Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Greetings, Welcome inside a glorious Tuesday night here on Fox
Sports Radio Jason Smith alongside my base friend Mike Harmon.
And when he says glorious, you know what that means.
America Live from the tyrack dot Com studios tiraq dot Com.
I hope you get there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping,
free road hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers.

(00:27):
Tyrack dot Com is the way tire buying should be. Now,
if I was being accurate, what I should have said
was happy NFL Eve Eve, because that's how close we are.
Now get a little bit jittering NFL Eve Eve Fantasy
drafts everywhere. My phone was blown up for people. The
annuals is what I call them. Yea, all the guys
that have worked at Fox Sports Radio in the past

(00:49):
and have been part of our lives. This is the
week I hear from all of them. Well, I also
want to wins a year nothing And now it's like hey,
and it's not even a hello. How are the girls? Yeah, no, no, no, no, no,
how's your health? White Sox suck, none of that. It's
just immediate, Hey, white sock suck like KEPR.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Twelve team keeper I got, I gotta keep two of
this guy, and then there's a roster.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
You know what you should do, just say listen, just
text everybody in your in your book and say, from
one to two pm today, I'll be taking phone calls
and just call and I'll answer the phone just like
you do. We're just like, what do you want to show?
And you take phone calls like it's radio from nineteen
ninety five and you just take phone calls. Ayre you're
on with Mike Harment, Mike uh twelve team five by

(01:32):
five half point PPR, and they ask their question. I
did a lot of and then they go and people call, Hey,
if I don't answer, it just means I'm on with someone.
So just keep don't leave a message, just keep calling
back one to I'll get everybody out here. I left.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
The lovable thing about it, though, is people will do
this like they have like four minutes to do something
I haven't heard from them forever, And it's like I
had to pick this guy, like I'll get a text back,
Like I'm not responding to you immediately. I do other
things during the day. I'm not attached to my phone constantly.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Hey Mike, it's your dad, Dad. How you doing so? Uh?
Jamar Chase, Like, where do I? Where do I take him?
Where do I?

Speaker 3 (02:10):
He'd be more likely to start selling me on Baker
Mayfield White because.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
He's all the Florida sports. Yeah, he's dialed in, so
you know who do I handcuff him with? Bucky Irving
or Sean Tucker? Who do I had something? So we
can talk a little bit of Dolphins.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
We could talk to Jaguars occasionally we get into some
college football.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
But yeah, it's uh, we've made made mainly NFL Eve
Eve We've made We've met with two days now. Now
you're it's we're opening presence. We're getting ready to open
those presents. So wonderful. We do have a big night tonight.
You know what, We're gonna kick things off in a
big way in a few minutes. Mike and I are
going to give you our surprise playoff teams in the

(02:50):
NFL this season. And I will tell you this right away.
The Jets are not a surprise. Obviously they're making it,
so I will tell you that much. The Jets are
not a surprise. Well, they are a little bit. No, No, no,
they're loaded, man, they're loaded. I'm saying, hey, I'm saving
my big jets stuff for tomorrow night. Oh yeah, brown chicken,
brown cown, build a brown jet brown. Oh sure, brown chick,

(03:13):
a brown count a brown.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Taking a bump back to uh the scrambled late night
cinema films we're doing.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Yeah, those was one of my favorite jokes. What do
you get when you cross a brown chick with a
brown chat a brown cow? What do you get? Brown chicken,
brown cown, brown chicken, brown chicken brown. You are a
great dad joke already. Yeah, this is okay. Well, let's see, hey,
Bo Benson, who is in producing tonight for Justin Frostsburg. Uh,

(03:46):
let's see how violent we can make Mike Harmon play it. Yeah.
And the truth is, if you have great stuff, you
can challenge over the white part of the plate a
little bit more. Let your stuff just play it. If
you don't, you better figure out. Oh my goodness, the
White Sox have just gone full White Sox, and as

(04:07):
pop up ends in a collision, Miguel Barkers is down
with his face and his glove. Three runs have scored
White Sox radio network. No, that's shriffing. So that's what
TV game. Sorry, sorry, White Sox Television Network.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
So normally you would say, you've only been there for
one year, you haven't earned the right.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Yeah to have that. Yeah, but it's been a long assuit. Oh,
this one year is worth ten yeah anywhere, So I
guess he's earned that a little bit. The best part
of it. The guy at the plate was at Lloyd Jimenez. Yeah,
where did he used to play? When he played, he
was with the White Socke. Now he is in Baltimore.
They have all sorts of control. Right. The guy leaves

