Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ladies, you want experience during your football season, well, buckle.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Up, sweet cheeks.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
What we've got all the experience in the world. This
is I want your Flex with Dan Byer and Mike Harmon.
Mike and Dan break down everything you need to set
your line ups, from position rankings.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
To starts and sits.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
The guys help you make those hard decisions. And now
let's get your flex on. Here's Dan Bayer and Mike Harmon.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Week three is already underway. Jets fans have a smile
on their face. It is I want your flex. He's
Mike Carmen hit him up at Swollen Dome. No smile.
There no smile on my face. But there is a
smile on the face of our executive producer, Ian Roddy,
who is the resident Jets fan on this podcast. Mike,
do you have any glowing words for Ian? After the

(00:54):
Jets took care of the Patriots on Third Night Football?

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Yeah, I mean part of it comes back to this is,
I think what people expected from the Patriots to a degree,
at least on the offensive side coming into the year,
I didn't think they'd be man handled quite so easily
by the Jets offense. Aaron Rodgers nearly got that elusive
three hundred yard game. You know, he hasn't had one
of those since he eviscerated the Bears in twenty twenty one,

(01:19):
but two eighty one and two, and they did whatever
they wanted to. Most impressively for Rogers, the lateral movement
that is back which makes it makes it a nightmare
for the back seven to cover it. So as long
as the skill guys Wilson, Conklin, Lazard and even Mike
Williams sheh a degree, stay healthy, there's gonna be some

(01:39):
points on the board down the line. For the Patriots
side of things, I thought it was irresponsible to put
Drake May in the game late the way Jacobi presaid
had run for his life the entire night. Twelve of
eighteen ninety eight yards Dan Ramandre Stevenson six carries, that's it.
Six cherries twenty three yards, zero catches, zero targets all

(02:01):
the way down. Just a miserable offensive performance for the Patriots.
Great opportunity for Jets fans. You know, Braylan Allen at
his fifty five yards on the ground, so that's a
nice boost. Three catches thirteen yards PPR League, you got
paid Breese Hall found the end zone after review, so
that gave you some love again, a little work out

(02:21):
of the backfield as a receiver. But I think where
it is is if you bought low on the Jets
or you held firm right, steady, steady, you feel like
there might be better days coming as this offense starts
to click.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
All right, Ian as a Jets fan, there's not a
lot that you can pick apart from that performance. It's
got to feel pretty good to be two and one
at this.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Point, feel super good to be two and one. I mean,
it was just great, like you said, to see Aaron
Rodgers moving around laterally, you know, because in the first
first game and a half he really was just like
a statue in there, and it was like, okay, how
much is he really trusting his new Achilles tendon And
you know, well he seemed to trust tonight. And then
also the defense too came out big. I mean, only

(03:03):
allowing three points. Obviously it is the Patriots, but look,
they pushed Joe Burrow and the Bengals to the limit.
They pushed the Seahawks at the limit last week, brought
them to overtime. I think they look good and Will
McDonald defense two sacks, two more sacks because he had
three last game. I'm I'm feeling good about the Jets
right now.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Hasan Raddick losing money? I know by the moment right
it's like who needs it? I did see a stat
that was kind of interesting, you know, when we add
into our game picks and whatever else. Over the last
twenty years, team to play an overtime game and then
had to play four days of rest or less versus
a team who didn't play overtime the week before. They

(03:40):
were six and nineteen straight up and three and twenty
two against the number. And that's where the Patriots were.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Yeah, Thursday night. Yeah, I thought that the travel of
the Jets was going to catch up to them three
games in eleven days and it did anything. But it's
almost like they found their footing in that game against Tennessee.
After a slow start of the game, they got rolling.
Braylan Allen sure seems like a thing now with the Jets,
So you don't have to put it all on Breis

(04:07):
Hall's shoulders. So a good good night all around for
the New York Jets.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
And a reminder that Mike did did have Braylan Allen
as one of his ads, his waiver wire ads last week.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
He knows what he's doing, folks. That's why you got
to listen to him, and you're going to listen to
him right now. As we transition to Mike Harmon's rankings
for Week three, We'll get to the running backs in
a bit, but we always start out with the signal callers.
Mike Harmon laying on us your top five quarterbacks for
Week three of the NFL season.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Let's jump on board right away. Josh Allen said it
forget it going up against Jacksonville team still walking in
the along the beach, trying to figure out their identity.
Thirteenth most Fantasy points per game allowed to quarterbacks. But Alan,
as we know a different animals starting to get more
comfortable with those secondary receivers. How about Kyler Murray going

(04:54):
up against Detroit. This is one that you know from
all you've seen these first couple of weeks. This is
the get the popcorn game total creeping towards fifty two.
As we sit here and Marvin Harrison Junior, remember everybody
was trying to make a big thing. They're fighting after game.
What now they're not fighting after game one, everybody's happy,
everybody plays, everybody win, and so long as he's running

(05:15):
around like I'm playing a video game, I feel pretty
good about myself, although I do feel bad for Dan Campbell,
who's in the middle of moving after dopey fans got
after his owner.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Are they just gonna find his next house?

