Speaker 1 (00:58):
Everybody here celebrating with Friday night lights on all four televisions.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Well, you know, not the TV show, the movie.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Uh spoiler spoiler spoiler spoiler spoiler, what do you do?
I'm just saying, spoiler spoiler Permian does not win. That's
one of the things I liked most about the movie.
Well they had to get kind of they kind of
didn't win in real life. I get that book was
based on That doesn't mean it always does the same
(01:24):
thing in a movie.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
Did they wait? No, it was we followed them for
a year. No, I understand. They can't make stuff up. Rude,
rudey can't.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
No, they still won the game. They can't hear stuff, coach,
they can't. That's all stuff. You can't make up wins
and losses. Wait a minute, didn't they lose to Dallas Carter? No,
they won, but I ain't touchdown.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
It is a fictionalized account. You could do whatever the
hell you want.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Tim McGraw is not Don Billingsley's dad in real life.
That is not true.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
That's not not act at all. But yeah, look this
is this is where it is. Now, give me some
find of football on television. Well, we got Friday Likes.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
Put it on.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
We went at our appetite with Week zero a couple
of weeks ago. Right, we got that handful of games,
all sorts of upsets. Then we had Week one, which
culminated with another Florida State loss. We watched Boston College
just run the hell out of the football and take
them down and knock them out at the top twenty
five and now we bridge the forty eight hours. I'm
(02:27):
sure any given Sunday or Draft Day can be found
on TV as well. Uh, you have draft days more
of a that's not ready for this season. That's an
off season thing. Yeah, you can't really say, oh ready, Yeah,
that's an off season thing.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
Man. Draft days off a long.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Any given Sunday long, anything that plays football is a season.
But that's a show about the draft and Gela. It's
gotta be in the off See, we need we need
something to feed the three or sixty five day football,
So like we need some off season football movies.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
That's one of them. Wouldn't you think that.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
I mean Jennifer Garner at some point she's gonna shive
somebody like she's Electra. I mean, all of that comes
into play. It's part of the larger universe. I didn't
see her doing that to Ellen Burston. Wow, just bleeding
from the head. It's really can't take it anymore. That
escalated quickly.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
We're not putting his ashes on the field today. And
then Boomier comes the sky.
Speaker 4 (03:21):
Yeah, no, I'd get the theme music going in the
whole day and there's Gambit mumbling over in the corner
and she's pregnant in.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
The movie too. Still at that, Poor Ellen Burston. Wow,
didn't see that. But no, it's it's those baby and
now this.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
Yeah, but forty eight hours, man, we're talking final throws
of fantasy drafts. So get those last ones in.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Is today? If you had to say this, you probably
know this better than me.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
If you had to say the day of the year
that was most popular for fantasy football drafts, would it
beat Tuesday night before the season?
Speaker 3 (03:53):
Yeah, two days before. I gotta think that this is the.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
Day it'd be the percentage wise, you'd have the block
between Friday night and today being the percent highest percentage
of drafts being done. But the Tuesday after Labor Day,
everybody's back to work. Yeah, maybe today taking because you
need one day.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
You need one day to figure things out and who's
gonna be in, who's gonna be out, who's not playing.
You can't have it the night before, but two days before.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
You know the folks that do it just hours before
the kickoff, just saying all right, last minute, let's go.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
All right, it's eight o'clock.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Draft is over lock your lineups in Cheeps kickoff in
two minutes. But I don't know if I want to
cost you know, I don't go. All right, fine, but
I'll play Juju Smith Schuster in one of my slots.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
I don't care. I just want to play football. I'm
gonna play every chief I have. I don't know you
want to do that. I'm still playing them. I don't go.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
I mean, look, you got the pick six. I'm gonna
play a sky More nicely done. Know what Gray's going in? Everybody, now,
you gotta know what Gray sighting. I'm gonna take the
fifth running back on the depth. He's gonna get two carries.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
No like, but I'm winning. I'm winning going into Sunday.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
Well, I mean you can get into a daily fantasy.
I've had you just a Thursday night game.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
I had five guys going. I got twelve points total
from those five guys. I'm winning going into Sunday.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
Yeah, but psychologically you can carry that win for seventy
two hours. Then I actually don't because you do have
Friday's game.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Yeah, I don't forget. We'll get together later on get
you now.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
We will get to more NFL coming up in a second.