(04:50):
after throwing seventy two pitches and two winnings and all,
so walks a guy and what's he doing? First ball swinging? Yeah,
you got him to pop up? Yeah, and then it's
quiet quiet. Oh No, that's about as good a call
as you get. I'll give him credit for that. It
is the biggest highlight right now that we have seen

(05:11):
from Major League Baseball. Tonight, bases loaded a pop up
that looks like it it's down the line and left field,
and it could have been a three person collision. Look,
but look, I'm like always gonna be no. The two
person collision, and he did stay in the game. Bart
did stay in the game after Fargus did stay in
the game and play. So that's talk about.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Where you go from Wow Man Dodgers and your career
and what might be could be and now you're part
of this and the long thousand yards stare iso shots
that we've gotten of in the last couple of weeks.
I mean, you could do the entire sounds of Silence

(05:52):
and you don't even have to stay on one Inach like,
you could do a whole montage of things in the sad,
desperate state that he's in. But yeah, the White Sockx
have won two of their last thirty one series. Actually no,
they won one, not games, not games series, sorry series.
They won one, winning two out of three with the Rockies,

(06:15):
and then they split a four game series with the
Red Sox, so we'll count that as a win. Otherwise
it's loss after loss after loss.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
I mean, look, this is this is absolute history, and
not the great kind unless you're a Cubs fan that
we're talking about here. This is the White Sox, not
only it used to be a question whether, hey, are
they gonna break the record for the worst record in
MLB history, which we go back to the sixty two Mets.
Hard to go all the way back to the Cleveland
Spiders as they disbanded and didn't finish the season. But

(06:45):
the White Sox have to win ten games the rest
of the way just to not be the worst team ever.
They got to go five hundred. Yeah, the only way
they're doing it is if teams lay down again, that's
the only way that's happened. It's done. They're not only
gonna set this record, they're gonna put some distance. They're

(07:06):
gonna say, I'm not just gonna break the record. I'm
gonna put some distance between us and whoever else comes
after us to break this record. Like they could lose
a buck twenty five. Yeah, like they could, they could
go a buck twenty five.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
This is really special stuff because because guess what, nothing's
changing because here the rules of the draft. They can't
even have a top five pick this year, just the
way the mid of the Baseball draft, So you're not
even getting the chance at that number one lottery piano.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
They ain't cashing. MLB makes it Mickey work for it right,
can't trade the picks, can't do not there's there's a
lot going there. The minor league system is bereptive talent
and has been for a long time. You trade it
away all your discernible assets in the past. Not that
you won't be able to get something for Lewis Robert,
but he's certainly a diminished asset. He's not the guy

(07:52):
he was.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
Andrew Vaughan once upon a time, was a guy they
thought would be at least one of those thirty five
double twenty home run eyes. Oh you can't hit the
broad side of the bar and most of the most
at bats, so like just one after the next. I mean,
Grady Sizemore at some point can activate himself and probably
hit as well as a lot of guys in the
lote like Roger.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
Dorn when he comes in. I activated myself. He's got
the uniform underneath. It's great. I mean, this is how
bad they're gonna blow past. It's not even gonna be.
It's anything where you can say, well, because the Met's
only played one hundred and sixty games in sixty two, right,
so they finished forty and one twenty because obviously we
don't need to make these games up. So it's not like, well,
if they finished with one hundred and twenty one losses.
The Mets lost one twenty. No, they're gonna say we're

(08:34):
leaving no stone unturned. We are putting a stampoint, we
are owning this record. I mean, really, if you told
me one twenty five, right, they got twenty two games
after tonight. If they go seven and fifteen, which honestly
is being that's being generous to them, they're gonna lose
one hundred and twenty five games. Like, that's how many
games they're going to lose. That's how bad this is.
They've got to the point where it's like we don't

(08:55):
even have hope for it anymore, Like we gotta be
over five hundred the rest of the way.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
Yeah, the largest contract ever signed by the White Sox
is the deal that they gave Ben Attendee. And we
know what he's been this year as you look at
his stats, hitting a robust two eighteen coming into tonight's action.
In one hundred and sixteen games, he's got eighty eight hits,

(09:21):
forty nine RBI. Again, once upon a time, a guy
who was a great potential player back when he was
wearing a different color sock. But you look at that
Jerry Reinstrow's not gonna spend money that suddenly fixes anything, right.
It's not said, oh, well, we go through a couple
of years, a lean times, and you know what, we're

