Speaker 1 (00:27):
Yeah, haven't been playing Narco much the last few days,
that's for sure. Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon, jo you ran into
a team at the wrong time Live at the Tirac
dot Com studios diirect dot com. I hope you get there.
An unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection,
(00:48):
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire rack dot com
is the way tire buying should be. Are you just
playing this at an inordately loud level? What I mean?
Speaker 3 (01:01):
I know sometimes we come in and the headsets are
cranked up a little bit loud. I fear for the
hearing of a lot of our colleagues here at Fox
Sports Radio, like one of that.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
One just felt a little loud. I feel like one
of those singers whenever they don't do well in public,
they go well, I couldn't hear myself in the feedback
the back of the record, I couldn't. There was no
mixed minus. I couldn't hear, so I didn't sound very well.
I didn't. I didn't. I did something so I didn't
know what it was. I couldn't hear myself. It's a
whole thing. Was that a whole hearing test thing that
he was trying to do? It might have been. And
the louder I made it in my headphones, the louder
(01:31):
it got. I don't know if people even understand what
was even said. Tight shirt, I'm just gonna play this
music really loud. It's your team loud noises, all.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Right, Well, I was trying to drown out booze and
the four letter words being shouted at your squad.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Oh well, we have had tonight now the return of
two big things, the NFL for week two of the preseason,
sure and the digging the wnbab and back then.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
Yeah tomorrow, buddy, we get the EPL during the day.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
Two lots of stuff. So it's returning now the Olympics. Okay,
go bang it back now. But let's start with the
NFL game. The Eagles go for too late, yeah, convert
and beat the Patriots fourteen thirteen. Two players are getting
a lot of attention more than any other tonight, Drake
May and Kenny Pickett. And first of all, let's dismiss
(02:28):
Kenny Picket before you get into the big tick. Kenny Pickett.
This was a typical Kenny Pickett preseason game. Right. He
was like nine out of eleven throwing the football for
like forty yards. He got sacked four times, and it
was hey, maybe Kenny Pickett can turn into something. If
if no check, Kenny Pickett's check. No, he's not asking
(02:48):
for a check. Check, turn back to the ball. I mean, look,
this is Kenny Pickett. Okay, this if you really think that,
if you're in Philadelphia and you go, man, you know
Sirianni and Jalen Hurts can't get it, get it together.
If they can't get together, if they could, bench, Jalen
will be fine. We'll play Kenny Pickett. I watched him
(03:09):
in Pittsburgh and they one game. Yeah, this is what
it's gonna look like if you play Kenny Pickett. If
you have to play Kenny Pickett. That's why I always
love the teams get that reality check of how good
is our starting quarterback? Really when they don't play in
the preseason and you look at your backup and you go, yeesh, okay,
I take back what I said. I understand. I get
it now. I understand. It's okay. It's okay.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
You sell a little bit harder on your your starter,
there's no question about it. But in the background, you're
still wondering what's left of your squad as a whole, because,
let's face it, there's it's only week two. Yeah, a
lot of these players, they're still saying there's gonna be
a bunch of starters playing again.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
Believe it when we see it over the course of
the next couple of days. But it's been pretty sloppy
and a lot of dink and dunk passes, right because
you go back and watch this game tonight, six of
eleven for.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Forty seven yards for Drake May. Yeah he threw a
nice little flat pass.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Sure, sure, but again, quarterbacks have like the like in
the movies, the what was it in Running Man when
when Schwarzenegger had the Colorado If you run past a
certain level shock. Yeah, it explodes in I think that's
what happens if quarterbacks throw at more than ten yards.
If you throw this more than ten yards, you're gonna
get that shock you get No, no, no, no. I
(04:25):
saw it in Running Man. The guys had exploded when
he ran. Now, I don't want that. I don't want
that at all. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
No, we need to keep it short and simple, long
protracted drives. That's really what we're working here and operating to. Yeah,
the long off the night for they did have a
twenty three yard game to Hasty, otherwise you're looking at
thirteen twelve whatever. On the other side, there was one
pass that went for twenty eight yards.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
That's good. Six passes in double you know, double digit,
that's that's good. But all in all, not aesthetically pleasing. No, no,
and not just because it was fourteen thirteen. Have a
hell of a lot of action between the twenties. That
just doesn't come to scoring drives. This is just bad. Now,
there's a bigger take here other than you know, the
(05:08):
Eagles have to understand, Okay, if if somebody's got to
go between Sirianni and Hurts, it's gonna be Sirian. Yeah, okay,
I don't think Jalen. But all four quarterbacks for New
England played tonight, right, Drake May played ran for a touchdown.
