I hate football. I I hate your fall again. I
hate Fook. You loved it last night, I did? I did.
I hate football.
Speaker 4 (00:55):
I mean it was the greatest thing in the world yesterday.
I mean you were doing snow angels on the carpet
in the Fox Sports Radio show.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Oh Stanford, when's the last time they won a conference game?
Speaker 3 (01:07):
Stanford? Like eight years ago? Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:09):
Here they are brandond of the acc Syracuse looks like
they don't practice for the last two weeks. And Stanford
beat Syracuse last second field goal from thirty eight yards away,
wins it twenty six, twenty four.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
Well, they say, no man is an island except that
cornerback on that back shoulder.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
Oh, I mean set him up for the field goal.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
I would be the best defensive backs coach in the
history of the game because all I would do for
practice two and a half hours every day are ball skills.
That's all I would do is ball skills. When the receiver,
when you're looking at the receiver and he stops to
turn around, he's no longer running his pattern, but he's
turning to square himself to the ball, that's you turn
your head and put your hand up.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
I mean, come on, it's that simple.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
Yeah, you accidentally almost touched the ball though, Oh as
it's sailed in. He he almost got a hand on
it without even having any idea it was there.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
I mean a fourth and eight play and Stanford throws
a back shoulder fade one on one coverage and that
was the play, Like this wasn't It was that there
was no scrambling around, it was this is our play.
We can do this to you. We know we can
do it, and that's at the first down. Two plays
later they kicked the field goal. They beat Syracuse twenty
six twenty four. Well, the Kyle McCord has fun for
(02:17):
a while. Yeah, no, it was fun for a while.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Yeah. Yeah, but mccordad is good.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
I mean, all those T shirts you have in storage, yeah,
problem now you need to find someone who'll take them on.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Yeah, the McCord Heisman T shirts.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
I don't know that I'm gonna uh yeah, that's that's
tough now because he had a craptastic game tonight.
Speaker 5 (02:35):
Man.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Uh two bad picks, one was a pick six, did
get them down for touchdown at the end. But it
doesn't matter because hey we're Stanford. Suddenly we're not bad,
even though we can't beat anybody else. No, we're Stanford.
Here we go. Meanwhile, the game of the night right now, Hey,
we got something going on on Fox. Illinois ed Nebraska
twenty four to twenty four. The Alion I throw a
(02:57):
touchdown pass to alignment. Yeah, to tie the game at
twenty four. You know, as Mad mcgoll oh, it's a
big guy touchdown, A big guy, the big guy touchdown.
Big guy touchdown twenty four, twenty four, ten and a
half to go in the fourth quarter. Riola for Nebraska
right now. Three touchdowns through the air. He's also thrown
for two hundred and sixty yards right now. If I
(03:17):
had to say, Dylan Rayola better than Patrick Mahomes, does
the guy who wants to like Mahomes look? Is he
better than Mahomes right now?
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Wow? I think so.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
I think he's also, you know, tasked to do a
little more, and we always know the separation of talent
a little more stark in college football than once you
get to the NFL. But I'll go with it. I'll
go with it. He's emulated him. Well, this is like
fake Paul Gasol and all the free meals and drinks
he was able to get around Crypto dot Com all
those years.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
So I will go that the guy who looks like
Mahomes is playing better than Mahomes right now.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
Yeah. No, I think you're right.
Speaker 5 (03:58):
Man.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
It's been a hell a hot team, this lot of fun. Well,
I mean, look, burn it down to hear some tell it.
Patrick Mahomes has been horrible through the first two weeks. Again,
here's a hug, here's a hug. They're tuning up players
to win.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
What do you want? What do you want? Every week?
Speaker 4 (04:16):
Can't be three point fifty and three. When you do
that for like eight years, people's okay, you're kinda gonna
do that now, all right, we kind of expect as,
Oh no, no, it's just gonna be a slog every
week now because suddenly we're not dynamic anymore. It's September.
It's September. You're feeling out a bunch of new parts,
and your guy, your main safety blanket, right, security blanket
(04:41):
guy is just back from the road off of a
summer in Europe. He's still rounding into shape. I'm gonna
I'm gonna try to find myself. I'm gonna backpack through
You're gonna take a gap year. I'm not gonna go
to Kyle's gonna take a gap year. I'm gonna backpack
through Europe and try to find myself and see what
I like. And oh, by the way, Mom and dad,
I need you to pay for this year for me
to backpack all the way, because you know, I don't
(05:02):
have that kind of money.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
So it's kind of what I want to do. Want
to go on that big adventure and find myself. That's
what I want. Yeah, you can go fund yourself.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Yeah, but yeah, like but like I said, it doesn't
matter because I hate football.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
So it's no I know.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
I mean all the good will and positivity of the
last twenty four hours, I mean, well, I mean it
really was the last twelve days, right, it was eleven
days of Jets football. Even with the loss to the
forty nine ers. You and I were on airs that transpired.
It was like, all right, there's some positives to take.
