Speaker 2 (00:22):
Let's give this.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello, Welcome in side hour three The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon, Live from the Tirack
dot Com studios. Tirack dot com help you get there,
an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free roadhazard protection, and
over ten thousand recommended installers. Tirack dot Com is the
way tire buying should be. So two big NFL stories. One,

(00:54):
I just okay, I bet you no. No, Well, we'll
get to the Jets.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
I don't want to be but I gotta be realistic.
It's tough.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
They're a friend of mine once and we.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
First started working at Fox back in like early two
thousands when we came out and we were both producers
and we were waiting for the like the day for
Fox Sports one to open for the first Like, sure,
it was Fox Sports Net back then, and we were
talking one time, and he's guy. He and I we
got along really well and were both producers, and we
were talking about different things. He goes, you know, I
don't want to be negative, but you got to be

(01:27):
realistic and and and you can't be realistic without being negative.
I said, yeah, no, you can tell them. I get
what you're saying, like, I want to be realist. I
want to be I don't want to be negative. I
gotta be realistic. Jamier Gibbs gets hurt tonight, Yeah, and
practice for the Lions, and it is a hamstring injury.
According to all reports, it's not good. Now, look, hamstring injury.
Hopefully he can come back for Week one. And that's

(01:49):
all the sunshine, lollipops, rainbows. But this is one of
the most dynamic players in the NFL in a perfect
situation in the backfield. Last year, Dan Campbell a master
in making sure that I'm gonna I'm gonna ensure that
both of my running backs are playing at a high
level late in the season and for the first few
weeks of the year, it's like, why don't you give

(02:10):
the ball to Jamir Gibbs. Moore, why don't you give
the ball more?

Speaker 2 (02:13):
What did he do?

Speaker 1 (02:14):
I'm gonna give the ball David Montgomery because he is
a guy that has had this sort of responsibility before.
And then slowly, Jamiir Gibbs is gonna get in and
at the end of the season, he's not gonna hit
a rookie wall and by the end of the year
he was their best running back. Lontgomery was still really good,
but Gibbs this is how they made that run the
NFC Championship.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
But also a different, different style, right. Montgomery's a guy
that you can work between the tackles, oh sure, and
lower the head and short yardage, goal line whatever, take
the pounding and then you know, use Gibbs as the
guy getting to the outside in the passing game dynamism.
But we've also seen it time and time again. You know,

(02:54):
these types of injuries are what crop up for these
for backs of of what Gibbs has been.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Yeah, and this is and this is the tough part,
is that you tell me the last time in training
camp someone has had a ham a somewhat serious hamstring
injury or a calf injury. Or a groin injury and
they've played the whole season.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Doesn't have a.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Chance when when you get hurt like this in training
camp at best, you are in and out of the
lineup all year long.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
And that's what you're looking at right now.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
With jamiir Well, they're already concerns about him last year, yeah, right,
even in a limited split production workload, which is what's
going to be the same again because they paid Montgomery
to come back, so it's not like he was going
to disappear, but trying to go to that same level
of workload. You already had some issues with some injury
aggravations and when he was one hundred or ninety or whatever,

(03:50):
that percentage is fantastic. And in that offense, especially with
Jameson Williams starting to come on being oh yeah, a threat,
they expected Ama Ross, Saint Brown, Laporta, all this stuff
just that much more explosive.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
But now this has gotta be really consistent.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Is a huge dent in the in the Lions plans
to get to the Super Bowl. Right They're still gonna
be one of the best teams in the NFC. Their
offense is probably with everybody healthy, projected to be even better. Right,
you think Jamis and Williams finally is gonna take off now.
But this is such a huge dent because he means
so much of this team, and you know he's just
gonna be in and out of the lineup. He'll play

(04:26):
a couple of weeks up the Hampster's got him down
for a month. He'll come back for a game. Nope,
still bothered me. He's out, Then he come back for
two games, then he sits out for two games, then
he's back for two games. That's what it's gonna be
for him, because that's what it is for everybody that
suffers one of these types of tishoe injuries. Telling you, man,
the the the hamstring, the groin, the calf, this is

(04:47):
these are injuries that just don't go away without extended
rest and offseason and you're hoping, hey, you gotta change
your your training regimen to make sure they don't crop
up again. You know, you get you get one of
these injuries once and it's like, wow, look out. But
he's he means everything to what this team needs to
do offensively. That without him, boy, it's it's I mean,

(05:09):
it's tough for me to see them making a big
run because they'll rely on him to be that big
home run hitter. When they're running game without him, just
looks somewhat pedestrian, right and him and Montgomery, Oh, man,
what's unbelievable. But now suddenly it's my Oh they might
be a little bit more one dimensional than you expect,
and you take a big step back. That's why I
don't want it. I know it's all, but it gotta

(05:29):
be realistic. And when you have an injury like this
in the season, in the preseason, it's just gonna dog
you for the rest of the season.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
Ye have the well traveled Craig Reynolds is the third.
You've got a fourth round pick this year, Shamar Jefferson,
seventh rounder and twenty one, and then a couple other
guys le rolling out the roster. Be curious to see,
you know, the running back position fluidity in guys that

(05:55):
potentially find themselves out in a numbers game elsewhere of
the Lions look to add on coming out of the
jump in this season. You got the Rams on the
first week Tampa expected playoff teams, so two potential playoff
teams right off the jump. At Arizona week three, no
idea what the Cardinals are. They could be very interesting.

