Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Let's Go.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
All Star Week continues here The Jason Smith Show with
Me Mike Harmon Live Forthetirac dot Com, Fox Sports Radio Studios.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
It's Chris Plank.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
You hear him tolerating tormenting sometimes in kind, the man
that is Arnie Spanier on Sunday evenings here Fox Sports Radio.
Please to have him in, a man who's well versed
in the collegiate world, so he can teach us all
a little bit about the highways and byways and media
days while we watch the benches get separated in this

(01:00):
Orioles Yankees game. After kurs Dad got hit in the head,
all sorts of fireworks right off the jump.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Chris, I think I need to go change my game
that I have on right now.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
I was watching this much anticipated much talked about matchup
of the Wizards via the Hawks.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
In the NBA Summer League. Right, yeah, let's go. Yeah, yeah, it.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Looks like I need to go watch this baseball game.
How are you, Mike Carmen? I pumped the hang out.
You've been You've been a toe in the road this week.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
I think that's the proper phrase where I know it,
not you've created a new one that I don't know.
That's what's what's his excuse? Where is he? This week?
So I dipped for vacation.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
This is actually gonna end up being the longest he
and I have been off radio together since we were
put on radio together ten years ago.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Oh wow.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
So I went on vacation. So remember remember the draft
used to be one night for the NBA, That's right.
So I scheduled my vacation to leave after night one.
Well what became night wanted the draft? Like, all right,
I'll be here, we'll do the brawny thing. I'll get
on a plane and i'll leave. Oh wait, wait, wait,
we added night too, like I'm traveling to Europe. Well,

(02:09):
but it's funny. They added night too, and they put
it in the middle of the freaking afternoon, right too, right,
so just bury it there. We're not We're not even
gonna do it. In privetime, I was like, okay, this
makes sense. So I was gone a week and now
he is traveling. I think he should be on his
way back either well now or in the next twenty
four hours, because we are scheduled to do a show

(02:29):
on Monday, and knowing him, he'll need some recovery time
because he doesn't fly well. But I did Europe. Came
back and right as I left, he went. So they're
doing like a bunch of Harry Potter haunts and whatever,
being the big nerd he is, which is really cool.
My gosh, man, if my son came to me and said,
we're gonna go check out Harry Potter stuff for vacation,

(02:50):
I don't know how I would handle that. Well, would
you go to Londonn't you see some of the filming
stuff here in Los Angles?

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Know how I would handle that?

Speaker 3 (02:57):
I think you done get a baseball club right now? Out, No,
that's awesome. Well, he's got a daughter, that's you know,
I'd get a golf up in her hand. Well, she'd
plays softball. She's actually pretty damn good.

Speaker 4 (03:08):
Too.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
She's a big hitter, so you might be uh, you know,
paying attention to her in the short order here there
you go, So so that that kind of thing. So yeah,
certainly just a little odd. But yeah, this week we've
we've had a parade of stars. We started with Arnie Spaniard. Yeah,
and then Arnie's in here to Monday night too, because
what you guys are in for Cadino and Rich Yeah. Yeah,

(03:31):
schedules shuffling up and dealing nice. I get the note
from the boss said, do you want to sure different time,
time slot, different energy, different you know, kind of float
of things.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
I have a question, Yeah, hit me.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
So when when it's you and Jason is out do
they come to you and say, all right, who do
you want one night?

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Have you reached that level of power yet? In my carmen?

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Okay, I get a nice conversation with the boss. All right,
we'll pull the curtain back a little bit. We go
and and you know, I'm not gonna my shoulders are
messed up, so I can't do any of the you know,
pat yourself on the back or whatever.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Got But we have a conversation of you.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Know, what are you feeling what's going on and kind
of who and what and why and how it ends
up being parsed out day to day.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Uh, that I can't speak to. But yeah, you made
the list. I appreciate that.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
Fin I mean, which is what I think you were
trying to ask there? So I'm just saying, no, No,
I just wanted to know how much power you have.
That's what I'm trying to figure out. How often I
have to just agree with you tonight and when I
can push back and fight, because oh.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
You should push back and fight on everything.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
I was gonna say if it's yeah, you get to
call your shots and I'm kissing up to you and
I'm letting you I mean, because already thinks he calls
the shots around here.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
I don't know if you've noticed that or not. There
are clinical.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Terms for that that we shan't go into now because
you know, it's sports talk radio. But certainly delusions of grander,
delusions of grand you wait come to mind first and
foremost like that the only hijacked? How many segments did
he hijack on Monday?

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Alex? What it was?

Speaker 4 (04:59):
It? Baby?

Speaker 2 (05:00):
All of the things? So what do you mean which ones?

Speaker 4 (05:03):
No?

