You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Greetings, Welcome inside to a fairly average and slightly disappointing
Tuesday night.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
It's much more difficult and deflated Jason Smith on a
tuesdaymn It Monday. Normally people say, ah, back to work,
and work sucks and life's terrible and I hate all.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
Yesterday it was a glorious Monday.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
It was a glorious Monday, sunshine and rainbows night.
Speaker 4 (00:55):
No, not much.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
No, not happening because, like I said, the Mets lose
to the Orioles and the Phillies, who I don't think
have won a game in like three months. Keep losing
to all the teams just ahead of the Mets, all
the best team in bait. They can't beat anybody who's
any good justice, like they're doing it on purpose, like
it's all, hey, if we if we lose to these teams,
that screws the Mets. Okay, great, like that's a and
(01:18):
always the Mets, right, that was their thing in the
playoffs last ways, blank everybody and always the Mets. Yeah, okay, great,
that's what's happening right now.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
I'm sorry, buddy, it all went to hell.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
I mean, we we got here.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
We're hanging out and kind of chatting about what the
show is going to become, all the great topics from
the NFL and John Palm BARROSSI gonna join us next hour.
You tell us about being in Cooper Stewn or Williams Sports.
Sorry he was with the Little League World Series stuff
and all of that. Instead, now it's about metscha.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Yeah, that's all right. I hate baseball, so that's fine.
It's it's fine. I hate baseball.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
You know I got past that.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
You know, I'm already in long into the I've recovered.
I went through all five stages of grief with my
White Sox a long time ago.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
I'm know I'm doing now.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
It's all good. No, all I'm gonna do is what
I normally do is I'm gonna go watch Slow Mo
videos on social media of Aaron Rodgers throwing a fifty
yard pass at practice. They take about forty five seconds
to watch the beginning to end because you get right
from the snap, the slow drive back planning his foot.
You watch the ball in the air for about thirty
seconds and then it falls into Garrett Wilson's arms, So
(02:25):
it's just one of somebody else's arms.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
Thirty eight percent of the completions or whatever it was.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
Yeah, that's okay, that's okay.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
It was it eleven or twenty seven?
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Yes, look, okay, all right, all right, let's start here.
Let's start with this. Let's start with you want you
want to start with us. You want to hear that
I went down there.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
I was trying to bring Aaron Rodgers into thing like
he was gonna be, you know, like a soothing bomb,
like you had a bad sunburn, and he's your alavera.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Oh well look coming up this hour on the show.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
He's your green gel.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
You're my alavera, and I rub you on like bomb
when I woa, whoa, whoa, Now I feel better. That
got creep in a hurry. I will say this. Nothing
works faster. I don't think any medicine in the world
works faster than aloe on a sunburn, Like oh oh,
now it feels great suddenly, Like it's like it's instant.
It's like when I have that first sip of coffee
(03:13):
and I'm like, all right now, my head is clear,
let's go. Let's go my first sip of coffee. Like
you put alo on a sunburn, and like in the
first second, it's all right, all right.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
Now you gotta take it out of either the now
or the fridge.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Uh, I can't.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
I can't do it from room tamp It doesn't have
the same effect for that.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
No, it should, because well, yeah, I guess it feels
better if you do it right.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
But I get the instant relief if.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
You put alo in the fridge, then don't you At
some point you pull it out and think, oh, I
have some kind of pistachio.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
If I got some laboring for my ice cream at
some guacamole, I've emptied it all into a jar after
my run in different taco joints around La though, give
me some of that there pistachio squirt, whatever you got
that is that what happened from my ice cream over there?
Speaker 1 (03:57):
Boy, I'll tell you it's minty. Ah boy, my tongue
feels great. I can't feel my tongue now. All right,
that's like a house case. Oh, fifty three year old
man eight alo A lot of it mistaken for pistache.
Well i'll take the case. That's interesting.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
No, I want to see what kind of uh, what
kind of things I can do with aloe in cooking?
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Yeah, what you man, I'm sure in some I'm sure
some parts of the world. All hello, we cook with
alo all the time.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
All the time.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
I don't recommend do not cook with AlOH.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
It can be used enjoyed raw or cooked in blended drinks,
soups and dips, curry, stews, salads. So you can do it.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
You're that's like real stuff. You're not at the dark web.
No good, okay, all right, I want to make sure
here's how to butcher it and how to prepare it.
I like that they use the word we're a butchering aloe.