(06:18):
I think they're getting slept on based on history, even
though they've changed up that roster. And then week four
you've got Seattle, so you played three games against the
NFC West out of your first four weeks. And then
they've got a week five by, which to me is
either really great if I'm coming in and I'm beat up.

(06:39):
So when you've got a Gibbs that's already potentially on
the shelf, then yeah, I guess it's a win. Otherwise
I think I'd be throwing stuff at the guy who
set up the schedule.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
If I've got a week five by I don't need
it yet. I don't need it yet. Man.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
And as of today, as of right now, forty nine
Ers Chiefs Ravens the only teammes with better odds to
win the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
So we'll hope for a good outcome for Jamir Gibbs.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Maybe it's not that serious and it's just a few
days and sitting out, But if you get hurt said
it's somewhat serious.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
That's what happens. This is how it goes.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Meanwhile, outside of the hey, the Jets really blew it
with hasan reddick storyline.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Well, we already covered that.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
You gotta listen to the Whole Show podcast will go
up as we finish up here tonight.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
But yes, a lot of angst surrounding your Jets.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
There is a new book that's going to be coming
out about Aaron Rodgers that's going to shed light on
many big things for him over the course of the
past few years. Was announced today an unauthorized biography that
is written about Aaron Rodgers and Ian O'Connor the New
York Daily News, and it details a lot of different things,
his relationship with his parents and why he was estrange

(07:55):
from them for a decade, how he's building it back
up with his dad now his grand It was an
incredible story about fighting in World War Two that's just unbelievable.
Football wise, it gets to how upset he was during
the big Packers Seahawks playoff game in twenty fourteen because
he wanted certain plays called Mike McCarthy wouldn't call them,

(08:17):
upset with Adam Schefter after reports that he wanted out
of Green Bay and he was going to be a Jet.
So there is a lot of football out there, but
the biggest thing is that he is in this book
is going to be how much he regrets saying he
was immunized when it came to the COVID vaccine, because
back in twenty twenty players were getting vaccinated and it

(08:39):
was a big thing, and Roger Goodell wanted everybody to
be vaccinated and teams had to be fully vaccinated. And
Aaron Rodgers said, yeah, I've been immunized. And then we
found out very shortly after that his immunization was taking
whatever he took from a holistic doctor, and that's how
he wanted to fight COVID, was being immunized. And he says,

(09:00):
that's the biggest mistake I made, because in Rogers' words,
that's what the only thing people have on me is
that because I lied about it, he didn't I didn't
say I should have said what I did, that this
is what I'm taking and I'm not that I wasn't vaccinated.
And I see this story and I see so many
people talking about it, and I just and I just say,
you know what, I really I don't care about this anymore,

(09:22):
right like I only have because because you're into holistic
medicine and who he was seeing and I'm like, and
it's not just about is this is not a COVID conversation.
It's just I have no time for this story because
eventually I get to a point where because I'm older now,
because I'm in my fifties, I'm like, I have so
much less time for people's eccentricities, and when when it's
you're you're just out there with stuff that I'm just like,

(09:44):
you know what, I don't even care.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
I can't.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
I can't sit here and listen to you talk about this.
I can't sit here to listen to tell me about this,
and you know, the darkness retreats and all these different things.
I'm just like, you know what, at some point I
just took I just turn off and I go, you know,
I don't have time for this. I'm not gonna sit
here and humor you with your thoughts about this or
about this, or to sit here and listen to how
you thought that ivermectin was gonna cure you and instead
you went to a doctor who told you this and
then this is what was prescribed by I just don't care.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
I really, I just don't care.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
And I'm surprised that this is a big enough headline
because I thought, well, the other football stuff is pretty cool.
But yeah, I get because Rogers was kind of the
poster guy for Hey, he lied about getting vaccinated, and
that is a big thing because that's one thing you
can't back away from. He did lie about it, so
I get where he says, Hey, of all my mistakes
line to everybody, I shouldn't have done that. But overall
now I'm just like everything, especially with him. It's like

(10:33):
all these stories that come out about what he believes
and all the podcast stuff, I just I just don't
have time for it.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
I just don't.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
And it's it's hard for me to see that so
many people that do, because is it worth spending oxygen
over conversations about how I think this?

Speaker 2 (10:47):
And I don't.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
We see conspiracy theories and stuff so much every day
that when it comes to this, I'm like, I just
I just don't care. I just don't care about this
part of it.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
Yeah, I mean, look, you get into the Connor. It's
a biography, right, A lot of interviews with Rogers quote
Out of the Darkness, the Mystery of Aaron Rodgers and
going through Olivia Monn and Dank Patrick and all of
these relationships, his family whatever.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
Like there's curiosity to it.

