(00:48):
Two big college football games going on right now, Oregon
Dylan Gabriel up over Michigan State twenty one to nothing
at f time. Meanwhile, UNLV and Syracuse hope you like
points twenty one seventeen UNLV with the lead Syracuse and
Kyle McCord down on the six yard line of UNLV

(01:08):
on the doorstep from a Cord so far two hundred
and thirteen yards and a touchdown, and again we are
early in the third quarter. How about the rest of
this big weekend in college football? Joining us now in

(01:35):
It is Pete fu tech Pete. What's happening? Buddy?

Speaker 3 (01:37):
What's going on?

Speaker 4 (01:38):
Joman?

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Are you guys watching this Oregon game? I'm sure you're
locked into Syracuse, but are you are you watching this
Michigan State game? Because it's it sounds like twenty one nothing?
But kind does it feel like twenty one nothing? It's
like Michigan State keeps screwing this up, and I'm not
buying this Oregon thing as much as the rest of

(01:59):
the world is. Which foreshadowing to next week, because let's
just say this week a little wanting in big games.
Ohio State, I thinks to come in and truck him,
But yeah, hey, twenty one nothing. It's a Michigan State
team that's pretty good, and your Syraccuth Orange will be fine.
Eventually UNLB will wake up and realizes UNLB, and I'll
be Okay.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Well, I was hoping you could do me a favorite
peat because I know you have a lot of people
you can reach out to in college football. Can you
get Kyle McCord another year of eligibility because after tonight
the whole college football world's going to see just how
good he is. He has been phenomenal the first month
of the season. He is strong, he's smart, he's smooth,
he's always in control. You play on national TV, things happen.

(02:41):
But I need another year, like this can't be the last.
Can you call somebody and get another year for him?

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Does Fran Brown have any other like you know guys
that he's known since you know five? Isn't that the
story that somehow run knew Kyle mccorley coached his like
little hots team or something and that's how the relationship
started there? But good, I mean, he he's there's the
old House State quarterback. I mean, he got unfairly blamed
last year because he's not TJ Stroud.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
But who is you know?

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Because the Ohio State offense went from bombing away on
everybody two years ago to just kind of being okay,
and look, you know, like as I've you know, you
guys know Garding, anybody else that said this before they
were there. They were an undefeated team, they had the
puck on their stuff with a chance to beat Michigan
late Micortho's at late pick and he had I was
not Michigan and the Macortho's a late pick and you

(03:29):
know that's it.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
But he's good.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
He's a very very good quarterback. You don't start at
at Ohio State if you don't know what you're doing.
And he's good. But all right, now go beat UNLV.
You know the stats and it's everyone kind of assumed
that UNLV like, oh, this is interesting and fun. They've
never gone five and o before in the history of
this program. It's an awful, awful football program that all

(03:53):
of a sudden, next head coach, next Florida head coach,
Barry Odam is going doing great things with.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Are you going to say everybody is next Florida head coach?
You know, I.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
Could not, I could not hit a.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
Very Billy Napier's agent should still still owes me a
balloon bouquet. For as much as I kept pumping that
guy up and it was going to be done.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
Next big thing.

Speaker 5 (04:19):
You just you never know.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
I mean, you get into a great situation. Look, Scott
Frost was great at US. Of course it was a
perfect situation to go back to z Alma, Moderate Nebraska.
You know, it just it just you never know how
these coaching things work. But certainly, again, what Billy Barry
Odam is doing in this thing is nothing short of miraculous,
because again, the history of UNLV is littered with two

(04:43):
and eight teams. It's just it's a bad program for football.
And this is the best era of UNLV football ever
over the last year and a half so far, so
to be to be merely competitive in a game like
this is pretty strong for this program.

Speaker 6 (04:59):
Good times all around on a Friday night. There's no
question about only one top twenty five game this week.
Pete Missouri number nine heading to A and M and
they're a two and a half point dog. I don't
know that it's moving the needle. Everybody's looking ahead to
next week or any.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Yeah, it's it's not, but it is a big one
because now you know, look at Texas A and M's
schedule going forward.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
If it beats Missouri.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
It's kind of got I don't know if he's smooth Salings.
It's the SEC, but it's got it pretty easy up
until the end of the season. And that Texas games
in College Station. So that was kind of the thing
about that opener against Notre Dame wher.