It's not an animal. It's just a plant.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
Wow kind of thing.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
Off. But when you say you cut the leaf off,
you rub it on your skin and then you start eating.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
But see, if I just say butcher it, it gets
to the heart of the matter. I just know we're
cutting that bad boy off and we're getting after it.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
That's like, that's like some kind of movie where the
hero is like, you know, got bullet holes in him
going and he grabs aloe off a tree and he
runs the giants it on his bullet hole and then
he just starts eating it because he knows, like I
could do both of these things. It's like, you know,
next invention of hunger. Get it's just super food. Yeah,
put it on there, and I start eating it, and
then you start healing and then the bullets.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Come pushing out. Maybe maybe it's the natural animantium. Yeah, sure,
But okay, you're gonna generate.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
We have a lot of regenerate. Oh no, we have
a lot of football coming your way. Obviously. I have
a great average bold prediction and average because I'm gonna
say it and you're gonna go, whoa. Oh I can
kind of I'm gonna say average bold prediction. Like there's
both like whoa, But I got an average ball prediction.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
We've been on the air together a good decade, and
no matter how insane some of your hot takes might be,
I now see the logic in it, because I know
how your brain works, and how do you got to
that point? Sure the rest of the audience coming in
first time, Ian's in uh and the executive producer chair
he doesn't know how your brain work. No, no, no, no, no,
Mark over there gets scared. Friendley just starts cackling to
(06:10):
himself like a mad man. Fenley's just looking at UCLA
Tennis results.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Might tenn I may have to call some kind of
doubles match at some point this week, and I may
have the third doubles match against the when they play
Stanford in some kind of unsanctioned event that's No. Twelve event.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
I've also thought about potentially putting us in for a
press pass so we can go do the same.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
Will it be as polished and refined? And you want
us to play?
Speaker 3 (06:36):
No broadcasters because Finley's over there doing a professional broadcast,
because you and I who've never done a tennis man.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
No no, no, no at all.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
I could do as like, come on, that was out.
I'm probably too old to do partners tenn but I
could do partner pickleball. I've never played pickleball, but.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
Did you get one of those taco bell rockets they
we're giving away today. No, I did not know it
was only one of two hundred. I failed. I just
thought it was going to be good.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Which people playing pick a ball, and I'm like, you're
not moving. Nobody needs to move. When nobody watch people
play pick a ball and nobody hits winners, it's not
like tennis where it's d D but and you look
for it. It's like I'm just hitting it in the air.
And then you're hitting it in the air and I
try to slide it over the net and and back
like no one's going crazy, like I'm gonna I'm smashing
it and hitting winners, like what you expected me. I
(07:20):
watch people playing, I go I could.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
Do that, But it's lesure. I'm trying to vanquish, you know,
one of my friends and make them.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Look for But it's a sport, like if you want
to work out, you can just go to the beach
and and and and hit ping pongs with each other
or throw the soft ball. Why don't you do that
on an official court. You look like a big ship,
but you're keeping score. There's a scoreboard.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
Sure, eventually one of you is going to.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Hitting it to you. When you're hitting it. To me,
you know what that's called. That's called having a catch.
That's having a catch, having a catch.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
Don't say having a catch. I'm gonna stab you. Have
a catch, You have a catch?
Speaker 1 (07:50):
No, have a catch. No, you don't play catch. Play
catches like you're a cat. You're not playing at catch.
You're having a catch, not having it. You're not playing
at worst line on a film history. Play catch, now,
you know why, because that's how you say it.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
Does.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
Have a catch, not let's have a catch.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
Where everywhere I know in New York don't chance. And
I've never heard people.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
Say let's go play catch. What do you mean let's
go play catch? It doesn't make sense. Have a catch?
Speaker 5 (08:13):
No?
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Play catch is like, hey, I don't know how to catch,
but I'll play like I'm playing a role. I'll pretend
to play catch. Let's play catch it now, it doesn't
make sense. You're in your mind.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
It's like throwing the speedball by Springsteen didn't know what
he was doing either. That's it. I said it. Every
sports writer and radio punt it now hates me.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
Now you mentioned Aaron Rodger, Yah, you brought him up.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
Don't blame me, you're the one.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
No, you're the one that said his name.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
You know you invoked him with Remember the thirty eight
seconds in the air, snow motion, sweat falling off his head,
smile on his face as he realizes Garrett Wilson has
split the defenders and is running free and clear.
Speaker 4 (08:53):
If only the ball could make it.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
No, you're right, I did do that. I did do that.
But look one of the big NFL's oriented. And I'll
tell you my big fear, right because I told you
I've been all positive. We're gonna win fourteen games. I'm
probably gonna wind up picking the Jets to go to
the super Bowl. We're gonna be great. But now I
know what I am most afraid of. Right now, I
know what I'm most afraid of. For Aaron Rodgs, with just.