Speaker 4 (11:13):
Like, look, Hollywood's built on the the legends of who
people were in their private times, private lives, and look
at anything anybody does.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Hey, that guy's eating a sandwich over there. What kind
of sandwiches?

Speaker 5 (11:27):
Right?

Speaker 4 (11:27):
I mean how many times have you been at a
place in Los Angeles and there's some random Dalist celebrity
that people still get out all out of sorts about
because it's their their chance meeting, right, I mean we've
we've had it.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
Look, there's Nicholas Cage. Oh sorry, tyscher tooson soon on
Nicholas Cage. Sorry about that, but just.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
On down the line.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
Right, there's there's all of those, and you're curious, what
do they do when they're not on a movie set?

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Are they people just like you? I mean there's their
own deaths.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
And if there's a little bit of eccentricity and and
just kind of.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
Like, wow, that's how the other Halt lives.

Speaker 6 (12:01):
I mean, Jason went gaga over at John Loft love
it's John Lovitz.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
That's right, Oh yeah, John Lovevittz.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
Yeah, the fifties cap John Lovett was kind of like, hey,
there's John Last sitting by himself.

Speaker 4 (12:10):
But it's that kind of thing where you get excited,
Like to my think, like even when Rogers obfuscated lied
whatever term you want to use.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
Did I care.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
I'm not getting medical advice from him. So as long
as he's in the protocols of whatever the team and
the league we're operating within, and he's cleared to play,
don't care, right, I believe what you want to believe
if you're getting your medical advice, and maybe you go
when you do your research based on something he says.
But if you're getting your medical advice from him or

(12:39):
doctor Joe Rogan or anybody else, have at it. If
that's where you want to go, I can't stop you
STI old. I can't tell you how to feel. I
also can't, you know, to go into the earlier conversations
like I gotta be smart about where I can impact
change or things that are beyond me, beyond my pay grade,

(13:00):
beyond my relationships here, there, anywhere. And for the Aaron
Rodgers stuff, most of it was kind of like, all right,
how's this effect in the football field and what his
teammates think about him? I really don't care that Madison
Avenue turned their back on him. He's gonna make four
hundred million dollars as a quarterback. Whether he makes another
two hundred million dollars in endorsements or somebody wants to

(13:20):
hire him as an analyst when he retires, really does
not concern me. If it cost him the Jeopardy job, Sorry,
you would have just been the next snarky guy up
there trying to tell me how smart you were.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
I read it, and I read this explanation and what
was in the and I said, Okay, I'll look at
it again because we're gonna talk about on the shows
a little bit. Then I'm done, Like I'm not gonna
waite hip deep into all of these different things.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
No disrespect to you, ok, fine journalists? Yeah No, if
a book showed up here, I might, I might read it.
I'm not paying to anybody.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
But don't you feel like you already know that if
here's some of the where he's that in.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
The because I already know the stuff about his family.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
Yeah, I know that, Mike, I got I got all
those details by reading an article.

Speaker 1 (14:05):
That's all thing I would if I was writing a book,
I would never let people I wouldn't let people know
one thing that was in it and nothing else because.

Speaker 4 (14:12):
For a movie anymore. Yeah, I've already seen the movie.
Also know how his NFL career ended. Still snaps, stop.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Stop, get those fours up.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Stop exit out about a Fresca exit swollen down. The

Speaker 1 (14:29):
NFL on the way, but clearly there is one Olympic
controversy that is not gonna go away, regardless as to
how ridiculous it is. That's next right here, Jason and
Mike Fox.

You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. People are gonna say, this is a
great game, Braves beating the Giants and ten innings won nothing.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
No other game sucked. Game suck. It was awful. I
hate baseball is.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
The ending sucked? The results when they you know, we're
hugging a high five and the results suck after a
hard fought victory.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
You know, you think the Braves who couldn't beat the bleeping'
Rockies and lost seven run lead, you think the Giants
can score one bleeping run for Blake Snell.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
No, no, no game, Chris Sale, this was his equal.
This game was terrible.

Speaker 6 (16:03):
It was awful.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
It was a fast moving game. A couple of south
Paws at their finest. It was like a two hour
ten in games like it was nineteen forty nine. It's fantastic,
fast moving game. I mean, look they we we got
to witness my White Sox win the game on a Monday,
first Monday win of the season.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
They were four. Wow, Well they got to be o
for a lot of other days too. I don't think
it's just Monday.

Speaker 1 (16:29):
I think it's I mean shot, I don't think there's
I don't I think there's Can you find what their.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
Record is on every day? No?

Speaker 1 (16:35):
No, look at look at what their record is on
every day of the week. What's their best day, what's
the what's their best day of the week, the best day,
best day? Like what day? Can I say, Hey, I
can go, I can go gamble and bet on the
White Sox to win.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
Well, let's see, uh, let's see.

Speaker 4 (16:53):
The White Sox now are one and fourteen on Mondays, Okay.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
They are two and seventeen on Sundays, Okay, so I'm
not betting them Sundays.

