(00:48):
this is this is Helen gone from last night, Mike,
I gotta tell you last night Jets, Matsu Suga, tonight,
Metza getting killed, Syracuse is losing at home to Stanford.
This boy, this is how the other half lives. Man,
I can only have good things for so long.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Well you ride the lightning, buddy, I mean, look, you
had a twenty four hour where you're on top of
the world. It was almost like you were told you've
got twenty four hours to do whatever you can because
they're taking the world away from you. And damn it,
they took the world away from you, including your Heisman
trophy from Kyle McCord.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Yeah, he is making some risky throws, although the Cord
just runs into the end zone for a touchdown, scrambles
in from twenty five yards out. That's how you answer
throwing a pick six nineteen yard touchdown run from a
Cord Syracuse has cut the Stanford leading out of twenty
to sixteen extra point pending here in the third quarter.
Headed to the fourth quarter, he momentarily.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
I like, you were about three seconds ahead of my feed,
and he dives into the end zone. Does one of
those I've made a couple of mistakes and a couple yeah,
you're mistakes. So I'm gonna put my body on the line,
read to a tongue of II looa, and I'm going
to dive towards the end zone.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Shoulder be damned that. Whatever happens, I just tweeted out
that was my fault this whole game, guys. I'm diving
into the end zone.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Yeah, that was I mean, a nice little scramble, evaded
the potential sack, and off he went to the races
towards the corner of the the end zone there. But yeah,
it's been uneven watching two games at once because we've
got Illinois Nebraska getting after it as well.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Some big plays.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Some the referees earn their money I think in both
of these games with some of the circumstances.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Oh yeah, sure, yeah, I mean it's become the hot now.
It's it's just gonna be about Okay, we're gonna blame
the referee and now look a couple of weird calls
in these games. Obviously was like, all right, what do
we got going out here? Is that a catcher is
at an intercept? Yeah? Is this really? Is this really
roughing the passer? I mean, come on, is it really roughing?
Come on? Is it really rough in the passer?

Speaker 3 (02:54):
We see a guy get face masks Clayton as the
nose on his face his head almost does a witting
there Blair exorcist thing, and there's no flag out of
the play.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
It's like he's not in the middle of a bunch
of people. What are we doing? You know? I'll tell you,
you know, and this gets into what really has been
great about the college football seasons far about some positivity
fund here. Okay, you need some. Let's go si SYRIRACU.
At least the Braves lost, so I have. At least
the Braves lost the lib Okay, but I mean, look
Nebraska right now, the big game on Fox, and Nebraska

(03:27):
is beating Illinois. It's a big top twenty five game.
Look at Illinois in the top twenty five U seventeen
to ten. They just started the second the second half.
Reyola already has a couple of touchdown passes. He's thrown
for one hundred and fifty yards. You know, Nebraska, I
hope they're on their way back from sports Stonehenge. You know,
like all those teams I tell you that, you know,

(03:47):
you see Stonehenge, you go south, Well, I to go
see it. We went to the UK a couple a
couple of months ago, and you know, I teams are
teams and schools are in sports Stonehenge. Where you go
see Stonehenge, nobody really knows why it's significant, what it is,
and you don't really know. You look at it and
you know, okay, it was built long ago, but nobody
really knows why. And you kind of have an idea

(04:07):
of what the stones are for, but nobody knows how
they were built and why. Really, so many people go
it's you know, that's Nebraska football. I know, people talk
about Nebraska with some reverence, and I hear people that
are you know, you know in the millennials and generation
extras talk about Nebraska football like it was really something. No,
because they've been in sports Stonehenge. They were once incredibly relevant,

(04:30):
but it's been so long nobody knows why anymore. But
now maybe they're on their way back. Right, This would
be a win that would put them four and zero,
probably would leap into the right right around fifteen, depending
on how the rest of this week goes in college football.
And you know, it's just a microcosm of why this
season has been so great so far, because for certain sports,

(04:52):
when heritage teams do well, it means an incredible amount
of interest. Right, NFL it doesn't really matter, right because
we follow the star everywhere. NBA, it doesn't matter, we
follow the stars everywhere. But for baseball and college football,
when the heritage teams play well, it's just different. It's
a different type of ingesting of the product, and there's
more interest in the playoff in the season. You know,

(05:15):
if a team like the Rays gets into the ALCS,
it's not nearly as interesting as a team like the
Orioles getting in the ALCS because of the heritage and
the fun and the remembrance that we have of years
past and great Orioles teams. Right if the Reds were
to ever get really good and get in the playoffs,
boy they would be fun. But that's what this college
football season is because you look at the teams that