Speaker 3 (05:27):
Yes, at some point you just have to build a
moat and be done with it. I think I do
not get it. I don't understand.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
And for those that missed it, Dan Campbell said that
someone ruly fans made him and his wife feel uncomfortable.
That's not a joke there, But they decided to move
because of that, and I just figure, like, well, they'll
just go to the next place then, I guess.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Can only hide so long, all right? So those are
the top two. How about Joe Burrow, Hey, weeks one
and two are behind us. Yes, everybody's seen the record
for he and his coach, Zach Taylor in weeks one
to two. Guess what, it's Week three and you've got
a very nice, generous matchup this week at home against
the Washington Commanders, the worst team against opposing quarterbacks through

(06:11):
the first two weeks of the season giving up twenty
four points per game. And it's not sexy, but Patrick
Mahomes hitting downfield opportunities against Atlanta seventh most generous to
quarterbacks through two weeks. We get that in the big
Sunday Night affair over unders sitting at about forty seven.
Expect the timing once again to get better curiosity in
the backfield there for case as we watch and finally

(06:34):
I think he's gonna light it up, I debated, really
pushing him up a little bit more. Lamar Jackson, you know,
the two Ravens start, despite some of the offensive efficiencies
that then able to form going up against the Dallas defense.
Think he has his way. So he comes in at
number five this week.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Such an intriguing spot with this late window of games
this week because Ravens Cowboys, you know, with Lamar Jackson
going up against Dak Prescott. But then you have the
NFC West rivalry of the forty nine Ers Rams and
then that Lions Cardinals game that you mentioned with Kyler
Murray that's also a one twenty five or four to

(07:13):
twenty five Eastern time kick one twenty five for us
here on the West coast. Interesting late window with a
lot of good games, which I will not complain about.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
It would be really good for Red Zone Radio. Yes
for you, I'm Jerry Rhods getting after Come on now,
it should be a should be a dandy. We have
no idea who's going to play for the forty nine
ers in RAMS considering their injury situations, but Lions and
Cardinals should be interesting, and Ravens and Cowboys and hey,
twenty minutes prior to that, it's the Panthers and Raiders
kicking off on CBS. But I'm sure there'll be some

(07:44):
Panthers talk later onto the podcast, just maybe not in the.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Top five rankings. Let's get to the top five running
backs for Week three of the National Football League season.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
Mike take it away, as we have the opportunity to
watch this Kubiak offense go to work. Alvin Mara. Look,
he's healthy and he's back as a runner receiver as
envisioned all these years. You've got Derek Carr getting fined
for doing a Michael Jackson celebration, letting a little bit
of his freak flag fly. I mean all of that
happening opportunity here against Philadelphia. When we look at the

(08:19):
Eagles over the first couple of weeks of the season.
They can be gotten in the back seven as you
make them work and spread the field, So I expect
more of that this week. James Cook going up against
Jacksonville again as a runner receiver. The opportunities that we've
seen and the share that he's taken on in that
backfield as the rest of the receiving corps gets on

(08:41):
the same page with Josh Allen remains a beast. Yeah,
you get to see some of Davis in the backfield,
but Cook still far and away the leader and one
of those guys that's breaking through to become a household name,
or at least I'm going to try to make that happen.
B Jehn Robinson going up against Kansas City.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
I would say, Mike, if he is a household name,
be in the kitchen.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Nicely done. That's my guy. That's what I needed right there.
Let's go. B Jon Robinson going up against Kansas City.
We're getting the touch count that we want, maybe a
little bit more, maybe some Tyler All. Jerry's gonna come
in and he's gonna gut you from time to time,
but maybe a boost of confidence. The way that game
ended with Captain Kirk the seventy yard drive and everything

(09:23):
against Philly. Not that Bjhon Robinson had a lot to
do with that, but the opportunities he ran really well
early in that game. So in boldened by that this
is a game that I really can't wait to watch
on Sunday night. Derek Henry getting his going up against
Dallas right now. The only guy he's got to avoid
is Micah Parsons because the rest of the ten are

(09:45):
standing around and well, Michaeh Parsons probably didn't do himself
any favors with the well, you know, guys are doing
their jobs. We'll see what if they can do it
against Baltimore. Baltimore having some issues offensive line and that continuity,
but Henry still as you sledgehammer. And then we finished
with Saquon Barkley going up the other side against New Orleans,

(10:05):
the idea of him being a receiver out of the
backfield for four to six catches to bolster his weekly
output and put him in the top five.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
I'd have to think that some bit of revenge or
payback from what transpired on Monday night will be in
play for the Eagles as they go to New Orleans
and one of the big games that We've got a
bunch of huge games in the NFL in Week three.
What about the wide receiver position. A lot of guys
out there, Mike, But who are the cream of the

(10:35):
crop catching passes this week?

