the way tire buying should be. Now before we get
(00:49):
to show, heyo, Toddy, Okay, we got we one more
bit on this. This seat stealing say not sign stealing.
Seat stealing going on in Oakland right now. Bob Nightingale
USA Today Baseball Insider put out a tweet a few
minutes ago saying he's watching six security guards chase a
(01:12):
guy out of the coliseum who's trying to steal a
seat and the last couple of nights people are stealing seats.
The last game in the coliseum is tomorrow, and uh
so you know, people trying to just take a bunch
of stuff with them when they leave. And I made
the joke a few minutes ago, going, I can't believe
that they're theft to steal. I thought they just put
out folding chairs. But I think about this, they may
(01:33):
actually need them because tomorrow, right is the last game.
I don't know what attendance is going to be like,
but I assume that they have a lot of tickets
sold the final game ever in openly. So I mean
you may have to here's my seat. My seat's not here.
What do you mean my seat's not here? My seat's
not here. Oh no, we got do worry. We have
we bring out here's to folding chairs for you guys
(01:53):
to sit in. So they may actually have to do that.
They may have to like run down all came out.
They don't have any more kmarts anymore to run down.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Like Costco and just get a bunch of seat.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Hey, just bring it. We gotta we got we gotta
put these seats down there for the ones that were stolen.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
So people have a place to sit.
Speaker 4 (02:08):
I see the there's an event planning company that I
see their trucks on the highways driving the work in
the studio every now and again. Well, I wonder if
they can help out, uh and get some chairs, maybe
a couple of tables out there for a nice picnic
leading into that final game. Uh but yeah, just insanity.
I mean tomorrow I sent you the thing they're giving
(02:29):
away replica stadiums tomorrow. Many every hundredth person gets a
crowbar to take their seat with them.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
If you want, here's your wrench. If you can dodge
a wrench, you can dodge a ball.
Speaker 5 (02:41):
Here's you.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Take We will we want people to be able to
take these seats away safely. Don't rip them out. We'll
give you your special oakland A's wrench that you can
get done. Undo all the same. Trust me, we've watching it.
Undo all the bolts right here. Just please to one
seat per person. Okay, one seaper person on your way
out there. Thank you very much, We appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
Well, you do it an extra raffle, right, you got
the fifty to fifty. Uh, here you do an extra one.
All the proceeds go to charity and a couple of winners,
say ten, get to crowbar their chair out.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
I mean, really get out with that.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Stadium is going to look like it's abandoned in a week.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
Yeah, it's remember the movie that we workshopped on air
about that. Oh yeah, yeah, the old stadium in Detroit. Yeah,
here we go, man, really fast. And I mean with
all the stories that are already out there about the
Bay Area, I mean, it just becomes another you know,
(03:40):
point to laugh at from the newscasts.
Speaker 5 (03:44):
Really good, there's no eight Cops, Chase and.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
The Boy. How long ago did this team play here?
Just a week ago? Just a week? Really, yes, it's
it's just a week.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
It's just a week.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
I'm gonna keep an eye out on all the different sales,
uh spots, because these chairs are gonna start showing up
in the marketplace.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
You think the possums are saying to each other, Listen,
we just have to make another couple of days. That's it.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Just another couple of days, and this place is ours.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
And then then you see what it's gonna look like
when it's possums everywhere.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
Well, I mean, we did have a whole film series
out of the Planet of the Apes, uh.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Centered in the Bay Area. Now it's the rise of
the possum.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
You don't want to go in there.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
There's a lot of possums in there.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Really, you aw some.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
My ass? Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
You roll the dice and you take your chances. And
what is actually sitting in the like they took one
out and he's sitting in there on the throne. He's
got the crown on his head.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
It's like the right at home plate.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Like a special oakland A's crown that they took from
one of the one of the souvenir stores.
Speaker 5 (05:01):
It says house on it.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
He's wearing it on its.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Yeah, it's just one of those hasts.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
Hey, wait a minute, dude, isn't isn't that the owner
tied up in the corner.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
Don't touch him, don't touch him.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
He looks like he's frozen and carbonite like gon solo one.
Don't touch him. That's my favorite decoration. You leave the
owner there, You leave him there. Wow, we're gonna we're
gonna leave the Colissey into the possums.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Everybody, congratulate, everybody.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Just back out, slink away, let them about their business.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Here they go.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
They've got just another couple of dude, it's gonna wait,
another cup, one more, even a stomper, that's it. One
more game and that's it.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
The elephant mask. What happens to Stomper? He lives in
the middle. He lives on the grass, Okay or.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Yeah, that's true either one. Yeah, we could be the
backup elephant. Sure, yeah, that sure, but he's on there.