You know, you're not looking at going in and beating
(05:36):
the hell out of the forty nine ers. Eve with
the offseason stuff. Most of those guys were still available
week one. If you'd lost to them in week two,
maybe we'd have another question. But week two again not pretty.
But you came away with the wright. That's all that matters.
Succeed and proceed little baby steps. Week three again, we
can talk about the Patriots and everybody today doing the
(05:58):
they're gonna win three games, so how good is It's
a win and the dude was mobile and he made place,
and there's a confidence.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
It's not hard to see. It's not hard to see.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
But all of that just ruined because Kyle McCord's Heisman
Trophy candidacy and your nine and a half point favorite
status against Stanford.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
Went to hell.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
I mean it was just that was just shoulder fade
on fourth night, I know now here and here's the
thing on a Friday night. Because I'm all about positivity,
and just because I hate for it doesn't mean I'm
not going to talk about it.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Right, that's well, you know what I can do for you? Though?
What can you do? But I can't?
Speaker 4 (06:34):
I sent you something to you know, via messenger there
in the Twitter verse. I need you to open it
up because it's gonna make it feel better. While like,
all right, let me say go to Twitter hang on, well,
hang on, it sends you this hide item.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
My name is Mike, I am a prince. I have
five million dollars.
Speaker 5 (06:52):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Is that the one? Though locked away in a secure vault?
Speaker 5 (06:56):
Okay?
Speaker 4 (06:57):
Hang onctora a bull whip okay.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
And a couple of sidekicks Okay, it says NSF w Uh, Wow,
look at.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
This Is that the one? No, that's the one? Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
H McDonald's launches BFF Fries available only in the Philippines. Wow,
this is like big double orders of French fries.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
So like if you're hanging out with your bestie and
you're gonna have a movie night, here's a giant ass
bucket of fries.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
That's traditional.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
But but you know what I could do is I
could just buy you two orders of fries.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
Yeah, because you know.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
What, because we don't live in the Philippines, so I
can't get these fries.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
Okay, can't get them. I can't get them. They're on
their way.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
They've got to have proof of concept around the globe
before it comes to the United States. Where how does
this not exist in the United States where our appetites are.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
Bigger than it?
Speaker 4 (07:45):
Uh, you know, I mean there's a single serving for
a lot of people.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
I'd love to get those BFF fries. I could just, uh,
you want to order two large fries and you'll get
the same amount.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
Oh that's a great idea. I'll just do that instead.
Great like the box all right, Yeah, no, I want
the big marketing. It's all about marketing. Maybe all about marketing.
I just tried to make you feel better with your
favorite corporate logo, is really all it was.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
I was trying to help you out on a Friday.
I appreciate that, buddy. Thank you. We got Pete fu
Tech coming up in a few minutes.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
All the latest on college football Big Week this week
as we take a look at some of the big
games again, we'll have him after Illinois Nebraska about eight
and a half to go in this.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
But speaking of college football.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
The biggest game this week, this is where izig when
you think I'm gonna zag, Hey, oh, Michigan Texas in
the big house.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
No Texas is.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
Gonna roll Michigan.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
I told you, and it happened.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
The big game tomorrow Michigan and USC, the first of
many Big ten rivalry games between USC and Michigan. You know,
you throw the record books out when these two teams play. Look,
Michigan's still in the top twenty five after they're lost
to Texas, and as time goes on, I don't think
that lost of Texas is going to be is something
that's really bad. I told you at last hour, Texas
(09:03):
best team in the country right now, it's not even close.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
USC is also.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
Playing extremely well and everybody is high on what's going
on with Lincoln Riley and USC. And yes, they have
turned the page from the Caleb Williams era into the
Miller Moss era and it's going pretty well. But I
will tell you this, This point spread has been coming
down all week long and right now it's USC anywhere
you want to go from four and a half to five,
(09:26):
And I would have gotten this with six a few
days ago. But I like Michigan and the points this
week against the USC. Well, then let me tell you,
first of all, Michigan playing at home obviously, and the
change at quarterback is going to help. Right Orgy coming
into play, and he's not a great thrower, but he's
(09:47):
a dual threat quarterback. There's no tape on him, and
the offense can't be any worse than it's been the
last few weeks. Right Davis Warren just couldn't complete enough passes,
kept turning the football over. That's what killed him, and
Michigan clearly needs something to jump start their offense. He
will jump start the offense a bit tomorrow. Michigan's gonna
show out early. They know it's a big game. They
(10:09):
know they they wound up winning by ten over a
team they should have beat by fifty last week. And
maybe a little bit of look ahead coming into USC.
But Michigan's gonna come up big early as USC tries
to get their footing, playing this time in the big
house for the first time all these kids. It's gonna
be a thing. Their defense will slow USC for a
while and make it difficult because Michigan's defense is still very,
(10:30):
very good. They got three players who are gonna go
in the first round of the draft, right, Michigan's defense
is still really good.