Speaker 3 (05:03):
No, No, jeded like. For the most part, he played
pretty good. We kept him between the lines. You know.
It was one of those things like you're on a
on a ride, I don't know, pick your favorite theme park,
and you're on the thing where you're kind of bumping
back and forth against the rails.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
We did a little of that, but there were a
couple of times where.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
It was clear that if he had the opportunity to
hit the hey we're gonna take this track not well traveled.
Oh yeah, no, no, you did that on me a
couple of times, and I said, hey, could de Sac
come back here?

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Yeah? Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
My biggest frustration is he'll drive you into a wall
and then expect you to fix the car and get
you out of there.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
No, well done, we did, We did okay. You know Ernie.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
You know, I grew up listening to Arnie, So when
I used to be putting things together for trading card shows,
he would be the guy on in the evening. Yeah,
and he'd be begging for your calls, baby, talking about
the greatness of the Knicks. Good to see nothing has
changed in the span of the last fifteen to twelve,
But that's you said. Some guys still beg for calls.
So that's the way it works me. I'll just say, hey,

(06:00):
you know, get us on Twitter. If you're entertaining and
you give us a little bit of entertainment value on
the topic at hand, we'll listen to you. We'll read
it out at playing show. I know you love to
monitor the socials as do I at Swollen Dome. If
you're just being mean to Jason for being means sake,
save it till Monday.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
He'll be back. He'll read it then. Right now, he's
on vacation.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Traveling the McDonald's of Europe, so he'll be back in
full effect on Monday. As we sit in for Covino
and Rich, we are broadcasting live from the tire act
dot Com Fox Sports Radio Studios, tire act dot Com.
We'll help you get there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping,
free road hazard protection, over ten thousand recommended installers, tire
act dot com. The way tire buying should be final

(06:44):
throws of the first half in air quotes of the
Major League Baseball season. So we got that in the offing.
Jason Cole's gonna stop buying about fifteen minutes. Our buddy,
longtime friend of the show talking some NFL headlines as
teams start rep reporting for training camp this weekend.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Chris Blank, how excited are you?

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Yeah, I'm a nerd for training camp. And again I'm
not as I don't think I knee jerk, right. I
think sometimes and we see this a lot in the
college world, and we're seeing it a lot in the
NFL world. There'll be one or two highlight clips that
come out out of practice. Obviously NFL being more open
with its practices, I try not to knee jerk to it, right.

(07:25):
I see one or two good plays, I'm like, good,
you're an NFL player, you should make that. But I'm
here for seeing it, right, I'm I love the debates
that are starting to make the rounds with I guess
what we can call the hit that is this New
York Giants Hard Knocks this offseason. I know Florio's written
about it, and that's the possibility of like an all
access you know, Hard Knocks is not an all access show.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
It's edited.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
And now there's this thought that maybe the NFL might
be trending towards one hundred percent access at some point.
And if that's the case, count me in I'll pay
whatever price there is to pay to watch it all. Yeah,
but let me just stop you there though, cause if
I learned anything from these first couple episodes of The
Giants's how poorly run this organization really is. I have
a vote of no confidence based on what they've allowed

(08:10):
to air in those first couple of episodes, because they
still have edit capabilities, they still have a hey hell no, right,
there's a lot of stories about how Dable will crank
up music on conversations. He wants kind of whispered and
you know, for you to have to bring in a
professional lip reader and all that stuff. Like that whole
phone call with Saquon Barkley was one of the cringiest things.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Oh my good in my life.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
You're gonna get you promise me, you promise this, You
promise you're gonna call please like I equated it to you.
I mean, you've seen a few good men, yes, okay, yeah, wow,
But it's one of those I have to unfortunately in
our in our business at this point, Chris, I gotta
ask that question. Well, you got a lot of guys
that are very I don't watch TV and movies like

(08:55):
all right, then good luck to you, but that the
medium is about relating through our relationships, our regular lives
and pop culture.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
That's what we have to do. We give it a
big hunt.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
But remember the courtroom scene where he's looking at Hond
going hell, hell, That's kind of what I felt, you know,
Shane was doing there, you know when when he's talking
to Barkley, and I really wish it was a video
call so I could have seen Barkley just do the
you know triple bully with nothing, Yes, with no Verbieg Giants,

(09:29):
you could not be more you know exactly what that
face was that he was making when he got that
phone call. So maybe you're onto something here, Mike Harmen.
Maybe my hope that we'll get that one hundred percent
access it's so which I don't think anyone's ever going
to get a hundred percent access, but you know, more
than we have right now. Maybe the Giants realize, Hey,
this showed how dumb we are, man, and every single

(09:50):
move is getting over scrutinized like crazy, especially during like
these next two weeks. You bring up camp showing up
starting up. Nothing's really going on. I mean, I'm watching
a Summer League game right now, right I watch Bronnie
James play.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
I love major League Baseball.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
But we're in the middle of kind of a nothing
point of the season as we get to the All
Star Game, so everything's going to get over analyzed. Everything's
going to be talked about more, even as poorly as
maybe the Giants have.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
Looked in some instances.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
So maybe you're right, maybe it will have a pushback
from actually giving up that kind of access. But for me,
Mike Harmon, I'm fired up to be able to see
teams return, So in my mind, I can go over
the top and some of the thoughts that I have,
only to have them rocked back down to earth when
the season finally gets underway. In what what are we
like fifty seven days away? Well, we got to open

