Speaker 1 (00:30):

is the way tire buying should be well. Obviously, today

(00:54):
was a huge day and night said quiet day, no
you today. But I have to say this because the
the inner coach in me is coming out. It is painful,
painful watching the Guardians. These first two games of the
ALCS just throw up on themselves defensively, the wild pitches

(01:15):
in Game one, the errors tonight. It's it's really difficult
to watch.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
That bobble babble in right field after the Rizzo double.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Then he's gonna go.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
He should probably shouldn't have been held up to begin with,
so they got a gift, and then trying to pick
the ball up with his bare hand bobbles and it's like,
all right, go walk home now it is wow.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
It's just it's one after another. Like I thought, Game one.
After the wild pitches, okay, that that's really difficult. Anytime
you watch a pitcher have that many wild pitches, you
wonder about them mentally, where they are. That's that's a tough,
tough way. But then tonight you start off dropping the
fly ball run scores and now this errors put another
run on the board. Like this is this is painful

(01:57):
to watch. This is where I would say, I would
hey the Curls after the game, all right, don't even
bring your bats the next practice. Don't even bring your bats.
We're not gonna hit. We're not not don't even bring
your bats. Just get ready, get ready. We're gonna we're
gonna run, and then we're gonna field, and we're gonna
be in the field again, and then we're gonna run
again and it wouldn't be it's punished. It would just
be we're gonna run to warm up, and then we're

(02:17):
gonna be in the field for the entire practice. Just
bring your gloves, don't you. No, no, don't don't bring
your bats. Don't bring no, no, no, no, no, no no. I'm
not gonna change my mind. Now, don't bring your bats.
We're just gonna be in the field.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
Now, see, because if you give them the conditioning extra,
they'll remember it and they'll be in better shape for
the next time they have to go first.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Yeah, softball, you do you can run. What do you need?
It's not it's not a it's that's why I like
baseball so much. I don't have to run before. Like football,
you had to run so much like it. Hated it.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
But this is a tough thing, right is that you
talked about being at the game yesterday and the excitement
and all the people around kind of asking dopey questions.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
The lady that asks is done. We wait again. Then
we go to the World Series. And I said, yes,
if they win, you have the World Series, you play
the Yankees, you beat them, you play the Guardians. That's
hout works.

Speaker 4 (03:05):
I have no doubts people watching the first two games
of this series. Maybe they're starting to date, maybe significant
others that got sucked in because you know, the Yankees
are playing for some stakes.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
What are we gonna do now, I'm watch the Yankees.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Let's watch maybe, but hey, you know it's important to you.
I'm gonna sit and watch. The question is, wait, the
Guardians are supposed to be one of the best teams.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Are they supposed to be dropping the ball like that? No,
it's a strategy. When you drop a ball like that?
Does that get the other team? Do they get off
their game? Does that help?

Speaker 5 (03:36):
No?

Speaker 1 (03:36):
No, it doesn't. Is this like, oh, it's like it
because I heard about this in sport? Like there's like
a lot of faking going on, Like they fake they
make the play go Now, there's no faking and there's
no faking and catching the ball, there's no.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
See you took that down a deep dark path and
we're only five minutes into the show talking about faking things.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
There's no faking.

Speaker 6 (03:52):
Dare you?

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Hey, who's talking about faking? I thought we were having
Wait you wanted to come up and just watch the Yankees?
I thought, wait, what's going on? Escalated quickly. Right now,
seventh inning, the Guardians trail the Yankees four to two
runs on the board for the Yankees due to error
and misplays in the field. Again you throw in the
get the runesday scored in Game one because of the

(04:12):
wild pitches and the Guardians just they're just throwing up
on themselves. It's like they woke up in the morning.
I don't feel good because I shouldn't have had all
those wings last night. In the front. I go right
to the bathroom, and I mean not to give you
a bad vision, but that's Guardians, I understand, meeting a
lot of wings and then we go to the back.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
I mean, there was a lot of sports on a Monday,
that is, I mean, especially in New York. Right we
went down the list. Everybody played.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
So if you were indulging in the food and beverage
a little bit for each game, I mean, you committed
one of the seven deadly sins gluttony, you're paying for
it the next morning.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Yeah, this has been a good three day run of
New York sports. Owning the story, you go back to Okay,
Mets Dodgers Game one of the NLCS, and an hour
after that started Son day night, you had the Giants
on Sunday Night football. Going to the next day, you
had Mets Dodgers at one o'clock. Then you had the
Yankees play Game one of the Alcs against the Guardians

(05:09):
at four. Then you had the Jets on Monday Night
football last night. Now you come in today, you wake up,
the Jets, get Davonte Adams, and the Yankees are on.

Speaker 6 (05:17):
Now.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
It's like it's been three days of all New York.
It's like New York is like, hey, you give us
his news cycle. We're gonna keep it, okay, just so
you know, we're not giving it back. All right, We're
gonna find some kind of crazy ass trade you made themorrow.
We're gonna trade Dable for something else. Maybe we fire
him and bring him Belichick or something up. But we
do something because we got to keep this train moving, Okay.
I mean we got to mention the doll We got
game trade tomorrow night right here, So it's okay, but
we need something else, right, So we're gonna do something

(05:38):
else there. And the Giants really not been pulling their
weight right all these other teams we've been there, So
the Giants gotta do something here. I don't know, maybe
bring a Phil Soons back to play quarterback. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
I gotta say this, With all of that's gone on
in New York sports, Malik Daghbors has gotten off easy. Well,
he's going to the contege, going to the Strip club,
all of those things that he's filmed doing while in
concussion protocol, and the misses another game. Yeah, after being
out and about Brian Dable being asked about it looked
like you wanted to punch the reporter in the face, like, really, still.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Don't feel good guy to do this?

Speaker 6 (06:09):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Sorry, still feel good. The strobe lights at the Strip
club probably did not help me. He's the He's the
He's the kid who wakes up in the morning and
tells his pets, I really I can't go to school today.
I feel aboud. I got a sore throat, I'm sick.
I don't feel good. I'm tired. Okay, take it. And
then three thirty when school over and everybody's out playing. Hey,
you know, I feel pretty good. I think I slept
all day. I can go out and playing. I go up.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
No, I'm going and playing now, already laced up and
ready to go and I'm ready.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Yeah, and I can go to school tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
No, no, I can go tomorrow. And then the next time,
I think I pushed it too much going out to
play in the afternoon. Uh. But yes, the big story
of the day the Jets get Davante Adams. First of all,
I want to tell you I am from the future.
What did I say last night after the game of
Inspirations a stinky globe? Davante Adams is not a Jet

(06:53):
by Wednesday, I will be extremely surprised.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
I mean it was the meeting of.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
The distress property, as we've discussed for a decade on
the show. Right, Yeah, I've got something, change of circumstance,
job loss, marital status, all of these things, my kids
going to college.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
I need money fast, So here take what I got.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Meanwhile, on the other side, we lost, and I'm throwing
this wide receiver that we brought in under the bus.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
Look, so I gotta do something. What did I tell
you last night? The play that stands for the Jets
last three weeks is Mike Williams wide open downfield with
two minutes left, and he slips and falls and Aaron
Rodgers says, yeah, he ran the wrong.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
Right now, here's the red line. And let's explain that.
I mean the ex mon the red line line. The
red line here is the red line is a nice
L line that you can take in Chicago to get
all over the city.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
You know how come in movies everybody lives near the
L like there's got to be places in Chicago. Not
but every time someone lives all the train. But you
know what, you must live right outside the.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
L It's part. It's part of the fabric of Chicago.
And one of the things I miss about it is
that is true. But you are only a couple of
minutes lives right next to the Statue of Liberty. Oh,
it's right outside of said No, not an island.

Speaker 6 (08:00):
No, no.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Chicago.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
As you are on the grid and you can get
a train pretty much anywhere in the.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
H Everybody seems to live right on the path, right
outside the door right now. But it makes for a
good ru Yeah, like in the future the Blues Brothers,
that's the L train. Hey, he's here in Chicago. But
let me give you some convenient plot device. Let me
give you something shocking and different on Davontae teams. Okay,

(08:27):
he's gonna suck. No, no, no, no, no, he's that
was take What are you doing, dude, I'm doubling down.
I have no doubt that the Jets are going to
be good eventually. Okay, good, I have no doubt. But
let me just say that double four because I was
talking to this my friend Heath today, he's a big
Jets fan. And and no, uh, it's it's he it's

(08:49):
actually Heathcliff slo him. Yes, you're right, oh wow, and
uh and and the whole thing coming around with this
is that, Okay, I knew they were getting I knew
they had to. You saw last night, three games in
a row they lost where they had the ball the
last drive and they couldn't get in the end zone. Right,
they stink in the red zone. Aaron Rodgers said it
last night. Williams slips down, doesn't run the right route.
You knew. I said it has to happen, and boom,

(09:11):
you wake up today and suddenly, hey, I'm hanging out.
I'm on McAfee with Aaron Rodgers. The I'm a jetee goodness, right,
And it's like they had a step brothers, like sleepover.
They built the bunks, beds and everything and before I
tell you how good the Jets are going to be,
let me let me just tell you this because this
was my first reaction. Trust me, the Jets are going
to be just fun. Yes, we'll get into it, but

(09:33):
let me say what I'm gonna say. You jerks, Okay,
you guys have to say sorry. So we're talking about
and I said, and I was like, you know, that's
the thing. Is like after last night, I went home
after the show and I just said, Okay, the Jets
they just stink. Right, they're two and four. It's not working.
Whatever they have going on, they have the changes. I

(09:54):
have no doubt they'll get it going better as the
season goes on, but there's too many moving parts. Okay,
if they stink, they're already two and four, what does
their record need to be to make the player gotta
go eight and three?

