had to be separated after the next game against the Timberwolves. Yesterday,
the Jets and the Bills, and the Jets just can't
sack Josh Allen. They have him in his grass, they
let him go. He keeps plays alive. That's every single
play for the Bills tonight. Then I go, what am

I worried about? This silliness for it NLC. Yes, it's
time to one game a piece, going back to New York.
I went to the game today with my dad. I
got no time for silliness in Shenanigans. This is what
I have reges tied one apiece. You got to see
the win out of those. Because if you'd gone yesterday, miserable.

Went yesterday and did it today, no I did, you
would have watched today have been like really in the end,
Dad took care of you, got your helmet, nachos, ah wins.

break your back and sure enough there's the Chase Brown touchdown.
Yeah it was, yeahst awful, but but today, I mean chaos.

You got to go to the game.

Oh, send us a picture of you with your loaded
up nachos and you know, here's the thing.

And meeting up with Rob Harker for Yeah. So there

So we'll get to the NFL game coming up in
a second. We'll get to Aaron Rodgers and what's happening.
Jets trail the Bills twenty to seventeen early in the
third quarter. Time out on the field. So my dad
and I go to the game today and it was great,
like you know, and and you know, going with him
was so cool. It was a really great with great idea.
You have a catch. No, we didn't have a catch,
(03:54):
did not not have a catch. But the thing is,
he goes, Okay, I said, all right, the game starts
at one.
Speaker 7 (03:59):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Wait, I said, so you're gonna come pick me up.
We're gonna go to the game, and then you're gonna
drop me off at work after Okay, great, I said,
all right, come over. Like if we leave it like
eleven eleven thirty, we should be fine getting the games
at one thirty. Because he said, I want to get there.
I want to be able to go to the store.
The guy want to get a couple of things. Yeah, sure,
I said, let's go eleven eleven thirty. He's at the
house at ten fifteen. Of course, he says, let's go.

We leave it. We leave it ten a week. At
that point, I had just gotten up. We leave at
ten thirty. We get to the game ten minutes after
they open the gates for everybody. Like it's like one
of those I can't wait to get to the game.
I'm like, all right, we're here. I go, Dad, the
game is in two hours and ten minutes. I go,
we have a lot. He goes, I want to go
to the store. I go, Dad, the game is in
(04:44):
two hours and ten minutes. It's it's all okay. So
we go to So we go to the store. He
goes to the store and you know, he buys a
couple of things. We go to the pavilion area to
eat lunch because now we have plenty of time. And
it was great because we shared our table with a
bunch of different fans came and sat with us. Like,
because we're sitting there for like an hour, becau we
have nothing to do, and so hey, can we come city.
(05:05):
He has to talk with Dodger fans, talk and talk
with Mets fans who came and everything, and it was
but I got to say, is that, you know, And
that was how the day started. And I'm like, I
can't believe we're here so early, but it actually worked
out really great. And and and being there getting to
eat Helmet nachos right away at eleven o'clock in the morning,
you couldn't beat it. And at the end of the day,
not to get all schmaltzy on you, but in the
(05:26):
in the ninth inning, it was really stretchful. Obviously, when
Diez comes in, he gives up a hit and he
walks Otani right, and I'm going, Met, we can't do anything.
We can't do it easy, right, we can't do it easy.
And I'm going, oh my god, I'm thinking I'm glad
we're up for because if he gives up a home
run Hernandez everything else, I'm like, oh my god, you know,
it can never be easy. And there was a point

where where he walks Otani and Otani's going down to
first base and I just look over and I'm standing
next to my dad and I look over and he's
just ah, and he gets really mad look and he
was rooting for the Mets the whole game. Where is
Yankee at though? Of course? And you know, I'm like, Dad, God, Dad,
don't I go, don't worry. But but everybody got even with him, No,
everybody with my dad. I'll play that story too. See
(06:08):
where's the Yankee hat? Right, I'm going, oh my god, dad.
But I look next to him and he was, oh, man,
that was I said, yeah, that was rough. That was rough.
And I sat there and I and I sat there
for a second. I said, you know, if Diaz gives
up a home run here and they give another couple
of runs, like this is a day like I haven't
had a day like this with my dad, and I
don't know if I'll ever have another day like that
(06:29):
with him, where we just he and I went to
the game with both, you know, both loving baseball, going
to It's my first playoff game, my first Mets playoff
game I've ever been to in person, so I've never
been to a Mets playoff game. It's his first playoff
game of any kind that he'd ever been to. Ok
And I just said, you know, if Diaz gives up
a home run, I'm gonna be okay. And then Diaz
struck out the next three and I was like, Okay, good.
(06:51):
Then I thought, boy, would I really have been okay?
What I really have been a game? But but at
that end, in that moment, I was like, you know,
this is and again why you know baseball? I turned
into a twelve year old kid all the time. But
it was really it was. It was just a great moment.
Now juxtapose that with what happened moments before. Okay, this
is my favorite part of the day. So ninth inning,
(07:14):
Mets Dodgers. The Mets are up seven to three, and
it looks like that the Mets are going to win.
Right We're going to the bottom of the ninth inning. Diaz
had struck out, come in and get the strikeout to
end the uh or get the fly out to end
the eighth inning, and so Mets fans have been drinking
most of the day. Dodger fans have been drinking most
of the day. And in my section, guy behind me
(07:34):
is a Mets fan. I talked to him the whole games,
and here, you want to you want you want to
vait with me? I said, Now, I gotta work tonight.
Oh come on, just vapul. I go, no, I can't
kid all right, all right, a right, but that's New
Yorker's right. You meet somebody for five minutes, your best friends.
Sure so, but things are getting a little a little
tense with the back and forth, with everybody yelling at
each other. Course, and I'm going, oh boy, this is
this is, this is going to be something here like
(07:54):
because I want to be able to celebrate when the
Mets win. I know it's going to be weird. And
all of a sudden, everybody's john at each other. I'm going,
this is gonna get out of control. And somebody, somebody
just says, hey, come on, man, let's remember the Yankee
suck and go yeah, And all of a sudden, Mets
and Yankee fans together, Mets and Dodger fans together start
chanting Yankee suck, Yankee suck. It was like when run
(08:17):
dmc and and and Aerosmith did walk this way. It
was like everybody, everybody looked at we can all come here.
You think the world is doomed. I just watched Mets
and Dodgers fans who were at each other's throats sit
there chanting Yankee suck. And of course I'm next to
my dad and he slouches down in his seat. It's
got his yanke. And I stand up next to him
and I point my going Yankee suck, Yankee suck, Yankee
(08:40):
fan yack. That you turned on your old man all
five minutes, all that romanticism about baseball and father's.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
Son moments, it was, but you the violins, all.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Of that five minutes, you turn out.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
You cut him loose so fast?
Speaker 1 (08:56):
No wait, I got one right here, guys, hey, right here,
Look look at yankee Yankees suck. And that was five
minutes before I had that moment with alifd has lets
them go, it's gonna be fine. That was That was
That was the ride, the lightning of the ninth inning
that was going on.
Speaker 5 (09:11):
Well, because it's funny, because that's that anything starts and
my brother text me, he goes, you remember the old
ed farmer, keep it within a slam, right, So it's.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
Only a four run.
Speaker 5 (09:19):
Obviously, the insurance run comes into play, and they even
mentioned it on the telecasts. Smoltz brought it up. But
just that idea of all right, we're gonna get some
anxious moments. But I dig that because we had that
with the Tigers and Guardian there was a great after
that series ended and they're going through the parking lot.
They had similar, similar satisfaction and a come together moment