Speaker 5 (05:38):
You know, you look.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Ahead at that schedule and someone's gotta, you know, miss
somebody in this whole expansion world. When everyone's like, oh gosh,
we got Texas and Oklahoma or going to the SEC,
and you know, Oregon and usc is, you know, Washington
going to the big tim Well, not everyone has to
play those teams in an eight or nine game conference schedule.
And it just so happens that this year Texas A

(05:59):
and M missus out Obama, Georgia, Tennessee. You know, they
miss all the big guns, and so if they can
pull this off against mis Zoo, they're just gonna kind
of keep on hanging around. All of a sudden, We're
gonna be in November, like, wait a minute, Texas A
and M nine to one. Okay, but they got to
pull this one off first, and I think they will.
I think I'm not sold on Miszoo.

Speaker 5 (06:20):
I haven't told on them.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
Last year they really beat anybody great.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
They lost the two games they had to win they
didn't and so.

Speaker 5 (06:28):
Far this year should have lost to Boston.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
College has been sort of mess so far.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
But you know, let's see, because Texas A and.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
M should have the makeup to pull this off. But
this is for being a you know, kind of a
low level talk ranking game of cops sway five teams,
it should actually be pretty good.

Speaker 6 (06:46):
Yeah, the Aggies only have LSU is the only other
ranked team. Hey, and if you wanted to on the
nineteenth you go see I'm at Mississippi State for the
price cup of coffee.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Of course that's right after I took over the Mississippi
State said on the side. But yeah, just don't fluse
to Toledo by a million. But yeah, it's again, everyone's
got to play someone. Someone's got to play Mississippi State.
Someone has to play uh, you know, the South Carolinas
in Kentucky's in the world, which are just okay compared

(07:19):
to the you know, the Bamas and Georgia's. But uh,
look again, you gotta you gotta pull off these wins
because as we saw, you know, last week, Kentucky is
able to beat Old Miss.

Speaker 5 (07:28):
You know, it's the SCC.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Things can rise up and happen at anytime.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
So college football insider Pete fu Tech with us, the
Jason smithser with Mike carbon Lodge and the tirec dot
com studios. All right, so tomorrow we kind of get
the college football version of the old like Big East
ACC challenge, right because you have former PAC twelve schools
playing all the Big Ten schools and ACC schools playing
the PAC twelve schools. So let me ask you this,
because it's all gonna come down to at the end

(07:53):
with the twelve playoff spots, Hey, what conference is going
to get three? What conference could get for? Which conference?
Right now? Is in you the most?

Speaker 5 (08:01):
Uh impressing the most? Overall?

Speaker 3 (08:03):
It's yeah, I guess you have to kind of say
the Big Ten has been pretty good so far, but uh,
you know, the SEC at the top has been been strong,
but the mid level is a little bit wanting.

Speaker 5 (08:16):
So I don't think any may set up, but certainly
the ECC is not the ACC is.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
I'm not impressed by Miami. Uh, Clemson's was great, but
they got hosed by Georgia to start the season.

Speaker 5 (08:27):
So uh, this the ACC is just okay.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Case Florida stay off. Remember tomorrow is supposed to be
Clemson Florida State Day. That was the post.

Speaker 5 (08:36):
That was the big night game.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
It's the big prime time matchup, and and obviously that's
not happening. So that's that's kind of why this week
kind of thinks. But the ACC is not it.

Speaker 5 (08:47):
Uh, the big pot fine, but you know.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
What I mean in Utah, Arizona at the top not great,
you know, So.

Speaker 5 (08:54):
It's just an okay conference.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
So obviously is what we're gonna have to you know,
special the rest of our lives.

Speaker 5 (08:58):
Basically, the SEC and BIG are actually the best sou
but they're.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Gonna get all the teams in and they're making deals
and make sure they get everybody into even more teams
than in the future.

Speaker 5 (09:07):
Uh So I would have to one with.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Rambling way of kind of saying, I'm gonna say the
SEC right now just because they are so loaded the
top heavy in that comp Now, you brought.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Up Miami last week.