(09:41):
gonna go spend four hundred million dollars and bring in
a couple of big boppers into what is a stadium
that guys would be lining up to hit in, no
question about it.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
But the money's never there. You're not gonna sign players.
They tried the Atlanta Braves approach with a couple of
these guys. When you look at Moncada, the aforementioned Jimenez
uh and Robert and they rolled snake eyes time and timing.
Those guys couldn't stay healthy and never showed any urgency
to get back in the lineup when they have been

(10:12):
so all the way through.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
It's just been an abject failure. I mean, before the
season they trade Dylan Ceese, right, guy who far and
away would have been the King of King's Ransom at
the trade deadline. Instead, Nope, he was already throwing no
hitters for his new team.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
You had guys that wanted to go, but only if
you're gonna pay me more money. I want to stay Believable.
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon Live in the
Tireck dot Com Studios. That just that they're gonna blow
past worst team of all time. Oh we get to watch.
I'll take the over. If you said over under losses
for the White Sox at one twenty five, I'll take
the over. Yeah, I'll take the over. If you get

(10:50):
to one twenty eight, maybe I'll say, ooh, that's winning
three more games. That's where you're kind of But one
twenty five, again, we're basically getting the media over. Buddy,
I've counted this over on one hundred and twenty five losses.
I mean, I want this, buddy, this is but here.
But maybe it's nice watch them because I'm a glutton

(11:11):
for punishment. Look as good as this is gonna be
for the Bears, this is this means because that's what
I think is that, Okay, you Yin and Yang, so
as bad as this is going to be for your
White Sox for the Bear you could be great this show.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
Well, but that's the thing. And again we talked about this,
and it's the stat I bring up.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
It's all a matter of the the perception versus reality
and whether you look at life as a guy or
a woman with a glass half full or half empty. Okay,
and wherever you are in the world, however you're listening,
thanks for being part of our extended family. You know
how you look at at the lens of your life.
The Bears over underwind total is eight and a half,

(11:47):
the Steelers over underwind total is eight and a half.
The White Sox over underwind total was eight and a half.
One they got past the luckily.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Yes, now they have more blown saves than they do
wins at this point, do.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
They They've crushed that?

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (12:01):
Really all that's because it was thirty one thirty one.
Oh it was close. It was close.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
But remember I gave you the stat it was a
week ago. I think it was last week this time
either Tuesday or Wednesday. Where if you would bet them
through the first five innings of a game again true,
watching watching the wheels grind, you were only down two
units even with all these losses. To show you highly
competitive five inning squad. Let me tell you if it

(12:27):
was a Little League game, you might have had a
chance exit out about a Fresca exit swollen dome. The
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmray, just
this is absolute history and something you're never because last
time we saw it in nineteen sixty two, you're never
gonna see. This is the kind of thing that you
know goes into a time capsule. I'm going to create
a my own custom tops or Panini card set that

(12:51):
I'm gonna frame and as the greatest team of all time.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
Coming up next, Yes, we'll give you our surprise playoff
teams from the NFL this year, plus the end of
one long protracted holdout, just in time for Week one
that's next right here, Happy Tuesday, and what a marvelous

Speaker 1 (14:38):
Are you?

Speaker 2 (14:42):
Ahms? Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Harmon. Sometimes you learn life's lessons and songs.
Yeah yeah, And just like the White Sox, sometimes you win.
Sometimes you know when, sometimes you know it if that
happens that way. Uh, Speaking of winning, Dodgers up over
the Angels too. One show, Hey Otani a triple and

(15:02):
he just scored on a single. Had he just held
up at second, he could have stolen third for another
stolen base and gotten close to fifty to fifty, could
have done it, but he didn't.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
You know what, what Ramirez is what thirty four to
thirty four? Nobody cares no, because that's great with you.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
We got a guy's gonna be fifty fifth, let's just
say it.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
He's gonna get to forty forty and join what's still
a pretty exclusive That's awesome.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
Wrong year to have your balance, that's great, boy, This
is really a nice year. No one need. The thing
is here's is this helping you being under the radar
that no one's talking about the fact that you could
be forty forty that that help you get there. Don't
even get the Cleveland drop. No, no, not know. Tyser's
got to come back to work for it to have
the Cleveland.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
Uh So we'll keep you updated all the big baseball
going on tonight. But it's NFL Eve Eve and before
we give you our surprise playoff teams for this year
in the NFL, the law long protracted holdout of Trent
Williams is over. How about that? Now the only holdout

(16:05):
left in the NFL, of course, is a son, Reddick.
Jet's gonna Jet. Yeah, yeah, yeah, but he was seen
signing it Jets. I'll tell you this, it's serious. Now
he'll be signed by this time tomorrow. Reddick will be
It's embarrassing. Yes, there's video of him signing a Jets helmet.
He will be signed by this time.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
The Jets move money around to that.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
He signed this helmet Moore signed by Sean Connery exactly
fifty dollars. But no, look, the's the only one left.
It's the only holdout left. He was signing Jets paraphernalia.
He's close to. He hasn't even been in the building,
hasn't talked to Robert Sala in a month. But this
is embarrassing, but it seems like they move money around.