But sometimes there are numbers so big they just can't
be ignored. There's also deficit. There's also plays that happen
that just can't be ignored. Uh, let me take you
back earlier tonight, a little game that happened between the
Orioles and the White Sox. Orioles and the White Sox.
The Orioles are winning the game already. Harmon's gonna stab
(05:47):
me with a pen. I feel like the Christmas episode
of The Bear. Is he still holding the fork? Yes, okay,
I want to say I'm thankful for the people at
this table yet.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
Holding the fork. I really want to do that at
Thanksgiving once, like someone giving and melling the fork. I
think I think you could pull that.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Just like John byern Clove and hold the fork. I'm
gonna throw it at you. Same part of the Marvel universe. Hey, sorry, Graham,
Sorry Graham, I know I couldn't. I couldn't not do it.
You look too much like Jamie Lee Curtis. So basses
are loaded. Uhuh for the Orioles in a game they're
winning already. Yeah, it's a big moment here, and as
(06:29):
happens when the White Sox are playing because it's been
a lot of losses.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
But again the number is going to stun you. We're
gonna talk about in a minute. Uh.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
You generally try to fill time while a pitch is
going on and and and would tell fun stories and
keep people entertained. So bass is loaded and there is
a pop up down the third base line. There is
a fun story we're told already in progress.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
But don't worry. You'll get the gist of exactly what
happens on the play. Yeah, And the truth is, if
you have great stuff, you could challenge over the white
part of that played a little bit more. Let you stuff,
just play it. If you don't, you better figure out.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Oh no, oh my goodness, the White Sox have just
gone full white socks.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
And and then as pop up ends.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
In a collision, Miguel Vargers is down with his face
and his glove.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Three runs have scored.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Scotti Scheffler on the call. There, White Sox Television Network, Yeah,
that's exactly what happened. It looked like three White Sox
players were going to collide in the outfit and the
flyball down the third base line. Only two players, including Vargas,
who did get up and stay in the game, so
he was okay, but what should have been a pop up? Yes,
White Sox going full White Sox. Instead, it lands three runs,
(07:41):
score and the Orioles go on to a very easy
victory over the White Sox and retake first place in
the AL.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
All right, I'm gonna read you a quote that was
made in the ninth inning of this game. Okay, Ken
time filling is the quote?
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Why can't this game be old?
Speaker 4 (07:57):
John Shriffin quote? This has certainly been a tough stretch
for the Socks.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
Unquote. Is the stretch from April till now? Steve Stone?
Is that the stretch? I should say? All right, so
let's go into that inning.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
What kind of stretch you're talking about? Well, two thousand
and five till now, it's been a tough stretch ever
since we're swept the Astros. It's really been downhill. But
you have a strikeout to start that inning, all right.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
Nestrini is in and he would eventually throw seventy two
pitches before departing in his in the you know, the
second inning, strikeout, walk, pop out, the third, okay, cool
got two out, man on first, another walk, wild pitch
goes so second, third, Santander walks, and then Cowser walks.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
The run scores. Now it's for nothing.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
And then Eloy Jimenez, former White Sox, yeah player says
I'm gonna get my revenge.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
Yeah, blank, you for getting rid of me, even though
his revenge game.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
Yeah, first pitch swinging, Yeah, that was a ball. When
the guy is no control whatsoever at walking.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
When things aren't going your way, they are not going
getting out of the inn. They popped it up.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
No, nope, you got a guy holding his face because
he gets hit.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Yeah, and three round score. Now baseball, here's the number
that that is. Just like we talk about history and
it's not history a team wants to make, but it
is history. The White Sox are now thirty one and
one on nine. Yeah, okay, so it's one hundred and
forty games. I got twenty two left. They got to
win another ten games to avoid being the worst team
of all time in Major League games ball. Okay, so
(09:36):
they gotta win eleven if they want to not if
they want to break that mark. So they have to
go five hundred. This is a team that's playing two
twenty one baseball. They have to go five hundred. It's
not happening, all right. So all this conversation of will
the White Sox finish as the worst MLB team of
all time, that's no longer a debate. The debate is
(09:57):
how many games are they gonna lose. They're gonna blow
past one hundred and twenty games the Mets lost in
nineteen sixty two. They're gonna say, hey, if we're gonna
set this record, we're gonna do it and put as
much distance between us and whoever comes next as possible,
Like when Emmitt Smith went to the Cardinals. I want
to make sure I don't care, but if I run
for five hundred yards, that's five hundred more yards. Barry
Sanders asked to get if he's gonna catch me somewhere, right.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
That's what this is. If I put the over under
at one hundred and twenty five losses for the White Sox,
that's another sixteen losses and left that's them going six
and sixteen. Okay.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
If I put the over under at one twenty five,
I'm taking the over. That's how many. That's stunningly high.
