Please give this part you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Greetings, Welcome in side hour three, Jason Smith's Show with
my best friend Mike Harmon, live from the Tirack dot
Com Studios. Tirec dot com. I'll help you get there
an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection,
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tirec dot Com is
the way tire buying should be. So a little bit

(00:51):
more in the conversation we just had a few minutes ago,
because this is just this is amazing. Alex Sar the
number two overall pick in the draft this year. Now
your guy, No, I told Steph Castle was my guy.
He's been having a great so far. I told you,
Steph Castle Castle, I don't understand the better better story
if it's your guest, Yes, but I did not tell

(01:12):
you about Alex har alexr is. Look, he's a defensive big, right,
But tonight, tonight he goes oh for fifteen from the
floor in Summer League. Now he did nine rebounds, few assists, blocks, everything, okay,
but oh for fifteen from the floor. And that's just

(01:33):
so insanely bad that I said a few minished ago,
when's the last time someone shot worse than that from
the floor in NBA him, I guarantee you it's so long,
I couldn't even tell you the answer, and I got
so man of you. My timeline going John Starks two
for seventeen. No, he made shots, Yes, I get it,
Yes I know, Game seven ninety four NBA Finals, Yes,

(01:54):
I remember, all you jerks. Anytime someone goes two or
one for anything, it's better than over. So you're looking
at the last time someone shot worse than oh for
fifteen from the floor in an NBA game, which means
oh for sixteen or worse. That's worse. If you go
one for thirty, you are shooting better, you know. Why?

(02:16):
Got to look at the shooting percentage? At least, hey,
that's higher than zero, is shot over that zero. So
it's got to be the last time someone was over
from the field in a game. And this is what
I've come up with so far. Okay, okay, come up
with so far. Now, Ricky helped out. He's doing stuff
in the other room. This is not in Ricky's job
description tonight. But you heard what we're talking about. Ricky

(02:38):
jumps in very nice. So he googled it. Well maybe,
but you know he came to with the answer. But
if he was able to, you know, answer, well, actually,
well here's the thing. Here's the thing. Okay, there's a
thing with the answer he gave me. But we figured
out the right player. We've had the right player. So
this is the answer that we come so far. It
could be worse the last time someone had what we

(02:59):
know so far. And that's what we know here at
Fox Sports Radio, oh for seventeen from the floor in
a nineteen ninety one NBA game. That's that's what we
have right now. We founded someone in a game worse
than Alex sar in a nineteen ninety one NBA game.
And it's a star player, star player who was oh

(03:23):
for seventeen from the floor. And your hint is this
for Frostburg for you and Harmon, your hint is this,
he was one of three members uh the Okay, on
the team he was on, there were three players. He
was one of them and they all had a nickname
for the three of them. So there's your hint. On

(03:44):
the team he played for. He was one of three
star players and they had an and they had a
nickname for these three guys on the team. This was
the Gosperg. I'll defer to you. Well, I'd say it
was the Mavericks, but that was way later than ninety one.
That was light That was that was yeah, that was
Kid and Jackson. Know. That was like going back in
terms of that was like ninety That was like ninety

(04:06):
six ninety seven. I think I know the answer. I'll
let harm and go, Okay, good, Well, it's got to
be one of the guys from run TMC. You're right,
one of the guys from run TMC. Now was it
Tim Hardaway, was it Mitch Richmond? Was it Chris mom
No way, it was Chris Chance. That's not Saint John's legend.
You'd be you'd be good when you talk about Chris
mook Man. That guy could shoot. But he also had

(04:27):
the greatest bobblehead giveaway ever. The flat top was so
true you could battance a beer on it, and Mitt
Richmond could shoot lights out. Sure to be hard Away.
Tim Hardaway could shoot too. It's gonna be hard The
answer is that night. Well, here's the thing. Ricky comes
in and he says, hey, I got the answer. I
got the answer. It's Penny Hardaway in ninety one. And

(04:48):
I go, Penny Harder, yeah for the Matt for the Warriors.
I go wait what he goes? Wait? Hang on, no,
Tim Hardaway Warriors, Now, I got right. Sorry, Tim Hardaway
had Warriors ninety one. Lord hellow without google, Penny Hardaway
played for the Warriors. He sure Penny Hardy he played
for the next two. It doesn't matter Tim Hardaway when

(05:09):
he get the elusive win in college basketball, Oh for
seventeen from the floor in a ninety one NBA game, rain,
Now for seventeen? What it ray? Here's what here? You know,
here's the thing. This is like, this is I come
down to in the NBA? Is that? And this is
why the NBA is there, why the NBA is great,
Because at some point, if you're Tim Hardaway in ninety one.