Speaker 4 (17:01):
They are six and eleven on Tuesdays, okay. Okay, that's
their highest winning percentage of any day of the week
at three p fifty three, five and fourteen Wednesdays, three
and eight on getaway days on Thursdays good, five and
fourteen on Fridays, and seven and thirteen on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
So basically, what you're saying is you've beaten the Yankees
on Monday. Yeah, and you're going into the day of
the week where you normally have the best chance to win,
like this could be. It's a big chance to take
the first two games from the Yankees.

Speaker 4 (17:31):
Yeah, but before this this win tonight, I mean even
with it two and thirty one Sundays and Mondays.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
Yeah, no Sunday my bad days for you, bad days,
bad day work. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
But look how but here's the thing. You're probably getting
Aaron Judge. Well, you can't trade him because the trade
deadlines over. But the Yankees may just cut him. And
so do you lose to the White Sox twelve two,
you may just well start over. They may kick the
Yankees out of baseball. Now you may get a four
feit win tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
Now, you and I sitting here in the studio, we
obviously don't have the audio ranked up, but had to
laugh when I saw how animated Aaron Boone was in
his postgame pretzer, like I want to seek that out.
Eyes were wide, as if the attack had begun by
the New York media over that one.

Speaker 1 (18:14):
He's probably just saying fired, Yes, you think I'm gonna
be fired after that?

Speaker 2 (18:19):
Fire? R ed fired? God, that's right. Fired.

Speaker 6 (18:23):
How many times do you guys think he said the
words the White Sox are a good team over under.

Speaker 4 (18:28):
Oh, he's gonna sell it. Ah, they're right there, They're
right there, It's almost there. Hang on, I don't know
that you could say there were a good teams. People
would see through that. He would say, Hey, the White
Sox still play hard. That's what I think he would say.
They still play hard. That's what you're gonna get from Arion.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
There's still professional bunch over there. Aaron Jason Smith, New
York Daily News. Do you really think that you're gonna
get to be at the game tomorrow? Audi, Yankee's gonna
send you home.

Speaker 4 (18:55):
We'll see if they take on personality of Grady size more.
He was a great professional. Sorry to see pedro go.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
Hey, follow up here, Aaron Jason Smith, Dyllan News. Again,
I just said my name.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
You should remember, uh any true to the room and
at the Aaron Judge is gonna manage the Yankees tomorrow? Hey,
that's not gonna happen. And you just you just kind
of hang out at the at the hotel? Is that
gonna happen? Let me know, I got ragged.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
Write that down. I gotta call that in all right.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
I can't wait to see the back page. It'll be
up here soon right for the post.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
White or the daily whitewashed White sucked, We suck.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
That might be abridged far, but I kind of like that.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
Yanks lose and laugh for two MLB's worst, that's gonna
be the head line.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
I mean, you know, yes, okay, it's one loss and
one sixty two, but wow, man, and I kick it
over the Yankees. Every day.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
I feel like it's doom and gloom a yet I
look up there they are at First Place, hanging out there.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
Everything is still fine. Man.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
You got your orioles to hit seventy wins and all
the young stars they've got, yeah keys, you know, he
kept seeing the graphic the chase for three hundred for
Aaron Judge and his home run race. But yeah, this
was a laugh him from the game to go. And
then once they started really trotting around the bace like wow,

(20:15):
you really need to keep texting Fobby, because he started
texting me. He decided to divert his energy not about
White Sox jankies, but about fantasy leagues.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
Oh good, right, I think he knows that I'm making
fun of him for the White Sox and he's not
gonna get lad McConkey from me in a trade.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
Okay, that's not gonna happen, but should I write him back?

Speaker 4 (20:32):
I authorized the lad mcconkeye selections in that league, in
all the leagues.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
Smith wanted to take Malachai Corley, and instead I told
him to take lat McConkie. The Jason Smith Show with
Mike Harvin Love from the Tire Todd Cobb Studios.

Speaker 4 (20:49):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
Even though the Olympics are over, and I am the
first guy to tell you, and I think there's a
lot of us out there because these Olympics were fantastic.
I'm kind of an Olympic hangover. I felt weird waking
up today and not having something great to watch, because
that's the thing about these Olympics. The ratings were so good,
so many stars, but there was always something every day, right,

(21:10):
the big stars were always competing. In the first week plus,
it was every day was either Simone Biles or Katie Ldecci.
And then as time went on and it was and
every couple of days it was either the men's basketball team, Yeah,
the women's basketball team or the women's World Cup team.

Speaker 4 (21:26):
It was faced out brilliantly every day. Yeah, because you
had star power all along and what do we love this?

Speaker 2 (21:31):
We love star power.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
We love winning this show and all of those we
were favored to win, and even Lyles getting in even
with the chaos of that bronze medal and whatever else,
you had star power every prime time.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
Oh, this was the best Olympics in a long time, right,
we had the Because the last two are obviously affected
by COVID. This was incredible. It was so well done
with all the big stars. Was so great. And yet
we're gonna get one at least one or two controversies
that are continued to linger. One is gonna be Noah
Lyles because boy, his hate it for the US men's
basketball team. Man, that's not going anywhere. But I like
that they fired back the super fun at his expense.