Speaker 3 (10:37):
Well, if you talk to people in Baltimore, the one
thing their biggest lamentation even before the season began, is
that they don't have that shut down corner. What does
that mean? Ceedee Lamb's running them up in the secondary.
So opportunity for him for another big day here as
we roll it forward. Doesn't mean that everybody gets fed
and doesn't mean that the quarterback himself will eat. But

(10:58):
we'll get to that in a bit. I'm ros Saint
Brown going up against Arizona again expecting some points in
that one, am I. So I'm going to look for
him to really pick up the reception count here. That's
what I'm banking on. The PPR love Rashi Rice going
up against Atlanta. Fifteen targets through the first two weeks
and good production despite not really having that viable consistent

(11:23):
Number two Travis Kelcey even admitting he's frustrated by how
slowly things have started for him. Number four, Devontae Adams. Yeah,
we got the Panthers in, but not a member of
the Panthers. DeVonta Adams going up against the Panthers here.
And then Marvin Harrison Junior going back to that Arizona
Detroit game expecting fireworks, and for Harrison Junior, I think

(11:44):
week two is just a sign of big things to come.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
When you peel that onion back of the Kansas City Chiefs,
You're right, she Rice right now is the most reliable
thing that the Chiefs have. That's not a knock on
everyone else. It just means the Checko's hurt. Elsie's not
doing what he wants to do. Hollywood Brown hasn't seen
the field. Xavier Worthy is still a rookie, so Rice

(12:07):
ends up being the guy that rises to the occasion.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
Yeah, watching that offense thus far, I mean, and we
made it the analogy a little bit last week, you
and I and talked about it more with Jason Smith
and our slot at Fox Sports Radio. Just the idea
that the Chiefs at this point are kind of in
that feeling out just like they did last year. Dan
a lot of reliance on the defense. I know, Chris
Jones was kind of mad that they took half a

(12:31):
sack away from him and gave it all to carloftis
so a little bit of ankst there for him. I
don't know if he's got some bonuses off to go
look at his contract. But the idea that the defense
and Butker are going to have to carry them in
some games, right, that they'll have to do just enough offensively,
And look, Mahomes is uncorked and been able to hit
on a couple of big pass plays, and statistically, you know,

(12:54):
that's the earliest he's done that in a bit. But
we watched it last year with even with Travis Kelsey
finished just shy of a thousand yards. But it wasn't
world beating in the first half of the season. Neither
was Pacheco. A lot of that was second half finding
their stride and feeling it out, just like the old
Patriots used to do. And then you just hope you're
healthy enough to where you can actually hit that second stretch.

(13:16):
And for the Chiefs, integrating all these new faces, no
matter what you've got calling plays, and how much we
love Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes, it's going to be
a work in progress.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
It is unique when you talk about the Kansas City
Chiefs and how just how they win football games. And
that's what I think sets them apart. Their greatness is
that they know how to close out games or win
those close games. And I'm saying this less than a
week after. I think that PI call was PS on
the fourth and sixteen. I didn't like that call on

(13:47):
that play, but they put themselves in this situation. Not
that you want to be in fourth and sixteen, but
they've showed time and time again that when they have
a lead, they can work the clock. When they don't
have a lead, they can move the ball down the field,
and not every team can do that in an NFL
that we've seen the first two weeks of this season, Mike,
and we've seen season after season after season. Just knowing

(14:09):
how to win those close football games is almost seventy
five percent of the battle. I don't think the Chiefs
are significantly better than the other top teams in the
National Football League. I just think that they're significantly better.
When you have to win a football game in those
final ten minutes of regulation. I think that's where the
Chiefs end up thriving and that's why they're so good,

(14:31):
and that's why they're to.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
And zer right now again owing to the last dynasty.
You know, you don't beat yourself. And it was part
of what I alluded to a little bit here with
the Aaron Rodgers, you know, coming out of Thursday Night Football.
But how many quarterbacks do you say you really trust?
Like if you went to fans in all thirty two
NFL cities and said, do you really trust your quarterback?

(14:55):
Do you really think he's getting you to where you
need to be? How many guys? How deep does that
list get? I heard a promo talking about you know,
Jalen Hurts and like, oh, he's still one of those
Well yeah, but he's about where the line of demarcation
is and that list is what he guys.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Yeah. I think I think for as much as Buffalo
loves Josh Allen, I think they have a difficult time
saying like, well, we don't know he's gonna throw an interception, you.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
Know what I mean? Though, Like it's a very few,
It's it's an elite thing. So like having Aaron Rodgers
back to being Aaron Rodgers. Okay, there's one Patrick Mahomes, two.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
Burrow I trust.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
If he's upright and ready to go, sure, I'll throw
I'll throw him in. But yeah, but beyond that, I mean,
I guess maybe Stafford. But remember one of the big
plays was an interception that got dropped. He still got dropped,
so it doesn't count. But it's still just the idea
he does put the ball up for grabs now and again,
I mean, go to Purdy and Lamar Jackson. We've seen

