(00:50):
here you are, Mike Harmon. We made it. It's daytime.
We got games coming up in less than twenty four
hours in the NFL for Week two of the preseason.
I know how it sided you are, especially since you're
still coming down from me telling you earlier this week
your Bears are going to be a ten year Super
Bowl threat now because Caleb Williams is that guy. I
(01:10):
understand you're up early in the morning, you're running, laugh
you do it all kinds of self help stuff because
you feel good about yourself, you feel good about your team.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
To be fair, I did threaten to pummel you immediately
because the weight of that heavy responsibility from all the
national pundits and and newcomers to this Bears franchise. Although
maybe the boring nature of hard knocks will scare a
few of them back off. Is is a bit overwhelming.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
You can't have it. You can't have it both ways
and years going, nobody respects my team. They all think
we stink, we're terrible. This year. Now this year, suddenly
respect that here I am here, I am telling you,
telling you how good they're going to be. And it's oh,
I don't like this either. You're like you're footing the
food on me. That's what you're doing.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
You're not doing it because you honestly, earnestly think of that.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
The Bears that way. No, you're trying to hex me exactly. Yes,
that's what I'm what I'm sure I'm taking. I'm putting
my reputation at steak by saying reputa believe Yes, my
reputation as one of the greatest prognosticators in the history
of sports. Can I help you? That's exactly what I'm doing.
You like that? You sound like my grandfather. When we're
trying to figure out what to have for dinner. I
(02:25):
don't want pizza, all right? What else do you want? Well?
I don't want pasta? Okay, what do you want? I
don't want steak of sandwiches? What else do you want? What?
I don't know, but I don't want that pop? What el? What?
How about we go get h I don't know what? What?
What if we went out to a restaurant? No, I
don't want to go out. Okay, Well we'll stay in
here and order food. No, I don't want to order food. Like,
what's gonna keep you happy? What's gonna make you happy?
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Well, just that the prognostication went from being ah, they
could make a leap with Caleb Williams too, Hey, you
should be fighting for Super Bowls because then when it
doesn't happen, everything, everybody's just gonna run around with giant
machetes and axes and take the team to task like
they have. So it's like, so you win either way
either they're great and you're the greatest prognosticator alive, or
(03:06):
it burns and sinks, you know, like the Jets after
four plays a year ago, when everybody about crowning them.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Not about that. This is not about the Jet leading
you do it.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
I checked the liberties of making it about the Jets
in this moment so I could make all of America
and our global audience on the iHeartRadio app laugh.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Now you see, Now you're gonna make me upset, and
now you're gonna make me have to go calm down
by going on on social media and watching the slow
motion Aaron Rodgers sixty yard passes over and over again that.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
They put up every black and white ones look at
this and all whether this wet flies off his head.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Yeah, And the ball is in the air for like
nineteen seconds before it comes down and somebody catches it.
It's like the end of a movie. That's my zen place. Man.
When I watch the Mets suck like they have the
last few weeks, Hey, I gotta go, I gotta I
gotta watch them. Aaron Rodgers passes right here. But because
to be.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
Fair, I mean I had to move away from the
White Sox after a week of the twenty twenty four campaign.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Yeah, but didn't. I've watched them, but it's been painful.
You stuck with the long time for that week. Many
people jumped off the bandwagon after like the opening weekend.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Well, and then you know, I was with them through
the entire twenty one game losing streak. I mean, I'm
still paying attention, still watching, but my my soul and
my spirit gets kind of defeated and deflated with each viewing.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
So so if you can't tell, it's gonna be a
big football day here Football Friday here on Fox Sports Radio.
And before you look at you look ahead to what's weekend.
We got a big story on Tom Brady coming up
in a few minutes. Let's look back at the big
takeaway from last night's preseason game between the Eagles and
the Patriots. Actually there's two. The first one is for
anybody who thinks, man, if it's between Hurts and Sirianni,
(04:38):
I got Sirianni's back. Yeah, see what that offense is
gonna look like with Kenny Pickett. Suddenly after last night,
it's hey, Jalen, Sorry, man, I didn't mean to say that.
Maybe it could have been your fault. I'm sorry, man,
It's all good. Hey, if anything does have to happen,
nix the guy. We got to get rid of Nick, right,
We got to get somebody else in here. This is
not your fan There is no better reality check for
(04:58):
a fan base as to, hey, how good are we
really with our starting quarterback? Then watching your backup play
in the preseason? WHOA, Okay, maybe I was a little
bit ahead of myself. Maybe this whole hurts versus Sirianni
thing is just it's a Sirianni thing. It doesn't involve
Jalen at all.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
Well, you just expect a full running of John Malkovich
from rounders check, check, check, and then you throw your
cookies against the wall because you're pissed because you realize
there's not a downfield pass to be found.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
No matter who's running routes. I got two of the
greatest receivers going nope, what was piket last that? He
was like fourteen out of sixteen for thirteen yards up?