(10:43):
twenty days away from the Texans and Bears playing, ah
from the exhibition. When I get to see you know,
Steve McMichael enshrined in the Hall of Fame, it's going
to be an emotional night, very big for me and
obviously very emotional in the city of Chicago. You know,
the good thoughts and prayers for McMichael and his family
and caretakers, but yeah, just the larger thing, you know

(11:05):
where we're at in the calendar. You mentioned Summer League.
That's a big story. In the background. We're getting ready
for the Olympics. We'll talk a little bit of the
Euro twenty twenty four in Copa America. Huge ratings winners
for Fox, no question about it. Like all of these
things swirling, and then when we get back to the
heart of it with the off season, hard knocks and

(11:26):
then the Bears are gonna be hard knocks. Look, it's
a show that if I didn't do this for a living,
I don't think I'd walk anywhere near it.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
I'm not gonna lie.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
It's kind of like everybody that was doing the lamentation
of oh no in the NBA is gonna go away.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
You know what.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
It came from people in our business who were sad
that they were gonna lose their B and C blocks
the next day based on whatever the hell Charles Barkley
said that was the lamentation.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Fans are like, ach, you know what, it had a
good run, good for them.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
No in our business, like, oh man, now we're actually
gonna have to sit in our group thing and come
up with something that wasn't straight off of what they.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
Had to say so that, at least that's my thought
on it.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
But it's it's the idea that for the Giants and Bears,
they're two franchise that did everything they could to skate
away from this stuff for the longest time, and finally
it's like, you know, hiding away from jury duty or
whatever else. Eventually you're getting that postcard in the mail.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
It's coming.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
What is what are the I'm asking this as I'm
googling it right now, what teams haven't done hard knocks before?

Speaker 2 (12:29):
It's good question, and I don't. I don't.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
The Bears haven't had no, okay, no, they were able
to successfully skirt it for a very long time. By
the way, down in San Diego right now they are
having the Anchorman Giant mascot race, you know, where you
win like a pepsi or something. Really Yeah, it's pretty good.
Champ Kin's got a giant ass cowboy hat on. It's
kind of flapping in the breeze. I kind of dig that.

(12:52):
By the way, a couple of teams here, just real quick.
The Bears have not ever done hard knocks. The Carolina
Panthers have never done hard knocks. Now it teems like
they would have forced them somewhere alone. Right at some
point you get shoehorned in there. I think Temper deserves
it just for being Temper Viking Saints. You mentioned the Giants, Okay,
I still can't believe the Eagles didn't do hard knocks.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
Wow huh.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
But so basically, what we're seeing is some teams that
we've been wanting to know a little bit more about
how the sausage is made. We're getting that, the Giants
in the front office, and then an about you, dude.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
And I'm not.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
Trying to get over our skis here in the first segment,
but I'm not somebody that's going to talk you down
on Caleb williams hype. I think the dude's an absolute
freaking rock star. I think he's going to become elite.
I think he's going to be the franchise quarterback the
Bears have always wanted and needed, and I think he's
gonna make him must see TV. So count me in
as one of those that I'm with. You probably wouldn't

(13:47):
be watching it, Kayleb Williams wasn't on it, but I'm
in for it, and I can't wait to see how
he I gotta come up with a fancy word here
matriculates himself.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
So he done.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
Yeah, into the locker room and in that relationship with
his teammates, because I think having the Bears on knocks
seeing Caleb Williams is gonna be huge.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Yeah, just real quick.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
Jalen Johnson, you know, one of the leaders there. He's
been doing the rounds media wise, just praising Williams, and
to a man, at games, they're they're very excited about it.
I'm a little bummed because it means a bunch of
people are jumping on board the bandwagon thinking that I've
been diving, you know, dying with you know since nineteen
eighty five. You know, I did have that glorious Rex

(14:23):
Grossman year. What you remembered for Devin Hester one of
the plays that gets him to the Hall of Fame
and Prince singing Purple Rain in the rain, Remember Manning
wasn't very good in that suit.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
That was the page that was the halftime Prince show. Yes,
it was, Oh look at us. There you have it.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
So we we tie it all together and you know
what we're gonna bring in Jason Cole talk a little
more NFL as we get things started.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
Don't worry.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
Plenty of Jalen Brunson talk. I love that I get
to do this with Jason not here. Oh gosh, so
you know he's he's just dying that he's not here
tonight to talk about the greatest team move that we've
seen from a star player in a minute. It's it's
glorious stuff. But I'm sure on Monday that's what I'll
do for two hours.

Speaker 2 (15:03):

Pauley Foods Go Ahead with Tony Foods Go Yeah.