(05:32):
You go back thirty years for Tim Hardaway now or
you're Alex sar tonight right. At some point, don't you
think you know, tonight's not my night? Maybe maybe I
don't keep shooting. Maybe maybe I back off if I go,
oh for nine from the floor, okay, oh for ten? Okay,

(05:54):
but do I really want to get up there? Oh
for thirteen, oh for fourteen, oh for fifteen? They're right,
you know what it's it's not I understand it is
not my night. So maybe maybe I just kind of
dish off a little bit taking shots, because you know,
Alex are clearly hey rookie, you know, and you're a
big you can find a way to kick the ball

(06:14):
out if you're Tim Hardaway. Hey, you know what, Mitch,
you take this, I'm not feeling Hey, Chris Mellen, you
take this. I'm not feeling it tonight. At some point,
I got it, you know what. I know, shooters shooting, Yeah,
I get it. But dude, when you get to oh
for let oh for nine, oh for tell you know what,
it's just not falling for it, Dan not doing it.
Go back and listen to the play by doing it.
Man Hardaway, He's due, right, he's due. He's got to

(06:37):
keep shooting because he's due. I shoot. I guarantee the
play by player there's hardaway. Nope, that'd be the play
by play hardaway again, way off to make him feel better,
sar guy. Somebody went oh for fourteen in the NBA
Finals and in game seven, oh for fourteen. NBA Finals

(06:59):
Game seven. John Starks did not go oh for fourteen? Okay.
He also didn't play in nineteen seventy eight. Okay, oh,
seventy back in seventy eight, now seventy eight, seven seventy eight?
Was that way? Hey man? Seventy eight gives the Blazers
Bullets no Sonics, Sonics Sonics and the Bullets correct Sonics bullets.

(07:19):
One player went over fourteen oh for fourteen? Okay, game seven,
game Sonics won. That was a Sonics winning Okay. I'm
gonna give you well, Okay. I don't remember a lot
of players from the from the Bullets back then, so
I would either say wes Unseld or Jack Sikma. Well,

(07:41):
I'll give you a big hint. Okay. He wasn't on
the Bullets, oh on the Sonics. Uh oh? Boy? Was it?
Jack Sikma wasn't Sean Kemp wasn't come on, sewn, Sean
Kemp never shoots blanks. You know that. Come on? Yeh, hey,
where's shot? Come on, man, you know he's gonna lance.

(08:07):
Oh boy, was it Dennis Johnson? It was Oh yeah, Dj,
it's over. Yeah, and they won. They won that game,
set for fourteen and he was zero for fourteen in
Game seven of the NBA Finals. Can you imagine that interview? Dennis,
how do you feel? Yuh, well, a little bit of
glass half empty? Uh? Not not great, Bob. But we won.

(08:28):
But boy, I didn't make a shot. Bob. It might
be the first time you ever go in and when
you're thanking your teammates you really mean it. You're not
just trying to make microphone, You're really thanking. Yeah, it's
a miracle. They only lost by six. Yeah, they really
carried my ass. And hey, that was that was back
what I want to say Dennis Johnson was doing. That's
when they did the Mellow Yellow commercials where the where

(08:51):
the basketball players would chug Mellow Yellow was as fast
as they could. That was the commercial. Mellow Yellow makes
you feel so good, so fast, you just can't drink
it slow. It was like the precursor of Mountain Dew.
And then all these NBA I remember Dennis Johnson was
one of them, and they would just show them just
chugging the crap out of Mountain Dude during the commercial, like, God,

(09:11):
I want to drink soda that fan, but I want
to get a bottle of Dona. But that was John
Brown on this Receiver show and I'm on Ross Saint Brown.
He goes, yeah, this is what I always told him.
Going to the halftime, you drink yourself a Coca Cola
and then one more than I remember clearly. The twenty
ten Finals Lakers Celtics. Remember Ray Allen Game three? Oh

(09:31):
what was he? Oh? The greatest shooters ever? What did
he go over for? Oh? What do he go? Did
he get to double digits? Oh? Yeah, was over twelve?
Oh I was hate watching the whole thing. He was great.
Oh you were love watching that. You were love watching
ray Allen missing shots? You were loving watching he actually
didn't hit one and enjoying the shot? Was what was

(09:53):
he overall? For thirteen? Oh? For thirteen? Wow? Wow, Ray Allen?
Oh for thirteen? But still you were still going back
to Tim hardaway in ninety one, the last I mean
worse than OH for fifteen from the floor. Hey, but
you know what, for sorrow got to admit it's getting better.
It can't get much worse. No, I mean, you're not

(10:13):
gonna go for sixteen. The guy just held Browny James's beer. Man,
This is I mean, this is where if you get
to you know, this is what you do for Alex
Aar if he starts out the next game like oh
for six This is like when a guy at the
nearing the end of a Major League baseball season, his
record is like five and sixteen, five and seventeen. Hey,
you don't want him to get to twenty losses, right,
you know, I gotta lose twenty games nowhere, So you