That's what he was last night.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
And it's maybe slightly exaggerated, but yes, what was it?
Eleven of thirteen sixty seven yards and he absorbed four sacks.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Yeah, welcome to the Kenny Pickett experience. But this is
really about the Patriots. After last night, Gerardmeo said the
quarterback competition for the Patriots remains wide open. Drake may
did take quote a step forward in their loss to
the Eagles. Okay, well, we got to play more than
three steps. I know he couldn't help, but I know,
(06:11):
but let me just say, because there's a there's a
big takeaway from this from this game last night, and
and and and the Patriots now need to move into
the category of teams that only have one thing wrong
with them. One thing, Yes, one thing. There's only that
You've you've boiled it down. You've seen enough already this preseason.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
Yes, I through what we've we've seen written about these
squads from yolks that have been at the practice. You've
boiled it down to one, one thing, one elemental experience.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Can we put it on a T shirt? One hundred percent?
Yes we can. Right, you can sit here and say, Okay,
we have a rookie head coach. There's a drama goes
along with that. We're picking a quarterback. What goes along
with that the wide receiver room. We got a lot
of young guys. We don't know how they're gonna come
through the defense. How are they gonna really come through here?
You know, is it going to be good? Is it
going to step up? You know, we just made a
tree traded away Matthew June, which is kind of a
(07:00):
tough message to send. Hey, we're trying for this year.
We trade away a guy that could make us better.
There's all these things, right, replacing Bill Belichick. First, yeah,
there's all these things. But trust me, there's only one
thing about the Patriots, and they go win this this
list of four or five teams, I only have one
thing wrong with them.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
Okay, now you're just cutting it to brass tacks. You
don't want to do the enumeration. You don't need to
fill fifteen minutes of a you know, the B block,
or you don't need to write a huge column.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
All right, what is that one thing they all have?
Speaker 4 (07:33):
Well?
Speaker 1 (07:34):
First, do you have a pen? I do this, I
do it right. I have a giant I have one
of those big sharpies. Okay, oh good, okay, good, good,
super sar sharpie. Let's go. Do you have enough paper?
I don't want your writing on the desk or anything.
I have the poster board in front of me. Let's go, okay,
all right, you're good. Only one thing wrong with the Patriots,
and again there's a bunch of teams like this, right, hey,
(07:54):
maybe only one thing wrong with the Patriots one thing performing? Okay,
what is that one thing? They stink? Outside of that,
they have no problems. They stink.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
Well, the rest is just noise, is what you're trying
to say.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
This is a okay. First of all, this is a
team that the roster has been in disrepair for the
last three years, and quite honestly, they should be picking
first in the draft next year. If they're not, it's
a minor upset from these other teams that have one
thing wrong with them that also stink, But it is
they should be picking number one because they have so
many question marks and they have so little talent on
(08:33):
this team. And they played all four quarterbacks last night,
and those four quarterbacks through for ninety yards.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Yeah it didn't not ninety yards a piece, No, no, no, no, no,
I would be one hell of a game. Three, it
would pretty in right, rolling up and down. Yeah, why
you did that math pretty fast?
Speaker 1 (08:46):
You did? You did ninety times four? So fast. That
was really fat.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
I'm a wizard. I'm like a walking computer.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
Ninety yards total. Okay, it's not that. It's not that
Drake May suddenly is looking great. His reps have been
held back obviously because you don't know how good he is.
And that's a big red flag as well. Wait a minute,
Sokayleb Williams gets the keys of the Bears offense. Jaden
Daniels gets the keys to the Commander's offense. Drake mays, Oh,
we're gonna bring him along slow, we're gonna get Jacoby brisseaid, whoa, whoa, whoa.
(09:13):
If he's so good, why did you pick him? I'm
telling you they felt they felt coerced, like they had
to take him. Where else are we going to take
a quarterback? We're picking third overall, we're gonna take him. Meanwhile,
the third best quarterback in the draft, and that's the
guy you wind up taking. So I'm telling you, I
don't know how badly they really wanted to take him,
but they did. But here they are. They don't have talent,
(09:35):
they don't have a quarterback situation that's any good. They
have a rookie head coach. You have no idea. How
that's going to go. You were in a division where
every single team is better than you, every single team
had market improvements in the offseason, and the Jets be
even better if a Son Reddick ever shows up. But
you know what, maybe that horse has left and barn
everybody is better. Everybody is better. They should be picking
(09:55):
first of all the teams going into this season. This
is one where it's you know what, let's just look
to the draft. Let's try to secure that number one
overall pick, and well, we'll get Shador Sanders and we'll
spin Drake mayoff some to some team as long as
doesn't show that he's really bad this year, like maybe
he's just some kind of asset that we have to unlock.