He's on the grass. I mean, in a week, it's
gonna look like it's been abandoned for a day.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
Wait a minute, though, If he's the backup at Alabama,
is that Mickey Mouse where you have to make sure
that he can't be seen in the same spot.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
No, no, no, you can have multiple I think Alabama one.
Hey we're rich, we.
Speaker 5 (06:07):
Have two elephants on smoking cigarette.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
Yeah, we're alebet he just uses his trump to grab
the cigarette out of someone's head and just starts smoking. Hey,
how you guys doing all right? I don't have any
diary appearances today. It's the other elephant. I'm good. I
can just hang out now. So from that story, I mean,
it's really there's no segue. There's no segue now, stealing
nothing clean and the coliseum becoming given to the possums. Uh.
(06:35):
This story about show Hao Toni's home run ball number
fifty just a few days ago, where we were wondering
what was that ball going to bring. Clearly, if shoe
Heo Tani hit his fiftieth home run before his fiftieth
stolen base, maybe the ball wouldn't be worth as much
because it would be about a stolen base. But oh no, no,
after getting to fifty, show Heo Toni had this now
(06:56):
magical home run and.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
A Titchcot like to show hey, hey, swings hits are
trying to laught this bow's back.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Therelas fifty her first player in the.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
History of Major League Baseball to have a fifty fifty season.
He is incredible.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Show hey old Chiney with an opposite field home run
fifty fifty. So there was an am five seventy, There
was the call and the ball has been turned in
and Darren Ravel Sports Business inside a front of the show.
Darren Revel announced yesterday that the ball was going to
(07:38):
be put up for option for auction this weekend. Likely
the starting bid is going to be about five hundred
thousand dollars, according to reports. The guy that caught the ball,
Chris Bolanski turned down three hundred grand from the Dodgers
and so went to an auction house at starting at
five hundred thousand dollars. However, maybe not be calla an
(08:01):
attorney for an eighteen year old kid. Max Madus file
the lawsuit against the guy who emerged with the ball, Bolanski,
saying the ball was in fact Madus' first I assume
made Us or Madus, I don't know how his name
is pronounces. The story is brand new in the last
fifteen minutes. He is seeking an injunction to stop the
(08:22):
sale of the ball because he says the ball was
taken from him as a result of civil battery, and
he wants to court to stipulate that he is the
rightful owner of the ball. According to the story, the
ball landed in the stands and it got missed by
one of Max's father's coworkers. He went after the ball,
(08:44):
said he was able to firmly grab it in his
left hand, successfully obtaining possession of it. But according to
the lawsuit, Bolanski wrapped his legs around Max's arm and
used his hands to wrangle the ball out of him,
stealing the ball for himself. Blansky then, when had the
ball authenticated left the ballpark with the ball as support.
(09:04):
The suit does offer still photos of a video that
shows the interaction between the two of them, but right now,
the images that were shown don't have the clarity to
show that mate has had his hand on the ball.
Darren Ravel has this story and this is again this
story is it's fifteen or twenty minutes old. So now
there could be an injunction to stop the sell of
the ball because the kid said, I had it and
(09:26):
now this guy came.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
And took it from me.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Now, look, obviously video is going to be a thing
because you know, what's the old line possession is nine
tenths of the law. Like you're gonna need to see
something really illegal, like from a legal standpoint for this
kid to say, yes, the ball is mine. Like if
he's got it in his hand and the guy grabs
(09:48):
it out and he just grabs it out, like how
much can you say, Oh, he's a rightful owner, right,
But if this is what happened and you're talking about
someone who grabbed him and put his legs around him,
and like if you can can prove and show that
this was something that was done against his rights, then
that kid's gonna get the ball. But it's all gonna
come down to the video of this, because you can't
(10:09):
just do what he said. He said, I mean, I
feel you know, I feel bad for the kid if
that's what happened to him, obviously, you know, but the
video's got to be the key because you can't rely
on eyewitnesses. There's a scrum for the ball and who
knows what it is. But you know, you need that
video to show that, oh, something was done to me
that you could you could, you could classify it as
a crime because even though walking up and taking something
(10:31):
out of somebody's hand, how much of it and you know,
is that technically a crime? Yeah, but you know people
can I can walk up to you and take a
soda out of your hand, and and are you gonna
bring me to court? Is this?
Speaker 3 (10:41):
Is this the whole thing?
Speaker 1 (10:42):
Honestly, you're right. You might Mike carbon show, you know,
I might. Now I don't know, I don't know if
that's going to be enough, but certainly, if there is
that much done where you could say, oh man, this,
if someone walks up to a guy in the street
and does that, that's absolutely something where you call a
police officer for then it might be a different thing.