(10:34):
take him out of games before he can give up
a name. This is where if you start oh for
five over, come out of the game. You're coming out
of the game. Come out of the game. But you
know this is this tomorrow for all the hot take nonsense,
all the sycophants in the James for the James family. Boy,
they're gonna wear this one all over the place. They're
gonna build a parade for what's a Oliver Lebron's gonna

(10:57):
just quote tweet the box score and put it up there.
But Bortz is gonna present him like one of those
big ass give me back my son. No, but like
you can already tell which rookie rankings, where's Bronni is
gonna be Bronni? Sorry, you know, look what he did,
Like he's working hard on the defensiven look at this
deflection that he had into the you hit it out

(11:19):
of bounds. Broni could have gone number two overall the draft.
Come on, man, he could have gone number two overall.
But that's the lunacy that comes tomorrow off of this performance.
I mean really, it's you guys want to I mean, here,
this guy has expectations. Let'd me look, I feel awful
for the kid. I'm look, he's eighteen coming into the NBA.
But you know the guy's a prominence. I mean, oh

(11:40):
for fit and you're a big right, That's that's the
thing you're talking about. These guys. Tim Hardaway is a shooter,
Ray Allen was a shooter. Deni Jollinson's a point guard. Regime.
These are all the guys. So yeah, they're gonna take
a big volume of shots from far away. I mean,
no matter what you say, you could be a great shooter.
The bet who has always has the best shooting percentage

(12:03):
the bigs because they shoot close to the rim right,
doesn't matter. Uh for a big to go oh for fifteen,
I mean he's a big, guess. He did take a
couple of threes. But you're a big, you get the ball.
You get the ball inside of five feet A lot
man a lot to not even get get up back
to the basket, and to not even get to the
free throw line to hit something like you canna he

(12:23):
scored one point, he's oho for two from the free
throw line. How well did they defend him that he
couldn't just turn and dunk on somebody? I mean one time,
one time out of those just just dunk at once,
just talking once. No, I watched Charles Smith against the balls.
It's not that easy to dunk rolls. No laying over,
No dunk the damn ball. If you hurt your finger

(12:44):
on the rim, too damn bad. There is one thing
he has going for him, He got the bonus higning
ball game. Nobody watched his game. Yeah, I don't know.
More people might have watched that game. Now you might
have tuned in. I don't know people were tuned into Fox.
There's no about it. I really am Look, I obviously
you know you want the kid to bounce back, and

(13:05):
I really hope he bounces back and and goes right
to his number two overall pick in the draft. That's
a real you know. But I feel bad. Yeah, but
I mean he's eighteen. I know he's an NBA player,
he's making a lot of money's making No, I get it,
But still, you know you hope better for it. Sure,
I mean, I'm I'm not saying what I know. I

(13:25):
just you know, I feel bad, But I mean, for fifteen,
it's just awful. It's how it's number two overall pick out.
But you're wearing it. Remember I'm wearing it. I'm wearing
it as my guy. No, not my guy, You're not
my guy. No, not my guys in the will say no, no,

(13:47):
I don't want to be in the Will. I don't
want to be in. I don't want to be in.
But coming up next, yest, we have another big story
out of the NBA, plus more on the Midsummer Classic.
And I could say him in Summer Classic as long
as I don't talk about the unifor that's coming up next.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. First I've ever heard I sized Baby
over Pop Life, but that's okay, Well, you know it's
kind of a remix. Hey, Just a little note All
Star Game. We'll get back in a couple of minutes,
big Fox Sports One doc just aired on Julio Rodriguez

(15:13):
on FS one came on after the All Star Game.
Pretty big thing, and some a couple of familiar voices
that you may know you listen to here every night
here on Fox Sports Radio featured on the documentary. So
if you get a chance to see it, you get
a chance. Up there was just on Fox Sports One.
Will be on again. You might hear some familiar voices
talking about Julio Rodriguez and the Marators. Maybe a little

(15:34):
bit we need they need a little more boost, a
little bit to talk about them a little more, a
little bit, little more shouting, a little bit, Hey, a
little bit louder. Now I would talk more about the Maritors.
But boy, look how good the Mets are, Oh my goodness,
have been the best team in baseball for the last
two months. Ma's Ma's, Matt's, Matt's, Matt's, ma's mat Yeah,
that's the thing. Going on vacation and coming back. Now
this is our first show back together here on our

(15:56):
show in about three weeks. I tell you, when I left,
the Mets were not in the playoffs, and now I
came back the Mets are in the playoffs. Look at this.
I mean, all you had to do is leave the country. Grims, Grims, Grims,
you left Grimace stage. Yeah, things happen, Yeah, buddy, I
don't tell him. The playoffs start knocked on the Oh