Very nice. Oh yeah, no, did not throw the ball
all that great. Bailly's at he played, Joe Milton played
(05:30):
presume starter. Jacoby Brissett played the four of them. We're
fourteen out of twenty nine for ninety yards. Yeah, okay,
the New England Patriots. You ready for ninety yards and
four quarters of play? Wait are you gonna say you
have some bold proclamation the New England Patriots. This is
this is where, this is where, this is where. Just understand,
(05:52):
this is where we're at. They are on a list
of teams that only have one thing wrong with them
one dingy. Yes, you can dismiss him. You don't have
to go position by position, that position group. No, no, no, no,
the house wrong are they at linebackers?
Speaker 3 (06:07):
You're just lumping the entire squad together in one fell swoop.
There are coming to an assessment.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
There are five teams right now that I say, you
know what, They all are falling the category of just
having one thing wrong with them. You're going for a
full Bundy five I'll tell you the other four are.
But but deal with the Patriots first. Here, I want
a five count. Give me the five Well, let's go.
But there's only what's the comic? Only one thing? Five count? Okay,
(06:34):
very good, all right, very good? Is he retired or
is he still I don't know what he's doing, tight
shirt or Frances Well, you pick one, no, Francis, because
I I'm talking about how the end of the like
everybody's moving stations in New York City and okay, so
you know he's talking about that. No, but there's look,
I mean, it's got job that it could be. It
could be good news because you think, okay, well you
(06:54):
know the Patriots, well, we don't have a lot of
playmakers on either side of the ball. We're starting over
in a rookie head cover. You don't know if this
rookie quarterback is going to be good. But I'm gonna say, hey,
there's only one thing wrong. One thing's gonna hold them
back toe not just what one thing wrong that if
you fix that, everything will be fine. The only thing
you have to fix.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
If you're the Patriots, well, I don't know normal football talk.
You just say, well, you know if they can get
the quarterback.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Right now, that's true. No, that is true. That is true.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
But in this case it's even more elemental than it is.
It's actually I just I can read your eyes.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
And if and if you, if they fix this thing,
everything will be all right with them. There's only one
thing wrong. And now the Patriots go on this list
of teams, five teams, one thing wrong with them. Okay,
that's it. Now ask me what it is?
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Now, what is that one thing that's gonna hold them
back from being successful in twenty twenty four?
Speaker 1 (07:43):
They stink? That's all. Okay, So they're they're a top
the leaderboard. Stink. That's what it is. The Patriots should
be competing for the number one pick next year. That's
how bad they got. True, that's the lack of talent
they have on it. They're over under on was four
and a half. It's it's gonna be less than that.
I thought, Wow, they're gonna pull off a win tonight
(08:04):
because they were up thirteen to six for the most part.
And I said, huh, they're gonna wind up win more
games in the preseason the regular season. But now they're
still only one in one. So that I but look,
they don't have the look. Ramandre Stevenson is a terrific
running back light. They signed him for for a nice
a nice deal for him, But there's nobody that you
can say, all right, this is what we're really excited
(08:24):
about this year. They're going to be terrible. You trade
one of your best players three weeks before the regular
season starts. I get it, right, Matthew Jude, I get it.
He's thirty two. You want to get some form. But
when you are trading one of your best players, this tells, hey,
you know what, this season we're gonna stink. Because if
we were gonna be any good, we would have wound
up keeping him, figuring something else out. We would have
done well. I bet that's what happened. I you talked,
(08:45):
never made any sense, no talk for the Patriots. It
was good for Brandon. I right.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
Eventually, Kendrick Nolan is going to find his way to
another team. He will get delt because he can actually play.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Now. While I say this, remember well, last week we
talked about this. I said this was I said good
things about the Patriots. You did good. They didn't make
that moves. It was good, all right. Four and a
half This is one of the worst teams in the NFL.
Everybody in the division is better than they are. I
don't know how they're going to win. I don't know
who's going to be their quarterback, because all the quarterbacks
(09:18):
look like boy, they're in trouble. Like Jacoby Brissett looks terrible.
And I get it. Yes, he's one game, he's been
in the league a while, but you're really gonna try
it out Jacoby Brissett, which means, okay, we don't try
out Jacoby Brissett. We can't start Bailey's appy. We're gonna
start Drake May Is. Drake May gonna be ready, of
course not. He's got no reps, no nothing. The Patriots
are gonna stink. They should be. We should be down
to them at the end of the season for the
(09:39):
number one draft pick next year in the draft. They
picked third this year with their quarterback, they'll pick first
next year. They'll take Shador Sanders and they'll spin off
Drake may somewhere else. That's how it's gonna go. Yeah,
and all the all the good things we talked up
Joe Milton a week ago, he just had no pocket
presence whatsoever.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
Yeah, it was just terrible, awful. Yes, they're the worst start.
We got four other teams. There's only there's only one
thing wrong with them, one thing wrong wrong.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
They stink. That's all the Raiders, Okay, the Giants, the Saints,
and the Cardinals. One of those teams, Cardinals, of course, Well,
how's it gonna go for the car Kyler Murray is
gonna play. He's not gonna quite play to the level
they expect him to play at. He's probably gonna get
hurt at some point. Everything's gonna go south fast. This
(10:30):
is the Arizona Car. I actually I am actually on
the other side of them. One of them breaks properly.
