This is the best of The Jason Smith Show with
Mike Harmon on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best friend,
Mike Harmon, I'm an ass man live from Thetirack dot
Com studios. A huge win for the Buffalo Bills tonight.
They beat up on the Dolphins thirty one to ten.
It is a not one, not two, but three touchdown
night for James Cook, punctuated with this forty nine yard

(00:53):
touchdown off a nice little swing pass from Josh Allen
late in the first half. Allen back to pass, He's
looking for James Cook. Oh my goodness, Darriff, Cookie's wide
open down to the thirty, the twenty, the ten. He
is an end zone and off goes to Cook and
it'll work through the middle through a hole and into
the secondary thirty twenty five twenty.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Ten five flips into the end zone for the touchdown,
forty nine yards for James Cook, his third touchdown of
the game.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Bill's radio network on the call. Seventy eight yards rushing
for him. Yeah, remember that was a rush. That was
a rush the way you set it up. Folks are like,
I want my other Josh Allen touchdown. I was, I was.
I was waving the tight shirt to get ready to
play the ad the one and a half.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
So I didn't get the answer.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Things going on there, But look, but here's Cook tonight, right,
seventy eight yards rushing. Couple of touchdowns. Didn't really play
a lot in the fourth door. Didn't need to caught
one pass for seventeen yards. That was a touchdown. Ray
Davies saw out of it. I mean Ray Davis, Ray
Davies really.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Hello la lo Yeah, nine kerries twenty nine yards for him, Lola,
la lo lo. He Josh Allen only had two carries
for two yards. Didn't need to put that in left
hand and peril. No, and look a toothless Miami defense today.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
But look, but let me give you a Bowl prediction
for the rest of the season.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Let's go.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
I don't think anybody really understands like what kind of
great year James Cook had last year. But I will
tell you this, and again, I don't know how bold
this is, because I think this is going to happen.
I'm pretty sure this is gonna happen just because of
where he is and where everybody else is. Don't be
surprised when James Cook has the best season of any

(02:34):
running back in the NFL this year. It sure okay
because number one, he gets the bell cow work right.
There's not a lot of guys to get bell cow
work right. Hand chan is right right, But how many
how many snaps are you gonna get? When moster gets healthy,
they got other guys they're bringing in. There's other guys
who are really good. Is Karen Williams's gonna stay healthy already?
Christian McCaffrey is not healthy. Who knows when he's going

(02:55):
to play. But James Cook gets the carries. He's the
bell cow. He also catches passes out of the back right,
so he's a full service guy. He only comes out
when he needs a breath and then they put him
back in. And with the way the Bills offense is
designed this year, It's going to be a lot more
Josh Allen James Cook oriented than it was Josh Allen

(03:16):
throwing the footballs to Fon Diggs. Now with Digs being gone,
they've now realized, Okay, maybe this is our way to
do it, kind of like a Ravens way where we
have a quarterback and Josh Allen's a little bit better
thrower of the football than Lamar Jackson. Not quite the scrambler,
but still he's able to run really, really effectively. When
you have a really terrific running back, that opens up everything.
And you saw the way they were able to win tonight.

(03:38):
The offensive line looked terrific. James Cook is going to
get the opportunity and when you look at what the
other players around the league are going to be splitting time,
not being belcous, James Cook is going to wind up
being the number one running back in the NFL this year.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
I think there's a lot of opportunity here. Certainly as
a receiver out of the backfield, his role is going
to be huge. Like we talked about it for fantas
purposes on the iWatch Flex podcast. You know I'm a
James Cook backer ado with Josh Allen and the Bills
in general. You've called me a homer for them, even

(04:11):
though I'm not from Buffalo. And other than wanting to
throw people through tables every once in a while, like
I'm a wweat star, you know, there's not a lot
of relations, but it's the same mentality if they still
want to grind where they can. Right we're talking with
Jay Glazer about the Steelers. Bills still want to have
some of that identity. Hell, it's embodied in Josh Allen
and the way he throws his body around for sure,

(04:32):
but as a runner receiver and as they work on
this receiving corps, you're gonna see a lot more from
the dual tight ends. You're gonna see Khalil Shakur, whose
efficiency with Alan continues. But yeah, James Cook's going to
be a part of it. The other guy I'd put
up there, and obviously Week one tough matchup for him
is your guy. I don't love the offensive line, but

(04:54):
I don't need to when I got a guy that
fast that if he can break containing, you ain't catching him.
And also a guy that's gonna ca a bunch of
balls out of the backfield. So I'll take Breese Hall,
but one one A would not be shocked, I see.
And the thing is, I love Breecee Hall would be
in my top three as well. But just with Rogers,
you know they're gonna fall in love with throwing the
football way more than you need to run it, and
it's gonna be raw when they meet a big play.