(15:52):
it in the playoffs. Trevor Lawrence.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Know, I think Stroud's on his way, but maybe just
the resume isn't there right now because he's you know,
year two.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
Well, but even last week, right, he had one drive sure, right,
I mean it was it's a good Chicago defense, but
you know it wasn't like they marched the ball all
over the place. But yeah, I mean he had a
huge year one and the end.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
If you had to drive, if you had a drive
with five, I think you'd be like, Okay, I got
c J.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
Strou I'd take him over the other twenty twenty plus
guys that we're talking about. Yeah, but it's more just that,
you know, the I don't have a hesitancy at all.
It's like, hey, You've shown it time and again. You
could do this, And that's the beauty of watching a
guy like Rogers. And that kills me, you know, being
next to Jets fan Smith for four hours doing a

(16:37):
show and talking about it. But it's an appreciation for
how rare it is at that position that you are
that steady, that you can bring the ship home even
if things aren't all right. Man, I may never know
that as a Bears fan.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
I Ian did you hear that Harmon still took that
straw for those comments to Caleb Williams after the game,
you know, the the postgame. What did you think of that? Mike?

Speaker 3 (17:03):
What would I say? All in he was a little
broing him? No, but I mean it was it was
clear Caleb wanted no part of it. You had to
pull him back.

Speaker 4 (17:14):
Did you guys see what Nick Wright was saying about
that stuff?

Speaker 2 (17:17):
I did not.

Speaker 4 (17:18):
I think he was saying something about how about how
when Caleb won the Heisman him and Stroud were both finalists.
So it's like, if you put yourself in caleb shoes,
it's a guy who was your peer that recently is
like trying to sit here and give you advice and stuff. Yeah,
I'm I'm I side with Stroud, but I'm just it's
an interesting take.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
I'll give you my alternative angle. Okay, I don't have
a problem with CJ. Stroud trying to give Caleb Williams
the heads up. I think Caleb didn't want to hear
it because he's like, dude, it's my freaking line, you know,
like like I'm I'm you're lucky, I'm here to shake
your hand after the game like that. That's how I

(17:58):
felt Caleb felt about it, that Okay, I'm gonna be
okay as long as I stay upright like that's that's
my alternative angle to it. Whereas yeah, I dig it.
You know, it's not necessarily about me. But what can
Caleb Williams say, Like, you have my freaking line stunk tonight.
You know you can't say that.

Speaker 4 (18:16):
But and the first thing Stroud said to him was
stop taking those hits, man, So it's like to him,
it's like.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
Dude, yeah, it's kind of tough not to when they're
in my face right again, you know, he's miked up,
and Caleb, unfortunately wasn't going to get the benefit of
the doubt because there's so many people that already have
issues with his countenance, with some of the stuff at
USC no matter, like it should take a decade for

(18:42):
any of that to wash off, like is in Chicago,
like you know, the poison pen is out, like if
you can really pin stuff on him, because they were
writing all the you know, glip, this is the guy.
We're getting the finger and nail point, you know, painting
that going into the crowd with his mom, this, that
the other, like all of that was was written as

(19:02):
and they're waiting to bring it back out like it's
all there, and you see bits of it in you know,
the social media stuff with the Bears and then certainly
in the criticism when he makes a mistake, doesn't see
a read I mean, hell you got roma Doonsay's dad
posting highlights? Right? Hey you missed him here? How do

(19:23):
you like that going after Orlowsky? So so like this
video that gets out Like I shrugged when I first
saw it, and then all of a sudden it became
the biggest thing in the world, and I was like
he was just clearly a guy that was like you
know what we lost? You got the w Like I
don't need it, Like I just don't need it right now.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Thank you, oh man, What a time, what a time
to be alive. All right it is I want your
flex Roma Dunzay's dad is now like would be the
TikTok videos of yelling at the fourteen year old ump player.
What are we doing here? All right? Moving on, those
are your top five rankings for Week three of the
NFL season. Running back, wide receiver, and the quarterback position.

(20:06):
Coming up next, we are going to focus more on those,
plus sprinkle in some tight end action as well with
Mike's hot plays, Cold Soores and Ninja's hit him up
at Swollen Don't find me at Dan Byer on Fox,
and find Ian Roddy, our executive producer at Ian Roddy underscore.
That's next here on I want your flex all right,
the fire is hot. It's time for our hot plays

(20:28):
for week three. Find Mic ats Swollen Dome, hit me
up at Dan Beyer on Fox. Mike, let's get to
the guys who didn't make your top five rankings but
should make your starting lineup this week.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
How about we go back to Captain Kirk finishing off
that big game against the Eagles, Big spot at home
against Kansas City, third most generous to quarterbacks, and we'll
take his tight end with them. Kyle Pitts, Yeah, a
lot of the damage was done by Isaiah Likely in
week one. But a guy with a decent share count
and an opportunity to make some hay here at the

(21:00):
quarterback position alongside Captain Kirk Let's grab Jared Goff. We
talked about the Detroit Arizona game a bunch. Derek Carr
will ride the hot hand right. No natural pass rush
coming from Philadelphia. Gotta think after being eviscerated for a week,
maybe they'll be a little different kind of look at
getting after it. But Carr working Kubiak system beautifully, so

(21:25):
we get him in. How about your guys, Charbonay going
against Miami, because I'm banking on your team's defense, your
Seattle Seahawks to terrorize young Skyler Thompson, giving you advantageous
fuel position and maybe a chance to make some Hey
Moss going up against the Washington Commanders. We'll get a
little bit of love and then we'll go back to

(21:47):
the fun and exciting world of Seattle with Smith and Jigma.
You called it before the season, Dan that that share
count would rise. Didn't quite thank you. Be at what
fifteen last week and the huge game that he had.
But again looking for the opportunity of this offense to
make some hay and a little deeper because you still

(22:08):
have to count on the big play to get him over.
But it's awful hard to keep Shaheed out of your
lineup as a WR three.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
Yeah, I would agree with that because anytime Derek Carr
throws one up and I think they're gonna at least
you have to at least give him a shot or
to a game because it just helps everybody else that
when he hits, you're gonna want to cash in on that.