Speaker 5 (10:36):
Now.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
As the game goes on, USC will slowly get their
footing and they'll start to be able to move the
football a little bit. Michigan will find it a little
more difficult to get the ball down the field. But
this has all the earmarks of a three point win,
USC getting a field goal late to win, the fact
that Michigan's getting as many as five some places. Like
I said earlier in the week, because I had this
(10:58):
game picked at Michigan plus six, I feel really good
about this. USC is still a really talented team, really
talented offensively. But Michigan is still a little bit better
than you think everywhere except for the quarterback position. Unfortunately,
it's the most important position on the field, So they're
gonna be They're gonna struggle a lot this year. This
definitely looks like a pre Connor Stallion's era at Michigan.
(11:20):
But they're gonna come up with a big effort tomorrow.
It's gonna be close. I'll give me usc By a
field goal, but Michigan's gonna look really, really good for
most of the game, and you're gonna think maybe they
have something going on for the rest of the year.
But it's gonna be a two lost Michigan team and
what are you gonna do the rest of the schedule.
But it's gonna be a close one. And I like
Michigan with the points.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
Talked about the Heisman odds a little bit earlier Miller
Moss right now forty eight to sixty six. That's a
seventy three percent completion rate, two touchdowns, zero picks. They've
been able to hit the deep ball on occasion. I
think that's where some of the hay gets made here
against this Michigan defense, because they'll have to sell out
(11:59):
try to get some stops, leaving for some of those
I don't know, one on one situations like we saw
for Syracuse and their defense. Sorry, Buddy, I had to
do it the one hundred and sixteenth on defense last
year is thus far ac quitting themselves quite nicely and
renewed hope as they enter the Big ten schedule. Spreads
(12:21):
bounced all over the place, coaching changes, quarterback changes, you
name it, from when it opened to where it is now.
I don't know that you've seen bigger swings of a
point spread anywhere from five to six as we're looking
at it. The last I saw on the grid, I'll
take usc lay in the points. Michigan keeps it close,
but that late score is the difference.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
You know, And the thing is and this is what
really has bothered has bothered me the most about the
defending champs in Michigan this year is that I know
that JJ McCarthy potentially surprised Michigan by going pro after
last year, but he ascended enough to the point where
the NFL wanted him.
Speaker 3 (13:02):
And look, when the NFL wants.
Speaker 5 (13:03):
You, you go that.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
That's how it is.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Hey, you were hot, you won the national championship, you
beat Ohio State again, what else are you gonna do?
Speaker 3 (13:09):
And look to the raft.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
This wasn't a hey, I'm gonna be a Day two guy.
I just don't want to be here anymore. Yeah, no, no, No,
he was.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
No one's ever leaving Michigan more decorated a quarterback than
JJ McCarthy. Three Big Ten championships, three three and a
over Ohio State and a national championship. I mean, he's
the most decorated quarterback in team mystery right in the
probably one hundred and fifty years Michigan's been playing football,
even before football was invented Michigan.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
Think about it in thirty years when they bring him
back for nostalgia Day. You gotta listen to the whole show,
you really do.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
But this, but this is what surprised me is that.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
This should be the year where Michigan is, Hey, we're
putting in our new five star guy a little bit earlier.
Well we we accelerate the jump for him, because Michigan.
This this isn't this era of Michigan where it's a
it's a walk on. And look at Davis Warren was
a highly touted recruit five years ago. The guy's coming
back from leukemia. Uh, he's a great story. But by
(14:10):
and large, I mean just just think about where Michigan is.
Should Michigan be saying, hey, our quarterbacks are either uh
you know, a form of a walk on who you
know hasn't really played in five years, and and a
gadget quarterback that we don't know how he.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
Can throw the football?
Speaker 1 (14:25):
Like, how is how are these two guys the guys
that Michigan is choosing from, because a third guy is
like a seventh year senior, you know, like, how is
where is that? How do you not have that next
guy in the building? How do you not say, hey,
JJ McCarthy's going into this year. It's a big year,
but we know we're gonna need somebody at some point
because he's gonna go to the NFL. How do you
not capitalize? And you're in the midst of crushing Ohio
(14:47):
State going to the college football playoff?
Speaker 3 (14:49):
Where's that? Where's that guy? Why is that guy not here?
Why is that guy not playing?
Speaker 4 (14:54):
I mean, you go down the rosters, like where's they
should be saying, Hey, we we got the number five
guy in the country. We got the number four recruited
quarterback in the country. How does Michigan not have that?
Speaker 1 (15:04):
And that's what really baffles me about this because for
the last few years, look, you're turning offensive talent and
back and forth. And I get it because across the board. Hey,
Michigan's got a lot of talent. Now, they lost a
lot of it last year to the NFL because it
was the best team they've had in fifty years. So
many guys went to the NFL. They're all terrific. But
this is still a talented enough team where you're turning
(15:25):
over talent going to the NFL. But quarterback, you shouldn't
be at the spot. Like I can look around ago,
was there just a gap? Like was did someone not
get the responsibilities? You didn't get that next guy coming in?
