Speaker 3 (00:29):
Let's go, Arnie, let's go.
Speaker 4 (00:30):
This is the uh, this is the the Power Hour, Okay,
and then the Bonus hours coming out next.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
They do four hours on this show. No messling around,
No messing around.
Speaker 4 (00:40):

dot com the way tire buying should be.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
You heard Finley's update. We're monitoring the Doyers who are
Let's see what's the most of three to two?
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Not the Dodger gave bomb Bob.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Oh, that's a good job. I was saying, I lost
my feet as soon as you must have stole my feed.
A couple of other games we're keeping eyes on tonight
Twins Manners noted up bottom of the ninth inning and
late in Zona top of the eighth, the A's lead
the Diamondbacks five to four. But we did get this
from Paul on Twitter, who writes, Okay, guys, you've used
up your three allotted minutes for baseball. Time to move on.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
Yeah, that's about what they all out as for that,
so we might have gone over that.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
Before we talk about your Knicks, which is coming up
next hour. I'm so happy that the Knicks are finally
getting some coverage in this time slot. I just I
feel like they're not talked about enough on this set
where from nine p to one a Central time. So
we'll get into that coming up in just a bit.
But if you remember, we started this show with a
(01:51):
very important three hour tease, arn'tie. Now these are risky
because sometimes you can forget about them and the next
thing you know, you're driving home from the studio you're like,
I wanted to talk.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
About this, I already forgot what your tea is.
Speaker 4 (02:03):
So the top five fan bases that are filled with
the most hope right now in the National Football League,
Now there you go. I've eliminated a couple for obvious reasons.
I've eliminated the Chiefs. I think the Chiefs are always
filled with hope because they have Patrick Mahomes and because
they have Andy Reid, And it's kind of unfair, and
(02:23):
I think it's time for Patrick Homes to retire. But
these are teams that aren't the defending Super Bowl champs,
nor did they play in the Super Bowl. So are
you ready for my top five hope filled teams? Leading
into the team? I already know who season.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
I already know who's three of them. Who's three of
the teams on that one?
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Go ahead?
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Well? What definitely the Miami Dolphins.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
No, what have they done this offseason to instill hope?
Your hope is based in quicksand my man, what have
you done this offseason that would lead you to be
filled with hope?
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Really? Yes, we're asking.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
We were on.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
The way to winning the division till we lost our
last two games in a row or some something today.
Are you kidding me? Are you serious about that? Till
the Bills had like a six skate winning streak, we
had broken down with injuries. What's wrong with you? They're
on the way to go ahead? And winning the not
only the division, but going to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
I mean, great, you're filled with hope, but yours is
you're always filled with hope. You were filled with hope
when David Woodley wash your quarterback for good, right right.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
Right, rest in peace. What about the New York Jets.
The Jets absolutely on you. Yeah, yeah, of course every
year they're full of hope for no reason whatsoever.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
Though, Well, I also in some of these, In some
of these, I tried to add teams where maybe it
would make sense. So I didn't have the Dolphins on
this list. I'll be willing to hear out of reason.
I do have the Jets. Who's the third that you
Chicago Bears for sure, number one, number one on every
hope the list right now.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
Well, I give you another one that you have on
the list that shouldn't be on the list because they've
done nothing, but they're optimistic every year. The Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
I don't have the Cowboys on this list.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Well, they won the division last year, though I don't
think their fans are filled with a lot of hope
right now.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
Okay, I think that Jerry Jones, Hey, we're going all
in fell flat Ceedee Lamb didn't show up to Mini camp,
Dak doesn't have a new deal. You are still patchwork
in your offensive line. Now you've got blind homers. Let's
be clear, Arnie, You've got blind homers who would sit
here and tell you that. I don't know the Arizona
(04:33):
Cardinals are going to win the division this year? Are
the New England Patriots are gonna win? Because well, just
because they're a fan. I feel like with the Cowboys
you do have a strong foundation of that, but hey,
I don't think they should be filled with hope, and Arnie, honestly,
I don't know that they necessarily are right now.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Well, then if we're gonna if you're gonna play it
that close, that you have to have the Houston Texans
on that list. Jeff, yes, very much. Number five on
my list was the Houston Texans. You had to have
them on. But here's the question.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
Houston at five, Pittsburgh good four, Jets at three, Chargers
with Jim Harbaugh beat the things up at number two,
and the Bears at number one. Those are the five
fan bases. And maybe the term would be the loudest
or the most confident right now because of the moves
that they've made. And it's kind of funny because I think,
just specifically talking about the Steelers here in this list, Arnie,
(05:23):
Pittsburgh fans wanted Justin Fields. I think if you were
to pull every Pittsburgh fan whenever they had when they
made the decision that they were going to go get
a quarterback, they got a Russell Wilson, and no one
was happy. He's like, what are we even doing right now?
We got Russell Wilson, and they kind of backed into
Justin Fields. And I think a lot of Steeler fans
wanted Fields. I think they feel like they were a
(05:43):
quarterback away, and I think a lot of people look
at it and say, well, inevitably, a first round pick
like Fields is going to be our guy. So I
think Steeler fan is just absolutely wrapped in hope right now.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
I'll give you another one that you left off, at
least according to Twitter, because I've been reading about him
for the last three days to a week about Oh,
they're really impressed on how he looks. Oh my goodness,
I'm talking about Daniels for Washington and the Washington Commanders.