(22:06):
I like how they say we don't play for bronze medals.
That was pretty good.

Speaker 6 (22:09):
What are your thoughts on Tyreek Hill saying he'd beat
no Allisles in a race.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
I want to see that race. You think no Alliles
is I bet you he would say, hey, let's put
up the money, I'll race.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
Okay, let's and if he comes in second, he had COVID.
That's what he said. Right, I'll wear the mask.

Speaker 4 (22:25):
I think I saw the odds, the prop odds, wait
for it, wait for it actual odds. Yes, I saw
odds earlier. Spours book sports betting ag. So we take
it for what.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
It is sports book.

Speaker 4 (22:40):
Tyreek Hill is a plus two fifty no alliles a
minus four hundred favorite.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
That's prohibitive favorite. Okay, all right, we'll see.

Speaker 4 (22:49):
We'll say cheatah yo, we'll say, we'll say he wants in.
Oh but which is good? I like, I like chirpiness.
That isn't about contracts from wide receiver for sure.

Speaker 6 (22:59):
World champion. I'll show you world champions. Yeah, Tyreek Hill
will not be pulling out of it.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
Uh yeah, very good, very good.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
Yeah, no, very good.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
But the one Olympics story that continues to rage is
the controversy over USA gymnast Jordan Childs, who most famously
in the Big Event her bronze medal from the floor
exercise that she won last week at the Olympics. Not
to catch you up on it in case you forgot.
Competing in the floor exercise, she was given a fifth

(23:34):
place score. However, the judges failed to correctly compute the
degree of difficulty, so after her routine was over, they
saw her score, they appealed to the judges. The judges realized, yes,
we made a mistake, and the new score was enough
to give her the bronze medal. Hey, awesome, right, they

(23:55):
did it right. She wins the bronze medal. And then
over the weekend the story came out, well, they didn't
get the results the request in in time. You have
to get the request in to appeal someone's score a
minute after they finished their exercise, and it was reported
that they it took a minute four seconds, so four
seconds too long to get this score. So they weren't

(24:18):
gonna change it. The United States went to an arbitration
panel and said, hey, we have evidence. We got it
in forty seven seconds, which is within a minute. The
arbitration panel won't reconsider their decision. So Jordan Chiles finishes
in fifth place and Anna Barbosu gets the bronze medal,
which he first had before Chiles was able to get

(24:39):
up there into third place. And now the first thing
I would say is this because this is just ridiculous,
because this is you talk about the Olympics, the spirit,
it's the best of all of us, it's the best
of what we do and what it means in sportsmanship.
Come on, really, really, you're you're gonna say this was
our mistake.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
We blew it.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
You may have evidence that we got it wrong, but
we're not gonna reconsider it. And she's not winning the
bronze medal, Like, where is that for Olympic? If I'm
Jordan's you know what I say, I go, you can
have this bronze medal. Come come to my house and
take it from me. You come take it from me.
I'm not giving it back to you. I won that
bronze medal. We put in my appeal within the time.

Speaker 2 (25:17):
Not my fault.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
You won't reconsider it. Not my fault you blew it.
I'm keeping this medal. You can come and have it
when you come to my house with a search warrant,
because you know I watch a lot of Oh no,
search warrant. Yeah, let me see your search warrant. I
can have a I can have it here in five
minutes if you know, you come to my house with
a search warrant, and then I'll let you come in.
But it might be too specific, but you can only
get into one backpack that closet.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
No, you can't move any clothing.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
You don't get all these other bronze medals that I
have here. No, no, no, you come to my house
and you take it. Then you can have the bronze
medal because she won it. This is how it goes,
and it's easy for the Olympic Committee and the arbitration
Pedel will say, Okay, it's a bronze medal. This isn't
taking winning a gold away from someone. This is you
win a bronze. You want a Yes, this happened, It
was weird. You both get a bronze medal. Everybody would

(26:03):
be happy and it would be a great positive story
about the Olympics and its impact. I'm glad the United
States is gonna still go and appeal for this. But
I'm Jordan Child's I got no forget it. Come to
my house. See if I give it to you. Come
to my house and we'll take Well. I'm a good
video on my phone of you taking this from me
because you screwed it up. Now, on the plus side,
at least nobody has gone to a podium and said

(26:25):
that hunk of metal, so we at least had that.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
There's still a reverend. We want to give a deserving
gymnast metal.

Speaker 4 (26:32):
Yeah, we're still talking at least with some reverence as
to what they're doing. This does you know, open the
door to the discussion of degree of difficulty and the
assessment thereof routine to routine. What do you think on that? Yeah,
she made it look really easy. I can't be that hard,
you know that kind of thing. So, and the margin
of victory, as we talked about throughout the Olympics for

(26:53):
some of these events, is just so minuscule that, you know,
it doesn't take much to take you out of metal consideration.
So the fact that this needs to go go back
days and days, I say this, you just have we
we have to go back to the to the mat.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
And do one more competition. We're gonna have a we're
gonna have a dance off. And in the background, the
Red Hot Chili Peppers are still playing in Long Beach
for you.