Speaker 6 (09:17):
We rode the roller coaster while you were alive on air,
the good, the bad, the overturn, all that fun stuff. Uh,
do they go on the road to cal and lose
with Marshawn Lynch riding around in a cart and doing wheelies.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Yeah, I'm actually kind of buying into the idea that
the plane rights matter. I just, you know, I mock
into all blue big deal. You got a plane, you
put on your headphones, you watch John Wick three times
and you're there.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
Yeah buddy, yeah, buddy.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
That's not that I've done that or anything. But look,
you know, these are these are long trims for these guys,
and you know, the Circadian rhythm and all that kind
of stuff where you could try to figure out.

Speaker 5 (09:56):
All all you want, but you know, for these.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
Guys like my they're gonna be playing at like two
in the morning, you know their time, you know. So, uh,
these things actually kind of matter a little bit. Between
Miami and Cal and between Stanford, who I think might
have a real shot to beat Virginia Tech, I think
there are I think at least one of.

Speaker 4 (10:17):
Those two Bay Area teams is gonna pull it off.
I just don't buy Miami.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
I just they're gonna be one of those that's another
one exactly.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Like Texas A.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
And if if they beat Cal tomorrow, who do they
play the rest of the way.

Speaker 4 (10:29):
Nobody? They don't have notre name on the slate this year.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Florida State's obviously met and they don't get to play Clemson.

Speaker 5 (10:36):
So there's really.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
Nothing else there the rest of the way, as long
as they don't, you know, face plant in a game
like this.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
All right, First, all I hear you, because we flew back,
flying back from England to LA this summer. We stopped
over New York. I watched Top Gun Maverick twice. On
the plant from New York to l I watched it
started again, watch all right, got it? Two more versions
of it. Lastly, let me ask you this, if you
had to say, Hey, if I had to say, what

(11:03):
big upset could we be talking about? After tomorrow? We
got to get the big acc Big ten, big big Challenge,
Day one one big upset tomorrow? Which one you what
are you gonna give me?

Speaker 5 (11:13):
I'm saying I'm staying with it.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
I'm going with out of the two, I guess cal
would be bigger over Miami. I'm saying Stanford Virginia Tech
just doesn't have the player to make it. When Stanford's
one of those teams that they're not very good, but
they hang around, hang around, hang around.

Speaker 5 (11:28):
Uh and then all of a.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
Sudden playoffs And I hate to say because it's actually
not an.

Speaker 5 (11:32):
Upset, but I don't know how it's not an upset.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
I think Washington finally gets it together and gets it
done against Michigan. They've been close to being okay.

Speaker 5 (11:42):
But wow, if Michigan kid.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Doesn't find a passing game right away, that's gonna be
a problem because unlike last year, you might have gone
to the National Championship, but Washington has a better defense
this time run under Jet Fish.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
Well, let me just real quick on that peep, because
this is something Mike and I have talked about a lot.
Michigan's a big obviously of what we've seen from them
so far this season. How are you not ready for
the post? JJ McCarthy era, I don't I don't understand, right,
I don't get how you're not ready. Hey, here's our
next five star guy, and he's ready to go. I
get to Jayden Davis came in. He was good, but

(12:16):
really he's not good enough to start. He's not. I mean,
you're you're stuck with a guy who is a walk
on and a guy who's been a seventh year senior
and a gadget guy who is starting right now? How
is this where Michigan's at of quarterback?

Speaker 5 (12:26):
Oh, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
Somebody I might be talking to at the moment might
not have pointed up enough. And I held money to
help out because.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
I mean, I don't know, I was amazing.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
Ohio State apparently cares more about these things with their
twenty million dollars collective or whatever it is they've got. No,
I'm with you because I think they thought Worgi was
actually going to be better than this. And uh, I
guess if you're Michigan, it's easy to just say run
the ball, run the ball, ball on the ball, the line,
your defense, don't screw up the passing game. But it's
also limiting him because there's a ton orgy. Just don't

(13:00):
screw this thing up and he's not. But that might
be just enough to get them beat. But you're right,
I don't know how a lot of these teams don't
have not have a star.

Speaker 5 (13:09):
You know what, Indian's got Curtis work out of Ohio.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
How much would you love to have that guy right now?

Speaker 1 (13:14):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (13:14):
And that's Indiana, you know, So you think that these
be a little bit better.

Speaker 4 (13:18):
At the talent evaluation aspect.