Of how many losses they're going to have, one twenty
five is now going to be the target. Where we
think they're gonna finish at. They're not gonna break it
by a game. No, they're gonna break this thing with
like a week left to go in the season. Like
(10:53):
Otani getting fifty to fifty, it was a week left
in the season. Otani's at fifty to fifty. Yeah, he's
got no uh, nothing to worry about. No drama, no intrigue,
no anxiety enough. No White Sox will lose that game
number one, one, twenty one. This will be a you know,
two weeks to go in the season with that.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
Now, here's where this gets difficult when you look at
the rest of their schedule.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
Wait, wait, did you just say for the White Sox,
here's where this gets no, no, no for them To get
to the thought.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
Okay, I thought this is where things get no for
the White That's why I drew you in because I'm
gonna explain you know how this could go again.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
So what you just said, tell you.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
Where things get really tough for the White Sox is
when they play every.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
No, no, no.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
This is this is where it gets tough for your
one hundred and twenty five bar You.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
Know what, it gets really tough for the White Sox
when the umpire says, play ball, stand you with my pen.
You know what it gets tough for the White Sox
is when both managers bring out the lineup. I'd stop
doing it if I was size more. You know what
it gets really tough for the White Sox is when
you look at the weather and go, no rain in
the forecast tonight.
Speaker 4 (11:56):
That's a pretty good line. Should keep that one. You'll
have to chuckle later in the in the week. So
here you go. You've got one more game against the Orioles.
You got three against Cleveland, three against San Diego, three
against Boston, three against Detroit. These are all teams fighting
for the playoffs. All good teams fighting for the playoffs.
Here's the rub. You got three games against the A's, okay,
(12:21):
and six more games against the Angels.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
And the Angels are not very good either. No, no,
they're not.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
Very See this is where there's a potential for chaos. Okay,
So let's you can beat the Angels a bunch.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Let's say they split the series with the Angels and
they win one game against the A's.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
That's four. Get those fours up. They need they need
a couple more.
Speaker 4 (12:43):
Some ways, steal two games. Can they steal two games from.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
From every team fighting for the playoffs? Can they steal
two games? They steal two of those thirteen?
Speaker 4 (12:54):
Man, if I shook my magic eight balls, I'm sure
it would say what the hell?
Speaker 3 (12:59):
Who are you?
Speaker 4 (13:01):
I don't think you can fit that many words into
the magic eat all window there, but it would try.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
G L good luck. One hundred and twenty five. I'll
take the one hundred and twenty seven, one hundred and
twenty eight, I might.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
I don't know. That's a tough that's to take the
under one. I'll take the Yeah, the five.
Speaker 4 (13:20):
Six against six against the Angels, though, Man, but it's.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
One of those it's you say it like they could
go win and win all six against the night.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
He's not doing They're not doing it. I'll give you
a look. They haven't.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
They're not even close to find maybe they win one
of those kids against the Angels.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
It's been a.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
Horribly fun season though, to watch, because you got a
new you got a new announcer who every night he
steps in it.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
What's the best part of the game. Well, the announcer
is not bad. But yeah, no, no, no, he's not good.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
You have the campfire milkshakes, not that I can eat them,
but I can revel in the fact that, yeah, that's
the MVP of the season.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
Crochet's been pretty good.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
Yeah, okay, how he didn't get you know how he
was able to keep himself from getting spun off. So
it's one of the great things of lore.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
So it's kind of like when I went to see
Trap and the movie was terrible, but I was excited
about the great slushy that I have.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
You gotta okay, yeah, all right, look again. It goes
back to.
Speaker 4 (14:15):
The find your wins mantra. Buddy, Yeah, is that I've
watched a lot of White Sox baseball.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Gonna sit in an air conditioned room and maybe close
my eyes as I watch a bad movie and drink
a good slushy.