Speaker 4 (27:23):
Yeah, you know music, you know, no, no, no, They're
gonna pick a random song from their catalog.

Speaker 2 (27:29):
You know.

Speaker 1 (27:29):
You know the most insane part about this is that Caliphonic.

Speaker 2 (27:34):
The most insane part of this landed the hands rake
is this.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
Is this is the the the equivalent for you and
I of getting horrendous customer service from a company that
blew something that it's their fault and they won't make
it right to you.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
Like if you order.

Speaker 1 (27:52):
Something for Christmas and they says, yes, we're guaranteed delivery
by December twenty fourth, Okay, great, and the delivery doesn't
get there by December twenty fourth, and the week after
Christmas you call and say, hey.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
You guarantee delivery.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
I don't have it. I want my money back. Well, no,
we don't do that. We're sending the we're sending it out.
It just hasn't gotten me yet.

Speaker 5 (28:09):
No.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
No, you guaranteed delivery and you didn't get it there.
I want my money back. No, I'm sorry, we don't
do that. This is what it's like. It's the same thing.
It's what you and I deal with that that's horrender.
This is your fault.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
I bought it. I bought your product.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
You you promised this and you blew it, and you're
not taking any responsibility, Like the judges blew it the
first time, and now suppose that they won't reconsider the
second evidence. Hey we saw forty seven. No, not gonna
look at it. The Bronze medal stays where it is
with Barboso and Jordan Chiles.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
You finished fifth.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
That's that's such an insane lack of logic, And that's
what that's what makes me boil about this because it's
so it would be so easy to fix.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
Why do you have an appeal process?

Speaker 4 (28:50):
Then right if they can show the fact that it
took that much time to understand that the complaint was filed,
what was that had forty seven seconds? And then again,
by the way, in case you missed it, at fifty
five seconds.

Speaker 1 (29:04):
And right away they said you saw the play by
play in it, because I remember watching it and and
and the play by play in the ass. Oh they're
gonna appeal this because they don't have her degree of
difficulty right, so right away, this wasn't where we waited.

Speaker 2 (29:15):
Oh hey, we're waiting.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
A minute, like I guess you wait for the scores.
But you got to appeal. And it was appealing anyway,
because no matter what, you want the score to be
the highest it can be. So I don't understand how
this was something that did it got in, Oh, it
got in late, and now it's over. Wait wait, wait,
but we have evidence it was forty seven seconds. No, no,
but to be firing at it. But we saw this
in so many competitions. Go back to the soccer tournament
all the way through.

Speaker 4 (29:36):
How many times it was like, yeah, we're gonna get
a vaar check.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
We may not get a vie. No, they're not gonna go.
Are there to be a goal where it'd be like
I think that person was offside? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (29:46):
But you know what, I think a lot of it's
like like the goal we scored, I'm gonna letter the law,
spirit of the law.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
He turns of off sides.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
Maybe sometimes they know the var guy is out for
a bathroom break or going to grab lunch.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
Hey, I'm gonna go grab something. I'm starting.

Speaker 1 (30:01):
Yeah, yah, it's good for five minutes. Oh crap, we
need a review. Uh, we don't really have legitimately.

Speaker 4 (30:07):
There were so many times a tournament and you'd have
the announcers like, yeah, they're gonna have to check that one.

Speaker 2 (30:12):
Oh, he says to play on.

Speaker 4 (30:13):
He's like wait no, And then they finally show you
a half ass replay of it.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
It's like, all right, that doesn't solve anything. I hope
you know this. Then they showed the var guy.

Speaker 1 (30:23):
It's like from a teen movie where the guy is
like leaning over concession stand talking to the really hot girl,
going you know they get me, and I'm in charge
of all the replays. You want to come see the
booth later. I could show you like I can. I
could turn a goal not into a goal. You want
to come hang out with me? We can do Oh
wait what? Oh hey, where have you been? Damn your eyes?

Speaker 6 (30:40):
Man?

Speaker 5 (30:40):
We gotta being.

Speaker 2 (30:41):
Controversy going on. You gotta come back and figure this out.

Speaker 4 (30:44):
But in the basketball games, how many times like, hey,
they should go and review this.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
They're calling for Nah, this all out the other way.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
This is gonna be a big and the producers looking
at them shaking as that go down And it's not
gonna be a review now, No, Julie Fouder, you talk
for a minute.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
Go ahead, give me that stat about free kicks. Tell
us the last time again the United States scored the freak?
Did you see again?

Speaker 4 (31:06):
Did you see in the gold medal game when it's
finally popped up though, and she had the opportunity, She's like,
I get a lot of bad feedback, Like people don't like.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
What I say. You know, I tell you she got
a lot of hate.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
We you know, just really quick before you get to
what's trending, is that, you know a lot of play
by play guys that people are talking about. Oh, you
know what, we'll get to this coming up in a second.
Let's let Kevin Wire tell us what's trending in the
wide world of sports. We know the Braves won one nothing.
You can skip over that, Kevin, go right to the other.