One of those five teams you forgot, the Broncos. I
think the Broncos will be a little bit better. I
think they'll be a little bit better because Sean Payton,
outside of Russell Wilson, has made it work with every
quarterback that he's had, and the Broncos made some moves
in the off season they I think a little bit
of addition by subtraction, I think the Broncos will be
(10:52):
okay because that division is not going to be great
like the Raiders stink. Who knows When Justin Herbert is
gonna come, the Charge will be on this list. Stick. Yeah,
if I thought Justin Hurt was gonna be out a
long time, the Charges will be on this list. But
right now, Herbert's meaning to come back early part of
the season, so that they're they're at eight and a
half for their win total, but the division's turn. So
in terms of win totals is Vegas and Sader Patriots
(11:14):
are worse. And then you got the Broncos and Panthers
together as the next two teams. See.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
I like the Panthers a little bit more. I believe
in a little bit more like canalisaid. I think they
brought in a few guys. Yeah, they're gonna be interesting
to get gets past the little injury woes. They've got
a receiving corps. I think they in that division and
it's not yet they got dision. Then you have the Titans,
who I'm more bullish on there at so I think
they'll be fine as well.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Commanders at six and a half. Jayden Daniels is good.
He's gonna wind up win some games. Man, He's gonna
wind up. When you have the Raiders and Giants, they
both stink and then your your guy that we've talked
about a lot this week, Sam Darnold, along with the Saints, Seahawks, Buccaneers,
and Cardinals all at seven and a half. I lef
(12:00):
the Vikings off because I felt like I gave them
a little too much this week. Like it's like, okay,
you know what I gotta I got to back off.
But some folks said we thought they were Super bowlted contenders.
They would be on the list if I wasn't so
hard on them the last couple of days. I'm just
I'm just giving them a break.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
I'm just giving the break because you you were kicking
them like you were at.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
Kings. No no, no, no, no, but one of these
five from there. Because all of these teams are spinning
their wheels slash starting over. The Patriots are completely starting over.
They have hardly any talent. The Giants are spinning their
wheels until next year. Daniel Jones isn't any good. You
saw what happen after they fell off a year ago.
The Saints are going to be terrible, Okay, the same.
This is a team and I'm like, wow, they might
(12:43):
wind up really being the team when it comes down
to it. At the end, they can wind up drafting
number one. Yeah, what I keep telling you they should
trade Derek Carr back to the Raiders straight Derek Carr,
the Vikings, I could do that to you. But the
but the Saints. You think about the excitement level coming
into this season, where is it after last year? It's
not at a high level. Derek Carr is not great.
(13:03):
They didn't fix the running game at all. This is
a bad team. One of these teams will be picking
first overall. Of all those teams, one team I could
see winning five or six and getting out of there.
I could give you Arizona on that, I'll give you
of the five teams, I say, hey, who's the least
likely to be picking first, I'll give you Arizona. But Vegas, Giants, Saints,
(13:23):
and Patriots all seasons that can go south really early.
And if they go south, forget it. They don't find
their way back out out of the hole like Baine. Now,
after all of that, no getting out of the hole,
as mister warning. The reason that they're all on your
list of the worst five teams in the NFL. Again,
for those that might have missed it, only one reason. Reason,
one reason? Ask me why just give me a reason
(13:45):
they stink just.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
A little bit.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
That's all you need. I'm gonna start singing the whole
ping song. That is all you need. That's all you need.
But Wow, the Patriots right now, Patriots raiders, they might
be my page. Oh see Saints, No, you gotta be
cared for one. I gotta be strong. Patriots are my
leader right now for picking first overall, my leader.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
Rock Vegas has Vegas. I think that has that one right. Yeah,
and that four and a half. That might be a
little that might be a little optimistic exit out about
a Fresca exit. Swalling down the Jason Smith Show with

Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon from the Tyraq dot com Studios. Congratulations
to the Eagles beating the Patriots Week two of the
NFL preseason. Off to a start, a start, Well, that's good.
I think it's right, Wednesad, Congratulations the Eagles win. It's
(16:18):
off to a start. Congratulations on a job done. Right now, Look,
this was not just the return of the NFL tonight.
And I think many people are gonna hear what I'm
gonna say. They're gonna go, yeah, you know, you're right.
If you told me a year ago that I'd be
saying at this time, Hey, I really missed the WNBA
(16:38):
went they're playing, I'd have told you, wait what, But
that's exactly how I felt, all right, Like I missed
the WNBA, I really did. I missed the drama, I missed,
you know, all the daily conversation. This has been fun.