Speaker 5 (15:44):
As everybody knows we're the hosts of the award winning
Polly and Tony Foodsco Show. Yeah, but instead of us
telling you how great we are, here's how Dan Fackrick
described us when he came on our show.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
Quick, knowledgeable and funny, opinionated.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
You don't interrupting our promo. He wasn't talking about you.
You took those clips totally of context.

Speaker 5 (16:04):
Oh yeah, well after this promo, I'm gonna take you
out and beat you.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
Let me put this into context. Shut up. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (16:11):
Anyway, just listening to the Folly and Tony Fusco Show
on iHeartRadio, Apple Podcasts.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
Ohereba you get your podcasts?

Speaker 3 (16:17):
Yea, Hey, welcome back in It's Fox Sports Radio Jason
Smith Show with Me Mike Harbon No Smith tonight in Theory.
He's taken whatever medication or self medication he's got to
do to get on a plane, come back stateside, and
we'll catch him up on everything he's missed. The only
thing I've gotten from him, plank, is a couple of

(16:40):
things where he's going all in on the McDonald's menus
that are a little bit different.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
Different. Oh yeah, they've got different things with cheese. They
weren't lining.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
No, no, no, I'll send you the picture he sent
me in one of the menus. See, yeah, it looked
a little crazy. Chris Plank in for Jason tonight at
play show is where you find him in the Twitter verse.
You hear him Sunday Nights alongside Arnie Spaniard, one of
those you know, just try to grab the reins and
hold on type a wild ride, no question, every three

(17:14):
hour shift you got there. We got Summer League going on.
Let's see the White Sox lost again. Yeah, all's right
with the world, you know. That just goes back and
then Aaron Boone now having to answer for the fact
that they hit kursed Ed in the head in the
ninth inning. So a lot of chaos there. That's the
way you get go into an All Star break. You
are not limping into an All Star break there. It

(17:37):
is let's battle in the Al's judge hits a home
run and at the end of the game we get
some fireworks.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
They'll steer down. I guess it helped bring in the
bosses on the road, huh.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
I guess it helped. Whenever Brian Cashman says, hey, we
gotta do what we can to try to make sure
we get things right. Yeah, because they started fine and
then the pitchings started to sail just a little bit, certainly,
not like the uh panic ship over here with the Dodgers.
But you know what, let's jump out to the hotline.
Let's get back into the National Football League and all

(18:11):
things chaos with our guy, Jason Cole at Jason Cole
sixty two, where you find him in the Twitter verse.
You can also read all his music's there, but he's
also got eight books that you can find at bookstores
near you and certainly on Amazon. Go and and become
more learned like him. It's Jason Cole.

Speaker 4 (18:30):
Hi doo, buddy, I'm Rissmith. Is he like Scouting Browning
or something like that.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
Well, based on the news of today, the potential was that,
you know, he's out celebrating the Brunson contract, but instead, no,
he he is actually overseas. Yeah, he's overseas, So I
went overseas.

Speaker 4 (18:50):
For a few may's celebrating the Brunston contract. Like he's
screaming at French people brun and they think it's I
and just like you know, you're running. Yeah, he's on
the and he's screaming brunts. I can see that.

Speaker 3 (19:08):
I kind of like that. It's kind of like pumping
iron when Lufaigno is.

Speaker 4 (19:13):
Yeah, where did he get get allowed to be? Like?
Where does the state department allow him to go?

Speaker 3 (19:18):
So he was able to go to, uh, London and
I think Scotland. They were kind of doing some of
the filming locations and stuff of the Harry Potter universe, which.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
Is pretty cool really.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
The one piece of correspondence I got from him J
Cole during his time off is a picture of a
McDonald's menu that included something called the hat trick, so it's.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
A triple burda.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
I saw that with the Mazzarella bites as well, So
there you go.

Speaker 4 (19:46):
Oh, that doesn't sound good. But maybe he'll find Aaron
Rodgers over there or something like that.

Speaker 3 (19:52):
Well, he's and Aaron Rodgers is out hitting golf balls
and putting it out in the world. How much he'd
love to hang out with the Adams again. That seems
to be the theme of the week. How do we
get these two back together?

Speaker 2 (20:05):
That sounded like a monumental cell phone melt.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
I hope he's okay that that sounded right? Does he
invoked the name of Rogers and look what happened. That's yeah,
there's times where it just drops off and it was
almost as if some sort of code came in and
cut Jason Cole off in the middle of No, that's
just it. Wow, by the way, I think we got
him back. Hey, j Cole, I mean I think so.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
That what was that shade screwing it up?

Speaker 3 (20:34):
I think the football gods came and tried to smite
you for smirching the name of Aaron Rodgers, for.

Speaker 4 (20:40):
Mocking him, for wanting Devanteavante Adams back. I don't think.
So we've got to make stuff up here that the
gods want. They want, they want soap opera, So let's
bring them Adams and Rogers into this. So I think
that'd be fascinating. And and what are the Raiders really doing?

