(00:51):
guys tonight, Jason Smith and his best friend Mike Carmon
right here on Foxsports Radio. Still a busy show. Lows
to get to my going to join us later on
this hour, we'll have underrated and Overrated, So we'll get
to that a little bit. One thing I wanted to
start off this hour with VJ. Big news coming from
the people here at Fox Sports Fox Sports one, Fox
(01:13):
Sports one TV people have been tweeting me about the rumor. Yes,
it's true. Skip Bayless is stepping down from his TV
show at the end of the summer, so I assume
we're talking late August, so another what four to six
more weeks and Skip will be stepping down. Did you
watch that show? I'm a fan of Skips.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
I like the show.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
I also liked it when it was with Shannon a
lot more though when they were together, I thought there
was some good debate, but I always enjoyed it. I
thought people were hard on Skip way too much than
he deserved. But I was one of the fans of
the show VJ.
Speaker 5 (01:54):
Now I don't watch a lot of debate show TV.
I have my own two TV shows out here at a
Fanity TV out here in Los Angeles. Got my son, cam,
my four year old son, my two year old daughter Journey.
So my son's on a spectrum man, so he requires
a lot of daddy's attention. So I don't have time
to watch that during it day, especially in the summertime
where we're doing a lot going out, going places, trying
to get as much daddy time in with my little
(02:15):
ones as I can bro before school starts. He's a
full kindergartener this year, so he's not getting out early.
He's got a full day, so I'm trying to spend
as much time with them. Someone in the business once
told me, don't watch too much and don't listen too much.
He listened to my demo tape. Right I had a
demo Little Real and Mike Hill say, hey, send it
to this guy. He was over at ESPN. I sent
it to me, listened to it. He goes, you're good,
(02:37):
and you can make something to this business. It'll take
you a little longer because I wasn't on the path
of you know, journalism in school, in college. I went
to the military straight out of high school and then
went to play semi pro football. He told me, he goes,
don't listen to too much and don't watch too much
because it will start to infiltrate the way you see
things and the way you hear things, and the way
you've used sports. So I cut out on debate shows
about a decade ago. Oh wow, Oh yeah, I've cut
(02:59):
out on I've cut I see clips, I've seen.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
What said like around the horn.
Speaker 5 (03:04):
Oh no, no, no, that's not a debate show though. Okay,
see that's what I love around the Horn. I watch
it every day. That and I grew up in the DNV,
so I grew up with the Washington Post, so I
grew up reading. My introduction to sports journalism. Sports reporting
was Michael Wilbon and Tony Kornheiser, right, So I've been
with those guys since I was freaking eight years old.
So when they got a TV show, that's the first
(03:25):
time I saw what they looked like because I was
just reading their words in the Washington Posts. I used
to get in trouble for taking the sports page every day.
My stepdad hated that. He's all if the sports page
wasn't there, he knew what was, and then I would
take it in my room and it would make him
even more upset because they're get in trouble and I'd
hide it once he was looking for it instead of
just going all right, pas, look man, I was trying
to see what the skins are, the bullets, or just
(03:45):
trying to see what the Dolphins did last night. They
didn't air the game here, so I don't know what happened.
This is before you know they Internet. So when you
had to get the paper, you know, or you had
to listen to radio to figure out what was going
on in sports. So no, I haven't watched the show
in a in a long time, but I do respect him.
He's put a lot into this business for the for
the stuff he takes. You know, some of it maybe
(04:05):
rightfully so because of the whole Lebron angle and then,
but he's been in this business.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Cowboys, he obviously, but.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
That's I'm never gonna knock anybody for being a fan
of their team because I'm a fan of my squads.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
But he goes all the way back.
Speaker 5 (04:18):
If if you remember the Pony Excess thirty for thirty
about the SMU scandal. Right when I saw him on that,
that changed my whole perspective of him because I didn't
know he'd worked for the Dallas Star or The Morning
or whatever. There were two competing papers in Dallas at
the time, for the for the old school Big eight, right,
and he worked for one of them, and that became
the hustle to see who can get that story. When
(04:40):
I saw him on that documentary, I'm like, wow, skip
goes all the way back to that, and it made
me go, yeah, people, this guy knows what he's taught. Yeah,
he's got some crazy opinions. But at the end of
the day, when you see his body of work and
how long he's been in this business and how he started,
he gotta kind of tip your hat. The TV stuff
is TV stuff, but he's done a lot in his
career for the business.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
Is there best thing? I mean, first of all, do
people other than your just us?
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Do people get up?
Speaker 4 (05:06):
I gotta watch Skip, I gotta watch debate Joe, I
gotta I gotta watch the Morning Ors or the next
thing coming?
Speaker 3 (05:11):
What is? What is the next content?
Speaker 5 (05:14):
Content? Get on radio content. I tell any young kids
that I'm mentor create content. That's how I got to Arnie,
That's how I got here. I don't come from the
journalism schools. I don't CAD and I'm not because I
wish I had. I wish i'd have taken a different route.
Because I respect sports writers. I respect the stories all
I interned here or interned their back. Oh I know
that announcer because I worked with him. I turned their
(05:34):
twenty years. Like I don't have those stories. I like
to hear that type of stuff from people that make
me jealous.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
That make me hate.