(05:35):
are peppering the top fifteen, and it's Texas, Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama, Tennessee, Miami,
Penn State, USC, Oklahoma like ten of the top fifteen
or all big time heritage programs that have been good
at least on and off. You know, no one's great
forever for the last forty years, like USC is probably

(05:59):
the most lately Johnny come lately these because they've been
really good since the early two thousands, which okay, you're
talking about twenty five years. College football is always better
when these are the teams that are there. The upstart
teams that jump in just not as interesting. They just
don't have the mass appeal, the wide ranging interest that
the rest of these schools have. And I'll tell you
it's fun seeing Texas up there at number one, right,

(06:21):
I mean, everybody who grew up with Texas football and
being so good and you get into the Vince Young
aspect and then suddenly it's been wow, where has Texas been?
What's have Texas been? Up and down? These are the
teams where every week when the interest level in them
just generally is a higher rated thing. Like I know
that you know, Colorado Colorado States, that's a huge thing,

(06:42):
you know, because of Deon Sanders. And once Colorado starts losing,
you know, they lose their popularity. But at the interest
level in that is artificial. You know, these other teams
that are jumping in, like if a Oklahoma State or
you know, like I said, Utah, Missouri, Oregon, Ole, miss
like these are all really good, but they don't have
the drawing power of these heritage teams. Baseball and college

(07:05):
football more than any other sport. They succeed and are
more popular and have more relevancy when it's the heritage
teams that are playing extremely well and when the other
teams do it's just not quite the same.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Well, especially when you look at the way college football
has now changed. Right, college basketball, we've long had the
one and done. But for college football, it's say, you
might have a guy go to three different teams, four
different teams at this point, all right, he's gonna lose
his job. Are bounce plus COVID years plus injury years.
We got guys applying for you know, medical red shirts

(07:37):
for year eight and things of that. Whereas you go
back in the history of Texas football, you know, we're
going back to Darryl Royal, We're going back to Mac
Brown on that sideline. He's still coaching. I have a
picture with him from many many years ago. I was
so young and lean boy. But you know when he
used to come out for the East West Shrine game,

(07:58):
go and talk to the coaches, they were all great
saban when he was just leaving Michigan State to go
to LSU and LSU's just outside the top fifteen. You
got Notre Dame. They had their hiccup. But guess what
the way this system works and the way it all flows.
Now that you've got a twelve team playoff, suddenly they're
still fighting and relevant and we obviously know their history

(08:20):
along the way Nebraska. I mean, we talked about it
a couple of weeks ago, the kids in the stands
with the signs going, so this is the team my
dad told me about. You know, all of those kinds
of things, right.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
Tell me stories about Mike Rosier and how he would
run from one end of the field to the other
in eight seconds flat. But it's the continuity.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
Right back then, a guy committed to your school, barring
rare circumstances, they weren't leaving, so you got to know them.
And it's one of the things we've always loved about
college football and baseball to a degree because you always
had longer term, guaranteed contracts and you had arm systems.
So you read about these guys and your local broadcasters

(09:04):
would be pumping them up, going, oh, they're coming, They're coming.
And for a lot of teams that's not certainly not
the case. But now you know a lot of minor
league systems are nothing. But uh, you know, farm like
Salmon Farming's like.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Hey, we need some we need some of your prospects.
Let's go.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
So it's it's that kind of mentality and and why
we get nostalgic and and for Texas when you see
those massive crowds. You know, my cousin that was in
last week, her daughter just started instead of saying, Hey,
I'm at the football game. Check out me with my friends.
There's the band. No, she was stalking McConaughey on the side.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
There he is. I think that's Gun and Paul walking
next to him. You know that guy, right, all right,
all right guy. Oh I got to get a picture
with him. Okay, that's him.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
Okay, Yeah, So you know, find finding that the minister
of culture. That's what I want to be. I want
to be the minister. That's a great nickname. Man that
is a great nickname, Evanston, and be that guy in
my next life. But but but it's that thing. It's
that continuity, the pageantry of it all. And when we
get to do these montages of greats, and and let's

(10:09):
face it, every home game they're celebrating somebody. Somebody's walking
out to midfield, the class of this new Hall of famers.
Hey remember he's scoring three touchdowns against his team fifty
years ago.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
I firmly believe you could make a guy up and
everybody would clatform guy that just bring out some guy
and say, oh, and who can forget his performance in
the nineteen thirty eight Cotton Bowl where he ran for
four touchdowns and threw for anough and somebody's granddad that
can wave to everybody like, yeah, remember that game. My
dad tells me about the game that was going. You