What are you thinking there?
Speaker 4 (06:12):
Because they haven't had a guy quarterback in a while either, right,
I mean it's funny the Raiders get blasted for their
constant turnover at the quarterback position.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
Right right, the starting.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
Quarterbacks for the Commander slash Redskins over the last like
the last.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
It's what Sunny Jurgensen or Billy Kilmer.
Speaker 4 (06:34):
I mean, it's it's it's not good. It is not
good Joe Fisman. Since Joe Fisman, I would say. And
you know, Sam Howe started every single game last year.
He was the first Washington Redskins slash Commander to start
every game since Kirk Cousins did it in twenty seventeen.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
Right, Cousins had a good three year run. But it's
almost as if they never really embraced him because they
kept expecting Ibert Griffin, the third to matches twenty twelve
Rookie of the Year. But I mean there was a season,
you know, rip Dwayne Haskins. But in twenty nineteen it
was Keenum Haskins and Colt McCoy that started sixteen games.
(07:15):
At that point, they just haven't been able to get
it right. I mean, they thought they might have had
I'm really going back here, Arnie thought they had something
with Jason Campbell thought they might have had something. Remember
Oh yeah, yeah, they thought they had something with Jeff Hostetler.
There had to run. They drafted Heath Schueler, but Gus
Farrott ended up starting.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
I haven't hit a Shuler sign helmet.
Speaker 4 (07:37):
Oh do you really?
Speaker 3 (07:38):
I used to have it. I got rid of it.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
Okay. Anyway, My point is they haven't had a rock
star at quarterback in quite a while. So yeah, I
think that you add hope because you feel like you
have a guy. Where did New Where did the New
England Patriots fall on? Our host?
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Should have zero hope? Zero zero. There should be no
hope whatsoever. They have no offensive explosion, and they're going
to be the worst team in the division. They're probably
only going to win four games. Again, I have no
hope for them whatsoever. Zero.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
What's been their big move this offseason outside of drafting
the quarterback? Because I have a theory they draft overall
Drake may what he go second third in the draft,
but they really third third? Okay, they didn't really do
anything this offseason. They didn't do anything they elevated from
within in their coaching staff. They didn't even really have
(08:32):
a coaching search, They invested in Judah, they invested in
Dugger and a couple of other.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Guys even said a contract they meant.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
But okay, did they go get him from somewhere?
Speaker 3 (08:44):
No, he was been there back for a couple of
years now.
Speaker 4 (08:48):
So to me, the Patriots kind of doubled down on
the Patriots and really made it seem like the problem
was Bill Belichick. Right, every everything they've done move wise,
Arnie has been guys that are there. There wasn't a
massive deal. There wasn't a massive free agent signing or
anything of that nature. They just they drafted and they
(09:12):
gave new contracts or they rewarded those who were there.
So is this just blide hope? Is there a tank somewhere?
I mean, it's kind of odd to see a team
where they just changed the coach when it's a legend
like that and nothing else really changes along the lines,
along the depth chart, along anything outside of drafting Drake.
May No, maybe they don't want to.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
Yeah, maybe they don't want to start adding pieces at
I expense until they figure out, you know, how long
it's going to take. Drake may to be the starter.
If he's the starter, by the way, So I would
make him the starter. He's my guys. So and they
did sign Stevenson to make sure that they but.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
Again a guy that was in house, a guy that
was in house.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
Right right extension, I should say, I'm sorry, I just see.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
My point is it almost seems as if I know
they got Austin Hooper as a tight end from the Raiders.
I think there was a wider receiver. Was Kendrick Bourne
that they signed. Maybe he was there the year before.
My point is they didn't really go out and make
a splash, and you might be onto it, Arnie. Maybe
they're waiting until they see what they have in Drake
May and if he even starts the season opener, if
(10:15):
he even starts this year, I think that at that
point they start becoming a little bit more additive, a
little bit more aggressive. But it's almost as if they've
looked at him, be like, h Bill Belichick was the problem.
We're doubling down on what we've got right here.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
Well, I do think that Belichick was the problem. That
doesn't mean that they fixed it or anything like that.
When they don't have weapons around anybody, So yeah, I
think it's gonna be Besides, that's a pretty good the
vision with Buffalo Miabi, and if the Jets come around
with Rogers, there's no place for New England in the
top three, that's for sure.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
Is there any chance of our teams that are filled
with hope? The one squad that it just seems to
be doing everything right right now? Arnie, is the Houston Texans.
Everything that you could possibly do right, the Houston Texans
are doing and for a franchise I hadn't always done that.
It's pretty wild to see. Is there any chance, any
(11:04):
chance that they have a bit of a sophomore slump?
You're two with a head coach, you're two with a
starting quarterback. Sometimes teams catch on. You've got to adjust
any way. That they could struggle a bit and that
hope could start to diminish.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
Only if CJ. Stroud. We like to use this analogy,
at least I do. When we talk about bands about
being one hit wonders. That's right, Let's CJ. Stroud is
going to be a one hit wonder and just absolutely
look horrible out there. And they added Joe Mixon, so
they've not that the running back was a problem anyway.