That's how it's gonna go. The Patriots should be picked.
(10:15):
Whatever happens this season. I don't know that they win
three games. They should be picking number one in the
draft next seat, next year.
Speaker 3 (10:22):
Yeah, I think when you get down to it, you
recognize where you are as an organization. For as much
as UH for years, I'm still banging the drum about
Bill Belichick, the coach. I was equally loud of Bill
Belichick the roster builder uh and hire hiring manager uh
for coordinators.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
UH.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
Clearly those he had that same problem that you're saying
the Patriots do. He's stunk uh in those responsibilities. But
you look at where where the roster is, and there's
some bright spots. We talk about Stevenson, we talk about Bourne,
who is part of that deal with iyuk Or you know,
because that's vexed you the whole way as well, UH,
glisten poker guys that might be able to break through.
(11:03):
But the long road begins with the first step. And
so you do your quarterback evaluation and say, all right,
at least we have him. Here's the hard part for
the Patriots is that you may lose one or two
maybe three years building the roster, and right as you
get to where you're adequate, not even good adequate, this
guy's gonna need to get paid. You're gonna need to
(11:23):
make a decision on him when he's been operating in
a system and with a roster that has been bereft
of talent.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
So you're in that catch twenty two.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
You know, when you're drafting third, you're not gonna get
anything big reaction locally if you go and draft the
offensive tackle might have been the prudent thing to do, right,
I would say, hey, set that guy for a decade.
But no, no, no, you went and you took the
quarterback and you started that clock tick tick tick tick tick.
So now it's all a question of whether Alex van
(11:54):
Pelt can get him up to speed fast to give
you some sort of return to at least give us
that usual thing.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
You know, as we're in mid August, Jason.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
Where hope we talk at the best of things and
a dangerous thing. We can go either way on the
Shawshank continuum. That's where we're at with the Patriots. And yes,
for this year, the win total in Vegas is sitting
at four and a half. How you feeling that's generous,
that's generous. I'd put that thing at two and a half.
Then you'll see some action.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Might Wait a minute, Look, if you don't believe me,
if you don't believe me, right, you should. But if
you don't believe me, maybe you'll believe a guy that's
followed the Patriots and covers them for a long time.
This is a great bit of audio that is now
making its way around because it's from the Patriots pre
season broadcast of last night's game. In the middle of
(12:48):
the third quarter, WBZ WZ in Boston did and sideline
interview with Ramandre Stevenson. Steve Burton's been around WBZ for
a long time Patriots insider, and he does a quick
interview with from Andre Stevenson. And now the first part
of it, you have to I gotta tell you because
a little bit was a mix up. Burton asked him
(13:09):
about the guy who's not there, and he means to
say Matthew Judah, but he doesn't say that. Instead, Stevens
thinks it's Bill Belichick. So that's the first part. We're
gonna play that. Then we're gonna stop down and get
to the money part of this SoundBite. So let's hear
it from the beginning. I gotta ask you about the
guy who just left. How much are they gonna miss him?
And who's gonna step up in his place?
Speaker 4 (13:31):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (13:31):
Yeah, I miss Bill. That was one of my favorite coaches.
But you know, Mayo is a he's a great leader.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
He knows what he's.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
Doing with us, and yeah, I'm excited for Mayo and
I think we get it done with him.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Stop it right there, stop right target that's right there
for a second, sor right there? So, first of all,
what do you think is going through? Steven say? When
he goes, who's gonna step up? We have a head coach?
What the hell is wrong with you? Who's gonna step
up and take Bill Bellichi tak place? Dude? Like, wait
a minute, wait, did DoD Mayo just get fired? Did
he already get fired? Cause we're gonna be so bad.
So he meant to say, he meant to, he implied
(14:03):
Matthew Judon, but instead, you know, he thought it was
Bill Belichick.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
Okay, yes, Steve Burton's in Northwestern products, so you know,
don't be too mad, matt Adam here.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
So so yeah, he's not used to covering good football
for a long time now. So how dare you you
just you just got a stray, buddy, I'm.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
As opposed to the Syracuse Orange the powerhouses they've been.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
You wait till we make the playoff this year, Kyle McCord, buddy,
you just yeah, yeah, yeah, let's go.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
So he doesn't have all those state guys running so far,
so Steve.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
So Steve Burton then corrects himself in the middle of saying, oh, sorry,
I met Matthew Judon. Okay, great, now let's answer the question.