(21:04):
Like that's really the question.

Speaker 2 (21:06):
That's one, Yeah, Chris, there's a Raiders Raiders guy. So
if you asked that question.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
Every single day, Jason Cole, what are you talking? What
exactly are we doing? I will say, I am I
am surprised that we haven't had that get me out
of here moment from DeVante Adams at least publicly. Didn't
we have that this week with all of his pressers
and media appearances, ja Cole, isn't that what this was?

Speaker 4 (21:29):
Ill? It snows a little bit like that. I mean,
I think, but wouldn't he have done this before? Could
you have done this way early in the off season?
Why wait till? Why wait until now? Like you could
have gotten you could have gotten onto a new team
and work with somebody. But if you're thinking, Okay, I'll
just go work with Rogers because I know how to

(21:50):
do that, that makes a lot of sense. I mean,
but I don't know. The timing is a little weird.
I guess as all I'm saying, But Adams, maybe he
just woke up this week and realize, oh, I'm still
on the Raiders. This sucks. I mean, that might have
just happened, you know.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
I can see that, and then certain things will be
said in different media scrumps, and then I'll go back
like a day later and be like, no, I'm committed
to the Raiders.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
I'm committed to being here. Not to dwell on this, but.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
I've decided that Dak Prescott is going to be a
Raider in twenty twenty six. I just are maybe twenty
twenty five now with this contract. But I still can't
believe that if you're you're really trying to make a
run of it in the AFC, I don't think that
you can do it with a combination of Gardner Minshew
and a O'Connell. I mean, I don't know if you
could do it with the majority of the quarterbacks that

(22:45):
we're taken in the first round, Jason Cole. But you
got to shoot your shot. That to me is still
the most surprising thing. Just as a final thought on
the Raiders, they never really did anything, I think, to
truly upgrade their quarterback position.

Speaker 4 (22:57):
Look, nothing works in Las Vegas like Gardner Minshew and George.
It's really like there's something special about that right right
now now. Actually, when I think about Gardner Minshew and
Aidan o'conna, when you say their names like that, I
think that there they should be Scottish dolphers as well,

(23:17):
which is probably a better career choice than being a
Raiders quarterback. It's certainly a better choice for the Raiders
to have them quarterbacks. Yeah, Look, you're so far behind
in the battle for on quarterbacks right and and I
don't know what's going to earn have with bow Knicks

(23:38):
or Zach Wilson. I mean, well, I know what's gonna
happen with Zach Wilson.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
He's no longer a jet. He could be good now, No, okay, no,
that's right now, because I got of need.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
That to happen for my normal partner sitting next to you,
you know, for his I.

Speaker 4 (23:57):
Got I got it, for his new roses. You need,
we need to feed his neuroses by having Zach Wilson
become a Hall of Famer. I get it. And but
then of course she'll just rag on the Hall of
Fame because that's all Gaber does. But that's not happening. Okay,
So at best, the Raiders have the third best quarterback

(24:19):
situation they have, but they they're bankrupt in terms of
the velocity that that bankruptcy to be like that one. Yeah, yeah,
I just there's never any plan. And then when they
sort of start to get a plan, then as soon
as things go wrong and the fans start to yell

(24:42):
with Mark David, they changed the plan again. So this
is why they're forever They're forever going to suck because
they just don't have an idea and they're still trying
to figure out how to Like what was this news about,
Like Richard Seaman, we're joining in with Tom Brady to
buy and like he's trying to sell ten percent of

(25:02):
the team. Like this system doesn't make any sense that
you're you know, like you bring those guys in for
like half a percent or a percent, you don't bring
them in for ten percent because that's such a huge
amount that the people who the other the minority owners
of the Raiders, who have a right to match any

(25:24):
offer on percentage of the team, They're going to sit
there and go, well, we'll just buy it right like
you can. You can't sell that. You can't sell that
to Brad and Seymore without us having a chance to
say no, we want it instead of them. And so
I don't know how Mark Davis is going to get
around it. I don't know how this is going to work.

(25:45):
And I don't know why I bring them Seymour in
changes it. But that has nothing to do with with
on the field. But you know, if I'm DeVante Adams,
I'm looking at this whole thing going, yeah, I think
relocations idea.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
Jake ol have you watched any of the first couple
of episodes of the off season hard knock.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
With the Giants. Okay, there's a couple of good, good
clips that.

Speaker 3 (26:12):
Have gone around that really make them look like they
absolutely know me maybe even less of what they're doing
than the Raiders do. Uh, in terms of how they
handled Saquon Barkley and some of the other situations related
to free agency and such.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
It's kind of a mess.

Speaker 3 (26:29):
And then we're going to get the Bears in a
couple of short weeks, who are trying, you know, to
bring back and echo the old Chicago. Hope was about
a hospital Christine Lottie and Mandy Patinkin hell of a
show back in the day, and that's really it, hope
and change in Chicago.