Speaker 4 (09:15):
Two and a half weeks till the beginning of the season, I.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Figured it out here he was today talking about the
really dismal practice the offense had a day ago in
which they didn't complete a lot of passes. Aaron Rodgers
went oh for fortyar the end of practice. It was
the worst offensive practice.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
Four four. Okay, I just want to make sure, like
in the Red swallow.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
He was, oh for four, like when you do red
zone at the Yeah, worst practice they they've had offensively
in the Aaron Rodgers era.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
On the plus side, your defense supposed to be pretty good. Yes,
Actually the way to spin it.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
Yeah, No, I'm not too worried that. I'm not worried
about here's Aaron Rodgers talking about today about Hey, listen,
what happened yesterday. As bad as we played, I kind
of was a fan of that.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
I would say the camp is much harder this year,
and maybe the hardest in the last seven or eight
of my career. I knew that at little insight coming
into camp that that's what Robert wanted to do. So
I think it's been.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
Good for us.
Speaker 5 (10:13):
I give Robert a lot of credit because he from
the start of the offseason said this is gonna be
a tough training camp.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
There it is, and look and he said, hey, was
a good day for us yesterday. It's good to see
that we come back, we fight, and that's awesome.
Speaker 6 (10:25):
Right.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
Okay, here's my biggest fear because this is this is
this is what it is. Every one of the Jets
at Aaron all this. If the Jets start out slow, okay,
and by that I mean they lose the forty nine ers. Okay,
are you supposed to beat the forty nine ers? No,
(10:46):
but you lose the forty nine ers and then you're
getting into the middle. Out of September at one in three,
it's gonna get bad. Fast is going to get bad
with Rogers and Sala Fast.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
But I and I agree because one already has the
burners on him.
Speaker 6 (11:12):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
In that Robert Sala a lot of questions of whether
he can do the job right guy, and that's that's
never left. He runs the stairs better than any other coach,
but that's not helping you. On Sunday, and those commercials
of him shaving or whatever the hell those.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
Were brushing his teeth right, get him right, brushing his teeth? Okay,
so he brushed his teeth well. Dental health is very
important question. Okay, it's the key to health. Yeah. Your
teeth are the best friends you'll ever have.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
To take care of them. They'll take care of the
show when you're a meat eat Yes, that's right anyway,
carnivores need those teeth. But the rest of your septembers,
in theory winnable, right, So even if.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
You lose to OK.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Yeah, you've got the Titans. Yes, you've got the Patriots,
and you've got the Broncos. Yes, those are games that
it should be a three and one ever over themselves
over the Broncos the last forty eight hours.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
Yeah, that's oh my god, that's fine. That's fine. But
if they start slow and suddenly with an advantageous schedule
outside of the Niners and they're getting out of September,
I can see it. I can see Aaron Rodgers saying
something like, ah, we started slow. I don't know if
I got more reps in the preseason if it would
have made a difference, kind of side swipe thing. I
(12:25):
don't know if I'd gotten more reps because I didn't
get any reps in the preseason. You know, they don't
really talk. You could tell the way Rogers talks about
Sola and Solad talks about Aaron Rodgers. They don't speak.
They have intermediaries. Can you bring this to the coach
that Aaron is talking to today and let him know
this is what I want to do a practice later on. Listen,
just just go right to Hackett and he'll tell you
who to give it to.
Speaker 4 (12:45):
To go there.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
This could get sideways so fast because they after last
year and having the season taken away with Rogers injury, right,
they stayed with it. They won seven games somehow with
Zach Wilson right, they didn't quit. It was we still
believe in guys, this locker and at one point it was, hey,
they could make a run. They beat the Eagles, were
five and four, and then Zach Wilson was awful and
(13:07):
you're benching guys and it just got bad. They're so
all in on the beginning of this year that if
this starts out bad, there's a lot of voices on
the team that are gonna be incredibly frustrated. Garrett Wilson
and he's not gonna shy away. Sauce Gardner and he's
not gonna shy away. And Rogers will be the head
of the snake because he's gonna be the one that understands.
(13:30):
This is my football mortality. This is made Robert Sala's
mortality as a head coach. The guy's eighteen and thirty three.
He can go be a defensive coordinator. This is my mortal.
I like making forty million dollars a year, and I
want to do this another two, three, four more years,
so you're gonna see it get if it gets bad.
And I see Rogers and Salad at odds, I know
he is now cut bait on the season and he
(13:51):
is for whatever next year is gonna be. I gotta
try to find a way to stay in this league
with a different team, and I gotta make a look
like this is not my fault. It can get sideways
so fast, because look, you saw Rogers do that with
the Packers for twen He's winning the MVP, still blank
all these other people, We're doing well, but then in
the off season things were still bad. He is not
shy about doing it if the de's my biggest fear.
(14:12):
If the Jets start out slow, it will get sideways
and spiral out of control and they may never pull
themselves out of it. This way.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
But the thing I liked about his comments is, well,
which path do you want to take it? Take down
the highway right of It's the hardest it's been for me.
Speaker 4 (14:28):
And what eight years? Nine years, he says. And some
of that is well, you're older, you're not moving as well.