Speaker 5 (05:40):
It makes me go, okay, cool, your your journey was cool,
but mine's cool too. But mine's different.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
So I did.
Speaker 5 (05:45):
I didn't take that route. So I've had to put
out content. It's how I got noticed and how somebody said, okay, hey,
let me let me make let me make a call
for you. Mike Hill. You know who Mike Hill is,
Easier Sports Radio FS one. That's my big brother in
Mint and Mental in this business. He was the first
guy that picked up a phone. It said, V, hold
on call. Somebody on three way clicked back over V.
(06:05):
This is such and such, such and such, this is V.
Y'all go ahead and wrap. I'm gonna put the phone down.
I pitched myself. The guy had me in New York
in four days at Serious Highlight Radio on the Scott
Farrel show, How We're sterning one on one talking about
the Final four coming up, And it took off from there.
But it came from, you know, sitting on an air
mattress in a one bedroom apartment recording my own show
on the mattress because I was broke as hell and
I thought my girlfriend was gonna break up with me,
and I didn't know what to do with my life.
(06:27):
That's how I got started in sports talk.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
But that's what I want to know, though. What what
do people do want to watch? I mean, do they
want to see the baby? We want to see the car?
Speaker 3 (06:35):
Bunch of guys going back and forth.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
It's about you know, who's the best team or was
that offensive.
Speaker 5 (06:41):
Or you know, even though we complain about it, they wanted.
We want the car crash man, which is sad because
I myself, you and I'm Ladie.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
We have fun, bro. We we will debate, but we
have fun.
Speaker 5 (06:51):
When we talked carcreps entertaining, thought provoking sports.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
That's how I like to do it. Now.
Speaker 5 (06:56):
I can sit here and yell back and forth and
argue and get it and well, you're a guy, didn't this,
so you're a team that I could do that, But
I feel like the business is saturated with that.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
So I try to stay who I am.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
I Pops and my mom always said, just be who
you are, don't try to be anything else, and do
it with passion, and do it with full force and
everything will work out. But people want the car crash, bro,
even even myself. If there's a car crash on the
Highway tomorrow morning. Aren't you're gonna look over?
Speaker 3 (07:22):
You're gonna look You're gonna look over even.
Speaker 5 (07:24):
Though you know what's going on. You you can't, you know, sup,
help yourself? Put up a barrier. Yeah, like, uh, we're
down to look at the barrier, right, they just sl
look at that.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
If you want to get a real simple, big vanilla
fuddy up and stinking genius one, I do want to
go ahead and get to some football. I you know
Fox Sports, they got everybody together. I believe this is
from the TV side. They made their football picks. But
I want to do yours first. You wanted to give
your top ten NFL teams coming into this season.
Speaker 5 (07:56):
Do you want to start at number one? Or do
you want to start at number ten? I started number
so let's go backward. Let's start at number ten. And
the reason why and this is this will change. This
is going into training camp, right, and so things change exactly.
Barn Andrey or bar is some veteran we don't see
coming getting cut because he looks like he might have
showed up out of shape, and then he's not really
playing that well in the preseason games, and the front
(08:17):
office goes you know what, let's save our money.
Speaker 6 (08:19):
Now.
Speaker 5 (08:19):
This guy's not in it. He's coming up on a
contract year. You know, he's he got a chunk them up.
We also, we always see that. So but I'll just
jump right into us to don't take a lot of time.
Number ten for me to the Cleveland Browns. I love
the Cleveland Browns. I love the rushing attack. They're gonna
get chubbed back their defense and Marik Cooper, Miles Garrett
like they they have dudes. Last year five and zero
games decided by three points or less, so they win.
(08:42):
They win close games. And remember they finished eleven and
six last year in a very tough division, which might
be the toughest division in football.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
This year, we was gonna be the AFC North. They
could be.
Speaker 5 (08:51):
There could be all four teams over five hundred like
it was last year. And now we got a problem.
One of these other AFC divisions are not getting on
wild card.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
Joe, by the way we see it on the same page.
I had Cleveland at number nine.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
Okay, so we got yeah, exactly, Ladarius Smith, big guy.
They brought over Quentin Jefferson, veteran thirty one years old,
but he's not for He's not for seventeen games, Quin
Jefferson's for later in the year when it's cold and
it's muddy and it's tracking in the field sucks, and
you got to just have a big plug in the
middle to stop the run and give your defense a
chance to make some plays. I thought that was a
really good pick up Jerry Judy. Maybe he changed the
(09:26):
scenery is what he needed. Dallas is at number nine.
For me, I still think they're a top ten team, Arnie.
I still there. There's still load of a talent. They
got some contract stuff. You got Jerry Jones, you got
the sign, you got the show, the radio appearances.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
But when you put him on the.
Speaker 5 (09:41):
Field, I still think Micah Diggs, CD DAK they still
got some dudes.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
Man, they still got some guys.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
It's funny that you putting that. I put him in
number eight, so we did not go through it.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
No, he didn't know. He didn't And I have no
idea what your listeners.
Speaker 4 (09:56):
Matter of fact, I only wanted to do top five,
but I added the five more. I have Dallas at numbraighte,
so we kind of see that about the same alsom.
Speaker 5 (10:03):
Yep, all right, Number eight I got the Houston Texans,
but I have him here. But I think this is
gonna change. I think this is gonna slide down once
we get through training camping through preseason because even though CJ.