Speaker 6 (13:20):
Of this way to get that Indiana reference in as
they take on Northwestern tomorrow. But the Michigan thing, Pete,
I've just theorized there's a hell of a lot of
negative recruiting of you guys are getting the death penalty.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
It's all going to hell. Why why would you want
to go there?

Speaker 3 (13:34):
Yeah, because that's what nil money is for, because what
if these guys carry you. I'm caring what the death
toll you're gonna give me? You know that Matt Sluca
money one hundred grand to get there? Take that dealt
too soon.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
He's on Twitter Apache Tech that is ad peche Tech.
Check out college Footballnews dot com. You're one stop shopping
for everything college football. All the predictions, all the analysis
are there for you. Pete his own buddy. Appreciate it, man,
we'll talk to you next week. Enjoy the games. That's good.
So now I get to tell Pam, Hey, it's your fault,
Michigan vo quarterback. Yeah no, Peter feu Tech said it

(14:09):
was your foot. You didn't give enough money for an
eye to enough that. That's all your fault, Pam. You
didn't join the Friends of whatever, what do you mean
it's my fault? I don't know. He just told me
it was your fault. All right, figure it out. Wait,
wait a minute. Your money's my money, So hang on
a second. You specifically, Pam, it wasn't me. I'm not

(14:30):
the Michigan alum. You righte the checks. I love this
day in college football tomorrow because it does it has
that sense of the you know, when the Big the
Big Ten, ACC Challenge or the Pac twelve Big because
you have all these teams who have jumped into the
Big ten now, but they all still feel like Pac
twelve teams. What you got Michigan and Washington are gonna

(14:52):
play and U c. L a Is gonna play Penn State,
and that's kind of fun, and and you want to
go down late in the day you mentioned Miami and
Cal is gonna play USC Minnesota Like this is fun.
It's like, hey, we're gonna see is a PAC twell
still really good enough from last year? Like I kind
I kind of like this, dad. I think it's pretty cool.

Speaker 6 (15:09):
I think there's a lot of fun matchups and a
lot of potential chaos and a lot of potential blowouts.
Like that's the other part of this like you look
at some of the lines you talk about U c
l A at Penn State.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
Man, that's just not pretty.

Speaker 5 (15:22):
Man.

Speaker 6 (15:22):
That's a game on Fox. So you should watch the
obliteration that that's the.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Big nude kickoff, right, not the big nude kickoff.

Speaker 6 (15:30):
But you want to you want to talk about a
dude who Yeah, I'm gonna take this job at UCLA,
Eric p Enemy.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
How's that working out?

Speaker 6 (15:37):
I'm saying, Hey, I should be in charge of something huge.

Speaker 1 (15:41):

(17:25):
content out for you every single night, even when Syracuse
gives away a fourteen nothing lead and now we're losing
twenty one fourteen. Yeah, I was fast. But it's okay.
You know why it's okay. Ask me why it's okay.
Why is it okay? Because Alonzo hit a home run
last night, That's what That's why it's okay. No. I
like Kyle McCord.

Speaker 6 (17:41):
If you had the over on his yard and you're
gonna get that, there's no question over.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
I wish he had another. I bet you they fight
because he Kyle McCord is having an unbelievable year quarterback,
regardless as to you know what what team Power five conference,
he is having an unreal year. I wish he had
one more here of eligibility, I really do. But he
got screwed because he played in five games a couple
of years ago and that ruined it for him. So
I wonder if Syracuse is going to find a way

(18:09):
to try to petition in the NCAA Hey, wait a minute,
wait a minute. We need the guy, but his pro
prospects are just going through the roof. You got two guys,
big pro prospects playing tonight and Dylan Gabriel and Kyle McCord.
Just watch col McCord play for five minutes and tell
me that he's not the smartest guy in the field.
He always knows where to go with the ball. He's
got a strong arm, he always makes the right play.

(18:29):
He's the best throwing quarterback Syracuse has had in twenty
five years. That's how that's how good he is now.
Syracuse normally goes with with a lot of dual threat quarterbacks.
That's how it's always run. But as for throwing the football,
he's the best since Donovan McNabb. He's the best they've
had in twenty five years. Four games he's played, four
games is the best we've bad again in a quarter century.
You're absolutely killing the nasy era. How dare you?