Speaker 4 (31:36):
Oh, yeah, the Braves did win one nothing, breaking up
Blake Snell's no hitter in the seventh inning and route
to doing so. It's actually a pitcher's duel between uh
Blake Snell and Chris Sale for the Atlanta Braves. Sale
went seven innings, struck out twelve all out three hits.
Snell went six and a third eleven strikeouts and two

(31:57):
hits allowed. But it was the Atlanta winning it in
the tenth inning over San Francisco to get the victory.
Elsewhere in Major League Baseballs and pitchers duel in San Diego,
Padres and Pirates were scoreless, but the Padres would get
a run. They would get a second run before Pittsburgh
would add a get on the board, but the Padres

(32:20):
able to hold on in the night to win it
two to one. The Diamondbacks were trailing the Rockies for
much of that contest, but they come from behind to
win it five to four. So don't look now, But
the Dodgers have those teams, two teams nipping at their heels.
But La did get the win tonight, largely thanks to
Mookie Betts coming back.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
To the lineup.

Speaker 4 (32:37):
He'd been out for two months with a broken hand,
but comes back hits a two run home run. So
the way the standings now look in the West, it's
the Dodgers ahead of both the Diamondbacks and the Padres
by three and a half games. In the AL Central,
the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago Cubs had a crazy back
and forth affair, but the Guardians do win it nine

(32:57):
to eight. The Twins able to keep pace as a
beat the Royals earlier today eight three, So out in
the AL Central, it is a three and a half
game lead for the Cleveland Guardians. The Red Sox and
Rangers go to extra innings, Corey Seger with a game
tying home run, but Boston wins it an extras five

(33:19):
to four. Astros over the race six to one, Reads
beat the Cardinals six to one, the White Sox with
a huge victory against the Yankees, pounding New York twelve
to two. Blue Jays beat the Angels four to two,
and in the NFL, Jets pass rusher Hassan Reddick requesting
a trade from the team. So let's the second year

(33:40):
in a row a big acquisition might not play much
snaps for him, of course, after Aaron Rodgers took six
snaps last year before getting hurt. So Reddick trying to
get a trade from the team because he wants a
new contract. However, Joe Douglas's saying that they're gonna find
Reddick if he doesn't show up in accordance with the CBA.

Speaker 2 (33:56):
Back to you, guys, Thank you, k dub The.

Speaker 1 (33:58):
Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon from the Tirac dot
Com Studios. Coming up next, evidence that There's something I'm
really worried about that is still four years away.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
What is it? We'll tell you next, Jason Mike Fox.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
Friend Mike Harmon. We just won the gold medal Olympic
basketball men's and women's men's with a much tougher road
than we thought it was going to be and the
need Steph Curry to bail them out in the performance
of his career to win it on Saturday. And I
know we won and I'm basking in the cas And

(34:45):
I told you Steve Kerr was the best choice, Steve
Kurt Nothing else matters, right.

Speaker 4 (34:48):
Couple of anxious moments for us along the way, we
won the gold medal.

Speaker 1 (34:52):
Just like I'll say the same thing Kate Lee Clark
didn't get it doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
We won the gold medal. No, but that's it. You
got you gotta. We won, but we want to win
with style. Doesn't matter.

Speaker 4 (35:00):
I want to cover the number. They didn't support their
backers minus sixteen.

Speaker 2 (35:04):
And a half.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
Hey, Hey, I told the beginning of the Olympics, I'm
not betting on either basketball team to cover the point spread.
This may be the last time you could make money
in the Olympics. And they had to in the next
four years. That point was gonna be lot.

Speaker 4 (35:15):
Yeah, but when we talked about it on Friday, it's like,
all right here, it is now's the time, and they
still were carelessly throwing the ball away. Now they had
a ton of assists on main field goals and Steph
went insane and everything else. But well, I tell you
a lot of puckering going on.

Speaker 1 (35:32):
I told you before the Olympics, boy, I'm nervous about
twenty twenty eight because boy, by that time, France might
be really good. But that was kind of a tongue
in cheek thing because France was going to be good.
Now I'm just scared out of my mind that we're
gonna lose in Los Angeles the gold medal and France
is gonna win it in four years.

Speaker 2 (35:52):
You can't leave this.

Speaker 4 (35:53):
Let the set sit on your soul for four years, though.
But I just Wenby's, you know, threatening people like I
know everybody needs to watch through his tears. His tears
were daggers falling down his face. Who needs to watch
out for you?

Speaker 2 (36:06):
Everyone?