(16:49):
Tonight they signed Michael Carter, one of the best nickel
corners in the league, out to a big contract extension.
And so I would say, tell you, I feel pretty
confident by this time tomorrow he's a jet. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (16:59):
Just fun watching the want to get moved around, right,
because what did they do? They restructured in San Francisco
sixteen point five. Yeah, they moved up in cap space
by restructuring demo. So again the old Hey, we're at
the cap, we can't do anything.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
They have violin over in the corner. It's all ps
and it's all hocus pocus. What do we tell you?
You can always figure the money out. The money is
always able to be figured out. Don't any if anyone
ever tell you it's too much money. Don't You can
always figure out all the like the waves analogy, like
it's it's really rough out there, and then you start
seeing just little ripples because you recognize how much you

(17:36):
can smooth things out if you're if you're steady on
your feet. So Trent Williams ends his holdout with the
forty nine ers. They wind up freeing up money, giving
him a lot. He is now in with a week's
practice to get to go from Monday night against the Jets.
The Niners made it more difficult than they needed it
to be. But look, hey, did I want them coming
in no after week one? Oh? You need it. You

(17:58):
wanted proof of concept that it wasn't work about him,
But the Niners did the smart thing. All this worrying
about money. I feel like they wring their hands at
every contract negotiation and they make it so much harder
than it needs to be. Ooh, this is a big
any decision that needs to be made. It's like we
have to wait months before we make it. Look did
they wait a long time? Yeah? Did Trent Williams get
his money? Yeah, it's smart. They'll figure out the rest

(18:21):
of the money after again, eight guys now making over
fifteen million dollars a year, You know, it's a one
year thing. This is their year. This is it. That's
why this is the Niners year. The super Bowl window
was open for this year only because after this year
they're gonna lose three or four of those guys because
they can't pay him. You can't pay all the keep going.
So because brock Perty is gonna get a lot more
money than he is now, they're gonna want to sign

(18:42):
him long term. They don't want to be cheap or
look bad and say, hey, we don't need to give
you a lot of money next year. We just got
to give you some decent amount of money. No, you
want your franchise quarterback to be happy. So this is it,
like this is the year. This is the year Niners? No,
next year not. They haven't built the dynasty. They built
a team where hey, are you gonna get one super
Bowl before your three year run of the most talented

(19:02):
roster in the NFL evaporates. That's where it's at right
now for Sanfrge, I.

Speaker 3 (19:07):
Mean, I understand the front office and the decision making process,
especially because it's again it's a changing marketplace.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
It's like we were talking about a lot yesterday.

Speaker 3 (19:16):
Listen to the podcast Grab It, give It five Stars rated, Evangelized, Friends, family, etc.
Keep expanding our horizons here. But where things change?

Speaker 2 (19:25):
Right? The rules of.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
Engagement nil and all those other things changed it for
college coaches and administrators who for years had been able
to operate absolute autonomy authority my way or the highway whatever.
It doesn't work anymore. Right, You got to literally have
to use the kid gloves because you got to understand
the temperament and temperature of your locker room of the players.

(19:48):
The guy that you think is your golden goose, well
maybe there's more gold over there, right, or he becomes
a bigger goose. I don't know whatever the analogy is,
but the idea of being that that's not going to change. Well,
in the NFL, it's the same thing. Guys used to
play out until their final year and then they'd fight.
Williams has three years left on had because they've already

(20:11):
redone it. But he had three years left on his
deal and still just said, nah, I'm not gonna do it.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
And that's the thing that's changing, right. It used to
be one maybe two years left that you'd get a
little bit of a ripple. Now it's all right, I'm
underpaid a year and a half into a contract that
I signed a hold out or hold in or whatever
the terms. However they go through the process because it's
all about the fine schedule, because they actually have to
be fine. Now. Sure, back in the day, I was like,

(20:39):
I find you two million dollars. Yeah, I just kid,
welcome back. You won't we get to burn it in
the fireflight. Yeah? But also, is this something that really
has to be paid back or this is you have
to pay it back? You can't see me, but I'm
winking at you. No, don't worry, but he'll pay it
all back.