Somebody knew that. Hey, at the very least, I sit
for a year and then McCarthy goes to the NFL,
and then I play like, that's that should should be
easy for somebody.
Speaker 4 (15:46):
Well, but that's the question, right in terms of the
gap in the recruiting process, communications and trusting the process
in a post Harbaugh world, Right that you had the
the number of coaches that left as the season ended,
the number of players that graduated, moved on, transferred, whatever else,
(16:09):
and that it leaves you with a bit of uncertainty.
So maybe you were at the you know, one yard
line with a couple of recruits and the uncertainty going
back two years or wherever you want to do it
for har But I remember when they wanted to fire
him a couple of years ago.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
Yeah, oh sure, that was great.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
I love going back through those days and now that
everybody loves Harbaugh and everything he does. But it's just
that reality of, you know, when you have a coaching
turnover and trying to figure out philosophies and where you're headed,
that maybe there is that disconnect to where the guy
you thought was secured suddenly ended up at Michigan State
(16:48):
or insert Ohio state or insert school year.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
That leaves you holding the bag.
Speaker 4 (16:54):
And I think that's where they're at right now, trying
to find that next option and stability, hoping that the
best of the recruits and the strength of the defense
is enough to carry him.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
I mean I know that.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Look they brought in this kid, Jayden Davis, and it's
like he couldn't win the job.
Speaker 4 (17:09):
Like he was a bigger, He couldn't win the job. Really,
he couldn't win. You couldn't win the job as a freshman. Really,
he couldn't be he couldn't beat these guys out as
a freshman, Like.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
I don't understand how you don't have a guy coming
in who's ready, you know, I mean, you can't have it.
You can't have a gap year coming off the national
championship and say, okay, we've won.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
That's it. I get that Harbor went to the NFL,
but I mean, how do you I don't.
Speaker 4 (17:32):
But the other thing is negative negative recruiting is a
very real thing, right, So everything that was swirling around
the program as well has to be contemplated as well
as you know, you could sell a kid and his
family of Hey, they're not done with shangs and jet
They're not done with this Connor Stallion stuff. Hell, they
haven't even adjudicated that they did all the stuff for
(17:53):
cheeseburger Gate. They haven't even done this yet. Wait till
the other shoe drops. That might be enough to push
a kid somewhere else, even if they're was set on Michigan,
just saying wow, I'll be playing with a there'll be
a reduced scholarship level at this school. We won't be
able to play maybe in the postseason.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
I mean, think about it.
Speaker 4 (18:11):
There's some crafting is go through your big ten coaches,
bring them all up and start checking them off. That
guy would do it. That guy would do it. Negative recruiting.
It ain't about hey, we want you to come here.
It's like, hey, Michigan's on the hook for some bad stuff.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Man. You watch what just went down.
Speaker 1 (18:27):

Well right now, college football, Big Fox Nebraska using their
(21:03):
final time out, they are tied with Illinois twenty four
twenty four forty five seconds left to go in the
fourth quarter. Nebraska has pretty much led this one throughout,
but Illinois gets a big guy touchdown to tie the
game of twenty four and now they have the football
and they are driving. Just when I say, here comes
(21:24):
Nebraska coming out of sports Stonehengine, They're gonna matter again.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
No no, no, no, no no.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
No, I'm not gonna happen. Here comes Illinois and Brett Pelema. Yeah,
we're gonna come and ruin everything for Nebraska. They have
the ball at midfield, forty five seconds left to go.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
Yeah, this drive coming after a missed field goal from
Nebraska to try to take the lead, drifts wide.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
Left and one of those things. And I just tweeted
about this, Jason.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
I'm not a huge fan of taunting calls in general,
but it's on the books, and we see it called
a bunch. After the kicker missed his head's down and
he's walking. Dude from Illinois walked about fifteen yards with
him and kept jawing at him like that doesn't constitute
a flag in today's college I've seen guy's flag for
(22:10):
far less than that. But you know, he misses the
field goal and now we have the ensuing drive Bilaman
company trying to make a play.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
Hey, what happened on that?
Speaker 1 (22:19):
Well, he walked over and initially I was hurt by
his words, and then I stuff at an injury. Okay,
are you all right? Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, you know what.
No penalty for taunting. We're okay, just jawing at him,
point ad him the whole thing. I'm like, referee doesn't
step in at any point.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
Like, all right, aren't you gonna say anything? They they
hate kickers too, Now, aren't you gonna say anything? Dude?
You missed the field goal?
Speaker 5 (22:45):
Not me.