of it's the world against the Yankees.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Yeah at this point, oh yeah, yeah. Even though they haven't.
Speaker 5 (09:44):
Been the quote unquote evil empire forever, it stays. It's latent, right,
It's like a cicada. It's sitting there and it hasn't
quite been seventeen years. But here we are ready to go.

What can we do? What can bring everybody together? And
hey guys, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it was That was insane.

I got it. I gotta protect my dad, and I

live long, and I've gotta have video footage of that. Wow, hey,
sorry that oh boy, my dad's bleeding from the temples.
But boy, I got a great video we got I

I think people know. I tell the truth on the

He's slunk down like that video of Rogers at at
the end of the game against the the Broncos when
he did that the big gift that went viral where
he's just sliding down his hat that was my dad
just sliding down? Okay, okay, he was he wearing a
hoodie or something where he can cover up. No, he
just he was just wearing a He was just wearing
a No, you could see it. No, no, no, he wears
his Yankee head backwards. I'm like, Dad, you're seventy seven,

you gonna pay Okay, but fine, whatever, that's fine, that's fine.
Just you know, I mean, I don't know.

Just you know, if he's comfortable with it, you know,
run with it.

Yeah. No, that's why I didn't tell. I didn't say
a lot to him. I just say, okay, we're right.

Meanwhile, speaking of Aaron Rodgers, Jets and the Bills, it
is a twenty to seventeen lead for Buffalo. It would
be a twenty one to seventeen lead except for a
missed extra point. Aaron Rodgers having a big night, but
having a much bigger night because final play of the
first half, a fifty two yard hail mary touchdown to
Alan Lazard tell Alan who has a little bit of
(13:03):
a jostling instance with the Bill's defensive back to catch
the football, and it is now a twenty seventeen game.
Breece Hall is going to make it looks like he's
gonna make it a Jets lead, except he's out of
bounds at the three. Finally Breese Hall breaking through. It's
gonna be first and goal for the Jets down twenty
to seventeen.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
He couldn't elude that guy.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Come on now, Rogers, just Rogers, just he has forever
for this hail mary. Look, it's the big viral sensation
right now. You're going to see it one hundred different plays,
just like that. Some some quarterbacks can make better throws
than others when it comes to different things. I can
throw the deep out better, I can throw on the run,
I can throw across my body. Just something about Rogers,
who knows how to throw that hail mary. So it
(13:47):
comes like what it is with him is it comes
straight down, So it's not like it's not like you know,
he throws it so because his arm is so strong,
it's just straight up in the air and when it
comes straight down it's hard to catch. And obviously if
you're allan lizard and you've called it from ballsman for
the past few years, everything is going to be fun.
But like, it's not where it's coming and and the
defensive back and see it, and they can high point
(14:08):
the ball and and they're able to to break up
the play. It's it's so high that when it comes
straight down, it's more of a toss up and lizard
kind of just just like sticks to his body when
he catches it and he goes down and hits the
ground and the bills. There was no like if you
can box a guy out and you know where that
ball is coming down, you're going to catch. It's like
catching a punt. So it really is just amazing. He

can throw a ball like that and have it and
have it come down in such a way where the
the the DB's are. It's not our advantage that it
that it is normally in knocking that ball down. Yeah,
fourth hail Mary touchdown of his career, if memory serves
off the telecast, and and certainly the decision to rush
one was dubious. Man, I know you want to get

up touchdown canty yards right now. We have arguments you
and I off air about you know, three or four
quarterbacks that may not be able to throw it that
far right now, But you give any other quarterback in
the NFL time. They may not throw the pretty arcing
ball that comes down that way, but everybody's gonna give