But listen to what Steve Burton says as he reframes
the question to Ramandre Stevenson.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Defensive.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
All right, he's moving on to better place.
Speaker 5 (14:54):
Yeah, he's a different place, a different place, exciting for him.
You know, I still come.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
More years than this stuffing up. Yeah, he's moving on
to better places. Here's a Patriots reporter and inside who
covers a team and says to the best player on
the team, the guy that just signed a big contract,
you're here, Remandre, You're here for a while. Hey, he's
moving on to better places. Yeah. We all want to
(15:22):
get out, you know, Steve, I'm telling you, maybe you'll
get out one day. Maybe you'll get to go and
cover really good team. I hopeing I can get out.
I want to get to the Jets, man, I want
to I want I want to get to the Bills.
I don't know. I gotta get out too, man. But
I mean, I know he corrected himself, but I mean
that that's not that's a little more than a Freddy
and slipt to say, Hey, yeah, he moved on to
better places.
Speaker 3 (15:41):
He's ready for his twenty twenty four campaign, channeling the
seventies singer songwriter Harry Chapin, anywhere is a better place
to be. But yeah, there is the honest moment of
twenty twenty four.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
And one hundred percent yeah that is. I am not
lying to you. I'm gonna tell you the app slu
truth about things. No, I'm with you on that. Man,
this is live. What do you mean this is? This
is live? And oh oh god, yeah no, no, no,
that's great, that's great, this is this is live. We're fine,
We'll keep moving on. I understand, I understand what you're doing.
So it's all we'll clean it up and post Patriots
(16:16):
should pick first and it shouldn't be close. Again, it's
a it's an upset if they're not picking first. It
really is. Now who else is on this list of
teams that could be picking first? We got that coming
up next, as well as the latest double shot from
Tom Brady. If you thought what Tom Brady said yesterday
was crazy about potentially coming back to the NFL, wait,
(16:39):
don't you hear what he just said a couple hours
ago about another NFL quarterback. That's coming up next Jason
and Mike you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio App.

Zada and Super Bowl champion Yup, that's right, Plexico Burris.

talent on it. Up on Game.

Joining us on the Hotline. Dolphins star running back Rahem
Moster Raheem. How's it going man? How are you?
Speaker 4 (17:44):
I'm good? How about Stell?
Speaker 1 (17:45):
How y'all doing good? We're doing great? How's things at
the Fanatics? Fast? Going? So far? Oh man?
Speaker 4 (17:50):
Unbelievable you know, we got a college colors day. You know,
I'm rocking, rocking the good old boiler Maker colors for
Due boiler Makers Golden Black, and just trying to show
my school of spirits.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
You know, I was looking back when when when at
your career, going back talking about colors, I read in
high school your senior year you returned nine kickoffs for
touchdowns and that's how you got recruited by Purdue.
Speaker 4 (18:13):
Yeah. Absolutely, dude.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
At some point, didn't they stop kicking to you? I
mean right, I mean some point it's like, hey, let's
not kick to him, Let's try something.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
Else, you would think, right, But nah, they just they
kept kicking me at the ball, and I found a
way in an end zone.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
Well I love the callers. And look, I'm a big
ten guy in Northwestern grad so Jason knows me. I
wear purple every day, so that the thirtieth will just
be another day for me with maybe a little extra purple.
But you go from the beaches of Florida to uh
to Indiana, what was that shock like?
Speaker 4 (18:46):
Yeah, you know, it was definitely a huge culture shock.
I mean going from a thurf town to you know,
cornfields and nothing. But look, cals and cattle around, right.
It was definitely a culture shock, but you know, I
had to just like anything in life, you have to adjust, right,
and I was able to do that, So it was
(19:07):
it was definitely different. I didn't know anything about a
trench code, and that was like the first thing that
I bought once I realized from once I realized how
Polder was in Indiana.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
Well, you went from and people say, oh, yeah, you know,
I made it out of the shark infested waters of
my youth. You actually did make it out. You're a
huge surfer and you surfed at the beat where you're from.
The town you're from is known as the shark bite
capital of the world.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
Yeah. Yeah, it's none of the sharp bite capital of
the world. It's been going since I can remember. Actually,
crazy story my one of my childhood friends and surfer
surfer friends, surfer buddies that I uh used to riding
with back in the day. He went out two weeks ago.
He's a firefighter for Edgewater, which is like a city
(19:53):
over from New Samerna, went out into the waters in
New Samerna and got bit in his hands, no kidding.
So it's yeah, so you know he posted it on Instagram.