So it's all gonna be on the video.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
I just sent you the one angle of the video
that I've seen, and I find it awful hard to
believe that the kid's going to be able to win
this one. But I'm not a lawyer. I only play
one on the radio.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Uh. There was a scrum.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
There was actually a chair that was loose, not quite
a folding chair. Uh. But you also see how many
empty seats they're worth this thing, which is crazy.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (11:25):
But you have the the fly ball comes in, there's
a battle for it. As it gets to the ground.
The kid kind of goes after it with one arm.
You got the other guy crawling around on the ground,
but there's no clear possession by the kid in the
Marlins man.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Yeah, because it's it's the kid. It's it's easy to
see because it's.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
The kid in in the in the red and he's
got a blue hat on and it looks like potentially
he might have it, but I don't know. I don't
know that it was legs around and grabbing it. It
looks like the guy has it in his possession and
the kids trying to grab it.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
From him. Well, that's what it looks.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
Down he won't let go of his phone in his
right hand, so he goes down and look, now i'm
critiquing the kids, Tessie, So you're knowing the old put
your phone down.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
You might learn something.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
Well, but yes, like you went after it with one
arm holding your other arm out so your phone doesn't
get damaged, your hit or whatever. And the other guy's
clearly committed to the bit climbing down on the ground
and crawling.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
Is there contact?
Speaker 4 (12:31):
Yeah, but is there anything that shows clearly the kid had.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
Possession of it? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (12:36):
No, even if he did, don't we see this all
the time? I mean until someone walks away with the ball.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
Yeah, I mean the the kid doesn't have it for
a long perill, like he's using his hands to try
to grab it from I don't know that the kid
ever had it. Again, this is just this one video
that's out there, Like it doesn't look like he ever
had it, Like he definitely does not have the ball,
Like three seconds before there's indisputable proof that the guy
(13:03):
has the ball in his hands, correct, Like he doesn't
have a bang bang play man.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
Yeah, it's like three.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
Seconds before this guy you can see he's got the
ball that you could show that. Hey, uh, you know
the kid doesn't have it, so that's out that. It's
gonna be real tough man. It's gonna be real tough
to put.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Here's a hundred bucks for your trouble. Beat it theah.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
Here you go.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
See if you would put your phone down, you could
if you'd put.
Speaker 4 (13:24):
The phone in the back pocket and actually gone after
the ball wholeheartedly, you probably was still lost to this guy. Uh,
but you would have had a second hand in the
fight going down for it.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
I mean, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
Just to me, I don't see how the the kid's
gonna be able to say he had clear possession of
the baseball. It's it's two guys in a scrum at
the bottom on the ground, and as you said, it's
less than three seconds and the other dude jumps up
(13:58):
and declare victory.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
I love being able to be a lawyer here.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
I love this is so awesome. I love be a lawyer.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
To school.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
It would be an interesting angle for the show going forward.
What are they doing They're arguing about the legal ramifications
of these nil decisions and dopiness are.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
Then no, not not at all. Really, did they go
to law school? No.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
Harmon has logged forty two thousand hours of law and
order and it's different.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
Incredation guy.
Speaker 5 (14:26):
Speaking of Atani, he just stole his fifty six the season.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
Oof. Dodgers lead the Padres now four to three in
the six they have two on two out, trying to
take control of the NLS or maybe the last time
they need to this year. Uh So, again, not a
lot of scrum for that ball, but for that one. Yeah.
So we'll have more on this game coming up again,
Big Night, Major League Baseball. More in the postponement of
the Big Mets Brave Series, but coming up next. It
(14:54):
is the end of the road for Caitlin Clark this
season in the w NBA. Wait, do we tell you
the player she's gonna be most identified with after this
playoffs have now ended? That's coming up next right here,
Jason and Mike, this is Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
Friend Mike Harmon and while we're still waiting for reports
of seats being stolen from the Oakland Coliseum. I mean,
you never know, there could be more.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
It's gonna be a bunch of them.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
There's no question about how many guys run onto the
field tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
Ooh everybody and everybody? Yeah people, yeah, all five no, no,
tomorrow it's the last game in Oakland ever. Be Everybody's
people are gonna go. You're gonna have a great.
Speaker 5 (15:50):
Craft Henderson round the bases of the most.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
And if nothing else, they're gonna show up and get
the giveaways. I mean, that's what A's fans have been
doing for the last twenty plus years. There's Bobblehead Day
where they we go through the germ styles and then
we're back on bart twenty minutes.