Speaker 4 (14:25):
But that is three hours a day, either watching it
directly or listening to it. Yeah, it's a lot of
my hours I'm not getting back. I'm sorry, buddy, but
it's making me appreciate the good times more and appreciate
the Bears because they're starting Since one twenty five lost,
that's that's that's an incredible number to contemplate.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
One hundred and twenty Wait on the odds are the
Bears are going to make the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
I was told, wow, uh, let's see bigger number yards
rushing by the Bears week one, or number of losses
by the White Songs.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
It gets tight. I'll take the rushing yard zones, rush
the total Rushtaurant run at twenty five.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
Okay, yeah, you're giving me swift bro Sean Herbert and
and Caleb Williams.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
Yeah, but but you realize they're gonna throw the ball
a lot might not run the ball as much as
they need to. Yeah, but been over over one twenty
five years. Okay, all right, I'll take twenty five exit
out about a Fresca exit swollen down the Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. Yeah, Mary Mack
getting into guns and roses. It's like she took off
her headphones and put them near the near the microphone.
(15:34):
Oh sorry, listen to music.
Speaker 5 (15:36):
I was on accidents.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Coming up next, we got more big NFL news. We
got a crazy story out of the NFL today and
an MVP discussion I didn't quite think we'd have, but
we'll have it.

(16:48):
this to celebrate a headline I didn't think was possible
a couple of months ago. I'm going to crack open
here a half hour ago on the show. But here
is the diet coca victory for me tonight. Here you
the diet coke of victory.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
I sip from the can of joy.
Speaker 5 (17:07):
Wait do it closest? So it's like asmr.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
Ah, what is that? Can we say that on the radio?
Speaker 5 (17:12):
Asmr I don't know.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
What that is?
Speaker 1 (17:14):
What is that? Also? Stupid men react? Angels speak for yourself.
Must score runs.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
That's what it is. There A that's sorry. There you go,
that's what it is.
Speaker 5 (17:28):
You a m SR series. You just messed it up
in two seconds.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
I just said it. Angels must score runs.
Speaker 5 (17:33):
But it's as MR.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
Angels score runs must Yoda doing that?
Speaker 5 (17:39):
Wouldn't it be Angels score must run.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
Angel score must run? Offense? No good injured rendon is
play never does gone otani is.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
She put it in one of those tanks with the
robots that are fixing stuff. They get Rendon right.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
Losses lead to fear. Fear leads to suffer.
Speaker 4 (17:59):
It's a it's angels, comma score more runs?
Speaker 3 (18:03):
There you I'm still drinking from the die. Cory put
the prayer hands emoji after it? Or what headline? I
didn't think yet we got we got a big figure,
a bunch of headlines which no, no.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
No, this is this is uh, this is my best one. Hey,
because I saw it. When I saw it on ESPN
dot Com, I said, Wow, we've made it. We've really
made it. Lindor adds to MVP case with thirtieth home
run in Mets win.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
Ah, given the guy that wrote that headline be fire.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
Wait, hang on, now, this is not just me Mets
fan telling you this. Uh, I'll tell you it's been
the last couple of days. Lindor has gotten a lot
of run for MVP because of the way he's played.
He's been phenomenal. Book Showalter has talked about it. There's
gonna be a run for a few days of well
(18:54):
Lindor plays the field. His defensive run saved his impact
on the game defensively. His f war is higher than
Otani's because of that.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
Anytime you can also say f war f war, it
sounds like it sounds like it's a good slogan too,
f woar f wour.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
So you can make an argument that Lindor is gonna
be and look, I'll tell you this is a Mets
fan with that, I mean Otani's gonna be fifty to fifty.
He's gonna hit fifty home runs and steal fifty stolen bases.
It's not been done in the history of the game.
And I love all the made up things for Lindor.
He's the first guy in history to have three straight
thirty home run seasons. Who else has done thirty twenty
(19:32):
twenty and fifteen steels and five sacrifice bunts like you can, no, no, no,
we're doing these stuff up. But we're doing this stuff.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
With him like we did with Caitlin Clark scoring in
at Iowa. Yeah, and like we do with some of
these streaks, and for both her and for Angel Reese
and Asia Wilson and everybody in sport.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
We'll do it.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
We'll start with the NFL and it'll happen starting Thursday,
where there's just the arbitrary be getting an end points
because they would be the first or second to be
able to do something like that. And it also feels
like you're doing a Hall of Fame case, like you're
hanging out with Jason Cole in that room. Yeah, you know,
he was the first guy.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
No one's having three season thirty five, thirty twenty eight,
twenty five, sixteen seven three two one in negative six.