(10:42):
might even be able to go back into the seventies
before people would realize, Hey, wait a minute, now, wait
a minute. I don't know about that guy. The only
guy I remember that football that's gonna get you his Hartman.
I don't know. I don't know Steve Hartman.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Going back into the box scores and trying to match
stuff up. He might screw you over.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
I've done that seventy or six Cotton Bowl, Texas dam
we were playing that cotton Ball. No left have a
guy that threw for three touchdowns. I did not hunt
did not Wait a minute, but I'll clap Hey, yeah, great,
great for a movie. He's a character they made up.
But I mean, it's it's just that kind of thing.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
It's like they trot out to midfield, they doffed their
little caps. Everybody gets excited. The band plays something, and
you're ready for the second half kickoff.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
Now that being said, right about how great this college
football season is, we're getting set for look the big
there's a couple of huge stories in college football that
just dwarf everything else this weekend, and arch Manning getting
his first start for Texas tomorrow was another one. Look
you look at how he did coming in relief last
week and all the touchdowns he put on the board.
He's faster than Tyreek Hill. All about that one. Arch

(11:46):
Manning has arrived because Quinn Ewers is hurt. And oh,
by the way, how about Quinn you weres? In the
same week he potentially ascended to be the Heisman favorite
while also losing his job. I don't know that that's possible,
but it seems like it might be for Quinn yours. Look,
I'll say this as much as I said all heritage programs.
What a great season we have. We have twelve playoff teams.
It's outstanding. We may wind up with a really boring

(12:08):
college football playoff because right now Texas is head and
shoulders above everybody. They are absolutely loaded. This is the
best Texas team that they've had since Vince Young was
running all around the Rose Bowl on USC. It doesn't
matter who plays quarterback. It doesn't matter if it's Quinn Viewers,
it doesn't matter if it's arch Manning. It doesn't matter
if it's Major Apple White. It makes no difference. They'll

(12:30):
be able to manage this this year because they're gonna
keep winning games, and arch Manning is like, Okay, I know,
I'm gonna wait my turn. Quinn Ewers will get the
job back. Eventually. They will be able to navigate. That's
not gonna be a problem. All this fake stuff going
on this week. Oh what happens when yours is healthy? Yeah,
arch Manning knows it is my first year. It's cool
if Quinn Eewers comes. We've seen this before. We've seen
guys split jobs at quarterback, Guys get hurt, guys come

(12:52):
in and play. I watch Washington win a national title
with Billy Joe Hobert instead of Mark Burnell, So you
know's you know what happens. Guy. Teams can do that.
This Texas team is so loaded. I don't know any
team right now that I could put up on the
field against them and say they're gonna give them a
really close game. Look, Georgia showed clearly they got some
stuff to work on last week. Maybe they're not as
dynamic as we thought they were. Ohio State the same way,

(13:15):
and Texas is just rolling through people. Yes, it's the
early part of the schedule. Going into Michigan with a
pretty good defense and winning by twenty, that's a big deal.
But we're gonna see over the course of the next
few weeks. It is gonna beat Texas and you watch,
They're gonna have They're gonna beat Oklahoma, They're gonna beat Georgia,
They're gonna beat these teams. They're gonna beat Texas, A
and M at the end of the year and it's
gonna be. Wow. Here is Texas number one with a

(13:37):
bullet and I would be stuck right now. I'm stunned
if they're not in the National Championship and the team
that wins it all, I'm surprised if that's not the case.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
By your fun part for your Heisman Trophy, watch cam
Ward plus four fifty arch Manning at sixteen to one,
followed by Will Howard and Miller Moss each at twenty
to one.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
So there's that.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
You know, Georgia is a squad that one it's all
said and done, I'm not worried. Give it time that
and we'll have the battle of attrition, I mean, the
fact that yours has to step down and the rise
of Manning begins. And you could hear folks already going,
there's another one, there's another one. I thought we were

(14:20):
done with this because it because it's cycled under right,
because it was the Quinn Yours story and and everything
was good, uh, and the only thing in the circling
in the background is so Arch gonna stay or he
gonna go, you know that kind of thing. So yeah,
it's just fun that up at the top that we
have some of these perennial heavyweights, uh, that are ready

(14:41):
to battle it out. I mean Ohio State, they're gonna
put up points. But you're rolling through a schedule that
has some heavy weights on it as well. So I
think that's that's gonna be fun to watch. They still
got uh, They've got a three game stretch that has
at Oregon home against Nebraska and then at penns State,
So it's certainly gonna be battle tested. We'll find a

(15:03):
lot out a lot about them in the middle to
back end of October.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
Not to mention they've got Iowa at home.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
Iowa doesn't score, but they're they're pain in the ass,
and they'll muddy it up just enough to normalize you
at least for a week. But you know all that said,
give me the twelve teams. Folks are already lamenting it, Jason.
You know that from day one. Watch it's gonna be
a bus This is gonna be terrible. They're gonna have
two lots. It's like, there's more meaningful football in November.

