was funny because Frostburg and I will communicate a
lot on Twitter, and whenever you and I have had
any opportunity to fill in for Jason and Mike, usually
Justin's got the night off. As well as maybe ty shirt.
So it's you know, it can be it can be
a little bit of a fill and crew, or I'll
be with Mike or you'll be with Mike. Whenever Jason
(17:14):
takes some time off. I realize it's the first time
that Frosburg and I have DM at each other in
two years.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
So we're ready to go though, Baby, We're on fire
from the ti rack dot com studios and that's a
great way to get in touch with Arnie and I
tonight at Steinkingenius one at Plank Show at Fox Sports Radio.
According to Mark Stein, longtime ESPN dude now doing I
will say his own thing. I think is what like
the New York Times. But according to the steinline, Clay
(17:46):
Thompson wants to play with the Dallas Mavericks. So Detroit
and Dallas have now agreed on the trade that sent
Tim Hardaway Junior to the Pistons. Can you imagine getting
traded to the Pistons. But now again, I think there's
some connecting of dots here a little bit, and people
are trying to lay out that these moves the Mavericks
(18:09):
are making to clear out a little bit of space
to maybe create an opportunity, But what would you make
of the fit of Clay Thompson in Dallas. I don't
know how financially they could make that work.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
I was gonna say, he's not taking a discount to
go there, right, he's going to get the max and
what is it a four year deal or and and
look at the injuries he's coming back from.
Speaker 4 (18:31):
Now.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
I know he had a good end of the year
with the last two three months of the year. You
do have to wonder, though, at that age, is somebody
going to be worth it? And with the money they're
throwing around with some of these guys in the NBA,
you know, I'm more you know, thinking about giving him
the money than not giving him the money. Rather give
it to him than some scrub that I'm not gonna
(18:53):
know going to be able to perform why Clay was
so I'll take my chances to probably roll the dice
and give him the money here.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
This is what mark Stein said. Free agent interest in
Thompson from Orlando and Philadelphia has long been expected why
they have salary cap space, Philly needs more shooters, but
it's believed that his preference if he does leave the
Bay Area, is to stay in the Western Conference, so
(19:20):
he would be an essentially direct competition with the other
holdovers from the Warriors' dynastic run. As laid out, the
Denver Nuggets have weighed a potential free agent pursuit of
Klay Thompson.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
Oh, how crazy would that be?
Speaker 2 (19:36):
I don't think I complain about that. And here's the
note on the Mavericks. The latest evidence of Klay Thompson's
interest in the Mavericks. It's a growing belief league wide
that Thompson's relationship with the Warriors is irretrievable. Strong mutual
interest between Thompson and Mavericks is expected when free agency
(19:59):
OH opens Sunday night.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Oh, make no mistake about it. If the if Golden
State wanted him back, he would have been back by now.
He would have signed something. They would have given something
that he was I would have find acceptable. And you
know what, they probably would have gotten a hometown discount. Also,
I don't think they had to come up with the
full max. I don't think they even had to come
up with the best offer compared to some of the
other teams out there. But something went wrong and I
(20:24):
feel like clave Fields and I don't know this for
a fact. But I think Clay Fields, you know, is
shortened or disrespected, and he's pretty much left it in
his mind that he's going to go ahead and leave
Golden State. And I think Golden State's ready for him
to leave. Anyone was they don't want to give him
that money.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
Arnie, what if our boss, the great Scott Shapiro, yes,
offered me a four year contract word right, one hundred
million dollars and offered you a two year extension in
the fifty million dollar range, would you feel like that's
a little bit insulting?
Speaker 3 (20:58):
Only fifty mil for me, that's right, and you get
the hundred Well, you get the one hundred mill but
that's twenty five million a year. So I'm getting twenty
five million year.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
That's right, but you're only getting a two year extension.