I told him I'd be praying for him and all
that good stuff, you know, hopefully that nothing nothing happened.
That was crazy. He just had to get a couple
of stitches and and that was it. But yeah, he
got bit a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker 1 (20:15):
Oh get crazy. Did you ever get pit while youre surfing?
Speaker 4 (20:18):
No, never have, but I've encountered too sharks, like shark encounters.
One time I was actually surfering with him. We were
about like six thirty seven o'clock in the morning. That's
when the waves are usually pretty good, and that's when
the beach is not so packed. We I was sitting
on my board that morning and just see a shark
(20:40):
fin like literally two feet from the edge of my board.
And you know, the guys I was with, they told me, hey, look,
whatever you do, don't freak out because they think your
food if you freak out attention. So the only thing
that I could do at the time was just lift
my legs out of the water and just sitting chout
toes right on the surfboard.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
So you'd that applied that to the football field when
you approach the b gap.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
Oh yeah, see it's a little bit different. It's a
little bit different with the B gap. I gotta I
gotta attack the b gas. So that's I gotta get
at least three yards. That's my mindset, all right.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
So what if I could do this for you, If
I could wave a magic wand and say I can
give you one of two things. You can fight off
a great white shark and there's video of it and
people see it, and you fight it. You punch it
in the nose, like I think that's we'y supposed to sharks
punch in the nose. That's what they sat huge, like
thirty foot great white shark. Like, it's good, tell it's
got blooded, its size. You can fight off a great
white shark, raise your fist and swim off and everybody
(21:37):
sees it. Or you can win the super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (21:42):
Ah, that's a good one. Oh, that's a good one.
I've never had this encounter before. I would have to say,
I would have to say super Bowl. I've worked so
hard for for that opportunity to win, to host that
trophy up and and you know, you share that moment
with my family. I think I'm gonna have to go.
(22:02):
Although the shark by shark you know, fighting off for
shark a great white that's thirty foot, that's that's major too.
But I think I'd have to go with the super Bowl.
I want to be enshrined in the super Bowl. Yeah,
I definitely do take that.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
See he gave you a different scenario, Raheem. I was
gonna have you racing Lyles and Tyreek Hill since you
know your sprinter days, you know.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
Oh yeah, no, they don't want to see me.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
Well, I mean you're right, I mean they changed the
kickoff rules for you, so, I mean, you know what.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
That's what we got right right right, Raheem. Most of
our guests here, Jason Smith, my car but on Fox
Sports Radio. All right, let's get into the season a
little bit. Here is as we get into week two,
everybody's getting set to play a little bit more. How
do you feel about playing in preseason? Do you like
playing in preseason? Do you not? How do you feel
about it?
Speaker 4 (22:49):
I like playing in preseasons, and let me tell you why.
It gets my body callous ready for the regular season.
I gotta I gotta figure out where I need to
you know, it's like that final touch, right, that final tune.
I got to see where my final tuning is so
that way, when the season hits, I know exactly what
I need to do, what I need to work on,
what I need to focus on the most. And it
(23:11):
gives you the opportunity, not only for myself. I mean
I was a guy that had to play when it
was back when it was four preseason games, right, I
was one of those guys that had to play all
four preseason games because I was a fringe guy. So
it also gives different guys an opportunity to get film
out there because hey, just because you don't, you know,
make it last with this team that you're on, there's
(23:33):
still thirty one other teams that's going to be looking
at your tape and yes, up to you whether you
put good stuff out there or not, but you just
can't look back. And it just gives guys opportunities. So
I'm all about that a lot.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
Of opportunities for you last year to find the end zone.
Any of those fantasy owners you won stuff for send
Jenny gifts this offseason.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
Nah, nobody really sent me guests. I've heard numerous accounts
where guys, you know, say hey, look you want me
my fantasy Uh, it's just It's just good to hear
that type of stuff because you know, I'm doing my part.
I'm doing something well for their league.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
What if we sent you pants like Mike McDaniel wears.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
Oh, that'd be awesome.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
All right, that happened.
Speaker 4 (24:15):
Yeah, I would actually have Mike McDaniel sign him too.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
Oh nice, there you go. All right, you keep them
or you'd sell them? Like what will you do?
Speaker 4 (24:23):
No? Those those are those are personal. I got to
keep those that boys.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
It's there's something about coach because obviously perception, you know,
media wise, from what we see on the outside and
and some of those interactions.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
Uh, what what would surprise us about coach?
Speaker 4 (24:39):
If you if you saw his shoe size, you'll be
very surprised. He has a he has a a very
big shoe size.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
Little guy, like he's like shock like he's like it's
like a like like a seventeen, Like like what do
you mean he's.