No one's ever done that before, the list of guys
that have done that Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Tiger Woods,
and Rogers Hornsby.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
Like, I mean that's you know, that's we can make
stuff up.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
And I'll tell you this, if not for Otani, Yeah,
I can make a great case. Francisco Law, that's being wise.
He's second fifty.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
Like, you can't deny this is why, Like, it's great
of a season that Bobby Witt Junior is having. Aaron
Judge is blowing the doors off of everybody and say
what you want.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
Yeah, it's a great story for the Royals. The Yankees
are in first place, They're twenty games over five hundred. Right,
it's great at season as when Door is having the
Mets are still a game out of the wild Card,
and the Dodgers are at the top the National League.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
Leo tak fifty to fifty. I mean one hundred and
fifty years of Major League baseball we've never seen I mean, come.
Speaker 4 (21:06):
On, FanDuel minus four thousand, yeah or plus seven fifty.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
Now he's close. He's second, right, which I guk, He's great.
He's second.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
That's Great Ozuna a distant third at plus thirty five hundred.
Speaker 3 (21:17):
Who's having a phenomenal year, and he's plus three. Cruz
one of our favorites.
Speaker 4 (21:21):
I know. Eventually he's hundred and fifty to one and
Harper at one hundred and fifty to one. So and
then on the to just show you where Judge is
on the American League side, he's at minus forty five hundred.
Speaker 3 (21:35):
Whereas Bobby Witt is plus thirteen. He's thirteen to one.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
Yeah, it's still so like that gap is immense the
next play, but it's the same thing here one, then two,
and then a massive gap to three because Gunnar Henderson
is one hundred and twenty to one.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
And look at the year.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
He's phenop These guys are having unbelievable years and they're
not even close. And this goes to show you that, yes,
does defense matter. It does when you want it too.
Like if this, if this wasn't Otani is a dh Oh,
Francisco Lindora chorts up, Yeah, okay, but in a regular
does it really matter? If he was playing first base,
it wouldn't matter. Oh, but look at what he's saying.
(22:11):
It only matters when you wanted to matter. That's right,
Jose Ramirez, another guy. Right, it's gonna be a forty
forty nobody cares.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
Nobody cares. He's two hundred one forty forty. Nah, I
can't win the MVP.
Speaker 4 (22:20):
Really, two one teams in first place can't do it.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
No, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
Sorry, that's too bad, because Judge is gonna go seventy
one sixty and have a war of fourteen like me.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Come on, I mean, that's out good.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
I wish I could tell you that I could make
a great case for Lindor if not for sho Hey Otani,
I could do it, but I can't because again, fifty
to fifty man, not forty forty.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
Fifty to fifty. I feel like Jimmy in pulp fiction.
No trial, separation, no counseling. We're getting divorced, not forty forty,
not for fifty fifty. That's what it is. You were
mad at him earlier when he legged out a triple.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
Yeah, Otanni had a chance to maybe steal third base,
but no, no, I'm gonna get a trip.
Speaker 3 (23:01):
Start being sneaky. There's a double to the gap. Why
did he stop it first? Just stop and steal the
next time, and.
Speaker 4 (23:07):
Then the analyst goes, well, you know, historically pitcher X
has a very slow delivery, slow deliberate delivery delivery to
the plate, so otany will be off in pacing. Uh.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
We have that NFL story that, Hey, I have an
idea for two teams that they can get a lot
from the NFL because of what's going on. I know
what the Eagles and Packers can get from the NFL
in exchange for playing this game in Brazil on Friday.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
Well, now you're talking about it, I can help them, Yes.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
And it came to me after hearing Eagles defensive back
Darius Slay talk about how much he was looking forward
to Week one and the game in Brazil. First game
in South America. Friday night is the game we get,
the great game. We got the great game on there's
two big matchups because Packers up Eagles is a terrific
game with the top teams in the NFC coming into
(23:59):
the area and the boy.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
You wonder, what what kind of it, what's the game
going to be like in Brazil? What's going to be
like for the teams.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
Darius Slade did a podcast interview today and uh, talked
about how he is preparing for Friday Nights.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
Week more.