I thought they were pretty decent running back. Besides that
(11:40):
and the pickup of Digs, I just can't see it.
Let's it's all unless Stroud goes backwards. It's st Luke's
promising for them, that's for sure.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
Do you see their schedule? They open with the Colts
in Indianapolis, who Anthony Richardson trying to kind of get
his group back. Then they've got Chicago at home, Then
they go to Minnesota. Then they're home for Jacksonville and
Will and Trevor Lawrence. Maybe year three, now things get right,
maybe he's healthy after all the issues he had last year.
(12:11):
But and then we'll see what even Buffalo is. They're
gonna start nine to revenge game. They're gonna start nine
and one or ten to zero. Where's the loss? The Jets,
the Lions in there, the Cowboys?
Speaker 3 (12:22):
Maybe the Cowboys in their tenth game or something like that,
or that's their eleventh game. But that's what a piece
of cake schedule. That is how sick things that I
should bet the Texans to win the Super Bowl this year.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
Here's the team that I struggled with a little bit.
And I don't know if we have a lot of
Browns fans tune in tonight but I couldn't figure out
the Browns. I couldn't figure out like the fan vibes
of that team because the roster right pretty good. That's
a playoff team. Last year you were a playoff team
with Joe Flacco as your quarterback. Who is sitting on
(12:53):
the couch? Now? Do you maybe it does that hope
ramp up a little bit? What is this now? You're
three with Deshaun Watson in hope he's healthy again. You
never want to be like everything is behind him now.
I think that's always going to be something that's with him.
But should I have included maybe Cleveland in here too?
Speaker 3 (13:11):
Always if you're talking about high hopes for winning a
super Bowl, no, high hopes to maybe make the playoffs. Yeah,
I'll give you that, but they're not a super Bowl contender.
What if DeShawn Watson showed you that he's going to
lead this team to the super Bowl? Absolutely nothing. No,
I don't think i'd have high hopes for him if
I was a Browns fan.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
Well, I would also add Arnie that the one frustrating
thing I think for most of the Browns fans is
you gave up so much to go get to Sean
Watson a boat load, and he's been an absolute no show, right,
I mean they were a better team without him. Now,
there were moments last year where he flashed, But I
don't know if I would put the Cleveland Browns in
(13:52):
that group. Well, their fans are filled with hope.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
Yeah, they picked up Jerry Judy, so maybe that's gonna
help him a little bit.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
And you've got I mean, you've still got a more
Cooper there. Yeah, so there, and there's talks about what
his deal might look like.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
So I think it's I think it's interesting.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
To look at at Cleveland to see what they might
look like. All right, So hit us up on Twitter.
It's stinking genius one. I'm at Plank Show. Everyone should
follow us at Fox Sports Radio. My top five list
of teams is filled with hope when we come back.
All right, Arnie, we've got to remember a true legend.
We lost a legend of film. We'll pay tribute next

Speaker 3 (14:51):
What is Up on Game?

Zada and Super Bowl champion. Yep, that's right, Plexico burs.

to Up on Game with Me LeVar Arrington.
Speaker 6 (15:13):

Speaker 5 (15:15):
Birds on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you

Speaker 4 (15:24):
All Right, it's already in playing filling in for Jason
and Mike here on Fox Sports Radio. All our buddy
Paul at Bill's Mafia nineteen eighty five rights. I will
have hope when Sean McDermott is sent packing.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
Boy.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
Bill's have kind of had a rough one this offseason,
haven't they? For team filled with so much hope and
expectations the last few years. You move on from Stefan Diggs,
kind of quiet on a lot of the free agent
front stuff on Dick's just.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
Didn't want to be there anymore, you know what I mean.
You can just feel it all year long. There was
something not right about him there. That's twice now, Minnesota, Yep, Buffalo.
I hope it simmers down from a bit. But I
will say I love Ken Coleman. He was my favorite
wide receiver outside of Doonsay in the draft. I think
(16:13):
he's gonna be a good fit for him so well.
I don't know if they should be over the moon
jacked again, but they're gonna be in the megs. Big Belt.
Fans are turning on Josh Allen just a little bit.
I don't know why, but I get that feeling though.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
McDermott first then Josh Allen. Okay, that's my theory, right,
First it's the coach and then it's the superstar quarterback.
I mean, you know, it's funny. I was reading during
the break, we're talking to the NFL. Last segment Infra
Jason Smith. That's Arnie Spaniel on Chris Plank here on
Fox Sports Radio. My Carmen out as well too. But
the crew is still here. Frostburg and Ty should running
(16:46):
the show. Update coming up here in mere moments, Brian Finley,
Dodgers just tied the game up at three against Hike.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
Did you see that one and see how they tied
it up?
Speaker 4 (16:56):
No, because I lost my feed all of a sudden,
and I do not want to count on you to
recap it because you'll confuse me even more.