(05:15):
It's gonna be Rodgers on third down throwing maybe, and
maybe it's gonna be a big year for Breese Hall,
but they're gonna default to him through it. But the
thing with Rogers is if the downfield's working, think about
how much more dangerous Breeze Hall is. He doesn't need
to touch the ball twenty times to make Hay.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
I hope you know what. I hope you're right. I
hope I'm wrong. I'm not, but I hope you're right.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
You're gonna be wrong.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Love that.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Either that or it's a lot of Allen Lazard.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
Coming up to Okay, I hope you're not right about that.
Coming up next, we get back to the Big two
of injury. This is Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
It is over, He's not done.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
It is over in Miami where the Bills did it.
They beat the Dolphins thirty one to ten, a dominant
physical effort by the Bills. The big question what now
with to a tongue of I looa who left tonight's
game with the concussion? Joining us down the hotline? Nobody
better break it all down NFL. On Fox's own Jay Glazer,

(07:33):
who we all have a lot in common with, Jay Glazer.
We all woke up this morning here in southern California
to a big ass earthquake. Jay, how you doing man?

Speaker 5 (07:42):
Man? It was it was a episode. It was a
block away come out. Who there's literally one block away?
Kenon June we find I'm gonna.

Speaker 6 (07:53):
Give my address off.

Speaker 5 (07:56):
One block away and it was something like seven more
will it the house man? It's sorted shaking like crazy.

Speaker 6 (08:04):
And and then we heard things.

Speaker 5 (08:06):
Like fall up and break well. My wife was laying
in bed and like you get woken up so she
just jumped up to like run for covering out of
grab her and bring it back because I didn't know
what was broken in the house. Luckily, things that that
fellows just pictures and none of them smass, but one
of for a good thirty thirty seconds and then and
then we probably had about five or six you know,

(08:27):
after shocks. After that it was pretty wild. Yeah, it
was definitely wild.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
Oh yeah, no, and then you're up, like as much
as you want to go back, no, I'm up now,
I'm some stuff after that one.

Speaker 5 (08:36):
And then you know, here's what I love to look. I'm
a New York time, right, So first time I had
threads you know, out here in LA. But then you're
watching the news and people are like compaired or like
I tweeted it just to make sure every it is okay,
you know, and people are like, oh, that's nothing five
point two please, It's like you're earthquake shaming me. And

(08:57):
then like people on the news.

Speaker 6 (08:59):
Like, hey, uh, you know it was a really a
four point seven.

Speaker 5 (09:03):
It wasn't a five point two, and you know, a
fast the case and this is this like tell that's
how we feel, like, you know, it's like, hey, you're
something fall up in your house and may have well
it may have fallen off on around. There's just it's
pretty funny how people people react in LA. And again
I'm a New Yorker, so a one point zero for

(09:23):
me is like, oh damn, you take something from LA.
You can bring them to New York and you see
a couple of rats, they'll crap themselves.

Speaker 6 (09:31):
I'm okay with it, all right, Well.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
Hey, clearly, uh the earthquake hit Miami tonight in the
form of the Buffalo Bills as they come into this game,
maybe things are okay for them. Without Stefan Diggs, they
were physical, James Cook was really good. Like, all of
a sudden, the Buffalo Bills look like they might be okay. Jay,
what you know? What? What did you see with this?

Speaker 5 (09:50):
I thought they're gonna be like, oh long, and their
defense always been strong, and anytime you got a quarterback
Josh Allence, you're going to be okay.

Speaker 6 (09:57):
It doesn't you know.

Speaker 5 (09:58):
It's like, look just look at the Chiefs. They lost
Tyreek Hill and people said, oh my god, they're gonna
lose a weapon like that. And you know, a guy's
named the top ranked player in the league this year
on NFL Network. But obviously they've won two Super Bowls
without them, So it's it's more it's a quarterback driven league,
it's not a receiver driven league. And a guy like
Josh Allen, he is a stud and as long as

(10:19):
they have him, they're always going to be in it.
But you know, look, I don't overreact or underreact to
anything early on the season. Really, it's like, man, it
takes you know, a lot of people don't practice the preseason.
It takes a while to get going. But they are
definitely showing they're clicking a lot earlier. And I thought,
you know a lot of other teams are. They're they're

(10:40):
really they're looking good. They just and I think what
they needed was confidence and they're building it early.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Conversely, Jay, now we all you know, have the hold
our breath moment as to a tongue. Aboula has to
leave the field looked in good spirits as he met
with his teammates. But once again we're having discussions and
seeing the video playbacks of his previous concussion and yeah, listen, I.