It has been a fun season so far. Whether you
are loving Caitlin Clark, loving the rivalry with her and
Angel Reese, loving that she didn't make the Olympic team,
(17:01):
whatever it is, there's been so much fun stuff and
the games are great on her world tour.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
For me, I add the collectibles industry to it because
they've moved the needle as a group, this rookie class
and from the WNBA obviously led by Clark putting up
some ridiculous numbers and chases in the products that have
been released.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
You know, here's how I felt like for the WNBA.
When I said, oh, great, they're coming back, I kind
of felt like I do like after I watch a
really good first season of a show and the second
season is coming up pretty soon? How fast? How fast
that second season? That's like, that's it's you know, it's
not like a season that comes out and I watch
it and then they go, hey, we're renewed for the
second season. But like a season, like a show that
(17:43):
someone says to me, hey, you should check this show out. Okay, cool,
it came out like a few months ago. I didn't
see it, and then I watch it. When I finished,
I go, wow, that's great. I can't wait when season two.
Oh season two is in like a couple of months.
Oh awesome. Like that's how that's where I was. I
feel like, Okay, you know season one and now I'm
getting season two of the show. It's that's that's how
excited it is. It's a nice we're back now. Yeah.
(18:04):
Now they play basically every night. Yeah we're gonna see
a sprint here yeah, but let's just say that, Let's
be honest here, there's a difference in WNBA between Caitlin
Clark Knights and non Caitlin Clark Knights. You can sit
here and and and and try to say, oh, the
entire rookie class, and I think legally you have to
say Angel Reese's name whenever you mentioned Caitlin Clark's name
(18:26):
for some ridiculous reason, even though the the popularity difference
between the two of them is like the Grand Canyon.
Uh yeah, Angel Reese is interesting. She's a star. Maybe
she's the second most popular star on the WNBA. Caitlin
Clark is bigger than everybody. There's a difference. It's fun
when Caitlyn Clark plays. More people get to the TVs,
more people are invested in what's going on, talk about
(18:47):
the games after. But it's great for the entire league.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
Right.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
But this is where we're at, and this is what
you've seen with no WNBA for the last month. And
here the US Olympic team goes to the goes to
the gold medal game and they barely hold off. And
you could see that as as a tournament went on. Yes,
the numbers were pretty good watching, but not quite what
you thought they would be, not what they would be
if they had Caitlin Clark on the team. So now
(19:10):
everybody is coming back to the whether you like it
or not, is coming back to the reality of this
is Caitlyn Clark's league. It's Caitlyn Clark's league, and other
players can be star as all this, but there's a difference.
I'm sorry, I don't feel like I have to say
Angel Reese's name every time Caitlyn Clark, but there's a difference.
Tomorrow night, when the Fever get back out of it, Hey,
Caitlin Clark, it's gonna be a big deal, front page headline. Tonight,
(19:31):
the Sky played, Angeli's played. She had a bad night,
four to fourteen from the flot She had a lot
of rebounds, fifteen rebounds, maybe all off her own offensive missus.
We'd have to go back and check the tipe. But
while it's exciting there back tonight, it's just a level
of different. It's just a different level when Caitlyn Clark plays,
because she's the show. And the fact that everybody wants
to continue to fight over the popularity and who deserves
(19:54):
it's like we should be done with this, like this
is what I mean. We should be coming back to
the league and everybody should come back to it after
a break and after the Olympics and go, okay, we
kind of understand now it's Caitlin's league. We kind of
understand she's the one that's brought this, whether kicking and
screaming wherever we are, we have to understand this is
her thing.
Speaker 3 (20:10):
No, I get that, and I agree with you wholeheartedly.
Now I'll speak on behalf of the industry as a whole.
Is that you don't want to put out that it's
propped up by one person because that means one injury
or a hey, I'm done with this. I'm tired of
you people. And the league has its problems thereafter, Right,
(20:31):
So what do you do? You grab on several other stars.
It takes nothing away from the stardom and the greatness
of Agia Wilson and some of the other players there.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
But certainly, you know, Angel Reese has her fan base
and it is strong. But as you said, there's the
chasm between casual Clark because you're coming in for Clark
one way or another. Right, You're either wanting to see
your shoot four for fourteen, see what I did there?
Or you're wanting her to go off and score forty. Right,
(21:03):
there's not a lot of in between on it if
you're paying attention to the WNBA, Whereas I don't know
that the casual is necessarily turning in for the aesthetics
of another rebound off a long miss, you know what
I mean, like playmaking, you know, the assists and long
range shooting of Clark.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
Ah that wins. But all in I think as a league,
and certainly to the partners, because that's where a lot
of the uh, a lot of the noise, as you
might describe it comes from, is that you know, they
kind of are. They have to talk about the other,
the other players. They're a partner.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
They can't just say our league.