Speaker 6 (18:51):
But watching him tonight, he's really good at scrambling for
his life and getting rid of the ball. So, I
mean that's been pretty impressive. Yeah, no, no, no, several
sequences of wow, he's going to die.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
Uh you run for your life really well, thank you
very much, thank you. I feel feel good about that.

Speaker 6 (19:08):
You're you've got your very fleet of foot your your
fight or flight response is very it hands.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
Congratulations mister McCord. Uh. Meanwhile, how about what what do
you want to do first? Mike Carmen mutiny or do
you want ed Gar Allan Poe? What do you want?

Speaker 6 (19:24):
I mean both are really exciting things because we either
get into Captain quig and mutiny on the bounty or
the k mutiny, I should say, or we or we
do a little bit of well classic poetry and descents
into madness.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
Okay, either way, I mean, we win. So let's go.
Let's let's start with the mutiny first, free to madness.
I thought you. Oh okay, see I thought you. I
think this because usually madness leads to mutiny like that
one way or the other those things. Yeah, so it
would make more sense to do the madness first and
then the mutiny.

Speaker 6 (19:58):
Well but you you could feel like there's a mutiny
happening and okay, then you descend into madness.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
And then you decide to act on it. Okay, since
you must have been one of those kids in school
that went to argue they're great with their teacher and
the teacher just said, yeah, what do you want? Ten
more points on your test?

Speaker 4 (20:17):
Here?

Speaker 1 (20:17):
You go, just get out, Just get out. I need
coffee and a cigarette.

Speaker 6 (20:19):
I may or may not have done that once once
or twice. I had a teacher getting my degree that
was a member of the Emily Dickinson Society. I decided
to have a unique perspective on interpreting a particular poem.
And she was as red in the face as you
could possibly get. And they were very loud arguments in

(20:43):
the middle of a class, to where everybody just kind
of chucks, like he's gonna kill her with this, Like
he's wounded her to her her soul with the way he's.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
Arg gonna kill this woman. Okay, all right, so let's
let's deal with Let's deal with the mutiny first, then
shout out. Evan Lazar, who works for the Patriots dot
Com as a senior reporter, had a podcast that he
appeared in yesterday that made all kinds of attention today
in that the Patriots locker room is approaching mutiny over

(21:18):
the decision to not start Drake May and can continue
to start Jacoby Brissett. He went on in detail to say,
guys getting upset. Ja Mario Douglas was upset. Jalen Polk
was upset. They're yelling at each other, like, why are
we out there killing ourselves when we're taking hits where
we have a guy that should be out here taking

(21:39):
hits with us and if he's ready, he made the
analogy of why are we keeping a ferrari in the garage?
We know we can get us the football. All of
this stuff has gone on and wow, the Patriots are
close to mutiny. It's mutiny, mister Christian, it's mutiny. Since
that happened, well, Girod Mayo was asked about it today,
he blew it off and those comments were then scrubb

(22:01):
from the podcast. So now unless you've heard it already,
you can't hear the mutiny with the New England Patriots.
Mutiny mutiny. Now let's just say this is it absolute
total mutiny. No, are the Patriots pissed? Absolutely? Who's the
happiest guy in the world right now? Because sometimes about happiness, right,
positivity on a frid and that's we're gonna do here, right?

(22:21):
Do the Patriots have problems one hundred percent? Why is
Drake may not start him because Jacobe Brissett the defenses
are too good. They're gonna give him a couple more
weeks and when things lighten up defense wise, Drake may
will be in there. This is how the NFL works.
I get that the Patriots are used to one way
of doing things for the better part of twenty years,
but that era is gone. Now. The happiest guy in
the world, I'll tell you happiest guy in the world

(22:41):
right now on Friday night, Bill Belichick, because he is
laughing at the pay what's going? Oh you miss me now,
don't you? You miss me in that empty cupboard I
left for you because I knew I was gonna get
fired and we weren't gonna win anymore. You miss me now,
don't you? With all this mutiny stuff happened. Oh yeah,
you couldn't keep me. You thought the game had passed. Yes,
I lost to the Jets at the end of the year.

