From a Chargers Star.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
We'll talk a little bit Jim Harball, what he sees
about the quarterback derby's going on in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Now, is Nick Sirianni really coaching for his job in Philadelphia.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
But another big day at the Olympics and the game
of the day. Probably woke up early and watch United
States beat Nigeria women's basketball eighty eight seventy four in
a game that was not even that close. Right, The
United States won by fourteen. They had a twenty eight
point lead.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Going into the fourth quarter. This was over pretty quickly. Yeah,
but it got down to thirteen in the fourth. It did.
It did again. They gave you some drama. Yeah, no,
you were right there.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
If you are into betting the US women's team and
blowing everybody out in France, this was This is a
tough one for you. But look, before we get to
the real great hot take out of this is that
United States wins and it's no surprise and it's still driven.
As we said from the beginning, They're not going to
lose because Asia Wilson and Brianna Stewart are the two

(02:04):
best players in the world right now and there's nobody
that can hold them back. Today Wilson was twenty and
eleven and three assists and Brianna Stuart was thirteen and
five and three and two and didn't have to play
a lot their minutes were will be held down because
they were up so big. That's why they're winning, right,
That's why they're winning. And they're masking the fact that wow,

(02:26):
as Cheryl Reeve and and and the women's team really
struggling with guard play, they are saying, I mean, it's
it's all because all they're saying is all you know,
luckily we're winning, or people would be just saying, really,
you didn't take Caitlin Clark, you really didn't because the
guard play is ridiculous. They played seven guards today, seven right,
and you got a good game out of Jackie Young. Finally, right,

(02:48):
you had. This is your best game out of a
guard you got you had. Kelsey Blum was a pretty
good spark plug off the bench. She has played well
in spurts. She's not scoring a lot, but defensively when.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
They need her, she's there.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
But overall, the guard play has been well below par
for a team that's the best in the world.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Danna Tarrossi went from start for some reason.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Diana Tarossi was starting to beget Really, Diana Tarossi is
starting now, she's coming off the bench, only playing a
few minutes. The guard play is not good. It is subpar.
They are getting outplayed by other teams. Guards, right, you
have the starting guards fro Nigeria, go for thirty five
between the two of them today and shoot incredibly Well, yes,
there are only a certain number of points out there,
but the reliance on Stewart and Wilson when you can't

(03:30):
get anything out of Chelsea Gray or Sabria IINESQW or
you know, Lloyd had a big game the other night,
but again now back down to like three points playing
nine minutes. This is not how it was supposed to go.
And all of the hey, hey, hey, at least it's
it's what it's masking. All the winning is masking the
wow ah boy, we really should have had Caitlin Clark
because I'm telling you, by the middle of this tournament

(03:52):
she would have been starting if she was there. She
was only playing a few minutes, whatever it was. Because
the guard play is just not there. There's nobody that
can break down defense is no one that can do
They all thought we were all set, we got our team,
we got our players, and no you don't. But because
of Asia Wilson and Brianna Stewart, there's not gonna be
a problem. We're gonna roll with the gold medal. We're
gonna win, and it's gonna be what do you want?

Speaker 2 (04:12):
We won?

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Right, same thing we talked about with Steve Kerr, and
I guess exactly what do you want?

Speaker 2 (04:18):
We want? What do you want? We want?

Speaker 1 (04:19):
And the question then's gonna be, Okay, did you really
could you really not have brought Kaitlyn Clark? I mean
you're playing seven guards right now, you're playing seven You
couldn't us Kaitlyn Clark.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
For fifteen minutes.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
I think you'd use her starting and she should play
like twenty five minutes, but you couldn't use her at all.
Couldn't get more people watch, couldn't get more? No, no, no, no,
we're no, we're so petty and petulant and jealous. We
don't need it. If you're playing seven guards, you could
have played Caitlin Clark. Now that's gonna be that's gonna
be the only question after. But in the end they're
gonna sit back and go, we won the gold medal?

Speaker 2 (04:47):
What do you want? Which, again to be fish, it's
just what we said.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
About Steve Kerr and the men yell at me if
we lose, but if we win, What are you yelling
at me for?

Speaker 2 (04:55):
So? I will.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
I will give the team USA that part of it,
even though they this decision ridiculously. I'll give them that
part because if they win, everything is fine. And what
else do you want from them?

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Yeah? I mean we could talk about it from a
cohesion standpoint and history and all of that in terms
of the Olympians that have been chosen or part of
the team, and we could say, well, we wanted our
instant gratification of Caitlin Clark on the US women's team,
and we could we could make our arguments, you know,
from a playing perspective of why that should have been

(05:28):
the case. Look at the assist totals, all of those things,
the fact that you have to play seven guards. Those
are all good, those are all good data points. But yeah,
it's the reeve comes back. It's like, we're beating the
hell out of these teams. What do you want from me?
All Right? It doesn't it's not it's not always gonna
be pretty right. What do we gonna say? Just win, baby?
You know they don't do a lot of that with