Speaker 7 (24:15):
Not am looking forward to it. I can't wait. But man,
I do not want to go to Brazil. And you
want to know why. I'm here to tell you why.
They already told us not to leave the hotel. They
told us we can't do too much going on because
it's the crowd.
Speaker 3 (24:26):
Rate is crazy.
Speaker 8 (24:27):
You know what I'm saying. I'm like, NFL, why don't
y'all want to send us somewhere with the crowdwright this
high and like we got the country, so you know,
the first thing people think is like something terbor can
possibly happen. I told my family, do not come down
there because I'm not gonna be nowhere to be found.
That would be in the hotel, chilling out of my business,
playing my game at the loan nine and a half.
Speaker 7 (24:46):
Hour flight, so I don't have no intentions on doing nothing.
I'm gonna eat hotel food.
Speaker 8 (24:50):
I'm doing everything.
Speaker 7 (24:51):
But they said, yeah, man, it's gonna be pretty crazy
down there.
Speaker 6 (24:55):
You know.
Speaker 7 (24:56):
The police said they gonna be, you know, try to
be the best they could possibly be, the top flight
security of the world. Create you know what I'm saying,
so we hope for that man, but I'll do go
down there to come down there with a win.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
I can't wait for week one, but I do not
want to go to prison.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
That's one of the greatest truth set Like you want
to talk, you got your thesis statement.
Speaker 3 (25:17):
And let's say, let's hear director of tourism for the
country Brazil Dark Slay breakdown what it's like to travel
to that amazing country.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
I'm sitting there pulling up crime statistics and reading off.
Ever since this game was announced, there was a little
bit of backlash and intrepidation.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
We had the whole thing over the colored green. Oh
it's gang.
Speaker 4 (25:38):
It's like, oh no, it's actually the soccer squads whatever,
and tradition and everything like that. But what happens in
the game of telephone, And always remember you never see
the retraction, right, someone gets accused of something, big deal,
big media firestorm, they get exonerated.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
Nine months later, it's back by worthy.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
Used cars are listed in a newspaper and nobody's doing
the full thing. Same thing with that green story. But
to this point, now you got the NFL with I'd
love to have heard the briefings. What was the video
that got sent out. What kind of memos that has
Darius Slay with this reaction.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
So here's the thing.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
We know you guys are looking forward to doing a
lot of stuff, but how about instead you stay in
the hotel.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Because it's not safe.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
Oh oh, okay, okay, okay, great like an airplane when
she says, we're also out of coffee.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
But here's the list of stuff we want to leave
the hotel to.
Speaker 4 (26:37):
All the movies and television shows and internet videos about Brazil.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
This is all the stuff I wanted to do, so dangerous.
We're gonna play a football game. Don't leave the hotel because.
Speaker 4 (26:49):
Of crime, Like I wanted to go see the originators
at the Brazilian.
Speaker 1 (26:53):
Butt Lift, And I get the NFL as trying things out,
just like they're trying out different streaming partners for the
next few years before or Hey, they go down the
road of.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
Guess what we're giving all our game?
Speaker 1 (27:04):
Sorry CBS, sorry Fox, Hey, we're going streaming with everything,
and Amazon's giving us one hundred billion dollars for the
next ten years. Like they're trying out different partners now
and in different ways. Peacock gets a game, Amazon gets
a few games. They're trying out different countries where they
can have the game and continue to grow it. So
I understand it. But boy, they really put these teams
(27:25):
in a spot where you're going someplace where it's not safe.
I'm telling my family don't even come so to help
things out, right, this is what the.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
Eagles and the Packers should ask for.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
They're gonna negotiate. Okay, we'll do you a squad, We'll
do you a solid. We'll play in this game, and
we won't say anything about what goes on in Brazil.
Speaker 4 (27:44):
What happens in Brazil stays in Brazil. Okay, the killer
spiders if I run into birds, the talk like the games.
And monkeys, yes, whether it's knife wielding monkeys.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
Are they gonna sing like Jamie Fox? Did you know?
Speaker 1 (27:59):
Let's say here's the things you want. I would say, Okay,
we'll play in this game, will do you solid, all right,
But this is I want no hard knocks for the
next five years. Okay, you can't put us on hard knocks,
the next five documentary about your experience in Brazil, not
even not even offseason hard knocks. No hard knocks the
next five years. Okay, home openers the next three years.