Maybe maybe you're not reading it as well coming off
of the injury that maybe you recognize the rest of
the game. This is me being pessimist and you know,
make you feel really good about your season to come.
But I appreciate that is that you know, you're recognizing
(14:48):
that the hell that it might be in that it's
not coming as simply or you go the other out
and you say, all right, he's praising the defense and
what Salah is cooked up, and in his own way,
he's complementing the coach for having a good plan for
the way training camp is gone. It's either setting up
or it's also already excuse making of Wow, this is
(15:10):
a different, different look. It's not as easy because we've
talked a lot about the makeup of this roster. You've
got a couple of top end guys. You mentioned them all.
You've got three of the best guys at their positions
in the game in Gardner.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
In Hall and in Wilson. There's no question about it.
Your offensive line is going to determine your season, right,
I mean, obviously it's whether eight is upright and playing. Yeah,
but that offensive line, because you went and spent a
bunch of money on some old guys.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
Right, and your number one pick is a swing tackle.
Now he's playing. So in theory, you've fortified, have you. Yeah, No,
we don't know saying it. Man, it's as confident as
I am. The closer we get to the season. Now,
that's what's going to kill us if we don't get
out of September three and one, like, it's gonna go
bad fast, because that's how it does for teams like this,
(15:59):
it all falls apart at once, and all this house
of cards that were built at all falls now if
they get out three and one, suddenly we're the big
bad Jets. But we got confidence that we are gonna
come kick your ass. That's what the Jets.
Speaker 4 (16:09):
But now, I mean forget it, like it's it's just
think about what you go in October. You know your
first game is against in October trouble Sam Sam SAMs.
Speaker 7 (16:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
So we went a day for Sam against his former team.
Four first half touchdowns to Justin Jeffers.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
He just kept pointing at Sauce Gardner and throwing it
in his direction.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
Sam Darnold still is eight yards away from the record
for most yards passing in a game, and he's still throwing.
With the Vikings up fifty six to four in the
fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (16:37):
I'm gonna see if AI can create us a parody
song of if we make it through December.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Oh Boy.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
For your September prediction of the New York Football Jets,
little Merle Haggard has done through the Jets schedule.
Speaker 1 (16:50):

Speaker 1 (16:57):
I'm next. Well, I'll give you that bold addiction that's
gonna sound. Well, we're like, oh you no, I can
really see this happening, which takes the boldness down a
little bit. Yeah, but I'm telling you this is gonna
happen this year in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (17:10):
Like a stanza. You're not lying if you believe it's true.
Speaker 1 (17:13):

We're closing in five hundred, Budy, We're closing on five. Yeah,
well I'm closing in five.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
Once we get the King Kong Bun closing five on
closing in, I mean there's got to be a cake
or something for that, right, that's maybe a sandwich.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
You know, it's funny because you know now that I'm
at the point now and you know, I'm fifty three,
and I look at my life and I go, I
have more radio behind me than I have ahead of me. Yeah,
right now, more rated behind that. So that when when
that happens, you start looking back and looking back at
things and think about your life and career and stuff
(19:34):
and and just together.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
Day to play the time of your life or a
good riddance the time.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
But yeah, hey, yeah, at it it's a song about
a bad breakup, but let's make it sound like it's great,
and you know, and and and not to get too
weird on stuff, but just I still feel the point
like I was when I was twenty one twenty two,
where the only thing I wanted to do was radio,
Like I got that bug very early in college, and
I didn't think I'd get to do it again. And
(20:03):
I got to do it. I got to I changed
careers at thirty and then that's when I became a
talent and started doing radio. So now I'm sitting here going, okay,
now I'm on you know, almost you know, twenty five
years of doing with a little bit of a break
in the middle. But and I sit back and I go, boy,
any other things I would have done when I've done
anything else? If I could do it over again, would
(20:24):
I do different things? And while it's been great in
the journey along the way as well, I wanted to
do TV. I did TV for a few years. I
wanted to write a book. I wrote a book for
to get published. I wrote for websites. But still I'm
at the point now where I go, you know, radio
is still all that I really wanted to do. Not
that I'm eminently unemployable outside of radio. I mean I
(20:45):
might be at this point, but it still is all
I ever wanted to do because I still get I
still have so much fun coming in here and doing
this every night with you. And when everybody says to me, hey,
how come you you don't have more guests on your show?
I got we like to talk too much? How come
you we like to talk too much? I like to talk.
Four hours seems like a long time. But at the
end of the night, I was going ow I wanted
(21:05):
to talk about that. I wanted to talk about that.
I wanted to talk about that. It's still with this
type of format that that is going on, and the
more younger people that are getting into media are jumping
into shorter formats and podcasts and this, and you see
someone on I do one podcast a week for forty
five minutes and make thirty three million dollars a year,
Like I wish, I wish I could crack that code.