(05:49):
the Las Vegas Raiders. But it goes back to the
al Davis years when they did just win. Doesn't have
to be pretty. Winning ugly was a big thing in
eighty three for the whites side until they ran into
the Orioles in the playoffs and that starting rotation and
a young cal Ripken Junior and Eddie Murray, you know,
with with with the big mutton chops and everything. I mean,

(06:11):
it was all great. But as long as you're winning
and they're still winning convincingly, and that's the that's the
that's the hard part, right, It's it's not hey, they're
sweated out Like on the men's side in those five exhibitions, Yeah,
you had some sweat time. Now, did any of those
games really quote unquote count no? But one point victories?
Narrow victories? You know, the South Sudanese game was one

(06:35):
of those. Huh how about that? So you start questioning rotations,
and let's face it, everybody trying to stir the pot
on both sides to get either Reeve to say something
or for Jason Tatum, Joel Embiide or Steve Kerr to
say something. Right, I mean, the guy that's been treated
with kid gloves and it goes back to the way
that he gets treated in the NBA is Steph Curry.

(06:58):
He's not been good. But immediately he's like, oh, he's
not getting all the touches and shots I will see. Yeah, yeah,
that's funny. That's funny, Steve. You're gonna sit me right exactly.
You gotta see me in three weeks, Steve, give me
the I'm going out there and I'm gonna get my shots.
But all of those things to say, you know, we
were trying to go through and say, hey, there's gotta
be problems, and these are all things, and and yeah,

(07:20):
we're we're salty that we didn't get Caitlyn Clark and
maybe even Angel Reese right, an extra personality out there.
But now here's the throwing through.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Here's the best part of this right now, well related
but unrelated. Here's a hot take that is just and
I and I say it because I know there's a
bit of this going on right now. How much who
is living their best life right now? Not not not
not playing sports? Who was living their best life? And Clark,

(07:50):
Caitlyn Clark, right, katelo Age, Well, Angel Reese is in
Paris for the Olympics, right, but that she's there.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
She's been doing a bunch of stuff. Right she's hanging
out with their Sky teammates. They had to be.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Oh no, no, she's been there. But what's Caitlyn Clark
been doing? And what have we been very visible, made
sure that we see. Hey, here I am at the beach.
I still can't get a ten, no matter how much
I'm on the water. She's on water floats. And here
she is with her friends and laughing at the camera.
She goes to a country concert and gets to go

(08:22):
on stage and do a song. Now she's at the
Indiana State Fair and opening up a basketball court, and
she's signing autographs for kids, and she's appearing at the
zoo with all these the Indiana State Fair, with all
these different animals. She is living her best life right now.
And this is a big ghost. Screw yourself to the
Olympic team, because if you know when we saw Okay,

(08:45):
Caitlyn Clark, boy, she's been all basketball for the lad
I mean to go from I'm gonna lead my team
to the final four of the championship game. Then forty
eight hours later, I'm playing my first game from the
Indiana Fever. And we're playing every thirty six hours because
we gotta get the games in because we've got to
break for the Olympics. She had that quote, Hey, I
can't wait to not pick up a basketball for a while.

(09:07):
There's a month in between games the WNBA. I thought,
we're not gonna see Caitlin Clark. She's gonna go back
and spend time with her boyfriend or family whatever. No, no, no,
She's making the rounds. Hey, I'm at the beach, I'm
at a concert, I'm at the State Fair, and we
see this all we know this. She is living her
best life and saying I.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Don't need you. You want to, you wanna.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Hey, you guys are great, but look I'm making just
as much headlines back here as you guys are over there.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Right.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
When I go someplace, people care where I go, right
they do. No one cares where Diana Tarassi goes. No
one cares where Chelsea Gray goes. They care where I go.
This is a little bit of a screw yourself, go
screw yourself.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
You didn't pick me. I'm going out and having fun.
And the thing is she doesn't have to do much.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
She's such a big, built in superstar that wherever she goes,
the camera's gonna find her right. Something gets posted on
social media. Everybody knows every day you go online. Caitlyn
Clark at the Indiana State Fair. Katelyn Clark on stage
of this concert. Katelyn Clark is here. Look at Kaylyn
Clark here. This is all you're getting. She transcends the
rest and this is a big Hey, this is my
best life right now. I would love to be there

(10:12):
with you, and I really should be there, but you
know what, I look at me right here.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
I'm great.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
I'll see you guys when you get back, because, hey,
you didn't pick me, and this is not affecting me
at all. I'm still out having so much fun and
I'll see all of you when you get back for
the second half of the WNBA season. You show me
your gold medal and I'll show you a triple double.
I am ready for when you guys get back. I'm
getting rest, but I'm out having fun and doing what
I want. I know she's living her best life, making

(10:39):
sure that everybody knows that she's living her best life.
I mean, I do appreciate the new Nike ad for
Asia Wilson quote, You've had the privilege of losing to
the champion so I mean that's cool. I mean you've
got that going for you. Point Yeah, for Caitlin Clark,
remember she was in the grocery store. Did she look
thrilled to have a photo taken with that lady? No?