Speaker 5 (11:04):
First of all, it's tough no matter what, right, it's tough,
and you go on, you want to make a play.
Understand it. Whenever you see a guy with that much,
you know, head trauma, you get concerned about it. And yeah,
I know, you see him and you're like, Okay, he's
walking around, he's up. But it doesn't it doesn't work
by time I've got knocked out in a foxy mask.

(11:28):
Guy that was I had a two month suspension. It's
probably worth not gona ever had. But I was up
immediately after doing an interview right there in the ring.
If I hadn't known it was going on, and I
kind of kind of did, but then it sinks in
after and so I don't want to like medically say
oh he's great here, it's not great. That was a
tough one. It was a tough one to see. Its

(11:49):
a tough one to watch. When his arm locked up immediately,
I'm like, go mo and Alf, Oh he's out, he's cussed.
And I think with a guy with a history like this,
you do. And I I said it's weak two. Whoever
it's weak to a weak twenty doesn't matter. You want
to make sure first and foremost the player is gonna
be right, that the humans can.

Speaker 6 (12:07):
Be a right jay, just to make sure not to go.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
Obviously we have to wait and see what the diagnosis
is going forward. But going back when you were there,
did did the Dolphins like was this a thing?

Speaker 7 (12:18):
Like?

Speaker 1 (12:18):
Did they Is that like in the back of my
minds Okay, hey two has got the concussion? Is that
is that top of mind thing for them that we
have to watch out for that or is that, hey,
we just want to go play football.

Speaker 5 (12:28):
Well no, I mean, look, when you go out there
in field, you have to look like they were going
on the fields and look, it was a situation where man,
two have to know better, like I gotta fly, I.

Speaker 2 (12:37):
Gotta protect myself.

Speaker 5 (12:38):
Yeah, you have to protect yourself, especially when you've had
these situations, when you have worked on it in the past.
You've got to Man, you've got to protect yourself.

Speaker 6 (12:46):
You have to do something now.

Speaker 5 (12:47):
I'm never gonna I want to make it clear, I'm
not criticizing him, because when a dude has reckless abandon
for his body, I got respect for him. I do, like,
I get it. You know.

Speaker 6 (12:59):
I say, there's honor in.

Speaker 5 (13:00):
Plain hurt, there's honor in fighting hurt.

Speaker 6 (13:02):
And something I've always preested our.

Speaker 5 (13:04):
Guys, he's honor infighting hurt. But it is our responsibility
too to make sure that we are like, man, you
gotta you gotta protect yourself, especially.

Speaker 6 (13:12):
In a situation like that.

Speaker 5 (13:14):
But you know, it's interesting too because there's a guy
also that they looked at for a long contract extension
and you're like.

Speaker 6 (13:19):
Man, you're you're in a tough situation.

Speaker 5 (13:22):
In a way, because you do you see the talent,
you see the leadership, you see what he's turned into.
But he's one hit away from saying, oh my gosh,
like what now, and that that money is guaranteed. So
it's a really interesting situation.

Speaker 6 (13:37):
I thought it was.

Speaker 5 (13:41):
I thought the human side of the Dolphins to believe
in him and show them after all that, which fantastic.
I thought the business side of the Dolphins. I don't
know the right answer there because when you are talking
about brain, there's no right I'm like, man, I it's
not like, hey, if you do a seed equal see

(14:01):
when you deal with.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
The braces one hundred percent. Jay Glazer with us Jason
Smith Show with he with me, Mike Carmon here Fox
Sports Radio. You see j of course, legendary Hall of
Fame broadcaster the NFL, Fox UH NFL on Fox Ballers,
founder of m VP and Unbreakable Performance, and of course
his his podcast uh Empire as well at Jay Glazer

(14:22):
where you find him in the Twitter verse. Uh Jay,
you know you you tight. In the world of Pittsburgh,
it became the Boswell era. As much as we wanted
to talk Russell Wilson justin fields, it became about the
kicker and the defense seems as so long as.

Speaker 5 (14:36):
TJ Watts there were talking about.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
But that's just it. So long as t J Watts
up there in wreaking hav It, it's chaos.

Speaker 5 (14:43):
That was Mike Tomlin. As the Winnings you ever have met.
That was Mike Key all the way. That couldn't be
more of a Steelers win right there.

Speaker 6 (14:55):
And look I.

Speaker 5 (15:00):
What the Steelers are Steelers have. I will say this
whenever I call my training camp tour, everybody asked.

Speaker 6 (15:06):
Me, Hey, who look good?

Speaker 5 (15:08):
Who? I don't know? Who looks I'm there for a
day and I'm day drinking half the time. Nobody I
admit it, Okay, But what I can't understand is cultures. Right,
I can pick up cultures. So the one thing I
did tell people is when I went around and they said,
who looks shooting at because I also, here's the other thing.