Speaker 6 (10:04):
Right?

Speaker 1 (10:04):
Okay? So I had I had, I had gone home
last night going okay, it is what it is. All
my energy needs to be on the Mets and we're
gonna we're gonna fly me over the Jets to the Knicks. Right,
So all good? And then I wake up to almost
like the Dodgers, And and then I wake up today
and the Jets get Davante Adams. They don't even have

(10:26):
to give up the second round pick. It's a third
round pick, and they're gonna pay them money. And great
that what did I say? You pay the money? You
figure out the money after you're all in on the
season with Rogers, go gain and I wake up and
I wake up today and I see this, and I
and I and I. You know, this is the worst
thing that the Jets do, the worst thing, because what
they do is they give you hope all the time.

(10:51):
Just when I just when I've accepted, hey, we're gonna stink.
I've had two years of Rogers, Rogers, Rogers. He gets
hurt all year last year, right, okay, but he's coming
back now. Everything looks great. All right, we start out
easy part of the schedule. We're two and four, we
fire our head coach, right it is? It is awful.
What are we gonna do? Okay? You know what? All right,

(11:11):
I don't hope anymore. They're gonna stink Mets Nicks whatever
it is. No, no, no, Now, hey, guess what you
got hope? They sucked you back because we just brought
in a great wide receipt it's horror, that's what it is.
He's better on one hamstring than half the guys I
have on two hamstrings. That's fine, it's fine, And that's

(11:31):
the because now it's okay. Now I'm sucked back in
when I had made that break, man, and you go
sucked back in your full pacino. I admit you thought
you're out. Yeah, you had a week till hey, what
do you have? Literally one week till the Knicks start
their season?

Speaker 2 (11:47):
No?

Speaker 1 (11:48):
Come, I mean I was okay, it was perfect. It
was it was a way of yes. Mentally No, no, no, hey,
we got DeVante Adams. Now we got Adams and Wilson
and Bryce Hall and Braylan Allen and all Rogers as
his guy back. And Woody Johnson says, we're gonna kick
ass now. He says that today at the Owners.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
He wouldn't say ass though, oh like he was on
hard knocks with the Bears.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Don't even say ass. Just when you were got the words,
you can't say it, just when you were gone. You're back.
We're gonna real you better. It's a horror movie. And
they sat back up. No, it's a it's a bit.
I don't want to go cliche, but it's Pacino line
from Godfather. What is just when I'm out, they bring
me back in and we claw it a fingernails for

(12:34):
that is okay, that's two different movies, but that's okay.
You know what, They could have put that any given
Sunday speech in Godfather three, and Godfather three would have
been a better movie. It's laughing. I went to when
Fredo died. I was the guy. Sorry spoiler if you
haven't seen the first Godfather, but Fredo, we had to
kill him. Oh and Sonny, he had problems. He shouldn't

(12:55):
have gone to the toll booth. They were waiting for him.
The guy gives a signal by dropping the and look
what happens to the guy. Okay, but I survive, and
I survived through three ball movies. Unfortunately, Sophia Coppel has
a been a director than an actress, so three doesn't
get a lot of play. So we take this soliloquy
from any given Sunday and put it back in this

(13:16):
movie with our fingernails. And you see the guy next
to you, and you have a guy who's gonna go
through anything for are we working here? Okay? And then
I'll bring in Jamie Fox and he'll come in and
he'll take over.

Speaker 7 (13:27):
Right.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
They bring you back to jest to say no, no, no,
you tell your gu guess what. Here we go Tractor Beam,
Star Wars now coming back. You're coming back to the
dust Stark, coming to the Dustark. Two things start quick.

Speaker 4 (13:37):
Aaron Rodgers is the guy that if you're trying to
be alongside him but you're not to what he wants,
he's gonna cut you loose. I mean, we've seen this
now repeatedly. The other is it went to his see
a movie last week? And you know how they have
the hallway of all the posters. Yeah, right, So you've
got all these great Oscar winners and big blockbusters and everything.
There's Star Wars, there's his Indiana Jones, there's uh shawshanky,

(14:00):
keep on going down. Last poster on one side, and
of the hallway Godfather three.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
I'm like, oh, hey, you got all of this.

Speaker 4 (14:08):
It's oh, It's like, oh great, great, And I'm explaining
to my older daughter, Hey, here's all these great movies.
You haven't seen this one. We gotta And then we
get to Godfather three and I just stopped. She goes,
you didn't have anything to say on that.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
No, no, no, you can skit that. Get down. Yeah,
let's let's sit the hallway. Listen in the Fast and Furious.
Here's the one you can completely skip over with Lucas Black.
Just go back and watch the end before you watch six.
And that's how it goes. I like the way you
tell I like the way you tap exit. How about
a Fresco exit swollen down. The Jason Smith Show with
Mike Carmen Live from the tirec dot Com Studios. That's
the worst part. I love the Davante Adams trade. But

(14:41):
the worst part is I was done. But no, no, no, we're.

Speaker 8 (14:44):
Gonna get you back, sucker, going to give you a hope.
Hope is now gonna drag you to the bottom of
the ocean. Good luck, Johnny. Tire around your neck.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
Not the only big trade of the day in the
NA We got more coming up next. Hey, Devonte Adams
goes to the Jets and then minutes later another big
trade goes down. We'll get to that straight ahead right here,
Jason and Mike. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven

(15:49):
show posted right after we get off the air. Thank
you for your continued support. Mike and I love putting
out this content for you every single night. And speaking
of putting out content, if content was a baseball iron
judge just put it out a home run that looked
like it was going to be a flyout. However, the
ball just kept drifting and drifting and drifting and drifting
until it fell into the seats and is now a

(16:12):
six to two Yankee lead over Cleveland as they bat
in the bottom of the seventh, his fourteenth career home
run in the postseason. He's not one behind Babe Ruth
still needs another eight to catch all time legend Bernie
Williams and jazz guitarist. Do you think more people know
Bernie Williams now is a jazz guitarist or they know
him as a baseball.

Speaker 4 (16:32):
I think it's really just me wants to bring up
the fact that he is a jazz because I think
I just have to explain. I just have to explain
the millennials who Bernie Williams because he was a thing
with the guy in the place. He was one of
the guys hanging around Derek Jeter.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
He played one. Why can't he just be a guitarist
because because he won a bunch of world series, so
he doesn't know how to play other things. Well, but
it's like he was what you know you're known for
ilain I we're a great guitarist, you're a guitarist, Okay,
Like well, okay, well I don't think people know. Well.
I was gonna say Eddie van Halen, but boy, Edi
van Halen really learned how to do keyboards and other

(17:04):
stuff and patented things, and okay, bad example, bad example,
all right. I was gonna go to jak Lee too
supefully he No, he's gonna be okay. That's was walking
his dog. Okay, then you sent me that story this morning,
that's pick up your dog's poop. No, stop, stop stop.
That was a random act. It was awful, terrible. Well,

(17:25):
he's the thing we don't know he's gonna be. I
saw today a couple of reports he's gonna be okay.

Speaker 4 (17:29):
No, but I mean in terms of the randomness of it. Yeah,
Oh well they said he was just out and he was.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
He was he was random. Oh man, just awful. I
watched too much Law and Order. No, and I couldn't
think about this. I couldn't think about the guitarist because
he was on my mind from that story.

Speaker 4 (17:43):
Today, he couldn't bring up Zach Wild, couldn't bring up
Bad Circle all the way down the lash should here's
uh so. Yeah, So the Yankees lead six.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
To two over the Cleveland Guardians as they bat in
the bottom of the seventh thing, looking to take a
two o lead in the Alcs. Now, a few minutes
ago we talked about the Davante Adams trade, uh from
the Raiders to the Jets and and look like I said,
the worst part is now after accepting the jets. We're
gonna stick.