Speaker 2 (10:59):
All she want to win damn peanut butter. But you
do the job, getting extra workouts in with the fever teammate,
getting a little bit of downtime in between a bunch
of very public appearances, and opportunity to show well, the
missed opportunity, as we talked about even before the Olympics started, right,
go back to where are you losing the women's national

(11:22):
team to Ladecki and Biles and everything else that's popped
up along the way, Right, lots of day by day,
big time story headlines that have trumped what they've been
able to do because they for the most part, it's
it's been an easy romp, and you're celebrating greatness, right,
multiple MVPs and all of that, and going for another

(11:44):
gold medal, and it's kind of muted on the grand
stage with all of the other events rolling on. And
then you add the you know, random pole vaulter and stuff,
and you lose news days just all around, right, man,
Look everybody lost out to the guy from Herky And
then there was a photo of him getting on a
plane today. It's like, we don't need any air marshalls

(12:05):
on this plane, you know, all those kind of things
that you lose your space on the internal.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
He's like a real life action star, that guy, Like, hey,
Liam Neeson, you're.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
Seventy five years old, but I'm ready to do these
movies now. I'm ready to do them now. But you
saw there was a picture of him right from the competition,
and then a picture of him with his cat, and like,
we get four movies if something happens to that cat,
and a TV show or two. So all of that
to say, you know, you had this grand opportunity to
push the brand of the US women's national team. And

(12:37):
again they're gonna win the gold and they're a huge brand,
but you know, in terms of momentum of what you
built from the start of the w NBA season, the
w it's a bit of a lost opportunity. So it's
good to see both, you know, Clark and Reese living
it up and having fun and can't wait till they
get all get back on the court, right and they've

(12:59):
still been going through their workouts and in theory, you know,
more cohesion with their respective teams to try to make
a playoff push and in the end they kind of
fall into a win because well both of them were
able to do.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
That, telling you, man, she's out there living her best life,
and they okay, yeah, okay, that's fine.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
You know, I mean, I don't need you, but boy,
you could really use me.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
But I'm okay. I'm at the state fair right now
in Indiana. I'm all good manging. I'm with coachs. Yeah,
I'm judging. Oh, here's a big prize pig here. Okay,
this is the biggest pig I've ever seen. Okay, here
we go. All right, you want it now? Not my
best life out, see you guys. See you guys in
a couple of weeks. When you get back, I'll see
you guys. Then exit. How about a Fresca exit Swollen Dome.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon And I don't know if this is
a compliment or a warning for Alex Teischer.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
I don't know, because you know, my friends used to always.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
Say to me, oh, I know when ty shirt's not working,
because I don't hear, you know, flock of seagulls. I
don't hear Stevie Nicks, I don't, and I don't hear
Running Up that Hill, and I don't hear Tears for
Fears all the time.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
I know when Tyser's not working, I get I get
messages on the Instagram and Facebook accounts that get kind
of mad about it. I'm miche Alex. But what what
ninety I get?

Speaker 1 (15:22):
I get messages on the Instagram, I get it on
the I go on to.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
Choose my words very carefully.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
I don't on Google machine and I type in a
search to find out something and the name comes up, uh.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
And I can't even read some of the messages that
come in on the Facebook.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
But now people say to me, I can't tell when
he's working, because now it's like he's like grow everybody
else that's.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
Come into work that fills in. He's like his minions now.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
Like they're all playing Tears for Fears, they're playing Running
up that Hill. They play his music now, and they go,
I can't tell when he's working and when he's not.
So there you go, Tyshirt, I think you might have
wind up playing yourself, because you mean, you've trained everybody
so well. Now no one can tell whether you're actually
working or if you're off.

Speaker 4 (16:05):
Or if I set the bar so high, Jason, that
they can only match me if they wish to be here.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
I think that's a little too deep. Okay, yeah, it's
a little.

Speaker 5 (16:15):
I definitely messed up that.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
That's a little You can only match me if five
mere tight shirt, you're fired.

Speaker 4 (16:21):
There is no try, Jason, there's only due Alex.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
We feel we have a couple of people that could
do your job for a lot less money and a
lot less time off, So we're hiring them instead of you.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
That's what's saying. We had a good run then.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
I mean you used to work on the show every day.
I to Now it's a couple of days a week.
Take time off if you work on other shows.

Speaker 4 (16:40):
You know, I like what happened, you know, I think
over my illustrious tenure here, I just finally fell in love,
I guess, and decide to use my time.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
Oh look at that. Realize that what you're doing. Dude.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
You can't just always take time off because your girlfriend says, hey,
let's go somewhere.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
You can't eventually gonna run out of a cab Evidadly
you can't.

Speaker 5 (17:00):
Well, I mean out of vacations.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
Somewhere for New Year's I can't.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
I have to work every day from December first until
April first, because I use them all my vacation.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
We did all that stuff this summer.

Speaker 5 (17:13):
Wait what Yeah, basically gonna be working seven days a week.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
So okay, I'm just telling you, you gotta you gotta
watch out for that.

Speaker 5 (17:21):
You're right, You're right, that's not a bad thing. But
I did hear that. You know, I do have a
radio voice from some people, So I think I have
a career.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
It is well, and you do podcasts, I do good.