(21:27):
But in the end, it's like, you know, having this
canvas every night to be able to do this, I
never take it for granted, and I just dig doing
it so much, and I'll always know that when I'm done,
I'm done, and I'm like, you know what I've said
all there is I need to say, and I have
made all the arguments, and I've I've told all my
stories and I've done all this. And now I'm gonna
(21:48):
go and just watch the Mets every night right without
coming on and going can you believe Nemo dropped that
ball in the eighth that we're coming back? It was
seven five, And I can just go, oh, Nemo, click,
and I can turn it off and turn on ten.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
Gonna happen?
Speaker 3 (22:02):
You and me and Rob and Ben who were on
before us, Uh, We'll die sitting in front of a
microphone with a pair of heads.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
Say don't say that, buddy, because if that happens in
the middle of a show, I got to find somebody
else through the rest of the show. Well, your body
is gonna be in the corner, just propped up. Just
put the hat over. It looks like he's sleeping.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
Prop me up.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
Beside the juke box. If I die, the old Joe
Diffy song, Let's go.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
Right there.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
I saw a movie and I still I never looked
to see what it was but I remember a few
years ago, like like at night, I woke up like
I had taken a nap, like mostly wake up the
middle of the night. And I'm just trying to find
myself and see this movie and it's about these friends
that are going out like a night on the town,
and one of their friends died and they bring him
with them and it's a body, and like they have conversation.
One him has a conversation with me, says I'm in
(22:49):
love with your sister, and like they bring him to
a bar and like it's a drum.
Speaker 4 (22:52):
It's not like it for like a weekend at Burden.
This is a US base visits.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
Yes, yeah, no, how did I not.
Speaker 4 (22:58):
Hear about it?
Speaker 6 (22:59):
No?
Speaker 1 (22:59):
And like they they they bring this kid. They're young,
they're on like in their twenties, and some o the
guy dies and they bring them out and they sit
him down at the bar like no one's paying attention.
It's a big crowded bar. And I remember seeing going
one guy saying saying, I'm in love with your sister.
I've always and she's the sister's there. Of course I
always have been. I never told you. And I'm going
this is so weird. This is weird.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
I mean that's an extension of the almost famous plane scene.
And then except this guy's actually dead.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
And then I fell back asleep and I woke up
the next time, going I saw this crazy movie. Are
you dream what it was?
Speaker 2 (23:33):
No?
Speaker 1 (23:34):
No, it was, and I don't I can't remember who
was in it. I didn't recognize anybody, but that's what
it was. They kept bringing him different places. They carried
him out and they said, what's going on? Oh? Too
much a drink? Yeah, okay, mean, well, no, the guy
was dead.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
But see you're telling you this and you're saying, I
don't remember. I went back, you know, and went back
to sleep. You know, this was it was a fever dream.
I'm now picturing the beginning of Mama Mia, I.
Speaker 4 (23:55):
Have a dream. And that's that's where you're getting.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
No, that's the one that never throws off. They was
they were in a bar and then and and they
you know, they took turns, someone took her and sitting
with him, and there was drama going on. But it
wasn't like a it wasn't a comedy. It was this
is a this is a thing, dark comedy. Okay, yeah,
I know Ray that'sher radio day. Woke up today and
started thinking about it.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
And you know, we're bringing back the I Watch Your
Flex podcast because it'll be your twenty five of doing podcasts,
radio hits and everything for Fantasy foot.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
You've had NFL players you recommended to start the first
year of your podcast, and now you'll be recommending those
players sons who were born that year.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
Well, because that's what I figured. You always said you're
gonna work through at least.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
Benia Day, the end of Bobby Benia Day, right, the
like when it was finally done, hopefully, Yes, right, that
is what I wanted, God willing, and and this is
the happy Birthday down July second yard and everybody live
second twenty thirty five.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
That that that's you and I get to run through
untill till then yelling at each other. But by then
we'll be talking about Mahomes's kid. We'll be talking about
somebody the third and we'll have covered both.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
Yeah, okay, the old man's career, the utter Kengraphy Junior
got a kid hitting the minor leagues at a point,
because that could actually have it here, But you know
what I mean, it's it's one of those things like
time passages, right, and we can sing the song, but
it's every year, I'll time passages. Okay, every year you're
the cat and time passages that's where you went down
(25:28):
that road. But every year it's the cycle, right, it's
the new a new season, clean slate, and we get
to make some of those arguments, because what do we
always say, right, last year's argument for a team, it's gone.
It may have a lot of the same principal players.
You may have decided a guy stinks. I don't know,
say Sam Dark, but now he's in a new situation.
(25:50):
I haven't sided.
Speaker 4 (25:52):
I know I know he does.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
I haven't decided. I mean, I know, I know he stinks.