Speaker 3 (20:57):
I think you have to show that a transaction took
place and then it goes out the back door?

Speaker 2 (21:02):
Do I have to show it? Do I have the money?
Do I have to show that another transaction happens right
after it? No? No, I don't have to show. It's
what I mean, like the check got cash look endorsed
by Jerry Jones, and then out and back went a
bunch of crisps one hundred dollars bills right back into
whomever's bocket. Now come on, well look, well, well they'll
all rifle company when we're all testified. They were all

(21:23):
at the meeting where where Kendrick told nobody to touch
Santiago as long as you stipulate no one was in
Dawson and Downy's room. Five minutes later. Oh okay, great,
yeah there, we we'll find him and take that money
from him. If you promise not to look in our
room five minutes later when we're just handing it back.
When I nod my head, you hit it. But yeah,

(21:45):
all that.

Speaker 3 (21:46):
No, but it's it's good that this kind of comes
to it. Still, we got to figure out what the
hell's going on in Cincinnati, though, we'll get to that.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
We'll be honest, Cincinnati, we will be now here. It
is tomorrow. We'll make our super Bowl pick, our AFC
NFC championship game in super Bowl picks. But right now,
Mike and I are going to give you one surprise
playoff team in each conference. Okay, and I'll kick things
off in the AFC. And they're a team that the
more the more I look at them, the more I

(22:17):
believe that they are going to be much better than
people anticipate. In a the right kind of change can
surprise a lot of opponents for a year. Right, if
a team makes enough changes for a year, you'll be
able to surprise opponents, especially play in a week Division
Tennessee Titans playoff team this year, I finally sold you

(22:41):
on my love of Will Levice. But Will Levis was
good last year. He flashed, right, he flashed, So you
see that clearly he has the talent and he loves mayonnaise,
so you know he's got He's got a very special
place in my heart. Brian Callahan is exactly what he
needs right to draw out what is from him. It
wasn't both. It's not bo Cala. When we go into
birthday parties for us, Wow, you don't need a man

(23:01):
of party. You just hear them to show up at
the meeting. Look, you're talking about Calvin Ridley, Tony Pollard,
a couple of additions, Okay, but these are huge additions
for a team that already had a couple of good playmakers.
They'll be sneakily good. They don't play in a great division.
They overhauled their roster, a different offense, philosophy. Their biggest
weakness last year defensive backs, the secondary. They made a

(23:24):
lot of changes. It can work. They will be an
under the radar team that we go how are they
winning every week seventeen fourteen, twenty to sixteen, twenty four
to twenty. But they will do it. They will do
it enough to sneak in the playoffs. Became a big
believer that Levis can take another little leap and he
has enough weapons to win a division that honestly is
a little overrated. So gimme the Titans to be a

(23:46):
surprise playoff team in the AFS.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
I dig the cut of your jim. I am looking
straight down the road here and beautiful sofar stadium.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
I'm gonna take harball.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
I'll buy in that there's a wild card berth that
the run, toughness, all of that equates to enough wins
to eke in to the playoffs in a crowded AFC.
It'll be a dog fight because it's gonna come down
to the final two weeks. So get your popcorn ready
because there's gonna be four or five teams vying for
those final slots.

Speaker 2 (24:16):
But I'm looking at the receiving cord.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
Obviously, it is bereft of the big names that you're
You become accustomed to a couple of guys that are
reclamation projects, guys like we talk about McConkey, we talk
about Josh Palmer, a couple of guys that I think
can make an impact. You've got bookend tackles that get
things going for Justin Herbert and a run game even
if those other guys don't stay healthy. Yeah, gust the

(24:40):
bus and JK. Dobson brought Hassan Haskins. It's like Harbro's
going who was pretty good? That ran the ball from Hey,
Mike Hart is gonna come in and Ben, you're gonna
find a bunch of guys. And then you got Vidal
and he's this sneaky back end fantasy game because he's
the last man standing.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
Yeah but he was. He also was, but for all
the pub he got in the preseason, he wasn't great.
You know, I mean you're still coming in with it's
also the preseason. Yeah, yeah, I'll take it all with
a grain of salt. Yeah. But signing San Haskins, I'm like, wow,
really okay? No, no, no, no, no no.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
That is preemptively looking over at the guys that you
got from your brother. Fancy knowing that you're going to
need as many capable bodies as you get.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
I did no research. My brother told me these guys
were good. They haven't played in the game in a
full season in their entire career. That's the thing that
my brother, without getting on the internet over the dinner party.
Oh so you want to so Gus Edwards okay and
JK Dobbins, Yeah, let me just get No, you don't
even get online, dn't. I'll say it right now. Yeah, No,
they're good. Really, yes, Okay, I they call the one
guy the bus. I'm not opening my computer. I'm not.