Speaker 6 (17:02):
No.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
The center fielder for the Giants went back out of the
ball and hit it off his glove. He thought he
caught it, looked in the klav He's like, damn, it's
not in there, and the ball had skirt it away
and he just got a triple out of it. And
then they got a sack fly to tie it up.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
So Jason Heyward with a sackfly, three to three game.
But I'm reading an article about Dak Prescott during the
break and they're talking about all these destinations for potentially
Dak Prescott to Land and it's wild because I think
just about any team that's looking for a quarterback right now,
Arnie would love to have Dak Prescott. I'd love to
(17:40):
have him in Vegas. The article I was reading was
about the potential fit for Dak Prescott with the Giants.
But I feel like every team that once a quarterback
would be interested in Dak Prescott except the Dallas Cowboys
and their fans. He's getting the Romo treatment. Man. They're
ready to move on from him. Is it fair or
is it unfounded?
Speaker 3 (17:57):
No? I think it's fair for whatever reason. And I'm
not sure if he matches up statistically with some of
the other quarterbacks that are making that type of money.
But I just I'm not giving Dak Prescott all that money.
I think I want to go in a different direction,
especially for a team that really hasn't proved in much
(18:18):
in the last how many years, and a lot of
it is not Dak Prescott's twelve But let's be honest,
the playoff wins are not a plenty. I'm not sure
i'd give Dak Prescott all that money. I may go
in a different direction.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
It will be a pretty wild off season on the
quarterback side, Darre I'd rather give.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
The money the two of than Dak, that's for sure, right.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
Well, but that's not your option right now. You've got
You've got your quarterback, right. Why are they not getting
this done in Miami? That's the thing that's weird for me.
Is there something else going on?
Speaker 2 (18:47):
Well?
Speaker 3 (18:47):
They're not doing it in Miami, they're not doing it
in Dallas. Is there a slew of quarterbacks coming into
the NFL Draft that like the next Caleb Williams that
I'm not seeing here? Or are they just putting the
foot down saying this is too much money? You know
something we didn't get to last time we did the
show that they wanted to come up with, what a
special cap just for quarterbacks? How long have I been
(19:08):
calling for this, Chris? I mean, I've been saying this
for how many years? I wonder if that's going to
make it easier to sign quarterbacks or they'll get a
lot more money. I'm not sure how that's going to
affect things. If there's a separate cap for quarterbacks.
Speaker 4 (19:21):
I don't know if there's a comp for it. I
don't know if there's any other sport that has a
separate salary cap for a position over all others. Now
there's sliding and there's different amounts of money you can make.
But I mean, unless I'm just completely blanking on something,
I don't know, that seems unprecedented to me. It's a
(19:42):
good idea, A cap for the quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
Yeah, well, I think it's a good idea. That way,
your quarterback who gets all that money, doesn't hurt the
salary cap for the rest of the team. So I
think it's a real good idea.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
So in other words, I mean, where is it just
this is what your money. I don't know how it
would even work. It's just how much you can spend
on a quarterback and then everything else it doesn't count
against your salary.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
Just subtract, subtract the fifty million from your cap and
can't say that's what the quarterback makes and.
Speaker 4 (20:13):
Now taking money away from your cap for other players.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
No, that's not counting against the cap for the other players.
I mean, that's the whole point.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
So it would be there would be a salary cap,
and it's like, oh and then here's what you can
pay a quarterback, right, so there just be a going
rate for quarterbacks pretty much.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
That's the way I read into it that here, here's
what the here's what you could pay your other players
in one love sub for your for your team, here's
the cap for the other what fifty nine players or
whatever it is, and for the sixty if your quarterback,
you could pay whatever you want.
Speaker 4 (20:47):
Huh Okay, I mean I'm here for it. I don't
think the NFL owners would like it too much to you.
I mean, it's just guarantee that you're getting up spending
a significant more amount of money because you're I mean,
you're still gonna pay your other guys a ridiculous amount
of money too, And now you would have more money
under a salary cap to pay them as well. Right,
(21:09):
you wouldn't be amstrung by just a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
Right, But that doesn't mean the cap goes up. Maybe
the cap stays the safe caps going up, right, But
you know, again without without your quarterback, though, maybe you
just tell the guys, you know, maybe you're just gonna
pay him a small increase. The rest of the guys
would have to get a major increases. My point.
Speaker 4 (21:27):
We hit a couple of tweets here before we wrap
up this segment. Coming up a little bit later on
in the program, we got to we got to dive
into Arnie's picks. They're a big, big, big part of night.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
I'm on fire.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
I don't know about that. I do, big tim guru rights.
How bad did the Lakers look by drafting Brownie? We've
talked about it back an hour one. You can find
it on the podcast. We're probably gonna get into it
again later this hour, maybe even next hour. But I mean,
is it a bad optic? Is it a bad look
for them in your opinion? I don't know. I think
we kind of expected this, right.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
You know, let me ask you this. I don't think
we've brought this up. What happens, God forbid knock Wood
whatever he doesn't become, forget about an NBA star that
he just doesn't cut it in the NBA. He just
what do you do now with the rest of your life?
If you're Brunn?
Speaker 4 (22:19):
I don't know, play basketball overseas?