I mean, I just know I need to decide. No,
I know it's out.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
Math tells me he sticks. But no, I don't take
it for granted.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
Every time we get to do a spot, when we
get called on for for our affiliates, or we open
the bike here I mean four hours of laughs, entertainment,
hopefully enrage engage at how about a fresca at Swollen Dome,
and we don't take it for granted. Or the time
you spend with us here at Fox sports radio. I
mean that's that's one of the main things to all
(26:25):
of it is, you know, you do run into folks that,
oh I listened to this and you're an idiot, like, well, thanks,
here's a beer. So that's always the great thing, you know,
because it always just like you do with your friends
at the bar, you sit down and hash it out
again and then you're back to just loving the sport.
So it brings us all together.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Uh, we'll give you that big or well the the
what's gonna then you're gonna say that Cheverage Bowl prediction. Yeah,
coming up in ninety seconds. But first, because he's found
a way to take a couple of minutes away from
checking out the Padres games and seeing the seedings for
the men's doubles NCAA tournament in tennis, Brian Finley now
(27:04):
has what's trend.
Speaker 6 (27:05):
I was looking for the seatings of the wild card
positioning in the NL and I couldn't seem to find
the Mets.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
Dude, it's the middle of August and we're two games out.
Everything is fine, Okay, it's not the middle of August
and we're twenty games out.
Speaker 4 (27:21):
It's where two games Notice it goes from Bravado to hey,
we're there. Yeah, right there.
Speaker 2 (27:25):
I like that though.
Speaker 6 (27:27):
Yeah, and Mike, you just saw that Jason guaranteed the
win tonight on social.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
Media, So I'm not sure what he has in response
to that.
Speaker 4 (27:37):
But it might not be tumbling that game anymore.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
It's it's about it might be about something else. I mean,
the waiver up one nil over Santa.
Speaker 4 (27:45):
Fe, caught the cap.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
I'm a big fan in landon Donovan's coaching.
Speaker 4 (27:50):
Sure, sure, a kind of a big guess there on
the bench.
Speaker 6 (27:53):
Yeah, well, d you did, and and the Mets certainly tried,
but it wasn't enough because they lost tonight. And we'll
begin there against the Oriels nine to five. James McCann.
They did it against his former team. That's what also
must hurt even more for Jason. But yeah, that sucked.
That did completely suck. Yeah yeah, oh yeah, yeah yeah.
(28:14):
So two run home run for McCann. Also the Braves
with a three to one win over the Phillies. Wins
for the Brewers three to two versus the Cardinals, the
Cubs getting by the Tigers three to one, Pirates over
the Rangers four to nothing, and as far as some
of the notable games that are still going on. We've
got the Mariners leading the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium two
to nothing. Second inning, Walker Bueller two in runs already,
(28:37):
two hits allowed, one inning, pitched two walks, so he
hasn't been at his very best as of late. Mike
Harmon's White Socks. They put up a run, yay, and
they're only within a run. They're very close to the Giants,
who are had two to one through three innings. There,
Rays and Athletics, they're scarless, my Padres. They are down one,
(28:59):
two to one Petco Park against the Twins. Fourth inning
is where they are on that one. And then the
Red Sox just take just took a lead, excuse me,
six to five against the Astros in the eighth inning.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
And then this one.
Speaker 6 (29:11):
Speaking of another team that often overshadows the other team
in New York, it's the Yankees overshadowing the Mets usually,
and it's three three Yankees and Guardians. They are going
to a twelfth inning, and the very first inning, Aaron
Judge hit a home run, his forty fifth of the year.
So into a twelfth inning they go in what is
(29:32):
definitely some wonderful drama and theater and as far as
what else is going on quickly in the world of football,
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says that his team is making
progress towards reaching a long term deal in keeping wide
receiver Cede Lamb, and they're looking at something, according to ESPN,
in the ballpark of being the second highest.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
Paid wide receiver in the league.
Speaker 6 (29:54):
That's what they're looking at with Lamb, which would be
just below what Justin Jefferson is getting with the Minnesota
to Vikings. And then lastly, Pete Carroll, who recently was
fired as the head coach of the Seahawks, was part
of a radio interview. You guys know this group really well,
Softy and KJR and those guys, and Carol was asked,
(30:16):
what is he planning on doing Jason Mike, he wants
after of course, he was the head football coach at USC.
He wants to now teach at USC. So that is
top of mind for her or for him about going
down that route. I'm not sure what he's going to teach.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
When you know the NCA is coming to town, you
get an uber and you go down to Union Station.
You get on a train and it takes you out
of town because they really can't find you on a train.
If you take a plane, if you have to drive
through told you have to show a passport or some
kind of identification, they will find you. But the NCA
can't find you. If you get on a train. Get
on a train, take it as far as it goes.
(30:57):
That's all for today. Spend the rest of the time
looking in your books of your phones. I'll see you tomorrow,
reading the tea leaves you know when your time is up,
gonna take.