(25:40):
I trust you, I'm not opening my computer. It's a
bit of a reach, and maybe I drink a little
bit of the kool aid, but I think the way
they want to construct this offense, we get enough balance
and the defense gives you enough to get you over
all right now, and you just signed Dick or the
Kicker for twenty two million AR lot of money, paying

(26:01):
a kicker more than anybody except our quarterback. Exactly now.
I wanted Mary Mack to take the music out because
I'm going to tell you something very seriously, and I
want you to take me seriously. I want you to
look at me and understand that I have nothing but
your best interests at heart. Okay, understanding to say this.
And I believe I know the show before us got
a new guy. He doesn't worked this one untill come on,

(26:23):
if you would, let's meet the brand new co host.
But let me tell you this, Mary, do we have
do we have a song for to help Mike Carmen
with my NFC surprise playoff team pick do we have now?
I was playing the song No, no, what's there's no
song playing? No, I'm saying the I had the beta right, no,
and then there was no music. And then then I

(26:43):
asked you, hey, have a song by that group that
I told you about. That's the name of the city
in the third largest market in the country. Do you
know the third largest.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
Marketing country The second city path Fish is Caryah Yeah yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
Yeah, So way you want a song of Chicago? Yeah, yeah,
buy them. Yeah, there's a song by a guk of Chicago. Yes,
they're very popular in the seventies and eighties. Wait what
they're very popular? Wait? What's the song again? You get
twenty five or six to four? Uh, you can give
me that doesn't matter. Saturday in the Park, It doesn't matter.
You can even get anything by Peter Sata in his
solo career. Yes, Peter Satara is. Yes, he's the lead

(27:23):
singer of h Get It All for the Glory going
back to Karate Kid Part six. But I'm telling you
Chicago Bears playoff this year just like the Florida State
fan last night, book it, But Chicago look you heard it, Mary,
you got it on tape. Offensively, he goes wrong, you

(27:44):
know what he's gotta do. Chicago is loaded, man, they are.
They made all the right moves. On offense. They surrounded
Caleb Williams with so much talent. They go three deep
at receiver. They have the established star, they have the
aging star, they have the young star deep at running back.
You're talking about a guy last year and Rashawn Johnson
they drafted to be the number one guy. He's the

(28:05):
number three guy. And of course this isn't a Sheryl
Swoops conversation. I'm going to mention Caleb Williams, who the
NFL isn't ready for. He's gonna be a problem right away.
And every week we're gonna look and say, look at
this wow throw by Caleb Williams on the run, looking
one way, facing the other, his foot is entirely bent
in the opposite direction, and here's a touchdown path to

(28:27):
DJ Moore in the back of the end zone on
the other side of the field. The Bears offense is loaded.
Now on defense, they'll struggle a little bit, but once
because it's a it's a new defensive back room, and
they need a little bit of time because of injuries
and and everything. This summer. I saw a lot of
the guys saying, hey, just give us a little bit
of time. But this is a pretty good defense, man.
Did you get that? And this is a really good offense.

(28:50):
If it was on after the first episode, I didn't
because I stopped because it was so boring. Don't bring
up something bad with the Bears when I'm saying something
good about the Bears. What the hard bad Bear season? Good?

Speaker 1 (29:02):
No?

Speaker 2 (29:02):
But their defense is pretty good. I look, they talk
they defense. They talk big about having a top five defense,
but you know, secondary is a big deal. Getting guys
back and getting them healthy and having them time to gel.
They're gonna be in a lot of shootouts early. The
defense will be better later. And the Bears are going
to the playoffs. Your Bears are going to the playoffs.
My Bears. There will be a Saturday in the Park

(29:25):
in Chicago in December with the playoff game. Now.

Speaker 3 (29:28):
You know they do start off against your Titans. Yeah,
that's okay, three games against the games. There's twenty five
games in the season. Now, if everybody's fine, don't.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
Worry about it.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
The as Andine nature of the scheduling mechanism anymore. They
for their first six or seven games are against the
the AFC South. All right, my team going deep? Ready, Okay,
it finally clicks for Kyler Murray. Oh that desert. I
am going deep and it's w receiving.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
It's right.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
Oh, we're going crazy, right, we're going a little bit
off the grid.