(16:19):
no no no, no, no no, but started to start this
week they started. Here's the thing, though, Justin, is that
for Jason, he's long held the mantra on the show.
I need one team to get me to the next Well,
a lot of teams have now reported to training camp Jets.
So the Mets are gonna take me even past the Jets. Now,
well you don't know that. Well, they'll get me through

(16:39):
the next two weeks at least. All go to hell, really,
but then it's who we trade. Then it's about the trade.
Then who were trading? Who are we getting? What are
we doing? So they'll get me to the to the
Jets now, but if something really bad happens with the Jets,
I need the Mets to extend that. Now we know
what's happening. Then you got to get me to the Knicks.
I mean, then then it's okay, Mets. You got to

(17:01):
get me to the Knick somehow, I don't know how
you're gonna do that, but you gotta give me to
the Knicks. What do you mean if he says, I'm
just because I'm just saying the Jets. Look, we're loaded
on paper, but you're not. It's paper. You like that
offensive line Mets better than last year? Yes? I do? Well? Yeah,
I mean I like my offensive line. As the real question,

(17:26):
do I like my offensive line? And just Travis Hunter
like his offensive line? Beat?

Speaker 2 (17:29):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (17:32):
Yeah, guy, I really hope with all your ni L
money you're buying those guys some really nice gifts because
otherwise you ain't seeing the ball on offense because your
quarterback is gonna be on his ass. Oh, I was
just kidding, dives. Hey, wait a minute, why are you
all in my room? Guys? I was just kidding. Okay,
all right, I'm sorry about that, but look job by him.

(17:54):
We'll we'll have more on on the night. Major League Baseball,
big stuff going on, A big story coming off of
last night. It's controversy as well, but we mentioned a
few minutes ago and now it's becoming a big headline,
probably because we were talking about it. Alex Sar number
two overall pick in the NBA Draft went oh for
fifteen from the floor tonight. Again, last time we had

(18:15):
seen someone shooting worse than this from the floig An
NBA game Tim Hardaway nineteen ninety one for the Warriors.
That's how bad it was. And look, Frostburg had a
fun deal talking about how hey taking the pressure off
of Bronny. Now as bad as Bronni's been in Summer League.
Now this is where it's at. Uh. I have a
much different view of Browny coming off of the last

(18:35):
few days, I think than a lot of people do,
because it's been and look, and I'm first got to
tell you is that I haven't gotten a chance to
see him yet other than highlights because I was away,
so I didn't get to see him. But he's not
been good, right, So I understand that. But what's been
the narrative has been haha, See told you Browny sucks,
told you brown he's no good? Look out bad. What

(18:57):
a horrible thing this is for the Lakers, all this stuff. No,
I see things completely differently now, not that you you
you see that all of a sudden there's positives, but
there's good that comes out of bed sometimes and much
like the w NBA when I said, listen, all this
crazy controversy and all this all this conversation over Caitlin

(19:20):
Clark and Angel Reese, it's going to calm down eventually,
all this race stuff and sex stuff and whatever it
is and and all that, it's going to calm down
and we're gonna get to basketball. And that's kind of
where we are. I told you what was gonna happen,
and it has now as we've talked. It's really the
hatred of Caitlin Clark and Angel rees now because you
gotta have to put her after what happened to her

(19:41):
this weekend. Hey, we're gonna put four players on you
so you don't get that double double streak. Like that's
how much they wanted to stop that. Well, if you're
gonna your game is going to be by any means necessary.
I'm gonna keep this stream going, even though you normally
dribble the ball well, and also you're someone who wants
to talk about I'm setting records. As I told you,
nobody has a bigger ego in all of sports than

(20:01):
Angel Reeves. She's got the biggest ego in the world.
But you still see players want to stop her not
bigger than Aaron Rodgers. Uh. Players wanted to stop her,
They want to stop Caitlyn Clark. It's more about the
old Guard is just upset that, oh we've been doing
our thing for a while, but now these twenty one
year old kids are coming in and the party. Yeah,

(20:24):
the standards for everybody else. But yeah, so that's really
what it is, right we we we found out that Okay,
it's not about what race Caitlin Clark is. It's not
about you know, being heterosexual, It's not about anything about
it's the old Guard is pissed and you're seeing it
manifest itself and how they treat players, and how Caitlyn
Clark is never going to make the Olympic team because
obviously show Reeve hates her, which is what we're asking.