(28:21):
We open at home the next three years, and no
Thursday games next year. Oh well that's what I say. Great,
but you know what, the NFL will will survive. Nobody
wants today games.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
Don't play the Wednesday game. I said, no Thursday games,
no hard knocks day afternoon. You're gonna play Tuesday and Wednesday.
No hard knocks for five years, home openers the next
three years, no Thursday games next year. You will do
you put us? You're putting us in danger for this.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
I'm sure things are gonna be fine, but hey, push
the advantage when you have it. This is what we
want from you because we're doing this game. No hard knock,
home openers, no Thursday games. I kind of like the
cut of your gym.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
I like that. Do that, Go go get him, Howie Roseman,
go do it. Go see what you can pull off.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
And I can get a churrascaria near me, like all
I can eat. They come in once a week.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
Oh I see, I like that. I like that idea.
I like anytime it's gonna do all you can eat. Yeah, yeah,
I'm good for that.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
Endless supplies of meat like you like, they just bring
it over and cut it off in front of you, like, yeah,
you would you like?
Speaker 4 (29:25):
So, yeah, it's give me a big what is that
it is? Yes, cut off the floor. We're gonna do
that as a team. I think that would be a
fun team event. Meat we can consume.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
I gotta wait ifause my daughters would show up too.
Speaker 1 (29:37):
Yeah, but I gotta I gotta wait and not have
meat for like five days because I'm gonna eat so
much and I don't want to, you know, kidney stones
to come back. So I gotta wait until like and
then I gotta just down it with lemon after I'm done.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
So let me know.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
We'll make that happen. There's a couple of places nearby
that ready to go. Y'all can come to.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
Exit out about a fresco exit Swalling down The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Carmen Lot the tyrec dot Com
Studios straight ahead. You're not gonna believe who clinched a
playoff birth tonight. That's it, That's next Jason and Mike Fox.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
This is my Ringtone it's my ringtone.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
It's my ringtone forever ever since I saw it in a house,
I'm like, oh, I got to have him bop as
my ringtone.
Speaker 4 (30:25):
Well, I mean, your countenance really does rival his. I'm
a lot nicer to the people I work with in house.
Everybody's just trying to get the best out of him.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
Hey, he's a he's a He's a curmudgeon who has
a good heart under a lot of the things that
he does.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
It scarred.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
I will say, you know, you know Binging House. Now
here Becauzoe wanted to Binge House? Were in the last season?
Speaker 2 (30:48):
Wait wait, wait, you've got her BINGI wanted.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
To Binge House. Yeah, we always want want Well, what
what would be the impetus? I don't know. She just
wanted to Binge House. But there's a lot of things
of them, like ooh that would not make it. Now,
that would not make it. Oh, that would not make it.
Speaker 4 (31:05):
It's funny how quickly that happened, though, right, I mean,
because that's not a two decade old house.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
Is just was done like in twenty ten or twenty eleven,
something like that.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
Is it really that far?
Speaker 1 (31:15):
Yeah, it's been Yeah, it's been about ten years, been
watching it a little bit old. Well that's just what
because Chase has been on that Chicago med for like
a decade.
Speaker 3 (31:23):
That's point ay.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
Wait, wait, we did a DTaP. We got where we got.
We foll the meno globulins. They're all out.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
We ruled it out. That's like Chase's big We ruled
it out. We ruled it out, ruled it out. He
does play a mean jazz piano, though, does he. I
didn't know that big time, I though, you meant Chase.
Speaker 5 (31:40):
Now, So the show actually came out in two thousand
and four, and then.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
It was eight years, right, it was eight seasons, so
twenty twelve. Yeah, so about about twelve years. Yeah, it's
about twelve years ago. It's been out there. You go, okay, yeah,
uh htorical.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
Uh, that's okay, it's oh you wanted me to answer
that question. Guess who was in the playoffs after tonight?
Even though they didn't play Bears, not Bears the message.