Speaker 5 (16:06):
Steal a chair Bobblehead Day.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
Yeah, I mean, I mean, I can't believe no one's
tried to take a base like Ricky Henderson. We ripped
out the bag after you set the stolen base record,
Like no one's taking a base out.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
It really is one of my favorite moments. There was
no consideration whatsoever. I'm taking this damn base.
Speaker 5 (16:22):
Well if they do, now Smith, you're going to jail.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
No, No, I'm not.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
I'm not okay you out there. Don't eat dirt and
don't steal the base. I'm just saying what people are stealing.
I don't steal anything, but yes, don't steal anything. Don't
eat dirt and don't steal anything. But what I'm saying
is on the bass value in under nine fifty. No
one's tried to steal a base yet running out with them. Sorry,
I had I had to ask the base.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
It's too hard.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
The base there's so much bigger now, you know what,
the change in size the last couple of years. Just
can't carry it like I used to. Man, I'm just
gonna take my chair with me.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
Well, since the base is bigger, does it devalue it
like like milestones.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
Here's a base untouched by Oakland A's cleats for the
entire year because it's third base. We haven't had a
runner year all year logs And while this is happening,
tonight was the end of the road for this year
for now. For Caitlin Clark, Fever get eliminated in the playoffs.
They lose to the Connecticut Sun two games to none. Oh,
(17:20):
by the way, I feel pretty confident in thinking this
is the last year. The first round of the playoffs
with the WNBA are gonna be best of three. I'm
sure they'll be best of five. Next your aggressive expanse
instead of hey, let's just try to sneak the playoffs
in under the radar.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
No no, no, Now we're gonna wind.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
Up having it big. The Fever looked like they could
pull off the upset, and they were with big underdogs
in this series. But the Sun win again eighty seven,
eighty one and a two big takes, two big takeaways
on Caitlin Clark because now we can look back at
a year in totality. I really am.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
Mat I said it last night. Hey, I actually might
go to Vegas.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
I actually might put my money where my mouth is
because I told you after all the controversy with Djna
Carrington and poking her in the eye. Watched the night
Caitlyn Clark has tomorrow. She knows what Carrington did was
on purpose. You saw the smug look on her face
while she was answering questions. You know she did it
on purpose. They try to get under her skin. You
saw it tonight with a couple of fouls as well.
(18:19):
I've watched the game Caitlin Clark has and I'm going
over on all of her props, points, rebounds, assists, and
sure enough, that hit midway through the fourth quarter twenty
five points, nine assists, six rebounds all. All over all,
I could hit the trifecta props, Mike Harmet and I
did not.
Speaker 4 (18:37):
Do it well, but you know, you did speak it
into an existence here on Fox Sports Radio as a pundit,
as an analyst, and as a prognosticator. I mean, that
was the equivalent of putting up a giant golden boot
on the desk and saying it's my my.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
Shoe of the week, and you hit it. It came
in huge. Shit. Look, man, I'm working on some props
to add some.
Speaker 5 (19:05):
Bits, but bet the l.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Well, look, I look, the Fever aren't as good as
these teams. I will I will say this is probably
the last year you're gonna see the Fever go out
in the first round. Yeah, they have, they have some
really good players. Now they've played all year together. They
made a huge jump. They hadn't made the playoffs in
seven eight years. Caitlyn Clark's just gonna be better next year.
This is this is one of those when Deon Sander says,
get us now, I'm like, yeah, dude, they'll get you
(19:29):
whenever they want to, because you're not very good.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
You know, Kaly got like plus side though. I mean
it was a push, yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
Like get her now.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
Get Caitlyn Clark and the fever now, because you're not
gonna get it that. It's not gonna happen in the future.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
Like they're a six point spread though, and they are
ascending and they're young, and Eliah Boston's man. For as
much as we talk about Caitlyn Clark, my goodness, she's good.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
Yeah. I mean, look, they've at Kelsey Mitchell, they have
a big three there in Indiana and they're all really good.
But obviously, look Caitlyn Clark is the show. And for
the year that she has had that basically has gone
from last November, last October when she was a senior
to be at Iowa and it's ending now. It has
(20:09):
been almost a full straight year of heavy basketball all
the time, right, So yes, absolutely she needs a break.
She said she's not going to play again. You're probably
not going to see her publicly playing until April, which, yeah, yeah,
take some time off get in the gym, whatever you
want to do.