Speaker 6 (18:12):
No.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Now, we're gonna give you hope again. We're gonna keep
you around. We're gonna keep you around like this. Come on, man,
just let me make my clean break. No. It's like
when your ex when you you're done and they just
call you out of the blue one night, Hey thought
you want to hang out? No, no, no, I was done. No,
now I'm back in. Now I'm beckon.

Speaker 7 (18:27):
I know.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
I'm driving you to your sisters tomorrow. It's four hours away.
How did I get roped into that?

Speaker 4 (18:33):
And I can't quit you? That's uh, that's that's a
different movie. That's but I mean the sentiment could be
the same.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
Sure, sure, sure, but it didn't that scene again, that
movie didn't end well, No I didn't. It did not
en well. Uh, but it looks So that's so that's
where it's at. Like I'm telling you, I love the
trade and I will get into the details of it
in a bigger way later on, but just just to
let me think about it. Jets always gonna jet, and
it's like, now now you get me help, like you
can't be bad and just say okay, we're not gonna
get no, no, no, every year. We're gonna give you just

(19:01):
a little bit of hope to think that we're gonna
be really good. Then we're gonna snatch it away. But
then do We're gonna keep you on the lot. We're
gonna keep you hanging on for it all the way through,
gonna keep you on the line.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
So it's fine the way through and finish doing the
I watch a flex podcast for the week right, wrapping
it up, some of the talk about Monday night football,
will they won't they? And I'm driving to a doctor's
appointment very early. Get in, get it over and be
done with it and get them.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
I get into the parking.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
Lot and my phone just goes meet and I look
and I'm like, there goes my nap because we're gonna
have to record another podcast that'll be up here if
it isn't already the uh wherever you get your podcast.
But it was just one of those all right raiders,
bad job by you. I mean, you've got all these
teams in need of wide receivers and you just say here, no.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
The jet said we'll take them all. We'll pay the money.
Oh well, okay, then that's all right. And they were
either gonna one or the other. It was either gonna
be we're gonna get something and we're gonna pay the money,
or you don't have to give us a lot. But
you got to pay the money. But just gave him
what he wanted. We'll pay the money, a lot of
money for one leg. We'll pay the money. See. But
that's the question. How hurt was that hamstring at all? Listen,

(20:09):
the Jets have a bunch of wide receivers that are
not very good, that are not using their hamstrings. Williams
get cut, gonna get traded. Give those hamstrings to DeVante
Adams will be fine. We've got lots of ones. Whoa, whoa, it'sparrimentation.
How's gonna go? It is a Halloween season. You've been
even you haven't been activated this year? Right, you're still

(20:30):
you haven't been up yet. Okay, Well here we're gonna
you know, here's you go. How about you stay in rehab.
Davante Adams hamstring and we're gonna give We're gonna give
him yours. Okay, that's okay.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
So was he already on the plane when that play
to Williams happened? Well, they said.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
Parking lot years and they said they knew last night,
like the trade was in his car. The trade was
done last night, and then it was announced it like
they knew last night. Okay, this is this is what
we're gonna do. No, sure that it's not tam waiting
in their facility parking lot. No happen. They made the trade,
they agreed to the deal last night, and he had

(21:06):
to fly to get and get already there and get
looked at.

Speaker 8 (21:11):
Him.

Speaker 1 (21:11):
Okay, if he's been there playing video games that Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 4 (21:14):
Okay, he because wared with Kay Adams. I'm convinced. Every
chestion in the next room over bye, everybody.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
He just knocks. He just knocks the wall down to
the uti. Hi, I've here.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
And then he showed up. He's like, hey, did we
just become best friends? So look so there, So there's
your first big train. And again I'll tell you why
the Jets are now too big to fail.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
But there's a big there's a big question. However, right
after that deal happens, we watched the Bills get Amari
Cooper from the Cleveland Browns. And we know we'll get
to the Bills part of this, but just the Browns.
The Browns angle on this because ty shirt is back tonight. Uh,
this is the first thing I thought of when I
saw this trade go down. My first thought was, oh,

(21:54):
it was a safe thing. You know. You know what
I see? Will Ferrell do all those crazy ass commercials
now for what is it for? Tapping whatever? And he's singing,
and I do the same thing. I know he won't, Yeah,
he won't. He won't do ELF tube because I'm not
gonna ruin the sanctity of that movie. But I'll sing
on TV for these PayPal commercials we sold our sol
rock control. Hell Man, you won't do ELF two, but

(22:14):
I'll do these stupid ass commercials. We're all sing hey,
and people are funny, and people think what I'm doing
is just because I'm singing on a commercial time I'm singing,
I don't. It's okay, So you won't do that. And
when the trade goes down, I go, oh, So, Deshaun
Watson gives you the best chance to win per Kevin
Stefanski the last two weeks, but you'll trade your number

(22:36):
one receiver. That's okay, right, DeShawn. No, No, we gotta
put our best guy out there to give us a
chance to win. That's Deshaun Watson, but we'll trade our
number one receiver, who apparently we can win without. So yeah,
that when I see that message, my thought was, if
I'm a Browns fan, I stop watching the team. I say,
you know what, I'll see you next season. I can't
do that. You're gonna sit here with some stupid ass

(22:57):
story that Deshaun Watson has to play because he's the
best option and he's not. And other teams go to
other players, so you know it's from the top because
they're paying the money they can't get out of. And
Jimmy Hasselm, I'm sure, has said, I'm paying this guy
more money you all wanted him, know, and I'm paying
him more than any guaranteed contract in the history of
the game. So you're gonna keep playing this guy because
I can't believe Kevin Stefanski likes going up there and saying, yea, no,

(23:21):
he's our guy. No, of course not. Kevin Sefanski looks
like someone Dude. I feel bad for you, and you're
losing cachet, You're gonna lose the locker om, You're gonna
lose everybody because everybody knows Deshan Watson stinks, so but
you're still doing that saying, oh, no, he's still our
best guy, but oh, we'll trade our best receiver. We
know the season's over, right, if I would rather the
Browns just say, you know what, we're tanking. We could

(23:41):
put Jameis Winston in, but you know, we might win
some games, and at this point we're one in five,
it's over. We'll probably draft a quarterback and find some
way to get by. We need to do that anyway,
so we're just guy. I'd rather the Browns just say
that we're going to tank, because the other part of
it is I wouldn't even watch the games. I would
be so mad that you're insulting my intelligence. You're not
putting out a product to win, you won't do something

(24:02):
that could spark you to win. And then you give
me the you spit in my face with the with
the with the with the trade of Amari Cooper going
oh yeah, yeah, yeah, our best receiver who's coming off
two huge years with us. Yeah, we're better off without him,
and we're we're with them away for a third round pick.
So yeah, that's how we're better off. I mean, this
is where I go, you know, what. There's better things
for me to do on a Sunday than watch the Browns,

(24:23):
and I would do all of that. I would watch REP.
I don't know if I want to watch replays of
the Guardians first two game against the because the errors
are really really bad. But I would find something else
to do on Sunday then then watch the Browns, because
why are you investing emotionally in something where clearly whatever
their their end game is, it's just I'm I'm I'm.
I'm satisfied with just having my team be a team

(24:45):
where I'm paying a guy and he's playing, and that's
the main aim of the season is to just continue
to have him earn his paycheck by going out there
to play. I mean, I would say, I would say,
you know what Browns I'll see in the off season.

Speaker 4 (24:57):
Well, it's good to see Haslim get back in the
spot like because right now he runs neck and neck
with Jerry Jones, and we'll get to him plenty over
the show. In terms of obstinates and denial of where
you're at. Right again, sunk costs in Cleveland, right, bad contract.
There's nothing you can do about it. You just swallow
and pay out the cash, figure out how to win.

(25:19):
Right in theory, Andrew Berry and his team have assembled
what was a pretty good roster in theory. Nick Chubbs
coming back here in short order. I know Jerome Ford
left with an injury, so you're down to you know,
a couple of uh also ran running backs to cobble together.
But you let Amari Cooper out, Like I immediately thought
of Morgan Freeman walking out of the prison and Jajak,

(25:41):
I'm pretty I'm out. You know, Sonny, ain't stamp your phone.
I don't care if.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
The trade me or not.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
Stamp out, you get out.

Speaker 4 (25:48):
Okay, so new Le's online for him, but you know
you're forcing Stefanski to do the hostage video of he
gives us the best chance.

Speaker 1 (25:57):
And not only does he have to say that, but
he's got to say that at first, Like I'm not
gonna go through this crazy ass press conference and now
I'm gonna say, right, he gets the best chance to win. Really, dude,
you know what, shut it down, turn the MIC's off,
turn the cameras off. He's just gonna sit here and
say whatever's.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
Gonna say the same thing imediately, No exactly, it's it's
Richard Gear with his hand on rene Zell.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Wigger's back in Chicago as a puppet. I mean, that's
what we're at it this point.