Speaker 4 (24:53):
Like he's like he's like no, no, no, not that big.
He's more of like a five twelve or eleven and
a half. And he's only you know, five foot I
don't know, six seven eight whatever. I mean, that's pretty big.
Speaker 6 (25:07):
Man.
Speaker 4 (25:07):
If you think about it.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
I just buy bigger shoes. I just can't look at
my shoes. I can't. I can't even feel him in this. Ye,
I just buy bigger shoes. That's all there is. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
And he's like he looks so like he's like small,
like he's small as stature. But then you see his feet,
they're just like so long. You're like, wha wait a minute.
Speaker 1 (25:25):
On Friday, August thirtieth, College Colors Day back for its
twentieth anniversary to help kick off beginning of college football season.
College Colors Day created the foster school spirit among fans, alumni, students, faculty,
and staff by encouraging everyone to probably showcase their college
colors all on the same day as it did last year.
Fanatics is going to be offering twenty five percent off
all orders with the code CCD twenty four. That's CCD
(25:49):
twenty four on Friday, August thirtieth, where he most are
incredibly involved with that. Check him out on Twitter as
well for more information on that. Thanks so much for
stopping by. Best of luck this season. And I mean
that because I'm a Jets fan and I'm telling you
best of luxy, you know I mean it.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
Uh oh man, you mean you mean it? Okay, I'm
gonna let you pass.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
See he let that for how many minutes we've been talking, raheem,
he went that whole thing before getting the Jets in.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
Dude, I had my season and after four snaps last year,
come on, yeah, he was waiting for.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
That last little punchline and so finally you can. You
can mention that right that. Dude, it's all ottle brother.
We see you two times a year. I promise you
it's gonna be hell got.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
A mad head. Have a great time again again Colors Day,
raheem mostered on social media. Thanks so much for stopping,
buy great stuff. Best of luck, man, have a great season.
We'll talk to you down the road.
Speaker 4 (26:41):
Thank you, Thank you guys a love. I appreciate you gentlemen.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Have a good one, see reim. Oh man, Hey, how
about that answer about being able to play all the
preseason games? Put stuff on tape? Like, damn, that's like
what a head coach says, Well that's him, most he
But dude, that's you want to be a coach after
you're done playing, man, I mean, I mean you're gonna
run the ball to your thirty eight years old, so
it doesn't matter. But I mean, hey, you want to
be a coach apter, that's pretty cool. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
He also gave us the whole thing on McDaniel's shoe size,
which leads to a.
Speaker 1 (27:07):
Whole other set of questions.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
Yeah, it is a different explanations about a lot of
other things. But you look at most it's history and
he's a guy. I remember him at Purdue, remember him
coming into the league first run, you know, going to
San Francisco, and he was in Miami and all these things,
and the path he's traveled to get to where he
is now is amazing. So that answer really doesn't surprise
(27:31):
me when you go through and you see how many teams.
I mean, he was a bear for a minute. He
was a jet for like eight seconds, right, and never
activated him, right, Jets bears all the way through like
the guys well traveled and he just kept his head
down and kept working. So I mean all those life lessons,
So I guess a little bit of coach speak out
of that doesn't shock me. I mean maybe that's the
(27:53):
follow up when we talked to Raheem again, is you
know the next part of his football career.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
He's thirty two years old, still averaging nearly five yards
of carry. That's raheem moster right there. Awesome, awesome stuff
from him. Uh and the Shark stuff, I mean I
love that. Oh great with that, Hey, don't move they
think your food? Oh man, that he.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
Really has to think about it between the Shark and
the Super Bowl though that.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
He did, he did he I could fight off a
great white med video he's thinking going viral and all
this stuff. Oh man, that would have been.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
Then he could throw out a first pitch for the Mets.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
Sure, well way if anybody's gonna help us win, the
Hawk to a Girl doesn't matter. See, that's the thing.
We have grimaceon Hawk to a you know all these others,
you know, all these other teams have end to throw
at the first pitch. For the Yankees tonight, we have
Grammy and Oscar Award winning recording artists. And for the Mets,
it's it's Grimace. It's the Hawk to a Girl. I mean,
that's totally mess Well. We had Jennifer Hudson last week.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
I felt bad grant the cell Grammy an Oscar winner.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
Jennifer Hudson n.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
Here's the next season of her talk show and all
of these accolades and greatness and there's like eight people
in the crowd to see her.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Hey, tomorrow when the Mets play the Marlins, it's the
guy who did the interview with a talk to a
girl throwing out the first pitch. Hey, real quick, because
we promised this and we'll get into this as we
go on. Tom Brady also appeared at fanatics Fest a
couple hours ago. He was on stage and getting ready
to start his broadcasting career with Fox coming up soon.