Speaker 3 (20:25):
But when you look at her.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
Impact on this league in its totality, the names that
are mentioned are are crazy. We told you the beginning
of the year, Hey, she's the biggest college basketball women
superstar we had seen. She's the most popular player in
all of college basketball, men and women. She's coming into
the NBA and having the Magic and Larry like effect.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
She's both Magic and Larry.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
Then congratulates everybody who stole the take of Oh, it's
like her and Angel Reefs are Magic and Larry. No, No,
Angel rees is a really good player.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
She's a star.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
Not Caitlin Clark. I'm sorry, she's not. No matter what
you want to say about her, She's not Kaitlyn Clark,
is Lebron James, She's Patrick Mahomes, She's Tom Brady, She's
the show. Right, That's how good she is. So she
comes in with that, and you see very quickly because
of the interest in her, yes, you want to feel
obligatory to mention the rest of the rookie class. But
because of her, you add the new TV rights, go
(21:19):
into the billions of dollars. You add charter flights for
all the players and all the teams now, and you
had all kinds of jealousy all season long from players
and coaches alike. Right, she comes in as Larry and
Magic with a game that most resembles Steph Curry, but
she actually rounded her game off, and now her game
is actually more refined and a little bit wider game
(21:41):
because she's the best point guard in the league look
and as good again as great a player a step Look,
Steph's a better shoots the best shooter anybody has ever seen.
Caitlin Clark really didn't shoot as well this year, but
that's not the player that Steph Curry is. Right. What
she's done is she's decided to say, Okay, you think
I'm not going to make my teammates better, here's the
player I can really become, leads league and assist breaks
a record for assists in the year. Everything she's done, right,
(22:04):
finish fourth for the MVP, despite the fact that everybody
is jealous of her. So you have Magic and Larry
and then you have Steph Curry. But now seeing the
playoffs end, I'm gonna throw out Lebron James because that's
kind of how the rest of the league sees her right.
(22:24):
Lebron James twenty years in the NBA now and still
he's very polarizing. Now, Lebron is much more look at
me than Caitlyn Clark is. Lebron on and off the
court has always been that guy. Caitlyn Clark is a
look at me on the court. But off the court,
she does her own thing, doesn't cause controversy, doesn't say
bad things about people, just kind of I want to
play basketball and get used to how it can influence people.
(22:48):
But she's not someone that goes off and says, hey, hey, hey,
I need all your attention now. No, she usually saves
that for the court, but she's still polarizing the You know,
players didn't like Lebron when he came in. All of
a sudden, Lebron's gonna saved the league. Leg's been in
a pretty good place, and so Lebron the last twenty years,
as big as superstar as he's been, hasn't really gotten
the whole league wide respect as a whole from the
(23:10):
players who still go after him, and he still doesn't
get the respects from the officials where there's times he's
fouled and I can't believe he doesn't get the call,
not that it's not even a superstar call, it's just
a call that anybody would get, and he doesn't get them.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
And that's the case with Caitlyn Clark.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
There's a couple of plays tonight where right and from
the referee, there are egregious fouls that are missed. And yes,
the WNBA referees may be the worst officials in all
of sports because some of the stuff they miss, not
even Caitlyn Clark wise, when they're just staring at the play.
I don't understand. I don't understand how you actually get
to work this game. How do you see what's going
on in front of you? You don't blow the whistle, but
(23:49):
had her she got mugged on a play down low, okay,
but then you had the big play that went viral
where Bonnard doesn't give her a place to land and
Kaitlyn Clark takes a three and comes down. That's something
that can injure people. Right, that's Bruce Bowen, a dirty
player as he was in the NBA.
Speaker 4 (24:04):
But I mean that's an automatic call in the NBA. Right,
You're like the invisible arc, right.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
And especially since she's shooting the ball so they're looking
at her and and the balls away. You have to
stay and look and see what happens, right, You have
to say that. But she doesn't get those calls. She
got mad after she pushed on her when they tried
to talk afterwards, like she's someone I got to stand
up for myself.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
Does she do it a little too much at times? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (24:30):
I think she got to pick her spots, But overall
it's hey, if you're not making these calls, I got
to say something about it. And all season long, that's
the biggest thing. You have a lot of players that
want to test Caitlin Clark because they're jealous of her.
I can't tell them how to feel, even though they
should be grateful with what she does in the league.
If you're trying to get her off her game and
win games, hey have at it. But the games have
(24:51):
to be officiated fairly, and they have to be officiated
where if you take runs at somebody, or you poke
somebody in the eye, or you don't give somebody a landing,
that's gotta be something that's either you don't miss when
it happens, or you go back and correct it after
it does. Like that, Like and they miss all of
these for her this year. So that's kind of why
(25:11):
I look at her and I go I think the
rest of the league sees her like like the NBA
sees Lebron polar incredible talent. Can't deny it, even though
I don't want to because I just don't like her
for some reason. But but I'm not We're not going
to give her calls. The official is not going to
give her calls, and I'm still gonna try to go
give her hell, maybe over the top, just because I
don't like her. And I kind of feel like that's
been Lebron as well throughout his time in the NBA.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
I think the curiosity, you know, go back to when
Shaquille O'Neill was in the league at his at his peak.