(15:31):
Just you know, grab it, hug it, and be done
with those like you know my scroll today, everybody trying
to discount everything Otani's.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Done this year.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
Yeah, we'll find someone to hug you. Okay, find a hug,
take a nice warm bath, order a sandwich.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
I don't know. Same thing with college football. The fact
that there.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
May be two lost, three loss teams fighting their way
for the back end of the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
Good.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
We got a bunch of extra weeks of football that matter,
even if one game.

Speaker 1 (16:01):

we need the burnt orange on.

Speaker 1 (16:35):
Top of it. Let's go. I need some kind of
other orange because I just watch Kyle McCord telegraph a
pass that Stanford picks off first play of the fourth
quarter for Syracuse. Another pick for Kyle McCord, and Stanford
now has the football at midfield with a three point lead.
This is again, it's a far cry from last night
for me, Mike.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
I'll tell you what gives a man a go route
he's got he can outrun about to the edge there, right,
I mean, instead throws throws just to the sticks looking
for him to sit down and turn back, and instead
an easy interception.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
Oh man, I don't know if these are heat check
throws for Kyle McCord or what. Man, But dude, you
got can't can't win games like this man can't do it.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
All the good will is gone right Hey he's in Syracuse.
Sit now he's a stun again. And you were all

Fox Nebraska using their final time out. They are tied
with Illinois twenty four to twenty four, forty five seconds

(21:03):
left to go in the fourth quarter. Nebraska has pretty
much led this one throughout, but Illinois gets a big
guy touchdown to tie the game of twenty four and
now they have the football and they are driving. Just
when I say, here comes Nebraska coming out of sports Stonehengine.
They're gonna matter again. No no, no, no, no no no,
I'm not gonna happen. Here comes Illinois and Brett Pelema, Yeah,

(21:26):
we're gonna come and ruin everything for Nebraska. They have
the ball at midfield, forty five seconds left to go.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
Yeah, this drive coming after a missed field goal from
Nebraska to try to take the lead, drifts wide left
and one of those things. And I just tweeted about this, Jason.
I'm not a huge fan of taunting calls in general,
but it's on the books, and we see it called
a bunch after the kicker missed his head's down and
he's walking. Dude from Illinois walked about fifteen yards with

(21:54):
him and kept jawing at him. That doesn't constitute a flag,
and today I've seen guys flag for far less than that.
But you know, he misses the field goal and now
we have the ensuing drive Bilaman company trying to make
a play.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
Hey, what happened on that? Well, he walked over and
initially I was hurt by his words, and then I
stuff it an injury. Okay, are you all right?

Speaker 7 (22:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (22:20):
Yeah, yeah, okay, you know what, no penalty for taunting.
We're okay, just drawing at him, point Adam.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
The whole thing, I'm like, referee doesn't step in at
any point.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
Like, all right, aren't you gonna say anything? They they
hate kickers too, Now, aren't you gonna say anything? Dude,
you missed the field goal? Not me. He could say
whatever hell he wants. That's it if you put it
through the uprights. He ain't saying anything. He is. Uh So,
Illinois on fourth down has decided to punt, so Nebraska
will take over inside their ten yard line. Twenty six

(22:52):
seconds left, Nebraska out of time outs. I am sure
they will kneel on the football and go to overtime.
But it is Matt Ruhle. You never know. Well, you
have mini mahomes, let's go. Yeah, you got many mahomes
playing better than regular mahomes, and it kicker with plenty
of confidence right now. So time now for Mike and
I to give you our upset special Picks of the week.

(23:15):
We do it every week in the NFL. I'm not
gonna say no, no no music yet, tight shirt where
I am no music yet, no music again, because here's
the thing, all right.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
Now, through the first three weeks of the season, right
there might be some of that coming.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
First three weeks of the season. I am seven and
two overall, Right, seven and two in upset specials. Right,
I'm feeling pretty good. Ask me what my record is
if you don't count the bleeping games. I picked the Rams. Ye,
ask who my record is there? Hey, Jason, what would
your record be? Seven? And oh baby, I would be
undefeated if I didn't pick that. My only two losses. First,

(23:49):
I'm taking the Rams. Nope, nope, they blow it over time.
I'm taking the Rams. No, they don't show up against
the Arizona Cardinals. I mean the Rams might be on
my never again was pretty s I mean, I tried
to tell me about this week. You wouldn't hear it.
But by it was one point. Come on, it's one
point against the Cardinals, now, come on, dude.