Speaker 4 (22:45):
He could say whatever hell he wants, that's head if
you split it through the uprights.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
He ain't saying it. It is he is.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
So Illinois on fourth down has decided to punt, so
Nebraska will take over inside their ten yard line. Twenty
six seconds Nebraska out of timeouts. I am sure they
will kneel on the football and go to overtime.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
But it is Matt Ruhle. You never know. Well, when
you have mini mahomes, let's go. Yeah, you got many
mahomes playing better than regular mahomes, and the kick her
with plenty of confidence.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
Right now, So time now for Mike and I to
give you our upset special picks of the week.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
We do it every week in the NFL. I'm not
gonna say no, no, no music yet. Ty shirt.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
I am no music yet, no music again, because here's
the thing, all right now, through the first three.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
Weeks of the season, right, there might be some of
that coming. First three weeks of the season.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
I am seven and two overall, right, seven and two
in upset specials, Right, I'm feeling pretty good. Ask me
what my record is if you don't count the bleeping games.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
I picked the Rams. Yeah, ask me who my record
is there? Hey, Jason, what would your record be?
Speaker 4 (23:50):
Seven and zero? Baby, I would be undefeated if I
didn't pick that. My only two losses. First, I'm taking
the Rams. Nope, nope, they blow it over time. I'm
taking the Rams. No, they don't show up up against
the Arizona Cardinals. I mean the Rams might be on
my never again was pretty I mean, I tried to
tell you last week.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
You wouldn't hear it. But buddy, it was one point.
Come on, it's one point against the Cardinals, now, come on, dude.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
And then well, and then one by one they started
falling apart like they were in a horror movie.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
I mean, it was awful. One. I mean, I mean,
I think I just left his left laying back there.
I'm undefeated. Except when I picked the Rams. You know,
I don't do that anymore. Although this week they're actually
an interesting bet. Yeah yeah, six.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
And a half seventy four the money on the forty
nine in this But dude, I can't do that again.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
You can't. There's no way I cannot do that again.
I cannot pick the Rams again. They have screwed me
both weeks.
Speaker 4 (24:47):
You know, that game might be just this side of
h I mean, at least both quarterbacks are upright, But
that might be just this side of the Steelers Chargers
game we were talking about earlier.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
Of Man, this could be ugly. Yeah, yeah, it could be.
It could be proved.
Speaker 4 (25:02):
I mean the over under are still a bit higher.
Of course, forty three and a half only in that
one though, but it's still a full ten points higher
because you know, we're comparing the worst of worst.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
So that being said, Okay, now, Tischer, now the music
can come in.
Speaker 3 (25:17):
Now we can.
Speaker 7 (25:17):
I don't feel like doing the music now.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
Oh come on, man, man, come on music, man.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
Well that one it's been a long long time.
Speaker 7 (25:29):
There you go, uh.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
First one, and I feel great about this one. And
you're gonna say, wait a minute, you said he wasn't
any good. I know Sam Donald is no good. I
get this, but I will take the Vikings getting too
over the Texans. Not because of Sam Donald. I told
you Sam has played fine. But I've seen this script before.
(25:51):
Once the NFL gets about four games on them, things
are different. Everybody thought he was a world beater with
the Carolina Panthers, and what happened. He lost his job
midway through the season. But things are still going well
for Minnesota. And the bottom line is there's some defenses
around the league. We don't spend enough time talking about
the Jets defense. Yes, they're terrific. We don't spend enough
time on defenses like the Bears, and we certainly don't
(26:13):
spend enough talking about the Minnesota Vikings because that defense,
if you had any questions about it, they showed you
last week against a really good offense. They are legit.
It is a top five unit. They are incredibly impressive.
I watch what Chicago defense did to see j Stroud.
They slowed them down enough where if they were able
to get any pulse of an offense at all, they
(26:34):
would have won that game over the Texans. And the
Texans have weapons coming out of their ears. Two of
their guys it won't even catch any passes, are better
than half the guys in the league. So I watched
that last week and I saw with how good the
Bears defense is, the Vikings defense is better. It's gonna
be an ugly game for the Texans. On Sunday, Minnesota
wins on the field to go to three to zero.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
I won't need the two points, and really it's two points,
but I'll still take them because you know, you never know.
Speaker 3 (26:59):
But the Vikings win this game on the field. They
beat the Texans.
Speaker 4 (27:03):
Flora's and Company getting after it again. Does Sam Darnold
do the speech? Mike him up, Let's see does he
emulate it, go word for word and do the pullback
if Stroud tries to walk away.
Speaker 3 (27:14):
I'm gonna take the.
Speaker 4 (27:14):
Packers on the road getting two and a half against
the Titans down.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
Wait a minute, now, this is regardless as to who
plays it.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
I don't care who quarterback willis.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
Even if Milik willis wow, Okay, okay, willis? What if
it's Craignall playing quarterback? Can he hand the ball off
and the defense still play?
Speaker 3 (27:34):
Okay? So regardless of quarterback, you're taking the Packers.
Speaker 4 (27:37):
All right, I'm not banking on Will Levis to give
the ball away again. I think he's been shamed enough,
including having to change his phone number. We talked about
that earlier in the week as one of the odd
stories in sports. But Packers good balance, banged up a
little bit at tailback, but looking for Jacobs to have
himself a day wide receivers spread it out. Doesn't have
(27:57):
to be world beating. I don't need three hundred and
fifty out of the combination of love slash Willis. No,
we just need to be efficient, kick some field goals
and let the defense go to work.