I'm getting a four year deal, gotcha? Okay? Right to
let you out that Clay Thompson got a two year
extension and Draymond Green got a four year deal. I
didn't realize I had to lay it out that that's.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
Simple for you, But I'd be okay with that. I'll
just letting you know, just I would complain about it.
I would complained about that. I could see where Clay
is upset with that, because I would think that they
would want me back over Draymont. Forget about basketball on
the court, basketball off the court. Clay has been a
(21:43):
model player, model citizen. Draymont has not, and the trouble
that he caused, you think they'd rather go ahead and
make sure that all three got back. I don't understand
why they don't have the money. That's where I'm starting
to scratch my head on that, because only Steph and
now they gave the money to Draymont. Where's all this
(22:04):
other money that's and that's that's keeping them hands strong.
I don't understand that m.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
The CAP's reel, the CAP's real in the NBA, and
by that the luxury tax and things of that nature, right,
and there's teams that are being very cognizant of that.
I don't know. Maybe Golden State is saying, this is
what your offer is gonna be, and if you want
to go to Orlando and you want to go somewhere else,
there's nothing we can do but this, this is your offer.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
This is what I think he's worth it. Still, do
you think you're worried about giving money to do a
guy that's that's been those through those injuries, the.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
Last couple, Arnie. Every man is worth what someone is
willing to pay him. And for Clay Thompson, you know Orlando,
they trip over there, you know what, to give him
a lot of money, maybe bringing a veteran presence with
their young roster. I think Philly would do the same thing.
I think the Lakers would try to ask, I'll get
your a little hometown deal, but that ain't happening.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
Just was about to ask, how come the Lakers are
not in the road and they just can't afford it,
and they just don't even want to bother to go
ahead and try. Because if the Lakers got close to
what everybody else was offering, I think he'd jump at
the chance to play for Los Angeles, move back down
there and get to play against Golden State how many
times a year? What are you kidding me? I think
he love something like that.
Speaker 2 (23:20):
So again, I guess a new angle. I don't know
if you would necessarily call it breaking news, but according
to Mark Stein, there is mutual interest between Klay Thompson
and potentially joining up with the Dallas Mavericks sor Right
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox Arnie and planking
for Jason and Mike care on Fox Sports Radio. Oh man, hey, Arnie,
are you watching the NHL Draft? Are you guys?
Speaker 3 (23:43):
I actually, I'm not really paid that much attention to,
but I got.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
Okay, okay, I'm just I'm curious what you guys think
of the overall presentation. Like I am envious of this.
I'm in awe of what the NHL in Vegas is doing.
The spear stuff is sphear. Sorry, this here stuff is awesome.
The way they're announcing the picks. I can't tell you
anything about these prospects, who they are, if they're any good,
(24:07):
but I.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
Mean, yeah, that's right. They did. They did.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
She came out and did. What didn't she do? She
didn't do the first she did?
Speaker 4 (24:17):
She did the Canadians.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Canadians, thank you, yes, Manto Canadians.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
Did you see the number three pick to who went
to Anaheid? Did you have to see that guy?
Speaker 2 (24:25):
How shocked he was when he got he went what.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
The black looked at his dad like he was like
he was like, wait a minute, I was supposed to
be taking like in the late first round and he
was the third pick overall, couldn't believe it. Didn't know
what to do. I didn't know where to turn. Just
was was just thumbstruck that he was taken so high.
It was beckind Sedec I think his name is.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
Yeah, and he play stands up and he looks at
his dad and his eyes are being He's like, what
the big hug and then he kind of stumbled his
way up to the stage.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
Should have been me. That should have been my kid
hugging me.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
Right, it would have been. But you didn't work as
hard as Bronni did. He didn't have it lebron did
You didn't have questions. But what do you like of
doing something different, not having the commission to be the guy,
having like the team come out and announce the pick.
If there's a trade, the commission comes out.
Speaker 4 (25:13):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
I think it's kind of cool. Kudos to the NHL.