Speaker 4 (26:23):
But Haslam, you know, bad money and just isn't pushing
to do anything for this team to win.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
Barry likes his job, so he's listening to a has them. Hey,
can I at least trade Cooper so we can tell
the fans what we really think and nod and wink
at them, because that's truly all this is?

Speaker 1 (26:43):
Right?

Speaker 3 (26:43):
Okay, Amari Cooper, you go on and we're gonna tell
the fans now we're taking even if the other guy's
still playing.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
This. I would have much more respect if you saw
us to fansk your house on press conference together. Hey,
here's the thing. We're one and five, I mean five, right,
this is pretty good. How many games can you lose
to go to the playoffs?

Speaker 7 (27:04):
Seven?

Speaker 6 (27:04):
Right?

Speaker 1 (27:05):
Are we really gonna go thirteen and two? We're not
us alone. Go travel down the highway. Don't bother Tom
winning about his quarterbacking stuff. Leave be alone. We're not
doing it right. We stink. Okay, you understand that, right,
But we're still gonna get together on Sunday. You get
to watch the team on television or not or not.
There's a whole commercial just so you know, just so

(27:25):
you know, we're thinking about next year, and we know
that Deshaun Watson is terrible. In fact, we've invited to
Jean right and then you showed Deshaan Watson's actually sitting
next to them. We know he's terrible, but he's making
all this money and by the level of his play,
him playing so badly, we're gonna get a great draft pick.
No imagine, look at Deshaun Watson and then squint your

(27:48):
eyes and think about it being Shador Sanders. Just think
about that, Just just quint your eyes, like, oh, that
could be Shador Sanders.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
Could be cam Ward, Yeah, could be cam Ward Heyn
could be could I've never seen, doesn't matter.

Speaker 4 (27:59):
Imagine here see I went back to when Will Ferrell
was funny for that reference. Here's what we're gonna do.
We're gonna make it right now in this video. We're
gonna do a funny thing where you can superimpose.

Speaker 1 (28:08):
Any quarterback's head you want on Deshaun Watson's body and
imagine that's our guy next year. But he needs to
be out there this year to play because he's bad
and we won't win games. But here's the problem.

Speaker 4 (28:20):
You can't superimpose it over the actual tape because now
it's in your mind that that quarterback looks bad.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
Oh no, no, I think that.

Speaker 4 (28:27):
No, no, because you really have to go and rewind
to back when Deshaun Watson was good.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
This a long time ago. That might be black and
white footage. It just like, no, no, you put like
like like you put like rainbows and fireworks and everything else.
Like you know when you can send on your phone,
you send a text with fireworks below. Yeah, that's how
you do like like when all of a sudden, like hey,
keep hitting the like button and you'll see balloons go
up over Deshaun Watson's face. That will be that's how
you do it. I really I would have more respect
if they just said that, they said, look, this is

(28:54):
what we're doing, because right now it's it's an insult
to the fans. It's an insane insult to the fan base,
to everybody that has a pulse that that cares, because
the Browns mean a lot to a lot of people.
Right Every NFL team, every team means a lot to
a lot of people, and you're treating it like, yeah,
we're just gonna kind of do what we need to
do because we made a really bad decision and we're
not going to get out of it. Just real quickly.

Speaker 4 (29:15):
Though, If if Stefanski word to defy things, order the
code red and put in Jamis Winston and he gets fired,
he still gets his money, right, Yeah, he gets a
better job, and he'll get a better job somewhere else.

Speaker 1 (29:26):
He'll be head coach of the Jets next year. Oh
you said better job, he said to the Cowboys next year. Sorry,
you said better job. I know you keep saying better
jeg wars. That's it. That's it. Well, let's keep better job. Yeah,
better job.

Speaker 7 (29:37):
Better.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
We get to go to London a couple of times
a year, So I really I would stop. If I'm Browns,
I would just stop watching. Uh time notw to find
out what's trending in the wide world of sports. Kevin
Wat's got the latest cake down. What do you got?

Speaker 3 (29:49):
Yeah, Aaron Judge going it deep for the New York Yankee.
So they've extended. They're leading is now six to two
in favor of the Bronx Bombers. It's the top of
the eighth inning out in New York with Theians up
with a runner on first and two batters out, so
four outs to go for the Guardians before they go
back to Cleveland facing a two nothing deficit. And in

(30:11):
the NFL, a lot of news to report on today.
The Detroit Lions giving defensive lineman Only McNeil a four
year of ninety seven million dollar contract extension with fifty
five million of it guaranteed, and some trades going down.
DeVante Adams, that's the big headline today, going to the
Jets is going to be reunited with Aaron Rodgers as

(30:32):
the Raider, setting him in exchange for a twenty twenty
five conditional third round pick that could become a second
based on performance. That is, if Adams is named to
a first or second team All Pro or if DeVante
Adams is on the roster for the AFC Championship game.
The Jets are taking on the entire remainder of adams salary,
and the Jets going to attempt, according to Pro Football Talk,

(30:53):
to trade Mike Williams after they got Adams, So Mike
Williams has become expendable out over at the Meadowlands Bill's
getting Amari Cooper from the Browns in exchange for a
third round pick as part of the picks swaps, So
Cleveland gonna get a twenty twenty five to third and
a twenty twenty sixth seventh rounder. Well, Buffalo getting Cooper
and a twenty twenty five sixth round pick, and those

(31:15):
were the only trades.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
Cam Akers going from the Texans to.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
The Minnesota Vikings as a team swapping late round picks
in that draft him, Mike tom and sing Russell Wilson
under consideration to start Sunday night against the Jets as
he took some first team reps reportedly in practice, and
Tomlin also said as a possibility. Wilson and Justin Fields
both we'll see action in week seven. Got you guys,

(31:38):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (31:39):
K dub the Jason Smith Jow with Mike Carmen live
from the Ti rack dot Com studios. We got more
NFL on the way. Next, we have a big quarterback
decision that, absent of any sane thought, is going to
come in and happen on Sunday. We got that story
coming up next. Jason to my this is Fox Sports Radio. Hey,

Speaker 2 (32:28):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
But Russell Wilson, he will start, Oh my goodness, not
justin fields that everybody's upset Fox Sports Radio, The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. Yeah, we're
not talking about Aaron Rodgers right now. It's just an
overriding the We're not uh speaking for America through those words,
believe it or not. The Steelers look like they're going

(32:59):
to be making a change at quarterback today. Mike Tomlin
in his weekly presser, talked about how Russell Wilson's gonna
get some reps with the ones this week on his
way back mccalf injury and could he start on Sunday.
Tomlin says, E, we're thinking about.

Speaker 5 (33:16):
He is in consideration this week. We'll see where that
leads us. Man. Both guys at the quarterback position are
scheduled to work tomorrow and we'll just walk it day
by day, all geared toward putting ourselves in in best
position to win the football game.

Speaker 1 (33:32):
Again. I always say, find someone who loves you as
much as Mike Tomlin loves Russell Wilson, because this makes
zero sense. There's only two things that I think of
that would make sense, and I know neither mature. One
is that they feel bad because they promised him he
would start. Oh, we promised you you would start. The
other thing is this is just gamesmanship and they want

(33:52):
the Jets to prepare for two quarterbacks. But why would
you do that to Justin Fielder? Why would you do
that to your starting quarterback?

Speaker 7 (33:58):
Right?

Speaker 1 (33:58):
Who's played pretty well? Now? Has he played great? No?
But has Justin Field's played well? And now the Steelers
started winning. Yes, That's that's the one question that I
will and I would ask that makes even the most
staunchest of Russell Wilson believers, go, oh, I see your
point about why starting Russell Wilson's a bad idea. They're

(34:20):
four and two through six games. Justin Fields has accounted
for ten touchdowns. Right, He's thrown for five, he's run
for five. Right, his fourth overall in rushing yards for quarterback.
He's completing sixty six percent of his passes. Now has
he been elite? No One turnover? Right? So that's been
all the good for Justin Fields. He's running the ball
well what he did in Chicago. He is throwing the
ball at a high percentage of accuracy. And the Steelers

(34:41):
are four and two. My question would be this, you
really want to see Russell Wilson play. What is he
going to give you that's going to be better than
what Justin Fields is at this point? Is great? This
is not Russell Wilson at ten years ago. Is that
Russell Wilson is seven years ago, not five years ago.
This is Russell Wilson, not healthy yet and so washed

(35:03):
that the Broncos eight eighty five million dollars just to
get rid of him, just to get rid of him.
And yet what is he going to give you at
this stage in his career that Justin Field is not right.
It's the same philosophy of oh, everybody in Ohio State
wants Ryan Day fired. Well, why well, because you know
he's eighty six and four, but we gotta get somebody

(35:24):
who's gonna go eighty seven and two. Like, Okay, who
are you gonna get that's gonna win the three games
that he hasn't won over the last seven years. There's
nobody out there here you're talking about the roster that
the Steelers have. Is Russell Wilson really gonna give you
more than what Justin Field is giving you. No, he's
not in anything. He's gonna be the same guy throwing
the football, and he's not nearly as dynamic with his legs, right,

(35:45):
And that's really what sets justin Field's apart. And the
Steelers are four and two. Things are going well. Everybody
in that division has issues, right. The Ravens lost a
couple of games, but now they're getting pretty good. The
Bengals have issues, and the Browns. Clearly of the Browns,
everything is fun. And now you're gonna throw this out
there and say, no, no, we gotta put Russell Wilson
back out there, like what does he have over you

(36:06):
that's getting you out there? Because I don't know anything
he's gonna do that's gonna be better than justin Fields.