Speaker 3 (22:28):
Yeah, is figure a lave gets slay most of the time. Sure, right,
but it may not matter, right, I mean within the
amount of motion they've got going in the crossing routes
and everything else, it may not matter.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
Yeah, it could be. Yeah, it could be a fun
one on Sunday between the Eagles insints.

Speaker 3 (22:46):
So forty nine and a half, Dan.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
Why not? Why not get him in when you can?
And also I'll also say this about Jared Goff. The
Lions within their uniforms didn't didn't make a huge adjustment
to the helmets, change the face mask, change the center
stripe a little bit. But they were close to going
to the Super Bowl last year, and I'm almost glad
now that they didn't because these uniforms need to be

(23:09):
in the super Bowl. I love like they They do
remind me of the nineties Barry Sanders. Look. I know
it's not exact to it, but now when I see them,
I'm like, yeah, I dig these. So I'm curious to
see what the road ones look like in Arizona coming
up on Sunday.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
All about uniforms in combination. We actually spent a couple
of minutes on air talking about the green of the
Jets helmets on Thursday night?

Speaker 2 (23:36):
Do you like you a fan of those?

Speaker 3 (23:37):
See? I liked it. I like the lighter one, but
it's too much like the old Randall Cunningham eels.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
Uh huh.

Speaker 3 (23:43):
So these these were kind of crisp like, kind of
kind of shiny spark Yeah, like a limited edition mini
home it would be.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
Yes, Yes, it's just unique when it matches against the
the matte color of the jersey where it's if it
was the old And I'm just gonna just say, instead
of Ken O'Brien, Richard Todd looking Jets helmet of that
like dullish Evergreen. I think it works with their jerseys more.

(24:09):
But the helmet alone as it stands, I think looks
really good. I thought the field looked great with that
big Jets in the end.

Speaker 3 (24:16):
It was a good look tonight. Yes, yes, ready for
prime time. And that new three D modeling they did
at halftime to show you why the Patriots couldn't move
the ball forward was great.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
I did not see it. I did not check out halftime.

Speaker 3 (24:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (24:30):
That the wing that Andrew Wentworth was using, Yeah, that
was his whole I got a shiny new toy.

Speaker 3 (24:35):
He had a huge monitor in front of him. It
was really odd. I mean, the modeling was kind of cool,
but just the setup. It's like they're still sitting at
the desk and now all of a sudden, he's got
a giant monitor in front of him.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
Man, I am not sorry. I missed that. All right.
It was all right, all right, I'll take your word
for it.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
Was a good bit. The aesthetics of it. I think
they need to work that. I was a little cluky.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
All right. Let's get to the cold sore for Week three.
The guys that you may usually have in your lineup,
but you may be a little cautious and may not
want him at all on the field comes Sunday or
Monday with that doubleheader. Mike whe your cold plays.

Speaker 3 (25:11):
This week, that is true, the Monday doubleheader. Good times.
Richardson going up against the Bears missing some easy throws.
I think they get after him in pressure and potential
for chaos. Now you might be saved by some rushing
yardage and one or two big heaves, but all in all,
it is not a pleasant experience to have to sit
there for sixty minutes wishing and hoping that you get

(25:32):
the promised Land mentioned Cede Lamb as a top option, Well,
I don't think his quarterback is though necessarily going up
against Baltimore. So Dak's a guy on Middley. I've got
him as a back end one, high end two alongside
Matthew Stafford. Why because he's got nobody laughed. They're all
hurt going up against San Francisco. Fortunately most of San
Francisco is as well. Last Man's standing match like an

(25:53):
old WWE promotion or one of the territories that I
watched in the late eighties, the last one and this
one we talked about him a little bit before, and
it's not because he maybe little broods Caleb Williams, but
it was c J. Stroud going up against Brian Flores
and just the curiosity of what kind of defensive looks

(26:13):
he's gonna get, not that he's gonna suddenly throw four interceptions.
Dico Collins is banged up a little bit. Joe Mixon
may not play go on as we record this late
on Thursday night, West Coast time. So for CJ. Stroud,
it's it's I'm not out on him altogether, but it's
one of those proceed with caution. Jeffy Roster for that

(26:33):
second guy earlier talked about the Bears running back position,
expecting more from Johnson and Herbert to try to help
that offensive line, give Caleb Williams a little bit of help.
DeAndre Swift is gonna pop. I don't think it's this week. Also,
Jerome Ford going up against the Giants run defense solid,
Mike Evans, I think he draws Patrick sertan question mark

(26:55):
mostly going up against Denver, so curiosity there and then
going back to San Francisco in the Rams, Brandon Ayuka
guy that I need to see it before I really
want to set him in my lineup just yet, especially
if I'm only in the two receiver league.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
Sure well, as you said the nine as we only
have two receivers.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
So the other guy shows up in the ninja list, Dan,
let's go Jennings.