Speaker 2 (30:06):
Yeah, you know we're not going chalk. Okay, sure, sure, because.

Speaker 3 (30:10):
There's just a lot of teams that are in the middle,
and you can argue many of them for a division title.
I'm not arguing for Arizona to get to you.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
No, No, this is surprise.

Speaker 3 (30:21):
An eight eight and one, Sure, eight and one back
door you're lay had a tie, damnit?

Speaker 2 (30:27):
I could go eight eight and one, I'd feel really,
I would, because that would mean Tyler Murray got through
the sea, right, smart guy, where's the tie? Tell me
where the tie is? Already? Tell me tell me? Although
it doesn't, Arizona Seattle sounds like a tie waiting to have.
I think so like Arizona Seattle in Arizona late game
on a Sunday, only one going on at the end
that game sounds.

Speaker 3 (30:47):
Like I gotta be honest, that was the other team
I was kind of considering, but I didn't want to
hurt you because I know you already fired their coach.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
Well he's not ready, he's not ready. I mean, it
has five fights in a day. Don't we go to
double overtime? No, that's it, that's it. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (30:59):
I think that's the one that that stands out right.
I mean, or maybe a game against the Panthers that
could be a tie. Here you go December eighth, Yeah,
Seahawks at Cardinals.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
Yeah, there you go, there's your tie. There's your ti
there's your tie. Only game left, only one going on
getting deep into Sunday Night football pre show to where
hey that's not watching the very beginning. There you go,
there's your time. So there it is our surprise playoff
teams for this year in the NFL. Twitter at how
about a Fresca at Swollen Dome, The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon. The Jason Smith Show

(31:32):
with my best friend Mike Harmon. Love from the Tirack
dot Com studios. So there's our surprise playoff teams. We've
got more football on the way history made today, but
not the kind of football history, a team really wanted
to make It's next Right here Jason and Mike Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
Like do I want to see Beatlejuice Beetlejuice? Yeah, I
don't know. I think I kind of have an interest
in seeing it just because there's been absolutely nothing that's
come out, but it's been hard. Like I love going
to the movies, I've not been inspired. Well, you know
what I think now is when we're getting the the
after effects of the strike. Like this is when I

(32:18):
know said the end of summer is normally this slow time.
We have not gotten anything, and I think we're seeing
the end of the This is where the strike is
coming in because like I haven't been to the movie
since Dead Pulling Wolverine. No, but that's the thing.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
I saw that a second time instead of hey, this
is new release, Like you start looking for the extra
the one liners that maybe you didn't hit his hard
the first time, or you know, the cameos and the
and the random bits that now trickled out over the internet.

(32:50):
But in terms of new releases like, I've not been
inspired by.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
Any of it.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
It's like half ass horror movies. That thing with Macavoy
just needs to come out and die. Yeah, okay, sure,
they're already telling me I can rent it and buy.

Speaker 2 (33:04):
Yeah. Trap is what they did to get you to
go see that movie. I don't. You don't need to
go see you can get me out. Don't to go
see Trap. You don't trap. Hey, I just looked at
the black did not find me. I dare I just
look at the fact that I went to Trap, and
I remember I had popcorn and I had bunch of
crunch and I had a great slurpee. Did you get
that bunch of crunch in there?

Speaker 1 (33:24):
No?

Speaker 2 (33:24):
No, no, no no, I just died. I do it separate?
But I mixed the slurp. I get like the half
cherry half cons best. That's the best. Uh. Now, today
we saw something that we've we've never really seen before.
And part of it is because of the schedule. But
Florida State, which has started the season zero and two,
has dropped from the top ten to completely out of
the top twenty five in one week. It is stunning.

(33:47):
It is shocking. It is not unexpected after the egg
they laid last night against Boston College. Yeah, well, Blackman says, I,
Oh tell him. I said, hey, well, Blackman's hey, what
kind of ball wine is he send to me? Tell
him what kind of whines he sent him for saying
good thing, mentioning his name on the radio, forgiving him
that that well coached Boston College defensive backfield. I'll tell
you what.

Speaker 3 (34:08):
They were down a couple of guys due to injury,
and they really pulled through.