Speaker 4 (36:12):
I would say this the whey you lose on his
elusiveness and the running, I think a lot of what
happened in Denver, Wow, I'm certainly not going to defend
that he was quote unquote good in any way, shape
or for him. I think that was more just Sean
Payton wanted to move on and it was a hey,
I'm here, this is what I want.

Speaker 1 (36:31):
Give it to me. So there's going on, and then
there's but there's oh sure it's a lot of money.

Speaker 4 (36:39):
But I think the look he's not getting along necessarily
with bo Nix really well just yet either for all
of that, so that you've got those issues going on.
But from the passing game, I think you're trying to,
at least on the surface, think that you can unlock
something different, right because he's still completed a high percentage
of his passes last year, he was still a twenty

(37:01):
five touchdown guy.

Speaker 1 (37:02):
All of those things, a.

Speaker 4 (37:04):
Lot of it came in a lot of sacks taken
looked terrible decisions. Right, So if you go in line
with what the narrative is on. Justin fields, you certainly
have a lot of that that crosses over in terms
of decision making, holding the ball too long, all of
those things to this point field just the one interception
he did have, the one fumble, remember when he tried
to lean over and instead of just falling on the ball.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
Bad move.

Speaker 4 (37:27):
But either way he's played fairly clean. But as you know,
Mike Tomplin said, don't don't confuse the record with great, okay, right,
because he hasn't played great. So I think what they're
saying is and I disagree with it.

Speaker 3 (37:40):
Right.

Speaker 4 (37:41):
I think you know, you're at your four and two.
You're going against the Jets team where their strength is
their defense. So in theory, having a guy that can
create plays with his legs is probably what you want.

Speaker 1 (37:52):
In this situation.

Speaker 4 (37:53):
But I understand their desire to try to, you know,
make George Pickens in the passing game.

Speaker 1 (37:59):
Click a little litle bit more. What is it you're winning
either you're winning it? You want to win every game?
Sixteen ten. I don't. I don't understand, Like you change
quarterbacks when you have to, you don't change quarterbacks just
because well.

Speaker 4 (38:12):
I remember he was always a number one on the
depth chart, right, But so we've had well, we've had
six games. The Steelers are four and two and they're
in first place. And suddenly now, no, we're gonna get
Russell Wilson in there.

Speaker 1 (38:21):
This is this. I look at the Steelers and go man.
For so long they were such a great run franchise,
and now I feel like what's happened? Like is this
coming from above? It is this Mike Tomin, dude, are
you losing your fastball? Are you? He is going to
the walls and Ross Ross Ross Ross Russ What I really, hey,
are you you under some kind of of hypnotism? Like

(38:43):
in the movies When the When, the When? The government
guys and the president and the senators are all under
the hypnotism of the bad guys. Right, look what they're doing?
Like he is that what's going on right now that
Russell Wilson hasn't hypnotized? Thinking that it's twenty and thirteen
and he's a great quarterback.

Speaker 4 (38:57):
I do think someone needs to send a note though,
to remind him, Hey, Arthur Smith was the guy that
kept Jon Robinson in a box important situations last year.

Speaker 1 (39:06):
I don't I don't understand this fealty to Russell Wilson,
and I don't get what they think they're gonna get
that they're not getting from Justin Fields. But you know what, Hey,
you'll find out Sunday against that Jets defense. Good luck
Russell Wilson, but good luck.

Speaker 3 (39:21):
He came about the Jets again. All of that Pittsburgh,
Pittsburgh Jets, Jets, Jets.

Speaker 1 (39:26):
Coming up next? What NFL owner has threatened radio jobs today? Fox?
The great stories about crazy legal cases? Did he get
into the crime vaults and truths?

Speaker 3 (39:39):
I think he will be uh like, kind of the
outside reporter like they used to have back in the day.

Speaker 1 (39:44):
What do you think is gonna happen in this case?
The Carbonaro effect? He'll be on that. Yeah, yeah, prank callers,
Frank So Willa Morosi coming up in a bit following
this game. Looks like the Yankees are gonna go up
two games to none, and I gotta say, I think
that's probably gonna do it for the Guardians trying to
win four out of five against this lineup. When you
have home field advantage, you come back home if you

(40:06):
need to. I know that, y'all the series doesn't really
beget No, if someone doesn't get the first two games,
that's the series, right, you going up to zip. There's
a reason why eighty percent of the teams win that series.
And I know for for television, for all kinds of sake,
it's all hey to nothing is not a beat.

Speaker 7 (40:22):
No.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
That's why Monday I was gripping my ass off at
Dodger Stadium, going, if we lose this game, that's it, right,
Oh yeah, we're going on there. But what we gotta
do is lucky is lose one game. If we're down
to zip, we're gonna lose the series. I would you
gotta have to When the.

Speaker 4 (40:37):
First two runners got on frostp tell tell me you
didn't want a camera all right over the top of him.

Speaker 1 (40:43):
I really thought I was gonna get on TV when
when Diaz put O'tan. When Diaz walked Otani, I had
my hands over my eyes and I had my my
T shirt, my met shirt up over my eyes, like
I can't believe he just walked. How do you just
w just pitch to him? It's a four run league?

Speaker 4 (40:59):
Did did you that Dodgers towel that you gave frostbring
in your mouth like you were frank to Tank.

Speaker 1 (41:05):
Why was it sticky? Yeah, my dad's spilled soda on it.
I'm sorry he spilled soda. I'll leave it there. Yeah,
I just wanted to make sure that that was I
wanted to make sure that that was there, and that
was what? All right? Very good that one. My dad
was drinking soda. He is, my dad, very happy tonight

(41:29):
of six three Yankees. He's Judge in a home run
and Stanton didn't. So it's a happy day for my dad.

Speaker 3 (41:37):
You see, we want six three. You see what Stanton
didn't nothing.

Speaker 1 (41:41):
I'm happy when Judge does well and Stanton doesn't and
we win.

Speaker 4 (41:45):
That's like the world for He said, he's still gonna
burn a Stanton jersey in his yard.

Speaker 1 (41:49):
Stan could win with a walk off home run in
the ninth inning of Game seven, a grand slam to
beat the Dodgers for three and beat o'tani who comes
in to try to save the game in the ninth
and my dad would go first. That he's ever gotten.
That's really mattered. Whoever the guy was that was on
first that scored the tie. Hey, hey, this is this
inning was made possible before Stanty came. Stanton gets zero,

(42:17):
gets zero credit for anything. It's it's hysterical. I don't
know who gives my dad gives less credit to Stanton
or the bullpen because everything is it's the bullpen is terrible.
I'm like, Dad, they're pitching really well. Ah, it said
just lucky dude. In the off season, Jason, in the
off season. Stanton lives like down the street from us.
Really he went to Notre Dame High School right now,

(42:38):
that's right. Oh, I didn't know that's out here in
the eight one eight. Okay, so we'll bring me on
the show him in on a prank for your dad.

Speaker 6 (42:46):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (42:46):
Absolutely, yeah, Yeah, that'd be pretty good. That would that
would be pretty good. Knocks on your dad's door. I
heard you've been talking crap. Hey, Dad, I got Stanton here,
but tell him to beat it. Dad. There's the show
opened the door dead.

Speaker 4 (43:00):
All our friends and family that have talked, smacked and
against an athlete, we find a way to get them
to show up with us. It's like, can we sit
down for lunch? And then all of a sudden, why
why do the why do we need the fourth chair?

Speaker 1 (43:12):
The case Mike every Jet and met Nick would be
knocking a Jason Moore. I want to talk about you
said about me from nineteen eighty seven through nineteen ninety six. Okay,
go ahead, come on, Patrick Ewing, sit out. What do
you got where we have giant miner? Okay? That the
Patrick man has for you. It's like the end of
the Jay and Silent Bob strike back, where they get

(43:32):
on a plane and go to every single person's house
that said something bad about them on the internet.