Speaker 3 (24:04):
And then well, and then one by one they started
falling apart like they were in a horror movie.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
I mean, I mean it was awful. One by one.
We I mean, I mean, really, I think I just
left his left laying back there. I'm undefeated except when
I picked the Rams.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
You know, I don't do that anymore. Although this week
they're actually an interesting bet. Yeah, yeah, six and a
half seventy the money on the forty nine ers in
this But dude, I I can't do that again.

Speaker 1 (24:34):
You can't. There's no way I cannot do that again.
I cannot pick the Rams again. They have screwed me
both weeks.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
You know that game might be just this side of
I mean, at least both quarterbacks are upright, But that
might be just this side of the Steelers Chargers game
we were talking about earlier.

Speaker 1 (24:51):
Of Man, this could be ugly. Yeah, yeah, it could be.
They could be proved. I mean they over und are
still a bit higher. Of course.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
Three and a half only in that one though, but
it's still a full ten points higher because you know,
we're comparing the worst and worst.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Yeah. So that being said, Okay, now Ticher, now the
music can come in. Now we go.

Speaker 6 (25:11):
I don't feel like doing the music now.

Speaker 1 (25:12):
Oh come on, man, come on music man. Well that one,
it's been a long long time. There you go, first one,
and I feel great about this one. You're gonna say,
wait a minute, you said he wasn't any good. I
know Sam Donald is no good. I get this, but

(25:34):
I will take the Vikings getting too over the Texans,
not because of Sam Donald. I told you Sam has
played fine, but I've seen this script before. Once the
NFL gets about four games on him, things are different.
Everybody thought he was a world beater with the Carolina Panthers,
and what happened. He lost his job midway through the season.
But things are still going well for Minnesota. And the

(25:56):
bottom line is there's some defenses around the league. We
don't spend enough. I'm talking about the Jets defense. Yes,
they're terrific. We don't spend enough time on defenses like
the Bears, and we certainly don't spend enough talking about
the Minnesota Vikings because that defense, if you had any
questions about it, they showed you last week against a
really good offense. They are legit. It is a top

(26:17):
five unit. They are incredibly impressive. I watch what Chicago
defense did to see j Stroud. They slowed them down
enough where if they were able to get any pulse
of an offense at all, they would have won that
game over the Texans. And the Texans have weapons coming
out of their ears. Two of their guys that won't
even catch any passes are better than half the guys
in the league. So I watched that last week and

(26:37):
I saw with how good the Bears defense is. The
Vikings defense is better. It's gonna be an ugly game
for the Texans. On Sunday. Minnesota wins on the field
to go to three to zero. I won't need the
two points, and really it's two points, but I'll still
take them because you know, you never know. But the
Vikings win this game on the field. They beat the Texans.

Speaker 3 (26:56):
Flores in company getting after it again. Does Sam Darnold
do this speed each mike him up. Let's see does
he emulate it? Go word for word and do the
pullback if Stroud tries to walk away. I'm gonna take
the Packers on the road getting two and a half
against the Titans down.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
Now, wait a minute, now, this is regardless as to
who plays. I don't care who quarterback willis. Even if
Malik Willis Wow, Okay, okay, Willis? What if it's Craignall
playing quarterback? Can he hand the ball off and the
defense still play? Okay? So regardless of quarterback, you're taking
the Packers, all right.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
I'm not banking on Will Levis to give the ball
away again. I think he's been shamed enough, including having
to change his phone number. We talked about that earlier
in the week as one of the odd stories in sports.
But Packers good balance, banked up a little bit at tailback,
but looking for Jacobs to have himself a day wide
receivers spread it out.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
Doesn't have to be world beating.

Speaker 3 (27:51):
I don't need three hundred and fifty yards out of
the combination of love slash willis. No, we just need
to be efficient, kick some field goals and let the
defense go to So give me the Packers on the road.