(23:02):
I understand that was unforgivable. But boy, you miss me now.
And he is just laughing right now, probably talking to
Pat McAfee and a bunch of other guys. And hey,
I could be the celebrity picker on college game day
if you want. Whatever you want, guys, I'll hang out
with you all the time. Suddenly, now I'm laughing. Ah yah.
Bill Belichick's having the time of his life right now.
He is the happiest guy in the world. Can I

(23:22):
just put one thing in perspective in terms of the
passing game for the New England Patriots, you know, the
heretofore non existent passing game.

Speaker 6 (23:30):
Kirk Cousins passed for more yards last night than they
have on the year in four games, although the Chargers
aren't much further ahead with five hundred and forty four yards.
But Captain Kirk doing the rounds, you know, and doing
all that. But for the Patriots, yeah, it's been a disaster.
Five point one yards per pass play. Stevenson can't hold
on to the football and everything's going to hell. And

(23:53):
I understand the player's frustration of hey, we're get out
here taking our lumps. It's a little different when you're
a sitting duck as a quarterback, as much as you
can say, is like, as a receiver, are you really
taking a lot of hits, less persettes, hanging you out
to dry over the middle? Generally speaking, not so much
running backs. Yeah, you'll take your beating and you go
from there. But the quarterback position, and he's been under

(24:15):
siege you want to go take your rookie that you're
investing your future in and saying, hey, he's gotta be
out there battling with us. I get your frustration, But
if you think that's suddenly gonna fix everything and it's
all gonna be great, I mean, what just because he
showed up to rookie camp the same day you did.
I mean in the case of Polk, that that's gonna
be the thing that's gonna Hey, we're all equals here.

(24:38):
He needs to suffer and get his ass kicked, like
I am.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
Come on, that's that's just bad business. That's just bad business.
Like if you.

Speaker 6 (24:45):
Because when they put him in in that disaster against
the Jets, we watched that was was that fair to
Drake may No?

Speaker 1 (24:54):
That was not fair to Drake may No?

Speaker 6 (24:57):
And you watched him when he had that one little
run and then guy's hanging on his leg and he got
absolutely flattened, and for a moment every Patriots fan yelled,
why the hell is he in there? And that was
after a long, long, you know, relief and exasperated sigh
as he laid on the turf for a second and

(25:18):
got his wits back about him.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
So no. I mean, I get it.

Speaker 6 (25:22):
Frustrations there and communication obviously needs to be better, But
I don't think they're doing the wrong thing by any stretch.
And someone's got to be the adult in the room
and tell everybody to R E L A X. We're
gonna suck. And that's the way it goes.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
You want a great hot I'll give you even a
great hot day. This There is part of me, all right,
there's part of me that really thinks when Belichick knew
it's not workable, right, Look, how much does a guy
know about about football what it takes to win in
these Obviously he's been an ultimate winner for the past
twenty five years. When he knew that at A it

(26:01):
wasn't workable, and B he was gonna be let go
that he left this cupboard bear specifically for whoever was
coming after him. He tanked the roster and and and
this is maybe a year or two thing that you
know what, gonna leave the cupboard dry, and and good
luck trying to make this team good. Like I really
there's part of the things I kind of part of

(26:22):
where it's at, right because you know how how bad
it was at the end with with Craft and Belichick
and all this stuff. And you see what he did
when he first made his run, Like I think he was,
he was somewhat re energized after Brady left and you know,
drafted Mac Jones. I thought, I can win with this guy,
and this is gonna be great. But then he watched
Brady win the Super Bowl, and he watched his team
to send into chaos. He could tell they weren't getting

(26:44):
any better. Look at the guys they spent money on,
man John hus Smith and and and and and and
wide receivers aren't even on the team anymore. And I'm
I'm going for Henry and agalaore all these guys, and
what do you do You're spending on all the dere
just guys, Like part of me thinks one he knew, Okay,
We're only going to get so far, and that's it.
I'm gonna tank this roster, and good luck whoever comes

(27:06):
in after me. There is nobody out here that's gonna
be a big time difference maker. Good luck right, because
I saw that he he lost his like he was
no longer Belichick, and the Patriots weren't the Patriots. The
play that really sells it for me was the lateral
against the Raiders, right when they ridiculously On the final
play before it goes to overtime, Ramandre Stevenson tries to

(27:28):
throw the ball all the way back across the field
and it gets intercepted and the Raiders pick it off
and run it in for a touchdown. Like instead of
going overtime, that play happens. To me, that was the
end of the New England Patriots because that was a
play that would never have happened previously. Nobody would have
ever tried that, and if they did, those guys would
be on the bench for weeks. Ramondre Stevenson would be