the big play is Aaron Rodgers hail Mary at the
end of the first half. And we've seen him do
this now a couple of times. Is it just that
he can he can throw the football so it comes
straight down instead of and it's harder to high point
like he's got to. I mean, this is a skill,
the way he can throw the football up and turn

it into a real jump all situation.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
I guess. I mean, it's not something I've spent a
whole lot of time thinking about. I have no idea.
I mean, I think the Bills, obviously we're defending the
boundary because they thought they were going to try to
take a shot to move into field goal range, and
then I guess there's a little bit of a scrambled
drill back there, and nobody got you know, position in
front of Wizard Like I he's surrounded by Bill's defensive
(19:22):
backs the roll behind him. So I don't know, you know,
I don't know if that's Aaron Rodgers or not. I
think it's just kind of dumb luck. I don't think
he has any secrets offts. I think he's had some
pretty good receivers in the past who made some plays
for him. And I think he's just trying to throw
the ball into the end zone as hard as you can.
I mean, if he's got to figure it out, good
for him. But h I just I think, you know,
(19:45):
I think that plays it's literally called the jump ball,
right like it's you're hoping, you're hoping something good happens.
But I don't know if there's a whole lot of
you know, physics involved.

Now, Jason alluded to maybe maybe you were jawing with Sirianni.
Maybe you weren't, but a lot coming off of the
twenty sixteen win over the Browns, the schedule opens up
quite nicely, but you know the old adage mister lockinbor was,
never let him see you sweat what's going on there?

Oh he's well, he's got issues. I mean, the good
news is they got their receivers back and they each
made a big play. But you know the bad news
is that was about the extent of their offense against
a really bad football team, a team that they couldn't
really distance themselves from or put away. Despite the fact
that the Cleveland Browns like or systematically opposed to like,
(20:38):
they don't play offense like they don't believe in it.
You know, they don't. They don't want to convert their downs.
They don't want to play their best quarterback like, they
don't want to have a downfield pass he game like,
Like I just looked it up to Shauan Watson first
half passing. He averages sixty eight yards a game in
the first half. I mean, what planning them? I like
(21:00):
it just that wouldn't be good in high school. I mean,
this is averages sixty eight yards through the air for
first half. We're six weeks into this thing.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
I mean this, this is hasslum telling telling you'd have
to play him, right. I mean, there's no there's no
way Kevin Stefanci can still meet everybody and say, hey,
he still good. I mean, how does he do that
unless he's told, yeah, you're playing. And because I'm paying
him all this.
Speaker 4 (21:23):
Money, I mean, why is he Why is he firing
his offensive coordinator and getting Joe Flacco out of the
building If this wasn't about Deshaun Watson. I mean, of course,
the whole thing's about Deshaun Watson. I mean, they had
a real offense. They had they had the best downfield
passing offense in the NFL for six weeks with this
other guy, and they couldn't wait to run him out
of the building, like come on, come on. So yeah,
(21:48):
but as for the Eagles, they're in trouble, man, Like
the fansie is not the answer in terms of, you know,
shoring up their defense. Their draft picks have not hit lately.
Being able quarterback is kind of kind of reached apparently
a high watermark. And you know, that's a really bad division,
(22:12):
but it's not horrible. And like I mean, I think,
like the Giants better than them, maybe, like I don't know,
like I I mean, Washington I think certainly is you know,
I just think that they're gonna come up. They're gonna
up coming up a little small. I think.

spent on two guys and that's about any It's a
bad roster.

It's a poorly constructed team. They've allowed the offensive line
to fall into disrepair. And you know, it's a really
top heavy, heavy defensive line that's got a couple of
guys who can rush the passer, but it is not
built to stop the run whatsoever. I thought they would
get completely railroaded by that two headed monster on the
ground and then it just sets up play action and

you can pick them apart really however you want. You know, offensively,
you knew he was going to force feed seed Land
because Land was pissed off the week before, and you
knew some of those routes would probably get jumped. And that,
you know, the other team is a pretty good idea
of what their offense is. Right, They throw of the
tright end a little, and they sort of the slot
receiver a lot like. That's it not. You know, there's

no like unbelievable ideas anything innovative with motion or pre
snap stuff. They're front runner and now they don't have
leads anymore. So there's in a lot of trouble, you know.
I again, that division, a lot of teams have problems.

It's hard to say who's worse than whom or what.
But I don't think the Cowboys are good at very
much when it comes to football, all.

Right, Jay, lastly, let's sold from the teams that are
underachieving to I understand they lost the first week to
Kansas City. You had some dubious officiating. But I'll tell
you what right now, especially you know, seeing what they
did yesterday being able to win, what are the Ravens
the best team in the AFCO?
Speaker 4 (24:41):
They might be. I mean it's it's a super elead offense,
that's for sure. Defensively, they still got things they need
to sort out. You know, they brought Temps back last week.
That was a good step towards realizing they've got some problems.
You know, the past defense still gives me a lot
of pauls, but the run defense isn't. Everybody's got warts
and halls. Lamar Jackson is playing the best football of

his career. I mean they are. They are absolutely gutting people,
and they're they're making you pick your poison and whatever
you try to sell out to stop. They've got a
couple of other things that they can do really well
that you're probably don't have the right personnel on the
field to defend. So yeah, I mean they're rolling the

speed interesting game at Tampa. Like, I don't think it's
going to be an easy game for them. I think
Tampa's assortment of slot body types between big tight ends
and smaller receivers, there's going to be trouble for them.
Baker Mayfield extending plays thrown in the middle of the field,
There's going to be trouble for them. I love the
over in that game. But yeah, the Ravens. The Ravens

are a hell of a football team. They see They've
gotten their offensive line sorted out, and that defense I
think will get better as the season goes on.