Speaker 2 (27:18):
By the way, we'll get to the ninjas. I think
I call these the cold plays. So I mixed our
hot plays and cold sores with a very popular.

Speaker 3 (27:25):
Band that was all yellow.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
Yeah it was hopefully you cash in with the green
on Mike's Ninja's four Week three? Who are these ninjas,
Mike that you speak of?

Speaker 3 (27:36):
Gen No g No going up against Miami. Big opportunity
here again, expecting the defense to give your guys some
easy possessions on the platter to go work with and
deploying all of those weapons, even with you know, Kenneth
Walker the third still pango.

Speaker 2 (27:54):
I don't think, yeah, well you have Sharbona is one
of your hot plays. I don't think we're gonna say
c kW three this week.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Yeah, I think he sits another week, meaning the passing
game gets another look. How about Gardner Minshew going up
against Carolina gave that big comeback win in week two?
Look to build on that. How about Bucky Irving against
Denver because Rashaan Whitez banged up a groin injury. This
is one of the more curious matchups, right everybody's starting
to jump on board the Buccaneers bandwagon, and I don't

(28:22):
know what Denver can or will be banged up as well,
So maybe Javonte Williams can go in here as a
flex play for you because no Vi de Devea in
the middle to slow him down. Sama GP Ryan going
up against Atlanta going to that workload split, I'll take
the path lesser travels the secondary option there quick wide

(28:45):
receivers already mentioned Jennings going up against the Rams. Someone's
got to catch the ball. I mean, George Kittle banged
up as well. George Pickens going up against the Chargers.
You've had a couple of near misses brought back because
of penalty. I think it hits this week. That's one
of the more fast games because you know, the analogy
being used often this year seems to be rock fight

(29:06):
the Chargers and Steelers. This could be could be one
of those games for us DAN as we go, this
is thirteen to ten ish, Yeah, thirty five and a
half is the overrunner. I don't think it gets anywhere
close to that Boswell versus Dicker. Let's just have a
kickoff and go home.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
It's It's also the Garcia Bowl. Eddie Garcia, our team
Nfox Sports Radio, a lifelong Steelers fan, his wife Karen,
lifelong Chargers fan. They'll be in Pittsburgh for this game.
They sit in separate seats. I think they're going to
for this game as well. But when the Steelers and

(29:46):
Chargers have played in Pittsburgh, because they've gone previously, I
know Eddie has said that they sit in separate seats
and then they meet after the game.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
How about that. That's kind of an interesting little tidbit.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
Sure sure news him to cheer for his team and
her to cheer for hers, and then all is well
at home afterwards.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
Yeah, you know, that's that's a curiosity. Can we do
a documentary? I watch your flex presents, Keep a Home Happy,
Mike and damn one and a half point favorites are
the Pittsburgh stews. And finally, Hey, we teased that we'd
get to the Panthers eventually. And yeah, I referenced DeVante,
Adams and Gardner, Minshew and all earlier. How about a

(30:27):
little Adam feel in action with Andy Dalton.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
I like it.

Speaker 3 (30:31):
Let's get a little cheeky here with our w R three.

Speaker 1 (30:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
I don't know how the I don't know how the
Raiders prepare for Carolina. I would I would honestly think, Mike,
you're looking at maybe some buccaneer film from when Dave
Cadallis was in Tampa. Maybe you go to Seattle because
whatever Bryce Young was trying to do, you wasn't doing. No,
so you're probably not gonna see it on Sunday because

(30:54):
you actually have somebody who's capable of running an offense
running that offense.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
Hey, see the screen pass to the to the left.
Dalton's gonna get the ball there, so we're gonna have
to defend it. No, I don't mean to kill Bryce Young.
That guy was in a bad situation. I think he's
still seeing the sixty two sacks of a year ago.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
Yeah, there's yeah, there's a there's a constant, and the
constant seems to be ownership.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
There was a great Matt Rule interview. I heard a
clip from the other day, and they tried to bait
him kind of talking about the Bryce young thing. He goes, Look, man,
when we beat Calorado, I got a lot of calls
from the guys that were on that Carolina team. You
want to talk about tap dancing? One of the most
beautiful public relations, almost scripted answers I've ever heard. Like,

(31:40):
here's a man who's happy at life and has shut
that door.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Yes, yeah, it's good to move on. And I thought
that when Dave Temper took over that place, I thought
it was gonna be our r. It's going to be
a great owner. You know, he had previous stake in
the Steelers, minority stake in the Steelers. Prior to that thought, Hey,
what what better place to learn? Oh, I haven't learned
much there they are. They're hot plays, cold stores, and ninjas.