You're gonna do all the games. A lot of attention
(29:20):
on him, obviously. He signed thirty seven and a half
million dollar a year contract. He's spending a lot of
it at the fanatics Fest. He's been buying a bunch
of his high end cards. Oh, he's been buying his
own cards. Yeah, he's going on the show floor. He
found a couple of shops that had some high ingraded
stuff and he's stacking stuff up. I'm buying my own cards.
So here he was. He was asked, Hey, what kind
(29:41):
of analyst are you going to be on TV? Like?
Are you going to be someone who's insightful? You're gonna
be someone who gives a lot of criticism, and here
he is breaking down just what he wants to say,
what he wants to talk about on the air, and
listen to the quarterback who catches astray at the end.
Speaker 7 (30:00):
I just can't say that on TV, well, because there's parents,
and you know, there's there's parents, and there's family members,
and I don't want to always necessarily say it in
that way. But I think if, okay, if I was
doing it myself, and let's see I throw a really
bad interception, I would walk to the sidelines. I said,
if you are the worst quarterback in the world, how
(30:22):
can you possibly.
Speaker 2 (30:23):
Make that thought I was terrible?
Speaker 1 (30:25):
But I just don't want to be so critical.
Speaker 7 (30:28):
Because in some ways I don't necessarily know exactly what
the problem was on that play. Let's say Daniel Jones
strokes an interception. I mean this, I wasn't even being
critical of Daniel Jones.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
Maybe I was a little bit.
Speaker 3 (30:50):
Yeah, But here's the thing, right, obviously he knows the audience.
While it is a global event, everybody getting out to
New York. You got all the native New Yorkers there.
But here's the thing. He's never gonna call a Giants game.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
No, they have to be good. That's why he's like, look,
Brady knows exactly what he's doing, right, I mean to
sit here and say, oh, I don't know what's going
on on that play, Like, of course he knows what's
going on. It's Tom bleeping Brady. Of course he knows
what's going on on the play. That was all just
a complete setup to get to the Daniel Jones punchline,
which he knew was gonna kill. I'm telling you, watch
(31:23):
out all this talk about all this guy was great.
This guy's great. Watch what Tom Brady does in the
broadcast booth. He's not showing up to suck. He's not
showing up to give timid analysis. I'm not gonna take
on a guy. I mean just just look at this.
Look how he delivered that. Just look that was That
was a masterful job by a guy that's not even
done a regular season game yet. Trust me, he's gonna
be fantastic in the booth. He will take on players
(31:46):
because he can, because there's nobody else as good as him,
no matter who that's it, I was better than you.
No one can say that. Well, Tom, Tom can say
what he wants to say. That's gonna be the big
popular phrase. Well, Tom can say what he wants to say,
because yeah, because Tom's got more Super Bowls than anyone.
No one can say he doesn't know what he's talking about.
That's Tom Brady. But that's it. Who's gonna check him? Nobody? No,
(32:09):
nobody like and what are you gonna do in the
booth with him? Just kind of not going ye, are right?
Speaker 3 (32:14):
Might have been a little cruel, but hey, Tom, you're
Tom Brady.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
Have had it exit? How about a fresca exit swollen dome.
Jason Smith Mike Harmon in for Doug Gottlieb Today. Coming
up next, we will tell you about the most crazy
sports story out of football that you could possibly have
this summer. I still can't believe it, and I've had
like sixteen hours to deal with it. That's next right here,
(32:39):
This is Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
Fox Sports Radio. It is a Doug Gottlieb show. Here
Jason Smith Mike Harmon our show heard nights here on
Fox seven to eleven Pacific time in for Doug Today,
thanks to raheem Mostert for stopping by with US minutes ago.
Phenomenal interview with that guy the shark attacks. Would you
rather survive a great White attack and beat the Great
White or win the Super Bowl?
Speaker 3 (33:08):
It took him a while to answer that question. That
was fun stuff because you could see the movie playing
in his head.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
Yeah, oh right, oh yeah, here's sure.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
Heem mostered all the years, all the injuries, all of
the things that took to get to this point with
the Dolphins and what they are versus I don't know,
I become the guy that you know, was able to
knock down a thirty foot shark.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
I'd become a legend, oh in that community where I began.
So yeah, they'd make that like like John David Washington
would play him in the movie, nicely done, like yeah,
and then Denzel would be in at somewhere. Of course,
you know Denzel would have to be in there, but
you could see that man, this is gonna be great.
I'm gonna fight off a great White shark. That's great.