Speaker 5 (17:31):
Maybe some audiobooks, Jason stay tuned.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
Yeah, oh really, it was the best of times. It
was the worst of time.

Speaker 5 (17:36):
No, I'm reading Wild Robots right now.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
How dare you that? Wait, that's a that's a graphic novel.
They don't do audiography.

Speaker 4 (17:42):
There's an actual literature side too, how dare you?

Speaker 2 (17:46):
Alex tyshert reads Watchmen?

Speaker 5 (17:48):
Can you imagine?

Speaker 2 (17:50):
And then someone had to do it. It's like a squirrel. Hey,
someone had to read the the audiobook.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
No, that that is true. How long will it take me? Yeah,
about a half hour. We're just you're just reading a
graphic novel. Man, Just roll right through it all. It's
all you'll be done. Yeah, you'll be done. Do I
read fast now?

Speaker 2 (18:07):
No?

Speaker 1 (18:08):
No, don't worry about just just read. It will tell
you when to stop.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Do I need to do a voice to be doctor Manhattan? No,
just just read it straight.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
You're good.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
This is not Thomas the Tank Engine. Just read all
what top to bottom. People will understand.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
Well, which one version did you like more? George Carlin
or Ringo Starr ooh or whoever was after? You know,
I can't.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
Zoe liked the ones where they talked, so she wasn't
as much a big fan of the early ones with
the with Ringo star because it was, oh okay, like
he was doing the voices. But she liked when they
actually talked themselves. So those were all the Thomases we watched.
And again it gets really weird when you go back
to the old ones and just see, here's a train
and I was looking around and you're hearing someone doing

(18:51):
a voice.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
So that's that's it's a tough one man. That's tough.
That's tough. We're a big we're a big Thomas family man.
We're a big Toomas were Yeah okay, oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
not so much for us.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
Oh, Percy was great. Percy delivers the mail on time.
Gordon thunders down the line. Emily really knows her stuff.
Henry likes to huff and puff.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
Sure you're saying hufflepuffff Henry.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
No, no, no, you can't know. I'm uh who am
I I'm Diesel ten. That's what I'm Diesel ten. Yeah,
I like Diesel ten. Diesel was a big guy. Yeah,
Diesel ten.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
Uh so is that like in speed racer? Is that
what they did? They kind of just no, no, no, look. Uh.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
A couple of quick things out of the Olympics that
are just that I say to myself, I go, man,
it's just hits.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
Me really weird. Okay, A couple of quick things after
watching it now for the last few days.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
The first one is it's amazing the free publicity and
public and goodwill that entertainment and other sports stars get
just for attending the Olympics, Like just for going to
an event and rooting. It's you see, wow, look, oh hey,
look how great that is that that celebrity X is

(20:08):
here at this rooting for some own biles, rooting for
Katie Lidecky.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
How great is this? Look at that?

Speaker 1 (20:13):
Look at look, look, look look at them sitting there yelling.
There fans just like us. And I'm going they're watching
the Olympics. I mean this is I mean, this is
like a big, a big racket to get into it.
If you're a celebrity and you need some kind of
good publicity and people are writing bad stuff about you
on the internet, no, go to the Olympics and just
be seen standing up and cheering and yelling when somebody wins,
it's gonna be Wow. Look at the look at the

(20:35):
United States pride they have and I'm like, we're all
cheering for the United States.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
We're all cheering for our athletes.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
Why do they get Why do they Why are they
suddenly they're they're better because they're the best fans, because
they're at the game and there because.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
They're gasier and more important than us. Didn't you get
the memo? Now? What they really should have done is
Travis Bickell, I mean Ben am Well and Ben Afflack
and you know Jennifer Lopez should have shown up together.
It would have gotten everybody to leave him alone. You
want to talk about international good will peace because of

(21:08):
the Olympic. Did you not see Ben Affleck's new haircut.

Speaker 1 (21:11):
Yeah, no, no, I did hard to recognize him, hard
to recognize him.

Speaker 2 (21:16):
It did, definitely.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
I know it's a.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
Little bit of an older reference. I knew what you
were doing. No, but I knew what you're doing. Go
back to taxi driver. I knew what you were doing, right,
I knew where it was.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
Look, because I'm a sucker for all those so and
so got a new haircut, or so and so steps
out for the first time in years and are unrecognizable.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
I will click on that crap all the time. What
I gotta see? What do they look like?

Speaker 1 (21:37):
Well, I was I went down a rabbit hole the
other day because like Sybil Shepherd is seen out in
public for the first time in like five years. I'm like,
oh my god, I loved Sybil Shepherd shows. Oh my
god in the ages and nineties. I love Sybil, And
I'm clicking, going look Sybil Shepherd.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
Where is she? What is she doing?