This has been fun to watch. I don't know who's
what I mean, which, by the way, I watch an
NBA draft where I didn't know who was what either,
and I love the NBA, so this is kind of like,
got me guy. I mean, the Spy was made for
good TV.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
Tonight.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
No, you're right about the NBA draft. Very disappointed. I
used to love, yes, the NBA Draft. I mean I
could probably back in the day tell you everybody in
the first round and most of the people in the
second round. It's just so much different now it is.
It makes me wonder how much, you know, how good
the talent is coming into the NBA compared to like
(25:49):
twenty thirty years ago, And I'm thinking it's a lot
less than it was back then, that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
All Right, I want to hit some of our tweets.
So if we're all in and we're enjoying this, I
hope the NBA is watching. Heck, maybe the NFL as
that'd be. Could you imagine the NFL Draft? Now, I
don't have enough seats for people, but they would put
on an absolute show inside of that. Coming up at
the top of the next hour, we're gonna get Arnie's takes
on the draft, and then fully all in on some
two of contract news because who is it, Jason Cole,
(26:19):
Jake Hole's coming on with us a little bit later
on in the program. All right, let's hit some tweets
at Stinking Genius Wanted Plank Show. Everyone should follow us
at Fox Sports Radio. What did you make of this?
I'm glad a head News asked it. He writes a
little Bronnie and his team, allegedly telling the Suns and
others he would rather play in Australia than be drafted
by Phoenix. Did you hear this reporter from Bob Myers
(26:40):
last night? Did anyone ever back that up and say
that was a thing?
Speaker 3 (26:43):
I don't know. We just kind of all went with
it anyway, becaus it came from Bob and was on TV.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
It was on T Hey why doubt if it was
on TV?
Speaker 1 (26:51):
Right now, Rich Paul's calling teams, don't take Ronnie James.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
He's telling him do not take him, Okay, saying don't
take him, you take him. He's going to Australia. He
has a plan and he has a place.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
Yeah, And you know, I think he just wanted to
get it out there. So I don't know if he
went ahead and you know I told Bob or you know,
somebody leaked to him or whatever it was. I'm sure
he wanted to make sure that the Lakers were gonna
take him, and then to make sure that cause you know,
there was a lot of people on the media saying
I hope the Celtics take him and Old to the hostage.
(27:24):
Takes him and Old to the hostage, and I'm like,
wait a minute, what it? What is this? Is this
the draft or I gotcha?
Speaker 4 (27:32):
Like some game show.
Speaker 3 (27:33):
I could believe they should draft a guy that they
have no interest in just to keep him from going
to the other team and threaten them and say we
got your kid. I go, this is insane. So look,
I don't know if it was really out there. I
did hear the report. I'm sure it was put out
(27:53):
there so all the teams can hear it. But I
don't think he was in danger of getting drafted early
unless somebody was gonna go ahead and post some sha Chris.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
Yeah. And it's just I can't I can't fathom that
your your threat would be right, Well, go to Australia.
I get it, there's professional basketball leagues there, But I
don't know why that cracks me up as part of it.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
Here's a good one from Brendan who writes people need
to give Bronnie a chance. The young man almost died
from cardiac arrest. People hating on him just because his
dad is a narcissist, are being totally shortsighted. Give the
man an opportunity to show up his game. That's kind
of where I am. I don't know if I have
the energy to be angry about this. I do know
that I've reached the point where I am now. I
(28:34):
don't know Arnie maybe accepting of JJ Reddick being the
coach after being angry. I don't think I'm too fired
up about the whole Bronnie saga. I don't know what
it angers me.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
I'm more on Bronnie's side, and I think that's more
of a good story. And I'm I'm completely on the
other way with the JJ Reddick. I don't find him likable.
I don't like the whole drop it of the f Bob.
I don't like the hey on the sky and we're
gonna do it. It just seems like he's you know,
it was scripted to do that, and I'm the tough guy.