Speaker 4 (26:46):
Well, you know that's what you get with Caleb Williams.
I mean, you get some hope now that that who's
gonna Who's gonna turn this thing around. I did see
the clip on on and Daniel looking confused like he
didn't know what he was talking about, right, And to me, like,

(27:10):
if you're the Giants, that's a really bad look for
you to do that league wide about a player. And
I know that they have control over what gets shown,
but for you to be so small to embarrass the
player like that. And I know that you know it's

(27:30):
a it's a division foe, but you you know, like
that's just not something that you do to a guy,
because that's kind of stuff gets around and so players
are looking at that going if Dave All is going
to sign off on embarrassing a player from another team,
he's he's always going to like, he's not going to

(27:53):
think twice about embarrassing anybody. And that comes back to
like just not thinking through the an element of what
you're dealing with. And I hate to be serious like this.
It's that I immediately thought to myself, why are the
Giants doing that to a young player? And what does

(28:13):
that say about about their process and how they think
about protecting players. And the answer is they're not.

Speaker 3 (28:21):
See suddenly, you know, Jerry Bucks and Cowboy Bees don't
look so crazy anymore.

Speaker 4 (28:29):
Well, I mean, the Cowboys are the I mean, nothing matches.
But come on, like take the Bears, the Giants, the Raiders,
and you put it all together and you you just
start to barely approach Cowboy Bees, you really do. I mean,
they are so out there in terms of you know,

(28:51):
just every week. It's another way of how are we
going to let Dak Prescott or Mike McCarthy or somebody
on the team, you know, Micah Parsis, How are we
going to just let them twist in the wind and
all for all for sort of the the giggles right
for for Jarry Jones to go. People are talking about it.

(29:13):
See what they're talking about it. And if they're talking
about it, we're winning. No, no, you're really not winning.
You're not winning. You're just you're not well, yeah, no exactly,
you're just you're this popularity and you know, discussion and
soap operaingness does not equate to winning. But that's what

(29:35):
Jerry thinks.

Speaker 3 (29:36):
But you know what, it's good for us at Jason
Cole sixty two where you find him on Twitter, it's
good to get back in the throes of this training camps,
getting ready to open up twenty days to.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
The who all round all that.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
Thanks all right, thanks very stopping down with us. Buddy,
It's good good. Jason Cole on the Hotline with us,
Jason Smith Show with Me, Mike Harmon, No, Jason Smith,
we got Chris in his debt at Plank Show is
where you find him as we come to you from
the Tirac dot Com Fox Sports Radio studios. Now it's
time to welcome in a man who is perhaps the
most knowledgeable man.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
I know.

Speaker 3 (30:11):
I'd put him up against anybody. It's Steve Disager.

Speaker 6 (30:14):
Oh, I didn't see where you were going with that.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
It's me. Oh, I know how about that.

Speaker 3 (30:19):
I know it's normally derision and hate as people throw
to you, Steve, I gave you some flowers.

Speaker 2 (30:25):
And hello, do you both good to hear you on
the area.

Speaker 6 (30:28):
We will talk baseball in just a moment while you
were talking football. Yes, Bears versus Texans August, first Hall
of Fame exhibition. But as we mentioned on the Sunday
Night Show, we get excited about the laundry. This is
not actual NFL football. I'm not saying don't get excited,
just saying it's not worth watching four quarters of in August.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
That's ours.

Speaker 6 (30:48):
Every other team will start the preseason at least a
week later. NFL rookies report to training camp for Baltimore tomorrow.
I guess because they're playing early in September. I mean
they and nobody else.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
You got me, Hey, you know what with a what
is it you energy? Whatever is and he's stealing from
his brother, Yeah.

Speaker 6 (31:07):
And seemingly his brother Jim Harror stealing every Baltimore Ravens
in the offseason the other Way. Report dates for some
other teams are next week, including some reporting on the sixteenth.
Jalen Brunson agreed to an extension with the NIXT three
years plus a player option. Utah resigned Johnny Juzang. Detroit
is hiring Luke Walton as lead assistant. According to the Athletic,

(31:29):
the NBA Summer League in Vegas started today. Houston beat
the Lakers ninety nine to eighty. First rounder Reed Shepherd
twenty three points, Laker first rounder Dalton Connect twenty five points,
Laker second rounder Bronnie James three of fourteen shooting from
the floor eight points, and he had six points in
his first six minutes on the court. It did not
go well after that three point shooting. He was oh

(31:51):
of eight. Bronnie James no assists, three turnovers in the WNBA.
Among the three games, another Las Vegas win and Indiana
defeated five Phoenix as Kaitlin Clark had twenty points thirteen assists.
A reminder of the Euro Soccer finalist Sunday three pm
Eastern Time, and the Copa America finalist Sunday night, both
of those on Fox TV. At Wimbledon, Carlos Alcarez won

(32:13):
his semi final in four sets. Ludvig Oberg leads the
Scottish Open by one stroke. To Major League Baseball, the
Yankees had a chance to close out the win. Pitching
in the ninth at Baltimore Tonight.