It becomes the how much contact is too much contact
by him or against him? And Lebron, I think gets
some of that too when he goes Clyde Drexler and
puts his head down and goes into the lane, because
a lot of it is all right. It should be
an offensive foul, shouldn't it. I guess maybe not so
(25:58):
like for him, you get a bit of that for
Caitlin Clark. Yeah, I mean we saw several plays today.
You chronicle the two biggest that have gone viral, but
plenty of others and the rest of the game was
just sloppy. I mean, how many times did you have
three people go into the deck. It's like there's a
lot of contact that you could hear the slap coming
through on the parabolic microphone. Right, that's court side. It
(26:21):
doesn't matter. Officials are just looking around shrugging, and the
play goes back the other way, you know, with three
of the ten players still dusting themselves off. So you know,
problematic there. So I would imagine the officiating is something
that will get addressed this offseason. You say, Lebron in
terms of current and in a million ways, the impact
(26:42):
I look a little bit of Luka doncis too playmaker,
score facilitator and then always up to the referee.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
Come on, come on, and I agree with you.
Speaker 4 (26:53):
You know you look if you don't stand up for yourself,
and this is a general rule of life for everybody
out there, right, we appreciate you where you're listening on
this global platform. Yeah, the iHeartRadio app and all our
stations is that if you don't ask for yourself, who
how can you expect somebody else to do it right?
And what's the worst someone can tell you is no.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
Go away.
Speaker 4 (27:15):
And for Caitlin Clarks, she's done that off season long. Hey,
what where's my call? Explain to me how I didn't
get this call? As you see my eyes swelling, How
do I not.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
Get this call? And things of that nature.
Speaker 4 (27:28):
But all of that will will smooth itself out, I
would suspect in time. Otherwise it'll come to a head,
right because I got to think over the course of
the off season, as everybody adjusts to the new normal
and sees the money that's flowing and all of these
business partnerships and all of the Now you add the
fashion lines that are getting involved with everything right the
(27:51):
arrival and people staking their claims there, everybody's getting fed.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
All the players are getting fed.
Speaker 4 (27:59):
So recognizing that much of it, can't say all of it,
but much of it is attributed to old number twenty
two coming into the league, and begrudgingly, they're all going
to have to accept that, even you, Cheryl Swoops, I
know you're listening.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
I mean, just think of those comps, Magic, Larry Steph
Lebron like, that's.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
Kind of what she's changing stuff man like that.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
The economics of it, it's absolutely fascinating. The white papers
on the impact at every part of every vertical in
this business is just immense.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
It's so much fun to watch exit. That about a
Fresco exit swollen dome. Jason Smith Mike Harmon live from
the tirec dot Com studios. We got more coming up
in ninety seconds, but first, a very nervous and upset
Brian Fedley has what's trending in the wide nervous sports.
I say this because the Padres no longer have the
lead over the Dodgers as the Dodgers bat in the seventh.
Speaker 6 (28:52):
Thing and the other thing Jason and Mike is, not
only are the Dodgers batting well, looks like they just
as I'm talking, they just ran into a double play.
But I was gonna say they had a couple of
guys on base with one out and now the double play,
and now the seventh inning is over. But yes, the
Dodgers are still in front four to three against the
Padres going into the eighth inning. It's something you guys
(29:13):
were talking about as well. Choyo Tani picked up his
fifty sixth stolen base of the year.
Speaker 7 (29:19):
He did it in this game.
Speaker 6 (29:19):
He also, of course, leads the National League that is
in home runs, and he has two rbi in this one.
Speaker 7 (29:26):
It was an RBI that.
Speaker 6 (29:27):
Broke up a two to two tie, made a three
to two, and then three all he brings in another
run and it's four to three now. And that's where
we stand in a game that has a lot of
implications regarding the NL West and who comes out on
top there. The Dodgers going into this game leading the
NLS by two games over the Padres, both of those
teams that are already in the postseason. The other games
(29:49):
everything else has wrapped up. The Phillies over the Cubs
nine to six, the NL East clinching Phillies get the
job done. There also notable wins for the Royals, nothing
against the Nationals and the Tigers seven to went against
the Rays. Tigers and the Royals tied for second right
there in the AL wild card picture, so they picked
up some key wins.
Speaker 7 (30:10):
Yankees did not pick up a key win.