Speaker 3 (21:43):
Hey, it's back come Bay to watch the game, Taylen
Clark's in the middle one, but watch the other two
games to please No, you gotta build it up. Hey,
here's the rivalry in the early game, here's the one
in the middle, and here's where you can find them
on TV or streaming. So what you're saying is the
best idea would be, oh, hey, we'll give you the
package to watch Caitlin Clark's games, but you have to
(22:04):
watch the game before it, or you can't watch that
second other is that I mean local blackouts. It's an
extension of the old MLB rule.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
You got to watch the Liberty and the Sparks right now,
which I think the Liberty is winning by one hundred.
We watched the beginning of that game.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
We're having a cup of coffee and chat before the
show and like just laughing at what we were seeing.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
The Liberty is beating the Sparks seventy four to forty
right now. Oh, you can watch Caitlin in the Fever
of Our Night, but you have to watch Liberty and Sparks.
I gotta watch it all the way to the end.
This game was like twenty two to five. You gotta
watch it all the way. When wait, blackout restrictions. I
don't live in Indiana. I'm fine.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
It's like no, no, no, no, she's a national figure, national blackout.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Blackout. You have to watch at least one other game
that week, and you can watch Caitlin Clark's games and you.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
Get credit, like like you're taking a test. You've got
to have a camera on you.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (22:55):
No, And it's like, yeah, but you show like our
kids when they take a test remotely, they've got to
have the camera on. There's no other sound, nobody talks
to them. All of that gets verified the same thing.
Here you are in a you know, intently staring into
the screen. Yeah, nowhere the camera is now embedded in
the middle of your viewing.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
No.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
No, And it's like you know when we do compliance
training here at Fox, like and everybody does compliance training
where once a year we go through online training of
here's what to do in the event of an earthquake,
Here's what to do if we just did that, the
package gets delivered, Here's what to do, Here's about radio
payola and plugola and how what to do and what
not to do. Here's sexual harassment in the workplace, all
(23:34):
the things we have to do. And it used to
be a lot.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
Learn about preventing sexual harassment in the work Y just
want to make sure that.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
Yeah, yes, so it used to be a long time
ago that and I'm going back like fifteen twenty years
where you have to walk click on a module and
you could click on it and then you could click
right off it and go to the quiz and take
the quiz on what to do and if you you know,
if you're a good person, you can understand what you
understand to do. But now you can right now, you
(24:04):
have to watch the entire video before you take the
quiz and finish that module. So that's kind of what
it would have to be for the WNBA's where like, oh, no,
you can't just click on it and and then go
off and say, oh, I watched the game. No, no,
you gotta click we gotta we gotta see that you
spent that that television was on in your house. Oh,
we don't care if you watch the game as long
as it's on TV. That'sn'tally care about. Maybe something like that.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
For Katelyn, I kind of dig that you gotta have
a run time proof that you watched. I mean, you
want to talk about ratings, ratings that are truthful and
not estimated. Everybody's got a ratings box and it's got
a giant W on there that you watched your fifteen
minutes and everybody does the W with their fingers. You
have to do the dubcause the other thing is that
(24:47):
you have the old Hey, you're gonna have to be
on the bicycle for the next fifteen minutes if you
want some electricity to watch your television.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
Also, it's like it's Gilligan's Island and you gotta be
a professor is powering it? Have you not seen one
of those using coconuts to get the transit the radio?
I saw that. We saw that in an airport coming back.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
Where the hell were we It was in Canada, Canada,
and we were coming back from Europe. We had to
stop over in Canada and they actually had one of
those pedal to charge your phone.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
Oh okay, all right, so you would pedal to charge
your phone. See, in most airports in the United States,
you sit down and just plug it into the wall. No, no,
there were plenty of those two. But this was with
if you wanted to use your time to do something,
you know, productive, So I could work out and charge
my phone. Oh see, I'm picking build up a good lather.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
I am before you get on a plane front of
the four hours to get another passengers smelling so beautiful.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
I'm just picking charging my phone. I think that's probably wise. Yeah,
what do you want to sit there? Do?
Speaker 4 (25:46):
No?
Speaker 1 (25:47):
Or would I rather charge my phone and surf on
my phone?
Speaker 5 (25:49):
No?
Speaker 1 (25:49):
At this point we're not doing in your own well,
I mean you can still you know, surf right, charge
my phone or go get a sandwich. I could go
do that.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
Watch a couple of teenagers they were looking for a
place to charge and in that particular area we had
the three outlets between my daughters and I and they
looked and one of them goes, oh, we could charge here,
And then they realized they were gonna have to peddle,
and one of them just started cursing, and the bob
was like, I'm sorry, sorry, I'm like, hey, what are
you gonna do? I'll sell you my charger, my charging
(26:16):
point right here. You can borrow this for fifteen minutes
for a price.
Speaker 1 (26:20):
So yeah, so tomorrow we get the fever. They come back.
I got a fever. I had them only prescription as well. Uh,
and it's on ion, so you know they're gonna be
on and they're playing the Mercury. It's gonna be fun.