Speaker 1 (21:53):
She's in a mall. Why wasn't I at that mall?
I mean, I will so click on all that stuff. Look,
how so and so is unrecognizable? And I I know
this is clickbait, and I'm gonna have to click through
like fifteen or seventeen things. But I really want to
see what Danik and mckeller looks like right now, you know,
I really want to go back and see what Ben
from Growing Pains looks like. If I'm not gonna be
able to figure out what I will be, I'm the

(22:13):
biggest sucker for that.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
You got Growing Pains into good job by you. I mean,
you go to any of those fan conventions, you can
go meet any one of those folks, because I don't
know are there fan conventions.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
I don't think there is there eighty sitcoms fan convey
so sure, like are people going to eighty sid.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
Going, Hey, I'm gonna meet teeny others? I'm sewing. I
can't wait. This is the best thing right here? Really? Absolutely? Yeah?
All those cast reunion things huge? Is it called like
eighties con? Like if it will do eighties con, nineties con?
You name it? Really? Oh yeah? So there's a million
different like every weekend, these guys, it's like being on

(22:51):
a wrestling circuit. Where's the next show? Where's the next
house show? Okay, we are at a fan convention outside
of Pittsburgh, Like I'm Pittsburgh. I'll be in town next week.
I can't wait to talk to you all about Battlestar Galactica.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
Like I could go to a Moonlighting fan convention and
see Alice Beasley and Curtis Armstrong and Curtis Armstrong's everywhere.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
Yeah, because because he gets to do all sorts of
group reunions. Right, Oh yeah, that's true. Right, there's the
Revenge of the Nerd. We talked to Donald Gibb the
other day. I mean, look, we can get everybody together.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
I got the Risky Business reunion coming up, and I
got the Revenge of the Nerds reunion.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
I'm I'm I'm swamped this summer. Man, go back to
me in the fall. Now, what would have been great
as if Curtis Armstrong would have gotten the invite to
go hang out with Tom Cruise at the Olympics, we
all would have won. Yeah, but I don't know, he's
not getting that. I don't think he's getting know. Instead,
he was at a convention.

Speaker 6 (23:48):
He's top gun eight with Snoop Dogg.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
Yeah, buddy, I can't wait, man, you can't Are you kidding?
Part of him getting the torch at the end of
the Olympics is going to be part of Top Gun
eight or Mission Impossible Movie eight, Part two of Part.

Speaker 6 (24:03):
Seth Snoop is gonna be Goose's long lost cousin. Oh
he just and and Tom mad that Maverick killed him.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
No, I like that, And Tom Cruise walks in to
meet him, and there's just a haze of smoke and
you think he's in a big bar somewhere and he's
looking for a showdown, but it's really just Snoop by
himself in a corner and the smoke.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
Hey, come on over, sit down. It's just me. It's
just you're all good. Just come on over and sit down.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
And by the time Tom Cruise goes over and sits down,
he's so high he can't even have a conversation.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
That's a movie. There's part of the movie, right, I
thought you were gonna have it where he comes in
and he's in full dress uniform and Snoop walks over
and rips one of his metals off, has a great
one liner and then puts one of those Snoop Paris
pins on.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
Yeah, no, hey, hey, the Snoop Paris pins are pretty popular.
I bet you, I bet you, I bet you. That's
like one of the more uh, expensive sought after items
at the Eletta.

Speaker 6 (24:57):
Now Tom Cruise peels his face off and it's Martha Stewart.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
Fast friends. See there you go, it all comes together. Yeah,
I've actually got advertisement before the snoop pin. So you
can you can buy a pretty quality pin. Yeah, no
pins about fifteen bucks. You can get a pretty good knockoff. Look,
I'll take you back. You want a good pin star,
I'll tell you this.

Speaker 1 (25:22):
So in ninety seven, we all when I was this,
when I was working in TV behind the scenes of producer,
and we go to the All Star Game, Baseball All
Star Game in Cleveland, right, So that's where it was.
So now when you get there, you get everybody work
in the media. You all get your you know, swag package,
and you get your lanyard with your identification, and everybody

(25:45):
gets a pin. Right, everybody gets an All Star pins.
It random, okay, cool? Is all the same pin it was.
It's all the same pin. It's all the same thing.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (25:52):
So like I I went and I put it on
my hat, Like I put it through one of the
islets in my hat. I don't want to put it
on my shirt because I'm a big if I put
this on my shirt. It's gonna put a hole in
my shirt and then it's gonna get bigger and I'm
gonna ruin the shirt. So I put the Luckily I
did because I made money for all my friends. I
put the pin through an eyelet in my hat. I'm like, oh,
I'm wearing that. So we finished working for the day
and we go out. It's a home run derby. So

(26:13):
we're sitting at where all of us there's like fifteen
of us sitting in the stands and right field, and
we're we're watching the all we're watching the home run derby.
I think Sandy Alomar Junior was in it. He was
the big guy that year because obviously playing in Cleveland.
And guy behind me just says, hey, is that a
Is that a real All Star pin?

Speaker 2 (26:30):
I looked at it. I go, what do you mean?
He goes, where'd you get that?