(15:28):
When you're a training camp, right, I don't know what
you're working on, but at least I know I don't know.
So when you see other media reporter six, this guy
had a bad day, this kind of bad day in practice. Man,
Well we're getting somebody ready for a fight, and we're
fard and we're doing like if we have a boxer
and we're going to fight a wrestler, we've got to
do a bunch of wrestling stuff.

Speaker 6 (15:47):
He could look awful for a law He's gonna look
terrible until.

Speaker 5 (15:50):
He picks it up right. So same thing there. I
don't know what you're working on. So I don't know
who really looks good performance lives and practices. They maybe
who are working on new tools or new game plan.

Speaker 6 (16:01):
I don't know. But I can tell culture.

Speaker 5 (16:03):
And the one thing I told everybody as I can't
tour around it up the two cultures are violence and
how is the little field where the Steelers of the
Ravens they have cultures of violence. I love that, and
that is what the Steelers have always kind of gotten
by off. So you know, they don't need a guy
to go out there and play like pets bome to

(16:26):
make sure that they're always winning. They have this culture
violence that makes you hate playing the Steelers, and you
saw it out on the other day with you know,
even a backup quarterback, We're still going to have a
learning curve. But by the way, I will tell you
this to Justin Fields, Arthur Smith and I come will
love them and love them.

Speaker 6 (16:43):
They do think there's something there for quarterback in the future.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
All right, Jay, let's end here. Let's you know, being
in New York. Guy got to ask you about the
Jets coming off the loss on Monday night. Aaron Rodgers looked,
as you see, I feel okay because Aaron Rodgers looked
all right, and whatever the Jets do this year is
going to be on his show. How did you feel
after seeing him? Where they're at, everything you've seen going there,
visiting what was about?

Speaker 5 (17:06):
I think everything that could have gone wrong went wrong
to them that day. Their personnel's way like Joe Douglass
put together really good personnel over there. Defensively, they're a
way better team than that. For whatever reason, their best
players just double that day and it was just it
was like the imperfect storm. I think the Jets didn't
show who they really are. I do think it's very

(17:28):
very directable, because you do when you just look at
the personnel. Man, that personnel is fantastic, from quarterback to
running back, to receivers to cornerback to pass rush the line.
I mean, they're fantastic. By your thoughts, that man. They
sometimes you show up kind of like Miami tonight, right,

(17:49):
but even before dou got hurt, just nothing was going right.
And they're best players just war and performing the way
they're supposed ships and they know there's going to be
better from those guys us.

Speaker 6 (18:01):
I think that's what the Jets are.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
He's on Twitter at Jay Glazer. That is at Jay Glazer.

Speaker 6 (18:07):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
Check him out there as well as Hey, you did
Jerry Ferrarra's podcast. You talked about Brady did a lot
of fun stuff there.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
I saw Jerry fer and Matt Loner my guys.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
All right, Jake.

Speaker 5 (18:21):
Gerry Ferrara, he's the first actor ever training in boxing.

Speaker 6 (18:25):
Help him.

Speaker 5 (18:27):
Uh, he was gonna play Artur guy in a movie.
The NFL player ever trained.

Speaker 6 (18:36):
So there you go.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
Wow, Hey, shure it up. That's your next podcast. They
fight on your podcast. They fight each other. I'm totally
let's go. That will come to play by play. That's
the next Jay Laser podcast. Culture of Violence with Jay Glazer,
And that's what it is people.

Speaker 5 (18:57):
He knows.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
Look, take it easybody, We'll talk to you next week.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
Be good, Jay next day. He summarized. He summarized the
Steelers perfectly now, right like that, And as we've been
talking about, it's like, so long as your your defense
is right and you don't turn the ball over, you're
gonna be in games. And that's exactly what they did
in week one and what they're banking on.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
No, but how about the big thing? Hey, Mike Tomlin,
they love justin fields there now you saw.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
Though, right justin he feels like he's ad a place
where he's loved, like he's very positive about it, like
from day one he got in there and from all
reports and then he confirms it is that there's been
kind of like the big Hug the entire time, as
opposed to whatever it was in Chicago, like the hey,

(19:50):
let's learn, let's let's grab the playbook, let's grab the
personnel packages, and let's figure this out. Whereas with the
Bears that always seem like a all right, what's just
keep going where we are. We're not going to change
and adapt styles as most good coaches would do. Sorry
Bears fans, you know exactly what I'm talking about is

(20:11):
that you adapt to what your guy can do, as
opposed to saying this is the way I like to
run an offense. And Arthur Smith and company, at least
through week one and from all reports through the offseason,
this is a guy that they're trying to figure out,
all right, what is it that you do well and
how do we maximize it?