That's an interesting thought that that really was tough to
watch yesterday. I mean, what that young man was doing.
I mean, he really was taking it to another level.
And I thought the most dominant defensive player in the
NFL the first six weeks of this season. I mean,

make an interesting thought, Max Crosby. I mean, I don't
know that there's going to be a ton of other
pass rush available or even you know, if they if
they do trade him, that would be something if if
that happened, but they'd be the number one, they'd be
number one of my tower rankings. And I'm just trying

to figure of some really bad teams off the top
of my head. Like, you know, the Browns aren't on
trade Mollcarett. You know, Jacksonville doesn't have a whole lot
and what they have from past rust standpoint, I don't
think they want to give up on yet. The Giants
are loaded with them, and I don't think they're training
any of them. That's the strength of their team. It'll
probably be the strength of their rebuilt once they get

a real quarterback. Yeah, it'd be quite a sweepstakes from
maxter Olsby, that's for sure.

To give you an update from this game, the Jets
look like they'll be kicking a field goal to attempt
to take the lead. They had scored a touchdown. Braylan
Allen goes in from two yards out. However, holding penalty
on Tyron Smith takes it back. Aaron Rodgers then throws
a pretty good pass into the end zone, but a
little late to Garrett Wilson, who gets absolutely crunched between

two defenders. Legal hit nothing leading with a helmet. It
was just it was a hospital ball like Rogers. Rogers
just in a bad spot. Needed to throw with a
little bit more oomph on that ball, and Garrett Wilson
has it, but gets hit really hard, drops the ball.
They had to go to commercial. He was on the ground. However,

he has just gotten up and jogged off the field.
Jets will be attempting a field goal to take a
twenty three to twenty lead. So good to see Garrett
Wilson having a big night. Finally, look, hey, guess what
last couple of weeks you throw the ball at Garrett Wilson,

leading five to two over the Cleveland Guardians. Two outs

been spectacular since he became the Yankee closer. Carlos rode

one run aloud, nine strikeouts, no walks. Yankees on the

The New York Mets are tied with the Dodgers at

And the gamesmanship and obviously followed one off that he
was smarting from. But to take the full time, yeah,

already clocked him. And now I'm rewinding in my head
because what was that the ninth pitch or ten pitch bat?
So it was the all right, I'm gonna go rewind
while I recover for these fifteen cent I'm watching him limp,

sitting like through us behind me goes, by the sixth inning,
we're gonna be the only ones left who could own

Look after the game, Viento said, look, I use that
as motivation because I took it personally that they were
walking Francisco Lindor to get to me. And now, look,
let's be honest. I love that. Whatever you need to motivate,
you go ahead and use it. But let's be honest.
Do you really think was second and third and first
base empty? H That was a bad decision. No one's
going to pitch to Francisco land door. Nobody is. You

could have shoey o'tani with a fully stocked right arm
and a fully stocked left arm, and they're not pitching
a Lindor in that's s su way. They're gonna put
him on first base. Of course they're gonna do that.
They're gonna put it on to put the force on
with two outs, and they're gonna pitch to a guy
who's not a guy who's gonna win. The second play
been finished second unanimously for the MVP. As hot as

Mark Viento's has been in the playoffs, of course they
were gonna do that.

Yeah, he's been fantastic, no question about it. But it
gets him mimable because the home runs huge. But this
takes it to a whole other level, right because now
we add the Jordan memes and whatever else. So it
gets a second life because the homer in itself is great,
but the way that game ended up getting, let's face it,
it tightened up a little bit in the ninth inning
once your gyda has put those first two runners on,

and then he made pitch after pitch after pitch to
finish it out. But anxious moments. We're gonna talk more
about that and Dave Roberts' pitching decisions than Viento's home
home run.

looking up because the wind socks are hanging straight down right.
We had all of the talk coming into the game
wind advisories, right, that was all over the place, like
if it was really that windy, or they now tied

down because otherwise they'd be flying and flapping.

In the breeze. But uh, yeah, just a couple of miserable.

It was almost like he was playing the game you
do when you go all right, we're gonna play the

Wats this? And meanwhile, look like the Jets are gonna
hold the Bills to a field goal. Ever, Jevon Kinlaw
gets called for roughing Josh Allen after an incomplete pass
on a Buffalo has first and goal from the nine
yard line, where a touchdown would really make it a
tough go for the Jets to try to get down
the field, who have not been able to get down
the field at all since Aaron Rodgers Hail Mary and

taken it over. There have been ridiculous calls on both teams.
It's been it's like every every time there's a play,
if you are as their flag, like it's one of
those times, like I'm looking for a flag after every
single play. And that's not how the NFL Wan, that's

the personal foul penalty that went on. It's like, well,
the ball's not been released yet, is he not just
finishing a block at that point?

Letter of the law, spirit of the law, all of that.

But it just makes it a very difficult watch at times,
like all right, what it constitutes a legal contact in
the secondary on both sides. And we've seen a lot
of former athletes chiming in, like in a big way.
I don't know that everybody's sat at the keyboard like
they are to.

Meanwhile, speaking of wanting to sit at the keyboard and
say things. Yeah, there is criticizing a team, there's criticizing
a coach, and then there's going full scorched earth, which
is what Bill Belichick did a few moments ago on
the Manning Cast with Peyton and Eli talking about the
New York Jets franchise. Obviously, the Jets are playing this game,

first game since firing Robert Sala, and you know Belichick
who doesn't like the Jets, not only from his rivalry
with the team the last twenty years, but he resigned
as head coach of the Jets. He doesn't like Woody Johnson,
he hates Woody Johnson, the owner of the Jets.