Speaker 6 (43:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (43:37):
Yeah, beat the crop out of them. I like this.
Uh so again, We'll have more on the Yankees, uh
Guardians game coming up in a few minutes. Meanwhile, Jerry
Jones making all kinds of headlines today for what go
wrong reasons. Now, as you know, Jerry Jones does a

(43:57):
weekly hit on one oh five three the Fan in Dallas,
and it's a very successful bit because usually whatever Jerry
Jones says on that Tuesday interview makes headlines throughout the country.

Speaker 3 (44:12):
It's usually just kind of badde and kind of crazy.
We had come see my monkeys and everything else.

Speaker 1 (44:17):
I mean. And and he was asked a couple of
weeks ago if the Cowboys slow start is on him,
and he said yes, put it on me. Uh, did
you can blame me if you want to? Small slow start? Yep,
losing to the Saints. That didn't can't believe that happened?
Telling Archie Manning had a good game. Didn't know, Uh
Defie Henderson a couple of touchdowns. Wo, hoky, guy John

(44:38):
can still run the ball. Uh just didn't know, you know, real,
just to just moving around a little bit when I
get all adult and hill Hearon Aaron Brooks gave his
problems when he came in the second half. U tough,
tough game for US. Tough game. So a few weeks
ago years Saints and over a bear came in. Now
he was pretty good. What zipping back that happened? Marcus Colston,

(45:01):
he was good to Yep, No, just have guys. We
just had problems. Lily had problems the other they were
switching on him on defense. Harvey Martin not play well.
Randy White, Yep, figure they we get more pressure on
the quarterback. Didn't happen. So a couple of weeks ago,
everything was fine and he was okay with taking the
blame for the slow start. However, today on one oh
five to three the Fan, he decided he did not

(45:24):
want to take the blame for anything, and he was
asked by the hosts on the radio, Hey, Jerry, you know,
do you think the reason you guys are three and
three another blowout loss they get thumped by the Lions
forty seven to nine is the reason you know you're
struggling because you didn't get a lot done in the
off season. But Jerry Jones was not having any of
that conversation.

Speaker 6 (45:45):
This is not your job. Your job is to let
Lea go over all the reasons that I did something
and I'm sorry that I did it. That's not your job.

Speaker 1 (45:54):
Well my job is that asking.

Speaker 6 (45:55):
The job or I'll get another I'll get somebody else
to ask these questions.

Speaker 1 (45:59):
Man, Jerry, we're just we're trying to figure out why
the team out.

Speaker 6 (46:04):
I'm not kidding it. I'm not kidding it. You're not
going to figure out what the team is doing right
or wrong. If you are are any five or ten
like you, you need to come to this meeting I'm
going to today. There are thirty two teams here. Your
genius is, Jerry, yn't really think you're going to sit
there with a microphone and tell me all of the

(46:26):
things that I've done wrong and without going over the rights,
now listen, we both know we're talking to a lot
of great fans and a lot of great listeners, and
I am very sorry for what happened out there Sunday.
I'm sick about what happened. One of the stupidest things
I've ever done that anybody has ever analyzed is by
the Cowboys. It was an idiot that did that. So

(46:49):
idiot things can turn into good decisions. Okay, smart things
can turn into bad decisions. The facts are that when
you make one, you don't really know whether it's want
to be good or not at the time. So let's
let's just go ahead. I'm trying to answer you questions. Man,
you want some you want some conversation this morning, you'll
get that.

Speaker 1 (47:09):
So hey, I want to Hey, so Craft and uh
blank and Roger uh these are three guys from the radio.
They wanted to come to the owner's meeting today because
they're pretty smart. So uh, I'm just going to sit
here and just listen, uh to what we got to
talk about here. We talk about big business, because you know,
I'm worth fifteen billion dollars and uh, I can fire
three radio hosts if I want to you know, I'm

(47:31):
worth You know that that's with a B. That's got
to be. Now, if I said million, that'd be what
I'd paid Deck for, uh, his signing bonus. But it's
B with a billion, and I could certainly, I mean
I don't. I don't think these three guys together even
make a total of one hundred thousand dollars, So I could,
I could easily have these guys fired. Uh if if
I wanted to.

Speaker 3 (47:48):
Questions, Wow, he just took shots at the payscale in
local Dallas radio. But I do like the fact that
in answering that saying hell, take you to the owner's
meeting basically call himself and the other thirty one guys
and families and whatever conglomerates genius.

Speaker 1 (48:05):
Genius, which is good. You guys are not you guys.

Speaker 4 (48:07):
And his point is that when he bought the Cowboys,
folks like what are you doing, like with a lot
of these guys, like why are you throwing money at this?

Speaker 1 (48:14):
It's a distretched property. It's like, because I have vision
and I want to own own it. I want to
be part of this. And now he's a rich man.
I like that he got all salty. This is great.
Look and it took the Zeros away from the Jets
for him. Well, look, because now we can break this
down in a better way than just how could you
say that a bucket? No, he's not going to have
these guys fired. Okay, he lost his head in the

(48:37):
middle of an interview. Why because he has gone out
of his way this last year to say all these
decisions are mine. Right before, it was well, this player,
this didn't work, this coach didn't work. We tried, we tried,
we tried to game Jason. But this year especially has
been this is me, all my decisions, all my all

(48:58):
in on this season, this is all me. And then
I don't sign any players, and then I ridiculously give
Dak and CD money, which goes against not bringing players in.
I think everybody would have understood if this was, Hey,
this is gonna be the year that is for the Cowboys,
then we're gonna reset because it's clearly not going for
We've seen the best of Dak's career and we're not

(49:18):
any closer to a Super Bowl. But I'm giving these
guys money, and now I'm not gonna be able to
go out and get other players so he has owned
all he has to own all this because for this
year especially, it's been me, me, me me, But now
the team is failing, and hey, Jerry, what are you
doing now? It's not his fault. I don't want to
talk about it. No, And and what he's missing is
the is the easiest part of this conversation. Is it

(49:40):
for him to go crazy like he had a bad
couple of minutes. I'm sure, And he went on, I
don't think he's gonna fire radio hosts.

Speaker 4 (49:45):
Out, but he doesn't own the only thing he could
do is say I'm not coming on your show anymore.

Speaker 3 (49:49):
A talk to somebody else. Yeah, that's all I mean,
that's really all. That's really what the threat was, right,
It wasn't I'm firing. I'll get somebody else does. I'm
going to buy this station. I'm to buy the look.
I'm worth fifteen million.

Speaker 1 (50:02):
I can buy.

Speaker 3 (50:03):
I could buy and sell your ass all every way
till Sunday.

Speaker 1 (50:06):
Let's introduce you to the new host of the show,
Steven and Dave Campo. Go ahead with your questions. Go ahead, guys,
go ahead ask me. I'm here, I'm here for you today.
But yeah, he threatened to fire the radio host. No
he didn't. He threatened to take his conversation somewhere. I
get somebody else to ask the questions. I'll get somebody on.
I'll just have somebody else ask me these questions. I'll
get Stall back to ask me these questions. But this

(50:28):
is what Jerry Jones and and this is this is
this is this is My big takeaway from Jerry Jones
with this is that he's unhinged because he failed. And
I understand. I understand where he's coming from because he will.
He owned this season and now he's got to own
the failure. Somebody's pissed off about it. That's all it is.
He's pissed off about it. But what he doesn't when

(50:50):
he sits here and wants to insult but behind the
microphones off, you want to take cake on radio and
TV hosts. I will tell you this. This is where
Joe Jerry Jones has no leg to stand on you.
I want to sit here and be upset. You don't know
what's going on. You're not in the room. You're not here,
you're not the owners meet. You're all geniuses sports. Unlike
many things in life, many things in life is a

(51:12):
very black and white business. Okay, it all comes down
to one thing in sports, right, everything else, well, there's
a different thing. There's It depends on your opinion, right,
like the Hamilton. No one controls who lives, who dies,
who tells your story?

Speaker 7 (51:26):
Right.

Speaker 1 (51:26):
You do what you do for a living, and whatever
happens is out of you. How you're viewed is out
of your control because when you do something creatively, everybody's
gonna have opinions, actors, actresses, politicians, everything, it's opinions. How
do you feel about so and so? But sports and
what Jerry judgest, which you should realize after being in
the business for a long time, Sports is about two columns.