Speaker 1 (20:29):
That's a big deal. And I look, we said it
if Justin Fields wins this week, and he should because
you know, you know it's a good spotby Boswell kick
seven eight field goals. Now the defense should terrorize he
wins this week. You can't. You're gonna make a quarterback
change it to and ohero. I mean, this is it
like that if Russell Wilson can't somehow get cleared and
talk his way into the lineup, like you're looking at

(20:50):
the end of Russell Wilson's a starting quarterback barring injury
to Justin Fields, Like you don't go you know you're
two and oh you do not do that. You're not
going back. And it's when everybody else in your divisions
having problems. Well, we're two in a why are we
gonna do this? Why are we gonna go back when
we have the younger quarterback that we have to see anyway, Well,
we're going forward with Justin Fields.

Speaker 3 (21:07):
Well that's just it, right. The only other team that
looked reasonably good was Baltimore, and they missed, you know,
tiptoeing through the tulips and a couple of plays that
went awry and broken coverages in the secondary. As we
discussed at nauseum after that Thursday night opener, Oh Jude,
teams are potentially in peril here. Cincinnati's got a lot
of stuff swirling. Whether you think Joe Burrows the guy

(21:29):
to pull him out of it and all is gonna
be right with the world. Fine, I'll wait and see it.
As for Cleveland, good luck.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
Exit out about a Fresco exit swollen down the Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmon. Speaking of
good luck, let's talk to Steve de Sager. Yeah, he
always brings you good luck. None of the team's vying
for the wild card of the National League lost today.
That's all good news he has he's a damn rabbits point,
and the rest in what's trending or played seemingly.

Speaker 8 (21:57):
But we do have late night baseball and the update
on Kumar Rocker in his Major league debut for the
Texas Rangers tonight, back from Tommy John surgery. Four innings,
just one run, allowed, seven strikeouts, but the Rangers are
now losing four to two at Seattle in the top
of the seventh inning. Brewers up one nothing at San
Francisco bottom of the seventh. And we have two college

(22:17):
football scores for you. Yes, Arizona State came back to
win at Texas State thirty one twenty eight.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
I saw the end of that game. Scott Bakula through
an interception and Texas State turned the ball over. Sindbad
could have fallen on a football in the final minute,
He could not get it, and so Arizona State was
able to run the clock out.

Speaker 8 (22:38):
Sad thing as they could have tied the game late
but Kathy Ireland missed a field goal.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
Oh, I was well and hey, and without your coach
Robert Loja having to coach the game because Hector Alessando
was in the hospital. Robert Oliver rob.

Speaker 8 (22:52):
Recall the day of that movie that we were roughness come.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Thank you very much.

Speaker 1 (22:58):
That goes back a one. Guys, I don't feel so good.
I think I swallowed a finger.

Speaker 8 (23:03):
The other college game tonight, South Alabama defeated Northwestern State.
The score was twenty four to ten after the first quarter.
Final score eighty seven to ten. South Alabama as a
team thirty four carries three hundred and sixty three yards rushing,
so over ten yards per carry.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve, I appreciate it. My
friend The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon,
Cathy Island, mister Field, I'm still gonna.

Speaker 3 (23:32):
Put that out the Armadillos, Baby, let's go. Can we

Speaker 2 (23:38):
Now?

Speaker 3 (23:38):
I need a football movie.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
Let's go with four seconds left to let the sun
Devil survive?

Speaker 2 (23:45):
Hello, coming up?

Speaker 3 (23:48):
He didn't proceed.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
How about a big bold prediction for the rest of
the season in the NFL coming off the Bills Dolphins game?
How about that?

Speaker 3 (23:57):
Oh, let's go bulp you know whoa?

Speaker 1 (23:59):
Oh wait? Oh no, I could buy that.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
Are you gonna match my Super Bowl pit?

Speaker 1 (24:03):
There and by that. I don't know what your super Bowl?
But why you bring upsefter? No one knows you're talking
about you know, I don't know, but no one else knows.
I know, no one else knows. We're gonna do that.
Coming up next, Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (24:18):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

Fox Sports Radio. Welcome inside Bill's beat the Dolphins thirty
one to ten. I had the under right. You did
have the under I told you did the under You didn't.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
Think it would take these twists and turns to get there.
But you know what, it doesn't matter, asked if I
had the game right? Did you have the game right?

Speaker 1 (24:41):
I had the under.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
I mean I could have them play it back to you. No, no,
it's read it back to you.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
I said we would.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
Win by by at least ten, and I was right.
I just I just said the wrong team. Oh you
had a brain in Miami. I meant to say Buffalo
youkah uh so a big win from the Buffalo Bills.
Are they back? Did they ever go anywhere? Joining us?