But he might need to do a little more of
the history lesson on that.
Speaker 5 (43:41):
As a Jets fan, because I think a lot of
our audience doesn't recognize that he was actually the Jets coach.
Speaker 1 (43:47):
Yeah briefly, Yeah, no, no. When Bill Parcells retired in
two thousand, Bill Belichick was named head coach of the
Jets and then resigned at the press conference and passed
a note saying I resign as HC of the nyj
and then went on to go become the head coach
in New England and build a dynasty. He's asked about it,

he talks about it on the Manning cast, and he
also takes a moment to light the Jets franchise up.

That's kind of what it's been there at the Jets.
You know, barely won over thirty percent in the last
ten years, so you know the owner being the owner,
just ready fire aim.

But Bill you mentioned I mean in ninety nine you
were the DC for the Jets. Parcelf is the head coach.
He stepped down and you replaced him for a day
before resigning. We have a recreation of your resignation letter

talked about what went on that that turned him into

Yes he hates the Jets. Yes, he hates Woody Johnson.
If the Jets called him tomorrow, if they said we

I know that all the rumors with him and the
Cowboys are gonna go crazy because the Cowboys are terrible.

called him, because he knows that he doesn't have any
real cachet anymore. And if he gets back into the
league somehow, it's incredibly lucky and he and if they
called again. That's why if they called him tomorrow and

show up Jets hat, hoodie, sleeves cut off. Here's my

I'll go out coach. He would coach the Jets tomorrow.

say Thanksgiving happens, he will offer the job to Belichick
to coach the rest of the season. He's not gonna

learn the players, learn everything going on, and then you'll
hit the ground running next year. And Belichick will say, okay,
because maybe I can get three wins closer to Don Chulo.
Who knows how it's gonna go, right, I'll get three

they got to fall out of it, right, it's got
to be where the Cowboys are. You know, you're talking
about getting to Thanksgiving, you know, four games under five hundred.

and they fall he will not sit here and have
the Cowboys go anonymously. He's not gonna go fight for

they scored their first touchdown on Thanksgiving, does he go

something and he's not gonna want to fight for Bill Belichicka.

he will go to. And Belichick's gonna have to say yes,
because Okay, where else do you want to coach besides Dallas?

You have Dallas, you can get close. Look, we know
you want to get close to Shula. Right, this is
not a rebuild. He's not gonna be hires a coaching
to rebuild. As much as Belichick seems like he's an
attractive candidate, now there's only a couple of teams that
he'll be able to go with, because he's gotta go
with teams that are quote ready to wait away. Now
you can't. They're not gonna They're not gonna charge him with, Hey,

rebuild a team. We just watch you tear the Patrons
down to the studs and they're terrible. So it would
have to be one. And so all of a sudden,
you think, oh, there's gonna be some teams. Well, he's
not gonna go to Jacksonville, right, He's not gonna go.
It's gotta be okay. There's only a couple of teams
out there. The Giants look like maybe not right, they're
playing a little bit better, but he's kind of holding
out hope for a Cup. But the Giants have a
lot of talent, So yeah, and go coaching in New York.

But they really aren't any good. So the cowboy come up,
all right, I have my quarterback and my star wide receiver.
I have a star defensive player. I'll get a couple
more wins. We'll win two more games, all right, he
will say yes, I'll say sorry, Pat McAfee. I was
entertaining and laughing as much as I could, but now
I got to go be a head coach again.

I went to the game today with my dad. I
got no time for silliness in Shenanigans. This is what

Jets trail the Bills twenty to seventeen early in the
third quarter. Time out on the field. So my dad
and I go to the game today and it was great,
like you know, and and you know, going with him
was so cool. It was a really great with great idea.
You have a catch. No, we didn't have a catch,

did not not have a catch. But the thing is,
he goes, Okay, I said, all right, the game starts
at one.
Speaker 7 (03:59):

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Wait, I said, so you're gonna come pick me up.
We're gonna go to the game, and then you're gonna
drop me off at work after Okay, great, I said,
all right, come over. Like if we leave it like
eleven eleven thirty, we should be fine getting the games
at one thirty. Because he said, I want to get there.
I want to be able to go to the store.
The guy want to get a couple of things. Yeah, sure,
I said, let's go eleven eleven thirty. He's at the
house at ten fifteen. Of course, he says, let's go.