Speaker 3 (22:23):
I don't know it's gotta be I mean, do you
do you become the GM of the team your dad's
gonna buy eventually? Right that? Do you run that? Do
you work for Clutch Sports? Do you play overseas? Do
you play for in what Australia or whatever? Do you
just play in the G League? Or do you do
(22:44):
you become a waiter if you can't play in the NBA.
Speaker 4 (22:50):
He's busting tables from only that waiter misunderstood me.
Speaker 3 (22:55):
I don't mean a waiter busting tables. I mean a
waiter is waiting for your parents to die so you
can inherit their money. Well, I mean that's morbid. That's
really been as a waiter. There's a lot of there's
a lot of kids that I know that are waiters
out there. I trust, trust me on that, Chris. So
what do you What do you do if you're browny?
(23:16):
I do you? Just live the good life and enjoy
trips and yachts and and just love life and and
that's pretty much it. I you know, there's a lot
of actors their their kids live that type of life,
you know, the good life out there in the Hamptons
and stuff like that. I don't know what do you do?
Speaker 7 (23:34):
Where do you go?
Speaker 4 (23:35):
What is your Bronni? Is it Roman numeral number three?
Let's see here? Does it matter? Can he play? Went
to the Lakers? What about the nepotism? No doubt he
makes the team? What if Ronny never cuts it? In
number six?
Speaker 3 (23:52):
But Roman numeral three sub section six? What if Bronny
never makes it?
Speaker 4 (23:58):
Uh in the obah and you're scattershooting? Your automatic thought is, well,
if he doesn't play in the NBA, maybe go bus
tables or something.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
No, wait for his dad to die so he inherited
the money.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
I don't understand what the allowance looks like in the
James family, all right, I don't know but to go from.
If he doesn't make the team, hopefully he can pick
up a part time job. Seems to be a pretty
big swinge on your guard.
Speaker 3 (24:26):
Do you become a general manager for the team your
dad's gonna buy?
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Well.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
I think he's got a pretty good chance to play
professionally overseas if he wants. I mean, if he doesn't
make the last, summer league's gonna be fun. I can't
wait to see how he plays in summer league. But
he is gonna play in summer league, right, I'm sure
he is bet hurt. I mean, he has playing Summer
League and we got a big problem. But I think
he's gonna try to play, and I think he's got
a chance to do so. Maybe I don't think he's
(24:52):
If he makes the Lakers and they cut somebody that
could give him meaningful minutes, then I think we have
a completely different conversation. But we'll wait until we get
to that moment.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
What do you waits? My gosh, how about you know
what I meant? You know, I know what you want?
Speaker 4 (25:05):
When we come back to the tyrack dot Com studios,
I do I want to pay tribute to a legend.
But first, speaking of legends, Brian Finley in the house
with an update on everything going on in the world
of sports. A couple of games and baseball still going on.
What's that Befindland.
Speaker 6 (25:18):
Yeah, and guys, And if you take legend and you
took you take baseball and you put those together, I
think one of the guys that you would consider is
Orlando subpoena Hall of Famer in the nineteen sixty seven
NL MVP has passed away at eighty six years old.
Was a great Giant. San Francisco Giant during their game
tonight against the Dodgers, which is three three in the nine.
Speaker 3 (25:38):
No Giants one just one Yeah, two run Homer?
Speaker 7 (25:43):
Are you serious?
Speaker 3 (25:44):
Yeah, I'm being serious. To run Homer.
Speaker 7 (25:46):
They just they literally just hit this run.
Speaker 3 (25:48):
Right.
Speaker 4 (25:48):
I'm just gonna tell you this right now, Arnie. Somehow
his feed's always ahead of all of them. Yeah, and
there's nothing that he loves more than ruining a last
sporting event that is absolutely zero to minimal details.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
But I hear, I'm that right. They did win five
to three, So yeah, yeah, you got something right.
Speaker 6 (26:09):
So yeah, the Giants did end up winning five to three.
Speaking for a moment back on Orlando, they made a
moment of silence for him, known in the sixth inning
as one of our our great legends in the sport
of baseball and passes away.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
I also like how Finley's trying to do a tribute
to Orlando Cepaida and Arnie Yell's Giants when he.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
Just gets right trying to figure out who hit the
home run. And I'm not telling you what it's like, Chris,
because you don't know. I have it in front of me,
but I'm.
Speaker 7 (26:38):
Not here here. Here's what this is like, Chris. It's like.
Speaker 6 (26:43):
Picture pictures, say, like somebody their wife and their husband
and wife are talking in the kitchen and they have
a serious conversation and all of a sudden, one of
the children come in and scream about something that has
nothing to do or not much to do.
Speaker 7 (26:58):
Conversation.
Speaker 4 (26:58):
You listen to our show on Sunday night, Yeah.
Speaker 6 (27:01):
Exactly, Yeah, that is that is what I Sometimes I
think that it's a little bit of a WWE slunkfest
between between those two. And I'm not sure how Arnie
is able to take all of those gut punches, but
he comes back every week somehow.
Speaker 7 (27:15):
Anyway, what else is going on? We got the Mariners
three to two. They won in ten innings against the Twins.