Stroud had a great year last year, I gotta see
him do it again.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
I just do.
Speaker 5 (10:17):
You're a rookie. Now they have tape on you. Before
they just had college tape on you. When it defensive coaches,
when they get tape on rookies, it goes one way
or another. You either get better or you have a
sophomore That's where the term sophomore slump came from, right,
It came from quarterbacks falling off a little bit. But
Ryan's I love Anderson to pick out of Alabama. He's
a defensive stud. They bring over Diggs now, is Dig's
(10:39):
gonna play nice? Yeah, big pickup, but it's really a
rental because he wants to be a free agent again.
So he took a lot of money up front. They
adjusted some contract numbers and justin do books to work?
Will he play nice? If things don't go right, if
his quarterback hits a sophomore slump, that's gonna be something
to watch for. That's gonna be huge to watch work
because he played nice and with Joss Allen until things
(11:01):
started to look like it was going backwards, and then
he showed I'm Stefan Dicks. The same thing happened in Minnesota.
Tiger doesn't change his stripes. We got to remember that.
Speaker 3 (11:08):
Kids. Schedule's tough for him though.
Speaker 5 (11:11):
Seventh artists schedule and they only have four road wins
Nico Schultz, they add mixing, but three games that worry me.
They played Dallas, Casey and Baltimore. That could be three
losses right there for them at number eight.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
And I thought they'd be like at number ten or eleven.
But I could move them up. I could see that.
I just wanted to go ahead based on a little
bit on what they did last year. But they do
have some good pickups. I could see why you had
them not high. Who did you have next number seven?
People are gonna be really really pissed at me at this,
but just hear me out. Number seven is gonna be
the Miami Dolphins. And this is why number one offense
in the league, number one passing game in the league
(11:44):
last year, number six rushing offense in the league last year,
number ten defense, in the league last year. So all
of that in the top ten.
Speaker 5 (11:52):
If you really look at that season, people can write
the narrative they didn't beat good teams. They got hosed
in England against Kansas City. That's not a fumble in
return by Tyreek, because that play happens all the time,
and they call that an incomplete pass in the NFL.
That was not a fumble in a return. They got holes.
People forget that was fourteen nothing in the first quarter.
They held Kansas City scoreless the rest of the game.
That defense. Did you lose Van Geinkle, you lose Wilkins.
(12:14):
I get that, But I do like Porter, I Skimmy Poyter.
I do like Barrett John new Smith Brooks the linebacker,
Kendall Fuller, the corner. You get Chop Robinson out of
Penn State, you get a new defensive coordinator in there.
The offenses going to keep humming. They just have to
shut their narrative up if they'll keep saying you can't
beat good teams until you do. They won eleven of
(12:36):
their first fifteen games last year, and then the injury
bug killed killed the defense. It killed the defense. You had, uh,
you had Phillips blowers his achilles in Jersey. Yeah, tyreek
Hill missed, Tom Waddle missed five games last year, Moster
got hurt, a chain miss six game he was on
IR and also Jeff Wilson missed a lot of time
(12:59):
last year.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
They had a lot.
Speaker 5 (13:00):
Of pieces at the wrong time. Van Ginkle was out,
Baker was out.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
And you're playing the Kansas City game in Antarctica for
christ Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:07):
Well, people had to get their fingers in total amputated
because it was so cold out there no excuses.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
You lost the game.
Speaker 4 (13:13):
That's WoT that weather.
Speaker 5 (13:16):
But I put that all in. People have to tell
the complete story on the Dolphins can't finish. You're right,
But they also were signing guys off the street to
rush the quarterback, which happens to be Pat Mahomes the
week of the Kansas City game. You can't come on.
You can't even put that in the movie. No one,
No one does that. But they needed roster spots. They
needed guys to just suit up to try to go
(13:36):
chase this guy down. Remember Pat Mahomes looked like Cam
Newton in that game. He was lowering his shoulder on
Eli Apple like it was nothing. At the inside the
five yard line, so that's why I have them there.
You can't and you can't deny have the number five.
So okay, yeah, I got him as seven at a
nine home. That could change too, number six. I love
this team, man, the Packers.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
I love that. I love this team.
Speaker 5 (13:58):
Jordan loves legit Pam now because if he blows up
this year, it's gonna cost you more down the line.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
Somebody's gonna hit sixty.
Speaker 5 (14:03):
Million because two quarterbacks are at fifty five, so someone's
gonna hit sixty soon.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
I much rather be like Love than Dak right.
Speaker 5 (14:11):
I much rather be a younger guy than the guy
that's already got a MAX deal before. I love Lafleur.
They have a young receiver. Course, somebody's gotta come out.
You wanted to be Christian Watson, but somebody's gotta make
themselves known.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
Xavier and mckinyate.
Speaker 5 (14:23):
Safety is a big, big pickup.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
Guys.
Speaker 5 (14:25):
You cannot unestimate what this guy does and what he
brings to the football field. Eleventh rank offense, fifteenth in rush.
They move on from Jones, older guy, You're gonna plug
in Dylan the big body, the big body bruiser from
Boston College.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
At the running back position. I just I like this team.
Speaker 5 (14:40):
This division's gonna be tough because I like Minnesota have
a bounce back, and we know Detroit's good. I don't
think Chicago's good as everybody else thinks they're going to be.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
So that's my six through ten.