Speaker 3 (28:07):
So give me the Packers on the road.
Speaker 4 (28:10):
Give me the Eagles getting three over the Saints. Yeah,
let's go. The Saints have played really well the first
two weeks. You would think they were the Broncos the
first year with Peyton Manning.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
The way everybody's talking about them. Oh, look at all
they rolled up against the Cowboys. Remember, the Cowboys might stink.
Just understand that they beat the worst team in the
NFL the first week, and the Cowboys might just think, yes,
I get it. But New Orleans suddenly isn't turning into
world beaters. Because they figured out pre snap motion, right.
But that's oh, look at what they're doing. This is
an Eagles team that is going to come back off
(28:44):
this disaster of a loss on Monday Night. The drop
by Saquon Barkley, the ridiculously bad decision by Nick Sirianni
to go for it on fourth down early, the lack
of any sort of aggressiveness at the end of the
game to allow Kirk Cousins to drive down the field.
This has been one of those games that you can
tell is sticking in the Eagles crawl all week long.
This is a big bounce back and focus game for them.
(29:07):
They should be two and zero. They're the better team, right.
I expect the offense to play well, and I expect
them to get a lot of pressure on Derek Carr
and that turns him into a different quarterback. I'm not
gonna need the points, but I'll take them because the
Eagles are gonna win on the field.
Speaker 4 (29:22):
I dig that. I mean the Bears are an obvious
pick plus one and a half at Indianapolis, so I
don't need to belabor the point. They torment Anthony Richardson
create a couple of chaotic plays in a way you go,
so we'll dig a little bit deeper.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
Give me the just. Here's how I see that, kid, Just,
here's how I say that.
Speaker 5 (29:38):
Kid.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
I see the Bears winning that game sixteen to nothing
midway through the fourth quarter, and Anthony Richardson is like
two for fifteen for eight yards, and then suddenly at
the end of regulation, Anthony richards thrown for two touchdowns,
run for two two point conversions, and we're.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
Sixteen sixteen going overtime. I like that. That's how that
cos gonna potential for chaos.
Speaker 4 (30:01):
Look as long as it's a good watch, and in
the end, you know, my pick of the Bears comes through.
Speaker 3 (30:06):
I don't pick them a lot.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
So it's you know, it's going out on the you know,
and putting that nationally, but putting fandom, heart and head
all in the same place. This is problematic, which is
why this pick might be even more problematic. I'm gonna
take the Giants getting six and a half against the Browns.
A lot being written and talked about in terms of
six being the number in the line of demarcation, in
(30:28):
terms of teams and covering in et cetera. Quarterback play
for the Browns still scares me. The Giants defense can
get after it and Daniel Jones and company make enough plays.
Jalen Hyatt geting a lot of ink for a guy
who's done nothing through two weeks. Lo and behold he's
he factors into the box score and they get the
cover and maybe the win out right on the road.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
Now, what you said six six and a half is what? Okay?
Are you taking over under for that game.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
That is currently at thirty nine and a half. That's
way too high.
Speaker 3 (31:05):
This is the worst.
Speaker 4 (31:05):
Come on, So look week three of the NFL, we
have thirty nine and a half for Carolina Las Vegas.
We have thirty nine and a half for Giants Cleveland,
thirty seven and a half for thirty secon shut up
in a row, Green Bay, Tennessee. Thirty five and a
half downward pressure now pushed through to thirty four and
(31:28):
a half for the Chargers at Pittsburgh. We've got forty
and a half for Denver Tampa Bay. Yeah, it's if
you were looking for points this week, Nope, more field
goal contests.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
Let's go all right, I really think that thirty nine
and a half is way too high. Did you put
it a little bit if you put it at twenty
nine and a half, I would say, I think that
that might be a little too high.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
It might be a little too hot twenty. So there's
our upste breaking records. So the week.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
I like getting the game once in a while in
the twenties for overunder time out of find out what's
trending in the wide world of sports, from special delivery
Steve to Sager.
Speaker 3 (32:09):
Steve, what do you got for tonight?
Speaker 8 (32:10):
My friend Shoe Heyl TODDI is just homered in LA
to give the Dodgers the lead. It's three to two
over Colorado games in the top of the sixth. This
was home run number fifty two for him. The Dodgers
first place in the NL West, four games over the Padres.
They'll be facing the Padres in a series next week.
The regular season at MLB ends a week from Sunday.
The Padres in action right now and leading two nothing
(32:33):
over the White Sox in the bottom of the seventh.
Joe Musgrove was six innings of work and nine strikeouts.
Great outing for the Yankees Garrett Cole tonight, but the
Yanks are tied one to one at Oakland. In the
top of the ninth cole with eight innings of work
eighty five pitches thrown. Everything else is a final. Kansas
City lost. Cleveland won, in fact in that Guardian's win
(32:54):
five to one at Saint Louis, Jose Ramirez with his
thirty sixth homer and his fortieth stolen base of this
Houston and Seattle with victories. Arizona gotta win. Miami beat
Atlanta four to three. The Braves still two games out
of the last NL wildcard spot behind the Mets, who
were beaten up at home by Philadelphia twelve to two.