Look does that go straight into a criminal mind something
I believe, Michael went or your criminal intent? Maybe maybe
it's a fact about criminal minds? Criminal intent? Well, is
(26:40):
it a paramount or a peak? Oh well they're merging,
aren't that they're merging. No, they're merging. Now it's gonna
be Mount It's just everything, it's gonna be Mount Pee.
So you thought I was gonna say the other thing,
I really, are you not gonna say the other thing
with Paramount pecan other? Wayne Well, I said, Mount Peete.
(27:01):
See made the way.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
You painted a beautiful picture for the listening audience out
there across our vast United States and globally on the
iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
And I'll tell you I know that she had been
living her best life. We saw her all during the Olympics. Oh,
she's at the Yankee game. She's throwing out the first pitch.
She's hanging out with Aaron Judge. She's at the Indiana
State Fair, she's dedicating basketball courts other places. She's on
the beach, she's at the ocean, she's at a country
music concert, hanging out. This is gonna be the Caitlyn
Clark Get Out of My Way tour for the back
(27:31):
half of this WNBA season. All Right, you have a
lot of stars that are gonna need a little bit
of time right going to Paris, winning coming back. You
talk about twelve of the best players in the world.
But this is Caitlyn Clark after a month away and
an absolute month that she needed, going from an entire
year of college basketball with an eight hour break and
then playing her first game for the Fever. This is
(27:51):
gonna be the Caitlyn Clark. Now, eat my dust. You
watched now and I think I was good? Now you
thought I was good before. Watch what I I've had
that break? You see the jump that I'm gonna have.
Watch out you think Angel Reese is gonna win Rookie
of the Year. Okay, yeah, I know you're just making
that up because you want to get clicks by making
up that she can actually beat me for Rookie of
the Year. Okay, that's great. Watch the last month of
(28:13):
the season. Watch what I do the last month?
Speaker 3 (28:15):
Well, we talked a lot about the opening schedule and
what the Fever had done. And then with more time
and more cohesion and practices together, the assists rate went up,
the turnover rate went down. Her teammates were now knowing
to expect, you know, the bounce pass or some of
(28:35):
the slight of hand that she's capable of. So that
plus some extra workouts, some extra time together during this
month in between all of her World Tour. I think
it would be absolutely huge. You can't wait to see
it tomorrow night.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
Again, Grant's that difference between Caitlyn Knights and non Kaitlyn Knights.
Is it a Kaitlyn Knight. No, it's not a Kitlyn Knight. Okay,
that there's a I'm sorry, but there is. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (28:59):
I tell you that the sky lost by twenty Yeah,
yeah they did. They're gonna be out here on Saturday, though.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
Are you gonna go, buddy?
Speaker 2 (29:05):
No?
Speaker 1 (29:05):
I don't think so. Why not?
Speaker 3 (29:07):
My daughters can't go? You can still go. I think
it would be a little weird. Why just I don't
know what the optics be a fit? You always talk
about optics.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
You don't have to get down near the court and
and and and wear leggings or anything like. You know, Hey, Angel,
look I'm wearing the leggings on one leg and not
let you could just go to the team yelling hey Barbie,
you could just get nod. She respond no, No, here's
what you do. You go and you go, Hey, I
got all these cards I just got Can you sign
so I can sell? Can you sign?
Speaker 4 (29:35):
No?
Speaker 1 (29:35):
No, there's nothing about selling. I can only get a collection.
I got memorabilia for all you get you all sign
this please, Hey Camilla, I got for you too, Okay,
can you sign these? Becomes big big fan, big fan,
like like like Angel Rees makes it makes a shot
if she does, and then she goes back up the
court and you just hand the card out for her
to sign it and she saw.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
You know, you can fold it over so it protects
the cards and it tonight display it. It's got a
spot to hold your pen.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
Okay, the in game autograph, I think you could you
could make that a reality on Saturday. Well, they had
some in game.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
Some memorabilia cards, so Bobby Waiting, a couple other big
time collectors. Okay, uh, they actually had cards in the
back pockets like good games to start the season. So
they're all in terrible shape. But then they sent them
in to get authenticated as you know, literally game war cards.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
All right, see this is the thing. Get ready for Saturday,
Adam big Dale again. Remember Caitlyn Knight's not you know
you're going to the game. She's not playing Barbie. It's not. Okay,
very good, you got you got it going there. You
gotta go. Yeah, let's go exit out about a fresco
exit swollen down the Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike harmon Time Now to find out what's trending
in the wide world of sports. From a man who
does stats for the Chargers every week during the season.
(30:51):
He is also next up to play quarterback. If something
happens to East and South, it is Steve de Sager,
except I'm currently in a walking boot.
Speaker 5 (31:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
I don't think that's I don't think that's a that's
a thing. They would say, Okay, yeah, that's good, you're good.
You'll still be fine.