Speaker 1 (28:03):
Give me the Eagles getting three over the Saints. Yeah,
let's go. The Saints have played really well the first
two weeks. You would think they were the Broncos the
first year with Peyton Manning the way everybody's talking about them. Oh,
look at all they rolled up against the Cowboys. Remember
the Cowboys might stink. Just understand that they beat the
worst team in the NFL the first week. And the

(28:25):
Cowboys might just think, yes, I get it. But New
Orleans suddenly isn't turning into world beaters because they figured
out pre snap motion right. But that's Oh look at
what they're doing. This is an Eagles team that is
gonna come back off this disaster of a loss. On
Monday Night, the drop by Saquon Barkley, the ridiculously bad
decision by Nick Sirianni to go for it on fourth

(28:47):
down early, the lack of any sort of aggressiveness at
the end of the game to allow Kirk Cousins to
drive down the field. This has been one of those
games that you can tell is sticking in the Eagles
crawl all week long. This is a big bounce back
and focus game for them. They should be two and zero.
They're the better team, right. I expect the offense to
play well, and I expect them to get a lot
of pressure on Derek Carr, and that's that turns him

(29:09):
into a different quarterback. I'm not gonna need the points,
but I'll take them because the Eagles are gonna win
on the field.

Speaker 3 (29:16):
I dig that. I mean the Bears are an obvious
pick plus one and a half at Indianapolis, so I
don't need to belabor the point. They torment Anthony Richardson,
create a couple of chaotic plays in a way you go,
So we'll dig a little bit deeper.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
Give me the just here's how I see that, kid, Just,
here's how I say that, kid, I see the Bears
winning that game. Sixteen to nothing midway through the fourth quarter,
and Anthony Richardson is like two for fifteen for eight yards,
and then suddenly at the end of regulation, Anthony richards
thrown for two touchdowns, run for two two point conversions,

(29:49):
and we're sixteen to sixteen going overtime. Oh I like that.
That's how that guy is gonna unfold potential for chaos.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
Look as long as it's a good watch, and in
the end, you know, my pick at the Bears comes
through pick them a lot, So it's you know, it's
going out on the you know, and putting that nationally,
but putting fandom, heart and head all in the same place.
This is problematic, which is why this pick might be
even more problematic. I'm gonna take the Giants getting six
and a half against the Browns. A lot being written

(30:16):
and talked about in terms of six being the number
in the line of demarcation, in terms of teams and
covering in et cetera. Quarterback play for the Browns still
scares me. The Giants defense can get after it and
Daniel Jones and company make enough plays. Jalen Hyatt getting
a lot of ink for a guy who's done nothing
through two weeks lo and behold, he's factors into the

(30:39):
box score and they get the cover and maybe the
win out right on the road.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
Now, what you said six six and a half is
what I Okay, are you taking over under for that game.

Speaker 3 (30:54):
That is currently at thirty nine and a half? That's
way too this is the worst.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
Come on.

Speaker 3 (30:59):
So week three of the NFL, we have thirty nine
and a half for Carolina Las Vegas. We have thirty
nine and a half for Giants Cleveland, thirty seven and
a half for thirty shut up in a row Green Bay, Tennessee,
thirty five and a half downward pressure now pushed through

(31:20):
to thirty four and a half for the Chargers at Pittsburgh.
We've got forty and a half for Denver Tampa Bay. Yeah,
it's if you were looking for points this week, Nope,
more field goal contests.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
Let's go all right. I really think that thirty nine
and a half is way too high. If you put
it in a little bit, if you put it a twenty
nine and a half, I would say I think that
that might be a little too high. It might be
a little too high.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Twenty.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
So there's our upset breaking records. So the week. I
like getting the game once in a while in the
twenties for over under time now to find out what's
trending in the wide world of sports, from special delivery
Steve to Saga Steve, what do you got for tonight?

Speaker 7 (32:03):
My friend shoe Hey O Toddy is just homered in
LA to give the Dodgers the lead. It's three to
two over Colorado games in the top of the sixth.
This was home run number fifty two for him. The
Dodgers first place in the NL West, four games over
the Padres. They'll be facing the Padres in a series
next week. The regular season at MLB ends a week
from Sunday. The Padres in action right now and leading

(32:25):
two nothing over the White Sox in the bottom of
the seventh. Joe Musgrove was six innings of work and
nine strikeouts. Great outing for the Yankees Garrett Cole tonight,
but the Yanks are tied one to one at Oakland.
In the top of the ninth, Cole with eight innings
of work, eighty five pitches thrown. Everything else is a final.
Kansas City lost. Cleveland won. In fact, in that Guardians

(32:47):
win five to one at Saint Louis Jose Ramirez with
his thirty sixth homer and his fortieth stolen base of
the season. Houston and Seattle with victories. Arizona Gotta win.
Miami beat Atlanta for to three, the bravest two games
out of the last NL wildcard spot behind the Mets,
who were beaten up at home by Philadelphia twelve to two.
Alec Bohm four hits, including a three run homer. The

(33:09):
Phillies clinched a playoff berth tonight. Minnesota in twelve innings
won at Boston four to two. A combined thirty two
men left on base in that game, but the Twins
are now one game over Detroit for the final AL
playoff spot, and Mariners still two games behind Minnesota for
that last wildcard. Detroit loss seven to one at Baltimore's.