Speaker 5 (14:48):
Give me the Browns at ten, Dallas at nine, Texans
at eight, Dolphins at six, and the Packers at se So,
Dolphins at seven, Packers at six.
Speaker 4 (14:56):
All right, we're gonna come back. We'll do the top five.
People want to know, who does VJ have in his
top five? Is that what you guys have out there?
We'll get to that if you want to get a
hold of us at Big Vanilla Fuddy, I'm instincing genius one.
That's coming up next right here on Fox Sports or Radio.
Speaker 2 (15:13):

All right, VJ Husky, Arnie Span You're in for the

As We're coming to you alive at the tirerech dot
Com studios. By the way, uh, coming up next segment Overrated,
Underrated j and Monsei. The only reason I'm promoting that
is because I wasn't sure it was coming up because
I texted you, going are you ready for Overrated?
Speaker 3 (16:20):
Underrated?
Speaker 4 (16:20):
You never text me back, so I have to ask
you this way. You just you just don't answer me.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
That's all got. I didn't see the text message come through.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
Man.
Speaker 5 (16:27):
I do something different every commercial break. I don't just
sit here. Sometimes I get up and I leave. I'll
go get a ginger rail, or I'll make some notes.
I'll look on the internet for some stats or something
or peep up at it. They got the Laker Summer
League game on replay.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
Yeah, I'm watching it.
Speaker 5 (16:41):
Yeah, and then the home run replay that's is that live?
Speaker 3 (16:45):
Oh yeah?
Speaker 5 (16:45):
See that's how checked out I am. There you go,
And I didn't do that. That's real talk. I didn't
do that on purpose. That's how checked out I am.
Speaker 8 (16:52):
Bro.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
I football, that's I Look.
Speaker 5 (16:54):
We got the Olympics and I'm gassed for but it's
football season. Bro.
Speaker 4 (16:59):
Let's get to your top five reel quick because I
know at the bottom of the hour, over and underrated.
So get to your top five. What do you have
at number five?
Speaker 5 (17:06):
I move out on this number five. I got the
Philadelphia Eagles. I think they have a bounce back year.
I think Sirianni knows how to act like an adult now.
Last year it took a lot of criticism. Should Hurts
was beat up all year long. He'll be in the
top three MVP race. Sakwan Barkley is the huge It's
the huge addition here and he is gonna run. I
can't wait to watch the Giants game when they go
(17:28):
back to New York to play that game.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
Yeah, sign me up, man, I haven't been numbered seven,
so we have him right around Okay.
Speaker 5 (17:33):
Yeah, got him at five, and they also have the
four last year the fourth the fourth most missed man
games thirty seven games missed the defensive backs, sixteen games
missed to linebackers. That won't happen again. Peoples would be
much better. Number eleven. I got the San Francis go
for I'm seen me number four.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
I'm sory.
Speaker 5 (17:52):
I'm looking at eleven and a half over and under.
Vegas hasn't had wins the San Francisco forty nine ers.
Some people may think that, yeah, some people may think
this is low, but I go through two times. In
the last thirty years in the NFL, guys, there has
only been two teams to ever go back to the
super Bowl after not making the Super Bowl after losing
the Super Bowl. That's the New England Patriots and the
Buffalo Bills. So I'm gonna go with history on this side.
(18:14):
They still have a lot of weapons, but it takes
a lot out of you to get all the way
there and get to the fourth quarter and get to
overtime and lose to Pat Mahomes.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
I just have to ask you, and he's gonna be
We're gonna be talking about him all year long. What
are you gonna get sick of hearing about brock Perdy?
Whether he's an elite quarterback. He's not an elite quarterback.
They should get an upgrade. I mean, what does this
guy have to do to get everybody's respect?
Speaker 3 (18:38):
You tell me, you know why.
Speaker 5 (18:39):
I'm it's not what to answer the first part of
your question. When am I gonna get sick of it?
Speaker 3 (18:43):
Never?
Speaker 5 (18:44):
Because I don't watch all those debate shows that they
have these conversations on. But I know what you mean,
But I just put the tape on. He's got I'm
not gonna blame a guy for having weapons. That's just
a dumb thing for me to do to people. I
don't care how good he is. He's got CMC, he's
got who wants some adebo, he's got kittled by the way.
His wife Claire is the star of Receiver on Netflix.
(19:04):
If you haven't watched it, fans, Arnie, you need to
go check that out. Fellas, get you one of those,
Get you a Claire. But he's not a top ten
quarterback though.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
I don't know, man, all I know, is he though? Yeah,
it doesn't matter. That's the thing.
Speaker 5 (19:16):
It doesn't matter Brandon Ayuk. That's something that's gonna be
worked out this year. Is Jenny's the guy to take
his place? Who knows when they get the contract? Defense
Stills have Warner Bosa, they still got Shanahan. They'll win,
they'll win a lot of games, but I just don't
know if they'll get back to the super Bowl. I
have him gone into camp here at four at number
three over nunder eleven and a half wins out of
Vegas for the Baltimore Ravens. Adding Derek Henry changes it
(19:39):
changes everything.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
Arnie.
Speaker 5 (19:40):
You add that type of hoss back there, How would
you like to be the d N trying to figure
out on RPO whether Lamar's keeping it or you gotta
slam down inside to tackle, you know, a RoboCop running back.