Speaker 5 (31:05):
Just for the record, quarterback Justin Herbert did take off
the walking boot for his work in the weight room today.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
Can you get me that walking boot memor of collector?
Can you get him to sign that walking boot and
then he can sell it? Yeah, it'd be great. I
put it on my wall.
Speaker 5 (31:19):
As you were talking about WNBA, they're TV rating so
far this year. As the league resumes its season tonight,
they've had eighteen different events this year that have topped
one million viewers. Caitlin Clark has been part of sixteen
of the eighteen Here You Go Enough set. The game
in Chicago was a blowout tonight in Chicago, Sky were
(31:40):
beating eighty five sixty five by Phoenix. Angel Reads four
or fourteen shooting from the floor in her eleven points
and fifteen rebounds for Phoenix. Britney Grinder ten of twelve
shooting for twenty three points went at home for Minnesota
seventy nine sixty eight over Washington, and the New York
lead at LA is now eighty two forty five through
(32:00):
three quarters.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
Yeah, but LA is a fourth quarter team. Just watch out,
watch out.
Speaker 6 (32:06):
I don't even know what that means, sir, quarter team
and you're down by more than thirty five. Wait, just wait,
and it's ten point ten minute quarters one NFL exhibition tonight,
the Eagles got a late touchdown and two point conversion
to wind up winning fourteen thirteen.
Speaker 5 (32:22):
At New England. No NFL games tomorrow. Most teams will
play this Saturday this Sunday night on Fox TV New
Orleans at San Francisco. The two teams did not hold
joint practices this week because the forty nine ers are
low on players. By the way, NFL clubs have to
reduce their rosters to fifty three players by August twenty
seventh after the three preseason games and then the waiver
(32:44):
claims by the next day. Bill's linebacker Matt Mulatto will
miss at least a few months with the torn biceps
he was hurt on Tuesday. Miss most of last year
with a broken leg. Buffalo released wide receiver Chase Claypool
from ir with an injury settlement. Quarterback Russell Wilson will
make his Steelers preseason debut Saturday night against the Bills.
The team's held a joint practice today. Wilson is coming
(33:05):
back from a calf injury. He split first team reps
today with Justin Fields. The Steelers said all who are
healthy will play Saturday. Atlanta signed free agent safety Justin
Simmons to MLB action. The late game is on FS
one and it is still twins to two at Texas.
Top of the ninth Philadelphia beat Washington thirteen to three.
Weston Wilson of the Phillies hit for the cycle. Baltimore's
(33:28):
tied for first in the Al East with the Yankees
after Baltimore beat Boston five to one. Milwaukee with three
runs bottom of the eighth down the Dodgers six to
four today, but Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich will have season
ending back surgery. Tomorrow's out for the year. Detroit and
San Francisco won today, and so did the Oakland A's,
who were down five to nothing at the Mats after
(33:48):
three innings, beat him seven to six. Jose Quintana a
lot of grand slam in the four saved to Mason
Miller with two scoreless innings. Apparently, this game, at three
hours forty five minutes in New York time, the longest
regular season nine inning games since they went to the
pitch clock.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
Oh wow, there were.
Speaker 5 (34:05):
Multiple mets at bets with at least ten pitches today.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
Oh He's manager Markottze said, Oh yeah, it felt like
it was the longest game since that. Not one of
those games where oh, you don't know, no, No, it
was a throwback. It was long. It was long, like
the game like it's the fifth inning and I'm looking
going this game started like over two hours ago, my goodness,
and we're gonna lose. We're up five to nothing, We're
gonna lose.
Speaker 5 (34:28):
And I was right and still shorter than all previous
Yankees Red Sox.
Speaker 1 (34:32):
Yes, every single one, everything one. Thank you Steven. The
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike carmon Live
from the Tirack dot Com Studios. So the NFL is
back for week two, WNBA is back. Could Tom Brady
be following? That's next right here, Jason and Mike Fox.
Speaker 2 (34:49):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (34:56):
At least we get the song out of the way early.
You know, it's like that question you asked me last night.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
If you knew the arm had to come off in
three weeks now, even if it was at five percent,
would you rather have the arm or just be done
with it?
Speaker 4 (35:09):
Now?
Speaker 1 (35:10):
Here's your version of Every damn Night The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Carmen Love from the Tirech dot Com Studios.
So so far this hour, the return of the NFL,
week two of the preseason, return of the WNBA, and
maybe now the return of Tom Brady. Oh, let's go Brady,
(35:31):
who was set to spend all year this year in
the Fox Booth and analyze games. Everybody looking forward to
seeing what it's like in the regular season from Brady Well.
Brady also spent some time spent about three days in
Paris for the Olympics. You saw him and his dart
a vivia the gymnastics. It was, you know, kind of fun.