Speaker 6 (30:12):
They lost at home despite the major league leading fifty
seventh home run from Aaron Judge on the way to
a nine to seven road loss against the Orioles. The Yankees,
if they would have won, they could have wrapped up
the AL East crown, but that's not going to happen
as if yet. Also something to mention the Twins victorious
eight to three against the Marlins. The Twins are still
(30:33):
in the AL wild Card race. So are the Mariners.
They were the first game to wrap up after the
Astros clinched the AL West yesterday in their series. The
Mariners can right back and get it done eight to
one against Houston, so the Mariners are still hanging in
there as well. The Mets Brave series, there's two games left.
They're going to move that until Monday in a doubleheader
(30:55):
because of the hurricane threat.
Speaker 7 (30:57):
And the rain in the area. And that means Jason
and Mike.
Speaker 6 (31:01):
At least Mike, you're gonna be watching Jason nervously with
the Mets. They're up one game on the Braves in
this NL Wildcard picture.
Speaker 7 (31:09):
And guys, as I worked.
Speaker 6 (31:11):
The microphone back to you, I do want to mention
that I'm sure that Jason is nervous, as is the
world of the WNBA and the fan base, because of
course we as you were just talking about Kaitlin Clark
and her fever. They get swept in the first round
Game two, going to the connecticuts in eighty seven to
(31:32):
eighty one. So that first chapter the rookie season of
Caitlin Clark. The ink running dry, but the conversations continue
on for those two guys right over there, Jason Smith
and Mike Carmon.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
Thank you, Brian Fenley. The Jason Smith Show with Mike
Carmon Live from the Ti rack dot com studios.
Speaker 3 (31:50):

Speaker 5 (32:49):
You're funny.
Speaker 1 (32:49):
I thought I could know.
Speaker 6 (32:51):
No, No, Jason, there's things in life that are always
going to happen.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
Are you ready for find O? Well, you have to
be in at work to actually do it. Tyshon here,
you work like three diasity. You're like you work less
than lamar Odam when he played in the NBA.
Speaker 5 (33:05):
I actually met lamar Odam.
Speaker 3 (33:06):
You're not even in.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
Every other game, guy, like like lamar Odin was in
every other game. Guy, you're like every story.
Speaker 5 (33:12):
Yeah I met lamar Odam.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
Okay, wait Bunny Ranch?
Speaker 5 (33:15):
Where did not the Bunny Ranch?
Speaker 1 (33:17):
Okay? Good, because I'd say we have to save that
story for next time.
Speaker 5 (33:20):
Down the street I met him.
Speaker 1 (33:21):
We have to be in safe Harbor.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
If you're gonna tell that we're down.
Speaker 5 (33:24):
The street, save Harbor, Michael, I'll tell you guys.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
Okay, Well, it's but not everywhere yet Frostburg got I know,
but not everywhere. We guys gotta be saved harbor everywhere
for us to do it. Uh.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
We'll have more baseball coming up in a few minutes.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
It looked the biggest story of the day has to
do with what's gonna, hopefully not uh be something the
East Coast can't deal with, Hurricane Helen. But look, our
business is sports. Obviously we'll get to that story coming
up in a few minutes. And we have the big
Thursday night football game tomorrow that a lot of people
are gonna watch because look, it's the Cowboys and the Giants,
(34:03):
and everybody's waiting for things to just absolutely implode for
the Cowboys. I want to press that plunger and hit
the panic button. I have just waged out my hand
hovering over the panic button like I'm groot and guarding
to the galaxy too.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
Don't press the panic button.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
I am groot. Now, No, no, no, We're playing the
Giants on Thursday. It should be fine. So how are
Dallas and the Giants going to go? Dallas is favored
by five. The over under is forty four and a half.
Speaker 3 (34:31):
Mike Harmon kick it off, how do you think this
is gonna go tomorrow night.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
Well, I think Aubrey greater than anything else the Giants have.
I love the leak neighbors having himself. Look, he's going
to set a record for targets in a season when
it's all said and done. Singletary has been great, averaging
nearly five yards to carry in place of Saquon Barkley.
So they've been been fine, just fine there. Daniel Jones
(34:56):
not as bad as everybody expects him to be. They
should have beaten Washington if not for the kicking fiasco
in week two.
Speaker 3 (35:04):
But would I should have? Could haves?
Speaker 4 (35:06):
They sit at one and two getting five and a half.
Here's Jason. I'll take the points, but I'll take Aubrey
to do just enough.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
To get the field.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
I regret. Look I said it to Jason Cole. I start.
It's the best player they have on that team.
Speaker 4 (35:25):
Right. Go back to a week one Hans Cleveland. It's like, oh,
look they beat the het of Cleve.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
What do they do?