Speaker 4 (31:06):
A freight train down on the stage load. Can I
play the flute and never coming back?
Speaker 1 (31:13):
Thank you very much, bro.
Speaker 6 (31:14):
I was gonna to my Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll
they could teach a class together on what you were
just saying.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
Yeah, they would. They would fight over who got to talk.
You would never get anything out of it. Get some
good music. They both love music. Couldn't do it. That's true.
That's true. That's true. All right, Thank you, Brian fedily
appreciate it, buddy. So you want This is a bold
prediction that's gonna seem like an average one because it's inevitable,
all right, It is inevitable by mid season and I
(31:45):
saw the story today. The Browns are looking to potentially
trade a quarterback. Bay have four and they're looking to
trade from the from the bottom of their roster, maybe
Dorian Thompson Robinson, but they're looking to make a move.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
But think about it, that's why they didn't need to
go back and get jervin their food lead again.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
By mid season, Jameis Winston will be the starting quarterback
of the Browns and he certainly a starting quarterback the
rest of the way. Look, he have another epic pregame
speech right before the last game. And the thing is
is that forget about everything back from Deshaun Watson with
the controversy, right because because that's happened, he's back, he's playing.
Deal with it. From this perspective, he's been terrible, and
(32:22):
he's been hurt. He's never been good, and he's never
been healthy. And the Browns are done. They're done. They
gave a lot of money to a guy, They guaranteed
all kinds of money for someone who clearly now is
not gonna be the same. And when you haven't played
a lot and now how many years has it been since,
when's the last total? Is last sixteen football games. It
takes you a long time to get there, right, and
(32:43):
you're talking about injuries and ineffectiveness. They're not gonna sit
around where this team is somewhat loaded, right. They have
a really good defense, they have enough weapons on offense.
You're hoping Nick Chubb comes back, but look, I watched
Kevin Stefanski, you know, get to ten wins last year
with four different quarterbacks, including grabbing Joe Flacco in early
December off his couch. They're not going to sit back
(33:04):
and go, Oh, hopefully Deshaun Watson's gonna get it. It
will be a quick, quick ish hook for him. But
by mid season, Jameis Winston, who the last time he
was a starting quarterback when he stepped in for those
few games for the Saints, he did pretty well. This
is a guy that's been sitting back. He's waiting for
that next chance. It seems like potentially he's a great fit.
Everything everybody's been saying about him in Cleveland. It's been
(33:25):
a great fit so far. Kind of like maybe a
Baker Mayfield Bucks type situation. He will take over. He's dynamic,
and he's gonna be the starting by middle of the season.
Deshaun Watson will be the backup quarterback to Jameis Winston
and Clevelan. Who would have.
Speaker 3 (33:38):
Thought going to Cleveland would be where you'd have your redemption?
Now you had to stop over in between, but that
this would be because Cleveland Baker Mayfield had to leave,
he had to go find himself somewhere else. No, but
now we're coming back to Cleveland.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
No, but Ray Jennings dad, right, Ray Jennings was Cleveland
royalty because of his dad. But didn't his dad? M Oh,
his dad's still like Cleveland. Okay, maybe Ray Jennings. Maybe
Ray Jennings.
Speaker 3 (34:02):
Well, and then he went to Brooklyn, Yeah, where he
played a cop for maybe, and then he was hanging
out with all of those things lead to your legend status.
Yes to where Arion Foster?
Speaker 1 (34:17):
What is it?
Speaker 4 (34:18):
Fino? Wasn't that his altered to where he showed up
and now he was gonna go hang out with Dennis
Leary and they were going to fight fires together.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
So I don't know something like that. Six games last year,
six games in twenty twenty two, missed all of twenty
twenty one as the Texans and he just kind of
stared at each other and go back to twenty twenty
thirty three touchdowns, seven interceptions that he was reased. The
last time he was John Watson was a big deal
and was supposed to be next.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
And since then, with a year off and then another
half year suspension, he has come back and been less than.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
Excepty nine and a half percent completion percentage of out
fourteen touchdowns nine picks.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
Yeah, look, they've had it with him there already. They're
ready to like, this team is not staying together much longer. No, no, no,
it's gonna be whatever's going on with.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
Amari Cooper, Like you still need to go and kiss
his ass after his name got up, and you don't
know what is gonna be. So in theory, you've got
two running backs that can get it done and give
you support. Defense is pretty strong, but that division, I mean,
it's a cannibalistic division. As much as we can make
(35:31):
fun of what the offense for Pittsburgh might be, their
defense is still gonna keep him in games. Right, They're
gonna win seven games, eight games by accident, you know,
just like they did a year ago.
Speaker 1 (35:44):
Exit ut out, a Fresca exit swelling down the Jason
Smith Show with My best friend Mike Carmon Lot from
the tiraq dot com studios telling you it's it seems
it's bold, but it's gonna seem inevitable and that's why
it's by mid season. Jameis Winston starting quarter back.