(32:06):
That actually did include a Carolina panther. For Week three,
all right, he's Mike Carmen. I'm Dan Byer. Hit Mike
up at Swollen Dome. Find me at Dan Byer on Fox.
Ian Roddy, our executive producer, is revving up his streaming defense.
My one week ban for Survivorpool in effect this week.
You're not getting a survivor, but we may talk about it.

(32:28):
Plus my oasis Song, Player of the Week, and Points
of Palooza. That's all coming up next. He's Mike Carmon.
I'm Dan Byer. This is I want your Flex. It
is I want air Flex. He's Mike Carmen, I'm Dan Byer,
and our executive producer, Ian Roddy is here for a

(32:48):
streaming defense of Week three. I know that this was
a tough, tough decision. Ian, you were battling between two
defenses even up in until kickoff of this podcast. Where
did you settle on our streaming defenses for Week three?

Speaker 4 (33:06):
I settled on the Green Bay Packers. So they're rostered.
They are rostered in twenty percent of leagues. The main
reason I'm going after them is because they're playing against
Will Levis. We've we've seen him produce incredible, turnover worthy
plays each of the first two weeks, like truly stupid plays.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
So you side with Callahan, Ryan Callahan saying like, what
the bleep are you?

Speaker 3 (33:32):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, that was great? Totally, that was great,
I am.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
But then also the Packers themselves deserve credit. They've had
five interceptions over the first two games of the season.
That's impressive, and I expect them to get another one
against Levis just because of his reckless mindset and how
he plays. And they performed last week against Indy they
had ten fantasy points and that was another quarterback who
you know is we have some questions about right now
and Anthony Richardson. So I like them to repeat that.

Speaker 2 (33:58):
And Green Bay's second, by the way, pretty should Yeah,
they should produce yea because you've got You've got guys
all around there and it's jyr Alexander, you, sim Xavier McKinney.
This offseason, there's no excuse to not play well in
that secondary.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
It's great that they're finally producing turnovers. Right. That was
a big thing in both Chicago and Green Bay, that
you'd have some great possessions, but you never got that
big turnover, right, and expectation Dan and you and I
do in the podcast the last couple of years, how
many times did we offer Green Bay up as a right,
here's an opportunity, and then they'd go through and maybe

(34:34):
they'd give up, you know, seventeen points, but they wouldn't
record the Saxon turnovers to get you over fantasy wise,
like you're not helping me here.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
It's funny when you just you look at the names
on Green Bay's defense, and it's not like it. It's
not a no name defense by any means, just certain
names aren't household names. But then you realize on how
many first round picks, and it's something that we actually
had talked about either in one of our preseason app
or one of our Week one episodes. But now's their

(35:03):
opportunity to cash in in Nashville. There will be a
lot of Packer fans at that game, that is for sure.
I don't know if it'll be an exact home field advantage,
but you're gonna hear a lot of Packer fans in Nashville.
Who was the other team that you were debating on,
who would we get the silver medal of your streaming defense?

Speaker 4 (35:20):
So i'd mentioned one at the top of the show,
and I'm actually going to say a different one than
I had mentioned. It was actually, yeah, the Buccaneers. Now, Mike,
you did mention that they are potentially without Vidavea. I
don't really care because they're playing Denver. To me, it's
just not a big deal because a Todd Bowles defenses
and this isn't just because of Vidavea. He always does

(35:41):
a great job getting those guys to stop the run.
And for Denver, if you can't stop the run, good
luck to Bonix. I just don't see him being able
to do much because we haven't seen it yet.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
So yeah, it's gonna be a tough one. Todd Bowles
and Jaden Daniels trying to figure out stuff in week
one and bow Nix is at a tough time go
from Pittsburgh to Tampa. Yeah, that's a little difficult.

Speaker 3 (36:03):
All right. Here's the question for both of you, though, Yes,
which rookie quarterback throws the first touchdown pass? Because as
of now, JJ McCarthy still tied for.

Speaker 4 (36:11):
The lead, it's you and I have the same number
of touchdown Patrice is the.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
Rookies perfect transition. Mike, Oh, let's go my Oasis song
this week? Cigarettes and alcohol. Yeah, they're not good for you,
but they're gonna be good for you and you're gonna
enjoy him this weekend. Caleb Williams, it's gonna happen, Mike,
look at you. Yes, I think that at some point

(36:36):
it's found to happen. And I think he's gonna be
the first one. Because Jane Daniels doesn't play until Monday night.
So it really that we've got it. We've got an
early kickoff on Sunday. I know that I'm that I'm
bending my rules, but for those that are just joining
the podcast in honor of Oasis' reunion, I'm gonna just
pick a player who I think can resemble an Oasis song.

(37:00):
Don't Look Back in Anger was Dak last week. Supersonic
was Kyler Murray in week one. And cigarettes and alcohol
they may not be good for you, but hey, let
people like to have a good time with him. And
that's what I think we're gonna get with Caleb Williams.
Maybe he hasn't been good, but it's gonna be fun
to play Caleb Williams. He may be running for his

(37:21):
life in Indianapolis. I just think that turns out to
be a fun game on Sunday. If the Bears can allow,
if the Bears defense can allow Anthony Richards in some
space and don't completely muzzle him, I think we could
have a fun one on the turf at Lucas Oil.