(27:48):
on the bench for weeks if he did that. You know,
five years before that when Brady was the quarter Are
you kidding? What are you doing? Go to overtime? What
do you mean we're trying to throw the football? To me,
that was the night. That was the game where I
knew Belichick's broken. Like Belichick is broken because they're just
moving on after this and he is just trying to
clock as many wins as he can, but he knows
he's not going to win in New England. He knows

(28:09):
the team is not going to be any good and
if he squeaks out a playoff game or two, he'll
be happy he did. But he knew because now you
look at the fact that the Patriots just didn't go
get anybody, and all the questions that he answered about
why didn't you spend money on anybody in this offseason, Well,
we have to save money this offseason. The next year
we're gonna spend money. Well where is that money? Where

(28:30):
is that money? Like really, if you said if if
you said that to me, I would say, yeah. I
could see him once he knew it wasn't gonna work
and he was gonna have to leave or get fired.
At some point he said, I'm taking this roster down
to the studs, and whoever comes after me, good luck.
You don't want me here, you think I think the
game's passed me by all it? Good luck everybody, good
luck and go.

Speaker 6 (28:48):
It is called the Lunatic lateral from Stevenson to Jakobe Myers,
now a raider who tried to make the throw. So, yeah,
the lunatics take lateral. I just watched it again and
shake my head. The thing about it, though, Jayson like
as much as the roster and I like the argument.
He made himself look like a jackass with all the

(29:09):
offensive coordinator plays. He lost more luster there. Like it's
one thing to say, hey, I built a roster thinking,
you know, hey, I can cobble together a team of
B listers and get him over to show what a
great coach I am. But it was professional malfeasans with
what he was doing. Jones, Right, Jones, it's his fault.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
I bet you. He thought his resume was going to
out last or out do whatever else happened in the
last Cup. His resume all the way up to the
final super Bowl was going to be all that mattered.
And it didn't matter what the last two or three
seasons were. And it mattered a great deal, right, It
mattered a lot to Arthur Blanke, It mattered a lot
to anybody else. Has the game passed you by? Do

(29:54):
you still know what you're doing? Are you in this
or just a few more wins to pass? Don Juler?
What are you doing?

Speaker 5 (29:59):
Like?

Speaker 1 (29:59):
I don't think I think he probably he thought, because
Belichick's got a huge ego, doesn't matter what happens here,
people are gonna I'm gonna explain what happened. We didn't
have the money we spent money here, we did this,
and I'm just everybody's gonna go back and look at
my Super Bowl rings and they're gonna say, yes, come in,
Bill and save us. And I think he thought that
was gonna be the thing that made the difference for him,
and it didn't because people chose, rightfully so to focus

(30:20):
on the last three years of what happened and the
downfall of New England instead of, oh, well, here's what
happened when you had Brady. Well you didn't have Brady.
Look who didn't win? All right? Brady won without you, Right,
he went on somewhere and won that first year without you.
So hey, wait a minute, we need to see some
more of you the last three years. I guarantee you
he overthought that.

Speaker 2 (30:38):

Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven

friend Mike Carmon live from the tirerack dot Com studios,
and we got Pete Futech coming up in about ten minutes.
All the big previews you need for a very weird
and odd and fun day in college football. We have tomorrow.
Plus hey, we've got some big stuff going on tonight.

(31:10):
A couple of big quarterbacks slinging it around. But uh,
we did the madness before. You wanted to start with
the madness. Now we have to get to or you
want to go to the mutiny. Now you have to
get to the madness. You want to mute. We did
the mutiny with the Patriots, and now we get to
the madness. Edgar Allan Poe trended on Twitter most of
the day today, and first of all, it drove me

(31:30):
crazy because it trended with his name spelled wrong. Of course,
Edgar Allan is a L L A N. However, Edgar
Allen a L L E N Poe was what was trending.
And when I first saw it, I'm like, what is
this is someone named Edgar Allan Poe? You know it's
the same guy. Okay, it's October or whatever. No, Edgar
Allan Poe, the writer, not how you spell his name?
Very upset. Tell me, it really upset me that not

(31:54):
only does a trend, but people every trend, so many
people are talking about it, and everybody spells his name wrong.
But haven't we talked about this forever?