And when guys get let go or leave a team
running backs, when they hit twenty nine to thirty thirty one,
they normally have one really good chip on my shoulder.
(20:01):
You don't think I can do it type year. Dereck
Henry still got about a year that left in and
reminds me of Willen Danny and Tomlinson got cut from
San Diego, goes to the Jets, almost runs four thousand
yards when people said he was done. Reggie Bush Martins, Yeah,
that Reggie Bush. Marcus Sallin goes to Kansas City, Reggie
Bush goes to the Dolphins, runs four thousand yards when
Reggie Bush was supposed to be done. So I think
(20:22):
that's gonna help them out there. Zay Flowers to me,
is the next Tyreek Hill. I said it last year.
Watched this kid out of Boston College continue to grow.
Lamar Jackson. It's Lamar Jackson, and they got a coach
by the neighborhood. That's a whole other defend. Yeah, exactly.
So at number two, I like the Detroit Lions here
had number three. Yeah, I Dan hutch Branch, Saint Brown,
(20:44):
Laporta golf and Montgomery at the running back. I mean
they have Dage had studs also to Jamison Williams, that
kid out of Alabama that started off slow at the injury,
didn't got into the gambling stuff.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
All that's clear.
Speaker 8 (20:56):
Now.
Speaker 5 (20:57):
You thought Tyreek and Waddle is a fast common they
watch him and Saint Brown this year and Laporter work
in the middle scenes, in the meeting, in the defense,
at the tight end, who can stretch the field and
get outside of the perimeter the hashmarks watch Golf Golf
can throw for five thousand yards this year. I love
this team. Gonna be a tough division because once again,
I think Green Bay is good. I think Minnesota has
a bounce back year, but I like them their first
(21:19):
place schedule. They have three back to back road games
this year, Dallas, Minnesota, Green Bay, Houston, Chicago, San Francisco.
That's either gonna doom their season or it's gonna flip
their season. The only team that's got three back to
back road games this year.
Speaker 3 (21:36):
That's what happens when when you win your division, your
schedule gets harder.
Speaker 5 (21:39):
No, and you're getting no fanos and number one the
easiest call to make Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
You know what I wrote next to her name.
Speaker 5 (21:47):
Self explanatory, Yes exactly. They're the new Patriots, Ladies and gentlemen.
I don't bet against them until someone shows me you
can beat them on a consistent basis. The Patriots didn't
win every year, but you knew every year they released.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Getting the ANFC Championship game.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
Patriots level is home.
Speaker 5 (22:04):
Absolutely. Yeah, No, No, Tom Brady lev not Yeah, because
he's got to get to ten. He's got to win seven.
Tom's got seven rings. He went to ten super Bowls.
But in this present time. Steve Hartman sat next to
me yesterday and I filled in on his show yesterday.
He goes, VJ, there's only one team that's got a
franchise quarterback. And I haven't heard anybody say that, but
(22:25):
it did. It stuck with me like I took that home.
I was sitting on the sofa drinking hennessy Ian barbecue
last night and it hit. I was like, wow, he said,
but it makes sense though, right.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
There, Josh Buffalo is he? Jalen Hurts Philadelphia?
Speaker 8 (22:38):
Is he?
Speaker 3 (22:39):
He's not?
Speaker 8 (22:40):
Is he?
Speaker 3 (22:43):
There? You go and there I think, well, I think
he's a franchise quarterback for them.
Speaker 5 (22:46):
But the point is you pause for a second and
you say, I think so if you go, is Pat
Mahomes the franchise quarterback?
Speaker 8 (22:52):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (22:52):
Slip Jacksonville gave Trevor Lawrence all that, but he was said,
he's our franchise quarterback.
Speaker 5 (22:56):
Or they're just depending on the potential being there. You
gotta pay your guy now, or you look like Jerry Jones,
and you wait to pay them and you end up
paying them more than you should, and then you still
gotta pay him again. It was smart for Jacksonville to
do that job. If you believe you have your guy.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
It's like dating.
Speaker 5 (23:14):
If you believe she's the girl, bro, go get the ring.
If you believe she's the woman that can mother your
children and be your support system, go get the ring.
Speaker 4 (23:25):
I guess Miami and Dallas are not getting the ring,
then right.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Hey, you gotta pay there Miami.
Speaker 5 (23:30):
I did a show a few weeks ago when Martin
where I said that the Dolphins are playing a very
dangerous game of chicken.
Speaker 4 (23:36):
I can't go and say they want to date other
people that when you date somebody else to know.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
You, you got your You gotta man, you gotta shorty
right there. She home, She not out.
Speaker 5 (23:44):
She go to brunch every now and then ballas Mumosa's
with her girlfriends. But she's she doesn't go to she
gonna go to Taco Tuesday happy Hour. She's not strolling
in at ten o'clock at night talking about she don't
owe you any xp nation. I'm an adult. I can
know she's there, man and when you got something to do,
she's there to back. You get the ring bro it's
not allowed them out there.
Speaker 3 (24:02):
The dolphin. You think, okay, you don't pay two? He leaves.
Now what no one can give me an answer, Arnie, Now, why.