Speaker 3 (37:36):
Oh, let's get after forty three and a half to
total Indy a one and a half point favorite. Yeah,
I'll be at my TV. Maybe I'll be live streaming
my visceral reactions and we'll see if I could test
how much I can push the boundaries of my employment.

Speaker 2 (37:54):
I am not giving a survivor pick, but Ian's point
of the Buccaneers defense, I think you're probably going to
see some people jump on the Buccaneers for a survivor pick. Again. Yeah,
not my survivor pick. I am banning myself this week,
but I think that one is one that you're going
to see other people. I'm trying to get around my

(38:14):
one week ban and say, you guys want to take
a shot pick. You guys want to take a shot
at any of the survivor I mean there's you know,
Skyler Thompson's getting the start from Miami and Seattle, the
Monday Night Affairs, or the Bills and Bengals at home,
you guys want Since I've banned myself for my poor
survivor picks the first two weeks, you guys want to

(38:34):
pick up any slack on.

Speaker 3 (38:35):
This, I'll take a step. I'll run with the Raiders,
all right, Okay, perfect five point favorites, thirty nine and
a half. I think it's a better looking output with
some balance, maybe a little Chewba Hubbard action out of
the backfield for Carolina, but not enough to get the w.
I'm just talking straight wins and losses. I'll take the
Raiders to win at.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
Home my points of palooza, and I can't take the
team that are the teams that have the highest over
under because that is basically cheating Mike if I unless
I'm missing something. Lions Cardinals is the highest that I've
had this week, So I'm going to go a little
slightly lower than that one at forty seven and a half.
Right now, it's the last game of the week. Give

(39:17):
me Bengals, Commanders, you have Burrow third in your quarterbacking spot.
I think that happens, and if Cincinnati puts up a
lot of points, maybe Washington can keep track. I know
last week they didn't. They only kicked seven field goals
in the game. Only seven field goals the Giants. We
went through the whole issue of their kicking and how

(39:38):
they lost. The other fact of the matter is is
Washington actually dominated that game statistically. Just the Giants couldn't
take care of the advantages or their opportunities that they had,
but Washington was moving the ball. Brian Robinson was a threat.
So I think you could see the Commanders put some
points up against the Bengals in what could be a
fun game on Monday night in Cincinnati. My points at

(40:00):
Palooza for Week.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
Three, I dig it, dig it. I'm waiting to see
the breakthrough. There's a lot of talent there in Washington. Well,
it may not translate to wins and losses, expecting some
better things Cincinnati. We'll see if lou Maruno did I
get his name right yet? Ana Roumo, yeah, Anaumo. Whether
he can you know, terrorize Daniels as he's wont to

(40:24):
do with some others.

Speaker 2 (40:25):
I'll tell you they better have a chip on their
shoulder from how things ended in Kansas City. We'll see
if the Commanders can continue their their winning ways as
they try to put together a wind streak. But it
all starts at four thirty Eastern time on Monday night
with the Jaguars and Bills, and then forty five minutes
later Commanders and Bengals. Again. I'm not a huge fan

(40:46):
of it. I don't love it, but I guess if
you can get more football on a Monday night, go
for it.

Speaker 3 (40:52):
Just double it up for me, man, give you back
to backs, Yeah, started earlier.

Speaker 2 (40:57):
Yeah, absolutely, or just or yeah, spread it out just
a little bit more. You know, if the first game stinks,
then have the second game start. You know at that point,
maybe do a two hour window, but hey, what do
I know? Then maybe you could only do East Coast
West Coast teams. Who knows. But this way they can
jam in their two East Coast teams and have it

(41:18):
all be good. But I like the Monday night affair
that you've got with the Jaguars and Bills and Commanders
and Bengals, two non division rivals. You have a conference
matchup and then a cross conference deal. I like the
actual matchups. I just don't like when they kick off.

Speaker 3 (41:36):
There you have it, Mike, He's.

Speaker 2 (41:38):
Mike Carmen, I'm Dan Bayer, that's Ian Roddy. And that's
it for week three's episode of I Want Your Flex.
If you have any questions, you can always hit us
up prior to kickoff. Mike, You're always busy Sunday morning
answering the questions at Swollen Dome. You can find me
at Dan Byer on Fox. And if you need any
streaming defense or just advice in life in general. End
up being roddy at Ian, roddy underscore, I got you.

(42:01):
Any last words Mike before we say goodbye.

Speaker 3 (42:04):
Hopefully some normalization, some more, some better quarterback play. Right,
That's the thing I keep wishing on because as much
as I like field goal kickers, but guys thirty five
fifty plus at this point through two weeks, let's get
a little bit more aggressive with those offenses. Come on,
let's hit some big eters.

Speaker 2 (42:22):
I am down with that. So for Ian and Mike,
I'm Dan Pyre. Yeah, it's good. The ends on this weekend,
this as I want your flex