Speaker 6 (25:05):
Now?

Speaker 1 (25:06):
Take a look back at this one and a look
ahead at all the big action this weekend. We're about
to head to Vegas. Mike Harmon, Do Do Do Do
Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do
Do Do.

Speaker 3 (25:20):
This is this is.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
Better than the bolo music you were playing last night.
I did, but you know, I'm just saying you played
it though I asked for it. But you played whose
names on the show. It's the Alex TiSER Show. You'll
only work two days a week. It's okay. You was
your four days. You were the lamar Odom of Fox
Sports Radio. You work a day, you're off, two days.

(25:42):
You work a day, You're off three days.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
Tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (25:47):
I think Tom's ready. Longtime friend of the show. Are
insider in Vegas? Check out the bet the Board podcast,
former odds maker at Caesar's. He's on CVS also ad
covers it is Todd Furman, Todd, what's happening, Bud?

Speaker 7 (26:04):
You know, I've never figured out Smith after doing the
show with you boys as long as I have. If
being called a friend of the show is a positive
distinction or is something that works against me in the
grand scheme of things, So it can be quite the
polarizing assessment of my personality or lack of judgment.

Speaker 1 (26:20):
Well, ask me how much better has your life gotten
the last few years since coming on with us? A
hell of a lot better.

Speaker 7 (26:25):
I mean, this is radio, this is national radio after dark, right,
so I can share my real feelings on that or
should I save those from my therapist next week?

Speaker 3 (26:32):
Well, we got another half hour before you can let
any exploitation.

Speaker 1 (26:35):
But let me just look and see how your profile
has exploded. You got married, and it's all because of us,
So there you will.

Speaker 7 (26:42):
Wait, I mean my wife is I don't think she's
in the house. Now, wait, marriage is a positive in
all this.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
I don't think she's in the house. I could actually
hear you turning your head to look behind you to see,
if you know what.

Speaker 7 (26:57):
It reminded me of those old butt ice commercials or
dry where the it's the call is coming from inside
the house. So I had to kind of pull the exorcis,
spin my hat on a swivel, but realize she's not
in the house and can't hear anything negative that I
say about my loving wife.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
I Well, before we go ahead, let's go back to you.
How did you do tonight with Bill Dolphins? What was
your action on it?

Speaker 7 (27:15):
You know it didn't do anything with this game sider.
Total feel like underbetter is extremely fortunate given the way
the second half, when unfortunately you see two US upper
a concussion in that regard that really clamped down on
some of the offensive productivity for those two teams. But
explore the prop market came up a bit short with
Dalton Kincaid continue to think he's underutilized in the new
look Bill's offense, but Devin A. Shane continues to be

(27:37):
one of the players that is an unheralded superstar in
terms of the way the Dolphins have gottenhim involved as
a runner and receiver. Fully expect odds makers to adjust
his receiving yards props going forward, even with the change
of quarterback, most likely to Skyler Thompson a week from
Sunday when they head up to Seattle.

Speaker 1 (27:52):
I'll tell you harm I knew that because Todd tweeted
earlier tonight. Absolutely Mike McDaniel has eight chan in fantasy
and started him tonight, which is why the I mean.

Speaker 7 (28:00):
Look, if I knew that part, I probably would have
had a stronger position on some of his proms and
his usage rate because let me tell you. When you're
watching that game and the outcome had long since been
decided to thirty one to ten, the camera continues to
pan to Tyreek Hill and Jalen Waddle yucking it up
on the bench, and there is the star running back
out there, knowing that Raheem Moster is already injured catching

(28:22):
balls out of the backfield, running between the tackles, and
you're thinking yourself of another dolphin gets hurt. This is
not going to be a pleasant press conference, in the
least for their head coach, who continues to let the
team down in some of the biggest.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
Games anything from the first half, you know, with Cook
being a dominant force, Josh Allen didn't need to be
superman today. Have we seen the markets respond and maybe
come back towards the Bills a little?