Speaker 6 (32:02):
The amount of like if you keep saying something incorrectly
and using it inappropriately, eventually it's shown up in the dictionary.
Same thing here, all right, there's now alternate spelling Stu
a man's name.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
Uh, why was Edgar Allan Poe al with two A's
Edgar Allan Poe trending? Because DeVante Adams just put a
picture of him on his Instagram page. That's it, just
a picture of Edgar Allan Poe. Now, for for a
long time, I thought, Okay, we're gonna find out that's
not Edgar Allan Poe, and it turns out to be
like Alexander Hamilton, like I don't know, But it turns
out it's Edgar Allan Poe. And and I love how

(32:41):
many people were so proud of themselves because right away, oh,
he's going to the Ravens. Edgar Allan Poe wrote the Ravene.
Look at that, I know, and that everybody was so
happy to say, look at me playing internet detective. Yeah,
anybody who's gone to school knows that Edgar Allan Poe
wrote the Ravens. And I'm pretty sure every single person
who saw that. Oh, Devanta Adams posted a picture red

(33:02):
Gralan Poe, and know it thinks it's a reference to
the Ravens. I mean, I'm just saying the raven is
pretty much his most famous poem, like I'll give you
a little bit of Telltale Heart some other stuff. Yeah,
but everybody knows that. So you didn't really do a
lot of work, because it's something that you realize within
the first three seconds of seeing, Oh, Davante Adams has
a picture of Red Garland Poe. He must be going
to the Ravens. Look at the work I have done here.

(33:23):
I've I've done TV detective work. We don't know who
the killer is in the open, and then we play
the smash cut to titles, and the next forty four
minutes of television, I figure out who did it. I
am a great internet detective. I figured out in three seconds.
My work here today is done because I figured out
it's about the Ravens and Edgar Allan Poe and Davante Adams.
Look at me, how smart I am?

Speaker 6 (33:44):
Clearly it's not DeVante Adams just blanking with people. Did
he want to put up a picture of a buffalo wing?
Maybe you know, put up a picture of the Cowardly Lion.
Is he talking about going to the low Irons there?
Is he excited for Wicked and in the extension of
the Wizard of Oz World.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
I don't know, Man, he could have done a lot.
He could have put up a picture of two rams,
you know, bucking heads with each other. Oh they're the Rams. Okay,
that's great, good at anything. Could have done anything. Put
a picture of a Jet playing good at this.

Speaker 6 (34:16):
I would have just gone with the you know, the
other thirty one teams and just kind of gone down
down that road one after another.

Speaker 1 (34:23):
Yes, he's trying to say. I think what he's like.
If he was gonna be a raven like, that's something
that five minutes after he posted it, we would have
found out Davontagne's traded like he was doing that as
a fun thing. Yeah, he's trying to stir stuff up.
He's trying to make stuff happen. Hey, maybe it'll happen
for me getting dealt to the Jets or the Saints.
But if not, If I put the Ravens out there,

(34:45):
oh that could be it. I'd love to go play
with Lamar Jackson. That might be a lot of fun. Okay,
So all it is is now is him just Hey,
I gotta I gotta get my name out there, Gotta
get my name out there and make sure people know
teams that I might want to go to. I want
to make sure people kind of know without knowing. Here's
some teams I'm interested in other than the Jets and
the Saints, because it just might not work out with
either of them. It's going to work out for the

(35:06):
Jets to worry about it, but just in case, let
me throw the Ravens out there, and maybe some other
teams if I need to. Who knows well.

Speaker 6 (35:12):
As we look at it's sports betting dime. The current odds,
the Jets are the slight favorite over the Saints at
the Saints of three to one, Commanders plus five hundred,
along with the Steelers Raiders that he stays at plus
seven hundred Bills plus eight hundred Cowboys plus one thousand
Chiefs plus twelve hundred Ravens plus sixteen hundred. So just

(35:35):
putting it out in the universe it did.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
Work exit out about a Fresca exit swollen dof He's
just creating the market because he's got to create a market.
Panthers going on exit out about a Fresca exit swalling down.
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmon
coming up next. What big time upsets can we expect
in college football over the rest of tonight and tomorrow.