pm Pacific, Fox.
Speaker 1 (37:16):
Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon. And it's time now to just understand and
we need to illustrate when Jerry Jones sometimes says something,
what exactly things mean? When we get the daily update
as far as what's going on with Dak Prescott and
(37:37):
CD Lamb, it's okay, what really happened today?
Speaker 4 (37:41):
We get more press.
Speaker 3 (37:42):
Briefings about the state of the caro did we do
about our local municipalities?
Speaker 4 (37:48):
It's our state or our country.
Speaker 1 (37:51):
Every day at Jerry John of course I'll talk about it.
Could you put a microphone in front of me? This
is Jerry Jones quote today about CD Lamb and if
Jerry Jones is optimistic as to whether or not there's
going to be a deal with CD Lamb.
Speaker 2 (38:06):
Quote.
Speaker 1 (38:09):
I don't mean that to be insensitive to our fans
or to CD. But we're in good shape there, and
we are having promising talks. Okay, having promising talks. I
really thought you were going to do it in his voice?
Oh why should do it that way. I don't mean
to be that insensitive to our fans or CD. But
we're in good shape there. We are having promising talks.
You say, well, why do you keep talking? Why don't
(38:30):
you do something again? Is in anything it takes both
of you there at the same time. Well, I think
I am when I say that. Sometimes it doesn't sound
too promising. The facts of that I believe will come together.
I don't want to speak for him, That's what I'm
trying not to do. But we wouldn't have offered him
what we've offered him if we didn't want him to
be here. Understand, Jerry Jones is just word salading all
(38:55):
of us every single day.
Speaker 4 (38:56):
Pretty good done, No man, that's a good salad.
Speaker 1 (38:58):
That's always a good that's always do not the Randall
Cobb salad, No, no, no, no, he's well, he's gonna bounce.
It sounds promising, But when I say this, I realize
it doesn't sound too promising. We're promising. There's no promises.
Paul Abdul did the promise of a new day. There's
that promise, Margarine, Uh, there's a promise. Keepers at the
McCartney guy won the National championship in Colorado. He was there,
(39:20):
and I'm out of promises, Eastern promises. Vigo Mortenson watch
a whole movie. Didn't know it was in London. And
that's a true thing. That was me, not Jerry Jones.
Watch a whole movie that's in London. Uh so Morton's yeah,
I didn't not. Yeah, my wife loved the movie. I
said that was in London. She said, yeah, weren't you
paying attention? I said, yep, I didn't know it was
in London. Uh, this is just word salad with the cowboys.
(39:42):
No news is bad news. You always say no news
is good news, but every day is the same. Well,
we exchange sides. We're talking. Nobody's got any sort of progress,
No one's got any sort of This is what we're
going to do. This is now getting into the part
where what kind of shape is cd land I'm gonna
be in? What kind of year is he going to have?
(40:03):
Is he really gonna get anything more than just here's
an extra five million dollars show up at camp. Now,
like Jerry Jones, is that no one's moving towards any
kind of deal. There's no momentum. Dak Prescott's people would
be saying it, Ceedee lands people would be saying it,
but there's no momentum. No news is bad news. And
this Cowboys season is gonna start with great. We don't
have our great wide receiver, our quarterback's pissed off. We're
(40:25):
gonna have none of these guys in a year after this.
This is awful. That's the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
Yeah, but they're thankful in San Francisco because they've got
multiple guys with that question, and they're starting running back
who's kind of just hanging out on the sideline doing interviews.
Speaker 2 (40:38):
So all of that to say, the.
Speaker 3 (40:40):
Old phrase and maybe it's bad in twenty twenty four
used to be I hope the labor wasn't terrible, but
I want to see that mom's healthy and show me
the baby, right, Yeah, way or whatever, and that goes
for both the teams. They're still talking. They're still talking.
They put it off for I don't care. Still whatever
numbers are getting out or lives look, still talking. Is
(41:00):
just we're taking each other.
Speaker 1 (41:01):
When Jerry Jones calls all answer, when CDs people call
all answer.
Speaker 3 (41:05):
Right, we don't hate each other, and we haven't, you know,
disappeared to a remote island. No, you know, at least
having engagement.
Speaker 1 (41:12):
Clear Dak wants X and CD Lamb wants Y, and
Jerry Jones says, I got a bunch of Z and
maybe some K or some L, some X, some Q,
some T, some added some X to me. I'm just
going to part I'm just going letters. I don't meet
Jerry Jared. I'm just saying letters. I'm just saying letters
could be f could be like they want one thing
(41:34):
and Jerry Jones willing to give another and it's not happening.
And Cowboydvans are saying that, you know, f a lot
crazy baseball story. Next Fox