Speaker 5 (24:08):
Oh you don't pay two? Okay, don't pay him? Fine,
and then he goes out and leaves the league and
passing again. If we go win another eleven or twelve games,
you're gonna say, well, he didn't win a playoff game.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
No, neither is Jathan Herbert. And he's got day five million.
Speaker 4 (24:18):
They think you like, he's a brock Pardy where it's
a system so they could place any top ten, top
fifteen quarterback in there and be able to get the safety.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
He's the only guy that's not allowed to have weapons.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
That is.
Speaker 5 (24:31):
That's why this that's why tool topic and I hated
that he's a dolphin because it always goes, oh, you're
just being no, why is he he's the only one
not allowed to have weapons. Tell me a quarterback that
ever did it by himself. I give people a year
go search through the history of football on any level.
Is show me a quarterback they did it by himself.
Mike Vick got to a national championship game, correct, But
(24:53):
once he got there, it was it was, it was.
It was clear you need a few more Jimmies than
Joe's because you're playing Bobby Bowden in Florida State and
Chris Winky and Peter Warck. You're playing those guys. Yeah,
you're dope, but you're not gonna get the dub.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
Time for over Under DJ, take it away, my friend,
Let's get over under all right, man, I like to
have fun.
Speaker 5 (25:20):
I always think it's we got these sports topics out
there and we make a big deal about them, and
then some of them kind of get pushed away by
the wayside. So Moncey Ryan also already, and I'll chime
in too, and you fans, you know, jumping on Twitter
man as Sticky Ja's a Fox Sports radio at.
Speaker 3 (25:34):
Big Vanilla Funny. First one Overrated or Underrated.
Speaker 5 (25:38):
Story, Dak Prescott showed up somewhere in a walking boot
and said, well, it's just you know, for I'm getting
older now and I just have to, you know, keep
my body, and that first thing I thought was, hey,
I'm getting older now too. But I don't just decide
to put on a walking boots normally that it's kind
of associated with something just might not be right, MONCEI, I.
Speaker 3 (25:59):
Actually think was overrated. I really do.
Speaker 6 (26:03):
I hear what you're saying, but literally, Novak Djokovic a
month ago had knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus
and was playing in the Wimbledon final. Dak and Scott
was on vacation, and I think it was more like, yeah,
let's be you know, let's take care of your foot.
Speaker 5 (26:19):
Something happened.
Speaker 4 (26:20):
But I think it was an overrated story.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
All right, Ryan, where you at with this one?
Speaker 8 (26:24):
Man?
Speaker 3 (26:24):
I want your point on vacation. That's where I'm Scott, Okay.
Speaker 6 (26:28):
What you're a This isn't largely it's still it's it's
it's July.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
He's got time, he's on vacation. If it was that serious,
he shouldn't have been on vacation.
Speaker 8 (26:36):
Right. It feels like an overrated story because I think
people were hungry to talk cowboys in some sort of
manner and that's why it popped up. But I actually
will say underrated because I think it's odd that he's
just going on a fishing trip. You need a gigantic
walking boot for your foot on a fishing trip. Yeah,
he's old exactly, that's a that should be.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
He also has a deal coming up too. Yeah, yeah,
so I will. I will take the underrated big orange
baby out in Vermont with all that great mental serve.
Speaker 4 (27:06):
Talk to me, as Trump would say, I don't think
you just know what you said.
Speaker 3 (27:09):
I don't think I don't think you realized what you said.
For cry it out loud. You got you gotta be
all confused.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
It's another rated it's another rated story because he's walking
around with a boot. If I came in the work
in a full body cast, you go, oh my god,
what's wrong with you?
Speaker 5 (27:21):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (27:22):
Nothing?
Speaker 4 (27:22):
Just felt like, yeah, you know, I just felt like
putting on the full body cast today just in case
I wanted to get a little bit healthier. Yeah, it's
a big deal. You don't know what body cast and
boots and put your arm in a sling and and
stuff like that when there's nothing wrong with you. So
it's underrated, no doubt about that.
Speaker 5 (27:38):
Yeah, I had it underrated too. I think there's something
going on he's going into a contract year. There's money
on the table.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
It's a slip.
Speaker 5 (27:45):
We see freaky things. Remember Shack cut his hand at home.
He showed up to It Arena with his hand on,
baby like, what happened?
Speaker 8 (27:50):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (27:50):
I was playing with my kids, especially you know tom
Bro cut my hands like, dude, what like it's he
couldn't just nope, just felt like wrapping my hand. We
know we're not gonna go there. All right, cool, let's
move on man. Devonte Adams on Netflix Receiver has been
quoted as saying, I.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
Gotta get the bleep out of here. I'm gonna get killed.
Speaker 5 (28:05):
He was on record is saying he did sign off
on Jimmy Garoppolo getting benched. And then there was the
scene where they show him and Aaron Rodgers all lovey dovey,
and he looked him in the face and said, I
miss you and I love you.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
Brother. That does not seem like I'm happy here. I
might want to get out there.
Speaker 5 (28:22):
Then we see Damian Woodie get on the ESPN and
start to talk this possibility of the Raiders moving him
to the Jets. I'm on record as saying that he
will be traded by the trade deadline, because I think
they're gonna start one and four, maybe two and five,
something like that. He's not gonna play nice. They're gonna
ship him off.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
Monte. Is this an underrated or an overrated story?