(20:46):
The last got to take somebody else, especially after she
showed her up and was waving the crowd that was like,
come on, as they vanquished finished all my fans here,
all my fans here watching the play. So he told
you was gonna calm down, and now it's about bad
and now we've seen what it's about. It's going to
calm down for Bronnie James. Now especially because he's kind

(21:09):
of tamped things down by saying, Hey, whatever assignment the
Lakers want to give me after the summer, I'm fine
with right. And that's a huge weight off of the
shoulders of everybody, because suddenly, now the Lakers don't just
sit back and tiptoe around going boy, are we gonna
really feel like? Is lebron gonna quit on us? Is
he gonna be pissed? What about Clutch Sports, who's trying

(21:30):
to run the Lakers alongside us? What's it going to
be if we have to send Bronnie the summer league.
This was a great thing. And I'll tell you I've
been really impressed with him and how he's handled all
of this because he's more than an unwilling pawn and
all that. Let's stop saying, oh, Brian, Now Bronnie knows
what's going on. He's happy to be where he's at,
but he also gets it, Okay, this is the best

(21:50):
thing for my development, because that's what he said, as
long as I get to play a lot, what's the
best thing for my development? Now things are gonna calm
down because what's gonna happen. Yeah, we've seen the backlash
on Lebron James right, because it's all about it. But
look the Jalen Brown, the video of him at the
Summer League game last night being seen saying Bronni's not
a pro with Angel right, Yeah, saying Bronni's not a pro.

(22:12):
And then he had to backtrack from that take. Oh no, no,
I was probably I was probably Yeah, look all of this.
Bronny got the tap on the shoulder. You know it
came out. Look just like the WNBA when it came out,
all this hate, hate, hate hate. Now we see why
all the hate hate hate that's out on Bronnie. We're
understanding now. It's oh, it's really just all of the

(22:33):
Lebron backlash. That's all the Lebron backlash. And so now
that Bronni has played and he is now becoming his
own individual and he's taking charge of his career by saying, hey,
wherever you want to send me, that's fun. I get it.
If I get to play in the Summer League a
little bit, I get it. If I get a cup
of coffee up here with the Lakers, I get it. Sorry,

(22:54):
the Gilie that that takes the temperature down everywhere going Okay,
now now it's going to be a little bit easier
to maneuver things. So it's going to calm down for Bronnie, because,
all right, you've seen him play. Everybody's gotten their hate out.
We've seen going on. You've seen that. Okay, maybe he's
not quite ready. He still hasn't hit a three. He's
zero for fifteen from three points. But this is over
the course of three games, not one game like Alex Sar.

(23:16):
So you're seeing this. So the fact that that's where
we're at now, all right, the Lakers can see and
they see we can't play him, we can't put him
in a position where he's going to look bad. And
lebron knows it, and Bronny knows it, and Rich Paul
knows it. They all know he needs to be playing
more in the G League and not some No, I
just stay up here, and this is how I get better.

(23:37):
They understand that's not going to work, and it's not
going to work for him. Seeing him play has has
put everything into perspective. And like I said, now I've
been more impressed with him. And so instead of all,
look at this is so bad, it's so bad, I
see it differently as Okay, now the Lakers can move on.
They can play basketball. Bronni can do his thing as
much as he can, because he's always going to be

(23:59):
Lebron's kid. If Bronny can do his thing as much
as he can, the Lakers can be business as usual.
If Bronni gets to play in a couple of blowouts, great,
If he plays a lot in the G League, what
he does in the G League will be headlines as well.
So things are going to get back to what they
will calm down very quickly for the Lakers. Just like
WNBA Kate len Clark, we get where it's at. Same
thing with Bronnie. Hey, it's gonna calm down. Everything's gonna

(24:21):
be fun. I would say this, And Bronnie through all
of this has seemed to be perhaps the biggest adult
in the room in terms of his response to it all.
You know, I did a rant beginning of last week
coming off of vacation, talking about nepotism in the larger
scale of what it means. So I challenged everybody in
our business never to pick up a phone for a friend, relative,

(24:44):
friend of a friend, former coworker, whatever, again, because if
you're anti what Lebron did, in using his influence to
help his son's career, that of JJ Reddick and maybe
the invisible hand as the draft board opened up to
get connect, then you shouldn't do it in any of

(25:04):
your offices as well. No more friends, no more favors
for any of those folks. Full rant in the podcast
section wherever you find at Jason Smith, show May and
Mike Carver, won you ever get your podcast? But the
point with Brownie is, yeah, now you've got proof of concept.
It's a long way away and knew it was going
to be a project, right he shot what twenty six

(25:25):
twenty seven percent at USC truncated season coming off of
the hard issue, all of those things that it was
going to be a work in progress. Well, now it's
asked and answered. So what's next. You got to figure
out what happens with the roster because you did guarantee
him a contract and whatever else does you know? What
does that do in terms of the back end of
your roster, manipulation and whatever. That's all finding good and

(25:48):
how much he comes up and down through the course
of a season remains to be seen. But what we've
watched for a couple of games, there's always at least
one highlight of him being on skates defensively and then offensively.
It's well chronicled. The shooting acumen is not there. It's
not there, so long ways to go and maybe some