Speaker 3 (32:24):
Proto avoid the division lead snap through a game and
curse tackets hit in at Helmets and that.

Speaker 6 (32:31):
Caused bench's emptying arguments as manager Brandon high to the
O's was kicked out and yelling at the Yankee dugout.
Clay Holmes stayed in got the save for New York
bass In with that call. There had been some hit
batters in previous Yankees Orioles matchups. Needless to say, the
O's are first in the Al East, but the lead
is down to one game over New York and the Yankees.

(32:52):
Aaron Judge tonight in this four to one victory, hit
his thirty third home run of the season. The Dodgers
won four to three at Detroit show Hey O Toni
with an RBI double in the top of the ninth
for the lead. Oakland won at Philadelphia six to two,
wins for Pittsburgh and the Mets. By the way, Pittsburgh
a four to one winner at the White Sox and Pirates.
Rookie pitcher Paul Skenes will start the All Star Game

(33:14):
Tuesday night on Fox TV. Speaking of said White Sox,
this is an anniversary. Mister Harmony said, yeah, both would apply.
July twelfth, nineteen seventy nine, Comiski Park in Chicago famed
disco demilation nights where they blew up records between two
games of a double header. Sold out the place, other

(33:37):
fans couldn't get in apparently, and we're outside, but it
went haywire so badly that the White Sox wound up
having to forfeit game two of the double header. It
was never played anniversary of it on this night.

Speaker 2 (33:50):
Yeah, blowing up things on the infield grass probably not
a good idea.

Speaker 6 (33:55):
Apparently, you know this is Bill Veck, his history of
second Yeah, ideas owning the baseball clubs and see what
kind of promotions you can get. Apparently one of the
promotions for this night is you could get in for
under a Buck if you bring a disco record to
blow up.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
To add to the pile.

Speaker 3 (34:11):
The legendary DJ Steve Dahl, a Chicago staple for a
couple of decades, grew up listening to him on the radios,
and then I eventually, you know, was able to listen
to Mike North, so I changed from my classic rock
to a classic voice like Mike North. So you know,
we get all of that. But yeah, just an amazing event,
no question about it.

Speaker 2 (34:30):
Thanks Steve.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
That's a good memory right there again, still sad versus
said in the semantics and parsing out the language of
it all.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
Appreciate you, Steve.

Speaker 3 (34:40):
We got more with Steve later on in the show
Chris Plank in for Jason Smith at Plank Show where
you find him find me over at Swollen.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
Dome coming out next.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
Steve talked about Paul Skens becoming the All Star starting
pitch here for the National League. Well, some betting odds
have changed immensely over the last twenty four hours, and
one guy with a big ticket said, I'm cashing out.

Speaker 2 (35:04):
We'll tell you what it was all about next, Yaron Fox.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show.
With Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
Hey, welcome back ed Fox Sports a Radio Jason Smith
Show with me Mike Harmon. We've got our got Chris
Planke in for Jason tonight at Plank Show. Find me
over at Swollen Dome. Coming up in about ten minutes.
We'll get into the Jalen Brunson contract obligatory Knicks talk
when Jason's out here.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
I actually want to do.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
You know, a long expos expository kind of thing on
it now because he's not here to you know, go
Nix Nicks, Nicks, Nicks Nicks.

Speaker 2 (35:41):
When I'm trying to make a salient point.

Speaker 3 (35:43):
Well, you don't have someone cramming it down your throat.
And it's a big story. It's kind of like, you
know what, I'd like to talk about this now a
little bit without just being told, well, this has happening
because it's done by my team. It's the greatest decision
that's ever been made in the history man. That's right, calm, collected,
rational discussion with a little bit of hot take mixed in.
We'll do that in about ten minutes. But story that

(36:03):
I wanted to get to because the Paul Skeens. It's
off the charts, right, Livy Dunn on the sb's red
carpet being asked about him getting pulled. We were on
area yesterday, Martin Weiss and I Chris as he gets
pulled out of the game. Ninety nine pitches, seven no
hit innings, eleven strikeouts. Already done that twice this year

(36:24):
in their careers total. I think it was Schuerzer and
Randy Johnson did that twice in their entire careers.

Speaker 2 (36:32):
Like when we start talking.

Speaker 3 (36:33):
About legends and everything, but there was a whole thing about,
you know, prop bets related to schemes because when he
got called up to the to the major leagues, right,
he didn't start up in the majors, but he comes
out and the odds to start were two hundred to
one for him to win the NLSA young ooh, someone

(36:55):
had a seventy five dollars ticket at two hundred to
one payout on prop swap fifteen seventy five dollars. What
would be the total money you can make? Is that
the total money? Or is that that's trying? So that's
what so they he sold his beat. Okay, now he
got the guy who bought it got it at odds

(37:16):
of eleven to one well as of today. Right yesterday,
going into his start, he was down to twenty to one.
After yesterday's start at bet MGM, he's four to one
for the National League, Si Young.