Speaker 6 (27:21):
Also in regards to Major League Baseball, Cardinals over the
Reds one and nothing, Royals ten to three, victorious against
the Guardians. Juan Soto hits a home run, a three
run blast for the Yankees on the way to their
sixteen to five victory against the Blue Jays. Orioles trying
to keep up their strong winning ways as they were
up against the Rangers.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
Taveras swings bouncing ground ball over towards the first basement.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
Malcostle holds office pitcher applies it to first base and
the Orioles lock it down. Craig timbro SUTs them down
in order.
Speaker 6 (27:53):
A two to one win for the O's, no question
about it, that is Oriols Radio Network raised over the
Nationals three to one. Also a victory for the Mets
seven to two against the Astros. Cubs go down on
the road against the Brewers and he win for the
Braves is mentioned, and the Padres nine to two against
the Red Sox NHL, we had the draft going on
(28:16):
in the first round in Las Vegas. It delighted with
a wonderful, very much ethereal atmosphere with all sorts of
lights and glitter and thousands of people were on site
for this event. And the first overall selection went to
the San Jose Sharks and they went with Maclin Celebreni
forward from Boston University. Also something of note, Jerome Aguilno,
(28:40):
one of the legends of NHL. His son tej Aguilna,
was drafted today six overall by the Utah Hockey Club.
And of course his father Jerome played over fifteen hundred
games in the National Hockey League. And that is nothing
like what you guys were talking about with nepotism in
relation to Browni and Lebron time. Lastly, we'll get to
(29:01):
the NBA here. Just a couple quick trades to mention
de Jonte Murray. He is getting sent over to the
New Orleans Pelicans to bolster their front court in a
reported trade first announced by ESPN, where Lance Larry Nance Junior,
along with Dyson Daniels in two first round selections.
Speaker 7 (29:17):
Are gonna go over to the Atlanta Hawks.
Speaker 6 (29:20):
Dallas Mavericks trade Tim Hardaway Junior and three second round
draft picks to the Pistons for Quenton Grimes. And lastly,
the Warriors are looking to still get rid of just
free themselves of Chris Paul and that meaty contract in
the form of thirty million dollars they pushed back the
day he has guaranteed that money in the hopes of
(29:41):
trading him. He was supposed to earn that thirty million
by today. Let's get it back to two guys who
you couldn't trade. They're worth too much. Chris Plink Arnie
Spanier do not have a.
Speaker 4 (29:55):
No trade clause though, yes, money. All he's trying to
do is get through the update. Can you like wait
before you No?
Speaker 3 (30:01):
No, I was he's given a three three score when
it's a final.
Speaker 7 (30:06):
Well, I mean, come on, he's right, it's on me down.
Speaker 6 (30:10):
I need to I don't know what feed you get, Arnie,
but whatever you have, the Vermont feed.
Speaker 4 (30:16):
The Vermont feed, right, thanks, Brian. All right. A couple
of things I wanted to hit from Twitter at stinking Genius. One.
I'm at playing show, uh, Paul writes. One day I'm
going to walk into with Chili's and Brownie James is
going to be taking my order according to a.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
Bit you know what I meant? Come on here, I've
given you my best material and you're not understanding it.
Come on, now, what am I missing out on it?
Speaker 4 (30:39):
You think that he's if he can't play in the NBA.
I guess he didn't graduate from college quite yet, right,
But yeah I did. Did he graduate one year? No? No? No, no, no,
just one year? That's right. They were. They were celebrating
the fact that he was the first James to go
to college, or because Lebron ever went to college. But
I'm just, uh, I know, that's quite the dip man.
(31:01):
That's quite the dip. Shouts out to our buddy overnight Joe,
who is working late with us tonight. No surprise for
Arnie's frustration with Jalen Brunson showing up at wrestling tonight.
Here's one that caught my eye. Guys, you gotta talk
some crap about each other's golf game or the evening's
not complete. I will say, I'm sitting here, where is
(31:23):
my Where is my list of your Roman numerals? I
was surprised you didn't have anything debate related on here.
Speaker 3 (31:29):
Arnie. Yeah, you know, I never like to go ahead
and push it in that type of a way. You know.
I gotta tell you one time, one a couple of
a program director GM once offered me to do a
you know, a political talk show, and I said, not
not what I'm doing sports. I just I'm not gonna
make it. If I was ever going to make the crossover,
then it would be when I love sports behind kind
(31:50):
of like what Clay did. But they're like, oh, come on,
you'd really be good at it. I go, no, No,
I'm not even gonna fill in for you. I'm sorry,
I'm not even gonna do that. But I I do
wonder what would happen if I ever went over to
political talk, you.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
Know, I would you go with the Rachel Maddow approach
of the Clay Travis approach.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
Arnie, I think more like the Klay Travis point.
Speaker 4 (32:10):
Okay, all right, So showing a few colors here tonight,
I will add the one thing that I loved about
the debate last night. I loved it. I loved it
because it was covered like a sporting of it. Afterwards.