(26:11):
of it quiets down, but let's face it, lebron brings
so much oxygen into the room, or you could say
he sucks it out of it, whichever way you want,
but it's the straw that stirs the NBA drink. Now,
Bronny's gonna get a reprieve in that we're gonna start
talking more and more NFL here, and obviously the changing

(26:32):
landscape of college football. Who's coming next something we've talked
about forever in terms of Florida State and Clemson and
what they're gonna do. Well, that seems like it's gonna
come to fruition. You talk about the shuffling up and
the Big twelve talking a big game and everything else,
the new look Big ten, the new facility that they're
building on the lake there at Northwestern. I mean, all

(26:55):
of these things are just brilliant stores, studies and store
that'll take attention away. But for those who you know,
have that B block that's just not quite filled there's
always room for Lebron and Bronni and the latest check in.
So yeah, that that anger and vitriol will dissipate to
a degree, but the poison bends will be there lying

(27:18):
in wait for the next turn. Yeah. Look, there's always
going to be something and you never know. Hey if
Ruey Hotcha Morris starts out the season and he's zero
for seven, for eight, oh for nine, can you see
Lebron in a postgame press conference like looking the other way,
someone's saying, well, you know, we need to make more shots,
and you know, we got a couple of guys in
the G League that maybe can help us out here
a little bit. Like I can see him doing that,

(27:39):
just if he startling saying that. You know, I'm more consistent.
I could say, hey, we got some guys the G
League that might be able to help us out a
little bit, and will they bring it? Will he be
the fifteenth guy on the team. So I'm like sure.
But but now that we've seen and everybody knows that,
you can't just put him out there because it's not
good for him, even because I'll I guarantee you Braun

(28:00):
is someone who I guarantee you he thought, yeah, just wait,
when my kid gets out there, he's gonna prove everybody wrong.
And now he sees, oh, okay, he's not ready. I
mean because you can't look at you can't look at
it and say from what are is? So even he knows,
all right, that's where that's where it's at. Right. No,
as much as you'd like to take every positive approach
to it, and you know, put your blinders on and say,

(28:22):
you know that's my kid, or or for those that
stand one hundred percent no matter what he does, that
it's got to be this way. Look, I'm all for you.
You got influence to draft him, have at it. It's
a fifty to fifth pick. Expectations are low, right, not
a lot of guys coming from that slot that becomes superstars.

(28:43):
Not saying it doesn't exist, because we've certainly seen the
exhaustive lists from folks that want to say, well, this
guy was undrafted, this guy came from here. I get
it that so many others that didn't and flailed and
failed and fizzled out quickly. Sometimes you keep the peace.
The mom pop business cuts both ways when it comes

(29:03):
to the way Genie Boss and company handle things and
and it's different if he came out and played really good. Look,
we've seen guys play great in the Summer League and
then well you're not ready in the fall. So that
tells you how unready Bronnie James is. Because we see
guys from the Summer League and look like all stars,
and then they get to the regular season, it's oh, wow,
you really need to be in the G League yourself.

(29:24):
So if he was great in the G League, there
would still be questions going can he transfer this? But
even that's where like, hey, how could you not have
him playing some kind of minutes because look how well
he's played in the G League. He scores, you know,
don't connect what we have twenty seven and four so
far he's averaging like, hey, he's a guy, all right.
Well maybe if he was putting those numbers up, I
could see the pressure from lebron and Rich Paul to say, hey,

(29:46):
maybe Bronny's ready for some kind of role. But you
can even everybody can see her. Okay, we can't fool
anybody anymore. I will tell you this. Connect in that
first Summer League game should have been sending flowers and
candy to Annie James because his performance got no run,
which was terrible because of what Brownie did, so you know,

(30:07):
you get a little bit of cover cover as we
then his next game was much much better. But having
watched a bunch of g League of the Summer now
I'm I'm wow, Mike's watching, Mike's watching. No, he's watching
Gili the movie with Chili, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez. Yeah. Sorry, sorry,
I did the exact before. Probably, No, I don't know
you've seen Chili. It's not. All I can say is

(30:29):
My point was with the Summer League, there's a lot
of bad bads. One where Jal dumps's ass. Uh no,
that's real life. Sorry, no, that's really no. Listen, you
want to you want to know something that is better
than Ji Lee the American League uniforms. Wow, that's up back. Yeah,
there you go. Alex saw a stat line from the
Oh I don't know, man, that's over fifteen right now,

(30:55):
guys who all is updates are much better than O
for fifteen. It's Kevin Wall. Well, that's that's what tread
right there. Oh, fifth better than fifteen. I'm saying like
eight for fifteen, Yeah, seven fifteen. Basketball's terms that's that's
pretty good. So although in baseball terms it's even better. Yeah,
it's even better. You at least want to hit a
third and that's exactly what we got from Jaron Durant