(29:06):
Don't like look how both those guys handle themselves. I'm
more in Brady's corners certainly than JJ Reddick.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
All right, when we come back to the Tyraq dot
Com Studios, kudos to Arnie. That's next, Yeah, be sure
to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with
Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific. Hey,

Speaker 3 (29:45):
All right, got by the way, I got a tease
for a topic.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
Do you want me to pay off this one? Or
do you want to go ahead and give your teas?
Speaker 3 (29:52):
I just want to give a tease. We don't have
to pay it off. There's something that you're probably going
to talk about that I'm going to tell you about
that nobody else picked up on other than me in
this entire world. Does that make sense? Does that make
sense at all?
Speaker 2 (30:07):
I think so. I think I even have a tease
for you. Arnie knows something that you don't know.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
I know something that everybody in the world doesn't know.
How about that?
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Well, I mean, come on, you got me intrigued. Now,
what are you talking about?
Speaker 3 (30:21):
Well, you were going to talk about this later. I
saw you tweeted out.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
But I tweet out I believed a lot today. The
Jalen Brunson Oh, the WWE.
Speaker 3 (30:33):
Yes, yes, I figured if you're.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
Getting mad about Tyrese Halliburton wearing the Reggie T shirt
for a month, and knowing how you think Jalen Brunson
should be in the gym right now working on his
jump shot, and knowing how you want everyone to fight
and hate each other, I figured there was nothing worse
you could have heard or seen than Jalen Brunson and
(30:59):
Tyree's hallib and playing wrestling on your TV tonight.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
I want you know some think first time. I was
gonna have some fun with it and say, you know,
how dare Halliburton go to the garden? You never go
to the garden. I don't care if you know if
unless you play New York you can't see any actors there,
musicians WWE. You wait till they come to your state
is Indiana state? Yes, so you wait till you come
(31:23):
to your state before you don't get to come here.
And I was gonna have some fun with it and
do stuff like that. The one thing that nobody picked up.
I guess I'm the only person in the world to
pick this up. Did you see the part where Jalen
Brunson was coming into the ring to save his wrestler
friend on his side with the chair.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
And he hurt his hand.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
Yes, that's his surgically repaired thumb.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
Neah, that's true. Why is he not Why does he
not have a rap on it?
Speaker 3 (31:54):
I could well, he probably thought it was better until
he heard it. You can't be doing that when you
would just had surgery and had a broken dumb You
get me playing around like that.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
I mean, it's not like he ended up throwing any punches.
He just grabbed a chair.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
And now you saw immediately him WinCE and kind of like,
oh wow, you get showing that you gotta be careful
and put him in bubble wrap.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
You know what's so funny for us? Nobody brought that
up at all, texted you that it looks like Brunson
got hurt and Arnie will notice it. I'm not even
kidding you, right, Oh.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
Could you imagine if he got hurt seriously like Jalen
Brunston was a ww you want to tell him, yeah,
I stop it, stop it and he's gonna have to
have surgery again or something like that. I would just
I would get ill. I would be so ill. But
nobody in the world picked that up because if Nick
fan saw that, they'd be going, hey, hey, what are
(32:44):
you doing there? You knuckle ahead, get away from that.
You just had that fixed only a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker 4 (32:49):
He could be out for a while.
Speaker 3 (32:50):
Oh stop it, stop it.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
How would you? How would you Arnie handle that?
Speaker 3 (32:57):
If he blew my mind? I would one, I would
get upset. And anybody who booked him for that event, first.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
Of all, well probably himself, No, it.
Speaker 3 (33:08):
Was he's come on, He's got to have like a
you know, a person, you know, like an agent or
something that says, hey, I got a great idea. Right
after you're done with you're busted up hand and surgery,
let's put you out into the WW What could go wrong.
It's not like people don't get hurt and get hit
with chairs or anything like that. It's not like you
can get hurt or or anything like that. And you're
(33:29):
only Hey, you're weeks away from major surgery.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
The owt with it.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
Got to get you out there and make some money
because you're so poor.