(33:30):
The Orioles hit five home runs. To college football, It's
just Gone Final on Fox TV and overtime win for
Illinois at Nebraska thirty one to twenty four. Each team
was three to zero and ranked coming into this Big
Ten opener. The late game at Washington State has the
Cougars ahead late first half twenty one to ten over

(33:50):
San Jose State. Stanford won its opener in the ACC,
kicking a field goal of thirty nine yards on the
final play to win at Syracuse twenty six, twenty four.

Speaker 1 (34:01):
EMMITTT.

Speaker 7 (34:01):
Kenny went four for four on field goals, including hitting
a fifty one yarder in this close game. Stanford in
the Pac twelve lost twenty one of its last twenty
four games, but got the win on the road tonight.
A reminder Saturday afternoon on Fox TV number twelve, Utah,
number fourteen Oklahoma State four pm Eastern Time. The seventy
six ers gave Joel Embiid a three year MAX extension.

(34:24):
Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon is doubtful for Sunday
with an ankle injury, forty nine Ers tight end George
Kittle is doubtful with a hamstring injury, and Jacksonville tight
end Evan Ingram missed practice again with a bad hamstring.

Speaker 1 (34:36):
Back to you, Thank you, STEVEO Wow. I got to
tell you how this Illinois Nebraska game just end insane.
In overtime, Illinois scored to go up thirty one to
twenty four. Nebraska has the football and through a really
bad confluence of circumstances, they were faced with a third
and forty two. Now that's a tough convert even for
Matt Oh. Yeah's third and forty two is tough. They

(34:58):
throw a pass for about seven eight yards and the
receiver gets helmet to helmet contact twice, once getting knocked
out of bounds and another when he's already out of bounds,
right in front of the referee. The referee is five
feet away watching what happened. Defensive player takes a step
and helmet to helmet's the receiver and no flag is called.

(35:20):
I mean, I know it's third and forty two, but wow,
that was a huge thing that Illinois got away with.
I don't know how you don't call that in front
of the ref Nebraska gets sacked on fourth down, and
now Minnie Mahomes loses his first game of the season.
Illinois beats Nebraska.

Speaker 3 (35:36):
His Heisman campaign is over too. Dude gets head butted
out of bounds. Yeah, and then gets head butted again.
And then the first defender turns the official and starts
waving his finger at him like you better not call that.
I'm like, all right now, you're taunting the official, Like
what are we doing here? Like how does the flag
not come out and all you're worried about is spotting
where he went out of bounds.

Speaker 1 (35:56):
It's insane. Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon from the
tire rack dot Com Studios. Coming up next, we'll take
a look at a very special preview for one game
in the NFL because there is a magic word that
is being associated with this game. Imagine nuts hobo. Well,
we all stream like it's pee Wee's playoffs. It is

(36:19):
a must here and it's coming up next. Jason and Mike,
this is Fox Sports Radio. There's no horses. There's no horses. Wow,
horses every No, I meant like there are no horses.

Speaker 6 (36:38):
Listen, not like boy.

Speaker 1 (36:41):
And yeah, I am much like a streaming service. Hey,
tight shirt, Let's go a little slow on the horses here.

Speaker 6 (36:48):
Gary, we're like Aaron Rodgers baby, And he said on
Joe Rogan, we're taking the perks here.

Speaker 2 (36:53):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (37:05):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon Live from the Tyrack dot com Studios
and now we've got a lot of big previews tonight
taking a look at some of the big games in
college football. The NFL gonna continue that on, but because
it is fun on a Friday night, we want to
bring you this from an NFL star about the upcoming

(37:28):
game that he's playing in on Sunday. And this is
one of those things you're gonna hear and understand. There
is a word of the day that goes with this
sound you're gonna hear. This is Ed Oliver of the
Buffalo Bills, who is talking about the game coming up
against the Jacksonville Jaguars. All right, now, you know, you

(37:50):
know you get stuff every week. You never know what
you're gonna get from players, is they want to break
stuff down. Never know what they're gonna talk about. You
have no idea, But Monday night, Jaguars and the Bills,
the whole world is going to be watching, and what
kind of game are we going to see? Well, at
Oliver kind of has an idea, and you're gonna understand
exactly what the word of today is here on Fox

(38:12):
Sports Radio. Take a listen. Weird.