Speaker 1 (26:33):
I go, well, we all work for Fox and we
got the All Star pins as part of stiff. He goes, huh,
I'll give you fifty bucks for that pin. And it
was off my hat and in that guy's hand in
about two point four seconds.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
I go and really, yeah, here you go. I mean,
I'm twenty six. I don't. I'm like, yeah, here you go.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
Guy pulls out fifty bucks up like oh now everybody
around me. It was like when you drop some chum
in the water. Yeah, And like the all of a sudden,
everyone's like, oh, hey.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
You can have mine.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
The guy goes, hey, hey, easy, I'm not gonna spend
fifty bucks for all these pins. Let's figure out a deal.
Let's figure out a deal.

Speaker 2 (27:05):
No, no, you set the market rate. Who else wants
a pen for fifty bucks? He said? All right?

Speaker 1 (27:11):
He said, all right, I'll buy four more pins for
fifty bucks apiece. And they're all jumping over going here
take my take, My I dig that.

Speaker 2 (27:19):
How fast was your fifty dollars invested in a Nacho helmet? Uh?

Speaker 1 (27:24):
No, my fifty dollars was that invested in the All
Star hat that I had to buy?

Speaker 2 (27:28):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (27:28):
Is that's what I really wanted? I'm like, oh, I
really wanted that All Star.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
It was a nice hat.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
So I bought that couple other things I bought lunch.
I was like they were like, oh man, like the
next day, people are sending to me, Jason. There was
that guy who was buying Yeah, do you know where
he is? Like? This is other people, do you know
where he is? And they're showing me their pins, going,
I'll let him buy my pin. I go, yeah, I
think that was pray yesterday's price. So he says, don't
want to keep paying fifty bucks for a pinning goes
you think like forty, Well, what do you think?

Speaker 2 (27:51):
I go, I don't know. The guy was just behind me.
He gave me fifty dollars. I don't know who he was.
He just did that. There's other people that did it too.

Speaker 1 (27:57):
And for like the next day and a half with
the All Star Game day after, everybody was looking for
this guy in the stands.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
Everybody where was he? What did he look like? What
was he where? I go?

Speaker 1 (28:05):
Well, he was wearing a yellow shirt and you know,
black shorts and a and a.

Speaker 2 (28:09):
And a Cleveland Indians hat, you know, the time Indians.
I'm like, I don't know. They're like, ohver that I go.
But that was to day.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
I don't think he's wearing the same clothes he's wearing yesterday.
I'm pretty sure he's probably going home and changed. I
couldn't tell you what he looks like. And then people
were mad at me like, oh, you should have helped
us out, And I'm like, what do you mean? The
guy just asked me, and everybody else just happened to
be there. I'm the guy wearing on my hat. That's
why I got to sell it. Make fifty bucks. Okay,
so that works.

Speaker 2 (28:31):
I dig that. I'm now gonna look at what the
secondary market is for said pin today. Really so I
made out on that.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
So I sold that thing for fifty bucks. Oh wait,
well wait, people at Fox might be listening. Allegedly I
sold that thing for fifty bucks in ninety seven and
I made and it's I made out on that deal today.
It is not worth more money than it was when
I sold it in ninety seven.

Speaker 6 (28:58):
Jason, be honest. Yeah, it wasn't real, was it.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
No? It was real pin, real, all star pitting. The
guy looked at it and said, no, this is real. Yeah,
here's your money. Is her great? Yeah? I mean I
guess he thought I mean he said yeah he could.
I think he thought it. No, no, no, was he blind?

Speaker 1 (29:11):
No?

Speaker 2 (29:11):
No, no, no he was fine. He gave me. He
gave me actually three fifties.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
And it was a test, like am I going to
be a nice guy and say thank you for the
three you know, for the two twenties and the ten.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
No, no, no, no, I'm glad. I feel I feel
like I made a good deal right there. I was worried.

Speaker 1 (29:26):
You're telling me, well, you can get it now. Now
it's like three hundred and fifty dollars, and I would say, oh, okay, bucks,
the market is flatten there.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
I mean you can get a nineteen sixty three All
Star Game Baseball press pin h for under a hundred bucks.
Woh okay, that actually has a Chief Wahoo on it.

Speaker 1 (29:44):
Okay, so it's depreciated and I made some cash. I
am feeling good. All right, all right, I made I
made money twenty seven years ago. I made way.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
Wait wait, what did you give that a hat to?
You gotta listen to the whole show. I wish I
still had that hat. I wish I did. I don't
have that hatening who would you give it to? Oh?

Speaker 1 (30:06):
I think in the in the four or five times
that we've moved since then, I think that's.

Speaker 6 (30:11):
How hot was she?

Speaker 2 (30:12):
That hat has gone? No, no, come on, man, that
was with Pam then. No, no, no, Pam and I
were together.

Speaker 6 (30:16):
I don't know man. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
No, wow. I mean that wasn't implying anything. The Fairy's
just maybe somebody was in the eyes and said I
like that hat. It was a business trip.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
No, if she backed her eyes and said I like
that hat, I would say, yeah, you got fifty bucks,
you can have it.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
No, no, no, no, because you you have to come
in profit. Now you're just flipping from a pin to
a hat, you know, more money out of it.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
No, that hat was only probably twenty five bucks. I
was I would have sold that hat for double that. Oh.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
Actually, now it's fifty bucks. Back then it was a
twenty five hour hat. See that's hours. Ye. See I
had I had a mind for business, even back in
the nineties.