(31:19):
hitting a two run home run to break a three
to three tie in the All Star Game to give
the American League a five to three victory, and Jason
your boy Pete a Lonzo in that ninth inning a
huge whiff as the National League tried to come back
into it, but they ended up falling by to show
hal Tani responsible for all Kevin White, I'm sorry. Do
the Mets lose a game in the standings? Do we
decided struck out? I mean, I guess you could take

(31:41):
whatever victory you can do. We do it. Something happened?
Can we not make the playoffs now because oh no,
it doesn't count? Oh okay, sorry, Hey, I guess if
Grimace can keep you on your playoff run, you could
take that and strive. If they could have put Grimace
up in the ninth inning, that would have tied the
game off. I'm just saying they might have been out
there with no one ready. Jenkins, you let Grimmace bat

(32:02):
anywhere he wants to. Okay, you like Grimace betting where
he wants to. I'm batting first and last, I'm betting
second and third. I'll tell you what. I'm the point guard,
and I'm the other guard, and I'm the center, and
I'm the two forwards. So's he like what Reggie Jackson
said in which he said that whenever out of the play
there's a runner in scoring position. Yeah, oh yeah, no,
that's one hundred percent. That's Grimace. Yeah, all right. Well,

(32:22):
the American League did win five to three against the
National League. Paul Schemes, though, did get the start for
the NL and set the side down in order in
that first inning. Jaron Duran, who hit that go ahead
home run, named the All Star Game and VP NFL News.
The Broncos in center or excuse me, guard Quinn Miners

(32:42):
have agreed on a four year, eighty million dollar contract extension.
Forty five million of that is guarantee. Caleb Williams and
the Chicago Bears agreeing on his rookie contract four years
fully guaranteed that thirty nine million with a fifth year
team option. DeVante Adams. There's been speculation on whether he'll
get traded and maybe head out to New York and

(33:02):
rejoin Aaron Rodgers, but his agents are saying that the
trade chalk rumors are baseless in unfounded speculation. There have
been no trade talks with the Raiders, at least that's
according to Adam's agents and Brandon Ayuk demanding a trade
from the forty nine Ers, but ESPN is saying that
although teams have gone to San Francisco or acquired with San
Francisco to see about Ayuk's availability, forty nine Ers don't

(33:27):
intend to trade him right now, so we'll see how
that continues to develop. We actually got some news in
just a few minutes ago regarding the WNBA as they
signed a massive media rights deal and I just had it, oh,
two point two billion over eleven years. That's according to
the Athletic two point two billion dollars for the WNBA

(33:49):
over the next eleven years. And it's well the same
TV partners as the NBA has had agreed to, so NBC, Disney,
Amazon the main three partners, and they said that there
could be even more money because they have the ability
to carve out a couple more packages on top of that,
so a massive revenue increase for the w NBA two
point two billion dollar media rights deal over the next

(34:11):
eleven years. Back to you guys, how great would that
be if they get inside the NBA Barkley's doing WNBA
games all that would be fantastic. Uh yeah, so I
think does that finally gonna get players saying, oh, hey,
thanks Caitlin, Thanks Kaitlin. Well, I will tell you this. Thanks,
Thank you. Kaints in Chicago. Prayers up to all those

(34:34):
folks that were affected by the rash of big time weather,
tornadoes and all that stuff. Sky season ticket holders that
were court sided. Their court side seats are going from
eight thousand this year to nineteen thousand, four hundred dollars
next year. Yeah, money flowing. Sure, sure, Thank the rookies.
I'm sorry, thank the rookies. I mean, seriously, think about

(34:56):
this for a second. Right, we'll get into this more.
Two point two billion dollars over the next eleven years. Right,
that's two hunred million dollars a season. You know what
the league is currently making another curly making sixty million
dollars a season. I was gonna go even lower than
That's it. That's that's like a that's like a near
three hundred percent increase right a lot a lot of websites.

(35:17):
You're talking about this right now. So yeah, congratulations, Kate,
thank you, Caitlin, thank you, Angel, thank you, rookie class.
What they say. Th hundred thousand people have shown up
to see Caitlin Clark Yay, thank you Kaitlyn right now,
Thank you, Caitlin, appreciate it. Thank you very much, Caitlin.
Oh yeah, Kaitlina, thank you. That they should be saying
thank you. Coming up next, will forty nine ers be
saying thank you after they trade? Brandon Ayuk superstar wants

(35:40):
the deal? Is he gonna get it? That's next? Fox.