Speaker 7 (28:44):
Yeah, Honestly, I think in the big picture, the Bills
were kind of a cell team within the division. That's
the reason that the Jets closed as the AFC favorite
af East favorite coming into the season. But you look
at the way the Bills have played through their first
two games, and quite frankly, this may sound like a
cop out, I'm not sure we have a great data point.
The first week against Arizona, they got themselves in a
whole seventeen to three and needed a battle back in

(29:04):
a little bit of inclement weather. It was Josh Allen
kind of thinking and dunking his way with ultra efficiency
on only twenty three pass attempts and a Sean mcdermoin
and Ken Dorsey. They didn't have to do much to
try and stretch the field. So we haven't seen what
this Bill's offense will necessarily look like when it's pushed
a little bit and defensively. You know, Bills fans holding
their breath for the potential losing yet another linebacker, knowing

(29:26):
about the injury of Matt Milano and Terrell Bernard if
he's going to miss some time or Drel Dotson can
change the dynamic of what they can do in the
middle of the field. But that Bills will have extra
time to heal up because they don't play again until
they host the Jags for Monday Night Football a week
for Monday.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
All right, Todd, We'll get to the rest of the
NFL site coming up, But of course we got a
big game tomorrow night. Arizona's going to go with Kansas State.
Then we have the big nude kickoff on Saturday with
Alabama and Wisconsin. I'd say you, as much as I
look at this game, I'd love to be able to
think Wisconsin could do something, But I just keep seeing
Alabama in a route, Alabama in a route? How do
you see this one?

Speaker 7 (29:59):
A big ques ushion is which Alabama team is?

Speaker 2 (30:01):
For real?

Speaker 7 (30:02):
Is it the group that we saw absolutely dismantle Western
Kentucky in their season opener, or is it the team
that we saw struggle for the better part of three
and a half quarters last week with South Florida. For
folks that didn't watch the game and see the final
score forty two sixteen, they go, oh, Alabama went out
there and dominated. I mean, that's a twenty one sixteen
football game with about six and a half minutes left,
and Alex Goulish's USF defense did a great job kind

(30:23):
of muddying up the waters, clogging those rush lanes and
making Jalen Milrowe a little bit more one dimensional. Now,
if the problem for Wisconsin, They're very good on the
back end and defensively maybe a little bit underrated, but
this offense doesn't scare anybody. The dairy raid or whatever
they're calling it in Madison now looks to be stuck
in mud. And we'll see if Tyler Van Dyke can
get this team going. If the number ticks up to seventeen,

(30:44):
it would probably trigger a value bet for me there
on the dog, But I'm not going to be so
bold and brashed to call for an outright upset, even
if this is the biggest number that Wisconsin has caught
as a home underdog in over the last thirty years.

Speaker 3 (30:56):
Todd one more from college. We got Colorado Colorado State.
Interesting on the field, Lots of narratives with Colorado, but
also the fact that everybody's doing some trash talking, which
is always good for business. Seeing the line either seven
or seven and a half. Do they have enough offensive line?
Is it Shador holding the ball too long? Can they
overcome those issues?

Speaker 7 (31:16):
You wonder if this Colorado team implodes a bit. I mean,
last weekend's effort at Nebraska not exactly a ringing endorsement
for them, making a step forward and being able to
flirt with buel eligibility.

Speaker 6 (31:25):
Now.

Speaker 7 (31:25):
Fortunately for them, they're not going to face the defensive
line that tenacious this week against Colorado State. But they
do have to go into hostile territorium for the first
time and an eternity will play the Rocky Mountain Showdown
in Fort Collins against Colorado State. You look at the
Rams a couple of data points so far this season
of fifty two to nothing drubbing against Texas that I
guess looks better seeing what Texas did on the road

(31:46):
end and arbor. But you do have some questions about
Braden Fowler Nicolosi dealing with a injury to one of
their top wide receivers, and Tory Horton, although he got upgraded.
This is Colorado State super Bowl given what got away
from them last year in a game is nearly three
touchdown underdog. That being said, I'm not sure I'm running
into the window to back the Rams here, and these
are two programs just fighting for a level of respectability.

(32:07):
But credit to the folks and four Collins for helping
to try and resurrect the PAC twelve after dark becoming
one of six members now trying to build that league
back to prominence.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
Seebo, here's the It's not really the PAC twelve. It's
just a couple of teams and everybody else in the Mountaine.

Speaker 3 (32:20):
It's not really, We'll get back to twelve.

Speaker 6 (32:21):
No.

Speaker 7 (32:22):
I mean, look, look, I hate to be the bearer
of bad news, but the ACC now has two teams
from the Bay Area in Callen, Stanford, and the Big
Ted hasn't had ten teams and since since I was
getting bar Mitzvan, you know, back in nineteen ninety five.

Speaker 1 (32:36):
Well that's well, put You're latest Bet the Board podcast
is up. You get the link to it on Todd's
Twitter page at Todd Ferman or at bet the Board Pod.
Give me a couple of games you went through you
like this weekend? What's a couple of things you like? NFL?