Caitland Clark and the Indiana Fever are now officially going
to the w NBA Playoffs thanks to Las Vegas and
(32:16):
their big win over the Chicago Sky Tonight and Phoenix
beating Atlanta. These teams are now fighting it out for
the final Cup spot or two. The Indiana Fever are
going to the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (32:27):
Do you think the coaching staff and team celebrated a
little more when the Sky got trounced tonight to help
make that happen. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (32:35):
Look that's Look, it's a little bit of happiness. They're
way more of a rivalry than people want to say
it is. You can tamp it down all you want.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
But you see, look, look look at look at the
flagrant fouls that are committed against Caitland Clark from the
Chicago Sky. I mean you could tell the rivalry that
it is. But look tonight, and this is the thing
now right Vegas is in fourth place. They have an
outside shot at finishing third because they have of their
seven remaining games, six are at home. But really they're
probably gonna finish four, or they'll play in the four
or five game. They may they'll probably dross Seattle, most
(33:04):
likely in that first round series. But this is the thing,
you know, watching the Sky play tonight, another loss for
them and another double double for Angel Reese, who shot
four for twelve from the floor. Angel Reese is a
big WNBA star and she's gonna help carry the league
for the next decade.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
Okay, but.
Speaker 3 (33:26):
It doesn't matter how much you've watched the WNBA this year.
If you watched Caitlyn Clark play her last game and
Angel Reese play tonight, it is easy to see boy
who affects the game way more sure. Okay, it's easy
to see for all of this talk, like you don't
legally have to say Angel Reese's name when you bring
up Kaitlyn Clark. We're pushing more superstars. But but this
(33:48):
is how you create more stats.
Speaker 4 (33:50):
No, you know you do it. It's like remember when
we had the quarterback rating and suddenly ESPN had their
own quarterback rating they wanted to push. Yeah, they're doing
the same thing with their metrics in rookie leaderboards or
whatever else, trying to create another narrative. Yeah, I mean
people shout into the wind at them and hit them
up on X.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
Look.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
Asia Wilson is the best player of the WNBA and
we talked about that. Now Caitlin Clark needs to be
in that conversation. It's either her or Asia Wilson for MVP.
Likely Asia Wilson wins Coliners sandwiched in too. But hey,
when we said it, Hey, suddenly everybody's jumping out up
on that pay again information Street. Congratulations to the guys
who and everybody who's pulling that out Now. I feel
(34:29):
like all our WNBA takes have been taken by other people,
all of them, from that to this everything else. Right,
But no, but seriously, look, Asia Wilson's the best player.
But if you're talking about MVP, which is not Player
of the Year. Yeah, you can make a great case
for Kitlin Clark, just like you can make a great
case for Francisco Lindor. Again, show Otani, even though Otani
(34:50):
is the better hitter and he's having a magical year,
but you.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
Watch them playing.
Speaker 1 (34:54):
Look, Angel Reese is a great rebounder, but she doesn't
shoot at all. They don't run plays for her, they
don't run the offense through her. It's a much different
type of situation for her, en roll for her on
the team. So to hear the some of the analysts
who don't want to wait into it say, oh, it's
hard to talk about players who played different positions.
Speaker 3 (35:12):
No it's not.
Speaker 1 (35:13):
It's Caitlin Clark affects the game way more and has
way more of an impact on the game. And oh,
by the way, look at her team that was absolutely
terrible last year, thirteen and twenty seven, right up from
six to twenty two to the year. But thirteen and
twenty seven, where are they now?
Speaker 3 (35:28):
She was the big ad.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
Here they are at seventeen and sixteen, already in the playoffs,
all right, And you look at the Chicago Sky and
here they are with two top seven picks. And again
I'll say, how did Angel reach last till seven? Because
she is a phenomenal rebounder and the Sky are sitting here.
Maybe they make the playoffs, maybe they don't. They're eleven
to twenty.
Speaker 4 (35:44):
Ten, and missing Carter during this stretch has certainly affected
the Scots a lot of us because they have no offense.
She moves the ball to Fever now eighteen to one
to win the title. That was one hundred to one
at the Olympic break. That's gonna be a tough because
you're talking about the Fevers road being to beat Seattle,
(36:05):
then probably beat New York and then Connecticut. But you're
saying there's a chance that's gonna be tough. Man, you
want to build a legend let's go.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
Yeah. Uh so the fever in the playoffs. You got
a fever and the only prescription is more playoffs. Anger
out of this one, I'm sure exit out about a fresca.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
Mike and Swollen down the Jason Smiths with Mike Carmon,
My buddy Ben Maller coming up next. This is Fox