We leave it. We leave it ten a week. At
that point, I had just gotten up. We leave at
ten thirty. We get to the game ten minutes after
they open the gates for everybody. Like it's like one
of those I can't wait to get to the game.
I'm like, all right, we're here. I go, Dad, the
game is in two hours and ten minutes. I go,
we have a lot. He goes, I want to go
to the store. I go, Dad, the game is in
(04:44):
two hours and ten minutes. It's it's all okay. So
we go to So we go to the store. He
goes to the store and you know, he buys a
couple of things. We go to the pavilion area to
eat lunch because now we have plenty of time. And
it was great because we shared our table with a
bunch of different fans came and sat with us. Like,
because we're sitting there for like an hour, becau we
have nothing to do, and so hey, can we come city.
(05:05):
He has to talk with Dodger fans, talk and talk
with Mets fans who came and everything, and it was
but I got to say, is that, you know, And
that was how the day started. And I'm like, I
can't believe we're here so early, but it actually worked
out really great. And and and being there getting to
eat Helmet nachos right away at eleven o'clock in the morning,
you couldn't beat it. And at the end of the day,
not to get all schmaltzy on you, but in the
(05:26):
in the ninth inning, it was really stretchful. Obviously, when
Diez comes in, he gives up a hit and he
walks Otani right, and I'm going, Met, we can't do anything.
We can't do it easy, right, we can't do it easy.
And I'm going, oh my god, I'm thinking I'm glad
we're up for because if he gives up a home
run Hernandez everything else, I'm like, oh my god, you know,
it can never be easy. And there was a point
(05:47):
where where he walks Otani and Otani's going down to
first base and I just look over and I'm standing
next to my dad and I look over and he's
just ah, and he gets really mad look and he
was rooting for the Mets the whole game. Where is
Yankee at though? Of course? And you know, I'm like, Dad, God, Dad,
don't I go, don't worry. But but everybody got even with him, No,
everybody with my dad. I'll play that story too. See
(06:08):
where's the Yankee hat? Right, I'm going, oh my god, dad.
But I look next to him and he was, oh, man,
that was I said, yeah, that was rough. That was rough.
And I sat there and I and I sat there
for a second. I said, you know, if Diaz gives
up a home run here and they give another couple
of runs, like this is a day like I haven't
had a day like this with my dad, and I
don't know if I'll ever have another day like that
(06:29):
with him, where we just he and I went to
the game with both, you know, both loving baseball, going
to It's my first playoff game, my first Mets playoff
game I've ever been to in person, so I've never
been to a Mets playoff game. It's his first playoff
game of any kind that he'd ever been to. Ok
And I just said, you know, if Diaz gives up
a home run, I'm gonna be okay. And then Diaz
struck out the next three and I was like, Okay, good.
(06:51):
Then I thought, boy, would I really have been okay?
What I really have been a game? But but at
that end, in that moment, I was like, you know,
this is and again why you know baseball? I turned
into a twelve year old kid all the time. But
it was really it was. It was just a great moment.
Now juxtapose that with what happened moments before. Okay, this
is my favorite part of the day. So ninth inning,
(07:14):
Mets Dodgers. The Mets are up seven to three, and
it looks like that the Mets are going to win.
Right We're going to the bottom of the ninth inning. Diaz
had struck out, come in and get the strikeout to
end the uh or get the fly out to end
the eighth inning, and so Mets fans have been drinking
most of the day. Dodger fans have been drinking most
of the day. And in my section, guy behind me
(07:34):
is a Mets fan. I talked to him the whole games,
and here, you want to you want you want to
vait with me? I said, Now, I gotta work tonight.
Oh come on, just vapul. I go, no, I can't
kid all right, all right, a right, but that's New
Yorker's right. You meet somebody for five minutes, your best friends.
Sure so, but things are getting a little a little
tense with the back and forth, with everybody yelling at
each other. Course, and I'm going, oh boy, this is
this is, this is going to be something here like
(07:54):
because I want to be able to celebrate when the
Mets win. I know it's going to be weird. And
all of a sudden, everybody's john at each other. I'm going,
this is gonna get out of control. And somebody, somebody
just says, hey, come on, man, let's remember the Yankee
suck and go yeah, And all of a sudden, Mets
and Yankee fans together, Mets and Dodger fans together start
chanting Yankee suck, Yankee suck. It was like when run
(08:17):
dmc and and and Aerosmith did walk this way. It
was like everybody, everybody looked at we can all come here.
You think the world is doomed. I just watched Mets
and Dodgers fans who were at each other's throats sit
there chanting Yankee suck. And of course I'm next to
my dad and he slouches down in his seat. It's
got his yanke. And I stand up next to him
and I point my going Yankee suck, Yankee suck, Yankee
(08:40):
fan yack. That you turned on your old man all
five minutes, all that romanticism about baseball and father's.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
Son moments, it was, but you the violins, all.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Of that five minutes, you turn out.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
You cut him loose so fast?
Speaker 1 (08:56):
No wait, I got one right here, guys, hey, right here,
Look look at yankee Yankees suck. And that was five
minutes before I had that moment with alifd has lets
them go, it's gonna be fine. That was That was
That was the ride, the lightning of the ninth inning
that was going on.
Speaker 5 (09:11):
Well, because it's funny, because that's that anything starts and
my brother text me, he goes, you remember the old
ed farmer, keep it within a slam, right, So it's.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
Only a four run.

Obviously, the insurance run comes into play, and they even
mentioned it on the telecasts. Smoltz brought it up. But
just that idea of all right, we're gonna get some
anxious moments. But I dig that because we had that
with the Tigers and Guardian there was a great after
that series ended and they're going through the parking lot.
They had similar, similar satisfaction and a come together moment

of it's the world against the Yankees.

Yeah at this point, oh yeah, yeah. Even though they haven't.

Been the quote unquote evil empire forever, it stays. It's latent, right,

a No, you could see it. No, no, no, he wears
his Yankee head backwards. I'm like, Dad, you're seventy seven,

Meanwhile, speaking of Aaron Rodgers, Jets and the Bills, it
is a twenty to seventeen lead for Buffalo. It would
be a twenty one to seventeen lead except for a
missed extra point. Aaron Rodgers having a big night, but
having a much bigger night because final play of the
first half, a fifty two yard hail mary touchdown to
Alan Lazard tell Alan who has a little bit of

a jostling instance with the Bill's defensive back to catch
the football, and it is now a twenty seventeen game.
Breece Hall is going to make it looks like he's
gonna make it a Jets lead, except he's out of
bounds at the three. Finally Breese Hall breaking through. It's
gonna be first and goal for the Jets down twenty
to seventeen.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
He couldn't elude that guy.