Speaker 4 (35:32):
They super towed their asses all the way over there,
fifty six fifty four whatever.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
I'm not saying you're wrong, It's just just great. He's
another guy I'm gonna pay him. I paid DAC, I
paid CD. I would feel different about this game if
not for two reasons, because I'm going Cowboys. I'm giving
the five and I'm taking the over uh number one.
Because this is exactly what the Cowboys need. They need
a short week. They need a short week to get
(35:57):
back to playing after getting just roaded defensively the last
two weeks. Right, the Saints offense does it to them,
and then the Ravens offense does it to them, and
Derrick Henry runs over them and Lamar Jackson runs around them.
They need a short week, right, They need a short
week because clearly they are hemorrhage. They're still more talented
than the Giants. But the other big thing is this
(36:19):
is I have seen so many games where the Dallas
Cowboys have come in and turned Daniel Jones into the
worst version of himself. Not that the best version is
all that great, but at least the best version of
Daniel Jones. Can you know, no, no, no, no no,
I've seen them turn him into the worst version of
himself so many times. They find a way to get
(36:39):
after him, they find a way to disrupt him. And
that's what's gonna happen tomorrow night. Dak and CD will
hook up a bit. Look, the Giants aren't great, They're
not going to really stop anybody. The Dallas attack is
really two persons oriented now, but that's kind of how
it goes. Dallas will get up, they'll score some points.
Giants will get some points on the board too. It's
why I like the over, But I see the Cowboys
(37:00):
winning this by a couple of touchdowns. This is something
like a like like a twenty eight to twenty kind
of game where I will take the Cowboys minus five
and I'll take the over.
Speaker 4 (37:09):
For his career averaging fifty eight point eight percent completion
rate and zero point five touchdowns per game against the Cowboys,
now you hang a stark be as two of those
he left early due to injury.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
But he thought, for a second, we're giving me when
you were giving me percentages and they're giving me Aubrey's percentages.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
No, no, no, he's a I thought you were going
back to that. Okay, he's a damn wizard. That would
have been a better.
Speaker 4 (37:32):
Bit to just stick with the positivity of the kicker,
because he's the guy making He's the straw that stirs
the drink.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
For give the guy.
Speaker 3 (37:42):
He's ten of ten.
Speaker 4 (37:43):
Yeah, five of five on Pats Giants wish they had
a guy that could do that.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
But here's the thing.
Speaker 4 (37:50):
Nine of his ten field goals from at least forty
yards out, including five of five from fifty plus.
Speaker 3 (37:57):
Let's go. He's the difference maker here and.
Speaker 5 (38:01):
A half for nine inches.
Speaker 1 (38:02):
Guys, that was a week ago, Frostburg, that was a
week ago.
Speaker 4 (38:06):
I don't know how old that video is though, that's
the that's the larger question, because we had a couple
of people on Twitter going, you guys really aren't gonna
lean into answer question.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
Well, he said eight, take the over, So he said
eight and a half' I don't think they put an
over under out there, but take the over.
Speaker 3 (38:23):
Hey hey, Jamie, you wanted might stop?
Speaker 1 (38:25):
Uh you want to stop live streaming this because uh,
I'm gonna say something that's uh and n w F
s uh that that people say is not not.
Speaker 3 (38:34):
Not for work?
Speaker 1 (38:35):
Is it? Is it safe to whatever? Whatever?
Speaker 3 (38:37):
The kids say, That's what I'm doing. Yeah, that that.
Speaker 4 (38:41):
Video came out and it's like, all right, is that old?
Is that a couple of years old? Like, because Jamie Fox,
I mean he's been kind of in and out of Sure. Sure,
no availability, I guess would be the way to say it.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
So I don't know anybody was in Spider Man. Sure,
just Spider Man. Spider Man.
Speaker 1 (39:02):
Now, look, the Cowboys. It's a get it's a get
well if you can't get well against the Giants. Because
I'll even go this far if they lose to the
Giants tomorrow, like their season's over. If you can't beat
the Giants and they stink like this and you look
like it's over, like you're not gonna suddenly, Hey, we
got everything. We're circling the wagons and we're getting it
(39:23):
going like it's over if they lose to the Giants
tomorrow night, because.
Speaker 3 (39:26):
That's the danger of it.
Speaker 4 (39:27):
Though, Jason, It's like, I don't think they're terrible, and
we've talked about the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (39:32):
We don't think they're good. So Rubber meets the road
tomorrow night.
Speaker 1 (39:36):
Let's go exit out about a Fresca exit swollen down
the Jason Smith Show with my best friend my Carmen
coming up next, we get back into the biggest late
developing story and then I keep it here Fox