Speaker 2 (34:11):
Let me tell you, I just like that when Jim
Morra Senior was on the air and Jim Morre Junior
was the what happened to be the defensive coordator of
the Seahawks, and Jim Moore was always doing interviews. He
was on all the time, and he would always come
on and he would say, you know, can I get
a second to talk about that well coached defense in Seattle?
Like that? To talk about it sound is kind of fun.
So I feel like that, Hey, let's talk about that
well coached secondary in d College. But got to look

(34:34):
after our friends. Let me come on. The new Top
twenty five is out. To no one's surprise, Georgia strengthens
their hold on number one. Ohio State is number two.
It's going to be hard to see either of those
teams get moved off those numbers for quite a while now.
Not to get caught up too much in the in
the rankings, but we do because Florida State. What happened.

(34:54):
It's an interest. But I really wish the AP and
coaches polls meant something because because they haven't meant anything
in a long time. They come out for two reasons,
for public relations and salesmanship. Right. The two reason for
public relations is to help hype games where you see, hey,
this is an eight versus four game, right, let's watch

(35:15):
this because if they were done well, is this a
good game? Is an m Alabama game? No, it's it's
seven and two. Of course it's great. So yes, it's
used a pr and hype big games, and for salesmanship
because hey, I want to be sold my team as good.
I like looking in the top twenty five and seeing
my team's name there. Now I'm Syracuse, So I got
a couple more weeks to get there, you know, maybe
about ten more touchdowns fro Kyle mccorden, we're there. But

(35:37):
I like seeing that. I like seeing my team in
the top twenty five. It's fun. I like seeing it.
Hey are we moving up? Are we moving down? Are
we in the also receiving votes category? Which is always
a deal? Deal now because for me, like that's kind
of the new top twenty five is Hey, we're in
the also receiving votes category. They think we could be
one of the top forty teams in the country. But
those are the only pody I have. This. Yeah, even
the BCS poll meant something because okay, this is where

(36:00):
you're looking for the playoff and where teams are ranked.
Even though they could do anything they wanted towards the
end of the season, it still gave you a better
idea of what the playoff committee fought about certainteys. Well, hey,
is is Cincinnati really any good? No? Look there ranked fifth?
Is this team any good? Even that meant something, But
like these Poles, they're useless, right, Like I said, Wow,
it's just fluff and it's fun. So I like the

(36:20):
app Poles, but understand it, really they really don't mean anything.

Speaker 3 (36:23):
It's all a matter of where you come into the equation.
Right preseason, it's all let's hype it and look at
our schedule and Look, look how good or or bad
a season may be, particularly when you're talking sports talk
radio and television coaches on the hot seat. Look at
he's not getting out of the getting out of October alive.
He's got four top twenty five games, and three of

(36:44):
those are on the road.

Speaker 2 (36:45):
You know that kind of thing. So you get that.

Speaker 3 (36:47):
It's the selling from the schools themselves. I mean, look
at our rankings year after year. We're a consistent program.
We get guys to the NFL all these things, but
we're a consistent program. We're playing in bowl games that
still matter and everything else, and then week to week. Yeah,
it's programming, it's hype. It's it's all about salesmanship, because

(37:10):
what do we pick. We picked top twenty five games.
That's where you spend a lot of your attention. You
look at the conference that your favorite team is in,
and then you look at top twenty five battles and
how things play out, and then it's good and bad
beyond that Week.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
One and two.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
At this point with nil and transfers way it is,
who the hell knows. Oh yeah, it's like all right,
it's just going to be really good again. I mean,
up ten spots.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
We know that LSU is really gonna be good again? Yeah? Right?
Do we know that? We? Historically they have been? But
are they?

Speaker 1 (37:41):
Are they? A nine? D?

Speaker 2 (37:42):
Ryan Kelly is mad if you can give number wins
based on how he pretended to be sorry that he
looked like he was after the worst acting I've seen
in recent memory. Oh, I hurt my hand banging it
on the table. Can you do the hand banging thing?
Do we have a sound effect for that? Banger? Come
on in, stunt hand banger, come on and bang it. Okay,

(38:03):
thank you, stun hand bady. We need to add some
more liver spots. Your your hand doesn't quite match up
with coaches? Oh look, I wish it meant something, but
it's just it's just fun to throw out there and
debate and see and how high is a team, But
really it means absolutely nothing. It's like eating cotton candy.
You know, it's not It's not the dessert that you

(38:23):
feel full. I just had a nice, great, big Sunday,
but it kind of something you ate and at the
end you feel like, ah, that's empty calories.

Speaker 3 (38:30):
You know what, though, I read a really nice article
last week of how cotton candy was invented by a dentist.

Speaker 2 (38:35):
Really, yes, it's a game. It's a game a man
all again. I mean, look at that kid that was
in willy Wonka. He needed to got a couple of
big football Bowl predictions. Next Fox