Speaker 8 (38:14):
It's just a very very weird game. And I dressed
a team where I dressed my d line about that,
just about how weird these games could be. I remember
the game we played in Jacksonville and Sunny Day, I
mean a great day. I remember Viverly, but it was
just a weird, a weird aura. And then playing in London,
it was just a weird I can't even explain. It

(38:34):
was just a weird game. And I ain't never beat
these guys, so it's just weird. Man, It's just I'm
just letting the guys know, like it's a weird.

Speaker 1 (38:40):
I don't know what it is.

Speaker 8 (38:41):
Man, it's just a weird and I speak life in
to it. So this game won't be weird, but the
past two times been weird. We then started slow, just
very weird games. I'll go back and watch it. I
think the first time we played what it's called like
nine to six something like that something, what was it,
nine to six? Come on, like we're playing the NFL
games nine to six, Like I think I remember Jockshon
Allen catching a pick on Jackson Allen. I remember that, like,

(39:04):
like it's just a weird game, like Dlan can catch
a pick, but it's.

Speaker 1 (39:07):
Just a weird game.

Speaker 8 (39:08):
I remember that Vivili just it's just weird, man.

Speaker 1 (39:11):
So so what are you drunk? What do you what
do you think? Get Oliver, it's about this game against
the jack Water.

Speaker 3 (39:19):
He's very confident that it's going to be a straightforward,
sixty minute battle Royale.

Speaker 1 (39:24):
He couldn't. He couldn't say one time was going to
be strange. He couldn't say strange one time, quirky ludic icris.
I tried to count the wheeling. I couldn't. I couldn't.
That was a minute clip, and I couldn't count the
number of weirds in a minute. How many were in
that minute clip? That truly was amazing. I would have

(39:44):
to say at the top of my head, if I
put the over under a ten, I would take the over.
I think it was the over over. Let's hear it again,
Let's do it again, Let's count the weirds as we
hear them go ahead.

Speaker 8 (39:56):
Weird, it was. It's just a very very weird game.
And I just to team who. I addressed my d
Lina about that, just about how weird these games be.
I remember the game we played in Jacksonville and sunny day,
I mean a great day, I remember, Vivily, but it
was just a weird, weird Aura and then playing in London,
it was just a weird I can't even explain. It

(40:16):
was just a weird game. And I ain't never beat
these guys, so it's just weird, man. It's just I'm
just letting the guys know, like it's a weird I
don't know what it is. Man, it's just a weird
and I speak liking to it. So this game won't
be weird. But in the past two times been weird.
Wen started slow, just very weird games. I'll go back
and watch it. I think the first time we played
what it's called like nine to six something like that something,

(40:36):
what was it, nine to six? Come on, like we're
playing the NFL game's nine to six, Like I think
I remember Jackson Allen catching a pick on Jackson Allen.
I remember that, like like it's just a weird game,
like Leven catch a pick. But it's just a weird game.
I remember that. Just it's just weird, man.

Speaker 1 (40:55):
One tight shirt, I got sixteen. No, I think you
missed a dudn't you double weird it double weird weird? Yeah,
what you missed a double? No?

Speaker 6 (41:04):
No, if you say weird twice. That doesn't count.

Speaker 1 (41:05):
No, he said it fifteen times. What do you mean it.

Speaker 6 (41:08):
Doesn't count because they were space though he told me.

Speaker 1 (41:10):
He loves the snow. He's telling me like sixteen.

Speaker 6 (41:13):
No, no, no, that doesn't count.

Speaker 1 (41:14):
No, he said weird.

Speaker 6 (41:15):
And that's like going to the gym twice in the
same day. It doesn't coure.

Speaker 1 (41:17):
That's the thing.

Speaker 3 (41:18):
At some point, unless you were live betting. Once we
got to ten and a half, the matter, we hit
the over and cleared that bar, far better than that
dude at the Olympics.

Speaker 1 (41:29):
Okay, sure, but maybe you know, we didn't look as
good doing it. Maybe we looked not quite as good
the double weirds count. I was keeping track. I had sixteen.
I had sixteen weirds in that minute, all right, So
I got fifteen with ty shirt.

Speaker 3 (41:43):
But there was one where I debated giving him an
extra and I and I opted not to.

Speaker 1 (41:48):
I debated on the extra weird.

Speaker 3 (41:50):
Well, well, I decided, had he finished the word weird
when he restarted, Like, was it a stutter of the
word weird?

Speaker 1 (41:55):
That's all. No, as long as you go, it's it's
just like in baseball, if you go more than halfway
it's the word word that's out well right. We take
a look at two big NFL games on Sunday. What's
going to be a long day for two of the
biggest teams in the league. Fox H