(51:46):
There's two columns. It is a win column and there's
a lost column. And when you have more in the
win column, you are successful. You're doing things right. You
are winning. When you have more in the loss column,
you are not succeeding and you are failing. It is easy.
I don't need to be in a room with ever
to know the Cowboys stink. Okay, I don't need to
be in a room. There are two a win column

(52:08):
and a lost column. And when you're losing more games,
you are failing. It doesn't matter what at all about it.
But you are failing and it's your team. And that's
what he doesn't get is that sports is so it's
so easy to break down more as compared to everything
else in life. There's, yes, there are nuances to things
that go on in sports, and yes, the conversations go

(52:28):
in different directions and there's different angles, and we like
to bring those to you. But overall, it's pretty easy
to say, is this team good, is this team bad?
Is this team succeeding, or is this team failing? Are
the Jets succeeding, No, they're failing. Oh are the brown succeeding,
No they're failing. Are the chief succeeding, Yes, they're succeeding.
How about the Cowboys, No they're failing. It's pretty easy win.
Calm lost, calm, that's all it is.

Speaker 4 (52:48):
But as we know, right even in the nuance of
that is you can get plenty of folks in the
media to kiss your ass if you're losing by narrow margins.
We're seeing it in college, we're seeing it in the pros.
You went out and got worked on your home field.
You've been awful week after week in Dallas and the
team that you're supposed to be fighting for the top
of the heap with absolutely embarrassed you on your home

(53:11):
field on your birthday, On your birthday where there's all
sorts of celebrations and interviews and everything else, you go
and absolutely get work to where every offensive lineman they
were going to try to get them touches into the
end zone when it was all said and done. So
that's the loss you're coming out of.

Speaker 1 (53:28):
And Oh, that.

Speaker 4 (53:29):
Dereck Henry guy that you couldn't figure out a way
to sign, even though he was holding up a sign
saying bring me home is the top rusher in the game.

Speaker 1 (53:38):
Over it. I couldn't afford him. Now, you could have
given him. You got money under the salary. You couldn't
pay the other two guys. At that point, I know
he's mad. Bill. Look, he's just brought back Zeke. Yeah,
he's frustrated because the decisions haven't worked. He took it
out on these guys, which was wrong, and I hope
he apologizes, but he's got to understand that, dude. I
don't need to be in any kind of quarterback meetings

(53:58):
to know, hey, is Dak playing well? He's not playing well.
Is a team playing well A not?

Speaker 8 (54:02):
No.

Speaker 1 (54:02):
I can pretty much tell that. I can pretty much do.
It's very black and white in sports, Jerry. Sorry, I
don't need to need to have any kind of degree
and anything to be able to tell you, Yeah, this
team is good, this team is not. That's got That's
what makes sports so good?

Speaker 7 (54:15):
Is that?

Speaker 1 (54:15):
Okay? Not just no, there's no trying to color it
a different way. You're pushing what none, no, No. I
know when a team is playing good. I know when
a player is playing good. I know when a player
is playing bad. I know what a team is playing bad.
That's how it goes. You're playing bad. You're the one
that took the ownership of it, and now you're mad
about it. That's Jerry Jones. It's gotta's got to find
a way to fix it and get my show on
another channel, going someplace else. I'm gonna fire you if

(54:37):
you don't break Maybe could I go on just Monday
nights and talk with Joe and Troy in the middle
of the games, going to manning cast and do it.

Speaker 2 (55:15):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

Speaker 1 (55:25):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon. How about home Off? Live from the
tire rack dot Com studios. Love more NFL coming up
in a few minutes. Look back at the biggest trade
of the day. But the Yankees take a two games
to none lead over the Cleveland Guardians and the Alcs.
Is it over for Cleveland? Are the Yankees going to

(55:45):
the World Series? What about tomorrow? Is it a must
win game for the Mets? With us now on the
hotline from the ALCS. MLB Network insider or extraordinaire was
on the call tonight kind of a fun deal. Tonight
we had your call up up on the TV, John Paul,
John Paul Morosi with us right now. What's happening, buddy.

Speaker 7 (56:05):
I'm doing great, my friends. Thank you for tuning into
our data cast on True TV for the American League
Championship Series. It's been a lot of fun getting into
some numbers and some storytelling with Mike Petrillo and Dexter Fowler.
So thanks for watching. And we saw tonight Aaron Judge
get going and as Mike Petriello told us, this is

(56:25):
actually my favorite note of the night. That was the
highest fastball in terms of the height of the pitch
that Aaron Judge has ever hit for a home run.
In the STAT cast, hero about that He's got a
lot of home runs, but never on a fastball that high.

Speaker 1 (56:41):
Wow. Well, I don't know what pop more. That's STAT
or your shirt. That Sam and shirt was a good
look tonight, John.

Speaker 7 (56:47):
Paul, thank you, it was. It was SAMO. I got
it from Stinton Liberty, my favorite store in n Arbor,
and I wanted to wear it on National TV. I
think it looked all right. I'm glad to hear that
you liked it, and it's interesting because we've been talking
a lot on the show about you know, it's not
as formal of a program, so you can be a
little bit more relaxed, more casual. So we were joking about,

(57:11):
at what point in time would I arrive to the
show without wearing a blazer now a lighter, lighter blue
blazer with the salmon shirt. I felt like, was that's
about as it's about as like dramatic and chill as
I'm ever going to be. But we'll see. Maybe I'll
show up in a hoodie tomorrow and what we'll see,
We'll see if I can take my chances.

Speaker 1 (57:33):
I like it. The the change of tone and demeanor.

Speaker 4 (57:38):
Right, did take measure how high the ball got hit,
because that thing just kept drifting like I was sticking
Major League right, it's too high, it's too high.

Speaker 6 (57:47):
It was.

Speaker 7 (57:47):
It was more than one hundred feet in the air.
Stat cast had that as well. It was great. There
was actually one animation that we did that had the
entire path of the ball and it looks like the
Demon Drop roller coaster at Cedar points. It's unbelievable. That,
by the way, is a very strong regional reference for
those of you who are from.

Speaker 1 (58:06):
The great very strong.

Speaker 7 (58:09):
Yeah, so I thought in general, Look, the Yankees, they
wobbled a lot there in the fifth inning when Cole
really struggled with his command, and the Guardians had a
little window to get back into it, but they just
could not hold it. They could not get the really
big hit when they needed it. And listen, there's still
plenty of time left in the series. I don't think

(58:31):
the Guardians are in panic mode yet, but they have
got to play cleaner baseball. That they gave up an
under and run first inning of the game, and you're
just not going to be able to win ball games
against the Yankees and you give them extra outs, extra
ninety feet outfield defense was an issue for the Guardians.
It was not a textbook performance from Cleveland.

Speaker 1 (58:50):
Well, John Paul, I know you want to hear this.
If the Yankees run the bases like this in Game three,
four or five in Cleveland, maybe the Guardians can get
back in the series. I know you've asked, you've heard
about this John Sterling call. We're going to play it
for you so you can hear just what he thinks
about the Yankees and there inopportunistic base running Tonight.

Speaker 6 (59:10):
The O two.

Speaker 9 (59:13):
A bouncer, and Rizzo is going to be picked off.
He's in the middle between second and third. Hedges now
throws to second on the way to third, back to second,
back to third, tagged out, end of inning. Boy, if
that wasn't the Yankees, that's that's what they do. Run
the bases like drunks.

Speaker 1 (59:34):
Hey, no, run the bases like drunks. John Palmer ROSSI analysis.

Speaker 7 (59:39):
Uh so, I'll say this, that was not how I
chose to describe that moment on the TV data cat.
I'm not going to I'm not going to say which
one of us made the more iconic call of that moment.
I think John probably has me by a fairly wide margin.
Though that was a very interesting thought of John, and

(01:00:02):
I think relatively accurate based on the fact that they made.
I think I think all we said on the broadcast
as well. The Yankees in one inning have made two
outs between second and third base, which doesn't happen very
often in the same inning. Not their finest work on
the basis, And to your point, the Yankees could play

(01:00:22):
better than they have, and that, honestly is scary for Cleveland.
It's not as though the Yankees are operating as the
premous T shirt says the fully operational death Star. As
Brian Cashman said once years ago, they really are not
quite at that level yet because Judge just got going

(01:00:43):
late in this game tonight. Cole really did pitch that
great today either. But the bullpen has saved them sometime.
The hitting has saved them. Glabor Tours has been really good,
so it has been really good. Dan's been really good.
But they're I think they're still looking for that elusive
one through nine performance and if they get it, then
I would say the Guardians are in trouble.

Speaker 4 (01:01:01):
So that and let's go back to the Guardian side
of things. I mean, just the fundamentals. You mentioned the
hunner and run in the first with the dropped pop up,
and then the play that added the insurance run before
the Judge home run of they stopped the runner at third,
but when to bare hand it, you gave them another gift.
And this is a team that's too good to do

(01:01:21):
that Guardians. All season long, JP it was it was
about the margins. It was about you know, cleaning up
and finishing off games, and now they're just giving away
runs and runners right.