Come on now, Rogers, just Rogers, just he has forever
for this hail mary. Look, it's the big viral sensation
right now. You're going to see it one hundred different plays,
just like that. Some some quarterbacks can make better throws
than others when it comes to different things. I can
throw the deep out better, I can throw on the run,
I can throw across my body. Just something about Rogers,
who knows how to throw that hail mary. So it
(13:47):
comes like what it is with him is it comes
straight down, So it's not like it's not like you know,
he throws it so because his arm is so strong,
it's just straight up in the air and when it
comes straight down it's hard to catch. And obviously if
you're allan lizard and you've called it from ballsman for
the past few years, everything is going to be fun.
But like, it's not where it's coming and and the
defensive back and see it, and they can high point
(14:08):
the ball and and they're able to to break up
the play. It's it's so high that when it comes
straight down, it's more of a toss up and lizard
kind of just just like sticks to his body when
he catches it and he goes down and hits the
ground and the bills. There was no like if you
can box a guy out and you know where that
ball is coming down, you're going to catch. It's like
catching a punt. So it really is just amazing. He

can throw a ball like that and have it and
have it come down in such a way where the
the the DB's are. It's not our advantage that it
that it is normally in knocking that ball down. Yeah,
fourth hail Mary touchdown of his career, if memory serves
off the telecast, and and certainly the decision to rush

this now a couple of times. Is it just that

straight down instead of and it's harder to high point
like he's got to. I mean, this is a skill,
the way he can throw the football up and turn

it into a real jump all situation.

I guess. I mean, it's not something I've spent a
whole lot of time thinking about. I have no idea.
I mean, I think the Bills, obviously we're defending the
boundary because they thought they were going to try to
take a shot to move into field goal range, and
then I guess there's a little bit of a scrambled
drill back there, and nobody got you know, position in
front of Wizard Like I he's surrounded by Bill's defensive

backs the roll behind him. So I don't know, you know,
I don't know if that's Aaron Rodgers or not. I
think it's just kind of dumb luck. I don't think
he has any secrets offts. I think he's had some
pretty good receivers in the past who made some plays
for him. And I think he's just trying to throw
the ball into the end zone as hard as you can.
I mean, if he's got to figure it out, good
for him. But h I just I think, you know,

I think that plays it's literally called the jump ball,
right like it's you're hoping, you're hoping something good happens.
But I don't know if there's a whole lot of
you know, physics involved.

Now, Jason alluded to maybe maybe you were jawing with Sirianni.
Maybe you weren't, but a lot coming off of the
twenty sixteen win over the Browns, the schedule opens up
quite nicely, but you know the old adage mister lockinbor was,
never let him see you sweat what's going on there?

Oh he's well, he's got issues. I mean, the good
news is they got their receivers back and they each
made a big play. But you know the bad news
is that was about the extent of their offense against
a really bad football team, a team that they couldn't
really distance themselves from or put away. Despite the fact
that the Cleveland Browns like or systematically opposed to like,

they don't play offense like they don't believe in it.
You know, they don't. They don't want to convert their downs.
They don't want to play their best quarterback like, they
don't want to have a downfield pass he game like,
Like I just looked it up to Shauan Watson first
half passing. He averages sixty eight yards a game in
the first half. I mean, what planning them? I like

it just that wouldn't be good in high school. I mean,
this is averages sixty eight yards through the air for
first half. We're six weeks into this thing.

I mean this, this is hasslum telling telling you'd have
to play him, right. I mean, there's no there's no
way Kevin Stefanci can still meet everybody and say, hey,
he still good. I mean, how does he do that
unless he's told, yeah, you're playing. And because I'm paying
him all this.
Speaker 4 (21:23):
Money, I mean, why is he Why is he firing
his offensive coordinator and getting Joe Flacco out of the
building If this wasn't about Deshaun Watson. I mean, of course,
the whole thing's about Deshaun Watson. I mean, they had
a real offense. They had they had the best downfield
passing offense in the NFL for six weeks with this
other guy, and they couldn't wait to run him out
of the building, like come on, come on. So yeah,

but as for the Eagles, they're in trouble, man, Like
the fansie is not the answer in terms of, you know,
shoring up their defense. Their draft picks have not hit lately.
Being able quarterback is kind of kind of reached apparently
a high watermark. And you know, that's a really bad division,

but it's not horrible. And like I mean, I think,
like the Giants better than them, maybe, like I don't know,
like I I mean, Washington I think certainly is you know,
I just think that they're gonna come up. They're gonna
up coming up a little small. I think.

bad roster.

It's a poorly constructed team. They've allowed the offensive line
to fall into disrepair. And you know, it's a really
top heavy, heavy defensive line that's got a couple of
guys who can rush the passer, but it is not
built to stop the run whatsoever. I thought they would
get completely railroaded by that two headed monster on the
ground and then it just sets up play action and

you can pick them apart really however you want. You know, offensively,
you knew he was going to force feed seed Land
because Land was pissed off the week before, and you
knew some of those routes would probably get jumped. And that,
you know, the other team is a pretty good idea
of what their offense is. Right, They throw of the
tright end a little, and they sort of the slot
receiver a lot like. That's it not. You know, there's

no like unbelievable ideas anything innovative with motion or pre
snap stuff. They're front runner and now they don't have
leads anymore. So there's in a lot of trouble, you know.
I again, that division, a lot of teams have problems.

It's hard to say who's worse than whom or what.
But I don't think the Cowboys are good at very
much when it comes to football, all.