Everyone has a postgame show every game that's anywhere, aren't
you and I do a post game show every single
Sunday night. You're on Fox Sports Radio whatever games are
(32:30):
going on. As soon as the debate was over, CNN
kind of like the I guess you could say the
leader for the laft the Democrats. Immediately after they were
like a team that just watched a group of fans
that just watched their team lose a home game, and
immediately like, gotta fire the coach, gotta going things are
in shambles in the front office right now.
Speaker 3 (32:51):
I was so new quarterback.
Speaker 4 (32:54):
I was like, they're treating this like a sporting it.
This is beautiful. Right now, we still.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
Could make the play, replaced the quarterback. What's wrong with
you guys?
Speaker 4 (33:03):
Yeah? At tennis, Dana, probably no conversations about our golf
game here this evening. Either East lows Buddy rights Bronny
dark horse for Rookie of the Year.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
I like that, you know, can I get some odds?
Are we gonna have todd On? I would bet that
in a heartbeat. I think that's a that could that's
a strong possibility.
Speaker 4 (33:22):
And do you think it's a strong possibility that Bronny
could be the Rookie of the Year?
Speaker 3 (33:26):
Yeah, not so much. You know. First of all, I
do get some how do I call it some extra
votes because of his Lebron's son, And yeah, I'll take
the chance if I get like fifty to one or
something to that effect.
Speaker 4 (33:40):
Not the richest and best known rookie class either, No,
not at all. JP rights, aren't he better hope one
of his teams don't win a championship anytime soon. I
don't want him kicking the bucket from pur elation like
the guy who won the three million dollar jackpot four million.
Speaker 3 (33:56):
And by the way, it's this is my year. This
is finally the year of my team's I got my
Arizona football team ready to kick some booty in the
Big twelve, that Boloney Conference, and then got my Dolphins
looking good in the NFL, and my Knicks pretty much
have it wrapped up in the Eastern Conference as though.
Win the NBA championship.
Speaker 4 (34:14):
All right, before we grab a break and put a
rap on our number three, Arnie, we lost a guy
that I don't necessarily know if you would say he
was a rock star, but he seemed to have a
role in everything that I liked. Martin Moule passed away tonight.
He was eighty years old. He was Gosh, so many
(34:35):
TV shows that he was a part of Mary Hartman,
Fernwood to Night. He was in the movie Clue. He
was I think what Roseanne's boss on the TV show Roseanne.
He played a role in Arrested Development.
Speaker 3 (34:49):
Mister Mom too with Michael Keaton.
Speaker 4 (34:50):
Yes, that's right, because he was the boss.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
Yes, that was a good role for him too.
Speaker 4 (34:55):
I like that one. But it just seemed as if Arnie,
if there was a good movie, he had a role
in it in some way, shape or form. So always
always enjoyed watching him perform Rip Tonight. Martin Moll didn't
know if you had any experiences with him, usually you.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
Have a I knew Martin mall hu No, no, not this. No,
I'm not gonna say that. Oh yeah, you offered me
a parton No. I just liked him. I was a
fan of his, that's all.
Speaker 4 (35:21):
Most recent appearance for Martin Mole was in something called
The After Party and the movie Not Dead Yet. Oh
what a fitting way for that. Geez, eighty years of age,
dressed in peace. Martin Maull. All right, when we come back,
let's dive into a little bit of the trade rumors
slash free agent rumors in the NBA right here on
(35:41):
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 4 (35:53):
All right, it's Tarny and Plank in for Jason and Mike.
I'm a little bit disappointed, though, Arnie, in all of
the baseball talk tonight, you haven't talked about your incredible
New York Mets.
Speaker 3 (36:04):
All day on a run? How about that? It came
out of the last wild card spot and game and
a half behind the second wild card spot. I just
love it. I thought the season was done. We were
what like eleven games on the five hundred or nine
games on the five hundred.
Speaker 4 (36:19):
You're twenty eight and thirty seven. Wow, Wow, twenty eight
and thirty seven. And then Grimace pulled, threw out the
first pitch, and you're twelve What are you? Twelve and
two in your last fourteen games. Now you're not catching Philadelphia.
You're twelve and a half out of first place, But
that doesn't matter. You're plus in the run differential. Now
(36:40):
make it four in a row. I'm kind of down
with the grimmest story. Now. Again, I understand there's not
a lot of Nicks and Mets talk that happens on
this show in this normal time slot. So if we
need to reintroduce you to the grimmest story maybe you
all haven't heard it, we can do that. But congratulations.
Aren't even having a little bit of hope right now
in Major League Baseball?
Speaker 3 (36:59):
I do. I was out of hope, Like in April.
I'm like, ah, this is not gonna work out, and
I was so bunned. I'm like, this is gonna be
a horrible year. My Mets turned it around again, they
had to do it twice, My Knicks, my Dolphins, my
University of Arizona. This is gonna be like my best
year ever. Or when it comes to sports, I'll never
have a great years like him having.
Speaker 4 (37:20):
That well, well, well until what happened a lot SmackDown.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
Until Jalen Bruns against hurt with that hand again, point
and he's not able to play, that's for sure.
Speaker 4 (37:30):
Did he really tweet? Were people really that concerned?