Speaker 6 (30:54):
He's two hats.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
I had a mine for business and a body for sin.
That was me back in nineteen ninety seven. Look at you,
nicely done. Time out to find out what's trending in
the wide world of sports from Martin Weiss. No bigger
story today, obviously than the Mets scoring three in the
top of the ninth and beating the Rockies, But Martin
has all the details and more.

Speaker 7 (31:14):
See I was about to say baseball scores of note
and then afterwards go baseball scores of note to one
person and then read the Mets one.

Speaker 8 (31:23):
But you took care of it for me, dude.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
We're a half game out of the wild Card. This
means a lot to a lot of people.

Speaker 8 (31:30):
No, I'm just giving you a hard time.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
I know you are because I'm looking where Detroit strong
and I'm seeing it all the way down.

Speaker 2 (31:36):
I know you.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
You can't come at me with any Detroit team except
for Michigan.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
And you had all the plays. So there.

Speaker 8 (31:42):
Hey, got all the rings last year too.

Speaker 2 (31:46):
That is true. That is true. They ain't taking them
away even if they try to vacate stuff. I mean,
it lives on.

Speaker 8 (31:52):
It'll be live on, just like that. That pen that's
just going and going and going.

Speaker 7 (31:58):
Speaking of the Detroit Tigers, they do have a lead
currently over the Als leading Seattle Mariners seven I mean
three two two in the top of the eighth inning,
bottom of the fifth inning. Two of the best teams
in the National League, the Phillies and the Dodgers, going
out of Dodgers with a four to three. League Kyle
Schwarber has been going off. He's got all the RBI
right now for the Phillies with a leadoff home run

(32:20):
and then a bas is clearing two run scoring double.
Earlier today, the Yankees and the Angels played in the Bronx.

Speaker 8 (32:26):
They played two.

Speaker 7 (32:27):
New York got game one five to two, Los Angeles
got Game two eight to two. Yankees now tied with
the Orioles atop the AL East after Baltimore beat the
Blue Jays seven to three earlier. Today, Diamondbacks took both
games against the Guardians and their doubleheader. They moved three
and a half back of Los Angeles for the top
spot in the NL West. Clubs outscored the Twins eight
to two. Minnesota's three and a half back of Cleveland.

(32:48):
In the AL Central, Astros beat the Rangers six to four,
tied again with Seattle for that top spot in the
AL West. White Sox win streak lasted exactly one game,
as the Oakland A's beat the White Sox three to two.
Five fights today in Seahawks practice, including one with DK
Matcalf hitting a teammate with a helmet that had to hurt.

Speaker 8 (33:08):
I hope they had the Guardian caps on.

Speaker 7 (33:11):
The Dallas Cowboys have officially named Ezekiel eldid As they're
starting running back. The forty nine ers working on a
deal to bring former Lions safety Tracy Walker into the fold.
Also still in talks with the Pittsburgh Dealers about a
trade for wide receiver Brandon and I U kid is
he trade that just will not happen and we hear
about it every single day. Ravens quarterback, Lamar Jackson and

(33:33):
Derek Henry running back. They won't play in the preseason.
On Friday, Josh Johnson, we'll get the start at quarterback
against the Eagles.

Speaker 8 (33:40):
Jeff Rode receiver, Mike Williams.

Speaker 7 (33:41):
Activated off the pup list, and Ron del Moore Falcons
wide receiver Carter off the field with an air cast
on his right leg. Hope he gets well soon. Back
to you guys, Thanks so much, Martin, appreciate it.

Radio The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon live from
the Tirac dot Com studios. Big, I haven't heard that one. No,
that's a tell you well, ty, she hasn't worked in
a couple of days. He's pulling out the old ones.

Speaker 2 (35:09):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (35:10):
The last couple of days, we've had some more light
shed on the story surrounding what is exactly going on
and what went on last season with the Philadelphia Eagles
started out ten and one, but according to an ESPN
article that did detailed the situation with the team, everybody
was walking around like their dog died when we lost

(35:33):
a game. It's like we just lost the Super Bowl. Yes,
did the Jets break the Eagles by winning, Yes they did.
But a lot of details about the relationship between Nick Sirianni,
the head coach, and Jalen Hurts, and a lot of
detail about how, hey, uh, Nick Sirianni had to stand
up in front of the team at this spring and
say last year was on me, this is my fault.

(35:54):
We'll get it fixed. We'll do new things this year.
And the team felt that was a breath of fresh air.
And they're hitting the ground this summer hopefully with some
renewed spirit and hey, maybe we can work.

Speaker 2 (36:06):
Together right now.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
Look, the easy question here is is Nick Sirianni coaching
for his job?

Speaker 2 (36:11):
Of course he is.