Speaker 2 (37:34):
Why wouldn't you just why wouldn't you run it?

Speaker 3 (37:36):
Because you can cash out a seventy five dollars bet
for fifteen k, So what would the total money? Would
have been impressive if he would have carried it out.
Let's do the math. I can't. I was told there
would be no math to well, you know what I like,
including math, and normally it puts me at a really
good competitive advantage. You can't do math. I can't do math,

(37:59):
so for me it becomes you know, kind of a
big deal. Yeah, so he got his he got his
fifteenth Yeah, but did got one thousand, so the year
is there. He took twelve hundred and seventy five bucks,
so would have paid out fifteen thousand.

Speaker 2 (38:18):
So let's see.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
Okay, so twelve seventy five, nothing out, so he made
seventeen times his money.

Speaker 2 (38:27):
Forgot to let it out? Now would you let a playout?

Speaker 3 (38:30):
Well, it's a seventy five dollars. Bet, I mean how much?
How much did you need? The twelve seventy five, I
guess is what it comes down to. Did your car
just go out? Did you lose maybe a refrigerator?

Speaker 2 (38:41):
Do you see another bat? You could put twelve hundred dollars,
Well that's the other day.

Speaker 3 (38:44):
Maybe you're you know, looking at NFL futures or or
all of those kind of things. So yeah, it was
a two hundred and one, so seventy five dollars wager
that would have paid out fifteen K.

Speaker 2 (38:56):
He took twelve seventy.

Speaker 3 (38:57):
Five and left, and now he's down to four to
one based on the heroics of yesterday, isn't it? Isn't
it wild to see a headline? And again, I think
about this a lodge Mike, because I grew up in
the era where if you talk I grew up I
was getting my start and radio in the era where
if you talked about gambling it was a scarlet letter.

(39:18):
How dare Every once in a while I would get
a nice note, So could you? Yeah, it's like, can
you not do that? I'm like, but it's relevant to
what we're doing for fantasy football. We got a handicapper
on now, don't do that again. But to see this
headline Pirates Ace disrupting betting market, it's just I don't
know why brings a smile to my face that we're
embracing it now that we have a whole arm, a
whole wing of our sports world that is dedicated to

(39:40):
what the lines you I mean, I know we're all
smiling the fact that it said pirates ace, but hey,
keep the pirates as right and listen. I know we
had some interesting things happen in the heismanads. We'll get
to a little bit later on in the program. But
I don't know, man, I feel like scheme's beyond just
the betting market, right two hundred and one for the
cy Young that you talked about, beyond just you know,

(40:01):
the sensational rock star that is his girlfriend Jason.

Speaker 2 (40:05):
He's kind of becoming mussy TV for me there when
he starts. He did it one.

Speaker 3 (40:10):
You just called me Jason oh s a merit. No,
but definitely's must see, right, and baseball needs this. Baseball
needs as much as we're going to celebrate the All
Star Game with thirty four new guys or however many
first timers there are, and all that, and we've got
Judge and look, we've got no Tony.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
I mean, we've got superstars.

Speaker 3 (40:28):
But whenever you can suddenly thrust another guy into the
picture like this, who's that electric? Every start, every fifth day,
it's ridiculous. Like I do the trading card market still
and not as much in terms of buying, starting to
divest a bunch of what I've got, But you know,
watching the schemes cards from the last two years, and

(40:49):
the marketplace has been immense. And Tops does a thing
where they do these tops now cards is what they
call it. So when there's a big milestone, a big moment,
they did a card when he struck out Otani when
they faced off a couple of weeks ago. It's it's
on like fifty thousand copies. My gosh, right, people are like,
I gotta get one of those, and the picture isn't

(41:09):
very good. I bought a couple of them. I'll be
happy to send you one, but it's it's but it
was that momentous. And now from yesterday's start, they got
part of the rosin bag and one of the baseballs
that they're cutting up to put into into cards, and
they'll be serially numbered, probably some autograph parallels whatever.

Speaker 2 (41:29):
Like, He's a whole other marketplace under himself.

Speaker 3 (41:31):
Now now we got to get him better on his interviews, right,
I need to have a little bit more juice, Paul Skins,
I need to have a little bit more juice. But
on the mound, he's been fantastic. Man, it's been must sy.
But to be fair, you get pulled after that. How
much juice you got? I just been listening to the
promo from the Dan Patrick Show. Yeah, thank you, thank
I'm very excited about that. I get it he was
upset about that, and I get it he was tired.

(41:52):
But I also understand. I need my gotta be electric,
j Mike, I need to be electric.

Speaker 2 (41:58):
Gotta have some juice. Just who's got more juice?

Speaker 3 (42:01):
At Plank Show at Swollen Dome Coming up next, we
talk all things Jalen brunts and the good, the bad,
the ugly, and white people need to stop whining.