Speaker 2 (33:38):
I'm laughing. I just googled up the headlights because I
know Logan paul I don't know who that other wrestler is.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
Well, I have no idea what the other one. You
know what, if if I was there, I would have
taken Jayleen out of the ring and sacrificed myself.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
He would ready, let's go, Let's go Jayleen. Here's one
headline from the New York Post, Jalen Brunton and Tyrese
Halliburton have intense stare down in wild SmackDown moment.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
If you saw him getting hurt his thumb, that would
have been the lead everybody, all the Knick fans would
have gone crazy over that, that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
Brunson taunts Pacers Halliburton. I mean, come on, that's that's awesome. Right,
there's already there's always a little bit of a rivalry.
Are a little bit. There's already a little bit of
a rivalry between those two cats. And to see this,
come on, man, I'm here.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
That was how a Burton's injury in the playoffs. I
don't remember, like a sore toe or something something.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
Like that was there?
Speaker 4 (34:35):
What name Heart's three pointer?
Speaker 3 (34:39):
I didn't hear that.
Speaker 4 (34:40):
I'm sorry that you remember his three pointer? Right?
Speaker 3 (34:42):
Oh? Yes, that I remember that.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
I do remember back spasms is what he was dealing with.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
But I guess the backspasms went away to go ahead
and do WWE. I'm guessing, huh, are you really this
tore up about this?
Speaker 2 (34:56):
Are you really?
Speaker 3 (34:57):
But it's only because that Jalen Brunson I hurt his thumb?
Speaker 2 (35:01):
Well, I will. I will give you credit for being
the only person that I've seen that has vocalized that.
I kind of laughed whenever I saw it. I think too,
it is wrestling, It's it's scripted. I can't help but
imagine maybe he was having a little bit of fun
with it.
Speaker 3 (35:16):
Where in the scripted and says, now, grab the chair
for Brunson so he could hurt his thumb. Who wrote
that parted? I've just got it curious.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
It must have been some Pacers fan. Man. There must
have been some Pacer fan that went out.
Speaker 3 (35:29):
It's not like they don't improv or anything like that
when they're doing the wrestling, right, What what could go wrong?
Speaker 2 (35:34):
Right?
Speaker 3 (35:34):
What could go wrong?
Speaker 2 (35:36):
So Jalen Brunson Tyrese Haliburton had a little stare down
while Tyrese Haliburton came to the ring with Logan Paul
get it, PACER's guy, Madison Square guard and everyone's booing
cheap heete as we like to call it in the biz.
And as he was walking around the ring, Jalen Brunson
had apparently some incredible seats he must have a good
hookup and Madison Square Garden, and of course Heside.
Speaker 3 (35:59):
Had brass knuckles. I hate brass knuckles, man, Those things
can hurt.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
But I mean yes, but again, this is where I
do remind you it is scripted and it is fake.
So I don't think Tyrees Halliburton was going to try
to punch Jalen Brunton with though that would be great
if he did.
Speaker 3 (36:14):
I'm gonna be swings in the air that accidentally makes contact.
You sound like no, then what happens Then all you
can do is laugh at me.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
But the pain would be pretty good for this time slot.
Right If Jalen Brunson got hurt in some freak accident
at WWE, wouldn't it just be incredible not just for
our show, but this time slot ten p to two
a every single night right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Or Jason Smith has already cursed you curse every team
(36:45):
that you like. I know, it'd be incredible it'd be incredible,
but no punches were thrown. It was fake, it was scripted.
Everyone appears to be okay, even though Arnie Spanier may
have seen Jalen Brunson reinjure his hand, which you like
to tell us, mister Brunston, how you hurt your how
you hurt your hand? Well, I was trying to get
my partner the chair so the bad guy couldn't get him,
(37:08):
and I just absolutely pinched it in it.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
No, he grabbed it from him, is what he did.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
Oh, yeah, he tried to grab it from him. Poor Arnie.
Hour two Jason Cole next