Speaker 1 (36:07):
Okay, suddenly he's Gary oldwin the professional. But here's the thing.
Right in four years, Wemby's gonna be twenty four. Next
year you'll be six, he'll be twenty four. This French
team already gave us all we can handle. You know
that in Foeba the United States, we struggle because the
rules aren't something that we gravitate towards. It takes a

(36:28):
while to figure out who the right players are. It
takes a while for our coach, whoever it is, whether
Steve curR or someone else, to figure out the right
players to play with each other. That's just the way
it is. And with the emphasis on making threes defending
the entire court, which we still don't do. Yeah, FOBA
basketball is not made for us. So we got to
get there and try to get it together as fast

(36:48):
as we can and out talent people. But this is
what makes me, This is what makes me worry, because yes,
France is gonna be great, and Wemby's gonna be bleeping awesome.
I mean, he'll be the best player in the league
in two years and four years, he'll be far away
the best player in the league.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
Is that.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
Look at all the talent we have on the United
States team. Everything everybody was so good. Look at this team,
Look how deep it is. Who are gonna play where?
And who won the gold medal for us? When it
came down to it, who won the gold medal? Lebron
Curry and Kevin Durant, Booker right at Booker, but the.

Speaker 4 (37:20):
Three, Yeah, he's fourth on the medal the entire Olympics.
Lebron was our best player. Yeah, Steph Curry.

Speaker 2 (37:26):
Steph Curry won the gold medal with his performance in
the last two men.

Speaker 4 (37:29):
He should have been the MVP based on what he
did the final two games, you know, when it really mattered.
But Kevin Durant all along was fantastic, right, especially that
defensive play for I know, he had that big block
that looked like it was going to be a thing,
and then Wemby just puts.

Speaker 2 (37:44):
It in a wingspan. Man, my goodness. These are three guys,
all over the age of thirty five that we had
to rely on to win the gold medal.

Speaker 1 (37:53):
All the talent we have, all the young talent, the
guys that are twenty seven to twenty eight, the guys
in their prime, whether it's Tatum and beat all all
of these players we had, and it was still Lebron
and Steph and Kadi, none of whom are gonna be
around in the next Olympics. They're all gonna be too old.
Maybe the there's a there's an outside chance one of them,
maybe it's Steph, But what's Steph gonna be in four years?

(38:15):
But yeah, but Lebron's like the wolverine, but these are guys.
He's a cyb I'm getting blood from a wolf in
Germany at season's over.

Speaker 2 (38:25):
But more than.

Speaker 1 (38:27):
Likely these guys are not going to be around. These
are the guys that saved us. So suddenly, do you
think that in four years we have the right players,
knowing full well that there's gonna be stars that don't
want to go And they say, I'm not going because
I don't want to end up like embiid or Tatum
and be a DNP And hell, I'm not gonna go through.
I mean he was happy to go along with it, Yeah,

(38:47):
because you got the result. But along the way, how
many anxious moments and conversations. I'd love to see the
phone logs with agents, managers and others and all of
the behind the scenes massaging of egos, which is why
again and Kerr and Spolstra and Tylu were the guys
you needed there. Some stars are not gonna go because
they don't want to risk that. Maybe they don't play,
they don't want that to be on there. And you're

(39:09):
also gonna have stars, maybe some of the same ones,
maybe different ones who we're gonna go. Boy, if we
don't have a star studed team there, we're not gonna
win the gold medal. I'm not gonna be on that team.
I'm not gonna be on the team that didn't win
the gold medal for the first time in six Olympics
and be you were on that team. I don't want
in twenty years people writing stories about Alan Iverson and
all the other guys that were on the silver medal

(39:29):
team in Lamarrow.

Speaker 2 (39:30):
I'm not gonna be that so and that one's here
right here, so it's added. Yeah, so I'm staying home.
Uh yeah, I'm worried.

Speaker 1 (39:39):
And my worry is a ten as to what's gonna
happen in twenty twenty eight because we don't we don't
have the players the old guys were still.

Speaker 2 (39:46):
Relying on or gone, And how many.

Speaker 1 (39:48):
Of the young stars are really gonna want Are we
gonna wind up with a with a B minus level
team of talent going there?

Speaker 4 (39:54):
No, And that's the curiosity of the next couple of years.
You know, you got your Cooper flag, you got some
of these guys that all rise up and maybe they
become the Torch Bears. But it's it's the curiosity of
that recruiting process.

Speaker 2 (40:10):
Hell.

Speaker 4 (40:10):
Joel Embiid said he might go play for Cameroon, so
you know you've got that going as well.

Speaker 2 (40:15):
We're gonna worry about Cameroon in four years.

Speaker 4 (40:17):
But I think the solution is that you we need
the team up. Anthony Edwards needs to team up with
one or two guys, or you just take three of
the Celtics, or or whatever the case is.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
Just take the Nicks.

Speaker 1 (40:29):
Just take the Nicks four years. Those guys are gonna
be burnt out. No, dude, Tims would be great. These
guys play all forty minutes of every game.

Speaker 4 (40:35):
We can get past the nonsense of hey eh, he
cut the wrong way because they have no communication.

Speaker 1 (40:41):
A lot of threes. They'll defend the three. No, you
send the Nicks in four years, what do you do?

Speaker 2 (40:45):
You there?

Speaker 4 (40:46):
You go unless Tims is coaching. Oh of course Tims coach. Yeah,
and it all goes to hell.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
Coming up next, we got a big story out of
the NFL.

Speaker 1 (40:53):
It's time to laugh at one team. We usually spend
a lot of time laughing at Fox