Speaker 6 (28:45):
It's probably underrated just because when it's anything with Aaron Rodgers,
the focuses him and the Jets. But in Receiver, he
does also say that he liked Aidan O'Connell, so I
don't know if he wants if he is gonna leave.
I actually am very curious as to what happens. But
that's why I think it's underrated, because people aren't talking
(29:05):
about it, and this could this could be a big.
Speaker 3 (29:08):
Kind of just got brushed away right exactly.
Speaker 6 (29:12):
So that's why I think it's underrated, and I'm really
curious to see what happens before the trade deadline.
Speaker 3 (29:16):
Producer Big Ryan's awesome, me better. I agree with you, guys.
Speaker 8 (29:19):
I think it's underrated because I think this is going
to blossom into a pretty major storyline as we get
into the season. If Davante is still there and you've
got a team that could actually be doing well, very
clearly trying to make a pitch to it. A guy
who was on another team. He's obviously a star like
this is this is something I think it's gonna really
(29:39):
bubble up and become a pretty prominent storyline coming to
the season.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
The man driving a card and I yeah, it's underrated.
Speaker 4 (29:45):
And by the way, if if I'm the Raiders, I
bring Devontae Adams into the office, I go, hey, Davanta,
you know Tom Brady, don't show Tom this is Devonte.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
This is Tom.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
Tom is part owner of the team now, and I
would tell Tom. Tom would say him, Man, you're a
big baby. I gotta tell you. I haven't seen anybody
cry like you in a long time. That's why we're
shipping you out now. Are we gonna ship you out
because you're a big baby and you're crying. We're shipping
out because you probably don't know this. Your career is
done anyway. You're not a top you're not a big
time top five receiver. So we're gonna ship you out.
(30:17):
You're gonna be somebody else's problem, and we're gonna recoup
some draft picks. Good luck to you though in New York.
I wish you the best of luck. Send this a
postcard when you get there.
Speaker 5 (30:26):
I'm want you, guys that think it's a very underrated story,
I think it's gonna grow and the top it off,
the cherry on the top end, witness just be so
much like the bum ash Jets to just make this
move because Dan Rodgers they will win exactly. This would
just be so them. They're trying so desperately to bring
in all these pieces. I don't like a lot of
piece they added this year to thirty one year old
plus tackles, one that's been injured.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
Okay, if that's what you want to go with, this
is a good one. I love. The Buffalo Bills lost.
Speaker 5 (30:49):
Their two top receivers Big Game, Big Game Gabe Davis,
as Tony Romel used to call him.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
Also Diggs got traded.
Speaker 5 (30:57):
Ever since they got to that NFC Championship game in
a when they didn't get the ball back, it's been
going backwards as far as how far they go guys leaving.
They lose the defensive coordinator, they lose the offensive cordator,
table taste the Giants job. Leslie Sheppard says, you know what,
I'm gonna go relax and just take a year off.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
And it just looks like it's.
Speaker 5 (31:14):
Going the other way here, is this a big underrated
story or overrated story because I don't hear anybody talking
about Josh Allen losing these type of weapons. Let's spend
it around an already first on this one.
Speaker 4 (31:24):
It's underrated. They have no wide receivers. I mean, they're
really they're gonna be short handed. Who are they gonna
even throw the ball to? Like Valdez Scanning is like
they're second or third best receiver on the team out
I'm not kidding around.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
They've got some serious problems.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
By the way, it's already over Dolphins already have quenched
that division, So forget about the Bills.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
It's just not gonna happen this year. Producer Ryan, it's awesome.
Speaker 8 (31:45):
I will go overrated. Stefan Diggs fell off hard at
the in the second half of last season. You're really struggled,
and Gabe Davis can disappear at any given time. Keon
Coleman is a great young receiver that they brought in.
Curtis Samuel's an incredibly underrated receiver. So I actually think
that the Bills offense is going to be just fine.
So I will say over I actually like that opinion.
Brother good one Monse exactly what Ryan said.
Speaker 6 (32:06):
Yeah, yeah, I think it's overrated. And this it's just
because Stefan Diggs was non existent by the end of it,
so it's what is there to talk about.
Speaker 4 (32:15):
He wasn't there, you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (32:17):
But I find it interesting.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
Though that it's not being talked about because it is.
Speaker 6 (32:23):
Like a make or break for Josh Allen, So it's
you know, like aside from Louse, this is Yeah, So
that's why I that's what's interesting about the story. But
I do think it's overrated.
Speaker 4 (32:33):
Losing them vj Di, Jeb Moore over on their minds.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
I just got one more because Monty talked about The Bachelor,
So let me get this one the real quick.
Speaker 5 (32:39):
Cam Newton didn't get invited to Christian McCaffrey's wedding. Not
only did he talk about it, I felt like it
was really kind of in his feelings. My mom always
told me two things about a man in life. Never
go where you're not invited, and never stay where you're
not welcomed.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
Monce overrated, overrated.
Speaker 6 (32:58):
You only invite people to the wedding that you have
a relationship and friendship with. You haven't talked to him
in how many years overrated? Get over yourself, oh.
Speaker 8 (33:05):
Rot overrated. I'm planning a wedding. It is not easy
to come up with the roster of people that are coming.
I'm sure that you get McCaffrey and the colpos combined,
they probably know a good like eight thousand people.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
Yeah, at least so playing a wedding right now? Yeah, okay.