Speaker 3 (33:47):
No, that was a lot of fun. I really appreciate
the opportunity to chat with him. Wish him well, especially
in those two games against the Jets.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
He had some fun with that too. But I'm honest
when I say, hey, I'm a Jet fan, I'm wishing
you good luck. So you know I'm being honest. He goes,
all right, we'll see you twice, We'll see We'll give
you hell.
Speaker 3 (34:06):
I'm sure that that's gotta be part of a new
open for the show night.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
Yeah. Maybe hell, Hey, we'll give you another fail.
Speaker 4 (34:14):
Mary.
Speaker 1 (34:14):
How about that day? Thanks a lot, Ray appreciate him.
Uh but look, maybe that conversation is the second most
surprising football topic of the last sixteen hours or so.
Speaker 4 (34:26):
Is that.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
Yesterday it was announced that a biopic of John Madden's
life is going to be made by esteemed Hollywood director
who nobody really likes in Hollywood, David o' russell. Right,
this guy made a lot of billions before it passed.
Were all ten and bounds. Guy's got a huge list
and a lot of guys that don't like him very Yes. Yes,
if you google David o' russell Christian Bell, you will
(34:49):
find some clue. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. The list is
long but distinguished. So he's doing a movie and he's
doing it about John Madden's life. Okay, So well, it's
gonna be fit. No, it's gonna be about the Raiders
and their teams of the seventies. Okay, so who's gonna
play John Madden? And the answer is Nicholas Cage. Yeah.
(35:12):
This is not an onion story. This is not hey,
I'm kidding, This is not rumors on the internet. This
is not who would be the guy most incredibly opposite
to play John Madden.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
No, but I needed to see five or six uh
you know, real news sources before I believed it.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
You had to see or Something. You had to see Variety,
you had to see Hollywood Reporter. Somehow Nicholas Cage is
going to play John Madden from the seventies. First of all,
Nicholas Cage is a lot older than John Madden was
in the seventies. But okay, uh, I mean, how does
in what room do we finish that we're gonna make
a movie about John Madden's Like yeah, okay, And and
(35:48):
they all all these movies executives whose careers sometimes hinge
on one bust. Hey, you know you bankrolled that movie?
Forget it, You're done? Uh, walk around the room, Yes, yes, yes,
it's it's uh, it's Nicholas Cage. Nicholas Cage, Great Nicholas
Cage is the guy? How does how does he wind
up being the guy? I don't understand.
Speaker 3 (36:07):
Well, it is it's a bold strategy gotten because there
you either love Nicholas Cage and his movies or you don't.
There's plenty of classics mixed in and a bunch of
films that maybe you never heard of. Did you realize
that he started a movie based on the USS Indianapolis?
Speaker 1 (36:26):
Often?
Speaker 3 (36:27):
Well, since we were talking Great White Sharks, right, that's
the tale, uh that that Shaw gives h and Quinn
gives during the let's compare scars. So you know you've
got all of those things of Nick Cage, and then
you have National Treasure and con Air and and so
many others and so many others that you've never heard of.
Speaker 1 (36:47):
Yeah, but but the dude is a caricature of himself. Well,
he's playing movie making fun of himself. I mean, who's
gonna take this serious? Hey? Debt?
Speaker 3 (36:57):
Crushing debt will make you sign off on a lot
of bad movies.
Speaker 1 (37:01):
Hey boom, heck of a play. Hey Stabler, fumble this
ball forward and then Casper can fumble it forward. Hey,
Jack Tatum, don't go for the kill shot. Just try
to intercept the ball. Don't let it bounce off to Franko, Like,
is that what's gonna happen? Christpophett, I know you have
something on this. Well.
Speaker 8 (37:20):
I can see his voice working. He just needs to
get it down an octave and putting a little bit
of draw. But don't you want to see him try
to bulk up like Christian Bale put on like I
don't know how many pounds to play. Dick Cheney. Nicholas
Cage will absolutely do that. He will lean all the
way in to look like John Madden.
Speaker 3 (37:34):
Well John Maddno was kind of lean in the seventies though,
I mean, but this would be.
Speaker 8 (37:38):
About later John Madden. This is gonna be like around
the video games.
Speaker 1 (37:43):
He would do that, whether it's required for the role
or not. I don't know that you can you can
bank on him showing up. Hey, you realize we're doing
a different movie. Yeah, but I was taking the character
in a different direction.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
Okay, I'm building towards Trilly put together it's her Duckin'. Hey,
we're gonna call this the Holy Roller instead? Were you
just kind of throw it up in the air and
maybe someone's gonna catch it.
Speaker 1 (38:03):
I don't get it. I don't get it. Uh. We
could have more on this or not and another big
story of the out of the NFL coming up next.
This is Fox Sports Radio.