Alec Bohm four hits, including a three run homer. The
(33:16):
Phillies clinched a playoff berth tonight. Minnesota in twelve innings
won at Boston four to two. A combined thirty two
men left on base in that game, but the Twins
are now one game over Detroit for the final AL
playoff spot, and Mariners still two games behind Minnesota for
that last wildcard. Detroit loss seven to one at Baltimore's.
(33:37):
The Orioles hit five home runs to college football It's
just Gone Final on Fox TV, and overtime win for
Illinois at Nebraska thirty one to twenty four. Each team
was three to zero and ranked coming into this Big
Ten opener. The late game at Washington State has the
Cougars ahead late first half twenty one to ten over
(33:57):
San Jose State. Stanford won it's open in the ACC,
kicking a field goal of thirty nine yards on the
final play to win at Syracuse twenty six to twenty four.
Emmitt Kenny went four for four on field goals, including
hitting a fifty one yarder in this close game. Stanford
in the Pac twelve lost twenty one of its last
(34:17):
twenty four games, but got the win on the road tonight.
A reminder Saturday afternoon on Fox TV number twelve, Utah,
number fourteen Oklahoma State four pm Eastern Time. The seventy
six Ers gave Joel Embiid to three year MAX extension.
Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon is doubtful for Sunday
with an ankle injury, forty nine Ers tight end George
Kittle is doubtful with a hamstring injury, and Jacksonville tight
(34:40):
end Evan Ingram missed practice again with a bad hamstring.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
Back to you, Thank you, STEVEO Wow, I got to
tell you how this Illinois Nebraska game just end insane.
In overtime, Illinois scored to go up thirty one to
twenty four. Nebraska has the football and through a really
bad confluence of circumstances, they were faced with a third
and forty two. Now that's a tough convert even from
Matt Oh. Yeah, No's third and forty two is tough.
(35:04):
They throw a pass for about seven or eight yards
and the receiver gets helmet to helmet contact twice, once
getting knocked out of bounds and another when he's already
out of bounds, right in front of the referee. The
referee is five feet away watching what happened. Defensive player
takes a step and helmet to helmet's the receiver.
Speaker 3 (35:26):
And no flag is called.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
I mean, I know it's third and forty two, but wow,
that was a huge thing that Illinois got away with.
I don't know how you don't call that in front
of the ref Nebraska gets sacked on fourth down, and
now Minnie Mahomes.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
Loses his first game of the season. Illinois beats Nebraska.
Speaker 4 (35:42):
His Heisman campaign is over too. Dude gets head butted
out of bounds. Yeah, and then gets headbutted again, and
then the first defender turns the official and starts waving
his finger at him, like you better not call that.
I'm like, all right now, you're taunting the official, Like
what are we doing here?
Speaker 3 (35:58):
Like? How does the flag not come out? And all
you're worried about is spotting where he went on a bounds.
It's insane.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon Live from the Ti
rack dot Com Studios. Coming up next, we'll take a
look at a very special preview for one game in
the NFL because there is a magic word.
Speaker 3 (36:17):

Speaker 4 (36:22):
Well, we don't stream like it's Peewee's playoffs. It is
a must here and it's coming up next. Jason and Mike,

Speaker 4 (36:38):
Wow, every no, I meant like there are no horses
listen not let.
Speaker 3 (36:48):
Yeah, I am much like a streaming service.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
Hey, tight shirt, Let's go a little slow on the
horses here.
Speaker 7 (36:55):
Gary, we're like Aaron Rodgers baby, And he said on
Joe Rogan, we're taking.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
The perks here. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten

Speaker 1 (37:11):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon live from the tyrack dot Com studios.
And now we've got a lot of big previews tonight
taking a look at some of the big games in
college football. The NFL going to continue that on but
because it is fun on a Friday night, we want
to bring you this from an NFL star about the
(37:34):
upcoming game that he's playing in on Sunday. And this
is one of those things you're gonna hear and understand
there is a word of the day that goes with
this sound you're gonna hear. This is Ed Oliver of
the Buffalo Bills, who is talking about the game coming
up against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Speaker 3 (37:55):
All right, now, you know, you know, you get stuff
every week.
Speaker 1 (37:58):
You never know what you're gonna get from players as
they want to break stuff down, never know what they're
going to talk about.
Speaker 3 (38:02):
You have no idea, but Monday night.
Speaker 4 (38:05):
Jaguars and the Bills, the whole world is going to
be watching, and what kind of game are we going
to see?
Speaker 3 (38:11):
Well?
Speaker 4 (38:12):
And Oliver kind of has an idea, and you're gonna
understand exactly what the word of today is here on
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (38:19):
Take a listen.
Speaker 5 (38:20):
Weird.