Speaker 1 (35:50):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon Live from the Tirack dot Com studios.
I love more on that big breaking basketball story coming
up in a few minutes. But hey, nothing like a
nice big time and fl star demanding a trade to
get you going here middle part of July. But that's
what we got today. Did Devanta Adams finally say out loud? Dude,

(36:14):
the media is just trying to make that happen. I'm
going to allow them to make that happen. Where's Where's
Garrett Wilson? Just keep making that stop. Just keep trying
to make that happen. Thank you Boomersiasin, Thank you dan Orlowski.
Keep pushing that. DeVante Adams think coming. Did he finally
tell the Jets to beat it? Stop? Dude, when we're
in the super Bowl. Never mind. So Brandon Ayuk has

(36:35):
officially requested a trade from the forty nine ers, and
we talked about this two months ago. He's going to
get traded. He's going to get dealt because number one,
he's doing what stars do? You have to make it
combative and adversarial. I don't like that that's a strategy,
but this is the only way that started. The people
can force trades now because teams just ignore you. But

(36:56):
for the last couple of months, he has pushed. He
has pushed, he he's made it combative, he's made it adversarial,
whether it's postings on social media. Now I'm officially requesting
a trade. The Niners are gonna have no choice but
to trade him. And not only that, the Niners this
was part of their plan all along, Right, they drafted
receiver in the first round. You don't draft receiver in

(37:17):
the first round unless you're thinking he's going to play.
Right now, did they think that probably, Hey, are we
gonna pay brand and Ayuk? No, we're not, right, because
they got money in a lot of different places, have
to pay brock Perty at some point. They're not gonna
pay brand and Ayuk. He wants to get paid. Were
the Niners probably hoping, hey, maybe we get one year
out of Ayuk and Debo and Piersoll Okay? I could

(37:41):
see them thinking, yeah, maybe, but they know, hey, we're
most likely going to have to trade and we're okay
with that because we need guys that can beat Man coverage,
because that's one thing we don't have. We need guys
can beat man coverage. What's Pierce all the guy that
can beat man coverage? Right, That's what it is. So
they knew that this was going to be an endgame.
They're gonna be moving on from Brandon Auk. They put
out the same in today saying, oh, we're not gonna
trade him. Of course, that's how you do it, because

(38:03):
they want you to come and get him and give
a big offer. Is it gonna be a little bit sure?
Are they gonna do him any favors and trade him
right away? No, They'll let him sit throughout camp until
it's a point where teams say you're trading him to
us or we're moving on okay, and they'll trade him
right before the season starts, which puts Ayuk in the
very difficult spot to succeed. But other teams are gonna say,

(38:23):
we'll deal with that because we're gonna have him long
term and keep him. He's a star player. They're not
gonna do him any favors, but they will trade him
before the season starts. He has played his last down
as a forty nine. Now, if I'm John Lynch, I'm
going the other way, and I'm saying, I know you
really like the Brandon Ayuk model that we have here
as part of our forty nine ersh contingent. But let

(38:44):
me tell you show you over here this guy Deebo Samuel.
You know you had some problems in the run game.
Let me show you some tape of how he helped
solve some of those issues for us in the past,
and look at the explosiveness return man. You can throw
him out there if you need to. And he's a
mean he can do it all. Don't you want a
little Debo Samuel in your life? And that's what you do.

(39:06):
And then you find the money to go play Brandon
Ayuk and take care of him because they've had guys
do this before, they've had no Wait a minute, I
told you, make that phone call again, Brandon Ayuk, and
you're coming back with Demo Samuel. Who's watched up. He's
Percy Harvan at the end. What the hell is wrong
with you? I don't know what happened. I made the
phone guy, I don't know, and I see that to

(39:27):
talk and he showed me some highlights and I got mesmerized.
What do you want? You didn't send in any paper.
We're like, no, the paperwork's all sent in. The deal
is done. The league hasn't It's all done. It's all done.
We got this guy. We got to figure out how
to implement him. But we wanted at until we go,
I said, Brandon Ayuk. I started thinking about Demo, that

(39:50):
that actor and then that character. You're like Jill and
holland far from Home. I said, everyone fire all of them. Yeah,
he's gonna get dealt the name Stars. Here's the thing Stars.
They'll they'll hold them out until they absolutely can't. But

(40:12):
then it's like, we know, we got to get something
for him, or we're just gonna really hurt his value
too much because all all I us gonna say is
I'm not playing And and it gets to a point
where teams know, Okay, he's never gonna play for us again.
Let's move on, let's trade him, let's fix this, and
they'll do it. They'll screw him, it'll be at the
end of camp, but they'll trade him. I gotta say,
the awkwardness and pathetic nature of the communication via social

(40:35):
media agency needs some work. Man Exit out, bout of Fresca,
Exit swelling down The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon coming up next. Usually we talk about
lots of millions of dollars when guys signed big deals.
How about a billion, multi billion dollar story we have
coming up next Fox