If I'm not on the list, that's your ass. I'll
tell you.
Speaker 4 (33:23):
Already talked. Is this you are rated? First of all,
don't ever pay for a wedding. It's the biggest waste
of money. I'd rather have the money instead of making
sure my friends get a free bar in some free
or derms.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
And by the way, two words for.
Speaker 4 (33:36):
You wedding crashers. All right, we're gonna come back. We'll
freaking shout the hour. We'll get to that. Thank you,
appreciate it, guys all that's coming up next right here
on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (33:57):
A right good, you think everybody is?
Speaker 4 (33:58):
We're coming you Alive from the IRAQ dot Com Studios.
VJ Husky Arnie Spaniard hit for the guys tonight. Veja
Ja hit for Jason Smith at his best friad Byke
Carbon right here around Fox Sports Radio. Uh, let me
just give a one quick update, Brownie James oh for
four from the field, which means he's four for thirty
(34:20):
total in Summer League. Oh for three from three point range.
That means he's oh for fifteen. Now I believe from
three point range. You still think he's gonna up on
the team when when the season starts or.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
Doesn't don't matter. This don't matter. It's not a talking
point no more. His dad's lebron.
Speaker 5 (34:39):
If it was my son he on the team, I
no matter what, may I be damn if I got
the power to get my son. So okay, fifteen to
twenty years from now, I'm you know, I'm in a
bigger position here Fox Sports Radio and my and Cameron
wants to come on, and I have the power. Now,
if I don't got the power, that's different. But if
I have the power, guess who's gonna be sitting in
(35:01):
when somebody takes vacation somewhere probably on my show. My
son Eddie Murphy just had his daughter in the new
Axle Foley Beverly Hills Cop.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
She's the woman. Yeah, she's the woman out of resting.
Why wouldn't now she's the police officer. No, you can't
be the cold star, sweetheart. You're not ready for that.
Speaker 5 (35:18):
I've been doing this for forty years, but I'm about
to put you in a film that I first started
shooting before you were boring, because I'm going to I'm
just gonna show up to the set. Hey, by the way,
cop number one, this is her?
Speaker 3 (35:30):
Oh, VJ, we had it. Yeah, I don't care who
you had.
Speaker 5 (35:32):
Just go ahead, a matter of fact, pay her, pay
her out of what, pay her out of my pay
that's fine. Pay a matter of fact, give her times
five whatever you're about to pay her, Give her times
five out of my twenty five million to show up,
because you're probably paying her five hundred dollars, right, give
her five times that and tell her this. She can
stick around and give her a pass.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
Don't make it right, though, VJ. That doesn't make it right.
Speaker 5 (35:49):
Whoever said it? Head listen, man, life a Sometimes life
ain't about right. Sometimes life ain't about right. Life is
about what you set up for your children, which you
set up for yourself, Like the saying I love. You
don't always get paid what you deserve. Sometimes you get
paid what you negotiate. Sometimes you get what you negotiate life.
You may not always because because guess what that deserves
a fifty to fifty word. Sometimes you don't get what
(36:11):
you deserve and it's not right. And sometimes you don't
get what you deserve because you were smart enough to
go negotiate something bigger and better.
Speaker 3 (36:18):
What's wrong with that?
Speaker 4 (36:19):
Nature Boy says, look out, sticking genius.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
I think he's telling me he's gonna replace you with
his son. So nah, nah na, we just have a
we just have a well, just have three. We'll just
have three heads on it.
Speaker 4 (36:32):
And Nature Boy does say, don't pay for a wedding
might be the best tip you've ever given on your show. Yeah,
that's the way I found out with my mother in
law paid for a wedding, And I'm like, oh, that's
a waste of money.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
I could have paid off house for.
Speaker 5 (36:43):
What at least your down payment for your house's bigger
than that.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
I could have bought off a house. There, I go
I go, you're insane.
Speaker 4 (36:52):
I go, we don't need all these bands, free booze
and this free food that charge people.
Speaker 3 (36:57):
What's wrong with you? Don't do that now I do.
Speaker 5 (37:00):
I played Devil's Advocate because I love weddings. I love weddings.
I love what I like to make a toe.
Speaker 3 (37:06):
Let me speak.
Speaker 5 (37:07):
I'm a stand up comedian for twenty years. I do
motivational speaking. I coach, I talk for a living. So
I'm gonna say some deep stuff and get some watery eyes.
I'm gonna make some people giggle. Your your eighty year
old's gonna think I'm so cute.
Speaker 3 (37:21):
Oh yeah, she's gonna love She's gonna love me. I
remember the family.
Speaker 6 (37:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (37:25):
And then you always finish it by looking at both
of them and saying something deep like just remember this.
Get rid of our eyes and knees. It's all about us.
An hour and you'll just exactly see what you just did,
See how you did that. The room goes all right, guys,
stop it, okay, I'm done. Drink up, drink up, all right,
and you point to the room and go, love you, buddy.
I love you, man, I love it.
Speaker 4 (37:47):
Two hours are in the Bucks word this show is
just flying on Ye invite me word halftime of the show.
You want to get in at Big Vanilla Funny. I'm
a stinking genius one. We're just getting going.
Speaker 3 (37:57):
Come back.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
Watch more football to get through here on Fox Sports
Radio