Speaker 9 (38:21):
It's just a very very weird game. And I addressed
a team whore. I addressed my d line about that,
just about how weird these games could be. I remember
the game we played in Jacksonville and its sunny day,
I mean a great day.
Speaker 5 (38:33):
I remember it vivily.
Speaker 9 (38:35):
But it was just a weird, a weird aura. And
then playing in London, it was just a weird I
can't even explain. It was just a weird game. And
I ain't never beat these guys, so it's just weird, man.
It's just I'm just letting the guys know, like it's
a weird I don't know what it is, man, it's
just a weird and I speak lifing to it. So
this game won't be weird, but the past two times
been weird. We then started slow, just very weird games.
(38:56):
I'll go back and watch it. I think the first
time we played what it's called like nine to six
something like that, some what was it nine to six?
Come on, like we're playing NFL game is nine to six,
like I think I remember Josh Allen catching a pick
on Josh Allen, I remember that, like like it's just
a weird game, like Dlane can catch a pick, but it's.
Speaker 5 (39:14):
Just a weird game. I remember that, VIVIDI just you're
just weird, man.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
So so what are you drunk? What do you what
do you think get older? It's about this game against
the jack war.
Speaker 4 (39:25):
He's very confident that it's going to be a straightforward,
sixty minute battle Royale.
Speaker 3 (39:30):
He couldn't.
Speaker 4 (39:31):
He couldn't say one time was going to be strange.
He couldn't say strange one.
Speaker 3 (39:35):
Time, quirky ludic icris. I tried to count the wheeling.
I couldn't.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
I couldn't. That was a minute clip. And I couldn't
count the number of weirds in a minute. How many
were in that minute clip?
Speaker 3 (39:49):
That truly was amazing.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
I would have to say, off the top of my head,
if I put the over under a ten, I would
take the over.
Speaker 3 (39:55):
I think it was the over over.
Speaker 1 (39:57):
Let's hear it again, Let's do it again. Let's count
the weird as we hear them.
Speaker 5 (40:01):
Go ahead, weird. It was.
Speaker 9 (40:03):
It's just a very very weird game. And I dressed
the team. I dressed my d line about that, just
about how weird these games be. I remember the game
we played in Jacksonville and Sunny Day, I mean a
great day. I remember it vivily, but it was just
a weird, weird aura. And then playing in London, it
was just a weird I can't even explain. It was
just a weird game. I ain't never beat these guys,
(40:25):
so it's just weird.
Speaker 5 (40:27):
Man.
Speaker 9 (40:27):
It's just I'm just letting the guys know, like it's
a weird I don't know what it is. Man, it's
just a weird and I speak lifing to it. So
this game won't be weird, but the past two times
been weird. We then started to slow just very weird games.
I'll go back and watch it. I think the first
time we played what it's called like nine to six
something like that something, What was it?
Speaker 5 (40:44):
Nine to six?
Speaker 9 (40:44):
Come on, like we're playing the NFL game is nine
to six? Like I think I remember Joshon Allen catching
the pick on Jockshon Allen. I remember that, like like
it's just a weird game, like let him catch a pick,
but it's just a weird game.
Speaker 5 (40:57):
I remember that just you're just weird, man.
Speaker 1 (41:01):
I think you missed one T shirt I got sixteen. No,
I think you missed a double weird by him, didn't
you in double weird it double weird weird?
Speaker 2 (41:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (41:09):
That what you missed? A double No?
Speaker 7 (41:10):
No, if you say weird twines, that doesn't count.
Speaker 3 (41:12):
No, he said it fifteen times. What do you mean it.
Speaker 7 (41:15):
Doesn't count because they were space though he told.
Speaker 3 (41:17):
Me he loves the snow. He's told me like sixteen.
Speaker 7 (41:19):
No, no, no, that doesn't count.
Speaker 3 (41:21):
No, he said weird.
Speaker 7 (41:21):
And that's like going to the gym twice in the
same day. It doesn't Count's the thing?
Speaker 4 (41:25):
At some point unless you were live betting. Once we
got to ten and a half, the matter, we hit
the over and cleared that bar. Far better than that
dude at the Olympics.
Speaker 1 (41:36):
Okay, sure, but maybe you know we didn't look as
good doing it. Maybe we looked not quite as good.
I love pact. The double weirds count. I was keeping track.
I had sixteen. I had sixteen weirds in that minute,
all right, So I got fifteen with ty shirt.
Speaker 4 (41:50):
But I tell you there was one where I debated
giving him an extra and I and I opted not to.
Speaker 3 (41:55):
I debated on the extra weird. Well, well, I decided, had.
Speaker 4 (41:58):
He finished the word weird when he restarted? Like, was
it a stutter of the word weird?
Speaker 3 (42:02):
That's all.
Speaker 1 (42:03):
No, As long as you go, it's it's just like
in baseball, if you go more than halfway, it's the
word that's out. Well, right, we take a look at
two big NFL games on Sunday. What's going to be
a long day for two of the biggest teams in
the league.
Speaker 3 (42:16):
Fox