And he put out a video log of the time
he spent there, like, here's a nice day. He put
(35:51):
it out on YouTube. Here's what I did. Three days
of stuff that I did here And here's nine seconds
of audio that are getting a lot of play today
because this is Brady on a yacht some sort of
see pleasure cruise, use me vessel. Uh and he is
(36:15):
and he is asked about staying in shape and and
and throwing others that I just wanted to make. It's
it's a it was a pleasure cruise, a big fatain
my pleasure whatever. It was having fun on the water.
And uh So he's doing an interview and he's asked about, hey,
you know, staying in shape and everything else and football
wise and and all the things you keep doing to
(36:36):
stay healthy. And here's Brady's reason why he was doing
all that stuff. What cacop No, you know, Tyson, You
just take what I say and you twist it and
you move it and you burn it and you twist
it and you put This is Tom Brady talking about
(36:58):
why he stays in shape and does what he does
even though he is retired. We think from the NFL.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
I just want to.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
Make sure all those young bucks in the NFL know
that if I still wanted to come out of retirement,
all the way out, no way out, way out, they
still got somewer deals. Just want to make sure all
the young bucks know that if I want to come
out of retirement, they still got something to deal with.
Two big things coming off of this. Number one. I
(37:30):
always thought, you know, Brady's going to be like Kobe
in which he's going to go from the absolute unbelievable
competitor that he was to finding something that's going to
fulfill him when he leaves the game. Because competition wise,
Kobe was done. He went started a lot of stuff
with women's basketball, opening the momb Academy, all these different things.
He's an Oscar winner. Kobe started doing a lot of things,
(37:52):
and he had kind of a seamless transition. I never
thought I'd say this about Brady because I thought, well,
the guy's a business when you see what he does
with TV twelve. But now at the point where I go,
he's struggling. Man, Oh yeah, he's gonna struggle. There's other
players that, like, hey, I never could find that level
of competition and be satisfied by it, right, like Michael Jordan,
guy like Peyton Manning satisfied with what he did during
(38:14):
his career. Now you see what he's doing. But every
time every few months, Brady's sitting there throwing out there,
I could come back, I could still play. Oh I
can still do it. Why why, like he's holy? Is
he holding on to the fact that he wants to
be like Roger Clemens at the end of his career.
I don't mean like suddenly he's got stuff in a suitcase,
but like Roger Clemens at the end of his career
when he was over forty playing for the Yankees, he
(38:36):
wanted to only pitch the last half of the season
if the Yankees were in contention. I want to sit
back and do nothing, hang out with my kids, and
then July, August, September, and then and win the World Series. Right,
Like that's what was was Clement's doing. Like is this
what Brady is doing saying, Hey, just so you know
you come back, you got something to deal with, because
I will be that guy that if November comes and
(39:00):
the Steelers are eleven and two and both their quarterbacks
get hurt or the Bills or whoever it is or what. Hey,
and you need a quarterback. Guess what. I can come
back and play for five or six weeks and take
it to the super Bowl. I give you one more
chance at a ring. Like. That's where kind of I
feel what he wants to keep out there. He doesn't
want to come back and play a whole season, doesn't
want that anymore. He wants to come back and say, Hey,
(39:22):
I get myself into shape and if there's an injury,
I can play the last six seven weeks of the
season into the playoffs. Like that's what I want to do.
So I sit here and go He's struggling with the
retirement and moving in the next phase of his life.
Well at the same time, Hey, I want to keep
it open. That's why every few months and let people
not want to remind you, Hey, because I know if
I say this, people are going to talk about it.
(39:43):
And if you need a quarterback, I'm still there. Look
at me. I'm still in shape. I can still do it.
Don't call me till November, but you can call me
in November.
Speaker 3 (39:51):
But the big point is that you have so many
quarterbacks that you come into the season going what do
I got right?
Speaker 1 (40:00):
We were just doing it. How many teams do he
just go yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (40:03):
Maybe so the opportunity like DeVonta Adams when he was
doing all his interviews, right, you know, he mentioned Tom
Brady so many others in interviews and talking to the season,
not just because he might broadcast a game for them,
but he's still on their minds. And you never want
to shut the door entirely if physically you can still
do it and go. I mean, why do you think
Aaron Donald's circling around the Rams camp right now? He's
(40:26):
assessing what they are and anybody that tells you differently
is kid themselves.
Speaker 1 (40:31):
Right.
Speaker 3 (40:31):
He may be happy in quote retirement for the moment,
but the itch is still there. Hell, we see guys
in these hallways that have been retired for a decade
and they still get that hitch. Come training camp, I
might have a play in me. And then Brady came
over the top. Because the fanatics thing out in New
York is this weekend and Hulk Hogan's one of the
guys guessing what did he do? He simulated a Hogan appearance.
(40:53):
Did Brady walking down with the pyrotechnics and everything going on.
So yeah, big deal, big deal exit out about a
Fresca exit. Swollen down The Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Harmon. Coming up next, we have another
big story out of the NFL. To get to keep
it right here. This is Fox