Speaker 1 (36:12):
Of course, he is a guy, this successful who whose
team hates him and he can't get along with his
quarterback of course, he's coaching for his job. If that
get along and the Eagles win, Sirianni keeps the job.
If he doesn't and they lose, Sirianni is gonna get fired.
But here's the thing, Mike, this is where this conversation
for the last couple of days we give you something
a little bit different. If they don't win, right, let's

(36:37):
just say they don't win, it's gonna be a new
head coach who wants to go in there and coach
Jalen Hurts. Okay, because that's a bit because all of
a sudden, Jalen Hurts clearly with what he says and does,
has shown that I will flex the power that I
have on this team.

Speaker 2 (36:52):
Right, what was the big thing in the offseason?

Speaker 1 (36:54):
He was asked by reporters, Hey, what have you noticed
about Sirianni being open minded to change up the offense
like he has?

Speaker 2 (37:00):
And he said, great question. I don't know that I
know the answer to it.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
WHOA, He is not shy with letting you know where
he stands and pulling power plays, right, and now there's
quarterbacks to pull power plays one hundred percent. Look Aaron Rodgers,
Look he's my quarterback. Right, he pulls power plays. He's
trying to do it all the time. Maybe that's why
Robert sala is still coaching the Jets and not someone else,
and not Bill Belichick or not someone else with a
better resume, because hey, okay, he needs a certain.

Speaker 2 (37:26):
Kind of head coach.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
I don't know how many coaches say, yeah, I want
to go in for coaching Aaron Rodgers because he could
be he's kind of a coach killer, not someone that
does things that helps the coaching staff. Who's going to
go in and take that job with Philadelphia because you're
already set up to a standard where we should be
winning the super Bowl every year because look at the
talented roster we have, so anything less so a super

(37:47):
Bowl is as expected, anything less as a failure. And
you have Jalen Hurts, who Now you know, if Sirianni
gets fired, it's gonna be because Jalen Hurts doesn't want him.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
He's talked about it in the past.

Speaker 1 (37:57):
The biggest thing with a guy that's won, like Seria
has playoffs, last year, super Bowl, the year before, year
three could be or year five rather, but year three
after that could be you're fired. Like, I don't know
what Philadelphia thinks they're getting into. Who they're gonna get
to replace Siriani if they.

Speaker 2 (38:15):
Go this way.

Speaker 1 (38:16):
So that's the dangerous part. Yeah, the stuff about Siriotti
coach for a job, that's easy. But if he doesn't like,
who are you gonna get? Because I don't know that
this is a job that appeals to a lot of people.

Speaker 2 (38:25):
Yeah, it's well, you know what, all the coaches and
coordinators that everybody else that aspires to be a head coach. Uh,
there's only thirty two of them. So yeah, it's it's
attractive to all of them.

Speaker 1 (38:36):
Just to okay, attractive to somebody who's gonna come in
and take the Eagles to the next level. Someone will
take the job, of course, But what I mean is
someone who's gonna come in and say, oh, I'll get
you these extra four wins, like I'll get you to
the to the to the division title. Uh, and then
i'll get you further in the plass, I'll get you
to the to the super Bowl. I mean, who's out
there that's gonna get to him?

Speaker 2 (38:55):
Bill Bell that job all year long, in all of
his media opportunities. You know what's curious last year, right,
you'd think, well, you had changes in coordinators, right, you
saw what Steichen was able to do. You shuffle things out,
that's gonna make it things tough. Well, instead it didn't.
You know. Johnson came in and they got out to

(39:15):
a good, good start and then the collapse rivaled only
by the Jaguars on the AFC side of things down
the stretch, injured Trevor Lawrence, all of those kind of things,
Christian Kirk out. But for Sirianni, there's always been that
kind of questioning all the way back to when he
got things started, and the results have been there. And
maybe you've got enough hubris in that front office for

(39:38):
Howie Roseman that they could find a guy to fit
the suit shades of Jerry Jones without him doing all
the media appearances to talk about how great he is.
That you've built this roster and that you can get it,
you know from B two C with whomever comes in
and fills that role. I wonder how much of that

(39:58):
plays to it as well. But yeah, Jalen Hurts fifteen
interceptions last year, a career high, and you saw at times,
even with all of the great personnel, that they struggled
down the stretch, and now you lose a couple of
key pieces to your offensive line. Jason Kelsey's gonna sign
one hundred million dollar podcast steal. He ain't coming back

(40:21):
to save your line.

Speaker 1 (40:23):
I'm telling you this, this is a big year because
the future of the Eagles suddenly, this super Bowl window
can close really fast.

Speaker 2 (40:30):
Yeah, but your help by the fact that the Giants
and Cowboys are still there. Yeah yeah, oh yeah.

Speaker 1 (40:35):
And again, go get Bill Belichick, have him coaching Jalen Hurts.
That'd be awesome. I think it'd be great for us.
We're not gonna throw the ball, Jalen. You're gonna run
the ball fifty four times a game. That's what we're
gonna do.

Speaker 2 (40:45):
Let's go.

Speaker 1 (40:46):
Coming up next, more big news out of the NFL.
Keep it here, Jason and Mike Fox.