Speaker 7 (32:49):
Oh, well, we're looking at the NFL slate. I actually
think it's a bounce back spot for the New York Giants.
I know they look downright horrific last week and getting
dismantled by the Minnesota Vikings to the tune of twenty
eight to six. But you look at Washington and I
think they're going to experience some growing pains, especially on
the defensive side. We saw the gaudy numbers that Baker
Mayfield and Company put forth, and while I don't think
Daniel Jones can replicate that, especially if Malik Neighbors is

(33:11):
a little bit nicked up. This is a Giants team
that I think their offensive line will hold up in
this spot, and I really believe their defensive front will
be able to generate pressure while Jayden Daniels continues to
go through growing pain. So I like the Giants to
go on the road and get a divisional win. I
mean outright, I guess they have to do as a
one point underdog, and I think a fascinating matchup that
we're going to see unfold, you know, takes place between

(33:32):
the Minnesota Vikings and the forty nine Ers. Would have
liked the Vikings a lot more at six. Not sure
I'm in love with them in the four and a
half five threshold San Francisco on a short week where
Kyle Shanahan has been good in his career. We're not
sure about the availability of Christian McCaffrey. But as Jordan
Mason proved, you know, most guys can go out there
with a downhill running style and really change what the
not changed what the forty nine ers will do. And

(33:54):
this is a Minnesota team that if they can win
this game outright against the forty nine or something they
accomplished last year in Monday Night football. Really open some
eyes knowing that Sam Darnold kind of became an afterthought
after JJ McCarthy's injury. They are, however, a little bit limited,
and I'm not sure you want to go in a
battle against this forty nine Ers defense with Jalen Naylor
as your secondary receiving threat.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
All right, let me just do one last one, the
obvious one with our upbringing Todd plus six and a half.
The Bears on the road at Houston. CJ. Strouden Company
get big returns from Joe Mixon. He goes for one
a one to fifty nine s to Fon Diggs, maybe
addition by subtraction to Buffalo, but either way, happy returns
in Houston to start Bears offense has to be better

(34:35):
than last week, doesn't It doesn't it?

Speaker 7 (34:38):
I think they can't get worse. I mean, Kayler Williams
fourteen to thirty nine throws for ninety three yards. Of course,
I was one of the idiots that had the Titans
plus four and a half and still trying to figure
out nearly a week later how that bet didn't get
to the window. When you look at Joe Mixon, I mean,
it looked like he was shot out of a cannon.
Thirty rushing attempts, one hundred and fifty nine rushing yards,
one hundred and seventy eight yards from scrimmage. That was

(35:00):
I had for the most rushing attempts he had in
a game in his career. But I think the interesting
part about that he only had seventeen rushing yards over expectations,
So that may be more a reflection of the Colts
defensive line and their inability to stop the run. When
you look at the Bears in this spot, I know,
like we said, last weekend's performance doesn't leave you birming
with confidence. But rookie starting quarterbacks and a relatively limited

(35:20):
sample size in prime time going back to the start
of the twenty twenty two season, twelve four to one
against the number, And I think what's even more surprising
for me again a small sample size since twenty eighteen.
Number one overall picks when they play in primetime in
the rookie season one in five straight up, but because
they've been discounted by odds makers, they're actually five to
zero to one against the numbers. So fascinating match up

(35:41):
here if the Bears defense can hold up, but you
think that the Bears offense has to be a little
bit more dynamic. The problem for them. They could be
going into battle without Roma Dunes and Keenan Allen putting
the entire burdener Proof Entirely on DJ.

Speaker 1 (35:52):
Moore Vegas and insider Todd Furman. Check them out on
Twitter at Todd Furman. Also the Bet the Board podcast
also the biggest games addressing key matchups, metrics markets Tampa, Bay, Detroit, Cincinnati,
KC more on Chicago and Houston. Again Bet the Board
pod on Twitter. Todd is always buddy, appreciate it. My
friend enjoyed the games.

Speaker 7 (36:13):
We'll talk to you, hey, Always a pleasure. And one
last thing, hard I'm glad to see Northwestern waited all
two games to make a change at the quarterback position
for the big matchup coming up this weekend against the EU.

Speaker 3 (36:22):
Well, when you throw what nine almost interceptions, it's time
and you give away a game to Duke.

Speaker 1 (36:30):
Yeah, that's a new stat, Todd almost interceptions for Northwestern.

Speaker 3 (36:34):
Let's let's track that from there. It's stopped putting the
damn ball in harm's way.

Speaker 7 (36:38):
Hey, look, Smith, Darnell autry isn't walking through that door anytime.

Speaker 6 (36:42):
Sewing the Toosha rock.

Speaker 3 (36:44):
Don't make me come to Vegas and attack you. See
you buddy, have fun, good boy, say your buddy. There
it goes, Todd. I hate you, you you, Lieutenant Weinberg