Speaker 7 (01:01:32):
And ninety feet means a ton in the playoffs, and
there were times where obviously the Guardians made two very
costly errors tonight. The walks were part of the story
a little bit tonight. There was certainly more more so
last night. The wild pitches last night were a major story.
It's it's difficult, and their margin for air is nothing

(01:01:54):
that they're going to have to be. It's not perfect,
something close to it. We have to remember too, it
took them everything to be able to defeat the Tigers
in the Division series. And listen, the Tigers had a
great late season run. But if you just line up
the Tigers lineup on paper and compare it to the Yankees,

(01:02:16):
it's not the same level of competition. So they were
much closer to the Tigers level so far than they
have been to the Yankees level, and that is a
bit of a concern. Their bullpen has been okay, I
think the Guardians overall, but there were some moments where
they weren't throwing strikes. It's just they've been a little

(01:02:36):
bit of a notch below. And to be honest, as
bullish as I've been on the Al Central for a
long time, this season, three teams in the playoffs. This
the first two games of this series will certainly open
up plenty of lines of inquiries saying, well, a team
like the Seattle Mariners might have done a better job
in this moment, or if the Astros or the Orioles

(01:02:56):
had won their first round series, maybe they would be
a tougher opponent for the Yankees. Right now, it's an
interesting dynamic to watch unfold, and certainly, right now the
Yankees could be moving ever closer to either a subway
series or the long away that the Yankees Dodgers matchup.

Speaker 1 (01:03:14):
John Paul Morose, the MLB Network insider from the ALCS
with us The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen and oh,
how nice you mentioned the NLCS and the Mets transition
there and the Dodgers got very nice and the Mets.
Let me ask you this, JP, because this is what
I talked we talked about last hour. Dodgers play a
great game in Game one, they get a great game
from Flarerty, the Dodgers' bullpen, the Mets do what they

(01:03:37):
want to with the bullpen. And I know the Dodgers'
strength is their bullpen, but the Mets have shown you
over the course of this playoffs. It doesn't matter what
your bullpen is, We're going to feast on it. That's
what we like looking at how the series is going
to go in New York. With the Dodgers sending Walker
Bueller to the Mount tomorrow, Bueler's not been the same.
Then you follow with Yamamoto and Flaherty coming off the
game of his life. I feel like it's a must

(01:04:00):
win for the Mets tomorrow because the idea of taking
two games from Yamamoto and Flaherty, I think that's going
to be too much, and I think they have to
have game three if they're going to win the series.

Speaker 7 (01:04:10):
I disagree, Actually, okay, I do think that. I think
the Mets the Mets from my perspective, they do need
to win two of the next three. I think to
find a way to bring this series back to Roger
Shady and I get what you're saying the flarity in
game five that you don't want to face them again
based on how dominant he was in Game one. I

(01:04:32):
get it, but I think that as much as we
talk about the Dodgers and how impressive they were in
game one, Game two gave us all the reasons why
this team is still vulnerable. The pitching is not there
for the Dodgers every single game. It's while they can
look great with Flarity in Game one, they've got to

(01:04:53):
go bullpen in game in Game two, and then, to
be fair, Buehler and Yamamoto, while at their peace they're
pretty good, they're also they also have not exactly shown
they can take you five, six, seven quality innings in
a postseason start right now. So I'm of the mind
this is a very balanced series. I think that's why
Game two was so important. The Mets had to show

(01:05:15):
they could win in LA. They've done that. I don't
think either one of these teams is going to win
three straight games here. I think we're going to see
a game six in LA. And with the Dodgers, Otani
really hasn't hit with men on men on base, Freeman's
playing on one leg, Will Smith isn't hitting. If this
is a if this is a juggernaut that's about to

(01:05:37):
win three straight, I don't know that I'm seeing that
right now. I still think the Dodgers can certainly win
this series, and in the Mets, I think are legitimately
equal chance as well. But I'm not seeing the huge dispairity.
I think you've got two quality teams, and Lindor is
playing I think at his at his peak a huge hit.
Again in game two, Bentos has really emerged. It's an

(01:05:59):
even series. It really is.

Speaker 6 (01:06:00):
This.

Speaker 7 (01:06:01):
This to me feels much more like it's going six
or seven than the Dodgers are on the brink of
Ryelanov free wins in row.

Speaker 3 (01:06:08):
Yeah, the big question is, you know, will there's top
five hitters for the Dodgers go over nineteen again? But
for a sports psychologists like hey show, Hey, why can't
you Why can't you hit? With nobody on, I'll hang
up and watch from the sideline.

Speaker 7 (01:06:24):
Right, No, that's exactly an interesting point. I have no
idea that the way that it's all played out and
the struggles that he's had of late, it's it's a
very very interesting topic. I don't know, it's almost impossible
to explain the disparity between how he's playing and how
he's hitting with men on base versus not on bays.

(01:06:44):
But again, when you look at this team and Freeman,
who I think is putting together one of the playoffs
for the ages, with what he's doing on one leg,
he's he's been great, as great as he can be,
and keyk has been key Gay and ta Askar has
been great. It's it's been a different cast than how
they normally win games. It looks to me like an

(01:07:06):
even series and and that the the Otawi element is
real and we'll have to see if he can find
a way to level out that performance there in those
three games on the road in New York starting tomorrow night.

Speaker 4 (01:07:17):
I also will say this from my friend next to
me here Jp, he was at game too and somehow
walk back at one piece.

Speaker 7 (01:07:26):
So, Jason, does that mean that you know? I do
know this about you. We've been friends for a long time.
You might be a little bit superstitious. So does that
mean that you're gonna be doing tomorrow's broadcast from City Field?

Speaker 1 (01:07:36):
No, I wish, I wish. I don't make that. I
don't make that true TV companion money, John Paul, that
you make it. I mean, we gotta work tomorrow.

Speaker 7 (01:07:46):
It's entirely possible that when when you look at this thing,
that the Jason Smith, as rational and clear minded of
an analyst as you are on all matters of all sports,
that that Jason walked out of Dodger stitty yesterday and said, hey, hey,
we won because I was here. We won, That's why
we won. Did that to do Bientos that the dude,

(01:08:10):
we won this game because I came here. Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:08:13):
He stood in for grimis JP.

Speaker 7 (01:08:16):
Yeah, Sean, and I was good, but I was better.
I think that's what Jason was saying, was leaving leaving
the ball park.

Speaker 1 (01:08:20):
This is I took my dad to the game, and
I want to tell because I know you love this story.
So I took my dad to the game, having the time.
My dad's a huge Yankee fan and he's wearing his
Yankee hat to the game. My dad, you can't wear Yankee.
I'm gonna wear what I want to wear. Okay. So
the game is going fine and Dodger Stadium by and large,
you know, I've gone to so many games rooting for
the Mets whatever, and it's a pretty good crowd. Ninth inning.

(01:08:41):
When it gets to the bottom of the ninth inning,
things were getting a little tense. The Mets fans around me,
the Dodgers fans around me. There's been a lot of
beer that's been consumed during the day, and it's a
little nerve wracking. I'm going okay, boy, bottom of the
ninth thinning is coming. The Dodgers are losing by four runs,
and I can see where the chirping might turn a
little bit, and all all of a sudden, somebody from
the stander says, hey, guys, come on stop. We all

(01:09:03):
know the Yankee suck, and Dodgers and Mets fans together
all started channing Yankee suck. For about ninety seconds. They
all came together on that one topic, John Paul. So
you say we're lost as a society, I give you
Mets and Dodgers fans coming together in that moment.

Speaker 7 (01:09:19):
So I love that. And here's my question for your dad.
At some point, I would love to know if, if
he sees and when he sees Brooklyn Dodger hats at
Dodger Stadium still is there like a tip of the
cap and of respect the back of the day when
there were three teams in New York.

Speaker 1 (01:09:33):
Oh yeah, anytime say hey, that guy's wearing a Cofax jersey. Hey,
that guy's wearing a skull of Vince Scully jersey with
the microphone on the back, Like, oh, my dad is
all for that.

Speaker 7 (01:09:42):
I love it. I love the history. If I could
be transported back into any era of baseball, it would
be nineteen fifties New York or late forties New York.
To be able to watch those three teams all on
the trains in one city, That to me is the
peak of baseball cool right there.

Speaker 1 (01:10:02):
He's on Twitter at John Morosi, that is at John Morossi.
John Paul is always appreciated. We'll talk to you later
on this week, talk about the games, and get your lions.
Pick the game against the Vikings coming on Sunday.

Speaker 6 (01:10:13):
That is right.

Speaker 7 (01:10:14):
I can't wait for that. I was sad to see
the hutches and injury, but certainly a very emphatic win
over the Cowboys. So yes, much to discuss.

Speaker 1 (01:10:23):
Next time you got any buddy, We'll talk to you.
Enjoy you to Thanks so much, Thanks to you, JP,