Right, Jay, lastly, let's sold from the teams that are
underachieving to I understand they lost the first week to
Kansas City. You had some dubious officiating. But I'll tell
you what right now, especially you know, seeing what they
did yesterday being able to win, what are the Ravens
the best team in the AFCO?
Speaker 4 (24:41):
They might be. I mean it's it's a super elead offense,
that's for sure. Defensively, they still got things they need
to sort out. You know, they brought Temps back last week.
That was a good step towards realizing they've got some problems.
You know, the past defense still gives me a lot
of pauls, but the run defense isn't. Everybody's got warts
and halls. Lamar Jackson is playing the best football of

his career. I mean they are. They are absolutely gutting people,
and they're they're making you pick your poison and whatever
you try to sell out to stop. They've got a
couple of other things that they can do really well
that you're probably don't have the right personnel on the
field to defend. So yeah, I mean they're rolling the
(25:24):
speed interesting game at Tampa. Like, I don't think it's
going to be an easy game for them. I think
Tampa's assortment of slot body types between big tight ends
and smaller receivers, there's going to be trouble for them.
Baker Mayfield extending plays thrown in the middle of the field,
There's going to be trouble for them. I love the
over in that game. But yeah, the Ravens. The Ravens

are a hell of a football team. They see They've
gotten their offensive line sorted out, and that defense I
think will get better as the season goes on.

Jason, lastly, one over the top. Detroit beats the hell
out of Dallas?

You even go find Max Crosby and him in with

That's an interesting thought that that really was tough to
watch yesterday. I mean, what that young man was doing.
I mean, he really was taking it to another level.
And I thought the most dominant defensive player in the
NFL the first six weeks of this season. I mean,

make an interesting thought, Max Crosby. I mean, I don't
know that there's going to be a ton of other
pass rush available or even you know, if they if
they do trade him, that would be something if if
that happened, but they'd be the number one, they'd be
number one of my tower rankings. And I'm just trying

to figure of some really bad teams off the top
of my head. Like, you know, the Browns aren't on
trade Mollcarett. You know, Jacksonville doesn't have a whole lot
and what they have from past rust standpoint, I don't
think they want to give up on yet. The Giants
are loaded with them, and I don't think they're training
any of them. That's the strength of their team. It'll
probably be the strength of their rebuilt once they get

a real quarterback. Yeah, it'd be quite a sweepstakes from
maxter Olsby, that's for sure.

To give you an update from this game, the Jets
look like they'll be kicking a field goal to attempt
to take the lead. They had scored a touchdown. Braylan
Allen goes in from two yards out. However, holding penalty
on Tyron Smith takes it back. Aaron Rodgers then throws
a pretty good pass into the end zone, but a
little late to Garrett Wilson, who gets absolutely crunched between

two defenders. Legal hit nothing leading with a helmet. It
was just it was a hospital ball like Rogers. Rogers
just in a bad spot. Needed to throw with a
little bit more oomph on that ball, and Garrett Wilson
has it, but gets hit really hard, drops the ball.
They had to go to commercial. He was on the ground. However,

he has just gotten up and jogged off the field.
Jets will be attempting a field goal to take a
twenty three to twenty lead. So good to see Garrett
Wilson having a big night. Finally, look, hey, guess what
last couple of weeks you throw the ball at Garrett Wilson,

Well, don't get a pass rush, so even your suspect

at windy Yankee Stadium, it's New York in the ninth
leading five to two over the Cleveland Guardians. Two outs

been spectacular since he became the Yankee closer. Carlos rode
On was spectacular as the starter tonight. Regular season, he

one run aloud, nine strikeouts, no walks. Yankees on the

The New York Mets are tied with the Dodgers at

was smarting from. But to take the full time, yeah,

already clocked him. And now I'm rewinding in my head
because what was that the ninth pitch or ten pitch bat?
So it was the all right, I'm gonna go rewind
while I recover for these fifteen cent I'm watching him limp,

sitting like through us behind me goes, by the sixth inning,
we're gonna be the only ones left who could own
a stadium in sixth inning?

Right, and at our house, now plant a flag.

Look after the game, Viento said, look, I use that
as motivation because I took it personally that they were
walking Francisco Lindor to get to me. And now, look,
let's be honest. I love that. Whatever you need to motivate,
you go ahead and use it. But let's be honest.
Do you really think was second and third and first
base empty? H That was a bad decision. No one's
going to pitch to Francisco land door. Nobody is. You
(39:00):
could have shoey o'tani with a fully stocked right arm
and a fully stocked left arm, and they're not pitching
a Lindor in that's s su way. They're gonna put
him on first base. Of course they're gonna do that.
They're gonna put it on to put the force on
with two outs, and they're gonna pitch to a guy
who's not a guy who's gonna win. The second play
been finished second unanimously for the MVP. As hot as

Mark Viento's has been in the playoffs, of course they
were gonna do that.

Yeah, he's been fantastic, no question about it. But it
gets him mimable because the home runs huge. But this
takes it to a whole other level, right because now
we add the Jordan memes and whatever else. So it
gets a second life because the homer in itself is great,
but the way that game ended up getting, let's face it,
it tightened up a little bit in the ninth inning
once your gyda has put those first two runners on,

and then he made pitch after pitch after pitch to
finish it out. But anxious moments. We're gonna talk more
about that and Dave Roberts' pitching decisions than Viento's home
home run.

as head coach of the Jets. He doesn't like Woody Johnson,
he hates Woody Johnson, the owner of the Jets.

But he might need to do a little more of
the history lesson on that.

As a Jets fan, because I think a lot of
our audience doesn't recognize that he was actually the Jets coach.

two thousand, Bill Belichick was named head coach of the
Jets and then resigned at the press conference and passed
a note saying I resign as HC of the nyj
and then went on to go become the head coach

also takes a moment to light the Jets franchise up.

That's kind of what it's been there at the Jets.

real cachet anymore. And if he gets back into the

say Thanksgiving happens, he will offer the job to Belichick
to coach the rest of the season. He's not gonna

you want to get close to Shula. Right, this is
not a rebuild. He's not gonna be hires a coaching

attractive candidate, now there's only a couple of teams that

out there. The Giants look like maybe not right, they're
playing a little bit better, but he's kind of holding
out hope for a Cup. But the Giants have a
lot of talent, So yeah, and go coaching in New York.