Speaker 3 (37:34):
I guess people picked up on it like I did
because I said him because he couldn't kind of wins
and kind of shake it out, and I'm like, wow,
he just hurt his hand. Or that idiot took away
the chair. That's not in the script. There's no way
that was in the script where they said take the
chair away and Ben Jalen Bruntson's stumb that he had
surgically repaired. He had to improvise that that idiot.
Speaker 4 (37:55):
Jalen Brunson two hours ago just lived out a childhood dream.
And yes the hand fine, y'all can relax.
Speaker 3 (38:04):
Yeah, I'm moving out my childhood dream when I go
to the parade next year. That's what I'm gonna live
out my.
Speaker 4 (38:09):
Twenty years of you said that you're going to be
going to the parade.
Speaker 3 (38:13):
All but it's worth it now that it's really going
to happen.
Speaker 4 (38:17):
Well, speaking of that Roman numeral number five, I believe
it is number which, by the way, very surprised that
you didn't have it until number five.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
Yeah, well, I wanted to mix it up a little bit.
Speaker 4 (38:28):
I love the move to go get Mickel Bridges.
Speaker 3 (38:30):
Did they go?
Speaker 4 (38:32):
Did you they give up too much? Yeah? We did?
Speaker 3 (38:34):
But so what I don't give it to you. I'm
you know what I think about draft picks, Dolgi, they're
pretty much worthless. That's why I don't care so much
about the Braddy James going to number fifty five. What
do we give up, like a boatload of second round
picks and this and that and just.
Speaker 4 (38:48):
No, I got it all right here if you want
it instead of just making it up, Yeah, make it
up four unprotected first round picks five nine thirty one, which,
by the way, you had three first round picks next year.
Good luck to you for that, a top four protected
pick from the Bucks in twenty twenty five that they
traded away, a twenty twenty five second round pick, and
(39:09):
a swap in twenty twenty eight. So basically, so we
missed three French guys, is what you're telling me, right, Yeah, yeah, exactly,
you missed out of three or four French guys. Yeah,
And it kind of gives you an idea about how
unvalued first round picks have become for teams that are
trying to compete. The next first rounder that the Bucks
actually have control over that's not involved in a pick
(39:30):
swap or something of that nature, is twenty thirty one,
the next first round pick that the Clippers have control of.
Arnie is twenty thirty and for the Minnesota Timberwolves, after
the trade that they made, they only have one pick
over the next six years that they have control over,
and that's their twenty twenty eight first round pick.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
I thought you couldn't get rid of back back years
of first round selections. Obviously I'm wrong on that.
Speaker 4 (39:56):
I mean, the Timberwolves traded their thirty and thirty one
first round pick to move up and get the guy
in the draft from the Spurs, and then lo and behold.
You know you're like, wait a minute, wait minute, thirty
thirty one, OK, that's a dude. It's like in sixth
grade right now, right, I mean, you're basically looking at
a sixth or a seventh quator that's gonna be draft
eligible at that time.
Speaker 3 (40:15):
They're trading away they're draft picks because they're seeing the
NBA as what I'm seeing the NBA, and that these
players coming in not nearly as talented as players before them,
and they're like, they, you guys are pretty much worthless,
So we're just gonna trade you away because we don't
want you.
Speaker 4 (40:33):
Do you think they would have traded away the chance
to draft Victor win Binyama last year.
Speaker 3 (40:36):
No that they wouldn't. Okay, you gave me what person?
Congratulations Williamson. Well, they should mean.
Speaker 4 (40:44):
Who knows if he's healthy? Look out, That's all I
keep hearing. I think you're I think you're getting a
little carried away on one boring draft. Okay, did we
get a little bit nuts on the Frenchmen this year? Yeah?
Maybe a bit. And I'm sure there's probably some guys
who played with those dudes they're like, this guy drafted.
But in the end, I still think that there is
value in guys coming out of college or you're finding
(41:05):
someone overseas.
Speaker 3 (41:06):
But we're not just completely play like, oh my goodness,
this guy is twenty three years old. He's too old,
or he's been in the college system too long, he's
not worth taking. Before few were in the college system
four years. That was considered a good thing, Chris Well.
Speaker 4 (41:20):
And now, I mean it was allegedly one of the
reasons that don't connect was dropping right, Oh he's just
he's too old, he's too old. But I mean was
we were probably crushing If we were to go back
to draft night on twenty thirteen. In twenty thirteen, we're
probably talking about how ridiculous it was for the Bucks
to draft this guy named Ona Ta Kumpo and that
(41:41):
he's never in play, right, And again, I know I'm
pigeonholing like one guy over the last you know, nine
or ten years as an overseas talent that's really really
panned out. But you got to invest in him, right.
It's not these top two picks I don't think are
going to be Day one guys. Right, they got to
invest him and hope that they develop.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
That's it, your fingers crossed on that. I don't see
that happening. I don't see anybody in this draft that's
going to be a guy that was like the missing
piece for an NBA championship, like, oh, this is what
we needed. Now we're feeling good about ourselves.
Speaker 4 (42:12):
Well maybe in time. Maybe in time. I don't really
know if we got that last year. And you do
see that the NBA has kind of been in a
situation where they're taking their time, they're letting guys develop
a little bit more. Before that, let's go chat home.
Grin set out in others
